"You look at Brian. Patrick is a big floor as guy um and an advice versa. I think he was really impressed. With the way he led the team and I think he gained a lot fans now Akron by sticking with it so I think the fact that fits at played. Well the fact that fits already really knows Chan Gailey scheme. Because he's he's been the quarterback under Chan Gailey in Buffalo New York jets as well Is going to make it a lot. Easier to say that fits is the best route for us to win. You know it's to be too is obviously going to be the better talent. But as far as knowledge as far as comfort in offense as far as you know just on a given Sunday at this point in their careers. I think you're gonNA argument a very good argument. That fits gives a MED BEST. Chance to win. And I think that's probably going to help them. Stay on track at least for the majority of the season. The dolphins trade over the weekend. I'll get to that in a second because it's an interesting move and it seemed as though it was tied to one of the running back set flew off the board moments before that trade was announced with some local ties but more on that in a second. What can you tell me about the other players that the dolphins drafted in the first two days? Yeah I guess Austin Jackson Eighteenth Pick and then I'll start with dolphins line at eighteen. Picking in thirty nine was Robert Hunt from Louisiana Lafayette These guys are going to be part of power power run. Seem like a no that dolphins stands a complained for years about the offense line out so terrible and why. We can't protect anybody and give quarterbacks killed and the dolphins tripled down this weekend. They also drafted Solomon Kinley in the fourth round. So I think you're GonNa see this team become a team of Mahler's you know the offense alignment they draft. They're all guys who loved to get in the gritty dirty in open up holes in the power. Run game so I think they really made it a priority to build a wall around two and then open up those running lanes so although they didn't have splashy picks heard from fans all weekend running backs. Where's our receiver? A be patient. I think they're they're trying to build from the ground up so I like that plan. You know whether you like the players or not. I think that's you know difference of opinion but the plan to double and triple down on the line. So that was my initial thought on those those three three big guys. They spent a lot of money in the offseason on Jones and they spent a lot of money on Howard. The previous offseason wise this organization taking yet another corner with another traffic. All the corners. That's the simple way to describe it. Brian. I think there's no position that Brian floors cares about more than quarterback. I you know I don't know if you've ever admit it. You just look at the way they. They've gone about things he. He loves to develop QUARTERBACKS THEY WANNA play a lot of man to man press coverage in. This is a league where you're seeing teams have more three receivers like you know you see team saying. Hey we're going to have all these weapons. How are you going to defend them? We're GONNA find your weakness will if you don't have any wheat corners then you don't have any weaknesses so I I think that's his plan. They WANNA scheme pressure so. They didn't spend a lot of money on a pass rush. They didn't drop a pass rusher high. They're going to spend the resources on corner so I was surprised they went corner in first round but I understand their plan whether I agree with it or not. Understand why they're going to do it. And the guy they thought they drafted no Eggy. It's GonNa be you know a great fit for what they're trying to do but wolf so the plan even though they did spend money on that Defensive Line. They don't have your ear. Hang your hat on pass. Rusher is a guaranteed pro bowler so I guess they're counting on coverage sacks however there seems to be a bit of a weakness in that secondary considering Reshad Jones no longer part of the organization the cornerbacks Ross or are there any cornerbacks that are versatile that can be moved to safety. That part of the plan in taking another corner in the first round. Well if they didn't treat Neko them maybe they would have a safety thing. But that's another conversation for another day. I think that I was actually a little surprised. I think this kind of says they WANNA keep McCain at free safety and I. I was one that thought they were absolutely gonNA move by became back to Nickel Corner Chris. He had played nickel corners. Oh career Swiss of safety so I think DRAC Nick Warren. The first round tells you that they're going to have X. Baron Jones and Noah iggy as their one two and three corners. I know he's probably going to be a slot corner in year one and they're gonNA keep Bobby McCain at free safety so you know for better for worse. I don't know if bobby can hold up their long-term he's definitely a smaller guy. He got hurt last year. I think there's still a whole I still think they need a new free safety of the future magnate on that next year but I think their plan is to keep all three of those guys at corner from there it does take some sort of Recalibration I guess from the fan base. Because like we've seen it with this organization drafting Minka Fitzpatrick Nickel Corner is essentially a starter. Yes littering the personnel. That's on the field now in today's NFL. You need three starting corners essentially and the value on the nickel corner as has skyrocketed. All right so we mentioned the running back earlier. I know a lot of Dolphin fans that are from Miami. We're kind of hoping for DJ Dallas. Who slept goes to a nice situation in Seattle? Sort clear up the timeline for because it seemed as though just from twitter not really following the draft that Day Dallas goes off the board and Breda enters the equation. What can you tell us about? This trade was San Francisco. And we're the dolphins looking to draft a running back and then had to sort of adjust their plan on the fly. Yes yes yes Day They thought they're going to running back earlier like they're playing. Their hope was the draft was to find one the first round they a lot of homework work at the top of that draft. Bryant Blowers Chris. Greer mentioned a slam the table moment in the draft where they were upset. A couple of times picks went right ahead of them in my educated guess on says it may have started at the end of the second round when they were on the draft at pick at fifty six in right at fifty five the Baltimore Ravens ticket. Dob It's and I think that could have been your your Dolphins Future Franchise quarterback if Baltimore another route That's kind of my running back. The running back at Ohio state. I think that's the guy they liked a lot in. They were hoping he fell to limit. Didn't and then they took Rick One Davis so I think that was one situation I think. Dj Dallas might have been another situation. Guy a no they liked and they did homework on so sometimes the draft does it all your way and I'm glad the dolphins were honest not like every other team. Who SAYS WE GOTTA SAC LI? Every guy that we ever want it and nobody else took our guys. It doesn't work that way and they were open so I think they have been talking to San Fran for a few days about Matt Brita and they finally pulled the trigger once. They realized they missed on top draft. What is the running game philosophy for the Miami Dolphins because Brita look the Shanahan's have been making household names that