"Good morning. Welcome to forty niners in five your daily update on everything happening with the team that you need to know. i'm rob stats guerrero. Today is friday. September tenth. Twenty twenty one. Here's what's happening with your san francisco. Forty niners the niners had their last real practice before. Sunday's opener against detroit. So let me give you. The rundown jalen hurd and emmanuel moseley did not participate both with knee injuries. Kevin gibbons von kimmel and trae lance were limited brandon. Aaron banks nick bosa d ford dray greenlaw and jason variet- all were full participants in practice and that is music to my ears. All things considered the forty niners are in pretty good shape healthwise going into the season. And that's something that offensive coordinator. Mike mcdaniel brought up on thursday. Oh for sure no. it's It's a credit to our medical staff our organization credit to the players Because we have been training hard But have we've tried to learn from any any mistakes we've had in the past. There's a lot of science involved. That ben peterson leads. All the state of the throws at us on bar graphs that we try to absorb but we we take that serious and do our best. Because you can't control injuries Full till but you can be smart about things and it has really helped us Going into the season having everyone worked together you know. A lot has been made of how many injuries the forty niners have had. And what are they doing to adjust interesting. Little nugget there for mcdaniel. It sounds like they're doing everything they can. And hopefully this year so far it seems to be paying off. Now i mentioned lance was limited. Mcdaniel also was asked about that. So mike how did lance look to you. He's still limited he. He looked good. But we're were very hesitant to get ahead of ourselves. Because like i said you don't you're one snap away you just have to let the week progress and see how it plays out He looked good throwing the ball. Today and Moving around but you know we're what does that mean for sunday. We'll we still have a practice to go before that. And hopefully there's no setbacks and then we'll will move from there the encouraging thing about lance was. He was always still in practice. He began throwing on wednesday. He was throwing again yesterday. That's trending in in the right direction to at least be active on sunday. Who knows how much we'll see him. But i gotta be honest. I've seen too much innate seinfeld and whoever the forty niners third string quarterback is already. Can i just see a starter out there and a backup that stays on the sidelines. Like i would take that in a heartbeat. I know one thing. It is nice to be able to go into a game with nick. Bosa on the damn field again. I know d. ford said he was going to be a pitch count but for bosa no such restrictions. No pitch count for me. I'm just gonna go Whatever chris tells me. I'm fully confident to play as many steps as a need to. I have no doubt that nick bosa would play every snap in the game if he could. But i can't see the forty niners just giving him a regular workload right off the bat. He hasn't played in a game. Since i think september twentieth of twenty twenty. Like they're gonna ease him in. The great thing is the forty niners. Defensive line is so deep they could restrict bosa snaps and still have him on the field for all the crucial plays third-down red zone must pass situations. That's the benefit of being as deep is the forty niners are on the defensive line. You always get one thing to read one thing to watch and one thing. You might have missed on this. Show something to read on this friday. If you wanna learn more about the players in this organization that are not named lance or bosa. Go read celia palermo's profile of alex barrett in his journey to the nfl. It's a really good example of just how hard the guys in this league have to work. Even the guys that are on the practice squad like barrette just to make it in the nfl. One thing to watch other than the actual real football game on sunday. How about the interview. That matt maiocco. And laura britt did with defensive line coach chris ca- on their podcast forty niner stock. You know caserio is gets talked about like a crazy person because he's screaming and swearing all the time at practice. It was kind of nice to see him. Just sit and speak like a normal human being one thing. You might have missed. I know one thing i miss. And it's george. Biddle specifically george hill press conferences and george summed up the state at a team. Pretty nicely on thursday. I think we're very confident. I think we had a really good camp. i think guys Generally stayed very healthy throughout training camps. We were able to keep Starters on the field competed against starters. And i think that's really good for us because you look at our defense just getting to compete against them. I think has made the offense confident At our defenses confident because some cocky. ms I love that out of them And our expectations go in detroit. Hell yeah george. Go gated done. That is a wrap on. Today's forty.

"September third twenty twenty one. Here's what's happening with your san francisco. Forty niners it was relatively quiet day on the field for the niners yesterday but there were some interesting things that took place off of it. Mainly kyle shanahan's morning interview with k. Mbr he covered a bunch of different topics. But i actually want to start with the defense for a change. Because we haven't seen a ton of nick bosa yet this year but kyle did say something. That should put a big smile on your face. Come week one. I'm expecting to see a lot of them. I mean he's he's been on a plan this whole way You know coming back from his big injury and being ahead of schedule since the beginning and he's been he's got two weeks of practice in where he's been on here pretty hard We didn't let him go in the preseason game Which wasn't too tough a decision. You know his first year of playing any preseason game either. And i thought he did pretty good as a rookie So the main thing was getting them healthy. And you know nick. As prepared as any player i've ever been around On and off the field so Hopefully we'll stay on course here and He'll be nick. Bosa can wink one. Now that on its own would be fantastic. News given how good bosa is. And how awful. Jared goff is when he's under pressure but kyle also talked about d. ford's return and why maybe it's time to start buying into the positive reports about his health. These are all off season. He did a ton of the right things and we weren't sure until we got the training camp but we brought him on slowly but he's been consistent with it and he's been out there each day. He's gotten a lot more in camp this year than he did last year. And he's a great in practice so Our hope that we were going with now as more reality because the way he looks out on the field it looks like the ford and he didn't look that way last year and camp at this time. I'm kinda was just trying to tough it out. Where now he looks fresh. She looks good. He's feeling good And hopefully he'll be able to carry that throughout the season but as of right now It's just a lot more than hope goes. We're seeing with their own us. My definitely like here in that. Because i've been skeptical about de ford as anybody and a healthy nick. Bosa and deformed changes the entire season for this team. Those two guys elevate this roster from a fringe playoff team to a super bowl contender in my eyes and it's not just what day themselves can do. It's also what they allow the rest of the defense to do. If you've got bosa and ford getting all the attention on the edge. Eric armstead and javan. Kimba are going to get opportunities for saks because they aren't going to face many double teams in the middle of the defensive line. Don't forget when bosa was healthy in twenty nineteen eric armstead was actually the team leader in sacks because he benefited from all the offenses double teaming. Nick bosa i know all the focus has been on land and i get that. I'm as excited to see trae lance full time as anybody but this defense is going to be so much fun to watch. I think they are absolutely going to smother people. We always give you something to read something to watch. And something you might have. Missed something to read on this friday speaking of lance if you are missing seeing him on the field because of this finger injury check out the article that rich madrid has on niners nation dot com now. It is all about what the offense could look like when lance gets back out there. I swear i'm drooling over this summing the watch with the forty niners off today a holiday weekend coming up. Thank you labor day. Keep an eye on the cova. Nineteen lists coming back next week. Guys might be tempted to go out. Have a good time which we know can lead to problems when everybody reconvenes and they get back together for football kyle shanahan also aware of this. He gave a little speech to the team that he mentioned on k. Mbr this is the week before the season. This isn't a bye week I don't expect guys going out of town. I expect guy staying here. Expect guys aachen getting ready to come to practice on monday. 'cause no matter what your intentions are you just gotta be around one one person that's wrong and that sets you out for ten days and if you bring that in here and you get anybody in here Then they can really hurt our team if we have more than one guy missing. So it's a challenge for everybody. You see guys getting in this in this world all the time So it's not trying to shave him anybody if they if they do get it but you gotta do everything. You can't avoid that 'cause it is a real deal and it's definitely something that can hurt our team. A lot and one game can affect your whole season. The niners did a good job last year when they were exiled to arizona. Kind of self quarantining. So we'll see if they can keep that up this year. Something you may have missed. This is not a hidden gem by any means. But i just imagined. There aren't too many of you out there. Listening to press conferences of offensive lineman. So i wanted to throw this in for you. This is daniel brun skill talking about whether it's tough on the offensive lineman to rotate. Qb's in and out of the lineup. We can run our offense through both of them. Jimmy's trace plays before trade. You know he can run our normal often so it's really not you know i mean they're just plays we can run any in anybody at any time so it's it's not too much of that But it just it just changed the game and i think it's more for defenses. They gotta look at it as this guy's coming in they have to change their mindset For us you know we're gonna run our normal offense those plays in our offense so you're ready for whatever place called trae can run the whole offense I'm not going to get into the whole thing right now. But that's encouraging to hear and hopefully he'll get the chance to do that sooner rather than later. That's going to do it for today. Stats and eggs. In fact that's going to do it for stats in eggs in general because starting on monday we are rebranding this show. We're going to have a new name going to switch up a couple of different things. We're still going to give you everything you need to know in five minutes which is gonna fresh in it up a little bit it was time to retire. Stats and eggs..

"Bosa coming back if you can get pressure on the quarterback and he helps out get more pressure on the quarterback. That might not matter all too much. Oh i just can't wait to see if like george kato's been talking him up every single week like i think people forget how good he was. He had something like ninety pressures as a rookie. Which was just incredible. And i think that there's a chance that that's the worst version of nick. Bow so that we see he could. He could be even better this year. He's got like three percent body fat or some insane number. Like that i would. I just wanna see. Give me something to watch in this. Preseason let me see. Nick bosa damn it. Yeah i think he has a chance to lead the to lead the league in sacks in all right after tj wa and aaron. donald like. I would like to see him. Be that next guy up maybe after myles garrett like that's that's a little a high ceiling to try to beat there. I do think he should be a top five guy in this league in sacks and oppressors and if you can do that that will help this whole defense be better Be able to cover the wide receivers. Because they won't have to do it as long. And i think that's necessary for this team to get to the playoffs. I said for the forty niners to be a legitimate playoff contender or get deep into the playoffs. Nick bo said doesn't just have to be good. He has to be a superstar. Like one of the best defenders in the league. And i do think that is an option this year. Like as long as he's healthy he should take that next step for it. I'm looking right now. The draft king odds for defensive player of the year. Nick bosa is plus sixteen hundred. That's a really good number. Like i might be willing to plunk down one hundred bucks on nick. Posted a win defensive player of the year Aaron donald at plus five hundred miles garrett's at plus five hundred t. J. watt is plus. Eight hundred mining boasts has got just as good a chance as any of those guys. They're just going to give it to aaron donald anyways. I'm jay. Why last year and the fact that he did not win is the most ridiculous thing ever so yeah good luck. I mean they're tj should've one hundred percent on the defensive player of the year last year. Aaron donald just pretty much has to stand out there and he's going to win it so i don't know if it's worth even risking with nick both but those are those are amazing. It's comeback player of the year. Bosa might not. Well you know a deck prescott plus two ten and by way Seasoning it. Yeah i agree if already call that. I agree as long as he doesn't fall flat on his face by the way plus to ten. If you don't know that means you bet one hundred dollars and you win two hundred ten dollars. So that's how that works. Both is plus one thousand to be comeback player of the year. Not ban now but i do think he is a i. Guess if he wins defensive player of the year how do you not give him comeback player of the year as well but You know if he wins one award they might just give it to quarterback when those awards. It's gonna be hard for anybody especially because people like dak especially the media likes tax. That's a huge part of this. The whole narrative both people seem to like both but not like deck deck is east dallas. Cowboys quarterback is the chosen one. So i don't know. I i might have to plunk down money. Mondo somewhere though. He's too good to damn good not to put money on. I like the sixteen hundred. I think i think that's where i'm going to go. I like those odds. I like those odds a lot. I'm fine with that. And i'm just kidding about your donald. I know how amazing isn't he. He also deserved to win. I've just very bitter about my boy. Tj what and you know. Aaron donald has won enough awards. It was teetering. Watch turn and All right let's get to the new pboc of.

