NY bill would stop MSG from kicking out enemy lawyers

"A New York State bill would stop entertainment venues from kicking out enemies. New York City's Madison Square Garden and other sports venues could be barred from refusing entry to perceived enemies of their owners under a bill introduced in the New York State legislature seeking to amend a current state law. The plan is to add sporting events to the list of public places of entertainment that can not refuse entry to people that arrive with a valid ticket. The original law without that clause was intended to stop Broadway venues from blocking theater critics that they didn't like. The garden and other notable venues announced several people recently using facial recognition technology, the technology has been used to stop a New Jersey mom from accompanying her daughter on a girl scouts filled trip and barred an attorney who owned New York Knicks tickets from attending the game. "From wondery, I am Matt Stroud, it's Wednesday, January 18th, and this is the lead. Fred Katz, welcome back to the show if I am not mistaken if my math is right. This is the first time we've had you here since a year called 2020 when you were covering the wizards. It has been too long. Yeah, I don't even remember anything that happened in 2020. That entire year is just, it's just blacked out, it never happened. I have no idea. So honestly, this feels like my first time because I don't think I was conscious when I did that show. I'm with you. I remember nothing. I actually, today is the only thing I remember ever. So we can just start clean here, clean slate. We'll get rolling. And today we want to dive into some of the key reasons and key players at the center of this next turnaround this season. So to set the stage first, can you just remind us how this team looked early on coming out of the gates through the first 6 weeks of the season or so? They kind of moved back and forth from looking pretty good and looking pretty bad. There were moments that you would watch them and to give up a 145 points at home to the Oklahoma City Thunder. This is a painful loss for the next and they're hearing it from the fans as the boos coming down. Yeah, the Knicks score a 135 points. But it was a defensive disaster. Or they would let go of a double digit lead at home against Dallas, where there was a game against Dallas earlier in the year where Dallas outscored them 41 to 15 and both Luka Dončić and Tim Hardaway junior individually outscored the Knicks during the course of the third quarter in that comeback. And they just collapsed and they lose by a ton in that game. To 100 the final. Fair disappointing crowd at the garden this afternoon to do. Four second half by the Knicks causes their demise. And there are other moments where they come back and they really fight through things, you know, after that Oklahoma City loss that I mentioned, they go on the road for a 5 game road trip and all of a sudden, they win in Utah. And then they went in Denver. And it turned out that through 23 games, there were ten and 13. There were ten and 13 in a kind of ugly way, right? I mean, the defense had fallen to 26th in the league, and this is a team that's supposed to be rugged. And it's supposed to be a good rebounding team. And through those 23 games, they weren't. Well, it was around this time, Fred, that famously Gritty, and defensive minded coach Tom thibodeau made a significant change. So can you tell us about that move and its impact? Basically, the motto unofficially became if you can defend, you can play Tom thibodeau shrunk the rotation down the 9. There were certain guys who Evan fournier at the beginning of the year wasn't providing them with the offense that he did last year and he's not a defensive minded player. Derrick Rose doesn't look like the same Derrick Rose that we've seen. And those guys started to trickle out of the rotation, the young guys all of a sudden start to take over. You see quit and Grimes whose second year guard enter the starting lineup. You see miles McBride is the second year guard to enter the rotation. You see a manual quickly who's a third year guard starting to take a much larger and more important role. On both sides of the ball, mind you. And Mitchell Robinson, who's a 5th year center, has really stepped up and you look at it and it's a bunch of the young guys who are really controlling the defense, playing really hard, playing this Gritty style. And honestly, the most important change is that they have two guys who have thrust themselves into the all star conversation and it's Julius Randle and it's the guy with the point guard who they signed over the summer, Jalen Brunson, and those two guys, their games spiking right around that time as the defense really starts to pick it up. The rebounding really starts to get a lot better. And this sort of rugged identity began to form, and all of a sudden they start to win. And since that date, they won 15 of 22, and they're playing really good basketball. Okay, well, we're going to turn our focus now to three key players and the impact they've had on this next turnaround and first