"Even hearing any bats hitting balls. I don't think the home team had even started batting practice yet but a woman was preparing hot. Dogs and another man was setting up his podium to put out scorecards in pencils for when the gates did open and you could tell by the look on their faces. They were hoping that the two of us walking down there that earning would come over and say hello and he didn't disappoint either one of them and he knew their first and last names and he may have made small talk but it was very important to him that they did and that was one of many life lessons that i learned from either being next to him or reading his work or reading about him and he was a focal person in my life. Well i know you've had the same impact on countless others hockey almost to a teased with that. So thank you for all you've done for our sport doc. Thank you so much This has been fun. Your father tell me about his impact on you. Oh man he would. I would say about my dad is. He gave me great advice in. It's it's not too dissimilar. From what i imagine you would give he. He was a teacher but he also various jobs in detroit. Worked on the lines worked in layout late shifts very manual labor. And he said you know i. I did a lot of things. I didn't like the this kind of the key to me. Was finding something where i love going to work and i know everyone says this right but to have your dad give you this green light to chase a job that there's zero pressure from him in my family. It was do something that you're gonna enjoy that follows your passions and we're going to support it as a family because he had lived that life and he had tried different things in realized how difficult jobs could be And it made a huge impact on me in and allowed me to chase this this dream of being in sports media and i don't know if i would have done it with you know you want you want your parents approval right and now that parallels someone else that i talked to in hockey once I was doing a devils game. At joe louis arena and they said pick somebody interview on detroit's because we need somebody for the second intermission. The first intermission was always a devil and in those years. Sometimes detroit would overwhelm new jersey on in joe louis by the time. The second intermission was done so they they felt we met her have devil on in the first near mission because people may turn us off by the time we get so anyway i chose nicklas lidstrom and it was just after the survey had. Come out the hockey news survey. That said that the players chose nick lidstrom the most respected player in sports. And so anyway. I'm sitting here. And and you know. Nick i mean he's he's the the the most. The greatest gentleman was also one of the best players in the industry. And so i said nick. I don't know how to ask you this. But i've got the hockey news survey here and it says you are the most respected player in hockey so and then i pause for a moment and i started searching for how to finish the sentence in a question. Did you have good parents. Nick and he laughed and he said i sure did and.

"Huge thanks once against Nicklas Lidstrom leanness here on spirit chocolates man great throw type him hall of Fame Mind Hall of fame player was great talking about all that Colorado rivalry shit huge thrill his again it's the pursuit of perfection. It's Nick Lindstrom Gun Nordstrom in Bob Duff it is available now pretty sure it's on Amazon check it out there is what do you got going on buddy do you have on a kid that goal by Blake Coleman on devils versus the jets that one hand to the other night a what somebody said that he's done it before whole hey you know who it was unreal at that was I don't know if he ever did it in a game fuck I'm drawn a blank Kovalyov he would like kick it e you know Kovalenko wrist like Popeye where he he used to use a small warrior stick and I think it was like one hundred ten flex and he would literally just flick his wrist. go top corner with leverage I think there's a video on youtube and there's that viral video he did with warrior of him just with like a ton of pox one hand cross like every time Popeye and reminded me of that but it's just a beautiful goal there's been some really nice goal so far this season yeah in a weekend we're already talking about golden goal the candidates save of the year candidates inside spoken now the NHL at peak NHL season right now boys every every team as a player worth watching every game is worth turning on what's up this well when we talked about crosby fighting we forgot to mention that sick apple that he had the puck was coming from off the wall where he deflected to his skate to his forehand and that no look scoop passed it that is new he knew the guy was over there yes those so sick to do that all in one motion it it it looks so much easier than it actually is crazy a nice gold Connor mcdavid had wanted to touch on the there's a little bit tips in there smitty ends up getting two wins in a row they're all right now Zac ASEAN looked awesome so happy for him that guy just comes into in wicked shape now he's off the pistol congratulations to cast and the real deal the royal here to last night we talked can you get thirty can you get thirty five this year you get two games I mean that's that's Al mcdavid mcdavid forget over the summer like when he gets it through the neutral zone it was a joke I think it'd be a shame if we didn't so grenell he's been saying some things the scenes and sometimes it gets a little nervous San the podcast because he doesn't want people chirp but before the season started he goes I got a really good feeling about Edmonton and and and you're you're you said that they're gonNA make playoffs yeah I like Edmonton a lot to shear voice I mean and now they're fox so now they're going to go to them you just fucking and buried them hey how you think the sabers look now so someone so we have someone helping us out on the twitter account sometimes on can nights and stuff and he tweeted out wagon on Samson reinhart score that set goal and I got like thirty tweets from people from buffalo You don't fucking talk about our team this year Grenell you rat fuck this all that wasn't me and I'm