Pittsburgh Attorney Offers Apology After Client Mistook Aaron Donald for Attacker
"Week on Wednesday of this week, and attorney filed a criminal complaint against rans past Russia. Aaron Donald's allegedly Donald and others assaulted his 26 year old client at an after hours club last weekend. The dude was pretty beaten up. He needed 16 stitches suffered a broken orbital bone that's around your eye, a broken nose, a concussion and a sprain. Or broken arm. But thank goodness for modern technology because a lawyer representing Donald says there is video evidence refuting that claim here is Donald Attorney Casey White. The whole time, Mr Donald Aaron is being restrained. So as this fight or escalation, want call what everyone called continues. Aaron then breaks free from their strengths. And this is all on video. So I'm not making this up. He then goes to the pyre where this melee is taking place. And he starts tearing people off protecting Mr Sprigs. He actually saved Mr Sprigs from further injury. Mr. Sprague should write a thank you card to Aaron Donald for saving him Because that incident or Mr Springs is getting injured. That likely would have kept going for a least a few more seconds. Maybe a couple of minutes, But Aaron Donald saved Mr Springs. NFL nation reporter Lindsay Theory spoke to white about where the process stands. White told me this morning that a Pittsburgh police detective assented email that stated thus far there is no evidence from the video surveillance that shows Donald assaulting the victim Now. White also told me that given the evidence, which includes statements from at least five eye witnesses But he anticipates at the Pittsburgh police and district attorney will not charge Donald. As for Donald current mindset. White told me that Donald's frustrated that this incident took place and how it is since played out in the media, but adds that Donald remains confident his character and is eager to resolve the situation. The attorney representing the accuser, AB. Donald is now offering an apology on behalf of his client who said that he mistook his

The NFL draft is a week from Thursday night. At least round one is rounds two and three on the Friday night and then the rest the draft on Saturday. Sort of the In recent years traditional schedule. The draft is in Cleveland this year. So if you want to go to that they're setting up outside the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Is that big pavilion there? That's the right word. And so I can't wait. Excited for it. Sal Carpaccio joins me on the west. Her hotline. Tell you Wanna You wanna tackle the fantasy question? Joe just asked me before I start throwing your my questions. Um okay. Well, I'll make you a deal. I'll do that. If you tackle the trivia question. I just asked Joe before I came on the air with you, all right? What should the order be? You want to go? You go. First cell. My trivia question is, I just asked this to Jo, Can you tell me Where C M Reinhardt ranks all time right now in sabers goal scored, Hmm. 31st He is 25th. Just behind Tony Macagni and just ahead of Pierre Ter John Can he pass the guys the rest of this year can he pass Can he needs just He's only one behind McKechnie. So he's gonna pass him. But he is actually four behind Andre Savard, and then he needs about eight more to get to pass both Jim Lauren's and maximum on again off. Get into the into 21 to get to Jochen hash at 20 to get to the top 20. He'd need, um 12 more goals. I don't see that happening. How many goals is it like 110? How many goals is it? 126 for Sam? Right Heart? All right. Wonder if 100 10 would have ranked 31st. I like this. I want to follow this this continuing story, and I hope, Sal that you will just remind us of it so we can treat it is the point here, that it kind of blows your mind that it's that is that high Yeah, you know, after after yesterday's game, I kept thinking myself, you know, he's had a nice year. He's still pretty young. Like, Where is he on the all time list? It just kind of thought about it actually thought he'd be higher because Figured like the top 10. It's tough to break but after that kind of gets a little okay, like you know how many years you got a place in 1/7 year Now I thought he might have been around just just inside the top 20. But I do think he's had a nice He's been a nice goal scorer, and he's had a pretty good career so far for his young age. For sure. I've always been a on team Reinhardt and AIPO piece here a long time. There's like there's a lot of Obvious value, and there's also a lot of hidden value from the numbers in his game. The fantasy question Woz. Joe knows cell that I had a lot of James Robinson last year. And I was even drafting him in June in Dynasty League because I read a Mario Puig article about him, like all right, well, sort of When you get into the deeper dives. He was a guy for me. But he's been an interesting topic and fantasy this year because you don't know if Jackson Jackson will probably won't give him the ball is often like he had all of the usage in their offense last year. New coach now new quarterback, So that is almost definitely not going to happen. They could also draft somebody, in which case You might be old clothes to nowhere. If you have Robinson. Joe wants to know what he should do. Water the options should he Trade him tried to trade him now and maybe if Jacksonville does not draft a running back Trade you make now probably will look like a bad deal in two weeks. But if they do, then you're you could be kind of stuck. I don't even know if it's if it's about them drafting running back. I think that you do trade him now. Trade him. Hi. Um, you know he had 240 carries last year's. You noted a lot of them. I mean, not a bad yards per carry before..
Trevor Lawrence Responds to Critics
"Want to transition a little bit of nfl because obviously the next big thing on the nfl draft calendar or on the sports counter really is the nfl draft. And it's kind of crazy because there are so many different narratives that are popping up mack. Jones moving updraft boards justin field potentially moving down draft boards. So narratives going on. And so what. I kinda wanna do. That was a new piece of information that came out today. That really leads to an older piece of information from earlier this week that i want your opinion on and so listen. It's draft season. You hear all sorts of crazy stuff but there was a report out a lengthy report from the athletic earlier today which which which interviewed a bunch of anonymous gm's and coaches and stuff like that and so it said in this athletic report. You told me that justin field was going to be better than trevor lawrence and five years. I would say yes that could happen. That was an anonymous. Gm told that to the athletic. And so i thought that quote was kind of interesting in the context of what happened earlier this week with trevor lawrence. I know you and chris touched on it briefly but for the audience. That hasn't fully heard the quotes. I'll read it really quick robin than i want your response but trevor lawrence of course the presumptive number pick. Since the beginning of time no one has ever debated his place as the best player in this draft. He sat down for a pretty lengthy interview with sports illustrated and he said a few different things where he said. It's hard to explain that. Because i want people to know that i'm passionate about what i do and it's really important to me but i don't have the huge chip on my shoulder that everyone's out to get me and i'm trying to prove everybody wrong. I just don't have that. I can't manufacture that. I don't want to and i think that people mistake debt for not being competitive. I think that's unhealthy to certain extent. He's talking about that chip. Just always thinking that you've got to prove somebody wrong. You've got to do more. You've got to be better

What do you think of a the the readmission of josh dobbs With the black and goal. I like it. I think it really for people who want a quarterback hauling out the best news. I think i think it's more than anything. Vote of confidence in the guys they have. You wanna fourth quarterback for camp and josh dobbs in my opinion is the right kind of quarterback to push a dwayne haskins. He's not going to match. Dwayne haskins talent with the questions on dwayne haskins. Aren't does he have talent questions are you know. Where's his head in the game. What's his Level what's he like in the locker room. You know you're talking leadership and you're talking. You know the love of the game sitting in the film room watching the film breaking stuff down understanding the offense all these things. Those are josh dobbs strengths. Just odd isn't the greatest passer but he does that to the point that he's you know a guy. Ben rothlisberger likes because he can rely on him so to me. He's an insurance policy. Should dwayne haskins causing any problems and they have to get rid of. It has to cut ties with him. And he's also the kind of guy to plush dwayne haskins in the in the film room kind of be that guy who's like you know try and keep up your kid like let's go. It's it's time for you to learn this. It's time for you really. It's it's your what third season you know. You need to have this stuff down So i think josh dobbs is actually the perfect addition to push him and honestly if he sticks around. He's someone bent likes having around.

Los Angeles Dodgers' Trevor Bauer Subject of MLB Inspection for Suspicious Baseballs
"Dodgers big. Dad's we talked about. We were talking about the dodger. We're talking about the trevor bauer situation as someone was trying to pour cold water on the dodgers situation where ken rosenthal. The athletic was reporting that multiple suspicious baseball's from the dodgers starting pitcher trevor. Bauer were sent to major league baseball for inspection to which bauer went to social media to clear that. Hey not just me because if you single one person out it makes it sound like they're guilty. That is the way most people think but it is a a wide range of pitchers whose balls have been collected to see what's on the balls to inspect the balls. And the dodgers took exception to it and i get it now. Trevor responded to that today. Here's what drivers at since. It's only illegal for pitchers to have foreign substance on their person their body whatever. It's not illegal for a catcher to have it on his shin guards or his chest protector as we've seen it's not illegal for basement having on his glove or a center fielder to have it on his gloves. So far as i am aware potentially rule change. There's some language. But as far as i know the rules baseball it is legal for those players to have stuff on their gloves. So my question is if i threw a pitch and it gets thrown out and tested and then have the foreign substance on. How do they know that. It came from me and not from the catcher's glove or from the third basements glove or nfl ball. What does that happen to hit the bat. The handle of a bet where a hitter has pine tar or whatever other substance he wants which is completely legal so long as it doesn't go too far up that how are they gonna tell that that was knee and fault me for using four in substance when that could have come from any host of other places that are legal.

