"new york giants" Discussed on Big Blue View

"View dot com multiple articles out there discussing twenty twenty one schedule and it's worth starting this conversation off by saying folks. Any thoughts on the schedule are a little bit arbitrary as you should probably expect because anything can change after week four or even further down the line with any of these teams. There's injuries teams ended up being worse than expected teams in the be better than expected. So these are overall thoughts leading into the season. Maybe what to expect. But you can't fully project this seventeen game season for the giants for really any team because there's so many different variables that are going to come into play but discussing our overall impressions guys. What do we think about this. Seventeen game scheduled the very first time that we are going to see seventeen games for the new york giants and for any nfl team and honestly. Actually let's go at this first one here that i think stands out to me. The giants are going to be playing the chiefs week. Eight on monday night. Football in that that stood out to me because it just seems odd that the giants were picked to be this match against the chiefs in primetime. When there might have been a different opponent that would have made a little bit more sense because they're opposite ends of the country. One team is a little bit further along than i think the giants are. It's just a little bit of an odd matchup for me. It's it is an odd matchup for me as well just because like you said. The giants haven't necessarily earned that right to be the team to be in prime time with the team like the kansas city chiefs like where the giants are. They won six games last year and the chiefs of the defending afc championship but overall impression. Wise i mean honestly. I feel much better about this schedule than i did about last year schedule. Especially when you look at the beginning of the schedule. I mean last year you opened up. Prime time against the pittsburgh steelers. That's really rough place to or as we know was home but that was a really rough opponent to go up against travel to chicago. Yacht san francisco and then you have to travel to the rams and need to travel to the cowboys. That was a really rough stretch for the giants and twenty twenty and look at the schedule now and chris. I wanna get your take on this as well mean you get denver. As long as aaron rodgers doesn't end up bone denver it's it's Drew lock against this new revitalize. Patrick graham defense. That's not necessarily something. That i was as a shoe win by any means. But it's definitely something that gives me a little bit. More comfort than at washington is a winnable game vs atlanta was somewhat of a rebuilding team but there are a little bit in flux right now. That's also a winnable game. I mean realistically the team could start three no before. They have to go to new orleans and then to douse which could be somewhat of a tough stretch their from week. Four to five. I don't want to count any chickens before they're hatched. I think i think recent history with the giants. Aw warns against that. I think we all thought they were gonna take a next step and just amazing in two thousand seventeen after the way they finished twenty sixteen and they went three thirteen that year. So i definitely want to stay away from Chicken counting right now. But you're right. The they start out with four is certainly three. Winnable games you know. I think we could realistically even put the saints in that position as well just because you know what are they without drew brees. That is a pretty massive shift for them in their franchise. Yeah obviously sean. Payton is offensive genius and just that dome in new orleans one hell of a home field advantage. But we just don't quite know what they're going to look like how they're going to make that transition especially in the first month of the season denver broncos like you said if they get aaron rodgers things to the calculus there changes considerably but as of right now. it's drew lock or teddy bridgewater. And i like teddy. Bridgewater pat shurmur. I think he's a good coordinator. They've got a good offense roster they still have players on their defense but that is a winnable game washington. They've been doing a good job of collecting talent. But what did they have it. The quarterback position if it's magic shows up again the calculus changes but if it's some combination of ryan fitzpatrick's beard kyle allen. If you can walk by then and tyler heineke. That should be a winnable game for the giants as well. I'm not gonna say these are shoo-in but they do have the chance to get off on the right foot this year. Heck i'd maybe even go all the way up to week seven. You could argue not all these games but these are all highly competitive matchups for the giants where you can't really say like. Oh while this team is significantly more put together than the giants because you talked about the broncos all the way through the saints but the cowboys. They looked terrible last year. I don't know if we can really guarantee just because dak prescott is coming back that they'll be good defensively this upcoming next season and we all remember remember how the giants played against them in both of their games before dako her they were playing them really closely and then suddenly a couple lucky plays. Help the cowboys in that matchup. But the rams that's going to be a difficult game that's going to be a really tough match-up matthew stafford. Their defense is phenomenal. Regardless of who is around aaron donald but the carolina. Panthers you go up to that week. Seven game where where. They're playing the panthers in october. Sam darnold might not really be that settled in a period of time when we're starting to ask ourselves. Is sam darnold going to be the starting quarterback for the rest of the season. That probably will be the case but if things are going awry after they traded for him. There's a chance things could be transitioning away from darnold as starting quarterback so i i honestly look up the week seven..

Patrick graham kyle allen ryan fitzpatrick aaron donald sam darnold Sam darnold tyler heineke new orleans six games seventeen games darnold october last year Seventeen game chicago four dako aaron rodgers atlanta panthers

"Starting pitching hasn't been bad. But, uh, I don't know what to think of some help in the bullpen this week to get Chris Martin back off the injured reserved and they signed green green. That'll give my a game a couple of weeks to get up to speed, but he was pretty good for them these last a year and a half. I think they got a mid season two years ago. Is he a midseason deadline? Right s so he was good for him for a year and a half. I'm not sure why They couldn't get this deal done earlier, but they got him for three quarters of the season, so their bullpen should get better and be improved. Yeah, I'm not sure when nobody signed you. Really? I'm glad he was still out there but anyway, yeah, right. So Yeah. I appreciate you checking in. Thanks, buddy. Think I said Bob in Atlanta because it was bobbing. Philadelphia Jr is in Atlanta. I'm gonna punch him up now on CBS Sports Radio. How are you? J. R. Yeah, it's actually Isaiah. But that's cool because it's something now every C. I just suddenly praises of my producer that he's a good dude, and he's very good at his job, and he's not a jerk. How he came up with J R when your name is actually Isaiah. That one. I don't know that I can't answer for No way. I'm not gonna hold that against a man. I could see his late God by been up all day. Just like me, but I don't know. No. Sometimes you can get Bob for Bill or James for John. You can't come up with J R out of Isaiah. I'm sorry that you didn't call me. I you see, I've got so many different ways way I would apologize if I called your audition and I punched you up and you sounded like Ugo. I would know for a fact this Well, this is not a Naish on the phone right now. Absolutely not. So, um I kind of just wanted to see what was the consistency in your industry about how the Falcons look because tell you what, man. Um, I really don't think there's bad that they've been playing the last three years. I think there's Been victimized by horrible coaching decisions. Um, just just Terrible player development, terrible scouting and drafting by Thomas to Mitch off, and I feel like I think the new coaching is going to make all the world of a difference. And many clues our quarterback play, but I didn't call to turn this into a conversation about him. I just want to know how you felt going into this season, because honestly, when you consider who they took from Notre Dame that that that that defensive end from Notre Dame, um And that guy from Texas. I personally think that they addressed the pass rush issue, and it's a little bit underrated, and that's one thing that's been a thorn in our side, really, since Matt Ryan got to the fact that he's never had a defense, and I also feel like, um, even without Julio Jones, because I think the writing's on the wall For Julio Jones. You got Calvin. Really? You got cow pitch now and you've got, um Russell Gates has been really good on third down and the bacon figure out that running back position and solidify the online. I really think the fastest are poised to make a run this year. Just just when you consider the fact that Dan Quinn alone was giving away two or three games by himself last year, not to mention just just defense was never would never show up. So just after this draft, and with the new coaster staff and whoever you know the whole the whole staff and every by the artist myth was able to put together what does the industry Think about the South is now going into I'm going to give you my opinion. I'm gonna answer your question with a question Help make the point. Um, I saw this stand Twitter and I give credit to whoever it was, but I forget so I apologize. Um, Who do you think? Is the NFL's old time leader for most yards in reception as a rookie tight end. But what I think is NFL leader for most yards per session as a rookie tight end. Yeah. Oh, my goodness. I got to be a fucking related question, Correct? No, it doesn't. Okay, well, I'll tell you, it has happened in the last 10 or 12 years, so that gives you a little bit of a timeframe to work with. Right off the top of my head and I consider myself a as a football avid pro football friend. I'm gonna say either Antonio Gates. Or L feel joy Kittel, and I'm probably way off All all decent gas is none of them. Correct. I'll give you another hint. Former Hurricane You want to be you? Oh, my goodness, Tiny and I went to the U. Oh, man, You got me man that the rookie record for 900 change yards playing for the New York Giants. Um, not shock. You Jeremy Shockey most yards in his rookie year ever as a tight end, I think it was like 925. Oh, I think I think I hope it will be re setting that record this year. Absolutely hope so, but, I mean, you called about the whole line. You know what I'm saying? Here is here is the one thing I think the Falcons had a good draft. I'm with you. I think they hired a good coach. I think things are looking up. And while I'm telling you, I don't think Matty Ice is done. I think he's coming back to the pack. I don't think you're ever going to see a 45 100 yards season out of him again. But he fell a damn good quarterback and Pittle keep him relevant. But two years from now, four years from now, six years from now you're gonna say Damn! We should have taken Justin Fields and you're not. You're not. You're not the only one who's going to say it. The Jets. The dark. Maybe the Dolphins of two isn't it's going to do all those teams that were between sandwich between Trevor Laurence and the Chicago Bears, who didn't take Justin Fields are gonna be looking back five years from now and said. Yeah, we got a nice player. But like the Falcons, I think Pitts is gonna be great. Yeah, but you might have been able to get the quarterback. I think that divided Smith with the Eagles, who were the pick right before he was selected are gonna love the fact that divide to Smith is gonna be great. But five years from now we're gonna be saying Damn, they sure have taken just appeals. I don't agree, man, because when you consider the top five quarterback the guys who were drafted top five at quarterback, and you consider their overall success throughout history, it's really not going that far. You find the gyms in the in the round 3 to 5. And so I ever honestly think we can get two more years out of math and probably take that kid from coastal Carolina and in a late round and watch him do some things in the league one. I like the fact that you've already got two succession plan laid out Good luck. We'll compare the guy from Cultural Carolina. Did Justin Field.

Final 2021 NFL Draft Quarterback Rankings: Trevor Lawrence and Then What?

