"You know, we we we we were We played five games. Now This is this is a lot of hockey. So you know, I can understand how we're lacking a little bit in the Energy department right now, because I thought they got outplayed by tempo. I mean, I think Columbus only had 16 or 17 shots on goal in that game. I know Columbus wants to play a really defensive style of hockey, but they're going to need to do more than that to be Temple Bay. So, Yeah, I can see now how certain teams like the Washington Capitals Look dead. To me. They look like they got nothing from there, also missing one of their key players and Nick Backstrom. Uh, you know, so you've got the Flyers Montreal last you carry all of that one, too. By the way, I I just picked Washington based off reputation. I mean, I didn't realize the Islanders were. I think the Islanders even if Backstrom was there, I'm not a I'm not loving what's going on with the with the Washington Capitals. You know, it's just I think the New York Islanders are a type of team that's that are billed for the playoffs right now and the other day, Matt Martin got in a fight. Ah Clutterbuck scored a goal. You know that Fort Line is is clicking and all you got mad Barzel. Just lightning speed out there you've got you know you. You've got some really, really good piece on the AL inside. That makes a difference, But you watch Philly Montreal last night. It was a one Nothing game. It was nothing like no energy. I read it was dead like Montreal after beating Pittsburgh and Philly after basically cruising through the U know their own robin and everything they're there doesn't seem to be As much energy in that, so maybe it's just where we're at. Right now. You gave us that you gave us to destroy Dad on Friday, and it was Carter Heart and Cary Price and I said Cary Price will be an afterthought. When Carter hearts Now when I say afterthought, I don't mean like He? No people will say he wasn't good. He's obviously a phenomenal goal. But Carter Heart is obviously an unbelievable up incoming goalie that today. That day that I say Carter Heart will blow away past Cary Price in terms of who's a better goalie, and then he goes out gets shelved. Five. Nothing and and and then carry price get shut out. It was Godard got Yang Carey Price gets a shutout, and that's gonna happen on And really, I thought Montreuil was really good. In the 1st 2 games of that series. They attacked the front of the Nat. Still, he needed to make an adjustment he did last night. They played a lot better defensively. But you were at that time now. And Petey, like I don't know about you some using my personal experience to kind of Ah See what it would be like in the bubble. Right? So let's say you go on a 10 10 day road trip. You're playing five games in 10 days and you're going on the road trip. You get on the plane. You're excited, man. We're going on this long road trip. This is going to be so much fun, right? You're playing cards with the boys. It's great. You go to dinner The first night You played the first game. You played back to back? You have a day off by half way into the threat by day five day six. You're like, Oh, my God. I'm tired now. Can we go home? We still have four more days of this road trip like I'm I'm done with it. And I think this is what's happening right now. In the bubble like the first couple of weeks in the bubble, it was great. You guys are playing Frisbee and Rod the bod as his shirt off and You know guys are hanging out and it's great. It's fun in the bubble. They have movie nights and everything, but now they they seem to me like they're heading a wall there, heading a wall where it's going to get harder and harder and harder to motivate yourself. To get yourself going to be away from your family. We're already seeing now to Caracas had no Man. Listen, I I ca n't tolly. Feel went to cure. Ask is feeling that maybe he had some reservation going in the bubble faces. I'm going to give it a shot. I'm going to give it a shot. And after two weeks in the bubble, he's like I I'm not doing well, I gotta leave. I'm sorry, but I'm not doing well. You know, I gave it a good shot. I but right now, my family and you know that's more important and And I gave it a shot and I got to go. I can totally see that. Hang off on hang hang on on to harass Because I'm going to ask you a 10 30. We're gonna have a conversation with a comeback after the next. You're just good teammate. Bad teammate, you know, but it still goes with the with the energy that I'm seeing in the bubble right? And and that's and that's And that's kind of like you go back and you bring up the 10 day road trip and you talk about hitting the wall. I agree with you. I mean, it doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. You're like Getting herded around like your cattle and yes, granted. Ladies gentleman you are You're treated like your next to royalty. When you're travelling around in the NHL charter flights, top notch food, you know, great daily per diem to make sure you're eating really Well, you're staying in the in the five star hotels like life is good. What did you ask? Anybody asked anybody that spends their career travelling. It doesn't even wanna be a pro athlete. There. I know people that are traveling sales reps. I know you know people that travel for work and they're gone for a week at a time, and it's it is exhausting. And I think Marty I think it's going to be. I think it's going to come down to It's going to be a battle of the of the mentally tough. The mind is going to be a battle of the mind. This is going this isn't about physicality, you know, R runs in the play offs like we went through conference finals here. Whatever. You. You, you finish round two. And you've played a month of Aachen the playoffs and you look ahead and you see if we want to go all the way to the end. We still have another month. We're just halfway Listen about this. These guys are in the first round right now. They've been in the butt in the bubble for three weeks. You know the better part of last three weeks, and they probably have another Eight weeks in front of him. Like you're not even half way in there to go and win a standing up. It is going to become extremely extremely hard and the longer you go more teams, they're going home. The bubble become smaller and smaller, the energy and the bubbles, not the same because you don't have all these teams doing these activities and whatever is going to get harder and harder as we go. It's weird is it will be weird to it's kind of like to meet. I remember..

