"Andrew Twin Cities, News, talk and Get to your phone call here and a little bit more on the mail in voting on to mention this real quick, though this version is that the Hollywood reporter on electrical engineer and roboticist by Training worked for a long time at Lucas Films. THX Industrial Light Magic, a Grant imahara. Most people will know him from Mythbusters and also the Netflix show, a White rabbit project has died. At the age of 49. He died suddenly, following a brain aneurysm. I watched Mythbusters religiously love that show, and he was one of my favorite. My favorite parts of that show. Just just another again. We were talking about the glee star. Just another sad story, and there's a lot of lot of fans out there. Drew you said you didn't watch Mythbusters. I don't think I've ever seen enough. Oh, my gosh. I mean, we should binge watch. She should binge Watch Mythbusters. I've heard it's good, Never. It's popular. Just I don't think I've ever seen an episode. Do you ever watch? I definitely did. Yeah, it's been a long time, but stick it show. Well, the three characters on their granny Mara and then the other guy, and the girl were were fantastic. I mean, that's what made the show so much fun along with along with the with the host, But yeah, I was. I was really, really shocked to see this very, very sad. All right, 6519895855 Getting back to the story in hand will dive into a Wisconsin's vote by mail debacle was worse than people at first thought. First off Greg and Crystal. Good morning. Hey, Good morning. Yeah, I always thought there should be a There's a good constitutional challenge to the male and Early voting process that the Constitution establishes when election Day is Man. As far as I know, I don't believe in the states with early ballot laws and allowances. That they that they have a provision to double check that you know, everybody male and voted was alive on Election Day. The tough part about that. And then this happens with so many of the arguments to go well, the Constitution says Blank is that there are so many degrees, which you need to get to that point. Most judges will not accept that. Go on and on on on its face, and so that the states make their own choices on these issues, Constitution by and large, and I'm speaking broadly here, But the Constitution, you know, puts restrictions on the federal government doesn't necessarily put those types of restrictions on the state government, and I don't think there's anything in the Constitution that pre events a state from Election day is still win. Election Day is right. There's nothing that prevents the state from establishing a window of time when people can vote early. Earlier this year. Speaking which the height of the pandemic, Wisconsin attempted to keep its primary intact by creating a hybrid system where some people could vote in person in small numbers. A few phone, polling places and others could request mail in ballots. This was a disaster. Wisconsin's Democratic primary resulted in long lines, many residents didn't receive their absentee ballots or or unable to return them. The U. S Postal Service is internal watchdog released a report on July 7th and a detail the failures of the Wisconsin Mail in ballots system. Found that many voters either received their balance late or not at all, was some being sent to the wrong destination. There were four major problems with the attempt with the attempt to detailed in the report to two of which, actually Rickard in In Milwaukee. Only 400 absentee ballots in from Milwaukee. Voters had issues including missing or alleged ble postmarks. Some lacked a postmark date. The inspector general reports of the Post office officials worked with election officials to validate all but 40 Of the postmarks after the election took place. Many Milwaukee voters also reported they never even received balance, which had been requested on March 22nd and 23rd. Look, This is what the left once Because the desire here in the general election and again Marc Lotter made a fantastic point about those about the the non federal elections, right. But in terms of the general election, if possible, what they desperately want is they want mass confusion. They want Biden to be up. They want, you know, a hodgepodge of of male and you know, voting expansion across the country in order to get into a situation where they could go well, we really have to move on everybody. We're stuck admired with this, and Biden clearly seems to be the winner. I mean that they wanna win via chaos. Yeah, and they're going to use everything they can to get there. And mail in voting is a key part of the strategy. I mean, there's no It's not a coincidence that all these prominent Democrats and governors and mayors are pushing so so hard to get you to vote by mail. This is this is not a coincidence. This is not out of a concern for your safety, because if they were confirmed concerned for your safety, they wouldn't do this out of one side of their mouth and on the other side of the mouth. Tell you to go join a big protest and stand in a crowd with a bunch of people for hours and hours and hours on end, So don't don't fool yourself and pretend that these people care about your safety at all they want and they've always wanted and they continue to want on election system that allows for the most freedom to engage in shenanigans of most freedom to engage. In fraud. We've seen it multiple times, over and over and over every single attempt to to to ensure some degree of election integrity to increase that integrity to make sure that only the people that are eligible to vote are voting and the people who but people are who they say they are when they show up to vote has been squashed and shut down by the Democrats and what they have pushed for is looser systems of vote by mail. As Marc Lotter said. We've talked about it. There's a famous report led by Jimmy Order. It is the easiest system to defraud. Nobody should be pushing for a vote by mail. Nobody. More than 100,000 mail in ballots were rejected by a California election official in the March presidential primaries, according to data from the AP. California's secretary of state's election data that was obtained by the AP showed 102,428 mail in ballots were disqualified in the states. 