"But studies have shown that doctors have anti fat bias to in one survey of four hundred doctors. Almost twenty percent admitted that they disliked or were disgusted by obese patients. Studies have found. That patients are picking up on this. They're like yeah. I can tell and they tell researchers that doctors are crappy to them which makes them not wanna go in one person. We reached out to said that she was afraid to go to the doctor. Because of this we also hear stories of doctors being so focused on a patient's weight that they totally miss serious health problems like janet told us about this one woman named rebecca but initial symptom. That made her go to. The doctor was that she was having trouble. Breathing and several physicians attributed her difficulty breathing to her body mass index. They said you're obese. That's why he can't breathe. You need to lose some weight. Come back later. And in actuality rebecca had was lung cancer. That's really terrifying. It is okay. So where does this leave us. Well for people with higher beam is we do see an increase in some conditions like diabetes and some cancers and mobility problems but this is far from universal. Lots of fatter people are perfectly healthy. And of course some skinnier people are unhealthy. A few scientists told me that it's best to think of a high bmi as just one risk factor not the be all end all generally though if we could wave a magic wand and make everyone on earth a normal bmi we probably would be healthier. The problem is harry potter has been canceled. There is no magic wand and weight. loss's super hard. In fact only something like one in five people who tries to lose weight can lose it and keep it off so given that it probably makes more sense to stop obsessing over the scale and pay more attention to our behaviors. but we're eating. And how much removing for example. One dutch study followed overweight and obese. People for fifteen years and found that those who got lots of exercise had no increased heart disease risk and a bunch of other studies find similar things. That healthy behaviors cut down lots of problems regardless bmi for me personally all this made me realize there was no reason to freak out when i crossed over into this overweight category. "There's always plenty to learn from them because clearly they've done something right. Nick bell started his first successful business with just three hundred fifty dollars in the bank for years ago. He sold that marketing business for thirty nine million dollars since then he's grown. He's portfolio of global agencies to twelve with services ranging from digital marketing to the removal of unwanted content online. But i'm particularly interested in how he spots opportunities in the tech sector. Welcome to grade. Sean thanks have needs could be on board. I i wanted to talk a little bit about some of your own businesses. Had he takes three hundred fifty dollars and ten thirty nine million dollars. Look that was that business actually meant to be a side hustle in nearly days it was just meant to supplement my income because my other business wasn't into all the time and thankfully people trusted within marketing and business grow organically and it just grew into absolute into your business within a few months. A lot of it was luck and timing and ten years later. It's it into different. Based i can say what timing. You're in the right space at the right time is definitely it was definitely taught. This is two thousand night digital was just starting to to brim and the other players in the market were completely ever charging and offering very little intended. Kpi's and guarantees. I came into look. I'll give you better quality service better. Kpi's better guarantees at a better price so it wasn't really wasn't hard to really take market share back in the markets changed now but back then it was very easy. I and you must have worked very hard. Actually hard for a kid. Like i'll be on a first date with something with the gill. And if league came in the stock a day all the lane and buy into the cells. Coal didn't mind whether it was a day to a family. Dinner was always on weekends as it doesn't matter you a single for that period nick but single that period i can understand why now i was happy to work from seven to eleven. Like it wasn't worth. It was actually enjoyment. Because i love seeing something from nothing so it was. It was a really good time. I say you've got so many different companies and agencies on the go at the moment. Are they all pretty much in that digital spice out. Yeah so we've got almost everything covered from software development app development reputation management content removal digital marketing. Basically the works and the reason vein if we win a client. We don't want to give them one service ill-equipped everything in the repertoire that you need. We don't line yeah. I k- so like to talk about digital removal. In a moment head you pick which companies to buy. What are you looking for.