"But Marcus which matchup are you most interested in for this one? Foot convincing the wisdom would tell you Patrick Mahomes in general but Clyde Edwards Allaire ls through its debut. For, this against those linebackers from the Houston Texas, we've talked about it this week they'll play man we know what Kareem Hunt did in his first game in a chief uniform in how India reuse them to the summer to forty cloudy was. Of, course you talked to who I I want to see how they're gonNa match-up defensively against Travis. Kelsey? If it's read their safety one on one, maybe try to claim in some zone. He's a smart enough player to sit in spots in each you up and then if you try and double team, it doesn't matter at all because he's a craft. Runner how do you slow down? Indoor Stop Travis Kelsey to the Texans Defense you know for me it's Larry Toss the big defensive big offense alignment left was traded from Miami Dolphins to the Houston Texas big money sixty, six, million dollars fifty of a guaranteed to protect the hundred plus million dollar quarterback in Deshaun Watson I'm watching you victim tonight but he? And the Houston Texas, a lot of production to replace with the Andre Hawkins now playing wide receiver for the Arizona Cardinals and our Murray. So is it going to be willful in that steps up? Is it going to be Randall cobb that steps up is going to be brandon cooks deck wod injury is going to be somebody else but somebody has to replace all the production they're missing training the Andre, Hopkins and tonight we finally Super Bowl Mvp Patrick mahomes back in action. It's been two hundred and twenty one days since the chiefs wanted all in Miami feels like a lifetime ago doesn't it? Was Electric especially, win Kansas City, trailed in the playoffs in fact Patrick mahomes accounted for twelve touchdowns last postseason that's passing and rushing sutton NFL record in the playoffs and it's even more ridiculous when you consider that all ten of his touchdowns through the air came after his team had thrilled by double digits he led his team to a super bowl victory after an MVP camping twenty eighteen making him the youngest with those accolades under his belt at just twenty four years. Old. Now, our football power index projects the chiefs to win by at least ten points making them by far the heaviest favorite. We've one matchup building some disrespect in my opinion to the Texans but Dan will this be a blowout tonight like FBI says it will no not not at all first of all they played twice last year the Texans beat them once they scored thirty one in both those games, and if we're being honest the Texans, controlled both of those games. Obvious. Seen the first one, and then the division around that was on coaching they opened the door for that monumental comeback. But the real biggest point I would say is this the chiefs secondary for shot bruins not playing and they don't have a backup that's got a ton of experience I believe or shot vent in their sixth round pick from that is going to get the first opportunity but the ball went over their head a lot last year especially, not first game three. Of them were dropped touchdowns. So we've seen the Texans offense had success against them will fuller catch the football you're gonNA have plenty of opportunities downfield, but there were so many big place through the air on net chief secondary last year when these two teams met and bre shot brilliant is not playing tonight that gives me an idea that Houston can be even more explosive than they were the first you match ups last year there's going to be a good football game tonight. I think it's I think it's the showing Watson having to be Superman and I I don't think it's going to be particularly close when you think of NFL terms listen. We know how good the Shawn Watson there's. Shifty said it the under Hopkins is gone and regardless of the hundred hopkins making catches going over one hundred, your scoring touchdowns he still was a presence on the field you had to pay attention to, and he demanded that type of respect. So what Dan just pointed to ball's going over the secondary head all of those things are influence when you have a dominant receiver out there. I'm looking at this game is saying there is no way for Houston to win it unless Deshaun Watson light we seen before turned superhuman and does some things out of his mind couldn't happen yes. Because we've seen it but bottom line is Patrick mahomes superman as well. He's going out there with the better team I mean both of them are Superman and I think the question was. More about is going to be a blow out Marcus and I don't think it's going to be blood. I think the game is going to be high scoring and there's a number of reasons why you gotta factor in the weather conditions not only the weather condition is much like a man Dan was talking about in the secondary guys are missing, but you think about think about camp. This is not real football camp. It's not traditional. It was Kinda like I dunno touching go flag football. So to speak, you didn't get preseason games. A lot of people don't play preseason, but you still need some sort of rips. The first time that teams will take the field tonight. So you're GONNA see guy falling down blown assignments, things like that, and he's too high power scoring. is in much like you said, Houston scored a bunch of points and Arrow in the past couple of times that they've been there so has Kansas. City and the weather will play a factor yet quick weather report they're saying it's going to be high fifties chance of rain by the time that the kickoff happened. So in the next four hours or so. It's actually raining right now we showed you those shots at the stadium earlier I want to get to you on this keyshawn because the last time these two teams played two, hundred, forty, two days ago Houston blew a twenty four nothing lead I realized that that was nearly eight months ago but does that game and that action in the playoffs factor in tonight. It does from a coaching standpoint the not the players it's out of the players mind. But when you are up twenty one donut, you got a chance to go up twenty eight doughnuts and you settle for feel it changes things if you go up twenty eight to now all of a sudden Andy Reid and his coaching staff have to figure out how do we come from Twenty eight down twenty four? Okay. We can figure that out. We got some plays for that twenty eight nothing. It's a different game plan going into the second half opposed to what they did to come back in hang that fifty one. Yeah. The chiefs are setting out to become the ninth to win back to back super bowls the first since the two thousand, four Patriots later on, we give you are super bowl picks in the show stay. Tuned for that but let's get back to Adam schefter. What else should we be watching for tonight couple things things number brandin cooks, the new Texans wide receiver listed as questionable with a Quad Quadri? I'm told they're going to take him out on the field pre-game running around see how it feels and make a decision then about whether or not he'll be acted now somebody said yesterday they were leaning more towards. Him playing than not playing again they WANNA test in pre game to make sure he's able to play or not play Patrick Mahomes we know signed that four hundred, fifty, million dollar extension of season the richest contract in the history of sports. The chiefs of taken the rare unusual step according to field yates of taking out an insurance policy on Patrick Mahomes and that contract in the event anything were to happen teams. have done it before, but it's not all that Combo. You got a contract worth four, hundred, fifty, million dollars. You take insurance out and that's exactly what the chiefs have done according to field. Yeah. Let's check. That's a lot of money. So four hours, eleven, minutes, and some seconds away from kickoff of the twenty twenty NFL season. Let's get back to Sheffield with the very latest around the League on some important. Injury updates starting shefty with wide receiver Mike Evans Tampa the Laura for a second straight day Mike Evans, did not practice today due to that hamstring injury considered a game day decision about whether he'll be able to play the bucks regular season opener against the saints obviously want the Tom Brady but there's a question with Mike Evans and the Hampshire right now miles sanders eagles running back was a limited participant in. Practice today for a second straight day. No practice for all John Jeffrey Jalen Rigor. Their first round draft was a full participant in practice date and the broncos was bond Miller or the week to a potentially season ending ankle tendon injury suffered another injury in practice today courtroom Sutton went down slipped the field hurt his shoulder. We are awaiting the severity of that injury as we speak will bring you the very. Latest as comes in Kenny Golladay, the lions wide receiver basically was held out of practice today mattress cities nursing a hamstring injury. He suffered yesterday.