up is a guy you just mentioned. It's the guy the Knicks signed to a big free agent contract this off season. Jalen Brunson. Well, Dylan Brunson is no longer a Dallas maverick. Let's take a look at the details of his new deal with the New York Knicks four years, $104 million. And if you didn't know, Jalen Brunson's dad used to play for the Knicks and he's an assistant coach with a team. So those family ties. And Fred, as good as Brunson was in Dallas, you wrote that there were actually questions when they signed him about his fit with the Knicks. So can you tell us a little bit more about what those questions were coming into this year? So when Brunson was in Dallas, he played a totally different role than he's playing right now. Just like anybody will have been there in Dallas because Dallas says Luka Dončić, who's MVP candidate and not just an MVP candidate. He is the guy in the NBA who probably takes on a larger burden of his team's offense than any other player in the league at this point. And so Brunson was working off of Dončić. He really mastered honestly how to play next to a superstar. Play off the ball, be able to get those catching goes. And he's this incredibly crafty, extremely bright player who has all of these sort of moves. You know, I've described him as a 1990s power forward in the body of a point guard. Like if somebody shrunk down Anthony mason, you know, he's just this small stocky dude who just figures out ways to get off his own shot. He's getting into the paint and then he's making almost post moves to try to get off his shots in order to do that, you need time. In order to have time, you need space. You need defenders to have to stay on those shooters on the perimeter. And he was routinely playing with three or sometimes four other shooters out there. So he had that space, and thus he had that time, and the Knicks just don't have shooters, even with them playing great. There's still one of the worst three point shooting teams in the league. So the questions for Bronson were, is he going to have the time? Is he going to have

"Boards Robinson. Last season, he got an offensive rebound on 29% of the time that Nick's missed the floater. Wow. That offensive rebound rate is higher than one's belonging to 17s. So think about that. One individual is out rebounding entire teams on a particular type of shot. And so the Knicks have been very smart in the way that they've kind of dug into this talent and use this talent and Robinson is really capitalized the numbers are holding up the productions holding up and it's been tremendously important to propping up and offense that doesn't necessarily have to be as good as it is. Shout out to whoever was on the analytics team who was grinding that video or that slice of that particular spreadsheet to find that stat about Mitchell Robinson rebounding floaters. That's impressive stuff. It's a really clever way. I mean, look, team building is so much about just finding market inefficiencies, right? Yeah. And we think of ever since Moneyball came out 20 years ago. We think of market inefficiencies as these huge glaring things that no one's paying attention to. And Moneyball, no one's paying attention to the fact that you just need to get on base in baseball, right? That's this huge glaring flaw. We think of ten years ago in the NBA, 12 years ago in the NBA. It was the three pointer. You look at like the 2011 Mavs who won the title, and part of the reason they got to the title is because their shot profile was just better than anyone's. But teams are always trying to find these little small idiosyncrasies that the edge of the margins, right? And that's one of them. You get enough of them, then you can make the team markedly better without people really realizing it because it wasn't one big change. It was a bunch of really small atomic level changes that turned the team into something sufficient. Well, turning back to Robinson, there were some great quotes in your recent story about him that really make Mitchell Robinson like a guy who's playing with a lot of swagger right now. Can you tell us some of what he's had to say about his own game? He's one of one. You want a funny? Look, you want a funny quote, you go to Mitchell Robinson. I mean, I have some quotes that I'm holding on to now from him for two different stories that are just the only way to put them is they are extremely Mitchell Robinson. I mean, what did he say? I believe I'm a dangerous man. I feel like a dangerous man. That was what it was. I feel like I'm a dangerous man, was what he said. I feel like I'm a dangerous man. Hey. You got to put three guys on me to keep me out the glass, man. That says a lot. I'm really becoming some, you know what I mean? Hey, mono you model, man. And he says everything with a smile, I'm doing a story on a manual quickly and how good of a communicator. He is defensively. And one of the interesting things with quickly is he'll direct the defense from the top of the floor, which is so rare for a guard because the center normally does that because he is the advantage of being in the back and thus being able to see all