"Kate did brighty of jobs on the police department. I think our stint as the street eight narcotics undercover officer was probably the most exciting and certainly the most dangerous although she did spend some time as a bomb dog handler and that was probably the most interesting because she was the supervisor over the Canine Unit. And other Bob Donc bomb sniffing dogs and she was also responsible for training the dogs. And there's a lot of interesting stuff. We may have to do a whole episode on training bomb dogs because that is some interesting stuff. Kate Dilawar tappers just a little bit about your career while Gary. Yes I worked Edna St Narcotics Unit which was quite interesting. You never know how that's GonNa go until you're out doing it and Being a bomb dog handler was one of the best experiences I've ever had to watch dog work and to know how they work is just an incredible experience in an in all mine. There are some times it my bomb dog handler experience as well as My dog is a patrol dog. So they're both dual-purpose dogs and to have a dog find the bad person. And you think that you should be going one way and your dogs telling you go another way and your dog is more right than you are nine times out of ten. It's a very humbling experience interesting. So as a patrol dog that Doug had to be able to track people through its sense of smell and then when he caught him. What did he do? Well yes they track them through their sense of smell so there it's an there they track human. I'm an odor so their air scent dogs so once they get onto that human odor and they lock into it. They have a tendency to turn their head and pull you right to where that suspect effect is hiding and then they engage them. Biding them well. That's a good for the suspect. No not so much. A pain compliance. That usually usually works okay. I remember what I was older by. last dance patrolling. I'm chasing this burglar through some backyards parts. Of course he's already way out in front of me and hopping fences and and I'd lost sight of him and offs. And I'm thinking well. This is just some kid Jason and all of a sudden I realized you know In my experience that this does not have to necessarily be a a hundred and ten pound your fifteen fourteen year old kid. This could be a grown man. It in here. I am all by myself. I don't know where anybody is. That's when you want those patrol Doug succumbing to save your but yes you certainly do especially Ashley when your dog does have somebody in their engaged with them and you realize they're six foot five three hundred and fifty pounds then. You're very thankful that you have a dog with you. You're really really. What do what those dudes do? Is They outdistance you a little bit. And then they'll stop and wait for you to run by and that's when you're in a heap trouble they wouldn't you. Don't I know where they are. And they're hiding and read up on you run right by them and you can be in the treble dog will. Dog Will Not run right by them. Willie now sure won't interesting. Well we we'll have to learn a lot more especially about the training bomb dogs. I think that's that's fascinating and and how you do that. How you can train dogs to sniff out these different things in In the Obfuscation that's a twenty five dollar lawyer word. Isn't it the the ways that people try to disguise the smell the of narcotics and and I suppose a sophisticated person that planted a bomb could Try to wrap a bomb with pepper or some other kind of of a of a material that would hide the smell of the explosives in it. Would that be right yes they do but you can't disguise the smell of what dogs trained to eventually they'll work to that source in and they will alert on it so they'll get to it eventually. Yes interesting interesting. Well that'd be a whole show for sure tonight. We're going to talk about the famous Appalachian Meeting. I've heard a lot about this meeting over the years. You MOF fans out there. We'll know exactly what I mean when I say the Appalachian meeting now first of all. We have to make sure that we're saying right. I always and I think a lot of people have always. It's called it. Would this the Appalachian meeting in upstate. New York of mob bosses from all over the country are mob boss. Nick Bell from Kansas City was caught there but I noticed our frequent guest retired. FBI Agent Bill Ouseley always said Appalachian and I looked it up. And you know that's the way you're supposed to say it is not Appalachian. It's it's Appalachian so we will call this. The Appalachian Meeting This famous meeting has.

