"We did our free agency. I think we did at the Dana Moratorium lifted recall correctly most it was a day after but one of the comments you made about the Celtics was I love this team and we're going to dig into a little bit later on but you love the idea of Walker Planet team with some actual wings. That's something that all due respect a guy like Nick Patou but Charlotte's consistently kind of undermanned in those positions sounds and all their players tended to kind of be kind of a one and kind of a four they had a hard time finding guys that like do three when they brought in Marvin Williams. I think I'm kind of UNUM is a guy at the time that was kind of profiles a three but now he's clearly a four as the leadership that as you get older no lack of wing depth in Boston get there. We'll see if you're filling as optimistic about them. We touched on the last podcast Zach Lowe's comment but he wouldn't be shocked to see the magic finish third word and we talked a little about who we see in that third spots a little bit of a either a spoiler preview depending on how you look at it in a positive way as a preview but they one forty nine games last year the organization and the fan base would say that that was a disappointing number everybody kind of lows around numbers but they they certainly expected to do better that second round exit in Eastern Conference playoffs after five games to Milwaukee they mock you just really used their length and their defense to basically shut down. Kyrie and the team was not really yeah I would say mentally engineer to kind of overcome career not bringing bringing to the table with with that Formula Kinda require that he brings to the table so Celtics tenth on offense six on defense net six big big losses Horford carry Irving Aron baynes Marcus Morris one of seventeen power forwards in on the Knicks team now Terry Rozier. We talked a lot about race here. Last episode added Kemba Walker very visible and his canter. We talked about and the free ends the episode how that's not a a joke. He's still a guy that has kind of a strange presentation of his personnel and himself on the court but he's gotten incrementally better over the last few seasons and his you know he was starting sitting around team that went all the way to the western conference playoffs last year and didn't as impasse seasons like require his coach to pull him basically give them any viability on defense so that that's really all the added apart from young guys as Kim Walker and his canter through the draft they got Romeo Romeo Langford assuming he's rounding into shape health wise Great Williams Celtics. Fans are very excited about that. I'm so Carson Edwards on to a tomato tomato waters fifty number funeral pick a guy. I really liked as an. Mba Prospect especially on defense not a big guy but really strong hands really good anticipation skills other LSU Mak strouss Natural Score undrafted out at Paul and then otherwise Greg. I didn't really know it's all Doug and here they have like a pretty big group like project centers like it's crazy this appropriate the twenty five year old Frenchman sub fifty five the next guy make him look like a small Mall Ford Taco Fall Seven seven ten the Guy Mayton after the Miami Heat set him lose six eight to forty Naw guaranteed auntie grandma drafted guard Radford fiscal two thousand fifteen mostly playing Europe since then US twenty two ninety seven three point tenths to four seasons but he shot thirty different different international line last year that he ought to make pro shots to be an MBA player a lot of new faces here return Hayward. We'll see if he's filling any better and just more more functional player Tatum Brown Smart Ts Otaly wanamaker Robert Williams again Greg said I distinctly remember because I put it out it on twitter at Lot Willis on the Celtics team. I love team. You still feel good about them now or are you feeling differently. Yeah I mean I love the team. It's GonNa be fun to watch. I'm just going to be exciting to see when wires. I think it's a little bit harder to gauge. I'm not backtracking. You're hedging in any way but what about the team is is now a two things one. MM cameras got guys around him could make plays you can finish. I think the wings that Charlotte had were a little bit what Mitchell dimensional a little bit Tennessee tours missile below league average shooters not overly athletic explosive up another core guy so chemists definitely going to have athleticism and speed speed around him tatum and Jaylen Brown young athletic to get up and down the court but also good shooters efficient players Gordon Hayward still. We'll try to work his way back to where he was before. The injury is still a very quality player. you know the bigs. I mean obviously that's where the big big losses are with. Al Horford referred Aaron Banks etc but I said two things one is a love Kimbe in the mix with this group of players and also love that now the path that's Kinda cleared Josh for Jason Tatum Jaylen Brown to step forward and instead of being sort of like second tier players on this roster. It's time for them to be. I hear players in this roster and it's GonNa be an opportunity for the whole world and the NBA to see Can they elevate their game could take a larger role for this Boston Celtics team so that's that's what I'm really excited about. Everyone knows the story when Kyri didn't play in the at the end of the season and the postseason two years ago essentially Brown on and pay them just went crazy got all the way to the Eastern Conference finals look Lebron had to lead the cavaliers back from an ot deficit and then Kyrie came back and I had said before the season last year. Greg and I don't think we're going to push back. I felt like I was kind of a lone voice saying this. This is GonNa be weird because if Kyrie interceded on the Celtics Roster they're going to commit to each other because they train him when you're left base essentially with the playoffs of being yeah no brainer if he was healthy at all and then the celtics have to commit to them as their leader and I talked last year about how it looked to me like the culture cetera with being Horford who is fantastic ultrasensitive being crate tyree who's just done enough weird things individually while hit all all of those hit hit songs along the way and they just looked dysfunctional and not like like we talked about last week will okay see you this will they play Hari other. They commit to each other all those sorts of things so the big thing everyone's GonNa Watch earliest how the TATUM and Brown locate hayward's a big part of that too but hayward will be as good as his body allows him to be. We know he's mature. We know he's he knows how to play knows how to prepare for season and it's just a matter of going to be what he can physically. We do the he'll. He'll he'll bring every bit. His body allows him to do but where tatum umbrella are mentally you gotta wonder if Brown is any any kind of weird space in terms of whether he's GonNa agree to an extension or not before the season starts but let's kind of talk about their so tatum rookie sixteen point four points per thirty six minutes on forty forty seven and a half percent field goal kind of ridiculous and unexpected forty-three percent from the three point line a lot of wide open threes that you're like a Lotta rookies who did very different things even his rookie season than what he did at Duke League really know what to do with him. I think for about the first half the season that's why I got a Lotta Open threes. I don't know forever ever replicated umbrellas in his last year eighteen point four points