"Find it says to heck with it keep spending money we don't have to leave it to our kids and grandkids to clean up no one has read the bill it's a massive unreadable two thousand three hundred and thirteen page bill filled with government expanded goodies and spending and it was dropped on us yesterday afternoon at four thirty PM my step out the first look at four thirty the bill is a blatant violation of the house a seventy two hour rule a pretty weak rule requiring we have at least seventy two hours to review legislation everyone back home is a are you kidding me in this case twenty three hundred pages seventy five years ago this week American forces were under siege from two hundred thousand German soldiers over a thousand passengers as Hitler mounted a counter offensive in the middle of the freezing cold winter at Christmas our boys no doubt want to get home get this Congress surrenders its renders the swap mortgaging the future the very future those men fought for the president last spring about a massive omnibus said I will never sign another bill like this again I'm not going to do it again nobody read it it's only hours old some people don't even know what's in it it's one point three trillion dollars the second largest ever Mister president I look forty or veto and I think he should but it's my understanding and I have a veto proof majority in both houses that's how many Republicans have joined the Democrats I know I'm the one hosted gets involved in this stuff on the one hosa wrote a book called plunder and deceit I'm the one host is concerned about the spending because one day it's gonna cut somebody's throat others have said what we always hear about this and nothing happens well these are people who don't understand history economics course it takes time for things to happen to mass of a company the problem is how do you pull back because it will happen it will happen and it has happened historically when you look at other countries anything Hitler came to power economies collapse governments take over governments collapse when economies collapse liberty is the first thing to go I'm telling you they're spending crazy and they're not just spending crazy they're making deals do you know by this time next year or there abouts federal workers will have twelve weeks of paid family leave you wear this must produce twelve weeks has been debated anywhere now it's something the Democrats demanded twelve weeks three months paid leave on you you're not only be paying for taking care of your own kids you'll be paying for somebody else to take care of their kids and it's not just kids a sick family member so forth I mean how did we get along as Americans before all this stuff perfectly well perfectly well and yet these things are happening right now and they should concern you enormously because I don't know how we get back this is a massive trillion dollar omnibus bill and I'm told it has veto proof majorities you see you get more votes voting for stuff than voting against stuff pretty incredible but nobody cares I don't even think everybody out here cares as I speak about this okay big deal move on big deal there's another thing that's happening that is undermining our country you'll notice the TSA is no longer going except most of your driver's licenses that you're gonna have to bring birth certificates for new drivers licenses that are put out by states in order to get clearances we seen that Mister minister you know one of the reasons are doing their because he stayed for now handing out driver's license like like lollipops so New Jersey becomes the fourteen state to pass driver's licenses for undocumented immigrants but so clever undocumented that'll be documented now because you're going to get license New Jersey passed a bill letting immigrants who cannot prove their in the country legally to get driver's license this is incredible to me had the stator conducting these these these blue states the Democrat led assembly and Senate passed the measure Monday Democrat governor Phil Murphy has said he supports the legislation as well national conference of state legislatures says thirteen states and the district of Columbia permit immigrants without legal status to obtain driver's licenses Hey New Jersey think tank estimates nearly five hundred thousand residents without documentation how come on illegal aliens our of driving age in New Jersey center jerseys gone down the Crapper like these other states taxes through the roof property taxes income taxes all kinds of taxes quality of life sinking hard working men and women who like to vote for Democrats apparently gonna see more more taxes diverted to illegal aliens who I'm supposed to be here in the first place because this is the Democrat party base going forward immigrants and illegal immigrants particularly the latter who have children and they have children and then they're all citizens and they have a swell time that's pretty scary I think but it's happening fourteen states to pass driver's licenses at half past private and now New Jersey more to come all be right back.