"You are listening to gangland wire hosted by former kansas city. Police intelligence unit detective jerry jenkins wire-tappers out there. I guess i feel guilty after shorten y'all for the whole month of july. I'm gonna give you a second bonus episode here in august. This is kind of self serving. I guess first of all don't forget to hit me up on vin mo- app. Jinx law is the code by a cup of coffee shot and a beer. I know mark ryan just hit me up again. Thanks mark <hes>. Here's what i want to talk about today. I'm looking for some help this. Is there any video people out there that what i want i'm doing. I'm working on a documentary about the savannah sparrow gang more in the nineteen seventies of of which i was kind of in the middle of surveillance officer back in those days but i'm done some reenactment footage and i'm shooting just with a regular h._d. H._d. camera some of it even with my phone. Vote is as good as any camera. It seemed like and i want to be able to put some kind of a quick process on this reenactment footage like of of men standing around a truck trailer unloading stuff from <hes> the show a <hes> you know men stealing from truck docks. I want to show show people sitting around meetings. Just show hands. You know smoking cigarettes and doing things like that. I wanna show somebody building a bomb making a pipe bomb and some things like that and so. I put all this footage into one stream of h._d. Footage and i need somebody to put some kind of a process on that. Kinda age the the footage a little bit. I don't want it really extreme. I don't want look like it was home video or shot with a you know an eight millimeter camera. Nothing like that just something to give it that kind of seventies of t._v. Maybe <hes> v._h._s. Look <hes> something the takes out that h._d. <hes> a fact that that is so noticeable so if anybody's out there would like to help me with that hit me up at <hes> <hes> gangland wire at g. dot com make i put a clip upon my <hes> gang lenoir facebook page to see what kind of video that we're talking about but this is just me following the truck as if the and we're talking about you know the narrator or one of my experts by talking heads we'll be talking about setting up up trucks trailers to be hijacked that kind of thing <hes> hit me up on my facebook page or my email or make a comment on this post on my <hes> website and i appreciate all you guys getting a lot of feedback here lately people asking questions and interacting with may not like that that so try to interact with me. It's it makes it more worthwhile making no money out of this to speak up but it's a lot of fun i like interacting with all you mob fans out there and i'll tell you a a little bit about this documentary and little bit about this mob word. You might wanna go back to some of my first few episodes. If you don't remember or you've never listened to the first few episodes and i talk about the civil versus spiro war well. This is what i'm making the movie bound and and in that i don't really go too much into detail about the elvis brother other knicks barrel who was killed exit before i went in the intelligence unit was killed and i believe nineteen seventy three and that was the start of this war basically basically also trying to come up with a name right now. I've got last brother standing. It's it's two brothers nick and court sevilla who were a traditional mob bosses and they go into war against the spiro brothers knicks bureau karl spiro mike's bureau and jonesboro and and that actually there's nobody standing by the end of that in modern times but but there are a lot of people get killed during this time <hes> <hes> so if you've got an idea about a mob war between brothers in the nineteen seventies why hit me up with that that title suggestion to <hes> is this kind of the story of the ruling sabella brothers as i said nick bell and then the upstart young turks the spiro brothers nick mike joe and carl <hes> basically this was a generation gap play down in the mall mob. Were you know a lot of when you came of age. In the sixties ended the seventies there was a big distance between us and our parents in our parents generation and part of it was drugs part of it was wiz emotive dress <hes> the vietnam war well the same thing played out in in the mafia here in kansas city it kinda play down in the the daddy green a mob war in cleveland also is young upstarts wanted to move in and and have more of a piece of the action and have more important jobs and and and make more money and the old guys wanna keep everything close to them and traditional now and the oh school next bella and his brother caucus of allah were born born in the early nineteen hundreds and the young turks borough sparrows were all born around world war two <hes> and dislike the baby mike i said elect baby boomers resisted <hes> our previous generations conservative values and implants on society is spiritual. The spiro brothers resisted the conservative mafia leadership ship with us a quick overview is how this began the eldest brother knicks bureau was coming of age in the late fifties fifties a career criminal <hes> all day basically all he does is steel he he's <hes> a joins a mob connected robbery crew and they travelled around the country robin grocery stores now back in the seventies and eighties that was a pretty good gig because if you remember before a._t._m.'s and debit cards and and all that everybody used to cash their checks grocery stores so a grocery store easily around payday would have twenty twenty five thousand dollars which was pretty good <hes> a score much better than robert a bank because you didn't have to deal with the feds either they would fly to other parts of the country in particular they were flying down to texas go to houston for example rabba rava groceries door <hes> have a rented car dumped the rented car pro name