"The bears have two quarterbacks with easily the largest drop off and total qbr. Twenty eighteen to two thousand nineteen, among all quarterbacks who had at least one hundred passes in both seasons both foles and Trubisky quarterback ratings dropped by over thirty points in that two year span. Here's what Matt. Nagy ongoing window. This morning had to say about his team's quarterback question. They are literally getting an amazing fair chance to win the starting quarterback job for the Chicago bears, and and so how do you do that? We need to make sure and that's what we're doing right now that when we script these practices, it's a fair competition with again. What what reps they're getting how many they're getting! We have to create more reps in practice so that we can evaluate it. There's not going to be a day that goes by that. They don't understand or hear pure honesty from us, and then when you do that, it makes us so much easier that when you make a decision. They know the why part. There has been you know relative. Sort of forthright conversation about this from the get go. What does this mean for the bears QUARTERBACK BATTLE FOUR CHICAGO? Quite honestly I know that we look at the situation with Trubisky, and and say which one will it be at the end of this season emerging as ultimately the team starter I mean not to be cold. Hearted here, but I would call massive success if the bears have a clear starter at the end of this season, I understand the legacy of Nick, foles, as it pertains to the eagles that will never go away, but quite frankly we still do not have enough of a body of work from foles as a starter to. To know exactly what he is an we talk about his familiar artery with Matt Nagy and twenty sixteen with was the offensive coordinator in Kansas City and falls was playing there, but he only played three games during that season albeit in a pretty solid fashion I just don't know that we know enough about falls in the system, nor do we necessarily know enough about foles as starting quarterback, even though he's been around for such a long time and such familiar name to say that he's the clear guy in this situation. Well, I was at the last nick. Foles victory I was at the double point game and I can tell you after that game I saw grown men in tears with the Double Dunkin and foles ability to to manage a team in certain situations i. feel like that is a winner. And when you have on your team, it brings the best out of everybody else look. trubisky has been there. He's been there awhile. We know what he is nick. Foles has done some miraculous. Miraculous things in the past now last year he got, he broke his collarbone. Is that his? No, it's not I think that they would have had a different season last year. If Nick foles not break his collarbone so with an off season. That is weird and look at all this stuff going on. We don't know what's going to happen with Training Camp I. Get it, but I think that nick. Foles is a better quarterback for what they want to do as a team. Louis if that's the case and either way, Nick foles is the new arrival here. Why is he a good federal, potentially a good fit for this nagy offense? There's two components to be a good fit right Wendy there's the relationship aspect. It's the familiarity aspect that nick has that with Matt Nagy and Remember Madison? A disciple of Andy Reid Andy Reid was the one who drafted Nick foles when we were all together in Philadelphia so. By relationship there, but mat knows exactly what he can do on the football field, the kind of things that Matt it's GonNa. WanNa, do schematically fit with Nick can do mets GonNa want move. The PUCK WANNA use plaques on first down. Appeals on one of change, the launch point and get people out on the printer. He can do that. He's when I attack the middle of the field with isolated matchup with receivers in the slide. Can do that navigate the pocket. Put the ball on time and a good spot for wide receiver, the catch and run mets gonNA WANNA take shots down the field on third down. He's GonNa want to attack outside the numbers he did that he did that. In the first game of the season against Kim city chiefs last year before he got hurt and you saw he put it right on the money. So look it would be a shock. It will be an upset. Nick, foles `ISMs disorder to me and I have been as big a supporter of Mitch. Trubisky, as anyone, probably the number one support without a doubt, it will be a shock to me if nick foles is not the starter because of the familiarity aspect, and because of how motivated Nick foles is to play this season improve. I didn't come in here to be. Anybody's bridge would be anybody's backup or to support anyone else I'm a super bowl winning quarterback and I'm GonNa take this team. Team as far as I can possibly take it, and that starts by me winning this quarterback job, which I expected to do both Nick, foles, and Mitchell, trubisky as we mentioned before have a forty nine Qbr over the last three seasons. Guys, thank you to show Jackson meanwhile has an idea fellows, he says. If in fact, we don't have fans in the stands. When the NFL season returns, all players should be miked up. Everybody Jeff Darlington. We'll have an opinion about this. What is yours? Look. I love the idea. I think it's a fantastic idea. I would love to see it happen, but we saw what happened with Sam Darnold when it came to seeing goes to the sideline. We're not ready to hear the honesty and my kids crying in the background because need go put. Right there with you, so maybe this is a little demonstration might be dealing with. Exactly, don't do it I'm sorry. Rodney rich assuming there's a young child in your office there, what do you think? They're upstairs. Unless you want to hear a lot of snorted. If, you want to hear a lot of snorting and growling and grunting, if you if you might up offense and defensive line, that's all you're going to hear guys, growling and yelling, and like you're not going to get as much so i. feel like they're doing it pretty good right now. With just the special guys that are the quarterbacks, receivers and your linebackers. You've Mike everybody up. It might be a little too much well yup tate. See what can happen. Lewis you never. Yeah. You never hear kids crying. All messed up. I. Don't know if you WANNA make up everybody I mean come on. I mean Darlington I can't even really answer this because I'm so thrown off by the chaos. Going on your house getting together over there. Where do we get an appearance? I mean at least say bye. Now. Short..

"The receiver to help them? Think about a radiant above end up setting them because they don't have strong wide receiver play. How much of a chip would Aaron Rodgers have on his shoulder? I just love the anticipation of both these. Ask Listen to eight. They both want to be known as the best. Qb Brady wants to have a better season last year. You know Aaron Rodgers will take a thirteen and three record and do something with it not losing the NFC championship game. This a big match up with a lot of implications and not just for that that Sunday but for afterwards because of what happened in the crash. Listen that's not a chip on Aaron Rodgers Shoulder. Mount Everest like the entire living chain. Go ahead Marcus. Marcus in the Diana will get to go. I'll just look it is jeff and Diana. I know I know for the sake of TV. We say in these matchups. Y'All down y'all WanNa see brees and Brady better than anybody else. Any other game in the League. Tell the truth tell the truth Saturday. Aaron Rodgers and brain is pretty. Good too I I. I have to say frady because I. I think that Aaron is looking at Brady going. Is this being mean a few years and by going to leave the organization that I thought I would stay at forever. I'm beloved. I've I've become the best quarterback and they took place in my good hassle leave Green Bay one day. That's why I think that game. It's like backless user game all right. We can all agree to disagree. Marcus Hotel in me are. Yo- telling me the two hall of Famers to top Tier quarterbacks of all time or in the same division with two possible Super Bowl contenders and that's not the most intriguing matchup which I'll just say it. That's what you want me to believe. Well now in fairness the question was what are you most looking forward to. I mean you know what we should all be looking forward to different. They're gonNA play twice. We're going to see and Hank Aaron Rodgers. I just like every windy. Just his shoulder. That's what I'm tired of. The embarrassment of riches Tom Brady has down in Tampa exposes what he could have had if they would have drafted it that way. That will show you everything you WanNa know. The Diana's point or the windy point Mister Rogers will understand. It will not be. He will not be ending his career in Green Bay. He will be like most of us going somewhere else to finish it out. Oh boy all right well listen in addition to those high profile matchups which we can at least agree. They all are. We will also find out a few things when we see reunion games. Those are always circles including Odell Beckham. He will face his old team. The browns will play the giant at met life and that of course the site of Beckham's first five seasons in the NFL. There's a good way to forty nine. Ers quarterback Jimmy G. Back in New England to face Bill Bell Jimmy G. spent his first three seasons in Foxborough. Is the backup to Tom Terrific. He did start two games during his tenure New England and one. Vote the cowboys. GotTa deal done with a quarterback this week but he wasn't named Dak Prescott. Andy Dalton side with the team re energizing. The question about win a deal with that could get done team. Exotic Stephen Jones addressed the contract situation and the addition of Dalton on Wednesday obviously has no bearing on that. And you'll be back by of our franchise now for many years to come. We've gotta get his contract You gotta get over that hurdle ultimately get done but to have a guy like Andy Dalton come in and you're not like Chili head Nick foles when Carson Wentz went down to be able to you know take control and You know when Games when you games for you. That's what you need is really important. Certainly late head on your pillow better at night knowing someone my game to lead the playoffs as for the aforementioned he addressed the media and a conference call yesterday as well and discuss these his role in. Dallas this year and moving forward my mind is I'm GONNA be the Trying to be the biggest tax team. Try to help out as much as I can. So obviously it's a different perspective for me. I've been a starter the last nine years. I'm trying to set myself up for my the best this for the second half of my career You know the starter on this team and I'm here if for some reason if anything were happening for him to go down. I'm going to be able to invest in. Then you're gonNA came to help the team win Diana Andy Dalton saying all the right things really that's what we've come to expect from Dalton but let me ask you about the Dak situation and if there's been any movement whatsoever yeah right now it's status quo as we've been reporting over the last few weeks. Both sides still claim that they're they're close. They're just not there yet. But when I just WanNa peel back maybe maybe what went down about a week ago and I just found this out because we really thought antidote was GONNA wind up in Jacksonville. It was almost surprising that Dallas was the landing spot. We know the Dallas was talking to his agent but it seemed that Jacksonville was perfect. I found out that basically what happened there was any was told. You will not be the starter. This is Garner. Menchu's job so there will be no competition here at all and of course. We know the backstory Andy being from Texas. That makes sense. The pressure's off. But there's always that small chance that maybe DAX sits out so that competitors the fight that we've seen Andy that's not gone away. He wants to give back. You always felt that Dallas was the best way. They're all right mark. Listen DIANA'S RIGHT. It's a lot of status quo. They've got until July fifteenth to get this done nevertheless for nothing getting done we. We seem to talk about it an awful lot and I do think there's a reason for that. I'm so sick of recycle. My brain on his winded knicks conversations with people and know and everybody keeps telling me that that can the deal will get done. We hear Stephen Jones Jerry Jones. We only have seen ten guys get signed before they signed their franchise quarterback and getting the contracts are difficult. But I keep telling people winning the hail the last time we seen a franchise quarterback presumably not saying before. All of these other things transpire like. I'm having a hard time going through my Rolodex in my brain looking at contracts. Come and go for. Nfl quarterbacks that are do you know Joe. Jacobi Brusett gotTa deal done when Andrew lucked decided to retire. Do you know that Teddy signed that? Three hundred sixty three million dollar deal and did not play but five games last year. All of these things dead keep adding up to the fact that that is going to get a deal. There is a big pause and I think the foundation that is and I'm GonNa Pass it off the job because I'm getting hot and I'm getting emotional and I need to seven. You gotTa take a very effective at. I know I really. Don't it's gotTA BE DALLAS? Doesn't feel like daggers. Worth what he's asking for Jeff Komo with in this situation. I Jeff Listen. I'll say this the longer this goes on and the more folks who get deals in place it is hard to dispute some of what. Marcus has asserted here and he said it. I will say Marcus will second that from the very beginning. Yeah I couldn't agree more. I mean listen. You're talking about you. Signed a nine year veteran to to this deal to be quote your backup when when Stephen Jones tries to use the similarity of Nick foles and Carson Wentz Nick foles was not a nine year starter in a League. Taking the team to the playoffs. That that's a completely different role. Did those two guys heard and I can assure you andy. Dalton would love nothing more but to be the starting quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. Because that's what he's built for. The guy's been estar. Cut some point when you're talking about a quarterback that had to wait for his running back to get paid his receivers to get paid as a Lineman to get aid another and not even talking about what's going around the league. At some point you begin to think. Maybe they don't want me as much as I as I thought did and I can tell you I'm in his camp. I'M GONNA sign that gender and I'm kirk cousins on them and I'm Keith. Kirk cousins until I stack my bank and he's or until they give me my number because at this point you show me your card you went and put a guy play it is not a quote backup and a lifetime. Backup this the guy who can push for my job or potentially you forgive my job and so as I'm looking at that I'm about to get paid a and they're still get contentious now like we. We've gotten there it. Yeah we we no longer is. Oh Man we're all playing Koumba. Ya No this is. This is serious business right here. Listen I will say this so I if there's one thing I can say I'm happy. That kirk cousins become a verb. I'm GONNA go kirk cousins on him and he got his. That's that's clear..

