"The Mitch Albom's show on Newstalk 7 60 WJR sitting in from Itch, Sean Bell Legion. So we have all been there before. Maybe not exactly here before, But you saw some critter that you didn't quite expect to see roaming your backyard roaming your neighborhood. Whatever the case may be, this is from Rally North Carolina beautiful area of our country. It really is. A zebra Cobra is on the loose in rally North Carolina. Here's the problem. It's not indigenous. To the state. It's not indigenous to the country. It is from Africa. Of course, this is a case where somebody thought, Hey, be really cool. If I owned a zebra Cobra didn't exactly take care of the zebra Cobra, and it escaped. And it is on the loose in Raleigh, North Carolina. Uh, now The book on this snake is It's usually shy. I will choose to escape. If it is cornered, it will quickly bite or spit. Its venom can cause tissue damage or even death. That's not disconcerting or anything. Kids if you're playing outside, just just be aware there might be a zebra cobra out there, okay? Take the pets out. Whatever the case may be. So this is one of those things I wanted to ask you guys at 808 590 wjr text only we're almost there. I'm being told in regards to getting the power in the phone back. I'll start with you guys. Mike. Mr Rieger, Have you guys seen some critter that you didn't quite expect to see in your neck of the woods? I've got a couple. I got one recently and one not so recently. It seemed like it was about the time I graduated high school. So is the mid two thousands. It seemed like every couple years there is always a liger, citing like on the East Side, and I swear to God I saw I saw at one time by a 7 11. I don't know if he was getting a Slurpee. I don't know if it's because there's woods behind the 7 11, but I definitely saw at least what I thought A lighter might look like at the 7 11. And actually a couple weeks ago, and I won't say it. I don't want the animal police going there because this guy seemed like he was trying this animal very well. My wife and I were driving. And we pat were stopped at a house and there is a guy holding a baby alligator just out in his front yard. So Um, yeah. So the Yeah. The Alligator's name was chewy because I rolled the window down and I asked 1000 Alligator, and he said, Yes, his name is chewy, and then the light turned green and I had was able to get no further information. I listen, I will not forgive myself unless I use this opportunity to share an inside bit and make a nick Roddy joke somewhere in there with Gators and Nick Roddy. There's uh There's an inside bit there. I'm not going to share it with. Everybody will leave it at that. How about you, Mr Reid? You know, um, I have seen in the area where I live, Um, coyotes. Um they have been known to roam around and that you have been warned to watch your small dogs if they're outside, so That's about the extent of it. Uh, but I just did. The story was weird to me. And the fact that You know, of all the weird animals you can have. You know, people might have alligators, spiders or rattlesnakes. Why in the world Would you want to have a pet Cobra? I just like what? What would possess you to Think to yourself. Hey, I think a cool pet would be a cobra. Especially one that can spit venom. Me? Yeah, just like I get it. If it makes no sense. Keep it. Yeah, I I can't. I'm with you. I don't I can't quite understand it. Read. We were talking about this off the year I had two very public things and why I say public is because I shared accompanying photos on Facebook and people. For whatever reason, got a kick out of it. Right. The first one was the coyote. And it was interesting, because, um, I used to be able to stay up late at night. And somewhere in the last couple of years, I just can't do it anymore, Okay? But I was up late one night, and it was actually after a late hockey game ended and I'm getting ready to go to bed. It's maybe 1 30 in the morning, and I heard this this scream that I had never heard before, and I looked outside. And this was the winter of 13 14 where you might remember. It was literally winner from the first week in November until May, and we had the record for most snow and everything, and it was so darn cold. And I looked out in the back and at the edge like literally the very edge of my property. At my old house. It looked like three or four dogs were attacking. This deer and you know, I didn't get a real good site because it was It was dark, but it looked like three or four dogs attacking it. So I went out first thing in the morning and there was this dear, I'm when I say it was ripped apart, it was ripped apart. And the thing that I noticed was across the street like down in a in a little ditch. There was a coyotes head plain as day like looking at me. Like, almost like, okay, get away from that. That's mine. You know, I gotta feed my family and all that stuff. So I called the dinar. And if you've ever dealt with the dinar before God love him. They love to tell you that you didn't see what you saw there very fond of telling you that you didn't see what you saw. And the the guy was quite frankly, very dismissive. And I said, I don't know how to tell you this. I've hunted my whole life. I've been to places where there are coyotes. I know what a coyote looks like. Think German shepherd with the bushy tail, right? While and his fate would have it, Dave, I I hate to say this, but this is how the dinar kind of realize. Oh, wow. There are coyotes here. Somebody had a trail cam, just a block over. And they caught the coyote mauling their dog. And that's how we found out that. Yes, indeed. My neighborhood did have coyotes. I don't know if