thirty six minutes on forty five percent shooting thirty six percent from the line which for him was going to be always think unacceptable double number sixty seven percent at the rim which is not bad but he's capable of being like one of the five best players at the Rim and the League two hundred ninety one layup attempts that he converted less than half of them in his rookie season three hundred sixty lay attempts and half of them so I still think he's capable of what one day of leading the League again scoring scored all three levels has a good high release point out his jump shot is very repeatable superfluid shooter but he's going to have to learn learn how to create contact when attack the Rim and there's any sort of resistance there and get to the free throw line and people guys that maybe takes as many as ten free throws a game that you probably a little stronger to feel confident and surviving game season because he's pretty thin guy but to me. I don't know the guy that like dunks through any sort of big defenders at all because he just doesn't have a white frame despite the fact he is a good elevation and he's a good athlete and like when he has even just a little bit of space he can dunk strong but he's not really I who finished his through defenders so he James Harden or other guys that aren't like super explosive guys attacking the rim easily. It's really really him. Embracing contact getting to the free throw line thoughts yeah and I it's just a mentality of am better than other people in the court court players come in the league with really high ceilings an all potential in the world as a rookie or second-year player they they're it's sort of like deferring a little bit to their teammates and even sort of not not sort of taking the Alpha male role in certain key moments. That's all WanNa see from him is just go out there like. I'm the better player you're not gonNA. Stop Me. I'm not going to be a ball hawk. I'M NOT GONNA play in a way that the ball stops with me. We aren't able to play our offense is a t but at the same time in certain situations. I don't care who you are. I don't care WHO's trying to stop me here. Come the see what you've got and he needs to play a little bit of a chip on the shoulder and again not in a way that takes away from the team but in a way that says has his confidence even a little bit of healthy cockiness and I think that'll help him elevate his game so whatever dating I record together and talking about him Danes. Not really high on on him in some of the guys that we kinda right with a peace through hoops kind of have mixed feelings on him so I said I think he can be the leads league's leading score more than what's this career fight against that number thirteen think he makes I would put it in the range of five. Are you close to where I am or you. Closer to where others I hear from in my circle are we are just like I don't know Glenn. That's really you know what's in his paths. I'm a little bit lower on him. I think he's really good. I think he could be high efficiency supplier on a good team. He has potential to be anything. He wants to be this league for me. The question is does he have the DNA to be a star player player on a good team. That's my question. I'm not saying he can't but it's yet to be inserted. Yeah I am going to be very telling just because I do think Kyri kind of cramped his style L. as much as any other player on the team. WE'RE GONNA talk about Kimba being in place essentially the third elite point guard that Brad Stevens has had in their apologies marcus smart fans. I love his to play in the team. That is just the way he'll embrace defensive assignment. There's like a all star level point guard but you know I. I think that it's going to be a pretty big season for him..

"To Stephen with a five year one hundred sixty million dollar contract. Offer. It seems like Chem is actually leaving charge. You wrote though earlier this week before that rumor came out that you'd prefer them to taste center, such as Nikola Russa veg over Campbell Walker. So are you not the biggest fan of this? Potential move for them. That's a couple of things. First off this whole jersey thing, do you ever want to Oklahoma City gave katie's jersey to. PJ dosier. Oh, yeah. The stuff. So anyways, as far as the Kemba, really, really so, like with Kemba which my, my thought process was, I thought that Horford was the more important piece for Boston, Kyrie. And I was thinking you've really got replace Horford. And it was two levels to it. I think would placing Horford allows you to maximize Jason Tatum, and Jalen Brown. My biggest concern with the signing Kemba is now it's Kemba Gordon Tatum, Brown. I wonder if the chemistry stuff comes back because Jason Jalen aren't getting their shots. And now you have no center really at all. Like how do you how do you fill the five spot? If you signed Kemba cap space, that's an interesting point about chemistry because I think kyri is getting all the blame, but he doesn't deserve all the blame. This is not. This is multiple guys. This is Terry. Rozier wanting a bigger role this Jalen Brown wanting a bigger role. Brad Stevens said to Jackie MacMullan in on a piece that she posted today. ESPN that if anybody deserves the blame him. And you know, I don't think anybody's herbs the blame. I don't think it's Brad, I don't think it's all enemy deserve all the blame. I should say it's evenly distributed. There's just a bad mix. Just don't work out. It seems like it should have on paper, just didn't and for Kemba some of those issues could potentially come up. But I will say this charts Kemba in Charlotte has been such a ball dominant force. However, I do think over the years with those teams he has shown a greater willingness to operate off ball. He he's a better off ball shooter in someone's through numbers at me about how kyri ranks ninety four percentile offscreen shooting and cameras, like seventy five and it doesn't matter like, there's watch the film Kemba interest level, two is acting long to do it. And it's ability. Kemba is far superior at those tough shots coming off screens balancing your feet, mid air, which is, why is AM Thomas? Was so potent in those Sarah's. That's why Rancho many off ball screens for Thomas, and that's something they had to go away from Cairo in the had her on more on ball with him because it just wasn't something. He's elite at he's more a basic offscreen shooter, and that's fine. He was very he's very good at spotting up. But with Kumba I think Boston can go into a bit more of their motion offense with more off ball action for Kemba than they could with kyri and maybe they're still issues. Maybe Jalen still, like I need more shots. Maybe that happens. But I do think that would allow them to be a bit more in their flowed offense that they prefer and they were able to carry and carries a better overall player. He's a better on ball score. He's better shooting off the dribble from three than Kemba is, but Kumba has closed the gap quite a bit over the past two years. And he's never played with anybody as good as what he couldn't Boston with what Tatum could be with Brown could be Nick Patou. Mm-hmm. Is the best player has ever played with or L Jefferson, which is sad. Is Gordon Hayward. Nick Petuna is that all God boy. At least a compatible but to pass. Good passer. You know. Thinking is like if you went with the center, you let hatred be a passer and play Brown and Tatum on the wings. So now, if you sign Kemba are you going to start haywar Tatum Brown on all three of them? I don't. I'm not sure I think for Boston your point about what do you do at center is fine..