have running back said aren't exactly highly touted using a zone blocking scheme? That has really benefited. A lot of running back have their peak performance under that offense and then go other places and never to be heard from again is going to be zone blocking scheme with chain gaily not is Brita the right kind of back for whatever system. Miami is going to be running right. Actually think they're going to try to start a gap Blocking scheme which is more of a power scheme Based off what they did with their drafting their offense lines and Jordan Howard. They seem to be WANNA BE. A power runs game. And you make an interesting point about San Fran. Breda that's why. I think that you could look at Matt Brita as not necessarily a long term solution and more of a one year five and if it works then great you signed into stench if it doesn't you draft running back next year and what should be another good draft for playmakers and you do it that way. So I don't know of NAP. Read is going to be a great fit and what they're trying to do But I do know. He's fast and he's talented You put some talent on teammate. You seek it works So I I don't get upset with that plan. You know you miss out on a back that you thought could have been running back in the future so you say hey. Let's go a town as kid and see if he works. He is fast as a browns fan. I can attest to that. Can he had a nice game on Monday night? Football against them. But who's their pass catching x-factor running back. Do they see Brita as kind of Guy Jordan Howard has been yanked off the field plenty for a more versatile pass back? What is your plan in that regard? Yeah I think I think you're right on the money. I think they're going to try to make met Rita some somewhat of that pass catching back. He got better in it through his career. I think he entered. The League is not really a good pass catcher and I think over the last couple years he became a decent pass catcher. He's not you know. Alvin Kamara by any stretch of the nation. But I think they're going to try use them that way they also have Patrick Layer. Maybe they try to use him as a third down back in some situations. He did that good last year on like I said they. They haven't built a running back that you complete the names are flashy and I think it's going to be fun to watch and see if it works but I don't think there's the running back in the future is on the roster right. Yeah that's typical third down back. I think that back is on this Rosser jess yet. But there's a long time between now and the regular season. Lots of cuts lots of undrafted. Free agents What can you tell us about those undrafted free agents any exciting developments on that front? That fans should be excited about. Yeah I mean if you remember last year Preston Williams in Nick Needham were probably the best two players in the draft class in either one of the draft is so I think it's been ten straight years. The dolphins have had. Utsa they may be eleven straight years make the roster so I think the interesting portion of this UDF Day classes they they signed a kid name Benito Jones from old miss who's a nose tackle and I think he probably is the guy who has the best chance to make the roster. They don't have a true nose tackle on this roster and that's a important position in sort of the Patriot Brian Flores type defense so I had a handicap a guy right now I would say maybe he is the guy this'll be interesting off season because usually the UCF as can start to make their mark in the spring and now they're just doing virtual workouts like the dolphins started virtual workouts Monday. And how are you going to show that you can make the team as undrafted guy when all you're raising your hand in the classroom and saying yes? I know what What his own blitz is you know? So that's that's GonNa be difficult. I'm not sure if that's going to hurt the UCF as or not But I I would say Benito Jones a name that sticks out to me they signed donell Stanley out of South Carolina Ole Lyman who can play Garden Center. Maybe he sticks in a backup role So couple of names for sure but It's definitely going to be more difficult than normal for Utah to make this roster. Yeah what does this off? Season Virtual Training Program look like for the Miami. Dolphins have you ass around the organization. Yeah yes so how it works. They start today They get three straight weeks where they can essentially be virtual workouts. What that means is their own computer. Just like you know like like.

"Good afternoon from New York. I'm Chuck Todd and this is the Chuck Todd cast today. The Senate continues. Its impeachment hearings. We're GONNA have opening. Statements finally getting underway to house impeachment managers essentially with about seven eight hours per day for the next three days telling their stories of what they believe. The president did illegally and why they believe he should be ousted from office but in the business. I'm calling this. PODCAST is what we call a little bit of counter programming You might remember. There's this thing called. The Iowa caucuses. They are less than two weeks away. So we're going all in on on Iowa if you want impeachment news. That's my buddy Kornacki. He's got a wonderful article to podcasts. Go listen to it if you want Iowa listen to this one my guest Jeff Link. He's he's doing something unusual this year. He's not working. For a presidential candidates a longtime democratic strategist and Iowa and he is actually fronting a a nonprofit if it group that is trying to bring attention to rural America. It's called focus on rural America. They did some polling to the most recent poll that is out there. Jeff Link knows a lot about first first and second choice while that matters and he believes his poll later in the show. I'll be joined by Phil Rucker in Carolina there the authors of the new book. That's gotten the president's attention it's called a very stable. Genius Richly reported well source book with a lot of new detail about the president's behavior office. And what those around him did or did did not do but first jeff link. I think he's a little hesitant. Probably being so public on here I think he thinks his poll slightly better than than and sellers. But find out out we're GONNA find out well and gets high grades. There's no doubt about it. That's right. You're a new student. Good luck excellent. We'll check thanks. It's really good to be with Hugh and We're looking forward to having you out or you hide out I I. I'm hoping to be there more than just a night. it is it is All of that's up in the air for all of us Me and I'm going to have a team of people there. I'm a lot of it. Depends on where we are in the Senate trial and where duty calls on on that front. But it's It's let me ask you this. How far less than two weeks away? How much has the impeachment trial trial? been like a wet blanket on Iowa I. I don't think it's been that much of a wet blanket. I I I honestly don't think people are tracking the impeachment impeachment. Trial Minute by minute. I people here. No it's going on but You know honestly whether below zero the last three days. That was more of of a topic of conversation than the impeachment trial largely. Because I think people believe McConnell has put the fix in on this and it's just a matter of how long it's it's GonNa take before McConnell does what he wants to do anyway It's unfortunate for the senators that that are stuck in DC and are able to campaign out here in New Hampshire But I I