Good morning i'm rob stats guerrero. Today is wednesday. august eighteenth. Twenty twenty one. Here's what's happening with your san francisco. Forty niners tuesday was relatively quiet day in forty niners world. But there were a few things you should know about. I when it comes to the quarterback competition things remained mostly the same trae lance. Look better at the start of practice. What jimmy garoppolo. Looking better towards the end of practice both guys threw interception yesterday with fred warner picking off jimmy garoppolo for the fourth time in training camp speaking of quarterbacks. Josh rosen was cut after a terrible performance saturday night. This did not come as a surprise. Anyone that's been watching the forty niners in training camp or frankly anyone that scene. josh rosen. Play since two thousand eighteen. He ranks last in completion percentage yards per attempt and passer rating. Among the forty two quarterbacks that have thrown at least five hundred passes in that time the forty niners made good use of the roster spot however claiming cornerback devante harris off of waivers. He was a fifth round. Pick in two thousand. And he's played thirty games in a career spent when cincinnati denver and baltimore in terms of injuries. The following players did not practice. Yesterday trent williams. He's got a knee. Devan kin law as a banged up shoulder. Sean coleman and aaron banks hurt themselves in the game against the chiefs. it's a knee for coleman and a shoulder for banks elisha. mitchell still. has the abductor injury. Jalen hurd who knows at this point. He didn't practice and emmanuel moseley has a hamstring injury that could be dicey if it lingers which those things tend to do finally according to matt barrels of the athletic nick bosa has decided to get vaccinated and he in fact has been vaccinated remember last month. He said he was evaluating whether or not to get the shot a general manager. John lynch recently said on the tim. Kawakami's show podcast that before manners down to just four players who have not been vaccinated and remember you have to sit out at least ten days if you test positive for cova and you haven't been vaccinated. That could potentially be two games worth of absences depending on when in the week it false we always give you something to read something to watch and something you might have missed something to read on this wednesday niners nations own jordan elliott has been attending training camp and he has a huge list of all his observations that he is made and he has spared the quarterback from this list. So if you've got quarterback fatigue. You don't wanna hear about jimmy garoppolo in trae lance anymore checkout jordan elliott's list it's all non quarterback offensive observations from camp and there's one group in particular that he is really concerned about something to watch the forty niners traveled to costa mesa and chargers training camp after practice. Yesterday they'll have a date arrest before to joint practices with justin herbert and company. Those are on thursday. And friday and remember the bite we played from kyle shanahan yesterday where he said joint practices mean more to him than the games. Because you can put the players in any situation you want whereas in a game you're kind of dependent upon what happens out there on the field so keep an eye. On how many snaps trae lands gets what the situations are and if he's in there with the ones at all something you may have missed giants owner. John maher is a member of the infamous. Nfl competition committee and he explained yesterday. Why the league is cracking down on taunting this year. That's something we discuss. Every year in.

"Here's what's happening with your san francisco. Forty niners more members of the niners met the media yesterday including trae lance nick bosa and both coordinators. But don't worry we have listened to all of the press conferences combed through them and picked out the best cuts for you. I up trae lance a couple of different things. He said it's stood out to me. He seems to have a really good handle on how to handle his relationship. Which jimmy garoppolo. There's no awkwardness at all We're good friends. We've got to spend a lot more time together now. Indefinite looking forward to continuing learning. You know as much as i can from him He's he's one of the like i said early. The best people that i've ever been around on and off the field So just super excited to continue to learn this year. As much as i can. From whether it's what jimmy said on wednesday or what trae said yesterday it seems like those two guys are going to be cool with each other no matter how much it might seem like they should be enemies which is a good thing. If you're a forty niner fan because you want them on the same page the second thing he said was kinda surprising. Because i didn't think the question was super interesting. But the answer definitely was. He was asked a question about whether he'll move into a new place now that he has signed his contract and is officially a millionaire. Listen to the line. He says at the end of this answer there. I am comfortable Just found a place around. I feel comfortable in a place that feels like home. A little bit So for me. I spend my time here so it's really just a place to sleep. Home is basically just a place to sleep in. That might sound like a throwaway line. But i don't think it is an. I love hearing that from my rookie quarterback right when the entire future of this franchise is on the guy's shoulders. I mean. think about what happens if he doesn't work out. If trae lance doesn't work out and isn't a quarterback of the future. Kyle shanahan's getting fired. John lynch is getting fired. Lands is going to be out. Garoppolo is going to be long gone by then that square one for the forty niners all of that is on the shoulders of trae lance and this is exactly how i want him to be thinking. Home is just a place to sleep. When i'm not at the team facility again. We have a long way to go with trae lance. We don't know what he's going to be how he's gonna play on the field but so far every time something comes up. He checks the box next to it. And that's all you can ask for next on. The podium was nick bosa he also said a couple of interesting things i he said. He's evaluating whether or not to get the vaccine. He hasn't decided one way or another. Hopefully he gets it so we don't have to worry about him getting cove it missing games. But here's the second thing he said. He was very honest about his recovery from the knee. Injury the acl and he kind of laid it out there pretty plainly. I'm really happy with her. Met coming out here. Actually even more happy than i thought like. I was still dealing with some stuff but since i've been out here it's responded amazing and We're going to take it slow. But i'm very encouraged Them moving better than ever have right now for sure. I don't know what it was yesterday. But again he threw in a really good line at the end there. He's moving better than he ever has. He won defensive rookie of the year in twenty nineteen. So i'd say he moves pretty damn well then if he's even better now. It's possible not probable. We don't know but it's possible. That the nick bosa we saw in twenty nineteen was the worst nick. Bosa ever going to see. He could be even better this year than what. We saw his rookie season. Which would be incredible. He could be maybe the best pass rusher in the entire league. We always give you something to read something to watch and something. You might have missed something to read on this friday. Mike sando of the athletic does this column every year where he talks to scouts and general managers and coordinators and a bunch of people around the league and he gets quarterback ratings for every quarterback every starter. I should say and this year's is out already. And of course i immediately go check out where he has jimmy garoppolo. Let's just say you don't need to worry about the first half of the lists go check it out for yourself. There's some interesting insights there Just going to say for all the jimmy stands out there. It's not just me that hates on this guy. That's all say something to watch the forty niners going to work out. Cornerback dre kirkpatrick later. Today he visited with the saints and the patriots earlier this off season but obviously didn't reach a deal. He should be familiar to you as he played fourteen games with the cardinals last year. So maybe the niners. Ads of their cornerback. Death keep an eye on that something. You might have missed. I got a kick out of this tweet for matt barrows. It's classic training camp. But i still liked it quote magic happen today. Forty niners practice. Nate sud failed. Threw a pass to wide receiver austin watkins. That was broken. Up by safety. Jared maiden all three where number seven strangely kyle shanahan did not stop practice. I don't know why i liked it. I just got a kick out of it. And i hope you did too. That's going to do it for today's stats and eggs. If you like what you hear please subscribe to the niners nation podcast network drop off a rating and review as well. Keep an eye out later today for the stats and mags podcast. With me and michelle maggio of nfl network. Enjoy your friday. Everybody i'm rob stats. Guerrero go niners support for.

Super Bowl LV: How Tom Bradys Bucs Upset The Chiefs

"Bill. It is eleven twenty nine pm eastern and we made it. We have arrived at our final late sunday night session of the nfl season. I think you're showing the appropriate level of enthusiasm. Just watch ill. Barnwell has been our. Nfl oracle through low. These many football weeks you can catch wisdom on the bill. Barnwell show podcast and his monday column on. Espn plus bill. I know i'm washed. I knew that coming in. But tonight i also discovered that i'm like had to close my eyes because the weekend halftime show is making me wash so on top of these horrific super bowl. We ended up getting an. I'm also just the opposite of tom brady. In every sort of genetic sense it turns out. There were so many songs i've heard in uber's or biggest when i was like. Oh that's who does that song. That sucks i. i'm. I'm okay with that songs now. I really learned a lot during the halftime show. Not sure i learned so much during the actual game l. If i mean it just in thinking about what are most notable takeaway or the the moment remember from the super bowl will be years from now it comes down to maybe mccall hardman lining up full yard offsides on a field goal. Try tony romo. Getting very excited about a streaker. In the fourth quarter of lot where he was trying to will the game to be competitive was a a complete and utter dominant victory by the buccaneers and was an upset but the thoroughness of the whole thing and the repetitive nature. What happened from series and series for possession possession. Really just sort of by the end of the game. Everyone knew what the story was because it was really office so it did feel a times bill like we were getting. Tom brady playing his hits. But before we pay our respects at the altar of brady and all of his non washington is. I want to ask how exactly kansas city. Patrick mahomes looked this helpless. Because that's what was shocking to me too twenty seventeen before mahomes was a starter in the league to find a game where the chiefs had been. Shut out of the end zone entirely before tonight. So how did the buccaneers. How defensive coordinator. Todd bowles stopped. One of the most unstoppable offenses. We ever seen it. Was you know sort of a game. Plan out of the nineteen sixties. Winning at the line of scrimmage and dominating upfront and you know. I don't want to exaggerate. Wanted to subscribe to recency bias. But i have to admit i'm not sure i've ever seen an offensive line. Get beaten badly over the course of an entire game as the chiefs were by the buccaneers on sunday. Night me last year in the super bowl we saw nick bosa and the forty niners really dominate the chiefs from most of the first three quarters were on pace to win that game but fourth quarter. Nick bosa got tired. And patrick mahomes turn things around very quickly. The chiefs launched forward scored a bunch of touchdowns and won the super bowl. And this time around. We were sort of waiting for that moment right and it never happens. The buccaneers pressure mahomes on virtually every single meaningful past play. This game often

New York Giants Confirm Saquon Barkley Tore ACL, Out For The Season

"There are terrible injuries all over the NFL yesterday alone. Nick. Bosa. From the niners Saquon Barkley from the giants both suffered torn ACL statistics show that through two weeks nfl record twice as many significant injuries as last year. It's actually at least six players suffered a torn acl including just recently Seattle Seahawks linebacker Bruce Irvin Eleven, injuries to starters in the one o'clock games alone John Do you think these injuries have something to do with the fact that there were no preseason games. Well. For example, the Rams don't play any of their starters in preseason games I think is in the spirit of your question i. think it has something to do with no camp no real camp they kind of shotgun training camp and I don't know how you could make the opposite argument that it has nothing to do with it. I wouldn't tied to preseason games what I would do it to the fact that there was very little tackling. Yes in. The game started and the other thing is I know Kyle Shanahan the niners felt like the field wasn't ready like the field I think he played in the meadowlands and he's got play there again next week because he played the jets and now he's GonNa, play the giants. Players on both teams going down. So I don't necessarily think that the facilities were one hundred percent prepared either I think again, I think the spirit of your question is the fact that they fast tracked everything and started the season. Because of Covid is that having any do with the injuries I don't know how you could say it doesn't I think it has to yeah. I mean I I completely agree I mean between training camp and preseason games where guys at least get a sense for what they get a reminder of what getting hit is like. I think they're I think they would be better off. It is an extraordinary number of injuries and none worse than Christian McCaffrey who's gone for four to six weeks and his the stalwart of my fantasy team just loyal to John Ireland how about? Yeah. I cleaned your clock thinking Matt Ryan. But. How about how about Saquon out for the year? Yeah. Entirely out for the year Bosa gone for the with a tornado. And that means that the giants I. He would be done for the season broncos quarterback drew lock shoulder injury cam acres of the rams rib injury packers, Davante Adams Hamstring Christian McCaffrey with left with an ankle. NFC West: Who will unseat the 49ers?

