I'm a Patriots Fan but I love Tom Brady as much as I love the Patriots now. What's shocking to me skip? I'm not surprised that Michigan. Obviously Tom Brady played at the University of Michigan. I'm not surprised at Florida. Obviously he's employed now. But when I look at Wisconsin South Carolina Colorado what the hell they know but what they are. They got going on down there that we don't know about so I'm surprised. I'm shocked with Wisconsin. 'cause you know who's in Wisconsin. Wisconsin is what the Hell's going on Wiscon- Air Roger. You should be mad about this and South Carolina Colorado's give I don't get that but all the other states. I don't have a problem with Tom. Brady play twenty years in the New England area so them by jerseys is almost like he's families. Get big big big watching Tom Brady. So I'm not surprised. I am shocked. Pleasantly shocked by this and once again Shannon. You're not giving credit where credit is due. What always happens when a star decides to leave a team and a city in an area. The fans feel betrayed. They feel jilted. They feel spurned. What happened when Lebron left Cleveland to take his talents to South Beach? They burned his jersey. Some people burned his jersey. Not Everybody but son did what happened when Grevin durant chose to take his talents.

"They had to stop. I mean I was like what are you gonNA do walk up to a house. There is a retired couple in their their vacation. Home and what physically dragged them out. I guess and I'm being in like a seal baton just hitting them people have these reactions. Thank guys this is the United States. Can't pull people over concern out-of-state driver because they're in our state driver beating club. I'm being a seal with a club. we went to last week. I took the boys to Local Beach Robert Moses beach and this was you know this is like March and March. And there's a seal population and the seals routinely will come out of the water and just rest on the beach and I just read an article about a lot of people think that the seals are in distress. That you know. They're injured or something they're just rests on the beach and they're going up to the seals and we we came across a seal. He was just looked like a young seal and it was just hanging out on the beach and then this guy is like oh you sick. And he runs to his car and gets a hamburger buns and starts throwing them at the seal the seal other get. It's like what are you doing? And he's throwing it at at the seal. The seal is barking and hissing at him. Like to get away because now he's gotten so close to the seal that the thinks that he's GonNa like you know it's a defense mechanism righty scared. And there's just like ripped up hamburger buns around the seal and then just like the guys calling like protective animal protective services. I'm like dude. Just keep on walking him and his wife or taking pictures and sell fees by the sea on the keep walking. Just keep moving. So if it's a six seal in your mind The person's mind. Your solution is to take a selfie with yes because after the invariably at this time of the year because the beaches are desolate this time of year. It's only because the corona virus that people are there Nine Times out of ten. The seal is just resting on the beach just taking a break from swimming. I mean there are. There are some injured seals. But it's a handful. The vast majority of them are just resting but people WANNA medically assume because they've never seen a seal rested on the beach because they don't do that in the summer because too many idiots out there that the seals is somehow injured in the seals are probably like God damn it all these people here again like that. Well meaning ignorance We'll just have wait. I haven't got a hamburger bun let's in a car burger the signed. I know the seal's going to love the hamburger by seal's going. What is this guy? Do you unrest in here fish. I might eat a fish. I don't need a hamburger bun too many carbohydrates Yes so messaging is I mean every company efficiently runs on a consistent messaging. Would you say that's that's probably accurate? I would say that's accurate like I mean. I think that's the hallmark of a successful companies that there is a voice whether it's one lone voice sorts of some sort of committee and You know that they're on message. Wash your hands social distancing and two story with camping complicated and if you have some kind of mass you can wear something or your nose and mouth. Please do that. You know and that there was a guy on CNN. This morning. I was just watching it and he says if you at least cover your mouth and your nose. You're saving something like he had a number like you're saving four thousand. Something dollars in health costs that because you could be spreading the virus like he was very specific. Here's here's what you should do. Wear a mask here. The benefits of it you're going to halt or or slow down the spread of the virus. And you just have something in front of your mouth and nose. That's going to help. That's like okay there you go. I don't need to do any more research than that. He's given me something I can do. And I'm sure we're going to see a lot of homemade. Mass like people making them like tampons pads. Put two rubber bands around that strap that bad boy and you face. Hey that probably would be pretty effective. I think yeah. Actually we should be we should we should brand that and sell them the TWA mask it's roughly as effective as the soap hocking. "Thanks for having us here at a wonderful bells event here for dark Knight darker beers. Yeah. This is a really cool event fantastic list of a very dark beers available. You know, the nights are getting longer it. We're getting the time of year where the nights are the longest nights of the year. So why not enjoy some very dark beers on these dark nights? I love this time of year because it does get cold. It goes does get dark, and you know, you just want to stay inside and start a fire and find a Honey to cozy up with on the couch and opened up a bottle of nice big boozy kind of how I do. So thank you Steve from blue plate for inviting us out for this. We really appreciate it. If you obviously can't make it tonight. And if you're listening. Happened. But some of these beers will certainly be on tap over the weekend. So head on up to maple grove hit up. Three Spurs the food. Here is amazing. You got some fantastic guests in the show coming up with Shelley from studio distilling, we've got Matt from bowel house and joining us. Now, we've got handy from fells how you doing any fantastic. So anybody worth their salt knows beer knows belts. But you know, maybe there's some folks who need an introduction. Maybe there's some folks soon. A bit of a of a reintroduction tell us about. Bell's beer, giving Reader's Digest version agree with you. Like as the craft beer world. Expands aren't familiar with that? So a little bit about us. We're a still a one hundred percent independent and family owned brewery. We started. As as a business in Kalamazoo, Michigan in one thousand nine