ten players. Quickly is at the top of the defense, can't see everyone still does it because he knows other teams play so well. I think it's pretty amazing. So I'm working on that story. So I talked to Mitchell Robinson about quickly directing it, basically doing his job along with him and what it's like. Mitch said, no, I had to go up to him. I had to say, slow your roll bucko. That's my job. So yes, I think Mitchell Robinson is very confident. I think he recognizes how funny he is, and how much I think he enjoys making people laugh in the process. So he's definitely got his swagger. He's playing super well. He did once say that all he wants to do on the basketball court is crossovers. So maybe one day we'll get to see that. For now, he's got a simple role, but he's really playing it incredibly well. Okay, coming up, how the dynamics are working between the three primary lefty scorers for the Knicks and just how high expectations should be for this team in New York. And Fred, as good as Brunson was in Dallas, you wrote that there were actually questions when they signed him about his fit with the Knicks. So he had that space, and thus he had that time, and the Knicks just don't have shooters, even with them playing great. There's still one of the worst three point shooting teams in the league. So the questions for Bronson were, is he going to have the time? Is he going to have the space to be quite as efficient as he was? And I think he is answered those questions with a resounding yes. He's taken over this team. He is captaining the offense. Best. He's got 36. And you're not him. 3.8 under two minutes. When it's crunch time, he's the guy who the mix go to for shots. Pulls up three putter. Puts it in. Jalen Brunson nails a three. Back to back clutch threes the next up 9 with 27 seconds remaining. And he's just become so crafty. At finding that space, maneuvering those tight spaces and still being able to create enough room to get off shots or hit the ones off balance or whatever else that these shots that could be bad, shots for anybody else or great ones for him. So it has been the Bronson show Brunson. Frozen Johnson, the fade away nails it. How about 38 for Jalen Brunson? I'm in the Knicks I've been looking for a point guard since the beginning of time. I think even before the sport was invented, somehow, even though it defies all logic, there's some like sort of overlapping timelines where basketball had yet to be invented yet the New York Knicks were still looking for a point guard and them having not just a point guard but a really good one. It is quite the change. So for the next leading scorers are Julius Randle, Jalen Bronson, and RJ Barrett, and we will talk about Randall and Barrett in a bit more detail. But the next defense has also played a big part in this with pacers head coach Rick Carlisle recently calling New York a quote unquote smash mouth team and interestingly enough, the Knicks started winning not too long after an unsung player, second year shooting guard, Quentin Grimes joined the starting lineup. So can you tell us a bit about Grimes as a player and his impact on this next team? Yeah, he's kind of been in the ideal sort of three and D kind of player. He's not just shooting threes either. You know, I wrote a story recently about how good he is at putting the ball on the floor when it gets kicked out to him. He's a great decision maker. When he drives, he really reads the game incredibly quickly. And on the other side, he's guarding the other team's best player basically all the time. And it's really changed the calculus of their defense because now you don't have to have RJ Barrett guarding the other team's best player as often as he was early in the season. You know, since they shrunk that rotation to 9 players on December 4th and started that 15 and 7 stretch. Over this period, their second in the NBA and points allow per possession. When before that stretch, going into it, they were 26th. Wow. And boys will out per possession. It is a giant giant giant change. I don't want to hand all of it to one guy, but Grimes gets a nice chunk of credit for it. They play really hard is the other thing. Kenny Smith from TNT has this line. He says all the time that playing hard gets you 41 wins. You play hard for every single game. You're going to be 500. And there are really good case study for that. So the next took Grimes 20 5th overall in the 2021 draft. And in a recent story, you said that Tom thibodeau was a big reason why they took him. Can you tell us the story there? Yeah, totally. I mean, tibbs has always been super in on Grimes. And if you watch Grimes play and you know tibbs history and his character and his preferences, you can easily tell why. You know, the interesting thing with tibs is like, you don't need sources to know which players tubes loves and tibs doesn't love. You don't need to know any players. You don't need to know any coaches. You don't need to know any front office people. You don't even need to know if tibs has seen the player play. He has such a type, right? And it's always that dude who is going to be the first one to