"KCBS celebrating the work of essential workers through song tonight we'll have more on that in about five minutes and right now here's Kevin Redditch with sports this week the chief of the executive branch of our federal government appeared on Sinclair TV and said he would have no problem with Colin Capra Nick getting opportunity to play once again in the NFL if he deserves it he should if he has the playing ability is playing wasn't up to snuff the answer is absolutely a word as far as nailing I would love to see him get another shot but obviously has to be able to play well if he can't play well I think would be very unfair I was very disappointed in the NFL when they came out with a statement we have to show respect for our flag and for our national anthem stream of consciousness always remarkable anyway you wonder about Capper Nick's ready notice remember he hasn't played in the NFL since December of twenty sixteen he has missed the last three years by Dan Orlovsky of ESPN points out that Michael Vick once spent twenty one months in jail and forty four months away from the NFL before he made his return Colin Capra Nick just south of the has to look at Michael Vick and go well it's been done before now I know their different talents I know Michael Vick was a far superior talent but we've seen at that position that guys are you a guy has been able to do that Michael Vick was around thirty years old and Colin Kaepernick is around thirty two years old so if you put in the right system he's in football shape and he wants to be a part of the NFL the four years away from the game is not as big a deal to me as it is for a lot of people are lofty mention the jets the ravens at Titans and the Seahawks as potential landing spots for Capper Nick as a backup quarterback at the sports desk Kevin.

"You know, so I've seen it, we've seen the growth and maturity as staff over the last three years, we've watched them the Cape Cod, league last two summers. So not only the physical development and of his tools to become skills were also, the physical maturity and the mental maturity that he's devolved or the last three years, we've thought warriors is like to worry was. Anything that's scouting director, Bill Schmidt on why they took. And, and look, Jeff bridage in his old capacity with the franchise. Would be was the farm director. And now Bill Schmidt is kind of the one who pulled and we talk about John Elway on, when he starts to delegate, all pretty much I in baseball, once you become a GM, you delegate all of that stuff, and it's part of the growth curve, it just takes longer. Now, I think the most heartening thing that comes out of this Rockies draft is that they have focused on college players they've gone quite a bit. And in fact, the kid out of Yukon, the pitcher could be to Denver, if everything works out well within a year or two because he's a back into the rotation guy in his stuff is phenomenal. Right now. But when you're a guy who's destined to be a reliever you can make probably the quickest climb of any position. But what the Rockies have done is they have invested a lot in college players in this draft which shortens the time conceivably. I mean there are guys that get stuck in the minor leagues. Greg Reynolds was a first round pick when the top forget where he went when the Rockies picked him, but he was a high first round pick. Any just any got stuck in, in the minor leagues in just never developed. So it's not a guarantee like any draft is in a guarantee, but when you draft college players there a little bit more of a finished product or little bit more projectable, and most often they make it to the major leagues quicker than these high school kids to, as you can imagine. So if you're looking for a where's the payoff, like, yeah, I'm interest. Ended and I wanted to learn more about these guys. But wins the payoff window, I see Michael Togadia in Denver. It could be three years as opposed to Brandon Rogers, which has been at least a handful of, of years. So Michael Togadia last night after getting drafted, I believe when one for four last night for UCLA is they move on in the college World Series. Kind of Tien we have the college World Series on these airwaves. So you'll be able to hear. Michael toga, Carl Kaufmann. No relation the kid out of Michigan. They picked with their last pick last night. He's in the he's advanced in the college World Series. So you'll be able to hear about some of these guys. So the Rockies again going, Michael Togadia first baseman out UCLA with their first pick in last night's draft. And again, we'll keep you updated on, if anybody with local ties Riley, Cornelio Nick ready end up getting drafted here while we are on the air as they continue to go to eight six zero zero four six we'll continue to take your thoughts on which game show you'd like to be on or what you think you'd be best at also the weirdest sites in sports guy. Hi, that has spent a ton of time in your organization going to another one cargo going to suit up against the Rockies for the first time ever tonight in Wrigley field and we'll continue talking about that. But immediately after the break. Lebron James is apparently fed up and has issued a threat to the Lakers organization. I'll tell you why LeBron's threats ringing very hollow. That's after we take a look at your Tuesday afternoon commute. The magic of better Bank starts with looking at the savings rates, most banks offer and saying, really Capital, One is.

There was segregation in public theaters in the workplace in the Santa Fe railroad. There was. Mexican restrooms. And there was the white restrooms. And there were segregation at the city's only public pool at a park called Paris hill Mexicans. They would go and meet at meatless to discuss the politics of the community. They threw for important Mexican holidays. They wore elaborate, costumes and rode horseback at Charles parades. And the Meatloaf cafe sponsor a whole neighborhood baseball team. It was very common for Mexican American. "Conference play at any point we didn't when the whack mountain west or anything so this is that's kinda shows you how good they are compared to especially their history but also you know to finish above five hundred is a pretty big deal for any air force team in you know in in ball play like that so you know i it's a it's a good team nicorette he's a star at first base you know they've got a really balanced lineup an older lineup a lot of guys who kind of didn't come in and play media kind of had to get into the program and now they're they're in the featured role so it's it's a good story in fact that you know it's just team that it's a program that has never done much and now it's it's all like the women's pro basketball team you know they're kind of building the right way to where you know even when things aren't exactly you know all the cards fall on their way they're still able to compete so it's it's one of those you know the i think it's another program that's trending the right direction for air force how much are you to blame for rob dow's hitting streak coming to an end i'll take full blame that's where i am sure they would they trade the jinx for the coverage that you have given them you can read about the air force baseball team in the online version of the kazan air force baseball power by slugger nick ready on track for a record season written by our good friend bryant brigham in and then re follow him on twitter as well at brent brigham brand appreciate the time we'll talk soon yup brent brigham in the gazette joining us here on drive time sports also very good right up about marie so do bon of the colorado springs sky sox if you'd like to check that out that's one of the featured stories on gazette dot com.

"The ground for basically 45 five minutes how do we carted off his helmet cut off of his head you know dra michael dell with a lot of bad stuff combined with a personality trait obviously or maybe that led to those personality traits but which are pretty dark place so good to see that he's doing better orlando pace is an nfl hall of famer and i talked to him about his generation of guys and then the guys that came through after him who part for me was making richard perle goals and and be respected by your peers and that what guy didn't seem as much of the case later years of my career interested you think it's because of money or i don't know maybe maybe contracts got bigger but you know guys can say that the first time i came out at a girl you obviously guys thought you know when i came out record deals we're happy for numberone pick so uh but i i just baker in a work ethic and and guys would give it a lot will not a lot earlier nick ready sense that so interesting so you actually witnessed this on the way out it did it make you a little bothered because that was the way that you were wired thereby oskoui were just wire different insiders she's interesting because it wasn't like orlando pace was in the seven dis the 80s even before the enemy in orlando pace came in at a late 90s to the nfl as the number one pick overall and he went obviously the st louis rams in one a super bowl there and ended up being one of the best offensive lineman ever but paye said even body ended he retired that he saw difference in those ten or fifteen years that he played which is interesting because you know money did get really huge but it was pretty big when he came out but he says he saw difference which is a pretty eyeopening let's get your football forecast here weather watch tower forecast with your personal needs jeez football tasks birth control conditions inside it us bank stadium with what i believe is a 65 percent chance of the eagle shocking the world and ending the patriots dynasty right here right now doesn't mean that bella check in are going to retire after the game but this could be their last great shot you.
