I don't think you can really appreciate just how profound the connection nick gage has with the gw audience with the fans until you actually see. Hold a death match tournament with some of the best death match guys out there. And that's what i did. And i got locked up the day before so you feel like you just feel like you're disappointing. Everybody oh yeah. Yeah yeah first. Couple days rough man. Yeah just sitting there. And i'm like damn and you know and you can like look out the window and the county game which i'm at the shittiest county again and you just see people walking the streets here like mouth. Just walk in there yesterday. You know but man you know. I never let anything. Fuck get me down man that you know once i've got my head back into gum got myself back in the game. You know just never quit. Never give up man. Yeah no i. If anybody's out there listening to this and they're going through hard times and you just feel like you're down into dumps meant anybody can come back from anything man i don't care for shoot dope and your livan homeless on the streets man. If you ever noticed know that like a pain killer creates painting your. It's all fake. Is i started working out. I started getting my lower back. You know. I mean strong and all that pain went away. All that stupid shit went away. So yeah. Of course you know seven years probably definitely did help out you know give me time to rest and lay down gun get your head back straight and shit laid that did i need seven years. Probably a couple years seven over chris. How about this. How about you know. The two two and a half years is totally blamed myself for being stupidity and doing a stupid shit. So that's my problem. A two six is the one that taught me how to work out the right way. Why are you lifting this way. Why are you eating like this. This is why you lift. And this is why you hit the muscle this way. And all that. And i'll never forget that man. Yeah finding those little muscle groups that you have to work on to get the bigger muscle stronger so you can would. I was sam. Is i was a guy who knew how to work out but basic workout. I just turned it up to ten yearning. But he taught me how to hit the muscle a different way. You y your break doing move. He did the same way with me with lifting weights. Brian homicides is the man i love. That guy that death He the way he teaches wrestling is so unbelievable. He will tell you why you're doing this move. He will break the move down. He will tell you have put it in in the hold and also tell you how to put it in for real too so the same way with lifting. You know what i mean. Why why am. I lifted this. Who are we doing this. And all that and he told me how to do all that shit man so something that that i've noticed about you especially in the last several years because you've been doing the mainstreaming of death match wrestling has men opening it up right like two different types of opponents whether it's gender whether it's a celebrity you know you know all across the board and i noticed.

So why would i try to put the swerve on so when you try to put the suara while they don't like that stuff right so they threw me a narran and i went to a parole hearing and since i have eat so since i have a violent crime they give you eighty five percent. Which means is you have do. Eighty five percent of the five years which is four years three months. And once you do that you you have another three years of parole you'll have to do afterwards so I knew that. I had the eighty five percent. If i fucked perot up on the outside that they're gonna hit me with another two years or twenty months. whatever. I call two years young. What's and hit me in our two years. And i laid in that bed and i did that all that thinking in the head and then i just popped out one day. I said fuck this man. Let's go. I hit the pile on his. They're working on. You know. Yeah i want to train and my thing is going to be this death match style or was it or was it i. I don't know i just know. I wanna wrestle. No the russell I just wanted to be a guy that could do it. All you know what i mean. It'd be a guy who can go into ring and have a regular wrestle match. We're going to ring and be do a death match right. You know shit. Like that is. I just wanted to be that guy that guy you know. Really my favorite matches our technical with style matches honest with you. I love watching that type of wrestling. You know what i mean. But i just seen it. I was very good at death match wrestling. And i just leaned in. When did you were. You always a fan of technical wrestling like growing up and everything or is that something you haul absolutely. Yeah cop stuff man. it's just loved it. Yeah know what i mean. Love bright heart. You know when. I was like in twelfth grade. I did a book report on braveheart and literally busted down everything about him and why he does this that this and all that well i mean. There are similarities right. Bret hart one of the reasons that people love him so much is. There's an authenticity to him right. You don't you. he whatever character. He's got it feels like he's living that character. You don't see a guy who's pretending to be a wrestler pretending to be anything else. But i feel like that you really wrestle different style. That's a quality that you have. I think when people see you in the ring they don't sit there and go like oh. This is a guy pretending to be tough. no. I don't think anybody says that. No no no. I don't think so. I mean i remember. I worked for jersey all pro wrestling right. Jp when you were there and you were in the hillbilly wrecking crew. And we'll go round game promos with everybody and i'd go. I wanna do promos with nick h. He scares me. I'm terrified. i'm an adult. And i'm watching. What's going on in the ring. And i'm like that seems that seems to real. I'm afraid of this guy. I'll be honest with you. I think that helped me on prison a little bit. She had to sit there and the cameras were up there and found out that i won and they give me my money. Wow yeah. And i got a real quick. Yeah i really need to be on camera right. No more atlantic city at all so so but obviously they catch up with you. You do end up going on. They didn't catch