dive on the floor who's going to be crazy physical who doesn't care about his own shots and who's going to fight like a maniac on the defense event because that's all he cares about. Oftentimes, the winners determined by the hustle. It's the small things that will win the big games for you. It's getting on that loose ball to tip in. It's the deflection, whatever it might be. And Grimes really fits that description. The toughness, multiple effort, great work ethic, and you see it in everything that he does, whether it's a shooting drill, one on one drill, I'm sure he's the same way with Domino's. You know, he just he's a fierce competitor. And Grimes comes from a culture that's kind of tibbs like. You know, he played for Kelvin Sampson in college, who is a very similar type of coach in terms of the way he handles his players to the way the tibs is and Grimes his dad too. I've talked to Grimes about his dad. And his dad was a great player. I know he's that played D one. I think it's Santa Clara. I can't remember if he played pro. But he was a great player and his dad was his coach the whole time growing up. And Grimes has talked about how his dad coached him similarly to tips. So now he goes to tibs and it's like some players will go to tips and they're like, oh, this is a different experience than I've had with a lot of other coaches who might let things slide. And Grimes goes to tibs and he's like, well this is the same thing that I've had my whole life between my dad and Kelvin Sampson. This is nothing. So Grimes relishes that sort of stuff. So I think there's a lot of mutual respect there and they mesh very well from a personality standpoint and from a basketball standpoint. Grimes is also somehow like the perfect surname of a guy who's not afraid to roll up his sleeves and do the dirty work on the court. So absolutely. Yeah, I mean, between him and Emmanuel quickly being extremely fast. And his initials being IQ and him being incredibly smart defensively. I mean, this team is loaded with acronyms all over the place. Yeah, yeah. Well, as you put it, thibodeau's home address is his team's practice facility. He saw similar traits and Grimes. I want to turn now to another guy. You did an in depth breakdown recently of the importance of senator Mitchell Robinson to this season's team. Now, Robinson is in his 5th season with the Knicks and it seems like as someone who observes his team from afar, he's a guy who has maybe been a little frustrating for Knicks fans and coaches at times before this season. So before we get into this season, can you quickly just give us a snapshot of that? I would say, and this is my opinion that the biggest criticism of Mitch in recent years is the inconsistency. He'd have some games where you'd be like, that guy could make an all defense team one day. He just completely controlled the paint. He got every rebound. That guy looks unbelievable. This is where you see the ceiling. And then you'd have other games where he would foul too much, or he would just, you wouldn't feel him, you know? With the defensive minded center, you want to be able to feel him and you'd have games where you'd watch, and if you weren't paying close attention, you might not even realize that he'd been on the floor for 5 minutes. I think this year still has games where he falls off a bit, but he has been so much more consistent. And it's not just the defense, either, which has been really good. But his offensive rebounding, you know, I talk about how the next can't shoot threes. They take a lot of them, but they don't make a lot of them. They shoot one of the worst percentages and part of the reason. Can I talk about the defense revving up? The offense is in the top ten right now too. And part of the reason is because there are moments throughout the season when their best chance to score is with a missed shot. Robinson, the second effort banks it all. Mitchell Robinson a piece on the boards here in the first half Lopez look at Robertson cooking. Ten rebounds already. Mitchell Robinson just gobbles up these offensive rebounds. He's been the best offensive rebounder in the Eastern Conference this year. Second best in the NBA behind Steven Adams. And the Knicks factor that into their game plan, like back to that into the way that they design their offense. They have an inordinate amount of guys who are great at floaters. And part of the reason they wanted that was because they saw in the analytics that Mitchell Robinson is unbelievable and offensive rebounding missed floaters. Barrett drives down. Mitchell Robinson on the follow. It was a horse shot from Barrett. But he was double covered left Robinson open. Lopez fell underneath. So he's the opportunity for Robinson 14.16

"new york knicks" Discussed on The Lead

"But Brunson isn't the only reason the Knicks are winning, and today we are joined by the athletics, Fred Katz, to look at some of the key factors behind this Knicks renaissance, including a couple of unsung heroes who have fought into this team's Gritty, defensive identity. From wondery, I am Matt Stroud, it's Wednesday, January 18th, and this is the lead.

