"And Malcolm Nats and Carlos Ozaraki coming up. Oh my goodness, it's a number of statements from the bassinet of the 45th president. Yay! Maybe he hasn't had his bottle yet. He's a little too verbal. He's only got two words. He's a little blinky. He just woke up. He's got caps lock, but just -first one is, Make America Great Again! Alright, that's three the exclamation points and then the second one, prosecutorial misconduct! Also three exclamations. We've heard that before. Ah, and then 2024 election interference! Wow, he's really into the triple exclamation points, so it means it's super important. Okay, he went on to say, baby got his breath for a second. Ah, yeah! Okay. Oh, and then he lost caps lock until the end here. We'll have fun on the stand with all these people that say the presidential election wasn't rigged in Stalin! The trial of the century! Stalin again. Again? Again with the German pastry. The trial of the century! see, Oh, I he would like to be compared to OJ. That's nice. Okay. And then the last one would be, so they impeached me over a perfect phone call, and they don't impeach Biden for being the most corrupt president of the United States. Yes, Christopher. OJ was the trial of last century. States. Right, right, right. And also guilty. Okay. Well, there's that, yeah. But this was Stalin. Hmm? Stalin. German sweet bread. Speaking of German, huh? Brian Tyler Cohen tweets, my god, it turns out that his DeSantis campaign staffer didn't just share a video featuring DeSantis with Nazi symbols, he made it himself. Yeah. He previously praised white nationalist Nick Martinez, and he was hired to write DeSantis speeches. Have they just gone ahead and announced their official sponsor? They fired this guy. Of the DeSantis campaign? Yes. Yes. I go now to the Hitler Burger, the Hitler Burger, the Hitler Burger. I go now to the Hitler Burger to get myself my lunch. use the They free Wi -Fi at Hitler Burger to put that together. Oh, there you go. Did you watch the video on Axios? Yes. Point of order. Okay. Bill Pascrell Jr. says, look at that, inflation has collapsed since Democrats passed the Inflation Reduction Act. Remember, every single Republican in Congress voted no and voted to keep your inflation high. It is astounding to look at this graph. Yeah. Yeah. And Jennifer Rubin, as we were talking about, talking about consumer confidence at a two year high as inflation falls. Yeah. By the way, Matt Dowd said Mitt Romney would have more effect on who is the GOP nominee if he and Murkowski and others announced that if Trump is the nominee in 2024, they will become independents and caucus with Democrats in order to keep GOP maggot in line. I wish they would. He has that power. Do something, Mitt, instead of just being appalled. Yep. Yeah. And then Liam tweets during the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting, where 60 American citizens died at a country musical festival. The singer on stage at the time was Jason Aldean. Without warning the crowd, he heroically dropped his mic and ran like an MF Josh Hawley on January 6. Try that in a small town. Yeah. Thank you. No warning. He had a microphone. No warning. He just ran like a little, you know, Hmm. Okay. Uh, we mentioned this last hour, but no, it's Boo stack. Eight. I don't know what this means. We'll find out. Soto, Padres beat Atlanta 1-0 to end Braves' win streak at 8

"Nick Martinez drew 7 shutout innings leading the San Diego Padres to a one to nothing win over the Atlanta Braves. Martinez allowed just three hits combining with three San Diego relievers to blank the braves, putting it into Atlanta's 8 game winning streak. Feels good with a team like that. You can't really give them a chance to breathe and I think I feel like I did a good job keeping my foot on the pedal there. Juan Soto solo home run in the fourth inning, his fourth of the year was the only run of the game as the Padres ended their own three game losing streak. "State of Texas. Signing a 5 year deal with the Texas Rangers, ESPN reports the deals worth a 185 million over 5 years. So you know the team only one 68 games last year. Why do you see things potentially changing for them in 2023? Well, I think the big joke when they were signing bad after that was, can they pitch? And in the meantime, they spent this past off season, adding all the arms. So it wasn't just Jacob de Grom. I think adding the Y voldi was a big deal. John gray last year. Now you've got a credible starting staff. And what I'm betting on is that some of the young guys in the minor leagues that have been working to get there, they can be depth when Jake de Grom maybe has to sit, but when Jake degrom is healthy, you've got the best arm in baseball. And so I think in the meantime, they've made their pitching staff good enough to meet their lineup and be an all around good team. One more prediction from the American League, last year the Orioles won 83 games. That was their first winning season since 2016, which happens to be the last time they made the playoffs. You're picking them to break that drought and make it back to the postseason this year. So tell us why. To some people, it's not that bold to predict