Yeah, whispering to me. I just said, we've been blowing my ear from long distance and started worrying me. We're doing about politics with NBC News. Political director check. Todd, moderator of Meet the Press and host of MSNBC's mtp daily at one began following on Twitter. By the way at Turk, Talk more to you, Chuck. Well, Good morning, Jimmy. How are the the The mandates of the Bite Administration has put down for vaccines going in Washington, given all the, uh, federal employees. There, is it. Uh, is there an uproar or not? Uh, the uproar depends in on where you stand on this and where you live a little bit around here. There's a little bit more support for vaccines a little bit more, Uh, openness to mandate. In this geographic area. I think sometimes you know the federal government employees that live around here. I don't think you're gonna you know, and they were already subject to a mandate. But what you're seeing? I mean, this is It's really interesting what the president chose to do here because he had resisted the idea of of a mandate coming from the top for months and indicated even before he took the oath, um, that he didn't think it was a good idea. It was campaign problems. So, uh, you know, he obviously made his rationale clear yesterday of why he, uh, is shifted on this. And I think this is gonna Look, is this action He. There was a lot of people pressuring him to do something stronger on Covid. So he went stronger. It's going to get a strong reaction, right? We're going to see some court fights. You're going to see some governors push back hard. You can see some elected officials pushed back hard, go to court. Uh and we'll see what happens. Polls seem to indicate that there is A durable majority. I wouldn't say it's you know, it's not 70 or 80%, but it's in the 50 to 60 range. That are in favor of mandates in general, uh and and the number gets higher when you say mandates for health care workers and teachers. Um On that front, so I'll be curious to see what the reaction is. Now that this is actually being implemented as this fight starts, But I think The battle over Covid is going to get louder is probably the best way to look at it. Yeah, it probably is. How much of this is his desire to not talk about Afghanistan? Well, I would say that the two in some ways go hand in hand. I mean, I think you talked about this before. I think covid that the core of his political problems you know, As I said at the very first day of his presidency as Covid goes, so goes the Biden presidency. Afghanistan certainly didn't go well. But at the end of the day, the public You know Covid the number one number two and number three issues that people are concerned about because it's impacting their lives, whether it's how their kids go to school, whether it's how they work, so I I don't. I think Afghanistan certainly has added to his problems and I think in the same way, I don't know if you remember it this way, Jimmy. But, you know, people had a criticism of the Iraq war before Katrina happened to Bush. But then Katrina happen and more people lost confidence in his ability to manage the Iraq war. I think that is something Biden. People have to be concerned about that there were already people upset about Covid before Afghanistan, but the handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal Is raising more questions with some people about whether he can manage this crisis of covered. You know what I mean? They it can it can erode what a mistake in one area can erode confidence in another happening in Iraq, and it could happen here with Yeah, There's no doubt about that, Um, you know he needed to win he needed. For example, the The Housewives of Philadelphia in the rural areas. Um, is he losing that group of individuals? I mean, is that the difference in margin of victory margin defeat And will he pay for that going forward? The biggest group of voters that have moved away from him. Jimmy and our analysis is what I would sort of be the hardened independence and when I call them hardened independence. These are people that say they don't even lean to one party or the other. Um, and it's about 13% of the electorate. He is seen his number swing 20 plus points with them, and it's really the only group that moves. Um, it's an interesting group. Look, I think I think the the viruses can do what the virus is going to do, and this is doing what it's done in other parts of the world. Florida is a warmer climate. We tend to come indoors during the summer, and this is probably the reason why we had the people and we had the peak. Now it's just getting cooler in the Northeast. They're going to wind up having some issues and so other country, other states around around the globe around the country and then it'll start to wane. Latest report is incomplete because of the Labor Day holiday, Of course, the Department of Health and Human Services Said. Covid hospitalizations in our state are well under 14,000. I'm from nearly 17,000 that was just two weeks ago. Nearly 47,000 Floridians have died from Covid since the solo part of the pandemic. Let me put this in perspective. We've got 22 million Floridians. Infection numbers are still rising in the Midwest and Great Plains in the Northeast, but at much slower rates, particularly in states that have high vaccination numbers, And so you wonder whether or not as it gets colder, whether that'll increase because people are heading inside. It just seems to make sense. Seem to remember that President Trump talking about this At one point people laughed at him, but okay? What Is a Breakthrough COVID-19 Infection?

"Dr Deborah and Mulligan, professor at Nova Southeastern University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. She is board certified in pediatrics and emergency medicine as welcome our dear doctor. Good morning, Jimmy. Let's talk about little bit about breakthrough infections. I think I saw that about 83 85% of the people hospitalized in the state of Florida. Were not vaccinated, but there are some And that's the breakthrough infection. Right? That's what we call it. Tell us about this. Yeah, sure. So, you know, we had a really good vaccine driven strategy for the vaccinated. It was supposed to be a worry free, hot back summer of socializing and fun. That was before Delta. You know, this tough, formidable folks spoil their plans and rising covid breakthrough infections. Among fully vaccinated is a reminder that these vaccines are not a silver bullet. Nor is the mask a full proof invisibility cloak. So let's define what is the definition of vaccine breakthrough infection for our listeners. It's the detection of SARS Kobe to RNA or antigens. Collected from a person more than 14 days after they completed recommended doses of covid 19. So I have had patients who were diagnosed with Covid Illness, but they hadn't been fully vaccinated. So, for example, maybe you got the first shot. It was a week later, they hadn't got their second shot. So Jimmy, these vaccines are intended to prevent severe illness. That was the end point, and they're doing that. They were not intended to prevent spread 100%, although they were pretty marvelous until you know Delta came along. These vaccines are working as expected there, bolstering memory B cells, protective D cells and antibodies to protect us from severe disease. They're doing that.

The the proposal from Fauci that we have to have a passport toe work to travel to go to school. If you don't take the vaccine, you won't be able to do any of that. Is that a line? You're willing to say yarmulke? I'm okay with that. How about managed capitalism? Stakeholder capitalism? Where the social contract has changed. The state tells you what you can and must do in business. How about green carbon taxes and new departments? That will need you to answer two things about your business? Because your business impacts the environment, like all businesses do So we just need to make sure that you're paying your fair share if you're not yet at your line, If you don't know what that line is I guarantee you, you will pass all of them. Maybe you won't say what your line is because you're afraid of what it might make you or force you to do or not do Gosh, I don't know if I want us to come out about the passport. I want my kids.