"Mean beef-eating to you Arthur. Call Man. He put that together. I mean leave it. Garden mullet mullet a little earring and everything everything all right listen speaking of tiger. How about this? We talked about earlier. Tweet what do you got? What is that? Is that why you not unique art? Marcus was by being. How about this Tiger Woods? Now with tigers plane with tigers playing with Peyton peyton fills play Tom. Who You got jeff Saturday. We'll start with you. Go around who got. I got to think about it. I don't know very fading obvious. I'm going I I mean come on guys GonNa Happen. Get victory is still off in the sunset. What with another victory. He's retired to thompson out retired so he gets up. He's got to play. Marcus what do you think you know taking Taivon Peyton to the fact that I feel one one last year when they hit the head so gotta get him back and being paid. No have anything to do he. He don't want to do anything other than what he wants to do. So many things playing he's GonNa have more practice than tone I- Diana we're going to hear from these guys. I gotTA GOTTA here here. You Got I O. I think Tom's too busy. Trying to figure out. The playbook lives if you can figure out how to GET AROUND DEREK. Jeeter south so as well Here here's a here's these guys. Listen up familiar with this Obviously fit perfect. Thank you and this is the trophy for the. I don't know actually tell you if you know what this looks like. You might have out of wins. But that's that's actually trophy like had you have one still hold on. I just got an ice bath. A look at chilly. Well well true I mean let the trash talking again. I love it. Hello everybody and happy to have you with us on this Thursday afternoon. I'm Wendy Knicks out there somewhere Diana Rossini Marcus Spears and Jeff Saturday hopefully not for long because ESPN has obtained a memo. Sit last night by Commissioner. Roger Goodell to all thirty two teams detailing protocols for the gradual opening of team facilities plan would start with specific staff members and later the extended the players. The League wants teams to be ready to implement this first days by May fifteenth just over a week from now in the proposal. It states that local and state governments bus consents reopening in that clubs may permit up to fifty percents of non player employees. Close must also create an infection response team a written plan for newly diagnosed cases as well as an infection control officer who oversees all aspects of the implemented guidelines and each employee returns to work must receive covert nineteen safety and hygiene training Diana. What have you been hearing from teams players as we learned about this initial face? Yeah Hey this is actually a really good first step. Everyone's really positive and optimistic. That this is good signs for things to come but talking to different teams today. It really seems like this is a case. By case basis meaning depending on which organization is in which city slash state is basically. How they're going to move forward on this. So depending on how their government rules are we're their facility is based on the decisions that they make that being said every team is trying to get back in their building while use virtual meetings have been going really well from what. I can gather talking to both coaches. Gm's and even the players side of this one head coach. Put it to me best today. He's this is great that we're able to meet virtually we're getting a lot out of it in terms of installing our play but until we can actually go out there and do it. We can't really know or tell it players really comprehending so this is still just a first step but the way I understand at this point. It's a very slow for step into getting back to normal. All Right. Jeff from the players prospective. What would your initial questions? Be Your cautiously optimistic. Like everybody about you know if you how how do we? How do we get moved in right? If you're not from that city if you're from a surrounding city or or state and you're having to get there. Are you allowed to bring family as your family? Leave your family back home. All the different questions about the amount of time you're going to be allowed at the facility. Because I'm sure they're going to have some types of of things restrictions on that type of stuff so from a player's perspective it. How how do you make sure you're taking care of your family as all this is going on you know just as the guy who fit fourteen years in locker room. I know I want my family with me if at all possible. But you just don't know those kinds of questions so those would be the things I would be asking to. Diana's point about understanding playbook all that most guys other than rookies understand how to kind of catch up on that learning curve. I think it's just normal life which we're all trying to learn. The new normals would be the questions that guys would ask them. You Got Fathers Husband. Is You name it? They've got guys who have parents who live with them. Whatever that may be all those questions are going to have to be asked to make sure that when you're coming back home from the facility you know what does that look like so I think those are the questions that will be asking at the beginning. Slowly move forward. Yeah Jeff makes a great point because I think sometimes when we get into the heavy football discussion we we tend to leave out the fact that these guys go home to people and family and dealing with that agents trainers massage therapists the people that use chefs the people that you use of football season. That's one thought but as a player US may would be. What's the fluidity of it? What are what are the repercussions if we have to start and stop what will be the what will our I guess? What will the organization want us to do as players beyond when we're just at the facility? There's a lot of things that come along with it. I think the NFL has done a tremendous job though they want to steal continue and that's most businesses until you obviously get a higher higher board or government saying hey guys we can't the city of yet you want to have fluidity you want to have these dates that you have a goal set and hopefully that they work Allen and also have plans in place in case you have to start and stop so. I think they've been daughter tremendous job and as a player. You want to get back to work but you want to get back to work making sure that is safe for you to go back to work and still be able to live life outside of when you're in that facility as well but it's hard look guys we've had this conversation and we're going to continue to talk about it and a lot of people watch sports back as do. I very very badly. The thing that we all have to realize is that this is one fluid and we're going to have to continue to make adjustments as we go and this is a first time thing that anybody's dealing with this has ever had to deal with it so I just would tell fans and everybody else to keep that in mind as the NFL and all of these other leagues try to sift through how to move. Forward is trucks are reopening and we want it bad and Marcus. I do want to echo one thing. You said because I don't know that we always give credit where credit is due. I think we've seen some pretty effective leadership from the NFL. And I do think the plan in place is meant to be both effective efficient and safe but again we'll all have to adjust as we go speaking of which the full NFL schedule will be released tonight. And we know that opening night will be on Thursday September. While the rest of week one starts September thirteenth. The chiefs begin their title defence than with drew. Brees and Tom Brady and the same division. Now we will see them go head-to-head twice breeze and Brady ranked one and two all time in both passing yards and passing touchdowns. You know they love this. And we might have a match up of the two top quarterbacks taken in the twenty twenty draft Joe Borough and to what Tunga up vote came in with one win apiece against each other Diana again. I'll start with you for reaction in what an early sneak. Peak may look like for the schedule. I can't wait for tonight as much as I just want to tell everybody what the schedule looks like. Because I've been making some calls and get some text messages. Ridha keep that reveal for tonight but You know there are a lot of rumors going around over the last twenty four hours about how the schedule will look. Perhaps there'll be some non conference games to start off this season. I can tell you. That's not going to be the case. This schedules good to look exactly the way it would look if it was a regular normal seventeen game season for these teams so at this point all we can really do now is just sit back and wait for those team. Twitter handles to reveal those schedules thirty minutes before. Espn we'll have their special tonight. But for me is just going to be looking at those teams that are going to have those really difficult. Schedules out on the road Late in the season for me. That's all we always lock in on. Who's going to have that challenge? Jeff what's the first thing as a player when when you know it's coming out and you get the schedule for the first time what's the first thing you look for when the bye week is reality. Is you think the by weekends a competitive advantage you know. Is it GonNa be the you know the early in the season where we get it? You know In the latter portion of season you want it in the latter part of the season. You can get kind of a refreshing week as you're trying to enter the playoff.