58 counties, about 1.5% of the nearly seven million mail in ballots returned. That percentage is the highest in primary since 2014 in the overall number is the highest in a statewide election since 2010. The most common problem in California was missing the deadline for the ballot to be mailed and arrived to count in the election. Ballots must be postmarked on or before election Day and received within three days afterwards. And that's that's one of the man and that's one of the things that they were trying to attempt to do here was this Well, you've got three days after the election for this to be, and it's like no man. Today is Election Day. Give me a break already. And they have so much data. I mean, just look at how how how. Ah, Finally, they Khun target their efforts by zip code and by address, they know your address. They know what you're registered. As they know you're voting history or how often you vote. They know who to target They use very granular data talked to anybody that works..

"I don't know what to say about it. I have I mean values. Certainly that is not how I read it and I don't I don't I don't agree not to say I think that's perfectly legitimate interpretation but I mean I think what what I what I was going to say was. He's he's going to the local disk around. Trade deals being made. The government is corrupt right because the the bull. Whoever the boys are and we can discuss that in a second but I think it's actually not clear whether whether when he talks about the boys whether it's the rebels what is the government and the army of this country whether is the US operatives in this you know who are in the country some trying to make a buck off of the weapons right. And so. So they're they're they're in the disk allowed whether or not our narrator is trying to stop that from happening or is involved in the corrupt dealings not clear but my thought was that this is where he met her right he is the disco lounge four work and sees her across the floor and now cannot think of anything else and it is like has thrown all his his important work away is not paying attention to what he's supposed to be paying attention because all you can see her the other thing is when he's talking about all she wants to do is dance are are they together or is this whole song basically taking place as he's just watching her. I think he's watching her. I think he's watching her dance. I don't think I think it's funny that to the government. There's see I wish there was like like is it. The Nicaraguan government is the American government. Because I read it as that. He was there to bug the men's room to keep them like that was why he was there and he was running. He sees her But Yeah I don't think they're together I think that he he's she's just dancing in a disco lounge and and catches his eye. Okay maybe Shimmy against each other. I don't know well. Let's say stuff together because because okay so yeah so in my mind it was always so the government bugged the measure in the local disk allege. I'm assuming that means the government. Let's say Nicaragua so the Nicaraguan government raid has bugged because that's where the deals are going down so they've bugged the measure now who who's selling the weapons and the drugs. I don't know But that's the question is are narrator. There is Don Henley there to stop that from happening or was he going to be involved in the railings. And then and then realize like Oh. I can't because I found out that the men's room is also they just don't want the weapons being sold they're totally five with the drax. Who like don't worry about that? That part's fine. Local economy right. Well I also love all the you know. Sell the army all the drugs that they can do not not like regular people. That party is the army is like they. You cannot believe the cocaine. The army can begin down in this country So so that's happening so okay. So now the question was is Don Henley either Caesar floor and they have no connection. He's just watching her and he's like falls in love and infatuated or are they a do they hook up this night right this one and only night where you know. This is all happening. Basically one all she wants to do is dance because I've hanging out. I'm almost certainly on cocaine having a great time so well you're selling fun until you're selling cocaine if you're selling cocaine to the army euro so probably doing it. I would imagine as well but you know hanging out. He's having a great time in like he should be paying more attention to the operation. That's going down and the deals that are going down in this disco. But he's not because he's too busy with her or are they six-month-long thing were there together and he's just like not paying a dish whose job at all because like infatuated with this woman so. I think there's kind of there's three I think legitimate interpretations to it. I always felt like there's one line at the end that makes me feel like they are at least somewhat involved. They have a connection. But that's not necessarily you know it's not it's nothing concrete so I think your interpretation Rachel which I like again. 