up with me at all. Sam i turn myself in. How come okay Just romantic you know. You don't wanna live with that pressure on you and i'm gonna do in my life man. These guys are good with their jobs. Man i'm not. Fbi is looking after me and you can't you can't do death matches an hide from the fbi. I can't do nothing right besides creep through move around and all that stuff eventually. They're going to get at me. Yeah and also. I thought man maybe if i turn myself in little look good in court shit like that. So that's what i did and You know shitty public defenders. "Sensing this is i. Try to go like okay. Here's what i want to. I go okay based on the reality of the situation. That's in front of me. Where would i go from here. You know i would never have finished the match like that. But i can't exist in a world where that finished in happen. So where would i go from here in the answer is charlotte and ria teaming like there is no good guy it if there is any good guy bad guy anything here. It's really being the bad guy in charlotte guy. Nothing else makes sense. And that's a terrible idea. So i feel like after the learning thing. I it almost seemed like real is embracing being pupil of charlotte's and charlotte was embracing the fact that rio was learning from her. It did make me go like okay. I can get behind that. If we figure out some way to make rea- a protege of charlotte. I mean and eventually the only place goes probably to have rea- turn on charlotte charlotte turn on relic. You can get there you know and maybe maybe head into summer slam but i would say over. The course of the next two months have ryobi charlotte's protege and have reopened sit under her learning tree that character. Only you know as we lead into summer slam to have charlotte get jealous of rea- maybe it doesn't need or lessons anymore. Maybe maybe charlotte tolls reduce something. Rea- does the opposite and is way worked and then charlotte gets jealous. Because i still think charlotte has to be the bad guy here. And then we can go into summer slam with reverses charlotte and there's an actual story that people can wrap their heads around that. I could get behind that. I like so if that's the direction it's going in then i'm okay with it if the direction they're going in is we're gonna have more rian charlotte matches where they're just both kind of wishy. So i'm not gonna complain about watching the match interesting card actually as you go down the only good guy that one was bianca bel air because technically i mean technically ria in charlotte are both bad. Guys yeah and other than that. It was it was just bianca. Belair who again talked about a tremendous match in i. That's what i thought when i heard when i was watching smackdown and people were like well. If you're gonna do. Kevin owns insane. Why not do it. In a helena cell which i get but i think for one thing. They just announced the match to a day and a half before the pay per view. I'll give you two days. I'll give you forty eight hours. Probably a little less than forty eight hours. But i give you forty eight hours. And i know that. Sammy and kevin owens have all this history of course. But i don't know i don't think you can decide to have a match two days before pay per view and it needs to be inside of a helena sell so there's that and also i think that this became about bianca having another moment bianca hasn't had a moment since wrestlemainia bianca i think is still in a position where she has to prove herself in the fact is that wrestlemainia was april and the arenas are opening up in four weeks and a lot of wrestling fans come from a world of. What have you done for me lately. So how do we make bianca bell. How do we remind people that bianca bel air special. What if she steals the show in balance out. What if she proves how great she is her. First time. In a hal. I think that was the goal of the match. I think she succeeded. In that goal. You know had been a normal match. Had this been in a match outside the cell. I would have wanted bailey to win the title because i would have wanted bianca to win it back in front of people but the fact that it was inside the cell. I think it was important. The biagui had this victory. I think it was important to have an incredible showing. And i think it's important that you know that bianca have this next kind of feather in her cap as we head into this world where bianca is going to be one of the top superstars in this new world where we're back in front of fans because she is so i think it was successful and i think he's really really good. I talked about rollins versus aro. I love what happened in. Sammy's aim versus kevin. Owens i thought the match itself like no surprise tremendous tremendous match. I loved that it was a clean finish. I loved that. Sammy's zane one with a clean finish but at the same time. Kevin owens was still hurt from the week before from the two days before but at the same time kevin owns is also the one who asked for the match so while yes there's a l- asterix next to it. Sammy zane absolutely won the match fair and square. And then you know. I don't know man alexa versus shayna is not doing it for me. At all i think shayna baszler is doing an incredible job in her role. I think alexa bliss is knocking it out of the park in her role. You know. I think alexa bliss commitment to this character deserves tremendous praise. I think. Shane obeys lers ability to step outside her comfort zone. Do some new things is not getting nearly enough credit shayna baszler and alexa. Bliss are both unbelievable performance. They're both incredible performers. But this idea that like knowing what we know maybe we don't own. No maybe it's because. I watched a lotta annex t. So the idea that alexa bliss is going to be a shayna. Baszler with kicks doesn't add up for me. You know i. I think there's still tweaks on this. That could be made right. But i don't know. I don't know of hypnotism is going to do it for me. I don't know of hypnotism is gonna do it for me. And i don't know hypnotism is going to do it for live crowds. I was a little surprised that they didn't do anything more outrageous since this is the last opportunity to do 'em pay per view in with no live audience..