"So guys let's start off with the quarterbacks as this is probably the least eventful group especially because we just let mark handle this position group. Because that is his forte his speciality. We don't even really need to go through the ordering or anything specific with this one as we're going to do it the other position groups but the thing that's worth noting is it. Mark was highly reluctant to really go past mack jones and then after thinking it over he threw in kellyn mind. Davis mills kyle. Trask jamie newman. And that was pretty much it so i think we can all agree here that the quarterback class in in this year's nfl draft isn't exactly very good on the back end. There's a lot of really good talent at the top but as we start to push towards the second and third round like we don't even have a third rounder in this group. There's not really a lot of good options now. It doesn't really tier that way. Joe obviously you have the tran said quote unquote time trevor. Lawrence. and then. There's a lot of debate on who that actual second quarterback would be adjusted sales from ohio. State zack wilson from byu. Mac from alabama. It seems like the jets. Presume that zack wilson from byu. And i mean. There's a lot of rumors that three the san francisco forty niners are really all in on mac jones but we'll find that out next thursday. It's gonna be interesting. I mean outside of the top five quarterbacks in legit all five of them could go for the giants would be ideal for the new york giants. That would be absolutely but outside of those five. It's it's kind of a crap shoot between callum on. I'll trask davis mills. Yeah i actually wasn't surprised to of see the look of pain almost on mark's face when he had to we almost twisted his arm into throwing out his like second and fourth round quarterbacks. This is a very top heavy quarterback draft class and part of that could just be the position. Where if you've got a quarterback who is able to be accommodated starter. He's probably going to be a first rounder and probably a high first

"We talk. Sports are a chris. Ready to hear what you got froze. Who are your picks. And let's hear a little bit of reasoning as well. Okay so i have to start by saying this was actually my second mock draft. I had to refresh the page after after about the third round. It was just going a little bit too. Predictably i i wasn't comfortable in the mainstream. I needed to get out on a branch. I always wind up out on one every box every drift season. I just had to get out there so first round eleventh overall i would. Jc horn cornerback at his south carolina. Second round was even collins linebacker out of tulsa third round got. I get to the offensive line. Josh meyers into your offense of lyman from ohio. State fourth-round marvyn wilson defensive tackle because this is the joins and we can't knock drafted defensive tackle at florida state route. Six ellison smith edge out of northern iowa and round six. I get a wide receiver. Austin watkins junior now just to go back through the top ten picks for me. I had five quarterbacks go mack. Jones went third overall. But i had mica parsons. Rashawn slater cayo pits and jomar chase makeup. Four of the other five picks in front of me so i was left with devante. Smith jalen waddell christian dera saw at virginia tech and patrick 'certain and jc horn. I went with horn. Because well i just really love his game. He had a really good pro day. Recently ran the four threes. He is one of the most physical corners. I have seen in a long time. So you get that speed you get that physicality and just downright nasty. Play demeanor watching his tape. The only thing i can come up with is stefan gilmore with a key to leaves attitude and i would kind of like that guy on my defense than saving collins again. He he is big six four sixty. He's got athleticism he's got explosiveness. He's got movement skills he could play off ball or you could line him up as an edge on occasion so kind of like a I'm not gonna say mike parsons. Light or poor. Man's mike parsons but a small school. Mike parsons josh meyers similar. To maybe a strictly interior version of sean slater. He's big strong very good center. He can also play the guard positions. He he is a people mover in the run game. And i think he can be a reliable pass. Protector either guard position. I think he's got enough scheme versatility. He could do pretty much whatever they want. As far as blocking schemes marvyn wilson. I think we had a guy like this where at one point he was a first rounder. And then just fell off. Well i went with that with marvyn wilson. He's got the size. The giants like in a defensive tackle. He's got those first round traits if they can unlock them that could give them some really high quality depth an eventual starter for fourth round pick. I couldn't pass it up and then six round eller smith. I really liked what i saw from him from the senior bowl. Good size good versatility. Good athlete he kind of jumped off the field in those practice. Sessions and austin watkins. I've just really liked watching him play very smooth for a bigger receiver. He's got pretty good speed. He's got the ability to stretch the field. He can win short with his route running good hands. I think he could give them some depth at really every receiver position and he could potentially develop into a star down the line. All right guys have at it. Walk ins call chris. I watched awesome walk ins film. And i was really impressed with a nuance that he had in his ability to kind of set up those vertical routes and win. Because he's not the best athlete. But i thought he also went down to the senior bowl and i had a low key protests. I've been loved that in the six round and the jc arms a little bit unconventional. We don't we. Don't see that everywhere. But chris your own man and you know what. Jc horn is an absolute stud. So i'm not gonna sit there and complain about that pick zaven collins like you said kind of a poor man's mike. Parsons had one real year of leap production in twenty twenty at tulsa love to see him blow up back in the nfl when the to pick him up coming on the blitz because he's like two hundred and sixty pounds. So i think that's an interesting selection as well loved the marvyn wilson edition. Josh meyers. interior. The blonde and played center at ohio state indefinitely. More than likely played guard. So i like that. And i'm big ellison smith man from the from what i saw at the senior bowl and just i mean analii saw his combine numbers will combine appropriate editors. They're absolutely ridiculous. A high upside edition as well. I just. i'm a little bit questionable on if he could play the run that well in the nfl. Situational pass rusher. that can definitely pressure on the quarterback. Yeah i really like eller smith too. I think that he's a guy that is. He's gonna playing way higher than the expectations. That i think some people might have for him. He's a physical freak so somebody's going to figure out a way for him to contribute. He's definitely going to outplay. That round six six round spot that he was selected in separate from addressing. Those other needs early on you. Get a good corner with jesse horn. Absolute huge fan of zaven collins is a great snag in the second round. Who might not even be available at the eleven th pick in the second round. He might be gone pretty early at the start of the second. But the marvyn wilson one just makes too much damn sense that i have to point it out and we keep joking about it but if we're being realistic if comes round four mr dave gettleman is taking marvyn wilson. I put your money down on it. Now go put your bets in. Call your bookie that is going to happen. If he's available. I agree i. I actually wouldn't rule it out of the third round or again christian bar more if he happens to be there in the second round. The giants edited yet another alabama connection so that that one of those two just has to happen and nick referenced. Ellison smith's produce numbers and i just happened to have them up. Forty one and a half inch vertical. Jump ten foot. Seven broad twenty six reps at two twenty five and a forty of four point six nine anna seventy seven second flat three cone drill now for a guy who's what six five to sixty ish those are like. You guys said physical freak numbers absolutely. I wanted to run something before we get out of your run something by both all right before. So the giants like in the past. And no ed's brought this up on the podcast.

marvyn wilson Mike parsons Forty Josh meyers stefan gilmore mike parsons florida sean slater second round jomar chase ten foot Jones Second round patrick ohio Smith fourth round eleven th pick Rashawn slater Four

"I mean he played tackle when liam aiken. Burt went down. He's not gonna tackle in the nfl but he can play either guard position and he's just a mammoth of a man. He's there at seventy six needed. Say it's a little bit redundant. But i believe you have to bolster this offense of nother pick that you could argue is a little bit. Redundant is jordan smith. But he's the edge from uab. Got him in the fourth round another great value. But i look at jordan. Smith and i see someone different than greg so yes. He's incredibly long. It has those similar type of measurable but jordan smith. I feel can operate in space a little bit. Better he can cover. He could drop to the boundary. He can do those types of things you can use them in a more creative fashion whereas gregory so might be more of a guy was just going to be attacking and you're not going to be dropping them into coverage as much so i see a little bit of a difference there and you're adding a lengthy athletic type of guy. Is it similar to cameron. I still would say probably know. They both long. Yes and that's something that can be incredibly valued than in the six round. I went with mere smith marquette. Who had talked to talk about a little bit. You joe really liked this edition as an explosive playmaker you can get the ball in his hands on jet sweep and design type of touches and you could still take top off defenses and then with the two hundred second pick went back to iowa and i took a lyric jackson. A guy owns a year and a half ago people remarking in the first round but he's just fallen because he didn't have a great twenty twenty. He's the left tackle at iowa who started at left tackle over tristan wharfs. He started for four years. They're so i really liked this edition as a developmental type of tactical. I believe this last year he actually went vegan and his play actually fell off. Now is our correlation there. It's hard to say. maybe but he's eating me. I didn't love what. I saw out the senior bowl but i still believe bringing him in at this juncture. The draft is a wise. Move guys roast. Me i'm not gonna roast you. I i think this is another pretty good draft. The only thing that i think i don't entirely agree with but i know that it's probably realistic knowing what dave gettleman likes to do where if there's positions that he wants to address he's gonna draft multiple players at that position. We've seen him do it more than once so for you to go double interior offensive line in double edge. I think that's possible for me. Also i don't think that it's a wrong approach. Because that's where they need to fix their positions of the most is those spots but I think that the gregory russ russo thing is pretty crazy but at the same time. I still think it's possible. I think that there's a chance that that does happen. Where some teams might be like. We didn't get to see him this year. He's still very very raw. And if that happens i don't see reason why the giants don't try to figure that out and trying to find a way to to get him to play up to a high level maybe not right away but in a few years and the other pick though that. I'm a really big fan of here. Is you getting aaron banks. I'm a big fan of aaron banks. That was covering notre dame football for a brief period of time with the lockdown podcast network. And i have to say that banks is one of the most underrated offensive linemen in this class. He's technically sound. He was highly rated by. Pf throughout the whole season for a reason the guy had a ton of accolades and he's just super consistent. He's not necessarily going to be in a league high level starter for a third round. Pick but i think that he's somebody who's good enough to plug in play early. He's somebody that's right now. With the giants need. Is that if you go rashaan slater and they decided to play him at guard and they also went arab banks. I i would immediately see both of those guys starting. I don't even think it would be whole a whole hell of a lot of competition because i think banks is consistent enough to do that. Yeah i really like aaron banks as well. The only question i have is. What do the giants want to their blocking scheme you know. Do they want to run a zone blocking scheme or they do. They want to go at the more straight ahead. Men gap smashmouth stuff. They showed in the second half twenty twenty. I really like airbags for just a power. Run game the only question. I have is whether or not the giants would do that if they want to do that. They've shown that they can do it if they have to do it. Then i actually do like the strategy of getting multiple offensive lineman just to you know. We don't know what's up with hernandez this could be his last season. We don't know if she and lemieux can play the right side or if he's going to be more than really just a run blocker if he can pass protect and be a reliable pass protector and then we don't really know what will happen with matt. Pair as he gets more reps be if he can become a reliable right tackle. So with this mock you are providing a solution at right guard and then back up plans for multiple questions. And i like that with gregory russo. Yeah i could see him. Falling out of the first route he could have a. He could go as high as the top. Ten or in a mild spoiler for my my mock draft. I actually had him sitting there in the third round so young. Who knows where he is going to go. He is that big multiple piece of clay. He is i would say he's athletic. But not explosive. I actually don't care whether or not he can be that versatile edge that we have been gravitating towards because i trust patrick graham to scheme him into the defense if he can only be a hand in the dirt. Seven or nine technique fine. You can work around that Todd bowles made jason pierre paul in chandler jones work in his multiple defense. Patrick graham can make gregory russo work if they believe in him. Yeah i i agree with that. Take to be honest. And honestly with the aaron banks. I mean giants lot of power gap last year. They were of do type of concepts and a lot of counter trey was basically their base running play since week. Five on so. I think aaron banks is a playside guard. And then if you insert rashawn slater as the backside guard. Who's gonna buck step in and pull and kick out the man. On the line of scrimmage. I mean that personally and i would just interject said bucket style. all right so chris we gotta get to years your mock draft next book before we do..

