"If you go back to the eagles opening press conference with our new head coach, so many eagles fans were going dude, this dude, our new head coach Nick sardini is slamming more Red Bulls than coach O at LSU. I mean, he's so amped up it's ridiculous, and that coach, which so many people were laughing at. All of a sudden now has the eagles into playoffs with Ron Davenport NFL insider ESPN NFL nation covers a Titans. He's in for Freddie Coleman on the infant Simmons and you know a cat that covers that team day in and day out. Yeah, absolutely, man. This is my pleasure. This is a special request, you know, to bring in my ESPN NFL nation teammate. None other than Tim McManus who covers the Philadelphia Eagles. Tim, what's going on, man? Boys, it's great to be talking to you. How are you doing? Happy new year. Happy new year, man. You know, you had posted something in regards to Jalen hurts and just a letter that he sent. And also just in talking to some of the fans that were on that railing that fell. Can you just kind of take us through just their perspective and how things happen for them from their outlook? Well, sure, yeah. I mean, it was a mixed emotions, I think, from the fans perspective because obviously there was that scary fallout FedEx field when the railing collapsed right in front of Jalen hurts who had to do a side step just to get out of the way of that. And the first thing for them was shock and later they were dealing all with minor injuries. And so there certainly kind of like a scare element to all that. But the other thing that was happening was no Jalen hurts, so a lot of those guys adore was the one picking them up and helping them up and asking them if they were okay. And the one gentleman described hertz as using a Scott expression. Cool as the other side of the pillow. And I think that that describes hertz to a T in all moments that we see in a 23 year old quarterback, Doug Peterson used to joke that he wondered if hurts even had a pulse. There's just this steady handedness about him that has been seen kind of through the trials and tribulations of this year. And a late clutch moment against Washington to help secure playoff birth and even when a railing is collapsing right before his feet. It's pretty incredible. I was beyond impressed by the letter two. I mean, so well written and it was just one of those like, hey, I want answers as to how this happened. So when you saw that letter, what was your reaction at Jalen hurts put out there not just to the eagles or the Washington football team, but that to me was more directed, not just that little Danny Snyder, but also at the NFL. I want answers. How did this happen to these people? Well, yeah, I think it shows that you genuine concern. And that was something that was expressed by those fans that did fall down as just that he kept asking them over and over like, are you guys okay are you sure? And that was in contrast to what they said by the Washington football team and the security there who are just telling them at least in their words to just get off the field and offering medical attention like the statement from Washington football team suggested. So it told me that hertz was feeling genuine about those about the both the fans and the media that got caught up in that whole thing. And I reached out to the eagles after that and said, can I have a copy of that of that letter? And now we don't have it. That was all Jalen. He's the one that sent it out. So he's the one that took the time to craft it to send it to make sure that it went to both Washington and to the league to make sure that there was some action followed up upon what he called a near tragic event on Sunday. That is like a true example of leadership. And it makes me think back to that saints game last year. And I remember after the game, they interviewed miles Sanders and he said, you know, this is the type of leadership that we needed from the quarterback position. How has hertz just come in and been able to just captivate that team and just have them just want to rally around him and follow him follow his lead? Well, I mean, it's something that he's been doing actually for a long time, like going back to Alabama and even before that, where there's this natural leadership like this gravitational pull. And if you talk to people around hertz, they're kind of surprised that the eagles drafted him. Just for the fact of they knew that type of magnetic leadership personality that he has and they were forecasting that it was going to be problematic in the locker room for Carson Wentz because of the fact that guys do just kind of naturally go towards him. And that's nothing against once. It's just the way that that hurts is. And that actually did end up happening to a certain degree, especially when he went in there and helped charge up that offense down the stretch last season. And he puts in the time with the guys. I mean, that's the other thing. Like every individual of this off season, he tried to make an attempt to go out to dinner with. He tries to connect with them on a one on one basis. And they see the kind of work he puts in, like nobody beats him in. He's a 5 a.m. workout guy in the off season, like they see all that. And he was going toe