you remember the accompanying pictures from that, but that was one. And then the other one that I know you remember because we were talking about it. I'm telling you point blank. I saw Cougar and you can laugh and you can go all day and are on me. I point blank saw a cougar. It was the morning before. We left to take my son to school and we were up just commiserating and having a good time before he went to school, and we heard this Russell outside. And we ran outside. We saw this thing. I'm not Joe. I know the cougar looks like right. And so this time, unlike the previous time, I'm like I'm taking a picture because nobody's gonna believe me. And I took a picture and I'm not lying. It is the worst picture taken in the history of mankind. And all did people have fun at my expense. But You might remember about six months. After that. There were a bunch of cougar sightings being reported in Lavonia and Northville. You know my neck of the woods. I know what I saw. I saw a cougar and of course, the dinner said there are no Cougars here. Absolutely positively not. There may be some up north, but there's some down here. I know darn well, I saw cougar and I'll leave it at that. Well, it was 808 590 wjr. Go ahead, dig? No, I was saying it was probably trying to get away from the hunters up North probably hitched a ride down here something but Um, smart cougar, right? But, you know, going back to those coyote, Sean? Yeah. I mean, they are getting more and more bold. I don't know if people are feeding them, but I remember a couple summers ago. Um, in some of the blighted neighborhoods in Detroit, where nature was taking back over. There were a bunch of coyote, Uh, sightings there, and I even saw one in my populated neighborhood in Lincoln Park. So I I don't know why there um Getting more bold, but I definitely will not let my dog outside alone at night. Ever since I saw that ever since all that Coyote So Linda from Saint Clair Shores, texts sent in a picture. To the text. She says that her son and daughter in law spotted this animal and Grand Rapids the other day. What it looks like to her as a mink, but maybe fair. It's just kind of walking down the street. Oh, the sidewalk ingrained in Grand Rapids. So yeah. 808 590 wjr If you seen a critter in your neck of the woods, maybe not the zebra Cobra. Well, hopefully not the zebra cobra. "And abortion talk over too. Electric vehicles, But we finally got some text rolling in 808 590957. Nick Roddy, What are the people saying out there? This from Tim and West Land. Abortion should be kept legal, so it is as safe as possible. I am morally opposed to it, but not legally opposed. God as the ultimate judge has a jurisdiction, not us. Some things are better left to God. That's from Tim. Well, you know, that was to a degree. I think what I was commenting on there towards the end. I don't think we're level Be able to abolish abortion in this country is passionate as some folks are about it. Certainly we could do a better job culturally of trying to encourage people not to get, you know, unplanned, pregnant in the first place. I mean, that's where the overwhelming majority the lion's share come from, and he's right to a degree. It has to be a safe procedure. We just like to avoid it. Most conservatives and most Christian people would rather avoided at all costs. So not entirely wrong. It will be really interesting to see how this thing plays out. What else? We got Another one. I agree with you, Chris that the father has to have hold more responsibility. Why do liberals never talk about that? You know, I don't know. As as a nun Modern liberal. I couldn't tell you, but I I think that again. Culturally, we have created a whole legion. Of men that are far more interested in Gion transactional sex, and when that pregnancy pops up, it's scary for everybody. It is inconvenient. You're never really ready. I mean good grief. We just had number five. I'm still not ready. It's been said happened a week ago. So you know in the reality is that you know, we as men need to be doing the honorable thing in in the where there's a void of virtue. These things get more and more out of control, so I don't know why the Liberals don't point that out. But that's not shocking, isn't it? This is from David Mount Clemons. Evey is make up less than 2% of the market. Why are they forcing these vehicles on people when they obviously that obviously want them After you don't want them. I assume I don't think that's true. I mean, jeez, I think that people will want them or and more when they become affordable and more viable. I think that the long term effect of having evey is that really makes sense that have an equal amount of power and and a way to charge them efficiently. And they don't cost you know an arm and a leg more that that time is coming. And so the resistance to this In my opinion is short sighted as more manufacturers move in that direction, you know it's better environmentally. You could make the case that fossil fuels aren't the biggest problem. I agree with that. