Christopher Phillips Questions Brian Stelter Over CNN's Ethics

"Kid named Chris Phillips, who's a freshman at the University of Chicago. And he went to a some panel discussion that the Atlantic magazine was hosting that Brian stelter from CNN was on the panel. And this young man stood up and said the following to CNN's Brian stelter. Hi, thank you for coming. My name is Christopher Phillips. I'm a first year at the college. My question is for mister stelzer. You've all spoken extensively about Fox News being a purveyor of disinformation. But CNN is right up there with them. They push the Russian collusion hoax. They push the Jussie Smollett hoax. They smear justice Kavanaugh as a rapist and they also smeared Nick salmon as a white supremacist. And yes, they dismissed the Hunter Biden laptop affair as pure Russian disinformation. With mainstream corporate journalists becoming little more than apologists and cheerleaders for the regime, is it time to finally declare that the canon of journalistic ethics is dead or no longer operative. All the mistakes of the mainstream media and CNN in particular seem to magically all go in one direction. Are we expected to believe that this is all just some sort of random coincidence or is there something else behind it? It's too bad it's time for lunch. You have 30 seconds. No, there's a clock that says 30 seconds, but I think my honest answer to you, and I will come over and talk in more detail after this. Is that I think you're describing a different channel than the one that I watch. But I understand that that is a popular right wing narrative about CNN. I think it's important. When we talk about shared reality and democracy, all of these networks, all these news outlets have to defend democracy. And when they screw up, admit it. But when Benjamin hall, the fox correspondent, was wounded in Ukraine. The news crews at CNN and The New York Times stopped what they were doing. And they all cared about the injured Fox News reporter and that's

They tried to help them get out of the country. They tried to find the dead crew members. That's what news outlets do. That's how they actually do work together to your question about sharing those kinds of connections and trust. We don't talk about it enough though. We don't share that reality about how that happens. And with regards to the regime, I think you mean the President Biden. The last time I spoke with a Biden aide, we yelled at each other. So that's the reality of the news business. The people don't see the people don't hear. They imagine that

The National Review Was Wrong About Kyle Rittenhouse and Nick Sandmann

"I was talking about how national reviews at the Kyle rittenhouse story wrong. They also got Nick Sandman wrong. Oh yeah. For their top editors, we're sniping at and denouncing Nicklaus salmon within minutes based on a few garbled minutes of CNN footage, which we're as propaganda. I again was one of the few people speaking out within minutes of in defending Nick salmon's right to constitutional free speech at a political rally, which is what the march for life was. Turns out he didn't even speak. He didn't even do anything. He just stood there. Standing while white, while pro life. But David French again was attacking Kyle rittenhouse as basically irresponsible and reckless, you know, young man with a gun had no place being there. And it struck me. David French was fine with 17 year old Americans handling rifles as long as they were in Iraq. As long as they were protecting a foreign country in a misguided war based on lies and propaganda that George W. Bush sold us. David French was all up for that. In fact, even when served as a military attorney in the green zone of Baghdad, which, of course, was safer for an American than living in Baltimore or any other blue city. But David French got his veterans credentials for political purposes by serving as an attorney in the safe little enclave of the green zone. But actual soldiers were taking actual risk with their lives in that war for no reason. Son of mosaic had nothing to do with 9 11. There were no weapons of mass distraction. Antifa has done far more to harm America than Saddam Hussein ever

"And if anybody comes up to you just clam up and say nothing. And that's exactly what nick salmon did and everybody talks about that smirk when we interviewed him. Ryan i for a picture with nick and when we look at it. That's the same rookie out on his face. Some kids have that kinda kinda goofy grin. And god love him. That's just kind of nick. Being nick and he was he was just a wilder. And it's amazing how everyone rush to judgment and read so much into that same but again. I think none of it would have happened. Had he not wearing the mega and has not been a native american. Who who look so worthy of our respect by i look and he had that chiseled face and beating the drum. He does central casting in hollywood. Would to have him for a movie. You know and that's what was so sad about. Yeah yeah well. First of all. I my advice to him would be if you actually do. Wanna make peace in the future. Bang a drum right in. Someone's personal space is actually not going to be interpreted as a sign of peace. Just just to see you know. This is just the way society works. The other thing i want to mention. I learned some things from your documentary despite having watched the complete footage of the thing for one thing. I didn't realize that early on there was a case of mistaken identity where people were trying to figure out. What is the name of this smirking kid. And they got the name wrong. And so the kid who was falsely singled out. Wow nup getting all sorts of abuse and they tried to ruin his professional career that he wanted to. Yes so talk about that. His name is hodge dj and he wasn't even in washington because his brother was getting married. It was the first wedding and his family. And thanks to the internet. People were able to google and find out his mom's cell phone number so they're on their way driving to the bride's house to help her get ready for the wedding and this woman she's never met before starts screaming at hodges mom and saying all these horrible things somebody even said were. You should have aborted your kid. and they. When they came home from the wedding there were seven thousand twitter angry twitter messages lodged at the hodges and they were told that they were going to have a share as deputies sitting in their parking lot because everybody said they were going to scalp him and then some people were actually trying to get to the wedding to disrupt the actual wedding which thankfully didn't happen. But you can imagine what that was like. And he wasn't even there and he wanted to be a chef. He had been featured in a magazine article that mentioned that online so on that monday morning. Cincinnati state which is one of the top culinary programs in our region received dozens of calls and emails saying reject as kids application. You don't wanna racist in your program and people tried to ruin his life. He was the wrong kit. Yeah it's it's unbelievable. What happened to this kid. Who has as you say wasn't even there then. Let's talk about somebody. You interviewed for this documentary. There was some special abuse aimed at a black student at the school. And where the hebrew israelites. Were claiming that the white students were going to harvest his organs now. Couple years have passed since then. No organ harvesting has occurred so it turns out that that completely insane claim turns out to be false about that. that's another hard thing to predict. You actually gone to interview him and his family. I didn't realize what the outcome of this is but one a tragedy. Yeah this guy He goes by bo and like a lot of kids in our region. Their dream is to go to covington catholic because they're perennials state tournament and football and they're you know they send kids to west