'cause I can. I can see him in like the Miami vice suit. Yes I totally tissue this Miami Vice. Yes Johnson perfect type period definitely. It's the sound of the song and also didn't Glynn for. I have a song on the Miami Vice Soundtrack. Yes I think so so all of that together. What's I think it was it like you belong to the city was that? Oh Yeah Yeah I think so. I mean if that's gone Friday I'm going to say almost definitely Yuccas. Even though I've never seen the show Miami Vice I can just picture Don Johnson sadly driving through the ad blowing. Yeah where like you know because I think that show was not. I think the thing that was semi famous about that show was. It wasn't the like every week. They caught the guy like I think. Most of the time the guy the bad guys got away because it was supposed to be a more realistic. Sorta COP show so I I think that there's there's a lot of like montages of of Don Johnson like driving through the city being like. Why do I even bother with the hope that we can only slow down the drugs? We can't stop it. Also a big thing about Miami vice and this is not a Miami Vice podcast but But down it should go is that it was. It was known for using contemporary music to tell the story. So like Glenn Fry Tina Turner. There's all these songs that you know our show up in Miami vice to make it much more Cinematic so revolutionary. At the time. That's amazing like modern music score but yeah but I totally said Don Johnson in his Pascale Sport everything driving in a convertible sadly enders. I wound again ever seen the show but I just amazing Solo and Don Johnson sitting there like. We're too much linen. Do I think they do that thing? Where like they're driving and they have the one hands on yesterday's victory but also that I can't explain but they take their thumb and rub it on their bottom lip you you know what I'm talking about. Kind of like like sadly yeah. I could totally see it happening again. Michael I've never seen the show have no evidence of this but I'm one hundred percent that happens. Good job To the NAP purpose. So yeah so again. I'm GonNa say that you know what I'm GonNa say that he they they danced together this night. Yeah right but this is it. This is the one and only night. They had one amazing night. Big Deal going down. So they're here they here in. This country stuff's going down Whatever whatever agencies CIA? Whatever it is. Dan Johnson is a part of their supposed to be doing this deal in the disco Landreau. They're supposed to be like monitoring or or trying to stop whatever's happening or arrest people whatever it is but he like totally blows it he goes. He sees this girl talking to this girl. They start having a couple of drinks maybe do a couple of rails in the bathroom and then they're just dancing all night and they completely misses what he's supposed to be doing and also he does not care because he all she wants to do is dance. Only thing that matters still so. Can I throw my theory here? Yeah so back to what I was saying before about her involvement. Maybe that is her involvement. Maybe it's like a spy versus spy. Kinda thing ooh Oh you think. She's standard abstract him. Yeah that's good too. That goes back to you. Michael but it just depends on who she's there to distract. Yeah Okay it could be the white working in the club that he's at and but she's they're sort of on official business right. Well maybe I mean it could just be that he saw her am he causes. Be Don Johnson is done. Dodger doesn't Don Henley is just not good at his job right. I mean that's that's very possible by I like this theory where Because we only have his perspective right right right so he saying Oh. She can't feel the heat coming off the street. All she wants to do is dance and make romance. But maybe that's what she's telling him you know what I'm saying. She's like I'm just dumb girl. I don't know anything really. She's part of the rebel. The homeless of the rebel lions guys hold on civil my theory or she is princess. Leia okay. That's so the country they're in. I don't just stick with me here. I think that's definitely a possibility. There's and then all the people who thought she doesn't do anything she turns him and says. Oh I don't do anything do I? And they say well pray Joan get him card and she says well here's the treasury and the key whereas the I don't know it's just added a key and a treasure map. That's what we're supposed to be or but I ca- everyone's attention everyone in the office. Okay I just wanted to give a shoutout Joan. She apparently this whole time was playing the long game. So let's just give her a round of applause for John Everybody. Hey we thought she was worthless but actually she was Able MOM random out on me Joan. Okay guys let's do the July birthdays quick and we gotta get back to it. Okay but it's June. I what we have leftover cake from last month. Guys WE'RE DOING. We're doing all this summer. Birthdays doing all this summer. Birthdays right now where it's really coming. Corpus really come down on the Cape budget so we'll just knock them all out right now. Feel free to have a piece of cake at your desk. It's either that or she is terrible at her job being rebel and he is terrible at his job. Being a government spy and y'all factions. Get together and say you know what those two deserve. Each Other. Can't even let let them go for it favor. I love how nine times out of ten. We err on. The side of people are just terrible.