"But i question how effective he would be in that to capping. Roll over the nose. i know he was. He spelled there sometimes for dalvin tomlinson but on a consistent basis that would be like you said much cheaper but the effectiveness would obviously be a lot less than you have to weigh the pros and cons there. There's another name that just kind of came to my head and put it in the dock. Boorda malcolm butler. Who was just released by the tennessee. Titans may relationship with patrick. Graham and joe judge but we don't know how stable that relationship is because i mean he was benched during a super bowl for some off the field type of things that wasn't necessarily disclosed to the public. That could i guess you could say hinder or just affect how joe judge views him for For the teen in the culture but still being just because they have a previous relationship. It's name to bring up in the fact that giants kind of have a slight hole. Cornerback to right now and he could definitely compete with julian. Lovin isaac item. And just one more. That i again. What wasn't on my radar while we were in our more talking before we started recording at salomon. Thomas is coming off an injury. Yes but he's twenty five years old. He's hitting free agency. And i'm looking and spo track is actually only anticipating about a three year fifteen fifteen and a half million dollar contract for him. Now you know five million five and a half million a year is nothing to sneeze at but the type of player he is capable of being yet. That could be a very good value to look at now. I'm not sure if that falls in the medium or bargain bin tier. But you'd have to see what happens. You know with that injury. Solomon thomas he one of the Who went down metlife's turf when san francisco came and how to triage. It set outside metlife stadium. They all got hurt during that jets game but I think that's good. Call chris. I mean he kind of under wellness. I guess you could say. He was third overall selection. Back in twenty seventeen. Why not take a shot on some upside with a twenty five bureau coming off an interest and that might be the kind of thing the giants look at if they want to really play free agency this year so next week free agency is supposed to start in the middle of the week and as soon as that hits we will be doing. Some reaction shows how quickly we can get them out. Will figure out the proper pacing for that but this is basically all. We have for the previews. We'll see what ends up happening. "You could probably do worse than that. I also think to more receivers to throw in there would be keelan. Cole and david moore guy from the seattle seahawks who lost up there with tyler. Lockett decay metcalf. Now he's not going to be somebody who's just step in and be a number one receiver but it's just a quality football player. Who's young you can add at a discount price. You can come in and contribute for you. Both of them kind of fall into that category and i think that is kind of an important category to have keep stocks because the giants do love to churn over the back end of their roster they are constantly either signing or releasing or they're looking for the best possible guys for that bottom third of their roster and those guys do come in and contribute. We saw austin. Mac you know. Get some time on the field They have to do whatever they can to keep their special teams competitive. And you never know what's going to happen with injuries. Special teams seemingly is always going to be a priority with his team. Because of joe judge in the. It seems like that's the recurring joke. Here is that because of joe judge former special teams coordinator. There's always going to be an emphasis on quality team players that are going to go out there and bust their ass on special teams and compete for roster spots like that. I mean hell. Nate abner probably had no right being on the giants roster and had to play some safety but he stuck around because of his background as a special teams player. Hell i would not be shocked if there ends up being another signing of a similar style this upcoming free agency period. So that's a really good point that you bring up your chris their any final guys that we think that maybe we want to bring up before we wrap up. Today's show that maybe we didn't discuss as far as some of these cheaper guys. I know gabe jackson and richie incognito 's name as offensive guards. They've come up through giants twitter just because it's a little bit uncertain what's going on with the guard position as we flew to earlier in the show kevin zeitler going to be released. We actually trust a shame. Lemieux will hernandez combination going into the twenty twenty one season. I mean could navy be solid. Possibly but it's definitely something you'd want upgrade over so with the giants want to entertain that just mean aggressive type of mentality that both jackson and incognito more so incognito really kind of have i mean i think definitely interest me it does. Because you know with someone like richie. Incognito would probably wouldn't be a huge deal. The guys thirty eight years old been playing forever. He just loves to ball and he's going to bring that edge. That nick gates already has it will be really mean offense of line for daniel john. I would love to see that to be honest but we'll have to wait and see. I think those are just two interesting. Names i'm not sure we're jackson. Who used to be one of the best guards. Sure he's gauged right now in the nfl. Haven't watched too. Much of las. Vegas raiders tape but it seems like he's kind of taking a step back so could he be had on the discount. I guess we'll have to see. I'm not certain about it. But still a name to monitor and as we were talking before the show you also brought up. Dj fluker yup. Maybe the giants could say you know. We're sorry we let you go in the first place. How'd you like a new contract. That he's thirty is a genus dude. A et has told several times that he is the busily largest human being he has ever personally seen at least until. Dexter lawrence was drafted. So you never know what's gonna happen with guys like that after thirty but at least to this point pflueger can still run block. He is still just a warrior out there. And i know pretty much. Every writer who goes into that media room loved him. So that would at least be good public relations for the giants. Yeah i've heard a lot of great things about his character and he was on baltimore ravens this year one of the better running teams in the nfl and he was a starter for them. And there could be tied with joe judge from their time at alabama as well so there might be a connection there. I would welcome that with open arms so ultimately there are some interesting names and we we kind of created a good spectrum here per usual. We'll probably get shocked with some crazy name that we weren't expecting as has happened in the past under dave gettleman we will provide reaction of course during free agency. Once we know who the guys that have been signed are we additionally will be doing a defensive. Show coming out soon This week folks for tuning in be sure to hit. That subscribe button. Dallas Cowboys Reach Multi-Year Deal With Star Quarterback Dak Prescott

"Salary cabin number for two thousand and twenty one is going to be twenty two point two million dollars all right now. Head dak prescott. In franchise tag again this will happen in a procedural sense but had to cow tried to go at this with dak prescott on the franchise tag for the two thousand and twenty one season. We've talked about this a number of times. That value would have been thirty. Seven point seven million dollars so the fact that the cow is now have him onto the books. We're talking about the value that is on the books in the books. However you want to look at the books whether they're e books or physical books whatever the case may be that value is now twenty two point two million dollars now. I know that we have all said some things about the dallas cowboys but they are not complete dummies. They surely budgeted for the franchise tag value. Because let's be honest. They came about twenty four hours. We think you know. Close to having the actually placed the franchise tag and maybe carried out with that prescott. So the cowboys have room for the franchise tag at the very least so you look at that quake matt that adam schefter was kind enough to do for you. That is fifteen point. Five million dollars that the dallas cowboys suddenly have because they've got this long term deal with that prescott. This is something that we've been saying for two years now. If you do this you can. You can kick this down the road. You can prorate it you can extended you can whatever term you want to put on it. You can spread the impact of the deal out of the signing bonus of the overall guaranteed money out over the lives of the contract so it doesn't hit you all at once. That's the one killer about the franchise tag is that it is fully and completely guaranteed in franchise tag is a one year deal so the value of it last year and dak prescott was on the tag for thirty one point. Four million dollars. The two thousand twenty dallas cowboys had to absorb that value all at once and they would have had to have done it again. Here in two thousand and twenty one but because they have adjusted that they now have fifteen and a half million dollars that they were seemingly budgeting for dak prescott that now they can apply to different areas. Maybe it is a safety. Maybe it's a defensive end. Maybe it's a defensive tackle. Maybe it's you know an offensive tackle. But they want swing tackled death whatever the case may be. We know that the cowboys obviously hold the tenth overall. Pick in the draft. They could go a number of different directions there. They wanna cornerback kayla farther patrick's retain do wanna take one of the tackles and rashawn slater as all this is. This is setting up and this is an important thing. I want you to hear me here and watch me here. You cannot waste this money. If dallas cowboys the whole point and getting this done with thac prescott besides obviously establishing having the best player on your team for the foreseeable future the point in doing this is to alleviate the salary cap space now. And i don't like the term when now if you watch us often you know that but you look state of the nfc east. It is by sudha. I mean the philadelphia. Eagles are a disaster. The new york giants doping daniel jones is legitimate. The washington football team has a great team but is void of the most important position of the game and a quarterback. Maybe they'd get somebody this cycle as we all expect quarterbacks to change teams at a higher rate than usual but the case in point is at the dallas cowboys are now. We're going to see this all day on tuesday by the way and we'll talk about it of course but they're going to be overwhelming favorites to win the nfc streit and you think about the conference that they plan is really a contender in the nfc. And i mean that with all due respect to the reigning champion tampa bay buccaneers. But you've got the bucks you've got the green bay packers and then who scares you. May maybe the rams you believe in matthew stafford but the point is thinking about the afc. I mean the. Afc has the bills and the ravens and the chiefs and the titans and the steelers and the browns. I mean you could go. A number of different ways. Did the colts have carson. Wentz ends up getting his act together and so the cowboys play in the weakest division in the weaker conference and so now they have this opportunity to really kind of take their future in the here and now they have fifteen and a half million dollars that they weren't necessarily planning on having use it and if they don't use it it is all for not so i mean we are all imploring the dallas cowboys to ultimately use this salary cap space. This is a very very very luxurious gift. That they now have been afforded that they didn't previously have so shattered of course to the dallas cowboys. Let's see here let's move. I'm i wanna talk of course about the bonus the dak prescott because well. It's stupid large. I mean it's amazing. Dak prescott has now the largest signing bonus in the nfl. You look at joe flacco. Once upon a time. Got forty million. Dollars matt ryan forty six and a half. Remember if you're on the fence about this value. We've talked about this before as well. Matt ryan became the first quarterback in nfl history to average over. He had thirty but to average at least thirty million dollars per year with his new contract that he signed with the atlanta falcons in two thousand and eighteen. That was three years ago. Dak prescott signed a four six year. Deal whatever you wanna call it. That was three years ago. They matt ryan signed that he was the first quarterback to hit the thirty million dollars a year. Mark prescott just hit forty but the reality and we've been saying this forever is that there are so many deals coming around the bend. Josh allens gotta get paid. Lamar jackson's gotta get paid. Baker mayfield's got to get paid extra calories. He's going to get paid the year after that. It's going to be time for joe burrow to finally get paid and when all of those players get paid this forty million dollars a year. Mark the dak prescott got this one hundred twenty six million dollar. Total guaranteed is sixty six million dollar signing bonus all these things that are currently the top of the nfl. The most in nfl history. That's the verbiage in determining that you're hearing associated with this and it's all literally true but it's all going to get pushed down because all of these players on this list. Joe flacco matt ryan matthew stafford at fifty million signing bonus. Aaron rodgers fifty. Seven and a half russell wilson not going to be a dallas cowboy now by the way sixty five million dollars. Dak prescott topped that all of these quarterbacks in all likelihood we'll top that that's the reality of the nfl things are always moving in one direction. It is up