point and and notre dame and all and usc and alabama and all the top schools for their football team. And this kid. Bo wasn't catholic. But they really wanted to go to. Kevin and catholic as parents actually moved their business move their house so they could be closer to covington catholic. He was going to the school. He loved everything about it. You know he was on the freshman football team. Things were going great for him. And then this happens in the hebrew israelites were punching the although the club. Captains you don't even have a black kid here and they said no we do. Here's here's his. Nickname was cognac. Cognac and they brought him out in these the hebrew israelites and all kinds of including. They're going to harvest your organs. Well when he gets back to school and school finally opened had been shut down because of bomb threats and terrorist threats against them. After this happened it goes back to school in boise. It's an all boys school. What are they gonna do. That's what they were going to joke about. And they they said. Do you still have your oregon's you know you're getting better. Be careful and the kid basically went into. Ptsd he was completely free down. And this is a tough kid. I've met him spend time with them. I know his aunt really well coincidentally and he wasn't having any of it and he ended up transferring schools. Now the good news is he transferred to a school. That has another great above program in everybody is accepted into that system but Income caps tried to get him counseling. They tried to do all this stuff to work with him. And the father for the record. His dad holds no malice toward covington catholic. And he gets. The kids will be kids but And he said to. He said when when my son was going to the march for life i prepared him to see people walking around and vagina hats. And all these people who are you know my body my choice and he. He prepared him to be attacked by a bunch of feminine. He's always go after the march for life and he said i didn't prepare them to be attacked by manas joan race. Who were saying all kinds of horrible things to him said yes. That traumatic event was a true tragedy. And you know he was not getting any kind of settlement from cnn or the washington post or anything. He basically just had to sit out the rest of his year and home school and finish the year and then transfer to another school. Jeez well what do we do. We know anything about next sanmen. Whatever happened with the case. I guess the ideas that we don't know the exact terms of but they settled with him. Well it's interesting Washington post and cnn settled and one of the things that i don't think people realize and this is important for any journalist. Listening to this podcast as well. It's not just copy that you write that can get you in trouble for libel and slander and defamation. It's the links that you provide and one of the big issues that the sandman family and the attorneys took with the washington post was then they had that classic thing. So you've read this story. If you like it here three other stories you might be interested in those links when two stories about white supremacist about neo nazis. So the implication was the knicks. Sandman was in the nazi and white supremacist. So that was the big issue with them. And i think they were caught so red handed and so much with their pants down. They just settled rather than fight the case the lawsuits. Continue against nbc. Against i think the new york times gannett news service and a bunch of other people and they're still in the discovery phase of those cases. Right now they're being represented by a really sharp attorney named todd mcmurtry. I checked with todd every couple of weeks and he'd said you know we're still it's grinding along very slowly but some of the news organizations are doubling down and they're not about the settle and He's hoping to prove that You know that they were just as guilty as the washington post cnn. Which by the way as you know the way those lawsuits were neither of them were required to basically say they did anything wrong. That was part of their lawsuit on settlement. But he's hoping that agent show malas and egregious errors that really affected.

"And yet many of the people who tear it down have benefited from the freedom in this country. Have they overcome adversity? Of course they have. As so many people do. And They've been rewarded for it. In most countries, you're not 22 ago. Like all of you have reflected on the racial unrest in our country. It is a harsh reality that we're not proud ofthe parts of our history encouraged people to focus on our future was still learning from our past. We must remember that today we are all one community comprised of many races, religions and cities, rivers and storied history is what makes our country strong. And yet we still have so much to learn from one another way that in mind, I like to call on the citizens of this country to take a moment. And look at things from all perspectives, urged people to come together in a civil manner so we can work and live up to our standard American ideas. I also asked people to stop the violence and looting being done in the name of justice and never make assumptions based on the color of a person's skin. Instead of hearings, things hearing things down. Let's reflect on our mistakes. Be proud off our evolution and look to our way forward. Every day. Let us remember one nation under God, and we need to carries one another. Those are Such wise and inspiring words to me anyway. And He was glad to him. There was another voice there that I was glad to hear. Nicholas Sandman. And as you know, he was the target of quite vicious media operation. And still is. It is a great lawyer. Who has helped him Aah! And you know, people say, get his name back. He never lost his name the same hordes of leftists in the media and others. Try to take down Nick's him and try to take down so many good and honorable people. And I loved it at the end when he put on his maggot like, okay, that's announce. This is this is a free country and I'll speak Do as I wish. That's why I don't condemn Doc Rivers for speaking. I challenge is worth Strongly But I don't condemn him. He's got his own views on experiences, but so does Nick Salmon cut 16 go. What I thought was a strange encounter quickly developed into a major news story, complete with video footage. My life changed forever. In that one moment, the full war machine of the mainstream media revved up into attack. They did so without researching the full video of the incident. Without ever investigating Mr Phillips motives without ever asking me for my side of the story. And do you know why? Because the truth was not important. Advancing their anti Christian anti conservative anti Donald Trump narrative was all that mattered. And if advancing their narrative ruin the reputation and future of the teenager from Covington, Kentucky. Also being that would teach him not to wear Meghan. I learned what was happening to me had a name. It's called being cancelled as in a node vote, as in made void canceled is what's happening to people around this country who refused to be silenced by the far left. Many are being fired, humiliated or even threatened and often, media is a willing participant. But I would not be canceled. I fought back hard to expose the media for what they did to me, and I want a personal victory. Cut 17 more Nick Sam and go, much more must be done. I look forward to the day that the media returns to providing balanced, responsible and accountable news coverage. I know President Trump hopes for that, too. And I know you'll agree with me when we say that No one in this country has been a victim of unfair media coverage more than President Donald Trump in November. I believe this country must unite around a president because the media out and refuses to allow them to create a narrative..