"So glad to be joined by Candace Silva of the rams wire as we go around the NFC west try to figure out who's going to unseat the forty Niners if they can be unseeded at the top of the division cam covers the the rams the rams who apparently are the hot bat right now to win the Superbowl at thirty to one what the hell's going on their camp yeah apparently they were the most popular Super Bowl bet of the last I think there's some were the bachelor come in anywhere on the rams won the Superbowl which is surprising because they've done nothing in the past okay two months to really bolster their claim as a Super Bowl contender in it's been a rough offseason for them so they got a bounce back in to see them as a Super Bowl favorite or not people will favor but to see so many people jumping on the bandwagon for them to win the Superbowl surprising I mean obviously they were just in the Super Bowl now might about a decade ago by our current time frame standards but it was two seasons ago and they still have the same quarterback they still have the same head coach where has it gone wrong we know what happened last year it in fact but if if people are buying in why would you say don't hi this is biggest issue right now I was really surprised that they essentially ignored the the office of identity try to remake it or bring in much talent really on the opposite line this offseason they refinance or what works best it brought back Austin blight who could play guard and center I'm so really they're sticking with the same group that they had last year there's a lot of competition really the only position that sat on the opposite wanted at left tackle with what danger what work right but the other four spots where they're gonna be competitions with Bobby Evans and rob Stein at right tackle Austin Blake and Bryan Alexander in the guard position is kind of just a mishmash of players who are relatively unproven at the NFL level so I would say that's the biggest issue switching Todd Gurley out for can makers they hope is going to be an upgrade at least hopefully in the in the explosiveness department because we do the regular Todd Gurley last season and he kind of seems like he's past his prime with the old me injury in right usage so they hope that with the improved often combined with these guys developing the younger guys and then a a better run game they're going to hopefully get back to their roots from the twenty seventeen twenty seventeen to twenty eighteen season that also supplying plan doesn't seem like a very good one considering that they're in a division with the forty Niners who I don't think I'm being a Homer here by saying that they have a pretty darn good defense of line like that that might not be a good match up for them yeah that's one of the best defensive line principality and you're gonna have it you're gonna have such a us a big mismatch every time that these teams square off because the defense of life for forty third San Francisco so good you got Nick Bosa all the guys on the interior Erik Armstead so there's gonna be tough match ups all across the front when these teams square off twice a year and you're not gonna want to right now in blocking these guys or Bobby Evans are often blight it's it's gonna be a tough match up for all these guys what's M. brings us to the cornerback what what went down with Jared Goff I mean I don't know what it was it all just smoke and mirrors in that Super Bowl season was he figured out I mean there there's been plenty of arguments I've seen a lot of smart people say listen as soon as Matt Patricia showed how to basically not bite on the play action it was game over for the rams they still made the Super Bowl but last year was not great is there any realistic expectation around the rams that they can make it jump now with you know maybe acres and there is the full time running back yeah I I wouldn't say your golf was just smoke and mirrors in twenty eighteen I thought he was a legitimate MVP candidates for most that season and then they kind of have that by the crazy Monday Night Football game against the chiefs and ever since then he's just more grass than not been the same player it was it was he was really terrible on play action last season which was a surprise but again that goes back to the office of line you just didn't have time to to get to a second read he didn't have time to to turn his back to the defense on these armies clashing passes so that a big impact but he's a player who I know they gave them a hundred thirty four million dollars but at this point in his career he doesn't seem like someone who's going to really master the issues of the rest of the offense it's not can overcome terrible off in one place so for him in the rams to really bounce back it's going to take an improvement on the offensive line golf getting back to how he was playing in twenty eighteen and then that running game coming alive and that seems like a lot of that on because it's it's everything coming together as a cohesive unit but I mean with the talent that they do have they still look really good receivers with concocting Robert wood acres and Henderson at running back our promising and golf if he if he lives up to his contracting really pleased the way the FHS quarterback showed the ram should bounce back nicely I like Henderson he came out of Memphis right yep yep he he really was under utilized last year yeah they were kind of well I wouldn't say stubborn sticking with elderly but he just didn't get many opportunities but when he did when he did get some chances he showed his show computer production yeah if you could once against the forty Niners last season to worry bounced off a few tackles and I mean he he's a smaller guy he runs hard and he he he also I'm interested to see how they utilize them with Cammy Kerr's

Super Bowl Bound: 49ers and Chiefs

"Did bill. We made it to the Super Bowl. You me and Jimmy Garoppolo. I feel I I may have sweat more watching the NFC championship game. That Jimmy Garoppolo actually swept playing being in the NFC championship game. Bill Barnwell is a senior football writer at ESPN and the host of the bill. Barnwell show so after two weeks Of Extremely Exciting Football Championship weekend did not disappoint niners and chiefs fans disappointed pretty much everyone else or at least anyone who wanted close close games both favorites dominated so let's start with the most dominant team the San Francisco Forty niners bill win the niners packers met earlier earlier. This season. Aaron Rodgers had one of the worst games of his career threw for one hundred and four yards. Tonight he threw for three hundred twenty six yards But the result wasn't much better. Why is that okay? So the first time these two teams played the niners won with an absolutely dominant. Pash Josh Rush Nick. Bosa and his teammates knocked down Aaron Rodgers ten times on Sunday. The only knockdown Aaron Rogers twice and while they did hold them without a first down conversion in the first half both of those games the packers movable pretty consistently I should say after after halftime instead the forty niners otherworldly in a different way on Sunday they ran the ball forty two times for two hundred eighty five yards and four. We're touchdowns averaging nearly seven yards per carry to put that in context. ESPN has a stat called expected. Points with measures how each play impacts team's James Chances of scoring on a given the forty niners racked up the second most rushing. EPA for any team in a game this season and and the most for any single team in a playoff game over the last decade just narrowly beating out the prior record holder. which just happened to be the forty niners? Twenty wanting twelve playoff win over. The Green Bay Packers would Colin Kaepernick. Ran For one hundred. Eighty one rushing yards. So they're leading rusher tonight. I was not Colin Kaepernick. It was re Moster who ran for two hundred and twenty yards by himself. were good has hat trick the first half of the NFC championship game deserves a hat trick of field grade baby bill. Will I am guessing. A decent amount of football fans hadn't heard Ramos before tonight. Okay so you mustard is basically it accident accident in football terms but it's such a cool story so the Shanahan offense has a history of unearthing obscure running back and turning them into stars going back to Mike Shanahan stays in Denver but even among those backs most particularly remarkable case. Liners did everything they could to find a different running back over the past a couple of years. They hand picked a runner who they traded up to nab in the two thousand seventeen draft never played a game for the team. They signed Jerick McKinnon Torres. ACL He's collected more than and twenty one million dollars for the niners without ever playing a single game for the team. This offseason they added. Kevin Coleman from the Falcons who suffered an injury in the first half and that opened up the door from western and most of its story is easy to root for. You heard him talk about it. After the biggest game of his life on Sunday crazy that I've been on seven. Different teams actually still have cut dates every before every game a look at the dates when I got cut not everybody can can deal. Would that type of stressing the pain and agony I went through. I kept the faith to not only myself but whoever gave me the opportunity is organization has done a great job most are made the niners roster as a special teamer at first but after he looked good in limited time last season they gave him a three year extension after playing. Well this season most are just became the first running back. NFL history to top two hundred rushing yards and scored four rushing touchdowns in a single game. That's never happened in the playoffs playoffs before pretty good for a guy who was really an afterthought until the two thousand eighteen season. What's just remarkable? Bill is those two hundred twenty rushing yards. Were nearly three times as many yards as Garoppolo the night as quarterback past for which made for a remarkable stat sheet. There was a point in this football game where according to ESPN stats and Info. Jimmy went ninety four minutes in real time without attempting a pass so I have to ask going into the Super Bowl. Is that a sustainable offensive approach. I mean we all had that friend and in our twenties who got by succeeded solely because they were good looking right now that friend is Jimmy. Garoppolo I mean in the divisional round. He barely through through the football in the conference championship game. He barely through the football. We saw a similar situation with Ryan. Tannehill right over the first two weeks of his post. The season and when Tennessee ran into an offensive juggernaut with the chiefs their offense with Danny Hillis not able to accelerate into a higher gear. Now of course Garoppolo is the one who has to face the chiefs unless the forty niners can shut down the Kansas City. Passing game with their pass rush which isn't out of the question they're going to need to throw the football more quite a bit more. We've seen the niners succeed in games or Garoppolo and to throw the ball at ton with the Saints Win. Maybe as a notable for example but since Garoppolo through that interception against the Vikings in the divisional round cow Shanahan has called seventy one runs against just twelve passes passes even if the niners do end up throwing the ball effectively against the chiefs. It's clear that Shanahan doesn't WANNA put the game on Garoppolo shoulders unless absolutely necessary and that in itself is telling throughout the game bill packers fans were frustrated. Understand police and they seem to be taking out some of their wrath on the coaches arguing. They should have devised better game. Plans to both run the ball more and stop the run and do you think there's anything that Matt Leflore or the Packers Defensive Coordinator Mike Patton could have done differently in this game. Yeah I think so I think to be fair. Shanahan might just ask pedants number. It just felt like you is several steps ahead of the packers defensive coordinator and when pen and tried to adjust it just never seemed to catch up and work there. There was one play I think in the second quarter was a microcosm of everything that went wrong for the packers in this game. They came out in their nickle package with five defensive backs against the forty niners base. He's too back offense which created the size mismatch. The niners pitched the Baltimore and not only did he have a huge hole but he made both safeties with on their tackle attempts downfield win for about thirty yards. pedants struggled to put his players in positions where they could succeed and meanwhile leflore didn't coach like a guy who was a seven point underdog. The packers punted. I believe on their first drive on fourth and one from the fifty yard line. We know the packers are enormously more effective offense with Aaron Aaron Jones on the field but the floor still Jamal Williams their backup running back. Play over thirty percent of the offensive snaps and he didn't really take advantage of move the niners movement Richard Sherman. That was really fascinating during the regular season for the niners and during the vast majority of his time in Seattle Sherman signed up for almost every every snap asked the left cornerback. Defense playing against the right side of the offense. The niners started the game on Sunday. Which chairman on the opposite side of the field on the right side of the defense on the left side of the offense against devante items and while Sharon didn't travel to the left side very frequently? He did do it a few times during the first half. The second half Adams was able to be isolated Sherman over the top for a huge play downfield. I think that played about half of his snaps on either side of the field. I would have liked to have seen for trying to isolate him against German a little more often and take his chances with

"We'll see by Saturday where he is all right it more forty Niners news this is Nick Bosa he has missed D. for just how much he tells you right now hang on if it's common for I. Handa hang on hang gonna happen we're we're probably having a computer glitch I can K. R. Atari twenty six hundred okay here it is his name right now next to pass rusher always helps me yeah I mean we want to get more one on ones you know get the slide to use much opens up stuff for the interior guys as well probably see them start to get more opportunities with the on the field too so it's not just me but it's just great to have another good pastor from the film I think the short selling that I think he's jumping up and down inside well that's there is like that but he's not here so a play the way talks knowing under cells completely different way you're getting the **** heads thirteen sacks last year seven forced fumbles finally finally they give me every day and play that I got a double me all game I get Riley reform how would you assess what is it that's how to be exactly one of those like a gold truth machine thing mills like that's how it should it sounded like that so if he was really Dillinger that's way would have talked cows in hand we talked all about the A. guys were coming back from injury but there is a big decision to make on the corner and Kyle was asked about it which way he was leaning mostly or wither spoon I got a pretty good idea which we were leaning towards but it's not a big difference to me hi I notice to them because I know both want to get out there so bad I think we got two guys that I feel very confident both of them helping us when and whoever starts it'll be based off of what we think is the best chance on Sunday if we were going to decipher that who do you think's going to start he knows his starting who do you think is going to start I think it's gonna be a manual most of the western I do too but he's not gonna say that and it is a I mean he what he's saying is we only could play up all at one guy Sherman's gonna be on the other side we're gonna use K. one of the slot so you know only one can play so which doesn't end there really comparable we have quite we have you know confidence in both of them but for them it's it's huge you're either playing a playoff game a you're not night you may get in the game is something else could happen and of K. one goes down you could bring Witherspoon animal mostly in the slot and Sherman went down you could move with this phone over to that side or manual so that you know they're all gonna be up it's not like one's gonna be inactive for the game but you're you're talking about a high draft pick around three pick a callow verses are not drafted player that nobody knew who he was in a manual mostly so it's it's a bigger deal for them personally obviously it's their careers that are on the line and I think a cat kello just played so well in the year John in a foot injury in the quad just set him back but I I do anticipate that it's gonna be a manual mostly who will play in this game I think based on the way they had the game in Seattle that you're the most comfortable with yeah I would agree I think that that's the way that they're going to go have have with this one of the bench and have mostly starting opposite Sherman alright we told you that it was an anniversary day there's actually two anniversaries in a birthday will give the anniversary days January the eighth generally it is a big deal is far as big plays in sports and there's a big birthday here that we want to mention as well but twenty years ago the first play and holder smiling so you may get an idea of what does it say anywhere the eighth of troops out of the two thousand right January two thousand and one twenty yeah that's right I I'd lost track from if you think it is I will now I never told a year until like March in the year twenty twenty Dino down with twenty two all you got and I love that okay so January eight two six two thousand and then the second one comes from January eighth two thousand ten no two thousand eleven sorry to those eleven get my Elton things except to those eleven two thousand so there's always that is is that I fell playoff yes NFL playoff games was I at both of these games you right me either of these guys that neither one of them I think one of them all pain you one of them I'm not sure the first one will pain you the second one I think you like second when you like the player in the second when I know that you've hung with you hung out with actually you've hung out with both of two main players in both of these cuts you hung out all right okay let's play him let's play your cheese in the hell out of me no yeah let's go.

