"Well, look, we saw this version of Davis for about 20 games earlier this season. I put on him to win MVP. What are these real numbers? Every single star in the league. I mean, you have 11 MVP beds. I do have about 6 guys I bet on MVP, but at one point when he was like at 20 to one or so, and he's ripping off these, you know, double digit rebounds, you know, 25 to 30 point games. Sure, why not? It's a speculative bid, but we're only asking him to do it for another, you know, he won't have to play every single one of these remaining regular season games. They can rest him if that's necessary. I don't see I disagree. I mean, they're the 11 seed right now. I don't know how you rest anybody. But they're all bunched together is the thing. I mean, they catch, I don't have the schedule in front of me, but I know that they catch one of Houston or San Antonio in there. And that will be a rest opportunity for necessary. Grizzlies Tuesday, OKC on Wednesday, in OKC, but SGA has missed the last two games. It's kind of a whiff of a tank or smell there, Jacoby, a little cologne, maybe press these putting on Timberwolves at home. Warriors at home grizzlies at home, raptors at home, nicks at home, so a whole little home stand, then they go on the road for New Orleans, Houston, back home for Dao. We need to sit down and watch some fourth quarters of the grizzlies together, my man. That team when ground down into a half court offense continues to just swing and miss. And if you have a fourth quarter where those two teams are close, I trust the Lakers a lot more than I trust the grizzlies in the game, especially in a playoff context. That's to me that's a key point. I don't really like anyone in the west other than Denver who just lost by 30 5 at one point. I'm with House I'm Memphis. I don't like their last 5 minutes and it was interesting the other night. Them and Cleveland both lost really winnable games. That were basically happening around the same time with each other. Cleveland blue one, Memphis blue one. And it was the same stuff. I don't love the shots they get. The last 5 minutes of the game. It seems like a lot of just jaw driving into three guys or, you know, some 20 footer fall away from Jared Jackson with four seconds on the shot clock. I don't love the shots I get. And it's awesome. We'll talk about them later because I have them in my improbable thing, but Denver is really the only team I love Jacobs, and I love the Reggie Jackson, just adding him, that guy's been in real basketball games and has real experience. I think he's going to help. But they do have these nights where they just get the shake kicked out of them. It's a very strange one seed. That grizzlies game was so weird. Like I turned it off and like the second quarter. It was just weird, weird game. And right now, Reggie Jackson is probably got like ten points against the clippers. How many does Reggie have against the clip right? It's like the first quarter. I'm predicting Reggie Jackson's course at least 25 tonight. At least 25. That was really a steal for them to just randomly stumble into that guy who's been around. You know, you mentioned Utah, house, you think Utah falls out? No. I think you tossed stays in. That team feisty. Yeah, and you know, they believe in each other. I mean, we would have seen the notes come down from on high, much sooner than right now. They're way too far to the other. They're not going to help their odds any by tanking. They're too good. To have this walker Kessler situation. Which is the fucking craziest thing I've ever seen. I actually bet on OKC against them this week. And walker Kessler just turns into Bill Russell with like a minute ago. It's like watching the 1960s Bill Russell highlights on YouTube of him just blocking hell Greer. And they have a go to guy in marketing and then another half of a go to guy in Clarkson because every once in a while, he looks great. I don't know that when I look at those teams that are all bunched together, which is basically Dallas, 32 and 30, Golden State 31 and 30, Utah, 31, 31, Minnesota, 31 and 32 New Orleans 30 and 31, and then the Lakers 29 and 32.