"Straight to the point that capitals no, they should not have lost a two goal lead in the game to the Islanders sported, too, but also straight to the point, Jon Carl's said, talking about the blindside hit by Anders Lee on girls since teammate Nickolas Backstrom looked real dirty to me. "Sabres didn't get anything going in the scoring department until the second period of last night's game against the New Jersey Devils, but they put up a big number is they put up five goals in the second period on route to a five to one win over the New Jersey Devils Jeff Skinner got the scoring started with his twenty ninth goal the season. And then following suit was CJ Smith and lords pilot both getting their first NHL goals also Casey middle stat and Jake McCabe. Adding to the scoring fray sabres will next next to have a couple of days off. And then they'll be back on the ice for game action on Friday night when they go down to Carolina and Jeff Skinner's return to the hurricanes. Faceoff separate seven thirty on Friday with Pauline belts pre game show getting underway at six thirty right here on W GR important scoreboard watching yesterday as we take a look at the standings and figure out who's in and around the sabers in the Eastern Conference in the Atlantic Division. The Bruins they were in action. A four nothing shutout win over. The wild remain. Two points ahead of the sabers. The hurricanes sabres will face on Friday. They get a four three win over the islanders. So the islanders they fall. So now, they fall two points back of the sabres while the Canadians. They get a three two win over the Red Wings to stay one point behind the sabers. But however with the wind the Canadians, they volt over the New York Islanders. I'm Ed Baxter. This is Bloomberg raining. Ed. Thanks very much. Let's go ahead and bring our guests back in. That's Paul kidney coming to us from Hong Kong chief strategist at die walk capital markets. All right, Paul when last we left it. We were talking about how do we how do we allocate right now? We're looking at not really so much trying get returns I feel but at least trying to find safety. How do you see it? Right. So let me just take one step back and just take a look at where we succeed. The the overall MAC her picture, your couch our equity strategy in that context. So first of all, you know, we are seeing a drop down in US growth that was for the first three quarters of this year growing at three point three percent. This quarter two point five two thousand nineteen we're forecasting just below two point five and then in twenty twenty we see a more significant drop off such that by Q four twenty twenty our internal projections off. Zero point one percent, so borderline recession as early as as Q four twenty twenty so this combined with the fact that we've already heard from pow say that the neutral rate the tunnel neutral rate for the fed funds has been shifted down. At the fed. We believe this is due to shifting down in their own internal projections for inflation expectations may be partly related to oil maybe partly related to their own projection of the pasta the cycle. So in this context with a sewing down in the US economy with the fed pulling back, we think we're getting towards the end of this strong trade war driven US dollar phase. Now, this means that pressure is likely to be taken off emerging markets over the Neartime, particularly over twenty nineteen. So we think twenty nineteen will actually be an okay year. Even in absolute terms for emerging markets in Asia. So we have recently increased our waiting in India, which is at top market in the region. Got the strongest earnings growth at roughly twenty two percent this year. It's also very expensive. It is. But it's that that premium as is deserved for two reasons. One for the strong earnings growth to the fact that that earnings growth is not correlated with the global trade cycle and three just had a collapse in energy prices, which has taken the pressure off the Reserve Bank of India to raise rates, in fact, it's not our base case. But I would say there's a non zero probability the RBI cuts rates in two thousand nineteen. So I think the policy the macro the openings outlook for for for India's superior than anywhere in the region and that premium is much deserved. So we've actually up waiting there significantly similarly with Indonesia, we've increased our waiting there as well. So not only is that a positive for the Carne account is a big importer of oil. But because of their linked to domestic subsidies on Energie falling oil prices as positive fiscal balance. So we're starting to increase within Asia ex Japan emerging. Markets who've taken down developed, so we have we have downgraded Hong Kong from overweight to neutral downrated Singapore to to slightly onto wait. We've got a still overall because I cover Asia Pacific. So overall, we have you know, a def- still defensive tilt were overweight. Japan have been for more than twelve months Japan underway, Asia, go ahead. God is sure. In terms of great. Thank you so much for the lay of land there. I'm curious. I always ask folks here in terms of safeties. What do you think about cash as well? Right. Well, I'm not a multi-asset strategist. But if I was put myself in that in