But he's reformed but did most of his atrocities back in the first liberian civil war in the nineteen nineties. But he's a changed man now guys. He wears clothes when he charges into his new battlefield of church. He has calmed. Yeah barely though. I've been to mention that. He's wearing a poncho like a one layer poncho he could. He could pop that off very clear now. He's almost naked some nickens when they call him. He's still just like a flash decision back to being button because he's used to eat kids and he's just at church now. He did west. He has a compound where he brings. It kind of adds up. Yeah exactly you got some repenting to do. He has a compound where he brings his in former child soldiers to learn how to put down the machete and pick up the bible. He said over five hundred children of pass through his bible school since he stopped massacring drugging and eating their cut-out hearts around the early two thousands. It's just like it's just like remember. When i used to assault you now i want. You hewlett jesus assault. You exactly open your heart. Like i used to open your hearts. It's just right like some of these kids. He may have like eaten their older siblings. Yeah yeah yeah. Who knows what's going on that compound he says is teaching them right. The right thing stallone set at the end iraqi. Four if i can change and you can change everyone can change. And also the thing is they haven't set up war crime court and they haven't set up a war crimes court in liberia. That's the real thing. So you know are several general button. It's just starting out new careers over there. Liberia nice second chance. No crimes opportunities can't prosecute them. Okay hey if you think. Immigration laws are tough in the us or the uk with brexit and stuff. Listen to what's going on in new zealand. They aren't letting fatty in bad news for us. I guess we can only visit. Where the shot. The lord of the rings meet thirty five year old. Mongolia bez zoo hoot besson mandalay bez rude and who who weighs in at about two hundred eighty pounds so she. She's wearing a shirt. "I have to stop living games at age. Sixteen like why. And i was we would have these conversations with each other like wild like now tell them. You're literally what i thought. I could never be like your grown fine women loving what you do living in your truth and i just never thought of that can happen and they were like no joy. You totally got this. Of course like we're just doing what we love. And i'm like oh also yeah. Twenty twenty was definitely a bout of craziness but yeah it was them all of them that got me through girlfriend and my cousins and and they're basically my cousins to to key in Sinead yeah they. They're the ones that really got me through this. That is outstanding. what is One website you recommend the people often. I would say link tree because the thing about being a content creator you have to be on all these platforms and of course you know you. Just don't have one thing. You don't just have a facebook. you got instagram. You've got twitter. you got twitch tiktok now which. I haven't even tackled that crazy. You have your youtube. You got your this and you got your that. Emily link tree was something that was recommended to me while i was at my Audio engineering job. Because you need a space. If you couldn't afford a website you need a space to have all your links true. And i know that there are other websites that are doing this now but i still have a link is i'm just gonna push link tree But that was the one thing that i always thought about like all. I have all these social media links. I have to you know if you wanna see me on instagram here. That if you wanna see me on the i have the same name for everything. If you have the space just put my name in. But nowadays i could just be like. Hey look at the lincoln my bio and you could just list those links on one area. So i just say if you don't have a link definitely have that what's.

"Doing that job. I was watching and observing taking notes. Not because i thought. I'm going to have a podcast day for real for real by was like. Wow so this what they do. They're they're being themselves. And this seems pill familiar. Like i could. Maybe i can do that. One day and sitting down and taking notes and going through the events the different events in seeing other people and seeing the progression of their podcast. Like you know what joy for real if you did have a podcast. What would you do. And i was like. You know what. I'm gonna have this idea and it took me even months to even make a note a serious note like joy podcast ideas and i would just start writing what i could do. I notice what was different from other people's that they're doing they're not doing and i'm like okay. Well i know if i were to have something. Maybe i would do it this way and if i have to do something i need to have music. I need to have this and to have a theme and you have this. So all. Those months of watching other people and being a part of their journey inspired me to write. What my journey could be like. And then i sat on it for months and months. I didn't even want to tell anybody my idea. Because i was so scared that someone was going to steal it and i was like i'm not i can't tell you what it is. 'cause people would ask me joy..

