Is Vote Harvesting Legal or Illegal?

"Hi, dinesh. This is Laura. One of the themes in 2000 mules is the issue of vote harvesting. Is vote harvesting legal or illegal according to the laws of each state. Thank you. This is a very important question. In fact, it is the heart of the objection to the movie made by Philip bump of The Washington Post. Essentially what Philip bump says is that this is a movie that shows and demonstrates beyond a reasonable doubt, massive harvesting. And he goes, yeah, but harvesting is not always illegal. It's allowed in a whole bunch of places. And so what's the big deal really? Maybe in some cases it wasn't allowed in certain ways, but you're not going to cancel out a vote because the mode of its delivery, the harvesting was somehow out of sync with the rules. Are you? Now, this is, this is something we need to drill into because these laws are made at the state level, and they vary. So let me say, this is what boat harvesting is. Vote harvesting is giving you a ballot to someone else. This is we're talking obviously about absentee or mail in ballots. You don't go deliver the ballot yourself. You give it to someone else and say you would do it. Now, there are about 27 states that allow some form of vote harvesting, but in most of these states the form allowed is very limited, very specified. So let's start with the most liberal vote harvesting laws. These are places like California and Hawaii. And the idea here is you can give your ballot to anyone. California allows you to ask any Tom dick or Harry, so to speak to return your ballot. And that is permitted. Now, most states don't do that, even states that allow vote harvesting normally limit who you can give your ballot to. So let's take, for example, the state of Georgia. In the state of Georgia, you are permitted to give you a ballot only to a family member, or if you are in a confined or facility, if you're in a nursing home, you can give it to a caregiver. And that's

How Did Dinesh Conceive the Idea for '2016: Obama's America'?

"I did mention Debbie. My name is Austin and I'm an aspiring filmmaker from Georgia. My writing partner and I bring some projects, but we're most excited about a conservative show concept. We'll finalizing this word. From a story standpoint, it compares the analogies of the famous books warnings to the current reality of the United States. Anyway, we would love to know how did you conceive the idea to make 2016 Obama's America with no filmmaking experience and how did you get those who are willing to help you make it such as funding, filmmaking, et cetera, because we're looking for that up to. Well, in my case, the idea of making the film arose out of a book that I had already published called the roots of Obama's rage. So I felt that I had a powerful new insight into Obama. And that would be intriguing as a film. Now, the conventional view of Obama was he was kind of a civil rights guy. He came out of the kind of tradition of Selma and Montgomery, the Martin Luther King tradition. And my point was no. Obama, it's not that he was born abroad, but he comes from a foreign perspective. He is absorbed, if you will, the dreams of his father. So I thought this was an interesting topic to be able to convert into a movie, although I didn't quite know how that would be done. As it turns out, a movie is a journey, and I would have to go to Hawaii and Indonesia, Kenya, and kind of track down almost physically the Obama story. But once I got the idea, I realized that, you know, I'm not on the left. I'm not like Michael Moore. I can't go marching into a studio and collect $10 million and say, okay, I'm going to make a movie now. So on our side, you've got to sort of build it out from the ground

The Math of Resistance With Tiffany Justice of Moms for Liberty

"Talk to us about the math of resisting. That when you think you're just one person, when people don't want to stand up and ask that question, the school board. But if one person says yes, I'll ask that question and you just decide to stand beside them and then you realize somebody else will and somebody else will talk about the catalytic knock on effect of showing others that they're not alone Tiffany. Yeah, I think it's hard when you see a company like Disney and others coming out and trying to shame parents and saying, well, you're not accepting of people. That's baloney. This isn't about, you know, this bill in Florida wasn't about homosexuality or heterosexuality. This was about children and innocence, and that's something everyone can get behind and fight for. I really think there's an effort to divide us as American citizens and they're trying to divide us on principle. The funny thing is, I think that Americans are smarter than that. And they're going to see past it, and they're going to work together. So I agree with you. We hear all the time. People come with their moms for liberty t-shirts somewhere. That one person joins them when we're joins them and then collectively they can't be stopped. Again, school districts might be able to pick off one or two parents, right? They can't pick off 40. So stand with each other, lock arms, shoulder to shoulder, and let's show Disney and these woke corporations and ridiculous politicians what we're made of. And what does it take to get involved and start a chapter? Yeah, so you can go to our website, moms for liberty dot org. You can click on the map on your state. You can see where chapters are currently in your state. As I said, a 180 chapters and 34 states. We just added Hawaii. That's very exciting for us. Give us a couple that haven't got any chapters. A negative shout out to some states. Yeah, no, absolutely. We need some more chapters in Georgia in Arizona. We need, again, would love to grow Alaska, alaskans, if you're listening, we'd love to have a chapter in Alaska. But yeah, I mean, what we're seeing is that it is contagious. We're going to do an automated video of how moms for liberty has grown in states. And I'll take it as state like Pennsylvania, for example. To see the way that the chapters have grown one by one by one by one and then to turn around and have 14, right? And all working together, that affect at the state level is just

Dinesh D'Souza Joins Charlie to Discuss His New Film '2000 Mules'

