"Though I was sport changing for 20 years We did have over 200 major league high. It's when we did You know some compensation plans with SIM players. I did it. I did a, uh Contract just like this one for Brett Shaver. Hagen also With the match it it just wasn't the same size. So when you decide to do this, what's in your head? Is it mostly that this team will be willing to give up a larger total sum? If we spread it out? Is it the protection of the athlete and their ability to be paid out in the course of their lifetime? Instead of the, you know, getting it all once? What's really the motivation for you? The motivation for me is, you know, being a former minor league player playing, you know a lot of players that played with A lot of players that I'd seen come out of the game. They come out of the king within five years or so after five or six years, they don't have much to show for it. Uh, you know, unlike the salary that you see today, they weren't quite that big in those days. And then leaving it in the hands of of People to invest for them. You know, the New York Mets were guaranteed a specific grade of interest. And all we did was take some of the money and put it away. Took it out of the bank today and put it into the bank tomorrow. How did shout? Yeah. It's paining. Cos Sarah, Spain, We're talking Tio, former agent for Bobby Bania, Dennis Gilbert. Dennis. I'm curious what Bobby said when you suggested this to him because, of course, especially in a later age. You think to yourself. This is a great deal. But maybe when you're younger in the middle of your career, you want all that money right away to, you know, buy a big house and a car and everything else. What did Bobby think about it? In a part of the plan. Wass is what What do you need to And bodies are very conservative person. And took the money that he needed to live on. And maybe I didn't even know we thought we could put away in different things. He had you knowing, but a nice house at a nice wife style had a lot of extra money that he invested with Ah, with an investment advisor. And still have money left over money that that's were able to do for now work well with team because they ended up making They have money left over so they could sign free agents. And you know what helped him win games. Get help them win games. And, you know David Wright comes out of this, and that's something that they can point to. Ah, player of great success there, But when you look at it on paper, it's still $5.9 million. That turns into far more than that, And so it's always going to sort of be something. People point to the Mets and make fun of how did you turn 5.9 million into 29.8 million? But you say in this Boston Herald story or you're you've said it in the past. If not for everything going upside down. Ah, with you know the investments they actually would have come out on the right side. It would have been good for both. If not for The way the investment half of it on there and was was the reason being, you know, the reason being is that they were getting huge returns from made off. And it's made off. I wasn't putting the money into a pond to school, then the arbitrage, both sides would have made a lot of money. Yeah, It's unfortunate for the Mets that they don't get Teo. Everybody sort of knows that side of the story. But the big The big news of the big headline is always happy. Bobby Bania Day the Mets are still paying him. He's making more than their best players today, and certainly a lot more than most of the guys in the 60 game season. Dennis Gilbert with us here on Spain and company on ESPN Radio, the former agent for Bobby Bania, did you have other clients that turned this kind of deal down because I know you said. Saberhagen. And then there was another deal actually with Bobby Bania that was split between the Orioles and the Mets for 500 K a year that he's still getting paid on. Did you approach other clients with this and they were not interested? No, we had some clients did similar deals. We did. We had quietly approached to do this in their contracts. Uh, that didn't want to do it. A lot of players wanted to get the money up front. No, we're not fine way. We weren't financial manager. You know, I wasn't a financial manager, our insurance guy who also own a sports coat sports contracts. So I wasn't investing any players money. And I felt that having a New York Mitch You know, uh, guaranteed 8% was a lot better than taking a chance in the stock market or in any other type of investment. Well, certainly not an investment with made off, that's for sure. Well, it goes down as one of the great deals in history and has brought up year after year. Now you're working with the White Sox or an insurance agent for Ah, Hollywood folks and for bait and baseball folks, But I believe that this will be the thing that will always be most remembered about about your tenure with with baseball clients, Dennis Thanks for coming on to talk to me about it. Well, it's a pleasure to meet you. And thank you Next time. I've got my contract up with ESPN. I'm going to give you a call. OK, see if we can figure out something just like that. Sure, all right. I'm holding you to it. Dennis Gilbert, former agent now with the White Sox as a special assistant here on Spain and company, it's a crazy story, and and honestly, you hear it every year, and you try to figure out the numbers behind it. And even when you read Exactly how it went down, and you understand what the goal was for the Mets with the deal that went awry with the maid off stuff. It's still pretty remarkable to turn 5.9 million into 29.8 million, and you know specifically when we hear all the stories about players losing out on money And and not being able to make it last. Bobby Bania is set and again. My contract is up in October with ESPN. I am calling Dennis and we're going to figure something out. I mean, it times, the newest analyst NFL Live is going to join us next on Spain and company. Baseball is finally back. But for how long? And with Emily's end in question,.