trump the rent car off. They'd mail them guns in the money back and take the plane back. Now they got caught <hes> up here in kansas city and next borough was part of one of these and and the guy that got caught because package broke open was a man unnamed sam palmer who was a pretty close <hes> connected <hes> mob guy to the old traditional <hes> mouth to this avella family and tap needling donahue was underboss <hes> he decides is grandpa guilty and the night before he's scheduled plead guilty. Somebody murdered him now. Now we don't know who but unknown person set this murder up to lip black. It was suicide in many mob. Informants implicated knicks barrel out. This must have been what that the <hes> what allen hierarchy one they must've been afraid that he was gonna do something <hes> in order to get rid of him just before he was gonna report <hes> plead guilty they probably would have just taken more that day <hes> because <hes> next borough now kinda seemed to graduate and he is he gets a job on a at the national truck line yellow freight on the docks and he sets up a scheme team and i just see bellows sevilla's hand behind this game he hijacks he here allows a or he sets up a eh trailer load of liquor to be stolen then next bureau goes to management and yellow freight security and says i can get this trailer back and shortly after that he locates entire trailer minus a few cases of booze of course his <hes> his trouble. I'm sure whoever helped him and turns back into and management though yellow freight management says hey this guy's great <hes> they're pretty grateful and they ended up promoting him to a position of authority and that gives him access to all the truck schedules schedules cargo manifest and even he got himself in a position where he's even kinda. Give a voice and whether or not employees will be prosecuted. He was kind of their their liaison. The amazon with the unofficial liaison with the union i it seems to me like in the mob and the and the criminals working on the yellow freight truck lines and there was a bunch of the time the teamsters union we're totally mob dominated and help people get jobs that was part of their power well after next barrel gets in this job abi l. afraid start noticing that there's more and more trailers and merchandise and this is like smaller <noise> <unk> items like electric knives perfume batteries film booze are missing and these are easy defense items you just get a trailer load of that and take it to another city and and another mob will have some of these independent stores out here little happy to take that off their hands at trailer load of that <hes> take that off their hands and they'll get it for like fifty cents on the dollar turnaround seller for seventy five cents on the dollar learn and everybody's happy. <hes> neck is kinda. They start noticing all these things are missing and and my nurse time they they suspect him but he's kind of hard to fire because his mop connections through the teamsters union finally yellow freight will pay him a case settlement just to resign while he moves on to run in the jewelry theft ring and and actually his youngest brother karl spiro was the team leader <hes> he gets another teamsters job and he's so popular. He's elected union. Steward has is a part-time job with a mob connected bending company and intimidate s- stores and bars in installing this company's vending machines. He is a young mobster on the management draft right. He is on the rise <hes> but at the same time this is when this by then we're after the later sixties and this is one when the generation gap rears its head neck spiro is kind of a a younger charismatic leader of men and he's also affecting the look and dress of other people of his generation <hes> in other words he grows his hair out long as sports large fu manchu mustache josh he's even seen wearing kind of flowery bell bottom pants and colorful shirts look like a hippy as one guy said he who is guy looks like a fucking hippie <hes> now the conservative nixon valez always dictated that none of his men shall have facial hair now. That's you know believe that or not and i bet that's an every other mob family in the country. During this time time it was like an unwritten rule that nobody grew beers or mustaches and they all wanna dress like nick and he always dressed with address your slacks and maybe a snap brim have had or fedora and nick and corky who ran our our crime family that that's how they dress and that's how all their hey guys dressed now. <hes> informants will start reporting that knicks about does not really like her trust this next barrow because of this dress and in and more importantly because they've demeanor next bureau next. I get the next mixed up next avella. The boss is quiet in in <hes> professional and and he he he knows people but he's not out in the joints. He really is like a businessman of c._e._o. Of the company that runs a company while nick zero he's young and loud and flamboyant and the younger guys see him as a leader and he becomes kind of a threat to into the old line because of that plus there everybody's denigrating because the ways dresses they br- they even think that start rumors that he's probably maybe dealing in drugs because because that's the deal with the hippies you know they'll do drugs and he's probably dealing in drugs and and <hes> lacking they say he walks out on bar tabs and and things like that so you know it's just like any time you're out in an organization. He's out in this organization. Everybody starts starts going for him and coming up with rumors about about about how they're coming up with rumors denigrating and these attributes that had been kind of flamboyant and and a leader among on his peers in the criminal underworld those are great for the boss above him if he can control a man but a nick this case he cannot control next barrel..