"You're never compromise drink responsibly. Let's talk about projecting the future in the first point that i want to bring up here. This position group. I feel has to be one of the top priorities during free agency. I don't know where you mix it in there but it has to be for me top three s to be one of the top three that you're going to try and fix during this offseason period either in free agency or either in the draft and if you're ultimately in a situation where dalvin tomlinson or leonard williams walk or heck if maybe you mismanaged this enough in both of them end up leaving. The money needs to be spent on edge. Because there's talent along the defensive line. But i think if you spend that money or the draft or specific to free agency if you go and spend that money could be well worth it bolstering your pass rush with an already pretty good secondary absolutely this is i would rank it as a top two physician need for the giants if basically for me it's edge and wide receiver. Those are the two positions. They absolutely need to get fixed. This offseason the giants do not spend on tomlinson. End williams. Berlin or leonard williams. They do need to go out and get themselves a pass. Rusher they have dealt jp away. He has been really great down in tampa bay. They dealt olivier vernon away. He never really lived up to his co. he was still pretty good. When myles garrett was out in the draft they passed on bradley chubb. They passed on josh allen the linebacker and they passed on montez sweat. They they have really allowed that void developed and they need to fill it. That's a cornerstone position for a reason. Absolutely and you look at some of these free agents. If they don't end up retaining dalvin tomlinson and save. Bring back leonard williams. Are they gonna want. Allocate money to someone like a leonard floyd or a unique in gakugei. And you have guys like matt donostia product of wink martindale system down in baltimore. I think he could translate to patrick rams system. He's a very skilled labor smaller school. He's twenty nine years old now though am also open to bringing someone like tyler factual backs. I felt like he fit into graham scheme and executed. He wanted to do at a solid bubble and he was had on the cheap and with the cat. going down. this year's not anybody's going to be breaking the bank for kyle will. Yeah that's a. That's a really good point and this leads into talking about some free agents that can work and it's a little bit tough right now to project. What the giants are going to do. Because we don't know if they're going to cut anyone. And i think if they do cut some of these offensive lineman it does clear up some space for them to pursue a maybe a more expensive pass rusher or just pursue pass rusher in general in free agency. But i love those names that you mentioned here particularly cuyler fakher who is not going to be expensive to bring back but is that a situation where you bring that kyle factual and then do you try to. Maybe signed somebody else like. There's there might be multiple ways to go about this but there are some interesting names. That might not be crazy expensive because just hearing how people are talking about what to expect for this free agency. There might be some guys that don't have an offer that they're looking for in similar to what happened with logan ryan. If they just wait it out they might be able to sign somebody. That's really good for a one year deal. That's looking for a deal until they can get to the next step the next team. Yeah the the name. I keep going back to his assan. Radic just a. I really liked him at temple. you know. The giants were watching when he basically destroyed them when they played the cardinals. And i think he also has that kind of really versatile skill set where the nfl truck the cardinals. The nfl tried moving inside linebacker off ball linebacker. And he can sort of do that. He does have the athleticism to play in space but he is really at his best. Going downhill rushing the passer. And he's got that athleticism that speed rush the giants. Just do not have so all that makes me think they could name to keep an eye on yet. I think if someone who's even cheaper. I really liked that. Call chris but some lose even a little bit. Cheaper is tunnel passing inyo from the kansas city chiefs. And it's not like he's done a whole lot in the league. But i think this coaching separately values length and versatility and special teams. And i think he would be a solid addition who will definitely be had on the cheap. Maybe even some like doin' smoot coming out of jacksonville. I think he was a kid from illinois a couple years back and it was drafted like the third round or something like that. I remember he was. He was yet solid college tape. And i haven't really kept up with what he's done in the league. That's just another option is probably going to be had a cheap. That can bolster this giants. And it's just kind of unfortunate that we can't look at like Do pre or shaq barrett. Their price tags are going to be just way too high. Even if the giants make a lot of cuts and even some difficult cuts now. Those guys would be great. I think they're the ones the giant probably should be targeting. But there's just not going to be able to yeah. This is not going to be an off season. Where they're going to be able to sign a guy like that which is unfortunate because if they had the room and things were in a an perfect spot for them they could very well go from a strong defense to really really good one. If you throw shaq barrett in there. I would argue the pass rush in the in the front seven would be pretty formidable..

leonard williams dalvin tomlinson chris kyle will josh allen bradley chubb olivier vernon matt donostia one year third round tomlinson illinois gakugei jacksonville cuyler fakher both myles garrett Radic two positions this year

Marty Schottenheimer, NFL coach with 200 wins, dies at 77

"So james some sad news in the nfl coaching world. If you're of a certain vintage you'll remember the name marty schottenheimer. He was a coach starting with the new york giants back in seventy five when he was their linebackers coach and kept coaching right up until two thousand six with the san diego chargers. He was a head coach in kansas city. Washington san diego. But i remember most with cleveland browns head coach in the mid eighties for them when they got. Oh so close to a super bowl. Berth in the afc title game. They're about to beat denver. They're about to go in for the winning touchdown in the final minute of the game and earnest byner get stripped just as he's about to step into the end zone offload jeremiah casteel. Dist reached in grabbed the ball off byner denver recovers and they hold on for thirty eight to thirty three win. And that was. It's called the fumble. If you say that in cleveland people know the fumble ohio and The brown had no shortage in sports of disappointments. So that would be one of them. When you say the fumble people know exactly what you're talking about and really gives until the cavaliers finally when an nba title really lent itself to the lovable loser. Tag that cleveland. Sports fans have had for many years but marty schottenheimer Certainly had lots and lots of success. I think he was like fourth all time as far as coaching winds. Go so sad news to hear his passing today at the age of seventy

"There's young is in the group. Maybe zeitler doesn't return. You're possibly getting back nate solar. There's a lot of mixed pieces in here. But regardless i think the offensive line performance as it should always be with when talking about running backs is going to be really key here that is going to be most important and right now they're trending upwards they have the momentum from this final stretch heading into twenty twenty one. The office of line is huge. Nothing chris brings a valid point about saquon barkley in his propensity to bounce it outside. But i do feel this power gap when there is a design hole in your say kwanza. Smart guy. you look. You're going to hit the five hole. You're going to go off the back of the of the guard. Or what have you whatever. Whatever it is he can do that. And then once he gets past that if those blocks do materialize which. i think. We're all confident that this office of line is taken strives to wear. Those blocks can be their most the time once he gets that second level. That's where it gets incredibly dangerous. And that's where i'm really excited but barkley that's always been an issue. His i mean he played a penn state where they blind in the on the majority of the times and he ran out of the shock. On which is something that we saw daniel jones and jason garrett this year i think that definitely benefited them as well something that he had a lot of success with at the college level but he has to be a little bit more decisive. That's always been an issue for saquon. It has since i just can. Contrast is absolutely not weighing almonds issue. He is. I think there is an argument to be made that he is the most decisive most efficient running back in the nfl. He spends basically no time. Behind the line of scrimmage and we saw that in the last game where he gets playing so fast that i fumble it worked against him where he was already trying to hit the whole. Before you even had the ball secured for the most part that worked really well because he didn't have to wait all that long for flocks materialize. He could get to the whole as it was opening before defenders had a chance to come up phil and he would always have momentum to pick up three four sometimes five yards with about the same number of defenders on his back. And just something i noticed. Is that if you look at a nfl. Nexgen stats at the most efficient running backs in the league. Wing almond is number is tops in the league but then the backs behind him a ronald jones ii tampa bay gus edwards at baltimore. Jk dobbins out of baltimore. Latavius murray out of new orleans. David johnson out of houston devante booker of las vegas. Not layoff teams. But then you nick chubb in cleveland. Aaron jones green bay. Myles gaskin miami jonathan taylor in indiana miles sanders. Derrick henry down in tennessee. Those are all running backs on your really good playoff-caliber teams and they all have that one thing in common where they don't waste time. Behind the line of scrimmage they hit the whole hard and they hit it fast. yeah wing goldman. I think overall this is a really good takeaway to open up into now here and this is what you're definitely getting at. Chris is that goldman was an unexpected top performer for that final stretch of games and what we touched upon a little bit. During the quarterback show is being able to run. The football effectively. Became the identity of this offense. It was a lot put on. How well they ran the football in the best games in the games that they were because they had really good rushing performances and the big surprise that comes out of this is going goldman a relatively underperforming guy in his first few years in the league. He's in a contract year. Any steps in takes over the loaded carries despite them bringing in devante freeman who inevitably gets hurt pretty quickly. He steps in and he takes over the lion's share of carries in a bunch of these games. He has really really good games. Not necessarily a hundred yard rushing game every single game but when you brought them in in these goal line situations he was able to to hit. Pater get those touchdowns. Pick up the tough yardage a like. I already mentioned earlier. Not exactly the most dynamic and explosive guy. but he's just consistent he he was not the almost polar opposite of what we're used to seeing. What saquon where saquon will lose yards on one play and then pick up fifteen another instead. It was goldman for three or four yards and then when the whole opened up pick up ten but that was really the that was the cap of what we were going to get with wing almond. It's good to have that it's consistent but it's not explosive to a point where you can really buy into that as a long term solution. Yeah i think that's fair wing allman. I mean this year. He averaged about four point. Six yards per carry had six hundred and eighty two yards on the ground with one hundred and forty seven carries and six touchdowns like you said that four point six kind of at a good number to have no doubt but we saw wing on when he did get an edge and broke into the secondary and had square path towards the end zone. He gets tracked down by jamal adams quick and very good defender for sure. But he's not one of those home run type of players. But i still think what. He gives this roster. If it's if the money is right. I mean i think a lot of giant fans would love to have wing comes back. I would definitely be one of them. I you know. I think we'll get into after the commercial break. The brass tacks that side of things. But i think goeman does give you a lot of what. You're ideally looking for from a running back explosiveness but consistency the ability to stay on schedule as an offense to stay ahead of the change. That's what he brought clemson and he was finally able to play like that. You know the the areas where i think the running game is most necessary yet most useful. It's best way to try to advance. The football is short yardage and in the red zone and those are the areas where allman excelled we saw. He was very difficult to stop short yardage situations yet because he would hit the whole so hard and you'd have so much momentum and i don't know what that dude squats but it wouldn't surprise me if he was getting close to four digits because he could carry pretty much anybody the defense threw at him and then in the red zone. You'd say yet six touchdowns all six came in the red zone less than twenty yards out and he only had nineteen red zone carey's last year so that's basically a touchdown every three carries that is honestly really pretty. Impressive are now. We're going to transition are focused to discussing our expectations for the offseason. Before we do folks. We're just going to take a short commercial break the.

