Paredes has 2 homers, 5 RBIs as Rays hammer Verlander and sputtering Mets, 8-5
"After splitting four games at Yankee Stadium over the weekend, the raids began a series at Citi Field with an 8 to 5 win over the mets. Esau parades are three run Homer in the third and the two run blast in the 5th, bolt off Justin Verlander who took the loss in his mets home debut. You know, I was hoping that today I could be the catalyst and go out and have a great start against a good team and help us win and I wasn't able to do that. Calhoun, Volpe help Yanks rally past Guardians to halt skid
"Last night the New York Yankees blew a two zero lead late to the Cleveland guardians at Yankee Stadium. Tuesday night turnabout was fair play as it was the guardians who scored too early and gave Tanner babies something to work with in his second major league start. He carried the lead into the 6th, but gave up a home run to Anthony volpe, a double glaber Torres, who was then knocked in with an Anthony Rizzo single. For Bobby, another lesson learned. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, having a bunch of firsts, I mean, first road trip first, first weekend, the first game of Yankee Stadium. So, I mean, I think it can be a lot of learning experiences, no matter what happens. Will E Calhoun Homer in the 7th give the Yankees a lead and DJ le mayhew edit insurance in the 8th with an RBI single, which seal the Yankees four to two win. Matt Mike, which New York

Yanks keep Ohtani, Trout quiet, beat Angels 9-3, take 2 of 3
"New York Yankees took the rubber match of their three game set with the Los Angeles angels Thursday afternoon. Rallying for 5 runs in the first city on route to a 9 to three win at Yankee Stadium. That altered winning pictured Nestor Cortes approached just a little bit. Puts me on the attack. I'm trying to get out of there with the least pitch as possible because we have a 5 room need and obviously solo homers don't hurt you in this game. So trying to get as much done as much out as possible. Cortez went 6 innings, Isaiah kind of full effort played center field and Yankee Stadium for the first time ever and came up with two diving catches to go with an RBI single. "Joe hill Toni, Homer Yankee Stadium on Tuesday, 100 years to the day Babe Ruth hit the first home run at the original ballpark in The Bronx. Otani turned on an 88.7 mph sweeper from Clark Schmidt and had a 116.7 mph drive that landed in the Yankees bullpen in right center, 391 feet from home plate. It was Otani's fourth home run of the season and 8th and 18 games against the Yankees. Cole tosses 2-hitter with 10 Ks as Yanks blank Twins 2-0
"The Yankees Garrett call became the major league's first four game winner by shutting out the twins to nothing. Call gave up just two hits and one walk while fanning ten to race his record to four zero in a complete game performance, lowering his ERA to 0.95. We're facing like a great team and a great pitcher. So just more satisfied with the win. DJ lemieux who gave Cole all the offensive support he needed with an RBI single in the third and a solo home run in the 6th off Pablo Lopez who suffered his first loss of the season. Correa rallies Twins over Yank 4-3, overcomes Volpe's 1st HR
"The Minnesota Twins who rarely win at Yankee Stadium, one in The Bronx for the second straight night coming from behind to top the Yankees four to three. The twins who jumped out to a 9 zero lead in the first inning on Thursday, this time fell behind quickly to nothing as the first two Yankee batters, Anthony volpe and Aaron judge homered. But rocko baldelli's team quickly settled down. From that moment on, our guys just grinded out every inning, every at bat, every pitch did everything we could to stay in the game. Carlos Correa homered in the 6th to pull the twins within one, and then hit a two run double in the 8th to give Minnesota the four three lead had held the rest of the way. Tom Arian, New York.

Doval escapes in the 9th as Giants hold off Yanks 7-5
"San Francisco Giants bounced back from their opening day loss at Yankee Stadium taking the second game in the three game series 7 to 5. The Yankees picked up run in the first time error by giant starter Alex Cobb and another in the third on Giancarlo Stanton's line drive Homer, leading Cobb to find solutions when things were unraveling. The clock is ticking, you know, and when you, things are unraveling a little bit and you're kind of trying to find a decent group you gotta slow it down and you just have to do it another way. "Adam Yankee pinstripes. I gotta believe that as he stood there in the 7th inning coming to the plate. After striking out in the first two games, and then hearing a chorus of boos they came, well, there's no cheap seats any longer. We can't say up in the nosebleed section. There are no cheap seats any longer. In the new Yankee Stadium the mall, the house that a roid and Jeter built, I hate that place. It's not like, it's not like the House said Ruth built. And I said to myself, gee, my interest in baseball is waning. My interest in baseball is waning. And that's not a good thing. As I've loved baseball ever since I was a little kid collecting top baseball cards, playing flips, topsy's. Analyzing and memorizing all the stats on the back of the top spaceball cards. Even though the teams I didn't like even other players I didn't like and was so such a fanatic that I would actually write on the top spaceball cards. The team that they were traded to on the front, which obviously made it a worthless card. And now that people are spending millions of cards on certain hard to get baseball cards. And I remember at the top's factory, which is just on the other side of the Hudson tunnel in New Jersey, might as well have been Fort Knox. The men and women who went inside would have to take all their clothes off after they finish their job of printing because the thought was they were stealing cards. And they were trying to create collectibles so that they were limited edition cards. That would escalate in value. And they were right. They were right to do that. But as a kid, you didn't even think about that. You just love baseball. You just love collecting baseball cards and chewing that lousy gum. They came with it. It wasn't bazooka Joe bubblegum was that flat gum. And then end up