don't think people are really kind of on the edge of their seats with this one all right Not You and I have. I've I've been a source on multiple caucuses I we've been through four or five of these competitive Democratic caucuses in one way or the other Compare this one to eight four in two thousand and sort of you know I. I think this feels more like oh four than any of the others in in sort of the last couple of decades. But you tell me Yeah I swell and I'm old enough to remember eight. I started Working on the first Joe Biden for president right about eight hundred eighty eight or eighty four very similar so yes. I'm glad you brought up eighty. Yeah I think bigger field so I think it feels like Like eight in. Oh four in in eight. There were a lot of candidates but essentially at this point. It was all about Obama Obama and Clinton and Edwards. Let's not forget it was a genuine three way race. Yes it was. It was but this is different because you know we have Ford five way race. You think there's four four different potential winter or not and I do I think it is just as plausible for any of the top four to win and as it is for any of the top four to get fourth. How about fifth and is in his at behind? uncommitted or behind me Well you know we. We asked in our poll whether if your first choice was not viable meaning not at fifteen percent of the people that attend your precinct What will you do will you Caucus for somebody else we go uncommitted stay uncommitted or will you go home and Seventeen percent said they would stay uncommitted committed and that means that we could have a number of precincts that elect a delegate to the county convention as uncommitted. Well it's not the uncommitted as one one before people forget Jimmy never won the Ivankov. That's right. He finished second right He did what the new rules on. UNCOMMITTED I WANNA fill people in unlike previous years. You could sit on committed when you got to your precinct. And if they even whether whether the uncommitted grouping made threshold of fifteen percent or not and you could still leave it this time. The rules indicate that uncommitted treated like a candidate. And if you hit fifteen thresholds been made and you can't lose support. Yeah Yeah it's it's a big change And I- in any group. If you're if you're with a candidate who's viable you can't move and you know in the past If you were say you were with the with the candidate with the most people in your caucus sometimes you would send Some of your group Group To another campaign so that they could get a delegate Right to keep your your opponent the most dangerous opponent from getting the extra trudell at you. You send people to somebody else and that sort of gamesmanship is gonNA be Either more limited or it's going to be a little trickier to execute cute. Let me. Let's go through things a little bit here. The top four candidates who's who of those four who's got the the the least amount of statewide coverage if you get my drift right. I my guess. Is that both Bernie and Biden have wide support support. Meaning they'll probably be make threshold in the most precincts. Is that a fair assessment. Or Am I over looking Warren here. A little bit I think Nick Warren probably makes threshold in in most precincts as well and Pete is a little uneven I gotta I I think all four make threshold in a lot of places you know. There's you think that fifteen is a hard floor even for Warren I look. I'll be honest I have. It feels like warns bleeding support. Well but remember. She had the strongest organization the earliest they have been everywhere. They have strong relationships. CBS throughout the state with their precinct captains and with their organization. So I remember being told that about Dick Gephardt two thousand four. How did that work out? Well I I would. I would put the Warren Organization up against the Gephardt Organization in. Oh four Any Day of the week They they really have done a nice job. And you gotTa give them credit had it for that And so I think that's that's kind of sustained her even though she was down in our poll from where she was in September. She's still in second place she's she's still above viability I think I think she's GonNa be a factor Amy Yang Star. Yup I assume amy has basically her strength is probably I assume north. You know the closer to Minnesota a stronger she gets. I think so and I think she'll do pretty well in western Iowa. Okay spent more time there than most right. She's done the floods she she made. Yeah upstairs she she made a big deal out of being. Hey this is like the iron range. Yeah that's right. And she did the ninety nine counties so she's she's been everywhere where although she hit like twenty seven counties in two or three days in December so everybody knows that trick. Yeah okay that graphic but I I gotta tell you I was. I was having coffee with somebody. This morning. who is expected to be a warrant supporter in she said. Yep I think I'M GONNA end up with with closure I think I think club could Have a good night on On Caucus night to mourn register endorsement. You know newspaper. Endorsements mean less and less all the time per democratic primary voters in certain communities still care about certain newspaper endorsements and is that still the case with the register You know the registers GonNa have an impact in centralized. I think it state-wide imprimature is is not what it once was. I mean you know back in the eighty eight cycle or Ninety two or two thousand I think thank statewide. It had more of an impact didn't really help Edwards and four. I mean Edwards basically went from fifth to second and I think it was a surprise. Yeah when when it's when it's news I don't think they're going to endorse two candidates. I bet they pick one But I think It'll be interesting to see I. I wouldn't be surprised if they pick KLOBUCHAR or if they pick budget I had somebody. That's what I keep hearing is that it's down to those two somebody tell me that it really depends ultimately what the editorial page team thinks their mandate is meaning. Are they there to protect Iowa's place in the process. And if that's that's the case that's one type of candidate and if they're there to represent mid Westerners then that's perhaps another rationale for who they pick pick like it of it as someone said to me who's been through the process with the editorial going through the interview it's clear saving preserving Iowa's status as an important first state matters a lot to the editorial board and that will have some impact on who they pick. Well it'll be interesting to see what their rationale is You know I think the register editorial board will be in a similar position to a lot of Iowans right now. And that is the really conflicted. what we saw in our poll Five or six candidates. Seven candidates have extremely high favorables You Know Net plus sixty plus sixty five The Iowans like this field and I think that's part the reason why they're having such a hard time settling on a candidate. is because that they're satisfied with the field they like what what Each of these candidates is saying A and and how they're representing themselves and I think that's why the reason that they're satisfied with the field or they like all these candidates but they haven't been convinced either one any the Mar- the are the answer to be trump. Well certainly the the premium is is if someone could look in the mirror and say oh well this is the candidate that can beat trump in November..