"He's got a great attitude a great mindset and and I asked him you know Phil what being professional football. That's gotta be crazy as you try to keep up with everything physically in and he said I'll tell the guys that are playing professional football anything they can do to get that little like one percent edge over the other players in terms of performance it matters At that level for you and I all right one percent better today or tomorrow okay. Whatever sure but at that level there's such highly tuned athletes that one percent edge communes everything that is amazing and then he also told me I asked him so? You know you play on Sunday. What's Monday morning like like I got hit by a truck awesome? You know going back to speaking to your sales team. How do you get them to buy into? Because I know a lot of orgnisations it kind of has that little trickle down effect my goals lead into your goals your goals lead into our leaders goals. Earlier's goals leads into the owners. Let's is that how it works for you. You kind of have individual goals does Kinda fit your your you know your strategic plan for the following year. I'm I'm happy to talk a little bit about it. I mean I can't get too many particulars but what I can tell you is our organization is a small firm show. We're we're not one of the big firms it's publicly publicly traded or anything like that. We've team at twenty five people Fifteen or brokers we cover central southern New Jersey Center city Philly Philly suburbs suburbs nice even as far as likely High Valley. Okay Oh out so we cover pretty big stretch but all the goals that the people have are their own goals for production nice. Yes and my job is to work with them to you. Know work towards those goals and smash the goals and hopefully that's that's what we're after But the the goals that we have it doesn't really feed into a bigger thing other than To some extent my compensation is tied to what they do. But what I I am really after is being able to say as a sales manager. Look at what I did with this team. Absolutely look at what I did this. I had the opportunity to work with these guy. Some of them at this point some of them only have a little over a years worth of experience but they're already crushing it because they bring their almost all athletes in some form or another One gentleman please Lacrosse. Still Another One's coaching Lacrosse was the duke. Lacrosse Guy Professional Baseball player that transition. And in real estate I mean just great athletic background see Syracuse Football Player and so on so But the way that people look at their goals individually Sometimes they're a little hesitant to kind of say. Oh this is what I'm I'm GonNa do but ultimately it's really about helping them to understand understand that by you hitting that goal everything else in your life gets to open up more you get more choices because when you hit that goal now you can take the economic rewards of that and if you want to go and buy a bigger house renovate your current house if you want to go and do more charity work work if you want to go and be involved in a country club or whatever it is you WanNa go and do now. You've got the resources to go and do that. And that came off the sweat of your own back. Yeah Ah Yeah. That's awesome Is it true for you at least There's there's you know it's it's all over written history It almost seems like the universe operates in a way that it helps those who are helping themselves And this is very true for you know Just life in general when you see a kid on the corner selling lemonade or something like that is like you know what I want to help him because he has that mindset is he's trying to earn that money. So what do you do you stop jump out of your car or whatever it is give them a dollar or whatever. He's is charging and may not even take lemonade. You just do it just because put if that kid who's just standing on a corner you wouldn't have stopped and give them a dollar right and so it's interesting so it's like it's almost like you're helping the person's almost helping themselves. What regardless of sometimes what their intentions is? Because you don't necessarily know that Do do you find that true Rudy. Find or even in sports where the coach is always harder on probably the best player on the team because you know their full potential. And you're going to be better than a you even could ever ever imagine. I know for for for my kid. I know I see him doing certain things and then I kind of challenge him and then I step back. I'm like I would would've never had the interaction of he hadn't done X Y and Z. It's amazing since you're there. Let me help you this. You probably should do. Do you find yourself doing that. Yeah I see every single day I'm GonNa go to different ways with us but from from the sales team side of it I see the people that are coming to me with really good questions. And they're really trying to take their commercial real estate brokerage practice to the next level trying to get deals elston faster. They're trying to win new business and every single day I see them out there focused so when I do have