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't be driving electrics for crying out loud. Especially if they're snapping and fast and they get the job done. Not bad, though. What else? A couple like this. Why should my tax dollars build charging stations for others? And then? Couple people have the same question of electrical is so great. Why is my money being used to fund them? The tax dollar slant is interesting, and I mean there's there's always going to be married to that. I mean, we could we could say on any number of issues. Why are my tax dollars being used for something that I don't agree with? Why are we sending millions of dollars toe countries that we had a conflict with 35 years ago? Why are we sending billions of dollars for research projects on bat feces in Afghanistan and so on and so forth? I don't I don't know the answer to most of those questions, but It's coming, so you know it. If nothing else, it can support our our Michigan workers, many of whom are building these vehicles. It'll should support Michigan sales and dealerships And the reality is if they can find a way to make these things get 56 700 Miles. You know, long term. It's probably better for anybody's so I don't I don't see the resistance there any last ones before we go to press, a last one just bought a new small class a Winnebago RV. What will happen to my ability to travel the country affordably. How will tourism be affected? That's a great question. I think that if you're telling you're telling a camper or something you're going to be buying, you know, gasoline or diesel powered truck for quite some time in less. You know, these thieves, RV camps everywhere, start having charging stations, which clearly would would happen. Would it happen in the next 10 15 years? I don't know. That's a great point, though. There's going to be a whole lot of travel that would have to adjust. Let's go to a break. We're gonna test the emergency alert system and we'll be back with Lomas.

"Here's Nick Roddy Lions and Vikings, a grating ready to meet for the 119th time in NFL history, and Minnesota leads the all time Syriza's 77 to 39 with two ties. Neither team will make the playoffs this year. But that doesn't mean littlest run the clock out, and Lions interim head coach Darrell Bevell is excited to get another opportunity on the field. You know, this is what we do. This is what we love. This is why we're in this business is is to play the game of football by the game we love and we signed up for 16 games. They're giving us 1/16 game another opportunity. Regardless, the scenario situations on do you know we we This is what we do, so we want to go play. We want to put our best foot forward. Want to play the way that we're capable of playing and you know and look for a win and you'll be able to go out the way that we would like to go out. Detroit is still looking for their next general manager and head coach to lead them into the 2021 season. And one of their biggest decisions to make will be the future of quarterback Matthew Stafford. But number nine is just focus on today. I'm not worried about it. I'm not thinking about it. I'm thinking about is the Vikings and I'm trying to get myself healthy. I know it's probably hard for people to believe. But you know, that's the way this businesses have been in this business a long time and understand it that you know you got everything you can to focus on what's in front of you, you know, in the immediate future, and that's what it is for us and for me at the moment, so it's pretty easy for me to focus on that. And it's a division rival, a team that You know you wanna You wanna go out there beat you want to, um, you know, win in the division and you know it's an opportunity for us to do it on Sunday. Detroit has lost seven of their last nine games this season, and safety Tracy Walker thinks the win today. Could provide some much needed a momentum going into the offseason moment for whatever. I mean, definitely a great win this week would definitely help other going into next season. You know, I feel like it is definitely a moment.

"Two hours away from kickoff at Bank of America Stadium for a preview of today. It's Lions today. Here's Nick Roddy. The Lions and Panthers are getting ready to meet for just the 10th time in NFL history. Caroline and leads the all time serious 6 to 3. The story of this past week for both teams was injuries. Both quarterbacks are dealing with their own and Panther's QB Teddy Bridgewater might not go today. And his former teammate from the Vikings ever seen, Griffin was excited to see him. I love Teddy. I can't wait to see him. Hopefully, I get to hit him a few times, but I love Teddy. You know, say I want him to play. I want to hit him a few times. You know that Z. What? That's what this game is about to have fun and see a cup of your buddies. Yeah, I love Teddy. Teddy. The good and he's playing great bar right now, too, no matter who plays quarterback for Carolina will have one of the best trio of wide receivers at his disposal and lion's head coach, Matt Patricia is aware of the challenge. They present one of the most explosive offensive skills that group in the league. You know, I think that Top lives far as explosive plays DJ Maura's fast He can go vertical, You know he can really get behind the coverage and Robbie Anderson. We certainly know he could do that, too. I think the thing that Robbie that's been impressive for me is to see his development with his route running thing. He's doing a really good job of getting him out of his brakes and finding the space in the zones and really kind of working some of that stuff. But you know, speed is the first thing that stands out and you know what? Don't forget about Curtis Samuel. This guy is kind of the Swiss Army knife of their offense, and he can go vertical. He can win over routes and there's gonna be in the backfield lined up in the home position is gonna run the ball, So I think that's the one thing for them. That you see right away is just the speed ability for them to really stress. The defense is probably the biggest thing one week after DeAndre Swifts breakout game We'll sit this one out with a concussion. That means Adrian Peterson will once again be the starter, Something the 13 year vet is ready for the coming in the.

