"Game. At Oklahoma City on Wednesday, they'll be underdogs in that game if only because it's a road back to back, but if shade has in play, that's the game this team should win still. Home against Minnesota, I think the Lakers will be favored in that game the way the wolves are playing right now. on them with John Krasinski. Home against the warriors if Steph's out will let alone Wiggins who's out with personal issue, their favorite in that game, home against Memphis, that's winnable, home against Toronto on two days rest, home against the Knicks. Those are winnable games as well as the nix are playing, then it's at New Orleans at Houston. I mean, then the schedule gets easier from there. You can understand why people will look at this team and be like, well, who are they actually scared of in the west? You know, and there's obviously there's a lot of skepticism about Denver at the highest levels of the media. I happen to disagree with that, but I do think if they're healthy, this team at the very least is going to bring a very good defense and LeBron James and Anthony Davis to the table every night. What that adds up to, I don't know, but I think it's now officially a tough out that people will not be happy to play in the postseason if they get there. And listen, if they get there, we are talking about a team that now has been playing good basketball for a month and a half straight and as LeBron who hasn't been in the playoffs in a couple of years and relishing that moment and as potential roster ramifications down the line if there aren't there isn't a strong performance. And for someone like Anthony Davis, who I spoke to last year at the end of the year when they didn't make the play in and expressed in no uncertain terms, how much he wanted to stay a part of the Lakers franchise and hope that they don't do anything drastic in the off season in terms of looking for moves for him. There's all those motivating factors here. Plus the new guys, this is an extended audition for them to determine whether the Lakers will ultimately say, you know, part of this deal was to get off of Russ and change the energy for the rest of the season. But if we lose in the first round, well what happened the last time they lost in the first round to the suns? They blew up the roster and traded for Russ. And so if the standard is championship for this team, well then if they just lose in the first round with this new group, then they've cut it already said that maybe we'll let everybody come off the books and go the free agency route to make this team better for next year. So all those motivating factors stacking upon one another. But to me, the biggest thing is if they get there, that means they've been playing good basketball for extended period of time. And normally the teams I've covered that have LeBron James featured on them that are playing good basketball for extended period of time going into the playoffs. What do they do? They go to the NBA freaking finals. They are 15 and 11 in their last 26 games, which doesn't seem like much, but it's fine considering the injuries in the ups and downs they've had. Age and health though, I mean, that's the Phoenix series, you know, Chris Paul was hurt. The sons people always remind you, Chris Paul is art, and he's playing with one arm, that's fair, but AD got hurt in that series. AD gets hurts a lot, gets hurt a lot. Some teams are just more susceptible than others to the injury bug and I think this is one, they've got some questions to answer sort of about what this team looks and feels like on both ends of the floor and if they have enough two way guys, but they're pretty solid. And that makes for a fun stretch run for us and for you, Dave McMahon I mean, you don't have to like, now you don't have to do the friedel where you just change beats after one day after your team is gone suddenly. That is absolutely something to monitor, but prior to all that happening game three nick in this series, and in these playoffs, the Miami Heat have been surprisingly impressive as a five seed. They're currently ten and two in the playoffs, and with this two to one lead, they still have over the Celtics. Their hands are still on the steering wheel and the one guy steering all of it. The one guy at the center of these comebacks gave them that lead is Jimmy Butler. So. When we look at Butler's clutch moments so far. Which one stick out to you. WHO As far as Jimmy in this series. Those first few shots. Down, the stretch in game one. Everybody's focused on Bam's block and it really is one of the best there's ever been. Sky. With the block and rejection. That is a ridiculous defensive play. Aside. From that, you're watching. Pablo. Early in those games especially in the first one, they're just throwing body after body after body. Jimmy. And in the fourth quarter, he's making tough shot after tough shot. Shot Praise God Jimmy Butler giving Miami the lead with twenty two seconds to go. Butler against Tatum drives them Deep Pang. Shot up and then and one Jimmy Puckett's delivering again, twelve seconds to go over time you start seeing steals and gave to your like there's no way in the world that he would have won that game without him poked away by Jimmy Butler all the way down the other end Butler leaves it and crowder puts it in Jimmy Butler in the last four minutes delivering for the heat. Wait wait what it's the warriors it's the warriors and the reality was even with a healthy dream on Steph. They were really we bad in for so many people for the last five years or so. who had watts his team dominate for so long there was a reality in the moment Omen that hey. This is not the same team that we've been watching the coaches and some of the staff members as people were were warm-up takes over the summer that they were just like what what what are people saying. I think they understood that there was going to be a lot of growing pains this year. And now all those pains have come to the forefront really really so during the off season you feel. There was a gap between the public perception of this team. The belief that they would still contend and the internal perception no question it was always for the warriors a gap year from the moment when go back to the finals. ACL Well when you look at the way the roster was being constructed with nine guys who were twenty three years old or younger and you looked at the fact that they were hard capped apt and then they added de Ngelo Russell and you saw the pieces that were in play so many people on the outside went. If clay doesn't get hurt maybe you keep big dollar. You don't hard cap yourself yourself this season you come into the new building with both healthy splash. Brothers and Draymond. When Klay got hurt that changed the way this season was going to be viewed? What expectations like first steph curry coming into this season Steph heard the chatter? Uh He always says that he doesn't pay attention to the outside sources me but that's ridiculous I mean he's he's a human being. He knows what's being said. He knew that everybody thought that this is going to be another. Mvp Year for him. He wanted to win the award. But I think Steph knew all along you take clay off the floor. And he's now the focal point with Steph. He knew as much as Kevin. I think drove people crazy easy sometimes within the organization. Nobody doubted just how phenomenal a player. He was Steph walking into this year. Hearing that everybody's saying it all this is your time to shine again. You're the MVP. I think he knew in the back of his mind all along. This is going to be very tough. I don't think the reality of Steph winning winning the award ever matched up to the expectations. They had to begin with. That's interesting to hear because you're right there was a perception or even a hope that we would get that full courier right because with K. D.. They've had to split some of the credit as well as the time during the regular season. And the idea of Steph unleashed. I was really intriguing to people. It was GONNA be awesome but people and this is going to be a recurring theme. When talking about the words they were living in the past people kept saying? Oh we'll steph. Is is incredible and he can do whatever he wants. He's one of the the very best players in the league. He's the best shooter I've ever seen in my life but when you're getting getting two and three bodies thrown at you at every play you're not gonNA play the same way next. This is is not a good basketball team. I feel comfortable saying with Steph out for a few months. Do you feel like the team should consider I am reluctant to use the word. But I'm going to say it. They just could not believe that all these different injuries came down really at the at the same time. In the last six seven games they had played eight. I walked up to Joe Lake. I'm really sad about it but I'm an optimist and I think that this team now has a chance to see what these younger younger guys can do. And I think we'll come out of this okay and I said Joe You understand that once. This injury happened a lot of people around the League are GonNA ask about taking. How do you and media? He cut me off and he said what you say and I said Joe You understand understand that people are going to start asking about taking how do you he said what were to choose. And I said tanking in mean it was really clear earlier. He was trying to send a message to anybody around in the moment and anybody wondering what the warriors are going to do moving forward if they're going to take the answer was resounding no he just doesn't believe in it in this is a proud guy who just opened a billion and a half dollar Rena that a lot of people are invested into for a lot of two years but all that being said as much as I respect the attitude the reality for where the warriors are at is that's just packaging ACA Djing. We're not gonNA take look at the roster the roster isn't good this is not a team full of NBA caliber players. Frankly frankly so the takeaway for me is. This is one of the biggest blessing in disguise that this could be for the warriors