"Like Linda tacking point guards, a guy even getting minutes in this series German. He's older now. Yeah. He caught him at his peak. But maybe like his slightly post-peak. He got like a hill like Nick pa- tomb before Nick mature fell off at Har. The one Nick Patou season before he got his own bag. Oh my gosh. Yeah. He was very good between was probably the best player on that team. This is before Kemba really came Kemba. We have now because he probably wasn't shooting proficiently from three point is he was as he is now. He's basically stuff light at this point for awhile. Couldn't even really hit threes. That's a really good question. Marvin Williams is also very good of that. Now we're just naming Hornets who most of which are still on the still hanging around. Yeah. All paid really well. So I'm Jay pain is guys. There you go. I think it would be cool to see Kemba in a number to roll off a player like LeBron. Dowager be interested. It'd be interesting at change of his career changes kind of path selfishly. I wanna see him on the clippers like if it's not New York by do wanna see him play off of quad, like everything they have their I don't know what it means for Landry. Shamet kind of have a that shooting guard spot lockdown actually both guard spots locked down for the future. If you just wanted to bring qui- in there and build around there, but I don't know. I think he just needs a stage. It'd be great to see that I think, everyone is rooting against the Hornets, which was be a really tough thing if you're Hornets fan. I mean, let's say no, you just I guess. Right. Right. Once Campbell this tough for the Hornets because Kim believes, then you're doing two thousand eleven all over again tank from cagey, it's like. It's like you have any conference on organizations rebuild after they done the last decade. I remember when I covered the, the Hornets playoff series against the Miami Heat. And that was a brutal. Well with seven games after traveling beat writer that meant I got three separate stays on south beach. So that's fair. I beg to different. I almost got to draw a nice little play like Charlotte, Miami school, quick nice flight. It was great. I had I had a lovely moving on. Damian Lillard the other guy that had some interesting implications here also supermax eligible follow Getty wrote about it for the ringer earlier this week. It seems like this one's a more cut and dry decision. It just seems like the blazers are back to square one. They're back to where they were were last offseason and the two before that where we know that what they have works to a certain degree, but can get past what it already is, I think for me when you're looking at or Portland Poland as they wanna go. It's almost like you don't even war. It's like you go beyond like Rauscher. It's like I've got Dame condemn convince someone else to comply with him Portland's. And if he can, then we'll move players move contracts trade picks, we'll get off guys like Dame talks. Jimmy baller and say complain Portland's? I don't know if that would work but that's what has to happen. He has to convince star comply with them and are maybe like quiet day means our player like that. How are they going to get him? I don't know. I guess if you're an optimist, you look at some of the progress as Collins has made I mean, I love me some Collins, I, I mean, no question about it. But like for it's really it's like Kazakh gonna become the trade peace gets, like when Jay baller becomes available or becomes available in a trade. If you're Portland realistically, those guys to come that trade for me to figure out a way to get like packets like CJ Zach Collins like Anthony Simon's and try to go after star. That's not bad. I mean, it's a package, and I think for up until then you could tread water with black Collins, nourish front court. It doesn't seem like a menial is like it. He might come back, but they do have some luxury tax. We are cap situation coming up. Yeah. And then Rodney hood is another guy who if, if you really want to invest some of the few dollars that you have available to you, do you wanna, like.