"The Vikings were the first intent from their own 30 looking to kill some process given Dalvin Cook, Cook runs to attack Mary Gault's foot race. 30 20. They're not gonna catch him. 10 5 touchdown down 70 yards. Just like that 70 yard scamper. Don't start well for the Lions. If you like one of our previous collars, Duane were taken advantage of the beautiful fall day. It was 13 nothing. Of the Vikings up. That was the score as the first quarter came to an end. And the Lions just couldn't recover. It became 13 3 became 13 10, then became 2010. And, quite frankly, the Vikings never looked back. No Dalvin cook. Look back on that 70 years, Steve 10 plays 131 yards and it's 13 nothing. In the net in the National Football League. You know, it's look, you could slice it. You, khun, dice it anyway, you want but there are some legitimate issues going on with this Lions team right now, and I don't care who they've got coming up on the schedule. You still have to play the game at a relatively high level, because if you don't And you keep shooting yourself in the foot and allowing bad things to happen. You will lose. We're finding that out. No doubt, okay. Super received a here in Detroit. How are you, lad? Hello? Yes. Get it. Super Rosita! How you doing? You alright? Yeah. Not in flaws, but you know, because some another win, you know about political wind. But anyway, let's get to the Ah The Lions game and first also you guys let Lomas Brown No, I'm gonna quaint if you let him know that I'm trying to get in contact with him. I believe my number with the foam screener. Now let me get to the Lions. Faras coaches and stuff like that. I think everything almost needs to be tried. I have ideals of Lomas Brown. Ah, What is that Barry Sanders as assistant coaches, maybe even bribed Terry Bradshaw. You know if if he wants to talk so much junk like he knows this. Bribe him come over to the Lions get No. So that's very slow. Miss Terry Bradshaw Herb in my year. A lot of different dynamics that need to be tried Brian's name Most definitely definitely meeting in coaching, and also I believe that the Bobby laying family should be a part of the organ organization, because if they say it It wasn't bad luck with Bobby Lang and started with him not being mixed. It can reverse the client can get a better, uh, hustle. I say, spirit going on off of winning. A lot of things need to be tried and stick to the same doctor is going to be the same old soup. Oh, I'm going to cut you off because your line is cutting out there. But I think we got the gist of what you were saying there and Um Duly noted. I'll say that Let's go to Cadillac. A fine community. Kevin, you're online's radio. How are you? I'm great and first say his valley Gi was you guys? Yes, really Got now more than really got beat up, but it is. I want to bring a base. Attention, Tio. We portray his first Came he remember all the players were griping. They want him to run. They wanted to do this. You gotta do wind sprints. Gotta do that. Um, they didn't like him, and it's almost now like he's trying to make everybody like him. So they aren't working that hard. And they're just letting everybody all the players do what they want, and nobody's doing anything to help anybody win. Well, I think you race someone of a good point there, Kevin because you know, in any Bonified National Football League team. You have leadership. On that leadership is important. Because you know if you do mess up if you're not doing your job, it is brought to your attention. Is there anybody on those Lions team? I know Matthew Stafford. You know, in his 12th year, he's gotten a little bit more vocal from time to time and again. Hopefully, first things first, hey, is able to get through concussion protocol. As he was taken to the tent there In the fourth quarter. We heard a report day per kete Ah tweeted out. Nick Roddy, our executive producer Senate, Steve just a couple moments ago that he has passed Concussion protocol. Okay, Very good. Well, then what we need to do is to Ah, secure the offensive line. And I know they've had some moving parts upfront to Ah, protect number nine because that has been a chore. As of late, but so is a lot with this team. Right now. You know what.