"Come to the checks on the right show where the checks on Ma, I'm Daisy. Hello around. Kendall is also here. RNC Convention Day to the dose. It It was fantastic. Yeah, Wass were awesome. And I don't know why anybody would wanna vote Democrat. Why? I mean, I thought that on day one day two is even it was better because it's even. It's getting better and better every day. I mean, the speeches were all fantastic. Okay, We look great. We sound great. We are great. Why would you vote Democrat? Why don't be in the loser Club E. I mean, why do you want to do that? You know you're the loser Comedy club. Why do you want Teo? The highlight of the evening was definitely Melania who closed out the convention. And she was stunning and gorgeous and gracious and peaceful and poised and all the thing. Yeah, And it was. I mean, it was a good speech, too. She she I love her little accent. Yeah, I love it. And naturally because she is all the things that we just said liberals hate her. Oh, I'm ahead. Hatred was now one of control and Let's again when you when liberals are honest, and when they let the feelings that they have in their souls actually escaped their mouths into the public sphere. You realize that every name they call us. Everything they say about conservatives is pure projection. It's all projection, all projection and there's no better example of this than Bette Midler. Who, as soon as Melania began to speak tweeted twice won her first tweet read. And I'm quoting here Hashtag be best is back. Ah, huge boar. She can speak several words in a few languages. Get that illegal alien off the stage and then really, can you believe this so And then the her next Tweet said. Oh, God, she still can't speak English. Even though heard her delivery was perfection I love Kennedy said Who knew xenophobia? Was the wind beneath your wings? That's my favorite. I mean, what hag? Seriously. How do you How do you excuse that? You can't excuse it. That is what xenophobia really is. Liberals. Own it that that is your bigotry. Looks like not what they call us. Exactly. It's just that is it And she is yours own her and own it. Y'all er Xena foes. That's what you are. I don't know. I mean, like when we talk about them projecting onto us. I don't know how many more examples like this. You have to share and Pierce Pierce Morgan said. Oh, God. Bette Midler is a racist. That's what he said. And he's right. He's 100% correct. He's absolutely right. Kathy Griffin was just his awful. I can't even read the tweet that she put out because it's just it's four words and two of them are unsayable on the air. So I mean, that was off. Lovely. Well, I mean, it doesn't surprise you, and she was. She was really awful about Tiffany Trump speeches. Well, because, she said, and I and she put in quotes I'm Tiffany Trump. And I've loved my dad Donald J. Trump ever since I met him in 2015. I mean, really, By the way, she sounds exactly like Ivanka Now should they have the same voice? Dad? It's amazing. Like if you close your eyes, I would have not been able to tell that it wasn't Ivanka. Seriously. Yeah, I And I didn't know that. I'm not like the one where it's like the one speech. I haven't heard yet. Oh, it's good. Yeah. Eric was amazing. He was so so good. And he was so personal at the end, which was super Nice. Yeah, I love the attorney. They're all from Kentucky. He was awesome. I mean, it was really just really good. And then Nick Salmon. I was waiting for his for such a young man. He was awesome. And I loved hiss. Just a classy kid. Really, really classy kid. People were actually awful to him. Teo. There's a website. They were. There's a Web site called the Recount, which I had never heard of. But I looked up and they they describe themselves on there about us. Paige as a video first. Political media brand informed by the highest standards of journalism area, right, That's an oxymoron, You know, So what they tweeted is video, and it's a side by side video on the left side is Nick San Mons speech from last night and on the right is the famous now famous video clip of him smiling back. At the Native American. What's his name? I don't matter. I kind of don't care and obviously the famous altercation that they had, and they quoted this specific moment of Nick Sandman speech. They said the media portrayed me as an aggressor with a relentless smirk on my face. That was from his speech last night. They put that side by side with the famous smile on didn't bother to say anything else, except for just to show that side by side as if to negate what Nick Sandman. Set in a speech and it's like they don't even know what the word aggressor me because they don't or howto actually comprehend what Nick's explanation of that smile was all about, he explained it. He has also won millions of dollars in settlement. He's a kid, but he totally nailed job media because he knows what you are and listen in the near of times, put out like a Siri's. Hey, this is what the day to line up is. Let's go ahead and give like the encapsulation of what he's like. Like a synopsis of bio. If you well of all the people that are gonna be speaking right? Nicholas Salmon is how they described him a teenager from a Catholic high school in Kentucky who was involved in a confrontation with the native American man at a protest last year. That's how they described him. The New York Times said Keep Mickey believe that insane so that this is the kid. They didn't include the fact that he won Giant settlements with these media outlets because they lied. They blatantly lied about him and back in July, you know, Sam and tweeted. We have settled with Guapo and CNN. The fight isn't over two down, six to go. Wow, Don't.