"Field before we get into the draft. The most important question. How's the new puppy meter? I have not slept very much recently. I heard a lot of things about being a first time. Parents whether it's of a canine or a human and I don't think I was properly prepared but that's okay because the dog is ridiculously cute. He brings us a ton of happiness and he's decreased as number of accidents exponentially since the day that we first picked him up field. Yates is an NFL insider for ESPN and the proud parent of a new golden retriever. Well let's hope that NFL GM's or more prepared for tonight's draft for your new puppy field. You and I have been covering the draft for a while now but this is a draft unlike any other. Let's start with the really obvious question. Functionally how is this going to work? Well football guys are often the most tech savvy of individuals. But they're going to have to be for three days starting tonight. While general managers or head coaches that make the final decision on their personnel are not going to be in the same place as their cohorts in the front office. They're going to be connected so I have three screens up here to the right to the left will be draft needs as well as team by team grades and boards have to twenty seven inch monitors your that touchscreen for me on the left side would be the offense draft board on the right side will be the defense draft board will be operating from my board. It'll be sent out. Everyone can follow my moves. You'RE GONNA see a lot of general managers or head coaches with seven eight or ten monitors in their Home Office and basically the draft is going to kind of work comparably the how. It did many many years ago when it was a dial in draft. It's going to be one person responsible for much of the Legwork to communicate to the league who the are selecting so you're an NFL GM. You're on the clock. You just have to call in your pick right. I mean it doesn't seem that complicated. He actual execution of calling in the pig. Meena should be the easy part where think it becomes a little bit. Trickier is just the idea that the draft is a very collaborative process and basically everything beyond pick one has some element of mystery. So it's a matter of how quickly you can react and process what has happened ahead of. You will also doing so from potentially hundreds of miles away from the people that you most trust. Were also working on these decisions with her so the NFL has said we will have a failsafe. If something goes wrong for you calling in your pick we can stop the clock. But as you point out the technological issues might not stem from actual league executing the pick but processing information communicating with your staff can the NFL or will the NFL. Stop the clock. If you have problems on that front I think the NFL basically has said like they are going to use reasonable judgment to stop the clock if need be in a legitimate issue of mouth bunch. You can't have a team that on the clock and at nine minutes and forty five seconds into a first round pick which is only ten minutes and then call up the League office and say. Hey we've got an issue in like there's going to be a way and I'm not quite sure how the NFL will do this. But they will have to find a way to regulate and prevent teams just taking their time so the League held a mock draft on Monday to test how the virtual draft would proceed. How did the TESCO yeah so the? Nfl's mock draft on. Monday went like this. They took the initial order of the first round with the bengals and finished with the chiefs. They began with Cincinnati. Who TRADED THE PICK TO THE TEAM? Sixteen slots behind them. Which was the Dallas Cowboys? The cowboys were then to make a pick and the next operation would be the Redskins who had the second overall pick in the draft where to trade the pick to the Pittsburgh steelers. At which point they would make a selection. The problem is before the draft really even got going in earnest the NFL dealt with some technological glitches on the very first big. When the bengals run the clock there was a glitch that lasted about two and a half minutes and there are variety of them and speaking to people who were part of that exercise it certainly sounded a little bit clumsy at the beginning of it. Now that being said Mia I have heard from several people that have pushed back and said I know you guys had fun with it on twitter. We're glad that we got it out of our system early. We'd much rather deal with those curveballs during a Monday. Mock draft simulation that during Thursday night so after the initial hiccups things went very smoothly. We have been seen pictures of the different GM setups. We heard that Matt Patricia. And the Lions I think he's got a the. It guys in a Winnebago on his driveway. I believe is the last thing we heard big. It's actually over at GM. Bob Quinn's house. That's taking measures to the extreme to ensure that you have the proper connectivity and as we know the lions are one of the teams that has been heavily speculated onto potentially be a trade team tonight and the last thing the Bob Greenwood one would be to be in the middle of a phone call with a perspective trade up candidates and not be able to execute that trade because of Technological Ham traits would be the thing I think most affected by all of this right not the actual execution of a preplanned pick but the frenzy of communications that sometimes happen on draft night before big trade. They'll try to have some of these trades worked out before Thursday but when word gets out that the eagles are moving up for CD lamb. What's a chance? Another team is able to communicate or put forward a rival offer for the pick and it also creates a scenario. Where if what you're referencing happens. What are the repercussions if a team reneged on a deal? Is it the Honor Code that allows a deal to hold up if it was agreed to prior to the draft? I think that's a very slippery slope. And the other thing about making deals prior to the draft is that they are executed with a preconceived idea of what's going to take place well other than like picks one through three everything else requires so many different alternative plans that if something goes in a way that one of the two. Gm's involved in a trade did not anticipate what's going to prevent that GM from saying. Hey you know something. We had talked through the innovations of this deal. But I'm just not comfortable making it anymore. So you're saying is while we might not have glitches or hacking we could have chaos. We absolutely could have chaos which is great and I always appreciate when people ask me in advance of the draft. What's the biggest surprise going to be to which my report is? If I knew this was going to be it would be much of a surprise that being said it feels Meena like we are less informed about all of the nuances and details of the process than we normally aren't right. We haven't had pro days. We haven't had the chance to say. Oh well we happen to see again. This is just making it up here. Rick Spielman the Vikings GM was at the Alabama pro day and then he was also in Virginia Pro Day. We haven't connected those dots. What about the players? I mean normally there at the draft dot always some of them have their watch parties at home. What does this experience going to be like for them? It's definitely different but I appreciate it. Some of the players that have taken this time to reflect Meena and share that. Hey the place that I wanNA be. Most on one of the most special nights of my life is with the people that have been there with me from the start of this journey so I've appreciated all the players that have shared that while they're not going to be on a stage and I'm imagining. None of them will be wearing well. These most of them will not be wearing one of the very fancy suits that we often see during draft night. And they won't get to do their dock with commissioner Roger Goodell or bear hug or Christian Wilkins leap last year. That we saw was mendes. I do think these players will still have an appreciation for the moment. I think the biggest difference beyond the players not being there. It's just the fan atmosphere right. It has created such a great vibe around the draft and that's something that is impossible to replicate tonight and that to me will be one of the missing.

"So Liz Jerry goes to Alabama story program and there's a fair about a competition there. What was it like for him as a Freshman? It was hard. He said he wanted to go to Alabama for one big reason. He said he wanted to champion. But the other thing you really liked about it was he had all these coaches were saying. Oh Yeah you're gonNA start right away. Promising him that and Nick. Sabin was the only hurt. You didn't say that he didn't get to play a lot. When he went to Alabama Gold Touchdown. It was very crowded on the depth chart. Calvin Ridley was there and he's a superstar. But you've also got this recruiting class. That is very talented. And Jerry's not the only guy there so jerry was going to have to wait and he didn't want to wait and it was frustrating he wasn't really gonNA get his chance instill sophomore year when Ridley declared for the draft so after Calvin Ridley who he grew up playing football by the way which is crazy after he goes in enters the NFL draft taken in the first round. There's a little bit more room for Jerry to break out. There is sophomore year when Ridley is gone. Jerry takes off. He has a huge game against Ole miss with one hundred. Thirty nine yards throws long behind the defense in stride. Fifteen five thirty bucks touchdown. Seventy nine yard wins the bulletin cough award. He leaves the FCC touchdowns Downfield Shot Jerry to to target quickly sixty two. The book glitter. How does his junior year ago? You know his junior year is once again impressive. But he doesn't have the stats. He had a sophomore year because once again the depth charges pretty loaded junior year. They don't make the national championship game. You know the citrus bowl team like Alabama isn't as meaningful because they're used to being one of those final four teams playing but he opted to play. He had a monster game against Michigan. Jones throws it deep inside the third down around the twenty yard long over two hundred yards receiving and and really sort of capped his career in the best way possible and then right after that he declared the draft. Liz Judy declared I remember. He was pretty widely seen as the number one guy but then other guys sort of rose on people's boards. Cd Lamb Henry Rugs. Just Jefferson diegan's. This class is absolutely stacked. How does it compare with previous wide? Receiver classes. I think you'd have to say it's unprecedented. And I know we use that word and like personally a lot but you know you can compare sort of the top end talent to two thousand fourteen with Odell and Sammy Watkins and Mike Evans in those guys you know. I think the might have been seven. Who won the first round that year but the thing that makes this such anomalies just the sheer volume of talent just to give you an idea of how deep this draft is? I mean there's a decent amount of analysts who are saying that in the first one hundred picks that twenty of those guys could be receivers twenty percent of the draft so many of these guys are juniors too so you wonder it's like as these guys started to come out you know sometimes in classes you'll see a players. Think well I'M NOT GONNA come out if there's all these other receivers in the draft will deter these guys this year and I think it's because they have a lot of confidence in their abilities and I was talking to one former. Gm WHO said you know why not come out if you stay. You're risking injury for another year. And if you come out now then your one year closer to second contract but I do think that set that just the glut of these dyes very well might drive down. No worthies were were. Some of the top receivers are any of them. Might get picked. You know why. Pick a guy in the first round if he can you know if you can pick a couple in the later rounds it'll be interesting to see how that all shakes out so this is obviously an unusual draft insofar as it's not happening at a physical location there are not pro days and physicals and that sort of thing which. I imagine doesn't hurt a receiver like jury duty as much others given. How much tape. There is out there on him but he still has to get ready for it right. I mean he's still hustle workout and impress these teams. He does he was training in Dallas before the combine and then he went back home to south Florida in one of the advantages of being from south Florida. Is that during this pandemic win? Almost every stage shutdown and had stayed homeowners. Florida's governor didn't issue. There's until April first. So Jerry spent you know much of the month of March working out with various guys. There's a real fraternity among NFL. Receiver there in one guy that he worked out with a little too was his old friend. Lamar Jackson Lamar was back in town. You know teams there. Ota's or up in the air with everything going on and so he was able to catch a few balls. From Lamar and Jerry also worked out with Chad Johnson. It quite a bit so you know the guys from South Florida actually probably got a little more working than pretty much. Everyone else.