Let's overreact to Week 8: The 49ers are the NFL's best team

"I think that what we want to talk about our vise lows the NFL season so far and highs at this point are the Sansko forty niners it's the New England patriots to undefeated teams and then we want to get into Adam gays who want to get into Freddie Kitchens in WanNa get into the Chicago bears those I probably don't need to say are the lows of the nfl let's start with the great teams the teams that are that are undefeated mic Bosa and San Francisco Forty niners so this was so we talked about this last week where essentially both of the undefeated teams have been dogged by this Weirdo they haven't played anybody and eventually as maze I talked about last week eventually you know this is just the NFL they're beating up on these bad teams because there's just too many bad NFL team that's sort of the way things are going right now there's like five good teams that are quote unquote nice schedule winds and then there's twenty-seven teams who are who everyone considers inferior one AA competition Ravin said that the forty niners host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday they win fifty one to thirteen the panthers where the fifth ranked offense in the NFL all fifteen th ranked defense Nick Bosa three sacks three tackles for loss one pass break up and one interception return for forty six yards the forty niners I I I don't feel the need to say there will jit because we already knew their religion you've written about this this was the type of win that I August isn't very analytical this shuts people up oh yeah I mean this is this is what they call a statement when I think the most points they've scored since ninety three or something like that I saw that today Yup yeah type of win where if there was college they would get like twenty more first place votes this week exactly kind of win they wouldn't jump over the Patriots but it'd be getting close yeah I mean this what stood out to you when you just looked at I mean it was as complete performance you can get it turning that stood out that maybe I mentioned already I mean yeah obviously the defense I think has been the foundation that they've been operating on this year they've -pletely remade that front seven I should say the front the Front Line Nick Bosa you know changes everything default has been good deforest buckner is just playing out in elite level still Eric Armstead has been playing really really well as you know two and then I actually saw Solomon Thomas make a really good play today too I mean they've got guys they've got it reminds me a little bit of the rams of old in one sense that they spent several years of like accumulating talent and it's finding all starting to kind of click together her and their defense is looks like a juggernaut and then on the other side of the ball run game is just so dominant You know we saw we saw what they could do today. Seven Coleman really really good they've got like woman baby yeah they've got like four backs that could that could be their starter yeah they're just really really good so they they control the clock they it's such an old school method in you know it's it's funny because in the in the stage when passing is so much more efficient they're kind of breaking that rule that passing more efficient because when you can run with that level of efficiency in that level of explosiveness I mean it just you don't Oh you don't actually really need to pass that much because they've just been doing it sufficiently my favorite maybe event of twenty nineteen so far is field yates tweeted out most pass attempts prior to first career interception history number one is Dak Prescott number three was Kyle Allen after the game yeah Richard Sherman Seen this yet Richard Sherman quote tweeted that tweet which is I'm so happy to have Richard Sherman back in our lives I talked with a couple of weeks ago but just like the thing where he may be made up that thing with Baker Mayfield I'm fine with it leveraged do whatever he wants he's back in the spotlight he's GonNa Talk unquote tweet field Yates tweets about say element Mayo hundred percent on the rich German experience back to hit a piano yeah I know this is a pro Richard Sherman podcast now I think it's really interesting what happens now in the NFC obviously the Green Bay packers won tonight there are no drew breeze comes back with the saints and they look like they didn't miss a beat obviously you know teddy bridgewater is a very good quarterback while he was aperture breezes he's wearing your mind is the pecking order in the NFC and are the niners significantly above those other two teams man that's such a good question I really like The saints still I think the fact that they were able to do what they did go five zero at bridgewater and just Kinda keep going you know keep them momentum going forward I think they are still one of the favorites I would say you know it San Francisco New Orleans one and the packers just slightly below that but with the way that Aaron Rodgers has been playing last couple of weeks there certainly scary I think their defense has taken a little bit of a step back so there may be not quite as balanced as we thought they were but yeah I mean I think those are clear top three teams there's no question about that and then you could you know make arguments for the vikings or whoever but yeah I think those are like the like the cream of the crop for share in then there's a bunch of other teams speaking of the cream of the Crop New England patriots okay so the stats from the NFL the browns I can barely get throughout the browns had turnovers on three consecutive offensive plays against the Patriots that is the first time any team has done so since week one twenty twelve only the seventh time it's been done since two thousand this is not good if you're the browns we're GonNa get to the browns and are very robust stocks downs section a little bit but this patriots team unfortunately this is not kind of the schedule will win that we thought it was going to be you know the niners get there's the browns are not as good as the panthers the browns have been kind of a disaster but this was just another performance Devin mccourty looks like maybe defensive player of the year candidate the defense he just unbelievable in Baker Mayfield after the game said that the Patriots didn't do anything confuse them they were just playing really well yeah and you you kinda wonder like isn't that the worst case scenario for a team is the they're not doing anything new there just being the crap out of you I mean it was amazing when you think about this patriots defense what comes to mind yeah I think a couple of things going to mind number one discipline that's kind of a hallmark of the belichick teams is just being really disciplined like you know obviously Cliche do your job or whatever that's the first thing versatility you know they're able to play it's

Nick Bosa has chance to play in Week 1 despite ankle injury

"Let's hear from John which on that the Nick Bosa update this again for more from that yesterday in talking about whether or not they expect me closer to play week one he's doing awesome he really is I've got a nice perch here where I can look out and I do so each day to watch Nick in his progress and get reports obviously but he really is is healing at at at a really good rate and you know week one is certainly in play not gonna say probable questionable I'm not gonna go there yet because we just aren't to that point yet but he's he's kind of exceeding where we thought he could be so it's definitely a possibility knowing how much he means to this organization and and how well we're looking at this as a as a as a long term proposition you know we were not to rush anything in doing what he does it's one thing to be able to run out here but doing it against a three hundred thirty pound man turning and and all the things that the line has to do is another level but I can say we're very encouraged with the way it's going with Nick so he said we're not just a problem hold on just a questionable but we'll say it's in play for me that means questionable right you may player

Which college produces the best NFL talent?