Hopefully, that'll help us build the confidence going into the rest of the season. That's alliance today. I'm Nick Roddy. There will be one people attempt crown at the end of this year. That's a fact. And the fact is, we got to come back and go to work. That's all we got to do for a closer look at that. Jacksonville Jaguars Here's charting the opposition brought to you by galling Chrysler Dodgy Bram. Here's Chris Read Wick. The Lions were in Jacksonville to take on the one win JAG wires who got taken to the Woods shed last week in Houston. JAG struggled on defense against to Shawn Watson and the Texans offense, giving up nearly 360 yards through the air and three touchdowns but also had a hard time stopping the run defensively. Jacksonville's giving up 4.6 yards per carry. Allowing an average of 137 yards per game on the ground, which is good for 26th in the NFL. On the offensive side of the ball, the Jang's are a pass first unit quarterback gardener Menchu's averaging 289 yards per game through the air. He's throwing for 10 touchdowns this season against four interceptions and carries a 99 passer rating. One. The real bright spots for this offense, though, has been the line up front. The offensive line is giving up 20 sacks through the first five games. And, yes, look, it is a lot They passable least 40 times per game, and when they're run blocking, they are an above average unit. It'll be interesting to see if this Lions defense will be able to put some serious pressure on mince You and Matthew Stafford and company will be able to throw the ball around the yard and put some points on the.

"Two hours away from kickoff at State Farm Stadium for a preview of today. It's Lions today. Here's Nick Roddy. Lions and Cardinals were getting ready to square off for the 70th time in NFL history, and Detroit leads the all time Siri's 35 to 28 with six ties. The lines often should be getting their star wide receiver back today, as Kenny Golladay missed the first two games with a hamstring injury. Quarterback Matthew Stafford is eager to get number 19 back in the fold. You know, I think it's just another piece of our offense, You know, obviously he's a player that had a ton of production for us the last couple years. He's a guy that construct the field. He's a big physical player. Big catch radius got good speed. You guys have watched me play. You know what he's capable of doing? You know, I think the more weapons we can have out on the field, the better. We'll see if He's able to make it up for us this week or not, but obviously just having him back out of practice for for a few was was nice offensively for Arizona. It starts with second year quarterback Cuyler Murray. Murray has three rushing touchdowns already this season, and Lionshead coach Matt Patricia has noticed he's gotten even better since the two teams played last season. You can see the difference between early on last year when we when we played them, and then later in the season on how he kind of Matured and grew as a player in the NFL. I think I may have said this before, but somehow I think this guy got faster and quicker and more explosive in the off season. It's just amazing to watch him in open space. He's a smooth athlete. He can really get to top and acceleration extremely quick. And I think that's what catches a lot of people by surprise. Sitting at Owen to Lions fans are desperate for a win in the desert. And why in safety will Harris knows that the team has moved on from their losses and is focused on the game in front of them? You know, every season is a marathon. That is, friend. So you've got to kind of look at it and, you know, break it down that way. Just keep it small. Keep it. You know one game at the time, because at the end of the day, that's all you can really focus on. So you know, our goal is to, you know, go out. Every week.

I mean it was and then you know, you start thinking well, maybe by the time November rolls around, maybe a few fans Khun go in, and that Northwestern game looks good or the next week later against Ohio State just so excited to have the Spartans but I was on a zoom. One of many resumes these days with coach Tucker last week and you talk about a whirlwind situation. Dude gets hired in February. Next thing you know that you know what hits the fan. You've heard everything about Michigan this year from Look out too Well, look out, You know, it seems like there's a big wide gap in regards to expectations heading into this year. But certainly Jim Harbaugh was very vocal in his his desire to get back on the field. And I think the big 10 fans across the nation thank him for that. But ah lot of question marks about Michigan as well. So it'll be. It'll be intriguing to see both of the in state schools this year Well, and it was nice to see the return of high school football in our great state of Michigan. Well, we're joined in studio now by our executive producer, Nick Roddy. On Nick during the break. You were alluding to the fact that it was rather rather bizarre. It was odd. I mean, you arrived and you had to go through the covert screening and there were security all over the place. But there's really They weren't really doing anything because there were no fans to usher around. There's wasn't anyone in the concourse. Just very strange and you, you watch on TV. We have a TV in our booth, and there's the virtual fans going on on the broadcast and right over there, and there's nobody there. Now did they have the media kind of spread out all over how the network most of the media was on the seventh floor, where the press box is. That's where most the beat writers were. The Chicago