still buffalo guy though I still I'm still rooting for the sabres dude about the fucking Carolina hurricanes down all three games or five they come back to when I only know this because I bet against them all three games and or I'm betting against Carolina I picked the team I wanna bet and then I bet him and I got Carolina fans like Oh you picking against us like I said the I'm betting against your team I'm fucking it can the other team like stop crying but anyways Carolina's been snapping right up my who went and I talked about how even though it was hurt last year Eric Hall how how much of a difference he make a he's got three goals in three games for the canes and quickly Buffalo was mentioned I was laughing 'cause Granola just crushed another team what dude looks good and Darlene scored unreal goal the first game of the year they beat Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh which is a huge win for them he beats everyone off the ice escaping he he's as good he's as good as it looks Skatin- I mean he's he's almost as fast as as any other guy any other defense maybe so he already has four points he's GonNa be a monster this year even after last year was quietly incredible rookie year for a young demand and I talked about that Kit Sweden I play with the six snapshot he got a goal not too goals I think buffalo yeah the wagon the Chip Wall Street we won't let Grenell e bring you down you guys deserve to be here's these are sick they definitely ask shopping I just mentioned gambling a second ago so I'm busy they cut you all no problem Grenell I kinda Kinda factors into the gambling thing there's senator player that you said was going to have a pop off season and he's had a good start who was it I said rupee hints I said Gal Chang Yuck Anna up Ryan Braun has got to I think already yeah okay so so case Grenell era maybe you're better earlier in the season in Ra and you guys a couple of early games this week that haven't seen any lines in twenty get your people up to speed we did have a couple of puck line Jesus moments already big empty netter in Colorado Saturdays rosie took dimes you pick up about twenty four hundred nice forty five hundred dollars swing Five hundred thirteen game Saturday had at least eight goals and two of them had eleven goals that's why I bet those you know over nine and a half plus five hundred plus four hundred one of those it's a nice little number games on Saturday night six and a half goals per game so let's scoring going on just on Saturday nights again I don't like anything yet this week we'll be back later in the week with some picks it's been tough sled talk hey we'll get we'll get all these losses back not absolutely if I if I did quit then I would have been second Friday night I twenty I woke up right before right before the Games tipped off tweet my picks out or I actually get my pin so I never ended up not posting them and of course they had a good night but you guys see those those are the ones I send you guys so there was no one who would want to pay them back unexpected ethos and make sure your family is taken care of no matter what.

"And no he sure did so it was nothing that was talked about before the game in the locker room or or anything like that but you can you can sense that something was was for a sweet to make the hall of fame become friends with him and what kind of impact did he have on your Korea boy it was the guy I last cone up well he came back to Sweden to to finish off his career in Sweden and I had a chance to play against him for a couple years and you know getting a chance to play again in somebody I'd last he looked up was very special and then I made the team Sweden and Canada Cup nine to one and boy he was on the team as well and I was plotted defense when the tournament started but you know one of the other defenseman got hurt and all of a sudden I'm in the lineup and boreas my part owner in also had a chance to play with boy for few Games which was which was unbelievable he's he's almost like Brad macrame and became for me when I joined the wings he was that state owned investment really reliable and kind of let me do my thing and you know I had a chance to get to know him better now after when we played after my my move back to Sweden again and boy is really a great guy and a tremendous man but getting a chance to play with him was was just awesome for me rattled off a bunch of names on that Olympic Ross tons of hall of fame is obviously in Sweden the climate helps before such a small country how does that country produced so many quality any gel plays what is it about that does that yeah I think our youth program has been really strong over the years that we've been able to develop some some great hockey players and especially in the the junior ages and world juniors we've had some some great players that be able to develop I think some part of it is that if you're real real good at seventeen eighteen you can you can play in the S. H. L. which is the highest league here in Sweden so they'll let you if you're really good at the young age and want you to get a chance to play a few games here and there so we've been able to produce some great players even though we we're we're a small country and I think that use hockey's youth Swedish hockey's a big big part of that so your book out now Nicholas leads from the pursuit of perfection with goner norstrom and Bob Duff who kind of gave you the idea to do this I mean we did they have to convince you or did you were you in were you in from the beginning on getting this written and Kinda sharing career story you actually started off with a Swedish company that wanted to to give out a book with the once I retired and I I kind of held it back for a couple of years I wasn't really thinking a whole a whole bunch of doing it but once you know once I said down with them and they explain what they wanted to do I felt that this this might be fun they might be documenting my career so I start off doing one in Sweden which had a little bit more pictures at than the one I I did in the US and Canada now where there's a lot more written in it but I wanted to to document my career and goner he's a Swedish reporter living