that particular sure in that particular category. I would be just a little bit concerned about having too much cash at this particular point in time or short dated securities. Because where I think we are actually getting towards the end of the cycle where a preference. Towards the long end of the bond. The the the the Bonker is actually somewhat more attractive than the short. So I don't think the real fear of rising inflation as it was earlier. This year is is quite there now. So frankly, I would rather to be sort of putting money to work outside of equities slowly but surely into middle of next year in in in long dated sovereign bonds. All right. Great stuff, Paul kidney. Thank you so much for your lay of the land across India, and Indonesia, as of course, we try to figure out what's happening between the US and China in terms of the.

"Their fourth win in a row. And they've taken the first two games on this three game homestand. They will conclude Saturday against the Ottawa Senators a very close game tonight, and frankly, the lightning we're kind of back in their heels for a good portion of it against the New York Islanders, but they do prevail for to. Let's bring in Greg Llanelli and. Yeah. We were talking Greg. You really feel strongly that the islanders maybe ruining the fact they only had the one goal lead out of the first period because they were really dominant in puck possession in the first period. There was reflected we talked about the attempts twenty four to eleven islanders first period for shot attempts, lighten up the puck lot and islanders. Got there early goal. But they came out of that period only up one nothing, and I think to your point off the air, and we can sell everybody on there. They didn't have many great scoring chances. Bailiffs was Bailey's goal was overall based on how much time they had with the puck. It didn't necessarily translate to a lot of rubber on the net. Now that being said that was a wasted opportunity in my opinion. When you take a look at turning points in this game a chance to go up to nothing three nothing. If you're the islanders against Tampa Bay on the road, you have to take advantage of it. You felt like Tampa Bay at some point was going to settle down. They did. But I think that allowed Andrei vasilevskiy to get in the flow. And I thought he made to really key moments in the second period big saves. Right after the Joseph goal. Yeah. There was a sequence which was against flow of play because I the right rolling at that point. And then he had one that was what four saves in a row says. Yes. And what Lee came box was just I mean, you need your goaltender at times to do it. And he did in the second. You know, I go back to that first period. So we mentioned the islanders had been out shot and a lot of games. They're allowing a lot of shots on average. They're not taking a lot of shots on average. But their team goes against it being really good right there with the late night like top five in terms of team defense. I wonder if they had a concerted effort to get pucks the net in the first period, which sounds good. Yeah. You have that much puck possession lick Vassilev ski face sixteen shots. He had a lot of routine saves. They were just putting pucks of the net. It looks. Sometimes it hits a lay goes in. You never know what can happen. But I wonder if they had that to do over again, I wonder if they would have held onto a little bit longer forced the lightning to have longer shifts in the defensive zone and. Break them down a little point. You know, sometimes the shot is not the best play. If you know that you're really rolling in the Lightning's goal. Particularly Miller goal to me was a goal. That was the result of the islanders getting tired. Yeah. It was a long ship where they couldn't get off the ice. And they are tired and the lightning worked at around. And there were a little late reacting to Sergei Chavan than they expected him to shoot need feted across the Miller who had you know, a clean path to to score that goal. And again, I'm not going to harp on the first period a lot. But I think the way I would look at the first period is the islanders could've done more with the puck possession that they had whether you're going to say quality chances or goals either to only come out of that period up. One was probably a pretty significant. What you were saying, I think it was the flaming. It's kind of like, you know, time of possession and football. What are you gonna do at that time? You get a score. Or are you just gonna control play? I mean at some point in the team is going to adjust and that might have something to do more with the islanders personnel. I don't know if they're a highly skilled team, you mentioned doing more with the puck. I mean, they have a couple of guys now who can fill the net, but it's not like Tampa Bay where they have guys that know what to do with it. But I'm dancing around rally. You can grind their grinding team. Like, you know, lease heart of the puck Nelson's hard of the puck bars L is really cry. He's a really towel right player. Andrew Ladd is hard to the puck like they could have. And again, I am not going to second guess at islanders played. That's not really my job. But that's kind of how I looked at the first