"Was like, wow, he looks amazing. And then he was like, I don't really want to play football. Unbelievable. Yeah. I do think the Giants offense gets better, but I don't think the pivot guy on that is going to be kadarius Tony. No, it'll be next year when they draft a new quarterback and they start over there. I hope for Jan Daniel Jones sake you're wrong. And I think they're going to run Daniel Jones a lot more than people realize. Well, I hope he doesn't fall down about 30. He gets 30 yards downfield. It's not bad. Yes, sir. All right, let's go to our second wide receiver, sophomore, and that's Baltimore receiver Rashad Bateman. Who I have a make on. Yeah. Despite a disappointing rookie season, ravens doubled down on Rashad Bateman, team didn't put a single draft pick into the position. They didn't add any free agents and they lost Marquise Brown. Bateman's biggest threat for targets is Devin duvernay. He barely counts. Those biggest threat for targets is probably wide receiver. And it's JK dobbins and receiver yes. Bateman scored just once last year and even his snap count really spiked up in the final month of the season. The production yards, the catches didn't move with it, unfortunately. The best reason for optimism here in the four games that Bateman played with 8 or more targets, which he could get on a regular basis this year, 8 or more targets, he averaged a rock solid 73 yards. And it comes together for a lottery receivers in year two, opportunity Trump's talent. We talk about it all the time. And fantasy football opportunity is more important than talent. Getting the ball at the goal line. Getting 8 targets a game. That's more important than being the next Barry Sanders. With the opportunity factor, though, are you just slightly nervous that John Harbaugh's offense and Lamar Jackson's offense, just doesn't favor wide receivers and Marquise Brown had some splashes here and there. But wildly inconsistent and tough to start him on a weekly basis over the last few years. All right, so let's raise a good point. Let me define what I think where I think Bateman ends up this year. Okay. Around 80 catches a thousand yards and 7 touchdowns, okay? That's all right. I think that's I think that's the best. I think that's as much. Yeah, he plays all year, assuming you play as the full season as the number one receiver on his team, wide receiver on his team. I think that's where he could end up. Well, they only scored ten touchdowns as a wide receiver group last year. So that might be a little aggressive. I think he's probably, I would guess he finishes kind of around Brandon aiyuk, Tyler Boyd did last year, 60, 70 catches, 800 yards, 5 touchdowns. Okay. So you're on break or make? Is that a break? I make for you. I mean, I still am. I think it's still a make, but I think it's just a meh. Okay. Let's move on to Ron del Moore, Arizona wide receiver Ron del Moore. Is he a make or break? He's breaking for me. He's breaking out of Arizona, hopefully. I think you had the stat in the show. We did last time I was on, which must have been like three years ago. Yeah, because you've been on vacation for three years. Rondale Moore's average depth of target. One yard. One hour. And the next closest was four yards. Yeah. So unbelievable. And plus that, I mean, in my mind, then probably your mind, he's 5th on the wide receiver depth chart in Arizona behind Deandre Hopkins when he gets back from a suspension. Marquise Brown, AJ green and Antoine Wesley. I think so. Because you and I are, you know, I feel about Antoine obviously, yes. But also add in Zach Ertz and max Williams. I think he's 8th in the pecking order. You want to be 8th in a pecking order? No, I don't want that guy on my team. He's just a gadget guy in cliff Kingsbury's offense. Hence the depth of target. He's too small to be a red zone threat. You reliant on more breaking a huge touchdown. He did one last year. One touchdown. It was in completely blown coverage against the Vikings. That was it. He should not be on rosters and fantasy this year. He's a hardcore break for me. Hardcore break. All right. I'm with you on the break on Ron del Moore. Nico Collins is next, sophomore wide receiver for Houston, finished second on the team in receptions and receiving yards last year, but it didn't amount to much of anything. Texans used his big body on slants and middle of the field routes. Other than Cooper Cup, that is a very tricky part to get fantasy relevance from in the middle of the field because usually you could tackle quickly in the middle of the field. So you don't get the big plays, you don't get the touchdowns. So that part didn't help Niko Collins last year. He was the starter for the team in 6 of the final 7 games, but it didn't turn into an uptick in production for Nico Collins. What a starter even mean anymore. You're on the field the first play. That's it. Snap counts what's important is more important. Low catch rate, 54% catch rate, but that was largely the function of him being a rookie catching passes from a rookie. I think that gets better this year. They drafted John mechi who's coming off a January ACL. He won't be a factor for until Halloween or later. And Niko Collins is going to start. And I think if you believe like we do, is we talked earlier about Davis mills, feel like David smells. I think you need to probably like his number two receiver to get a little better. Nico Collins, sure. Big body guy should be more of an end zone target than he was last year. And so I've got a, I've got a cautious make on Niko Collins. I still don't think he's going to get anywhere near the numbers that Rashad Bateman just had is the number one for the ravens. But I could see Niko Collins finishing with 700 yards, 5 touchdowns, and he's somebody we're going to have. I think as a fairly regular take a chance on me wide receiver. Yeah, and Collins had two thirds of the snaps basically over the last half of the season. Okay. So he was basically a starter. Yeah. We'll take that. Thank you, Matt. Great job. "To me, if you go back and look at how I've done that twice before, how Lamar Jackson played. He played better when they had all the tight ends on the field. So let's bring that back. I know you're a little upset with us because we got rid of Hollywood, but I think they actually made it where the game can be better and easier for Lamar Jackson by adding these tight ends to go with the guy there. So we've talked about this before about one of the things that they do and their track record is they double up at positions. So when you go back through and look through their history and you look at the tight end position, they did it with pitta and Dixon, I believe, right? The first hit it. And then they came in first. James Hearst. Hayden Hurst, yeah. James Hearst to tackle. By the North Carolina I saw a clowny plague in search of the game. But yeah, so that's their philosophy. What's a draft that stood out to you? Yeah, look, I think the Houston Texans, you know, we talked about it at the top with stinging green as their first round picks, but I really loved what they did on day two. They went with Jalen Petrie, got some speed there at safety to replace Justin Reed, who ended up leaving. And then you get John metchie kind of add into as maybe a little bit more of your middle of the field receiver. You got Nico Collins last year, a little bit of the physical big, bigger body guy, and then you already got the speedster extending Brandon cook. So I think it's a contract extension for the first time in his career. So I thought that was nice. Then Christian Harris upgrades that the athleticism at linebacker because remember, Zach Cunningham, they just straight up cut in the middle of the season last year. And so he kind of fills that void. I even really liked it. Damien pierce pulling a China chop kind of running back there. He needed a little bit more in the run game production. He had 13 touchdowns, had more rushing yards against that stout Georgia defense than any running back did. In this entire draft. So I think that really helps him in the fourth round. Thomas Booker is a guy that we kind of liked as a solid smart player to be up there on the defensive line. You know, maybe on the interior there for lovey Smith there in the 5th round. So I thought they did real good. If I could just give you a quick honorable mention for Tina didn't have a first round pick that I thought did really well. Three of my favorite players go to the Indianapolis Colts with Alec pierce, jelani Woods at tight end and Bernard ryman at tackle. Yeah, and if you look at all the athletic scores in terms of taking way up there. Big time. That's something Chris Bauer's into. You think about the traits they got very athletic.