"Kevin Durant practicing head of game five could we see him on the court? He's listed as questionable although ESPN's Nick bell says, let's take with a grain of salt played. I just watched him walk out of the arena, a few minutes ago. Let me let me paid this picture for you, as we get kicked out of the lower bowl airing Toronto here comes Kevin Durant. Well, I had actually going to use the restroom at I'm walking back in the tunnel underneath where the seats are in here comes Kevin Durant. Probably I'd say twenty minutes after he made his way on the floor for the first time. So I stood there for a while. I'm white used to get a walk back out on the floor when there's, there's five for him to go back with some of the younger guys who, who are active in the playoffs and get some scrimmage time in. Why start to see Raymonde and the rest of the warriors players come back to the locker room will sort of the younger players? So whatever Kevin did if anything wasn't much at all guys in as he comes out of a locker room. He's walking out of watering with Mike Brown, the warriors assistant coach in a couple of members of training staff, and you look at the back of his right leg, and he has two huge ice Beck's one us on the back lower part of his calf and kill his right achilles. So. So watching all that and realizing that he wasn't able to do much of anything at all. I would just be stunned. If Steve Kerr comes back out tomorrow, says. Yep. Kevin's gonna play. "And I can remember when I started covering the league ten twelve years ago, you come in and the warriors worth awful in. This place will be packed and it was the loudest place in the league in the last years even this arena for all its history in all the fun people's had in here. It's a little more corporate than it's been in years past is because the tickets are priced so high because they've been so good as far as moving ahead to San Francisco. The warriors have been very cautious about discussing the move because they want the the Oakland fans and the surrounding area to feel like they're part of it. Again, the reality is the amount of money to be pouring in. Into the chase center in San Francisco with all those tech companies and all the luxury suite is astronomical. So the the original fans of the fans that have followed this team for years and years a lot of them are priced out of the new place. And and that's the economics of where pro sports has been going for while, but certainly out here in the bay area. So it's gonna be really sad. And if the night is the last night, I don't think a lot of folks will be ready. So that just because it it seemed like such a foregone conclusion guys that this team would be there in the end in the final. And now there's a possibility that that may not be the case. So it's gonna hit a lot of people really hard. If the end of the game the worriers can't find a way to win. But having said that I think emotionally they know what they they know they wanna keep playing here and Steve Kerr's settles season we want to win this championship for the people in Oakland in this building one more time. So there's a lot of layers there. But I think it's gonna be rocking. In here early. The Washington supreme court will hear or arguments in June in a case to determine whether states lawmakers are currently subject to the same disclosure rules that apply to other elected officials coming up consumer reports sheets and finds a lot of shrinking problems. I'm herb Weisbaum with what else they found? No host and the ratings were up for the Oscars raising the question will we see an Oscars hosted? Again ABC's Jason Nathanson. Good enough to join us from Hollywood suggestion. Let me start with that question. What was there a direct link? Do you think between not having a host and the ratings going up? It's interesting. I mean, it's a correlation that they're definitely going to look at it. And it's something they're definitely going to think about because this year one of the one of the anomalies, though this year is I bet a lot of people tuned in at the beginning to see how it would work. Would it be a train wreck or what? So you're not gonna have that next year. But I think those people tuned in like most people did they saw the Queen opening day like that they stuck around saw Maya Rudolph Tina Fey, and Amy Poehler were very funny. Even though they were out the host, but they they gave us a little bit of that monologue taste, and then the awards started. And then after that, it was pretty much a conveyor belt of awards except for some performances here and there, and so people stuck around they liked what they saw the show is shorter about a half an hour shorter from last year, and you can correlate that directly to not having a host that was about. A half hour worth of bits and stuff that Kimmel and all those people that did before that no pizzas being ordered. So it was shorter which really, you know, on the west coast. I think we tend to forget about the fact that