forcing you to go to the dental office because you get cavities, but you couldn't wait to get more baseball cards. You couldn't win, wait to win or lose cards, flipping, or matching, heads, tails, arms, great. And now I find myself no longer immersed in baseball. Got to get rid of this manager boom. I hate this guy with a passion. I predicted the day they signed them up and they said, oh, this guy does all the analytics. He's a wonk. I said, this guy doesn't have passion for the game. Everything is a number with this guy. And it truly is. He couldn't pick or relieve picture if his life depended on it. I don't know many of you have any solace. I know many of you are probably suffering deep part depression. If you're a Yankee fan and met fans, your entire season was destroyed by the guy who claims he's a met fan, Eric Adams is swagger man with no plan. Who said you were gonna sweep your way into the World Series. You gotta own it as Steve Cohen, he should be in jail. For insider trading information, no doubt about it. And I know something was wrong. Halfway through the season, met fans you were doing great. You were making all the right moves. Your own was like acting like Steinbrenner, there were no limits in terms of what he would buy or try to get on the free agent market. And then all of a sudden, three quarters of the way through the season, he said, $300 million is my limit, and I said, uh oh. That's not a good no more. But I'm telling you, I myself are just not there for me. I don't know what it is for you. Anyway, our numbers one 808 four 8 9 two two two. That's one 808 four 8 WABC. And I will tell you this, the nation is just not as immersed in baseball as it used to be. I know that most people are talking about football. Why football because of the gambling. Yeah, this gambling on baseball is gambling on basketball. It's gambling on NCAA sports of all types. Degenerate gamblers like Frank Moran will gamelon anything. There's no doubt about it. But I don't find the passion out there like they used to be. Yeah, they say the game is too long. They don't recognize the players, players go from team to team. They're like hessians and mercenaries. It's hard to get attached to play it sometimes. I get all that. But I don't know, there's something about baseball, then no longer has the attraction to me that it used to be. It used to balance me. Current events, I'd read it in the papers and the front pages. I didn't want to read the current events, the front section until I had consumed the back pages of a newspaper, especially. When I was growing up in delivering the daily news, the hometown newspaper, and I used to sell a million hard copies a day, a million. And a 1 million 200,000 on Sunday. Now, be lucky if they could give a 100,000 hard copies away. And you know it was on the back page, dick young. Because there was no 24/7 three 6 5 sports reporting. You were waiting for the commentary of dick young on the back page. That's how incredibly important he was as a sports columnist. That's how incredibly important sports was to us. That when we got that newspaper, the first thing we read was all the sports because we knew that the front pages would make us nauseous. Would not bring us joy we're not bring us knockers and we're just just give

"He's a mets fan and the other one was a Yankees fan and like it was fun. It was a good game once we got in, we didn't get to Grom unfortunately he had been scheduled to pitch, but then he got pushed back so we got Taiwan walker instead, which is not quite a special, but it turned out to be a good game, but we didn't get into the park until the second inning and we got there early so we just could not get in and then my friends they wanted to get some food and I was like no thank you like I've had enough time online they were getting food for like two innings. It was like the worst and then of course you get onto the D trade and afterward and oh man it's like total sardine can situation and like trains not running and if I don't get COVID from that, then I just must be immune I don't know. That's the greatest couple of the price and just like the aesthetic of the place at everything and you know unless you're going to a great game with great friends and great company in which case it's fun regardless like it got to a point where I'm with a friend and we're just like aghast at how long it's taking to get into the park and it went past like frustrating to just like almost absurdly fun in a way that it was like so mismanaged that it took us so long to get in. But man, I mean that place I don't love it. It just seems like they did not do a good job with that part both in terms of getting into it and just the accessibility and then just like how fun it is to watch a game there and you're further from the field. It's just it's not a special bell park. It's really not. I'm much prefer city field frankly and just about everywhere. Almost everywhere I've gone except for like old cookie cutter, multi purpose parks, maybe some of which are no longer around anymore. It's toward the bottom of my list, if not at the bottom of my ballpark list. Yeah, I feel well, I always feel nervous. Leveling these criticisms, but I will say perhaps this will inoculate me a little bit. As a person who was able to go to a game at old Yankee Stadium, you know, I'm sure that if it were my regular ballpark, the gaps between, you know, when an experience is fun and old timey and obviously rundown would maybe widen and be more obvious. But yeah, it had character rate. It had personality. And I think it wasn't just that it had like grime. It had actual personality to it. And even then, I remember being kind of underwhelmed by some of the concession options, but like the ballpark was cool, so whatever. That's what you were there for. Right, sure. And you know, that was like what 2008 was the last year of that place. So they didn't have as much Gourmet ballpark food back then. Anywhere. But exactly. I would imagine that for the time it was pretty standard, right? We were doing. We were doing anything other than Bud Light anywhere, really, at that point. So I think that it had had a feel to it. You could feel the history to the place and you're right. I've said this before, like the new Yankee Stadium feels like they built a ballpark