that Orioles to make it because they got kind of close and they were playing relevant baseball late in the season. And to other people, it is bold because they're projected to win 78 games and be a below 500 team this year. The reason I like them is if you're projecting a young player with no major league track record, what you're going to end up doing is lumping them together with all the other young players that are played before. And you're probably going to say he's not likely to be very good. But the error bars on that all skew towards being good. You know what I mean? It's not like an older player where if you're projecting them and then oh man, he's playing older than I thought. The error bars are often in the other direction. But with a young player, there is what you call upside. And so the Orioles have gunner Henderson at third base. Behind their outfield, which is pretty good right now. They've got Colton cowser knocking on the door. They have plenty of young players that already step in. Grayson Rodriguez may be the best pitching prospect in baseball, just got sent down, but he's going to be back up again soon. So they've got this impressive collection of young players that are all coming together at the same time. And so this combination of a credible major league team that they built in the meantime with all this youth, all this upside coalescing right now in Baltimore, the big thing is you never know when that's gonna gel. Is this prediction one or two years too early? Maybe. But sometimes you see a team just kind of get on the same page and graduate a lot of players and become good quickly. And I can see that happening from Baltimore this year. They were definitely a fun team to watch last year. Now, moving over to the national league, the Pittsburgh pirates have not been competitive for a while now, but they do have one of the most freakish talents in the game in their 6 foot 7 shortstop O'Neil Cruz. It's almost like an oxymoron there. For anyone who hasn't seen this guy play, can you just tell us about some of cruise's exploits in your prediction for him this year? There might not be a better athlete in the game. I think it's either him or show he or tani are the best athletes in the game. And my evidence for this is pretty simple. No one hit a ball harder than O'Neill Cruz last year. Wax it to right field. That is going to hit hard off the wall. Look at that. Bounce right back to Acuna who bare hands it off the wall. In a split second. A 122. .4 miles an hour. That is a missile. He also threw the fastest throw across the infield. At a roller cruise. Goodness. Cub fans who are watching this will think about Shawn dunstan. Yep, that was a clothesline and chavis. Wow. That was a laser. Oh, and by the way, he's in the top 5th percentile of sprinters in sprint speed as well. Boy park drives one to left field enough to bring home a run you would think with crews headed toward the plate, good throw, but he's just too fast. He's one of the fastest players in the game. He hits the ball harder than anyone, and he throws the ball hard in anyone. There is one asterisk on his ledger. He does not make contact. And so what I'm thinking is over the course of this past year, you saw some of his swing decisions improve this spring, his strikeout rate improved, and just that one little bit of improvement in the strikeout rate could bring the whole thing together and he can be the superstar that is underlying talent suggests he can be. He's projected to hit 20, 25 homers, steel 20 bags, and have a two 30 average because we're looking at strikeouts rates and saying, you know, he can't do it. I'm saying he can do it. I'm saying he's going to put it all together this year. He's going to hit at least two 80 and he's going to have a 30, 30 season. He's going to break out. When was the last 30, 30 shortstop? We're talking a rod territory. And this is a guy who looks like a rod. He's 6 foot 6 shortstop, who hits the ball super hard and runs super hard. So that's my prediction for this year that O'Neill Cruz will hit 30 homers and steal 30 bags and break out into the national consciousness. Now for number 5 on the list, we're staying in the NL but heading west. You know, you've made the bold claim that the San Diego Padres will have the best pitching rotation in baseball this season. Even though fan grafts is projecting them for just the 7th best rotation. Why are you so much higher in San Diego's outlook than some projections? Yeah, that's an interesting one. They ended last year as the 9th best starting rotation in baseball and as you said, fangraphs has them about the 7th best rotation in baseball. There's a couple things that I see that maybe they don't see in their projections. First of all, I've got a number called stuff plus and stuff plus basically looks at all of the physical properties of a pitcher's pitches. So release point movement, velocity, all that's in stuff plus. And so we've used stuff plus to make projections. And in those projections, we have park factors and aging and put in some of their normal results as well. And when I summed that up for everybody, the Padres for starters had the best ERA in baseball. And