by the time on the east coast. They're done watching it. Yeah. The show ran a little over fifteen last year was like eleven forty five that really gets pretty late by the time. You're getting the best picture. So a lot of people stuck around for that. And they appreciated that. So you know, we could see we could see if it went up eleven percent the ratings which is big these days to go up. So they're definitely going to look at not having a host. Again, you mentioned best picture. It goes to green book, Spike, Lee and others not exactly thrilled about that. Of course, spikes movie by clansman was up for best picture. Here's what he had to say about the green book win. No. I thought was court cited the garden rough made a bad call. Anyway, he had a good sense of humor about it. But I think his frustration was honest what what's your what's your take on the controversy is the right word. But anyway to the green book victory. Well, I mean, good good sense of humor there for Spike Lee. But he definitely made his feelings known that he thought it was a bad call the dome one, and that's the feeling among a lot of people green book was was tainted. It was a little bit into the whole award season. By a couple of things race controversy over the just the subject matter itself. A lot of people felt it was kind of a white savior movie. Again, even though I you know, I don't know if that's a fair comparison. But a lot of people felt that way there was some controversy over the family of Dr Don, Shirley, who was played by marshal Ali saying that the film was basically lies about to their family member. There was issues with the writer Nick bell longer into tweet that he had. And so that really heard it I thought throughout the Oscar voting time because it made it very tough for them to campaign in order to win an Oscar you have to campaign. It's like, you know, an election ABC's Jason Nathanson, joining us from Hollywood. Jason. Thanks so much..

"Eighty s the trade deadline. That's. Radar in the immediate future. The next eleven and a half hours here, but it's potential moves this summer that were thrust into the front of the line on Wednesday warriors drill the Spurs by thirty nine Golden State with a forty nine point third quarter. They hit seventeen of their twenty two shots in that third quarter Seventy-seven percent clip from the floor. But then came the post game. Warriors one. Kevin durant? Not happy with the recent coverage and speculation about his future and whether he'll land in New York. He decided to talk with reporters. After Wednesday's rather talk at reporters. Why do I got to talk to you? Tell me does that is that gonna help me do my job better. I talk I just don't trust. And every time I say something get twisted up in throwing out in so many different publications tried to tell me down with my words, I say, so when I don't say nothing. That's a problem. I just want to play ball. I want to go to the gym and go home. That's all that a problem. How are you playing house a team plane? I'm done. Care about this. I just asked him. Oh about thirty seconds of a two to three minute dressing down of reporters who were on hand post game on Wednesday. ESPN warriors reporter, Nick bell was among them. I was sitting there and listen back to it here. It was just as awkward. Was it? I mean, everybody was kind of cringing in that room. Like, oh boy. Here we go. It got to this point though, because Kevin hadn't spoken to beat writers in about a week. And it should be noted here. Kevin Durant has been unbelievably accessible for a superstar his caliber all year. It was just once that Nick deal went down. We didn't hear from him. And for a guy who always is available at always talks to not hear from him. He had done some national outlets and some national interview for we hadn't talked to him and the speculation abounded. I think Steph curry put it best after the game. Kevin king control is own message. And I think that really drives them crazy. He was sick of people talking about him potentially going to the Knicks. But by not talking in this case and not putting out the fire a few days ago. He just made it worse and worse and that frustration that has been built throughout the year and the speculation that he deals with his teammates deal with is coaches. The I. You all saw that come out here just a little while ago. And it's going to be something that certainly will be discussed for awhile. And we'll be remembered throughout the year. No matter where he ends up going this summer. All right. So there's still a lot of season left and reporters still have to report. So what's going to happen? Now. I think his teammates in his coaches are going to keep a very close eye on what he says and what he does. But STAN I've been around this team all season long. I truly don't think this is going to impact them that much. These guys all know they're playing for history. They know every time they step out on the floor. Durant is going to be there, and he's