on the back lot at Disney so that they could film. A show or a movie about a baseball team. And it feels like it is generic on purpose in a way that is very strange for such a. For such a storied franchise and for a franchise that has a very high level of self regard, right? Like you would think that they would want you to go into that place and be like a temple to baseball and specifically Yankees baseball. And it just doesn't have that feel to it, and then yeah, whenever a team that is and has been very good for a long time, like can't do the ticket logistics stuff, I'm just like, what's your excuse for this? Because I remember there were times when I was, you know, when my local park was what is now T mobile, what was safeco, and you know, there would be a couple of weekends a year where either because of a ballpark promotion or because of the visiting team coming in, like, safeco would be full, and you could tell that they were kind of stretched, right? That they weren't used to dealing with sell out crowds because the Mariners were not good. And hadn't been good for a long time, but it's like, what is the Yankees excuse for that? Are they just, is the assumption just that, well, you're going to put up with this because you really want to see the Yankees and the mets. I know that not every day is a sell out there and I know that not every day has as much sort of local buy in as a subway series game where you're pulling both local teams fandoms, but like you gotta have that stuff kind of figured out. Plus it is the worst feeling. When you are in an extremely long line, such that you can not even see the front of it really. You were just you are not only are you aware of your distance, but you are, or at least I am, you're aware of the grand act of faith that you are engaged in because you are assuming that you are in the right line and that the people ahead of you didn't just like form a line that they weren't like, eh, I guess this is where, you know, I was coming home from a couple of days of vacation yesterday and there was a moment where it became clear in the boarding group that someone had just stood in a place and then everyone assumed that was the front of the line. And it was not. They were just standing there. They were like, oh, I'm sorry are you in line? And it was like, oh gosh. Yeah, we just had to take it on faith. We were in the line for the line, yeah. And I've been there many times, so it's not just for subway seriously. It's never routine to get in there. It's never like you just sail right through. I don't know what it is. Yes, they have metal detectors and all of that. But it didn't even seem like that was such a hold up. It was just like crowd control. There wasn't any. It was just uncontrolled crowd. So I don't know how they don't have this down pat at this point, having been open for so long and having had many subway series games before, but really that's part of the problem and then once you get into the park, you're underwhelmed by the look of the place and the feel of the place as well. And I've worked there as a Yankees employee. I've worked there as a writer and I've gone there as a fan. So it's not a small sample for me. It's the closest MLB ballpark to me. I've been there many times and I'm just extremely unimpressed by the place. It's also astoundingly loud. And I know that nothing makes you sound older than complaining about the decibel level at a ballpark, but it's just deafening in there, not being in the press box. I could fully appreciate the volume. My friend was joking that it's like if you're a baseball broadcaster, you have to be conscious of starting a story with two outs because you might get cut off. It's the same sort of thing. If you're just with a friend at Yankee Stadium, the between innings noise, just drowns everything else out, not saying it needs to be like a church in there or that the old stadium was quiet in my youth, but having a conversation with your Friends is one of the best parts of being at a ballpark and if you can't do that because it's so loud that maybe it's too loud. Every time they would flash like make some noise at the scoreboard, it's like, no, please have mercy my ears have been punished enough as a concert at MetLife stadium last week.

"Salary cap in the market they're in. There's no excuse for that. There is none. Okay, let me bring up a point that I think could be, I think, should be going through Red Sox fans. And it was stirred up in my mind when you mentioned the cost of a daily experience at Fenway Park. Yankee fans can complain about the ticket prices at the new Yankee Stadium. But you can also see where the Yankees are going to spend. Still, they're going to spend, even though they're luxury cap, a luxury tax aware still. They're going to spend on Stanton. They're going to spend on Gary Cole and after this, we're going to see whether or not they're going to spend on Aaron judge, right? We think they are. I think they're going to do everything in their power to make sure Aaron judge stays a Yankee for life. I'd be surprised if they didn't. The point being, I think a Yankee fan believes the Yankees are going to identify the superstars and hold on to their superstars. Usually that is the case. There are exceptions. None come to mind immediately. I'm sure there are examples. But for the most part, the Yankees keep their superstars. What bugs the living, but Jesus out of Red Sox fans, is they have a like you mentioned, so many stars of the past walk out the door. Even back in the day when they traded nomar Garciaparra away, they trained away a foundation player that I still think they would have and could have won the World Series in 2004 with nomar. But we'll have that conversation some other time. Obviously, they let John Lester walk and you know, that's been well documented. There have been many other cases of the Red Sox. Once they identify a star either homegrown or brought in, they let them walk. And I think that's what really upsets Red Sox fans in this particular case. One other point I want to bring up and get your reaction. I think a better comp would have been and they may not have had this information. I forget the timing, but when the Cleveland guardians locked up José Ramírez, which is a far more reasonable comp, right? Would you agree?