"Reading from the statement of Bishop foist issued about five PM on Friday night. He says among other things quote by specially apologized to nNcholas salmon, his family as well as to all come cath families who have felt abandoned during this ordeal. Those are the words of Bishop foist next, salmon, I'm sorry. Your family into all cub cath. Families who feel abandoned abandoned during this ordeal. Joining me now. A father who demands anonymity, and I'll happily provided to them and sir. Welcome again to the Bill Cunningham show. And let me ask you this. When when Bishop voice said on Friday night, quote, I specially apologized the nNcholas salmon and his family as well as to all cub cat families who have felt abandoned during this ordeal. What what do you think he meant by that? We took that I think for the words that were on the page. And I think you know, as a community, we breathed a large die of relief. Did you have a sense? It was over. I had a sense come Friday night about six PM. This thing had been concluded issued a tweet saying down. Let it go the Bishop acknowledged wrongdoing he had consciousness of guilty said he was sorry. He wants his thing to go away quietly is your sense Friday night. I'm really not even thinking that far. I think I think most of us parents were you know, we really do just want to put the whole thing behind us. I think there's a unified sense of it time to get on with it. And you know without trying to look inside anyone else apart the Bishop or anyone else. There was just a. Leaf. I had a call from another parent who said on Sunday night, Nick salmon is an intramural basketball player and he reports to play on his team Sunday night. A cub Catherine a slash teacher slash coach made some calls and the word came back to ban Nick, salmon from campus is that your understanding. I honestly had not heard that. I think as of Sunday, we were led to believe or we were told amongst a group of parents. That he was going to be back in school on Monday. I didn't know anything about the miracles on Sunday night or or any of that situation. What happened on Monday morning? I don't know. I really don't know. You know, I didn't know this until really this morning that he was not back at school. So my understanding, and I and I wanted to ask my son about it if he tall neck, or you know, but we never have that conversation. A lot of conversations going on today and yesterday among cuff cats, parents it is your understanding firmly that Nick salmon is not back in school. Correct. That is correct. Yeah. I I think we've confirmed that at this point. Yes. And what does that mean to you as a Cup cats parent? Pardoning? Confusing. It, you know, we're I think we're a little weary at this point. And we're just kind of now wondering. Because here I am back again right on your program. Again. What's next? What's next? We don't know. Well. As far as your son is concerned. He was not involved in any of this. But he's is in school Kafka. How is this affected? Cub cads students to past eight to ten days, especially this new twist and turn. It's been hard for them. I I continue to watch my son for for signs that you know, that that he is affected by this actually does show up in some of the video was close enough to the events for that. But. I. "Continue with your calls toll each two o'clock on this topic. When someone apologizes to another as the Bishop apologized and salmon is family on Friday night. The apology implicitly means that there's consciousness of guilt and sorrow for actions that I've taken against another for which I regret. So when the Bishop voice notifies the world, including the sacred radio station, then he apologizes to the cuff cath community apologizes. The Knicks Sandman I didn't like this part of it. Quote. We apologize to anyone who's been offended in any way by either of our statements which were made based upon the information. We had quote, we should not have allowed ourselves to be bullied and pressured into making a statement prematurely, and we'd take full responsibility for it unquote on much about that. I don't want to seventy one year old Bishop and Covington that is somehow bullied by John London. Or Brian Hamrick are Tricia Mackey, I don't like someone like Cherie polo being accused of bullying somebody because it didn't happen. But the bishops said I was bullied. Therefore, I can't take responsibility for what I've done. I was manipulated by the media. What does that mean? Nonetheless, putting that aside he said specifically in a statement that I hereby apologize to Nick salmon and his family in any wanna Cup cat the fended by what the diocese has done. Okay. Even match diamond, my producer believe that was it. It was over. No more Jimmy, sandy said, okay Willie. It's all over with it's done. It goes up. Upscale upstairs to the Bishop comes back banned him from campus. Get them out of there. And then he's told not to report to school on Monday. Not to report on school on Tuesday. In fact, don't report until the investigation is completed which may be several weeks. "They could write. And that again, I mean, that's something that I think parents are going to probably sit down with their boys and talk about and, you know, there will probably be parents who fall down on both sides of that issue. And again, that's one of those things that that that's a future risk for kind of dividing amongst ourselves in terms of what's the right thing to do next because we're still in the situation, and we have to say that the principal. Bob, ro has done a great job of cats. And he's the single best thing has ever happened that school, according to many parents they love what Bob rose doing, but Bob rose between a rock and a hard place because we all work for somebody. I worked for iheartmedia. You work for somebody. Even if you're in small business owner, you work for the customer and the and the kids here the six hundred boys at cub cats are the customers, and they're paying about nine thousand dollars a year. Year each to go to school there to have a positive educational experience and a Catholic Kirsten environment that has morals values and ethics and to have parents pay to have this happen to their kids is really despicable. If it was a public school. You don't have much choices, but a cat. There are other choices. But there's a very very very very very very strong Cup. Cats community in northern Kentucky. That I would think the great majority viewpoint is that the diocese has completely messed this thing up. There's no there's no rhyme or reason at this point. Why Nick salmon should be banned from school pending the outcome of the investigation, which may take a long time. Although men is that your understanding, sir. "Not. And we will not why. Well, quite honestly, I mean, I didn't go to law school, not an attorney. But I have enough commonsense to realize that you can find yourself in trouble a lot faster by opening your mouth been keeping your mouth shut first of all. So, you know, we have no guarantees of immunity for the kids that were communicated in this ladder or. Any real explanation as to what type of questioning would be or what they wanna do uncover or anything else. So, you know, we all want to support Mr. row, and we do and he's done tremendous things that get cut cap. You know, this didn't come with any explanation. It didn't come with any assurances of any kind. And you know, I we don't see the gain. I think I speak for most parents. And I've pulled you know, maybe twenty of them. I don't know a single parent who was willing to sign this and send it back to school. Even with the understanding that you could sit down with your child or have a guidance counselor faculty members sit down with them, which frankly is even less reassuring. But. Yeah. No one no one. I know and certainly not not the diocese had Covington hold each family harmless from any damages that results because of what they've said what the what the diocese Covington pay for your attorneys right now, it's pretty obvious Nick salmon is going to sue all kinds of people relatable of this event. And when that happens they're going to Nick Sam and back and everyone connected to it. So if your son discloses his name, this is this is who I am this is my data birth. This is my social security number. I'm giving the statement to this corporate investigation firm hard by Bishop voice that name and his identity will quickly be known by the other side. It will then be leaked to the news media who will leak it to left leftist organizations, then those leftist organizations, we'll be then we'll begin doing things to you as a father to your wife, and did this boy that you don't want done right now, your son is anonymity. If you sign this form he no longer has anonymity. He you've. Greed on his behalf to make his name public. I can't imagine a cath parents saying, you know, what I want my son to be subjected to this for the rest of his life. And in other words in ten years, if your son is going to apply for work at cintos? Your son wants to work for fifth third Bank. Your son wants to do something in the professions. I want to go to law school Google that name wait a minute. He was connected to cub cath he was one of the boys. It was chanting at an Indian. He was one of the boys chanting at the black Israeli- Israelites that that son will not be hired. Why would a parent put their son in that pickle? And why would they die sees of Covington which should be in the business of protecting? Your child purposely do that to me, I'm flabbergasted. I agree. And and you've are related and actually thought it through. I think probably more than a lot of us did. But the more I hear you talk about it the more. Glad I am that. Yeah. I really glad we didn't sign it. Imagine. I was told by Kath parent that a mother employer was being inundated with negative messages bots and various things out her work because she was the mother of a Cup cat student who was at the rally, the employer of the mothers being besieged with information and negative reviews about their company online because that guy's name was made public. And so what's what's amazing to me is that instead of protecting Cup cath, the diocese of Covington is doing everything in their power to destroy the high school because you think about what maybe that's hyperbole. Really what happens one hundred students. Don't go there next year because of this what if other basketball schools and teams will not play cuff, Catherine basketball or football. All won the litigation begins was what happened to one or two months that will continue to be a big story corrected a be like the Duke lacrosse thing. And those three boys may have got twenty five million dollars each from from Duke lacrosse to set them up for a lot of their life. But they would probably pay the twenty five million dollars back. Not to be known as the guy who was charged with raping a stripper. And in this case, your son will be known for life is somebody at a rally in which Indians were surrounded and made fun of. And I don't understand. Well, where do you go from here? Give give the American people a sense of the Senate where are the kids today about their feelings about the Bishop on about the way, this has been you can't talk for six hundred kids, but just in your family. What are your feelings about the way Bishop voice has handled this? You know as a Catholic.