going to show up and give a professional effort. He still wanted the best players in the game that talk isn't gonna stop. But maybe in some strange way for this group. Maybe it's good for them that this happened. Now not into the playoffs. A little before the all-star break. Everybody can cool off this has been brewing for a while internally. Like, he's sick of reading all the speculation. But Kevin Durant knows. When they go to play when this group goes to play the plan for history. And if they go win a third title in a row, and he wins, a third straight finals MVP that will do plenty of talking certainly the questions about his future going to be there. But he can't control what he can control by coming out and play in the same way on the floor and on the floor Wednesday Durant curry and Thompson combined for sixty eight points and seventy one percent shooting from the floor. They beat the Spurs by thirty nine point. Sportscenter allnight, ESPN radio pelicans made a deal Wednesday. Ahead of the trade deadline. They deal. Wesley Johnson to the wizards and get marquee Morris in return and the pelicans have not made a deal with the Lakers brandy Davis. In fact, it doesn't sound as though the pelicans even chatted with L A on Wednesday. This all by design earlier on the jumper Brian Windhorst with Rachel Nichols. Do you think that the pelicans set the Lakers up? Do you think? They were upset enough. I have no knowledge. I'm just throwing out a question that they were upset enough with what they have made clear they felt like was tampering and they felt like they were going into reach in after their player, and 'cause all this disruption in the middle of the season when they thought they had at least to this summertime. Do you think that they never intended to really engage with the Lakers that much? Kept putting out publicly all these trade offers. So that we saw last night it would ruin their team chemistry at least temporarily disrupt all their young guys make things miserable for this team. Is that possible? It's possible. It's what happened. I know the pelicans. How do I want to put this up? TV? Let's go. Now, the pelicans had a method to their madness in the way this went. No, it's gonna lead to a forty point loss because everybody's upset not necessarily. But again, I want to go back to just be space. The Marion berry situation. If the Lakers are drafted the Aaron FOX instead of Lonzo ball, and I don't want to get into all that if they had the assets that would make Anthony Davis Mitchell available. They would that the pelicans would make a trade with. I would have made trade with. I mean, look, I still think the Magic Johnson Ron Anka have room to go. I'm passing judgment on them as a front office yet. I will say this is the front office that did not trade for Paul George thought. They could get him in the summertime. This is the front office that pit Lonzo ball over there. And also, I think that the Lakers had a method to their madness to make sure what their offers were got out. So the for the next four months magic, rob Pelinka didn't have to sit around and say, well, you didn't make the best offer. I think there was there. An information. We're going on right now. Okay. It's not even necessarily just about Anthony Davis. And by the way, it's not just the pelicans and Lakers playing. There are other teams playing as well. I've never in sixteen years covering the NBA. I've never seen anything like this is fascinating. And it's not even about the trade. It's about everything that's going on around the trade. That's why there's not going to say this is why we will be on television for three hours tomorrow. Trade deadline comes up three PM eastern time, noon Pacific ahead of that pretty deadline bucks. "Up roster spot, and they'll take a long hard look at coming. But you re reported this in the past if LeBron James. Wanted to make it an issue that we need that what already happened. And so I could see him on the Lakers. But I don't think it's a sure shot by any means. So LeBron's clear to practice walking you tell us about both him and Rajon Rondo regarding when we might see them again on the court. Sunday. The Lakers even though coming off that two game road trip. They got the guys in the gym. Lebron was able to go through all the shooting drills and played some five on zero offense. The Lakers don't play again until Thursday. So you think they're going to have a real practice and Luke Walton says his philosophy. He needs to see one heart practice out of his guys when they've had an extended absence Rondo today was playing five on five, but guess what the guys who playing video coordinators equipment managers those type of guys a little bit different than play against NBA competition. But, but certainly we're in the range where you could look at the Minnesota game and say that's a possibility for one or both certainly if not that then you look home Sunday against the Phoenix Suns. So the warriors certainly different team than the one