"There's so many good options at quarterback still and we've had a lot of injuries but there's still so many quality options even on your waiver wire. There's a lot of quality options. I don't think that this is a situation where you want a week in week out starter. I think nick mullins is a guy who you know situationally fill in a week or two there but if you're coming into your fantasy playoffs and you're relying on nick mullins. You're not feeling good josh. You feeling that man. So i'm going to take a different angle on this. Like because i have some sleep reflects teams were nick mullins and starting and of course. We're nick molins is starting. I do not have other options. That's why nick mullins starting. Yeah you don't feel good. You just like. Here's what i would say if you can get rid of a quarterback going into the playoffs again and improve running back or wide receiver. And just say fuck it. Unplugging in nick mullins so that i can go get. I don't know david montgomery. Maybe not david carry. Bet you do that. You do that. Because nick mullins as much as he's not any kind of household name or brand at all he's a qb to seventy five percent of the time. So let go with nick more. I would like to a callback to an episode earlier in the season. When nick woolens played he had actually beaten out. Russell wilson russell wilson that week and we asked if he can do that again or last week he did so something i thought would never happen. It happened guys. Nigga i just i just want to make an argument for the roster build. Where like you are scraping by at quarterback in a superplex and put the capitol somewhere else. Adam heard him. You heard him and he's going to be playing them so we'll see next week. How josh feels about nick. Mullins teams how they fared Interested to see this So we'll see how it will give back with josh next week on that. Let's move over to do that again. Let's hit this quickly. Baker mayfield and the browns offense supported three. Top twenty receivers. Pr last week. Can they do at least two of those next week josh..

He sewing, I wanna see in a live staff production. I know part of the appeal of seeing like plays musicals is sort of the anything can happen type of thing. I don't know if I want to be like in the same rule. Scary shocks me. You are the fan. Your fan of I've got to watch this because there we are. We are in the fine razor's edge of, of, of chaos like you like watching Nick woolen to walk a tightrope. Why do we want to watch knowing okay? Watching him because of the potential of catastrophe. That's why it's sick. And I'm surprised that you don't wanna see Gary abuse on a live stage play because of the potential catastrophe. No. Here's the thing came when we saw Gary, when we gave you when we saw Nick willing to walk across that building and Chicago, that was the turning point for me, because, like I like seeing things turn catastrophic in very, very awkward. But when physical danger becomes an element, I get too anxious lying like I love south. That's weird. But with Gary Busey, there's no telling what the man might do you know, like we're talking about live attacks. It wouldn't shock me at all if he some of bees were involved in Gary Busey was involved when, when it comes to, like, physical risk, that's where I have to draw the line these days, it's just..

"Welcome back to the DMZ football podcast. We still got a handful of games to go. What's next on the agenda, my friend? We have the New York football giants. They will travel down to DC and face the Redskins. Now, the giants come in as three point favorite, and I think largely in part due because of Mark Sanchez will be the quarterback for Washington. Yes. Mark sanchez. This is not two thousand twelve this is two thousand eighteen Mark Sanchez of the starting quarterback in the NFL with that being said the giants have been playing better recently there four eight what do you see happening this game? Jeff. Why you see happening? This game is carnage. I don't know. I don't know. Why said that? But I'll let you pick. I I always do go. I I go I got giants winning this game. I just don't think that with Adrian Peterson. It Mark Sanchez. I don't think that that offense is dynamic Adrian Peterson did have that big ninety year run and get one hundred dollars. I don't think that offense is gonna put up very many points in the giants might be fought. They might have offense of wine issues, but I expect Barclay an ode L Beckham and those guys to make a couple of big plays or few touchdown. So all right. The giants game think it'd be kind of an ugly game twenty four thirteen. Gimme Barclay having a career day in rushing yards. Okay. Give me a thirty one to twenty eight victory for the New York. Football giants thirty one twenty eight. Okay. All right. Let's move on the last early game the colts in Andrew luck. They just coming off a shutout. They were shut out by the Jacksonville Jaguars. No points hard to believe Andrew a team could be shut out. But they were they will travel to Houston and they'll face to Shawn Watson in that Houston, Texas team. That was one nine games in a row that Texans are obviously favored here four and a half points. They're the home team. There are the hot. Team in the NFL at the moment. All you go first Jeff could you see winning? So with this game colts Texans Texans are on a nine game winning streak. They look hottest football the Texans on this one. And you know what? The scores going to be like a forty two thirty five Texans win because close can still put up we've seen it before for twenty five. Yeah. Okay. Thirty five thirty five. I have a Texas winning again as much as I want to believe that there's enough say here the fact is I think that colds getting shutout last week really hurt their confidence. And if they were playing at home, maybe I'd reconsider say they'll get back on track with since they're on the road at Houston against a team. That's really on their defense, especially. I mean, those guys really becoming like he was a first overall pick for a reason, you know, what I mean? Yeah. Iraq, the tech and this one this game thirty to twenty four twenty four. All right. So let's move to the afternoon games. The Broncos will travel out west they will face the San Francisco forty Niners who were at two and ten the Broncos are six and six they're alive and kicking in the playoff hunt. But Jeff they're going to have to do it without Emmanuel Sanders as he has been placed on injured reserve, he tours Killys in practice. That's a terrible terrible injury for a team that has really been doing decently mostly because of the him on offense. It's been Philip Lindsey in the manual Sanders. That have really carried the team. Do you think that with the mania Sanders loss will that? I don't know affect. Yeah. Oh, yeah. But this game in particular. Still think they win on Sunday. It's a forty Niners. I've been struggling. Well, the thing is the forty Niners have just been playing. They've been up and down obviously and get Nick woolens had over four hundred yards passing last week. They also lost Chris Harris. So the Broncos lost their best corner in the best receiver in the same week. Yes. So you know, what I'm giving the Broncos but not by much. I think I think it's gonna be a Philip Lindsey kinda game..