"Game too was a a playmaker but you just need to see that at all year. I would like to see that. Be something that happens this year but again like it just doesn't seem like that's in the cards so unless something happens with him just becoming a lights out cheer this year. It's hard to see his role really expanding that much i did think like he had a solid similarly You know part of that too again. Like he's he's older than i am a just about a show that's awful. I sound like somebody timeout. Chris duarte now but it's a really tough situation for him like i don't wanna like shame. The knicks front office for like. I think some people didn't like vic when it happened. I didn't really have a great read on it But also you just can't really account for julius randle becoming a guy who is going to be this good because like we had. I mean this time last year. We're talking about. Julius randle being an interesting trade peace because he's on on an expiring like bench. Could he go fill out if you goes in like plays in utah. Something like i remember that being thrown last year and now like yeah that three months annual all fuck that no. That's not happening. So i don't know what to make you. I really hope that tibbs does find a way to allies him. What is just hard to see it. So far down. The pecking order. And we kind of know how tibbs tend to go with playing younger guys. Were you know don't necessarily fit what he's trying to do. So we'll see on that end. But i still think you can do something positive. So that's good World want to go with this. I guess kinda to close out. What are you most excited about. This what do you think will make this season. The most successful successful for the next like who is Houses really being swung. What are what are the swing pieces for you in this team reaching you know maybe a ceiling that we don't quite see i'm it's gotta be come health And if he can get back to like Who he was two seasons ago like the all star level I don't know how likely that is on to be honest Probably unlikely but if if he somehow were to become like all star time but that would be like a shot in the arm to the next Fun intended. But i just think that i just think that he is the guy that creation ability His playmaking ability. He adds another. He adds a piece that the next did not have last year and it was a piece that they desperately needed You can stay healthy. I think he swings things a bunch. Mitchell robinson as well Again until really homage robinson if he can stay healthy I'm pretty sure he like key. Command a top five defense like on his own. I think he's good. Maybe not yet..

"From from the florida range. One of the things. I really liked. It wasn't super consistent. But the post fadeaways were there for him last year. Like you start taking those I don't have numbers for them but it felt like you made them in a decent enough clip or at least it was enough to be intriguing because you didn't see that as much his first year So i'm interested to see how that plays out a few workshops that a little bit more because you know just naturally being someone who's gonna play the two three that has that kind of size and strength vantage on. That's going to be guarding him. I really like that. As a in terms of becoming more of a of an oddball score and then like what you mentioned with the with the driving games interesting. Because i wrote about artery last year and i thought you know going back through diving through the numbers and everything i think he was like a top fifteen drives for seventy five last year in that tracks in washington like he's incredibly good downhill. I think he's going to be the big thing for him is having you know. Maybe it results in in less drives per game or rim attempts per game. But i think finding a little bit more steadiness in the way that he's attacking because he goes like i mean accelerates. He's not very bercy but he's good at like he hits his top speed like ace app and get to the rim. but he's his deceleration. Kinda sucks right now. For being honest like he's not good decelerating at the rim and it results in a lot of offhand really wonky looking layup attempts like he does everything with his left hand. There's very little right. Handcraft in there yet and i wanna see in a work on the right hand but be also just stopped taking stuff across your body like he does so much stuff that makes it harder at the rim than it needs to be is not as simple as saying. Hey stop doing that. Ba- like does this stuff. I want to see from this year. Like just cleaning up some of that stuff. But i really do think like i agree with you. It's not like there are some of the limitations for him is a finisher right now. Our physical but it's not like it's because of his mechanics and what he's doing not because he's like some terrible leaper like he's not a great vertical athlete for being completely honest but in so good powerfully and he has. I don't think it's touches like so detrimental that he's not going to be able to be like a league average at the rim in from considering how much he gets there lake. That's fantastic still positive. You know he does have some like awkward. Finish that the room. You know to drive right finished left. He always always trying to get back to the left hand. He's he's like barry left-handed Even though he's not bad with his right hand when he does go up with his right he i think he is comfort thing for him But yeah like you said. I don't think it's anything that's detrimental to his life..