"With us right now is a great American patriot who has done so much in just the last decade for the cause for liberty, dinesh d'souza, dinesh great to see you. Charlie, it's a real pleasure. Thanks for having me. Of course, we're here at a turning point action dinner about to talk about your upcoming movie. We also both have podcasts with Salem first yours is the dinesh d'souza podcast, right? Comes out every day, is that right? Exactly. I do it, I do it audio and video, and I've been doing it now a little over a year, and so I'm relatively new podcaster, but really enjoying it. Awesome. Tell us about the movie. We've talked about it. A fair amount on this program, but no better person to talk about it than you? Well, I think it's my most important project of all the movies I've done. So this is number 6 of the documentaries. And I'm sensing around at the same kind of electricity I felt around the first movie, which was my Obama film called. Really broke the zeitgeist. Yes, the second most successful political documentary of all time after behind Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9 11. But I think this movie like that film pulls the curtain back. And the first film that was a puzzlement around Obama, Obama was doing all this stuff that seemed to undermine America and it just seemed, is this man so clueless that he keeps giving away American interests. And so there wasn't a good framework to understand Obama. So I got on the plane, I went to Hawaii, I went to Indonesia, I went to Kenya, sort of discovered the real Obama. And here, this is a movie that's not called 2000 meals. It's not about a person, but it's about a burning issue that is surrounded with a veil of censorship. It's about an issue that's on. It's almost like it's haunting the American mind. And I don't think we can really go forward as a country without learning, perhaps not all the truth, but at least some of the truth. And by truth here I mean, documentable, provable facts about the 2020

Obama and the Beach House Loopholes

"One more thing about mister Obama building his second mansion in Hawaii. He apparently is trying to retain a seawall that neighbors believe is eroding the beach, I guess he's not too concerned about the beach, and he couldn't be too concerned about global warming or climate change because supposedly climate change is going to cause the waters to rise. He's got two homes right on the water. One for $12.5 million in Martha's Vineyard, and now a multi-million dollar mansion in Hawaii. I mean, I do think at a certain point you've made enough money. Why the long face Barack? You're in Hawaii. On your multi-million dollar property overlooking construction on your new ocean front of state. Well, it seems like his neighbors are angry at him for destroying their beaches. Big green guy, Barack Obama is using a loophole to keep a hundred year old sea wall up, but people say it's eroding their beaches and screwing around with the coastal environment

New Jersey and Delaware Democrat Governors Are Lifting Mask Mandates

"You see the picture of Barack Obama? His big mansion in Hawaii is being built. He's out there with all the construction workers. Now they have the toughest some of the toughest mask mandates in the world in Hawaii. You know, that is an island nation. They don't want people bringing COVID they say, and they don't want to spread there, they say. So you got to wear your mask. But not if you're Barack Obama. But look at this. Democrat governors are starting to abandon the Biden administration on school mask mandates. Do tell what's happening here. Apparently, the New Jersey and Delaware governors, both Democrats are lifting mask mandates I mean Murphy was a Democrat so ardently for the mandates, he called anyone who opposed them knuckleheads. But now, looks like Murphy's cave in like a he's folding like a cheap camera.

William Federer Shares the Story of Adoniram Judson

"Talking to Bill, Federer Bill, you just shared an amazing story about the hero, the missionary, adoniram judson. I did not know the story that you just told that he had become an atheist. And then the man who led him into atheism took his own life within a few feet of judson. I mean, you can't make that one up. No, it's powerful story. Do you want to become a missionary? He was the first foreign missionary to India, but really to Burma. And started a missionary movement in the early 1800s called a haystack revival and 5000 young people went out to missionaries around the world. Hawaii, the Caribbean. It was sort of like all the woke energy today. Imagine that being harnessed to go around the world and spread the gospel and start schools and start mission orphanages and medical clinics. And it changed the world. Unfortunately, that young person and energy is harnessed for the destruction right now. Anyway, so Timothy Dwight, during this time, he takes over as president of Yale. And from some reports, there's like no professing Christians in the student body, which is only a couple hundred students. And rather than him sitting his ivory office, he would come down at the lunch table. And he would listen to the students, say all their skeptical stuff. And after he would listen patiently, he would say, okay, I listen to you. Now you listen to me. And one by one, he would refute every one of their arguments. So much so that within a few years, virtually the entire student body became Christian again and a good percentage of the students went on to become ministers and missionaries themselves.

Pearl Harbor: The Day of Infamy

"Well, the summer 7th of course was Pearl Harbor, 1941. A day which will live in infamy. The man overseeing the base operations in Hawaii if I remember correctly his name is admiral husband. Husband Kimmel, my memory serves me right. Now it's this great metaphor, which is and it's actually tragic. He was a great guy. He just decided to go golfing on the wrong day. He went golfing on a beautiful Hawaiian morning and next thing you know the pre emptive strike against the United States occurred, which basically sunk our entire Pacific fleet. Thousands of Americans died. And left us so geo politically and strategically vulnerable. In the hours and days that followed, there was fear that the Japanese would attack California next that amphibious ground amphibious invasion of the western part of the United States was imminent. America's reaction to Pearl Harbor showed us the type of country we were. We didn't tolerate it. Even FDR a left wing Democrat rallied the forces domestically and said, we are now going to go to war and we are going to win. Franklin Delano Roosevelt and cut 28. So today that will live in infamy. Play cut 28. Yesterday, the summer 7, 19, 41. A date which will live in infamy. The United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked. By naval air forces of the empire of France, as the moderate chief of the army and baby, I have directed an all measures be taken for the battle. Remember the character of the unsolved against us. I asked congressman clown a state of war between the United States and the Japanese empire. The speech is really good. And it said a lot about who we were as a nation, what we were willing to do to defend the homeland.