Every July 1 Until 2035, Bobby Bonilla Gets A $1.19 Million Check From The New York Mets: Here’s Why

"Today is Bobbi. Baena Day when I say Bobby Baena Day he is on July first. It's time now for fans met fans everywhere. I do wish each other a happy. Bobby Baena Day why why? Why not? On Wednesday today fifty seven year old Bobby Baena will collect a check for one point one, nine, three, one, million, one, hundred, and ninety, three, thousand, two, hundred and forty eight dollars, and twenty cents from the New York mets every July first from two thousand. Thousand Eleven all the way to twenty thirty five, because baseball salary structure Bobby. Bonilla's annual payday is often more than some game current stars are given in one year. Why does he get that kind of money in his contract? Well, so what happened was the NEOM last play for the mets. In nineteen, ninety nine, he played with the majors cardinals. The last time we played in the majors was two thousand one, but he was paid or will be paid all. All the way till twenty thirty five. Here's what happened. Bobby again has a second deferral of contract payment with the mets and Orioles. Pay Him five hundred thousand a year for twenty five years while Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah so what he did was he signed a contract in two thousand. The mets agreed to buy out the remaining five point nine million of bananas contract, however, instead of paying Baena five point nine million at the time, the mets agreed on an annual. Annual payment of nearly one point two million for twenty five years starting on July first two thousand eleven, this included negotiated eight percent interest rate for inflation at the time ready for this. At the time, the mets owner was invested in the Bernie made off account that promised to double digits return the name Thom familiar for you and the mets were poised to make a significant profit, if the made off account delivered, and as we know, it did not this arrangement. Has Left with Bobby Baena making one point two million dollars every July first for the until twenty thirty five, so he he's got another fifteen years. He'll be seventy two seventy two. How much how are you? He will be seventy. Was Age where's age? Where's age? He'll be seventy two and still making one point two MIL now if you play cards, right? A lot of people say well live million dollars. Yeah, but he hasn't played baseball for a while now, and he's still getting one point two million, and so everyone says. That's the first contract of its kind and a lot of people have followed in suit. There's a Max Zhanjiang you're. Some guy the nationals he'll be paid. Away to twenty twenty-eight and many. Ramirez also with the Red Sox will collect all the way till twenty twenty

"So my father sat on the trade for Tom Seaver for 24 hours on the say so of his 15 year old son. And what really young thing that really, that's what started the whole process. That's what got the ownership. Eso annoyed that they told my father that he had to trade Tom Seaver and, yeah, he sat on it for 24 hours. Andi came on. Told me they turned down the deal. I don't know what I'm going to D'oh. Aah! And you know, I just sat around and watch the Met game that night. I'm sure and didn't discuss Tom Seaver. I don't think it was pitching that night on sure enough housing called the next day and said, Yeah, if you need Norman, If that'll get the deal done, we'll put Norman in the deal, so that's the way that it worked out. Have dead. Norman had become a superstar player. I believed that I would have become the next general manager to match. My father would have kept a job for 15 years or somewhere there abouts and then I would have just moved in and replaced him when the time came. Norman couldn't hit a curve ball to save his life could get around on the keys couldn't hit a curb off speed stuff. He had no chance and he wasn't really a true major league player, and there was my chance to be the general manager. Of the New York Mets. "A just to use the Darryl example. That's something that you love to talk about on the air because that set the record straight. I mean, in 30 seconds just now, you basically, you know, rejected the idea that Darryl was playing too deep out of unpreparedness or any other reason. Because you just pointed out line, you would do that on the air, which was great. The other thing, though you talked about relative to Frank Cashen. I don't remember where this goofy idea came from. But late in the 1987 season, your Ft had won the world Siri's 87 half the team was on the disabled list. One time or another. You stayed in it. And then Frank comes up with this idea that you get a manage one more year and go into the front office, which I had no interest in doing that back then. Right on then, somehow that all that all changed again. What? What were those machinations? All about. Well, you know, I I'm an army brat. An army brats only go To the one above them and Frank Cashen was my boss. And I would disagree with him vehemently about things you want, You know, I mean, he wanted to trade Sid Fernandez. For 36 year old left hand pressure. I said no, so it's gonna be fine. They would come up with ideas and