"And pick them up in your lineups. You don't get it. Can't get kamara. Because he'd put on they get leonard. All right what do you have to wipe out i. I was just go right with another well. Here ride the hot hand. Joe but robber would sixty four hundred bucks Flight they're still gonna find a way to give him a football. This might be a game. Where the lions are going to try to take away cooper couple of it knowing that savage favorite target woods wizard been pretty much independent. Besides one big game. He had Two weeks ago we blow for thirty five points or wherever it was I still think you know. Like i said i think i think the rams are gonna remers score up against lyon so i guess rubber woods at a discount. Sixty four hundred bucks. Yep almost robert with demise. But i saw that a little bit more sixty three hundred bucks. Gimme agent brown titans versus the chiefs again. I'm stacking eight henry j brown. Why because the cancer even can't stop a nosebleed last two times. They play those fifty nine. Total points this is a gps in total points at six seven point. So that's the last two years he know it's going to be high scoring game brown and smith and mike. Well all went over one hundred dollars chiefs this year. A six hundred sewers have over. Nineteen fantasy points for some birth them this year. Age around gonna make another one especially because also. Julio jones is out. I think he's out. He's dealing with a hamstring injury. But those are never pretty shocked. What's that shocker. Julio jones injury yeah yup yeah though you know as you can tell this year anytime player to hand hammy injury. They automatically get ruled out and they typically the time. Yeah i like agent boundaries achieve sixty three hundred bucks. I like that price range doors. I'm sticking their price range. Gimme antonio brown for sixty three hundred dollars going of again. Like i say against the bears. Antonio brown's on the hugh a little bit here the past two games he's had over twenty five points or sorry over twenty four points in the past Obviously the past two games Tom brady mentioned that. He loves having antonio brown phil. He's he's he said he's a football genius. We are no time. Braves of football genius They have a nice chemistry. And greg is still not back so i think antonio brown's favorite of tom brady so Mickey feeding them. So give me. It's brown for six hundred bucks. Were both stacking running back with a wider interesting strategy that we typically do. But i like it and i hate to save money somewhere. So gimme a chance on nico collins playing the cardinals houston receiver rookie a michigan. Thirty two hundred bucks off blast last week four catches on six targets. Forty four yards his first game since we to injury he got hurt. Second play of the game. You played fifty seven percent of the snaps. Give the guy shot. You know what. I'm saying if you can get them for two hundred bucks if he can get your over between five ten points great value because you're gonna be lonely roster with a bunch of studs all right. I'm gonna say we some money can go with my guy. Devante smith for fifty four hundred bucks. Obviously i know he can. He's coming up a A pretty bad gaming tampa bay on jalen hearses run around for his life in the backfield and wasn't able to complete passes aspect still keep them family involved in the passing game..

"That hasn't done anything they've had one good season white last fifteen years Watts boards is going to have such a great season. I didn't like them taking t. Late in the first round of those alley suspect when robertson had such a good season say is considering not they have so many holes that need affects defense last year the most points in the afc twenty seven versus the past thirtieth versus abroad End lights out. You mentioned they have to play the nfc west. I mean i just don't see it here. Don't see the offense and if you look at their wide receivers. I mean not chart already as broken finger. Leader would save are broken finger and each getting that mended but still the receivers are averaged. Best at best cincinnati about the steal. Your steelers receiver. Tagore's does barely. I like the jaguar receivers. I think that's a good area is a very very Who are the best receivers. Harry is very very strict when it comes to wide receivers arklow lead them in the team of saving lives with seven hundred yards. Seven hundred yards young. Everybody show. i had the year before. I don't wanna make your favorite receivers. I like the giants receivers. That's why you think they're top chenault. Good galt is going to be belt. If if like i said if. Cd lamp doesn't live in the lineup. And the slot. He's gonna use these. It'd be lined up the outside for doubts. Thank you you go now at your dallas cowboy fan them joan through all right so now i said I said i think urban meyer relatively speaking inherited a great situation here with this. Afc south dumpster fire. I think just the opposite of this. David collie or guy ravens. What was he like the passing coach. And everything the hiram if no picks to make a what did they trade. The one in the two for l'armee tunsil years ago so they have to start sixty seven pick overall they get davis mills quarterback for stanford who looks like elsie he'll see time gra nico collins the wide receiver for michigan. I liked him. But let's face it. This is a disaster. They lost five in a row to close the season You know how do you replace the shawn watson. and he's not traveling with the team to this preseason game although he's signing autographs yesterday i don't get what's going on but forty eight hundred yards thirty three touchdowns he's a sixty eight percent passer and he did all this being sacked one hundred and fifty five times in three seasons like. I don't know. I don't know what they're gonna do with that. How do they do this. This is talyor who got a waiver from the team doctor and is now going to start this mess or davis mills that the fourth toughest schedule. Yeah they they add hightower mark. Ingram phil lindsay. Marcus cannon linemen will fuller gone defensively. Lovey smith comes in at nine takeaways. Last year i think the only team with fewer than ten jj waas gone zach. Cunningham's only bright light there. One hundred sixty three tackles added. Jack lawson what to do i. I don't know what the is four. I have them exactly with four. What kind of odd you get on that. That's also five to one odds touch them to make the playoffs. The noah's minus twelve hundred. If you can put that parlay go for the yes is plus seven. Ten paulie kid jumping on the under here is exactly. Yeah plus one twenty here sal. I do like that that value with the under. There's just so many questions that need to be answered regarding watson It was right around this time for years ago when the nfl Came down on zeke. A for his punishment. Like even without this the you know these things going These allegations from watson going forward in terms of the court system. Whatever doesn't the nfl have to make ruling on this eventually. Like to what. They're gonna do with watson like what what's going to happen here. I just think this team is in disarray. Regardless of what happens they there. Is this no juice with this team right. Is there anything besides to get excited about. They bought they bought and a gaggle of running backs here. It's kind of interesting david johnson. i do like philip. Lindsey a little bit from the broncos. He's there now. Mark ingram is there. Now i don't know none of them really excite me though. They're receiving core is ridiculously weak. If cooks is your number. One i don't. I don't see anybody getting too excited about that. I don't know it's it's it's gonna be a long year for this texans team. There's just too much drama surrounding it. I gotta take the under. I can't see going with the over here at all is the only thing i'll say about the texans. Tell me why maybe this is not the same situation but this time last year the washington football team was in similar turmoil. Right our you didn't have to. You didn't have to replace a franchise quarterback into shawn watson. That's that's a little different but you know whatever. Add the the team owner. There were allegations the whole thing with the how the cheerleaders were treated by the front of the some of the employees. That was terrible. They didn't have a name. Yeah the quarterback. They drafted wasn't very good and they played their shit division. And want it right. So i know i know. They're not rivera lots to do with that a good coach absolutely. But i'll say that. Maybe i'm not expecting them the turn around. You can't get too excited for more than four wins brother brian. You have the under. Also i give him wins at jacksonville. The first week versus jacksonville first week versus carolina and then to that you guys are gonna laugh against seattle and the chargers. Those are bolt home games. Licensees and those are the south everett dog in week. One at home against the jags as of right now there are three. Four hundred yeah. I don't think they're favored any any point. They won't be favored at all right now. I mean unless unless watson is playing or unless somebody else. Another quarterback gets hurt but home against carolina. They'll be an underdog few points right. I think yeah with somebody. Home against the jets. That's close. i guess they'll be an underdog that's late. That's about thanksgiving weekend. We don't know by then. But i still have them. I guess i guess four winds for a team. That's not favored. Any games is a lot. But i'm calling it at five to one bright hausa you. Yes so. I mean yeah. I liked the under here. I mean that you know last year. Even with a phenomenal season by watson right. They were still four and twelve they likely have the worst rosser Worth their worst roster in the nfl. I mean bill. O'brien the lake when we talk about Bill o'brien should probably be in jail based on how this roster looks i mean it is it is so like i mean everybody knew to. At the time that every move he made was really no picks. The couldn't just look at it. I mean that's why at this point really. Just i mean if you even if you're watson guy like just trade get something just start for. I mean you're gonna stink. You're probably gonna stink anyway. Whatever you know whatever you can get from because you don't know after this year but you know how much he'll play And it's probably worth it for them to start over but like you said before like shack lawson probably their main acquisition. They'll do for them. You'd have to figure with walk on this team..

"Traffic can run over linebackers. He's a very very good tidy and checks system hunter. Henry is a downfield receiver. He'll run the skinny post better than any tie in the nfl. This was something. I was doing as soon as these players. Were signed free agency and this is a genius. Lou could've used one more time in here. This is genius moves. It's an excellent play new england's desire to have to tidying on the field all the time coach. Bela check predates even the hernandez gronkowski years. And it is It's the past. Be prologue to the twenty twenty. One season love this strategy. I love those players Where what position did he drafted out of john. Kerry wasn't a seven spot tonight. I i it even makes it more difficult to accomplish this. When you're towards the middle. I think the only time i've been really able to do it was when i was on the end because the players are so closely packed to each other a good job john carey. I like what you did here We like as far. And when i say we i mean all my dynasty teams that own nico collins Athletics aaron. reese is reporting about him saying that he's seen quote plenty of first team reps in training camp this year now nico collins refresher for those who may not play dynasty. He was a third round. Pick in the nfl draft this year and Has the opportunity to start opposite. Brandin cooks in this. Houston texans offense. He's six four so obviously is much more of a red zone threat in Than than brandon cook says he had an eighty nine th percentile speed score. Seventy seven th percentile bursts score in ninety four percents. I'll catch radius. Now he is not going to be a guy that the texans scheme into games he is not going to be the type of guy where he is to threaten double digit targets every single game however feral he is going to be a threat if a worthwhile fantasy investment if he is indeed the starting or one of the starting wide receivers for the texas. This year tonight's jared hines drass nico collins tonight. Happy sixteen o eight as his number eight. I believe receiver. Yeah number eight receiver. What are your thoughts on nico college this year. As not a dynasty play but as a potential lottery ticket redraft play. It's an absolutely brilliant play and it also allows me with about six minutes left in the show to point out dog who listeners chase. Klay pool was a round pick last year. I was worried. I would go but i did get it and you know. Maybe this guy is this year's klay pool. He goes to situation where there's not a lot of receiver help much. Unlike pittsburgh his role will be widened. So he's in a situation. Where last year. Klay bullheaded defined role Any rookie receiver any receiver on this team as a A big big question market quarterback new situation for a team. That's not very good. And sometimes you know Teams that are not very good one and fifteen and fourteen We'll get an extra game this year so whatever it comes out to be but those teams can produce all sensitive standouts in fantasy football and collins lines up to sort of be that kinda guy. was big target and the catch radius is very important..

