How Will Stan Van Gundy Fit With the Pelicans?
"Was a few weeks ago in the ringer NBA show that at the very tail end of the show I recall you saying. Keep an eye out for Stan van Gundy and New Orleans and since we last spoke That came to fruition Stan Van Gundy was hired by David Griffin and the New Orleans Pelicans I think when this all started with the pelicans ouster of Alvin gentry. Through the. Face Tyler had a former relationship with David. Griffin, we talk about my Tony possibly because he had a former relationship via the Phoenix Suns with David Griffin but they do land on Stan van, Gundy as their next head coach when you saw that news come across the wire, would you think great I'm happy I think he could bring some accountability to the team in terms of how much they need it on the defensive end of the floor they were horrific. On defense this season in San Andy. Of course, infamously famously I'm not sure once said build an effing wall and that the Pelicans need to do and I look forward to see what he can do now that he's back in the NBA but by the way like he failed in Detroit because he was coach. Angie 'em now he's just a coach right and he was always a good coach. He was good basketball coach and it was one of those cautionary tales of. It is two different skill sets number one it also in many cases can be two different motivations right if I am if I am the general manager and the coach now let's say I make a poor signing or a poor usage of money will sometimes I may want to use that guy to prove that I was right about this guy right and I know that you Still get into that with with a front offices and coaches anyway, right in in everybody wants to be responsible everybody wants to be right about the move they made. But when you then you're not doing the scouting of every other team on a regular basis, I know you have scouts you're certainly not doing that with college, but it's just a very hard job to do twofold and. Another cautionary tale of taking that over I mean everybody wants that power but I think we've seen two of these guys. Now fact three of these guys. Now, all of which I think you would say were subpar to very below average in that role but. We respect them as guys that are on the sidelines as basketball coaches. That is their expertise in that is doc rivers who took on that role Tom Thibodeau who took on that role and Stan Van Gundy who took on that role and yet got hired as coaches though it didn't go well at their last stops. I mean doc better than the other two but we thought. Hires because these guys are good basketball coaches who were miscast trying to run everything for sure absolutely and ultimately it's another good opportunity for him when New Orleans area there even though they have Zion, they have ingram granted these a restricted free agent. He'll likely back matched any offer sheet or whatever This is still sort of A. Team right now that can go in many different directions depending on how David Griffin wants to build it out and I look forward to seeing the ways in which Van Gundy, Utilize Zion and the ways in which he tries to get him going off because remember you know before all the three point shooting, we've seen the last ten years or so that has. Exploded with the warriors and the rockets and all these teams shooting lot of threes, the magic, Dwight Howard at center and four shooters around him in the late two thousands with anti head coach and they went to a finals. We're going to be lost to Kobe and the Lakers The had some good run they some really strong teams and in with Williamson. With the New Orleans Pelicans, I know they want to add another they don't want to go like all small Wall. With Zion at the five all the time it's it's just went to work but I, think van Gundy's pasts and what he could do now with this roster, it's kind of exciting to think about the possibilities with the different ways in which they can use ion but most importantly though and again, this is like with all the coaching hires we talk about I am more interested in the personnel changes who they draft, who do they try to trade for? Who Do they try to sign I am WHO's coaching the team, but you know I'm excited to see if they're able to get. Zion, going and creative ways that they weren't able to do as much during the season despite his success he posted up a lot man I. WanNa see some more pick and roll with Zion I wanNA see some more creativity with him, handling the ball and running pick and roll, and that will largely come from other personnel changes that come to the roster that allow that to happen. But Hey, man SVG had success with some different types of teams in the past and I look forward to seeing what he can do here with him, and that team has a good roster they under performed badly. Made sometimes teams underperformed because you look at their roster and you go man aol have the goods like that team underperformed I. Think so too. I think of course it I mean look I mean Lonzo I think Lonzo hit one shot in the bubble well, even though they're young that defense was bad even though they had good individual defenders, they've jrue holiday one of the best perimeter guard defenders, Ingraham and Lonzo. They were good defenders of the Lakers. They were the last two years. They were good. They were not good defenders last season with New Orleans. And Zion I, mean he was horrific. He was so bad on defense. It was it was really sad to watch. This is the guy who is blocking three point shots closing out from the opposite side of the paint at Duke just a year prior, which is why people wonder how much of it was fatigue coming back but season how much of it was the injury limiting him how much of it was effort I? Don't know I don't know what it was but regardless. He stunk on defense, and all of this needs to change next season for this team to be anything that have any chance of actually getting into the playoffs it can't be all
Stan Van Gundy Hired as Coach of the New Orleans Pelicans
"Van Gundy is going to be the new head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans, and Van Gundy has had a successful coaching career. He has been in the playoffs every year, except one in every year that he's coached a full season. He is well, I shouldn't say that Up until Detroit he had made the playoffs every single year. He was a head coach and then missed the playoffs three out of four years in Detroit. So some of that magic had rubbed off by the time that he got to the Detroit Pistons, but he has Plus 500 win percentage over the course of his career in the regular season. 5 77. He's also plus 500 in his postseason playoff career at 5 27. You might remember. He originally was the head coach in Miami for the heat, and he had helped build that team into a contender they had traded for Shaquille O'Neal. Aftershock. Shot his way out of town in Los Angeles and couldn't coexist with Kobe. And going into the 0506 ease that they had just come out of the Eastern Conference finals, Remember? And so Miami was poised to maybe make a run of the N BA finals. He still had shack near a dominant portion of his career kind of coming out of it, but still still pretty dominant, and Dwayne Wade was ascending. And Pat Riley Bogard the team within the 1st 25 games, and either he didn't like the way things were going where the players didn't like Stan Van Gundy, But Riley swooped in. He was the GM swooped in, took over as the head coach. And rode it all the way to that. 06 N B, a Finals championship. At that point in time. Obviously, Van Gundy is now percent non grata in my Abbey, five. The job in Orlando gets the job in Orlando and gets them to the N B, a finals and another conference finals. It's kind of hard to believe, but the Orlando Magic within the last decade We're the en Bas Finals and Eastern Conference finals when they had Dwight Howard to the peak of his powers, and that was a stand. Van Gundy team. Van Gundy then got fired after a couple of first round exits and landed in Detroit, and we got all the personnel control Detroit that did not go well. As I mentioned before miss the playoffs three out of four years at the Blake Griffin edition, ultimately only made the playoffs once and got swept in the first round. So Van Gundy's abilities that he had in Miami and Orlando really took a hit in Detroit. Now he's become a very entertaining broadcaster. He's a great interview. He's smart. He's funny. He's self deprecating Stan Van Gundy. He's a really good listen, but is he a good head coach anymore? I've got my doubts because When he won. He had veteran guys that had already established themselves as stars or were establishing themselves. A star's already in Miami with shock and Dwayne Wade Wade was relatively young but still was Already ascending into one of the best players of basketball in Orlando. Same thing with Dwight Howard and company in Detroit. It was trying to fix it. They couldn't fix it. And now in New Orleans, it's a completely different challenge. That's a thing that has not accomplished anything. And they're all young players. And this is about the development of Brandon Ingram Specifically, and Zion Williams. Those the two guys the biggest potential on that roster logs, those good Alonso is never going to be with Ingram or specifically, Zion could be and science the big one. If you get Zion to the next level. Then the pelicans get to the next level. If he doesn't, then they don't and the pelicans enter the bubble after that long hiatus and had the inside track to make the playoffs and flamed out. We're going to know immediately whether Stan Van Gundy is a good coach or not immediately. He's a guy that can rub guys a little bit of the wrong way. He can have that Van Gundy hard ass attitude. He's very quick. He's willing to call you out in the media. We remember him and Dwight Howard uncomfortably shoulder to shoulder arm over the shoulder. You know, guys sometimes don't like you. And if they don't like it, you're out of there. If the pelicans missed the playoffs this upcoming season, Van Gundy's going to have to take the fall for that He's going to take the blame. There's a lot of potential on that roster a lot. And Zion is ready to explode, and Ingram showed last year the type of player he could be team him with his eye on with Alonso and the rest of that roster. There's no excuse to miss the playoffs over full season with the pelicans. Van Gundy better get them there, or else he's gonna look like just a really good quote and a good broadcaster. That doesn't deserve to be getting head coaching jobs any more after that, and Detroit

"Who's had an opportunity to leave in SF I WANNA stay The year after they traded demarcus cousins urology was a free agent coalesce. Signed A five-year deal course be part of it was a big chunk of money I mean that helps. Reasons but I think a big part of that was that he wants of being Wallis I wrote about this also in athletic that they did such a great job of making him feel like our family when he was going through is entire situation with his wife in the. Car She had and I think they disagree job of selling him on the franchise that he wanted to stay. Then last year trade that line the things you want horribly during the first half season. Of course, there's a super young roster, several playoff teams Holiday drew goals that are front office says, no I. Want to stay. Please Tracy I don't want to be treated. And Be. Going back to the Kyle repeats, you talk about think one reason why Kyle lowry Toronto has low so well is because Cao has embraced that city when others have it is true withdrew in world's he's embraced the when his missile easy for him not to just say you know what I'm career I'm ready to go in his exact opposite. That's something you WANNA sell to other people down the line at you WanNa bring into this organization. As see we can build with this guy and we can build a players that want to be here. We can sell them almost about the city good about this franchise off the huge also. a really good basketball here. Song much for the Pelicans. Insane. I mean people who tell me that they should trade him I look crazy because obviously you don't. You can't see what this guy does nights tonight on offense Vienna got get twenty gets to the pay create for others score in the fourth quarter again, anyone. These think he's the best defensive guard has been the past. I wouldn't disagree with you Ali he's able to defend. Bigger than him in rebounds that position years again, foul trouble like a Kyle lowry on certain nights he is a fantastic player does so much for the team and he doesn't feel the need for any type of accolades is not trying to get famous he's not doing all the social media antics be He. He's not out there demanded shots and he's the only a top notch by obscene. That's GONNA coaches. Hey please take the ball out of my hands. I don't WanNa be the guy creating every single time. Now you like it he's one of the most unselfish great players I've been around and. That's why he's so beloved in that. Locker Room and I think a personally, there will be a saying the trader. Teams on up throwing packages added and they. Certainly is at the heart attorney allied is Miami wanted to throw tyler hero at the Pelicans I might be like. Sorry drew. Elliot. Thirty on. MPG. Thrown out there I mean incredible asset. You might have to say goodbye Dru but other than like a really great you on asset like that I think would drew brings to this team is too valuable just a trade him for a couple of picks. Just because it'll be so difficult to replace what he brings not just off the court but on the court as a guy, who's the best two way players in the league yeah. Most definitely and I think it's funny too because especially when we talked a little bit about being small-market knocking in coverage that that it it may be deserves especially I. mean this year has changed a little bit but I can really relate to that in..