"This is i'm batman and we'll head radio then that man to ever do it. There has never been a better batman than michael. Keaton and like anybody. Orders are different supplement affects a like. I said right now with the air verse hurting as they are yup. Because again you. You're going to have that woman to season to receive gone blat. Light needs to be came painkillers taking his. We didn't know what is going to be there. Showing some hints. But you don't know how that's going to do over time. You have flash met and lois you got stargazer day me something for the squad at stick spot day needs something so why not may be on. Be perfect in that. Why not bad me behind. Or why not. Give us a good green lantern show. I mean i'd be okay with that. I don't know my issue is even fit. What's been fifteen. Years thrive reynolds. There is still such a disdain for that movie. I still know what people would accept it. But batman beyond literally hasn't been done since with a tv show like get in there. Are people like me. 'cause i see it all the time. There are either huge fans that show. That would love to see if you ask anybody who should play bruce. Wayne there's no one else to play. Bruce wayne and michael keaton biden. And then you get someone like i dunno one of these guys from the walking dead or one of the new ninja show. He needs to he needs to be asian. To play. terry mcginnis he needs to be asian but You get one of those guys to play for the guy for. He's a little old but the guy who for five. Oh the new hawaii five him. He's low old but yeah yeah type. Would be perfect for terry begin. Yeah and like bringing all that back. I think that would be cool. Plus it would open up a whole new line. You're in the future now. You can open up so much it would. You can Speaking green lantern. That's do within around because they're talking about john diggle coming back from aero to take that spot so if you do that as a rumor proclaim it will then. You are really really working with something. At that point. He doesn't griller. He becomes kept unicom streamlining. So if you may that may be on if you bring diggle bat now. You're starting to talk to build your now. You're starting to build a strong road roads gallery and now you can really puts puts put speed on things right. I mean and personally like i love eros great put. When dual started appearing. Less is when. I started like diggle him in stephen. A mel's chemistry on camera so good indigo like when they're when they started to pull him away like about season by when everything kinda change. When i really lost interest in era aero aerostat being in my opinion i know a lot of people look at season five but to me. Stop being good at seat at the indices in three. I think that's when it started to phase three was been a while since i watched it. Summary remember what was happening at that point. What that. that's that's also the argument we've had. We've had his argument on numerous occasions with the show. We shows i. I argue the point. That if you look at smallville we've always had this problem with cw. Small set of smallville season five should been in the end of smallville. And you agree you bring up a great. Quite a great point there gene would be shows. Win is too short. Like battle to short gatling news too long light. Ero probably went on a season or two two long safari will definitely went on to see like wait too long. Even as much as i have loved flash. I think it's probably a season too long too long. It's now coming to that point. And i will agree with this. It's coming to that point where you got. You got to cut it off. The it's only all you're doing for a show like this is is It'd be like if you're cutting a person. Eight years just bleeding out into a point where there's no more blood doing so well and some of these shows and so the way these shows shoulda ball is about season five. You do a back door pilot for the next iteration. You've done kid flash. You could the canaries like my understand. Why they they have. They build all this stuff. You don't have to necessarily end. The show is it to the next guy keep grant guston leaves for awhile or whatever in it goes to kid flash but you still have a lot of the stadium supporting cast around so it's not like law right. I also distinct that when you have a show you have shows like this to bring another one back door to take his spot. I think is great but another day to that bothers me. China aimed mclean black. Lightning visit make black lightning. Krizner will use makes black to end the show because she laugh. Oh no noone yeah you know and the next round but like there's ways and there's the truth ways of doing it you gotta look these shows you them accordingly but then you also got to write them like you're writing a comic book comic book series itself exactly rate so it's like okay in aero the next one is the nets person takes over the mantle. That takes you know what i mean. You've gotta follow that same pattern than how you have to look at this when you're working with the series it's like okay. I got five got five seasons using this guy. Now we can bring it over to you. Know like for flash kid flash okay. Now he's going to carry it for maybe three or four we can bring it back to the to the original flash and and for another two seasons and move it back over to somebody. But you're always keeping it rotating and it feels like the comic book itself and you're always getting a roads gallery a different balance blah blah blah rape. But it works. I've used tv show but you've got to look at it like a comic book. I just think. I want anybody to get their impression. Ambassador era verse. I think they do some things. Well they do. It's just not everything that they do. They were doing very well now. It's like we've been discussing this whole show. It's just coming to a point where they're writing themselves into a corner. Shows are ending. They have direction like basically. If you don't do something air versus a whole other maybe one or two shows will be dead in a couple years. You need an two days at. Ns thing and it's the truth in today's tv structure. You have come up with a formulate a plan.