"You are the League's two undefeated teams on a collision course to meet in Miami the Patriots and forty nine or remain undefeated after eight weeks surgery reward thumb surgery drew brees back doesn't miss a beat as the stage won't pass the cardinals we'll talk about what's next Dahlan's JJ WATT SEPARATING ACC. he's an ending injury the Texans Star defensive end we'll have surgery on a torn pictorial muscle that sidelined him for the next four months? We're happy to have you with us on this Monday afternoon and I'm Wendy next Chris Mortensen Ryan Clark in Tim Hasselbeck just over twenty four hours now into the NFL trade deadline we will talk about what to expect Adam Schefter will join US coming up in just a little bit but we start with an interesting move out of Denver Joe flacco critical of the teams play calling and their loss to the chargers over the weekend too hey black a ruled out with a neck injury up next for the broncos The browns here's head coach Vic Fangio who in six football team and we're afraid to go for a two minute drill you know like who cares if you give the ball back to the guys with a minute forty seconds they obviously got the field goal anyway once again we're two six football team and it just feels like we're kind of afraid to lose a game it's third and five at the end of the game who cares if they have a time out there at the end or not what do we have to lose like why can't we be aggressive in some of these situations well clearly that was actually flacco after the game I mentioned he was critical of the play calling and that's exactly what he had to say a lot about stuff you typically want to keep in house anyway you look at it though he he's not GonNa play the coach was asked if I was a possibility he said not today anyway more an interesting decision has a neck injury you're saying he does he may have suffered the neck injury in game or maybe he took it into the game or maybe after the press conference I'm not trying to be that's big of a smart Aleck because if he has significant their concern it's not fun but that was post game that press conference and and so clearly he must have had something happened in the game the exam today to make this decision to put them on the sidelines and to start Brandon Allen in this next gaming Brown it's it's unacceptable I mean for me it is beyond a sec yeah not that he's wrong I happen to agree with Joe FLACCO and terms of game management but it just unacceptable to have your quarterback who most of the time is one of the leader probably all the times one of the leaders on your football team to be so publicly critical of your team strategy at the end of the game if you don't like it go talk to your coach about airing it that way it's no different than a receiver complaining that he's not getting the ball enough or you know he's not involved I get enough targets or any of that stuff I leave out of balance for quarterback to do something like that and you know if it has something to do with why they think it makes sense to have them out I would end up groomed well having snug that though if that's the case and you say is totally unacceptable. I think you'd probably have a lot of people who agree with you why not then say if your Denver if in fact this is curative in any way this is a decision always in part because of what he said I'll be honest you know I'll always kind of giggling earlier because you do think that this is curious timing for sure and then when you see Joe Flacco after the game he didn't look like someone who who seemed injured in that way we obviously the last play of the game he was actually hit and fumbled the ball and so it could have happened on that play he was hit from behind by somebody so I'm not laughing at that but it is it is curious timing and it's funny how these things happen you go on after the game and you say all of these things about clock management and you say these things about taking chances and you speak about being a to win sixteen guess what you're the quarterback of the two and sixteen in coming into this game you were two and five and you were the quarterback then and he's been of your play that has gotten your team to this point so sometimes you have to be accountable for those things as well and I'm with Tim Unacceptable to do this to your team to do this to your coach and now it works out that you say these things about the other people in your locker room and you're not even going to be on the field for the next game I just know this if a player goes into a safety that goes to a coach coach we stopped bringing so much pressure anymore went back and you're when you bring more the coaches are like what like I'm GonNa work with this guy that's what the players want I'm GonNa work but I I think if a quarterback goes to head coach or play caller and exactly we're in these situations were two and six let's be more aggressive I can almost promise you that they are more aggressive because guys WanNa work together on this when you do it that way it doesn't work it divides and I think that's why it's just dead wrong also think too there's no way that coach cannot be on the defensive now if I'm Vic Fangio if I'm one of the players in that locker room now I have to point the finger back at you it's not a satiated Tim says you come to me in in my office I can say you know what you're probably right we should be more aggressive here we should be more aggressive there now you have to point to him and say okay what are you doing to make this team better about winning more than you're looking for solutions and at the end of the day did this make better did this help that team find a solution ultimately I think we can all agree the answer is no therefore not the way to do it I can't argue with former players former players super former performance Brandon Alan will step in he will start for the broncos again they will play the browns another Alan will also start Ron Rivera announcing today and he did this last Monday as well that Kyle and we'll start again for the Carolina Panthers Rivera said they Cam Newton remains right in the middle of his rehab process so no change there kyle and of course went out to San Francisco suffered his first loss of the season as the starting quarterback but he more we'll get the nod once again for Carolina you'll see some people it will now that they've stopped that winning streak of his because he'd been unbeaten as a starter that maybe it was time for Cam O- obviously comes out ready and losing the forty niners the problem for every quarterback this man beaten yet that's right there's two undefeated teams which we talked about we will look more closely at the forty niners and the it's coming up I also mentioned that tomorrow marks the trade deadline four o'clock eastern to be exact and then after that it all changes so some teams trying to get things done the buzzer the jets traded Leonard Williams to the giants for a three this year and a five and the twenty twenty one draft however that fifth round pick according to our Adam Schefter sources say the giants I it will become a fourth round pick William signs a contract extension before the start of the league year the jets pain four million of Williams six million dollar salary this season you don't often see this but again going from the giants the jets to the giants it's the first trade doc between these two teams and now trades there's already been seventeen trades coming into this trade weekend deadline weekend because the NFL salary recapture bigger more flexible you can do these type of trades just interesting the jets and giants for the first time I've executed this trait and the giants wanted some defense we've line help now he this is the last year contract and the jets want draft picks they've gotta they've gotta rebuild their whole offensive line and then some right yeah I think I think the jet see this as a move toward the future you get to draft Quinton Williams early on in last year's draft so you feel like you have some stout young players they're alone with leave mcclendon who's a.

"What do you remember about that? I'll tell you what my history, he goes way back. He went to town university, which is about twenty five thirty miles from my hometown. I remember going to see him in college when I was a young kid and then watching him play with my brother in buffalo, when I was in college, and then suited up against them when I got to the pros and with the raiders going man. So I've known him a long time. Look, he was just he was one of those guys was like a machine tremendous. Tremendous condition. Very, very strong after the catch hard to bring down played with great speed and toughness can work inside and outside great report, Jim Kelly. I mean he was just one of those guys methodically you just knew was going to be there for an entire football game and for wide receiver. Like I said he was like tackling running back. He was what does this one of the great competitors? And these I mean he's so deserving being hall of Famer and considering where he came from, and he's one of the great success stories in the NFL without a doubt. Friendly, reminder that Sunday is Father's Day. And because of that we thought we'd take a look at some of the NFL, best father son combinations force. We will start with the Manning's dad Archie and sons Peyton and Eli have accounted for three hundred thirty seven wins and four Super Bowl titles among the three of them. John Bosa spent three years in the league all with the Miami Dolphins and now has two sons in the NFL. Joey already has twenty eight and a half sacks and three seasons with the chargers and his brother, Nick will make debut this year for the forty Niners play Matthews junior, and his son, play the third of accounts more than two thousand tackles and twenty two interceptions. And of course, you can't forget about the grandfather clay, Matthew senior who spent four years in the league. And I Don Hasselbeck..