"A special edition of N._F._l.. Live on deck today at the N._F._l.. Celebrates one hundred season just six weeks away however we are just five weeks away in college. Football Opens It one hundred fiftieth the anniversary so today welcome N._F._l.. You were combining the two worlds to answer age-old question what college produces the best n._F._l.. Talent however I'm Wendy net sand Hutus here you know what's better to be on this panel our expert notice icy expert telling me when Lewis Minute of her panter on the list not on the House for back the quarterback guru he and his brother in a lot of N._F._l.. Games James A lot and Ryan Clark. You see the L. L._S._U.. They are ills college football. L. Is Jonathan Vilma bike. He will join US shortly. He happened to win a National Championship and Oh by the way a super bowl as well coming up on N._F._l.. Live will break down position by position which college produces the best quarterback Oklahoma has the number one overall pick the last two years we have the top ten plays all the N._F._l.. Superstars when they were in college and answering big question which school produces the best all time N._F._l.. Talent we had to ask the players themselves to kick things off. We're the first pick quarterback Oklahoma Viva say Oklahoma Alabama Clemson because proven it is one atop factory the Ohio state highest in Alabama. 'cause I never lost beat out. You really can't understand it into your inside. Sadness programming is all about the you for N._F._l.. Because of Georgia in every aspect but I think L._S._U.. CRESA environment of gray competition and guys is trying to feed off of IT University of Pittsburgh. You Got Dorset. Dan Marina you got Larry. Fitzgerald was not a me show. It's about having everybody involved in working for the Sandal clumps in would cushman he's been doing. He's making people believe everything is possible for House is the best our stop it. Stop stuff well. Let's start shall we with the most players from each college currently in the N._F._l.. Alabama leads the way with V with sixty five players players followed by Ohio state in second place with fifty eight so we're going to debate these schools I in terms of who is best at producing N._F._l.. Challenge here's a tale of the tape on Alabama at Ohio state success since the two thousand draft folks tools I have had thirty one first round picks the most of any school while the Buckeyes have thirteen more total picks in the last twenty drafts but Bama's players have been slightly more successful in the league producing three more pro bowlers than Ohio St Louis Rick. Let's start with with the crimson tide. They're starting eleven if you will offense and defense current N._F._l.. Talent there's any question that these are both very impressive lineups that if Alabama can roll these teams out there right now now. I think they'd win a few games without a doubt. If you look at the offense aside outside of the ball the first thing that jumps out of these starting eleven are the two wide receivers look Julio. Jones is one of the finest athletes in the N._F._l.. For guardless of position he's in the news right now because he's about to get a new contract extension and he's really one of the he's one of the transcendent players at the position that this game the scene Amari Cooper the same way. When Amari came out of college? I remember doing his tape in thinking point honestly as far as catching one pet and run wide receiver. I hadn't seen one as good as him as him. In a long long time on the defensive side look they have fine players throughout the eleven here really that when you get to the secondary and you guys like Eddie Jackson Landon Collins I mean these guys are disband tastic players on the front dont`a hightower our multiple time superbowl winner. These are great great players right here. Make our way to Columbus shower of the to Ohio state you go to the offense side of the football. Look the first thing that jumps out without a doubt as Ezekiel Elliott because if he's not the best running back in the N._F._l.. He would be considered a top three running back in the N._F._l.. Wide Receiver Michael Thomas Really someone who was unheralded coming out of college. He's a tremendous tremendous. Pro will probably be the highest paid wide receiver in the N._F._l.. In short time then move over to the defensive side of the ball this this is where really this football team really kind of jumps off the board starting up Front Joey Bosa Cam Hayward those are two of the best defense alignment in the N._F._l.. Right now and then when you look down there at the Secondary Malcolm Dyson Dinkins Denzel Ward Marshon Lattimore doesn't let's get much better than that. All right Jonathan Vilma made his way again surly qualified to weigh in on this discussion. Look I mean there's a shortage of talent with either of these squads. It's almost ridiculous factory and a lot of ways both of these institutions but let the debate again a Ryan Clark. You can't pick L._S._U.. Just yet but when you look at this group what stands out L._S._U.'s better than both of these things we're gonNA get to that. We're supposed to be talking outlets. Let's be honest. There's amazing players. Neither one of them have a quarterback right before proven yet though little I mean why don't we always have to see something first before we can get you well Ray Richardson running back right you saw God compare that with you why time gentlemen we're GonNa play Nice Got Ninety minutes ago. You're the Glenn Difference from every other position that we're looking at okay fair enough now back to you Louis. It is a production results oriented industry. Is it not so it is fair to say seeing something. Does one believe they'll be success won't sure but I mean we're we'll see this is kind of like a combination of what they have done in college. What some of these guys have done in the pros in some of it's a little bit of projecting about what they're gonNA continue to do in the pros? That's how I'm going to expand it to that all right so at quarterback quarterback Dwayne Haskins I believe right now. There's no comparison as far as I don't care what A._J.. McCarron did it Alabama cows tape. Those Wayne has close exact Haskins is going to be a fine football player. What's going to happen to him? Really is going to be more predicated on what Washington redskins overall due to him then what he does to himself. I firmly believe that as far as these rousers overall look the wide receiver position Julio Jones Amari Cooper. Julio Jones's the standard if you go and look N._F._l.. For an offices and look in their scouting books books every team has a standard at every position that they put for scouts the suit for as far as whenever when their scouting people polio is going to be on that list for for many many teams he's about as good as it gets so skill positions at Alabama are awesome. The defensive players at Ohio State is what stands out for me as far as their front seven is concerned particularly their defensive line and their secondary Denzel Award Marshon Lattimore. You tell me a team that wouldn't take those two young men right now and startled. Let me ask you a specific question since you spend some time as an analyst watching these players at the collegiate level if you had to choose either of this group Alabama Ohio state who's players really got better or who took a bigger step forward than you anticipated when they got to the N._F._l.. Out To you to dance your last part no neither standout. They're pretty equal because watching these guys watching Jonathan Allen he played okay well Dante. I'll tell you knew who is going to be tremendous player defensive player C._J.. Moseley's same thing and then you go to the other side and you look at Joey Bosa Nick Bosa Darren like Malcolm Jenkins. I play with Malcolm Jenkins in in New Orleans knew he was going to be a study. He's Philistine but what is surprising how fast or House they defense is. I did not realize how fast defensive you think big ten you didn't big Brawley guys not so fast but these guys can move joey. Bosa also can move nick volks in Darren League. We know the Burner Malcolm J. Denzel War March. I mean that is a very very talented athletic fast fast defense. I thought I was going to jump in your rookie. I think that's a great question Wendy about as far as what teams teams have players that have gotten better pros. You look at Ohio state this look at their offense. In particular Michael. Thomas was a good wide receiver to hire Stayton. He's fantastic now. He's GonNa be highest paid wide receiver in the N._F._l.. Andrew Norwell most people wouldn't even know Andrew Norwell well what from Andrew Doorbell he right now just judge Moore Norwell can't open open some N._F._l.. Spectacular and even on the defensive side of the ball. I didn't think Marshon lattimore. I've liked Marshon Lattimore at Ohio state. I didn't love Marcet. He has taken his game to another level as well in the really own Alabama side you know how I feel about Alabama I feel nick and what he does and how he builds his program but really focus on their offense align that was just look okay and think about that question. Wendy Wendy asked how many players have gotten better how many have continued to improve Andre Smith may have his best days at Alabama. Dame's carpenter has really been good pro Brian Kelly the jury still out he could be a he's a good player. He's GonNa play already in Indianapolis D._J.. fluker was he ever ever really that guy that dominant guy no. He hasn't been Cam Robinson. Have you seen story so it's interesting because they're preventing people have been many people who've hit Alabama and said they get the best out of their players at Alabama. Maybe it's good discussion legal where people go by what teams there drafted so we look at Michael Thomas he falls into a place where he needs an accurate passer and he's one of the most accurate passers all the time also about the place you land in ashore and how they develop you ask Josh Rosen he absolutely he knows that all too well. I ten Hasselbeck. The whole point of this is to pick one of our producers here a little bit we talked. I'm going Alabama mainly change quarterbacks. Yeah I think looks great point about the offensive line at Alabama because so many of them when you look at them just in terms of body type you're like Oh my God look at those guys body type wise but like I don't know that some of those guys have come in and be like Oh and they got a whole lot better. We're obviously splitting hairs here on this ongoing Alabama Lewis Sorry Nick. Oh from a hustle change your mind or did you stick the way said one because I don't care if between Haskins hasn't played. I think he's I think he's in the saints. Stratosphere is A._J.. McCarron so I like that I liked it their offense of line one of the things that talked about how they develop those guys on the defense aside but they're fun four plus their secondary this going with them Ryan Clark you have to pick one while I was brought here for one reason in one reason only when the Knicks because everyone knew it my answers it would be and what Tim Hasselbeck has proven is. You don't need a quarterback. That's really he's GonNa be Ohio state in Alabama that don't have quarterbacks guess what we don't need a quarterback back and by the way you don't want our first off was good enough for Bill Belichick your boy to draft him as Tom Brady's heir-apparent draft. We thought they they went to L._S._U.. Because this guy has what they decided to we throwing the ball all around the field Andrew Whitworth he's played a thousand years. There's a Guy Jerry go look at the Neil hundred may has like negative two percent body fat Michael Broncos out. There aren't key. We gotta wait on them but it's are are you at the back of position. That's all we got mad. I gotTa get here all even have to work conviction when you spoke scissors. I'm sorry I just so tim. I love your twenty. Two question your toughness Whoa West I've seen because as you know what fair enough he's at Alabama alum landon dare you wait into the circus that we've created. But what do you have to say about this. Whole debate ain't Ryan got some good good good stuff going on say? I wouldn't question his toughness at all. I don't know why you questioned Ryan toughness. I saw him not got a lot of Alabama's always number one no matter Corolla tyrod. Let me ask you a serious question. You know obviously nick. Sabin is a hall of Famer one of the best ever coach this game but specifically what does he do that has allowed such historic success at the university. Steve Alabama <hes> as a coach he speaks for as a coach. He represents his players as players coach. I would say he makes all this coach. All the players are on the him as a player as a father <hes> <hes> and as a as many tried to teach us they'd be a man and a great play all at one time you know so he does it all leading. Can you please tell the people why you are now better that you have trusted your career training with the guy from L._S._U.. Hey right you agreed trying to grow been gone on gone for years

"Their third team is gonna look very different question. Four. What's a piece of culture? That's come out right now movie musician act, whatever that people like the you don't think is good. Ooh, I kind of negative. So I don't watch game of thrones or the avengers movies or the marvel movie I've been so left out of life. Like, I can't say that they're not good. But I've been so left out of life. I have to find things to do on Sunday nights. Because I can't like go to my phone for anything. I I don't know at all. You know, what I like though, you don't make a big deal out of it. You're not like shitting on the dragon be, you know, like, oh, I've you like everybody. I know people have thought who thought they would think that the stuff was silly. They enjoy it. I'm just it was just too late for me to get around to it. Just make it easier to mute you use a hashtag all I'm ask. I. I don't like it when it's okay to not watch stuff. But when people do the it's like, people don't watch sports and called sport ball, you know, and that's like the anti. I think that's kinda corny. So I appreciate that. You're just sort of a conscientious objector without you not acting like up. That's totally reached out of the business saying, I don't like things. I haven't seen do overdo it. That's a good lifelessly. Okay. Last question money. I do it in his voice uncles Mars. This helps because I'm glad we're not making contact right now. It's always a little rude. I warned you about. Very smart cultured man, but I want on Saul you ever in three hundred seventy seven thousand tweets my question is did you get paid for those? Wow. The answer to that question is how do you think I got this job? Why do you think Nick Bosa hasn't? Serious born on that like, I don't blame Lenny for asking that question. But my understanding is that Tony reality became aware of my existence via my tweets. That's what gives me on around the horn. That's how I got sports. There's a lot of people in Bolton. So yes. Eight. Oh, hey, I get paid for these tweets who is employed for me to tell you. All right. Thank you for taking his question. I appreciate it for only laughing for like, two seconds. Respect you can get it out. Now, it's a question. My dog's voice. I realize you for being willing to house will back off childhood hero. You know? Did you see the did you see him out here is he walking around got this ball head? Why do Katie Nolan show that has a big I think I finally got around to telling him to his face that I referred to him as Hasselbeck, but I wanna come up to him. And just be like so mad hit that was in the league. I know exactly you're. He's a big is what it is said he looked like the Hasselbeck because he did he has a big hack has beautiful blue sparkling is are worse skies to become two point very lazy. "The majority of why people voted for Trump, right? The majority white people voted for Trump guys in the locker. Yeah. Yeah. Nick Bosa does not possess an outlier opinion. Right. Like boasted did not come out here say so people like you never heard anything like that before they don't necessarily tell me that this stuff they talking about. But you think I don't know that somebody just about every job is out here living like Nick Bosa, you'd think those cats in the locker room don't know that I would love to try to have this conversation sometime with a white NFL player. I didn't ask them because at you're right one hundred eleven beliefs. But I think they're pretty quiet about it. Your context of their work environment dog about it baby with each other. Yeah. Well, yeah. Right. Like offense of line has a dinner. Yes. Yes. That's the Nick bolsa problem. He's into Ralph position to be out here talk about that Dixit there. Yes. That is right. Most white pass rushers have a certain sensibility. That is not I'm trying to find the right way to say this like touted up they got their like their friends are not white. Okay. The thing is like where to begin. So he's tweets worth parsing out the tweet because the the truly problematic was the likes look liking some like memes about immigration stuff. You saw some Twitter people of calling that out. But the things he actually tweeted were just like all perceived as code was stuff. Like Black Panthers over rated beyond say sucks. Those are the two he should have completed the fact in like Michelle Obama's becoming. He's actually not a great book or something. But he he had like those like he's like sending vibes out without. Don't say it. But that's kinda interesting, right? Because like there is a difference between tweeting something in liking something in terms of accountability. It made it harder. I think if he'd actually tweeted any of the stuff on immigration, it'd be a very different story. But stuffy tweed was of vague enough for people to not really know how to talk about it because we're like, well what we don't really know. What is beliefs are because he's being kind of cagey. The second thing about Nick Bosa that I wanna talk about as the story was breaking. And I was kind of I was laughing too. I had the same. He blocked me never tweeted about him. And then I tell you this Bomani. And I'm like, well, maybe he just went through and blocked a certain kind of media. He didn't walk. You know, he blocked me Hurson who has never tweeted about him up. Pretty I keep it pretty chill on Twitter. I think didn't block you. It's possible. He's a fan. You never know never nine black Vosa about my basis wide, bad Catholic that there's a whole bunch of cats out there just like that who love by dirty draws. I'm telling somebody right now that's about to sit so crazy tweet out from his burder account it he's going to be like Beaumont utility like it is positive about. Nick. Wow. Polished pass rushing moves got that double swipe just like his brothers such a plug and play day one starter hits me with the block. I wanna know why we can talk about how his daddy used to own a strip club in how his great Granddad. He was a mobster. There's actually y'all he so that this is the thing, and I expect Dan to really get on this because it's so south Lord like the history of the Bose's is just made for the Miami Herald, it is so much just wild like say his pops the first round pick used to own at least used to does own script. "In the two thousand nineteen NFL draft. The saber TISCO forty nine select Nick. The west coast northern California. We all know brother plays in southern California is father, also any action. So the posts. In a second joint. Some pretty respectable company in the NFL in that department and DJ you're telling me that scouts throughout the NFL drooling over this kid being a prospect coming in and now, he's the national football. It's really quite a heritage in family. And I don't know if these guys related to the law enforcement Bose's there was a police chief out Minneapolis back in Minneapolis. And also he was the chief back east on the NYPD for anybody who doesn't know me. I'm retired detective with the NYPD. And that's why you know, I'm a great fan of the entire lineup here at KFI K, great support of law enforcement, you have John McGuinness former sheriff Sacramento county, but you put put that off to the side and you say to yourself. All right. I made it man, I get selected for the NFL. I I'm gonna make I'm in the big time now. But then something happened turns out, Nick Bosa had had an opinion, Nick Bosa had a point of view. Nick Bosa feels a certain way about certain things in society in public and private his musical tastes, his movie tastes and his political tastes. And I kept asking myself. This question all day long. Today's is going up and down the the entire west coast. Great state of California. Esca myself. We're in the hell do we live down? What is going? I I don't not going to be one of those. Yeah. I'm gonna lean that should put. I'm I'm up to mystic still. And when I say optimistic, I know visit group of my friends in a group of people, I associate professionals that I know when we saw a GDP this morning of three point two percent. We're like, yeah. Great news. This is our country. This is good for everybody. If you look at the job numbers, if you look at the the the micro analysis of the job numbers who it's affecting our country. Whether it's the the black job rate and the unemployment rates and the people looking for work today, these Spanich rates and people are back to work and in spite of what it was an incredible a weather season this past winter. All signs showed that a pretty healthy reality. And I'm telling you right now. If you're somebody who sat there today, and you opened up your your newspaper, and or you put on the business news today. Nobody really read since papers anymore and you put on your business news. And you saw hey GDP at three point two percent, the fine. Everybody's prognostications. The final any everybody's, you know, Krugman from the New York Times all three months ago, we're going be in a recession. It's come. I don't disagree that downturn is coming. I don't disagree. But if you're somebody will turn on TV, and you said three point..