"Flow with the next play like setup the downfield throw without those two or three short passes to Louis set up the run with a couple long passes to Corey Davis. They don't seem to kind of call plays with the next few plays in mind. They seem to kinda wing. I think that's the main reason why the patriots are where they are in the saints where they are right now in the standings. And we're Tennessee is. Yeah. When you game plan or have an offensive fos fee. You need to think like, okay what I call here in the first quarter is not going to be exactly what I call the second quarter. Everything is going to be set up for something else. I'm going to run the ball hard with Derrick Henry couple times. And then I'm gonna throw it over the top. And then once those safeties back up a little bit. We're going to have a pass play fifteen twenty years you on the field on income or an out route. And I just when I watched the titans, I kind of feel like every play call is like, well, maybe this will work or maybe this will work. It's like they're picking the asked Madden section. You know, what I mean, they pressed the price expert or the square button, whatever. There is a reason why team script plays. There's a reason why that's thing. And it's because when you script plays you're doing it to set up down down during the game down the road in the game the third and fourth quarter. You're you're setting up plays formations to see how the defense will react. You're not calling plays bass on down and distance. You're calling plays a see. Okay. Well, when we went three wide. This is how they responded when we ran the ball with Lewis in this formation. This is how they responded I don't see that from the time. And I really hope that they can take this as an opportunity on Thursday night football here to really leapfrog for the rest of the season. Yeah. This is definitely like one of these moments where how important is an offense minded coach right now in the NFL. Like you look at like the forty Niners with pal Shannon the off. It's a guy. They're not winning games. Nick woolens just for four hundred yards. Yeah. They're using what they have to the best of their ability. And if the honest and it was coaching the titans. I think they would have like a maybe a three loss record right now. They can be nine three right now. Maybe because with the talent that is on that titans team with Dion Lewis Corey Davis like he can use that. So well, but that offense Aucoin on the titans does not like we've said over and over again does not know how to use them. And I guess you could say the same goes for the Jacksonville ovens quarter. I mean, how many times they've hired him already? They have a new guy now and thirty bench their quarterback. Both these offenses don't know how to work, and obviously this game is going to be on the defensive side both both teams. But the question is what's defense is gonna. Stop the other one the most or are we just going to see a zero zero tie which I mean the Jaguars just wanna six zero game. You know like that had to be the most boring game of the year. Right. That that right hands down. I would say so absolutely. And you know, we talked about you talked about the offense coordinator for the times Matla floors his name. He is a disciple of Sean McVay and Kyle Shanahan. He worked with both coaches underneath them. And to see his offense. Be very limited. Makes you wonder is it him it kind of gives him the benefit of delta. Maybe it's quarterback. I don't know. But this is a big last four games for Marcus mariota. The titans really need to find out. If this guy is going to be the quarterback for the next ten years for them. Or if he's going to be somebody that they need to look to replace in a year two. Yeah. Absolutely. I agree with you totally because this is basically like his like a contract here. Almost isn't it. Really is. I mean, it's not technically. But it's a judgment year for me. Like, oh, yeah. It's a how do we? How do we lay out our team going forward?.