the reason I think this is true is that they've really worked hard to improve their depth. Now my model really likes you, Darvish. It really likes Joe musgrove and I really like spikes now. But in the meantime, the Padres have also added Seth Lugo. Adrian morhan has gotten healthy. Nick Martinez is a legitimate starting pitcher on that back end. They traded for a guy named Jay groom. They have a bunch of depth now that they didn't have before. So if you Darvish has to take a break, if Blake Snell has to take a break, they have quality other starting pitchers that can step in and bring that depth. So I think that's the reason. As much as the top end is the reason, the bottom of that rotation is part of why I believe in the San Diego Padres this year. Last year the Padres won 89 games and reached the NLCS after knocking out the rival Dodgers. You believe they're pitching is going to be great and we know that they have some serious bats with Manny Machado and Juan Soto plus before too long they'll be getting back Fernando Tatís Jr. from injury and a PED suspension. So taking all of that into account, how good do you expect the Padres to be in 2023? And how do they stack up against the Dodgers? I don't know if this is a bold prediction. I don't know if I'm off my rocker. But that tatis wild card is enough for me to say the Padres are gonna win the NL west. And if the Padres are gonna win the NL west, if they're gonna stave off the Dodgers, I think that makes them capable of saving off anybody else. So I've got the Padres going all the way. Yeah, I guess it is. Okay, coming up, a look at which new rules will impact the fan experience the most. An eNOS picks to reach and win. The World Series. "Rosa made this point before the game. That the intensity of this tournament almost makes you want to be invested in this. He said something like, you either perform or you get embarrassed. And I think Team USA found itself in something like that because the other teams were so good. And I think through that process, they grew to love it. I remember Nolan and Renato talking about how what he did determined in 2017 he had a lot of players come back to him and ask him what it was like. And he told them you got to do this. And I can't imagine after watching the 2023 version. I would think there's going to be a lot of players will go back to the Clubhouse. And there's going to be a lot of players who are going to say, man, that was cool. I want to do it too. And he's going to be like, you know what? You should. And that's how this trend grows. And I think more broadly, that's how the sport grows internationally. I couldn't agree with you more. And I think you agree with me on this. Yes, there is, they'll continue to be absolute discomfort among the individual major league teams with their players participation. And there will be some teams, maybe more effective than others at conveying that to players. And some players will adhere to it. I don't think it's a coincidence that through the years the Yankees have had fewer players than other teams because the expectation is, look, we got to focus. But here's the deal. The WBC is here to stay. And they're going to try to build on this going forward. There's no doubt about it. And so teams that are concerned about this upset with it would rather not have their players participate. They got to get over it because this it was too successful. Rob Manfred announced yesterday that as we talked about the top of the show, the WBC will be back in 2026. Yeah, and we spoke to him before the game, and he actually brought up something that you were alluding to there, which was how it's going to change with regard to the restrictions from these teams. And he brought up how he'd like to see more representative rosters on the pitching side and just, you know, the one thing that was kind of a buzzkill about the world baseball classic, especially in the late rounds. Is you saw the restrictions for pitchers really show up because spring training is such a critical time for these guys in terms of building up the right amount of innings to get in on schedule to be ready for the season. And there are a lot of guys I mean, you saw the Team USA Nick Martinez had to go back to Padres camp because he just wasn't getting enough inning. So Padres also showed some concern about you Darvish because prior to a one inning release appearance in the championship when a lot of people thought he was going to start. He had compelled 5 innings in the world baseball classic, a guy who they think is going to be their opening day starter. I know the royals were very interested in Brady singer taking part of this because he wanted to experience that atmosphere. He didn't get a lot of work in either. I don't know how you combat that buster. But it showed up in the late stages of this tournament. The games mean more, but the best pitchers can't pitch because they're not in line. Rob Manfred and Tony Clarke I spoke to Tony Clark earlier in the week they both agree that there's no other time of year when you could do this. So that part, the pitching pitcher usage and teams needing them to be on schedule for opening day, juggling that with