Bears radio. We were on the third level, and it looks like they had kind of different sweets for different organizations. A couple suites down what looked like for the Detroit Free Press suite. Mitch Albom was there. Shawn Windsor Carlos. Men are as they were on that sweet. So looks like they were spreading the media out as well. So they're split between two floors. Well, you know what? Look, not an easy undertaking, And we alluded to that with the President. Rod would on our conversation and this has been an ongoing battle and I don't know what the future holds. But ah You know, watching an actual game. In a beautiful venue like Ford Field with no fans. I would imagine that be Stephen King. Like I don't know that freaked me out. Yeah, it didn't. Really. I didn't notice a much difference because it seemed like at least for the first three quarters. The Lions Energy really came from the sideline. I mean, that that play that we just played with Marvin Jones barreling over Jalen Johnson. I mean, you saw Sean, your Ah, Robert Prince. There are receivers coach. He was jumping up and down and they were getting fired up on the sidelines. So I feel like the teams brought their own energy that they didn't really need. The fans for But then kind of when the tide turned in the fourth quarter. It was really quiet. And then when injuries happened, they've kind of turned down the crowd noise and it was silent in the stadium. Yeah, I was, uh, I was going to ask you was was the crowd noise piped in there as well? Because Point blank Nick, it didn't translate well over the radio or television. Oh, it was very it was quiet crowd noise. It was very soft crowd noise at Ford Field for like the first Let's say half of the first quarter. We didn't even know it was on, but then you can kind of pick it up. Okay? But conversely, there was some very entertaining dialogue being picked up from the sideline. Exactly. I was talking to our engineer Al Rosen, Bergen. And I said, Man, the per abs on the sideline are really kicking in right now, because you can hear everything. Oh, they were kicking in. And you are here and everything sometimes, but it is what it is. In this much different time. Alright, Nicky. Appreciate it. This post game player interview is brought to you by McClaren Healthcare. But just let me ask you first time in a lion's uniforms looked like there were a lot of positive things for you out there. Just give me your feeling being out there important playing for the home team. I felt good out there in a little blue and shop it up for the first time. I really enjoyed it. I really enjoyed it. I'm feeling special board. Tough game to lose and a tough way to lose it so much emotion goes into an opener. Just giving your feeling. I know you're fresh off it. Yeah, Yeah, It's a hard pill to swallow without a doubt. You know, you'd think and how they came out. And you know my personal opinion I felt like became a kind of slow. You know those things in some situation of stuff that we could've took advantage of me. I kept kept allows after capitalize on keeping drafts going. You know what being a 31 You know, by any means I have to, you know, pick up their first They're gonna get a yard and that just would have created more opportunities for us. You know, Personally, I feel like Someplace where I left a lot of the field. You know it. And I will beat myself up about that. Because you know you constantly playing three board three points on a board. That's how you lose what you gained. You know, you got a couple 1000 pushed. So this will be a lot that I can take away and we're going to be able to take away from this game as office unicorn yours. So you get a lot of that despicable. You see things out there that when you hit the room on Monday, you're going to say you know what we do that this looks different. "Guest host Kevin Dietz. You're listening to the guy Gordon Show here on W. J. R. It is Monday, July 27th 2020 of Beautiful Day. We have Mike Parsons with us and Nick Roddy Marie Osborne is also here with us. Today. We started out talking a little tiger baseball and we were talking about how weird it's going to be for opening day. The number to call in 1 808 5909571 808 590 W. J. R during the break that kind of led us to another conversation about The numbers, the testing Cove it everybody's a little tired of talking about it, I guess. But after this weekend and being out and about, you know, you look around and you notice some things that look a little different A lot more people seem to be wearing mask. I was up in northern Michigan this weekend. And everyone had masks on everywhere You win, we could go. That wasn't the case two weeks ago, That wasn't the case. It seems like people are generally taking the concerned more seriously. But there's still many, many people who do not think the numbers add up. They just feel like more people are being tested, and that's why there's more cases. On the books, and some people feel there's just a delay in the reporting and other people feel like even if you look at the number 6000 deaths in Michigan May not be a number big enough to warrant all the caution and concern and closed sounds that are taking place in the state of Michigan. When you compare that to the flu, or or some of these Other things that we have to worry about. Mike. Nick, Welcome back to the show here. What do you guys think? When you when you hear about the Koven numbers, the rise in In the number of cases. Well, I think myself and probably a lot of other people. But remember back in May, June it seemed like we were on the decline here and, ah It looks like we're kind of beating this