"Bumper music from one superhero, Jan Michael Vincent in his silent helicopter wolf to another. But a real one congressman Jim Jordan representing Ohio's district. Welcome aboard. Jim. Never had that kind of introduction. I know I'm going to be with you. Which we try to make it a little bit different here in America. I welcome. Listen, your name is mentioned frequently on this show is a handful of the people on Capitol Hill that actually has the presence back of the hundreds of people in the Senate and the house that have the letter I'll behind the name there's about a dozen who actually believe in the make America, great, again agenda and try and support the president. Can you help for those who are being caught in the Barra's of of rhino excuses to explain to our listeners why what happened last week with those twelve senators was a travesty, and why what the president is doing is not unconstitutional when it comes to the southern wolf, please Jim Jordan. There's a statute there. There's a statute that gives the president thirty when there's an emergency. Murky declaration and to deal with it. That's exactly what is happening. Right. And anyone with common sense concede? It I I asked him on the other day how many caravans does it take before? It's an emergency. I think we're on the fifth one we need to six to seven thousand eight. Do we need an endless caravan? Do we need another bus on the border drug bust? Whether where they got enough sitting to kill fifty seven million Americans. Do we need to kill fifty eight nine fifty. What's it going to take? So obviously, this is an emergency. Unfortunately, these somebody's Republicans just wouldn't go there wouldn't do the right foot boat. My judgment. I think what's interesting is the individuals who voted no, most of them were the same folks who last congress where we controlled everything didn't want to deal with the border security wall, then either. And that's I think kinda the real issue here not this constitutional concern that some break. Let me ask you about the other side of the aisle, then I don't need to disclose any secrets here. But but when you talk off. Line with the Democrats. How do they justify a one eighty degree flip flop on this issue from twenty two thousand and six I is it just because Donald Trump's the president? I mean what what is going on here? It's a crazy laugh. They think it helps him politically. I mean think about the positions that take Earl Blumenauer congressman said abolish, I uh secretary Clinton. When she ran for president said, she wants a borderless embassy Nancy Pelosi. You said Walzer immoral even though there's one between Tijuana and San Diego, interstate right? Maybe the the kicker is Dave Abrams who gave the response to this day of the union speech by the president the lady gave the response is on record as saying she's okay with noncitizens voting, right? This is driven by the radical left. They think it helps him politically to just focus solely on being against the president. But as you, and I know in spite of everyone who's trying to stop the president. He's had an amazing amazing two and a half years at the president of the United States. So what you're saying is the radicals have successfully taken over the democrat party. I mean think about think about the idea that they cheer on Capri Nick Warren he disrespects to flag they cheer on governor Cuomo. When he made the statement, America's never that. Great. And they Chiro Maxine Waters when she says go out and harass anyone who supports the president. That's the radical left today you've seen in the crazy policies. They're pushing forward the green new deal their positions on immigration there. Seventy percent marginal tax break getting rid of all private health insurance. This is where they're at. And it's all about radical left position stopping the president not about what's good for the country. So where does this end they won't be able to turn over his veto is this just going to be battled out is the national emergency going to be battled out in the courts or or will be some political resolution. Jim, jordan. They will they will bring it back up. The democrats. The speaker of the house name sports who will bring it up veto override attempt next week. We will stop that the vast majority Republicans are going to stick with the president because it's the right thing to do. And it's what the American people send us there to do. So he will his veto will be upheld. And then there'll be a battle in court. But I think in the meanwhile, the president needs to start to get the contract signed start doing anything and everything he can on the border. You actually put up the barrier. Like, we promised the American people. We were gonna do. Very clear message for the president. Lastly in the last two minutes, we have left with Representative. Jim Jordan, follow him at Jim underscore, Jordan. How are you feeling right now is one of the real fight is in the trenches? How are you feeling about the conservative agenda and the twenty twenty election? Okay. Great. I mean in our state of Ohio, Ohio, typically viewed as one of the bellwether states for the country. You win Ohio. You can win the White House right now if the election were held today, the president would win four sure I don't care who they put up on the other side. And frankly, I think it'd be just as strong maybe stronger than it was in sixteen when he went on a state by eight and a half points. So I feel really good about the presence. And and and again, it comes down to the basics tax cut regulations. Reduced economy growing at an unbelievable rate. Lowest unemployment years Gorsuch Cavanaugh both on the court. We're out of the Iran deal. The embassies in Jerusalem, hostages are home for North Korea. There's a new NAFTA agreement on the way that's a pretty darn good record for two and a half years for goodness sake. And he's done all that. This is what gets me he's done all that. With the Democrats tightening the mainstream press lightning. An establishment Republicans fighting that has all been accomplished in a short time. Well, as long as we have you there in the handful of others meadows gates, Nunez, Zeldin Crenshaw, holding the line will do just finding twenty twenty. You have been listening to Jim Jordan, Republican from Ohio schools district. Keep doing what you do. Jim follow him at Jim undescored, Jordan. Thank you so much. He he is fighting the good fight for what is right for our nation. U2. have been fighting good fight for those who are far less fortunate than we are and who we can help what am I talking about? Of course, our campaign for the last three weeks food for the poor with your help..

I mean what what is going on here? It's a crazy last. I think it helps them politically. I mean think about the positions that take Earl Blumenauer congressman said abolish, I uh secretary Clinton when she ran for president wants a borderless embassy. Nancy Pelosi you said Walzer immoral even though there's one between Tijuana and say yeah, go interstate. Maybe the the kicker is Abrams who gave the response to this day the union speech by the president. The lady gave the response is on record as saying she's okay with noncitizens voting, right? This is driven by the radical left. They think it helps them politically to just focus solely on being against the president. But as you, and I know in spite of everyone who's trying to stop the president. He had an amazing amazing two and a half years as the president of the United States. So what you're saying is the radicals have successfully taken over the democrat party. I mean think about think about the idea that they cheer on capper Nick Warren, he disrespects to fly they cheer on governor Cuomo. When he made the statement, America's never that. Great. And they cheer on Maxine Waters when she says go out and harass anyone who supports the president. That's the radical left today you've seen in the crazy policies. They're pushing forward green new deal their positions on immigration there. Seventy percent marginal tax break getting rid of all private health insurance. This is where they're at. And it's all about radical left position stopping the president not about what's good for the country. So where does this end they won't be able to turn over his veto is this just going to be battled out is the national emergency gonna be battled out in the courts or or will be some political resolution in Jordan. They will they will bring it back up. The democrats. The speaker of the house will bring it up veto override attempt next week. We will stop that the vast vast majority Republicans are going to stick with the president because it's the right? Thing to do. And it's what the American people send us there to do. So he will his veto will be upheld. And then there'll be a battle in court. But I think in the meanwhile, the president needs to start to get the contract signed start doing anything and everything he can on the border to actually put up the barrier. I feel great. I mean in our state of Ohio, Ohio, typically viewed as one of the bellwether states for the country. You win Ohio. You can win the White House right now. The election were held today. The president would win four sore. I don't care who they put up on the other side. And frankly, I think it'd be just as strong maybe stronger than at one of them sixteen when he won our state by eight and a half points. So I feel really good about the presence. And and and again, it comes down to the basics. Tax cut regulations. Reduced the economy growing at an unbelievable rate. Lowest unemployment years Gorsuch Cavanaugh both on the court were out of the Iran deal. The group an establishment Republicans fighting that has all been accomplished in a short time. Well, as long as we have you there in the handful of others meadows gates, Nunez, Zeldin Crenshaw, holding the line will do just finding twenty twenty. You have been listening to Jim Jordan Republican from Ohio district. Keep doing what you do. Jim follow him at Jim underscore, Jordan. Thank you so much. He he is fighting the good fight for what is right for our nation. You to have been fighting the good fight for those who are far less fortunate than we are and who we can help what am I talking about? Of course, our campaign here for the last three weeks food for the poor with your help. We have gone at enough support to provide food for fifty five families suffering in the west of the station since the Haitian earthquake food for a year and clean water for life. Just listen how even small gifts make a huge difference?.