"Tell you one hundred percent certainty that Brandon Ingram will be running elegance Jersey next year if we have NBC's who knows with the way, things are going easy. Or if you have an NBA season but whatever. D I will be with apologize you'll have a huge contract they know. They know he's going to be a part of the. Big thing for him was not only getting in a situation where he was going to have more opportunity I think when you play under Lebron James Your opportunities always going to be limited. especially. Mentality was last year versus issue a big step in. It's a situation where light was a lot lower than wasn't la up the expectations for him was so high coming into the Lakers they they give him Kobe Bryant Locker at the draft the. Big Media everybody's comparing him to Kevin Durant a you're doing it in a market like also Angeles you gotta remember again going back to where this conversation started. These are real people. So brand negatives the guy that's comes from Kingston, North Carolina this little small town small town kid wanted his lobi school. He goes into the situation is red hot attention with the Los Angeles Lakers. A lot for him the deal with the NATO the injuries on top of their, he gets a blood clot whose last year in the owners drama GonNa Trade him for day was not and I just think putting all add behind them. They get into a situation where he can just focus on basketball and like I said before Astra cares about more than anything on planet Earth Math off basketball working on his game. That's all he wants to do all day every day come into a place like New Orleans it allowed him the. Refocus on what's most important to him and I think he he he loves the situation he's in was I think it's a perfect fit for him. Is Personality a big plan next I like science when it takes some of that attention away from him in allow him just a flourish in Whoa, that fits him odd things going to be a perfect fit for bi going for his future. Yeah. Most definitely, I'm really excited for this team in where they're going and I think speaking on another guy who was involved in that that Lakers deal Josh heart is someone I I really I enjoy washing play I'm I think he's just a really interesting role player obviously gave us like the greatest gift in in the NBA Sportsworld the season. He makes. No the one where he liked does like that weird face, reserves look. I don't remember which game that was from, but that I assume that as a reaction, you all the time and. Leaving them hanging or I. got like every week, Audrey so funny I still have to get around and listen to his podcast but I know it's probably really good..

"He's always really a very even Keel Kinda guy but a few months later he kinda in it that that was the first time. She really felt like he made a play where he felt like old Lonzo walk. Kind. Of Down downplayed his ankle issues coming in New Orleans, it was something that you know forcing half his last year with the Lakers and I don't think he was really right you'll start the season of the he was healthy enough to play, which will you come back from a real serious injury really feel like yourself until you get. Under your belt and I think he needed just kind of get his legs underneath. In once he made that play a Congress I. Okay. I. Feel like myself again I feel like I'm healthy I think from that point on, you can look at the stats around Christmas trip. He was a different guy. He was drilling threes forty percent Getting a ton of up helped a lot. Back because they have such a great on a sloppy math went on Lonzo is great in. The Way He worked was on me Zion job a lot easier coming in trying join his team halfway through and it Kinda built identity without him. And I think for whatever reason that his just hit is is wasn't there and it was just was stained guy confidence was shown jump shot was a fallen on still a believer in lots laughing measures the widow guy works I the. One thing I learned this year was that he's extremely hard worker human be our guys live in Jim. Constantly, they had a routine ill go on road trips. Go back to the hotel room, bring their bags of stuff immediately the Jim Start shooting it would be that every road trip up. In Gym costly. Not think that mentality is WANNA. Get him where he needs to go I feel that way about you know as well. As stuff that you might not like here and there. But if guys will put in words in address, the issues in game think he'll. They'll get there and I'm a big believer in Lonzo and I think that Hannibal Humans I. We're going to be seeing for a long time in New Orleans in a guy like Zion niks alignment at all, I think not. Real Future Woods. Yeah I agree and I mean his defense as well. Man I. Think the his defense in the the level of intensity brings on that size. I liked most about him I mean I think he's just a phenomenal. All round player. He's got a lot of work to do in my opinion half court offense I think is still going to be a thing for him that he's got to work on Just..

"I'm like do twenty, four, twenty, five years old I'm I'm not even twenty four yet. I can't imagine trying to make the decisions that he had made. You know and obviously he could have handled things differently but. It's just like we lose the fact that these guys are they're just like me. You know like they get paid a lot more for sure and they do a they do a much more. Prevalent job but yet no, it's just a tangent. But yeah I I. Really appreciate the way you put that and I think working in the business that we do. I, think you know I have the fortune. Round these guys are not on the court when they're just kinda sitting around with slick zone after practice. So when You get on a bus or you'll ask them you know enduring they're real human moments when our families thing it's easier to understand a human element. You see people outside of the arena you know so to speak and I think. It's easy to forget about that because these guys you'll look as I am when he walks in a row looks like a fricken gladdy. Right you jamming he's one of the biggest guys I've ever seen play basketball and he's able to do like three, sixty, win and stuff. It's crazy. But then also seen her when he's liking pizza after a game you know. A novel do laughing at stuff on twitter. So I think you gotta remember that as great as these guys are at this individual skill. They're still people ended is still go through normal humid stuff and I think we've got a recognized. Namely Paul George because he's geysers was going through the real humid stuff in a bubble in plates. Terrible basketball with I don't think that says anything about him as. His entire career who is now? His team through a real human experience you gotta learn from an adjust but I think at times I. Guess Loss because people are so fired up about sports and we lose. People involved here yeah. Exactly and speaking on the biggest human being seen for I I worked for the Michigan. State football team. For season when I was when I was going to school there and a melodic McDowell I don't know how close you are with football or like fall hope I. Don't know where movie plays or not thinking got draft by the raiders I can't remember. But by far the most towering dude I think I've ever seen in. So I, was a student manager not officially excitedly still I mean. It was too soon manager, but I ended up getting hired fulltime job. But so we run drills and I worked with the dealine lot and luckily I never had to play quarterback 'cause I could not throw because my shoulders up. That's my excuse. So I don't know I, don't control but actually another Sassari off the I I don't know if you remember Connor Cook he was great quarterback there. I threw a ball in practice to to get back on the other side of the field and I almost kneeled Connor Cook in the head right for the NFL draft never allowed throw bought practice again. But But. So, Maliki Dow he would just fall on just line the student managers play quarterback like it wasn't like malicious way but it was just like it was live snaps every time like it is monstrous man I'll never forget the first time I walked by that guy was. While I really do feel five foot eight right now lake. It's seen some of these news out in public sleep..

"Everywhere revolted science. I I'm hearing stories. From people on staff saying they're getting in road trips hotel want to in the morning in s fans lined up outside the hotel. Just to see guy, it's crazy because when you're around and I mean, he's the nineteen year okay. He jokes around he loves the to be honest teammates tell everybody this he handled the attention as well as I could any nineteen year old hat would be in addition I know if you put me in that position. To count me out man. Over the past two years. But still he's just a kid you know and just to see how much attention he's. He's getting in how he's handled. It is been a wild story, a the fact that he sat out. So long kind of built up the anticipation even more because we will wait. So long to see him in the had to wait a little longer, you know knows what some? Be Christmas. You'll be beginning of January A, what is the all of Minister Station where he comes back. But I think that's The two things. Awesome How much attention he drew in all fans that constantly around on and how well he was able to handle that attention not really let it gets his head and he was able to relate his teammates and you know be insightful when he Talton. Interview. To see how well he handle all at. Such a young age. Yeah. Yeah. No I really appreciate you putting like that because I think some of them that I try and look I I wasn't Great at basketball or anything but I was working on on a pro boxing career before I got into writing and got back into school and I didn't even come close to dealing with the mass of these guys rate and. I'll just never forget like the first time that I fought in front of like a couple thousand people in it was just like it's terrifying almost like and I'm sure you get used to it with more time. I never really experienced that a second time Adults injuries. But. I had people doing me like I was like I don't know you people you. Like this stuff like that like I think we get so lot. Well, not not not everyone, but I think in general there's a tennis use lose the like Zion's nineteen year like you're talking about like that's ridiculous. The amount of stuff that that he was like going through in trying to experience is first time really being in there. Obviously I mean he dealt with a lot of that a duke to at an even higher level in the professional stage I think about that too a lot with you know. I think I try and be a lot more players centric than than some people are I mean Paul George is not a name that you you. You hear in a positive note often in Indiana right. Actually don't think I've ever gotten more hate than when I wrote an article about how people stop doing Paul George Fueled House. Decide. Thanks a little tasteless but I mean I look back at him to..