"Talking running backs which is a really interesting group to discuss. Because you have an ultra talented guy like saquon barkley leading. The way could have had a fantastic year but his season is cut short just after a game and a few carries with acl injury against the chicago. Bears win gelman then stepped up midway through the year. Finish the year strong and that leaves us with the perplexing question of does he stay. Does he go. What is the role going to be for both of these guys guys. Let's open things up here. Start talking and the one thing. I wanted to address here. I is will saquon barkley coming back in two thousand twenty one one lead to success running the football but the other thing too is. Are we going to see the same type of scheme that we saw in the second half year where it was a lot of inside rushing plays. Maybe that stuff changes nikola tesa- you first. What do you think. Do you think saquon is going to be coming back and and just as productive as goldman and things might be a little bit different though i think just the addition of saquon barkley explosiveness and his ability to generate explosive. Plays which was one of the many achilles heels of this giants. Offense will really help the twenty twenty one giants. I do feel if jason garrett his back still going to be power gap. It's going to be similar types of concepts which i actually kind of work to the benefit of saquon barkley barkley in the inside. Zona pat shurmur vision. Wasn't his his best trait. I think is safe to say and he really had that many chances because defense is keying on him. There's no doubt about that either. I think in this power gap scheme which is incredibly physical where he has a one designed whole that he's going to hit now you can always cut it back if another whole materializes but you're really focused on that one whole i think his explosive ability and second gear are really going to work wonders especially when he gets into that whole. And there's one defender that allie defend are coming down hill and it's the safety coming with momentum against saquon barkley in his agility lateral ability quickness. I think that could really help. Saquon barkley just have more. Explosive plays in that type of running scheme. I'm actually curious to see you guys agree with me. I'm excited to see him. I was excited to see him in that scheme. Because we thought there would be more power gap with jason garrett coming over in that ended up happening we saw that first dallas game the roll out with a bunch of counters and they and they just hit dallas counter counter counter and devante freeman. Did a really good job. If i think that that was guam barkley it would have been. It would have been something. And i'm willing to say. I don't think this is a heartache. By any means but if saquon barkley never gets injured i think the giants win this division. And it's easy. I think all those really close games could be flipped by one cow. Play from saquon barkley which we've seen through the years at something that he's really capable of doing so i really i'm excited for him in this offense. Yeah i think that could happen but it would have to take barkley really buying into being a one cut downhill runner which has never really been his game. Even going back to penn state. He was always really an improvisational runner. At least in my eyes kind of was just Is almost like the robin williams of running backs where you give him the wall and then you just kind of see what happened out. Obviously the running game between pat shurmur and jason garrett is very different very different blocking schemes. But he would always seemed to be a guy who was looking for the better whole he would dance around. Behind the line of scrimmage trying to make five different guys miss rather than picking up with. What was there for him. He always trying to hit that home run and granted plenty of times that did work out but then he also would get caught. Behind the line of scrimmage wind up running backwards or have a phenomenal twenty yard. Run for a one yard gain. So yeah i really does have to commit to waiting for the block. The blocks to establish and following his blockers and hitting that one whole and using all that explosiveness overall nick. I'm on the same page as you. Though i. I do really see that. There's no reason to change up the scheme in the approach when you realize that there could be good success with the guy that's far less dynamic in wayne goldman. Goldman did a great job. But i think we can all agree here. Kalman's nowhere near the same level of explosive running back. That saquon barkley is. That shouldn't be a hot take. I also agree with the sentiment that if you have the whole year a couple of gigantic run plays like sixty yard. Rush plays fifty forty yard rush place. That's enough to win your division in some of these close games. Where were they lost early on in the year but the big thing talking about why what we saw for the second half and what was emphasized in the run game. I think a lot of that success just came from the offensive line being a little bit more consistent a little bit more bought in and more capable of running that power gap scheme. It was a lot less issues than what we saw. In those first two games against the bears in the steelers there were no rushing lanes. There was nowhere to run. The football daniel jones was asked to do way more than he's capable of doing in those first two games and that is what ultimately led to a lot of problems. But now after having that final stretch of games under your belt you you can now see that they're capable of doing that on a consistent basis..

"Already have that guy in sterling shepherd said that i think it's going to be a very interesting evaluation and now to tacoma also help us illustrate this pick. I'd like to turn to the direction of who to expect not to be there because when we started this early phase an even when we get to the draft will probably do a similar style show of just straight up talking about what to expect once for a few weeks away. Who were the names that are going to be the most inclined in this spot. You have to consider who again is not going to be there because a lot of fans might be thinking like. Oh we can get mike. Parsons or dramatic chase but those guys are likely going to be gone by this point. It's not a foregone conclusion to guys like that did not play this season so there could be some slight sliding on their part. Because we don't know how. Nfl teams are valuing players. Who chose to opt out. But the two big names for me. That were originally considered on the giants radar. That just will not be there at eleven. Are mike parsons. A linebacker from penn state and jomar chase of the wide receiver from lsu. I just don't see either of them being the picture because there's going to be a few hungry teams particularly the eagles. The eagles are gonna want either of these guys to fix their problems. So expect either of them to be in play for just at six piccolo. Not to mention a number of other teams. That are before the giants. Yeah certainly the the eagles and the cowboys you could. I could see either one of them taking either one of these guys. Well maybe not dramatic chase are. The cowboys are already pretty well set at wide receiver but both of those teams could also cut into the the cornerback. Class we were just talking about. I agree it's very unlikely that either one of those players falls. It could depend on. Just how the nfl is looking at them for opting out. You know if for some reason. We don't get the normal while not for some reason if we don't get the nfl scouting combine if the pro day circuit is winds up being like last year. Where the scouting department's just are not able to get on the road. Teams could shy away from these guys who don't have that year of tape and that could cause them to fall but it is unlikely it in a normal year. There's absolutely no chance these guys are there this year i would say there is a very slim outside chance that hopefully maybe fault you for crossing your fingers in just one other name. I want to bring up just to get people aware of and maybe start. Getting familiar with is texas linebacker edge. Joseph asai there. I think he is a very good candidate to be draft process riser. He does have this year he has some really good tape he could kind of be like a maybe not a poor man's version of mike. Parsons but a middle class. Upper middle class michael part. Mike parsons where he has that ability to space but he also has a lot of explosiveness. A lot of bendon burst coming off the edge and it's possible he could wind up being the first edge off the board. You even more even potentially jumping ahead of gregory so or quitting pay out of michigan. Yeah the other thing with the cy. Another player who is draft stock is probably going to be a swinging pendulum based on tests and all that good stuff he actually could be a name that you could see in the second round for the giants to just based on what how things pan out. How early some of these players heck you could have gregory russo fall until possibly the you know. The twenties ended the the low teens early twenties. And if something like that happens that is probably gonna lead to some of these other edge rushers to slide a little bit of quitting. Pay michael a little bit later. Josephus again guy might go a little bit later than people expect so a name to be aware of because there could be some interesting options. Come day tune when you have that eleventh pick. You're going to be able to possibly grab a guy that you have a first great on similar to what happened. With xavier mckinney this past draft and the last thing before we transition are focused talking about the whole landscape of the draft. It's also worth mentioning. Expect a lot of the top ten to be quarterbacks there are going to be four guys that will probably come off the board. there are going to be trades. Any mock draft you read right now is going to be impossible to predict what the final outcome is actually going to be. Because after justin fields and trevor lawrence go teams are going to be flying up boards trying to make a crazy move to fix their current quarterback issues. And even if that's only going from like a eighth or ninth pick up to four or three they're going to be teams that are desperate to do because they want to resolve their situation and if they're even the slightest bit sold on a guy like wars wilson. They're going to do whatever they can to put themselves in a successful position to select a guy like that. Yes absolutely i. It is theoretically possible that the giants could be one of those players are one of those teams. That is in a trait now. It's never happened before. At least not. With dave gettleman. It's exceedingly unlikely. But it is possible that maybe a team like new england maybe once decided to trade up to get trae lance if he happens to be there or exact wilson Maybe minnesota who they might want to start grooming a successor to kirk cousins. This draft is going to be very difficult to predict difficult to predict. Is the perfect way to describe it just based on what we have all the moving pieces all the possible teams. That are now interested in quarterbacks. Coming up we're going to discuss the general overview of the class and what to expect at various position groups support for this podcast comes.

"In your secondary opposite of james bradberry yeah. I'm actually right there with you. I think 'certain will be the first cornerback selected simply because he had. He has the most tape this year. He had a very good year. he's very highly regarded. That being said i think horn has legitimate chance of being the best corner to come out of this draft class. It kind of reminds me going back. A few years. With i believe it was a mo- clayborn end. Stephon gilmore clayborn was really highly regarded coming out of lsu but gilmore was the one who became the better cornerback. And maybe that's just because jason horn reminds me so much of stephon gilmore. He's got that super aggressive super physical game about him and honestly his head sued reminds me a lot of a keep to leave another really good corner caleb farley. He does have some work to do. But i think any one of these guys would be an improvement and really help kick the giants defense up to another level. Of course there's also the chance they could go for linebacker finally to the Say delight of a lot of long suffering giants fans who maybe have never seen them draft a linebacker on in the first round even the first two days of the draft yeah. I'm really hoping this might be one of the years where they consider taking a linebacker because on the board for them right here a jeremiah. Core amoah is very talented. Somebody who has a serious riser over the past few weeks. It's a little bit early for nick. Bolton for me. I think he'll probably be a late first round early second guy but cormo is a it guy as we highlight highlighted him. He can move around. he's gonna play. That rover position is gonna play on the outside. He can cover guys not necessarily a pass rusher. But just a fantastic athletic movable peace and you can also lump gregory russo in the mix of other non defensive back guys that are likely going to be talked about in this position. Russo who we highlighted as being a possible top five pick as been passed up a little bit by some other guys that benefited from playing this season. But the miami edge rusher has a lot of raw talent that eleven spot for me makes a ton of sense and i think some team. Maybe it's the giants are going to buy and say this guy's not ready to play at a high level right now but if we can just work with him and work towards playing more of a standup role because that's the big thing here is that he has traits and he's not necessarily locked into a set style of pass rusher that you could realistically mold in work with a guy like gregory russo to fit with patrick. Graham and joe judge juan as an outside linebacker the way that we see lorenzo carter and cuyler they could turn gregory russo into that type of player. Yeah in fact. I think you could go even a step further with russo. If you really like his traits if you fall in love with his traits and you're very confident in your ability to teach him and coach him up and get him ready to play at the nfl level. You could look at him as a potential jason pierre paul slash chandler jones type player yet. He does share traits with both those guys. He's athletic. He's flexible for his size Almost ridiculously long and those guys. They were looked at as strict. Four three defensive end hand in the dirt every play type guys but both of them have made a very good. Almost seamless transition to a three four based multiple defense and both have Have continued to be extremely disruptive playing in that defensive scheme. And if you believe in greg russo. I don't believe there's a reason why he couldn't play in the giants defense especially with a guy like patrick graham scheming it up for him now in the chance that they decide to not go defense which would be understandable if they decide to take the free agency route again in fixing up defense and maybe signing some guys that patrick graham and joe judge are familiar with they could go down the offensive route. And i think it's pretty simple to discuss the The offensive implications on this pick. Because it's very very very very likely going to be a wide receiver. There's really not any other position group. That i can envision at the eleventh pick that they would target and it's also a matter of who is still available. Jalen waddell is going to be a really talked about name at this pick. Devante smith is going to be highly talked about player at this pick. If smith slides out of the top ten. I would be willing to bet that the giants would snatch him up in a heartbeat based on what he was able to do at the college level. Win the heisman which is rare for a receiver all the things that he did. I think the giants would go absolutely crazy. If domon devante smith was still on the board and then the last that comes into play here kyle pits. That all depends on how the giants value him. Most teams are probably gonna valium as tight. End some teams valium straight up as an offensive weapon and others might say that this guys are receiver. this guy's just a really really big receiver. We don't want him playing with his hand in the dirty more. There's a number of ways that we can go but right now it just seems like pits is probably going to be viewed more as a darren waller than he is considered to be a mike evans. Big receiver yet. We talked about this. When we did our scouting report on pitt's personally i view him as a receiver. I look at him. I see mike evans. Or plaxico burress Just a guy with a catch radius where you have to alert low flying aircraft that that dude on the field and he runs route like a wide receiver. You if there's a lot of wide receivers who just do not have his ability to sing his hips stick a foot in the ground and cut and really beat defensive backs he beat. Jc horn with his route running ability. That is just rare for a player. But actually that's rare for any wide receiver but especially one who would be six foot six two hundred and forty pounds but yet devante smith j. water. We've also talked about both of those guys. Waddell would give the giants that explosive elements to their passing. Game they just do not have an devante smith yet. He was super productive. He incredibly productive for alabama the these past two years yet. The question with him. I think is do you believe that he can play and win on the outside in the nfl weakened weak outplay. In play out if you do and he's happens somehow happens to be sitting there at eleven. You take him however if you think he's he is more of a golden tate type player coming out of notre dame as a guy who really would really thrives in the slot and does his best work in space after the catch earns screens..

