Bruce getting an early start in centerville tonight, westbound 66 between route 29 and the rest area, right lane is blocked for the word zone that's currently being set up otherwise we're in good shape on the beltway, especially on the inner loop coming down from Tyson's in a Montgomery county, things have improved vastly on the capitol building, no problems in Montgomery county or prince George's county, still a bit slow northbound on I two 70. Crash activity near the monocacy is cleared to the right shoulder, still finding delays almost back to one O 9 and high its town, southbound pretty quiet coming down from the I 70 interchange, all clearer through Germantown all the way down to the lane divide. 95 and the BW Parkway traveling in San Francisco were good to go on the freeway no issues to report on D.C. two 95 or I two 95. On the beltway in Maryland, the outer loop delay is from old Georgetown road and off the southbound two 70 spur. This takes you all the way across the American legion bridge toward Georgetown pike with the work in the left lane that delay we had on the inner loop and it passed through one in college park is starting to ease so whatever was there. Should have cleared. Now if you're in the district on southbound D.C. two 95 delays from burrows toward benning, there is a report of a work crew and bound east street expressway near 23rd street the work was in the right lane and eastbound Massachusetts avenue near waterside drive a single lane was getting you by that work crew. If you're in Virginia, the route 7 at 66 there were several broken down vehicles in each direction, just keep an eye out for any redirection there. Now in two 95, listener checked in the northbound delay two 95 off of the 11th street bridge, and as you work toward bending road before you get to bedding, that is where there is a medical emergency you're going to want to stay to the left to get by. "Today. I'm going to do something a little different for this installment of your next dive normally tried to take you to a dive destination where we talk about the trip from a number of different perspectives. The travel the lodging the dive operator. Oh yeah the diving. Now we've been around the world. But today i'm going to focus on one particular dive that is almost in our backyard. It is one of the most iconic dives here in new england and that is the wreck of the chester. Polling off gloucester mass. The chester polling was a coastal tanker. That sank in a brutal storm on january tenth. Nineteen seventy seven. The tanker had just left everett massachusetts and was bound for newington new hampshire. That information is pretty consistent in the research but there is other conflicting information about where she had been. And what cargo she delivered for example some documentation said she had previously delivered kerosene to new jersey while others indicated that the heating oil was delivered to everett mass. I would suspect that delivery to everett mass to be more likely always interesting when you Doing research to get this type of inconsistency now the chester polling was bill in nineteen thirty four at mariners harbor new york by united dry docks incorporated it was originally in the plattsburgh sacconi somewhere along the line at also known as the mobile albany before getting renamed as the chester polling at the time of its sinking it was owned by the motor vessel polling brothers and that was number one inc. I wasn't able to find who was actually named after but obviously some member of the family. So that's a little bit of history about the ship now on january tenth. Burge's tried to get more stability by adding more ballast but at ten thirty a m a thirty foot waves smashed into the tanker and broke it in half the captain called for abandoning the ship. The stern section of the chester polling came to rest off easter point gloucester originally in about seventy five feet of water with the bow section sinking about four miles off of eastern point in about one hundred ninety feet of water subsequent winter. However the stern section of the chester polling is what some folks call hollywood wreck sitting upright and is probably the most popular wreck dive off. Cape ann as that areas known. Now i- i dove the chester polling way back in july two thousand and five. It was my fortieth dive and a double dip on. The polling was part of my advanced open water class. These dyes would constitute my deep and wreck advanced. Open water dives. At that time. I was still diving in a seven. Millimeter wetsuit with the appropriate gloves and hood. I use the standard aluminum. Eighty tank with nighthawks. Thirty two. I can still remember the anxiety that had doing. The first real wreck dive in the northeast but once in the water what an amazing dive the visibility that day was thirty feet and my max step was at eighty five. Even though it was july the water temperature on iraq was fifty degrees. It was incredible to move along the deck and reach the mid mid ship section where. The tanker broken half absolutely mesmerizing but with an aluminum. Eighty you don't get much bottom time and after about fifteen minutes we headed back to the up line and after are appropriate safety. Stop we climb back aboard the boat and got ready to do it again. Total dive time was twenty six minutes the second dive that day was just as spectacular and pretty much the same profile. Let me just say in a wetsuit. It can get pretty chilly. I didn't go back to the chester polling until august. Two thousand nine and that was my last trip there. It was my two hundred and forty ninth dive but this time i did it in a dry suit and hope to get some good video of iraq. I still dove aluminum. Eighty the dive was just as i remembered and just as exciting visibility again was thirty feet. And my max. Depth was eighty two with and the bottom temperature. That day was forty eight degrees still very cold but so much better in a dry suit again however with an aluminum eighty. You just. Don't get much bottom time especially if your task loading like shooting video so my recommendation is that if you are planning to die the polling you might want to consider a little bit bigger tank something like a steal one hundred or going to doubles. I know that i wouldn't consider going back with anything less than a steel one hundred tank. How do you get to the chester polling back. Then we use cape and divers but they closed up several years ago and recently the dive boat cape and diver to was purchased by several guys from boston. An air now operating regularly chart regular charters again became an diverse to is a forty five foot. us coastguard registered dive vessel. It is spacious and right now with limited divers on board you get plenty of room to get ready and dive but you don't get a lot of but you don't get a lot of time because you don't have a lot of time to get ready because the is only a few minutes from the dock so be prepared one thing. Different about northeast wreck diving. Is that as a diver. You need to bring all your gear that includes tanks weights everything. It's not like diving at a resort. Don't get caught short by not being prepared with all your own stuff now. Here's an interesting element. That i discovered during my research. It appears that in nineteen sixties. The chester polling was length lengthened. By maybe twenty six or so feet. That doesn't sound like much. But at the time of her sinking her length with two hundred and eighty two feet so that lengthening was about ten percent of the original ship's length could this have been a contributing factor for the ship splitting in