he had two or three. You know Fact is why I took that job, I said. Look, I'm going to only talk to you, Frank. I'm not going to talk to you and Lou Gorman. I don't wanna have to on one on me and luckily and that year they look going on which GM Red Sox. I've dodged that bullet, Of course. Then you started training GM like Harrison and McIlvaine. And then I had three guys on one. So I was always balance, you know, to get what I thought was best. For the assets of the New York Mets. And not worried too much about how they took me because I was trying to do the best thing for the New York Mets. And that was and the best thing for the general manager. You know, Davey. We just had David Cone on and we were talking about you with him, and he had said one of the things that I remember, he said. You know he deserves more credit than he actually hasn't. He talked about an instance how we asked him about an instance and he said The 88 playoffs when he wrote that Ark. I remember he was writing for the doing. It was the Daily news and you put him in and relief and 88 after that had come out What goes into your thinking, if you've always been called out a player's manager what goes into that? What did you see in Cone that you would go out and you would put him in right there on relief that next day? Well, let me tell you something. He was An intense competitive and it was a great pitcher. He made a mistake by firing up the I think it was the Dodgers. I'm not too sure about about you know where planes and Uh, he got shelled. Yeah. I mean, I think he lasted three innings or something. And, uh, everybody was writing him off. You know that he was in a big game pitcher, You know, you know that I didn't buy any of that. He just made a mistake by saying that he'd rather face a better hitting team or something, you know, and that fired the Dodgers up and they jumped all over and I think he had that on his mind when you were out there, but I knew he got over it. I talked to him. He was over and I was over it. And I've tried to get him back in the line of fire, and he did great from that point on. He was great. You know when we spoke Tio Kony a little while ago, we were kind of comparing the Dynasty Yankees for which he played after he left the Mets and the Mets teams from 84 to 90 which certainly represented the most sustained success in an era that the Mets have ever had. But when you look back, do you feel that that club should have one more? World Championships. Meaning the medicine. Well, yeah, I mean, you know, in 84 we won 90 games and we were outscored by the opposition by 18 runs. I needed to build up my bullpen because half my bullpen was a little pores. And when we did that we were better. I had a little problem. Uh, some positions and we fix that. You know, uh, We were building we went from 90 wins, 2 98 wins, 108 wins. And then there was the Kevin Mitchell trade and I fought against it because they said he's a bad influence on Darryl Doc said. He's the only good influence. I said this guy grew up in San Diego. The toughest part of San Diego, and he doesn't drink or do drugs. And these other guys, They're not as strong as him. He'll beat anybody's head and tries to do take these guys down there. Oh, well, they traded same thing happened to Dykstra McDowell. Because I told Frank Cashen on dice. Jess, Look, this guy is gonna probably hit 2 20 in the four years that he's not polluted with Loki. And I said, but he's still going to get on base. 33% of the time, hitting 2 20 because he's a gamer. Betrayed him and moved out for a second baseman had to play in center field. Those kind of decisions and Dykstra went over the hill down few. They play them every day, and he hit 2 20 And then the next year he's hitting 300 So I mean, sometimes the people around the general manager overpower the manager. The manager knows he's with him every day. He knows talent. And I think the managers were thought to be taken more heavily instead. The escape goat, You know that everybody has a job. David. I've always had a theory and it's been rejected by a couple of the people that I've spoken to about Joe McIlvaine in particular. Frank obviously is no longer here to sort of defend himself against this, but I always felt that because there was, let's say some heated dialogue between you and Frank Cashen on a semi regular basis that everything changed. Everything. I'm trying to be nice. Everything in Frank's mind seem to change when you won the world. Siri's. It was almost as though there was a conscious effort to say okay. We want it. But now I'm doing it my way and systematically every little bit of what we used to call spit and vinegar was subtracted from that team over a period of two or three years to the long term detriment of the franchise. Did you see it that way? No question about it. I mean, I've fought against. First of all a Dykstra. You know he wanted to be a home run hitter, and so he would pop up way to needle and he came to spring training. Ah anyway, you's probably about £20 overweight and I said Lenny. Just start running. I'll let you know when you can stop. You got to lose that weight. You know, one of your sisters, your table. I'm home run here by I should know..