"Happy to have you with us as things continued to heat up in the off season coach, and let's just start with this. You know, we talk about your experience as a quarterback and then you've worked closely with quarterbacks. What's the biggest challenge or adjustment? If you will as sort of being the CEO of an entire system rather than just working with one very important position group. Well, there's a lot more that goes onto your day. But that's not any surprise thing for any of us that are head coaches now. So it's been really exciting. It's been a good challenge. And I think we've got a great staff in place here in the players have really bought in. So it's been good. First couple months here. Lot more jump into before. I do. Let's just get some housekeeping out of the way and that is your quarterback. Andy Dalton he's had some injuries. Where is he coach in his progression? He's healthy. He's been out there. The last couple of phases. And he's ready to go on a great job taking in the playbook being a good leader for us. And again, he's one of the guys that's really bought in. And being a good leader forest right now, Zac, we've seen this as we just saw before we came in here guys who have played quarterback somewhat recently in college. You even spent a year in two thousand sixteen at the university of Cincinnati is their offense coordinator Kingsbury, we mentioned Matlock floor. We mentioned Andy Reid the chiefs coats. So the NFL is five years behind college football. What do you think he means by that? Yeah. They've certainly been very innovative at that level. There's a lot of things you see coming up in the NFL schematically right now that NFL teams are reaching down to the college level. And at times, we think we're inventing it up here. When in reality, they college teams have been doing it for many many years. And so I understand what he means by that point. And he's not wrong by any stretch. There's a lot of great stuff that that we do is every single year when we study those college teams that we use at this level kind of Kenny ask you this. I wonder is there a difference? We talked about the fact that you worked with Ryan tannehill and then Jared Goff. They're young quarterback. So we're at the time, you know, early stages their careers. Andy Dalton a veteran QB eight years, and he knows the ins and outs of the NFL. What's the difference with working with quarterbacks in those different stages? Well, he's seen all the situation. So when you install something new start talking about it from the ground level. He knows exactly what you what we're talking about. He can -ticipant what you're about to say. But at the same time he's eager to learn. Like a young quarterback. So he doesn't try to act like he has all the answers. Even though he likely does you know, he wants to learn he's eager to take notes. He wants to see a new way of doing it. And so that's been really refreshing to see a veteran that isn't stubborn or sitting in his ways, you know, he wants to see a new way of doing things, and we appreciate that as a coaching staff. As Zach, you know, what you're going through the pre-draft process evaluating players, and coaches, look at other other coaches tapes and systems that would have you is there any coach at the college level that you would like to see take a crack at the NFL. Why think a guy I've always enjoyed watching Chris Peterson from the days when he was back at Boise and Kellen Moi Kellen. Moore was the quarterback. And now it's time in Washington. He's always been a coach that I've enjoyed studying the offense of scheme that they employ. I've always thought he's very creative innovative does he really good job game planning and sacking defenses. And so I know I speak for myself. But I would imagine that there's a lot of coaches in the league that feel the same way about Chris Peterson got a takeover situation where Marvin Lewis was was there for sixteen season..

"Mitchell Trubisky to be healthy to be upright. These are the money guys. They put the people in the stands, it's sort of league is making a conscious effort to keep these guys on the field to keep these guys healthy and Klay met us. When you look at some of those hit the Mitchell Trubisky hit. That's a penalty. The hands high. Somewhat different Ryan, even the Alex Smith it, we've seen that cold before. So some of these things understand his frustration because it's three times in three weeks, but the league is going to protect these guys. The only thing I wish the league would tell them is how to do it. Correct. Tell me what he can do to not get a penalty. Tedy Bruschi grandia last week tackle the football, not quarterback now is very easy to say that it's another thing to actually do this to me is sort of like saying when you're in a car accident, make sure you duck. Get out of the, how do you know to get out of the way? He's just trying to run through the guy, but saying that I don't think the lease getting soft. I mean, this is still a violent sport and they're still a lot of hard. It's the rule is being enforced the way it should be as you said, and they're trying to clean it up. But I don't think the league's any softer, say it's an overreaction from me because I, I would agree with that sentiment and that it's not soft. Now, the difference is this like hits Ryan, you know, delivered when he was a player. Those are no longer legal, but hits that were legal when Ryan was playing safety. It wasn't the case for the generation before. I think what we know now is that like quarterback was a highly concussed position also was a position that drives interest in the game, and so we all understand why they're doing it. And I think we, we can understand that it it. It makes sense that the doing their officiating it this way and instituting rules this way. But I don't think it makes it soft when when you still see other plays, whether it's a a goal line play, whether it's a, you know, somebody fill in the hole on play. I, it's different. Now the passing game has changed. There's no question about it and in the safety position more than any other position in my opinion. But I don't think it's a soft game because still you still have to be tough to play this game. Right? And that's what and that's what's out. The other part of it is is is all relative, right? Is relatives who what things used to be when you talked to former players with some of those days that she was saying that what preceded us. They thought the game was getting soft the way that we played it and it's gonna continue to to continue to do that as long as health and safety remains in a when my dad played me NFL you could cut kickoff return. Kickoff return. You could get. So to say it's soft. Like I mean, it's like it's actually just a smarter way, just crazy soft or not. I think that's what I mean though, by its own purpose. It's intentions, impatient. It's not gonna change if they continue to stick with what they've said. So we're going to have to get used to it. A wedding is a beautiful thing. As long as it doesn't fall on a Saturday during college football season. Those Saturdays are reserved for the union of two rivals. A celebration of fans coming together to trash talk one another at Buffalo Wild.

"We gotta start giving these boys here some little. That's how they get open to be tough test against Vikings defense, threatful continuity tenable Levin starters are back, but of course they have a new quarterback eighty four million dollar man in Kirk cousins pressure. Do you think he faces internally going into? He's tried to calm down as best he can. I mean, Kirk will always say the right things to in terms of with the team game, relying on all my teammates, but even kirks gotta feel a little bit that they feel like they were basically a quarterback away from continuing their quest onto a Super Bowl. So there is some pressure on Kirk cousins. I mean, the most coveted quarterback free agent theory. They got gave him a lot of money guaranteed and none of that matters, but still they're looking at him to lead. So if there's a time in a game where maybe they're struggling authenticity. Now they're going to look to that quarterback in the huddle like you're the new guy. Now, what do you got for us? And that's. Kirk cousins have to one of the best one, two punches at wide receiver in the NFL. Stefan dig plus cook, comes back. No excuses. Be really. Which is why they're both on the Vikings as we continue your on NFL live in the late afternoon, Window's Sunday, a rematch of Super Bowl, forty eight in Denver. The legion of whom has been dissolved the ATL and now it is Russell Wilson team, Denver lost eleven games. Last season brought in case keenum in the off season to bolster the offseason times. We're making smarter decisions informed by IBM Watson, so case keenum expected to add a lot of stability and they basically have built the playbook around him. Bill must grave, went back, looked at everything. He's done back to school to make him really comfortable. What does he need to do to prove all the doubters wrong? Because it didn't look so smooth and three CS always going. He doesn't listen to the doubters. He's always had a chip on his shoulder. He's always been relegated to being a backup quarterback. That's not the case. Keenum is a guy takes care of the football and does what he's. In the past and that is throw darts over. The middle doesn't have to show you is big arm down. The field doesn't have to do all those type of things just be who he is. Take care of the football, though the quick route trust trust, run game, and understand this. He has a deep behind him that can make plays. He doesn't have to win and be the hero in Denver to win ballgames. He can be a guy that can be consistent and be himself. He think about this, the hawks defense different a lot different than it was yes, but they got a special player that starting form this week Suzy Kim Griffin now k. j. right has had a scope on his knee. So he's on the shell through week or two. So this man right here can't stop, won't stop him as as a collegiate player back at the university of central Florida. You see the pursuit in how angles don't work with blockers. And of course he ran that four three, eight forty at the combine three draft, and this is the speed he has attacking the line of scrimmage playing off the ball linebacker. Now. Siphoning those holes in the offense of lines and go and getting those tackles in the preseason..