"They don't have sheldon rankings anymore. So we'll see what their run defense looks like. It's year after it's one of the best. We'll see what it looks like. For the first six games. I was reading bill barnwell story over the weekend on. Espn dot com. And he noted that the packers scored a touchdown on eighty percent of their red zone trips last year that the highest since two thousand one according to espn. And i think that's just when they started you know tracking it that's not even it could be the highest in longer than that but basically twenty years you know. The packers had the most successful season inside the red zone. Last year was just a very successful red zone season to begin with from two thousand one to two thousand nineteen only twelve teams. Had a red zone touchdown rate higher than seventy percent from twenty twenty from two thousand one to two thousand nineteen last year sixteen. did it. Green bay tennessee. Cleveland seattle new orleans and minnesota. And what. I thought. Dave you might find this interesting. What bill barn noted that that four of the six teams that scored on score touchdowns seventy percent or more of the time in the red zone for the six teams operated out of the same kubiak slash. Shanahan style attack. I'm just reading here from his. Not just basically west coast offense. It's it's it's a wide zone offense so little different. Sure it's funny how shanahan's offense isn't in this list. Yeah right and the seahawks are now getting the seahawks were one of those sixteen but now they are also going to have that same style of offense at least based on their coordinator rams assistant sheriff waldron taking over as offensive coordinator. So we'll have that too right. Yes they all right. So i don't know thought it was interesting. Good read checkout hughes. Not a lot of really interesting notes this week. I guess that's about to change but houston with training camps opening houston rookie wide receiver. Nico collins should have a chance for a lot of early snaps. According to the athletics erin. Reese is he on anyone's radar anyway. Drafting nico collins. He was on my radar with one of my last few picks the fish bowl and obviously he's a probably in that late. Second third round range in rookie only drafts big dude not necessarily a burner but a guy who can win some fifty fifty balls in houston. Yeah he's somebody the draft profile on. He's actually an interesting prospect because he cut a lot of weight before the senior bowl as contract to reinvent himself because he missed he opted out of the twenty twenty season into a different at the senior bolden. He looked at michigan Quick faster so he might be someone that can be a lot different now that he has taken ten pounds off his frame. So someone keeping an eye on. But i think you can dig time. And i'm not expecting too much from a passing game lead by tyrod taylor anyway. Your last pick scott fishbowl. Bill remember yes chadha henny. My first pick was patrick mahomes. Okay makes sense. Dwayne ask ridge. I believe oh mine was too atwell a similar type idea there. Yeah knocker brown. He might start. Yeah that's good that way before my last pick shrager for the win. Second levy on bellwood last I'd rather have any design bell when you're gonna. You're that's true. You're going to drop very kicker at some point. You guys take kickers fishbowl. I didn't you did. I took one one cater but at the bigger really early. I've figured it'll be kickers on the waiver. Wire if i need one to give me my solid ten points route. Fifteen lot around fifteen years ago kicker i kick off the board project Coup giannakou.

Michael thomas renton you will fuller rondo more rashad bateman ryan edwards and nico collins and then the titans travis kelsey. Naw fan and dalton schultz. Obviously the titans are awesome. I know you don't like the trae lance pick kyla murray can cover a lot of that up The receivers there's a bunch of them. But i mean there's young. It's tough to project guys like rondell more rashad bateman nico collins when their rookies and then the running backs they don't you know nobody. I don't think there's an anchor. There i know chain would probably chris carson would be anchor and i could see how that could work out. I don't really envision him staying healthy over seventeen game season and then you have mile sanders. That could be part of running back by committee so if he hits on the running backs and and and You know one of those rookie. Receivers this yeah. This could be a competitive team. But i think there's some holes here holes not even kelsey collar marino a fan patch. I like what he did with rondo. More rondo more. We'll find his place with this team. And we're dealing with seventeen weeks season. Correct your bulky. So we're in a good situation around no more to emerge. He's going to have to get a great deal from kelsey and kelsey and fan are gonna have to score foreign every single week. he Actually shane in the in the chat room. said it's not sexy on paper with two tight ends. But i like my team stacked murray connor and rondell lance and lance with brandon. Are you so there is some stacking. There could come into play sometimes tacky stacking cans debut for sure especially if you're moving my and that is a joke ladies and gentlemen Mike reid is up next in these. Four spot here trevor lawrence baker mayfield and derek carr at quarterback derrick henry. Dodge a harris chase edmund. David johnson devon single terry at running back. Receivers are mike evans. Tamar chase devante. Smith curtis samuel miko hartman allen lazard and. Sammy watkins tight end. Kyle pits austin hooper and oj howard farrell for this squad as the rookies go. So does mike reid..

"I i think he could be one of those players this year And i i shouldn't even say this out loud because i'm not gonna wanna hear that that everybody thinks is going to be the guy and then they just end up doing like you know an exchange of two or three guys back there you know with mcguire mccain and williams or whoever you think williams's the guy. If that words allaire was the was the go down. There's going to be part of a committee. No i think you're having buyer's remorse and it's perfect time for you have buyer's remorse as you prepare to make your trip for drafting season to kentucky. Now let me tell you. All right We went through a situation last year with with with the c. h. he he's in a situation where A lot of people consider that they wasted a first round draft. Pick on him. And then i don't. I don't feel that he had a player here. That had a hundred and eighty one carries costume balls show some explosives explosiveness but that production was compromised when through the front office Coach in the formidable coach. Andy reid is. He had to compromise season but putting levy on bell on the field. I don't believe that's going to happen again. He's not going to compromise the ages performance again. This year i we talked about it. I think this past podcast that we have friday night. This office will support in the league type in the league. "But any any initial thoughts after hearing some of these guys cal. I think he is actually one of the thirteen personally He's really solid. I don't see any weaknesses in a team as far as like death. You know what thing i like about blake is. He's done a really nice mixture of for for being on a referendum. He's had taken a nice value of taking player. That's all into especially early in the draft and he's also done a really good job in reaching clear that he wants to get You know and he's definitely find me a couple of weeks. He's i'm about three picks behind him coming back every time around he might be multiple so good job lake. We end up. Yeah i mean it's just really it's really interesting with the format that we have being too tight end and having three wide receivers in free flexes. I think that he got a really really nice receiving corps and his quarterback for not lacking. He actually wanted a better stronger. Callback earns tannehill running back to be the only thing that i could see long-term Might be they might fall off a cliff. Fast with the gaskins the nixon but You know you can't really have everything you automate this type of format discussed pick your battles and if you're gonna point something running back is probably the thing you don't want to overly invest in early address. I think you hit you. Hit it right on the head there. With a lot of your evaluations. I really liked to nico collins pick. I thought that was especially strong. Point for blake. He got him in the fifteenth round and nico collins. Is the receiver own right now in. Houston i know. I drafted brandin cooks. And i think he drafted him a little bit earlier. So maybe he's the one the draft but long-term lecoq allen is the best option most likely because he's twenty two years old kooks twenty eight years old cooks right now is the thousand yard receiver but the offense is really collins for taken as for is long-term..