It has been journey I am so grateful to be a part of a community. Called black rel gamers. Now when i mentioned i went to playstation experience in two thousand fifteen i went by myself and oh twenty fifteen in two thousand sixteen. I went by myself in two thousand fifteen. I made a friend who was also black girl from california. Because that's where playstation experience usually happens in california. So i went and i didn't have a community. I didn't have friends that were black to go with into talk to so after. I came back from Please experience twenty fifteen. I was like well. I should find. I mean we exist right like we exist black girls. I mean i exists so there should be other black women that an and this is not to say. I need to just have black women friends. No one said anything. No one knew anything. I'm the first on the first person in my family. My immediate family but my first person in my family to like graduate college and no one had the knowledge. My parents didn't go to college. My mom did but like you know it was brookdale. Same thing and i was just kinda like well. No one was out here looking out for us they can. They can allow us the bar all this money but then like you said. I didn't know anything about a w. two until i had to go to work. I didn't know about the taxes that they were taking out all. I knew that. I can ask for this much amount of money and i can buy a laptop with it because i needed one to finish school and then i gotta pay this back all right well. Hopefully that i have a communications degree. There's going to be a job out there right now. There is no job. And that's i'm glad that we're going into this aspect of of that because again right. Now you're branding your business and everything is yes. You had some some building blocks from your from your academics but at the end of the day everything else you were just learning on your own and because of people sharing the information with you and this just goes back to what i was saying before like you go into school. You're learning all this stuff and it's like you're checking off boxes. Oh mom and dad data graduated high school. What do i do now. You go to college okay. I graduated college. What do i do now. I get a job and the thing about it is that that conventional level of thinking just as non existent and yes with the pandemic. Now i always tell people the pandemic even though it crippled so many things it also revealed a lot of inefficiencies. Yes yes i was. I was talking to my parents about that too In which..

I had my logo a shirt since twenty probably seventeen. I just never told anyone. I never advertised it at all. But she's like you know people are gonna wanna buy your stuff right people out here in. You should have that okay. And then i have people from the community My community that have been watching me for a long period of time like you should have your own merge. I'm like really like you would actually buy something from me. So i had someone buy a shirt with my local on it and say oh my god so then my girlfriend who is hello creative and very talented. She had all these ideas all these which blessed because not a lot of people have that people go to like fiver. They go and they find other people that they could higher but she's the in house like i call her my manager my miniature bibi manager Artists lay go-to person. The one that has allowed the ideas behind the channel. How it's operating like that's her too so it's not an alone operation. But she was like. Hey what if. I just drew this or hey remember you said that thing on stream like what have we made that assured or what have we made that a hoodie. Like so that was kind of like. Wow someone actually believes you believe in my brand enough to put it on t. spring because that's what i used t- spring and it was one two three like you upload the picture up there on t. spring and then it's the listing goes live and then you just wait obviously you promote you promote the store but then you kind of just see. Does anyone wanna buy your stuff. So that happened last august where someone actually bought my shirt for the first time and i was like. Oh my god like you do care. so then. it's spiral that it spiraled edge snowballed into okay. What else should we put there. Okay what else should we do. And then of course. i'm excited. I never had this happen before. The only time i ever got paid from doing anything i love was through youtube which is once every. I guess three years and a one payoff from twitch. And that's and that's all. I've been doing until recently i think to to hear that. And it's one of those things that i wanna. I wanna really reinforce to a lot of our listeners. Is that you don't need the full. You know five thousand dollars worth of equipment to become a content creator or youtube creator as as joyous so so eloquently stating you can very easily start with the bare minimum if you're engaging the games you're playing or fun and you're genuinely into it. It really is the cliche. If you build it they will come For sure yes are. And of course like i didn't want to rely on my friends. Of course people like you gotta watch. You gotta watch me. Hey i'm going live. I'm going live but that's annoying like if you if people are gonna watch you they're gonna watch you because they want to. If you're begging people to watch you. And sino i made a whole youtube video about the five tips of being a twitch stream. I just made up a video and make another one. But i didn't wanna be like. Hey friends make sure you promote me as a twist streamer as a content creator. You have to be your own. Pr you have your own marketing. You have to do that. "Sports talk It is brought to you by Indian, a donor network. Jonah's from the I S C Sports network. Mary in University 88 76 winners over the