"Franchise right now in the NBA in my opinion. Michael Jordan for as great as he is a player has been that bad as an owner. Michael Jordan has green lighted contracts that should have never been greenlighted. This team is in salary cap. Hell right now the Hornets are. Nick, Patou Marvin Williams biz MAC Biondo. These guys are are player opting into deals that they shouldn't get to play opt into Biondo is hamstring them for seventeen million dollars this year. It's so bad that they brought Biondo back after he killed him financially. The first time it didn't give them anything Kimball. Walker is an unrestricted free agent who's going to leave and he's should. And there's not a person in this great city that I live in Charlotte North Carolina that would blame him. He's got to run. He's got to go somewhere. Even the Knicks. You got to go to the Knicks run to the Knicks Kemba. This is a franchise that has zero salary cap flexibility this season, that's got miserable contracts that cannot unload. Michael Jordan did bring in mic Mitch Cup. Check to run the office to run things to figure out salaries. But. Everybody in this city knows it's not gonna happen right now. They're stuck. But whom Marvin Williams beyond all coming back this city, and I'll say we because I live in it. We're gonna lose Kimba, and we should. And we know if that happens. This is a franchise that will be lucky to win twelve thirteen games this season. It is that bad. The one bright spot is miles bridges. First season was pretty good. We can look into the future with miles bridges. But until these salaries are off the books. This is a train wreck of a franchise that literally can go nowhere but down because Kim is gonna go and Kemba should go. So I know nobody out this paying attention to the Hornets. But I live in this city. So I have to it's a mess right now Kirk Morris, and it is a mess of franchise right now as much of a mess, and they still went thirty nine games come on. That was with Kemba that was with Kimba. They were still in the footsteps of the playoffs. And you're saying that we can add hopefully. One guy if Kimball walks I show places in in. There's a structure in place in ho there's have check clues come. If KENDALL walks Kimball walks. What are you going to say? Well, I think you're gonna find some guys who can kind of come together, I feel like in east distill be viable. It's not like they were the worst team in the NBA. You know what? I mean. I get if Kimball walks. Yes. But when I look at the Lakers as my number one, Dr you gotta understand they have the best player in the planet. That's.

"Which honestly I don't disagree with because I don't see any other future for them. And you're still going to have a heart. You're gonna have an even harder time surrounding him with talent being the trying to get it as if you do that, you handcuff yourself even more. So what's the alternatives at the try and do some sort of like, Sixers processing, right? It's like, well, how do you even you have so much money on the bugs? There's like the every Avenue's a dead end unless you blow it out. That's the thing is that Kemba is someone that they got through the draft. And I think that they're thinking is that that's the only way that they're going to get people. Yes. So right now, if before they make a decision on Kemba summer, he's an unrestricted free agent for the first time they've one hundred two million dollars on the books already before Kemba even comes into play here. Nick, Patou, biz MAC beyond bows player option. Cody Zeller Marvin Williams player option Michael Gilchrist player option. That's eighty five point one million. This is somebody multiple times at sorry. This is a team who multiple times on this podcast. We've wondered who their second best players not gonna like a stiff competition, but like by default. I have to say when the first day possible that guys could pick up their player options this season. There's going to be like a party like the bojangles and Charlotte. Sure, some of these guys. There are three player options that like I can't imagine they waste even a second. Like beyond Bose who. I believe is coming in around fifteen million for doing nothing. I will say this recently. You've started to see signs of the coaching staff starting to deploy their guys in a little bit more interesting way. I think we talked about this briefly last week and Kevin O'Connor wrote about it for the ringer. I think two weeks ago just kind of what they've been doing and the obstacles facing Kemba Walker, but they're kind of leaning into some of these younger guys, you're seeing more miles bridges. You're seeing Dwayne bacon. A little bit more who's who's kind of like budget. What mowing monk was supposed to be right? And so there's this chalk outline of versatile. Switch -i diong with like a rim protector and biz MAC at the rim. Still it does feel like crying like. To do something. If you gonna pick something to put your hoping if you want if you wanna call it that it is sort of the coaching staff in and that new gyms burger coming in and sort of trying to stab which a different kind of culture if you will and playing those young is more. But again, it goes eight like that crashes against the everything that is on your patient. If you will, you know, so it's like, how do you do that? And how do you consider the future of the team while also considering how come fits into obviously the biggest question for them this offseason? But it doesn't sound like they're not gonna offer him all the money. It's about whether he turns it down or not they have a number of second round graphics going out as late as dozen twenty one. But they also do have they should have four coming in like stipulations on both sides. But. It's not it could be worse. Having drafted particularly well over the course of the past few years monk. I don't have much faith in them. I don't know if you guys still do, but Kaminski another guy who's kind of dying on the vine around. He's missing them. Yeah. Team. So I have the Charlotte to actually as my bleakest outlooks. I had the sons seven just because it feels like I agree with highly. But just a tanking team just has all this wealth of talent. And so you just hope if they get the right coach that they can do something. I totally agree that everything comes from the top down. And it is attached that to a team. That's not like monetarily stuck. Yeah. I think that that's what makes the wizards. Even though they have the most talent out of the three teams we listed at the top the most bleak situation. You look at the Tyler Johnson trae they swung at the deadline is is kind of like maybe understanding their situation a little bit just that they have cap space..