Alex Rodriguez, Jennifer Lopez Retain JPMorgan to Raise Money for Mets Bid

"Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez are apparently taking real steps to try to buy the New York Mets so there's been buzz for months that they're interested in the team but now they've reportedly retains JP Morgan chase to raise capital so they can make a serious offer why would you want the math but I don't know they like even I know that yeah so I guess there was a hedge fund superstar who is super close to buying eighty percent of the team in a deal valued at two point six billion

Pants on Fire: Cheerleading

"Welcome to pants on. Fire that game show where kids choose between the cheerful and spirited truth and the bad sportsmanship of lies. I'm your host Deborah Gold. Cnn in the studio today is our sound effects about Lisa which stands for live in-studio audience too but not too but that is the question. Pardon me I poured in the lady. Thank you but what is it that you are doing? I'm practicing my lines. I have an audition tomorrow for the robot. Regional Theater production of Hamlet. How that's exciting to thrilling. Indeed but to be honest I am nervous. Oh I really want to be in this play and I've been setting all the lines for weeks. I think you're going to be great and remember this above all to thine own self be true. What is that some sort of fortune cookies saying? No it's a line from no forget it. Why don't you take your mind off your audition and tell us how our game works Shaw Melody? Every ways we bring onto grownups. One is an expert the other ally and it's the job of a human to help us figure out who is too because no one gets about Aligarh better than a kid. I mean we hope right. Otherwise Radha business. What are we lying about today Deborah? We are lying about cheerleading. An activity of organized cheering chanting dancing and sometimes competing with stumps Lisa. Do you know anything about cheerleading. I'm sure had mentioned my great uncle. The electronic scoreboard was installed at a basketball court. I used to go to games and watch him keep score the cheerleaders. Were pretty good but nothing is as exciting as watching your uncle. Flip those numbers. That's real spirit. I I can appreciate that but I think you're going to really feel the spirit when we learn more about cheerleading. Now whatever okay. I say we should find out about our contestants shall we? Who might that be? I know tell us are human child contestant as an eight year old who loves everything about baseball. I'm Talkin every billy leave of it lily are you. I'm good welcome to pass on. We're so happy that you're here. You love everything about baseball. You like watching it or playing it. That's cool duva favorite baseball team. Yes the New York mets. The New York mets and dealer favorite player on the team Noah syndergaard. Mister met. Yeah I was stuffy of him only and I went to high school together. I don't know about that and tells. I hear that there is a forbidden word in your house and it starts with the letter Z. And it is perhaps a vegetable and getting close to something you don't care for Sabre Broccoli might be Zucchini. This is something you do not like correct blab not in any which way not even Zucchini ice cream. Ill Zucchini no. It's kind of fun. So can all right. We'll we want to know some more fun facts about you lilly. But we're GONNA do it the way we do it on pants on fire playing two truths and a lie. Okay so you're gonNA tell us three facts about yourself. Two of those facts will be true. One will be ally and we have to figure out which one is the lie. Are you ready? Yeah Excellent. What are your three facts on so first one is my dreams go to West Point West Point? I know absolutely everything about Harry Potter. Threes my grandparents live in Spain Spain. No not space stain. That'd be fun. Okay what do you think Lisa? Which one of those things is a lie? She said earlier that she knew everything about baseball. Now trying to come back and say she knows everything