California Isn't Quite as Bad as Brandon Thought
"Have to set the record straight because I know a lot of people that listen to me live in California. You know, I, my only exposure to California has been Los Angeles, downtown Los Angeles, and the dirty, ugly places of LA. And I had a little bit exposure to San Francisco, homeless people everywhere, trash everywhere, and so I tell you, I had a negative perception of California. Some of the Fresno area where my wife grew up at, that area is pretty nice. The Hanford, the area is pretty nice. But I had a disdain for California. I hate going to California. I don't like driving on the roads in California. The fact that it's leftists in the taxes are out of control. I just had a true despise for California and I'm willing to admit that to you guys today. Then I went to an amazing church over the weekend. I don't know if I call it preach or spoke. I did three sermons. One on Saturday night, early morning service in the second service in the morning on Sunday. Out there in what I would consider to be, where were we at Orange County? Huntington Beach, Orange County, what's the other place that I was at? Newport Beach. I have to say, after driving in that area, I literally want to move to California now. I have never seen an area so beautiful and clean and neat. My whole perception of California was that it was dirty bombs everywhere and they just taken over every place and so much traffic everywhere. Then I went out there and I said, my God, I see why people live here

"About anyone's ticket by the way, college income break people out. That's another big one. The gummies, the hair gummies, the biotechnology. It's overstimulating. So I do just reminded me people coming all the time and I go, did you start taking care of vitamins? Hair gummies, yes, get off of them. There's too much is too stimulating. So you reminded me of something. But also for hair, there's certain things where you'll just start say you forgot, you stop taking a certain vitamin, and you go. My hair feels dinner. My nails are more brittle. And then you start taking your feel better, that's kind of like light therapy or light therapies using moods. I mean, the red light's good, so don't stop doing them just because they're really, really good for you. I've started using I've got this two, which is like, you know, medical grade leds, and I started using it like if I pull my back, I'll just sit. I'll just sit on it because I don't know how much of it is my own mental health. I believe it works. I'm believing in it. And you could end with ice. So because it has a little heat changes it bad. And with ice is this like a bonus. Like hot cold therapy, you always want to end with cold. So you could do red light, take a cold shower. So relaxing, just kidding. It sounds lovely right now. But it is really good for you. But no, for pain, lights are pretty amazing. So let's talk a little bit about the facial lounge because you're based in, you said Newport Beach. And you've got a ton of influencers. I know come to you and who swear that you've changed your skin, but your products are really all, you're really all about going to more of a natural skin care. Correct? Yes. And that came yeah. I'd say clean because natural, you got to realize I've been doing this 25 years. Yeah. So natural, the first 15 was frowned upon people. I want to set that works. Well, natural school works. If you're going to eat blueberries, it's still going to be good for you. It's not like taking a pill. So I tell people I would rather you have the food, the whole. So skin care is like that. It has so much nutrition. So I'd say facials are like a workout, skin care is like the nutrition. We can go in and do a lot of things, but it's your home care that makes all the world a difference. So our skin care is super clean, but it works. So we have anti aging products. "So you hear them see them. You're experiencing opening the door. Now, I know this sounds science fiction because guess what it was in his science fiction, but this is the direction that technology is going. It's scary in some ways. Put all these thoughts together, right? So let's say that I'm a buyer and I just want maybe I want to look for a second or third home. I want to have some peace. I gotta have a good Internet connection. My kid is homeschooled, right? I could see something like really cooling, say Lake como, which I normally wouldn't have bought. In Italy. Right? But because I have Starlink because I have my virtual education tools, I can live literally anywhere on the planet. And I can go tour that using my virtual technology and have a pretty good feel of whether I want that house or not. And this is a blind pitch, but it's still valid to integrate this at this point. If you're an EXP agent, and EXP is licensed in an L 19 different countries, Italy being one of them, and you're sitting in Columbus Ohio or Julian are from, and you have a friend that's in Newport Beach and they are talking about weighing to buy a place and Lake como to use Julia's example. You know, you have essentially if you're an EXP agent, you have already as a brokerage there that you can be doing business with. You don't have a license there, but you can figure out at least how to choose an agent that you're going to be able to do business with. And then your friend in Newport and you and this agent in Italy are going to be able to walk through that house together and you're going to have these experiences that are going to take everything to the next level. Look, we're speculating as much as everybody else says. But here's the difference. This is not just science fiction anymore, it's science fact. The computing power and really the desire to accomplish this is like nothing in technology, maybe aside from when we went to the moon in the 60s. Sure, and we already have what probably in the future will be called beta test of all of this very advanced up and coming technology. You've got the Oculus, which is getting upgraded. It's not that oh my gosh, you can do this. Here's the first version of it..