Julius Randle Agrees to 4-Year, $117 Million Extension With New York Knicks

"Does it mean to that franchise to have all Star forward Julius Randle locked up and agreeing to a four year $117 million contract extension? Good for the Knicks because I want to give somebody credit. Somebody put it on Twitter, and they said that he was like the 45th highest paid player. Even you know, looking at that extension and And going out over the coming seasons. Something like 45th. Okay, so the highest paid player Excuse me, And so when you have a player on that contract, even if he progressive even if he's you know 90% or 80%. Of the Julius Randle in this coming season that we saw last year. That's still a very good contract. So this is beneficial for the Knicks photo is smarter. Julius Randle, You never know what's gonna happen. Um, the season leading up here. Unrestricted free Do you think He left a lot of money potential money on the board. He could have signed a $200 million deal next summer if everything went well, but he took the security and he gave the next some cat flexibility moving forward by doing that to me. This was the rare win when Where player and team kind of both benefit from a situation

"League and steph is one of the very few that you will be able to say that about no matter how much money he is making his first extension coming in just eleven million dollars a year because of all those ankle troubles. That seemed like that. Allow them to keep building the team the way they did. It allowed them to have the flexibility to keep loading up like people forget that because it seems like ancient history. But that was a big big deal. Now i mean the confluence of events having the steph curry friendly contract because the ankle issues obviously the cap spike in two thousand sixteen. That is how they got. Kevin durant that led to a couple more titles so there is no question that this team has had great fortune at times in this past decade. Now they're running into. Miami guy gets his pandemic. He'll be back. Oh south beach. Yeah not going so great but maybe we'll be back on south beach. Markeith is a fine fit there. He's he's another backup power forward. Maybe conceal so minutes with him at center. Next to dwayne de. It's all about three point shooting with him if he has a good three point shooting season. Or a good run like. He didn't the bubble for the lakers. He's going to play real minutes for them and if he doesn't it sort of harder to but it totally worth the flyer. Good player tough player. I mean this isn't all toughness team right now. Right those guys the he'd have always had that as a calling card but in particular. This feels a quintessential that that early miami heat vibrate.

"Mark that we hear some of the other teams complain about that. They have such as sort of carrot here of well. You're gonna compete for the lakers. You're gonna live in los angeles that'll make up for some of the money right and you're gonna play with lebron. I mean that's the big thing you know. Lebron should get If if there's a gm year war to goes a political lebron. Get some of that. 'cause i'm sure he's making calls one But but he's the marquis. Draw him and anthony davis so he could get the elite at the end of their careers that they take. These minimum deals and join forces with them guys that want to win a championship and to the to the rich goes spoils the golden state warriors. Were getting guys like this. You know brooklyn is getting guys. You know this way so i. That's that's typical for the big market. Teams that are successful but the lakers putting on that uniform. You know it's it's really really special and to do it with lebron and and knowing that they have a strong chance to be a championship team. If you're going to take a pay cut that's the place to do it and it's not just lebron as a player you know. We all know the brown. If you're outside shooter he's gonna he's gonna feed you. Good looks all the time. What does it mean for a young player like me marker catching on it changes the entire perception of you when you're playing in the conference finals and the finals in you're making big shots and you guys have an opportunity to do that. The whole world is watching. The whole league is watching. It sounded january game for the charlotte hornets. These guys have a chance and see a chance to change the way everybody feels about them to come to to give themselves an opportunity to play in moments. They've never played it before. That's a big part of it too. Absolutely also say you know david phys del going there. You've had coaches and i remembered. Brian shaw saying this in the past. When you're assistant coach for the lakers is better than a mike brown and said to is better than some head coach jobs in a league. So a guy like fidel coming. There is certainly going to help him. Perhaps get a job next summer in the same way that it help Jason kidd absolutely and of course. The same is becoming true in brooklyn right. "Arm their way to the knicks someday and so the most important thing is just build on what happened last season and they've managed to do that without hamstring in their cap. I love the kemba move for a couple of reasons first of all. I just think that he is going to succeed there. I understand the size issues and when they get to the playoffs and the defense and all of that stuff. But i do think that team is set up for him to do well and also remember when you're talking about drawing those agents eck part of it that you're selling is msg right. The atmosphere the fans. Msg wasn't very fun place to play if you were the home team for a while there right. He of fans more coming to see the opponent than they were. See the team. There wasn't