"A strange part about that. Here's an straight. I know that was the creepiest scene. But at the same time. That's the first time in the film where the soundtracks stopped doubling everything you know cheetos sadly she suddenly got normal with this guy and i thought it was going to lead to something else but it didn't obviously something even deeper inner character but it was. That was one thing. I noticed that the beginning i thought was amazing sight everything. She hears us in doubles. She's not state. Yeah sounds like it would be worth the watch. The again with headphones on jackson lake death. Okay but what i find fascinating is prison that she's in this glorious house that she's that is it's like a terrarium cut her. Cut her off from the rest of the world for her to grow what they won't want her to be nicole. Tell about her house. It's beautiful and it's modern and there's glass everywhere and there's wood paneling but it's classy wood paneling. It's like it's a real wood polished to a glow a warm glow but they're floor to ceiling window walls and it's just there's no. There's no privacy. There's no personality to it really. I mean there are some bumps in some chomsky's here and there are no one's ever read any those books ever. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't there. Because of what. Color the book jackets were. They went with the carpet there. Yeah it's that kind of a house and it's that kind of families that she's would we meet her she is yes. Yes but like one stepford wife in the making. Oh yeah yeah like a just a piece of furniture. Ucla as they say but she's just furniture in this film. you know. Get a look. Frank lloyd wright's home and she's just part of the accessories one of the things that i learned during theater victorian works. Is that those. There'd be pages of script and things in that area at era where the women would just wait where nothing would happen until a man came along. That's where she is a all the time. Oh when her husband's she's waiting she's playing games. She's vacuuming with their with their heels. On like a good step but she's just in this constant state of waiting waiting waiting waiting waiting waiting and then what her husband comes. Now she's alive now. I'm a person and it's just awful. And is he got ritchie and he doesn't care and it's He pretends he cares. He maybe even thinks he cares but he doesn't care you know. I just found that strange with his character because it was so it was so schizophrenic. Through the whole film at first you kind. Kinda thought oh. He'd seems like a cool boy. He was very nice at time. She thought he really meant it. And then other times and other times not. That's you know vapid good looks that's about it. I said before we started that. I unintentionally pick these movies to put in a row during this time period of my life that i'm at a real low and all these movies are playing at what's really bothering me And this family is my family. And i was in an emotionally controlling relationship. So that guy totally knows what that's about. I'm always showering complements our show. I'm going to do complements. Everything's great you're beautiful your perfect but it's always for a reason it's just a control. You doing exactly what i wanted to do without you seeing that i'm doing it and that's what this guy is a master at this whole family and it's terrifying to watch for me anyway. I was like that's my life. I was that i was her. I was her for a while and i didn't. I didn't even know what was happening. And she's fine. She's wonderful and she's approved of until she chose that she has a mind and emotions of her own. What i thought was fascinating about this movie in its on is that deals with the whole disease of pica. Could one of you tell me what that is. I'm sorry nicole. I know she did. She went down the well. also i. i've been pregnant twice. So pike is a condition that some pregnant women develop where they get this compulsion to consume things. That aren't food and it's most often things like earth or chalk or you know there. There's a theory that it's because your body is craving particular minerals. Are things that you're not getting in your diet But no one knows for certain at this point and You know. I myself never. I never had it. Although i did have cravings for mcdonald's milkshakes and given the cellulose content shrew. Those aren't food can be made at iraq's style i remember thank you thank you she develops. She develops this condition where she swallowing things that have no nutritional value that are potentially harmful may get bigger and bigger more dangerous dangerous and instead it's weight instead of this at another movie the disease or the conditions would be vilnai's and this her way out right. It's her first step into finding herself. Yeah at no point is like now. I've kicked it now. It's just like this till finally get your shit together. It's a really creepy way to look at it. You know how. I took it almost in a sense because of the past year we had to live through that we had to swallow so much shit on a regular basis for the past four years that healthy. None of it was healthy. All of it had to be exercised one way or another. So essentially i was taken is like in a would swallow that once. Swallow this