"That deadlines create urgency you locked out the players to jump start the negotiations It feels like real bargaining went on just in the last 24 to 36 hours I'm sure people are wondering why not over the last three three months or even longer to get to a point where you're not necessarily canceling games because there's still momentum here Yeah I think the best answer to that question is the last ten days We've been here ready to bargain full committees owners players for ten days and it got going two days before the deadline You know that's the best explanation I can give you I'm a clay From a layman's perspective we haven't had sports really you know it's been on and off How can they not be all fired up What's going on So the season was supposed to start on March 31st And what they've effectively done is now be unable to get a resolution a collective bargaining agreement between the players and the owners that they can agree on And so they've knocked out the first 7 games effectively of the season Now they play a 162 Major League Baseball games and the relationship between the players union and the owners has been particularly contentious for some time now and certainly COVID I would say just kind of added fuel to the fire over this situation because a couple of years ago if you're a baseball fan they couldn't figure out how to get the season back started and they only played a 60 game season And so I am a baseball fan buck but I'm not a die hard right It doesn't really matter to me what's happening in April May in June I'm gonna take my kids down to Atlanta Braves we've got a great affiliate station right there in Atlanta right by the battery the park where the Atlanta Braves the World Series champion Atlanta Braves by the way are playing And not to pass dispersions against them but you and I are actually gonna be down in Houston And the last time I was down in Houston was for the World Series we're doing a big event on Friday And we'll be doing the show live from Houston on Thursday and Friday Our Friends Jesse Kelly and Michael berry putting together Our affiliate station down there which we're really excited that they're gonna be hosting us And we're gonna go for a thousand in that market We like to say hi to everybody down in Houston and they're gonna be several thousand people at that event that Michael berry's put together on Friday that should be really cool and we're excited about The last time I was down there was with the World Series I went and watched the Astros play against the braves And so it was an awesome time but I tend to maybe I'm in the minority here but I don't really care that much if they play a 140 games or they play a 120 they're not gonna cancel the season Eventually it's going to get worked out And the fact that they're not playing one 62 is not really got me that riled up but it is a big story And if you're a die hard baseball fan there are a lot of people buck who just feel like baseball can't get out of its own way If we've been doing this show 50 years ago I would have said hey there are three sports that matter in America today Horse racing boxing and baseball And obviously horse racing and boxing but for every now and then major event we really don't pay much attention to in the nation And baseball is kind of hanging on there but it feels as if baseball continues to shoot itself in the foot over and over again And this for many people is just the latest symptom of the players and the owners not being able to get everything moving in the right direction to both end up on the same side of an equation where fans can just be able to watch the games It is fun to go to a baseball stadium When's the last time you went to a baseball game Oh gosh 20 years Probably 20 years I mean because what I love about going to baseball games is I like to just go with buddies or take my kids have a couple of beers get a hot dog baseball is one of those great sports where you can go and just chill There's a high level of intensity it feels like to me when you go to a football game there aren't that many of them they matter so much For basketball certainly when you get into the postseason it feels a lot more intense Hockey I think it's hard to play at half speed Baseball feels like the rhythm of the summer And man I love when it's a great night perfect weather just to go sit out I'm surprised you haven't gone and checked out the new Yankee Stadium I think I did go maybe 15 maybe ten or 15 years ago I have been to the new Yankee Stadium and I did get to see when I was in high school actually I got taken to a World Series Yankees game Well that's pretty awesome Which was pretty cool So I do remember that That intensity is electric Now that they've effectively ended all the mandates or at least they're planning to by what march 7th I think and I'll be able to reenter the city without having to be able to be locked up in my hotel room We should go to a baseball game I bet we got a bunch of fans out there of the Yankees and or the mets to go to a game when the weather's good chill have some beers just kick back I promise "One of your forty five minute hill. Classes hidden hills hit and held the twelve. Incline hill is my favorite. How crazy is that. I discovered it while i was training for the two triathlons are seventy point. Three distance triathlon. So boyfriend is a triathlete. So you understand my pain. So i was so excited to discover these hill classes because all the racist hills. And i'm like you've got to train the terrain it's so important and there's no hills in new york city so it was like wanna keep running central park or like new yankee stadium. Not enough no no. It's not enough. It's not long those hills classes I was really excited. To bring them to the treads. It took a while. I was very i was like. Oh we should do this as part of my pilots on. I am like training specialists. So new programs i what rob in we create them in so that was really exciting and i just love that people are enjoying it and the hills is essentially part of speed training. Right so good together really well. But it's just a different side of it because you're trying to that heart rate lower than the inaugural word on a hill which i think is great for people because it gives them that slice of humble pie whereas other times hills class people just want to hammer it. I just want to of you really need to like. Check yourself when you're climbing. Oh yes yup yup. Actually i just got back from this race. And i was signed up for the rock and roll. Dc half marathon which. I'm not doing it now. I was like well. I didn't know the elevation. And then i looked at it and the elevation was like over a thousand. At least i think and it was. I looked at it on a map and they were. It was serious climbing. And i'm like i'm done with climbing for the summer like i need a break. I need something flat. That is a confidence booster. That i could feel good. That i could get a good time like i'm done with hills not on the treadmill to triathlons. You don't want that fed and final ones Race to be something. That's just a feels defeating from the day of trading onwards..