"I guess maybe with the advent of technology, you don't see that many paintings like that. You're right. It is very old school. And maybe even 'cause I know back in the day it was something that was always commissioned by rich people. So maybe there's kind of a class thing too. That was involved in, I think also it's one of those things that there's not much else you can do with it. So I get what you're saying when you say it's a quote unquote dying art and I almost feel the same way too, but I'm just going to do it anyway because that's what I like to do and I still enjoy looking at how people do portraiture in their own way. I think I prefer more of I would say maybe more realistic representations than the ones that are super abstract. But as far as painting, I love what I'm seeing other people's interpretations. The medium. So tell me about how do you approach a new piece of art or a new portrait? What's your process like? Well, right now, it's where it's coming from a lot of it is coming from just, well, I want to do a series of friends and family, I think. So hearing you talk about your brother doing a portrait of you. I was like, oh, that hits close to home. I think that's what I'll be doing to just because it will make me feel good, I think. I think it's a way of memorializing these people and these connections that I have, you know, people that inspire me, people that really understand me and who I feel just are doing amazing things in life, even though they may not think so. So I think I want to pull from that as inspiration, I've spent a while now, but I had started a series of memes and I was doing that as a way to practice getting into portraiture again the way that was kind of fun and it's super easy to find those images and you can get creative and people can connect with that because they've seen these things over and over again. So it's just like an inside joke and I like that aspect to it. So in that case with the memes, it's more about what do I think is kind of funny, what do I think I can do? What do I think is going to resonate with people, especially what I posted online, what are the jokes that we're going to be flying through to each other back and forth. I definitely think about how it's going to be received. Maybe I shouldn't. But in that way, not so much that I want them to critique my work, but just I think about how the work is going to have me connect with people once it's out there. For sure. Yeah, I've seen some of the meme paintings. You've got them on your website. There's the crying Jordan meme. There's a New York from flavor of love sitting in the bed. "Right, let's bring in Kevin art of it to talk about what is undoubtedly the weirdest series of the first round, the grizzlies, Timberwolves, slugfest. I don't even know what to call this. The grizzlies lead to one after an improbable slash weirdly probable massive comeback Minnesota that included a 21 zero run 21 zero. That's a football run. We've had fathers trash talking each other at shout out to Chris Haynes for an awesome segment that was even executed even better than its conception. We've got all sorts of stuff we got job Iran flying around. We've got the two best big men in this series in theory. Playing their own separate game of who can commit to stupidest vowels at all times in foul each other out of the game. And because of that, in part, because cat and jaren Jackson junior have been so in and out of the lineup, this series still feels like it has a certain air of mystery to it. Like we've only kind of seen the real series in spurts and that's always a refreshing that we get to game for this weekend and there's some mystery. Kevin arnovich, you're in Minnesota. Can you just like, how was the atmosphere? The game opens with Patrick Beverly taking John Moran's lunch money, shoving the lunch money down John morant's throat and then robbing his house or something while he was recovering from having the lunch money shoved down his throat. The crowd's going crazy. And then all hell breaks loose and they go on a massive ride, I don't know what, what was it like in there? There's something about an arena where a lead that is massive is about to be blown. I was at the clipper grizzlies game in Memphis in 2012. That is the famous Nick young game. And just being close to the floor as the air just comes out of Andrea, especially if you're a certain kind of franchise and let's just call it the Minnesota Timberwolves kind of frame. Woe be gone. Let's call it the wow wow. I think I used that word in my first gamer of this series. I love wobi gone. And they are very well be gone. They are gone. And it was just kind of fascinating, especially given the grizzlies sort of symmetrically or one of the most notable victims of a blown lead in that Nick young game. It's insane. I mean, so they were actually two comebacks. As Desmond Bain said last night, like, he's never been a part of a game where they're like two 20 point. Leads blown. And it was fascinating. The Timberwolves started the game at 12 O, the second quarter Edo, the third quarter 7 O and then in the fourth quarter, that was the midst of the 21 O deficit. It was bizarre. I don't even know where was the, is there a, is there a clippers esque sense of fatalism in the crowd? It's been such a hopeful crowd and Anthony Edwards is imbued that whole franchise in that whole city with such like just kind of peppy hope. Could you feel it? Could you feel all like, oh God, we just can't have nice things here, or is there still a good spirit in the crowd at the end of the game? I mean, I think they're still