"But I think you know fish is a guy who's been look at a several teams around a release. I think for him. It was more than just walls of the he had a couple opportunities. Throughout the Lee at least Minnesota has looked at him in the past or and obviously like you brought up Indiana as interest now him so I think he's that had a few different options elegance. WanNa go with somebody has more familiarity with Griffin inch Trajan Langdon. GM. been fit even though they have this one year together they have that history as some other candidates have its High Lou Kitty Atkinson someone does is. They. Guy Who's highly respected around the league being around for the past couple of years I think the guy sees the game in a credible way on the offensive the way he's been able to mesh all these different pieces you gotta remember he was brought to. Make Boogie in a word advantage. They have any at different changes we've seen as roster go through since then in the end, no matter what they've been taught pays top five and assists you know the growth, the franchise record for three pointers this year. So the guy knows what he's doing and knows how to put an office packers together to make the pieces were just thinking about finding the situation where he feels comfortable it feels that security. Guy Jumping into that I head coaching Opportunity WanNa go somewhere where you feel like he got planet in. Yeah. Definitely man doesn't Etienne. Boogie getting paired together feel like five or six years ago already that was literally two and a half years ago and that feels like forever like I'll never forget I was so excited for that too like when Boogie I came over unfortunately at his injury but man, they were so good together at the While of that team and played Ameritech was playing the three like thousand a weird team but man, it was fun to watch. It was unbelievable. Because he has not so much people forget man guy was so good when he was. Using. Not Year, they traded for him but the year after we got the full training camp innate bring in. Rondo off bringing some more veteran is Kinda help it young? Development end like I said they brought soap somebody issues office If he stayed healthy and they could've went into the playoffs with Rondo was boogieing Avian frontward drew holiday defendant on a map they could have been really dangerous especially if they got the right match us. You know unfortunately injuries ripping far. We'll know what the recipes on it looked like it's really unfortunate. Yeah. Yeah. Unfortunately injuries have been a huge thing for New Orleans on since I've been watching basketball and obviously during a time there in Even now new this year So I I wonder you know obviously, we have to talk about Zion..
New Orleans Pelicans fire head coach Alvin Gentry
"Announce a firing of head coach Alvin Gentry Saturday. That was gonna happen. Who knew everyone could have seen that coming in five seasons with team. He had a 1 75 into 25 record and only made the playoffs once during that span, and during the bubble, many picked the pelicans to grab that final playoff spot out West. Team underwhelmed significantly and finished with a two and six record with an abundance of young talent. The pelicans job is one that most coaches would love. The snag. Some names being thrown around include Tai lieu. Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson and Lakers assistant former Bucks and that's head coach Jason
JJ Redick On Life Inside An NBA Bubble
"J. Reddick from his standout college basketball days, a Duke or as an accomplished 14 year N B, a veteran now with the New Orleans pelicans, But he's also been an avid podcaster over the years hosting shows for Yahoo sports and the ringer. Now he's launching his own podcast with co host Tommy Altar, where he speaks with everyone from politicians to fellow players. Here. He's talking to Damien Lillard about life inside the NBA bubble and isolated environment at Disneyworld, where the N BA is playing all its games. What are your early impressions of playing in the bubble? I was like, man, I don't know how it is. Don't work. I don't know who's going to show up interested who are being shaped like what is it going to be like? So
Orlando Magic's Jonathan Isaac explains why he didn't take knee or wear Black Lives Matter shirt Friday
"We had an incredible opening weekend of games name a star level player that player delivered at least once if not twice over the first three or four nights of the NBA's restart here in Orlando, we had crazy comeback wins. By the Houston Rockets, we had a dominant performance by. Jaanus over some little pesky pip squeak team from New England I forget who they might be. We got Marcus smart got fined for trying to work the officials. We've got storylines upon story lines. The clippers bounce back from their loss to the Lakers. Looking excellent and just throttling the New Orleans Pelicans. There's so many different directions that we can go Michael that I decided. Here's what we're GONNA do opening weekend heaters we're GONNA have just open ended questions are we're going to ping pong back and forth you give me your answers I'm going to give you my answers to these questions and try to cover as much ground as possible before we get there though I do want to double back quickly on the national anthem demonstrations that we touched on last episode, we got so many thoughtful emails from various members of the open floor globe on this subject, but I think there was a major development after we spoke on Friday. and. That involve Jonathan Isaac Meyers. Leonard Gregg Popovich Becky Hammon and one of the NBA referees all deciding to not kneel to not really participate in what had been in unified demonstration on Thursday. All of those people who chose to stand were obviously doing it on principle and they were doing it knowing there was going to be a lot of attention their direction. Now, if you look at Popovich amend the referee essentially, they were trying to just say, Hey, I support the the Social Justice Movement it's it's a private or personal decision for the referee said look I it's important to me to stand Meyers Leonard made a similar comment. Essentially. Saying that his brothers military service in the in the military service of close people in his life led him to WanNa stand to salute the flag. But within Isaac was a slightly different case and he actually used this entire demonstration opportunity to almost have a one man demonstration of his own. In his belief, the idea of the black lives matters movement quote unquote doesn't go hand in hand with supporting black lives. He also said that you know we shouldn't be necessarily judging things solely based on skin color that we should be trying to live a life basically you know in God's mold and try to live up to his standard, and that Jesus Christ was his personal savior and and that he wanted everyone to focus on that. Aspect of of living rather than the particular issue that was being brought forward with the black lives matter movement by the players he didn't really get any major pushback. Within the NBA Community people respected his right to make a stand. He actually not only did he stand during the national anthem? He didn't wear a black lives matter t shirt which many people notice because he was essentially the only player not to do that his whole personal story Michael took a crazy twist over the weekend and sad twist when he wound up tearing his ACL injury that's going to end his time here in Orlando obviously but also could cost him all of next season. So now talk about a whirlwind seventy, two hours for player who generated millions of us with his comments about the protests. I'm curious. Let's start with Jonathan Isaac. What did you make of his decision? After we've seen things settle in the last couple of days You know maybe it doesn't seem quite as Eye Opening as it did at that moment, but I'll admit I was I was surprised to see given the buy in from everybody on opening night. Right, I mean I just WanNa Start and say that it it really really is a bummer to see anyone get injured but particularly is ICK who was already on restriction he was already playing with a humongous brace on his leg from a previous injury that cost him a majority of this regular season before it was suspended. So I just I feel for him greatly. I I think generally speaking. The coverage of who stands in who sits I mean we talked about this heading in anticipated it I. Think I think the coverage is generally besides the point and it doesn't really get the point I feel like people are using. This as an opportunity to shame those who are standing in a little bit I mean Meyers Leonard. said, he couldn't sleep before he made the decision to stand and that's just like not. The whole focus or the point here right like. You can obviously Support Black lives and also stand for the national anthem. It is a symbolic gesture that is what it is in the case of Isaac. I really had a difficult time understanding even what his message was until you interpreted it the way that you did I mean I watched the clip of Him Multiple Times survey there I'm GonNa just GonNa read what he said I and then we can use that as a jumping off point because I don't WanNa torture what he said earlier and I might have done that. So sorry for that. He says quote absolutely I believe that black lives matter kneeling while wearing a black lives matter t shirt doesn't go hand in hand with supporting black lives. I. Don't think kneeling or putting on a T. shirt for me personally is the answer i. Feel like for me, black lives are supported through the Gospel. All lives are supported through the Gospel. We all have things that we do wrong. Sometimes, it gets into a place of pointing fingers. We all fall short of God's glory whoever will humble themselves and seek God and repent of their sins. We can see our mistakes and people's mistakes and evil in a different light. Racism isn't the only thing that flags our society, our nation and our world, and he basically said he wanted this conversation to get out of the realm of skin color because the answer to all of our problems in everything that goes on in our world is Jesus. So. when I watched the clip. I'll I'll be honest. I was a little confused where he was going to after typing it all out trying to marinate on what he was saying I think he essentially wanted to have a demonstration on behalf of his religious beliefs and that this was an opportunity for him to say look you know focusing only on one particular group I. Guess in his view, the black lives matter group and you know everybody wearing a t-shirt doesn't necessarily achieve the wider goal which would be presumably healthy living. You know honest living you know Living which to him as a higher priority I think that's where he was going with his statements.