in La and following the NHL since the early nineties so he knew my my career real well Bob being from Windsor across the river from Detroit no he he's been a guy that's followed my career as well for a Lotta years I wanted to to document my career and put it in words in a book which is something I really enjoyed the pursuit of perfection is play on words of of you being called the perfect human I mean how bizarre was that when you start again the perfect Yuban in the wings while it started off drapes and Ozzy Osbourne and Kris draper started off with a forgot what we were doing in playing cards in the back of the plane but they they somehow started calling me that in the locker room and one of the reporters heard it and all of a sudden it was in the papers but I I always see just laughed at it and it's kind of a fun thing but grapes an OSCE there those are the two brains that in front of these guys they come to good we've seen a lot of guys at the end the career nick hang on goal from team to team what made you say to yourself I it's time to hang them up clearly had some game you said you decide to hang it up what was it that made you do it towards the actually the last couple years after one of the season was over I contemplating what I wanted to do if I still have the fire within two to out do another offseason a hard workouts or Dr Within me and that I did have it in in two thousand eleven but in two thousand twelve I decided that I felt that he didn't have that push anymore the wings wanted to sign me want to play another year and same with babs to Mike Babcock but I decided I wanted to play a certain level and I felt that I couldn't reach that level again and I I knew I had to be honest to myself and and that's why I decided to retire it was it was a tough decision was really hard and more emotional than I thought it would be too but you know looking back at it now I thought I I made the right decision I I kind of moved away from the game on my own terms which is Something I wanted to do so you said you're on the fence your last couple of years there is any truth that tell Hollander told Chris Helios to try to convince you to stay another year and that he did so well Arab paddle boarding that is the true story yes that happened in in two thousand twelve celli took paddle boarding and trying to come in for the plan on the air and you know even mentioned you mentioned cellist got two hundred sixty six playoff game so you mentioned that you know you can you can have my records the era but I made up my mind when Chela took mountain and I knew to I asked Shelia who's who said and you can you can is telling you to do this things oh no no no I'm just asking what you WANNA deal so sure as shit and you know a couple of years later he finally admitted yeah he told me that'd be if I can do it so so he challenged right he did his best but now I couldn't convince me tell you like I'll drown you if you don't play so that's why I'm here as a demand the most incredible thing that I always watched you doing despise is just walking the puck to the middle and never looking down and still just unleashing a rocket without ever looking at the puck and I talked to my com or wanted mentioned to me that you said he almost had to three or even four different types of slapshots when you'd walk the line is is that true where you really approaching shot differently when you'd have your head up looking for tips or shot as-as yeah I I worked a lot on that in back in my junior days in Sweden we practice a lot walking the lines even even if you're going backwards or or move your feet going kind of sideways but I did have a few different shots if I had if I had time if I the aim I I knew I could take full wind up or take they'll on percents slapshot other times I took have slapshots are a little bit different kind of Slapshot that's where I I sometimes I'm trying to I know Thomas Holmstrom is going to be standing there from the net anyway so just trying to get the puck to him on kind of different shots that's what I wanted to ask you about Thomas did he cost you more goals or got you more assists Toseh- you must have tipped forty wide yeah he did and some of them you know you can see the puck's going into the corner they're low and all of us on homer's leg company in you to he knew it right away because I could be taken shaking my head up by the Blue Line and he knew that he was he was in trouble for that but you know what he probably helped score more goals with him being in front some of them he somebody said I might have touched that yeah but he homer for sure helped me score more goals when I'm standing there nick. What was the adjustment late goal metallic Scotty Bowman to a personality like Mike Babcock maybe not not big of a difference really because I think babs more he's more hands on he wants to you know he wants to be part of the power player of the penalty kill even though the assistant coaches are running it but he wants to kind of overlook everything and he was bad yeah BAPS is very prepared all the time he had his teams prepared he knew you know he's been scouting out at teams for for in in detail that he kinda knew what the game plan was how he wanted us to play and you know Scott it was intense babs is intense as well but I think in practice Scotty sometimes took a step back and let the assistant coaches kind of take over a little bit more yes I think babs is more hands on on everything and that's his style of of being being the leader being the coach and he's had a lot of success doing it too when was the last time you skated is that is that part of your life over are you still on the ice occasionally I'll play the odd charity game or I'm on the ice maybe a handful of times every year actually still a lot of fun going on the ice but I don't do it as much as as I thought I was GonNa do did you miss the competitive nature of it could you see yourself getting in management or maybe even coaching down the road of your kids keep going and and maybe they get an approximate you know yeah I can see myself do that I was I was on adviser for Team Sweden during the World Cup in what was that two thousand sixteen there's a lot of fun it was