He talked about how bread lines are good. Because at the end of the lines you've got bread. So he was asked about that last night. By Chris Cuomo who asks him. Okay. So you say that you're just for democratic socialism. But in the past talked about large-scale nationalization of industry, and listen is Bernie refuses to answer the question. You used to argue that you should have government control. The means of capitalism of energy companies in the seventies. Okay. I said what I said. And that is I want to live in a nation in which all people in the wealthiest nation in the history of the world can have a decent standard of living. You know, they're not so radical I believe in a nation in which guarantee fundamental, economic rights, basic necessities of life to all of our people. Okay. So he's just going to avoid that question. So he said what he said. I'm going to say it, but I did say, and I still think climate well-done Bernie Sanders now as you'll see a normal Democratic Party. Will that nude crazy, and they would run the other way? But that is not this Democratic Party. No, indeed coming up Senator Kamla Harris joins CNN as well. This was recently collected so nobody had seen this particular type of signal before either so nobody. Had thought to look for these so what do you say you and I buy. A shovel a plane ticket and we become richer than in our wildest dreams so. Long way to dig down these are these are sitting at one hundred twenty kilometres somebody like ninety miles way down deep Inside the continents they're, just take you a. While to get there and where exactly are they are they in one location or are they spread across the globe so there. Are a lot of different locations during all the continents. So all the main diamond forming regions that we have right now are. Very good candidates for that so just where all the diamonds. Are coming up that are being mined now. Air coming up from the source it's much deeper that has a lot more diamonds in them so now that you've discovered these. You expect though beer a bit of a diamond rush with companies trying to find a way to drill him get to them No I don't think they can quite drill down, that far either this is. Again it's, a long way down looking for more places where. Potentially we see these seismic signals and looking or surface. Expressions of the volcanic that bring the diamonds up from from way down deep? That might happen more but in terms of drilling it's still a? Long way to go does this find now that we can't really. See diamonds as being that exotic and rare that we thought they were before no this is still. A very small amount of diamonds in the large scheme of things and. Even because there are more down there, than we thought before the ones that actually make it up. To the surface are still very, very small and in volume so well we can actually reach easily is still very rare it's coming up to, four twenty GMT This is. Just remind us how did this all begin a so, this is frustration and anger in this country that's in building for many years. President Ortega's in his, fourth term as president over that time he has undermined. Democratic institutions and, a lot of ways the spark that set off the protests in April, was a change to the social security system that made people, pay more and receive less retirement and the revision does of elderly people protesting this and then getting beaten by police and those were seen around the country. And. People guy extremely upset and there were large marches in the, streets and when police then fired on those protests in there There's further crackdown in violence that really nothing's off you mentioned that the State Department's have been communicating with Ortega's government what have those communications been like what is the. US government, saying the US government has been calling on. The Nicaraguan government to stop using violence against protesters they have? Issued sanctions against Nicaraguan officials they have essentially said. That the use of force against against these protesters is unacceptable and that they're calling for a, democratic peaceful solution to the problem but is any of that pressure making a difference on the ground so far it hasn't it hasn't made a huge difference the president Ortega has refused to consider early elections the dialogue process between the church the protests and the business community has essentially. That they traditionally haven't been coming in. Large numbers or at. Least compared to the numbers. Of the, neighboring countries, but it's possible those. Numbers could increase Josh part low is a reporter for? The Washington Post thank you?