that excitement. We saw that excitement return to the garden. This past season and with kemba walker. Man it is going to be off the chain and then in turn you can sell to other free agents that in turn you can say to guys look at the gardens like when it gets rocket. Imagine if they were cheering like that for you. And i go ahead. And he has a two syllable first name and last name so that that's cambe why her that's gonna be loud and an amazing an msg and if it's too need skills that they need he really does and just one of the nicest guys in the league right so the idea that he gets to come home and the situation. That's so comfortable to him. I think everyone around the mba is just happy kemba and happy for this fit. I do want to get to the team. That eliminated new york in the playoffs. I like you was horrified by the events that occurred on January 6th Congress, not because I thought these people posed any real threat. Because of what the left would twist this into. Unfortunately, as of 25, 2021, we're both right and the left is clamping down like a vice. One of the tenets of conservatism is that political feuds are settled at the ballot box, not on the streets. We defeat our enemies on the field of ideas, not on the playground. So when that breaks down, the left has an open season on conservatives. And quite frankly, there is little defense. It does not matter how hypocritical this reasoning is. It does not matter that the left does everything to encourage violence against anything or everything. Not openly, Of course. Well, sometimes we know how these things manifest. You've talked about the events many times on your show. None of that matters as long as 90% of the media operate as the Democrat socialist totalitarian propaganda machine. I do believe there is hope because of the already evident overreach of the illegitimate Bytom regime. One can hope Well, Russ, I think you said a lot there, So I have my concerns to about the trajectory this country. I think that, you know, you know that I'm like there's some shows where everything is all the economy's gonna crash tomorrow. But when a group Attacks the United States Capitol that's going to leave the show. Just so we're clear. I don't want to be talking about this. I'd rather be talking about the New York Knicks. I'm not here to talk politics. You know this But what happened yesterday is not politics. It happened yesterday is terrorism. I mean, pure and simple. Before you push back on that the FBI defines terrorism as quote violent criminal acts committed by individuals and or groups. So further ideological goals stemming from domestic influences, such as those of a political, religious, social, racial or environmental nature. End of quote. And that's what happened yesterday. And if you have an issue with the word being applied to what happened, I suggest maybe you take a long look in the mirror because that's what that was. And if your resistance to using that word is because they were largely white. And wearing red, white and blue. I would suggest you think about that as well. Just because they were chanting USA. Yusa does not mean that they were doing anything. In the name of America. You don't storm the United States Capitol and attempt to disrupt democracy in the name of America. If you were to swap out yesterday's terrorists, for people with foreign accents or different skin color, you might be tempted to call it terrorism. And then you might be thinking that it was one of the worst days in American history. I would suggest that you do not make any attempt at a false equivalency with protest. And you sure as hell better not be drawing comparisons between demonstrations against racist police violence over the summer, and what happened yesterday. Don't do that. Protests over the summer were demonstrations against racist police violence. It was about protecting lives yesterday was not a protest. Protest is normal Protest is good protest is encouraged. Nothing about violently storming the United States Capitol is normal or good. It should not be treated as such. There should be no attempts to justify what happened. You see? Language is important Language matters because it tells you something about the country if you saw what happened yesterday. And you want to call that a protest? Consider why you're doing that. This example. Draymond Green made that very point Last night after the Warriors game. It just goes to show the police and system was built against black people. You know, black and brown people, and that's the reason those reactions are different. That's the reason Someone can walk or run or bust their way through or whatever, into the speaker of the house office and put their feet on death. Like they're sitting at home on her couch, you know, storming into a building and busting out Windows and Carrion podiums and on all that other stuff That's not a protest. That's a terrorist attack, and so Stop describing those people the same way You describe someone who just stand there and make a channel say we want justice. We want peace. Stop using the same word is disrespect was ridiculous. In a shameful, you know, to keep calling them protestors. Protestors are terrorists. And if you were wringing your hands about looters breaking windows at a target over the summer. Yeah, sure as hell hope your raging about terrorists destroying and looting the U. S. Capitol. If you were calling me over the summer, angry about somebody looting a store. I hope you're on the phone to your elected officials demanding accountability and justice as well. And if some of your elected officials are the ones who are inciting this, I hope you're lighting up their phone lines, too. Because again those road protesters.
