Coronavirus: Cuomo says New York 'flattening the curve'

"New York governor Andrew Cuomo had mixed emotions as he delivered today's update on the coronavirus crisis in his state on the one hand to date more than twice as many people have died from covert nineteen in New York than died in the terrorist attacks on nine eleven it is a sobering fact and flags are to be flown at half staff across New York in remembrance on the other hand there is also this New York Cuomo says is flattening the curve the number of patients hospitalized is down anecdotally the Ripper individual hospitals the larger systems are reporting that some of them are actually releasing more people that are coming in new York's news is a heartening sign for anxious Americans working hard to adjust to life during the pandemic and wondering when or if things will ever get back to normal for more on what's happening in New York and what else for learning about the virus we're joined by NPR science correspondent Richard Harris national correspondent Hans along and White House correspondent Tamera Keith could have all three of you here good to be with you I am very sorry Hans you want to share with you because you're in New York City the national epicenter of this crisis does it feel like New York may be turning a corner well New York governor Andrew Cuomo says you know based on the latest numbers of hospitalizations it looks like social distancing staying at home those orders appear to be working but we need to keep at it the governor says that this does not mean it's safe to go outside if you don't have to go outside because you have to keep in mind the number of people who are dying every day from cove in nineteen that number continues to climb and it's still hard to say what New York City will look like you know two months from

I don't see a problem. Okay. Great ties vaguely it into the news, which is this. The museum of the dog is set to debut in New York City on February eight big news. I haven't heard about this very exciting. I came across this. But it was on the USA today. So thanks you today. John. Okay. So it's going to be in midtown Manhattan going to open on February eighth. Just a few days before the start of the Westminster kennel club dog show. Okay. And this is so this is the American kennel club AKC museum of the dog. Look at that. And it's a fell blown stays there museum. It's not a pop-up. It's no xactly. That's a great question in this day and age into many pop ups here also to pop ups starting to pop up, and they stay, and I got this supposed to pop and that was planned so and for this. Right. I know me. Yeah. Thinking about his and then they want to see forever when I was living in New York. They had a pop tarts pop up. Okay. That's the only get pop tarts out of a vending machine going within a day. No just stunt terrible. Yeah. I know. Sorry. Believe me. I am upset. But this is this is the only replacement guy we'll replacement okay now, here's the really crazy thing. Tell me if he goes news this marks the museums returned to New York after a thirty two year absence. So it was there before I had never heard of this pretty much before our time they had moved to west St Louis county, Missouri during that time. So for some reason this museum exist in New York, moved to Missouri. Right. But now they're back baby. You're right. It has anything to do with a musical cats being so popular. No one's going to dog. It's a good may have that once I put in my head that it was a pop up. I was just like it's gonna have lick experience. There's going to be a full hydrant Instagram option students. I mean, people will Instagram, but it's not like the ice cream museum or one of those like, quote, unquote, are it's not even the history of dogs. I'm sure there's some I'm sure there's some like in it. But it's mostly fine art about dogs, which is you. You're not there. But also want to go, I will tell you. It's in the calico building. That's right. Maybe one Park Avenue Shishir. Okay. Describing it as one of one of the world's largest collections of canine find, that's amazing avenues, little fancier. Because if we do it right there on Broadway, your heart attack square. That's a tough place to have finer. May I suggest a game? Yes. For this. Let's hear yes. Yeah. Okay.