Not the true for like francisco door was on this early about. We want on our side cheering for us but necessary. It sucks when the to this extreme and when you said what he said. I'm not to sit here sitting here in the morning by the way you pick number sixteen for the giveaway guy on twitter. Great point not only did you not big number seven. You pick number. And then say oh. We don't wanna fans boo. That sucks somebody. Should've whether it be the manager or whether it be somebody should've went to him at that point. Say look. I understand your frustration. Do not pick a battle with the fans and then it got to a point where they started the rat and raccoon stuff. It just started to steamroll to where we got to now the dumb but again i thought we were through this last week in l. a. when linder basically said i get it. I've been terrible offensively now right back to it before he came back from the i l. A. he talked on the field and exactly what he said he said. You can't come after my defense in my base running but offensively yeah. I'm right at the time. That i still don't like you don't come at. You can't say anything about my defense base running dude like nobody cares about that. It's about the problems you're hitting two hundred the key this year i mean while he's right about that while nobody enjoys being booed. It doesn't make anyone feel good. The idea of taking on the fan base is a battle. You're never going to shoot somebody you could see. This coming is my somebody within the organization of said. Don't do this very well. The way that anybody in the organization thought hobby buyers was gonna come out and say boo you along the way the one time he actually gets on base. I mean think about it. These guys don't even get on base to poke their thumbs down. That's why nobody knew about it for a week. What is that. By the way we've noticed you guys actually got on base a couple of time. So what is that with the thumbs down thing. We didn't notice it because you haven't gotten on so now i see you guys. It's so but what is that. can you explain it. We don't want to do the fans. i think. There is a camera on harold. What is he doing okay. I'm sure we're no longer be doing the math. You remember the story where he explained. Who matt deutsches the former producer here years ago at the fan and he put on somebody. I think he had so who called in. They said they were jeff. Wilpon building building a roller coaster wasn't obviously wasn't and georgetown. Don't you just like a high strong. Oh yeah oh yeah. I'm sorry i'm sorry youth. Come to my house instead of the night. Middays he and evans teamed up and got joe about new yankee stadium. Yeah right and you can sit next to hologram of joe dimaggio. We often yeah. We had that That interview so more. But i think that tape is burn long-term. Took that with him on his way. It had to be two thousand five something like that in that area. Because i just started out so anyway around but yeah that was funny. Never forget the conrad you come to my husband standpoint. Tough one because shurmur off. Yeah all right so anyway By says the mets made this deal obviously Perhaps envisioning a long term partnership with francisco. Endure up the middle. He is an impending free agent. And it's not looking great right now. I like i say i would love to play we francisco together but you know we'll see what happened. Go season one thing. That comes up often and this to me is is problematic as well what these two they never say with the team. It's i wanna play with friends. I want them roy. I wanna be a met. Yeah i i like my teammates. It always seems to be just one and one a. That's a problem. Them both gone unfolds on that one. Yeah i know more years then more before you know it you ten years. A-rod sign that that deal like. Oh my god we're going to watch forever now that's come and gone years and years. How louis being tenures jer Fifty seven. I'm going to be fifty two and ten years home. God mike can't handle. I can't handle francisco when door through the rest of my forties fifties. That's gotta watson doors taking you into your fifties men no right. We heard from louise ross. Earlier this morning he didn't know what the thumbs down celebration was all about until yesterday. Apparently he took a much more. Diplomatic approach to the whole situation understands the frustration of the fans. They have the right to react over. They want you know and and we we gotta understand. You know where they're coming from. We got our job is to be ready. Every they To give them the best baseball at the same time you did offer some support for by is the first time. He's out of another uniform right. So you seem probably some of these things. And he's time here and Probably that's why he's sharing he's bending but you know it's a learning experience wasn't door no doors doing the thumbs down to after the double whatever inning was the ninety ninth inning double sword second extra doing and if it gives them motivation actually get on base and do something. You shouldn't set it whatever it's just stupid the whole. I'm sure you can't stand the fans but no one comes out and says it like these guys. Well of course they care they don't care about the fans don't and they have no respect for the fans and the fans of the soccer's because they're the ones go out there and pay the money. They pay to go to the ballpark with the ticket. And they pay for the food they pay for the shirts they pay for the hats and jerseys and that's it i mean they to do and goes right into the fans the fans paying francisco going door to make three hundred forty bucks. It's simple as that. What is joey.