"Johnson was still good. Jacksonville's thirty second and james robinson was still good so you can be a bad team but you gotta catch the football. And least he has that skill set. Now i will It's it would be disingenuous of me not to bring up the tyrod taylor not throwing the ball much to the running back with a running back capable of catching the ball I think on the extremes. And i've had some of this conversation debate on twitter. Recently over is throwing to the running back. A quarterback stat is at a Talent stat is a coaching stat. And i think on the extremes it is. It is a quarterback stat Not in the average. And tyrod taylor's on the extreme of that he's not gonna throw the ball a lot david johnson. So it's a matter of. Do we really believe tyrod. Taylor is going to be starting much of the season. Yeah and i. Don't you know the talent is thin. There the have to david jones. Even if he's lined up in the slot you know. I know you're right. I think on the extremes but on the average case. It's not a quarterback to me. I think we saw this plain and simple with the cam newton. Cmc situation for you get the player who can catch the ball. You throw him the ball and how you design your offense but not a lot. Let me let me put it this way. Do you have a lot of hope for philip lindsay. No do you have hope for jordan naked. No do you have hope. For any of the other running backs in that room ingram birkhead nico collins. Kiki qt Dynasty cobb says hey what's up dynasty wise. Niko collins is the only name that i would just throw out there saying. He's coming into an nfl experience. Where the opportunity and pathways open for him. So if he comes in and seizes the day he could be better than what we're expecting because obviously nico collins not a highly drafted fantasy option even in dynasty leagues. But at least the path is there for him. Jacksonville was one in fifteen. Last year. They won their first game of the season. If you remember. They beat the colts. Which once again. I spent the offseason. Disparaging gardner menchu and then was getting flexed on in week. One oh yeah. It was great and While they they lost the next fifteen games they went through gardner and luton and glennon. Which is that's more of a glennon law firm than it is of quarterback room glennon and luton is a glutton for punishment Oh like you are yeah. I thought it was gluten. Free like they're going to be gluten free this. It's too easy okay. Also they had. They were punished a lot less here. Okay i'm a okay myself saturday minus saturday. I won't even rank you thank you. It was a. I brought up the fact that james robinson was great last year which was and did it on the offense that was thirty second in rushing attempts. That is not the normal though like using him as the template for well. Bad teams produce. Good running backs is not the normal. Least if you're the dead last and rush attempts since twenty eleven there have been two that have put up big years. And that was lamar miller. Back in twenty. Fifteen for miami and james robinson last year. Who finished seventh at the position. I think we spent a lot of the offseason. Bemoaning urban meyer taking the first round. Pick on e. t. and because of what it means for james robinson managers because you had the free square at running back in the you decided to double down But eight to me it. I think you have to translate that into what this team wants to do. And what this team wants to do is throw the football to the running back position. They didn't feel like they were equipped enough with james robinson in last year for trevor lawrence in college. Highest percentage of attempts from screens. Run pass options. Among all quarterbacks urban meyer needed to double down on the ability to do it yeah and a brought in his college teammate. That he's comfortable doing it. With james robinson season last year was awesome and they should have stuck with them. They didn't and james robinson is bordered line relevant to me i. I don't know how far he has to drop in a draft for me to take him. But it's far. I've i've passed him in so many mocks. So many real drafts. He is everything. I don't want in a player last year. He was great. I take nothing away from him. I give him all the credit but it was entirely because he was the only thing the only player touching the ball a bunch. It's like you said they were dead last in rushing attempts but he was great because he got all of them. It's similar to what we were talking. About what the steelers on the last episode lot of times people think that these running backs with a ton of rushing attempts are on a high rushing volume team. no sometimes is just. They're the only guy and that's all it was well. He's not the only guy he's not with the team and the coach and the staff that experienced him and they just brought in a first-round running back they wanna throw the ball to the running back. And while james rum's akin to that between the twenties urban meyer wants speed. So let me let me ask you a couple of questions. Pull up your for jacksonville. Because i'm gonna ask you a question about them. Because i do look at james robinson. A little bit like philip lindsey in year to where he forced himself to the top the depth chart and the team has no choice but to use them. I think he's going to be a part of the offense. Sure so the question. I ever used. You think he'll have do you think. Do you have two running backs on that team. With more than one hundred fifty touches. I do not james robinson then james robinson with one hundred and sixty five touches and travesty team with one hundred thirty three. I'm sorry not touches rajasthan. Both of them are over one hundred and fifty touches all right so looking at every team over the last five years that had two running backs with one hundred and fifty touches each okay so what. I'm projecting for this team. You have fifty five percent. Fifty five percent had both running backs to finish in the top. Thirty six only only twenty but only twenty one percent had both in the top twenty four. So you're not going to get ceiling. If they share the time if they have the type of touch count that you have projected you might get a couple of top. Thirty six's okay. So much downs for robinson catches free. T. n. but you're not getting in the top twenty four and that's that's what we need to clarify for people here because when you say. Hey it's likely that they're both in the top thirty six really fifty fifty back in sound even if it's even if it was one hundred and guaranteed that can sound better than it is because it's similar saying oh. This tight end was the tight end. Seven it's irrelevant like if you're not in the top twenty five running backs you are usually a relevant to last year. The running back thirty six just to give me some names for from last year's running back thirty six giovanni bernard the top.

Receivers to Target in the Late Rounds of your Dynasty Rookie Draft - burst 05

"Was drafted another god. I'm fairly high on From clemson at cal. I'll let you discuss him. I think about what rogers. I'm not nearly as high on rogers as they consis I think a lot of people saw him when he went to green bay. I think everybody's been so ready for the green bay packers to have another wide receiver inserted in the draft. You know and we're just intimidating in anticipating but you know. I really don't think amari rogers profiles is the number two wide receiver in the fact. That rogers is a situation is so up in the air to say the the to say the least you know. I am not projecting broader. You're gonna be there long term and if that's the case you know is jordan love gonna be all support a wide receiver you know. Are we even sure that amari rogers is better than allen. Lazard now is dead fund as the guy that they went out and got in free agency it to be the number to receiver going into last year before he opted out. You know he's back on the roster as well and he's only twenty seven years old. I think people are really forgetting about devin. Funchess to be honest with you You know this is a guy that has already been a top twenty wide receiver in his career. So i think there's a lot more competition in green bay than a lot of people are are are getting Giving them credit for and The roger situation really makes me uneasy. Amaury writers has some talent. I i just don't think he's anything special. I just think that he's at best a middle level starter of the nfl. And i don't see much of a window of him being much higher especially as long as davante adams is on that team. 'cause i just don't see that the target share i mean it's a. It's a team that clearly wants to run the ball as much as possible. So i'm not nearly as how marta riders. I i know a lot of people are people are taking them in mid second rounds now and i think that that's a mistake. I think he was the best of water. She would come out clemson for the tape stuff that i watch. Those are good points. There's a reason as to why. I say fairly high. It's because i have a lot of the same reservation that you do. But and i do. I'm generally concerned about aaron rodgers in the future in green bay with the quarterback situation. But i have to look back at amari rogers talent and what he did in his last year and clemson and what he did was ball out in my opinion. Seventy seven receptions. Thousand twenty yards seven touchdowns. Yes he had. Trevor lawrence thong him. The ball but still in a shortened season are very impressive. Numbers and amari. Rogers is a guy that has pretty much been undervalued this entire process and now all of a sudden he's going green bay people hiding him and i'm not high on him because he's going to green by on more high in him because of the talent and the potential that i see and i do think that he has the potential to be the number two receiver in green bay S a good gig. Because even if aaron rodgers is not there in a long term disturbance excellence head coach matt floor and they still have a quarterback enjoy jordan love and we really don't we haven't seen much from during love so we can't make a lot of assumptions. But he was still you still first round pick in an quarterback the has a lot of potential people were comparing him to patrick mahomes and he. He was more of a quarterback they just needed to be developed. So i think that. I think that there's a good chance that jordan love could turn into a successful quarterback if the packers ended up do and not Having rogers under center. So i think the during the love isn't a terrible option there and lathered and function function all could be a lot number two receiver in that office. But i think long term that amari. Rogers is the better prospect for may so that is why i tend to be a little bit higher on the mar bader's