Bruce the great great grandson of willa and charles bruce the plaque was the closest his grandfather bernard bruce could get in his quest for justice. He was very much invested in trying to get the land back for us In two thousand seven he and mitch ward were able to get the bruce's beach rename to bruce's beach and he was there at that ceremony. Mitch ward no relation to kvant ward was the first african american elected to the manhattan beach city council and two thousand six. He became the city's first. Black mayor bernard bruce was with mitch at that ceremony. Bernard died of kevin nineteen this year. He was eighty six. Anthony says that bernard's mission in life was to get the land back renaming. The park was a big first step in making sure. This history wasn't forgotten. And it wasn't. Easy bernard bruce had through that he was a descendant of charles while bruce and then he had to go through all the genealogy and dna and just keeping some of the records and stuff like that we still need to get a lot of those records in order to. You know prove what happened. During that time period most of it was like research. And just accumulating ammunition that anthony says that focus put a strain between bernard and other members of his family. Who wanted to move on to actually knew charles willow. He was very consumed with trying to get the land back in this kind of put a fracture between him in the relationship of those people around him. You know because when you're fighting back sinus eight that kind of bigotry. It's hard not to see it in other people and if they don't show the same kind of rossi that you have for that than it does start to make you think that they are not as optimistic or appreciative of your efforts and so you become kind of like a loan loss. You're fighting this battle alone. And that's what bernard did that. Outside of bernard's family there are others documenting and keeping the history bruce's beach alive. Dr alison rose jefferson. A historian and author of living the california dream african-american leisure sites during the jim crow era remembers meeting bernard bruce the california african american museum had gotten a couple of his photographs that he had loan them and i was working on an exhibit at that time and so then i tracked him down and it turned out that he didn't live too far from me in los angeles. "This is a case where Newport Beach has to pay $360,000 Newport Beach in Southern California here, and it's all over a $16 cab ride in which a credit card was declined. Ashley Watch. This is back in. 2016 took a taxi back to her apartment after drinking at a hotel. So her credit card is declined, and the taxi driver calls the police. To help him collect his fair. Well, uh, not long after that The police show up a little bit later on. And they go to her apartment. Uh, and say what about the fair? We want to come in? And she says no. Uh, not at all. So what do you say? What do they do? They arrest her. Well, they throw her on the ground and handcuffed her. And I don't think they should go to jail. I think they just did, you know, just this weird wild thing. And so, uh, she she gets convicted, and, uh yeah, they did arrest her, and she was convicted and, uh, she went to the ninth U. S Court of Appeals, where, the judge said Who in the world arrests an individual for failing to pay a cab fare. How did this happen? Uh and, uh, You can decline credit card for $16.75 result in a federal civil rights action. Here we are. Well, uh, she ended up. Uh, obviously suing for civil rights violation. Uh, the Settlement was $360,000. Now let me point something out. Uh, the cops could easily shown up. And said to the cab driver, This is a civil issue. You know, Silver That's what this is about. You know she didn't. It's like really intend to steal. She was a decline Credit card, so you know, take her to court or suck it up. Nope. They decided to get involved. And it only cost $360,000. And I wonder what Newport Beach is doing to those police officers, Uh, can him for that one. All right, let's take some phone calls. Hey, Raymond, Welcome to handle on the law. Be another question. I had an old truck, which it was a house drug was part found on my house and their registration was expired the sheriff's department They came and told the truck Because I do understand that I released the truck. They hunted up to feel repeating sheriff and pay $400 to the impound to release it because I didn't drink, etcetera, But he didn't pass this small because in some work So I've fixed the drug. Everything was ready to go for the smog, and they came to pull the truck again. And they said, because the registration is not complete. You have any case or no, you don't. Because here's here's the problem. And that is you didn't have registration. They're not going to register the vehicle without a smog. So you had an unregistered vehicle on the street. And they can tow that every day if it's on a public street. So what you do is you get the smog. You register