University of ST Francis. I, John, You gave me a brief overview, marrying with the lead at the half four point lead if I recall And then have an impressive second half What fuels that run in the second half? Well, ah, lot of it was by Christian Stewart there. Bob Christian Stewart had 13 of his 20 points in the second half. The Ron colleague grab ended up Just doing really, really well, and he made some incredibly tough shots at a couple of big free throws. But really, I thought would feel the wind for Marianne was their defense, which head coach Scott had. He loves to hang his hat on. They outrebounded ST Francis and also they had 10 different players for in this game. That was to me the biggest difference and then pulling away in the first half, and then they were able to withstand the run by ST Francis in the second half mentioned Antoine Cushion Berry before the break you might remember him from when he played a war in central heating, all preseason Crossroads First team member and He scored 28 points Now, A lot of those came at the free throw line. But that's because he was so hard to defend that Mary and had to Fallon just to stop him. But aside from that he did not get enough help. The leading scorer for ST Francis is actually David D. Hop and Eva came into the game today, averaging 20 points and 11 rebounds. He had 27 points on Wednesday night. Mary and held him to just 10 points. Hey, wasn't some foul trouble that played a little bit of a role, too, but to hold their leading scorer to just 10 points and Basically put all that pressure on Antoine Cushion Barry to do pretty much all the work was a big reason Why Mary and won the game. Marrying university moves to five and 12 and one of Crossroads League action. 88 76 win over ST Francis. John Herrick. What a great great opportunity I have to speak with. You always look forward to it, John. Enjoy the weekend. Thanks for the call. Coach. It's always good to talk to you, too. Thank thank you so much. The man from the I s C Sports network joins me now. The ubiquitous Greg Rakestraw started his day and I'm a lucky man that he was able to start the day with me at the Farmer's insurance. Coliseum as the U. P Y Jaguars beat Tennessee State 69 66. Then he jets down the Southport and does the form tip off classic. Greg Greg Straw. Thanks for your time. How's the voice working right now? The voice is working very well. I five games last Saturday, too, prepared me for five games today. I didn't have about like an hour and a half break in between games one in games, too. So, of course, that I get a get three overtimes in the final two games combined. You have to test a little bit more, but I get paid to go to ball games Living Bob last creature I would think so. Now let's start with the form tip off classic and work our way back some exciting games. Take me through these games. So the first game that I had was actually game number two. So it was very West Side beating Southport by a score of 60 51 in the story for Gary West Side is Jalen Washington, and he has been one of the more highly regarded recruits in what is now the junior class for some time, but the injury bug has bitten him hard. During the course of the boys basketball season heading into this year. He had appeared in seven games in the last few years. Seven has a freshman before a shoulder injury cost in this season's been torn a C L cost in the entirety. His sophomore season. Young man made three threes in the first half. He finished with 23 points and Jerry West Sides win and Jerry West side of the team that frankly, we should be talking about more in class for a because they have not only challenge 6 FT nine got Mason Nicholson and 6 FT. Nine. They've got Christian Christmas at 6 FT five. Tomorrow. Peterson, who is a really talented point guard, that is getting some mustn't division One looks well, first box is a really good basketball team. They didn't lose last night. Forget Hammond squad. Whiteside is now four and one South Cortisone three, but they are playing a lot of soft, more. Tian Miller, Nickens Lemba on the ball kid amongst those so Eric Brand has a talented team of South board, but I think we'll get better as the season goes along, but Jerry West side deserves to start being in the conversation. At least in the northern half of the state. As far as boring as concerned, Okay. Sounds good. Next game. Just just sir. I'm sorry. Go ahead. Game number two for me and number three the day so North Harrison Anvari play and Bar Review, and I obviously were their new Viking arena on Tuesday when they be boarding in South 41 36. Since that time, they got a 30 point victory over South Ridge last night because southward seem to connect Colson Montgomery, but they got North Harrison and full strength and Bari and give him what for today. 61 38. Was the final score their language. Hatton carried the mail for North Harrison. But it was truly a balanced effort cards. Hope was in double figures. Bryce Graber, same could be said for Hagen death. It was a bar, a team that we thought played well played hard against Lincoln South, and we start on Tuesday. Tonight. Their offense was firing on all cylinders. They got three point field goals from all five starters in today's game, too. Josh Johnson's team they have now played four times in the last eight days have won all four of those games. And in none of those games, Bob had anybody scored more than 38 points against bar Reeve. Josh has the best team in one, eh? He may have one of the best teams in the state period. Their impressive There's no, There's no question. Okay, you're you're starting to pick up some moment. Um, let's go through that next game. All right. So with that Silver Creek in black all Christian play for a second time in as many years in the foreign tip off Classic