"Sports Guys NFL draft. Senior bowl today and you know, we always talk about stocks. Rising stocks falling with certain players, and the Senior Bowl gives a lot of guys that opportunity but also This particular draft. You know, we could have we could have four quarterbacks taken. Everybody. How about Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields or Trevor? Launching Zach Wilson? What about trade? Lance added to that mix. Eric Welcome into CBS Sports radio. I want to start first with What you're hearing about this week at the Senior Bowl and who stopped did rise in there, in your opinion about it wouldn't pick any position you want, but whose stock rose this week at Singer Bowl practices. Yeah. Pleasure having being on the show. First of all, but, yeah, I wasn't able to go down there for the first time in several years, but They close on it of the practice tape and made plenty of phone calls. So you know it wasn't a banner quarterback here, right of the guys you mentioned, you know, underclassmen. Mack Jones, Alabama was probably the one who stood out the most. He didn't play in the game today because of Ah Of an ankle injury, just sort of playing it safe. And and that makes sense because he played well in the practice is, um, you know it stood out and do what he needed to do, But I think Kind of the offensive line group is really interesting. There was a kid for Wisconsin Whitewater who you may have seen, but the exposed belly named Quinn Miners wasn't able to have a fall season. You know all the FCS and lower level footballs got football got their seasons taken away, but he came ready to play and suffered a broken hand on Thursday didn't care practice the rest of the day. Wanted to play today before being ruled out. I think he helped himself David Maura kid from Grambling State. So this year, especially for the for the opt out guys or the players to miss time this fall. Without a combine. I feel like Small school guys had a lot to gain or somebody like Nico Collins from Michigan who didn't play this, Saul or, you know, So you know, the Pac 12 guys who opted out I think they're the ones who probably will come away with the most added value from this week. Eric when we talk about this quarterback draft because again, you know the star power at the top. Everybody talks about Trevor Laurence Generational talent, you know, armed, traveling through what he's able to do, and I don't disagree. The kids from George, I've seen him and you know Justin Fields. Obviously they talk about those two guys at the top. But are we sleeping on Zach Wilson from BYU? Yeah. I mean, I think he's the name that maybe two years ago. 2018 College season people knew his name a little cause. You know, you gotta be the Mormon man Zell nickname and then injuries really hurt him in 2019. He just didn't play as well, despite you know a couple of sets for BYU early in the season. You know, struggled against Utah's defense. I don't know what people were gonna work thinking of him coming into the season, But there were a lot of Not a day. Three projections. You know for NFL people. He still had a year of eligibility after this one. If you needed it. What you know, with BYU coming out, and they were one of the few West Coast teams to play early in the season. You know, he was putting on a show against lesser competition. People are kind of rolling their eyes. Yeah, okay. Big numbers and all that. But if you watch the tape, he made some absolutely absurd throat. Kind of stuff that You know, maybe Air Rogers and Patrick Mahomes attempt on the next level and a handful of others, So he was really flicking the ball with these putting it on the spot even bald that weren't completed..

"Yeah, no doubt about it. Let's move to the wide receivers for bed because no question for for day one. Some things. You just remind you. This is day water practices. I thought Dwayne Eskridge was clearly the star out there at a western Michigan. He caught everything thrown at him. He did. I thought I thought Tyler Wallace was a lot closer to him than maybe other people's hands. Stay. Yeah, don't come state. I thought he was phenomenal. I thought those two were clearly the stars. Of the first practice. I both those guys caught everything I saw thrown at him. They surround had a really nice catch down the left. There were some. There were some flashes of the other guys had the kid from San Jose State playing tight, and I thought that looked all right. Um, but you know, I overall I thought that I thought those two were kind of the stars of the show. On that side. The only receiver on the The only receiver on the other squad that really just came flying off the page at me was shot Smith. I thought he looked phenomenal. Yeah, There's Ah. I mean, there's there's a lot of talent out here. It's a little bit different than was last year. I felt like me a lot more name recognition, But there are certainly some guy's butt again. We'll get to the American team and I think begins far superior talent. A wide receiver of the superior quarterback, you're 100%, right. What you said. If the American team doesn't win this game coming up, it's gonna be a little bit of a massive let down. It would be getting out coached with and when you only have, like 12 plays that that's a problem. Yeah, those. Ah, big problem. Anything else stand out to you? I thought, you know, I'm trying to look through some of the names on here. Whether or not they were talking about Dillon. Read it. See the officer Lyman? Yeah. You mentioned him. Um, you know again, and I got limited exposure with the old line D line because I didn't figure like that was gonna be a big focus for the Broncos. Kind of even though the receiver's probably won't be the DBS probably will. Um, So you know, we got a good chance to talk, Tomo. You know, some friends that are inside these other organizations and what their plans are and, you know, talk to Ah, the body of the Raiders and you know they're talking about how their focus is really gonna be on the defensive secondary as well. So you know, if you're the Broncos, and you're looking at DVDs you got to remember in the division you're gonna have people that are also focused on that might be focused on some of the same prospects. Nicole Collins very quickly a guy that was expected to be not that year, but he was expected to be kind of a bit of Ah, dominant force out here. Thought the underneath stuff was ah, little rough at times, but when he got going when he got a little ahead of speed Hey, obviously showed up his elite athleticism again. Not a guy that the Broncos are necessarily gonna be targeting. But Nico Collins is kind of unheralded player. I hear that people wanted to see what he was gonna be able to do, and No, that's kind of look like Shaka Tony had a struggling day for Penn State helicopter shed also did not have a great day, as far as I was concerned, but we'll see what they do. On day two where we come back, we'll get to the American team that is next on Broncos country Tonight. Ko in his radio they started using when I was 13 Taylor is in recovery from.

"Nico Collins with a great wide receiver. I love Nico calls. I thought he did a great job. I was looking forward to seeing him come back to have a big year. I thought he would have had a big year to that being said. He's not coming back. They change. They change what they've decided. Ronnie Bell has become the leader ofthe this of the wide receiver corps. Along with along with Mike, Sam. You still along with Giles, Jackson, Corneas, Johnson. And I think the younger guys Roman Wilson is one guy that Jim Harbaugh talked about last night. The speed I mean, I'm going to say this. If you hear the coach and you hear the players talk about how much speed a kid has there really fast. I'm just telling you that kid's got jet speed. So somebody better wake up on their, um He talked about a J inning. You know he's got, but when they when coaches they're talking about you sometimes called to speech But when the players are talking about you two Players are impressed. They get impressed there your eyes and ears just like just like coaches when coaches they're talking about players, and when the players talk about that, listen to the defense of backs that that cover these kids. And who they bring And when they talk about that, I like Wow, Rolling Mills is going to be pretty pretty good little cities, if if his speed If his hands match is his speed we got we got ourselves a winner. I'm just telling I'm just letting you know that that's going to be something else because he could blow the top off it, they say. And I mean, and then they talked about the running backs. Hey went And these are the players he named he named Zack Chardonnay. Chris Chris Evans. Hassan Hospital. Haskins and Blake Cora. Have those don't start running backs he named So you know, when you got those names, and you hear that I'm just giving you Hey, those players those air the running backs that he's hyped about those running backs that get an opportunity to carry the ball. When a TTE least in the first game after that. We'll find out but at least in that first game when you hear those things, Eric Hall's name was brought up a lot really sets the tone on offense. He does a lot of things. He's good for the tight end different things like for the quarterback's. He's always shown himself and he helps the quarterback's out. I hear he's mean to me when I hear that. He's that he's that proverbial blanket that the quarterback's knee so when I hear that kind of speech that tells me, okay, we got a blanket. We got guys that that can go down the field. We got guys that can catch. We got guys that can run and we're happy with our offensive line. Not and they're doing the right thing. They're not individualizing the offensive line as you could see, not naming guys out of the office of Life. The offensive line is solid. That's what they say. That's what he keeps saying The offensive line is South. Offensive line is supposed to be a unit just one unit. That's all you do. Everybody else take it there. Name's Mitch, usually offensive line. It's a U. I think I know your offensive line coach likes that. Yet? No, You're definitely right. Jame O on 11 question. I want to leave you because I know we got to go to a break here real quick. But you know what I think? Ah, lot of people when you talk about some of the spots that you were just talking about wide receiver running back. You know, Blake Corum is the guy who is a freshman who hasn't. Actually, you know, hasn't been on an actual field before some of those wide receivers, same thing. Is it easier for? You know a wide receiver or the skilled position? Is it easier as a true freshman to come in? Obviously, times are different because we've had probably more time than normal than these kids have been used to coming in. But is it easier as a freshman coming in and with some of those skilled positions or that these these offenses are so complex these days and even wide receiver running back? It's not just Get the ball and run that there is so much going in that it will be still difficult for them to catch up. No, they'll put him in the place that they're most comfortable with. When you think about that. You don't run. You don't want to run complex offenses for freshman. You want to put them in and you want them to be successful. You especially want them to be to be successful, catching a pass going in for a touchdown. That really takes their level of confidence up to the top, So you really want to see how they how they can perform. At that level, with their confidence going high. That means you could put more into the system into the playbook the following week, because they they feel like I know, I know the book. I know the playbook. I'm getting more plays. I'm getting this They're going to stick them in in place that they're successful, out accessible Act in practice, they'll take it to the game field. They'll call a play. They'll make sure that freshman gets in and gets his opportunity. Whether it's Blake Corum. Whether it's Roman Wilson, a J hit me they will get their opportunities in place that work for them. Dad What River and Cornelius Johnson last year in talking smack after he caught a touchdown pass before Ronnie Bell. Go ahead, Dennis. No, I was just saying let it.

