They were just moving into wearing masks at the airport but every hotel we went into. They had somebody at the front door. Who Will Check your temperature? Do you have any sense of? They have that kind of intensity in Tokyo. Trying to screen for carriers not as of today at that many people have been pointing out that that's what the government should have put in place even last month and quite frankly I think South Korea one of the successes that they have is because of those early aggressive measures an in Taiwan also. I think it is very similar situation. Where even if you're sick you go to hospital. If you don't have your face mask on. They won't even let you into the hospital until you go to the pharmacy right next to the hospital by a mask in I think in Japan hospitals have started institute those protocols that they have the pharmacy right at the entrance area of the hospital. That if you don't have a face Max they politely ask you go and purchase a mask and they put it on and come back in and also though is is a hand sanitizer at the entrance of every building and that was even before this coronavirus started because Japan always have a seasonal outbreaks of flu. So they are particularly keen on those hand sanitizing throughout the year. So that's pretty much a part of the scenery any Japanese office building or any public building but especially now I think. Hospitals are more aggressive into a face mask political. I've noticed Taiwan is done an amazing job if the numbers director. They have so few people who've shown positive that it's sort of remarkable. I'm guessing that they must have really controlled people coming across the Straits from China. That's one of the more amazing things about this whole cycle that we're in the middle of indeed. I mean given the regular volume of people going back and forth. It is just remarkable. They did shut down the border between Taiwan and mainland very early on. I think as early as late January and also they have taken a couple of initial very aggressive measures of making sure that all the pharmacy has shipment of facemask for example and data highly networked society. And they have created this google map based APP where anywhere Can Punch in their address and it POPs up the all the pharmacy that near them in that shows the actual stocks of the face mask of each pharmacy so that people don't waste trips and then they also established another protocol where they also have the equivalent of our social security number and they basically start rationing purchase of those facemask attaching to your also security number. So you have to go in with your photo. Id and there are only certain days of the week that any resident in Taiwan can get their face masks or hand sanitizers and they put the amount limit per customer so that they cannot hord. So they really controlled the supply of those essentials from very early on and I think that really contributed a great deal to the containment of the virus. Listen I really appreciate your taking the time. This has been really helpful. And I'm really grateful that you take the time to chat with us. Well thank you very much Mr Speaker. The Venezuelan people hopefully will have the chance through free and fair. Elections to decide who should rule the country. And then I expect we'll see an opening for foreign investment and a chance for the economy to recover for twenty years is. Thank watts of good things will happen. I also disagree with Colonel mcgregor's characterization in Latin America, we fought a long war as an ally of the Colombians against the drug dealers and the FARC movement, and we won Colombia's a much better country today, we've worked very closely with Chile we were closely with Peru. The fact is Brazil right now is our ally and both Brazil and Colombia of the biggest interest in Venezuela are both actively on our side. So I don't think is it all accurate to characterize Latin America's hostile the United States. That speaker is excited we're excited because we haven't been studio. If you've fallen that kind of thing to robots are perfectly capable of doing. And that's probably call renaissance them focused at first that would be impressive about the five G revolution that you wrote about well, what brings us to things we often talk about the one thing that embrace focused on which is more bandwidth. The other thing that brings his low latency and low latency means you can do stuff on the cloud that you typically do on your desktop and Microsoft's coming to something called the virtual desktop, which would have your entire windows experience in the cloud. That would present itself on anything. But you anything you had anything from smart glasses to you're smart. Phone to a traditional laptop, computer. Then they they would handle all the updates patches. And make sure getting stayed working. I'm sure we would all miss terribly being at IT executive at our own house. I know I would etiquette. The the fact is we're moving to a time when much of what we do that. We typically would do wanna local device like a PC. We'll all be done in the cloud is a service that will give us a lot of flexibility in terms of where we work how we work and even why we work with rob Enderle tech analyst at the end early group. He's principal and founder of that company. And he's written an interesting piece Intech Newsworld called twenty nineteen the year. Everything changes are you wrote about artificial intelligence to. And you said, you know, it's been around in some forms as nineteen fifties and much of it has sucked. So how can we expect better things here? Well, we came out with a concept called deep learning IBM is calling deep deep data, but Tim underlying concept and deep learning goes except away from machine learning. Machine learning as well programmers program a machine to be intelligent based on real world events. What what deep learning does is the machine programs itself and that allows it to iterative machine speeds because a computer could take thousands of times faster than we can you the humid out of the loop. And suddenly, the a I becomes very intelligent very quickly. And the various what is being applied or in areas? Like litigation medicine defense, some of the advances in in terms of tensor, a little frightening. But the, but the, but at the end of the day, suddenly, we're we're getting to a point where these things are actually smart, and they're smarter than the people that created them because they're training themselves. That really is a major jump in terms of the capability of artificial intelligence. It's one of things that had a lot of us concerned. But a lot of us are very hopeful that the end result will be something that could actually cure cancer could actually provide a much much greater much better experience around much of what we do. But particularly with regard to medicine makes rob tech analyst, rob Enderle principal and founder of the Enderle group. Thirty minutes after the hour on this weekend..

"It's not going to leave your package in your apartment or your living space. It's going to just leave it in the building. So it's kind of limited in that regard. It's not meant for single family homes such as what Amazon key is doing with their camera and smart lock and or their access to be ical trunks as well. So this is very limited by comparison, but it's a start in it's great for this use case. So I wrote about this company latch that UPS as working with in the idea here is there's a lot of apartments that don't have dormant. I mean, I lived in New York City. I had a non doorman building, so they either leave it out while they don't leave. Out front and an apartment building, but the apartment building canal basically denote like a bail closet, and then you can get it get your package when the time comes. So I think this is great is going to be useful for a lot of people that do not have the traditional single family homes, and it's a really big deal for latch which is a start up. And so we'll see. I think it's really, I like it. Two things come to mind. One. I never knew you lived in New York City. Really. I live near right after college. I didn't know you in college to this could extend to other delivery services unveiling like pizza, Chinese food, etc. That is very, 'cause I are plan. Yeah. Yes, yes, yes. So the latch door locks, they control access in and out of public areas in these apartments, but they also can be placed on the resident doors as well. So what can happen there then is this could go further UPS probably doesn't want it to go further because they don't want their delivery guy having to go down an apartment making all these. Deliveries that seems kind of crazy when you could just dump it in a male closet. But yes, for service providers for pizza delivery, whatever getting through delivers groceries, you could say, latch has a foot in the door went went San. All right. Also in the luck Newsworld a similar startup. This is a start up called open path. They just raised twenty million dollars instead of residential Oxy's guys are providing smartphone based access to buildings offices. So they are very similar except I think of it kind of like August, partially because I went to August blocks, you know, offices when they were starting out in these guys, give smartphone access to a building. So the sand stead of having your lake NFC card or RV card, whichever you know, I've only worked in one building where I've had a card kind of situation, so I'm like, I'm not a little unfamiliar with it, but this election. So these guys raise twenty million dollars. It's a large amount of money they've been. I've written about them before. I've been doing this for, I think about two years. So it looks like we're kind of slowly upgrading our access infrastructure. Woo woo. And we actually have a lock related question in our listener voicemail. A little bit later on the show just wanna point that out because there seems to be a very big difference between industrial or office enterprise locking and home locking. So a leave it at that for now. Yes. All k- final lack store for you until we get to the voice mail. August says it has one million users users users not customers with law yet lock sold. So I don't have an August lock on my door, but I am technically an August user because I.