a lot of fun kind of being in the middle of things again being in a room you know balking at things in detail in the game so you know down the Road the sales slowly getting involved in hockey again well you're one of the you're actually the only guy ever got assigned stick from so I'm sure you constantly had your trainer home and hey a couple of guys in the other room Sein Lipstick so when I got yours you know I look at it right away and I noticed you got the sandpaper on the blade it was kind of like a rougher blade? So I just said immediately I texted the eastern replica. GimMe this what this is and I never really found out what that was so what was it about having the sandpaper finish on your blade because I I just went right with it yeah I think the way I used Gordie Howe tape the old Gordon Sticky on both sides this is when I played and just stuck better but I think that what got me switched over to his police de Eisman because he came he came in one day look at the guy did to my sticks you wanted to try this and he liked it so I ordered as well and and I started liking to so I think I'll give.

"Announced captain before last episode dropped on Thursday but had the video of them telling them that he's going to be captain with his wife in the room with his with his kid one while that's all gonna say we've done one huge intro before his name was Sidney crosby here comes another one my idol growing up this is a man who's one four Stanley cups four he won seven Norris Trophy seven Bob your at eight seven he dominated his position for twenty years he warn a gold medal in the Olympics a gold medal in the world championships and in the Olympic mentally scored the game winning gold medal goal. It's our absolute pleasure to be joined by legend and one of the greatest if not the greatest defenseman of all time and my childhood Idol Nicholas Lindstrom thank you for joining the Chiklis podcast guys thanks for having me on Oh it's our pleasure when we heard that you you had the book coming out we could get we get talking to you we were as fired up as we've ever been so I I'd love to what what's been going on since retirement amazingly it's been seven years it feels like it's been too but I'm wondering what what what life is like now yeah times been signed by head doesn't seem like seven years at all but once I retired in two thousand twelve we decided to move back to Sweden living here now been involved with us talk you over here and some other businesses and just enjoying life so it's been good but it's been a quick seven years for sure and you have four boys is that correct so you're busy you're busy running around seeing those guys play hockey they all players themselves yeah they're all players still on Yeah Mr Dad right now taking the kids to their hock in and enjoy it it's fun sitting in the stands watching my kids play so that's that's been a blast I think first off I think we would forgot you might throw feet did you mentioned that one I did maybe forget but I was very excited but I also could have brought that up later alright what he's grown up in Sweden when did you first the Gel might be a viable a viable career option Oy in neck how old were you you know starting off as being a boyhood dream like like most kids grow up Sweden but when I got drafted or I heard that was was you know they're looking at me and might get drafted that's when I started to you know to pay more attention than once I got drafted you know he realised you're one step goes to to to play in an NFL which there's no guarantee you're going to play but at least you know they've got their ice on you and you know you're being watched so that was you know that was my first big steps into being drafted nick not a lot of people know this but you are passed up on your first time when you're eligible to be drafted correct yeah yep that's right I wasn't you know I was kind of a late bloomer I didn't play on the national team when I was fifteen or sixteen I I got a chance to play when I was seventeen and There was a lot of guys a lot better than me so I I was a late bloomer in I get passed out I think different rules back then to you had to play a certain number of of games in the in the big league so here in Sweden to to get picked so didn't get drafted my I got picked my second year when I was nineteen so that was that was big thrill for me being drafted while so your first year over North America Ninety one ninety two crazy to think that it's been that long and just a quick little leading games played sixty points season out of the gate expert covenant what do you remember about that team and what's so interesting to me is that's before you know the red wings hadn't won in so long young you come over there is remains light it up and it's just like when are we going to end up getting a Stanley Cup there was a lot of suffering but who who do you remember really like looking up to you that team and and really who helped you out your rookie season while Stevie was the captain don he had been a captain for a long time he was the he was the friend name or the the franchise name there but one guy that really took me under his wing was Brodmann Kremlin late Brad macrame was he was my partner every game our first year he took great care of me was a stay at home defenceman let me join the Russian to be part of the offense and even when you know some scuffles happen he was the guy they're backing map so you know he was a he was eight man I was my roommate and it was a great man to play of the two so he really helped me out my first year nick I want to ask about him in Vladimir Constantine off they obviously played a different style than would it be able to teach you about being in NHL Defenseman even though they're kind of more roughhouses than you then maybe you played yeah beast you know as we called Brad Hughes Like I said he was the state whole defenseman but he told me to be part of the offense joined the rush whenever you can and I'll be there backing you up so he can on a let me play my style when I was young player and later on he kind of helped me out on the PK and how to play strong defensively in your own zone he was a great teacher you know he's still