Some NBA players sit out the season
"Okay, Let's talk about the MBA there beginning this week in Orlando in Florida, which is a co vivid nightmare at this point. Some players air sitting it out, or they just saying I'm not going to play because I'm afraid of getting covered. Yes, Some players were sitting out because of family members that are at risk. Some players were just sitting out because they're not going to do it. You got key members of Seems like the Clippers, you know mantra. Is Harold sitting out Patrick Beverley sitting it out. You know, these are key elements of members of a lot of teams are saying, Hey, I need to Protect my family and protect myself and that's responsible. But then you've got other members of the Clippers like Lou Williams, who actually went back to Atlanta for a funeral. And then was photographed at a strip club with a rapper. He posed the rap, proposed it to his instagram, and then he quickly deleted it. And then he came out and said, Hey, that was an old picture of me and Lou Williams. I love him so much. I want to do it. But in the picture Lou Williams was wearing an N B a sanctioned mask. You know the way people were Matt five years ago that the MBA sanctioned know that he got busted in this thing. So now the Williamses basically quarantined for 10 days. He can't play in the first couple of games back. He just can't play in the 1st 2 games, one of them against the Lakers. So it affects the team and what the N B A is saying, you know, they had a squeaky clean record. They just recently tested everyone and had zero positive tests inside the bubble, But some players have to leave the bubble stars Ion Williamson, who's the big stars Big rookie star from the New Orleans Pelicans. He had to leave for a family emergency. A health emergency if you and they ask for permission to leave, if you ask for permission to leave than you have Ah, four day quarantine when you come back into the bubble and you get tested, But if you leave and you violate the rules, it's a 10 day quarantine and this is going to affect games. As we move forward as we're trying to set up, you know the best possible scenario where the teams are playing at full strength. This is going to affect
Zion Williamson Leaving NBA Bubble For Urgent Family Matter
"We begin today with news that Zion. Williamson has left the NBA bubble. Bubble in Orlando to attend an urgent family medical matter. The New Orleans Pelicans Zion intends to rejoin the team at an unspecified later date. We'll bond your thoughts on Zion leaving and what this could mean in the bigger picture, well Tony Me. The first thing is I hope this urgent family. Medical matter turns in becomes not urgent, and whoever this is, and whatever it is is improved better. So, that's the first thought and my second thought is. This is what people as they get older as they move from Zion's twenty today in their twenties, and thirties and forties is what we do it all the time. This is what deal with and players and coaches, and this is what your life becomes as you get older sadly, but necessarily the difference of course is this pandemic? The difference you you you normally you leave, and these guys have enough wherewithal to fry fly privately. If they want and most times they do and they they come back. Back and they juggle their tension between what is going on with their family member and ball, and they still have to do that, but now it's only you have protocol that you have to answer to, and you could be gone anywhere from say four days to fourteen days depending on things like if you're tested every day while you're gone, so we. We don't know and let's face it. There's twenty two teams in the bubble and not sixteen largely because Zion is one of those six extra teams in the NBA wanted to see him in the postseason. No question about that there's there's no reason on earth for the Washington. Wizards and the Sacramento Kings and whole bunch of these teams to be in this round, Robin and playoff to get into the playoffs in his created right because Zion, Williamson, second only in my opinion to Bron James as a television draw, and they WANNA. See Him in the playoffs. I Echo your statements that we hope that this isn't something traumatic for the family that should go without saying but testing the. The protocol by understanding correctly is you need to test on your own every day? In order that? When you come back, you can spend only four days out instead of fourteen. That's asking a lot of anyone when they've left the bubble to be able to do that to me. The larger question is, do you make exceptions know and to me for people like Zion and Lebron James who try to make an exception, but where where there is contagion, you can't do of course. By the Way Zion has team. Okay, and his team can help in that regard. They may have to send somebody WHO's in charge of testing. They want him air. No, there's no exception is the is the is the virus make an exception? Is the virus go? Lebron is gone, then look a little bit too big and strong for. Let me let me go over here. No, they're not doing that, so there's no exceptions, but you hope one that that this urgent matter becomes less urgent, and to that Zairean could get back quickly. Administer this I mean. The the Pelicans come on David. Griffin is not some dope going to do what they can as a franchise who support him and make sure he has what he needs to transition back to the bubble.

You're right right yeah. Every year he gets the best out his players in our area. I still got a great relationship with them now. So that was. That was a big factor actor to Saturday. I'm a Lebanon and he gave us a UH Taylor is examining so I'll put the big. You got like two early. Foul Fellow lucky because like the first one with the foul. The second. One probably wasn't a foul but they called us those happy so again it was at purdue upwards. How's how's the atmosphere? While they WANNA toughest places to play ever it's like going into a basement and dungeon and playing in the game because like you got to walk down and like Raina. They'll probably one of the lake. May rebound put the ball defense score or the best. That was just kind of reflecting your time during the house. That kind of help you know kind of you know Media Player you weren't a leak aren't elite sites like growing up of It was crazy so I grow a group of always one of the tallest one of the tallest Gas Class and you know being taller us. Ah automatically spoke to be played a post but I'll basically like a point center. I'm bringing it up. Airtime handling making plays. I never played in the Post Guard. The biggest biggest guy. But I'm always on the way and Sal Asia points coming down soon even threes and the isolate and isolate Tracy McGrady choice from grades. One of my favorite places with just one thing I noticed like man. He do a little bit of everything. He's six eight Eh. Handling Hsun he crossing over known saying he he opposed you if you have to fade away. So He's played. The point is really like a point. Four so Grown up right now or no major meetings. Just because you guys are mike sorry hyphen shit. We went so far with it. You can't stop now. I'm like cool. I can get a quarter in but whereas it we asked them every quarter like nobody noticed and by the end of that quarter beat up off man and it's crazy i suppose my shoes in and all of a sudden magically i got good again. It was like man and nobody ever talked about it so like. I never said that but you know heart. You know there's give exclusive true. It is funny because that was like y'all a i'll give ya so much critic because y'all play that also well bro. It was really like i'll forget. I think it was a media person. You try to start a bidding war or something like that like it was like that was the whole thing it was like. I remember it worked out perfect per like the real truth uh-huh scary i think i was i think i was in. I'm not sure if i was with you guys all day nike. Doing something and i run into you guys. I think i think we're at nike in caesar's and demos on the phone. I guess i talked with someone under armor and sending curry the curve and l. before they even like. I'm not sure what four released release and they like. I'm not like next day air to overnight it or whatever overnight iraq. Oh you guys ah i didn't know that because obviously the fans you know it's harder for them but for me not to know and i was like on the bench yada yada if someone can find him tapes zoom in on shoes zoom in on i wanna i wanna talk about shoes because like i said just i mean it was pretty it was unprecedented like people that had signature shoes but no one had ever like built their own from the ground up. What was that that process like from design to manufacturing manufacturing like is that something were you even like. Were you involved in that. I mean design part. Yeah i mean it. Was you know design an issue <hes> far as manufacturing go. I don't know i didn't go to the factories. <hes> i believe they were in china but i'm not sure how that goes but <hes> as far as designing your own style you know you can put whatever you want on their are use. Whatever fabrics who want and in almaty comes back the only thing i will say dow improve the technology. I mean just playing the nikes planning adidas and implant knows technology needs to be improved yeah but i mean once you get that now. You know you can do anything that's true. The look is one thing but people don't realize i mean what he does what their shoes contest standpoint. It's like you can fill it like the technologies. I mean like you said look. Obviously you want to look nice but as far as playing especially in eighty two games you know it's it's tough to shoot at. Can you play too. It's not like you're a big man jogging cutting you're going going on getting who are you gonna shoot. I can laugh yeah from unbiased perspective. What a summer league. Opener was crazier this year or your guys great question. I don't think it's it's kinda. Even i would i would probably say ours and and the only reason why i would say ours because we were like the first one to sell it out. Yeah and i think it was different from because vegas is like a four hour drive from from l._a. Yeah so if you look especially on the weekend the weekend games that we had it was crazy because it was so many laker. Burma communist is most it will go to see him. Keep it being because like i came people knew when i got hurt and ain't nobody know whose life nobody was going to see coups..