about Harry Potter. That's like a lot of that. One is the law. That's fair. I think there's one things she doesn't know about. Maybe so lily. Which one of those things is a lie Is My grandparents live Spain? So you're saying you know everything about Harry Potter. Yes okay. Let's see. Do you know what Harry Potter does? Yeah he's a wizard. She does everything she does. Okay Lisa can we get some welcome music? For OUR CHEER EXPERTS. Two four six eight khurda appreciate. I want to hear about it if it's me otherwise I don't talk about it. I just appreciate me. Our first expert is Allison Williams. Allison introduce yourself to Palo Lily. I am a CO owner of an All Star cheerleading program in Brooklyn New York. Pay Thank you very much and our second expert is Gerry mccrae Jerry. Please introduce yourself to lily. Lilly how are you? I'm Cheri and competitive cheer choreographer at Various High Schools in New York and Connecticut and they used to cheerleader twenty Peac University. Two thousand five to two thousand nine go Queenie plus enough. Let's see those are some cheerful sounds? Lisa well I always feel cheerful. It's I'd say time toads. We are going to put our experts on the hot seat while they answered lillies questions Lisa. Who should we put on the hot seat? I Jerry Maguire. Because he's going to show us the money. His name is not Jerry Maguire. But I like your thinking anyway I fine. Blue Okay Lily. What question do you have for Jerry to start? Tell me about what you do. What does a typical day in your job? Look like sure so. I've been hired to come up with competitive cheer routines at various high schools. So I go. I work with the students. I kind of envisioned the whole routine. I teach it to them and we go through all the motions and until we're ready to go. Put it into competitions clue. Yeah that's my job to. That's basically what I do. I see. Allison how did cheerleading become a sport? That's an excellent question. So initially cheerleading began in the UK in the mid eighteen hundreds and then traveled over to the US and at first there were college students who were in the audience watching a football game and the athletes weren't doing well during the football game and so the audience decided that they were going to get together and they were going to encourage their fellow athletes from there the sport grew throughout the US and then officially became competitive sport in the nineteen eighties. It's also spread throughout the entire world since then cool. This is for you. Jerry what would you say is the worst injury seen on the Mat So one time I did see a basket. Toss gone wrong person. Just didn't catch the flyer so she fell down. Hit the person who was on the base that they both kind of hit their head on the ground and Yeah so just to head. Injuries is the worst I saw. Because you know you need your you need your brain to be intact or two. That are they okay. They're they're still with us. That's good yes where I don't see bring them. He said they were with us. It's just an expression that means they're non dead. Humans are obsessed with. Who's alive who is dead going? What are you robots obsessed with? Good question we have you ever had something called Zucchini tuition. So mean Okay Lily. Quick change the subject away from that. Vegeta- this one's for both of you. Can you tell me about the jump? The herkie Chanda Hurricane Joe. Okay who wants to take that question? I'll start okay. So there was a fellow named Lauren Turkey and he founded the NCI the national cheerleading association. And he also invented the pom pom so they named jump after him because everyone loves him and he big in the world of cheerleading. And it's just this fantasy cheerleading jumping with some nice arches in aerials well to add onto that Lawrence her car. The reason why the jump was specific named after him because he attempted to do a split jump and instead bent his leg and as a result he came up with this jump. That did not exist. Which is why was named after him the hurricane.