that opportunity that crosses my desk and we've got give it to somebody who are the people that I see really putting themselves out there. Chances are it's going to be that unless geographically. It's got to go to some recent short but I do WanNa reward the person that is putting themselves out there digging into life and getting after it on the other side of it you know this to me ties a little bit interfaith. Yes so you are stepping out in faith this little kid. THAT'S ON THE STREET CORNER TOMMY BELLY. You know going and getting fruit and going to the farmer's market but in the Bible I always always go back to if you had faith but the size of a mustard seed you would say to that mountain get up and move and it would go and you will be amazed by the things that you will do and I know that those words were not spoken lightly. Those words were spoken throwaway words and it wasn't just oh this is what's going to allow you to go and share my message after I'm dead. No this is for you to live your life here and now also also in this moment right now today so I always go back to that. That's powerful yeah It's it's amazing right. And then it makes you even question like the stuff that you thought you had. Faith was like. Well I if look how big a muster to you for those of you who do not understand estander know what it is a tiny tiny. The'd so it's amazing exactly and from another kind of faith perspective. There's there's a gentleman by the Dave. Meltzer is a great sports marketing guy and so forth and Dave always says you know. There's enough power in your thumb to light up the city Philadelphia. So oh I and the mustard seed is smaller than your thumb. It's amazing and that is real faith. It's just that little bit people really had it man. That'd be doing things way different absolutely absolutely so so. The third component of of being forever blessed West is gratitude for me gratitude And just being thankful for regardless of what your results are being thankful for them because the results that you wanted awesome. If they're the results that you did not want time to learn right time to grow yeah beautiful beautiful awful position to be in You know just prior. While I was getting a haircut I was having a conversation with my brother and I was telling him a situation. That didn't and come together. It came together in a negative way for me totally unexpected but had I done a little bit more digging. I should have known x Swayne Z.. was going to happen so I could be sitting around. You know with smoke coming out of my ears for the next two and a half weeks or I can say it is what it is. I mean if that's you know that's a policy that's a policy you know now I know keep keep it moving but now I'm going to grow from that but you're not gonNA play me the next time now. I know right now you now. You've got the real life experience that you're you're gonNA internalize it and and actualize in your own life with it and in your career right in your business and that's that's the ideal yeah yeah But thinking about gratitude. I had a conversation this morning with Mike. Mullahs who I think was one of your absolutely guests. You're not so long ago. Love Mike and Mike and I were were talking and and I told him that I was really interested in in speaking more about the gratitude part of things because for the last several weeks. I've tried to get myself into the habit every single morning. Where phone face down on the far side of the bedside table so I really have to stretch to reach it so I don't and the first thing I do I'm awake but before my eyes even open? Okay you're awake step one thank hugh. I'm awake I'm alive absolutely there's another day. There's something I'm supposed to get done that okay. I'm still here. My feet hit the floor floor. I take a couple of steps. Wait a minute my legs are carrying me where I want to go great. I'm alive. Thank you absolutely so I've I have legs. Get me where I WANNA go. I have another day to try and get after it with my own plan. What I'm trying to achieve go work with my sales team figure out what my wife and I are working on whatever that is but wow I have another day absolutely and now I get to do things? I don't have to do things absolutely a love that can you explain a little bit of maybe where that mindset Came from in were how it's developed over the years so so you know we know you had Some you WanNa talk about your health. That definitely happy to happy to talk about that. So I had In some ways some people say man. That's a terrible situation but it of a terrible situation I kind of had the best of it I had. I was diagnosed my second semester senior year in college. I was at Bloomberg in Allentown and I was diagnosed with testicular stickler cancer same conditions as Lance Armstrong. Well except I caught it a lot sooner than he did. So it didn't go up to my brain or anything but I still had to have surgery for or lymph node removal and Chemo and At the time it became a tool for me to say okay. This happened why well you're probably never going to know why. So you're gonNA drive yourself nuts trying to figure that out right but you're here..