The fans paying for instance going door to make three hundred forty one million bucks. It's simple as that is. Joey said you'll come and go. But i'll still be here true to who the players he would say to the players into the coach's fan base. He'll say you really take this stuff seriously does have to come a point. Where enough is enough isn't it. I mean if you win you can't keep point of view ten years ago you'd see guy. Does he fifteen years ago. Guys making thirty five million dollars a year now playing in the nba making fifty million a year numbers were thrown that in the nba. By the way. I don't even care if they good for them. Make as much money as you agreed. Just go performance. And don't tell me what to do if i want to go to a game and you suck and i wanna boo. You make your money. I don't care about that. "You are well, Papa blood he is back from so fire will get a report on that. The good and the bad from Trey Lance and the rest of the preseason game pinch hit homers on Saturday for the Giants against the A's. That was pretty cool to watch. We got a great guest list for you as we always do. Many more things. Good morning. Good morning, John London. Who are you? I missed you. I am wonderful. I got to check my Fitbit see exactly how many hours I did not sleep. I slept so well on that road trip, and it was amazing to be back on the road. How really cool flying home on the charter? Of course. I didn't fly down with the team. I went after the Giants and met stay game on Wednesday and met him down there, but with them all weekend, obviously just great to be around and then flying back. Just so great to be able to travel. I mean, we're the first broadcasters to, uh In the Bay Area since the pandemic started to travel to and from Chair and I, um Fits and Dante and Dante did a great job. Listen, a lot of the games back and Hung out with kina quite a bit all week. But they did. They weren't on the charter. So just so great. The one caveat that I keep forgetting about is that San Jose Airport closest really early. That's right. We had to fly to SFO last night, which I did not know until I was Getting on the bus to go to the stadium, and I probably would have changed plans with my bags. But anyway, so we landed at SFO and then Buster. Santa Clara, So I didn't get home till about two a.m. and you know me back to watch the game back. Um, So it's fun so far, I anybody expect for Vice Bill Judd? Yes. So they're not as impressed. I thought you go am have impressed. I have greatly impressed. I didn't wanna gosh, last night on the air because Levi's Levi's but right? Dallas has always been the best. Um In Major league baseball. The new Yankee Stadium is just so different than the old place, and you can't replicate all the history. But the new Yankee Stadium and it flies out to right center. It's a bandbox. It's no longer the Big ballpark in the Bronx, but it's still Yankee Stadium. But dad, I mean, there are areas of that stadium that was better than Cooperstown. Because they have access to Yankee photos that you're just incredible. So that's like a museum, and it's unbelievable. And then Dallas. You know Jerry's the Jerry Palace, the Dallas Palace. Has been for years by far the best Um Al Guido was involved in building that stadium with Jerry Jones. And came to leave. I would leave ice here now, and I saw him after the game. He got to see more so far than we did. Although we saw a lot of it. We were, you should have said. Tim Ryan, myself and Kina trying to find the broadcast foods. We're like, we gotta get out. 18 different so unintentionally. You You saw a lot more than you thought you were going to see. Well, you know that bar so yes, it is Amazing. Yes, absolutely you ever made but it's it's five billion Dollars. And then you got the adjoining YouTube theater, which is part of it all. And it's all you know it's covered. It's what we used to have a joke when I first got to California I mean, They gotta They gotta dome this state. There's just occasionally you get a little radio. It was like this is the griddle. They've essentially domed that stadium. But It still has the open air feel. And I think talking to bill even before the game. Great NFL referee was there's a supervisor. There are some openings up in the top corners. At Sophie. But I think even like for the Super Bowl, you know, say El Nino rolls in and what the weather is going to be like this winter. Hopefully, we'll get we'll get drenched and get out of this drought and go skiing and Get everything back and growing cause it's way too brown. The Super Bowl is going to be there. February the 13th and you could get rained. Conceivably as they come in sideways, possibly, but I guess you could even shut that down and go full blown dome. But it's just so massive. I mean, you got 300 acres site. It's a little bit too big. It feels big. When you're talking right away. I get in a like a baseball stadium. I was counting the decks and the levels and it's easily five levels. And there's a couple that are Borderline luxury suites that you could say or six and seven in the middle, but we'll just say five. It is humongous. And you know that bar because you and I love bars foreign in Dallas. That goes from goal line to go line. That's 100 yards long. Yeah, well, they have those there, but it's all open air. It has the feel of a baseball stadium like Chase Field in Arizona. Levi's is like that as well. Or you can be getting a beer at the concession and still keep an eye on the game. This is even more so there, so it has. It has an amazing Open air feel. Which I just love. You know me when I'm home? I got every every doors open every windows open, and that's why he paid as you've seen, You know, property taxes and state taxes in California because the weather And you just so that they have captured the quintessential California vibe where it's just breezy and open. So yeah, for five bell, John, it's decent. And then he got the NFL network is right there. My son is bitching and moaning. It would have to move to the end. I'm like you kidding me. You're gonna love what lead to love working there every day. It's It's pretty good, so Can't wait to go back there on January 9 to play the Rams last game of the year, and, uh, February 13th Super Bowl Jersey, and that could be my 1st 23 trips There team looks pretty solid. Yeah, that would be cool. All right. That is that is the report on so far. I'm excited to get that report from because Yeah, it looks cool. You know, I like I said, I'm glad you guys are on the road. How much easier doesn't make it Because we've made tons of jokes about that Jets game all this different stuff, But I mean, just Just to have the game in front of you. How cool is that? What? Fantastic. I mean, And even like last year when the team got kicked out of Santa Clara County had to go down Arizona. You know, even our home games. You were going off the monitor. Yeah, So I mean, it's the broadcast location in that stadium. For us, and we were like the third team on TV because they have their 18, which is Chargers TV, with Spear, Adidas and lt and day and foul. It's nothing but Hall of Famers in that booth. So we were up, You know, like we're Washington's broadcast booth as you were there for Miami for the Super Bowl and a lot like Dallas. A lot like Dallas kind of been there. But I don't mind that because you can see offensive line play, but you're one end of the stadium. But I didn't feel too badly when I looked to my left. I don't think I sent you a picture yesterday. I gotta send it to you now you know it was staring at me all game last night. Mola Mola Mola. I I mean, I got it's not his right cheek, So I got the full. Drew Brees was getting to be like Oprah reaching around the booth and wipe it off. Crap off your face their true By the way, that's contagious Street. You may want to say hi to him and said, Like Jerica, they were doing a They were doing a practice game. Uh, so they were not. You know, I felt you know, we're so far away from the breezes doing practice right?.