"Been to me anyway, really, really sets in. I mean, we're not talking about six months or an ACL. This has been a long lay-off. Well, for me, actually, the operative word is trust is the first time he's really going to go out there. You know, get hurt by someone other than in a white and blue jersey and trust that you know everything is still going to be okay with the shoulder and he and he'll be all right. I just had like a partially torn meniscus a couple of weeks ago, and even I'm not an NFL quarterback like up the staff. So I can only imagine a National Football League game, what he's going through mentally just to make sure that it's okay and also anything that he's doing to retool it just to make sure that his arm is slotting in the right position and he's getting out and building that timing in that chemistry also with his receivers as well. All right, fair enough. We'll switch gears now to the Minnesota Vikings. That is good news. At least for receiver Stefan digs the two sides Vikings and dig have agreed to a five year extension. It's worth eighty one million dollars and we'll keep digs in Minnesota. A uniform for the next sixties that according to our Adam Schefter the deal runs through the twenty twenty one season and includes just more than forty million in guaranteed money at is one more piece of the puzzle, Steve for this Minnesota offense who put all their chips on the table when they acquired Kirk cousins. Kirk is a little different than case. I mean, cases is the ultimate artists in the red zone. You really see it. He's he's a, he's a little bit more of a swashbuckler, and I think the results show than the red zone cases much better. And that's where Kirk kind of slows down because Kirk much more of a scientist. He's like, he does his job very well and a lot of the NFL as you play quarterback, if you do your job in the red zone really. Well, you kick a field goal because you drop it down. The guy's not open. You just it's more of you play it a little bit more safe. So Kirk got to figure out a way to use these talented players around him in Minnesota to get that ball in the end zone, he's going to become to become a little bit more of a swashbuckler, take some risk, do some things that are a little bit outside of his comfort zone. I think that'll be important for Kirk to come in because I think case, I think they got used to that. I think they like that swashbuckling that you saw the end of the playoff game. You see the chance that chances they took an pays off. I gotta fill into those shoes a little bit. Let me ask you this. Steve, is this. A case of apples and oranges, two different quarterbacks, or is this a clear upgrade with Kirk cousins? It's a subtle difference. I think that Kirk is he's a guy that again, he's the science part of it, which is a big part of the game. He is really, really good. And I think the same thing in Washington kirks going to become an elite player. He's got to become more of an artist in the red zone and be a guy that can figure out a way to put it in there rather than just doing its job. And that to me, it's not really about upgrade or not upgrade. It's like, Kirk, can you actually raise your game into that top ten top five level when you can you have the science part now you gotta get the art, fair Nathen, coach you face. Kirk cousins, not so long ago until you saw exactly what he does, what he can do. Yeah, we played them in fifteen and sixteen when I was in Chicago, and I thought he had an excellent supporting cast and hot Bod. Will the executed that offense with the Redskins exceptionally well. They had big numbers. He was a big part of that. Not really sure what happened in y, the changes now, but you know, in Minnesota, he's got a good supporting cats as well, and I expect him to have this success..

"Tweet we showed and that is diana mentioned part of a series of tweets that were you know he's very well informed on the subject and russell knows what you can and can't accomplish in a collective bargaining situation right todd gurley saying strike for guaranteed contracts but you're not gonna get guaranteed contracts put into a collective bargaining agreement to what was his point you have to you have to go get them yourself kirk cousins got one kirk cousins said to the denver broncos the deals guide to be fully guaranteed or i'm not going and the denver broncos went and signed case keenum and the vikings said okay right and so that that that was a success story nba major league baseball these collective bargaining agreements don't have any provisions that mandate guaranteed contracts it's about a player in an agent once upon a time insisting and then another one insisting and exercising is leverage until that became the norm so the answer to russell's question about you know how do you get guaranteed contracts given the need for them in the nfl is go get him make sure you insist and tell them tell the teams negotiating with you want me this is what it's going to take 'em staring at you because i'm thinking all right there's one person here that actually played the game what are your thoughts you think nfl players deserve guaranteed contracts yeah absolutely of course i'm i'm gonna always advocate for the players but again there's wold and dan has talked about if you want something if you wanna deal like that you have to advocate for yourself to go out and go she ate that those types of deals but again this is a numbers game we're talking about the nba where you know it's four hundred fifty players in the nba whereas the nfl is seventeen hundred players much bigger pool and you talking about a sport that is a very violent collision sport so you gotta understand what the the owners are coming at the same time if we want to guarantee if we're going to go down this path not gonna really be conducive to their business so that's going to be a sticking point you're gonna have to fight over and i don't i don't the high end guys can i think can achieve that it's the gaza's in the middle into the back into roster those are the guys that i don't see them being able to get guaranteed contracts it's it's anybody who can flex some leverage right and i'm looking like look at the rookie deals right how many thirty two first round picks this year in the nfl how many would you think get fully guaranteed deals it's not all thirty two it's twenty to the twenty third pick in the draft isaiah win from the patriots his contract is ninety nine point one one percent guaranteed why why is area win say to the patriots come on you gotta be big nickel and diamond or your first round pick over one percent of the contract you lost to tackles and free agency you want explain to your fans while your number one picks nine and.

"This is how we didn't this addition of nfl live kevin watkins of the reports that demarcus lawrence and the cowboys expected to meet next week to work on that long term deal lawrence currently playing under the franchise tag plus nba twitter do not get jealous we're getting in on the woes bombs adrian wars and ascii joins the show but why and what does the nba has to do with the nfl don't worry though guys adam schefters not going anywhere don't go don't get nervous he still our guy and we're not going anywhere anything naming what he can grazziano diana rossini with you here on this friday you know there are four rookie quarterback's currently battling for starting jobs out in their respective teams get the jets the bills corners the browns in cleveland receiver jarvis landry he's said a lot about quarterbacks in general i spec in june he said that his current quarterbacks are better than what he had over miami denny sprees rookie fifth acre mayfield and now he's glowing about tyrod taylor there has been no shortage of pases hudson speak it seems in cleveland and headed into training camp head coach hugh jackson has said despite all the pinker excitement teller is going to be the starter here's jarvis landry on tyrod taylor amazing and just you know his leadership is on advocacy and he's he's ready man he's a starting quarterback and you know i'm i'm sure that obviously decision to hugh and you know office established stuff like that but i'm sure that they've been how the impressive what he's done through ot as and then they'll turn to get many oh yeah i've been both guys a highly competitive you know i know i know just having talk to bake and you know i know he wants to play you know but obviously you know just talking to them too i understand that you know he sees opportunity for him to grow at the position you know a guy like tyrod who's been to the super bowl who's a took a buffalo team hasn't been to the playoffs to the playoffs you know e e can learn a lot from todd same time so you know i think it's the competition yet but i think too at the same time you know vote guys definitely qualify for the job ida optimism in cleveland and it really was busy off season there right the guy you just heard jarvis landry he came over in a trade with miami he led the league in receptions last season with one hundred well tied for fourth nine then reliable left tackle joe thomas he announced his decision to retire of course they're gonna miss him there and then the browns traded for tyrod taylor who led the bills to their first playoff appearance ninety nine over that same stretch cleveland has used eight different starting quarterbacks we're not done just yet how about carlos high he signed in march through three or fifteen million dollar deal you rush for over twenty seven hundred yards twentyone tv's in his four seasons.

"Tune out because there's just too much football yes definitely but i think generally the trade off and people who are really devoted to that browns bengals game because they've fifty bucks on it and that is going to reverse some of the nfl's woes you know last year and i did some research on this but last year there were weeks and months where college football had more gambling in the nfl which hadn't happened in years years inches i think it may have happened in a couple of consecutive weeks in november last year and again there's a lot of reasons for that but the nfl needs gambling a little needs widespread gambling a little bit more than may people think and that's why i think it's so funny that the mlb and the nba have been working with people asking the integrity fee for a couple of years whereas the nfl is still kind of got its head in the sand the pga tour i just saw a statement that they you know they're they're gung ho about this the ufc an mls gung ho about this so the vast majority of leagues understand why this is important issue blake obviously hates it because eight anything that's a good idea but can say the same about the nfl i think yeah feels a little more open good ideas but not by much right so yeah so i just think that they're the unintended consequences that shake out from this are going to be fascinating i think it will only help the nfl but again i think other sports will be helped more danny what are you going to gamble on say if you're not gonna gamble on what are you gonna 'cause i gamble on a lot of different sports just now football iowa i'm well aware of the gambling trends and football just because i have to be and i study all the time i've done entire podcast about the gambling and efficiencies in the nfl but are you just gonna become like a i wanna become a huge nascar fan what tell me what i yeah what should i give him i feel like there's probably a lot of sports that now people are just going to become just total sharps at that that i don't think about.

"Look at this he's not comfortable in the pocket kenny foresee can but you're going to see on this here's the three men rushie wide into a cover you're gonna see these type of multiple coverage from every nfl team that he faces i go back to when he played against clemson and he got sacked by two interceptions was was overmatched in that game so we'll see how the great thing about cleveland as they don't have to rush the blam they do have an outstanding quarterback in tyrod taylor oh man you know pretty well so that do you agree with that as baker i agree that the scrutiny goes up big time when you're going to be the first dick i understand what they're saying but when i look at baker mayfield i think he's got a huge adjustment to make only six feet tall but he hasn't really played under center and he's going to have to play under under center in the nfl so when i look at him under center i don't like it he doesn't look good he's six feet that he's got a terrible state look at stanford under center what is that that's not even come on bro that's terrible but what i do that i love he's got all the throws some of these quarterbacks they gotta have all the throws you got to be able to throw over people as well through through lanes here that ball popped out of his hand gets up over the linebacker the safeties are not in play got a quick release where you can throw throw throw through defenders not over sometimes you throw through naked you bility forget yards after the catch other times playcallers they call the wrong play it's just on lockdown nobody's hoping to rant on the ball is downfield you create some offense than deliver a perfect throw that's what i love about this guy guesses got an adjustment yes right he's got full field breeds in his background and clean big time big time games again ball gets up over linebackers down in time where safeties of corners are not a factor for me that's very important and other guys in this draft i don't see that so you might overvalue that.