"Since you got in the league guys have always done stuff your own way. Whether it's like building your own company or it's really like taking whatever is kind of the status quo and flipping it on its head was that i know like from a young age like hard work and and everything was kind of it was it was like entrepreneurship and like doing things your own way kind of something that was talked about it just kind of start to happen yeah. I mean my dad. <hes> i mean since i know me always worked united house. Yeah you know he was his own boss. He was always farm on that. You know i want to do things my way. You knows my life <hes> so i mean when he saw i guess division that you know we had a chance to make it and just knowing that if we if we did make it we can own our own stuff you know. I think that's what pushed pushed the brand. Yes we're started because he was so big at home chino and we <hes> nobody knew what she was. We took to number one school in the country and <hes> after that that's when we really could do it. You know right now just to be able to own by nipsy. You know you you want to own your own stuff. You know if they're offering you x. Amount imagine what they're getting off off of that if they're giving you this you know so. It's pretty much bed on yourself. I mean at the end today. You know i'm on get our to put in and you believe in south. Can you believe in your work at the thing you can do it. You know obviously it's not easy you know. He went through some boston. Boroughs is still going through it right now but <hes> dan today. Do you think you can do it and he knows more power to you. Yeah i mean it's kind of similar on a much smaller scale thought process behind the podcast sure saint opera yeah so definitely you know you just kind of control your own narrative or you control in your own brian ended. The date asked what what it is. Is you whenever you do you think of you. Think of a what's his brand and you think those things if you think of myself. He took my brand so it's like you. Just kinda really taken a <hes> <hes> a firm grasp on that and be able to kind of take that into any direction. You really wanted to be in in this. I think is really cool and i think you got definitely definitely set a blueprint today. I think he would definitely kind of you. Know followed add in and follow. You guys past jefferson in those aspects i i <hes>. We just put the idea out. There obviously not perfect you know like i said we went through a lot still going through a lot. You know jonah figure things out but <hes> just to show people that it can be done. I think that's big. Hopefully the next people you took the shots in the chin for them so that they can have a smoother path. So was it a fellow. That probably not a answered. It's always going to be u._c._l._a. No yeah yeah. We sat on that you now. <hes> ben howland. Was there so that was a while ago on. Everybody's watching them all the time on t._v. We always watch them. Just being out. There and i always want wanna play for him. So what am i got offer committed right there. If you take a lot of say take visit. I'm so you down there all the time or whatever your house house already down there but he also committed to visit right after that was it i mean i committed i only offers from like damn washington and a yukon and you just knew you like i'm staying. I wasn't going nowhere so as i have now is very quick. I mean there's something to be said for kind of laying that blueprint and then sticking to it when you went to college those for the first time you lived on your own. I mean technically yeah. I'm supposed to say i was there but was your lifestyle can cause chino hills a lot. Nah i live with demo. We live in an apartment like i five minutes away so always over there and then college now. That was that one about fast. I mean i.

"I always always play like we play five on five. I just go yeah but i am practice like the ball handling and all of that. I'll look like i never played before and then we play five. I'm good again so i always never played in an essay. I mean we have pulled the bars in the backyard. There's there's some strap stuff. I didn't take it as seriously as i do. Now always just wanted to play down the amount they my dad laugher everything. He's done belva majors with working with me every single day <hes> being there for me to hold time. I'm a mom is well. Make sure i didn't slack off in school and <hes> uh. Let's see much very simple a lot of fun a lot of battles back your now. That's the only everything i had an older brother. Order says i'm just like one. I love how like close you three. Are you year and two brothers like i can just imagine within. 'cause i'd see like you see like instagram videos now twitter videos. I know there's no one. I don't really know gentlemen mellow mellow talk semester and <hes> so i can just imagine is in like the battles yard. The backyard is crazy and a lot of fun mellow only play offense. They wanna guard nobody and <hes> jello jello was super strong so i mean when you start backing down with no help douse his way out of his way to stay up in <hes>. I mean there's a lot of fun man. It was a lot of fine we always we was always together. We still like that and every time we in the same place we always together ashes. How was i feel like especially mellow to like being able to have two older brothers. It's a kind of beat up on you. The probably helped him so much over sure. I mean it'd be like just talent wise. He got the most talent by far. I mean is not even close <hes> and plus the he's getting now he just all of a sudden got two six six. I don't know how he was like five ten dollars playing with them. So i mean it. You know the the ceilings out for for him. The sky's the limit <hes> just making sure he's just keeps his head on straight because you know in today's world seventeen having many followers he has you know it could be a lot but you know i mean making sure he stays focused through the ground yeah. That's one thing that seems like you guys do really well. Those regardless of all the noise is happening around you. Guys is like a family as a unit. Just try and stay as before. I mean my family very close for my dad's. My mom uncles grandparents. We always like we all live. You've ten minutes from each other and chino. So you know you can pick up the phone anytime. Call anybody and i was just a good support system and that's just that's how he was raised. You know he came. Amo everybody. You know took a village you know he believes in that in <hes> stay.

"Help the team win and plus on top vegeta- injuries. You know just to be able to be strong enough to make it ho season. I think we'll help a lot that helping get into rhythm but i said i'm elliott a few games. You know some spurts but it was never consistent listing so that's what i want to get back to this year and just you know do it. I can't for the team. I said we got a lot of pieces. <hes> that game you know they put that team came together and i like the pieces we got. We got shooters. We've got people that come on. We got bigs. We've got people defense. That's the thing you know we can guard people. Don't get on the break is going to be. It's going to have to deal with us and i'm looking forward to it and you know like a new start. I've been playing l. a. My whole life lived here my whole life so some new. Do you know fresh and i'm ready to yeah. Obviously there's a lot is on you guys this year. But are you excited about being a bit of a smaller market whereas not quite as scrutinized believe that yeah i'll believe in a small market just because social media yeah. I mean you got play milwaukee. You know their number one team on a regular season so he was v._p. As well so obviously it is l._a. And new york but people saying small market. I think anybody can get seeing now just because social media runs everything about us out. I guess if you really want to be technical it is but it's like we're gonna gonna have so many is on us because of the new trade because of the new team because of zo because i am because drew b._i. Like like we just going to have so many is on. It's not like we're we don't really have that vibe of like worse moss city 'cause we have easily look at the media right. Now i mean we've talked about us. Lakers clippers there with you know in the media every day so i mean it's the same thing i i loved loved loved playing in the l._a. Market big market but it was you always had like the the frustrating aspect of it because it was was always even some anytime we were winning. It was always stuff was never enough. You know what i mean. That was only. I didn't like it wasn't i wouldn't i don't want i never never wanna say the word pressure. Could i don't think it's pressure at all but it's just like the most about saying we beat going to stay christmas day and we will like the man man like we were older going to be you know team to be in the west due to an end braga hurt and and you know things went down. I think it really went downhill when dogo her and then when you got hurt because when when we still had you before you went down to houston game we started things kinda in a fun in it without brian and i would go then you went down news like i. You got a three point three yeah so <music> but i think the market was always. It was always fun yeah at least but does is used to being best for sure growing up there. We always had the best team so <hes> you know it's been down for a couple of years. I mean obviously now spec up you know with brian and coli over there but i think they just want to be the best. Yeah and it's like if things aren't going how you want them. Do there's like six other teams to root for many years always undoing all the dodgers the clippers the kings. I mean it's crazy yeah so aw i guess you know in the podcast but we really wanna talk about in kinda. Give the listeners <hes> inside look about our guests kind of see there your path and see how they got to be who they are and you know their work ethic and etc so i guess kinda rewinding it and taking a step back and just kind of talking about your upbringing winging. You grew up keno hill..

"From kevin's underscore ninety three oh wow i think my favorite show was <hes> kobe's last game yeah yeah when you out and true kobe fashion almost like a kobe's eighty-one okay honestly that time that time <hes> tames harden your arm and then had the foul called on new that was actually pretty incredible to not gonna go gotta academy w award for that one. I'm trying to argue on. That's enough enough heart to heart for now. We got <hes> the last last thing we have two more things we have to announce our winter our thousand dollar giveaway winner and then we have to talk about our much anticipated guest for this episode yeah so i guess i'm going to start with a ladder. <hes> this was a fun one for us just because no just so lou obviously we both have a relationship with though and you know we were able to touch on a lot of things obviously his upbringing <hes> <hes> relationships brothers <hes> no his dad. You know what it meant to be be like to get drafted in l._a. <hes> tom the trade obviously brian how excited we both are to be in war liens and so it was actually fun just being able to kind of talk about it was it was funny. 'cause i think we talked about it in his pocket. I know i remember <hes>. Brazil went on a podcast. You know last last week or this. I'm no yeah. He went on big boy yeah and he and he talked about trade. It was just so funny we both like found out on twitter and i it's crazy because obviously the both of our agents you know were up today with everything in talk to us our way through the process s. and let us know kind of the thing that we're going on. If you know detroit is going to happen or what new orleans one eight etc but it was funny like the phone at the end of the final thing was like oh we both on twitter. It was honor so crazy to me so crazy to me. It was a it was a great episode in honestly i know for the fans i know you guys have been uh. You've been waiting for a while. We've been we've been teasing it. We've been we posted previews and you guys were on us. You're on our ass every week. Commenting whereas though we wanted to jog his episode bra and finally we hear you guys just had to be had be patient. Hopefully it lives up to the hype. Hopefully <hes> we we definitely have some good content. <hes> it was fun and and for me. It was really cool to kind of talk to him. In this i guess in this way i guess <hes> <music> but has been teammates for last several years known for the last several years but you can just see and hear how how mature he he's got from his rookie year two now and you can tell he really growing into being a man dan and really cool just <hes> he was never really immature kind of like certain things you kind of wish like like like you know be more aggressive in in this aspect go take more of your yourself into your own hands <hes> <hes> and not that he not that he didn't but you know he had a lot of strong personalities around him but you see him now just really being his own man making his own decisions on and off the court <hes> being aggressive <hes> in those kind of things so that <hes> that for me ever teammate and just as a friend you know that's that's beautiful wonderful to see just the growth that he has had and i'm sure you guys are going to hear that in this interview and podcast just how how much he's grown up in the last several years and at the end of the day what are you hopefully you all like them if you if you like them with don't like them or or whatever your feelings towards him is then the day you gotta respect them just for <hes> you know things you've been through the things he's he overcame and he they have a great attitude every day..