james bradberry patrick graham Jalen waddell patrick joe stephon gilmore Graham caleb farley jason gilmore russo smith Russo lorenzo carter eleventh pick gregory russo greg russo Waddell first round kyle pits

"Route concepts i guess you can say from jason garrett. I mean look at that arizona game you talking about separation. Arizona was playing press man and there was no separation from the giants receivers and they weren't necessarily help out too much by the play calls when you run out there and run a ton of space and concepts against that press man. You're probably not going to get open even if you are a more talented type of wide receiver. So i think jason garrett needs to do a better job as well maximizing the yards after catch from certain types of receivers but i also believe no doubt that the giants need to add a wide receiver I think that has always been part of jason garrett. Mo as a as a playcaller he seems to like those isolation routes and he doesn't go into scheming guys open with route concept nearly as much as pat shurmur to just for a recent example but yet a third voice i. We've all been pretty consistent on this. The giants need a real true number one wide receiver preferably an ex who can allow sterling shepherd to get into the living in the slot. Which is where. He's the basler darius slayton play to his strengths. And that will also open up that running game and really just help out everybody else on the offense but this is quarterback show right right. We don't wanna get too bogged down on that and we're actually. I'm going to touch on that. I think that's something that we need to talk about with some future expectations. What we think is going to happen during the offseason for this quarterback group but chris what is your takeaway from this season. What did you notice really stood out to you. The most from this quarterback group daniel jones colt mccoy either one. Yeah i think just across the board. The giants need a little bit more down to down consistency from their quarterback group. Coming up. now that there's a bunch of reasons why didn't get that consistency. I've blocking issues to start the season. The separation issues we talked about with the wide receivers. The offense constantly playing behind the chains before they got the running game going with the mouth concepts wayne gaughman and also just inconsistencies from the passengers themselves for the most part daniel jones simply because he played the most Colt mccoy has his issues as a quarterback. But unless things go terribly wrong you're not counting on him as your starter in general. You don't want to see him on the field. I've seen similar things from daniel jones as well. But there were flashes of daniel jones that i feel like give me reason to believe that he can be the future. And i'm sure you would agree. Has chris yeah. that is one of. I think the most confounding things about jones's game is that you can see him. Miss a wide receiver by two or three yards. Throwing out by the sideline but then he will make a great. Throw down the middle like that The touchdown to dante pettis at the end of the season. So i think what the giants need is to see a lot more of those flashes in a lot less of the ono where he's you know maybe placing the ball behind the receiver. Overthrowing the receiver. Where the past might look pretty but it isn't particularly catchable. I would agree with that. I think your and we saw that going to be the beginning of the season when he was helping them towards the end of the season. A lot of excuses about some of his throws. and maybe like that. One too sterling. Shepard on the sideline was that a daniel jones under throwing it. Or was that sterling. Shepard possibly not breaking the right row. It's kind of undetermined. We're not really sure. But you're right throughout the season. I feel like there are also times. Daniel jones misses opportunities. No marks go kind of highlights throughout a lot of his posts. And it's not anything regis but it's just leaving. Plays on the field which i feel like daniel jones does sometimes now with that said i believe daniel jones showed a lot of progression in some key areas. I thought he went through his progressions a lot. Better this season kind of not locking onto one target as much. There were some games where he did that. But i felt like holistically throughout the entire season. If you kind of look at everything. I felt like he progressed. In that area. I thought he progressed in maneuvering the pocket and i thought he progressing getting rid of the football when somebody's bearing down on top of him and those are all key parts that make me feel more comfortable about daniel jones now. The statistics don't bear it out. I mean he didn't have a great statistical season through eleven touchdowns. Okay ten interceptions. That's not that great especially when you look at his season the year before where he had much more touchdowns. But i still a you. Look at the stats. You look at play. I still come away feeling. I wanna see you guys both great feeling that he can be a player that you can win with. I don't think he's ever going to be the type of quarterback deshaun watson or even somebody like justin herber who's younger than him. Who can just put the team on his back and and win it for you. I think he's a player that you can win with. And i don't think he's necessarily quote unquote a game manager. But i do believe that the giants can build around him and they can have success. I even put that in the notes. Before you hopped in your. I ended up taking it out. But i one hundred percent agree with that. I don't think that daniel jones is gonna be that hero ball type of guy that is going to win you. Football games just strictly by his performance alone if the offensive line's not performing if his receivers aren't helping him. Maybe the run games now working. He's just not going to be one of those guys. I think the better comparison for his impact in. It's one that we brought up over. The middle of the season was a daniel. Jones should work. Wanna work towards being like ryan tannehill in his second wave with the tennessee. Titans ten ten heels won the titans football game. He's also benefiting from derrick henry in a really good offensive line in a crazy. Good run game but if you just look at the mix and the dynamic of that team he's going to be able to step in and have a similar impact. One hundred percent agree with you though that we are starting to see those flashes and there is a clear progression at the end of the season which got screwed up by two leg injuries that slowed him down. I'm completely throwing out the arizona cardinals game. I can't take that game too seriously. Because he could barely move in the offensive line. Played like crap but the cowboys game for me. I thought that that was a pretty clear example of what we hoped he would do..

justin herber deshaun watson jason garrett daniel jones Daniel jones ryan tannehill two jones three yards Jones darius slayton wayne gaughman Shepard eleven touchdowns Titans Arizona one target dante pettis One hundred percent both

Dallas Cowboys fire defensive coordinator Mike Nolan and defensive line coach Jim Tomsula

"Do have some breaking news on friday afternoon. The first friday after the dallas cowboys season ended an unfortunate start the new year for their staff. That dallas cowboys. Making some you know some obvious news in a bit of surprise news the dallas cowboys announcing that defensive coordinator. Mike nolan defensive. Line coach jim. Tom soula have been let go. Have been whatever you wanna call it fire to buy the team. They will not be back in two thousand and twenty one. Mike nolan obviously oversaw. One of the worst defenses to ever live ever played in the nfl. And so we'd heard. Rumblings obviously had been reported different instances over kind of the last month that it was likely he was not going to be back although mike nolan. If you're somehow unaware is is rather chummy with mike mccarthy dallas cowboys head coach mike mccarthy they go way back in case. You forgot mike. Nolan was the head coach of the san francisco. Forty niners in two thousand and five and mike mccarthy offensive corner at the time that was of course the year. The forty niners took alex smith with a number one overall pick. Ironically the quarterback that won the division that they were together here. This season with the dallas cowboys. Jim thome soula was a head coach of the forty niners at one point in time himself albeit for only a year obviously following in the footsteps of jim harbaugh who got an extension today of all days again with the university of michigan so lots of symmetry going on here and so. Yeah i mean my canola thing. I think everybody saw coming a mile away. The jim thome solo thing is a bit of a surprise austin on youtube. Says i thought it said mccarthy and was like whoa still good to get rid of nolan and this is how every cowboys fan feels. And let's be frank. Let's be honest. We don't enjoy talking about people losing their jobs. People getting fired or things like that but this defense was among the worst again in the history of this game. The dallas cowboys last week. With their season on the line against an offense that had been anemic for most of the season the new york giants that was incidentally again. You talk about all. The irony here led by former dallas cowboys head coach jason garrett in the giants offensive coordinator who again to go kind of crazy circle reportedly had an interview today on friday with the los angeles chargers for their head coaching vacancy. But the cowboys new york with their season on the line and they got run over. I mean the new york giants before last week against the cowboys. The previous four games. The giants had not scored more than three points in a single first half in each of the four games. The giants played before the cowboys. They went into the locker room at halftime with no more than three points. They put twenty up in the first half against the cowboys. And that was kind of what the season was for the cowboys right. This never ending display of imperfection this never ending run of records getting broken records getting set and i just you know this was inevitable. I mean shutout. Of course to the all encompassing thanos. I mean this truly was inevitable. Reality a lotta people myself. Included wondered what took so long this week. It's a pair at the mike mccarthy and his staff overall were evaluating things doing kind of the final walk throughs and assessments in whatever time just came for them to move

Thirty-two NFL Awards

"Every week on this podcast given out. Nfl awards app. The week is over. This could be a bit ambitious but thirty two teams thirty two awards. Let's go we're gonna call this one the best six and ten team of all time award but the washington football team stepped up so now he renamed it already way to change the word on the fly in the moment with breaking news the best seven and nine team of all time award the washington football team now can we say that definitively it may be too early to say last year tampa atlanta both went seventy nine. Those teams didn't even make the playoffs so the early lean is that washington could be the great one of all time. But we don't know yet. Speaking of that game. The clockwork orange award goes to the new york giants because they had to watch i at one point. This season banned myself from nfc east games. I said i wouldn't watch any until the teams are over five hundred. I watch step drop sixty two instead of being super locked into washington philadelphia. And i don't feel like i miss much. I know there's a lot of controversy would get that. Maybe a little bit later but imagine having your eyeballs taped open like clockwork orange and being a member of the giants having to watch that game. Nate sub-field now. Look we can sit here and be upset about it but you could have gone seven nine and got into the playoffs. So how sorry. Can you really feel for the giants the skeletons on the zahara award. Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Indianapolis Colts this weekend

"Look the american football conference. The playoffs are not intact as of yet the steelers just a few weeks ago where the number one seed in the american football conference now. They are the number three seed after three straight losses. Look this team yes. They are in the playoffs. But they are fighting for momentum redemption and seating. And it's very important that they take care of their own business by beating the indianapolis colts which is going to be a tough task. The colts are coming in at ten and four. They ride a fantastic defense behind a forest buckner and also darius leonard and very capable offense as well led by the old wily veteran by the name of philip rivers. Yes they know him. They have been around him a lot in the last seventeen seasons and rivers has faced off against ben roethlisberger as well remember he was the guy who was supposed to go to the steelers and number eleven but ben roethlisberger was picked instead because he went earlier on to the new york giants and then was promptly traded to the sago charters. Thank you ally manning for refusing the play in san diego. You're whiny ways really helped pave the way for to super bowl champions in the pittsburgh steelers in that era.

NFL Week 13 picks: How far can the Saints go with Taysom Hill?