my partner and my my teammate but he was a great teacher as well and I think he held blahdy as well to Constantine to were you know colliding I came in here and black lady played with Brad March and I had the beast as my partner I think those really help us out as on defense and coming into the League and trying to learn to play the North American way one and for people who aren't you know aren't necessarily sure of that Brad mccray was tragically killed in the in the plane crashed with locomotive of two thousand eleven so I I've heard from so many people how special of a teammate in person he was so great to know that you've got a chance to play with him and you look at when you when you did come over and amazingly you never miss the playoffs every single season you made the playoffs so just incredible stat but for a while it took is just you couldn't get over the hump and I'm always I'm always interested talking to guys and those wings team of of what was happening early in your career the first four years and find the you're able to break through and win it ninety eight I believe right ninety seven ninety seven yeah night is that on our first win and I think we had some great offense of power guys goals and we were winning games six five six four you know just getting a lot of goals but put in place strong defensively and as you know in the playoffs you you have to be real offensively as well so was Scotty Bowman came in I believe it was ninety three he kind of brought the team back a little bit wanted to have strong team defense it's still had the weapons upfront still had the ICEMAN's and and the federales and and guys they could score goals but he wants us to play more tight defensively and you know and he he made some traits he he moved some guys around to to get a team that he wanted and once you start playing solid defensively everything just selling to place but we added Brennan and in ninety six for I believe we traded him for Paul Coffee and we added some some size and some goals we shannon coming in but we also strong team defense so just all the different pieces we had came together and some strong goaltending for Mike Vernon R. my first win and then Oh Chris Osgood in in ninety eight so we had some some real strong teams and then then all of a sudden guys wanted to come to the wings be part of the wing some part of our success we later Iran added Chellios bread hall Luke Roby Ties Some Star player star lineup. You mentioned Scotty Bowman what is it about him that makes him such a great coach I think Scott it was great bench coach just knowing how to match up against different lineups or different players and cut moving things around you know he was he was an old school coach he kind of kept his distance to the players but when it really mattered the most no he's Scott he was fantastic AH getting the right players on the ice at the right moments you know he was if you're up six nothing he can be screaming and yelling amounts of wanting to shut out and then in tight game he's he's just quiet winning a game three two is quite a coaching everyone so he knew how to kind of get the team going but and healing he was so successful so for so many years as well did he ever have the rip your new ass in the locker room he I think he did it once I think once it happened early on when he when he first came and then kind of he kind of let me be and I thought it was I took that as a good sign he didn't talk to me a whole lot which I thought was I must be doing something that awesome be put out there on the ice all time so I just kept my mouth shut and and kept playing the way I I did Nicolas says yeah I was yelled at two times once Scotty Bowman the other year I was eleven years old in Sweden I remember both times it never happened again the crazy to me in looking over your stats over fifteen hundred career game was play just the number itself are mind boggling and then you look at the games played and I mean you missed like under forty games over twenty years and I just always wondered not necessarily the most physical player but do you consider a lot of that lock you know a random pocket and hit your foot broken foot it was just incredible how available for every single season these years you're playing twenty seven minutes a game too yeah I think the only time I missed my most Thomas I Miss Games was my last year the league when I did get a shot off my foot broke but otherwise I you know I I was fortunate enough to not have a major injuries and I think one of the keys for me was stay in shape and the off season getting ready for a long year I wasn't an overly fiscal offense maybe still have to be strong to take all the hits and I think my positional play helped out allegri or Edmonton with us so he he gave me some games off Laden ear to to get ready for the playoffs neck yeah there's a few things you're stick your famous for batting pucks out of the air when awards are trying to dump it in and there's another one after the lockout when they made those rule changes usually on one on ones he used to kind of push guys with your stick how did you adjust after a call out a little bit yeah directs were kind of on me before the lockout the they kinda saw what I was doing because sometimes Wyoming yeah told me you know some of the guys told me you know I can see where you're doing you know stop doing I know they start calling it they had to tell the league on you yeah no I used my stick to Kinda push guys right by by their hip flexes almost that's because if you're going eight on me I put my stick there could have to stop skating which gained momentum to so after a while they start calling it so I had to find another way to stop players but as far as knocking pucks over there as a kid I was playing always playing with a tennis ball and my hockey stick shooting tennis ball again well I got a Lotta grinders in trouble you got a lot of grinders trouble and I got I told the story in this podcast for Bobby Ryan we were playing you guys when you beat us in seven the a year Pittsburgh won the Stanley Cup when I was on Anaheim he got tortured by Randy Carl he's like bobbleheads of Jesus Christ let's let me put one in but I talked to.

