Because basically there's money to be made in race Slave botchy states and slave about to spain as la brought to england Because there was a value to their labor was free labor. In if you got free labor you can. You can become very wealthy for free labor. In the south of the united states. Pick cotton and cut sugarcane in the people who own the plantations Became very wealthy reason for But most people don't even know that a lot of people won't say most but a lot of people don't know why they're colored. They are color just the adoption to the climate that you originally from. If i'm if you notice you'll find most of the dark people come from places like africa You know going. You know further you get the closer you get to design the doctors from his son. The lighter european are in a cold climate. Guess what a polar bear also has been a co plan l. He wouldn't. he's eight right it. You know this foolishness always calling about the color of a person's skin is a but it allows some people to to take advantage of other people. It's nothing has nothing to do with the mental capacity or the strength of person. It has everything to do with how people can perceive other people. that's what it has You darker that means you have less No i don't think so. It'd be like santa white polar bear beira in a brown bear. One is more precious than your nose just came from a different climates so ignorance ignorance is a part of a great part of the Rachel dynamic therefore the reason that people Ignorant to the facts. Because if i am black you notice or dark generally you have you come from a warm place. What is what is warm. "It is Monday good to be back with you depending where you are it was another weekend of no restaurants no shops social distancing in the park maybe if it felt kinda normal it means we're getting used to this it's hard to believe but it's been nearly two months since the World Health Organization officially declared that we are living in a pandemic looking at a world map it seems like no part of the globe has been spared we're up to three and a half million cases worldwide there was a lot of garden covers global health for the show so just what is the state today of covered nineteen and its reach across the global on America as you said this virus seems to have really made its mark across the globe the US is at the top of the list in terms of cases and reported deaths and then there's also places like Spain Italy the UK but some of those places are now easing restrictions after the strike locked down so it's all beginning this week as cases the client but the thing is what public health researchers tell me when I asked like where we are in this pandemic they also stress that like we're in the beginning of this thing bill Hanisch is an epidemiologist at Harvard I think the people will people wishful I really do some people wish for people wonderful together there is this wrong for the people house which is you get through this all of whatever comes from uptown ref you off because a lot of different things according themselves look down you get through them and then we'll just open the doors and everything will go back to normal so Elena we shouldn't get overly optimistic for sure but why is it that two months into this pandemic were still in what we call the beginning of it what bill and others means that a lot of the world still hasn't been infected and that makes them really susceptible and vulnerable to the virus basically to be at a later stage in a pandemic you need to have something like sixty percent of the population exposed her over it or of course have a vaccine but we're just not there yet and so even in places that have been hit the hardest whether that's New York or elsewhere and even with the highs projections those percentages just still don't add up to having that level of people exposed and that's why I hope readers are also on the slick high alert when you have the easing of lockdowns about whether if there could be more cases and how to contain that and then at the same time they're still learning still don't quite know what it means to be exposed whether you have like a long term immunity there's some diseases like dengue that if you get infected again it's actually worse so there's just a lot still to be understood about this virus and also how this might play out in waves in the future yeah it also occurs to me that the coronavirus seems to be playing out so differently and so many different places like what is happening what is a spectrum of the infection and how intense it is yeah I mean the main thing is that even though this is one pandemic it's many many different outbreaks around the globe depending on where you are so you have places in Asia where they were hit first where they have these peaks now they're on alert for resurgence is and on the other hand you have places like in Africa that appear to be just at the beginning of early reporting of