"There. Standing your ground both stage aground, and it was like a staredown. What do you think of that? Now when you think about that moment. I would say her foes head is right to come up to me. I had my right to stay there. Our school was slandered by the African Americans who have caught us all sorts of things. Savannah Guthrie is a classic mainstream media hack. Nothing. She looks the part. She sounds the part. She's played the game at NBC or whatever. And now, this is somebody that we're supposed to take seriously for reasons, I don't know. Doesn't have any expertise in anything wasn't a great wasn't a great journalist newspaper doesn't right doesn't, you know? Just she's a she's a TV presenter space as an actor. And she obviously takes the most popular center view. She can on any issue always. And I've seen enough of her stuff to know, this is it's like the Matt Lauer stick who she used to obviously work with NBC. You know, this is what these broadcast news hosts do they try to find a way to seem like they're being fair. But it's always always a little skewed isn't it to the other side always pretty clear that they're really not interested in being down the middle. And you saw that in this in this exchange. She said there's something aggressive about standing your ground. Why is that aggressive if somebody walks over to you, which is what Phillips did remember this is Nick Sandman who is the Covington high school student who was captured in the most clear footage of him up close where he's with this guy Phillips. Why is Nick salmon have do is he supposed to run away because a guy walks over to him and starts banging a drum in his face. That's so so it's not isn't that an interesting way to think about this, though the way that savannah Guthrie frames first of all she's talking to a fifteen year old kid gave now doing a national news interview. And and she she is Jones aggressive for you to stand there. Now, I think people would would argue that it's it's insane to think that he's supposed to run away. He didn't mean this man any harm. He wasn't he aggressively did the guy walk up to him. His dramas face. And he just looked at him. Aggressive. You might say it's defensive which I think is understandable in the circumstances. But to suggest that there was an aggression in this. It's it's was are really. It's a very strange thing for Guthrie to ask him. But you understand she's she's trying to make sure that her mostly live audience thinks that she's representing their view of how he should be questioned. Well, I wanna know when Phillips is going to be asked any questions, and I wanted to win the black Israelites who were present. We'll be asking questions. Where's the oppo research on them? When when do journalists asked the adults, including the adults who were yelling anti gay slurs racist slurs threatening the students and just generally acting like maniacs. And everyone knows that the black Israelites act this way, I've I have heard the black Israelites up close and personal. Have you ever? Have you ever heard them Brandon? I'm assuming probably many times just in the video. So you've heard them, right? Yeah. On the street in New York there they sit in Times Square, and they yell crazy things that people really belligerent nasty things. So, but when do they have to answer any questions about their conduct? Why do we take this position? Why is the assumption automatically that it is, you know? Nick, San men's issued is his problem that he has to be the one to deal with this is the fifteen year old kid, but there's more of this. There's more of this. Where Guthrie just makes it quite clear as well that you know, there there's some of the responsibility here is just the Trump support that's part of this play three. Do you think if he weren't wearing that hat? This might not have happened or it might have been different that's possible. But.