"Those are the days man that's an iconic talk things through the ball ends ends film big catches. He's feeling himself. The weight loss. He's got that little like stylish t-shirt on today. little v-neck haven't seen them break that out a couple of years the guy with the little lovie show and his rare look it up. I'll eat up huge huge guests coming to your supposed to ask ask you what's going on. I'M GONNA I'm GonNa play cool on that. One just table that I've dreamt of interviewing for longtime personally here's a mind it actually might not be a huge huge deal to a lot of listeners but for me. It's like wow I'm like allows allows pens and needles me too. You guys have had almost every guest under the sun somebody that could be like. I need to throw on a tax. This is very special for me. Oh I know who it is. You know it's okay fucking bitch. I notice Tim it. We had a couple doozy's rigs the last couple of days of teas you it tell us the Matt Occupy Austin Matthews Matthews pod to coming did about forty minutes him Nicklas Lidstrom Hall of Fame Defenseman talked to him. we already dropped Romanucci Talk to Jacob Date Jack Talk Doc they just debrusk on the Bruins Lindstrom up to now. He's over in Sweden. He's got four boys. There are playing hockey coach over. There has been a data over like the go-to that everybody tries to teach defensive play like do it simple. He was Whitney's idly Whitney introduce them but he was a great interview man. He's just like you know like Swedish guys with disown toby. They're not going to be too wild but he gave really thoughtful. Answers Long Answers I. I'm actually looking drop now. We got some good Shit Qasr Matthews Dave you you. Didn't you dominate how many him yeah so the leafs came in Hockey Challenge to Austin Matthews Mitch Marna who at the time looked like he was in junior high was a tough showing from that and and Oh it was Martin met my Martin resume yeah so the three of them came in Martin is the one you had to let them score Marnie. I honestly the first time saw Mitch modernize kid. He looked like he was talking about the phone number except the best talking about oh I did. I forgot you that Shit here. We're talking Tuxedos. Bitch Nick sparked kids what the going got. You've got Cox Pipe line Eddie. I don't believable you announced. My weekly apparent treated the first one well. I mean we're talk. Talk Bears Football every time. Are We know yeah. I don't want okay so we talked about. Maybe you should have some topics topics ready. I'm like I said you and I do a weekly podcast and then we are both like well. What would we talk about? What would you think number one? Did you know Donnie still in Vegas. This isn't incredible wow he was with like the mole people I saw. We had that conversation Vegas when I was talking to you. Mike what's Donnie doing is in just matter of fact it was always going to live with people under the ground. There's not many companies and it's like Oh that's cool but he's been out vegas like a month through. He is one of the True Great Social Anthropologists apologists of our time Donnie does he really is gets right in there. I didn't know he was still you've probably still over there. Dave he did say we went out and and we all left and he remained in command by himself. I was in Vegas with two weeks. I vote of Swan dive off the stratosphere already. It is a long long time to be in Vegas. mcdonagh said it was quite weird like recruiting people to come drink with you and you already have bottles at combat. I can imagine that would be correct also his first time in Vegas so to spend two weeks on your first traffic ref is very surprising here what struck me as a guy that I would clocked up as having been to vegas up so what else said he just I feel I got a I got a blog post tomorrow. Dave we got. We got a sticky situation here in Chicago. Two of my co-workers hate each other oh white sox Dave and coral hate each other well. I feel like right now if we're always doing. TV shows do power rankings of the guys. I feel like Eddy. I've always impartial you. I have a big Edie Guy Carl. Has I feel like rocketed up the rankings white sox. Dave has rocketed rocketed down the rankings so I would go eddie carl chief white SOx Dave. I heard rumors. There's a new series coming out white talks Dave which could be pretty good. What's the series of challenge why tax Dave Series yes yeah that's we shall one episode Herati? Not that's I. I don't know what's going out. We'll see if it continues that doesn't sound like the most enthusiastic pronounced we've been talking about this series for six weeks now baseball one cell apparently more on the books I don't I can't get in Dave's brain for the life of me so I don't know what's going on with him supposedly more series or common but who knows why is there such strife what happened with the two of them yeah there you WanNa talk about the two most opposite people in the world of them. Dave is just like