cases and why is there this variation there's a lot of factors that can contribute to that whether that's like how governments control strategy is playing out in the community like with the testing in the tracing the containment but some of it also has to do with the timing and the way it spreads so I I talked to Jeff Metcalfe she's a demographer and evolutionary biologist at Princeton also seems to be the fact that there is a loss of super sporting events associated with this virus so super sporting events Marco think about like small percentages of people that seem to be spreading it to lots of other people maybe they were at a gathering like was reported on the show in Las Vegas how people from all over the world came and then that can kind of set forth something on the other hand there's these other details about a population like aging populations like in Italy seem to be more susceptible and then even without their these outliers that still have researchers wondering about so just give me this example that's really close to her heart and my parents live in Bangkok in Thailand Thailand's a relatively aging population relative to much of the rest of Southeast Asia and yet they just don't seem to be that many cases so she still has all these questions but what is becoming clear is that this virus will be with us for sometime the world's Ilana Gordon thanks very much for getting us started today you're welcome among the countries hardest hit by the corona virus is Ecuador on a per capita basis Ecuador's rate of infection is way higher than any other country in South America things have been especially bad in the crowded coastal city of Guayaquil public hospitals have been so overwhelmed bodies have been left in bags on the street as the world's Jorge Valencia reports funeral homes are only now starting to catch up with the sudden demand for their services over the last weekend or so and god and ed up has just started to spend time with family all when I reach him he asks his three year old daughter to be quiet so he can speak and that runs the Sykes a funeral home and Ecuador's coastal city of Quetta Kita the city of about three million people has been reeling from covert nineteen for weeks yet all our orchard a million American power I've been there yeah mata I'll start taking phone calls at eight in the morning and work until midnight and I says well he and many others in what the keys are still in emergency response mode the beginning to catch their breath that meant open Independiente que que queria quotas reporting more than twenty seven thousand coronavirus cases but it's hard to say just how many people have died from cove in nineteen because there's limited testing I don't want to put that in my opinion quite of course conversely Elena tells me his city was bearing more than five hundred people a day in mid April for comparison he says a busy day last year what is seen something like fifty over World War mantles in Europe came there was one piece that whenever that is workers arrived at dead man's home they found his body had been decomposing for five days hold on yeah yeah we all love more than lander Dylan yeah you can let us as one of his employees got what he calls the white death in other words he turned pale white and almost fainted it's not so uncommon for people to die outside hospitals in what the keys says Jenny Garcia she's with the National Institute of demographic studies in France and studies mortality patterns across Latin America this is not unusual Nicholas or Nick weather around forty percent of that outside health systems but what's not clear is why Ecuador and budget keyed in particular has been hit so much harder than the rest of South America SCS as cities across the continent are similarly vulnerable with dense populations and many people living in poverty is not just a corona virus that is happening in America we have the worst thing in a crisis historically in the small man we have problems of all kinds if the health system or collapse we are going to have an increase of that older closest to Ecuador's public health ministry says more than thirteen hundred people have died from the coronavirus that is probably a severe undercount if you ask any funeral home director in the country I mean I felt quite have grown beyond audio artist runs another funeral home with the kids okay okay morning she needs to get out of the hatred examine what he what is says many people who are dying appear to have not been tested he says that's certificates will give causes that seem related such as respiratory problems good I thought it up it'll knock them for things thank you for calling aspen his young colleagues yes but she says the death certificates won't say anything directly about cobit nineteen I've got it right out from Sykes a funeral home says he's not all that interested in a precise figure in fact he said he stopped paying attention to the news altogether