blown out by the Lakers on Christmas. How has DeMarcus cousins been received by his teammates in terms of what he can add to this championship team? Yeah. I spoke to our Nick bell who covers the warriors for SPN. And he's told me that the spirit in that locker room after the clippers game was as high as it's been all season. So I think just the fact that they get to play with their shiny new toy and it adds some levity to the season it less of a grind, you know, they've been to four straight NBA finals, it's hard to take the regular season serious. But it's very serious for DeMarcus cousins right now looking to find his rhythm with about a half as he's left to go before the playoffs. And so, you know, I think they're gonna keep riding him. You're going to see him be as efficient offensively as he was last game. Probably not are you also going to see him foul out. Probably not also. And so it's going to be a work in progress as he gets his legs under him. But all of the superstars on that. Team are excited to have a really all class center in their midst. "nick bell" Discussed on The BreakPoint Podcast

So it goes we'll Mindy is the senior editor at world news group, and you need to follow Mindy Mindy quickly. You do a weekly column. And also you're on Twitter. How can people follow you on Twitter? And especially you wanna sign up for globe trot-, and what a great transition to move from the kind of the domestic scene to the international scene. And of course, the topic is religious liberty all the watchdog groups Mindy have said for the last several years that that year is the worst year on record when it comes to persecute religious minorities and the degradation of religious. Freedom will two thousand eighteen top two thousand seventeen which topped two thousand sixteen. Are we still on that same pace? Well, it will especially if you're looking at the most populous countries in the world because what we've seen in twenty eight teen as amazing crackdown on particularly on Christians in India and China and also just unspeakable crackdown on Wieger Muslims and China, and those we could only talk about this two. Thanks, john. And we would be talking about a tremendous uptick in the level of religious oppression and violence, in fact, if we look at what's been happening to the church in China, it's been a violent crackdown, and it hasn't just been with Christians too. I mean, one of the stories that came out of China, and you talked about religious freedom is not just kind of our pet issue. Not just protecting our own. But something that applies to everyone. Well, the the China credit? I mean, we have stories of Muslims being put into reeducation camps. Now. Of course, this begs questions about, you know, our immigration policy, not taking seriously people kinda buying into what it means to be an American we know Islam at doesn't always integrate well in the west in that's an understatement with a whole lot of footnotes. But that's a real concern. I mean, this is basically rounding Muslims up putting them in reeducation camps teaching them how not to be Muslim anymore. Are the stories is bad as we've heard. I think that there probably as bad or worse on China is using leading edge technology to track and do surveillance on people like the weaker Muslims in them when they are confined to these reeducation camps that you mentioned there being subject to all kinds of things there were saying mass collection of by metric data, like voice samples and DNA were seen. Artificial intelligence used to identify and profile and track them. These are things we haven't really dealt with before. And we're talking about dealing with it on a scale of one million people. Well, yeah. Well, you also mentioned the technology piece and the restores that came out near the end of two thousand eighteen and I'd heard this before from a number of friends who have lived in China recently, or who currently travel back and forth about technology, not only being used against religious minorities. But really to kinda grade citizens and basically allow them to travel. I mean, this was like the scifi dystopia movie the account of what's happening over there. Basically, if you're a good Chinese citizen, you get Taff read them, and if you aren't than these technologies are going to be leveraged now to dramatically limit for. I just talking about religious liberty internationally and persecuted religious minorities. That's just talking about the crackdown in China on freedom in general, which almost always is related to the crackdown on religious. You don't crackdown on other freedoms and not crack down on religious freedom. They always go hand. Enhancement? They that's right. And I think state surveillance in a hands on afford Tyrian state is really scary. Chilling thing what we're seeing happening across China schools, having cameras installed inside classrooms to record things like shooting facial expression than than to track those throughout a student's life tracking..