trying to win, elimination games. I mean, Motorola has talked about this so much throughout the tournament. It's hard. It's just so hard to juggle that. I wish there was a way around it. I have no idea what the answer is. Yeah, I think there is a way around it. And that is, is the tournament's playing out because all these teams, you know, the ver landers and the Scherzer's are getting ready for the start of the season. I think they should just basically open up the rosters and say, look, when we get to the third week of March, let's see which pictures happen to be scheduled to work that day. And just open it up and say, we've looked around major league rosters. Guess what? Verlander's going to throw on the same day that the WBC finalists so he gets to jet in and do it. There's no reason. I mean, these guys are with these teams for such short period of time anyway. The WBC teams, why not? You know, if a Verlander is working out with the mets and he's building up his pitch count and he scheduled to pitch that day of the WBC final fly him in, even if it's his first appearance. All right, 60 seconds. I do want to touch on this. One thing that happened this week with one of the nationally contenders, the braves, thanks surprising people around the game sending von Grissom to the minor leagues assigning brayden shoemaker who was the number one pick in 2019 to the minor leagues. He's a shortstop Orlando RC is going to be their shortstop beginning of the year. This is a team that has World Series aspirations and look, I think it's going to be a work in progress in terms of replacing dansby Swanson. What'd you think? I wasn't surprised that I think it's very interesting that the braves and the Dodgers have both navigated very similar paths to such an important position passing up on all this free agent talent at shortstop going internal.

"The Team USA has an incredible lineup superstars up and down, my trout is the captain. You've got first base. I don't know if it's a platoon, both right handed, but you've got Goldschmidt and you've got Lonzo at first base, so I mean, a team is great for USA, but you know, we'll see on the pitching, you know, the top ten or 12 pitchers for Team USA did not join. It is very difficult. I know a lot of them wanted to, but, you know, teams are a little bit reluctant to let the pictures off there. Routine and ramp it up to throw their hardest at this point. Makes it difficult. So it's going to be, it's going to be a challenge for Team USA. You know, obviously you've got all sorts of other countries with some great pictures, aureus is going to pitch for Mexico. So, you know, dominicans got a good team Venezuela, obviously Japan is outstanding. It's not going to be easy for Team USA, so it should be a very, very interesting tournament. Yeah, it's hard to really get a read on how much success this tournament is having because of the kind of delays we've had. It seemed to be kind of rolling in the right direction, but it's been quite some time since we've had the last WBC, I think a lot of people are looking forward to it. It'll be spread out across really the country. You got spots in Arizona. I believe Miami, Taiwan is another spot. And so I did see a pretty scary picture yesterday. And I saw Shohei Ohtani what appeared to be trying to get some tips on the cutter from you Darvish yesterday. I know that probably had a bunch of hitters heads explode when they saw it. Yeah, I mean, that's all everybody needs for him to have to cut her too. Pretty darn good last year with what he's got with a splitter and a fastball, but I mean, that's player in the world. That's obviously the most interesting because he is a fierce and after the year. And the best player in the world and the most unique player. Soto, as you mentioned, two years to go. So those are the two biggest guys to keep an eye, but the world baseball classic should be great. They really did a great job recruiting and I get why the pictures aren't all there for the Team USA, but we still have a great great offensive team and let's give credit to the pitchers who did go and, you know, hopefully they'll perform. Yeah, Nick Martinez is one of those guys getting opportunity plays for the Padres. Pitch well in his two outings before he left, so we'll kind of get a chance to see how that goes starting next week on the 11th. Let's move to with spring training going on every year, John, there's a few guys that get off to a hot start, but there's one in particular out in for the midst that's having a pretty good spring to start to start spring training. Yeah, Ronnie Mauricio, it was kind of the forgotten guy among the prospects. Everybody's looking at Alvarez and Beatty and babies really performed well too, but Ronnie Mauricio 450 foot home run on Port St. Lucie, he's now got three home runs. So he has been huge so far for the mets. And as I said, babies been great. They still have Eduardo Escobar. I mean, imagine if they had gotten Correa two to play third base, they'd have four really good third baseman. So mets look great at third. Obviously they've got Lindor Alonso, their team looks good. It should look good if you're spending 364 million. So you're seeing