it. And once you have the registration, So you said you re registered it. No, you didn't. Because you can't do that without the smog check. I just did that I have a car on my wife drives it and I said in the money to the DMV, and I was due for my smog check and they would not give me the registration. They issued a statement that we have your money, but you have to supply the smog. Smog check. So, uh, I don't have a registered vehicle. Now. The good news is the registration doesn't run out. Uh, for a while, So the car is technically still registered, but they gave me a date. So you better have it by X date because that's when your registration expires. So you are out of luck. Get the smog and it won't be towed. Get that registration. Get that sticker onto your license plate, okay? Hello, Wizard. Okay? Yeah, That's another way of saying you're completely screwed. Uh, matter of fact, you can go to a dictionary. A matter of fact, go to the dictionary on your smartphone and just put in s O. L. And see what happens. All right. Jesus. Hello, Jesus. You're up Welcome. Statue of limitations on a tortious civil action claim for intentional It's affairs on the perspective, economical advantage. Okay, interferes with contract. Okay, I got that or perspective Contract. All right. Fair enough. The statute. Uh, I I don't know. Three years, four years. You know, that's a real hard one to figure out. You know what you do. Uh, you go to the you go to your computer and you go on your browser. And then on the search words you put torture centre. Actually, you put interference with prospective contractual relations. Where the hell you want to call it? I mean, it all goes to the same thing and put statute of limitations. And you know what you're gonna get. You're going to get exactly the statute of limitations, Which is what I would do to answer your question. I would go on the computer. I would throw in those words, but I have no intention of doing that for you. So you get to do them. Go ahead. I've already done that, and well, my question is the statute education begins to run on the date. I had knowledge of the data have the basis to move forward with the causes of action. I think it's uh, I think it's two different issues. Uh, probably that day that it happened because of the day you have knowledge. What if that's five years later? Eight years later, So usually for example, and I don't have that in my head right now. But it's a case of, for example, in malpractices from the day the malpractice occurred, and that becomes two years or three years from the time or the other way around three years or two years from when you discovered it. So, um, that will give you the information. I mean, it should. The statutes should describe the date the two different statute periods upon discovery or upon when it actually happened. Most of my startups are give you sort of rough i elevated you. What a startup Dr looks like they're usually two years out of school. Sometimes you can do a one year at school if you're showing some really high production that's why i always ask about their production with words so if you're pedia and you're kicking bod and you know you're you're doing over a million dollars isn't associate just by yourself. You're going to sell differently. So if i asked if i ask Who's on if i ask bill in newport beach bail us as bill real estate seven years okay. Perfect what's going on relationship to what you're doing in real estate this your pet the last year. Well i got more business than i have less last year. He didn't say it's totally different. I'm doing so much more business. You just got more business and last year so he would be in the middle. So i'm going to sell him based upon sameness and difference so if i'm signing damn is what we all make decision if away. I want to make sure that you see how were the same as other people as the certain things are all real estate agents are gonna do the same. But where excel is what i do differently. Does that make sense of argument yet. I see people shaking. Their gas is yeah. Glory got About the different agents are being the same as them but also excelling is that only if they bring up. So it's not. I'm gonna do that based upon asking that question so if someone if someone if i know someone's primary stainless where they go what's going on relationships your job which you're doing this year compared to what you're doing last year and the seem still same jobs. Same everything. I'm still selling real estate. I'm still sandwiches perfect. Well that's great. Let me as we go through the process. You're going to see that. Not only do i do the same thing as all the other real estate agents. I actually do better and this is how i do it better. 'cause they focus on saying that so they want to see that i'm the same as everybody else. How they're gonna make decision is how i'm better now. If the person is primary same as police say well saying jobs same department. I just have different clients. It's same with exception meeting..