"He was in the trade as a salary dump. I don't know how else to put it without putting kindly wasn't like the marriage trying to we're trying to get a player who they thought was going to be a major piece going forward. But nonetheless. You know, he had a stress injury last year. And he's now got a stress reaction this year and has having surgery or had surgery to put a rod in his in his leg. I mean, Bobby, and that's what about old injuries. I mean like what about if the guy's got an old injury. And it's still being treated what's the gray area of how much you reveal or you counting on the team to know that he had a stress injury. And just know that Brian when you do a trade and you're sharing medical information. You've got to go back who you know, when that player was on your roster. So with Hardaway junior, you know, you signed him in two thousand seventeen so whatever and that that two year span. As far as previous injuries current injuries. And basically what you do is. You say if the condition is resolved or if it's ongoing now, I don't know how the Knicks phrased as far as where his current medical injury is as far as resolve situation. But yeah, I mean, you're that you are you're making your pace of putting everything out there as far as previous and current be incurred injuries. Because if in case, I mean, there's been situation I think it was was Jeff green a long time ago where Oklahoma City did not disclose it to to Boston. And I think costs draft pick. If you don't disclose it. It will come back and get there. Yeah. I think there was an issue with the timber wolves and blazers in with Martell Webster. Yeah. That was probably four or five years ago. Now, the blazers and the wolves had this little dispute going on. I don't remember what the Genesis of it was, but they were sort of actively working little espionage against each other. Brandon ROY was declared disabled and then the Timberwolves brought him back and with his knee injury and sent him back onto the blazers books. I believe if I'm not mistaken. Correct under- also is an offer sheet signed for Nick Patou. I believe as part of that. Right. And so we'll sign dinner temporal signed Nick between to an offer sheet. I don't remember that believe you're correct. I believe you're correct can. So I just looked this up. This was in two thousand thirteen the the timber wolves traded for Marta Webster found out that he had a back injury. Although he had he had missed some time. He admits some time with a back injury before. But long story short the blazers played paid the wolves at one point five million to settle a dispute. So the dispute was settled. To several years later. The trade was actually of two thousand ten they didn't resolve it into two thousand thirteen. So there is some stuff that goes on here. Bobby now now knowing what you know about. I mean, do these details at all change the way, you view that Knicks Navix trade at this point. No, I it doesn't. I mean. I think how I look at it from Dallas perspective if they knew the situation was with Porzingis take away. What's going Hardaway would junior the able to give up to future first round picks? You have to have a strong comfort level that whatever the situation will eventually be resolved. I mean, you're not going in here with with blinders on, so no, I don't, you know, it's it's you know, we talked about Tim Hardaway junior as a salary dump. And he, but he's still owed. You know? I mean, he was cap filler..

"Billboard dot coms interview with Victor where he talks about he breaks out every song on his album. Yeah. I think just in us. More. So for the ladies because I feel like they can relate to it. It's really just telling them that. We're really into you when we're in a relationship in order for me to love you. You have to teach me how to I gotta say my interpretation of his songs with slightly different. But I think it's not it is super x rated that album. I'll just say that Justin. You seems quite direct. He learned his not a metaphor there. No, no. There is very explicit content in the Salvator well test, the Victor depot. Shouts picture all deep. I'll see you impacting the just in the court. It's really fantastic. You've gotta listen to it. It's perfect for desktop. I've got Hornets. I've got a question from I thought. Yeah. Can Kimball be the best player on a playoff contender because he's having a killer season. And I just wonder if he's good enough to elevate an entire team because so far we don't have any evidence on a playoff pla-. You mean a team that is solidly in the playoffs like say a four five but not like an eastern Europe. Like in the same way that the pistons are bullied this year by Blake. Yeah. Oh, a depot elevated the Pacers. You've right now, you've got the Hornets. They're a game under five hundred but they would be in the playoff mix. But it's Kemba good enough to really elevate them. I think so, but it's an issue of team construction at that point. You know, I think about Dan DeVine's article by the clippers recently where he just pointed out, they don't have a bad guy. If Cambodia was the best guy on a team of players who are just all not bad. Fuse the Tobias Harris on the clips. Yeah. He would surely be the best player on a playoff contender. I every time. I watch him. I'm like, man, I. She had a good teammate. I wish he had good teammates. I wish that it was an, you know, Kaminsky and stuff that he was thrown like I want to see them play bridges more. They has looks like the beginning of the year. They looked like they were gonna play monk. And then he's falling completely out of the rotation. But yeah, you're right. They've got like Frank Kaminsky, and like one of the twelve Zeller's Zeller's in the Plumlee, keep multiplying. They're like mog, y you can't feed them after midnight. But like full, thank you. I appreciate but the rest of the team like Nick Patou. Mm-hmm. I used to love Nick pa- tomb, and we not really a thing anymore. Nick attune is a prime example of what happens when you when you earn yourself a defensive reputation, a defensive reputation is great because it just never fades away. It never goes away. When you are unable to score anymore. You get maybe a season and a half of everybody giving you a pass is he'll you know, slumped, blah, blah, blah. But when you can't defend. Anymore? That's just goes for years. Yeah. People to the end of Kobe's career were still saying that he is one of the best defensive players in the year in the league. And I think that's the case with him. He was he's such a versatile player love for so long. And now it's gone, but they're still that kind of cash a and especially because he in the small market where people don't really get to see him on a daily basis. He's still able to carry that reputation of oh, Nick Batum, very versatile. Good player. I would like to see the Nick tomb from Portland with Kemba. I would like to see, you know, bridges play more and play. Well, and like yes surrounding Campbell with guys that we could get a real sense of. Okay. This is what he could actually do. Because so far we haven't seen it. And it's great. And also we just don't have a lot of players like him in the league. You know, there used to be a lot of kind of these combo score. I perimeter guys who did it on the drive and now it's really Kemba kyri. And the everywhere your creator creators who you're I'm gonna take it all on myself little guys, you don't see those anymore..