we were not because of the reluctance he says he's been doing whatever you can to take care of his mental as well as his physical health the man is a client recently given things and offer to shake his hand and let us says he replied that when all this over they can give each other hug instead but for now let's keep a safe distance the number one and for the world I'm for him let's see today Belgium is gradually lifting some restrictions on its lockdown Belgium has the world's highest mortality rate from the current virus not what you think Belgium isn't necessarily doing a bad job in handling the pandemic it's just counting things differently soon van Gogh is a virologist and government spokesman in Belgium as a recently president trump pointed to a graph showing that in terms of population size US ranks number seven in mortality rates while Belgium ranks number one our mortality rate is far lower than other nations of western Europe with the lone exception of possibly Germany this includes the U. K. Switzerland Belgium the Netherlands Italy France you say this is an inaccurate comparison why is that yeah it's highly inaccurate because do we build him is counting all right that's is different than the way other countries are doing this actually we are not only counting that that's in the hospital which are confirmed with laboratory tests whether or not they have been infected by the virus but we also counts probable cases which occur outside of the hospital and a lot of these cases haven't necessarily been tested so we suspect based on the clinical symptoms and the possibility of exposure that these are also coffee tree later that's and actually it's more than holds off the death count in Belgium so if you want to compare the Belgian figures with figures from other countries you almost have to define our number by two so it's difficult at this moment to just compared to figures but that doesn't take away that's a Belgian indeed has been hit very hard by the findings we saw our peak somewhere in the beginning of April and now in the meantime the numbers have come down and see if that is possible now to lift some of the measures prudently very cautiously I mean it may be a transparent way of counting mortality but there are some people who look at those numbers in Belgium and say well maybe the country isn't handling the pandemic so well so this method is politically unpopular what do you say to that well we don't do it for political reasons it's to protect the health of Belgium's and for that purpose this is the best way of counting and the best way off reporting we saw there was a problem emerging in nursing homes that's the strategy for adapting and we need to do much more than we were doing at that time it's also the correct way of measuring the impact of an epidemic if you would talk with people from W. intro or CDC there we'll see I'm a hundred percent writes that you cannot only rely on laboratory confirmed cases you also have to look at the probable cases especially in a setting where you know test capacity is insufficient and this is almost the case everywhere in the.

"So. For hero coming off the baseline screens got it to the left Leslie can't feed Washington. So back the Hagans fifteen on the shot clock. Pagans throws it back to heroes. He wants to get to Washington to take on the art together to hand it back to hero. He can't shoot. Washington has the poll nocco Hilo takes us down to shoot the threes. It may have been foul by Q Witherspoon again going to his left. That's a difficult shot for a right hander the come around with that one of those in the first half, sixty eight sixty one Peter's deep three up the right side team for Peter. He put that right in gets face. That was a terrific shot by the little fellow back-to-back. Breeze by Lamar Peters his fourth one of the day. Sixty eight sixty four Kentucky to thirty to play. Hagen's has it on the left wing gives it out the hero deep on the left side guarded by. Peter's knows it back to Hagen's who tend to shoot Hagans angles. Right. Looking to feed it inside. Can't get the Johnson in the corner. Five to shoot Johnson drives into the paint job passed a hero left quarter challenge. Three hits the side. Of the backboard time runs out on the shot clock. It's Mississippi State ball heaters ran at KIRO and forced to hurry. Use foul too. He was fast two oh nine to play. Mississippi State with the ball down four. Comes into Peter's, and he'll walk it up for back court. Hagen's picks up. He comes across the line. Peter driving to the line goes to the bucket won't go rebounded by Travis. Travis outlet passed a and we get an officials time out. Peter's couldn't finish that because they speak to his right. He struggled that way wants to go to his left finishing at the rim. They may end up taking a look at this on the monitor because I think when read Travis grabbed the rebound as he pulled the ball down his elbow. Hit