I think two times that's happened since two thousand nine. The marcus tim's homer off. Jonathan pablo abundance. Hasn't ten which was basically. It's very briefly after. Do as a night and the mark to share a grand slam of joe kelley just a completely meaningless and of two thousand sixteen season already gone boring loss. How many times can you name the yankees How many games can you recall where they had a lead. In the ninth at fenway park recently recent history and lost only recent history. You got this one last night. Three one pretty bad very bad. Twenty seventeen year old is chapman walked the bases-loaded and blew a one run lead and they eventually got walked up. Andrew benintendi remember that very clearly 2016. They blew like a four nothing lead in its anarchist start and hanley. Ramirez walked off with a three run home. Run to dead center field. That happened two thousand eighteen. The three run lead in the ninth mcginlay do it with the throwing error the it and then eventually they got walked off. Of course they did. I mean that's four since two thousand sixteen fairly confident. That's not all of them didn't happen last year. There were no fans. Gary sanchez actually came back. In the ninth against the red sox. That was nice It's at least one a year. It's a kind of lost that should maybe occur in this rivalry once every five or six years the yankees brought an undermanned bullpen to play yesterday. There's no getting around it. It's chad green. Like let's start blaming people. We can play the blame game. And i will eventually get to aaron. Boone deserves endless scorn for what he did in the tenth inning. He managed the thinning leg fan. Who gave up on the game if you turn off the tv. When chad green blew the save. I don't blame you. I don't think i wanted to watch the rest of that game. But aaron boone managed the tenth inning. He turned off the tv when the key double hit the wall. Chad greens to save that game. So i am sorry. I am sorry at certain points about pitcher performance. Chad green has to save that game individuals have to make plays the yankees worked really hard to come back after falling into tie. They worked out of that weird inning better than i think. Most of us anticipated to get the runner at the plate. Tyler way admitted error that you can't really make in that situation but again he's tyler wade playing on wet ground at their base. He made the diving stop. Could make the plight okay bad. I didn't like it but it's three one in the night after the yankees fight back. Carlos stanton fights off an atom out of slider for bloop single credits to turn carlos dan. That's that is a rough matchup. If you're giancarlo stanton and you like to swing. It's off the plate..

"That they needed to rejuvenate these offences. So Chris Mad Dog, Russo, one of the great all time ranchers when it comes to baseball, he's got his own show on MLB network. He's got his own radio show. He was a diehard San Francisco Giants fan for a long time because of their time in New York and had one of the great Great all time great rants in 2003 from the Giants being eliminated by the by the Marlins. He's upsetting. I got the she said that the Yankees rolling through Minnesota, the pounding the Twix and the Giants can't get past the Marlins. They're yelling about the Marlins anyway. He was infuriated Wednesday night. We talked about this game earlier, the Angels against the Yankees at Yankee Stadium. This should be. I mean, this is a This is like a money ticket. Right? If you're in New York, you're like, dude, I'm gonna get Aaron Judge squaring off against Shohei Otani in Yankee Stadium after Otani hit multiple home runs in the series he's had pitching. He's out here hitting. It's not technically the house that Ruth built. It's the house that was paid for by the house that Ruth built right because it's it's new Yankee Stadium. But it's cool that sort of coalition between Ruth and Otani, and now he's in New York or so many great Japanese ball players have played and now here he is with an opportunity. To make history and Chris Russo is bad because the Yankees roll out their lineup, and Aaron Judge isn't in it. He's like I got the best hitter in this lineup, one of the most attractive players in baseball and an opportunity to go up against the toddy and you didn't roll them out there. He makes some good points here. It's an all time ran by Chris Mad Dog Russo about why baseball is in the funk. It's in and what's wrong with the Yankees? "I'm so disgusted by rick tittle that i find him very intoxicating. Thank you for that. That's fantastic lands available one. Eight hundred eight seven a play. One eight hundred eight seven eight seven five two nine the nba finals. I think are actually going to be a little bit interesting for once now. I shouldn't say for once. But i think it's you know whenever teams go out you start thinking about offseason moves. What went wrong. Who gets hired. You know we've seen some new coaches and such come in and go out and players who will be a free agent and we started talking about such things but one of the more interesting names is damian lillard and that is hotting up. Now why because damian lillard is under contract and he has not officially requested a trade and this story might never materialize and he just might retire as the most beloved portland trailblazer of all time. I mean who comes. Close clyde the glide drexler and bill walton would be clyde but he he might be one of the only superstar players who has a chance to go to. Aa mega team. And say no. Thanks right so i mean the spurs fans surely thought that You know kawai. Leonard would be that guy no. I don't wanna go to a super team Paul george held a massive party in oklahoma city to announce he was staying any left after year. Lebron james has bailed on cleveland not one time two times. I mean the list is endless. And i'm not saying about these guys. I mean i would wanna play on the best team to. I would want to make the most money and play on the best team and if you could do both. How great is that. That's why it bugged me when see. Sebastian was a free agent and There were some giants and as fans are upset. He didn't come home. And the yankees. The new yankee stadium was opening he was not the best team and the yankees offered the most money. I don't know if you've ever been to vallejo california. No offense vallejo. California is not beverly hills and a kid coming out of that town. You wanna throw an extra fifty