"Out of Ohio State. We'll talk about that. And all the other talent that went off the board with college football expert, Cole Cabello key. Of course, played at Auburn and has worked many many years covering the college football scene currently at the SEC network and call we are delighted to have you on the Murph and MAC show. Brian Murphy, Paul McCaffrey, Bonnie, Jill laflin Gamonal Cole. How are you? Great guys. Appreciate you have me on love talking. Whenever I hear you talking college football always enjoyed the breakdown. So I know primarily your SEC guy. But do you feel comfortable giving us your thoughts on Joey Bosa going number two Nick going number two? I'm telling you, I have the biggest damn problem calling him Joey. Yeah. And in fact, somebody reporter called him that in Nashville. It's like did you just call me Joey on Nick Bosa as the as the number one D lineman off the board. You have obviously the injury concerns. He got that taking care of was able to get all the field and began to get his rehab going in obviously begin training for the combine player a lot. A lot of other college kids we're going to have the opportunity to go back. And when you see him onto the thing that impresses you the most very similar was it Ohio State is how he turns feed into power very quickly. Now, he can get you at the speed raw. She's got good flexibility while on, but we need to stand up against the run. Or if he needs to provide a bit of a goal, rush and turned into power, he can do it quickly fluid and a guy that brings a really solid clients with his hands. So I think he's going to be a really good enough L defender. So really good is good. But is it as good as what Quinton Williams would be as an NFL player? I don't know about that. Because here's the thing. He can align of close to the football. And I think he's going to be in a better spot to impact more play on regular basis. Now, it's not necessarily a knock on Poza, but he'll be easier to avoid the thing that I loved about watching Williams last year, he's lined up in the air gap between the center and guard or over the sitter close to the football and every play which allows him to destroy more place more quickly, and you don't get a guy three hundred ten fifteen pounds with his kind of lateral quickness that still brings hand technique and fundamentals ancient sort of to in play the run when he'd asked to really the only thing that I have seen about Quenneville games. And I don't just absolutely love that he did look like he gassed out in fourth quarters of a couple of games that can easily come with conditioning. And now that he's going to be a professional football player. You like to think that that's not going to be a problem because they'll put more time energy and effort into it. You've got the expenses to go out. And handle his training and handle his resources nutrition. Things of that nature was the number one player in the Strath across the board any player quarterback defensive lineman running back receiver, whatever if I'm starting to franchise. You can get one dude in this draft Williams. What happened that guy because I think that he's going to be able to be disruptive close to the football on a regular basis. We're talking to call Q Belic SEC network analyst, he played football Auburn studies the college game like few others. It's funny coal is that we heard that a lot this week. Randy cross came in our show, the said that Mike Lombardi came our show said that you just said that on our show, and I'm kind of wondering if you're John Lynch in Kyle Shanahan in your thinking from their perspective. How do you think there's there's there's a smart football guys in the room, they know their game. And how do you you sit there and rationalize taking Nick Bosa over Quinton Williams in that case, let's flip it around here. If you want me to play the side of it. I will how many in listen, I know we've got one in the NFL right now. It's going to be easy for everybody to think of how many interior defensive linemen. Have we seen continuously disrupt the NFL year after year after year four five year stretches? An interior defensive linemen be disruptive weekend. Weak out in the NFL. We used a warn sack MacFarlane John Randall air Donald student right now, but you run out of guys pretty quickly. And so with where the game is going more quick passes with getting the ball out quickly. More teams running out of the shotgun. Spreading guys out a little bit more. There are probably guys who don't see that position as well as others. Now, you could probably say GM's next to each other and one guy will tell you we need somebody to destroy the middle of the office of line on every play. We need we need the game record inside. And another guy. I'll tell you. I want my pressure off the yet, I want my most valuable defensive product or asset coming off the edge. That's where the pocket needs to be disrupted ineffective an impact it. So it's just kind of different flavors of ice cream. I suppose in that some people believe that where you affect the pocket. How you affect the quarterback? How you affect passing lanes may be more beneficial. Inside example, I talked to well must chant South Carolina head football coach last year. And he said call I'm telling you because they have a kid named Giovan kin law. That's going to be coming up next year defensive tackle. He said, I truly believe that interior pass rushers are becoming more valuable than ED's guys. He said these didn't fall out so quick that if I can get a guy with weight, and I can get a guy that can get a push in the pocket. He disrupts more passing plays than a guy off the edge. You think about a backside guy about quarterbacks right handed in you're coming off left tackle, we always figure that last time such valuable position. But that quarterback has no idea if somebody did his on his back or two inches away from him until he actually gets it. He's not feeling that pressure. Coming up the middle right handed left handed mobile statue. All new whatever spread offense that quarterback stealing that pressure. And if you can add someone with length at that spot, then I think they can also remove passing lanes. But being able to Paul's down that great great analysis. I love it. And. In informs, forty Niner fans going forward. Listen to Cole cubelic from the SEC network talking about well, Quinton Williams says number one player in the draft. But Nick Bosa bringing a lot of things that certain teams in certain GM's, and coaches, obviously value so the forty Niners going with that they have deforest Buckner inside. They've Solomon Thomas inside they have d Ford, and they have now Nick Bosa Quinton Williams, and then we get to the other team in the bay area and another player from your region. Even though it's not as C C Cleveland. Faira Cleland ferrall at Clemson. No doubt a good player. But many thought a player you could get later in the draft. European co of the raiders taken him at four. In in going to a four three. You you needed that stud defensive end out there in fail can give you that. Go watch Joan away from the national championship game. He gave him fifth. There's actually a hell of a Babar to watch. Because you've got some big wins. Cleveland Farrell got some big wins. We knew it was it was an NFL playoff game style battle over there at left tackle during that Alabama. Clemson national titles are they can play the run. Well, he's physical the absolute perfect frame as to what you want to build your defense around. And he's the guy that's going to be able to affect the quarterback in effect the pocket sticking with Oakland. Obviously, I covered a lot as well. Being in Alabama kid, I like the pick there because I think he's versatile. I think the NFL game is kind of going there think what Alvin Kamara is New Orleans. A lot of teams are going to go back system teams a guy that can hurt you out of the backfield. Give you a little bit more of a shifty back as well. I love the Jacobs can get two full celebration very quickly very good lateral quickness changes direction, extremely quick and a guy. I think if they punishing runner for his stature, and a lot of people will look at his size and not really think that he has a lot of physicality, but he does. And if you look at his background look at his story, it's hard. It's impossible not to root for him. And he's a kid that two three years ago at Alabama was buried on the depth chart, but when I got to see and carry the ball just a few times I can remember with guys like your kindle even on that roster in Damian Harris on that roster. Immediately say Josh Jacobson outline of he brings more explosion. And he gets the full speed it could change direction faster, you can flex them out in the fought. He plays a little bit of wildcat quarterback. He can carry the ball in between the tackles and catch it out of the backfield. So he can help in the return game a little bit. So I will be key for what Josh Jacobs offers the right? Yes. So the raiders get sort of knocked for a reached early. But then praised for a snake in the weeds pick at twenty four for Josh Jacobs. I do agree with you that I think I I think Cleveland fail could have been gone a little bit later in the draft. Maybe they couldn't find anybody to move down with. That's always possibility. But I do believe that he would have been. Well, this is Mike Mayock. I go round. So we'll see how it pans out. Obviously fun talk draft Cole cubelic from the SEC network while we have you come more minutes here, the national story because so much of the media comes out of New York City is that what? People are going out of their minds in New York say what are you doing taking a quarterback at Duke? You're supposed to take Zion Williamson when you draft out of Duke, not Daniel Jones. Right. So so your read on the Daniel Jones pick is that a crazy pick by Gettleman in New York. I think it is. It just it doesn't make a lot of sense. Because the first thing I'll say this. I'm okay with a team building for the future. I'm fine with you saying this is who you believe there's going to be next. We want a guy, and I'm a big proponent of quarterbacks being come in sit behind the guy. The current franchise quarterback. Learn how to handle your business and then become the guy down the road. And even if it's a situation that worked out like it did there in San Francisco with Garoppolo where you have a very valuable asset on your hands. And you're able to get a return on that with traffic, I'm fine with that as well. So I don't I don't mind the move per se..

Nick Bosa: I Will 'Keep My Opinions to Myself' After Criticism of Old Tweets

"And then there's the story about Nick Bosa and Nick Bosa has praised President Trump. He's called Colin Kaepernick clown in tweets later deleted. He's also admitted the possibility of landing in San Francisco prompted him to curtail his social media activity and on Wednesday. He sounded as if he's done sharing his conservative opinions quote. I'm just getting ready for the draft. I'm not really worried about Twitter anymore. I think the people who know me know, who I am. And I'm going to keep my opinions to myself from now on he's tweeted things in the. The past like beyond say sucks. Stuff that I mentioned earlier, that's not hill. That's really necessary. But here's the thing. These are opinions. Right. We have the freedom to express our opinions. We're doing right now on the radio people. Do it at the water cooler peop-, the water cooler is now Twitter, Facebook, Instagram. Right. Is it really that big of a deal that this guy is definitely leaning to the right? And that he should should this affect his his livelihood in any way. No. I think the bigger issue is that he feels he has to get rid of it. Because of the backlash say everybody has nothing raises or a legally. Yep. Yeah. It's not a race league. Tom Brady, a big fan of Trump's and nobody says anything him if he wants to put them up there. That's a great point. Yeah. I think he was more concerned because he's going to eat thinks he's going to San Francisco, which is the bastion of liberal. It's yeah. Like moscow. Yeah. And he's. Comrade? Have you read the paper day worried? But he races. Because once you put them onto it is there somebody that's true. It's not coming off. They're going to see it again, just say, hey, how and some of the tweets like when he was in high school, and, you know, come on, man. Yeah. I agree with you. If somebody says something that's racist or defamatory, something like that. If you like just go after someone like, you know in a brutal mean-spirited way. Yeah. That's gonna come out to buy. It's funny because now I've got a twenty one year old son. He's a junior college. And I got a twenty three year old daughter who happens to be a teacher, and my daughter has a Twitter page for work, and then she has her own private Twitter page with just a handful of followers that she uses for her own stuff. But on neither page will you find anything that's remotely close to being controversial, exactly. But the the point is is that I kind of beat this into their heads. Because of what I do for a living. Because I'm on the radio. And I know these things you put it out there. It's never coming back. It's like you said, Ken, you can delete the tweet, but somebody's got a screen shower somewhere. Always. And you do have to do that. You have to be careful about I always think, you know, there's many tweets that I have not sent I've wanted to say, well, you're just like somebody up. But then I think too I really want to deal with the blowback. No forever. Exactly. Yeah. We'll Blaine in two thousand eleven you tweeted out, blah, blah. Well, yeah. It was two thousand eleven and this was happening. And that's why I felt that way. I I don't know. I kinda have mixed feelings about it. Because I think we should all be able to say whatever you want to say, nobody gets mad at calling capital, or at least the people who are mad at this guy aren't mad at calling capper. Nick, right run. They have no problem with Colin expecting expressing his opinions. But this guy who has opinions that opposed. There's well. He's he's terrible because he's conservative. He's worried about he hasn't got glass. Yeah. So he really doesn't know what would have happened. But if it became world famous when you I was grilled all my tweets, just in case, would you know, what I said ten years ago, you know, what I'm just saying they have people that just go back and look at everybody tweets was some guy last year, and he would hold a baseball. From when he was any no hitter. Yeah. So they got people just go back to try to find something. I would I was growing those. If you don't have it locked by