"Covington students name the school from the Catholic school. Covington Catholic high school to give you the whole moniker. So this whole storm of misinformed social media rage over the weekend called news coverage, and it's terrible. Got the president's. I of course, and the kid Nick salmon in the students have Covington they have really become the symbols of fake news. I gotta say that and how evil evil evil evil. It can be which is going to lead to that question. Again, where do we go where do you go to get the truth? Now, this whole thing is captivated the attention of the world. And maybe it can be used for good. That would be sweet maybe it can be used to bring people together. Maybe it started off as an unpleasant thing. Maybe it can be used to end in a dream. So says the president in a tweet this morning now Trump's comments came as the covenant Catholic staff announced high school is going to be closed today in order to ensure the safety of the students the faculty and the staff probably a good idea. And this is after they met with local authorities. They didn't dream this one up themselves. It was on upon the advice of local authorities in the wake of the incident that sparked this social media frenzy frenzy frenzy, all this talk nationally about how evil these kids were. But. So the controversy begins as I stated after the video surfaced online showing this confrontation between the students in in native American dull adults, so they were accused of a mocking the native American participant, as you know, in the indigenous peoples March there were so many marches this weekend, which coincided with the women's March which coincided with the March for life. So this it's this little snippet of the video. From the so-called confrontation that quickly gained all of this traction on social media with everybody condemning the students Hollywood really stepping out to cut their throats. And of course, some were wearing the make America. Great hands make America. Great again, hats, and the black separatists really tore into them for that. So a lot of them a lot of the the negatives online. We're calling them to be identified. They wanted the high school kids identified and they were saying they needed to be harassed. Elizabeth auto Kathy Griffin still beating that drum. Now, the Roman Catholic diocese of Covington. And the high school issued a joint statement apologizing to the activist. Identified as Nathan Phillips. This was before it was determined. This was a graphic misrepresentation. But later later later now the rest of the story. Another video emerges giving a much fuller picture of the incident. Showing some of the students being harassed in longer. Video. A voice off camera is heard saying white people go back to Europe where you came from as Phillips the native American activist is beating a drum. So the high school student said the students were confronted by four members of the black. Hebrew, easily is Israel Israelite movement. They call them racists. They call them bigots. They call the white crackers. They call them. I can't say begins with an F. They call them incest kids. They also taught African American students. By telling them, we will harvest your organs. This is the black haters to the black students. We will harvest your organs. So the the high school student in question said one of the students asked the teacher chaperoning the trip for permission to begin singing school, sir school spirit songs in school spirit chance to drown out the hecklers good idea. "Meanwhile, other people saw the native American activist intentionally walk into the crowd in an act of provocation as longer videos emerged showing even more perspectives. We're going to try to understand what actually happened there on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and the fallout and to do that we are joined by Bill Rinehart of member station. W V ex you in Cincinnati who's been covering this story Bill thanks for being here. Good morning. So these boys are students at Covington Catholic high school in Kentucky, which isn't far from where you are in Cincinnati. They were in DC for the March for life against abortion rights, and one student in particular named Nick salmon, he was the guy seen in the original video standing face to face with Nathan Phillips, the native American activists so Bill what can you tell us? What are each of these people? What are they saying about what happened? Well, Mr. Nathan Phillips in a video that circulated Saturday afternoon. After the initial initial videos all on. On social media. He said he didn't going on. They were having their March. And suddenly felt like he was surrounded by men and was confused about what the whole interaction was. Now, the young man in question, the one that everyone has seen in the video. He released a statement Sunday evening and says that a lot of what people were saying is untrue. He says they were having a they were waiting for buses to pick them up after their their attendance at the pro-life ceremonies, and he says suddenly there was a group of protesters and the Lincoln Memorial who started harassing them and one of his classmates got permission from a chaperone to start a school chant. And he says that's when the native American protesters approached our group, we should say that the students also say, they're the ones who were vilified by. Another group who is also gathered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. This is a group called the black Israelites here in DC. They're known for shouting racist and offensive things, and they were doing not at these particular students. So this is really complicated. But the school has actually come out of high school where these kids go to school. They have come out and condemned the students that right? They made a statement on Saturday. This says we condemn the actions of the Covington Catholic high school students toward Nathan Phillips specifically and native Americans in general they extended apologies to Mr. Phillips. And they said the behavior is quote opposed to the church's teachings on the dignity and respect of the human person. Yeah. As you point out, Nick Sanmen, the young man in the video insists that he was actually trying to defuse the situation that Nathan Phillips the native American activists actually walked into the crowd and was a protein these students. This is Nick San men's version of events and the young man says that he was not being confrontational at all. So this is clearly a confusing. How are people in the? Community responding. There are people on both sides folks who say these kids are have acted incorrectly. And there are those who say the whole thing has been misunderstood and people should wait till all the facts come out, they'll Reinhard of member station W W v. X you Bill. Thanks so much. People bought it for twenty four hours. Now, the story is falling apart joining you, and I knew and I now is ECU medical preacher, a minister, Brian Thome of crossroads also author of five marks of a man and Brian Thome. Welcome again to the Bill Cunningham show, Brian. How are you? William fantastic, great to be with you. But I wish it was under better circumstances. And hardly ever is many times you understand about toxic masculinity. And I want to share with you the definition of toxic masculinity. Given to us by the Huntington post to see if this applies to to manage general men to you know, or the boys at cub cath, according to the experts, Brian Thome. Toxic Masjun identity is any male identified as such whom subscribes the sexes ideas about the inherent submissiveness or need to own a control female identified persons and are willing to use violence, intimidation and social shaming techniques to perpetuate these ideas and the system of force female subservience, unquote. So when I read that definition, I have no idea what they're talking about. But because he's boys Covington Catholic is going Covington Kentucky because they were white male Catholic pro-life where an MAGA hats make America. Great again, hats, Trump, hats, the media assumed that they behaved a certain way. So when you look at a man today, the media assumes that you're toxic and your masculine how true is that? It's not true at all. I mean, we need great great men. And of course, of course, there are men who are behaving badly. Of course. There are man. I wouldn't even call men in my book. I call them boys because there are fifteen year old men, and there are also forty five year old boys. So our culture certainly has its share of males behaving badly who aren't men at all. They're just boys, but that is not the standard for who. Men. Are men have been protectors from the beginning of time men have been honorable people. And I think that we need in our country our culture to call males to a higher level of living a higher level of of existence, which isn't quite invigorating. Unfortunately is not getting very much. Bob press time today when I watch television series of one type whether it's the Gillette commercial or watch the depiction of men on television. They're always bumbling fools in idiots. The smart person is always maybe someone homosexual or someone female. It's never