thing. I think we all might have gotten a little bit too comfortable. Um, when that happened, but when it comes to the numbers, the frustrating thing And we saw it on on Sunday where it said we had over 1000 new cases. But a few 100 of those were because they were catching up on reporting cases that got back lugged. And to me that makes it So hard to get an accurate feeling on how the cases are doing, because if we have a couple 100 cases from a few days ago being reported for today, Then that I want to know how we're doing today, and I think maybe what they should do is is they should take the data like, say you get you get tested today and then you get your results in three days. It's going to be a positive test for that day. It should be a positive test for the day you got tested, so I think we should also go back and kind of retroactively. Adjust the numbers as we go. Do you think people are watching it that closely day by day, or do you think they're just generalizing on whether there's a surge or or the numbers are coming down? Because I feel like right now that I agree with you that we probably got a little too comfortable on. I feel like Personally in my world that there seems to be a surgeon in cases that I'm hearing about people I know, but I look at the numbers. You know you can. You can see the numbers are going up like you said, you're not sure exactly. You know when those people were tested versus when we get the actual numbers, and I think maybe the average person might not be watching it that closely. But I think the decision makers who go by the data and decide whether to Ah, lift restrictions, open things up close things down. I think they're watching it pretty closely and I know they use a two week rolling average but again That two week rolling average could gets tainted if you're if you're reporting cases that were tested weeks ago on today's on today's total. I feel like, you know, my personal opinion on this whole thing is that if we need to protect the vulnerable and if you feel you know that you're afraid to go out and go to work, and you want to stay home, then we can probably make arrangements for that, too. But the people want to work you want to get out there. I don't think they should be forced to not be ableto work to not be able to To go out. I feel like if the numbers were accurate, and people trusted the numbers, you could make those decisions a little easier. And you could, if if Spike's came in, then As a state. You could say we need to take a break here. We need everybody to come back inside for a couple of days or maybe even a couple of weeks if the numbers are bad, and then start to open up again. But you don't feel like you really have a great sense of what exactly is going on. You can have one doctor who says you Everybody needs to be home right now. If we just wear masks for two weeks and everybody stays home, we can kill this thing and and we'll be done with it. Any of another. Doctor. Come on. This is that won't work at all, because it's impossible to have everybody stay home and and for 14 days and kill this virus off, it just it just cannot happen. So that's not the right approach. The right approach is herd immunity. Let's let the people go out who who are healthy enough to go out and catch this thing s O that it's not being spread around because so many people already have it. D. How do you get? So you guys were coming into work right now. How do you feel about that? Me personally, I find I I feel fine coming into work because We're at a reduced staff, and it seems like since the beginning, we've all been really trying to look out for each other. If you're not feeling well coming in, don't come in wiping things down. S o. I feel fine about that. But when it comes to all.

"Show News Talk 7 60 W. J. R Filling IN for Frank Steve Courtney kind of saying Here we are the 22nd day of July and We are talking about Tiger's opening day, and that's going to be Friday. Of course in Cincinnati against the Reds. The 60 game schedule is going to get underway. You looking forward to it? I'll bet yaar. Ah Hopefully they'll get it going and be able to keep it going. Only time will tell. I know Ah, in conversation that we had With Ron Gardenhire on the Mitch Albom show last week. The skipper a little bit concerned, you know, he's up there a little bit, and he's just hoping like everybody else. That the protocols put in place. We'll be safe for everybody. You know the players, their families. Ah, coaches staff. Obviously there's not going to be fans. Eso Ah, you know, that's not going to be ah, an aspect of concern. But let's talk about that for a second. I mean, ah. You know, I watched some of this exhibition stuff, you know, without fans and Ah, been around sports a long, long time, and I don't care what sport you're talking about. Ah, you know, the fans provide the energy And look, I was happy to see baseball. For crying out loud. I was it was awesome. Anything really sports related these days is great, but there was just something missing. And you know, we've had conversations with various folks about football without fans and you know, football's an emotional game. It's Ah ah, very emotional and Players have said. They read the fans and they react to the fans and everything else in baseball players the same way golf completely different animals. You know you're out there. Manu Manu, and you're just doing what you do and you know, I'm sure they miss the gallery. Some of alluded to it, but it's a different deal. We're going to be hooking up shortly, hopefully With good friend Matt Shepard Tigers play by play Voice for Fox Sports Detroit