one swallow another. You know caracas shit. And it's came across very much as a lot of us are feeling today to very insecure. We don't know what we are anymore and now we're just slowly edging back into whatever society is going to be from now on down. I have never had. I've never dealt with anyone. Who had this dealt with this particular condition but over the years working in theatre i have dealt with young women with eating disorders bulimia anorexia relatives where that and the one thing that they all had in common with somebody in their life that was excessively controlling. And i've heard some doctors say that this sometimes this eating disorder. Thing is about regaining control. Getting i'm controlling everything else control. But i've got this. This is something i just did. That is mine did it. I have a secret. i'm in control of that. No one else can have it. It's mine and so. I went in with that knowledge and so i don't know maybe i said yeah. This actually all fits because she is not in control of her life. Poor thing right and it's typically after some sort of Controlling move from her husband or his parents that she'll go and find something else to swallow. I mean it's not just she's not just swallowing these things. She's she's swallowing her emotions. She swallowing her rage. Just looking at my notes so many. It's not sure where to go with it. So many about five pages worth of it's still sinking into me now even just like our after it. It's just like this scene. The scene with the mother-in-law in the living room was so horrific for me even though nothing frightening happens and it because that is so my family and that so my family's living room the living room that we only bring just guest in to to make them feel intimidated. The one that's fifty shades of ecru becker. Don't touch anything everything and here's really expensive. We're only in here to make you feel really uncomfortable and inferior. And.

"Patrick m happy february. Happy slow snowy slushy grows aspects everywhere. Y'all three feet of it. Yes so alan how're you. How is the winter treating you. What has been going on with you. Since last june when we last talked. Oh quite a bit you summer and and my dad died so them. That was one of those things that took most of the summer and everything so he has joined september. And just you know getting back into everything again. I miss them a lot owned standard ninety one though so great long long life you know but even at that point to just want more of it sure sure blah but you know it. It's going to be a good year. It's gotta be a good here. Better be i got cake someone to ask. If it's not davis i will not be kicking. Nicole davis nicole. Davis is your first time to scream queens podcast before we go a step further. Why don't you tell us what goes on over the movie go round. I would love to say that. It's also sort of master plan. This go round idea that we had but mainly it was because we wanted to be able to do like a huge variety of things so we have new two when we have future classics and we have netflix. And we have around the world and then we have one that our audience picks and usually they're mean but occasionally they're nice and we're always hoping for another what we do in the shadows but last one we put out with cats so goes it's fun question. That's burning on everyone's mind. Is the cat woman episode ever coming out. It was just so bad. I promise it will come out. Unfortunately are wonderful co host producer at a brett works at a food delivery service company and golly but their business has been doing remarkably well lately so he hasn't quite busy. I would just like to be sure that. I didn't watch cat for nothing because man absolutely place is not in vain. And i'll never forget that it wasn't you that did that to me. It was them. That's right they picked. It did it to us and much like i've inflicted upon you. The movie swallow alan. Yes since you're a veteran the show we have a little tradition here at scream queens headquarters that you have not been forced to participate in the past because he'd been tied thirty second back of the dvd cover plot summary of swallow. Don't give me the whole story but pitch me that script like i'm an executive in an elevator. You have thirty seconds okay. We're probably going to do. A film in the vein of a sort of chiesa can't think roman polanski kind of diarrhea notch with sort of a slight bit of a kronenbourg type of body. Her issues put it together swat. That was so awful. Believe it was so doubtable. Title is a command. That was so bad. Oh honey that's not the worst. That's happened when i make it. Just slop like a fish which is great for audio but no that was a great nicole davis d. Any plots that you would want to have another thirty seconds. What would you say to go. Now oh this lovely young bride has married into a family that she didn't realize was quite so emotionally controlling and as they tightened down there. Hold on her. She begins a swallowing more and more unusual objects as her pregnancy. Hormones have crime compulsion up god weld on. I'm sold. i'll watch that. Hey hey alan you brought in the big names from a get everybody. She gave me it really me. It did hit me a lot. Like i was getting a real feeling of like rip from