"Up with Jimmy Butler trade Carmelo Anthony most likely no longer being a rocket. Now, we're going to go into the Monday night. Football matchup between the San Francisco forty Niners. And then your giant San Francisco for their second primetime game in the Manny weeks, which is kind of odd all things considered. If all the teams get to primetime games in a row, but they get they face two one win teams, by the way. So the forty Niners coming up the win on Thursday night last week with Nick woolens debut against the raiders now they are facing. The New York Giants. And honestly, Nick Mullins has his work cut out for my gin. So nibbling is gonna have to phase in two teams with a very mediocre defense at best and I can see him having a great game. What do you think? Yeah. And he gets about ten days. Prepare for the giants. The giants are coming off a bye. But Nick Mullins not only does he get that win. I win under his belt, but he gets to have a little bit extra time to prepare. You know, unlike a normal week we have about six days between games. Well, he gets a little bit longer. And I think that might help them. I'm not sure if too many people are going to be extremely interested in this matchup between a one win and two win team. But hey, maybe we'll see some fireworks. There is some good offensive players on the field for the giants. Obviously saquon Barkley Odell Beckham junior. Do they have their own concerns? Absolutely. But hey, this game had actually have some points in it. We'll see. Yeah. Absolutely. And the fact of the matter is Nick Mullins is not laze. Maybe this is to be good for him in terms of if he plays really well the rest of the season he could get a trade offer new contract from another team in be better off in the future. Like, that's that's great for him. But bottom line is Jimmy Garoppolo is coming back next season. And he's going to get the start Nolan's. This is his chance to get a good. Let's say a good resume tape out there for other teams. Sure. I mean, most likely the scenario is if he plays well over the course of these last couple of games that he'll remain as backup quarterback for the forty Niners. And you know, they might move on from third as the other quarterback. But. But yeah, I mean, I'm not sure if you even fails a couple of games if anybody's running out to try and trade for Molins or anything like that considering he wasn't undrafted free agent practice squad player. So, but I'm saying. He's if he finished off a strong. I wouldn't be surprised if he got over like a conditional pick form something very little maybe even seventh round nothing. Yeah. But under that scenario, it would be the forty Niners wouldn't there'd be no reason to trade them. If they know they have a communist Beth third. Well, they replaced about third. So they don't really have like he's he lost his job pretty much, Nick Molen. So yeah. But looking at this game. The this is the one statistic that really jumps me is how many rushing are is they both get per game the forty Niners get one hundred and thirty four point seven rushing yards. A game in the near giants with shake on Barclay only gets seventy seven that seems incredibly low to me for a team with a very talented running back who might be getting offense of rookie of the year. Yeah. It is. But it speaks to its speaks a Kyle Shanahan being at least an offensive minded coach and get the best of his players because we know the forty Niners have been able to move the ball efficiently when they're not turning the ball over there actually a pretty good offense. That's the problem though, is that they turn the ball over to me times with Beth third at quarterback and that led to the switch and on the other side of the spectrum. The giants offensive line is so bad that saquon Barkley is, you know, having to make miracles almost every time he gets the ball. I mean, we've seen him with some impressive runs. But man, he is having to commit a lot of energy eluding defenders behind the line of scrimmage, and that doesn't bode well for you know, your offense of output, you're rushing yardage output..

"Even if he went even if you let their shoulder and went to tackle him and he did make contact with him. Do you think you deserve to be an injection straight away? Straightaway. Like your first one. That's my thing. If he had another one in the game, then I would agree with it. But that's my it was also like the fight afterwards. Kind of like Eric Reed was but he didn't start that. I mean, he was it was the players defending them. So it was I if the quarterback, but also trying to fight back which you shouldn't do in that situation. You should really layoff. You just get away from the situation. But I mean, we're was he gonna do surrounded by five six players on the opposing team in defending him. I'm not injection though, or no it's questionable. That's all say. Yeah. Is it could have easily been one way or the other? Yes. So moving back to the game Panthers. They get routed. They started off. Well that pick six I think was a difference early on in that game kinda shifted the momentum. As we saw both teams. Go back and forth early on. I thought the Steelers offense was exceptional. You had some stats have been relatives. Very that. You wanted to talk about he had a perfect passer rating. There's no such thing as perfect. Yeah. There is one fifty point three and guess what? He got. One fifty eight point three, correct? He had one hundred and fifty eight point three rating, which is a perfect passer rating. He went twenty two of twenty five three hundred twenty eight yards and five touchdowns sect once this game once so he had more touchdown passes than incompletions. Correct. Wow. That is pretty pretty good. I will say that. And he threw it to five different players. Everybody's getting a piece of the action to