period. Which was I think they fired a lot of shots at the net. You know, watch the highlights rich shots from the point Bassil ABC's gloving them in holding a lightning rebel to get fresh guys out on the ice. Which again, they didn't get a lot of the puck in that first period. They did in the second though. So the segments we've talked about this when the lightning have carried play in games where they have carried play and also been swimming upstream in the same game. The reason they're winning a lot of these is would they are carrying play. They are doing more damage tonight was very slightly more damage but more than when the other team is carrying play. And bass Lobski has a has a big role in that clearly Israel, though saves the you know, he was really good during those penalty kills tonight. He asked to be he has to be. So I look at the end of the day. Dave we've talked about this. You've said at a number of times pick up points launch points. That's what they're doing right now. Yeah. I do think Phil's right though, that they will look at this game and say we do need to be better for longer. And in most nights. Let's be honest. They are tonight. They were good enough. Yeah. Well, that's the coach. But. His job. Yeah. That's his job. All right. Gregg, we'll talk on Saturday when it comes to town. That'll do it for me. Thanks everyone involved. Tonight's broadcast Jason Baird back to the lightning rating at our studios. Steve I think along status in the radio booth for Erica Rowlinson. Greg Llanelli villas busied. Oh, this is Dave Mishkin saying so long from Emily arena. Final score tonight. It was a lightning four and the islanders to connect. Everybody. When you think about it? A flag is no whole heck of a lot of anything. It's fabric sewn to a stick it meets the wind to do its job. A flag may not be much..

"New York. Islanders alumni averages. Some of the flavor from the alumni ceremony in our first intermission tonight. There are many of the names going back to the nineteen seventies. When now time for special feature has put together by our Kenny Konrad, it talks about Anders lease terrific relationship with his late, friend FINA. And it also previews his cancer jam which is coming up in the month of November. The skill set of a professional athlete doesn't just slam them hefty contracts attention and endorsement deals it also puts them in a position to make a difference for islanders. Captain, Anders Lee his calling to make a difference came naturally back a few years ago now and speech made by females. Kanuma bent. And I was at the time looking for looking for knowledge trying to find a way to get back to the community and try to find my purpose and causes for that. When I saw him speak about cancer himself, dealing with near west Oma. Pretty moved by that. And kinda got in touch with the tangible. Ever since listening to that speech? Made by FINA Lee has been involved with jam cancer in the can the pediatric cancer organization based around can jam events at the time female was just fifteen but the speech he made was so profound that it's sprouted or relationship that the aisles captain and labor forget you. And I were came came good buddies. And. I think I was a little bit of knowledge for him to enjoy some experiences and to see some things they might not have had you know, for for me. He was I learned more from him than the other way around. He was one of those people that just come true-life kind of changes your perspective on things. Person. He was how smart he was waiting held himself always positive out with the noise in such a room situation. So, you know, one of those special people. Really make an impact on your life. Pheno lost his nine year battle with stage. Four neuroblastoma this past summer on July eighteen and although his time on earth was limited to just seventeen years. He provided a lifetime of memorable and profound words when came to cancer and the fight for his life. This is some of what aired at work Lee center when female dropped the ceremonial puck last March with Lee by his son. I cannot tell you just how honored I feel to be here before you all now, I've always hold myself. This absolutely anything I can do to help out kids and adults with cancer. I think jump at the chance and day on. Absolutely so grateful that I had the opportunity to. Finish with you. All today. I want to thank the man of the hour, and my friend and Isley. He lives the good life playing in the NHL for the New York Islanders yet. He still had the selflessness to take time out of his day and money out of its pocket to help organize a cancer awareness. Not only did he make an impression on Anders Lee. But FINA also became very close with Jamie Crimmins, the leader of the jam cancer. In the canned foundation, he even spent the day at the White House with President Barack Obama. Thanks in parts of the make a wish foundation. A boy. From New Jersey lips such an impact that Lee still keeps in contact with family. Speak with his mom every once in a while. Obviously extremely tough time. She has a really big support system to be part of. That's really means. A lot. Be there for her anytime is really special, and you know, we have a big obstacle ahead of us as as a Kan jam foundation Towner fee. Knob into to.