million atom. I don't care where you come from. You take that extra fifty nine but anyway no team is safe. No no matter how loyal your superstar purports to be if your front office can't give him championship contention. he'll leave. And sometimes when they do give him championship contention they still leave looking kyri and cleveland. He hit that shot. I was therefore it must be my grand- horrible horrible horrible day but make no mistake as frustrated as lillard might be with some of the backlash he received from portland fans as a result of the the team's decision to hire chauncey billips as next head coach. That that's probably is what at the core of what's frustrating him right now because the blazers have lost in the first round four the last five years and lillard would not want to leave the blazers if they were still playing basketball right now. Teams built like the blazers. Rarely last this long. Into the postseasons i mean. It took some shameless bracket manipulation from the nuggets to get them there in two thousand nineteen and wants the warriors Escape their second round with the rockets. They made quick work of the blazers in a four-game sweep. You may remember and you. Can you can match lillard and mccollum with guys like gary. Trent and i'll freak me new but when you play in a in a world with durand and and harden and some of these guys on the same team together it's It's too much. And that's why some people think lillard might push for a deal. And i mean portland has very little reason to budge right. Lillard probably has the least leverage of any superstar making a trade request that i can even think of because his contract comes with three more years of team control and this isn't team control like baseball team. Control in baseball usually doesn't mean contract. It usually means our beers. So it's on the minimum. Well not on the minimum. But it's not backbreaking money so anything lillard has done. And by the way he has been a blazer for nine years. it's crazy. Lauren seasons in is he willing to take the dramatic steps that like a harden did to get out of houston this year. I don't think so. I mean anthony davis was quite willing to blow up the two thousand nine hundred pelicans just so he personally can get to the los angeles lakers. He just knew that He couldn't sit there through twenty twenty and be with new orleans anymore and he was willing to take down the whole team with them. Now you could say well. That's a bit dramatic. I mean they got the number one overall pick and they got zion williamson. Yeah but the thing is one of the turn offs of the nba for some people are these super teams. Because the way it's supposed to work as new orleans drafts the unit brow and then they draft zaylon and now they build something and now they've got a good team and then it's like not the league doesn't want that they don't want that go go to a market team and so i mean if you think about it how do the warriors finally get off a forty years schneide. It was from really three draft. Picks curry thomson green especially the first two. I mean they won their first championship without durant. The only guy that they had added of any marquee was the all star. david lee. Who got in with the knicks. Only because of an injury. I forgot who was hurt. But that's how we got on the all star game and they did a sign and trade and then then they start making deals they trade for andrew. Bogut they bring in a free agent like andrea gua dolla. And that was before the war. I was of the warriors knocked out denver and then the They hadn't taken the next steps yet. By san antonio so i mean you can do it on your own but then of course you had kadian. And then there's the there's the super team But the warriors were not a super team before that they just were a team that Thank you larry. Riley drafted splash brothers. So if lillard does ask out of portland he could land almost anywhere and there are some teams. I think lillard would have no interest in. And i would think out teams on the bill like the cavs and the pistons and the kings the magic the the rockets the whiz. You know the hornets There are some teams that maybe they could convince them to go to. But i mean there are teams. That don't have the assets for some of these For a guy like that as well. I mean if the nets are the jazz wanted him.

New York Yankees miss chances, fall to Jays in opener
"Let me take you to another one yesterday yankees and bluejays on a chilly day. The opener a yankee stadium. And here's the highlights from this one. Bottom of two one. On for gary sanchez and gary. Sanchez has left the ballpark sanchez. The first yankee catcher to homer on opening day in eleven years jens have a two one league garrett cole now doing the pitching and not well oscar hernandez oh no doubt about that drills one the left in the six that ties the game two and garett cold not pleased bottom nine. Same score winning. Run it second. Aaron judge of the plate. Can he be the hero on opening day. That's the question. The answer is no judge. One for five struck out twice. We're going to extras top of the ten runners. At second randall. Grischuk pool rightfielder. Aaron judge can't get it no. We can't sixty five percent was the hit probability on this. It's an rbi double. The run comes around to score and that would be the difference. Blue jays win it three two in extras on opening day. And so back to you jessica mendoza. What's your number one takeaway from the ball game yesterday in the bronx gary sanchez. I mean you've got to remember a lot of people. Were watching last year gary sanchez. You didn't think he was eating a start or be in this lineup for the yankees. Because how bad help awesome. He was offensively last year. Being one forty seven six four strikeouts tech eight teen walks. His biggest thing coming in was to be able to sit back behind the baseball. That home run. You could use feel the pressure. Come off of him. Why because there's so many other guys in this lineup. That when they struggle. It's up to gary sanchez. And he's the difference maker to me because you know when it comes down to aaron judge who also struggled with this game carlos stanton both of those guys are prone to injuries. They're not going to be in this lineup throughout the entire season and to the big piece. That's missing because by the way it is world series or bust for the yankees team. Gary sanchez has to step up. I know it's only one game but that run was huge