last year was 77 75 Silver Creek, winning with Cooper's a Kobe scoring 35 in the winning effort last year. This year. There is no trade Kaufman yet for Silver creatures come back at some point this season but has yet to play black are Christian race down through a 20. Do for lead. At one point in this game. It was double figures at halftime. Silver Creek never let in the second half, but they got it tied at 66 to send it to overtime. Silver Creek would take a leading the first overtime. It's 70 to 71. Two teams will finish the first overtime stands. It tied again finally found some sort of amount of the Silver Creek. A stupid, Jacoby fouled out as Brandon Northern that fouled house. There simply wasn't enough Gas left the tape for Silver Creek and eventually black God. Christian pulls away in the double overtime for a 94 84 victory. There were three players that had more than 30 points in this game. Jacoby was 32 northern with 33 Zane Burke had over 30 for black are Christian Taylor first was solid as he always is. It finished with 25 points for black on Christian again, These two teams are the favorite into a and 38. Silver creatures Now lost, you know, in back to back nights, but again, it's without trade Kaufman as soon as he comes back for Silver Creek again to me, no offensive, the great teams and three a like Heritage Hills. And Hammond, Ember buff and others. We caught the returns against me, so quickly becomes the favorite in class Three. All right, so that's pretty. That's a hard act to top, but the final game how that go That went over time as well on Lawrence North, just the third victory of the season. All of them have been in close fashion. So far. Ln is played three times they have scored in the fifties. All three times, as there has has has not told it all three times, and they have won by combined total of seven points of they played a really good team Archbishop more out of Cincinnati there, led by Logan Duncan, who was gonna play at Indiana University next year. Couple of likely other division One players on that team. 66 senior a noise 64 senior Alex Williams on then my hey free, who did a great job generating their offense in the second half. Moeller Trail of halftime by seven. Jumped out to a 40 35 lead by the time we got towards the end of the third quarter tomorrow advance had a fantastic night for Lawrence. Dorothy a 22 points in regulation. This game ended up being tied at 50 50 in regulation. We get overtime, it is tied down the stretch again. Tomorrow. Advances fouled with 1.1 seconds left to go Makes one misses. One Ellen hangs on the wind. 58 57 to run their record of three. You know, all right now take a breather. We'll come back. We'll talk about the game that started the day, okay? Sounds good. Greg Greg store from the I S C Sports network. See why he's He's the best. Nobody's goods. Greg Greg strong, We'll come back after.

Which we're going to bring to you in a little bit because we're sort of getting a little bit of the insight into what these teams are going through You find yourself admittedly sort of zoning out in some interviews because it feels like a Miss American pageant some of these canned responses bobby and then there are some guys who you'll hear later in our podcast Kenny. Willa kiss the Michigan State Defensive End. I mean this guy just jumped off the page to me. I haven't watched this film admittedly says it hasn't jumped off in terms of film. I'm GONNA remember can electrician. I think you will too after you hear a little bit from him and then at the NFL network. We did a mock draft the other night cowboys on the Board at seven. She did you get Joe. Borough I did not get Joe Borough but it is fascinating in keeping with the spirit of the NFL network. I won't give away my pick but we have certainly talked about him in these podcasts. He was there at seventeen and I think he'd be a nice fit for the cowboys Real Quick Bobby. Let's get to the Nickens Sam's investigative journalism that took place earlier this week. If you're not from Dallas Nickens Samson's estate house at a lot of cowboys. Frequent as somebody on twitter told me my bourgeoisie was showing joked win. As in it. That IS JINX COWBOYS INSIDER. She doubles nickel. Sam's insiders well one hundred. That's A. That's a big niche for her. That's where I did my Dez Bryant. Sit down four hours after he was cut from the team but TMZ had reported that the police department there in. I believe it's prosper. Were Dak Prescott is living had come to his house about calls of thirty people there for a party during the pandemic. Now look that has already been on our radar in this podcast. We talked about throwing desks in the controversy that created but here he is once again in the news which I have got imagined gives the cowboys all sorts of headaches. Because he's been the guy that hasn't given them any headaches over the years End The police showed up as it turns out. The police left after. Not being able to confirm that there were more than ten there I've talked to some people that are familiar with situation. I was told there were absolutely not more than ten people and I just waited because I saw the picture. And if you've been to nick and sans the smoking gun. That TMZ was using to prove that there were all these wine glasses around the table. In in this setup that reads Natalie glow sticks on the table suggests there had been a party. A Dak Prescott House Bobby. I've been to Nicosia multiple time. Exactly the artwork is very distinctive in there. And there's also this champs locker the champagne locker that is this cooler behind this large table and then boost to the left does not Dak Prescott House and then when I reached out to my sources at nickens stands as it were sure enough. They've done what a lot of us are doing. They shot