michael michael keaton biden Bruce wayne Wayne five two seasons Eight years five seasons four Krizner two days two fifteen bruce grant guston two shows terry mcginnis ball today stephen

"Actually I went to a PJ championship when I was doing radio Minnesota because they played it at Hazelton, which is course in chaska suburb of the twin cities. And it was the year that why young. Kick the crap out Tiger Woods and people than new Hawaii Yang was. And so it was it was pretty interesting to watch, and it was amazing in, in his prime. The guy's dead. But just won the masters again but in but really when tiger was tiger. It was it was amazing to go to a golf tournament. I'd been doing. I'd been couple before that, but you always knew tiger was on the course. And, and it's not just a gallery that moves with him. It's a city. It's a frigging city and they move in different ways son. Casually walk others run. And I when I say run. I mean it it is it's like the start of a race to get up to any position or they think tiger may be near them in several minutes from then. And it it truly is amazing. So the PJ championship is going on right now. And there's always going to be those aside discussions that are, that are out there and this year, the controversy seems to stem from a decision was made by the PGA to allow one of the golfers to use a cart. And for those of you who don't know when you're talking about the PGA standard PJ event, not the seniors, not the champions, because there is a card aspect to that, which is actually it's, it's a weird one. You can have a cart in in. It could be the golfer, the caddy or the clubs but only two of the three. I have no idea. Why? Seniors, two seats olders. What do I know? But when you're talking about the, the, the main tour there, you don't get to use a cart with very rare. Exceptions. There was a golfer a number of years ago. Who had I can't remember the disease he had. But essentially, he had that disease that, you'll that people sometimes have when other people are screaming at him for parking and a handicapped spot. They're like, hey, you can't tell but I get my body starts to shut down and get very tired just taken a few steps and there was a golfer. Who had that in there is actually quite a bit of a high profile thing going on where he was trying to be able to utilize a cart, and they eventually did let him so the exception is in there for medical now and they, they basically wrote a rule around it. So John Daly, has his knees, all jacked up, and he asked and received permission to utilize a cart to play which judging, by the way, played yesterday will only be two days of the PGA championship. And that started big debate because there's, there's a purity aspect when you get into golf there in because it's the gophers love to say this. It's only sport recall foul on yourself. Now the guys I play with. Cheaters but not all of them just most of them. And so that there is that aspect of golf. And so the idea that you would do something outside of the norm. It's a sport that is so built on traditions. It rubbed its rubbing some of the golfers the wrong way because it's not like he has sought to John Daly has a disease. Like Casey Martin. That, that other golfer did it's that he has he has an injury. Nobody doubts that you could see him limping around off that thing. It's just that other golfers have always had to make a decision to play with the injury. Or do I not participate? And there's a lot of unique reasons why John Daly would participate mostly because he is a, he won the PJ championship back in nineteen Ninety-one. And it's actually it's an amazing story. Amazing story, so and he doesn't he's not making cuts into a bunch of other stuff. He plays a lot of senior stuff. I don't know if he's going to play the SAS. Invent wonderful play the SAS event and the guy booms the ball. He's a crowd favourite for a lot of reasons. There's, there's video of him hinge. Just one of the most ridiculous drives, you got a cart path. Carry one time and I want to say he he he damn near landed a par five just due to the the way the ball rolled. So, John Daly is going to take advantage of something and he has an exemption into being a past champion. So him turning down a tournament like that is, it's not very likely on the PJ side of things because of his, his golf ranking and his age right now. So it and they were asking other golfers. They asked Tiger Woods about it and his comment was something along the lines of well, I walked and I had a broken leg, which is accurate did about that, that moment, but had broke his legs. And so- USA today like many other set out to write a piece talking about how the traditions of golfer, being violated or so. I thought until I read it this morning and a paper that used to actually be a I, I would argue. As down the middle as you're gonna find in most newspapers. Intel their owner the actual founder died, and then moon bats started running amok ran, an op-ed piece where I figured out what their big objection to John Daly is. And they start talking about how he while he may appeal to the masses, his whole act is getting old. And you know what it is? It's that high brow dismissive attitude that a lot of people get irritated with. Dealing with it. The very you know that, you know, the crusty liberal kind of thing. The very dismissive. Very dismissive. Oh, you know, you're just you're just knuckle dragging scotch breath idiot, that very and that irritates people a lot and the smugness that you get out of most of the media leat. That's what you're getting right here. And they still to this day don't understand that rubs, most Americans the wrong way substantially substantially enough to I know elect, Donald Trump is the president. That attitude I played a large part in this, so they go through, and they write this piece. And can you believe this guy shows up? He's got a giant McDonald's Cup filled with diet coke, any smoking a cigarette the whole time. What a piece of crap. Which, by the way, if you think that's just diet coke in there. Right. Ross. You don't even golf is that diet coke in there? Golf after ninety six shooter mcgavin, but no, it's not come on diet coke in there. Are you rooting for shooter mcgavin was who would do that? It's a national treasure, okay? The best. Yeah. Okay. Jackass came along, and ruin the whole sport. Anti punch. Bob barker. Right. National treasure who does that. So what we have shirts dyke coke, whatever at the masters, one of my favorites at the masters because John Daly, couldn't get into the masters. He there's a hooters across the street from Augusta. And because he is he has a sponsorship agreement hooters, they allow them to pull his giant RV in there. So he lives there and he sets up a table with, with all sorts of stuff. So an autographs and Birch and you name it, right and four. He also signs women's bare behinds. Yeah. That's the thing. That's an actual thing. And you know what? That's the every man attitude that, that this USA today reporter is is bothered by, but all of what I just told you isn't even what bothers this reporter, the most what bore, what bothers this, this Eamon Lynch the most. And he spells it out in a paragraph. All of its own is the DASS ity, the John Daly has to be sporting a polo on the shoulder. Emblazoned is the word Trump. Because if there's one subset of Americans who obviously, you're going to irradiate by having the word Trump on your polo. It's a bunch of guys at a country club. Yeah. Yeah. That's. Do so they go through the. Oh, yeah. Absolutely. I read this article. And I'm like, really? That's what that's why you wrote this whole thing right here. You wrote this whole thing because it's not just the cart, which is a lot of people do not bet on it period of the sport. Got it. Let's have that discussion. It's not his physical route is physical fitness routine, which is. Lifting that heavy McDonald's Cup full of something and smoking a cigarette. It's not the pants the pants had Yankees logos all over that. Oh, that you saw awesome. Don't Dessel one. Takeaway. It's that the sleeve of his shirt carried the Trump insignia, the Munster, John Daly, won the ninety one PGA championship, and he wasn't even in the PGA championship until the day before. This is what this is what this is winning it. Well, no basically he was an alternate. He was an alternate. Damn good one. And. Here just because I wanna be a thousand percent accurate on this. All right. He was on the Ben Hogan tour goods qualify tour, web dot com, and everything, of course, she got the, the event going on right here in well, right? Over your house overweight force you go into it. You want tickets, get you up, man says shooter mcgavin in ninety six so he joined the PG in nineteen ninety one after qualifying through the starter tournament played in win anything, though. But Daley who? Just Nick Price. That's right. Nick Price dropped out is pretty well known gopher because his wife had to give birth and shocker she wanted him there. And the hey Honey. It's the PJ championship paralegal work on her so whatever. So they called daily. Hey, you're in guy gets in a car and drives, and I can't remember the number of hours. But basically drives all night gets there, that morning of then proceeds to kick everyone's but for four days. PJ championship. He also won the open. Number of years after that in a playoff against believe Rocco Mediate. Don't ask me, why Nova stuff? I just do. But it you know it's one of those cooler stories and the thing about daily him. Lumber and around with the beer, gut. Right. And that look. That's inspirational to a lot of us. Because if there's one golf used to be that I've played enough little little pro-am things we've done through sponsorships with the radio station, and he was Andy bean was are pro for one of the SAS things one time, and he was talking about how it used to be. And he said, guys like chichi Rodriguez, and others. And I liked how he meant himself probably, but was telling us about other guys, they'd get up to play golf, and they're still be ice in their drinks from the night before. And then the Tiger Woods, the world came in and real and made people realize that unless you had a fitness regiment, and kept took care of herself muscled up, you weren't going to be able to compete, John Daly could hit the ball so damn far. He's like, you know what I'm good with this. And so what made him very popular and the end. So now the fact that we gotta go through this whole rigmarole of this whole article where I'm actually interested in reading it. 'cause some stupid reporter USA today is cheesed over Trump and signi- because believe it or not, sometimes Trump properties and Trump golf courses sponsor. Golfers. Just era -tated the, the crap out of me and they want this guy to just be gone out of their sight, that dismissive smug crap attitude, bluecross blueshield believe everyone should.