"The shoulder, right, mornings and afternoons WIBC traffic. I e three P C. Bracelets cetera. Michigan. Michigan state thirty one twenty eight to get the second half of basketball terrific first appar- Indiana, battling through adversity watch again for shooting in the first half. It started out good. But then it just kind of watch south, but Indiana hung in there because they really play at that. They really dead and held Michigan state to under fifty percent shooting from the field fourteen years just under forty four percent, Indiana battle and on the glass, I four minutes of the second half is about as important a four minutes that we're going to see in the end has been on a seven game losing streak. They're coming into a really tough environment to win. They played a good first half the right in the ball game at Michigan state will try to respond here. And if Indiana can continue to compete and fight here for the first four minutes to set the tone here for the second half. I cannot explain how important it is for nanna here to get off their good start. Geron davis. Devante I take that back. Justin smith. Al rob, busy Rubio Lankford. We'll start the second half for Indiana Rubio will unbowed. The cups. Brexit across the. He goes right with a pastor Rubio. The left handed Dirac top of the key fakes and throws. The Justin Smith right side to Al he weaves it back to the top pass down to the corner. To Rubio inside the Doron Davis Davis. Dick war, down low whistle blows. We gotta follow Nick ward. Pushing back there. One. The Ron is really tough on. He does a great job taking time using his size toback down the defender. Have you tried to guard Doron Davis one I want even a guy of Nick ward size. It's going to be a tough handle defensively. Indiana's that a nice job hide in the big man down low. When he demands the ball. He's done a nice job when he catches it. Rob fantasy will trigger the bad boy better. She looks get sedan to Justice Garate feeds Al Durham top of the data finish. He looks Dorada. Veron Davis backs down Nick ward hook shot. God davis. Part of the ball game. Playing one of his best games in a long time and really nearing a season high of ten now, here's cash grinds imploded Nick ward what's opera shot rebound fought for whistle blows. And I got a call for a foul. Ron did a good job Donahue. He got underneath rather than pick up. His third foul hand straight up in the air. Nick ward misses the bunny, but that's a great example of the maturation of Doron Davis. He did a great job learning from his mistakes and not valid goes against the abandoned. Nick ward left side of the circle back off the air and Henry goes baseline on the drive almost went up and down to. ES styling blow the whistle and Indiana ball the turnover by Michigan state. That was their fourth of the wall. Here's. We've out the Romeo and the top of the key dribble. Takes it to the left side to Justice now right side past the Durham, he drives back down to the corner to only lost the ball right out of his hands into the hands. Aaron Henry, drives it and it stripped away by Al. Now, he says the Justice takes it inside forces to shot up wall. Go got his own rebound. Deanna comes up with another big bash. I can't tell you what how awesome of a play that was by Durham Michigan state had numbers, and I'll just dove in there and got the steel on Henry ought to know where their pitched the ball up ahead of Justice Smith who did a great job finishing around the rim. Nice play defensively from out Durham turn that momentum there for gasoline. Smith six point of the ball game. He is however with Adam. That's barely touches. The front of the rim of the free throw. No freeport play there. But has got the league longer. Play with an open. Comes up with his first basketball game thirty four thirty two. She stayed up. Here's my past the Durham backs it out rise it back left back right at the Justice. Hey, looks at guys has it back to Durham now slides between the circles tries Rubio dumps it into Doron Davis on the right baseline works on Nick ward into the lay turns around and other job hook short Greb fought for pickup by Doron. And he was fouled baron Henry filed hell. The second followed Hamrick. I don't know about that. They might check to see the shot clock. Reset witness shouldn't have that might be Michigan state's ball here. The shot clock. Definitely reset. I don't think the ball hit the ram, and I also don't know fish we stayed ever had full possession there. They may give this ball to Michigan state. Well, we'll have to wait and see. The officials have come over to take. A look Jay forester is getting sat he will check in here after the break to find out what the time on the Clark says. We'll just have to wait Davis has got to get a break. He will sit down for a rest. He is not in great shape campaign because he just so much practice. You can tell you know, anything about basketball. You get your big man taking a fifteen foot fadeaway, John Hawke just means he's gassed, and he can't get low post possession. Right. He's done a great job establishing that low post possession. But a few times up and down the court all of a sudden he doesn't have the energy to get down low on the block and the defense pushing amount fifteen feet. I love that substitution coach Archie Miller. You got to recognize when you're big man's gas. Bring in a Saab, let's get a break here. And then bring him back in the game. You got to play him in spurts. He just not quite the conditioning that he needs to compete at the highest level right now. Right now, we're waiting for the officials to make a determination on what they're gonna to put up on the clock as everyone waits to see what the replay shows they're going to do is wait to see if there should have been a shot clock violation on Indiana. That's what they're checking right now if it is. Will not have the ball. They'll the ball to Michigan state here because that shot clock reset. And indiana's. Which I think's a good call for Indiana. But that's shot clock. Reset netball never hit show the taking the foul away. Right. There were taken the fallaway. Yep. Show. It'll be Michigan state basketball hotbeds, Nick cashless, western western, we'll bring it up which then gets it across the timeline. Now, western takes it to the right side. J foresters in with Justin Smith, Rubio lacquered, Al Durham and robbed at ASEAN. Here's western with a drive throws up a shot, and they call the following. Fantasy fantasy gets nail. That'll be his second of the ballgame. Cash. Winston a nice job. Just weep in the ball to the left wobbles out pressuring the basketball too far away from the rim. Caches is just too. Good downhill, take you to the basket. He's so sneaky able to draw that foul really nice play by cashless. Winston two free throws coming to Winston. The first is good. His eleventh won the contest. He's a seventy nine percent shoot around the season. Seventy six percent from the line in big ten play. And he will try to make this a four point contests. Seventeen forty to go here in the second half of play. He does wellpoint staffer Winston trails by cross the line, eldora with the basketball. Has between the circles fires? Rain who replaces fantasy green drives it back to the right all the way to the hole throws up a shot blocked by Nick and cashless. Winston got knocked down there. But it'll be Indiana's basketball. Pujols. We'll have it underneath role bucket. And who's draft Rodin? It'll be devante grains. Rain looks. Dora. Out to the top of the key. Fires. Robie? He drives back the Durham, right? Fires up a three good. Oh, good. On the lights left shot. He brings it down across the time line forces, a three rebound, Jake forester, for