Tropical Storm Isaias spawns tornadoes in New Jersey

"Have an update now from New Jersey, where we had a confirmed tornado on the ground and tornado warnings for parts of the Jersey Shore. We go live to K Y W's Mike Leonardo, with the update from the governor might Governor Murphy just wrapped up a news conference up in Woodbridge brand in the state of emergency remains in effect in New Jersey State offices are closed of the storm but is tracking further West then was first thought, and that means rain is heavier in the western parts of New Jersey Governor Murphy also warned of high winds. A CZ we've heard Down at the shore high winds of up to 70 miles an hour. A zoo result. Motorcycles and trailers are prohibited on the New Jersey Turnpike until further notice. With all that the wind comes a lot of rain, too, and the Europe people are advised not to drive through standing water on DH with that wind. It also creates power outages, not many at the moment, but authorities are expecting that outages could run into the hundreds of thousands. By the time all is said and done. It's a relative relatively fast moving storm, but it's packing a serious punch in the state is ready. State crews are standing by for water rescues there ready to use generators bought after Sandy. Even the state Forest Service has chainsaw teams ready to be deployed. For the moment. There are no reports of of those teams actually having to get out yet the storm still moving through New Jersey. But as we say, and Brandon and Carol, those state crews are ready to spring into action, and we should say that they have. They're coming in from out of state. There are people of personnel from other states and we're in the middle of a pandemic. So not only do they have to worry about the dangers of being up in bucket trucks in high winds, But you also have social distancing to worry about as well.

"Sell wanna drive? You actually wrote a two part blog wanna drive one drive or not. And this was interesting. This was triggered by a friend of yours. Peter who found a YouTube video on how to drive an eighteen speed transmission, which by the way, I can't even imagine. So it brought back memories for you of a pretty big event your grave digger in college. You. You worked with guy named Billy who had a big truck. And you wanted to what you said Dr truck like Billy's. So what this was an interesting story. What happened here the whole back story on this goes back to when I was four years old. And I was four years old. I lived across the street from construction company, and I would sit on the curb in the afternoons, and I would watch the guys come back with their trucks. And I just kind of fell in love with trucks fast forward from four years old to my teenage years. I'm working at the local cemetery. Setting up for funerals filling in after funerals, whatever and the guy who digs the graves, Billy, Billy. He also has a trucking business and hauling heavy equipment around. And so one day I got up. I was so curious to to experience that see what that was like one day. I got up the courage to ask him if I could go for a ride with one of his guys. And he said he tried to talk me out of it. And then he said, okay sure show up, you know, tomorrow at six I did. So you you showed up at six to spend the day with Michael. Yeah. And you did in fact get to ride in the truck. But then Michael kind of turn the tables on you. So what happened? Yeah. As we. So we went down to Alantic city. This was from Philadelphia went down to Atlantic City picked up machine took it up somewhere north jersey. And then we were coming back we stopped at arrest rest stop. And then we were walking back to the truck. And he. Turns to me, and he's like you wanna drive and I'm like. No, he's like you just going to come out here all day to sit in the truck. He's like come on. You wanna drive or what? So it's like. Okay. And. You know, he put me in. I got I got in. And I started driving. So pretty scary. And it's one of the white load trucks. Right. Yeah. We didn't have we didn't have a machine on at that time. Thankfully. But yeah, it says a big, you know, big semi alright. And so one of the one of the parts of this day that you described was approaching toll booth that you needed to fit this big rig through and had no choice. But to do that. Right. Yeah. I mean once once he we once we got started. He he kind of took a took a nap. So we're on the jersey turnpike. I think and we're driving down see the sign that there's a toll booth up ahead like two miles or something. So I hit him. And I'm like, I can't I can't do this. He's like what it's just a just steer between the tollbooth. You gotta stop anyway to pay them like. Okay. So those are the days before the open road tolling. So I actually had to pull in their stop at the right spot hand the money out to the toll taker and get a receipt receipt back. So it's very scary. It was very scary. So I'm I'm just wondering kind of as a conclusion of the story throughout the whole rest of your life. How many times did you see a truck like that? And and kind of say to yourself like oh my God. I drove one of those well a lot because I did when I when I started my even before I started my business, but I drove all the time L so it was actually in instructive informative. All right. So I've I've I've driven pretty much every kind of Chuck there is so I feel good about it now. Good. But at the

Destroying dozens of home a day after Facebook stock got pummeled, it's, Twitter turns it's Twitter's turn, I should, say as I'm, turning to the monitor to see okay Twitter closed down, twenty point five percent c net reporter Ian. Share spoke with Mike Wallace? This afternoon about it and Twitter's quarterly earnings are, better than expected so what's the problem today the problem is. The same problem that's facing Facebook which is that user growth has stalled. Or stopped. Or gone even Backward in some cases and it's. Really concerning for Wall Street investors have been used to now for the. Last couple of years despite this just unending list of scandals whether. It's Russian meddling. Or Trump's tweeting. In general or even stuff like the concerns about data privacy, with, Cambridge Analytica every one of, these things, seems to have, not held back the financial performance of both Facebook and, Twitter Twitter actually was able to get profitable. In the last couple of? Years and Facebook was growing quite crazy until this, week and so now we're seeing this kind of sudden yeah, yeah Stop of everything that was looking good financially and investors are, panicked and we're seeing stock went down for Facebook it had the, largest market share market value loss in the history of, the United States yesterday and then Twitter is, down some twenty percent last time I checked and, this thing just continues to. Be very bad news now recently Twitter has been purging fake accounts to. The tune of about a, million a day is is that a big factor in this in. This lack of user growth believe it or not know that data was actually. From a locked account so there's a distinction that may not seem. Like it matters but when Twitter's going, through in identifying accounts that do bad stuff whether, they are so they're spammy or whatever or harassing they will do. What's calling lock the account which means that it's still exists on their service but you can't access it. So those accounts were automatically not included in the counts that they use. So removing all those accounts which is what they've. Been doing in the last couple of weeks and, we, saw President Trump's never Twitter followers jaw dropping some six hundred thousand, we saw Justin Bieber lose over a million. All of that was actually stuff that's not part of the normal count so that's what makes. This even more worrisome that is on top. Of them actually policing. Their platform appropriately or at least more than they were. These, numbers, are still not growing and that's a problem interesting stuff CNN reporter insure always great to, talk to you have a good weekend my pleasure take care w CBS, news time four eighteen time for traffic and weather together where we go.