"Brain fart. Now who is the guy who crashed into the? God guys. I am. I am. You're not. You're not really giving us much to work with their buddy. He made the all star team, they treat the the nets traded him for Damian Lillard. Gerald Wallace Gerald Wallace. I was I knew Gerald, Gerald. What was his name? He used to go flying into the crowd crash. They call them crash crash, right Jesus. I just proved against my point. If I couldn't remember his name. See why he wants you to him. So Ken blow from basketball? I know. I just think it's welcome to too many things in my head. So Kemba is a free agent. He is making. Salary this year. He is not autumn. He is not a max player and even worse. He's a less than a ex player signed in two thousand fifteen his salary. This year is twelve million dollars. He signed a contract extension a four year forty eight million dollar extension Steph like actually, I think I think he's got the same deal. As lowry. I believe we've it's exactly the same deal. Now. It's just a straight for this. This would be the fourth year. I think no raises in the deal. They signed a flat deal twelve twelve twelve twelve. So he hasn't even gotten a race contract had raise in four years. So he's underpaid. He's dollar for dollar one of the best players in the league, probably top five dollar for dollar. There's a chance you might qualify for the supermax, right? Well, all NBA team, right? So, you know, a lot of things are there's a lot of factors that come into that injuries and whatnot. I would not think that he would be able to make the NBA team. But if there was an all NBA team fifteen games in. He would probably be one of the guys on the one of the six guards. I don't know if he will be at the end, he certainly right now could see the could see that. But yeah, I just think it's about one hundred at least so have shot, you know, which it looks like in the east with the way some of these teams are playing early on. You'll have a shot at. Yeah. So right now his max is five years one hundred about one hundred ninety one hundred ninety five million. Is. Is going to be immense pressure from the Hornets to pay that. The Hornets of our team that I'm gonna tell you right now is one of the biggest money losers in the league. They they are dependent. They've received more financial aid from there. Counterparts there. Other twenty nine hundred any team in the league in the last five six years. They have Nick petunia. And this is one of the things why you know, Michael, Jordan. You're. A little bit nervous pay given out Amax contract to get Nick Patou on a mex- contract. One of the most questionable. Max is given out in NBA history. Tendon, can you give Kemba Walker? A guy who is the heart and soul of your franchise. But it is not proven to be a difference making player in terms of wins and losses. He's won the many games. But he's not carried them into the playoffs. He's played. I think in. Three point five series right here. I think it's. I think it's to playoffs. There's eleven playoff games. I think he's okay. So had this. I I was only remembering the seven game series against the heat in sixteen before they unpaid Nick between all the money to watch overtime gaming. It's the Sixers the other night. He made the playoffs and thirteen fourteen. They got swept by the heat. I believe. So he's played eleven playoff games. I mean, I don't want. I don't want anything bad about him. But he's not a guy who can care you to the playoffs. Do you give Kemba Walker two hundred million dollars? Why? Thank you, sir. Bontemps? I want to hear this one..

"And my answer as of right now might be neither the the real lawyer answer is it depends on how much each guy gets gets rid of Megyn. He's, he has a peasant minimum and Russell has a twenty million dollar capital. So that's a that's big bar to in Dinwiddie I can see because he doesn't have the blue chip reputation. It's more likely that he falls through the cracks, a free agency than Russell because somebody's going to see stars in their eyes because of what Russell was. And there's a reason why he was drafted as high draft number two overall. So or was he? He was three Jalil lists. I can't remember, but but I think there need. They need to look for a real long term answer that makes sense with their core, and there's a significant chance. That both those guys get overpaid or that spending on either of them takes the nets out of the twenty twenty b, which might actually be their best chance. It really getting good for Egypt's art. Let's move on to the Hornets to whom would you give a majority of the shooting guard minutes to four, the Charlotte Hornets and so who are options here? I mean, I think we could talk about their wing rotational. We're gonna talk about that actually for the heat with Liam who's really interesting, but you know, some of the guys they have, they've got twenty Parker whom they've played. Some in two point guard lineups germy lamb is starting for them right now. They got me monk as well. He played thirty four minutes the other night against the box of, you know, and we should mention Nick Patou because he was the starting to guard last year for the team, though he shouldn't be the to guard for this looks like petunias probably going to be a really at small for them. Miles bridges is in that mix, Dwayne bacon in theory, or he probably shouldn't play at all based on what he shown it in his career as kind of a ball, dominant guy doesn't shoot threes and isn't efficient. So is this thing? I mean, they actually have some options. Moncus has looked saw. I think lamb though is the best two way option also has some pretty good ball skills. So I Kim starting makes sense. Monk is really a a Lou Williams type, a sixth man in theory, if he can get there, don't really care for Tony Parker at the two at all, just with his lack of shooting, and they have, you know, between monk lamb but to they've got enough other guys who can handle the ball on the perimeter that having Parker out there with another point guard just doesn't really make sense. I think he should just be more of a straight backup, ROY Mandic. They're trying to find way because he is this marquee sign. They're trying to find ways to play him more, but I don't really see him being particularly effective just as he wasn't really incenting Tonio last year. So anything you would add to that? I would say when you have Kemba starting and between can make passes and decisions though he's not as dynamic a physically is. He's been earlier his career. You don't need as much of what Maliki bunk brings sure his ability to catch and shoot is valuable. And if lamb continues to struggle as this shooter than starts. To change the calculus a little bit, but I would rather have a little bit more size there, especially now that the bringing 'em cagey off the bench. So I think lamb is a more cohesive fit with it. Now, if they moved Kemba Walker, then you probably bring the leak monk into the starting lineup to give you a more dynamic ball handler to compliment whoever is the other, the other guard in the starting on it, or third, she was pretty good early, Fay the, yeah, heat almost came back on them the other day, but the nicely, they're just two completely destroyed the magic in what that's going to be one of the worst offensive games all year, that magic game in Charlotte. I, we've got about four minutes left here where you wanna go. Next, I want you to answer this because I've been struggling with it since we saw a prompt. What is it? Reasonable return for Kemba Walker, new trade right now. Oh, well, there's always a couple of components this, right? Like if they're playing if they continue to play well this year than it takes a lot right? Because you're, you're not gonna like gut this team that's going to be in the playoffs..