"You know, Nick, I'm not Saying You're an old guy. You know You're a veteran reporter columnist. You know the athletic Classified you as a senior writer, But when I was just listening to Gattis yesterday and Talk about the offense and you know afterwards, I felt so headlines about other hyping up the Michigan offense. This has to be like the less like. People are always excited about Ah new quarterback and in a new team, but I have to think that this is the least hype offense ever for Michigan when you think about the trio of ah of stars that they had at wide receiver like E. P. J was a five star. None of these guys and Ronnie Bell was was talking today. Well, he is a two or three star and, you know, Joe Miller is not a returning five star quarterback like Shea Patterson. The offensive line all got drafted and, you know, none of these guys. I barely have any starter like this. Mrs. If you're just thinking about hyper or known quantities like this has got to be the least I'll just ask you from from all of the teams that you've seen here. How can you think of it at least hyped offense heading into a season? Yeah, I think sometimes it's interesting that it sometimes you know, I couldn't think backto like 2017. The year after. You know, Michigan nearly beat Ohio State. They're in that in that game with the spot everything and then lost all those seniors. And lost. You know, Gabriel on all those guys all that talent went away, right? And they had a really good recruiting class came in, and they were all young and people thought it would be great. I remember sitting there thinking, uh, a little then you know, maybe it's going to take a minute. And of course it did you no hear, And in this case, you know, maybe it feels that way. In some ways, it feels a little familiar at times when I think even the 16 season when the only question mark there was the quarterback, you know who's the quarterback and easy going too good enough. They got guys everywhere else. That kind of thing. This one feels like one where there is more question marks than probably normal. And you know, coupled with the fact that You know, the pandemic wiped out everything in the spring. There is just no way of predicting, uh, they're just isn't there's no way of so a lot of this height stuff that I see from people is just like, sometimes it's like you just witches. Or, you know, nobody knows they haven't put they have not put pants on yet. They don't know the 30. If I think it's the first day they could do it so they don't even really know. You know, they think they know, but they don't even really know exactly. I was going to go. The coaches have a better idea than anybody else, but they don't even really totally totally know. S o. That plays a role here to coupled with what you said New Center New guards quarterback, Um maybe know Nico Collins. Obviously, Donovan gone in three blacks in Texas. So A lot of change, But I would also say this and you guys both know this change doesn't always mean something is you know, changing for the worse even if a talented player leaves It doesn't always mean the position is going to get worse. And that is something that with wide receiver room Based on what this offense asked its receivers to do. I think they're better suited in terms of personnel in terms of fit. Right now than they were last year at this time, and that's not to say I think they were more talented. Maybe in that room last year at this time, But I think in terms of fit of what Just get us to run offensively, receivers that they have in the room today. Ah! It's better if it just makes more sense. If I think that he talked about that yesterday to fundamentals are better. They improved they needed to improve last year they get over time. It was a little choppy, but You know we're going to see but I think in terms of, you know, spread the ball around. They've got a lot of guys. Not a lot of guys. We're going to be demanding. You know a lot of punches and not that other guys were demanding touches. But I'm just saying, you know it. It just feels like the personnel 50 often maybe a little bit better than it did last year doesn't mean that it's going to be better, but it does feel like it's a better fit in general. Even if maybe some talent like, you know, you're not replacing Donnie and he was crazy athlete. They don't have a guy like that anymore. So You know, we'll see. You know what needs more, I suppose on Game day and how it shakes out. No, actually, I really agree with you on this again. You're listening. Nick Bomb garner from the athletics. I think you're right on the spot. I think just because you don't have the talented names. I'm going to say the talented names. You still have talent in the in those rooms. I actually think Josh was more excited about his. Why receiver routed in anybody else in the country because he knows what he possesses in that room, and he knows what he needs to do. And He's got a quarterback as you as you pointed out an athletic quarterback who can move with feet and throw with his aunt and do things that you don't usually see. Extraordinary things can make things happen when they need when he needs something incredible toe happen, and that's the word he used Incredible. Things that that don't that you don't see out of the blue so that being said, I I honestly think it was really him being excited about coaching this office. Oh, yeah, He's excited. I mean, I don't know. I don't know how it if that's going to equate to. Ah, light forward on fire, but he's definitely excited now with then you can tell with, you know the personnel in terms of skill position, but it seems like I'll say this, too. It does seem like there's more of everyone on the same page going in the same direction here, you know, I mean, and I think maybe the making pandemic sort of put people into a situation where you really don't have a choice. You know if there's if there's a boat and everybody has one seat on the boat, you don't have time to be screwing around. You. Get in your seat. You start you start paddling that it feels A little bit more like what you wanted to feel like in terms of cohesion. They're to me just kind of on the outside looking in. You know, if we listen to these guys talk and talk to people and things like that. But again Sometimes when you lose when you lose talents And it allows other guys to come in and maybe fill roles that they didn't have an opportunity to fill before. Maybe that's a good thing, but I would also say this on the offensive line. I can't imagine it's going to be better than what it was last year. I mean, that was one of the best offensive lines in terms of, you know, power in the ground game that you.

"Least. What I think the good thing is apparently coaches or 80 years. I'm not sure which got on the phone yesterday across the conference and started talking about this now, which I think is I think that's actually weirdly overdue. Considering we're only a couple days from this cancellation, like I feel like that conversation should have been had probably before before you even got to the point where the season was canceled right because I think that one of the big reasons people have an issue with everything that's going on right now was the lack of transparency from the Big 10. We don't know what completely went into the decision and all of that, But when it comes to spring like I have a hard time we're seeing it. But it does seem like they're somewhat hell bent on trying to figure out some way for that to happen, so I wouldn't be surprised. I can't imagine it's going to be I mean, it won't be anywhere close to a 10 game swayed, I say, like four is probably your sweet spot number because to me that's kind of where Yeah, it's not really a season. It's not really a schedule, but To preserve some what? The fall season that would be coming up because if they're able tto have a spring season. You're going to be sacrificing whatever you have out of the fall. So because you can't just add, you know, sit there and say we're canceling the season due to player safety concerns. And then turn around and have them hit each other. You know, eight or 10 times in the spring and then asked them to do the same thing in the fall. So I'm sure that there's a sweet spot there. It's not going to be something that really Gets people going the way that season normally would and obviously depending on the timing of it, if I think you're gonna have to either have some indoor games so for some for some teams That's pretty easy, right? Like Michigan and Michigan State. They can just go to AA. They could just go to Ford Field. You know, Ohio State wouldn't be ideal. But like Ohio State, Northwestern. You know those types of teams could ah could go to Indianapolis, but ah You start to get pretty dicey proposition in general. Just by saying, like yes, late February, and we're gonna have games. What's the weather like in the majority of the Midwest in late February? Absolutely abysmal. I Fringe just walking from wherever I parked my car into Chrysler Center for to cover basketball games at that time of year. I can't imagine, uh You know, holds team's suiting up and taking the field at that point, But that said, if they're hell bent on it, I'm sure they're going to try it. Especially with all of the revenue that's being lost out on which I think is gonna have A lot bigger repercussions, then I think a lot of people, including the big 10 presidents realized like completely changed the face of ah of the athletics landscape in the conference. And so if if they're really Ah, Wanting to try toe recoup some of that because I don't think they're going to be able to do it Intonations, then I'm sure that they'll try to find a way to get something in there. I just don't think it's going to be I don't think that would be when we're talking like a full season. I don't think that that's really plausible or probably even possible. You make a lot of good points. But when I hear you say any games, they're gonna affect 2021 I know that they've talked about the health and safety of the players. Playing an exhibition season doesn't seem all that hot to me. Even though that being said I would watch Michigan probably play seven on seven against Eastern over the track and field building. I'd probably pay for it, but I still like, you know, I'm gonna be there for it, but it just doesn't make any sense to me to have your just playing friendlies here. You're not playing for what a a piece of the Big 10 East exhibition title or something? I don't know that That does not make sense to me. How many of these players when you look through him? Do you think that you would say? Like we know the seniors. But when you start talking about some of the guys that have decisions to make Nico Collins I always thought that he was coming back. To push himself into the first round. But I thought he had some work to do. But apparently Todd McShay didn't think so because he had him in the first round. I think Nick Eubanks is a pro. But is he? Somebody that you know is done automatically? You start going through quitting pay. I mean, how many of these guys the angry Thomas? He's an NFL guy. But Is he as good as gone? How many of these guys definitely have you written down, saying that they're probably gone. I mean, pretty much any any of the guys, you mentioned anyone that's ah, likely to be drafted. Senior and possibly even some of the third year. Guys like Jalen Mayfield is another guy that I would probably put on that list. It's gotten first round projections pretty early again, a guy that probably has to show it. Considering. I mean, he's done really well in a single season of play, But you know you want to see these guys build brick on brick, and especially on the offensive line, But I would say a kind of all of the above. Because at this point, you know You're losing a season of football's nothing is guaranteed as you you know, seeing now, especially if the NFL doesn't play. I would imagine that someone like like Niko probably would have. I would have surmised 1/3 round pick last year, Probably at worst, very well could have been a second round. The guy doesn't have the stats as the first round guys with Michigan wasn't his past. Happy is, you know Alabama, Oklahoma were last year, but I think that some of those guys would see that opportunity and be like you know what? I don't want to take me out. You know the chance the risk. Of Ah, Coming back, and not only not being able Tio have a season next year, which I don't think anyone's really intimidating that that's going to be the case by next fall. But, you know, I think that they would just look at this. You know, we don't know what the situation is going to be. What the with the Big Ten's going to look like they get even just the rust..