assume video earlier in the day and showed what a party would look like when the pandemic was over. That was then I guess. A picture of that zoom video made its way to TMZ so via we take away from this really is that gets better friends. I was told that not only. Did they. Not Order. A ton of food. But Samir the the head chef they're always throws in a ton of extra food through an extra food and Dak even did another solid. He provided extra money to their cause which is now currently a feeding medical providers. So maybe if we had just killed the layers back a little bit. We would've seen that. Maybe it wasn't as bad as it looked still that my man trying to get paid to be to be fair. We don't know that DOC is not such a fan of Nick and Sam's that he designed his dining room as an exact replica. Question to nasty. I can always be better journalists but I can tell you this much. I've never been in deck Prescott thome but I can tell you that that is in fact nick and San unless he completely replicated it which I find very hard school I can. I would almost guarantee there's not. There weren't ten more than ten people there. Because you didn't get the invite. I feel like if there was a thirty person party. There that Jane Slater would have been there with a firsthand report. I get quite frankly I was. I was a little upset about it. But you know I talked about. I've taken this quarantine seriously I haven't seen a soul. No the zoom rooms and me and you sitting here talking like this that's That's kind of been your most face to face interaction. We've had a lot of face to face interaction bobby. So I've appreciated US spending all this extra time with you interviewing these draft prospects So wanted to put that went to bed and I'm not giving my opinion said many of it On just telling you. I don't know whether he had a party or not. Those details as it relates to me sort of doing some fact checking and there you have it pre-draft whispers hearing at the water cooler and and as we lead up to that. Seventeenth pick. Bobby show this is the. This is a weird year. And we were talking about this before we started taping. That usually you do get a better sense like I mean I know you were all over. Laden Vander ashes twenty eighteen. And you're Oliver Tristan hills going to be the pick and twenty nineteen people said. Who and. I don't think that the cowboys haven't probably. I'm trying to cowboys. Probably have zeroed in on somebody in a similar fashion like they did with Layton and Tristan I just don't know that the way everything is set up this year and and the way that we're not really getting the thirty visit so we can't see that narrowed thirty list of guys that they interviewed We can't kind of sort through that which has always been a reliable measuring stick and so because you can talk to just about anybody. We see them interviewing top one hundred running backs or like a first on running back that we know they're not taking and so it's a. It's a little bit more of a guessing game now. There is one advantage and that is even though the cowboys were not able to conduct any of their thirty national visits. They did get some scheduled and so the the closest thing we can find as who has gotten that who who got that scheduled who one of the ones who potentially got one of those first few thirty visit scheduled and as much as cowboys fans seem to be panicking about it on social media The the interesting Kenneth Murray we know Kenneth Murray the linebacker to Oklahoma had one and I think a lot of people have been saying. Well maybe that was just an outlier. Maybe they were thinking. Maybe he's trade back guy and that's just a specific player. Well I was talking to somebody this week. I can confirm that. They actually also added to their thirty. Visit Liz Patrick Queen the Linebacker at Lsu and Patrick Queen and Kenneth Murray are the only two linebackers would get picked like those are the only two linebackers who would potentially be in the in the teens to twenty range and so the fact that the cowboys used to of they're very precious. Thirty visits on them tells me that they're very serious about potentially adding the linebacker with their first pick and what are the implications of that does that mean is that an indication of they're going to be using more linebackers? Mike Nolan's played a lot of three four. Mike McCarthy's defenses that the new linebacker coach they hired Scott Mc early. Scott McCullough coached linebackers in three four system before. So so maybe that's a signal that they're going to be using more linebackers. Maybe it's a a signal that you know. They're not happy with the depth that we saw last year when Lleyton Vandross went down and Jalen Smith struggling they they struggled and they need to flesh that out. Maybe that's what they felt was what was really falling apart for the defense But whatever it is they definitely are interested in linebacker at seventeen and so as much as I think that would stunt people and then send some people into a panic. I think people need to prepare for that possibility where people were stunned in in a panic when they picked late and vander rush at linebacker remember two years ago. They didn't they couldn't understand any ended up being Sean Lee. Two point before he got himself injured a couple points. I want to bring on that front. You and I've been receiving. Some conflicting information about late vandross are reached out to someone close to the situation. I was told. The injury is not a concern There's been some speculation about that. The last time I reported on late in Bandra she was working out in Idaho where he has been during this pandemic with his lovely wife Mattie I've been told it's more to the point of what? You're talking about. Bobby this is going to be more a three four linebacker