"So when they were going one on one, it looked better than it did last year that m. k. g. center lineup did get the Hornets back into it. Also getting the Hornets back into it was seven points in the last one. Second of the second and. Third quarter of the buzzer beating threes and one of them was an an one in each of those quarters. And then Kemba Walker also went crazy. The bucks were playing with the big back. You know, that's the coverage that ever had been wanting for a long time, but Kemba Walker, he really got on fire and killed it. He was hitting some difficult attempt to me. I didn't think he was being defended poorly most of the time by Eric Bledsoe. But you know, he was on his back and Walker still. They're setting the screen high enough that Walker could get seperation, pull up from three finished seven of thirteen from downtown fifteen to twenty nine overall and dropped forty. One points also was able to to get into the lane. Some interesting rotational stuff for both teams of miles bridges didn't play much only fifteen minutes over one. It's always interesting when almond this rookie had a great preseason and then you look down and he's not really playing that much Parker. You mentioned actually had a decent game us four on eight monk hit a big three pointer late. He had eighteen months thirty four minutes from relief monks. That's actually very encouraging. Nick Patou continues to. Look really ugly offensively to out eight though he was out there late playing a as the power for next 'em. Kaji is made the running back for the bucks Ersan Ilyasova got a lot of the minutes at backup center in the second half Christian would did play for five, five minutes. He was one of one from three. They also gave John Henson twelve minutes at center. The backup wing situation was probably the most interesting Donte even Cento twenty two minutes to get the most minutes of any books backup perimeter player. The bucks also did not play any normal backup point guard. They just kind of put the ball in the hands of either brogden or or Jaanus playing with Suzuki guys. Even Gento actually impressed. We didn't really get to see anything him in some really with that groin injury. I had one nightmare game, but he was bombing taken some pretty difficult threes even got brought out there. The defensive replacement for him to play twenty minutes, twenty seven on the eleven minutes. Delhi didn't play it all content and play at all. So I mean, bike mood noser may of ask them to draft diva Gento, but he's playing him and he looked good. This maybe keeps shooting. I mean, these like difficult, three pointers and hustling. You know, that's gonna look like a pretty good pick and we'll see whether he stays in the rotation for a long time ahead of those guys or not at a few notes on the end of the game here. But anything else that you took away from the media? This one why I want to bring up with even Chen's. It's the combination of confidence shooting and just just going with it because he was two for four, but you have to respect it. If if it goes in at least a reasonable amount because it quick release when the opportunity presents this because then you have to close out on, maybe maybe you don't don't stay straight as far away from him, and then that creates more real estate for honest. I mean, you could see some of the potential industry, especially offensively with Lopez, just helping space the four. But even there was this funny play where we were trying to..

"This list ends right booker's value is complicated because similar to kyri he checks a lot of boxes of a a lot of the boxes you would have with an empty stats guy, but there's also some intangible value that's harder to gauge. Okay. So for those keeping score at home Andrews, not admitted defeat onto mar or Booker yet. Hopefully he'll come around by the end of the. Booker behind some shitty players last year. We knew currently have Ingram behind Nick Patou m- who is permanently three of nine from the floor for seven points. So please, rob, explain how we got here. I trust that you were probably on the right side of this one, but hit me. I think I might be even more pessimistic, but Ingram is actually. I may beat the bad mouth piece for this argument. I mean, I say this all on all earnestness, like I've seen plenty of him on film of seeing his numbers, obviously had a pretty productive season. What is the evidence to date? That Ingram is a net positive basketball player because I don't think we have a lot of it. I think that's tough because the Lakers in general have been dysfunctional for every month. He's been in LA. And I think numbers alone, like he's sixteen five, four cysts, forty, seven percent shooting thirty nine percent from three and he's the same age as Jason Tatum. Basically, he's six months older, like even assuming moderate progress. He's, he's gonna be really, really good next LeBron and I just don't understand. So you're basically docking him because he's had bad teammates, is that is that it? No. I mean, if anything, I think the fact that he's had that teammate because numbers look a little better than they are like, I don't think Brandon Ingram is a forest as per game kind of player. I think he's in that provisional our point guarded injured. So somebody has to handle the ball kind of mode. Know he, he's the Jeff green point forward layers in that regard. How though. That was not meant to be as a really. I think we should have probably had a chat before this podcast, Andrew pigs, Brandon Ingram over Ben Simmons two years ago, and he's just held on for dear life. And he's running this one into the ground as far as he can possibly run it. Hey, Ed you, here's an Brandon Ingram. Trivia question for you. Do you remember Andrei Ingram like that? Super League guy who came on. I'm still waiting for that to be a Disney movie in like ten years. Okay. So Andrea groom played two games for the Lakers. His career high for three pointers was for because he made four threes and one of those two games, you know, Brandon Ingram, career high for three pointers in the NBA. He's spent two seasons. You think he's going to be a top fifty player. You're ready to sacrifice your whole reputation on his his rising. Why is it so hard for both of you to wrap your mind around the concept that a young guy can improve? Okay. This shooter that he is at like nineteen and a half years old is. Not what he's going to be at twenty two or twenty one which he'll be this year. I don't understand. No, we understand. I'm just saying right now, you know, he's been in the NBA for two years. His career high four, three pointers. So you know if he's going to be this big time, huge wing, who's going to be like, fantastic. Let's make sure he's the the best Ingram on the Lakers roster before we get to far when it comes shooting. No, look, we like Ingram, but you're just early on and you and what I was trying to say what the book thing. It wasn't a harp specifically on Booker. This is just one of your blind spots. You like the young guys and we have a lot of readers who the young guys who think the young guys are going to be there twenty four twenty five year old selves when they're twenty one or twenty two. And it just usually does not work that way and Ingram also by the way, Mr. ton of time last year with injuries, you're going bang on. So you have to bang on Ingram for his injury issues to the injury, things your cop out for every night..