"Heart patients, including heart transplant assistive ICES are tavern program. And everything else that we do. And this is such an important thing. And I'm so happy that Robert Wood Johnson has it now. Now, doctor Leigh trained at the great hospitals. He was at New York hospital. He did a fellowship at Sloan Kettering. So he's been everywhere, and he knows and I know that this is a facility that really is world class. So tell us about tell us about some of the key features of this new facility. Sure. And I can tell you as compared to those other facilities. This is actually the most modern the most impressive you that. I've actually ever seen and for for someone who's who's been around a little bit. I think that's important thing. So each room is equipped with movable booms. So that all the outputs all the power all the gas, all the oxygen, etc. Are in these booms? So that nothing is actually plugged into the walls. So as our patients get sicker, and sicker and complex, and we need more and more equipment in the rooms to care for these patients. Nothing is again plugged into the walls and everything is out of the way. So we have what is called ecm. Oh, which is a very fairly new program to us. We've had it for about two years. It allows us to provide care to critically ill patients with heart failure lung failure or both. And there's. A lot of support that's needed for these patients including devices and these devices can plug directly into the booms. And because nothing is actually plugged into the walls. It allows us to have three hundred sixty degree access to the patients. The patients are in the patient. Beds are not up against any wall anywhere. They're actually right in the middle of the room. In addition. We have special lights in the ceiling, which are operating room lights that are just that allow us to then to bedside procedures with all the all the great visibility in great lights that we have in the operating room. So so you have some outstanding features that make it easier to take care of patients, and that's the key thing. So you were talking about some of the some of the more complex procedures that are being done that Robert Wood Johnson is a center. Now for cardiac surgery, it's not just a New Jersey center, but a northeast United States if not a nationwide center, so what are some of the the complex procedures that you're actually doing there that you take advantage of this kind of intensive care unit afterwards. So over the past six years or so our volume has grown by over fifty percent about six years ago or volume was about nine hundred and fifty cases this past year. We finished with about thirteen hundred fifty hearts, plus one hundred fifty what are called tavern procedures, which is a a a new way of introducing a already vowels into patients. So if you put it all together, it's about fifteen hundred hearts that require this cardiovascular care units and of those fifteen hundred of course, we do. Do your your standard heart surgeries, like coronary bypass surgery invalid replacements, but we also do heart transplants. We do ventricular assist devices which are pumps to support the failing heart. We talked about ecm. Oh, and so as our patients get older and older, sicker and sicker. They're required. New interventional therapies that. We are now able to provide and then care for them in this ICU, my guest this evening is Dr Leonard Lee, he is the chairman of surgery at Robert Wood Johnson university hospital and at the medical school, which is part of Rutgers now Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson medical school. He's the chief of cardiac surgery. This is the guys doing all sorts of cutting edge research, and we're so happy to have you in New Brunswick. I'm happy to be part of the Robert Wood Johnson family, and thanks again for taking time tonight. So now, I understand that when planning this new cardiac intensive care unit you and your team placed a very. Strong emphasis on making it more patient and family friendly. Tell us a little bit about that. So there are a couple of things it's a very family friendly waiting room. It's fairly large several TV's. We have charging stations for things like iphone because none of us can live without our phones. These days. And then as far as the ICU itself is concerned each patient room has Florida's ceiling windows, we know in healthcare that phototherapy or exposure to sunlight is extremely important to patients wellbeing and also healing. So every room has a tremendous amount of late, literally, Florida, ceiling windows, also each room has private bathrooms. So every room has its own bathroom for the patient and for the family members and also all the glass doors that lead from the ice ICU room out into the hallway can turn from clear to OPEC with the flick of a switch to provide some privacy when things are being done to the patient or for the patients. That's pretty cool. I like that. So now, so Robert Wood Johnson has really become it's transformed over the last thirty years since I've been there from a relatively small hospital to a powerhouse in in the area in the state in the northeast in the United States, and it's really such a wonderful thing to see it grow. And you are part of that that very important cardiac surgery team, and as we talked about there are so many new procedures being done. Now in cardiac surgery. I love the new valve that, you know, it's it's a scary thing know, no one has to. I mean, anyone who has faced cardiac surgery, or who has family members that are about to have cardiac surgery. Now, it's it's scary and the procedures that you're developing. Now, these less invasive or fairly non invasive procedures are incredible. Tell us a little bit about that bow from it. Sure, there are actually three ways of approaching valvular heart disease, so for isolated Eric valve disease. Three approaches there's a standard heart surgery approach, which is gonna season down the middle of the chest. Then we at Robert Wood are are one of the few programs in the country that provide what is called minimally invasive Eric