"It didn't work out for me. I was at a down spot for hockey and it was almost as if this is gonna sound just so ridiculous. Overbearing. It's almost hockey said hold on comeback, and here's we're going to give you an amazing year of hockey. We're going to give you the eighty seven candidate Cup, which is until that point, the best hockey ever saw my lighten. We're. Gonna give you the Easter epic, the Washington Capitals, New York Islanders fantastic game. We're going to give rendezvous. That's gonna be spectacular, and we're going to give you the flyers and the Oilers seven-game thriller Stanley Cup final it would that to me. And again, this is just by liberal arts degree that was hockey, pulling me back. That's why that one is always stuck with me. Eighty seven to me was the reason I'm probably still here here we are the season's about to start. I always sort of looked back and wait for wait for some of the shine to lessen and it never has hockey pulled me back. So to check out of all of it, everything in life. But at that point is like I'm done with hockey and pulled me back in its store. I was eighty seven for me. What do you expect this year in hockey? Well, this is always one of the most fun times of year for me is the beginning of hockey season like that first day is you know, the two doubleheaders Canadian double header. The US doubleheader. There's the banner raising a love, the banner raising one of the things I always. Look forward to and we saw it on Monday night was the rings being delivered to the team in the capital Gotham on Monday night and getting bigger and bigger. I remember when the penguins got their first one, so they won in two thousand nine. Like I'm talking about the first one generation not mareo so they came to Toronto, not long after they got the rings and somebody told me that their rings were value each one at twenty eight thousand dollars US. This is just gotta level dwarf that. Yeah, and the one thing I really like is that I think there's different caliber of rings, but everyone gets one like the employees get one. You know, I that for sure you get something, but those rings they're beautiful. So between the revealing of the rings, the banner ceremony, the Canadian double header. There's something about the the first day of hockey season. The regular season is one of my favorite days of the year, say something about the rings, would I be a bad hockey person said, I think he looked tacky, the bigger, the bigger they get the tack, your, they look like like griddles. Now these things are huge, actually thought the those ones were not that tacky looking. I look at it this way now to win is so hard. And if I was the Washington Capitals after everything I've been through, I would make something so big. I could wear it on my head. Stanley Cup hat Stanley, Stanley Cup ring hat like a golden ring hat. That's where it is like a net caller or something like that. I just think that team in that organization, if they wanna do something Godley, enormous and Godley they have earned the right to say we can do it. You know, it's the the lesson from the rocky movies, it's harder to stay on top to get their penguins of done. It lasts three cups of come from the metro penguins went back to back. Can the caps go back to back? Why not? Because this hard. It is hard, but when you look at their roster the they're good enough to do it to me. The biggest question is, are they satisfied. The penguins weren't satisfied. The second aren't and still aren't, and that's led by Crosby. Yeah, and I think Malkin's got some of that to all types of last week, and I was in Washington the second week of the season. I think it's Toronto Washington's we're doing a big piece on Ovechkin, and one of the things are said to him in the interview was nobody can question you anymore. No more losing no more penguins and you stop many looked at me and goes, you tell me what's the next question. Can you do it again, as I said, can you repeat? But I love that answer from him. I loved it. It's like he was saying, all know, I know there's going to be more..