"Twenty. K. is like all right. I lost twenty k. so easy they they lose when they can win. The forty k. and it's like all like losing ten fifteen twenty plus by it. Doesn't me really need us. It was really game of big bang. Take little bank so don't do that. Are you. A closed guy khanna kinda like not super super but like i'm i tried to get into it but is it. I guess me personally. I'll say this don't wile out about it because at the end of the day they look smooth look presentable. That's stuff like that but at the end of the day don't compete with nobody because people are going to be making way there's going to be there's way more money than you negative way more connections than you and they got way anymore like way flyer shit lives like lists you look cooler presentable whatever but at the end as you say compete with russell westbrook no russet got a bag on and off the court so it was like you know he can spend far can alva- ain't nothing. You spent five canal especially right now that november fifteenth. You haven't got their first. Check yet so that five k. that's a big chunk of money so <hes> i would probably say those for our say. Stay away from like really limit and you get that nice nike portal going there and order all your oh shit flowers. I'm more like a comfy dress. More nice stuff is gonna be like especially being in new orleans to like. I don't think there's that pressure like l._a. There's kind of have like a pressure to like. Be look fly which is unfortunate. Also the only thing though say really like splurge on is like anything in your house anything in house splurge on that end of the day we we go who we travel so much and when we come home i gotta be home. I'd it'd be like our sanctuary where we did go to kind of kick back. Relax whatever like this. You spend a bunch of my on nice s. furniture nice confidence over that good bed spend five ten count a bit like the extra long like accustomed joint. Oh yeah i know i i know one custom cousin bid. I'm not gonna shout because they don't show me that much loved sponsor the episode then i think i think that's been like five counter-bid but it's like everyday use it every day. I got i wanna be i wanna be cozy because if i get in at two o'clock and i gotta wake week of it eight nine o'clock the next day i wanna i wanna go home. Go right laima ben. Go right to sleep and be comfortable exactly. That's the thing you want to be comfortable is there. Is there anything about beleaguer like day to day life that you've always wanted to ask or wanted to know but you haven't had the chance to. I know there's a bunch of free time by no oh you doing a free video almost want to play video games but but i feel like bash is going to be the main difference for me just having all that extra time like there's already been a difference for me. I've been realizing that like i just beginning boy i. I'm bored as hell. I'll really no and now it makes sense because because you just say you want. You came back from china. He takes me to thirty two a day. Talking about u._n._l._v. was like bro. I am not. I was knocked out six a._m. Workout the next morning. I work out a six. That's why was not up as two o'clock but <hes> no time differences. I'm not telling the the amount of free time is crazy. Dash dot com where you can relate started learning about yourself with this kind of figuring run out what other passionate you really have no you can you know read you can learn about new. You know different stuff. You can learn about business and the tech world so you can know you can play video game. You can cook like dude. There's so much free time for you to kind of really learn about yourself <hes> and learn about so what passionate besides basketball you really wanna get into and i think that's probably definitely one of the big differences in that because college. You have to go the class. You have to let the study study yeah. You got your really. Your days basically planned out for it. You don't have to yeah but you go now. If we have privacy ten so you get there eight thirty you eat breakfast. You get some shots before practice actor so little mini workout practice. Maybe get some shots up after maybe do a lift. You do all that one you done by one o'clock until the next day yeah so it's like you could go home. Take a nap. You can gain you can book you hang out with you. Do anything you really wanna do to probably our say really used that time to just kinda like it's kinda. Learn more about yourself and just kind of see like what exactly you want to due at the end of the day. The baud ball is going to start balancing at one point and you got a dentist i i would i do after that so then you can kinda start doing that. Start thinking about that plan if it had now so then you're nineteenth say you're you retire at thirty five. You had good sixteen years in the league dennis like oh i. I really know what i'm going to say. You wanna do commentating you. Can you can do a podcast. You can do go on different episodes e._s._p._n. And discard those sales in this be like i wanna i wanna be a broadcast here. Here's my stuff. This is what i do so yeah. I was just kind of use that time. Learn learn about yourself and learn what you're passionate about and the cool thing about the platform that you guys have as n._b._a. Players you can take that passion and then like use it to generate revenue actually build a brand for yourself like gaming for him to start off like hobby and now you're you know you're making bread off at you're probably the most well known game in the league and you're actually like you're definitely the most you can you. Though i basically get a dog we we can get now. Did you bring your debris over here but it's the hotel i'm bestsellers. We all care so as i go up on <music>. I'm i'm with you. I'm doing nothing into. We got another podcast. I can't really our a little bit worse than me no better than you but her too so what we do is discarded lionheart atten- we asked to say we ethic guest the same questions every every episode it is. It's not really ratify was kind of this away for you know the guest to learn a little bit more about you. I guess even though they did a our interview aw but so i guess kinda start off larry ten by was your biggest pet peeve but he was their fleet groupies and fake people makes me really man. You're gonna take you along labor. Your yeah you definitely you keep dashes because there are so many groupies fake friends that you're gonna the heavily silence. That's one thing i was very an added girlfriend. So you know i'd be challenged but i was very disappointed because i heard an illegal yeah. Oh you know you you walk into the hotel lobby. You know people everywhere you know. Groupies girls do party. I club guys aren't gives you know they were there by. These weren't talking to you wrote. They weren't her that a two day. I was so disappointed but yeah no definitely keep w._b._z. Happens more like the big events like all star weekend and like team u._s._a. Transplants the only sign up that's but that's a good one biggest fear biggest fear clowns so you haven't seen it. I like i like scary movies by hate clowns like when i see a clown in person i'm scared to go back. Fears birds then clones like little birds like birds fly you big as a skit a bird. I got attacked poland while great ever since i'll be petrified of various very subtle dude. You'll see me on campus. All these birds flying straight pat. I'll be duck in target so so <hes> <hes> basket clown but i'm just going to be like like you'll be ready. Be ready at. I'm gonna just keep on beyond. Its o'clock really petrifies me your favorite cartoon growing up for khartoum ruin up oleszek owen. I wanna say finish for really you know the theme song by heart by heart by saying but i do i know ratio one hundred four days and i question sometimes for i guess because like i it's either like oh yes bob was very positive or as i assume that over i can't really relate to or a young i like finish on for but it was i was like i was like starting to grow up a little bit. Yes oh. I didn't really watch spongebob was a main one for me. See my mom. Never my mom. Never let me watch funds but i i watched. I watched spongebob like whenever i was anywhere else over but in my house i watched my mom just didn't like it. She's he's done like what what was so bad. She had bad connotations and stuff was at friend's houses. I watch my cousin's house house. Never at the curb now. I'm not gonna lie now to like that does not. I'm older and i know auto references. I cartoon gentlemen they dams during his in as we thought they used to be abrode not as innocent at all. I've seen so many memes and stuff like like it'll be like oh definitely this this flu of my when i was a kid mr crab losing bikini bottom like stuff like that. It's like it might not been like the the intent ten but it's like oh. That's kind of yeah and they said pearl wasn't his daughter. He was actually her sugar daddy that it's i don't know i okay. I can't childhood celebrity crush. Oh megan fox megan fox from former someone else that megaphone have you got fox from transformers. I'm not who's your who's fi- i had i was meagan good and then now kalani. I love my was. I don't know if did you ever watch boy. Meets world took panga. What superpower would you want. <hes> i'm like a super power like what superhero would be like. Superman has powers but like if i wanted to give it give us. Both what superhero hero would you want to be. I guess what would like if you have any superpower. Were you want probably like fly like you're a little bit faster and yeah. I can just like kind of hide in basketball. I just be like oh my god that'd be a w is going to give you actually the way our blocking you that little extra. Thanks to describe your duncan. Some really is true. She's he's got like a little bit a little extra. If you could switch lives anyone for a day who would it be. <hes> probably lake aac loki bill gates see as soon as infinite bread but that just by a bunch of stuff go to a bunch of different crazy places his money because i'm for today's i gotta do i'll. I'll say definitely put a little wire the wire near to be a bogus little wire to j._r. Bank accounts art not and then it got to be a bit expensive extended to my checking account chances direct deposit you know and then we're gonna get really just cash really cash venema them. Oh yeah pajama m._o. Into what profession other than yours would you like to attempt <hes>. I wanna get a real estate related like flipping houses and tell us residents of real estate is probably a good place to do that. It was a good spot start. That's actually i'll probably if i do start off by star in austin though just because the state tax on a bunch of people are moving and i went there so a bunch of people like me..