"Warren Michigan gloves every single game last season for West Bloomfield. Got Two by two of his best friends at the inverse. Michigan currently from last class macari page Cornell Wheeler okay. Ron Bellamy. His head coach former Michigan wide. Receiver played the pros with dolphins for a little bit. He's running towards Ohio state. Yeah so these are the type of battles. That harbaugh and Michigan need to win. This is why when people ask the question. Why hasn't Michigan beat Ohio state in the past five tries under harbaugh? Well this is why you lose recruiting battles like this. This is why. There's no reason why you should lose some someone like that. And it says a lot about your program if you're losing a A star running back grew up in Michigan. Fan wore mission gloves last year. Two best friends on the team wanted to go to mich- wanted to go to Michigan. Why hasn't he committed? Why the I? I don't understand why I'm not saying he should have committed already. But I'm just saying but they're this should be it should be Michigan's to lose but it's not. It could have people in his ears and is telling him an end credit to credit to the kid for you know checking out universities He went from Georgia. Recently you went to Ohio state yesterday And had a really good visit. That's where the crystal balls come in He now the Ohio state leads the crystal ball for Donna Edwards. So I think they've taken a commanding lead of the Of his recruitment. And I think this is. This is this is why this why those still time time from the you know. Yeah and but I'm speaking. I know there's time I'm speaking as passionate Michigan Fan. That just walked in Rocko and Rocko spindler Often Clarkston Michigan number forty ranked. You know a player in the nation he is. He's another battle. Ohio states coming on hard notre dame. It's always seems like Notre Dame Ohio state but with Edwards. He's he's also a national recruit Alabama. Nick Saban stopped out. Stop by the School Notre Dame Brian. Kelly Georgia Kirby Smart. They're making a push man. They're making a push. Those aggravates me when was Homegrown talent good talent to Ohio State. But it goes. You know to me if I'm an outside recruit looking in and I see the number to recruit recruiting or the running back. Excuse me ranked thirty eighth nationally. And he goes to Ohio state. The arch rival of Michigan. Why WOULD I go there? If I'm an artist kid and I'm like and I'm a five star four star recruit. Why SHOULD I go to? Michigan is if the kids that are in the State of Michigan. Don't go to Michigan. Forty five minutes away while while they WANNA do yeah. You're right about someone from Ohio. WanNa leave Ohio. Go to Michigan. Well it's from Indiana. That's the point. Ohio state lacks down. The state of Ohio locks it down says we're GONNA take the best players and you can take the scraps right. That's exactly what they're saying in Michigan. They're saying we dare you to come in the state of Ohio and try and recruit recruit against us. Can you imagine going to recruits? Living Room in San Michigan obviously sells itself academically. You know athletically. They're they're a premier school just like Ohio state but the problem is is that you can't you can always sell hope for so long right wall. We're hoping to beat Ohio state. And I think Devon Bush put it great you know put it had a statement. He said you cannot hope that Ohio state doesn't show up. Yeah you have to show up. You have to show up. It's on youth not on them. You know underperforming you to perform what whether it be in the recruiting whether it be on the field to be in preparation and that's and that's a great point. I mean preparation recruiting. You know I'm like I said I'm I'm I'm a big recruiter guy. Saw could talk about recruiting all day. But you know just and just kinda mentioned some of the recruits that were battling Ohio state against You Know Rocco Spindler another four star Donovan Edwards. Obviously we mentioned him specifically from the State of Michigan Garrett Dellinger offensive tackle saw. I mean these are some of the names that Michigan needs to get these guys. Those guys don't go. How state locks down there guys. And that's what I'm saying like they. They they lockdown state in you know midst. It's disappointing to see bill so You know I think that is that. It's not like we're losing like Michigan State which was like a you know in state school right because if there was any of it all right whatever it's always squirts here. You're losing to Ohio state because there's always that Alabama and Auburn for example that that kind of thing Mo- most people are probably with Alabama. But there's a few that would want to go to Auburn. But they're not weaving Alabama and Auburn and going to you know. Lsu rar right right. They're not and that's and that's a that's a good point you bring up. I mean back when Jim. Harbaugh had his His first class we picked up or SEAN GERRY. Picked up Devon Bush You know L- Avert Hill guys like that but the two thousand seventeen class was interesting because he got down on people's Scott Nico Collins out of Alabama Right they beat Georgia and Alabama for Nico Couns Nico. Collins is clearly one of the best receivers. They've had in a long time this along with Ronnie Bell mean but and that's and people who say that you know recruiting isn't that big could point to Ronnie Bell on to Star and say well you know you're saying they're not you know they're not recruiting but sometimes you have a historic route. Who Doesn't love fifth-round round pick? Who DOES WELL I? I will say that twenty eighteen class which was ranked twenty. Second Nationally is shaping up to be probably harbaugh's best recruiting class and that was not an you know Aidan Hutchinson. Hassan Haskins has come on Hassan. Hassett was just barely in the top thousand nationally ranked de Ronnie Bell wasn't ranked at all so they have had a good. They've had miss. Twenty twenty class. Looks Pretty Good? Twenty twenty class. Yeah I like I like the twenty twenty class like the class. Dachshund Hill in two thousand nineteen So looking forward to the To the spring As far as what are you expecting? What are your expectations for the the running back position as far as who do you think's GonNa stand out do you think they're gonna go with kind of star one a one? B With Charbonnet Haskins or. Where do you think they're gonNA go without the other due to punch to do w Sherman Ano- go ask other nothing that'll be the game plan going forward? Yeah I think Chris Evans obviously he's GonNa factor in their play. Corum the true freshman so I think that as far as as far as the The rest of the offense. I think that the offensive line is going to be the biggest question mark obviously having only one returning starter with Jalen Mayfield And then we have one guy transfer or the declare for the draft all Caesar res. No there's another guy offense alignment. Yeah Yeah I haven't heard anything recently But I I I expect the Lying to look off his line to look a lot younger You're GONNA have guys like Jalen. Mayfield Ryan Hayes. I think that carpenter the redshirt freshman. They've said he's you know he just did. Thirty nine wraps up to twenty five. Which would have been which would have been second best at this year's combine so. I mean that's that's pretty good It's grown man right there but yeah I mean I'm like I mean you know they make a big deal out of it but you know we. We could do that no problem so but now. I think Zack Carpenter. I think on the on the guard. Positioning your F chuck. I think finally he's GonNa get his chance to start. Select still there. Yeah I know seems like an eternity. But he's he's a redshirt junior this year so He came with the class of Don for people's Jones So that two thousand seventeen class that was ranked number five in the nation. I remember those days. Yeah right yeah now. We're now ranked fourteenth so that receiving classmen with You had done with people's Jones you had Tariq black at New pollens YEP. Ooh What how is harbaugh? GonNa look over Martin. If all those guys you know but what if all those guys make the NFL and they have dis disagree. Yeah I think. I think you're see people's Jones goal. I think JAI second round in my opinion just based on his athleticism as potential. I think coaches would love that he could be like a golden tate calver receiver. Yeah I think he's going to be a pro. I don't think he's GonNa be superstar but I think he's GonNa be a decent pro. I think Nico Collins. He's going to be probably a really. I think he's going to be really good pro- I mean he's six four to twenty three runs at four four six four four six the other day with Jazz Gada so I think that he is. He's a great player. Obviously I think Tariq Black Trent he transferred out so you know he had a lot of potential he did he blackout. He just had he deal- dealt with injuries for the course of his career. And I think it was unfortunate. Could it be? You know 'cause we always talk about how how The receivers are being under utilized. You know like you say down when People's Jones Nickel Collins you know. We think he was way underutilized. Maybe treat lack was. Hey I'm under utilized to your elbow somewhere. Where though you use me more absolutely. I think that absolutely has a factor. I think if you look at it I thought Nico Collins only I should say you only had he had thirty seven catches which Ronnie Ronnie Bell actually had more. I think it's forty four catches for Ronnie Bell but new house a playmaker. He's a N- Miss Match up nightmare for some of these smaller corners. And he's he's a possession guy too so it's not like yes you're gonNA give him the ball and he is going to take the house you gotta give them. You know I mean like seven eight. I actually think he's perfectly capable of taking the house. I just I. I'm sure can but he to me is more of like a more of a possession. Yes more possession receiver. I'd with that that sentiment but I think that when when you look at it. Nico should've had fifty catches in my at least fifty. You probably would have one. Maybe a game. Won't you know one more game going to differ so it could have made a difference? I think that the fact that they had all this talent at the Watson version and then to see Assan Haskins Act Chardonnay. Come on in the season. This is going to be a good offense. Listen THEIR RUNNING. Game is good. It's good you'll it? It's not you know top in the country and then it's really good game against Ohio state The first half they're they're running the ball that's that's how they found success running the ball. Yeah I agree I mean aside has the second happened just veered away from that as some reason but they were doing fine running the ball you know because just on that gone off play actions on off I mean I think if you look at the returnees skill position starters You know you've got obviously stack that running back stick their wide receiver again. You know my sane ryssdal excuse me Josh Jackson Nico Collins Ronnie Bell I think. Aj haning Roman Wilson are going to factor into their.