"A probably better shooter than either those guys coming out of school but not quite as quick as those guys i got one guy left here mikhail bridges out of villanova where do you start with them so purchases is fascinating to me because he has as a third year player playing villanova won two championships in those three seasons mike oh oh he's a late bloomer you know part of a championship team i will note at the beginning of this that villanova's offense looks substantially more competent than damn near every other college team i watched during all these all this footage but i really really like mikhail bridges he to me is i i don't see as much of the superstar upside you know kind of this i especially on the offense of end just he could certainly be more functional piece but players even though he's a little bit shorter he's six six has a seven one wingspan i think the last measurements i saw him were twenty sixteen so we might even be a little bit bigger than that but players who can compete on both ends of the floor can be capable with the ball in their hands can hit three pointers even if it's not at the ridiculous radi hit him this past year those guys are incredibly valuable in the i liked him a lot better offense than i was expecting to defensively i have some concerns about him being able to guard the other teams best wing and you know we've talked about this many times how many of those guys actually exists in fifteen twenty you know that you really comfortable there but i wanna start with some comparisons of who i think olympic is that i think he's most like in the nba defense because he he's a little thin radius at seven one wingspan which is good he can block some shots which is nice but he's probably about a buck ninety right now and it doesn't another guy who don't expect to put on wit he's going to end up being pretty thin so here's some guys that i think are kind of similar to him from a defensive perspective nick patou kinda similar i think he's better will be better than nick between who's one of moreover it'd defensive players in the nba for a long time really struggles to get down into a stance and move his feet and is the most intense guy but kind of similar build to them demari carol i would say maybe that bridges feet are not quite as quick as michael that's one of the things that i didn't care for as much about him again trevor aretha a reset to me is especially when younger is a little bit better athlete a little bridges a very solid athlete and just a little bit more intense lou quicker feet a little bit easier for him to get into the ball kelly oubre in kinda similar build uber is the seven to wingspan but i would think that bridge is a much better shot blocker in team defender than break but i don't think bridges has the feet quite to chase ones around screens necessarily the way britain has braves got a better as one to defender a little light in the shorts for the three but you know i think bridges is as well and then probably the guy i would say the closest is auto porter another guy who is a good team defender gets some steals it will get some blocks from the weak side but also is just not really someone who's has the ability to make his mark uncomfortable defensively in a one on one game and so that that is my biggest concern about bridges that doesn't mean that he shouldn't necessarily be picked right about where he's talking where they're talking about him because even having a guy who is a solid defender and can do some stuff offensively which i feel pretty good that he's going to be able to do it is a valuable player but if he's gonna be your number one one on one option on the wing i think you're going to be looking for another one and that he's going to be at best adequate in that role against guys who really have strength yeah one way of thinking about this and incidentally it's a team that could end up drafting him i was thinking about bridges on the sixers and you probably wouldn't put him on the.

"First introduction occur to come from the first couple of seasons the catch up to what he is now you're like i was even skeptical going i hate to admit this going into the nba just 'cause i'm like what is he in the nba is a big shot big heart guy yeah most sized yeah look at shabazz ray similar type of player just didn't work in like he came up in an error point guards where it's like chris paul guys were distributing a very classic point guards but the league is kind kinda caught up to him and way like he's caught up to the league because he wasn't a good shooter now he's like a plush shooter it sometimes on the floor now is the best guy on the floor and yet look at what they have a tweet howard like what are we going to get from the rest of the season week monk like i like him but and we all like himbas you can read this type of guy encountering malisse going to have like ridiculous games and then games where you're like you have this guy out of here yeah and i'm like do you think okay that's what i was gonna ask you i was gonna ask you like do you think that the change in rosser like guys like mohican guys like do i am making this happen for kemba kemba is making apple and look good i think it's a little bit of both i think dwi he's really brought of this year i said the kevin clark in the office uh former orlando resident that dwi can only thrive the only most orlando magic zan except for before the season yet because now they're mapping out he he shouldn't be getting in trouble in charlotte there's nothing i hit on drug not even germany lamb is look good like by association this is really turned into the house better i mean the fact that they're doing well without nick but tomb again they have to work nick patou back into that team yeah like the only other good player on that team last year i think it's a good sign and i think life if i'm dying on a hill is that steve clifford is the top wake music.