Peters who was behind. It is what it looked like in real time. There wasn't anything flagrant or intentional. I should say they're going to determine if it's flagrant or not. That's what they have to decide. Waiting to see if they put the replay up on the big screen here at sixty eight sixty four Kentucky one fifty five to play at the moment. It is Kentucky's ball. But. See if they the calling a flagrant one honoree Travis here or letting it go as incidental conduct contact. Once. Again, the best thing that happened out of that sequence defensively for Turkey may Peter's Goethe's right behind the trae Beatty Goethe's writing excellent halftime in Baton Rouge. Auburn leads LSU forty one thirty eight LSU comes to referee on Tuesday night, late second half old misleading. Georgia's seventy nine sixty two. Better than an hour away, Florida at Tennessee. They show the replay down. That's what the crowd reactions about Auburn with Wiley back. Now, he played the other day played about ten minutes. It's a different ball club. It's going to be Kentucky's ball coming to link to the floor. So there was nothing intentional there. For re Travis Peeters happen to be behind him in his read grabs the ball and pulls down your elbow naturally comes out a little bit. And it was a way. No it wasn't way up. It was kind of dalit the side. So it did look like he was heater walked into it. Wasn't throwing that elbow. Fans here with dispute our view of that. But it's Kentucky's ball and rightly so for them. To Washington gives it back to Johnson. He landed on minute fifty to play Kentucky with a four point lead. And the ball big rebound by retread shot by Peter. Three job the boards today. Outside of Kentucky twelve shoot as he dribbles to the middle of the floor. Fifty spreads it out little pick from Washington. Hagans angles right behind him to Washington fakes the three drives the lane. Good collision blocking Paul Mississippi State, Nick Weatherspoon, it'll be a three point play opportunity or PJ Washington. Get a good look at that. Even though we're courtside that all the bodies were the way, but. Jay left the floor. And I'm not so sure whether their time, but we'll let the fans here decide, right? No, we won't. Excellent. PJ Washington to three at the line twenty three points. His seventh twenty point game of the season for the last five this the free throw though and the rebound a. Seventy sixty four Kentucky minute twenty-five the plan. Weather's throws it across the court to his brother dairy tries to the right side goes by Washington, flips it up and an count the bucket, and they're going to call the foul on Washington, and that will be his fifth. This is not the NBA. That was a continuation. Come on. Now. That was a foul out of step and a layup. Yup. So that's thirteen for Weatherspoon, and he'll have a chance to complete a three point play PJ Washington Kentucky's leading score just found out of the game. One seventeen to play Kentucky could have ice. A while ago, if they would've converted at the charity stripe down the stretch here. Key. Mrs couple by PJ to Montgomery who checks back in replacing disqualified, Washington. Jason dishes with twenty three points. Can't go to the charity stripe late at this two shots when dairy weather's foods two out of three at the line. But he's eighty three percent shooter. He could cut it to a one possession game. One seventeen to play. Did he does? Well, the gift on the shot the two shot the two ports. I gotta give. Fourteen for Weatherspoon all of this half. Seventy sixty seven Kentucky. One zero five to play hero gets it to hagan's in the middle of the floor dribbling with his left hand off the pick to Travis to his right throws. It back to Travis at the top he hands at the Johnson Johnson down the lane goes to the rim bump this the shock tap. No good knocked up into the air knocked out of the hands of Johnson beneath Montgomery comes up with a fifty fifty ball. And again it back to Hagen's Johnson. Kept it alive. EJ effort at the end. Forty seconds to play. What I do tussle play by EJ Gumri, seventy sixty seven Kentucky. Twelve on the shot clock is Hagan stands. In dribbles out the on the left side. It's at nine seconds as he moves forward up. The pick from Travis goes down the light kicks to the right? Closer to Montgomery, fakes the three drives kicks to the left corner. Hagan's to on the shot clock. Missed the three long rebound a quick to Nick weather, smooth, Mississippi State with a ball down three fifteen seconds dairy Weatherspoon down the lane falls down. Loose ball picked up by Kelvin Johnson pans at the Hagan pagans fouled him back port. Ben Howland saying he wanted the foul called there. But it's going to be a foul called Mississippi State when dairy Weatherspoon drove through the lane and lost his balance. He Johnson came together. And then put Barry Weatherspoon lost his balance and lost the ball and Hagen's picked it up. And he goes to