Michigan Football Chatter: Nico Collins and Donovan Peoples-Jones might come back to the team

"Niko Collins down of peoples' Jones there's a lot of rumors are some good vibes out there that both of these guys might come back after treat black just announced late last week that he was he was going to enter the transfer portal and of any schools have been associated with him yeah I know a lot of people started following him on Twitter but in that same vein nickel Collins and down hills Jones some reports out there that here they would like to come back for their senior year Zack and if you've heard anything like that but what we'll talk about here is if they get both of them back what that could mean for Michigan football in two thousand twenty means a lot right it's ME builder baby to their their five most dangerous players on the team L. Collins actually played up to statistically people Jones I thought was big in some key spots but maybe didn't find it I mean that's that's what it came down to is their draft grade we just we're going over the CVS draft maybe we did it during a break instead of on the show but calling the people Jones were what fourth and fifth round picks I don't yeah I was surprised by how low they were you know I'm a big I'm a big believer in go when someone will pay you because you know life is short in the NFL but at same time you're twenty twenty one and you come back and improve your stock yeah I I'd say more power to you because you have that opportunity will be interesting to see what they actually do because I think it would be a testament to what they believe the quarterback passing game situational be like next year if they think that they can move up in the draft with another year what I don't know someone asked me on Twitter you know what they could they wait until the fifteen ball practices are done and get a feel for Joh Milton or don't McCaffrey and I would bet that at this point they they probably know I mean either one of these guys is supposed to get the starting job in the bowl game I mean they're going to go out there and treat this like the final game of two thousand nineteen not the first came in two thousand twenty and preparing themselves for next year and so you know if they don't know already what what Joh Milton until McCaffrey are I don't think that's gonna change and bull crap here but I do agree with you I I do think that is a a kind of a connection to this if you decide to come back you're not coming back if you think like man V. the quarterback room and the passing game is gonna regress considerably here because all you're really come back for is if you think that the last three or four games when they were both being targeted you know six and seven times a game and have an opportunity to catch five balls a game if that's consistent what's gonna be next year now you can put up those bigger numbers now you can catch the eye of more scouts and so yeah I would think that be a very positive sign for mission of both those guys come back for the quarterback room and also for obviously the wide receivers I mean we're already you know everybody's really excited about Ronnie bell and the rise of Josh Jackson like senior still you had these two guys in there and what you know that I mean if you're Joe motor Joe McCaffrey said yourself like all like you know we're in the red zone I'm I have a tough time finding open perceiver Hey I can just check the ball to the corner nickel counts gonna go get it how much is that help a young quarterback my goodness yeah in the end they can get better still I don't think it's out of the question that in how people Jones and Colin they missed a lot of spring practice they missed a lot of summer practice I I don't know their health situation I don't I don't know enough but I imagine it would be healthier this year could be and then you build that chemistry bill that report and players get better I a you know it's everyone gets better different speeds but I always laugh when people are like yeah I've heard enough about such and such improving no players improve when they play college football for a long time that's why a lot of you know there's not too many freshmen who are the best players in the country you start to see it more now but usually it's the juniors and then the easy casual senior but it's it's the it's a big deal it would be it would significantly pollster Michigan's offense of potential it would raise some questions because you how do you use them do you still go pass first even if you're changing quarterbacks but I think it would be a net positive for Michigan some players should not come back there are some players and more so in other teams that I notice in Michigan where they come back in it and I think both sides kind of regret it because there's not a lot of you know it's a you're you're thinking about the NFL too much or the chemistry is off with some of your new teammates I think both of these guys I mean if they're if they're said to come back I think it's a it's a big win for Michigan Brandon if if these guys come back amber Thomas is expected to come back we pay last night at the show me awards said that he expects to come back if all these guys that could have I know we look at this list last week I think it was on your hosting day the six players who are all eligible to go pro all of them came back does that saying anything about what they think Michigan football could be in two thousand twenty yeah I think that's fair I mean are you know if they've got a chance well some of it does come down to the whole draft great thing too I mean if these guys are thinkin of animal finally you know realize my dream and go pro and then they get a draft grade back of like fourth or fifth round that might be a little bit of a you know a little bit of a blow to the ego and also just a just a dose of reality like okay I'm not me maybe I'm not quite as good as I thought and I can prove it I can prove that I am better than this by coming back so I think it's there's probably several factors but I certainly think that's one of a might like these guys want to win they're not gonna come back if they think they're going to be worse than they were this year that they have no chance of meeting Ohio state or that they have no chance of possibly making it to the playoffs like I think that certainly factors in this is big time college football they came to Michigan for a reason and they want to win and I certainly think that when you're as talented as Michael Collins and out of people's own our they're probably thinking like okay they could be pretty good next year and we come back we can be really good that maybe we like it also out of his car arrogance our confidence or cockiness or whatever you want but they know that they're making the team better so why not come back and try to take it to another level another year and Josh gad as a system from everything I've heard players tend to like Josh gad as I know he's pretty hard core on the sidelines he gets in guys faces but I think everybody also respects and he's a younger guy he's a really he's a really detail oriented coach I feel like he thinks players think that he's getting them better I think there's a lot to it but I don't I think I think it does speak to like where Michigan is a maybe wear those guys think they could be next year and I I think you got it I think you got a look between the lines a little bit and maybe realize it like they look there think in those two quarterbacks if you're pretty damn good we saw it we think with another year like it could be special with them I think that's got to be part of what they're thinking about yeah absolutely I mean if you can if if if you told me going Donovan Hey what we did the last three games we're gonna do that over twelve games next year and they had now have evidence and they can believe it and you've got some else tell you like Hey you're you're projecting great right now is third or fourth round I mean to me unless it's an easy decision because you're still given up you know some money but are you are you but you gotta put on the best position to be successful the next level and I think they'll be coming back see the reason the CBS sports things also a project to pick like a sixth round pick an obscene somethings I have them all a first round pick the good news is for these guys is that they have much more trusted sources like telling them what projections are verses like that just going up the randomness of every sports website out there I'll say this too in in Donovan people Jones and eco Collins cases specifically if they come back and

Niko Collins Jones Twitter Milton