"But don't put it in any mocks when we're on the clock. You can talk. I've had GM's do that with me over the years. And I've done it exactly that way, John told me nothing. And so he has a number pick these trading it, and he didn't telling me, and I think I got a good friendship with John Dorsey more better than some other people out there. I mean, I played college football with the guys who are making decisions, and there's I don't even bother asking. Because there's no upside and they wouldn't lie. They just wouldn't tell you. But so the point is all there there are three guys that legitimately. But like they've never once. Lied to me. Everyone has told me a lot of stuff. Have kind of steered away from different things. But there are three guys that I legitimately would trust. I would leave my kids at their house. Let's put it that way. But I'm just not going to ask them because I don't wanna put him in that position. And the point is tied that there's no way teams know what to giants are thinking. How can why would the giants pick six let anybody out of that building? No people in the building may think they know a may name and not know because we have that happen GM's guys certain things and not let them know everything a lot of scouts won't even know the final bore until the morning and a change in the night before. So we just finished with April Fools day. So I guess you could say okay now what we're saying is actually maybe the truth. But I think when you look at it, what would be as you say, the upside what what would be something. What helps the giant by people in the league? Forget that everybody else people know league. No what they're doing a quarterback. Yeah. I mean, I spent forty five minutes on the phone with GM on Sunday. And even if he's the general manager he puts the card in he makes the final decision. We went through the top one hundred or so players in great detail at each position. And even he even he at this point is still a grad. We're still working on him. We don't know the medical on him like they're still working through all of this. And it's a long process. You have free agency the season ends the coaches are now getting involved. So I mean, you know, it sounds like we're making a lot of excuses for for not knowing nobody knows right now. Maybe the cardinals. Now, San Francisco knows that. Hey, if Cuyler goes number one, we're going to take Nick Bosa to or we're going to take one and Williams to whoever it is other than that. Like there are just so many different variables. And the in San Francisco would probably tell you if you talk to John Lynch. Hey, we love Nick Bosa. We love Quentin Williams says why would if Oakland wants to move up or the giants wanna come move up or. Denver from ten Miami from thirteen Washington from fifteen. Yeah, we'd make a deal if they offer us a lot we make a deal to move back. Guys. So amidst all the lies that you're being told every day, let's circle this twenty to forty range of players that it could go either way that you get to be called a first round for the rest of your life or you're just a second rounder. Mel I'll put you. I'll put you on the block here. I by by asking you. About a pair of offense of lime indigo twenty one and twenty two and your current mock Chris Lidstrom guard from Boston College Eric McCoy. Syndergaard from Texas, am you have these guys go into Seattle and Baltimore back to back these type of guys catching up, man? I'm proud of you. I'm proud of you guys. But anyway. Keep jabbering Cape chat. I'm coming back, but go Chris Lindstrom up. Coming up, make sure. Got no one to hold them on the phone. Let's see as far as McCoy the versatility to be a Senator guard, obviously with the athleticism. He shows when you need interior linemen is Baltimore does or any team..

"Hey, everybody. It's Daniel Jeremiah for move the sticks. Bookie brooks. And this is Nick Bosa these third and nine. Part of the four time they've been in Buckeye territory. Blount in trouble. The thirty seven yard line to her Scott. Moons is the ball. Touchdown Ohio State. I balked for those that don't know. Let's explain what the three sixty series is all about one of our favorite things we do here in the spring and Louis sticks. Well, the great thing about it three sixty seasons begin opportunity to talk to teammates coaches parents sometimes childhood friends. They really know these bras base will they're able to really shape the respective Emberley allow us to know more about the kid and the top prospect that we'll hear the name calling drafted today's episode. We're talking about Nick Bosa, and I think it would be a little insulting to calm. Joey's little brother because I don't know if you can say someone's a little brother who might end up being the first or second pick in the draft there with Nick who when he's been on the field. That'll high state has been a very dominating football player. Buck and one thing I'm looking forward to during this episode. The folks we get to talk to that know him better than anyone else. It's going to be fun. It is going to be fun because we have an opportunity to talk to his parents. We'll talk to his high school coach buckeyes head coach Ryan day teammates of his at Ohio State. And then the man of the hour himself. All American defensive end, Nick foles as we got time. We're gonna get to all those interviews in just a few moments buck, but at the top here, I thought it was important, and we get our opinions out there on both of what we see when we watch him, maybe a ceiling floor com conversation, and and a comparison, which it seems like there's a pretty easy comparison to make when you consider the last name where he's going to be picked in the skillset yellow key. He's easy to watch. What else about Nick, both the Nick Bosa to me is a is a skilled player at the point of attack. He is really taking the tips that he's learned from the family business with his older, brother. His dad is alcohol playing in the league. And he's put him in practice. When I watch him. I love the energy the effort, I like to hand skills. He's a relentless competitor. And he consistently wins at the line of scrimmage and for everything that people talk about him in terms of being a pass rusher. I think he stout and steady against a run game. And so when you looking at complete players, Nick. Bolsa is about as complete as they come playing the line. Yeah. When I got a chance to see him play live last year not this season. But last year in the Cotton Bowl against USC Bucky. He not only was the best player on the field. He dominated the game. I mean, USC and Sam darnold couldn't do anything. He just completely neutralized their ability to function offensively and not just as a pass rusher. He's very disruptive in the run game as well. Donald play action steps up with a pocket wrapped up and thrown down by Nick Bosa. He's got the versatility. If you wanted to reduce him inside. He could do some of that as well. But I like him coming off the edge people. I know forty time was good. It was a little bit faster. I think than his brothers wasn't an elite forty time. But we look at his tent split the third-fastest ten split of any of the defensive linemen and this year's combine. So that shows you got some get off burst. His hands are as good as I've seen from a pass rusher. I mean phenomenal with his ability to win with his hands get home and finish. Now you had the the core muscle injury. This year that cost him the majority of the season. Now, I know it wasn't much. But in the three games. As you watched him before he got hurt. Buck again best player on the field. He was dominant. He was on his way my opinion, having a huge year would ahead. Well, over you know, well into double digits and sacks and the Brazilian tackles for loss all that stuff. But I see the skill set. I see the work ethic. And I see look the bloodlines are a real thing. People can laugh at that. All you want a chance to a big brother play each and every week over this this last year when he's out there bucket. He's one of the better players in the NFL getting after the quarterback. And I see no reason why can't do the same thing. No. There's no reason why he can't do the same thing. And in fact, when I watched Nick Bosa he reminds me a couple of different players, and I'm not even gonna use a Bosa comparison when I look at him. He reminds me of Philadelphia's Brandon Graham, and Chris long, and Brandon Graham what I see is a guy that can play with leverage a guy that can rush to pass a consistency on the outside. But also has to quickness to go inside and be a problem as three technique and sub package situations. And then we Chris long Chris long has been an effective player. Guide that has been able to come to win on the backside of another dominant rusher when I look at Bosa akahsi both being an effective compliment to a team that has a Pash already establish. I think he's is excellent player an excellent prospect he's going to win consistently. He's he's just a guy that really understands the skill of being able to get out to the passer a buck. No doubt. I mean, he's look he's a skilled pass rusher. Who should see were? He ends up going in the draft will get into team fits a little bit later on any episode. But let's give some of these interviews. I I know you and our buddy airline had a chance to talk with Nick Bose's parents John and Cheryl Bosa, and if those don't know his dad John Bosa former first round pick played three seasons in the NFL. So it's not just Joey Votto. So got his dad, John and his mother, Cheryl who's very interesting to talk to. So here's your interviews. You and land sitting down with John Bosa and Cheryl Bosa. So excited to have the man who has created quite

"It really is something that assessments in shorts and a tee shirt can alter the entire draft in some folks perception, but that's the nature of a pro day and Ohio State has plenty to offer. Top MC shake specs three buckeyes to go in the first round. And even with all of that talent, he has one dude far and away above the rest, Nick Bosa. Here's why. To me Nick Bosa on tape is the best football player in this draft. He has an understanding of how to get to the quarterback how to work off of tackles around the edges, and you see it on the tape. I mean this past year three games played in six tackles for loss and four sacks. I mean, the production has been there. It's just like Joey when he was coming out and as long as he can stay healthy. I think he's safe as it comes in terms of players in this draft. And certainly the pass rushers critical to. Let's see what I stake has to say. James with high picks in the twenty one thousand nine hundred draft should pay attention today. Ohio state's pro day Buckeye stars. Nick Bosa join Haskins will work out for the NFL personnel and Columbus like our very own Louis Riddick today holding things down there. Yeah. What's going on low? Louis. Can you hear us? Can't hear us. I really want to talk about the giants and their quarterback situation. But I guess we need to pause on that for a moment. So max, I'm going to bring this up to you. So Todd mcshay has Haskins going six overall the giants. And then our Diana Rossini is reporting that the giants aren't interested in any quarterback with that pick. I just want you to know that I'm having a little zainy. I'm stressed. I would say what do you think is really going gentleman has achieved the level where he is made such bad decisions that you genuinely don't know if he's bluffing or not what do you mean by blend that that may actually work to the giants favor. The move to trade ode L and pick up the draft pick. Ideally, you don't wanna have to use that first round pick to jump ahead of a team to grab Haskins. So what you would do if you think you're being slick, and at this point Gettleman may actually be slick because his reputation is so bad that people don't they think maybe he actually doesn't like a quarterback in this draft is to leak to a member of the press that you really don't like any of the. Quarterbacks in this draft, and you have to put on a whole show and the whole organization it can't just be one. It has to be several because seen as an excellent reporter. But, but if you really present the idea or the sense that you don't like any of the quarterbacks in the draft. Then maybe a team doesn't have to use a draft pick to jump ahead of you in the draft if they like Askins, and therefore you keep your first round pick draft Haskins at six in the bluff, and then use that first round pick seventeen overall to get another impact player that very may be what cattleman is doing. Because it's the only thing to meet it really makes sense. Okay. What do you think's going on here? You just heard may Todd mcshay has Haskins going six to the giants..

"But see the reason de que is talked about. So highly is I mean, if you miss them on the press, he's gone gone. He's gone, and he shown the ability the catch radius thing it's real with him. And so I don't get it. He is BP SP when he when he is hitting the gear he goes past you, and it it comes down to how your basketball team is constructive meeting. Your y receive record do you have enough different kinds of players to enhance and elevate him. Meaning I have a route runner. I have another playmaker. He is the guy that is going to come in. And be my specialists, I'm going to audible right here on D line. We're gonna talk quantum Williams. I think you can't talk about Clinton ways versus Nick Bowes. I'm gonna say, Josh, Alex. I think. This is a real. I think it's a real argument to oh, I think so I and that's why I'm gonna go Josh Allen. 'cause I got Josh Allen ahead of everyone else. Saw the Nick Bosa stands, and I like Nick Bosa when I watched them I thought. Yeah. The he's a good player. I'm gonna put them like fort in the stress. What put everyone's telling you know, and this. Yeah. And the group thing so early on that's small you heard about was doing like a group think tank is Nick says guy. He's number one. Yeah. I I love Nick Bosa, but I'm gonna go Josh Allen. If it's if it's both versus Allen, I'm gonna go Josh. And I recognize this as high risk high reward much more so than Nick Bosa, but you know, what I want go get a guy who is learning how to Russia passer. I know that you've got a guy who already knows how Nick both. I get that. But Josh Allen this year. Seventeen sacks in the SEC. He learned a little move, and you can see it on tape. Somebody taught him this third step come with the inside hand shop. Oh, yeah. And you can always you know, it's timed up to where they're throwing their punch, right? When your hand shots, boom. And he just destroyed Dennis ruin Dennis daily. But Dennis bounce back yet he really bounce back. Great after that that game against Kentucky. And he told me he learned a lot from that. Because he got so embarrassed by that. But I long lever guy who's just learning to Russia passer. I'm taking him out of coverage understand Kentucky. He can do it. But I'm putting them. I mean, I'm getting after the quarterback non stop. And I'm seeing if he could be the next album and Smith, and I'm talking about the good stuff. Yeah. I like to but I but why lever guy? But like, here's the thing. Here's what I was was dude who could get out in space to autumn was dude who get paid. I'll tell you. I had a lower grade on autumn because that last year, Missouri. He played more inside. It wasn't like a like a five technique as opposed to standing up and coming off to it. But when I look at Allen the first thing that stands he plays heart loved a motor loved the the energy. He plays with a like the first quickness and explosives comes off to edge and the. When I talked to some strength coaches at Kentucky. They look, man. Do get a little snap to them super explosive athlete. He's kind of a self made, man. He is learn how to become a dominant player, I think it shows out when you saw him in the bowl game against Penn State, man..