he's is his head isn't McLeod's and Carl super super you know just locked in like zeroed in kind of guy and they it just does not work. There is a telling you this video. Carl was talking about it on facebook live and I don't know if people saw the the twitter conversation with Friday they were going at each other and it is serious and it is it is very real so it's that's something Eddie. That would make you uncomfortable. Well I feel like you don't you're not like I always say thriving con conflict in chaos and I liked guys going at each other. You don't strike me as similar in that vibe. No no I mean of course like when a teacher turns around. You'RE GONNA snicker a little bit after Gal that but I mean as far as like being a part of it every day when you're trying to cut a podcast and it it does get difficult it does get this threat. Each Other's throats just all day every day pretty much yeah I listen listen to Eddie. I just keep them on Barstool. Lewis Eddie's a prototypical Chicago yeah so yeah. Why don't we get these guys on the radio and try to hash it out? They are they with you right now right now. We had a remote dog walk with chief earlier so we KINDA got split up all right well. I am this first appearance. I think the highlight obviously the one we forgot. You're on the phone and all of that. I don't know that we've had any highlight moments but that was the big highlight if I can get that highlight every time you know we're going to have some great radio made it quite worth it yeah all.

"Steve is in Matthew Schneider. Henrik Zetterberg Kris Draper, Nicklas Lidstrom Kirk Maltby Thomas Hallstrom, Steve Thomas, Chris Chelios. Jason Wally seven one believe seven nothing. I haven't one anyway, so can have a reverse effect a riff because I think it wasn't that part of the mindset there to Marty was you get this young talented goal. You hope that he goes out there and just kind of. We'll listen was a season where. That was what year two thousand four two thousand three thousand four it was me and me, and whenever we whatever Lindy felt like he wanted to give us a break or get an eight so called up mills e four bunch of games. He played the game in Minnesota that year played unbelievably well, so you know, we want to see where this kid is. Because next year is going to be a lockout season we may miss the whole season. So we gotta give him some H L games. Now hoping that he can get the feel for it. Because in two years, it'll be with the Buffalo Sabres. I always wanted to ask you about that. Like what was that like with the three goalie situation to the next year? I think we had all three here for quite some time. We did have we had the three of us for quite some time. He got traded to Vancouver. Well, yeah. But the reason why Mika stayed a lot longer to is. Because Ryan broke his finger. So in early November didn't come back until middle of December. So there was the three of us. I wasn't good three goalie situations not good. It's never gonna be good. There's only two nuts on the ice for practice. You can't have three goalies feel comfortable taking ornate fifty chicken wings in the back room during the intermission. I don't even I'm not even surprised because he he he he had somebody bring down like. He goes awesome. Great guy. You know, all those fantastic. But he had a little bit of a chip on his shoulder. And so it was an understated little drafted. And I he was a second or first rounder early wise upset, but like, you know, in first rounder he wants to play. He doesn't want to have to sit there in a three man rotation when he's a first round draft. And he had just been a Calder Cup. Finalist in the American League. And it was a first team all star like he wanted to play and he wanted to get there. And I get that. But I would never go out and eat fifty chicken wings in in in. I would eat three hot dogs in months. You're so skinny you'd have seven you'd be bloated. I can eat my wings. Hey, ken. This guy. He's crazy. Absolutely not. What are you? You look you're you're staring at your monitor. Right. I I'm just curious to know what your thoughts are in all Mark. And you know, you're you're playing the Montreal Canadians tonight game. It's a huge game division game. We haven't seen at home either. Sorry. But we haven't seen him at home on Saturday. You have Columbus. Blue jackets. The next Tuesday you have Calgary. And you're telling me that you think he's going to play his first game. The next week Ottawa that means that he wouldn't be playing in two weeks. And and listen for started a season. I mean, you know, we probably played his last preseason game at the end of September. And this very first starting a national. Luckily, this year was over thirteen. So that was two weeks between that I think that early in the year, it's hard because you have a lot of days off between games as soon as January turns around you're playing thirty games in sixty days, you're playing every other