another well healed expensive team out there in San Diego. What are you seeing out there, Tony? Well, I mean, we already talked about them a little bit, but one soda was hitting over 800 right now in spring training. He's doing quite well his swing looks to be back to a place where it was two years ago where he could cover the entire plate, hit the ball to all fields last year. I think I'm not sure exactly what was going on, but I did know that there were a lot more poolside baseballs that I was used to seeing from Juan Soto. And to start this spring training, he's really shot the ball all the way around. And I think if there's one guy that's going to benefit, maybe outside of Joey Gallo, although this may change after watching what I saw yesterday in terms of shifts, I think Juan Soto might be the guy that benefits the most. I mean, he is truly an all around type of hitter. And that means driving the baseball on the line, but those hard ground balls up the middle. Now aren't being shifted on or can't be shifted on in a way that they've been in the past. They're getting through. And that just means more hits for a guy who can control the zone like Juan Soto, I think it's pretty obvious with his 800 start that this rule is going to benefit. Not only him, but a lot of left handed hitters. You know, I was out there in southern plate twice. I did not see him making out. I think I was probably getting some refreshments or something when he did make one out, but he doesn't make not making many. I mean, like I said, I think he's probably the best dinner in the game and, you know, he certainly certainly as someone to watch. I think Corey Seeger supposedly another one. 47 hits by the shift last year. So yeah. That's a guy max Muncie with the Dodgers really suffered last year and we'll be back at Freddie Freeman pointed it out to me. Now Freeman is one of those guys who had said all over the place and he's wondering exactly how it will affect him, whether it be positive or negative, but you know, I don't think it's going to be negative for any of these hitters who are great like that. Like a McNeil, Jeff McNeil sprays it all around. We saw him hit several balls right down the third baseline last year. When the batting title, but I do think there'll be more offense, but right now all the talk is about the pitch clock. Yeah, about the beginning of the shift. And you know, I've been at many games where many violations have occurred at this point. They are adjusting. It is interesting. Xander bogarts, the game I was at, he was rushing to catch a plane to join his team Netherlands, and he still had a time violation. So, you know, nobody's rushing when they're in the box and he kind of laughed about it. I think anybody who was with the Red Sox is on a different pace than every other team. So I go to watch docs as a favorite to have the most violations. I don't get that. It's got to be the Red Sox and he basically agreed with me and they've had it Kenley Janssen. On the Red Sox. So that's a team to watch for. If there's any betting line on violations, I'm going with the Red Sox, but Manny Machado, I think was the first guy to have him. And I was in a different club that day and when it was O one and he said he's going to have a lot of, he's going to have a lot of O one counts this year and I remember talking to a player and he said it really doesn't matter to many Machado and one is going to be fine for him. Yeah, that at that resulted in a line drive base hit to left field. So it clearly wasn't that big of an issue for him. But you're right, that is the talk of spring training this far, no matter who you talk to or what you're talking about, the pitch clock comes up first.

I know a lot of them wanted to, but teams are a little bit reluctant to let the pitchers off their routine and ramp it up to throw their hardest at this point. Makes it difficult. So it's going to be, it's going to be a challenge for Team USA. You know, obviously you've got all sorts of other countries with some great pictures, Oreos is going to pitch for Mexico. So, you know, dominicans got a good team Venezuela, obviously Japan is outstanding. It's not going to be easy for Team USA. So it should be a very, very interesting tournament. Yeah, I mean, it's all everybody needs for him to have to cut her too. What are you doing good last year with what he's got with a splitter and a fastball, but I mean, that's player in the world. That's obviously the most interesting freedom because he is a free engine after the year. And the best player in the world and the most unique player. Soto, as you mentioned, two years to go. So those are the two biggest guys to keep an eye, but the world baseball classic should be should be great. They really did a great job recruiting and I get why the pictures aren't all there for the Team USA, but we still have a great great offensive team and let's give credit to the pitchers who did go and, you know, hopefully they'll perform. Yeah, Nick Martinez is one of those guys getting opportunity plays for the Padres pitched well in his two outings before he left. So we kind of get a chance to see how that goes starting next week on the 11th.