"Guys that's Martin from shape. We're here right now in San Francisco Studio and unconnected to aid today on with the founder of fights cab Saha. Could you why don't you deduce yourself? It'll. Yeah. Awesome. First of all, thanks a lot for receiving me on the PODCAST. Martin. So my name is Lil- I'm the CO founder, CEO Camp and weekly started Fi Kim about a year and a half ago. So. If I is an interactive corn boxing gym, it comes with everything you need to start boxing and actually follow videos that are built by the best trainers of all the west coast they all fighters they all have obviously a tremendous fight expands but they're also great fitness instructor general for the listener on on our show that has never seen. It's what should be should be mentioned punching back and a pair of gloves. So what be? Yes. So it comes with a free standing bag. The best standing back on the market with a pair of didn't win leather gloves made an approved by fighters with a workout Matt, a pair of with be called quick grabs and the special sauce is who? Motion trackers that you put into quick wraps Ma and detract your hands a thousand times per second trek speed and my my punches. How many punches I'm doing per minute of what should I expect? Yes they tracked the type of country throw the measured the speed of the bunches basically build your output profile from one round to the other. What about impact? Not The impact is really the velocity. Okay. The of your hand and which actually throwing and how does like the coaching look like you were mentioning that you have coaches of all over the place and should I imagine like watching them like on my TV or iphone ourselves for me? Yes. So it comes with an APP you can the. Myriad on a large screen TV or you can watch the workouts on an IPAD whatever you prefer, and then from there, it's Kinda like all you can eat buffet. Really. So if you're advanced, you can jump straight into the advanced workouts right away we go and deep into the complex combinations. We'd practice footwork and the workouts very intense. Otherwise, it can literally start at the very first time. You've you're you're throwing your first punch. So we have what we call the prospect where it takes you from zero boxing experience teaches you to six inches and then at the end of the prospect path which. is about a four weeks program you actually know how to six months probably you know how to stand you know the basics Balkan it's mostly regular boxing the offer classes for a time boxing mma Nelson actually were focusing on boxing at the moment but we're having a lot of internal conversations around providing kickboxing as well as a kickboxing in multi, really as a as a an expansion and so so who's like you you're right now is it really like what you just mentioned on the beginners or is it like somebody that's been into boxing all their life or hundred, seventy, four for you Guys. Yeah, it's really seventy five percent beginners, but it's actually very interesting to see like a lot of them are now not beginners anymore So you know we kind of took a bunch of them. You know through the program you get to see videos online and on the social media and they're getting very proper form on have the basics of boxing. Of course, they don't have the in ring experience right visit steely it's a home virtual experience. Yeah. You can't really compete against somebody else right right. So Yeah, you actually can compete but on up put and precision you can't compete on. Actual defense offense. Of course, you're not going to get him. You know and does like a class look like, is it one on one coaching tailored to me or is it like a big class like pedal tone style or yet is really a group class? So it's you'll have usually the video stream will be divided into not that it's divided on the screen per se but vary between having the camera centered on the coach, and then you're getting bureau that is very dynamic. The camera moves around in the class and focuses on the participants taking the class live at our studio in Newport beach. For for me, you know like me having like an iphone like my supposed to put up my iphone like somewhere like on a on a counter, and then look at it while I'm like punching out on my back or how should I mention it? Yeah. That's a very good question like there's not a lot of people use it only with the with the iphone unless they're traveling aren't as they're actually using it in a gym gym or their apartment Jim the vending most people digging each day my cable upload, the Stream directly on on a big screen. TV. Your accent. Yeah. Oh we have a portion of our users. We actually are doing it on the night pat about Apple TV, that works as well Yeah. You can mirror exactly. You can use apple TV to mirror the the stream directly on a big screen TV as well. That's definitely the best experience you're getting very loud sounds and music. You hear the voice really really properly, the nose of the bag doesn't supplant the voice of the trainer lifts. Your stats are displayed very big for you. So like you're really into it, you feel like you're you're being tracked in. Really part of a group experience and it's both IOS and android os mostly s right now. Saying. It's only on ISLA, its and so why are people doing it Do they just WanNa, get a workout and they are not happy with you know like an experience like Peleton or maybe the half a pedal tone and want to supplement it with something else or do they actually want to get into boxing learn those skills forward let's say self defense. Yeah it's interesting. So. Like calm, we have two types of customers. The first type of customers really just will always intrigued boxing They want to do it because it's a work of that Jesse get something out of it even though you would stop working out after a year like you would still acquire the skills and those are self defense skills. You know a lot of people are mystified by you know. How to actually throw a punch and Hudson do properly. So that was one of our customers the other portion of because there is actually coming from the idea that boxing is the best workout to get in shape and the discovered the fundamentals and techniques through fight Cam. So the first reason they joined is for fitness purposes really assuming that boxing is the best workout out there the. Other portion come straight because they want boxing, but they can't attend to have a busy lifestyle. Their young parents hitting the gym is increasingly harder would a busy schedule? so that's the other proposition that they really resonate with and

And then the next week, one of my highest grew friends passed away during the week after that, my sister passed away. So I've been dealing with a lot of that even before the covert thing hit. But what are the things did I noticed in very? Hesitant to share with people was that even though those things happen, there was A. I was experiencing piece really didn't get touched by those things. And I and you know and I had done I mean just a little self disclosure. I knew my mother passed away. It would be very challenging because of when I was living at Cambridge insight meditation center. In eighty nine, different six years it was November, twenty, second nineteen, eighty, nine, I started dealing with the what they call a deaf awareness meditation practice. What you start the reflect darn. If I did that we're all going to die We don't give beyond death in that sort of thing because I knew when my mother passed, it was going to be really challenging. and. She didn't pass into two thousand and one. So I had a little time. To work on like twelve years. And I think that I continue to work on that and I think it.