to toe with the offensive lineman. During these off season workouts, the guy can squat like 600 pounds and they just see the work ethic that he has and recognize how much he cares. And I think that that goes a long way as well. Okay, so now it's time for the big question. All of these first round picks, you got Jalen hurts, already until what do you think the eagles do? Well, that's a $1 million question. Yeah. And now they're in the playoffs. And I think that adds another whole element to this and certainly in hertz's favor. Because from where I'm sitting, it's hard to move away from a 23 year old who leads your team to the postseason in his first year as a full-time starter. Especially he's coupled with a first year head coach and Nick siriano the expectations were super low and he's already exceeded them and let's see what happens in the postseason. Although all that said, the eagles have absolutely been exploring other options. The whole thing is very real. Like they're exploration of the Sean Watson. That was real. So it's not like they have just been kind of sitting and saying we're going to let Jalen hurts be the guy. So I think that some of it has to do with like what are our options in the off season? They have those three first round picks with Russell Wilson become available as deshaun Watson available and interested and what's the situation, obviously there's a lot to figure out on that end. Aaron Rodgers, okay. And then these quarterbacks are coming out. So I think they're going to weigh all of it. But for me, the fact that he got them into the postseason should earn him another year. And I think we'll certainly work to his benefit as they're evaluating what to do in 2022 and beyond. And you mentioned Nick sir Yanni there. I mean, you go from that opening presser, which I referenced at the start of our conversation, Tim, and to be managed. ESPN NFL insider for the Philadelphia share with us on Freddy and pet Simmons on ESPN radio. First impression horrendous. Right now, how much of that has the way eagles fans view their head coach changed from that opening presser to right now coming into

"Of interesting 'cause well procedure precautions as well. So we we feel like percussionists are well. We have lots of lots of things that were not so good at. Maybe but we some of our strengths. I would say we have lots of weaknesses but some of our strength as a quartet. Percussive have lots of different things. We have to learn how to do things that we might not know how to do at first. You know we have to build our own instruments or we have to learn a completely new percussion setup you know so we have to constantly be adapting and learning how to do new things so i think the quartet is a lot the some of the four of us is a lot stronger than each of the four of us individually. So you know when you put the four of us together. We equal one really amazing person. So i think we. We spent a lot of time just kind of like researching and just genuinely be really curious about how to create good live content on the internet. I know actually one person who comes to mind is doug. Perry who is a peabody alum actually so feels appropriate to bring him up right now. He's somebody who makes before the pandemic he actually a lot of his work was happening. Live streaming. I think mostly on twitch. Actually he was doing a lot of livestreaming different doing different arrangements and performances and sight reading sessions and things like that and really building this huge community on the internet you know live streaming and he had a lot of the tech things down already with how to do that so we reached out to him and he was really quite helpful. And you know. We're nonprofit I mean there's obvious financial implications to investing time into learning how to do this new thing that costs some money. So we're a nonprofit annual budget so we started to kind of work our annual budget or work this entire annual budget and figure out exactly like how would it was gonna cost to buy a new camera or two cameras which we did and then we had no wanna get techy. It's good to know and it's kind of interesting to hear like how you sorted out. Yeah totally i mean we Yeah we bought. A couple of new cameras bought definitely. We bought a nice mixer. That was one of the first things that we needed. Audio is going to be so important. And then along with that. Nick sir we bought. These road microphones called n. Fives which might refer to. If you they're like one of our favorite microphones for anyone. Those are the mt fives. We bought this video switcher which allows us to live switch videos in concerts So that long. With a bunch of cables and stands. That was kind of like a lot of the bulk of what we did. And then just basically learning the software so we we stream on a platform kudo called s. It's a free app. You can download for your computer across mac and windows and just kind of learned sort the interface for how that works how it integrates with your computer. Whether you're using a mac or windows computer. that was really important and then also kind of to be totally honest like failing a bunch of times streaming We launched a series called sandbox sunday which we decided we had worked with a lot.