"Hawaii has tapped the Paul I would like to know eight years ago who was an ahead of Kuwait. I suppose I could look that up. A Hawaii is the happy state again the wellbeing score for twenty eighteen was sixty four point six the next happiest state, Wyoming. See that coming. I didn't think it'd be Wyoming and number two. Yeah. But there was sixty four point six two. I think this is as Wyoming is nothing like Hawaii sixty four point two. And your highest your top ten highest wellbeing. And then I have the lowest as well. Yeah. 'cause we do what's. Thanks to American weather maker seating a cooling. You got a baby Hawaii wellbeing index score very close to Wyoming. I've never been to Wyoming, and I have no desire to go. There. Nothing about Cheyenne reaches out toward you know thing. Alaska is next in the happiest. Oh, I see here that number three then is Alaska. Number just cold. And sometimes it's night there for eight months in a row without any. Sunlight there really true. No, I exaggerated a little bit. But not by lot seven and a half months. We don't turn the clocks back this weekend. Do or ahead this weekend. Do I don't do it anymore. We will never ever helped me. Made me it always makes me either an hour earlier an hour late for something. So I'm just not doing it anymore. I'm done with it. I don't know. How you do it? Neither do I thought that was a fallacy about Alaska is supposed to be very green and luscious and beautiful. I know they have periods where the sun does not show up where it just stays night for long time. But it was not eight months, but it's a long time. But I I have to be honest. I've been to Hawaii I've been very lucky I've been there four times in my life, and I have loved it. I've loved every minute of it. I could not live there. My friend Vicki lives there. And she loves it. She loves it bell. Does she feel any what they call island fever where all of a sudden it it it hits you that? It's your on a very finite piece of land. He's been out there for like ten twelve years, and she's enjoying every minute loves it does regret the move from here. At some point. She grew up in Brookefield and then lived in Malibu for quite a long time. And then move tougher though. 'cause that kind of gets you ready Malibu would get you ready to live in Hawaii. Yeah. I live in Evanston. That's not a good prep for. No it. Sure isn't very different Hawaii's beautiful. I just don't feel. I could live there because everything is so unbelievably expensive. Yeah. Like, a loaf of bread is like probably twenty dollars. It really is hideously expensive. And that's because you know, they have to fly things in there. You know, it's not the mainland. Puka shells reasonably Christ. I have found unless you're Bobby Brady or Greg or Peter who would wear them. I guess. Yeah. I guess they've come and gone haven't. They. But if you said to me, you can have you you can t today just go you can live there. I wouldn't want. I would I would shoot. The sounds crazy because it's it's always been great here. But it's more. This is more realistic to me. I would like to try it for a while. How long would you last? I don't know. Maybe I'll hang out with Vicky for however long. She'll have me I could the longest I've ever stayed. There is nine days I could stay longer, but I couldn't live there. I was ready to come home. But if that was your home, you'd be home. But then where would you look forward to going on vacation? I don't go on vacation that on. I always want to know that I'm going someplace vacation if I was in Hawaii, I go I'm already here. Oh, then you go to Europe. Oh, yeah. I guess you could go. Yeah. Yeah. You're part of the way they're already. All right. We're Iceland where everyone goes now. That's the new Hawaii everyone's going Iceland for like eleven dollars to seventy seventy five seventy five to go to Iceland. So you have your highest ten of happiest places. Hawaii Wyoming Alaska, I know I should have done it the other way, but really best Montana Utah, Colorado, Vermont Delaware, South Dakota, North Dakota, no states like like, Montana, and Wyoming are too cowboy for me too. Ten gallon has no way a ten gallon baseball cap. What did he even looked up? You see buffalo just their enemies? Wake. What what's he doing something's wrong with that? Man. It's just been out there. And you know that. Yeah. It's like, that's that's that's life. Is you know? Around. There's a lot of sand Utah's. Pretty cool. Isn't that where? Chances. Yeah. Yeah. That was pretty and I don't ski. But it was pretty cool going there. It's very pretty. Yeah. It is very pretty, but Vermont, I've never been Delaware. Oh, yeah. The the New England states fantastic. The Dakotas never been. Which one is the. He's more north North Dakota. You there? This way more south, South Dakota. These are the lowest.