"A show with the New York Mets the only reasonable leading the shell with the New York Knicks is due to yet another story all of ineptitude and yet another story all of these functions and that is exactly how it played out Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies a lot you're already going into Wednesday night's game we cannot and not your stomach why is that exactly because you knew you were going to be watching a guy that could have been yours send by no means do I look to disparage George J. "Another interesting story line with the masses they move forward in this off season is going to be around Jack Wheeler because Zack Wheeler is now free agent will he accept the qualifying offer I doubt it. I will will get a multi year contract from somebody. will it be the New York Mets. if I'm choosing between and I think the Mets will have to choose between noticing the guard. and that will. I'd rather have Zach will on the state. it's been better over the last two years. and is low maintenance synagogue on the other hand is a problem every other day it's always something within the got. plus it was in the go with two years of team control could get you something in return. I'm looking to trade those in the gun the offices and I'm keeping Zack Wheeler and then you get to a man who's been a corporate for too many times. penyakit it out that of course said when the S. who gives up another home on on Thursday night. I come to that conclusion next year if it would be as pitching the middle relief a live with that I am not going to just give up on it would be as if the one year selling ten cents on the dollar and in seeing go save fifty games next year somewhere else. Hey windy as next year because of how limited that market maybe should be on the stage. but these are not questions that come to the forefront when you're eliminated from postseason contention you start thinking about next year. mother Mickey D. as in Zack Wheeler. then you have the I. L. B. and here's how he reacted as way mentioned the math so once again are not allowed to wear their first responders camps during the game we are allowed to wear them during batting practice and for the pre game ceremonies throw to first like Castro back and I'm sorry it is just incomprehensible to me that Major League Baseball can not seen fit to allow the Mets to pay tribute to those who gave their lives and in some cases are still doing so it's okay for MLB to foist those horrendous players weekend uniforms honest they allow the Houston Astros to where Apollo eleven caps commemorating the moon landing fifty years ago. well that's a pretty good point I mean we did not I don't even think we talked about it like a scripted for round two of those those white uniforms heinous they were terrible heinous so he keeps going on here they were quite somebody at a very very high level of major league baseball's hierarchy needs to answer to this I don't care if it's the commissioner fits Joe Torrey if it's somebody else of power somebody has got to answer this question whose rights are being infringed upon by the Mets wearing first responder caps for one day exactly game. it's not about copyright it's not about licensing we need to know who would be hurt who would be damaged by the Mets wearing those caps and all I know is Major League Baseball has stonewalled the Mets every time they have tried to wear those camps during the games to the point where they stop asking now and they did for many years but finally just gave up and that is just brutal I don't understand it it doesn't make any sense I'm I I'm I'm just afraid that it's the there's a group of people who find law enforcement offensive I would hope that it's not that but trust me I think it is I've been but I have been completely dive bombed by thousands of bought all saying that police the existence of police is offensive. let's do this she. last four.

I have Dirk Nowitzki questions, but really look Donncha questions. This was a spectacular trait that the Dallas Mavericks made at the deadline. I want to know more about Luca Danni. We haven't really dive deep into the Dallas Mavericks. We, you know, we talk a lot about the Sixers. We talk a lot about the Celtics. The obviously the Los Angeles Lakers. The warriors the good teams the good teams the playoff contenders the championship contenders teams in the Anthony Davis sweepstakes. But I do think the Mavericks are one of the more interesting teams because they are really really good at home, and they are really really bad on the road. And they have the rookie of the year diet is going to be a staple in that organization for a while. And that is coming up forty past the hour with Saad Yousif. All right. So before we get to this general manager who gave his thoughts on why baseball free agency is causing the problems that we have right now, Bryce Harper, obviously, not side. Manny Machado, obviously, not side. Jake degrom pitcher for the New York. Mets story coming out today. Jake degrom. Yeah. Obviously it's through its first practice pitches in spring training. He's looking for a long term contract. Okay. From the New York Mets. He's got one year left on the deal, and we had all those stories after during last off season about what Jake degrom be dealt at the deadline. We were hearing about possibly to the Yankees. Remember that story that was a crazy story Jake there. I don't I don't think that was ever going to happen. But there was concern the Mets wouldn't be able to keep their pitcher long-term. So third base seems like David Wright will never die. He. He after the farewell tour the guy last year, he's still under contract. I