the line for Kentucky. Actually, there wasn't much body contact all that particular play looked like Witherspoon felt he couldn't shoot it over Johnson. So he started the fade before shot the ball. Pagans free throws. No good off the back of the ironies two out of four. Seventy six percent on the season. Eight point nine on the clock need this one to make it a two possession lead. Seventy sixty seven Kentucky. There's a hell ball the arrow pointing Kentucky's way. Hagan shoots said he hits at seventy one sixty seven. Comes into Peter's racing down the left side gives it back to Nick Weatherspoon, fakes leans in trying to draw the foul missed the shot rebound. Kelvin Johnson at Kentucky escapes with the win. It was the city state running the we've out front, and then whether spoon gets into the lane kicks it out on the wing right side to his brother, Nick Weatherspoon, he penetrates kicks back to dairy into the circle. Eighteen footer straightaways good. They like to swing the ball. Again. They want to look to take the shot at ten seconds or under in that shot clock direction dairy Witherspoon with Nick Weatherspoon with the basket. And here's a steel out front at a dunk at the other import went dairy Weatherspoon make it's penetrated through it back out behind him in on that angle Weatherspoon shot, the passing lane stolen dumped it. It was all about the angle you said it, right? The downloaded Travis right? Block juggles at can't get a shot at the Johnson left side. He wrote fake slides left wide. Open three good. Not gonna miss many that wide open insulting fake Mississippi State defensively. They're gonna play really good position defense or not going to try to rip you the ball. From you steal Johnson left slab. What two hands five four Kentucky goes in front? That's a classic example of Holden not meeting the past AVI stood there. And he let KENDALL step right in there. Kelvin step right in there. It away went. You gotta beat that pass. Gelded johnson. Good tasks left side to Nick weather gets into the key feeds down low to do. Those the bucket Perry rather shot blocked by Kentucky. Washington got cats on a break. Less side Johnson, eighteen footer. For that was well handled top two lanes. Shelby Jackson to the right. I believe it was he wrote to the left and then the ball stated the middle. Atlas well down seven straight for Kentucky. Dairy Weatherspoon out of the right wing and open three short or no good rebound by Perry. Put back. No good. He gets it. Back blocked behind by Johnson rebounded about Travis. Alexander Higgins caught out the right side throws. It ahead to Johnson into the lane. The glass what Calvin Johnson six straight needs going in line. After a somewhat slow. First minute bats, very aggressive pushing the ball getting things started at the defensive and Goelden Johnson on fire right now a variety of shots. Yeah. And that's his game. Yup. Indeed is where he had just no-confidence early down at Auburn Hagans got onto the little bit. Cal took him out. And he came back. The fire was lit. It's great to have your teammates throw. Good coach, you your teammates guys. You guys you look up to make the coach you then you let them coach. You gotta ball ten. Oh, run for Kentucky at a ten four lead. We eat out front. Peter's already in Mississippi State. He's got it straight away between the lakes dribble drives on Hagen's. Can't get by gives it to Nick Weatherspoon left side. No good long. Rebound. "Identified on the fan and a very good Wednesday morning. Data midday show Roberts, eight seven seven three three seven sixty six sixty six his first we hit the one o'clock CMV. We'll come your way don't pay Murray. Kosta potty other side of the glass. I'm watching the I liked right now this warrior bludgeoning of the nuggets last night. Let me tell you something. I know nobody cares. So we can do this really quickly. If you want is there a contender in the west that can knock this team off this year because the answer is no no number one contender to knock them off. Because the Denver Nuggets about a great season of call Yokich had an MVP season guys. Fantastic. Right. The warriors did last night. They send out a reminder. They said that this little reminder. That's all that's adorable Denver, you're the number one seat. That's cute. Now, we're just gonna rain freeze all over your ass back in. I now are they are leapfrog right right on the rockets of banged up. They've nobody Capellas out for six weeks. I get it. Chris Paul has been banged up. Eric Bledsoe banged up. I understand all that are not Gordon my apologies. But there just isn't a team in the Western Conference that I think could even really put up a significant fighting the Western Conference finals. So yet again, it is the Golden State warrior invitational here. And that's really the way the AFC is. Felt for the last decade in the New England Patriots invitation, and I don't know if I'm just trying to talk