"You said blended average is six percent so extra you pay should go to the highest interest rate. Student loan. You have and pay the others is agreed. Okay. So best to you and your career you earning enough money that this is all going to pay off. Oh, yes. Absolutely. It's definitely worth it. So I wouldn't change anything just trying to get things paid off and save at the same time. Well, you obviously have a great attitude about money. Where'd that come from in your background all of that? My dad who is an avid listener of your show and has been pushing me to call in an office question. It's actually his birthday this week. So huge thing said he has been she needs to save since I soon as I graduated. He said I had to start saving wish your data. Happy birthday on the air eight happy birthday that I know. He's listening right now. All right. Great. So keep living your life. The way you are gives you power and control over what happens financially in your life for the rest of your life Ted's with us on the Clark Howard show. Hello, ted. Hey clark. It's a pleasure to speak with you. Well, great to have you here. So you're thinking of going to Hawaii. That's right. So we live in central Florida, and our family is planning a vacation to Hawaii in July, and we would like to fly on southwest vantage up their free checked bags and to use of our south west miles for free tickets. But unfortunately, their new Hawaii approvals work delay at least in part due to the recent government shutdown. No, that's all the reason they were delayed. Yes. So we wanted to pull on your expertise to figure out how long do you think we should wait on south west before we give up and book on a competitor for this July? So I don't have inside information. I can only tell you what I've been reading on aviation blogs that southwest should be selling tickets for Hawaii sometime in the next couple of weeks. So you're not going to have to wait long. And there's an advantage unless they offer an ultra low mileage redemption as an introductory special from Orlando to whichever Hawaiian island you want to go to their southwest entry in the market is going to set off an all out fair war on the Hawaiian island routes. And something you may need to watch is you may find that. You may wanna do a redemption points to one of their four west coast departure cities, which are San Diego, Sacramento, gosh, I should know him. All anyway, there's four departure points, and you may find that you'll redeem a smaller number of points redeeming one ticket to the west coast in a second ticket from the west coast to the Hawaiian islands. That makes sense. Yeah. That's super helpful. Really? Appreciate that. We're going to be watching really closely to see how that shakes out, and we will post on Clark deals. What happens with the fares to Hawaii, Alaska and Hawaiian had been very aggressive offering deals over the last few weeks bouquets. They're trying to prep the market that oh, you don't need southwest routine. Fairs? We already have cheap fares. When the fact is the only reason they're offering all these cheap fares is because they're terrified of southwest entering the markets. So it's gonna be fun. I can pretty much guarantee that I'm going to be going to Hawaii before not too long because of the fare wars. So clark. Sure as far as how cheap they're going to get I'm guessing that the west coast to Hawaii is gonna drop to two hundred round trip, more or less. And it's gonna go on for awhile accommodations costs will rise some because of the sheer number of people that are going to take advantage of the sales to go to Hawaii. But it's gonna be. Just such a great opportunity if you never been to Hawaii or it's been too long for you to be able to go back and Joel did you find the other two market since I forgot. Nope. Sorry. Haven't found him yet. Yeah. Believe I don't remember them. Right. Automatically out of my head. Well, Casey's with us on the Clark Howard show. Hi, casey. How are you today? Great. Thank you. Casey. You got a question for me about saving money easily. Yes. So I've been seeing a lot of advertisements on.