"No worse move. There could be no worse move at all. Just job. So now that that's that's not happening. That's not having me tell you something that is happening. It's not usually a subject that I am the dig into, and that subject is abortion. And the reason I don't dig into it is not a fear of engagement. Right? I'm a pro life guy. It is that I think I, uh Place myself Does. It's just subscriber ascribe. To the Mitch Daniels theory. In that Well, I'm very, very much in favor of fighting the culture war. On. There's a way to fight it, and that's how you win these things. I don't think the abortion fight ever actually gets one in the way many people wanted to. Meaning I don't believe there comes a point in America, where abortion is made illegal. I just don't think it's coming. I don't think that you're going to see that you could see the moment and one that I agree with. Where you have Roe versus Wade overturned in the Supreme Court because that decision is a mistake. That decision is a usurpation of state's rights. I don't see anything coming, and I don't see when it could where you could actually, you know, do this and make it a legal. I just America's not America should want less. I would argue America should have none, but I don't I don't see America going that road with me. However, there are some things that I do get into this from the people over life news dot com. I mean, this is what they do, and they do I I would argue a good job of it in terms of Getting stories out there, whether you like they're reporting or not secondary, but in terms of getting stories, moving stories out there and forcing people to read about them. I think they do a good job. Senate Democrats Block amendment to stop and fantasize care for babies born alive after abortions And I said, um Tell me more. Because this was very much the story of Kermit Kaz Nell. The mass murderer. The doctor out of Philadelphia. The movie gods Nell was made about him. Directed by Nick, Sir. See And it was a request by Republicans. I think this is as they were looked voting on the coronavirus relief funds. Yesterday, The Senate was in session for hours and they started like two in the afternoon. They didn't get done till this morning. Friday morning. I should say I like 6 A.m.. And Republicans put amendment after amendment After amendment You're going to ram through $1.9 trillion deal, Okay, we're going to make you answer some questions on the record first. And they just started putting things up, forcing the vote. So it's the consideration of the $1.9 trillion relief bill, which is gonna send $1400 checks to people. But maybe it's only consented to certain people. We haven't seen all the you have to actually vote for it to see what's in it. Senator Sasse. From Nebraska who Nebraska. Republicans are wicked angry at I'll get into that. Filed an amendment to legislation that would require holding abortionist accountable if they leave a baby who survives an abortion to die. This was the story of crime in Gaza. This was the story of people like Ralph Northam, the governor of Virginia, who said that if the abortion didn't take the baby would be on the table made to be comfortable and then the mother and the doctor would decide what to do. It's a baby. It's alive. It's right there. And now you're deciding what to do so your favor murder. We're not going to debate. This isn't about health care That is a bunch of garbage. This is about saying, Hey, there's the baby want to kill it? That's what it's about. That's what people who are Democrats are in favor of. And if you want to say not all of them, that's fine. But you've made it part of your platform in a way that is surreal. And then the Democrats moved to block a vote on it, claiming it violated Senate rules because they don't want to be on the record. They refused to be on the record to say that if a baby is born alive, even after a botched abortion, it's.

"Song. Deebo Samuel one way at Emmanuel Sanders the other way to get an electric offensive line with Raheem most or behind it, right and he had a great great fullback. Let's not forget about Kyle use check in a great defense by a defensive coordinator who is now head coach of the New York Jets. That's the biggest reason why the 49ers in that getting to begin with the problem is is can the Patriots build the rest of the Ross or on defense and offense bound to be the quarterback. That is Jimmy Garoppolo. That is four cousins. That is that level of a pastor that isn't somebody that is going to really do something on his own. So to go back to what you said before right about how the Patriots have all these assets and they can go they can go get themselves in Allen Robinson if they want Hunter Henry potentially all this right away if you are going to do that. Is it Matt Jones the kind of quarterback you need isn't it worth it at that point to draft the Mac Jones and save those draft assets and build up your future and get guys behind all those players you sign so you can keep it going once those guys page out. The question is is which one would you rather? Would you rather have the quarterback that the All-Pro quarterback All-Pro caliber quarterback. I should say in terms of talent physical talent that you can then I use your mid round picks go use your cap space to add the guys around him or would you rather have like what you're suggesting a more complete draft? All right where everybody is sort of fitting in that plays and you keep all your pics and you're able to do all those things. That's I think a very good question. I want to get into this breaking news right now because we all about the bills and the Chiefs like Thursday. We do we pick the line is that over I didn't want to talk about it. I want to talk with that that out. Their Chiefs are going to the Superbowl. I think they're going to win that game, Philadelphia p Eagles we were going to talk about Josh McDaniels candidacy with the eagles. They have decided to hire Colts offensive coordinator. Nick, sir, sir, Romanian. I think it is. I've never heard that name for now. So I was hoping you knew it. I think if this makes all the sense in the world, I think it's actually hilarious in a lot of ways that the the Eagles cannot quit the Andy Reid coaching tree wage. Quit they can't quit it. So any read of course goes to Doug Peterson then from Doug Peterson, it goes to a Frank Reich disciple and experience. I can't say it took the offensive coordinator. That is really where we're at right now. Josh McDaniels riady. There you go. See reality. That's not that hard not going to Josh McDaniels will not be the next coach of the Eagles. What is the deal with Josh McDaniels? I know you're not as eye on them as I am. So why does nobody have any interest in this guy? Also, I do think it is interesting, but the Eagles went with Joe. It's Ronnie and instead of Vietnamese food on Siri like your phone by morning. This is why you should be hosted Sirianni that I think it is funny that they went with him instead of Andy Reid's guy and Eric Bana me. They went with Frank Reich Sky instead continuing a long line of offensive-minded coaches in Philadelphia. They are never going to hire a defensive coach as long as the owner of the Eagles, but.