repulsion catherine geneva got a lot of that and i was getting even the like. Diarrhea amount housewife from the seventies. That was classic. It didn't go anywhere. I expected it to go. Not at all when i was really pleased about. I just thought it was going to turn into a really gruesome thing and it was and it was gruesome and everytime anticipated the worst. They let me off fatally which was good which was great because it's like mission accomplished. That was my exact same reaction. I wasn't expecting a completely different movie. I was expecting a gross out. Movie on what she going over god and just have everything lined up trophies on her vanity table so wild. It's like one accomplish tomb accomplishment three accomplishment. Just the poor thing. She's such an empty vessel in this movie. You're not that kind of movie. And there was even even like forty five minutes and where she started stupid through the toilet like she's gonna start. Any pope was afraid. I seriously thought that too. It's actually something better but also let's start now knows. I was surprised of a movie. It went nowhere. Exactly what you said. It went nowhere. Expected and people are even debating whether or not it's a horror movie even though it's billed as G definitely an emotional horror movie. Yeah i mean. It's a macabre drama. It's definitely got a lot of things going on. I mean are monsters in this kind of color kind of thriller but not in the thrill sense. You know it. it's it's hard to pinpoint it. It really is towards haley bennett. So hunter what a performance but did she. Also right this is also something with the screenplay are i'm not sure about the screenplay but she was an executive producer on it. Okay all right all right. Wow wonderful performance from the frame of the movie. Like i love a movie that the film itself tells you stories like each frame of the film is like oh i know exactly what's going on and you're telling me something they're standing on that balcony with the plexiglas and just on the other side is fog and it just looks like nothing. All the shots were so interesting as i'm thinking about it now and thinking about her personality and her character how she's always part of the shot. There's a lot of negative space. Being used she'll be into or a In a reflection of it but it's not really her all the time. The very interesting to in this very very cold cold called world in environment is really cool to watch. It had a really cool sort of when like the early. French films had like that. The wage the new age style of filmmaking. It just really thought it was in that vein. I really liked it. Yeah when she's when she's around her husband and her in laws she tends to wear these very washed out drab colors but when she's by herself in the home she brings out the emerald greens and the purples and the ad ran boarding the morning. Glow or yellow. That keeps coming back bay. They kind of signal early on like when she's doing something she likes. She's got that canary yellow or yellow somewhere on her body and the first time which eats that thump tax cuts right afterwards where she stripped down to her panties and her bra and that yellow mike. That's her is the first time she's come out. You know what else is twisted to is the sound design because of the beginning everything you're hearing read was doubled if some sound yes yes. Her husband is speak to her and they reverted all of that everything. She was hearing all the way up to the one point where he brought his buddies home. And the one guy comes in against. Can i have a hug..

"So much for having the am so excited to talk to you. I'm so excited to talk to you to casey. I love your work. I cannot emphasize that enough. Well thank you so much. I i love it when people respond to it. Because it's just like my little like passion projects not just the door doing excellent. Here's the whole thing. Here's a whole big. I've spent eleven to twelve years working on this show and the whole gist of it. When i started was i'm inviting people to look at horror movies in a different way through someone else's eyes and what you've done with this. Feminism frontline is just that you reinterpreting them in your own way still paying complete respect to the original things but adding new dimension student now have about me babbling about how great you are tells about you. Where are you in this crazy world. I'm in arkansas. The northeast quarter of arkansas. Wow and i got hit by the snow. There's a little bit of snow outside since you've been the featured artist particularly for the fence. What was your inspiration for picking these your for reimagining all these facts and heart. You know i am such a horror. Fan has been since. I was a little kid and I just watch horror movies constantly. Which i'm sure you and your audience completely go with. I could talk okay. i started with. I watched a girl walks home alone at night. One of my all time favorite. I i saw it. I couldn't get out of my head. And i kept thinking about that character and i was like i just wanna draw this this woman and like this boil down way whereas all simplicity just the essence of the character with his little details possible. And i did it. And i got a ton of reaction to this illustration. And i was like this is awesome. I