day. And then I think now at that point where maybe you have your starting goalie played ten games and your backup three early in the year by the end the season. You've got a lot closer because you're playing tons of back. It's obviously. That was what was Carter Hutton brought in here for the number one. Well, right now fight number one rate now in all marks I and L season Carter Hutton was brought in to be the leader the one eight two one b but I think the one eight one b they're not one to well and Carter Hutton b one two weeks ago won his first game three nothing against Arizona. And I'm gonna tell you right now. Played out of this world wasn't for him. They later a week later. He plays in LA. They win five one. He allows one goal in two games. Let me ask you. This question though. Do you give this this kid another game? Columbus would be would be that's another week. So you play him in Columbus. I. After I think it will be. They've only played there were only played two games this week. If you don't consider the Anaheim game they'll play Montreal in Columbus this week. Okay. So those are Carter Hutton game. And then you look at next week Calgary Ottawa Ottawa, and you say Hutton will play two out of the three and then all Mark replay one. And so do you want to break? It up were not the same goalie plays Ottawa on that home in home game set or. I know what you're saying. But I'd much rather. See Lena soul. Markley twenty games this year. The weed I displayed his last two then four some thirty five see struggle. That's maybe that's just the way that I look at things. I don't know if you're seeing that this this young this young goaltender is going to be a starter in the NHL. He's got to learn to play more games. But he's not going to be a starter this year. Okay. I'm not talking. Could be. But I can't give them twenty games wind. He's not gonna be he's going to be your starter and play a three year deal. So you don't have to rush. All mark. I think that if you want to go along with a plan all Mark will become your starter in your three of Carter Hutton's deal. So that you move forward. So this year one Andrew I don't disagree with that. But I'm talking about when you have your number one be okay. Two games in as loud one goal for labels. Exceptionally. Well, I wanna play a more well for labels. This year Hutton has won all Marcus to next year Hutton is one eight ullmark has one be the year. After all Mark is one A and Hutton is one being like, that's your transition in a perfect world. And then the year after all Mark is one and you have to I can't wait to find out. Who's starting tonight sabres have taken the I'll tell you Hutton because he's all they're doing is warm up in the starters net. Ullmark is just at center ice stretching so mardi gras. Here is starting. We are going to take a break. Sabres took the ice for morning skate here. We're live at the key Bank center. Instigators WJR five fifteen MSG. We'll be right.

"Warne able to do that in recent years but that they definitely at the build up at secondary scoring look for those diamonds in the rough like the redwings scouts used to where it was the red wings back in the late eighties they started the european scouting trend they got sergei federov and nicklas lidstrom those were and vladimir constantine off whose career tragically ended way too early ever a car accident in 1997 so they definitely are capable of getting those diamonds in the rough that they found in the late eighty's and early 90s they just have to revamp the the staff a little bit they need some new fresh blood in their it's been a great run for can how and he's he's done a great job during his redwings tenure but he needs to step aside and let's get some new blood in there in yes there's some guys from the old regime like kris draper in kirk maltby and yuri fisher on the scouting staff but it it's time for new blood while the king's not the same anymore against changed the game changed a little bit sense rather last who decades yes and the way people play the way the players played everything else there are much more aggressive there there are different player at used to be the redwings the redwings used to be the aggressive team air and now uh they're all like that so you've gotta you've got to do something a little bit different and i think you're right it's time for new blood when do you foresee the red wings just as a guess back in the playoffs i would say two years they could get back into the playoffs but as far as being stanley cup contenders i would i would say there at least five years away f f ken holland steps aside as general manager or inspired in they bring in somebody who can write the ship with some new ideas but that's what i see them so contender in five years from the time they get rid of holland yeah lease on start the calendar yes the the clock in your estimation if it possible to do get up get out of style light gretzky or uh threats.