myself into it. But I am as optimistic about a team knocking off the patriots as I've been in a very long time because this Kansas City team feels different number one. It's in their building right, which I'm very different data. It's never been. So I I well most of the time over the last bunch of years. The patriots have played the AFC championship game at Gillette. Stay right that a handful on the road in Denver and they've lost those games. So I think the location I to the I don't wanna know four in Pittsburgh. Yeah. That was a decade ago very long time ago. But you're right since then they have not had this great road success. They haven't played a lot of games on the road. But they haven't had a great road success. And number two tyreek hill tyreek hill has been a guy over the last few meetings that they've had with Kansas City regular season in which they have been unable to stop him. And I wonder if we're really going to get an eight degree day. That's what I'm hearing leaving less than a kickoff, especially when you factor night game. Yeah. The windshield factor. Sure. And you're talking five ten below who knows maybe that will actually slow down a guy like tyreek hill things are very fast on that field. But if you look at the last couple of times they've tried to slow him down. They haven't in the chiefs offense is put up forty against the patriots and their last two meetings against them. I can't see this game being a forty three forty game. Again, it's going to be lowest scoring game. And I think this game's going to be in twenty s I really do either way it goes, I just don't think that's good. That's going to be that kind of conditions conditions. I just think now it's a little more defensive-minded. Now, you're getting into a championship game situation. I just don't see it's going to be that kind of crazy. Shootout thing. I don't see. Well, look a game in September and a game in October. And those are the last two times these teams have played each other. It's very different than a game in January. Yeah. But we've seen this chief offense and what they're capable of doing against this patriot defense in the first time wasn't with Patrick Mahomes. A quarterback that was one Alex Smith at a huge game against New England on that season. Opening Thursday night game that stadium. Both those stadium talking about times the chiefs, but a forty two and forty one the win one loss weren't playoff games playoff games, which is huge. Of course, it was significantly warmer. We're talking about September and October as compared to January and the game was in Foxborough. And here's the other factor. And I know over the last few weeks he hasn't been one because Damian Williams has done such a great job. But Kareem hunt in both of those games had a lot of success against the patriots. Especially catching the football out of the backfield. Right. And it's good as Damian Williams has been he's not quite as good as Kareem on. So that's a big negative against the chiefs offense, if they try to put up points against this. I want to see how how it's going to play out as far as what Bella checks going do defensively to try to slow down their offense. I mean, you know, he's gonna my guess, my guess is he's going to try to take Travis Kelsey. Game. That's the guy even more than Tariq recall. I think that he would focus on I don't know. But I would think that that would we be guy? He tries to eliminate from their offense in the past. Maybe he's done that because Travis Kelsey been a lot quieter against New England. Then tyreek hill has remember in that game. They played a few months ago. Now Terry kill got the end zone. Kelsey at one of his more pedestrian game, which is rare from him because he had all world year. And I think he's clearly become the best idea football. Now, Zak is probably number two. He's updates at this point. So it wasn't Kelsey who is killing him. It was tyreek hill who had three touchdowns in that game and cough hundred and forty one hundred and fifty yards bells. He was not the guy that was burning them a few months ago. I just don't see this going to be an offensive exposure game. I just don't I think it's going to be much lower scoring lowest scoring game in twenty maybe twenty four twenty one maybe something like that. Interesting to see how Patrick Mahomes reacts to the kind of weather. It's going to be. I don't know if he's got a plate, Nick weather. It's going to be as cold as that. Who has well. And I tell you this. Maybe I'm not saying this, but the older you get the tougher. It is the deal with cold weather. You wonder if a forty two year old Brady has a tough time. If it's really that cold, you wonder about that. It's funny because I think our natural reaction is to say we'll Tom Brady has a lot of experience in these horrible horrible conditions. And he does who you really think about it. And you think back to the last four years five years, and then you.