"And who knows maybe maybe they realized that maybe they were like look. We're not going to have this opportunity again. What have we put the main event of this pay per view on smackdown operating and deuce up mouth of the pay per view. And they're using like three days now law so all right. Let's do it and you know. Maybe that's too cynical. Who knows if. That's why. But i found it interesting to say the least that that went down I don't think that it costs the pay per view the paper view as our whole when you watch it as a pay per view. Almost in a bubble. I don't think that it suffered not having the roman and match on that show because it had to fantastic sell matches so i think that that's okay. You know. I just think that the feeling going into the pay per view would have been different. You know i just. I don't feel the same way turning on a pay-per-view on a sunday night. When i just got the final card on friday then. I do turning on the paper view on a sunday night. When i've been waiting three weeks to see some of these matches it's a different sensation. It's a different feeling. And i that we can't step backwards and go like oh remember when it was like five months to a pay per view build and then you would finally get there and sitting there and he nine thousand nine hundred eighty two and you'd be watching. Wwe superstars and literally. They would go next week. We're gonna announce the main event of survivor series. And you're like oh my god. That was literally the main event of the tv. Show the big attraction of the weekly. Tv show was. We're going down to the main event of pay per view. And you're like what commissioner way. I'm not watching that. And like one new match get announced every week until we finally got there but at the time there were four pay per views a year. You got twelve pay per views a year now minimum. So the idea that storylines. It's tough right broad spectrum. They aren't macro stories. Well the roman reigns story is technically been going ten months but building just specific pay per view matches. You know to think that mo- stories are no story. The other than an outlier is going to go five months or more. But i think a couple of weeks is okay. I think looking for a couple of weeks before you get to a story. I think when you do a podcast on a thursday running down the pay per view and then you get to sunday. Paper used totally different. That's a wild thing but hey it worked out me. It worked out because i'm watching. I'm watching the pay per view. And i also think when i sit there and i say did this is the last pay per view in the thunderdome in and you know they don't have to worry about fans getting refunds because matches and on the show all that's true i also think it when when when i feel critical specifically what's going on on raw more so than smackdown i mean i also firmly believe that literally within the next month i mean this is talking about short term within the next month we are going to be looking at a completely different wwe. I firmly believe that as we head towards summer slam i think. Wwe going back on the road fulltime and they are going back on the road full-time and they're bringing house show business back. Which is an even bigger indication of what they wanna do. There was some in the very beginning of this. They were talking about how they weren't really alive. Ticket business anymore. They were doing other things. But i think that was just to be like hey. We're not sitting there waiting. We're running our business as usual. We're just running it differently now. Now that being alive ticketed businesses back. They're back to being in that business and they should be. I mean it's just. It's an enormous revenue stream but the fact that they have added how shows back because there was some speculation maybe. Wwe after this Pandemic just becomes a company that runs raw smackdown and x t m pay per views. And that's enough by the way that's tremendous amount on its own but they've got super shows running every weekend now and that's important to know to. They're not raw or smackdown specific. How shows there. It's like one or two house shows a week and they'll put the biggest stars that they have on. Those house shows a super shows. Raw raw matches smackdown matches the whole deal. But that's interesting because they are very much still going to be in the business of building stars that people will buy tickets for right. It's not like they'll just buy a ticket because monday night. Raw is a franchise name and when monday night raw in your town. I'm going to buy a ticket to that. It's not just enough. That smackdown has been on a roll lately and when smackdown his in your town you're going to buy tickets to you part of the whole experience when a pay per views in your town you're going to buy a ticket to be part of the whole experience. No no no no no live events coming back mean that they're also dignity consideration building stars to the point that you will buy a ticket because you wanna see a match. You wanna see bobby. Lashley vs drew mcintyre in your hometown and in order to do that people have to be super interested in these stars. I think there will be a shift in business. Because i think that there will be a metric. There there will be a metric that tells you exactly what whether you're successful or not with what you're doing.