Indiana worser goes after every rebound, I can tell you that often gray gray with it slides it to the right? Broza left adjusted Smith, he drives inside down low. Throws it up draws the foul. Didn't make the shot, but he'll go to live. Nice drive by Justin that time. Going did not have his feet set gave Justin the lane. That's one thing gusting loves to do Donna's put his head down and try to get to the rim. And if you give him that angle, he's a very effective driver of the basketball that time is able to draw the foul looked like it was on goings on orange orange. Okay. He's gonna go to the free throw line here shooting to Justin Smith goes to the stripe. He missed his first free. Throw the ball game. It wasn't air ball. That's why they're giving a chat right now. He has really struggled at the stripe in big ten play. Only fifty percent. It's below that percentage. After to you'll have a chance to back again, if he conduct down this one and the second is going. Now for Justice Speth Indiana's a thirty six thirty three trailer with a ball. Here's mcquaid outside the lines down low. There's a foul called, and I think Jake forester. Nick, Warren does such a good job sprint and the court uses that two hundred and fifty pounds and just leans on you. That's a mismatch right there for Jay forester. But he's fighting right now for that position was arose against Indiana. And the inbound George. Off the mcquaid download award. He double teams throws it the mcquaid back ward ward against Jay forester inside. I spend move shot partially blocked up in the air adjusted script, I think is going to be called for a foul from the weak side. Indian had a double team down. Michigan state did a nice job. Just being patient continue to pass the ball to Nick ward down the block could have been on Jay forester, too, though. Good defense from Indiana. Just a better offensively by nNcholas. So ward goes to the free throw line. He's got four points in the game. All scored on two field goals in the first half. And he still has only fours. He misses the first free toss. He's at seventy two percent of his free throws in big ten play. But only sixty eight percent overall on the season. He misses his first one. This contest is second is also no gun the rebound batted up in the air and knocked away scramble by guards. And finally agreed steals the ball. He lost the first second throws at the Romeo. He gets downloaded Justin Smith. He takes it and throws it up kept up. No good again. No battle inside Scott it again, a battle. Well, I'll tell you what. They are. But again, coach Archie Miller talking to all the officials back by Romeo Langford slack right on the arm. Been going. Indiana's. They're not getting the benefit of the right now, the tough environment. Here coaches used to get a lot of calls here. Please. Justice web asked the city's got his third tasha's Wetzlar with the basketball. Winston throws it back left and mcquaid mcquaid. Looks inside throws it out the Tobin top of the key Zander replacement. Here's a drive by Winston left. Fakes had has the ball tipped the wife grabbed. Devante green to keep it from getting the ball. They throw up a runner at grows. Gets his fourteen point. I just applied out throw up to the ref. Here's Alghero rides lap. Pulls. It back out takes between the circles goes to the right throws. It back left. For three. Fester hall, his first three pointer forever. He's got his first basketball ball, thirty eight thirty six Indiana down to here's Tobon batches, download a war ward against forest or inside works, and they're going to call it. Another can't check Foulon, Jay forester. That'll be his third. So now, the guys are all getting to the foul. Trouble in Indiana is going to have to try to do a better job of keeping their hands off the people. The floor. Fifteen thirty left in day. That's a two point contests..

"And and have just really taken to to the competition of each. Other. So I think they both help their stock by going at each other this week in those the battles you like to see when there's just two guys who are going to be draft drafted highly one way or the other. They'll both probably be off the board by I I would guess by the end of the second round. But things happen certainly say by by the end of day to and they match up really well rock measured in a little bit smaller than I think people were expecting which it happens. And yet he was listed. I think temple listen met like six one six two, and I think he measured in under six foot, which was very surprising to me. But he's got he's got long arms. He's got the arms of about six one six two quarters. So that kind of does make up for it. Yeah. That's that's good to see. Because then they then they've got that links to reach it in break up passes or. You know, high point the ball, even if they are necessarily that toll. They've got the I suppose catch denial radius. I think I might have just invented a new term, but will run with it. Yeah. You heard it here. I catch denial radius. I might be streamlined that streamlined that a little bit. That term. I I am going to use that also. Samuel on the other hand he did not measure in smaller than people were expecting. Nobody was expecting him to be over six foot. He came in at five eleven change and weighed in at I think to sixteen he did have larger hands. And I think a lot of people expected which might have him on the giants radar. I don't expect them to be thinking about wide receiver high enough to take him or early enough to take him. But if he's the highest guy on their board, they'll at least think about it and his hands came in ten eight and the giants have always favored big hands in their receivers. If you're received with big hands. Odds are the giants are going to at least look at you. But the two of them also clocked in as among the fastest players in practice believe it was yesterday. Who's either yesterday or the first day have to look at the date the? For the first day. Top depots top speed was clocked. Twenty one point one miles an hour and rock was at twenty point three. So they can run, and when you got a wide receiver who can separate really well who's got a really good release and a db who's got really good coverage. That's just as just a good battle. Absolutely. And it's been real fun to watch. So I think before we get to at some of the other positions. I want to bring up just one other wide receiver who might have been the most impressive wide receiver this week in that is Teri Lauren of Ohio State. He is someone we did not bring up in the wide receiver episode or the senior bowl preview episode, and I kind of feel bad about it now because he should have been. He is second overall in target yards added which again just takes wide receivers yards per target. Subtracts the quarterbacks yards per tempt to all other. Levers, which just takes what receiver attitude offense, and he is number two in this class right now. So right now right behind manual manual hall has has a healthy lead over everybody. But he's just above Andy Isabella who I talked about a lot as a target yards added favorite. So Nick Warren has been really impressive. He's shown I think better route running than a lot of people expected. He has the deep speed that a lot of people have expected. He's been able to do that on his also been baking plays in the special teams drills. There was one play. He was a gunner for Iowa State. And there was one drill. They were doing which it was just a gun drill. And he was lined up against two guys. And he just went to the outside and ran straight pass them and was not touched. So if you're looking for a guy who can contribute with big plays on offense and also contribute like that..