"Welcome to the podcast. I'm your host bob. Demarco coming up we talk to new releases from cr. Kt in kenyan Another pocket knife saves the day in a great movie. And i'm only twenty four years late reporting it and then we talk about sheep will friendly knives. These are knives you can pull out at the office in a restaurant and people most likely aren't gonna freak but i. It's my first opportunity of the show to show off some knives. I wanna do a pocket check. And i want you to comment down below. Let me know what you're carrying because that's always interesting to me. We have some very very classy listeners. We also have some very practical and robust listeners. Get knives straight across the board. Let me know what you're carrying. Today i am carrying my main front right. Pocket kerry today is the best tech malware best tech malware now earlier before The show was rolling. My daughters were checking out the knives i was gonna show and they were naming them all. Give my knives names. Funny this one. I can't remember what they called this. But i was like. No no no no. I've already named that one. And it's the space viking to me. This looks like a viking knife in space in outer space in the future. Like had some marauders travelling through space and they had pocket knives. This would be the thing designed by a set entitled todd. Todd knife and tool terro todd is l. rick. Forty two on youtube. Dave just Been knocking it out of the park over. The past few years with their designs and best tech has been knocking it out of the park with their execution and build. These gorgeous unique Knives so this is in the front right pocket and by the way i told my daughter. I said be careful with that thing because she really likes flipping it be careful with that thing because look at that acute point this thing this knife. This malware has an amazingly acute point. And i don't know if it runs in the family this trade of dropping acute points on the floor and breaking them so i just wanted to make sure before. I find that out We just sorta nipped in the bud next four show on carrying this just for show because i know later on on this day. I'm going to be seeing a good friend. That i can impress with this night so i will be carrying this much recently. Talked about protect strider. Then i got from joe. The knife whisperer With the beautiful. Gee carta handles this. Mike hard up. This one in particular is called the patriotic. A jakarta as you can tell why it also looks topographical to me. Which is cool. And it's got this beautiful mother of pearl button here. So i will be carrying this just to impress a friend That's part of what. This hobby is about right impressing people so i'll be showing them this later and carrying this now. I have not sullied the backside yet. There are no snail trails on this aluminum yet. So i'm very hesitant to just pop it in the pocket. It came with a little a little felt bag. That i'll probably carry it in isn't that precious are anti precious Okay and then thirdly I'm carrying a fixed blade today as been doing a lot. Recently the fixed blades. Rotate in and out But this is a classic. When i had this. I remember i was. I had this in my bag on nine. Eleven running around new york and i was thinking. I'm glad i have this on me. I didn't know what was happening. So i didn't know if i needed knife or not. But this is what i had on me. Cold steel culligan. Cold steel has appeared in the small version of this appeared in true detective season to rachel. Mcadams was a a knife junkie on that show and she at one point. There are planning out some plan and you can see this on the table. The shortened version. This has a four point seven five inch blade and this little handle which makes great for in the waistband carry and then look at this jinping couple couple of details on blade. I want to show off your quickly. Look at that jinping. It's really effective is odd the way it staggered you. Get these scoops out of either. Side laid their staggered. That gives it sort of a serpentine. Look and a sort of a decorative spine file work on a look but man does that group your finger. You're will. I wish cold steel would bring this back out a little. Bit eases again. Because it's really really Groupie and very nice especially on a small lated. A small handled fixed blade without guards. You really do want some jinping there. You don't have a forward guard here but this shape at the end of the handle is very allows for some Allows for your hands state where it is on a thrust This is based on the skin. Do the the scottish fixed blade knife that is often while much smaller and carried in the sock. You know when you see. Those at kilted scotsman walking around They got this in their in their sock usually. So that's it for today. I've got the best tech. Malware for todd tool i've got the youthful protects strider with the jakarta handle scales in the mother of pearl and got the classic many years old. Probably twenty two years old at this point for me Cold steel colored and got on me today. So what are you carrying please. As usual let me know in the comments below. I am interested in signing out.