"Record is old and you came in the only thing that pissed me off bro 'cause we didn't we had we lose corey brewer brook lopez. It's not that literally like well. What is your dirt but <hes> besides that most of the young guys so they wanted a older guys and we had larry to in j._c. So i was like the fit otis on the team so as a rookie hannah but the only thing that pissed me off about because we got we got off easy really must have to do your had a <hes>. Give food for the plane new stuff. I may give rise every now and then someone needs something like a flight and our baio. You run to best by you know. Get some headphones or whatever and come back so stuff like that but the only thing that pissed me off was b._i. With cinder like rookie me bro like b. b. I was had was like yo- ne- like a couple of jacks. I remember in cleveland bro so yo. I i need a jacket for tonight. I was so sick broke because i was on the phone. I was phased on madonna then <hes> when i was in the mall because he stayed we stayed at the ritz like like week more used to go out there as a kid so hours. He talked selected the debut the morning game i need. I need a jacket for tonight. Some i'm on some louie. Our law like we says moore shaaban avenue b b nineteen at a time. I'm twenty two years old. I'll facetime and donovan. Dom is laughing at me. He's two who years younger than you and use any like going shopping for him and i was descending. I was so sick i i would not gonna do. I wanted this towed tone. Adamant is and just walk away was heated but that was the only thing i made naik. 'cause we got off. We got off easy but i was the only thing that pissed me off bro. There's a you do that because one is is kinda like initiation into the league konaga type thing but i you know guys always good taking care of like you might have to go. Get shake shack for the player and you know it'd. It'll be like one hundred fifty dollars then some. We'll give you give you five hundred dollars per per redeeming like five hundred. I mean you know eight pig so on of us you but for me i was. I was in over thirty picking that check come a little slower. Some dislike held yeah. I i went up fifty on all his height and they wonder what the hype about. It was definitely t._v. Tomlin's brian shallow to thank you signed. A new contract is all season but like t- t._b. Was a he he got. He got paid very well rookie year but he was he was a second round pick pick so he wasn't he didn't have to guarantee money didn't make much money as the first on pigs did but you know the money's always there for us always i he'll do stuff and he'll be like you know be will break them off and it'll be good so this is the only thing now going on a tangent right now about it but at this reminds me because t._v. If you guys don't know tom tom o'brien is like the one just like a he's hype as hell like no matter what like he'll get he'll deng. He's gonna let everybody know you donkey yelling for a zion but he's worse. Oh yes cheat them. All my god yes exactly like i'm valid always high. If we oughta don't know i think he signed a two way with the with the pelicans and he was with some league team but like if they do something in the gym day on that you know it doesn't matter if you watch like you sound like on the court or you're in the nose bleed or you're like watching another game. You're gonna know they did something. You'll know you might not know what they did but you gotta know that this is so t._b. Grabbed a rebound bound one of the games. It was like one of the games on ios. I give me that shit. Luella rebound of rebound like stared down. He jumped overdoing grabby. Have you looked at the dude and the game was just about over the part of the game. He got a tech bro. You would've thought he lost his dog where he guys so sad broke. Tell us twenty five hundred out of five hundred bro. I never seen someone go from mm zero to one hundred i know seeing some will go from one hundred zero so fast before in a game he literally give me a shoe new tech. He was like he didn't say anything for the next three minute like last name. Is that a game like dennis say a word. He walks into practice next day trying to make the money back. Anybody's gonna run a but toss five zero. Yeah exactly you got. Did you know that makes no running. You know these handles skittles. Let me know go do it but now i i'm. I'm gonna do a little bit. I'm am i gonna do too much am i. Am i gonna do the most he'll be like my lake. I'd be like my car because he's so obviously dairies and each one john and jay day so those are the main guys being. Let go ahead of me doing shit. I'll tell you that but nigga nikita nikita. We'll get the most because the gar is you know he's going to have to do a lot of this stuff and you got the more older ones like he. He got d favors so they would probably be his debases court. Do <hes> zion too yeah. You're probably to lure whom i dare to seems like a good bet there but it'll be funny because they don't wrong future franchise whatever you wanna say but definitely gonna get his ass. Is that how it works in the league doesn't matter how much you'll still see it doesn't matter because at the end of the day i mean you'll be hurt blue he might be he might be hurt too but you gotta do it. Oh and i'm telling you that if if you have to if anyone says on do it it don't matter if it's like now i'm getting popcorns. They tell me. I don't want my escalade popcorn you just you're like if i forgot who in while tell you we. I used to talk shit to my vets because i honestly really. I just didn't have a vet like mess around with me a little bit but i was really it. I brute in having do nothing. Luau didn't have me do nothing it was is i was i was living life. I was good but i talked to my do. They want to bring him a towel. After practice azra game they wouldn't give him a towel that he wouldn't bring brings something or if they bring donuts defunct the donor order up and it wouldn't be the same looking at y'all like y'all swe doing nothing because if you see a lot the videos if you don't do your if you don't do your rookie duties or you don't do whatever it is. It might be as simple as bringing your towel putting a talented onto tear at the end of a game or something like that if you don't do that after a game. You're going to try to get into that. They're nice car. You got escalate eight or it might be rain or whatever it is gonna be able to get in for a minute. Can i think there'll be filled to the roof of popcorn. Is tommy. Tell me to be straight. Did you get up yet. I just bought my car actually yesterday. Yeah twenty escalade leases to buy the tencent money man. I see a big guy he. He could have gone way more crazy than that. I'm i'm happy because the roads the roads bad down. There said the roles hold on don't think about that yeah oh yeah the roosevelt and always flooding sound like you know i'm gonna give me a big. Eh job in a restaurant gone away from. I am my benz on. I'm sort of getting a range because i'm not the rhode terrible new orleans if you're listening would of mine repair and libertyville rose over there but we were <hes> we're talking about. Just kinda like your guys is age difference and obviously you're nineteen. I was looking at you. Josh and i was like yo when you were nineteen. You didn't even necessarily know if like if you were going to be in the league and then jackson and you're like i i didn't even know i was going to be in the league so like a year ago. You were going into your freshman year at texas thought you were gonna maybe redshirt you weren't sure leg and all of a sudden a year later later year you know the number pick talk summer league. So what how do you even wrap your head around around where you are and when did it like. When were you like okay. This could actually happen for me. A <hes> yeah like really around this time it was like in the summer like swimming close with tom about like red shirt and then came in he let me rock a little bit the first game and then after that like i started taking off and they start producing more and more he's game and then about the north carolina game last year's around thanks it was thanksgiving day whereas north carolina in vegas and <hes> snapped a game and then after the ice on my new draft board i was like crazy i can actually be a one and done and then yeah how did coach take it like was he was he the because i feel like some coaches are probably really cool about it. Others are like not coach was all with like this. I mean obviously obviously he wants to stay home but <hes> i. He wasn't trying to pull me in any certain way. He's just giving me his honest vice with everything which i mean <hes> <hes>. I feel like guitar for people to do that but i mean close smart did it was cut when you were tested. The waters after junior and then decided to go back senior. Coach woes was was coach right like cool about it or was he told me you know if you're if you're like a lot for taiwanese like if you had a guarantee before before i had to make a decision by the time i had to make decision. If i were to leave or stay here they had a guarantee in the first round like go it ain't it ain't ain't even a question you just gotta go. I didn't have that and he was just kind of like you know you can still they'll leave. You want like you're you're. You're you know you're still make a team. If you comeback we could have a chance of repeated and you can be one of the best way within the country and oughta got it but i think that's so important. I feel something you have guide have to look at going into score to. It's not just the name of is about the character around around him could like you said coats more probably wanted to best character guys co two guys in in in college so you know he's going to do what's best for himself. Yeah and you know sometimes in certain program does not what's best for the player. This is what's best for the program and it's like jake you have the best recruiting class in the country three top twenty picks or whatever do twenty recruits coming manila in and then the next year. You got the same thing so it's like. Are you pushing. You know some of the guys just force li yun if they're not ready just because like yeah you got the short end of the stick because if you don't leave these guys come in and these might.