Samuel giants Andy Isabella Nick Warren Iowa State Teri Lauren Ohio State six foot six one six two quarters

"Suggestions for Vegas NBA teams. And I'm just gonna let spo- lane. Reveal the by far. Hands down winner. And then everybody else is playing for second place. Well, let's let's run down some of the runner ups. Okay. So we have the Vegas. Relax. That's bad. No offense. To the snake is no cosmos is okay. Let's see flamingos. Okay. That hotel very with all pink Younis. This one though is by far the best one by far. And I'm going to take out one of the words in here. But the Las Vegas rhinos. Why did you take out spearmint? I don't know if they'd be able to get spearmint in there. Well, if they sponsor like, okay, all the NBA teams have that little logo this year right on the on the left jersey, strap whatever you wanna call that a look up the logo of the spearmint rhino. Would work. I mean, why not? Look, you're going to have some sort of Vegas related. Whatever be the sponsor. That's on the jersey. Just have the whole thing be that. So this is the this is the logo. It's I'm just showing it to all you'd have to put is that low put a little right? Oh there. You don't have to say anything else. Everybody knows you play in Vegas. I like it. What's the is? It the. The bunny ranch. It's out there. Yeah. That'd be another one. The rabbits is that. Isn't that the one where Lamar Odom was asthma say, there's already an NBA tie. That's where you found and resuscitated Lamar Odom back to life. I think the guy that runs it died. So I think that that might hurt it a little bit better him than Lamar. I guess. It's like every time. I think of Lamar Odom. I don't think about his Lakers tenure, I don't think about uconn does where he went right? You Rhode Island Rhode Island? I'm sorry. I knew it was up in the northeast thing. Yeah. Exactly. He got paid goes, exactly. I don't think about I don't even think about the the bunny ranch. I think about Johnny drama walking up to him on his entourage camera and going Lamar. Got nice cat. That was a great depth. Cavs and how Johnny drama wants to get his Cavs amazing. That's a great Ari gold sitting courtside at a Lakers game yelling at the route three from out here. If I want to pay. Hundred bucks for these. Joe you gotta find that sound bite of aria. Make sure that he doesn't swear. He does wear it at the clean it up. And that was a real ref to that was a real game. What was it who's the right? It was I think it was f- rusher. Ed is one of the ads. It was. I think it was he's retired. Now, he works the league. Okay. He works for the league. But he was like a you the finals ref, basically. Yeah. Yeah. No. He was one of the good ones. Actually, I think Eddie f rush was one of the good officials. It's sad that I know the good ones. All you NBA games in the they become such a fabric of the actual game. Yeah. It was it was at f- rush. Awesome. He's only fifty seven years old. He's still be out there. You got great calves. I don't know what I want to hear more the Johnny drama, Cavs drop or Ari. Gold courtside at a Lakers game. We'll give the wrath. Yeah. We'll give you. We'll give Joe time to to maybe put both of those together we're doing production on the floor. The other one we got Johnny drama. With Lamar asking Lamar Odom about his calves in. Ari gold yelling at fans sitting courtside. I've already got that one pulled. I believe they're playing the warriors. I wanna say during. Yes, not the old school like two thousand. In my screen shot. I see Mike Dunleavy, right? Junior is all you need to know. And. They've gotten Larry Hughes. They were so bad for so long was number one on the Lakers. That's mush mush Parker. Horgan? Saul was even they're probably let me see how this is post shack pre Powell Gosol, which was basketball reasons trade that I I've never seen. Daryl more and more furious than the day that we were there practice and that trade had been nixed by David Stern for basketball reasons. He was so smart. He was always smarmy. He was especially smarmy at the end just like give it for like five years. He was he was a character. So I believe that warriors team would have had like Andreas beard, you're and sonnet and Calbert Cheaney Baron Davis. Monty Ellis Derek Fisher was still around. That's when he was when the warriors paid him he somehow wound up getting out of that contract. There'd fishing is very good at getting out of contracts. Derek Fisher forget being one of the most hated athletes in the history of Houston. Sports everything that he did was slimy. Still. Eight still slimy. He had his name this week tied to Jeff Baso his current girlfriend divorcing his wife over what was her. Name. Lauren Sanchez something like that said more Bo talks in her cheeks. She's a pilot. Do you remember his Derek Fisher had that he had that one playoff game when he was with Utah and his daughter had like the yeah. In her eyes. Some some terrible thing. So we had to fly in late to a game. And it was all Derek Fisher. What a he's a hero. I never bought it. And then you learn he divorced that wife. And then you learn so much of this other stuff about Derek Fisher is just such a piece of crap. How's it possible that Kobe Bryant the most likeable part of that Lakers backward between him and Derek Fisher? Kobe Bryant retired is downright likeable. When I saw the Jalen rose commercial with Eighty-one olives in the drink order. I was dying. I've seen that one. Oh, it's so good. They are. He's sitting in a restaurant. Jalen, rose, walks up. Hey, man, how's retirement treating that kind of thing? And the the the waiter walks up, and he says, what would you like to drink and Jalen order says? And then Kobe says all of the MARTINI. He's like how many hours would you like, and he goes Eighty-one, and he just stares at Jalen and Jalen stares back, and there's this long like ten second pause. It's so great and Jalen rose blades. They Sam Mitchell forgetting lit up. And then he marries Molly quorom, and you know, it all all works out at the ever after. Yeah. Exactly. You got the sound bites. Joe? All right. We'll get to that will bump back with him. Yeah. We'll come back with him. In the meantime, I could talk like random NBA stuff with lane forever. But what did you think of the Cowboys firing their offensive coordinator today? Scotland hand he had been at the helm since two thousand fourteen DAT came in fifteen correct. I think he was sixteen probably right because we're in one thousand nine hundred nineteen sixteen because that was two years ago. When all of a sudden, they were really good. So he's fallen off. And look the the Cowboys have fallen off a bit. They they had a three and five start this year. Coming off that close to the two thousand seventeen season in which they scored more than twenty points. Just once in the final month and missed the playoffs. So in the first eight games of this past regular season. They scored more than twenty points just twice they're bad. They were bad there, really bad. And you know, it's funny. I was looking at at Twitter this afternoon when I was doing the show prep, and I saw our good buddy, drums Solomon. He