I'm sure he is very excited about getting things underway. Come Friday last night by the way in Cincinnati. The tiger's back to back to back taters. Jacoby Jones, Nico Good room in Jonathan Shoop all go yard on the Tiger's teaching the Reds. Last night, anyway, the meaning of respect. Nick Roddy, join the conversation here. I think the Tigers were in a pretty decent situation because they have absolutely zero. Zero expectation going in and when you've got a 60 game scheduled Whoever gets hot going to be in a heck of a place? Yeah, if you get off to a good start, and you can make some, maybe some deadline deals and be buyers at the day deadline Well, it's going to bring up those prospects that aren't starting the season in Detroit. Casey my sent down you know, he's the real deal. He's had a pretty good camp. If you will. You know, I can't wait to see him in the bigs. But how about Mr Torkelsson? I wouldn't mind seeing And you know, since there's no minor league ball this year, what's to be gained by not having among the big club riddle me that Batman I don't. I don't have an answer to that. I I just don't understand. It's a matter of fact, the skipper Gardy saying last week, you know he wouldn't appreciate that as well. You know, give the kid a look a tw what he's in for and we shall see, but at the very least, ah, when the Tigers get her going Friday night with that Siri's kicking off with the Reds, you know I think it's going to be a good thing and I'll and I'll take it a step further here, folks, I think that if baseball Didn't get their act together for some semblance of a season. It had been Lethal. People have found something else to do. And they wouldn't have forgotten. That's just me anyway. Maybe, you know, in this Cold War era, you know it's a different deal because I understand you know the players concerns about safety with their family because there are some all stars who are not coming back. Um and I think the troubling spot part was it was the problem was money based. There's a lot of people right now with money based issues. So the fact that they were able to put this together and get this 60 game deal going, I think is absolutely great. I think people are gonna watch and they're gonna watch early and often. Is there an asterisk, though? In any Champion when the champion World Series champions crowd is there an asterisk by it? Oh, yeah, say they go. Oh, no. Doubt 32 28 they make the playoffs and Yeah. Oh, yeah. I mean, there's this season. Willbe called it, That's it. You know, years down the road when they take a look at the 2020 MLB season. Prove it. He's going to be entertaining. As a matter of fact, I think maybe in many ways it will be just as entertaining as the conclusion to 162 games scheduled, but that that debate has been going on forever. MLB don't need 162 games. The world Serie shouldn't be played anywhere near Thanksgiving. Second today. The season was over when the Tigers won in 68. It was over by mid October. Now you're talking But I think that you know it's going to be so many folks tuned in, you know, to watch this thing and don't write the Tigers off for crying out loud. This is going to be the exciting aspect and You know again, the Tigers no expectation. Going into this season. So you get off to a nice start and ah, we'll see. I'm gonna be curious to see at this particular point in his career. What about Maggie? You looking for Mickey to be anywhere near 300 this year? I would hope so, Yeah. I mean, he's still in shape, or he's still in shape from spring training. You would hope Unless you hit a couple all you can eat buffets. Ah, you know, here's a guy that Ah When I first got here. Sure falls best Major league hitter you've ever seen. True. No doubt about it. Water time waits for No. One. And you know, he's he's still got a few zeroes left on his paycheck before his time in Detroit is over. But you know, I think contingency what sort of impact he has still love watching the guy play. So was it a couple of years ago? Hey, had a lot of things going on on the and the personal life. Didn't seem like he was having fun. And, you know, maybe the great thing about watching in place, smiling all the time having.

Michigan democrat. She is part of a movement. There's already been the articles of impeachment and house damn expected to introduce the impeachment resolution as well. But as I said earlier, if you're one of those people that you cannot stand Donald Trump, and there are plenty of them. There are plenty of them within his own party. Okay. I think there's a big difference between disliking a president and talking and calling for the impeachment of said president. And if you are one of those people that are I guess in favor of impeaching the president. I I like to use this term in sports a lot. And I think it's applicable in society today today based on what legally constitutionally based on what? Because saying things like I don't like him. He's crude he's mean. Those are impeachable offenses. Those really aren't impeachable offenses. Case you missed it it to leave not only wrote an op Ed in the free press yesterday where she said President Donald Trump is a direct and serious threat to our country on an almost daily basis, he attacks our constitution, how our democracy how the rule of law how and the people who are in this country, how his conduct has created a constitutional crisis that we must confront now. Well, I'll let you guys debate whether or not that's but the clincher to all this in Chris do you have the sound by some strange chance. All right. Do you have the beep on you? And you went. Says momma look you one blowing.