set in that we could see. Jalen Smith potentially rushing more. So maybe they need more linebackers. Maybe they want they certainly had. They certainly struggled a little bit in that area last year to your point win which went down which is unfortunate. Because when Sean Lee was going down we would see these teams lose more games than they were winning late. Missiles in for Sean Lee his rookie year in good about things. And then you felt good. The fact that Sean Lee came back on the team friendly deal and he's done it again for you this year. Because I'm telling you right now I've had teams asking me about Sean Lee Where the cowboys are on him. Because there was an interest from other teams in an unlike some of these other players. He didn't choose to go to Las Vegas. He didn't choose to go to the REDSKINS team in the past independent interest in him instead he once again stuck around for dolls which I think is a good thing. I think it's a good thing. And I think that everybody should be encouraged by how much he seemed to be able to maintain his health throughout all of last year. Which is always a concern with him. He was pretty healthy throughout the whole year and he he played his best football. And I will always go back to you and I know I. I think the biggest issue that happened last year as people still trying to sort through what happened with that eighteen. I firmly believe the problem with that team. Last year. Was they lacked any sort of real leadership on defense and that was partly because Sean Lee taking a reserve role felt like. It's not my place to be that guy anymore somebody else needs to. It wasn't a petty thing. It was like I. I shouldn't be the one being this guy as I'm not one of the main contributors but I will always remember after the rams game when John Lee had a great game Jordan. Lewis was standing up at his locker and they asked him how he felt about. However you know how good did it feel to see Sean Lee play? The way did and he said You know well. That's our captain. Well he wasn't wearing the captain's patch. But that tells you how that locker room actually feels and and and so that I think it was. There was a thirst for his leadership and I think the team really really struggled with him having to take that back seat leadership role into hopefully next season some other guys step up or with Sean Lee potentially getting more work that he can kind of resume that role a little bit and I think you know. Bring some stability to the a lot of those young players on defense you and I have tried to Mir some of these virtual shots in the way that perhaps some of these teams would now like. I said we're not coaches. I'll never pretend to be a coach. I understand better than a coach. I would never what I'm good at is getting information and you and I have gathered some of the questions that are asked to some of these players and so I think what's been interesting about this podcast is. You're sort of seeing how these guys adjust end. End Respond on the fly. What was one of the questions that really stood out for you? The teams typically ask these players and whites important. Well I mean one of them. You can see there's two it's really been great. I saw Jim Nagy from the senior bowl Praising the cowboys on twitter on Thursday for kind of pulling back the curtain and letting fans get a glimpse of like the evaluation process. Because everybody thinks they're a twitter scout now and that they can do the job of NFL Scott and so it really is a good opportunity to look and see like look. This is so much more about you..

"When it comes to a conclusion the end the result is salvation. He says the Old Testament Prophets for speeder chapter one verses nine ten the Old Testament they wanna know about this salvation and they searched for this salvation and the search for the salvation. He says they search diligently. This was an earnest. This was a passionate search. These men really wanted to dig into what that was and Pearson. God didn't get very far but he said things have changed. He said you as an ailing you as a stranger God has allowed this information information to be revealed and you know what the prophets those godly men in Old Testament. Times previous eras did not know because because you have that information he said you need to be doing if you choose this alien way of life he says you have to be distinct from the world. World isn't interested in holiness. They don't want holiness. But God says if you want to be one of my people I better chapter one of her sixteen. This is absolutely required. We cannot be in this alien the stranger status if we are not in pursuit and I would say daily pursuit of holiness. When you look at the world it lasts it's knickers at holiness? It mocks the idea of holiness. I'm thinking of just one of many examples as far as vice president pence he. He talked about how he interacted with women. If you saw that if you to go back and see what the new set about that. They thought that was funny. He said I'm trying to maintain came purity and the world snickered. That's the way it acts when the world finds out what we is. A stranger or in alien will not do do not WanNa do or even when it discovers what we do. It thinks nuts. Christians need remember every single day every hour of the day that the world is not our judge. It never has been. It never will be you for that reason. We can never allow the world to be our judge if we have been redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus. Christ I Peter Chapter after one in verse. Eighteen our need for daily holiness should be crystal-clear if we've purified our souls by obeying the truth for Speier Chapter One in Verse Twenty Two we need to live accordingly. That's how aliens live moving down a little bit further now in First