"Next game is the new orleans. Saints in the atlanta falcons saints favored by three I will take the falcons in this game with three points at home. I will take the saints this. Because i think the falcons aren't as good as they looked yest- last week agreed. Alright los angeles rams favored by three at the arizona cardinals I like the cardinals getting those three points I don't know if it's the shoulder. What murray does not look right. The cardinals are kind of looking. We're all of the this. The division games in this in this in the nfc west are always bizarre. I'll take the rams. I'll give the three and take the rams i'll right next. Game is new york giants plus ten at seattle I think we both seattle in this one. Giants are playing better of late. I think there may be the front runner in that division but the the seahawks are A much better team here. Yes if they would be winning the nfc east they were in it. Yeah New england patriots Against the los angeles chargers. The team. That i i like how you build this bowl. The team that should lose versus the team. That should win the team. That should lose but doesn't as often versus the team. That should win but never wins. I phrased it better. But that's the think you did as well. What do you want to go ahead and give it a shot. No now i who knows what it is but yeah the chart. The chargers can't win can't win games. They should and the stupid patriots. You know they they win games. They shouldn't

Dallas Cowboys Strength And Conditioning Coach Markus Paul Suffers ‘Medical Emergency – Undergoing Medical Tests’

"Paul the cowboy strength and conditioning coordinator was rushed to the hospital early yesterday after collapsing in his office at the team's frisco practice facility about seven thirty yesterday morning and he was of course they They called they called medical emergency responders and was was rushed to a hospital right away and the cowboys didn't release a lot of information. I decided that it happened. You know and that he was undergoing medical testing and and that while even even mentioned the testing errors that was part of what led to the problem. A rumor that that spread that that he had died and a lot of outlets published that he had passed away out. Part of the part of the problem was the fact that they had. They cancelled practice yesterday. because of this and no explanation was given so people thought. Okay this is this is more than just somebody not dislike covid nineteen or something or somebody somebody who had a heart condition and had to be taken the hospital. I saw it on a tweet that my daughter reid tweeted because marcus. Paula graduated from syracuse. In one thousand nine hundred eighty eight and they were outlets in syracuse reporting that he had died and his daughter issued a statement on facebook saying her fifty four year. Old dad was on life. Support in the family was praying for a miracle. That is apparently still the situation this morning. Although we don't know but yes. A lot of a lot of people did report That he had died and apparently some of that and again now. Now we're now we're wandering into You know rumor and speculation but apparently some of that came from one of the cowboys players. Who posted a tweet strongly implied or said that marcus paul had died and they were praying for him and they hope that he was watching over them. And and that sort of thing Tmz reported at ten forty six yesterday morning pacific time. of course. it's two hours. That marcus paul in fact is not dead former new york giants offensive. "I don't think habits because there's again I always have too many match ups that they should be able to explain I mean any time there's no way any giants secondary player is Beating Amari Cooper Michael, Gallup line. It's just not happening, and so that's why they should have that advantage however if they if they bend if they collapse if they break on defense that keeps it a game and that's been the problem all season long obviously and I do think they'll bend I really do I. Don't know that they'll break entirely but I do certainly unequivocally. It's funny because we all expect this giants offense to do well. And I'm recording this Saturday afternoon by the way shot out to my fighting Texas aggies got the DUB over the Florida. GATORS. It was beautiful. It was incredible. It was exhilarating oh my gosh. It was it was awesome. So. Committed anyway. But has an recording. This connor lives who talk on the star here on the block of the boys podcast network tweet out a screen shot of a daily fantasy lineup. And his lineup is pure giants. He's got Daniel Jones got Darius slain, devante, Freeman Golden State, and Golden Tate's played well against the cowboys or that's the perception at least he really hasn't. It's just something people say. And from a fantasy angle I would totally play Jones if you're a daily fantasy player and you're looking for a discount or. Benefits somewhere I would one hundred percent play, Daniel Johnson and. He's going to perform well, he might not I think we all have this. Terrified idea of what could happen right like, oh my gosh I was gonna just totally collapsed and I think that habits. That's why I think the cowboys win, but they will breathe life into the giants offense that will unequivocally.

"Smith is playing among the worst players on the Dallas cowboys right now, which is not ideal and so having Francis Bernard around is really frankly better option though with the cowboys have had coming into this stretch here against the giants because and I think it's worth mentioning that we're now I mean you and I hear right where We're putting a collective amount of pressure on Francis Bernard in a fair and moderate way right? Okay. Francis please please Francis come in and helped Stevens because it's been so bad. We are now depending theoretically on three players that are either first or second year undrafted free agents and I know the Dallas cowboys have a long storied history of finding undrafted free agents, Tony Romo, mouse, Austin, etc etc. But. Brandon Knight is a second year undrafted free agent who the Dallas Cowboys you're starting at left tackle now for the rest of the year without Harrismith Smith terrance steele who has taken a lot of flack really because of his coaching staff and then leaving him out to dry Taryn steel has taken a lot of criticism for really not being a good starting NFL tackle and wow who would have thought that he would have been good as a rookie undrafted free agent at a Texas Tech. It's not tarit steals fault that he's not ready for the NFL. That's why he went undrafted at the Dallas cowboys have of isolated him in that particular regard. Hopefully, he is up to the challenge. We will see if the cowboys do elect to start tearing steel at right tackle later on today against the giants that is a bit more unknown, and as mentioned, we are now depending to a certain degree on Francis Bernard. There are a lot of people. I had some tweets about Francis Bernard. That had some snide comments. It said the cowboys should bench Jalen Smith and play Francis Bernard etc in. A month ago that would have sounded like a person just you know really loving their pet cat and Francis Bernard right. But now I don't want to say there's legitimate merit to that but there's legitimate merit to that. So but that was the second. One of the cowboys made on Saturday also elevated Senator Marcus Henry, defensive, back Stephen Parker from the practice squad again, cowboys needing bodies in. The secondary and as mentioned Taryn Smith will miss the rest of the season he was placed on injured reserve. So was Joe Looney I mentioned that Joe looney expected to miss somewhere between two to three weeks. The MC L. and again due to the way that injured reserve is working here in the cove nineteen protocol season you can. You can put a guy on injured reserve that scheduled to. Miss two to three weeks. Kind of works out perfectly for you because you can have somebody else elevated. That is where the cowboys elevated Marcus Henry because they need able bodies to play NFL. Games. So that brings us to where we are now the DALLAS COBB is getting one and three the New York giants four, it should be mentioned Mike McCarthy is one in three in his first. Season with the Dallas cowboys through four games and that his predecessor Jason Garrett never went one in three during nine seasons that he was full time head coach of the Dallas Cowboys. That's right. Two, thousand, eleven twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, and nineteen all nine of those years the Dallas. Cowboys not wants through four games wherever one and three they were either too into three in one. The picture obviously not one and three, and so that has a lot of people saying and wondering what gives what's happening why are the cowboys this bad and people are so frustrated with the cowboys the game against the giants, the cowboys are favored by nine and a half you look at most places and that is generally the line obviously plus or minus there, and I don't think anybody thinks that can cover that. For what it's worth care about where I. would put my jelly beans I would not take the Dallas cowboys to. Cover. Can I? Can I mean? We're talking about a defense that is literally off to one of the worst starts mattress in franchise history. But in NFL history, a defense that allowed the Cleveland Browns to rush for over three hundred yards. Last week I mentioned dropped forty nine points on the cowboys, and so I would take the New York giants to cover. I really would today and I know that that's laughable because the New York. Giants offense has been very bad this year. And I've said this. If you places leading up to this game, you know done some different podcasts, different shows. Most notably, I jumped on the Valentine's view podcast that my buddy Ed Valentine does at our giant set at SP nation view, and so we were talking about this game and you know I used to write bold predictions a long time ago, and I don't do that anymore. But if I had to offer a bold prediction, it would be this. We are four games into the NFL season and the New York giants have scored three touchdowns three like literally like literally one less than the number of games that they have played I'm GonNa, say that again because it's that astonishing the New York giants have played four games. And scored three touchdowns, Chat Jason Garrett and his offense run the ball. We make Pinko cards every week belong to the boys and one of our Bingo squares was that the giants run the ball on at least five first downs and you know that's inevitable. But even if that's what happens I don't see how the cowboys slow them down I. Think. The giants are a team that should put something up ten points or whatever on every NFL team. That's just kind of how it goes. They haven't scored a touchdown in the last two weeks. Mind you are they have not scored a touchdown since we to this is week five. And I don't think that's going to be the case I. DO think the Cowboys Win this game I think that there are just too many reasons why I think their offense is significantly better and I think that. If, they have to get into a shootout like they did against Seattle. For example, they did against Cleveland to an extent I think they almost won those games in those games are against much better offenses than even this New York giants offense I mean the giants it should be said are operating without Saquon Barkley Without Sterling Shepherd and are certainly a very different version of themselves than they thought they would be the season kind of like we talked about with Mike McCarthy. and. So this game will be one for the cowboys on defense, which is a super scary. To say out. Loud. And ultimately, they should the devante Freeman is not going to run against the cowboys, right? Like that's not gonNA. Happen. to to the Kareem Hunt level of last week. But I think he will have success and the bold prediction I'm getting at is the New York. Giants have scored three touchdowns through four games. This season I think they matched that I really do. I think the New York giants at the very least match that performance in. If you think that these last two weeks have been long for the cowboys or this season has been long. If you think that that it has been bad I want you to imagine a cowboys loss to the New York giants and Jason Garrett homecoming because if you want to see it. Hit the fan that is what will happen. That will be one of the worst losses in the history of the Dallas Cowboys Maybe all-time certainly this millennium I mean it will be bad..