didn't even realize because it was right when it came out for the american audiences or whatever like when when we see it and the reaction was just so positive. And donna me. Why don't i just do these women that i'm passionate about. That just really moved me in horror. Movies doesn't matter how obscure in the same style and just try to boil them down to the simplest ingredients. Try to watch the whole movie. Put some hidden stuff in. There's stuff that really boils down to what i feel the character trillions and such kept doing it was just just for me really it. I people have been responding to it. Well so that that makes me super happy so i love them one of his i. I've said repeatedly what i'm talking about on the show. Is that even though you. Boil them down to their essences of whimsy and play to them. But they don't lose their menace either by spy stripping things down actually add another layer to them which is fascinating. It's awesome. i love that. Like just take for instance pamela mrs voorhees. Oh yes. I love her for her face. Totally sums up twenty twenty. She's like no way belittling. What'd you say. Her mouth got that downward curtain semicircle curve. Which reminds me of charlie brown cartoons. When they go no that totally sense i wanted to look her crazed which is the whimsy but then she's got those dead blank white eyes which are terrifying so it just wonderful combination of medicine whimsey and i love it. I love it. I love it i love it. I found all by favorites. Like i'm wearing my mary t shirt right now. If you notice girl to marry mary lou girl really but we're not getting into politics so okay. So what are some of your favorite horror movies. I mean i could pick some just from from your collection. But i'd like to ask you probably you probably can't i mean my favorite is rosemary's baby like hooked me from when i was younger. I love house of the devil. I just saw one a recently. And i just flipped. I don't know if you've seen amulet yet. Yes yes. I need to rewatch that. Because i don't really understand it but i think it's okay that i don't understand it because it's really scary. Anyway i wanna watch it again to i. I've been there some certain ones. I get so intimidated. The draw that. I love so much. And like i mean but i just love all the weird like you know slow. Burn colton tenere. i'm into it. You know but what else. I've got so many that it's it's even hard to girl walks. Tonight is obviously one of them. I love under the skin. raw cam. bloom mind on that one's not the movie expected it to be at all it respected women in a way. I didn't expect it to. I went into it thinking. I don't know about this one and it yes exactly. It just seems like your basic made for direct to video sleaze fast. But it wasn't no no. I love a movie still after all these years. I love movie. They can still take me by surprise. Have you always been artistically. Inclined is that has always been a thing. It really has like even growing up as a kid. I used to like sit in class and draw on my jeans. The sharpie always knew. I wanted to go into art. Yeah i just had like this pair of jeans. I just covered drawings. I've always drawn. I got in trouble for drawing in class. I moved into like for career. I work at a t shirt company. I do like custom illustration and i've done graphic design for a long time so it just has always been the clear path for me. I am always envious of anyone who was skilled at the visual arts. because that i'm performing artists. Give me singing dancing. Let's up that i can do. Give me a pen and a pencil. Stick figures come out looking one is bad. Must out stick figure. Good patrick always the best. Buy that clearly. You don't get it exactly. It's all about the confidence and you probably haven't heard about it exactly a state case. Since you've been a lifelong har- did you ever get into trouble for liking horror. Movies going onto jefferson. That sort of thing. Like i have had people in the show before that it's like i would get in trouble for doodling in class like some dumping from a horror movie and all of a sudden it'd be the principal's office and my called like worship citing. I think i was already so weird growing up my parents just thought it was just another thing like so we would go on sleepovers like when i was in third grade. Weeded sleepovers in. Watch all the freddy kruger movies. And the only time i got in trouble was when one of my friend's moms realized that's what we were up to you know But otherwise i was my mary. Ellen was up all night with nightmares. Because the vet casey lohman. I don't think you should see that. Casey girl anymore. Something wrong with her hands for being a bad influence. I by virtually visited women. Harm up. what are some of your favorite like women. Helmed phyllis eight hundred. You mentioned girl. Watch night anything else women movies. Let me cheat and look at my like. I mean lucky. This year blew my mind. I don't know if you've seen that yet. Not yet yeah. I jumped on the pandemic thing movies this year. Just kind of got lost on my end. Because i had to stop watching harvey's for a long time because i couldn't handle it. Which is fun when this is your job yeah new harmonies all refine because everybody was going to be. I knew who. I was gonna.