valve replacement, which is standard surgical Eric valve replacement the gold standard, but through a small station in the right chest, and it is heart surgery, but the patient's hospital stay short as two days. And then finally we have Tabar trans catheter erotic valve replacement which is gaining a tremendous amount of prestige days. It is approved. There are two FDA approved devices on the market that we do utilize. They're both in third generation and soon to be fourth generation devices. And this is a way of replacing the Arctic valve through the artery in Legrand much, like a standard, Andrew Graham or cardiac catheterization would be done. We do do it in the operating room in what's called a hybrid room under X Ray guidance, and we feed catheters and wires up into the heart. And we'd literally pushed the old valve. Off to the side, we leave it in its place, but we push it out to the side. And we implant the Nouvelles within it. So by providing all three of these approaches to the air valve, we are able to tailor the care to the patients disease as opposed to trying to make the patients fit into one of our treatment strategies. Absolutely fascinating. How this has developed and gotten better and better and safer and safer. Dr Leonard Lee, I have to say, it's a real pleasure speaking with you and taking in having you take time on the Saturday evening. Thank you so much for being at Robert Wood Johnson and being a guest on the show this evening. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. All right. And I'm Dr Arthur Perry. And if you want more information about Robert Wood Johnson and about the cardiac surgery team and the new intensive care unit. Go to the website. It's R W J B H. That's our w j B h dot org, and you can call Robert Wood Johnson. If you have a question if you want a referral to one of the cardiac.

"From NPR and WB. You are I'm Peter Dowd. And Lisa Mullins, it's here. And now today the Labor Department reported that the US economy at at three hundred four thousand jobs in January the unemployment rate ticked up slightly because of the month long shutdown of federal government agencies. President Trump tweeted praise for what he called the strongest economy in the world in an interview with the New York Times, the president spoke about funding for border wall. He hinted that he might declare a national emergency. If congressional negotiators don't give him the money. He wants for the wall of set the table. I've set the stage for doing what I'm going to do. And there is a new hat in the ring for twenty twenty New Jersey Senator Corey Booker says he's running for president. So let's bring in our Friday politics roundtable, Abby Philip is CNN White House. Correspondent abbie. It's good to have you. Thanks for having me. Sure. And Chad pergram senior Capitol Hill producer for Fox News. Chad good have you to a low? Okay. So there's news on twenty twenty on the front there. Let's New Jersey center. Cory Booker did his first live TV interview as a presidential candidate this morning on ABC's the view he was asked about how he'd get the vote of the forgotten person who might still be leaning towards Donald Trump. Here is a lot of pain. And the challenge is for us Americans with a little bit more, courageous empathy recognize that this is a common pain that we're all in this together. You put off seeing a doctor because you can't afford it. That's not a Republican or democratic pain. That's that's right now hurting in America abbey. Does Corey Booker have a shot. Well, he probably has as much fish shot as anyone else in the democratic race at this point. And I think what you're hearing in that clip. Although I think for some people it might seem a little hard to pin down is quite Booker trying to do two things one atop touch tap into what Donald Trump tried to tap into which is the forgotten man and woman, that's literally a phrase that Donald Trump used throughout the campaign in his inaugural speech and even as president. But then also kind of Mary it to sort of. Obama ask you know, politics of hope kind of positive message it going into this campaign. So that's a really great question. I mean, I think no one really knows right now. No one knows whether or not the forgotten man and woman wants a positive hopeful message or whether they are just angry and want radical change. And I think that's going to be one of the central tensions of this next raises where are people leaning on that that question Cory booker's sticking out of a slot in the sort of hope and change lane here. But he's also trying to tap into this idea that people feel like politics government isn't working for them. The economy isn't working for them. And that's a very Trumpian message. Chad pergram Lucy ho healthcare fits into all of that. Because Booker is yet another democrat in the field who is for Medicare for all do you expect that the eventual nominee among Democrats is going to have that as part of the platform. Well, the problem the Democrats. Are going to have a, and this is courting that, you know, mid western voter that swing voter maybe somebody who voted for Donald Trump that that might be dissatisfied. Now is do these ideas on the left seemed to radical in too far afield, you know, that is a balance that they have to have to strike, and whether that message is coming from some unlike Cory Booker where someone who's not running for president not eligible to run for president like, New York, Democrat, Alexandria, Cossio or Cortez. There's going to be a concern that those messages that everything coming out of the Democratic Party is radicalized. Now, here's the the advantage perhaps for someone like Cory Booker. He is a disruptor. We're in we're in a, you know time right now in politics were disruption is very important and very successful. Donald Trump was in fact, a disruptor Cory Booker got into politics being a disrupter running against sharp James longtime mayor of of Newark back during superstorm, sandy. You know, people were tweeting at him directly. And he was tweeting back. They needed fire service here..