said, you know before you because somebody asked about the Texans. It always comes back to the Texans. Whether it's the Cowboys or anybody else, you can always try and relate it to your team. Should the Texans? Hiring offense coordinator, that's obviously been out there. But as John MacLean said, and I tend to agree with them. If the Texans were going to hire an offensive coordinator done it already like I feel like that's true though, because it's Bill O'Brien, and he's Bill O'Brien controls everything. But before you ask what the Texans should hire one. And I still I think they should because I just don't think it's it's working with the offense. And you've got it's like having a Ferrari, and you don't know how to drive stick shift just know that Houston's offense was better than Dallas's across the board and with an offensive line virtually every every which way you can look at it, which is crazy because we know about the the red zone woes. We know about the inability to score in the playoffs, for example. But yet you look at the Cowboys they were markedly worse in had you could argue better because Dak Prescott is cancelled out because the Shawn's better. But Ezekiel Elliott Lamar Miller. Nobody's putting those phone conversation. Lamar Miller's top tier running back in the league in that offensive line. It's not as good as it was. Yeah. You said Lamar Miller is the top two running back. Yeah. That's that's all right. I'll just making sure people knew that you didn't mean that. No, I I just miss speak. Sometimes it happens. I'm kind of an idiot. The offensive line has fallen off a little bit in Dallas compared to what it was. It's still good. It's still light years better than the Texans their wide receivers. They're they they don't have hopping. They don't have a Hopkins. But Amari Cooper showed signs serviceable serviceable, and he's out there. I think that he can probably be a number one receiver for I'm a little surprised that they did it. I think there was a lot of public pressure. That's when into that. And I'm a little surprised that they gave into the public pressure pressure for what to get rid of Scotland hand. Oh, I think that's what it I think that was the problem more than anything else is that it was there was a lot of pressure publicly though. I mean, I'm just surprised that they went that way. Because there's been a lot of pressure for them to fire Jason Garrett for the last few years. He's trying to get an extension, and he's probably gonna get one too. And he did just enough to probably to get one. That's just terrible Texans teams doing with their head coaches to me. It's just strange, and I wanna stay on the Lenihan thing real. Because like you said that offense was really good a couple of years ago and it's fallen off. But it's amazing. How quick teams already just move on from somebody will do you think that Dak seemingly regressing is that a safe word to say for him because compare okay, his rookie year is great as well. And they were one of the I hate to say this because I'm sitting here in Houston. And I can't stand them. But they were one of the best stories in the NFL that year because because of Dak and what they were doing because you had Jerry not allow or Jerry, son. I should say Stephen not allow Jerry and company to take Johnny football. Johnny Manziel when they wanted him. Instead, take offense of Lyman. It's a it's. Zack martin. Yeah. Nick, Warren's older brother, nixed, the one place here, right? Yeah. Because you made those moves all of a sudden you had this really good in that season was the best in the NFL. Maybe the last couple of seasons. It has been you had something going there. And now, I think I think doc regressing is a big part of it. Their receivers are worse now de well. Yeah. But that's as much as anybody else. But their receivers were worse up until they got Amari Cooper because their skill position guys outside of Zeke Elliott were really bad this year up until that one is probably their best receiver. And that's not the Cooper thing. You remember? They lost Jason Witten too. So lost that security blanket. I wish he they still had him. Because then that means listening to him in the booth. Oh my God. He was terrible this year. It was not a great listen. I'm not a big territory fan either. I know that whole booth was just horrible. You know, I don't mind Booker. I don't mind Booker. Isn't it crazy that you would rather have Whitten playing and have Gruden not coaching because it would be like? I like Gruden coaching because I didn't like him. I don't know. What could have? I don't know what he could say in peace just gonna do. Crazy. That's that was the beauty of. He has carte blanche to do whatever he wants us an NFL. Hey, let me tell you right now. I got a crush on that quarterback over there. He's got a tight backs. Like, he would just say the most off the wall stuff. Yeah. It's that's a that's an interesting situation. Because you think Jason Garrett is going to be there. But but who are they going to bring in because again Jason Garrett there because he's a good little soldier for Jerry Jones that I mean, that's like the not so dirty little secret there. So whoever you bring in has to be different. I don't I think they're gonna go. Jason Garrett two point. Oh, like bringing somebody from within. They're are gonna take a career backup. Who's all sudden quarterback coach? Now, he's going to be offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. I think it's going to be the guy. Wow. They're and they're just gonna do exactly with him. What they did. With Jason Gary. I wonder though, if they just give Jason Garrett more power to run the offense to say, you you have your defensive staff over there lead Jason Garrett solely focused on the opposite. Because I think that's what you're seeing more and more with coaches in the NFL is that you have your head coach handles one side of the ball. And then he's either offense coordinator defense coordinator. Handles the other side. That's what you have here. And that's why I'm kind of in a little disagreement with you on the O'Brien thing. I'm okay with how they are structured offensively. Now O'Brien has to do the job better. But the problem that you run into let's say, you're okay with him calling play when you say that guess because let's say that they go out and they hire somebody else to run the offense. If that guy does a really good job guess what he's gone in a year. And so now, you lose all that continuity that you had your trying to to get Watson and the rest of that often into a system. It goes great. The hate the the offense coordinator leaves her head coach job. And now you're starting over with somebody else. So I'm a big believer in continuity, and you look at the teams that are still playing any read has been in Kansas City now for what five six years. And so a lot of those guys a lot of those guys have been there for a while drew Brees, and Sean Payton have been together for a decade and a half Tom Brady and Bill bell checking you can even throw Josh mcdaniels in with that they've been together for a long time, continuity matters because..