Peter Chapter two. Peter says if you are a stranger if you you're an alien make sure that you have put away the filth the ways of the world. Sometimes we talk about cleaning house. Perhaps as you left this morning you looked looked at a sink full of dirty dishes. Maybe a found clutter in the house. Maybe someone had thrown some closed down. You're thinking those need to be picked up when we get back home. Hello Peter says if you're going to be this ailing you need to look at your moral life and you need to make sure that you've cleaned that up. You're still GONNA make mistakes. You're still GONNA in a fall at times but make sure that you have clean things up in the moral area. He says when you become this stranger or alien he said it's a new life he said it's so new mill week and compare it to being like a newborn baby needing milk. I Peter Chapter two in verse. Two he says you are this alien. It's not just just the status. He says furthermore God wants you to grow. God wants you to be useful for Peter. Champion responded he compares this alien life to being like a stone not just a stone he says that is this strange life unfolds. It said I want you to be like a livingstone. Is it not true that there are a lot of stones in our world. Some Johnstone Johnstone's other stones. No we're not. Just those are useful. Stones will become a Christian. We are supposed to be like a useful stone. There's some stones you've got to feel just a stone's show we from here and if you were to go to the field you find some stones some top of the ground summer berry the stones that on top of the ground the stones that are buried a little bit. They are stones which are virtually useless. It is also possible. Though for a stone to be useful stones can be used is to construct objects a stone may support an object. It might be that we use stone somehow. Help us make food through Peter. God says to his people to his aliens millions. You need to be useful people. You're not spectators. Sometimes people have the idea. We're GONNA come to worship and be a spectator. It's not that way if we're truly an alien for we are participants not backseat drivers. We are if we are a Christian. Someone who has picked up the mantle of Jesus. Christ we are to be front line workers someone says. Well that's a preacher's job. It is someone says well. That's the job it is. Someone says that's the job for the NICKENS. It is so it says that's the job for the Bible class teachers. It is who's left everybody else and who were they. Also frontline frontline workers their frontline workers. Because Peter says if you become this alien he says let's let me tell you what else has happened for chapter two nine. He says you are are part of an electric race. You're also part of a royal priesthood. There are people who look at individuals from around the world stand up for various reasons. This group stands out because of what the EAT. This group stands out because of how they dress or the lack address this group stands out because they like subdued colors or perhaps very bright colors and some of the people stand up because they have voices that are on. God's people are strangers. They are aliens number one because of who they are. Aw They are aliens because number two of what they believe and number three. They're aliens because of what they do. That's a sermon in and of itself. Self we are so distinctive we are so alienated from the world. That Peter says got also meet your Prese first. Peter Chapter two in verse nine. Uh if we are a young Christian perhaps someone who's become a Christian teen years. God says were priest if we are a married very person or priest. If we're an unmarried person who's a Christian were priests someone says. Well I'm a woman your priest ext at least in the sense that Peter used that word along with being part of the priesthood. Peter says were part of a nation. There are as look at our world right now. Literally hundreds of nations and Peter you said this nation that the aliens of God are part of this nation is wholly it is so holy. Says it's a people. Oh for God's own possession as you look around this morning at the number of people who were here you would say are we can't constitute a nation. We're not a nation. He's not talking about a single congregation. Peter is talking about all the congregations of God's people when you look at them together large and they form mighty nation this nation. You may stand for another ten years one hundred years of thousand years. Maybe ten thousand years. I don't know but I do know that the spiritual that Peter Talks about it will stand four with an attorney. Recently spoke to military better and in the conversation I asked him if he kept up with any old military buttery and he said well there was one trying to keep contact with him over the years with us not worked out too. Well God says my people will be bound together for attorney. Uh You might seem like an alien in this life. There may not be any other New Testament. Christians advisory Go to school work. We live or anything else. The number of Christians ends in your local community might be small but God says you're part of a great great nation s Peter Rights to these people consider Chapman to. He said there was a time. When you were insignificant? You were not a people. You didn't count. You didn't matter but he said all that's changed. When you became an alien you entered into the very family of God joined the body of Christ in the body of Christ and you have all these wonderful blessings and now you are? You're a people in chapter two verse. Eleven here's where we get to the word alien at least in some versions hitter. Says he's writing to strangers and aliens wins. If you don't have the word of alien there will probably say something like so generous. Peter wanted.