"Sal to me good pay per view your weird weird things going on there things that make me scratch my head but to me first of all. I am so ready the same way. I love having people in studio again the same way. I love talking to people face to face. I have to believe that everybody that is on that. Wwe roster that everybody that is working behind the scenes. Everybody has got to be ready to be back on the road. Every person that i talked to when i was in orlando for takeover. Every person had this look where they know that being on the road is a grind. They know that the travel is tough but every single person was like yeah. I'm really ready to get back out there. I'm really ready to tour again. I'm really ready to do this in front of people and i would like to say rest in peace to pay per views in the thunderdome. I don't think any any shade should be thrown at the thunderdome. In fact the thunderdome should get its flowers because the thunderdome for what it was and what it is. And i guess we'll continue to be for a couple of weeks but as far as pay per views go for what it was was a huge step forward a huge advancement and something that made it possible for us to enjoy. Wwe as we've gotten to know it with all the extravagance and the interaction and the pyro in the music and the big arena feel it got us there. I think more so than anybody thought we would. When we were watching raw smackdown pay per views coming out of the performance center. You know. I think people need to go back and think about summer slam last year and seeing the thunderdome for the first time in going. Wow this is a breath of fresh air because it was when it came out. When the thunderdome i started it was a major breath of fresh air. Today i couldn't be more ready to say goodbye to pay per views in the thunderdome done with it. I'm over it. I don't i liked it. If it brought pyro bac hopefully the pyro stays. There are some promos that i would like for fans to respect enough that they go interrupt uninterrupted. You know i'd like a maybe for fans to appreciate what's in front of them a little more. So they don't take for granted their positions in the audience so much that they come to the shows and try to kind of put themselves over to use some industry jargon but all of that is like one percent all of that is so minor to the fact that money in the bank is four weeks away. And we're actually going to be able to watch. Wwe pay per view the way it's meant to be watched in an arena full of people so thank god the thunderdome existed and thank god that we're done with the thunderdome all things together. As far as the pay per view itself went. Look a couple of things. I think watching this show. It is more evident than ever the raw and smackdown are two completely separate universes. And i think that you saw that i think would have been even more apparent. Had there been a roman reigns match on this pay per view. It usually is but i think watching this pay per view. It was like manna from our retina. Rose from mars. Smackdown is from venus or vice versa. I don't know which one's better or worse. But i was like. I was watching two different promotions put on pay per views and quite frankly i thought one was better than the other all that said. It was also very evident to me that this has nothing to do with the people in the ring right because if you go through these matches the most all but one were like fantastic matches. Some of them had questionable finish is but as far as the performances in the ring went one two three four five five out of six were unbelievable and two of those matches wurley announced two days ago and the cell match. The cell. stipulation was only added. Two days ago. There was no build up for this now. I was thinking about that before. We breaking down the matches. It was like okay. So why do you suppose that at the very last minute. The roman reigns ramos. Cheerio helena sal. Match was added to smackdown and taken off the pay per view entirely. I figured that on smackdown we get some kind of justification for their some kind of at least storyline reason as to why that would happen but there was not and even at the pay per view. Tonight i mean it was highlighted. They highlighted the fact that this happened on smackdown. But that's it you know it wasn't it wasn't like and here's why i would have liked the tweets. Were kind of the reason. I would've liked for there to be a story. Element is to why this had to happen on friday instead of sunday. Like some kind of something but it really feels like look. Wwe's taking advantage of the fact that this is the last pay per view that they're not worried about pay per view buys and they're not worried about people paying tickets to see matches. You know there's been a very unique time that that there is no fear of people not getting their money's worth when they paid for a ticket to.