I remember six months before graduating. I was actively looking for working jumping in my car and driving across ohio and pennsylvania back back to new york on interviews and then coming back campus sounds very aggressive trying to find a job but i i did graduate without a job but would it happen. When i kim homeless i remember <hes> a staffing agency reached out to me to work with cross blue shield and i ended up going on that interview <hes> accepted accepted the position and remember it was so they would renew my contract. Every thirty days and i was working within the they call it the office of the c._i._o. Uh-huh and and it was implementing a software off color online project management tool and so it was i think being at a higher state and being asked such a large campus and kind of being in an environment where you might not know someone on and having to be comfortable immediately introducing yourself because before you know before until i say i consider myself kinda shy but it made myself myself made me put myself out there more in made me actually i think a more aggressive while instead of passive and i think <hes> host ohio state posts ohio university you know i i really took the initiative and you know meeting different people in saying hey. Do you have a job. You know anyone who works at this company or that company. I remember i would go to linked in an email. C._e._o.'s and c._e._o.'s and c._i._o.'s go hi. My name is nicole armed graduating or i just graduated. I would love to connect h._r. Group i mean that's that's the do you have to be aggressive like that yeah and yeah and that's what they taught me half to say because you are you're competing against fifty thousand students and you think completely differently then when you're at a small school yeah i was <hes> so i i ended up going to morehouse with a scholarship from nasa and so the way that the the way that they had worked out was you would in turn to nasa facilities and then upon graduating you'd kind of be lined up to have a job with nasa and so that was going into like even freshman year going into morale's. I was like this is the goal like i'm set after i graduate. I'll all i have to do is just keep above a three point zero and i'm good <hes> and then nine eleven happens so that happened my like junior junior year like going into my junior year and at that point my scholarship thing kind of changed like it's shifted for me being a shoo-in for a job somewhere and keep in mind this is after i've done my two internships so i'm thinking all i gotta do is kick back these last two years and i got a you. You know six figure job waiting for me when i graduate now things are going into this new departure may call homeland security and it's like well now. You don't have a job <hes> lined up when you graduate. So what are you going to do and i mean you have to i had to at least i had the hustle and try to get my name. I don't know if ohio state does this like different departments. Have these like interview books where companies come to interview. They wanna know like who's signed up in the major or whatever and i would get to know oh the secretaries in the different departments like come by like bring them a cookie or like talk for twenty minutes because the secretary of the gatekeepers for people that are listening..

"I was always on an apple that all macintosh doing different exercises and i just remember i was just the myself and probably one of the suit were using the only kids using a computer where <hes> kids who are in teach classes are probably ensure other areas but i still remember when computers like more people were learning learning in be aware computers it was completely new to so many people might have been using computers since nineteen eighty nine in nineteen <unk> a what's the big deal but yeah i think that was really my first starts because i just remember always walking into the room and you know do simple little create simple basic interface and even yeah so that's how i started and that that's where my interest grew from there because then in high school i remember. I had an internship at a chemical company in their i._t. Department and even it just kinda training their employees on how to use the computer in general on because they didn't know on and using old applications applications to just for them even to type a paper and <hes> when did you. I guess what i know. I know that like these skills that you are learning that this was something that you could do for a living honestly. It really wasn't until i i think it was <hes> a new high probably senior year of high school. I remember on the internship that i had it was through cornell and i i had i think having that on my my c._v. You'd say helped me into get into different colleges and in the conversations that i was having with recruiters were different because like oh you had an internship with corner i remember the name of that and but they were so impressed by typing bad the framed how i viewed myself and what i would be doing in college because initially <hes> i really have this passion for economics x which i ended up going back to mid way through college by. I initially was majoring in computer. Science started college in nineteen clean ninety nine okay so it's interesting as you mentioned all that i'm like these. I'm picking up some parallels to myself because like one i also went went through years of speech therapy to also grew up using those like brown apple two e. macintosh computers and i also started out it computer science and ended up changing it because my mom really wanted me to <hes>. She really wanted me to be like dwayne wayne from a different world. She's like you're going to be a computer engineer and this is what you're gonna do and i started out at morehouse because they have this dual degree computer computer science computer engineering program where you go to school for five years and then you come out with a bachelors and a masters and it's like okay well. That sounds pretty good. I hated. It's absolutely hated it by professor. Wasn't that good. I i was getting the material but i just didn't like it yeah and also like this was around the time that the web was starting to kinda. Take off. I mean the web was around in some capacity back. Then i also went to college in ninety nine <hes> the web was around in that capacity city but like it's certainly not what it is now twenty years later you know what i mean but i wanted to do web design like like i was experimenting with eye frames raines and doing things and i remember my adviser who was also by computer science professor was saying that if the web is a fad so like if this if this is is what you wanna do that. You should probably change your majors. I think the future is computers but now this is. This is just a fad like nobody's going to be looking at computers like this. You know oh five years from now this crazy you know it's funny 'cause i felt like when i got to college. I was so my first year at university of pittsburgh berg and i'll say my professors were actually really good. I remember <hes> a couple of them. Were actually working at microsoft and so. I really enjoyed but those classes didn't perform well in those classes. I remember got like be minuses c. plus so that that actually i think that encouraged me to change my major dirk is i was on <hes>. I could ship and so okay..