I was reading along side Jordan Everley in Edmonton at eighty points at twenty three hundred fourteen season had twenty six game point streak did hall this past year, and again comes in tonight on a nine game point scoring streak as they held them off to keep opening night. But he has a point in every game since so incredible season. For Taylor hall who two summers ago was the best man at Jordan ever lease wedding. You're the islanders to the front of the net. Nothing when he had that's one eighty six game point streak Taylor. Whole became just the eighth player at NHL history to reach at least twenty six consecutive games point. Josh me, right leading the way for the islanders with his point earlier tonight. He already has himself an extension to game streak and Josh did have an eleven gamer last year. Gosh Bailey and number two star here on Thursday night as the album's beat the penguins in shootout he had a short handed goal. His first in over six and a half years and he had the only shootout goal as well. Nico here for the devils rolls it through the crease right to left no player there for either side. And that brings another whistle. So choppy start to the second goal a minute thirty in Josh that last shorthand mentioned March twenty nine twenty twelve also against the Pittsburgh Penguins play as shorthanded anymore, but he jumped out of the penalty box windows a five on five on four. And that's he was out there killing a penalty though. He never had to step foot offensive zone because. Just a couple of seconds after the penalty box cases, Zeke is made the block. And then sent the puck off the nearside boards hitting Bailey in stride to set him up for that. Thing of beauty for Casey's. Is the seventh man any indirect pass your bars? The first intermission payout is gonna ice the puck. Here and what they did. Actually, they introduced them decade by decade. So they announced the islanders of the two thousands. And then they work backwards to the nineteen nineties nineteen eighty nineteen seventies. And you're right. Some of the cheers like Trevor Gillies got a huge cheer and in the second intermission revoked play you back a piece of that. So you can hear it for yourself. Trevor Gillies they stole. Remember that night at the Coliseum at nine three win against the penguins that featured the number off the top of my head by two hundred fifty penalty minutes. Right. He was a big part of that. Boy, Chuck jumped over his stick at the blue line, and he'll have to track it back to New York. I almost five minutes, but first real threatening action. We've seen from either side in the second period that has had that choppy start your Adam pellets. Stick handles left wing of the devil line took a tumble and that allowed Merckel Mueller to come away with it for the visitor gave away to Chuck it right point. Snapshot hit news body in front of his own net. Botany and cleaned it up off the floor boards and out the center staffer right wing over the line. The Blake Coleman the right wing corner. Worked down by boy, Chucky escapes, subject tried to play off the back of the net to himself, but bars l knew it was coming stole it. And he goes the other way that far south through center over the devil. Blueline mill of the ice left circle. Fires. To save and he will hold with the glove. Good end to end action one nothing. It's nearly one hundred fifty students who range in age from six to twenty one Wall Street Journal education reporter, Leslie Brody paid a visit Leslie what did you see? Well, every school in New Jersey has to have one fire drill and one security Joel a month including lockdowns evacuations just as a precaution. And I hadn't really thought about how hard that would be the fulfill for some of the schools that serve some of the most disabled children. And so I watched an evacuation at one of these schools. It's called the Phoenix center in Nutley, which is just west of New York City. And this was interested to see how hard the staff work to keep the students. Come and get them out of the building. You know school shootings, you know, they're obviously way too many of them, but they're still rare. I mean, it is unlikely that this school will be targeted, but it's a state law to practice. And so they do and they take it very seriously.