a white male Christian is very smart. They're always stupid and the stereotype, I guess must be broken down. And so as a man, I'm equal to my wife, but we're different different roles. It's just when you're in a marriage it just divides up almost outta medically. Who does what? And when someone does it and we help each other get through life. And so when cub can't happened. Now, it's come out the stories falling apart. What is your sense of the original precepts of the story that fit the media narrative? But now the story is falling apart. Did you ever? See your thoughts on the Covington Catholic incident. Well, I watched a video that was gosh was it was a long video thirty minutes to an hour long play video starting with, you know, a a Jewish an African American of African American Jewish group, which was I've been to Israel about ten times, I've interacted with a lot of Jews, and these folks were not anything like the Jews that I know, and I'm not talking about their skin color and talking about their gosh, they're Radic they were incredibly offensive and incredibly gosh, damaging to everybody who was around calling the kids products of incest and calling out one of the young African American students at covenant Catholic for for just being with the wrong. People just utterly ju just bad bad bad. Some fact that was that was watching it. I know the one of the things that men are is protectors. Boys are predators in these black Jews is this group that they were calling themselves. They were predators. They were praying. On young males. Who, unfortunately, we're in way way over their head now is actually waiting for someone to protect these kids. I'm like, okay. Who's going to step in and stop this? This is this is really vile racist, very very awful stuff. And then of course, about fifteen twenty minutes later is when the video clips picked up the the media carried, and that's a you know, the Indian the native American gentlemen, bang the drum in front of the other kid, and I gosh, I felt for that that young kid. He's got a he's got a stupid smile on his face. It looks like a stupid smile. But when you read his his statement, he's he's trying apparently to defuse the situation, and if I'm a teenager, and I'm in the crosshairs of an incredibly volatile situation. I don't I don't know what I'm gonna do. I don't know the looks on your face. You know is going to incite maybe violence or something worse, even and it was just an awful awful situation. All the way. Right. I wish someone would have protected those young males and said, let's let's get outta here. This is I don't care if the is coming or not we're we're gonna miss the bus. We're gonna walk out of here. Just standing here in the midst of this powder. Keg emotions was something that I don't think any of us would want to be in. And certainly a teenager is not equipped to be able to astutely handle that situation. He said the reason he had the look on his face as I wanted to be calm and cool. I never touched anybody. He said I was scared and they were being called by the black Israelites, and they must be confused. We want to harvest your organs. They call them school shooters. They said they were racist and bigots white crackers faggots and incest kids referring to their mother using the F word. I want to do that to your mother. And so the one boy Nick salmon said the two hundred and thirteen students, let's do some chairs and the teacher said, okay? Do some chairs to drown out this hate speech from this lecturing group in the business of causing an overreaction? So they did shares like cub. Can't we can't lose? Cub cath, we can't lose. And they did that to grant the cheers the Nathan Phillips the Indian activist who's in the business of protesting. He's been arrested numerous times, he looks for conservative groups, and it goes in pounds drums, hoping to get the reaction which allows the media to perpetuate frauds against people. They disagree with. And he say just picked out Nick Sanmen to walk up and pound the drum. And Nick said, I didn't know what to do. I kept my hands in my pockets and just looked at him. And at one point we left got on the bus and went home thinking that was kinda weird. They didn't find out for twenty four hours there in the crosshairs of CNN ABC NBC CBS, MSNBC, Lester Holt, Brian Williams. They had no idea what they had done. They found out later that they were charged with lies. They said the other group not on tape. You've seen all the tape. You've not heard one time where? Cub cat students use racial epithets are slurs against anybody. They don't exist. But because Nathan Phillips is a left-wing activists gave the interview the media ran with it without checking it out because it fit the media is biased against Christians, white males and pro-life individuals, and they were simply there to support for the life movement. They spent sixteen to seventeen hours on buses to and from paid to go there for box lunches, and they had no idea. Something wrong had happened till the next day and now Kevin Catholic high school, and Nick salmon are all getting death threats. Their parents are getting death threats, Cathy Griffin. From Hollywood is tweeting about causing physical harm to students at cub cath there's threats about shutting down the school electronially. And so how come they're such hate loosened? The culture. It's even going beyond that if you look at some of the tweets that are going out. There is a Azlan who was use identifies. A Christian now makes his living by trying to so seeds of doubt. In those who hold the Christianity has written a number of books on why he believes the bible isn't trustworthy, and so on and so forth, and he tweets out hatred. Quote, have you ever seen a more punishable face in this kid? Are you are you? Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? You're a middle aged grown adult. And you're calling a sixteen year olds face one hundred people. Are you are you? Are you kidding me? This this is this is one enlightenment looks like this is what it looks like an on time when you've got a teenager who's looking in the face of a native American bang, a drum if he keeps he keeps his stone face, then it could be seen as aggressive kind of like an MFA staredown if he laughs he looks dismissive. So he's trying to force them smile on his face seventeen year and seventeen taking the school board for this is just utterly awful. He said, quote, I believe that by remaining motionless and calm. I was helping to defuse the situation. I realized everyone had cameras and that perhaps a group of adults was trying to provoke a group of teenagers into a larger conflict. I said in my mind is silent prayer the center. Would not get out of hand. That's the truth. But the media doesn't report the truth because it doesn't fit their narrative. And he also said during the period of the drumming, a member of the protesters entourage, the native Americans began yelling at a fellow student that we you stole our land. And that we should go back to Europe. I had one of my fellow students begin to respond. I motioned by my classmate and try to get him to stop engaging with the protester. I was scared, and I was still in the mindset we gotta remain calm and calm down the tensions. This kid was the one acting like an adult and now these Hollywood activists and Muslim extremist and others are going after these kids as a punch -able face. I I know that we're we can be upset about the the the left leaning media perhaps in all this. I think there's relevant discussion. But here's here thing. It's just tough. We can't have any situation our time anymore that isn't caught on camera. This is this is just an awful situation that now the media can use to work. I do a lot. Whether it's on the right or on the left, and and you're just think I recognized the media today, and I don't mean any offence to you Bill. I think you're part of the media. But I think we step back, and we look at this stuff. The media exists to sell soap, it doesn't exist to educate us any longer doesn't exist to inform us it exists to sell soap. And if we can have Americans be indignant over other Americans if we can be judgmental towards one another angers one, another guests. So we're going to tune in for that. And you just might be able to sell more stuff because we have some more people tuning in. This is not not good for us. Whatever happened the days when you could. Have a confrontation or you can have a disagreement and wouldn't have to become a news story. The stakes on our culture right now are just so so high we just can't afford media outlets using this kind of stuff to to drum up attention. They were accused the mocking native American culture using the N word and just the opposite happened the black Israelites shouting, the N word saying they want to harvest the organs of teenage boys, and they were using the F word talking about their mothers, and what they were doing and this kind of stuff and the boys acted I think responsibly by saying let's do some cheers to drown this out. So black students who are with us. Don't hear the N word shouted them by other African Americans and Nathan Phillips is in the professional protesting business..