tight ends three wide receiver. Everybody score. Actually, I lied to tight ends to wide receivers in one running back. So what are your saying is everybody in Pittsburgh scored a touchdown except for Levy on bell last night. Sure, I guess what happened at the after party stays at the after party. But whatever. So. That's a that's a very impressive game for a Steelers team. That's been on a roll. I think that this really puts like them and AFC north just not not just winning it. But like this is like Sealion almost. Yeah. And the Bengals have a tough game this week. As will we will preview that later on. But you can see that. There could be a big separation between the Steelers and the Bengals this week. Absolutely. So I have to ask you, Jeff. Does this win by the by the Steelers change, your mindset of them to you think? Now in the conversation of best team in the AFC. Yes. You think they have a seat at that table now with with the Bill check in mounting the best team in the AFC. But having argument argument. Yes, they they can they can compete with them not saying they're better, but they can compete with them. Sure. I don't think anybody would say you're wrong in thinking that because after the early season struggle. They have now figured it out. They have now figured out. How to win these games? Their offense was really really poor at the beginning of the year. Plus their defense was even worse, but their offense more efficient, even in the drives. They're not scoring points. They're moving the ball. They're putting their defense and better positions to to stop the opposition rather than three and outs and things like that. Ben Roethlisberger has been playing really well lately. And I think that this game kind of signified that true true. True. Very true. It's a very good point. And the fact is Ben Rothlisberger has been that fights. Hudson games a statement game. Like, I'm still here. You're talking about. I Brady your homes you're talking about Nick woolens, but I'm still here. Let's face it. We were told by Nick Williams for like two days straight. Yes. Absolutely. "Apprecia- and this week. It is a win Wednesday, and it's actually Tuesday because we're coming at you from the past it's Tuesday voting day, and it went Wednesday. It's all of amazing this smashed up into one day that is not following any rules of the space time continuum and with me as always is co host, Mr. Jerod Brown Jared. How are you doing today? I'm doing good a day earlier than normal but excited to get at it earlier than normal. Thanks to the Thursday night game in in a little bit of an extended break for the forty Niners to at a good time. That's exactly right. So before we get into the final battle of the ban the game recap. I'm super interested to hear about how you're going to vote on I think prop seven because that's the daylight savings time one, right? I believe that is in. I you know, I've thought about it a little bit because Aaron is one of the places that doesn't do it. There are some drawbacks in both cases, particularly as a teacher. It's kind of nice right now when I go to school in the mornings that it's light out whereas just two weeks ago. I was getting to school rolling around six thirty or so kinda prepping and do an early bird stuff and his dark out and just sort of sets a sort of ominous tone. So I actually kinda dig setting falling back a little bit. So that I get the little bit of daylight in the morning. But I also understand wanting to keep it lighter a little later. It outta here with this politician answer. This non answer answer. It. You can't say both are. Okay. I I'm pinning it down in honor of voting day highly diplomatic. I think I I'd vote to keep it. Oh, man. Yeah. To get rid of it. Get rid of I'm I'm voting from afar with spirit only for California stuff because I'm over here voting in Texas elections, but it wasn't deed the battle of the bay. I have got a Turpin dream APA in American pale ready to go because that game was indeed a dream. I mean, we said at the beginning or in our preview we said the best quarterback is going to win. We just had no idea that best quarterback was going to be McMullan's yet. I did not see that. Come. I mean, I don't know that anybody saw it coming maybe perhaps accept Kyle Shanahan or assumed that he could make it happened on the less, but Nick Molins played. Not not lights out. But better than what the raiders could get their quarterback to play a whether that's coaching whether that's scheme. Whether that's other players around him either way. Nick woolens was the best quarterback on the field. And as a result. Like we thought the forty Niners came out on top pretty impressive while the forty Niners. Do indeed win the final battle of the bay the forty Niners one maybe their most complete game of the Cal Shanahan era. Their highest offensive output of two thousand eighteen thirty four points tied for their third highest offensive output overall in the collar Shanahan era. Of course, the Jaguars forty four points was tops Rams with could O'Brien Hoyer thirty nine points. And then the Rams again and that meaningless week seventeen game thirty four points the forty Niners defense had eight sacks. They are now tied Jared get this. They're not tied for seventh in the NFL. With twenty four sacks on the back of that aid sack performance and they had to turnovers in the game that plus two turnover margin incident. Really tied for the second highest total and the highest attorney over margin in the Shanahan era. Actually, that's surprising. Just because I don't generate a turnovers but overall in terms of a complete game. This was as big and as complete of a game as the forty Niners have ever put together in the Cal Shanahan era. And it took a pretty hapless Oakland Raiders team in order to do it. Typically, the forty Niners..