"Does that saying? Well, if you've got six Republicans that crossed over on that particular Bill to the democratic side, it means that there's some cracking. It means that you have Republicans, and it's beyond some of the flimsy, wishy washy ones that we know of it appears that there is some cracking that there's some buckling. And that there is not full backing within Trump's own Republican party. So what that means is that that particular Bill got more votes than than President Trump's Bill. So I just don't see any damn end in sight here. Oh speaking, and I'm going to try to get I'm putting some feelers out to some of my pilot pals because if you're just tuning in we talked about the joint letter from the pilot's union, the air traffic controllers union the flight attendants union, the joint statement that they're concerned about security and safety in the skies with the shutdown and I had asked the question Ellison. I think it's very valid. But is there any melodrama here? And the real indication would be if the skies are not safe with the shutdown. The TSA officers not getting paid air traffic controllers not getting paid. And we don't want air traffic controllers any more stress than the inherent stress that the job provides organically. I think we're all in agreement there. I asked the question last hour have any pilots said, hey, we're not flying these planes because we don't think it's safe to fly. I haven't seen that happen yet. And it seems to me that would be a much bigger statement. Then an actual formal statement being put out as a press release. If pilots starts saying, it's not safe. We don't feel comfortable for our lives and the lives of the souls that were responsible for on these planes that hasn't happened yet. I think that would be a real turning point and an indication, and I want I'm reaching out to some of my pilot pals commercial pilot Powell's via text to see if any are available now they could come on the show. And let me float that scenario by them. Do they feel safe? And is there concern short-term remedial term that or right now that safety is truly in jeopardy here? Eight hundred eight zero one eighty nine ninety nine the nationwide number here on Schnitt. That's what gets you on the program. Eight hundred eight zero one eighty nine ninety nine as far as economic damage to the airlines I saw a story in USA today. Earlier today that Southwest Airlines is saying that their new Hawaii flights might be delayed for months because of the shutdown. I just I saw the headline I printed the story. It says that Southwest Airlines long-awaited flights to Hawaii are likely to be delayed for months due to the government shutdown executives said today Thursday, it is the first time the airline is put a timetable on the impact of the shutdown southwest CEO or make that c o Mike van. Van the van V A N D V E N, Mike van Devon. Said the airline has a reasonable chance of beginning service by the end of March if the shutdown ends within a week, otherwise it will actually be in the second quarter. And of course, that's April may and June. And they hope to begin the flights early this year, but the shutdown put its efforts to obtain FAA administration certification for the long over water flights on their seven thirty seven extended aircraft put that on hold. So that's what's going on with southwest. All right to the phones. Oh, and now we're hearing because of that that south west has lost ch- southwest. Airlines says the shutdown which began December twenty second has cost an estimated ten to fifteen million dollars in lost revenue so far for January. So that's not good again economically. We're starting to hear that the first quarter because of the shutdown could have zero economic growth for the US economy. It's also not good. John is next in Tallahassee Florida, John, you're on Schnitt. Welcome to the program. Thank you. Appreciate it. President Trump blank. No, he didn't make the guys the master jerking. The chain jerk change. Bark. She's claims she hollered and she threatened. Look. That's her house. We have three branches of government. She is in charge of the house. And if she don't want the president of the United States come there speak. She has that authority. So what did he do? He got hurt just to go ahead and take her clothes off and bear south for the entire world that she don't want anything and she'll embarrass him. Anyway that she can. But he pulled that chain long enough long enough. And then he just let it go. Let it go and said, okay. Yes, ma'am. Again, it's fully John. It's open to interpretation on how you view it. Because yesterday, we were and I use the -nology of you know, Trump is a denying Caterpillar bulldozer. Nancy Pelosi is a model denying Caterpillar bulldozer. And in fact, maybe I should upper to the the larger d eleven model, but they're both pushing it each other. And they were both not budging Trump said the state of the union is going gonna happen yesterday afternoon. Nancy Pelosi said, no, it's not and then Trump and eleven o'clock last night tweeted out that okay? Alkyl is not going to happen. So again, I view that as Trump moved trumped swerved from the oncoming headlights of Nancy Pelosi, not the other way around. I I think Trump did blink here. I'm sorry. We're in we're in disagreement. Agree to disagree. And then let's take one step farther. So let's just say one of the things that you're worried about and we're all worried about is that can be a catastrophe happened because of the problems with the with the airlines are possible safety of the airline's. Yup. Look the left and left us never found a tragedy in my lifetime. And I'm almost eight years old. They have never found a tragedy that they couldn't blame on somebody else. Somebody else to