"But you gotta make a tough decision if you're staring Nick Bosa, and or Cornyn Williams and say, you know, what I'm gonna pass on this guy who I think is going to be an absolute stud for the next ten years and move back and get a guy that I really like and then a couple of other guys. So it's gonna be interesting to see the decision making from the top five teams in that regard, Oakland Raiders included. You know, we all we all know what Oakland has to do that. I mean, they I think they need to keep their picks. First of all, I think you keep all three picks. I if I'm Oakland the only way this thing is getting fixed is if Gruden believes Derek Carr, if not then we are totally you know, doing an overhaul here. And if you're gonna take one of the quarterbacks at four you've wasted the opportunity to put a player around their car. I I've never been the biggest Eric Carr fan. And I don't want to even get in the conversation about not worth to say. Let's. But if but if if you're being fair to him, you gotta give them a second year. I think in the system because he's had very little continuity. You're rip away the best pass rusher on the team. You're rip away his number one receiver. I think if you're going to rebuild you give him a chance to be part of it for a year. If he doesn't make progress which he did show a little bit of late and season, then you move on. But to rip their car outta here. Bringing a new quarterback. I mean, you're literally starting from scratch, and it doesn't make a ton of sense to me when if you think you have a solid starting quarterback. And you look at this, and you can get come away with Josh Allen and Ed rusher in the first round and then later on the picks twenty four and twenty seven go get a wide receiver and a cornerback. Now, all of a sudden, you have some pieces to the puzzle together with the quarterback I- I- moving on from car and going trying to get Cuyler Murray or Dwayne Haskins or one of these quarterbacks to me. Seems ridiculous at this point. Am my point would be Kyle Murray would be the one he's kind of the wild card that would interest Gruden if he were there. I don't think he will be. But I think when you look at their car this year's a right offered their their car Gruden comes in you got to rookie starting attack a one at which Colt Miller was banged up. Most of the year the interior was banged up. You straight away your CVS nothing. They're they're a car. Well, thrown out. He gets wrote down the field. He's got a strong arm..

Hour 2: Mel Kiper Jr's NFL draft predictions

"Mel kiper junior into the show. What's up melt? Hey, guys, how you doing? Good. All right. So number one overall. Mel you have Nick Bosa going to the cardinals. You've heard the things cliff Kingsbury has said about collar Murray, he's a big fan. But he's also said Josh Rosen is our guy. So how confident are you about the cardinals going Bosa at one do guys with a mock draft you call around and you get different opinions. You try to build some type of a consensus. Steve drafted Josh Rosen. I thought he held his own for getting no help you seems like the players in that locker ROY believe in him you move forward. Josh Rosen would have a higher grade than any quarterback in this draft. If you go basically apple apple, and you try to reject a year with a year experience where they would be. But I think they're happier with Josh Rosen than they would have been a quarterback including Tyler Perry. Tyler Murray is still five nine five ten and size body type or still some things at the combine and pro day, and he's going to have to answer to give up on Josh Rosen and go that direction. I don't see it happening based on the people have spoken to. So I went with both. Over Josh Allen. That's going to be the debate the trait outta there. Do you tape boasts Allen right now, it seems like Bosa may be the lead who knows internally with their thinking. But trading out of there for team. Let's go out and get Askins. Maybe something maybe interested in listening to Mel. I'm very surprised by that draft. Order Nick Bosa is the is the foolproof, right? He's going to be a stud, but people felt that way about Nick last year. Sorry, Bradley Chubb last year, he's the best Pash rusher by so much you might as well, get them. There question marks about everyone including including. Cleveland Browns quarterback acre Mayfield, including Gregor Mayfield. Sam darnold everyone. So they're going to go, Bradley choke with not only didn't go Bradley Chubb. They went to the talented quarterback, you know, out of the big twelve who they had questions about right? Isn't that Keiler Murray this year, and isn't Nick Bosa basically, Bradley up? Well, Trump had a great year and shove ended up going to a team that utilize him and put him out there with Miller and he's a tremendous player. Tremendous young man, he's going to have a huge future and the ratio that I think when taken the war, Denzel word overcharged was what Cleveland was kind of debating there. Do you take the corner the pass rusher and put him opposite Garrett? They thought Ogbeh would come on. He didn't. But that was a decision obeyed word played well till he got hurt. I think we look at at Murray Murray is different in that he's five nine and a half. He's not six foot and a half to twenty like Baker Mayfield was and is I think that body type when you think about we've never seen before we've seen Baker Mayfield types. Okay. Before we haven't seen Cuyler Murray fight go this SARS, no conflict Kyle Murray. Guys. There's none. So I think we've talked. The number one pick four pick even a first round pick for that matter. I've at thirteen to Miami you've never seen this ever happened before. So I think some answers may become at the combine when you see him as he looked like he can hold up. It looks those guys in the eye. Does he looked like an NFL quarterback putting on a board? You know, it's football IQ should be really good the hand size people. Always look at that nine is that is that there you can do it or you can't will see hand size with collar Murray comes in at so still some things that'd be determined the answers. I got back from that question. This week is was leave Cuyler Murray at thirteen don't move him up that seems to be fair for right now in the process is that you say that Mel just this morning. We learned we got some news. Peter King was speak into Lincoln Riley, the coach at OU, and he said that ninety one percent of the past column Murray through from the pocket while at OU last season ninety one percent of this passes were from floor from Nepal. So when you look at him in comparison to Dwayne has its handicap that us was break that down. What makes? What one quarterback better than the other for the next level in light of that ninety one percent there column, right? That's a great point. Because I think you look at how do you compare? I don't remember one man's L came out. I said he's a wild card even out liar. I don't know what he's going to be Baker Mayfield. Last year was the wildcard big three. We knew it was Josh Allen Sam darnold. Josh Rosen maker Mayfield was the wild card this year the wild card again is Kyle Murray. So you compare him to Haskins asan's as a traditional guy. Everybody knows what you're getting there. Even though he was one year as a starter. We don't know we're hoping I think if you draft him say at thirteen or wherever in the first round, you hope that today's NFL okay with the shotgun so deep getting that shotgun snap not under center, basically in space Todd mcshane's but talking about the statute great set more passes batted down for six foot and over quarterback than six foot and under quarterbacks like Cuyler Murray. So today's NFL makes this happen. It's kind of the perfect storm for him coming out at the right time and the right situation. So there's going to be able to protect his body. He can slide. We know that we know how lightning quickie. Yes. That is in the back. Of his Eddie senses things that nobody else. Can't you mentioned the pocket of build? That's underrated part. He will sit in that pocket. He will wait he'll go through progressions. And he's tremendously accurate. His completion percentage. Was right. Where Mayfield was and he accounted for more touchdowns this season. The Baker Mayfield did during his great year two seasons ago. So I said three months ago collar Murray six foot tall five eleven. It's no discussion. He's the number one pick. But at five nine and a half, it makes it interesting. So let's go to the other quarterback that people are talking about many projected to the giants including you at sixth Wayne Haskins. You said something interesting to me earlier, you said that that Sam darnold. Did you say Sam darnold would've sorry? Josh Rosen would've graded out as the best quarterback in this draft to me Dwayne Haskins looks like a better prospect than Josh Rosen or even probably Sam darnold does not as mobile as Sam darnold. How what do you think of where does Haskins rate and all this? Why wouldn't you give him a great underwear? Josh Rosen was less. Year. Well, they were better quarterbacks coming out. I think that those guys were elite we had talked to years ago about those guys even before they were in the draft that they would have come out earlier. They would have been highly. They were they were considered special. And they said back in August prior to those kids coming out last year that in August that it wouldn't set up well for those and they were Josh Allen, Los everything around them. Sam darnold loss a lot around him. And Josh Rosen was that UCLA where they didn't have a ton of talent. So it wasn't set up for those guys to live up to all the hype in terms of the numbers and the way they were expected to take over and dominate gains and be spectacular. So people were kind of wondering over radium. No, you weren't there. Great quarterbacks. And I thought the people in the league is that these guys this year be thankful if you're those teams you got those quarterbacks they're better and every team in the first round from Lamar Jackson won the Baker and everybody in between those guys are thrilled to have. And they don't have to worry about this Dwayne Haskins a one year starter. That's it. And he had a little trouble struggles rowing the Penn State game. But I like the fact he got better. He learned a seems like he's going to be all in to be a quarterback. He loves the challenge and the pressure that comes from being a quarterback. But so criticism of him to say those guys better those guys were considered super elite and special entities for a two year period. So that's not a critique Dwayne Haskins or or taking a shot. Joe Dwayne Haskins on that's a fair thing to say those three. And then you throw Baker Mayfield John Dorsey number one. Look what happened. He emailed that pick. They can own that division for the next ten years because of this draft and because of getting Baker Mayfield Bubills love Josh ninety five and five they weren't a games. He started to finish. You can Nate Sam darnold. Look what he did in the last month of the season. Look around more Jackson games. He wants those teams guys are thrilled that they know they got the right quarterback for a long long time. And hopefully for Baltimore. Lamar Jackson the passing has improved. But from from winning, and the attitude they're all in on the March access by those teams are really happy where they are right now quarterback

"Drop out of school. And prepare for the NFL draft. He's not going to make an effort to come back this season. He's not going to try to get back in time for the bowl game or anything like that. He's going to he's not only quitting the team. He's dropping out of school altogether. And he's just going to prepare for the draft. And his coaches fine with it. Urban Meyer who also let him sit out a bowl game last year to protect himself because he didn't want to injure himself for the NFL draft was cool with that too. So are we reaching a new level here in college football in particular, where not only are they playing college football to get to the NFL? But now in some cases, they're not playing college football in order to get to the NFL new Loman creeping to that point. I remember miss year ago two years ago, Leonard fournette and McCaffrey to running back from Sanford didn't play in their bowl game to protect their draft. As remember these guys were big. Didn't last right. But these guys like they just made your bullets if they were the first ones to do it. Then both did it last year. So that was a creep in a little bit. Now. Now, you got creep, and I can see a guy leaving if the team is to in eight or whatever, and you know, why come back. I'll just get ready stations continue for national championship there. Right in the mix. This team could be ready to go. Download school. He's people to game the scholarship. He's lend down. He's letting everybody down and the coaches lesson go away. I don't think. That's right. Well, this right, depending on who you believe this comes from his father. So I don't know. He's saying that his recovery would take so long that he wouldn't be back in time for the bowl game. Anyhow, I don't know if that's true or not his father is a former player in the NFL who had his career ended after three years because knee injuries. So he's obviously very sensitive to this. And he wants to get his kids into the NFL and get paid before an injury might happen. And here an injury has already happened to Nick Bosa to me the other part of this. You didn't even mention Kenny is that he just dropped out of school. So I mean how obviously he could care less about going to college. There's nothing nothing in his core injury. That would keep them from getting to class, right, buddy. Say well, what's the point of being in school? If I'm not gonna play football. It is October. Okay. The draft isn't until April. But I just think that this is more and more just becoming glaringly obvious point that college topnotch college players are only there. There to get an NFL career. And now, they don't even have to play pretty soon. Kenny, it's going to get to the point. They're already missed the bowl games. If injured I'm not gonna go. What happens if you're you're really great all American player. But for whatever reason your team is foreign foreign. You say, you know, what we're not going anywhere. We're gonna get in some crap bowl game that I don't care if I go to or not I'm not playing the last two games of the season. I'm just gonna sit it out. Right. I don't need to give back from some urban Meyer, probably fine with that. Because what is urban Meyer ultimately interested in next year's he's already paying. And if he if he looks like the kind of guy who will get you to the NFL, no matter what he's gonna get that five star recruit. So that's why he's cool