"Corsi is under investigation about the special counsel, kind of amazing when the special counsel recognizes the media itself is telling so many lies that must be stopped. Now for the first time ever Robert Mueller, the special counsel issues a statement, saying, no, wait a minute. What BuzzFeed is saying is not true. It's inaccurate. The thing that token Turnley for the prosecutor to go after the news media that they tell so many lies even Robert Muller stout enough's enough, and they all went with it as if it was the truth. So Dr germ course, he knows exactly what's going on much like Covington Catholic incident. I was born in Covington. I'm Catholic I've spoke at that school. They're great kids to have the Bishop voice of Covington. Diocese diocese throw him under the bus the mayor of Covington threw him under the bus the principal throw him under the bus. And it was all a lie was a hoax the things they were accused of doing. They did not do provable most of its own tape and think of the mentality of these so-called left-wing, social activist like Nathan Phillips and the black Israelites. Now thoroughly confused. These religious individuals are hurling insults. At teenage boys were in Covington, Catholic outfits such as the F word faggots, incest kids school shooters, white crackers, bigots racist, and we're going to harvest your organs. That's what the religious African-Americans the Israelites were saying. Then in response to that is why the two hundred and thirteen Covington Catholic students the whole student bodies five hundred and fifty said, let's start chanting. Some chairs like cub. Can't we can't lose? That's why they were chanting. There was nothing racial about it at all. But the media simply put on this clown. Nathan Phillips to make these lies make these false charges to create a merit a media narrative, which they believe what what was it work. Here is simple in my book. They saw someone white male Catholic pro-life who support Trump mega hats. That's all they need it. It's all the media needed to go with it. Now tonight, it's largely proven to be a lie. What occurred is not what they say occurred. So now where does Covington Catholic go back to get their reputation? What is Nick salmon is family do when there's repeated lies when Hollywood activists and others. Urge violence against teenage boys who were simply in Washington. The first trip there in many cases to support the pro-life rally. That's why they were there. Think about the insanity of this some radical leftist and Nathan Phillips and the black Israelites earned the business of formatting these difficulties. That's what they do. They get in the faces. I've been service pound the drums and hurl racial and sexual epithets to encourage a reaction, which everyone is filming and taping from their group to use to sue law to sue individuals who may hurt them or to give this tape to the part of the tape to the news media. So the news media does their bidding the hate Trump media to smear. The these young Catholic, boys. It's. I I'm almost speechless. And that's a lot for me. Let's continue. Go to Larry in Evansville. And then Robbie and so many others Larry in Evansville, the home of the purple aces. Larry, welcome to the Bill Cunningham show. Larry go ahead. Thanks for taking my call. I'd become topics here. One one is this high school thing. And well, those kids those the people that were actually yelling those threats and things that qualified hate speech. I'd like to see because they're on camera like to see those people pursuit second, the Bishop and the mayor when it's found that that these kids are telling the truth. Yeah. High school students, they should the mayor. She come out and publicly apologize. The Bishop should apologize publicly and also not not one of the in the media wherever reported wrong should should apologize. Manner. Larry all of them reported because it fit the media narrative, if it doesn't fit it. They don't print it. Right. The policy that we need to hear not one of those that we always here if we offended if we were wrong, we are soy that. There was the possibility. No, they didn't come on. You were right. We were. We were wrong. We apologize and we help facilitate these threats against you and your family for this we need forgiveness. And, you know, grace grace is that what you give people that don't deserve. They need to ask for grace. That's that's what he's happened. We there because he's these people's lives have been putting danger now. How about? A couple more sentences from the statement of the students I never interacted with this protest or I did not speak to him. I did not make any hand gestures or other aggressive moves. I was frightened to be honest. I was startled and confused as to why he had approached me we'd already been yelled at by a group of protesters. And when the second group approach, I was worried that the situation was getting out of control. We're adults retesting to provoke us teenagers. I believe that by remaining motionless and calm. I was helping to defuse the situation. I realized everyone had cameras and perhaps a group of adults were trying to provoke a group of teenagers into a larger conflict. I said silent prayer that the situation would knock it out of hand during the period of the drumming, a member of the protests are entourage began. Yelling at one of my fellow students you stole our land. And that we should go back to Europe. And so this kid seventeen years old issued this statement tonight, which is so good so strong and so accurate. I wanna know where is the mayor Joe Meyer of Covington that issued a ridiculous statement yesterday, attacking these boys and Bishop voice, the the Bishop the diocese of Covington is a clown or the capital K for for lying about these boys before I knew the facts. Now, I have a sense of pride will be aroused. And he won't want to do anything about it. Just let it go away. The media, my friend, Larry the media's going to drop this within a day or two because it doesn't fit they're not they're diatribe against the president against Catholicism against whites against straight males. They're going to drop this thing in a heartbeat because it doesn't fit now that the it was a lie. They'll move on to something else. That's right because the damage has been done. Now, that's all that's all that matters to these individual. May. I may I address the separate topic that s you no go ahead. Larry, and that's concerning. The cancellation of Pelosi's flight how about that? Yeah. Yeah. Well, here's here's something report. I'm retired air force. I used to work maintenance thanking aircraft. Thank you. Thank you. Well, thank you privilege and honor a lot of people don't know that in. Between one two year period two thousand nine to two thousand ten and she racked up over ninety flights it over two million dollars cost say that again because I was on the air. She was speaker of the house and Obama authorized US air force flights to take her almost on a weekly basis from Washington back to San Francisco at a cost of millions of dollars. And if a Republic John bainer used to fly commercial, but but Obama approved it, right? This is in one nine month period..