I really like working there but being a road warrior was was exhausting and i was sick of being in a hotel monday through thursday and so when they came to me they said hey this is a role that is minimal travel so i travel less than ten percent of the time <hes> and that was one of the reasons why i took the job was travel. Other incentives were offered and also i mean it was a the title i knew then i would have a lot more responsibility in my role on. I would have a team that i would be. I'm working with a managing okay. Eh for those who are listening who might not be familiar can you you just kind of tell a little bit. Appeals court likely to rule Obamacare unconstitutional
"After ninety minutes of oral arguments yesterday it's now up to a panel of judges at a federal appeals court to make a decision on the act you might know it as obamacare and decide if it's constitutional ABC Serena Marshall spoke with WBZ's Nicole Davis for a rundown of this case yeah some people are saying Hey didn't we already do this that and the I pulled the fact that the other part is constitutional and you're right in twenty twelve they did on the premise that Congress is allowed to tax and therefore collect on the individual mandate in twenty seventeen Congress rewrote the tax law and in doing that day also zeroed out that penalty requires you to have health insurance so taxes let it charge of eighteen a Republican led state to file a lawsuit that now because that tax penalty is zero there is no longer a requirement to have health insurance and therefore the entire affordable Care Act is unconstitutional because it cannot be sustained without the requirement that everyone have health insurance a Texas judge upheld that ruling they said yes it is entirely unconstitutional and yesterday an appeals court in New Orleans at this circuit court of appeals listen to oral arguments we don't expect a decision on that and till September but Nicole no matter how they rule there's a likelihood this will be appealed to the Supreme Court which means that to the earliest they could take up the case would be this fall the earliest we could get a response from them if they do take up the case to be next may or June so no matter what happens here we expect twenty twenty three really focused again on healthcare absolutely so of course if the justices of the Supreme Court eventually do decide to invalidate the ACA what does this mean for everyday Americans when it comes to their health care coverage there are a lot of provisions of the ACA that people really want including the ability to keep children on their plans until twenty six the requirement you can't discriminate against people because of pre existing conditions after that you have the free preventative healthcare and expanded Medicare those are all provisions of people I really like and I've been seem to be very popular all of those are part of the ACA if the entire laws invalidated all of those could go away now that's not to say that it's how even this lower court rules rule now legal analysts see three possible outcomes they could afford a lower court ruling striking down individual mandate and therefore the entire AC is constitutional they could invalidate demanded alone separate from the rest of the Lally much of it in place or they could leave the law functioning as it others are also possibilities of how the Supreme Court could eventually rule as well but that definitely something this twenty twenty democratic contenders are watching it something members on Capitol Hill or watching the Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said yesterday if the law is ruled unconstitutional that plan to take up a bipartisan legislation to ensure protection for those with pre existing conditions immediately but Nicole we haven't seen any legislative tax any outlined even from the Republican Party when it comes to how they plan to replace the affordable Care Act plans that dumbed down though by a John McCain at two years ago that was a B.