don't know if anybody seems the realize that but definitely still under contract. Cylinder contract for the next two years. Full no-trade Todd Fraser still exists. Still being paid who's going to be the opening day. Third baseman for the New York Mets. Not David Wright. Come on. I was the biggest supporter of David right? Like, I was pandering the tape that he had a mole that left as long as two years ago. And like I thought he would be going again. But he wasn't. He's just done. But I love like, he's great. He's a great baseball thing. And you should hang around like be apart organization. People love them. But you can't rely on him as a baseball player. Most of the at bats third base. This season will probably just go jumping. Now, if I the guess. Time for Asian. We'll get some of those. But I would assume that he'll I don't know how much you can trust Frazier. He was pretty banged up last year. And I think McNeil is a baseball player. You know, I think he's just good, Tom. Frazier was actually much better than I thought last year. The fact that Mets train not too far. From his home in. Florida he's basically Florida did lows that lifestyle loves this you, know he loves being around the Mets he doesn't like the results of the Mets. Like you said today nobody likes to be being here like losing and we struggled but there's no doubt by the, only way the Mets don't sign Grind it could happen but the only way. They don't find him. Longtime is if they mess it up he wants to sign, here I wrote a column I was checking back I tell him Before spring training two thousand fifteen I sat down with Jacob before to camp opened up and I wrote a column advocating. The Mets signed him at that point I could see how good he was as. The Mets have listen to me back then they had a bargain underhand because you wouldn't even be these numbers we're talking about now and they, would have had. Them to thirty five or whatever and he's the kind of guy with that body, and with his pitch ability. And understanding how to, even if he declines. A little bit I think you'll, still be as successful pitcher all the way through I don't see him as. A kind of data breakdown is a very athletic he's he's long? Softball and, and and the. Things he's done this year getting on top of the, ball you haven't heard any place any type of issues with his arm. And that's a that's a credit to island and Calloway even though we all know that everybody wants to make Mickey Callaway up in yada every night because. That's how Mets fans are another so I buried some fans are extremely frustrated overall. But I do want to stick with the grandma on one more with you what if the Mets don't go to him within extension here Like, he doesn't strike me as a kind of guy who's going to. Hold out and, and make a big deal but he'd absolutely I think he'd had some of the fans on his side if he were to do that knowing how great he has been. In the kind of competitor he is how what, would happen in that case if the Mets decide hey we don't want to. Extend a pitcher until he's thirty six thirty seven years old Yeah I think the Mets don't expensive I think. They're playing with fire this is an organization I can't afford to play with fire and they, they have very few good things going. At this point and right. Now Jacob degrom is the best thing, going to me it's an absolute no brainer to get. This done at some point. And it would. Be for, me would, be the beginning of changing the tune changing the story and getting past, this year frustration and having a guy like, degrom signed and that's the first. Step for, the future where you know..

"The oakland a's which he's just absolutely been dominating saw him the other day i had a perfect game so otani transcending baseball from what he's doing being a a multiple asian player d h starting pitcher so that's gonna be an interesting series and right after that's a difficult one to what the washington nationals that's a brutal series washington is damn good and the nfl is is wild division this year here i mean look with the mets are doing already the mets are off to a crazy get start even with syndergaard not pitching his best but the new york mets have tied the best start for their franchise at eight and one on the year i know it's early nine games in but watching them beat up the nationals and get get a top of the national league early is is encouraging for mets fans no doubt i think the the the thing that the mets pitching staff has to stay healthy they got harvey syndergaard degrom lugo those guys have to stay healthy and if they do i think that's going to be the key for the mets nle's although the nationals are so brutal they really are i think the jags i think the national now going to the world series this year i know it's nine games ten games in but still they they just seem like a complete team well god only knows that they've had they've been next year's team now for how many years i mean next year they're going to be the next year they stay in that yeah it is but bryce harper is going to have a monster year especially being a free agent next year him and manny machado wonder who's going to have a better year between harper machado because you know the both in the ball out and contractors all he know that i mean i mean then you got my trot then goldschmidt those are some again you know we worry about the offense so much for the giants but i mean look at stores around the league look at stanton yesterday when oh for seven and before tonight's game paul goldschmidt came into san francisco three for thirty on the year so it's taken awhile for some hitters get adjusted in two thousand eighteen.