hundred eighty three as a as Kalamazoo brewing company a home ruining supply store. Yeah. And then two years later, we sold our first beer as ellsbury kinda still Kalamazoo brewing company with bells attached to it. And then kind of made its way just to fell's berry. Eventually, so we're basically thirty five years old since the day that Larry bell Inc. The company. As a young an independent, which is the biggest thing that we're very proud. He's a kind of a figurehead of the craft beer industry. Very legendary figure your for a lot of reasons. Have you met? Larry's ears. You guys. Text message. Larry's a busy guy at the great thing about Larry and kind of being an icon and running a largely largest company when we're in town in Kalamazoo for sales meetings, and he will be there, and he will have conversation with us. We will have a happy hour. Larry. At least once a week while we're there for sales meetings, and he will make a point to be available and talk to you. And he's a great conversationalist. He's hilarious. Has an opinion on everything which is fantastic. Walk us through the I guess the main core beers of the bells lineup. Yeah. The one everyone knows whether you've had one or not is to Dale. That's our best selling beer. It's the number one rated IFA crappier in the country by two years by the American homeowners association. It's the one that really people identify brewery by. That was really a gateway to the benchmark IP. Apple might've been one of their first different out there. I sort of non macro. Yeah. Beer, like if you go to a bar, and you're not really sure what you want. But you see things that you recognize. I don't know that I don't know that somebody PA bells to Ardeshir, Nevada pale. There are things that. Associate with craft beer, and that they know of heard about it. Whether they've had it or not. Dell's too hard before I knew the craft beer who was even before before. Craft beer was called craft beer is beer. Yeah. Microbrews? So you mentioned, you know, Sierra Nevada. Some some beers. That's me. Really akin to bells and and too hard specifically where if you're in a bar, and there's fifty beers which. That's a whole nother conversation. Fifty years one hundred beers on. If you see a bunch of stuff, you're not you're with, and you know, that you want to quality beer, you know, that you can rely on to hard at being a certain standards absolutely at the same time with every beer and even locally beers. Really go up and down down. They don't have the consistency. That I think bells is known for. Yeah. It's just quality consistency is at the core of what we do. Just making a quality product every single time. So after after two heart, and what's next on the list of core courses, a lot of people don't realize that when we started our brewery, we kicked it off with amber ale, and what's what what what's the name your number AL? It's called Amarillo. In the eighties. There wasn't a need to make like these various purpose names. Right. We made it was originally called Great Lakes, amber ale, we shorten it to amber ale some time later, but it's the very first year we ever brewed. And we still grew it, and I like to call it the drinkers amber ale, it's got a very clean bitterness at the very end of the palate. It doesn't beat you over the head with hops. It's not the point of that fear that showcases very slates Brady, piscotty malt. Little Carmel note. Very clean bidders at the end. So I would curricula try that you'll find that in stores. One of the beers that early beers for us. It's on tap tonight. Is our porter how that came out in the very early on in our history. Kalamazoo stout. We still brew. It's also an early recipe lager. Lakes was a little bit later came around in the early two thousands thousand maybe. Horsman which is my favorite beer that we make. It's a very light tart sessional, wheat beer, and we were playing around with that around two thousand three now session beers out. There certainly not a lotta sours or tarts or anything like that. We're thinking a little bit ahead of the curve on both ends on session and sour. Yeah. But it's not really sour. But. For sure. Yeah. And then next year early next year. We're adding a new beer to are year round portfolio called official are hazy. Okay. So we're still waiting. We're still trying to make we wanna make sure that people wanna drink. So we're going to that core portfolio that core brand is it's gonna change. The bells way, but also keeping up with sometimes. So how how difficult is it? I'm assuming you're gonna have that beer in cans and rumor that Fels is going to be national possibly next year. Is that is that accurate or is that just not next year? That is a goal. Hopefully some. It is a future in. I would say we're in forty states right now, we rounded out with a say you got to be pretty close to. The dates came this summer, we we rounded out with Colorado in September. And then we did. Slew up New England states. Maine, New Hampshire Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, etcetera to round allocate states in the over. The course of the summer leave out one St. well out of spite. Stay that. We're really trying to work on is Oklahoma. Doesn't deserve your baby. Look at our map were all around were every around Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Oklahoma strives to really rectify some of their really goofy beer laws. Exactly. That's the reason. New Jersey you had some pretty goofy beer laws. I don't know if they changed or not or we just said, hey, we're we'll deal with it. Well, let's go there. But we found out that. But that's the reason why we're not there yet. But I would say at some point we will be in the least the lower forty-eight hours beyond that. I couldn't give you a time line. I think Larry likes it that way to my question was as being a brewery that suspect to be national, or at least the lower forty-eight, how difficult is it to put out a hazy in a can like that. Is it difficult to keep particulate in suspension with our beer's since its own natural. It's not filtered. It's we don't put flower or any kind of coagulant or anything. Keep it in suspension Asia's natural. So it will take a little bit rousing you'll general shake on the bottle or the or the can. But it's going to have that as I think the challenge, but we've been tweaking it for almost two years. We've had different versions. Always like Larry's latest. EPA we'll tweak it like it was going to be a week. We changed. Here's altogether together. Decided hey, we're gonna make it a hazy. But that recipe is basically been worked on for better part of two years. Whether it be trial runs at the center cafe or tests kegs in our market. We finally got that recipe. This is taking some time. We are up against a break. Chatting with with bells we've got Shelley from studio distilling hanging out as well. Let's come back with run through some of what's being offered to here at three square site. Plus we'd get into a few news items before chatting with studio distilling. This is Minnesota beer cast.