"There was no attempt by him to convert me or force God stuff. He was being a friend in counselor. And you know, finding out how good or bad things were in my life. I love the fact that by and large this service is available for free through charges because I think that's more accessible, I I would really like to see organizations like the atheist community of Austin get tied in with the secular therapist project where we could have a a secular therapist available to people where they didn't necessarily have to pay for it. So now that you're you're getting some other kinds. I think we kind of went off on four different trails there. Get back to you. I mean, the way I see it is like, you know, this isn't a clinical or scientific thing for me. I mean, this is I. If you wanted to tell me what happens if you want me to tell you what happened. I will. But it's it's a big deal. Just sounds like you had a problem and you needed to talk to somebody that was objective problem with with someone I care about. Yeah. That's fine. And like I needed to talk to someone. And I knew I knew pastor would be there for me. I I don't know. And like I said you were there emphasis forty five minutes. We just talked talk through it and. I don't know anyone and I don't want to psychology for this. Because you know, it's not a mental thing for me. It's something that happens to someone. I really care about. Yeah. Well, I insert just one thing. I just wanna make one caveat. Here some pastors do are employed and don't get paid. But when we say this guy doesn't quote for free. He is actually paid to kind of talk to people that come in off the street that you know, what I mean there is there is this. I know I was sort of correcting something Matt had said earlier about. Individuals for the individual, but the person is paid as a paid resource usually have truckloads money and don't have to pay taxes. But anyway, go ahead. No. But like, you know, honestly helped me really did. I wear yesterday. I was you know. Seriously, Donald Trump's well, see, that's that's the thing. That's that's the thing. And this is this. There's a reason I'm interrupting here Nickens because a minute ago. You were like, oh, it wasn't a physical thing. It wasn't a a psychological thing. Yes. It was it absolutely was because you I mean, you just described you were down in the dumps because what happened counseling from us psycho psychotherapists psychiatrists psychologists is not about necessarily mental illness. And by the way, we're right? We're not particularly good about describing and defining. What is or isn't mental illness? Everything happens to you is going to be tied to how you process it. How you're what emotions are going to be taking from it and trained counselors? Yeah. Are trained specifically to address those things it's not like if you walk in and you're feeling down in the dumps because it's something happened. You're gonna walk into the psychology. And the first thing to do is like here's some Ritalin. And you know, go take care of yourself. It really is about the person, and who we are is fundamentally mental and emotional beings. Yeah. I wanna I just wanna throw. This out there for people who may not be aware. If anybody else is as this conception of therapy. I went and saw two different marriage counselors while. I was married that we were dealing with communication issues. Wasn't that somebody was mentally ill? Or the, you know, it was just like we had communication blocks. And it was kind of frustrating to me personally. Because a big part of my college degree was communication. And so I was extremely frustrated because I just did I'm like how is it that I can't figure out how to get around this block. But but the whole point was we just needed somebody to intervene like an intermediary to get in there and help facilitate these conversations phone into patterns. Anywhere. And it can they kept coming up. And it was like look this can't just keep going again. And again, and again like we've got to stop this broken record. And and we're not successfully doing that between the two of us..

"But but a love the this character, Colin because Colin as I say Collin Collin is the is the nice guy, quote, unquote, the nice guy, the two of the two of them. He street enough just to get by. But he's you know, he gets mostly in trouble trying to take care collars, as I mean, I'm sorry miles as as man, this is another one of those stories always. I mean, I always love these stories but stories that illustrate that. Yeah. A guy will grow up with a friend who is complete troublemaker and fuck up, and he just won't let them go. And everybody's like why are you still friends with him? It's like, I don't know is something all do. Appreciate you never given up on. Thank you. Much love. Came. There's a happy ending stint. Jill you. Daughter too. Hey, I'll put money as compensation car. But he what I love about him. Being the nice guy. I always get in trouble. Is that he's still not a pushover? Right. He's just he's just you could see why he's loyal to his friends friends law to him. I mean, there's a hard situation. He's not a weak character. He just is. He's just duck in a really tough situation where somebody is taking care of him since he was very young. And they're practically brothers, man. And I get it. But I'm really fascinated. I'm fascinated so much Bob miles miles that actor Rafael Casella or that dude's amazing that dude is incredible. I would just fascinated by him. And I gotta tell you, man. This is so funny too. Because first of all the character of miles as Mara was saying as you probably heard of saw in the trailer right here, you shouldn't even like miles, man. My my miles is one. He's one Sneh. Away from being a complete fuck up. Yeah. In life and a Wigger up of. You know, he's loyal to his friends. He loves his son. He's loyal to his girl in right? Went just right. When you think that men? This guy's a great men a great, dad. He does some so fucking stupid like bringing a gun in the house. And it's not just something stupid. I mean, it's something major that will ruin lives. You know, you shouldn't even like this, dude. And as mindset on top of that, he's a wagon. It'd be like your friends with that. Yeah. But right when you get mad at him like cut that out you realize he knows his boundaries. Look, I'm gonna put a grill in my mother on draft some bars. But you know, I'm not going to have to drop that anywhere. Underway him saying Nickens at one time. She if anybody thinks they can see him. Yeah. Two weeks later, God he gonna do this. Mccollum to me, man. Nope. He's a very complex character. No, man. He he is. He is he's a, but you know, what a love that character. Because that character, you know, talking about him being kinda hood and being a Wigger him known as boundaries. It gives us a chance to explore race relations in a different area. Gift gives us a chance explore race issues in different area, and that that is really hard to frame today. "nickens" Discussed on Double Toasted