"If the giants want to beat the Eagles both times you go right on ahead and you do that that that would that would be a good thing. So you know before before you let me go, R., J., the one thing I do have to say is. I still can't believe. The giants let Tom Landry getaway to coach cowboys for all those years. I still can't believe that you re. Do you realize that the giants a? It may not register for you, but the giants had Vince Lombardi and Tom Landry. The same status is same staff. and. And let them both get away. Now I mean, it's It's wild when you think about you know where things like that started like you could look at a lot of teams like that. You could look at bill chicks, Brown's like maybe not the same way, but certainly in an interesting way at least when Nick Sabin, and and all those assistance that would go on to be general managers and office figures and whatnot tough, but you know we've. We've returned the favor. Edham Jason Garrett's back. You know all is restored. And that! You know. It's funny because you would ask me about. Sort of guys that were cowboys who are now giants that that fan base kind of had to get used to ride. That's my final question and and. And I think to be honest with you. The one that comes to mind is Jason Garrett. because. People when when the giants fired, Patch Shurmur You know Jason Garrett had through his people, or whatever, before the cowboys said even fired him had made it known that the giants would be on his list if If. If the cowboys, which we all knew the cowboys. We're GONNA let him go No, I mean but the. The common reaction was. Not Jason Garrett not to scare. Anybody but Jason, Garrett. Please got anybody but Jason Garrett for sure so so so so now that he's the offensive coordinator. People have had to come to terms with. Well. I guess he was okay as an offensive coordinator. I guess it's okay that they hired him. As long as he's not. The head coach I guess that's all right. So it's like you've gotta come to terms with that one. I had stuff so that was I. I asked her that question. When I sent this to you was in like you said it was a cowboys player that had become a giant that you had kind of you know well. We've always liked this guy type thing and. After I sent it I thought you know there really hasn't been that much crossover like that much cross pollination. View Chris canty everything walls. Minna few, but but nobody who I would have said you know. Emmett Smith didn't come to the right. Now set didn't come to. The giants I- Craig. Morton got traded to the giants, but but do do we really. Do we really need to go there? That's what I'm saying like. There's there's not of a huge name like that in your. Chris Candy was tough. especially you know, or for cowboys, fans watching it and you know when a ring and everything but so for me. The Way I am choosing to answer that is more just giants players that I I think the cowboys fans could not stand when they were giants, and then moved on elsewhere, and they just became general nfl fans of and there are two that come to. To Mind, one is very recent in Oda Beckham June. When he got traded, there were a lot of cowboys. Fans that you know had long recognized his talent that have said finally. I get to root for him. You know what I mean the other, the other one is Jeremy shockey. I loved Jeremy Shockey and then you know once you left the giants. It was like okay I can be all in now. You know and it was. It was a bit liberating in that sense. It's it's funny Jeremy shockey is a guy. Giants fans loved Jeremy shockey. Until, they did. On until his last year, or maybe two with the giants, because you know what happened to Schalke, tremendous talent electric personality. Guy Could do things at at tight end. That were incredible at the time. But. But what happened with Jeremy Shockey? Was that his personality? Got In the way of Eli Manning's development. Because because he would complain that the ball wasn't coming to him enough, and and he was vocal about play calls. Critical of of of Tom Coughlin and and all of those things in in. Unfortunately, he wore out his welcome and I think people were glad to see him. Go on a kind of unfortunate, because at one time, he wasn't incredibly popular player. Sometimes that happens I honestly on the subject of tight ends, I thought the cowboy you hated. The most is going to be Jason Widen just because. I still hate Jason Witten I. Don't know where he is I. Don't know what what's his forty time now about about eight point five, but you know, but but I will I will guarantee you that he could still catch. You know everything going on in the world of sports these days has to do with Major League Baseball and the Houston Astros and whatnot. So things have kinda quieted down across the NFL. Which is crazy considering the conference championships tomorrow but the cowboys had had to sort of a bit of news items happen on Friday afternoon slash evening the first one I I don't WanNa make it sound like it's not a big deal but I it? It's not as big of a deal. It's the second one Adam Henry officially as official as it can get without Mike McCarthy officially officially announcing that Adam Henry hired hired as the cowboys wide receivers coach cowboys obviously moved on from Sanjay Lal as we talked about Adam. Henry has familiarity with Odell Beckham junior to a great degree. WHO's in the news for a lot of reasons? We'll just leave it at that obviously worked with Odell with the New York. Giants has worked with Odell and Jarvis Landry both with the Cleveland browns rounds in back at Lsu and so Adam Henry has some familiarity working with some elite receivers in you know. Obviously he's got Michael Gallup and we'll see what happens with the Mario Cooper Randall. COBB and whatnot. What not but I think we all expect Amari to be back and hope Randall. COBB is back so ultimately good news. Good news get new coaches everything getting ready getting going. It's almost senior bowl time so I'll have some fun. Draft related things to get into his next week. Sort of rolls along. Remember by the way that not this coming coming Monday but the following Monday I forget what day that is. I'm going to look that up literally Wa recording because that's how I roll the twenty seventh From the twenty seven th which is Monday through the thirty first which is Friday. I'LL BE RADIO ROW in Miami with espy nation with Jeanette Thomas and Pete Sweeney depending on what happens with the Kansas City chiefs. Pete runs our Kansas City chiefs site at espionage aero had pride WE'LL BE ON RADIO ROW IF HE SOMEHOW MISSED IT. We've been talking about it. Just kind of you know going to be recording podcast with tons of guests Having Fun getting a bunch of interviews and whatnot so we'll post the ones that make sense here on the beat to beat podcast feed will post them all. Throughout all of our estimation podcast feeds. It's an all over the network just depending who the guest is but I. We're not exactly sure how I'll definitely find a hub at divorced worst case scenario it just so you're aware and I'll remind you again. Is the days get closer. I'll tweet out every interview. So hypothetically we interviewed. I don't know Victor Cruz right officer. That might not make a lot of sense to use a cowboys fan. But I'll tweet it out you know and if you WANNA listen you can check that out. smick follow me on twitter and instagram. I'll get all the links and everything there at our Geo show on both so that will be fun. But Victor Cruz played for the New York. Giants and I promise I did not set that up on purpose. It was completely accidental. The New York giants are unimportant topic right now. Because on Friday evening as I finished up the blitz on ESPN San Antonio it was reported by ESPN. I Jason Garrett is the new offensive coordinator for the New York giants. That's right Jason Garrett the former former Dallas cowboys head coach. It's now the offensive coordinator for their division rivals. The New York giants He is said to be Joe. Judge I your head coach. First Time head coach judges set to be his his new offensive coordinator in the Big Apple. And there's a lot to this. You know honestly this is fascinating fascinating fascinating for a number of reasons I think look. I think we should all hope that Jason Gert succeeds right and I know that you're going to say no I don't want to succeed these division division rival etc.. Jason gets a great guy and an awesome person and I hope you find success at everything he does in life. He certainly gave being the cowboys head coach. His all and ultimately things did not materialize. But those two games a year are going to be fascinating and you know this is just another link between the cowboys and giants obviously Two franchises franchises very much connected over. Its tenure in Dallas both as the offensive coordinator which he wants more and as head coach in I I mean this is just. It's crazy Joe. Judge Look he's a younger head. Coach is under forty years old. Jason Garrett's obviously had a lot of experience of being an NFL head coach. So it makes sense kind of you know we talked opt about you. Know how Charles Robinson reported that. He talked about himself when he was on the show. You know how had the cowboys gone in a direction where they had hired say Lincoln Riley instead of Mike McCarthy in might have made sense to pair him with a season to defensive coordinator. You know somebody who'd been there who done who'd soon. Who knows what being head coaches like and Jason Gareth kind of that for Joe? Judge judge granted judge not as young as a hypothetical like Lincoln Riley. Or whatever. This is fascinating I tell you what because the giants they have a lot of interesting offense of pieces. He says a lot of young pieces Daniel Jones. Who is maybe the most Jason Garrett quarterback there is SAQUON Barkley goes without saying sterling. Shepard Dairy Slayton of core four seven. Ingram I mean. There's a lot to like on that giants offense in Jason. I mean I don. I know that everyone's GonNa Laugh. But if Jason Garrett can make the the giants offense legitimate or a leader however far you want to go in this hypothetical blogging boys might burn down. I mean if if you know let let's let's say you know let's be random and say that Jason Gertz giants beat the cowboys like fifty one seven or something that will be that might end. I mean you know what I'm saying to and we when we I wrote about this for bt and one of our top common said you know be careful what you wish for because you just got it and everybody buddy is laughing and getting their jokes often saying you know all this is going to be awesome. Jason Great is going to be predictable is going to be stale etc.. The giants are going to suck. I mean just watch out now you know and for what it's worth. I was trying to think about this and as far as my memory is concerned I believe the last time Jason gearhead a hand in play calling was two thousand and thirteen maybe two thousand twelve and when you consider that we're in the year two thousand twenty that's pretty crazy. I mean in two thousand thirteen. It was kind of Bill Callahan. Running the show in that department and then the transition Scotland a hint sort of took over in two thousand fourteen. That's when everybody was in love with Lenihan and And then obviously when when that sort of fell apart a year ago The cowboys moved on to Kellen Moore. And so it's been a while. I mean you know so. Many people have talked about that. It had for so long. been a mystery as to what Jason Garrett did on Game Day you just never knew in so it will be interesting to watch him. Coordinate offense call plays presumably. That's what he's going to do with the G.. Men and I mean I'm sure you're familiar. But Jason Garrett has a history with the giants played for for them just like you did. The cowboys obviously has ties the Newark area. He was a member of the giants in the early two thousands and I mean so. He's kind of back home home in some ways I mean obviously the cowboys are true. Home but He's not unfamiliar with the giants. And you know if you have seen an EPA Jason You know that he has said the Dallas football cowboys you know multiple times. I mean that's that's the giants thing right there. The New York football giants. And so it's it's GonNa be very interesting to see how this unfolds at the very least we're in for quite the show quite the level of entertainment so WHO KNOWS BUT I? I do think it's worth mentioning Here on the PODCAST Joe Judge obviously is the New York giants head coach and end The New York giants released some comments from Joe Judge in the aftermath of naming. Jason Curtis is offensive coordinator so this is from their official website. The official missile teams website. I've known I'm reading this word for word. I tweeted this exact screen-grabbed at if you want to go check it out on my twitter I've known about Jason for a long time not only through the general public as well known as he is as head coach. The cowboys judge said there were guys I worked with that. I came across in my career at both Alabama and at the New England patriots. That worked with Jason through their time in Miami with him they consistently all reflect on how smart he is. How great a teacher? He is and how his perspective. The game was through a different Lens than most coaches and when when he sees it he's able to communicate it and paint that mental image to the players and he does a fantastic job of making in game adjustments. What anyway Continuing on we had some great conversations and we were able to bring him in here. Judge said it was a great it opportunity to get to know each other a little better than we had before it was a great opportunity to sit there and top ball and share philosophies and views on the game. It's a great system Tom. He brings with great teaching that will allow players to go out there and play aggressively now. Look I'm not trying to you. You know just pick Jason Garrett. I do think that he did some legitimate things during his time with the Dallas Cowboys and he certainly was a fantastic offensive coordinator when he first took on on that role. Now thirteen years ago but I mean in game adjustments playing aggressively. Those aren't really qualities. I would personally finally assigned to the cowboys over the last few years. So maybe Joe Judge got a different interpretation but either way this will be very fascinating Whatever you got going on this Saturday Saturday? Hope it's wonderful. Hope it's incredible hope. It's exactly what you've been dreaming of and I hope you have.

"Okay so adam schefter came out in reported that the new york giants would like to first round picks for beckham adam schefter is accurate so this is true what the giants are saying is will move him but you they're sending a message this is how the this is how it works when you get guys like peter schrager and jay glazer and peter king and adam schefter and chris mortensen these are highly read reporters teams send messages through reporters what the giants are saying is we're willing to move him that's what the giants are telling you but they're also telling you come with a legitimate offer okay so when i i don't treat all reporters the same there's about six guys that cover the nfl then are just better connected okay schefters one of them okay this is a message from the new york giants to every gm in the league has every gm reads about seven fell guys six seven guys all the nfl guys read them and we got a couple of here at fox and people just read them and this is a message he's for sale but don't try to low balls i think the giants would take a first and third by the way that's two starters in the nfl especially for the new york giants do i think odell beckham is worse worth a first round pick yeah i don't think he's not worth the first pick but do i think he's worth pick.

"And and i think if i were the giants i would consider it and i'll tell you why i would consider it it sounds to me like oh del beckham junior is getting ready to be a headache for the new york giants not only in terms of his contract negotiations but in possibly not showing up to the off season program and the reason why the off season program this year is so important to the new york giants is very very simple pat shurmur is going to be instituting his offense with this team you don't want a situation where the most explosive player on that offense gets in a hissing match with the giants over his contract and doesn't show up until pick a time august twentieth hoggets twenty fifth whenever the thing finally gets done so i you know and i'm not saying the giants would be a better team you know without odal beckham junior but what i am saying is that it is interesting to me that the giants do not dismiss this out of hand and the fact that they don't dismiss this out of hand basically tells me that all right rams give us a great offer and then let's see what happens so put that one not necessarily on the back burner i'd put that one on the front burner because i think it's one of those deals that could make an awful lot of sense for both teams finally if you ask me right now what the giants should do with the second overall pick in the draft.