half. I make sure that my skills remain relevant or that. They feel that they're transferable right so talk us through exactly. That's one of the major challenges that i've found is one. It takes a lot more time than i thought it was gonna take and it's hard at some points not to get discouraged and there are a lot of online programs and resources like the mom project is a great one where they list job opportunities and try to match moms and companies. But you'll find. Is that with all the artificial intelligence going. Through the resumes and applications. The gap becomes an issue. It really does so for me. I think building strong resume. that's creative. That includes him skills that you may have learned at home a really fine tuned at home including those as well as any volunteer projects but really building the networking list. I mean creating a west figuring out who you know who knows who i think. Networking is really the key just announced. Recently i know lincoln specifically back in maybe april just a couple of months ago started adding you know. Stay at home. Moms stay at home dad. The soft skills you find in that sort of role to their website. So that when you're putting your previous jobs and roles on newington profile you can add those to kind of shore up the gap. I didn't want to listen to this kind of talk life was what it was I figured. I hadn't been mourn lucky, and I wouldn't be able to change a thing about it just by thinking differently. But my subconscious disagreed it insisted that my subconscious mind was more powerful than I thought it decided to show me a physical example of what he was talking about and I was pleased to see it chose to do. So while I was playing cards on my subconscious was part of the game. It remembered every play I started to win some pretty good money based on what he was telling me. But after few weeks is stopped helping me my demanded to know why. Because when he had cards making money like this is not the way to happiness. I don't know about that. I said fuming feeling. The image of my life as neglected garden was so clear my mind, I couldn't help but identify with it. I. Suddenly wanted all to change I, wanted my girl rich with green. What. Am I supposed to do? Surrender, to my advice, follow what I have to teach you. and. What is that? I have unlimited potential, it said to me patiently, I can help you gain more power than you could ever imagine a knows difficult to believe something like that since I'm invisible. But think about this. When you look at successful people, then compare them to those who haven't success. You can't see physical difference other than the material goods which might surround them. The difference is invisible. Just like I am invisible seem strange right now, but will all make sense if you allow yourself to accept it if direct your subconscious in the right direction, you can accomplish results. "So president trump is calling for Republicans and Democrats to get strong background checks not offering a whole lot of detail on this but Americans are angry summer fearful after to back to back mash using that rocked the country this past weekend and in response to their calls for political action president Donald Trump he told the country that he wants red flag laws to prevent more tragedy now here in Texas the been a lot of critics of these ideas see here's a quote we must make sure that those are judged to pose a grave risk to the public safety do not have access to firearms and if they do those farms can be taken to rapid due process that's what the president said that is why I have called for red flag laws also know as extreme risk protection orders shortly after the president's address senator Lindsey Graham the Republican from South Carolina the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee said he will proposed bipartisan legislation encouraging states to enact red flag laws on their own well what's that going to be that's that's the question what what is the red flag while red flag laws allow law enforcement family members and other concerned parties to petition the judge to confiscate guns from individuals who may cause harm to themselves or others I think generally across the board we can all agree that if somebody's gonna hurt themselves or others we want the guns to be taken away right no doubt about it was the last time you they should have as well as any other kind of way seats away for you know a way of acting upon warning signs red flags in order to prevent potential gun violence now the laws they do very in different states in fact in the Indiana only the law enforcement can request in order to remove weapons but in Oregon any person living with that person they consider to be you know a dangerous camper to in the state and according to the trace lawmakers on both sides of this debate have been braced red flag policies red flag laws have been enacted in seventeen states twelve which acted after the parkland high school shooting in February of twenty eighteen seventeen killed in that one the laws have been proposed in four other states and as with twelve states enacting these laws after parkland red flag laws tend to a you know appearance states after a deadly shooting shocks the community in Connecticut they pass their first red flag laws in nineteen ninety nine after a shooting at the Connecticut lottery headquarters in Newington California passed their own not too long ago as well I guess one of the key components in this as far as it being a success would be you got to have somebody around these potentially dangerous people the care that care enough to get the ball rolling on this kind of thing people that are paying attention so even though the red flag law might work for some and it sure is gonna make a lot of people may be feel better yeah you still have to have a lot of other things are gonna have to fall in place before this can that process can start you got to have somebody who cares enough to do it and who's even paying attention you know the the in these two situations it doesn't sound like the family unit was all that strong and that's very typical maybe a lot of people around them this Joe give a rip yeah I know that's not true other crazy anyway and do my thing over here I think a lot of parents listening would love to have this idea yeah I know this well me ask you this what if your neighbor has a child that show little one hand Justin has mental health issues and from time to time gets violent that kid may not personally own a gun but mom and dad do should they be red flag laws that a neighbor can point out a neighbor Hey my neighbors got guns I don't know if they're securely you know locking those guns up every day right should that be a red flag law in a in a I mean you could really really rock of families world by making some false allegations in fact that's what a lot of critics here in Texas have been saying when these ideas are proposed in the last legislative session after the shooting at Santa Fe high school in may twenty eighteen governor Abbott suggested state lawmakers consider a red flag law would allow family members law enforcement or other third parties to ask the court to temporarily remove a person's guns if they're concerned about the individual he was met with sharp opposition from gun rights advocates then and now Snyder law doesn't like you take your Cannondale allegations or there's no due process it's terrible strip of the Texas rifle association says the state already has laws that deal with this could be mentally ill indicated now you cannot you cannot Firelands the capital Chris fox news radio K.