"new orleans pelicans" Discussed on LightHarted Podcast with Josh Hart
"In the same room more stay toy even country. I guess i am live from london right now in a hotel room and mel other people know. Where were you all right now. You left me at home brauman l. a. I'm actually in office. This is a sign for. I hate to say it a sign for what's to come. We're going to have to get a little bit more used to this remote life. Yeah exactly it's crazy. I was shot a mild and jordan the production side of how well they can. <hes> make this sound and sound like we're in the same room. You know when not but yeah. There's something that we're going to have to kind of. Get <hes> ready for us. I guess good practice so far yeah i'll be. I'll be down there that i'll be down there a lot for sure especially for the big episodes yeah definitely going to do some live episodes there. That's gonna be fine. This kind of <hes> been a little more interactive where some of the fans down there in new orleans and definitely hopefully have some you know later down the line in other places like l._a. Or philly d._c. Other places like i said i'll be fun so i guess are sore was been up with you lately. Not much man i have i mean i haven't been been been gallivanting through europe. I'll tell you that i'm actually i'm much more eager to hear about your vacation because i i've seen everything on social. I've tried to try to give your space not bother with too many <hes> too many questions but <hes> but i see your your chelsea stadium. You're tottenham tottenham stadium. What yes oh god here saturday. The tenth <hes> when went to tottenham uh-huh game. I s tanna man no bags right. Yes yeah first of all my bat. Delta didn't have my bags. Go for some reason got stuck in laguardia so that i didn't get here until a couple days after i got here so i had to go do shopping and the podcast equipment was in their podcasts can move in there so i had to go the shopping get brand new clothes do everything <hes> for that and then got here room resin ready so we <music> machine <hes> myself in shannon were out roaming the streets of <hes> regent street of london in a shopping and i'm just trying to waste time to love a room got ready in the lee. Ryan room got ready. We got here dropped off ourself. Quickly showered ahead out to tottenham to watch. They're they're mad. I asked him villa which was a good mess. They won three one <hes> you know tunnel gave me great hospitality osama chelsea fan and my chelsea me. They dragged you and they drag the thing is i know that's one of chelsea biggest rivals but i still wanted to thank them for the hospitality they gave me. I feel like that was the least i could do you know they they gave me <hes> a jersey which i'm not really sure what i'm going to do with that but <hes> home they gave me good seats and the full you know a tour of they would go onto pit and stuff like that so i wanted to at least thank them for the hospitality and much vance killed me for now and so obviously the next day i went to manchester united game verse chelsea <hes> where they beat us foreign nil and it was a rough one but you know i didn't promote or thank them as much on social media <hes> manab and you know just doing that and today they were to go to the bridge. <hes> tom chelsea plays and take a tour. They're you know they they gave me a jersey. I kind of went and bought up the whole host store there so that'll be fun. I got a lotta chose aguirre and be able to wear <hes> throughout <hes> you know my n._b._a. Season so you gotta see me walking in with joe sagir. You guys already know where i bought it from. I was <hes> i saw a bunch of the fans like like when you posted the picture at tottenham stadium. A bunch of the fans were like you know this is why americans don't understand like true rivalries like you know this is why soccer is the best in the world because like the rivalries are so intense like a real fan would never do that as the rivalries over there are they noticeably just way more intense than over here most definitely the fans are just you know the more passionate and that's not a knock to any of the n._b._a. Fans but you know people here. That's what they they live for. They live for you know working during the weekend on matchdays adder sunday now they go everything shuts. It's down to go to the game <hes> mateer unbelievably for their for their team and their club and then you know to kind of do that so that passion is crazy so the rivalries are crazy here so definitely way beard and any of the robberies in the state of <hes> any sport so as kind of course so asked him learning a little bit more about that in their culture so i know next time if that ever happens you guys won't be seeing me post anything about that stuff but <hes> no is crazy and you know i think i kind of love it even more just because of the passionate the fans had the <hes> now now. They're always behind our club. You know what highs the lows you know. There was <hes> chelsea loss <hes> for no two minute of the day. Dan was three nil. You still here three thousand chelsea fans. I was able to make up the trip to manchester. There's still yelling chanting ranting and shown their support so is coolness <hes> an amazing environment. I think anyone who is able to watch for merely game. <hes> yeah out here. They definitely should do it. I love it have you been. Have you been fine dining at all. We've been to a couple of spots. We went to hawk zone. <hes> went. We went to go to ramsey's new restaurant. Here called lucky cat tonight. We're going to base called may's before that shannon wants to go get drinks at there's little league honors. She looked at online. He's a big instagram food drink finder so as it's exactly yeah right so spike caught a sketch. I think like boris is going to go get drinks before dinner there so we've been to their. We've been camden market. Which was i think probably had the best ruben. I went there yeah. I think i had the best room. She got her ruben there. Oh from from briskets and bagels yeah i had two of them. There were fire really good so that <hes> i'm blanking on a couple of other spots but it's been good either for us. I'm looking forward to to tonight in an to barcelona so good wine. <hes> what gonna have other day. I had a <hes> <hes> dinner. We had a white burgundy. Ooh we started with a white berry ahead when my one of my favorite boy where does the show to con con <hes> had one of those <hes> then we want the harrods and i didn't really if god yeah the don't knows hair that a huge department store here is kind of like a neiman marcus but on steroids a whole bunch of designer stuff there whatever but what i didn't no we're kind of got me with at the bottom floor they had like the shoes and all that which is cool but at a wine shop down there so i walked in dan. I like you know like board. Does i went to the bordeaux secchia and they were the ninety five <hes> show to monto rothschild and though the dono math <unk> asked my birth year at ninety five so needless to say ended up buying that then they were there to palmer to other fourteen fourteen vintage. Which was their century <hes> y which i got so i've got a decent. <hes> couple of bottles are that i had here in those ones. I'm shipping back to the states to indulge in you know at the right time as big time and <hes> we'll we'll see and then <hes> that's the lovely thing obviously the wind passion for both devices growing you know your i'm a big cabin big black guy. You are a <hes> big pino guy year. We we kind of talked about that earlier more you. You liked little like the more lighter and not as cavs are really the cab or whatever so but for you we saw on your ram from the wine access and she's some good some good bottles and a nice little little gift box or gift case of some wine so <hes> i was kind on a jealous. I saw that i'm like man. I'm i'll have to get that death fourteen silver oak but <hes> now i think things good i think we've kind of expanded our palettes decent amount the eh the good people at a i want access of graciously hooked us up with with <hes> with a bunch of wine and <hes> it's just cool to its cooler meet people who've been in the space for awhile who know a lot about it because it's really intimidating <hes> <hes> and it's cool to see them be pretty pretty welcoming in <hes> willing to to work with people who are who are new and just kind of help show them the ropes you know yeah yeah and that was like the the one thing i like wine and i'm new to wind. I've only been in the wine for you know last year but now i was when the napa and i was having dinner will <hes> will harlan <hes>. He was signed talking to odyssey. You know change. I'm describing service of wine and etc etc. He said one thing that made me feel so much more comfortable and confident in myself and in wine and he was like there's half a million five hundred thousand merchants in the world sailing selling wine and each of them have of different blends different <hes> vintages <hes> so with that he was like those the millions of of wines every year so he said that i'm just saying and he was like no. There's some masters master somber a massive wine <hes> that can't agree on if a wine was corked corked or not so when she said that i'm just thinking well you know wonder that much is you can't know about you know millions of bottles of wine that come out every year and then something as simple as if the bottle was corked or not if the best people in the world of quote unquote supposed to be the best people in the world in terms of somalia as and knowing about wine they can't agree on that then you know i feel a little bit more comfortable in my own skin <hes> and in the wine the wine world and and luckily we were texting for nessa and he's been a amazed from me. I'll be back and forth out the best wise get a different restaurants and etc so so <hes> been been good so i can't complain <hes> unrelated no but i saw that you guys are playing thirty national television games. That's huge yeah. Mass will be amazing <hes> obviously as a franchise record so there's great and to be able to be seen with such a good team is such a young team. That's competitive. Teammate and exciting team is is really good for our growth as a team of an organization and i think this kind of go up from here and is crazy to see teams. I golden state. They have thirty national t._v. Game league have thirty one national t._v. games so no national t._v. Wise exposure wise is were at the top international televised games. Were the top you know of of the league and you know we're just as i walked just have the potential to be just as some of those teams are some of those organizations that had had so much tradition tradition so much winning and success and you know the history <hes> there are franchises so this'll be great and i'm looking forward to it odyssey. We'll see you always loved playing national televised games so it's going to be this'll be fun here. It's it's the best of both worlds bro. You're on a great team a young team and you know you have every bit of the spotlight and every bit of attention that you got so accustomed to you know in l. a. because we've talked about it before on podcast but i can imagine as as a player you know there's there's probably a little frustrating to be going out every night and doing your thing and and you know averaging not not you but like just like averaging twenty five game in but still being looked at as like a small market guy still being you know. Maybe discounted a little bit because you're not seen on national t._v. All the time so. I think this is a huge opportunity for you. Guys thinks thanks so much definitely and i think the biggest example of that is is drew and i kind of want to <hes> get away from saying he's the most underrated player 'cause i don't want that to be the labor that he has <hes> but you know someone who like that who's a an amazing player on both sides of the core who can impact the game in every which way he's going to be able to have so much more exposure so so that many more people watching the n._b._a. And love the game of basketball can see him more and see how well he plays and how good he is and how good he is far organization so i'm excited for <hes> you know no drew rooted this team of generous those i on the i just go down the list and you know we have one of our new young exciting. Dieting players is going to be on the podcast episode yeah <hes> verschoor with jackson hayes and <hes> he was known. I don't wanna say he was known for his dunk but you you know one of his biggest highlights. Some league was <hes> his thunderous dunk <hes> the third game his first game that they are you able to play us emily but you know being able to showcase <hes> the talent of our team in the direction the positive direction that this franchise is going. He's going to be really good for us for sure. <hes> got a couple a couple of heart-to-heart questions answer before we get into it. <hes> oscar nineteen parkinson wants to know what are your goals for the season. Ooh <hes>. I'm a team guy. Some talk about teen goes i <hes> i think we want to make it to the playoffs under that. We want to do with the west..