playing with house money a little bit. I don't think it is absolutely devastated. It is two one. They can square it tomorrow. I think there is. This is a surprising season. I don't think this is clipper esque in the Houston game 6 way. This is not a team that won 40 53, 56 games it's a team that won 44 games, right? I don't know, I'm sorry, they won 40. What do they win? Zach, I don't know. But they were good. So I don't think it's that. I just don't think it's that. Yeah, they're 7 seat. It is the other thing. So for the series, Memphis has scored a 113 points per hundred possessions. The wolves just one O four, which is about the equivalent of the last ranked offense in the NBA. The grids are plus 24 through three games. And they're winning in the aggregate kind of in some of the ways we expected them to win. They have their plus 28 in free throw attempts. They have fewer turnovers, their average, they have ten more field goal attempts for the series, which is compensated for Minnesota taking way more threes, which we knew was going to be the case. Minnesota has been able to get to their threes. That's their math advantage. So in the aggregate, in those senses, the series kind of looks like we thought it would. But when you drill down, I don't even know what the hell is going on here or where to start. We should probably start with Carly Anthony towns taking four shots in a playoff game. What is going on there, why can't they get Carl towns the ball on switches and Memphis switching Memphis, credit Taylor Jenkins? I love Scotty Brooks. Remember when Scottie Brooks left Kendrick Perkins in there to die, our colleague now just game after game after game as the Miami Heat players were literally in the locker room pre game looking at the starting 5 being like, do it again? "Ultimately, can you win with him? We just really haven't seen it. What do you got KFC? When I was getting hired by the ringer in 2016, Chris Ryan asked me to write just like a sample. I wrote something about Russell Westbrook, we ended up using her for the site of the Russell Westbrook road map. In 2016 and it was about how Katie left and Ross is about to be in control. Remember when he tweeted out that video, now I do what I want. And I wrote in that article how Ross to sustain success and continue maintaining this level of play is going to need to change and evolve his game. I've been on this for years now, so I think with Russ now we're at a point. For the first time, athletically, skills wise, he is declined so much since that point for him. He is officially now in this spot. I know everybody hates when I say it, but you give me a better idea than Russ deciding, you know what? I'm only gonna shoot four or 5 times a game. I'm gonna put all my energy and focus on everything else because if he doesn't do that, it's over. It's done. It's done. So we're at the point here where Russ has to do something to salvage this. Otherwise, it's all over for the Lakers and possibly for him. So that's my perspective here with Ross. He should have seen this years ago while he was still winning MVPs, but he didn't, because of his own stubbornness because of his own self confidence. But now you've failed you are at rock bottom and every Lakers fan knows it. Even rust stands aren't standing up for us anymore. He's at the point now where he needs to change or it's over. It's over. "And I'm not saying they're the same player, but I'm saying back in the day, Nick young had a really good season for the Lakers, the Lakers paid him, his field goal percentage dropped, and he suddenly was a negative value contract. The Dallas Mavericks have been dealing with that a little bit with Tim Hardaway junior. These guys who can be bad shot makers who are really good at it for a season, the field goal percentage sometimes isn't a sticky stat and a lot of their value is tied to field goal percentage. So I'm always a little bit gun shy when it comes to guys like a Malik monk and Tim Hardaway junior Nick young back in the day. These types of players. I'm always a little bit wary because I know how important their percentage is to how valuable they are as a basketball player. That said, I think we've reached the point where if you're the Lakers, you do whatever it takes aside from getting rid of LeBron or AD to find a way you get creative and you find a way to keep this guy because at 24 years old, you may have just stumbled into a long-term piece for the Lakers here. Yeah, I mean, we were joking off air, but you know we love to harp on the Lakers big three, but I think at this point, it's almost fair to say that the big three for the Lakers is the broad AD and bleak bunk. Just put it out there. But yes, no, I agree. Contract your guys are always a little bit of a risky proposition because they are fighting for to stay in the MBA. And I don't know if Malik monk is a contract guy per se. And what I mean by that is, I don't know if he's just playing this well so he can get some money and then he'll regress. But even at 24 years old, I still think monk has some upside still. I think his main role is going to be a gunner or something that can put the ball in the basket and get you shots when you need them. But I think this just goes to show you that how reliant the Lakers are in LeBron to create offense, whether that's passing for someone else or scoring himself, having someone like monk to relieve that pressure and be a secondary creator is I think invaluable for this team. And so I'm with you. I think the Lakers need to absolutely find a way to keep him long term. I don't know what his is in free agency..