blame. It blamed on the other guy, and they have enough people to believe no matter what they say. They're gonna push it and use that tragedy is one and God, we're praying for they don't have one. And they're saying boy if we get one we're gonna blame that on Trump. Well, listen, I mentioned this. And if something does happen, I hope there's not a terrorist attack. You don't listen. We're also hearing regarding the FBI that the FBI that there are investigations that there are we have the FBI agents association. They're also making comments there's a there's a a letter. That's gone out from the FBI agents association that the shutdown is undermining criminal counter terrorism and counter intelligence operations. And again, I've said on this program numerous times, and you heard me say it again today that I sure as hell sure as hell hope that there's no type of a a terrorist incident or any type of a tragedy a catastrophe an accident that can even remotely be blamed on the shutdowns. I said that now for a couple of weeks on this program. And and and, you know, also sues reminding me, my executive producer that they're losing informants right now because we're not able to pay informants. So I mean, there are a lot of little levels, which a lot of folks don't even know which is occurring because of the shutdown. So is this country less safe? I it seems that. Yeah. On multiple levels. It is. So again for weeks. Now, I've been talking about I hope there's no catastrophe or cra- tragedy. We mentioned it again with the air traffic control system, just a short time ago earlier today, and I tweeted out, and I'll give you the exact time. I tweeted out at ten thirty six this morning on the twenty fourth of January twenty nineteen. I tweeted out the longer this government shutdown continues the greater the chances of a catastrophic event of affecting our country. And then I end with who wants that on their watch. Who would get the blame? If there really is something horrific that happens. John, thanks for the call. I appreciate you taking the time to phone in Dallas next on Schnitt. Hello, Dale, you're on headed. Hey, I got a question. Maybe I'm just don't know what I'm talking about. But why is it who picks what part of the government shutdown? I mean, why can't they take Congress's paycheck away from them and give it to the eight hundred thousand people that aren't getting paid because at least they're working. It's a very fair question. We we've talked about this before you know, why is congress? Still getting paid staffers are not getting paid. And there's a there's a simple answer to this. And it's one of these situations that doesn't make complete sense. And certainly it's it's an uneven playing field. So those who are behind this. They still get paid. So members of congress, the president still get paid. But you have, you know, eight hundred thousand plus federal workers that are not getting paid. You know, they're they're they're being sent home. They're furloughed or they're not getting paid. And they're asked to come to work because they're doing essential work. So why is it what what happens here that the the members of the Senate and the house can still get a paycheck and others? Don't and it comes down to the government shutdown only affects certain agencies and employees in the government. That are subject to. Voted upon appropriations that are done annually. So it doesn't affect so it's those that are paid through annual appropriations those are the people that are -ffected because the salaries for senators Dale, the salaries for house of representatives members those are written permanently into federal law. So that's why you have that disparity that paradox that uneven playing field if that makes sense. Well, I mean, it makes sense. But I mean, it's so stupid way to do things. It is I. The people that make the laws that can vote themself raises. They can do, you know, keep themselves from having to take the same insurance that we we have to take. It comes down to it comes down to let me work. The other end of what you're saying in that. If they're making the laws are they going to vote to not get paid during a shutdown? So I think the answer is clear Dale, thanks for the call Linda is next. Let's stay in the state of Florida. Linda's in Tampa. Hello, linda. Hi. Hello. Yes. I just wanted to make a comment on the preface this by I voted for Trump. But I just feel the eight hundred thousand plus people that are furloughed are. It's just seems like Trump and Pelosi thing it's just collateral damage for political war, and they don't count. Listen. Own the shutdown. He did. The Democrats as well one hundred percent. And I I don't know how Trump then disowns that. But you're right. The president did say that I will what did he say what was the exact quote, then I'll take the mantle shut down the aisle on the shutdown all take the mantle for the shot too. I remember I saw the I saw the audio. He was sitting with Pelosi and Schumer inside the Oval Office. And that video was all over the network news. We played the audio hearing your hundred percent, right. And then, you know, Trump has tried to walk that back and then try to blame the Democrats here. But I get he took ownership. And but a lot of, you know, Trump train folks will they'll they'll just agree and and and bobblehead their head and agree with anything that he says, even when he clearly absolutely says something one day, and then changes it the next day, and those are some of the areas where I disagree with Trump. And I think that this is owned by him. And the fact that he said that he will own it. I you can't just flip that thing off like a light switch. But unfortunately, there are a lot of Trump's supporters that think that you can just flip.
