Packed Black Friday sports schedule

"AP sports I'm Tom Miriam. On Black Friday, the NBA and NHL were as busy as the shopping malls. 14 NBA games and 13 on the ice were played the day after both leagues were off for Thanksgiving. The Celtics added to their league leading record by beating searching Sacramento as Jason Tatum scored 30 with help from the Boston bench. I think when we might have been down for the end of the half of ten, he knows because of those guys came in and just changed the momentum. The bucks kept pace by beating the Cavaliers thanks largely to a 35, ten third quarter in which Bobby port has played a key role. Felt good for us overall as a basketball team, because it felt like we was playing books, basketball, for a chance. Victories also for the Lakers heat suns, warriors, nuggets, grizzly sixers pacers, rockets, thunder hornets, and the trailblazers in overtime over the Knicks. NHL, the bruins became the first team to win its first 12 home games in the season, as they beat the hurricanes three to two in overtime on David pasternak's gold. Big win for us, obviously, and coming from behind, you know, after Thanksgiving, the game is never easy, so it's good with. The devil's after having their 13 game win streak snap bounced back with a three one win in Buffalo. Other winners, the capitals penguins islanders red wings, Maple Leafs Canadians kraken jets, senators kings and lightning, with Braden points scoring too early goals. I think both teams were into it right away. It was nice to get a couple goals for us early. Pretty good jump on the game. I thought it was a fun game. World Cup soccer, the United States finished in a scoreless tie with England as coach Greg berhalter's young team had the better scoring chances. Overall, pleased with the performance of the group, most importantly, the belief of the group, because that never wavered. The U.S. now must be to ran on Tuesday to advance to the knockout round. Plenty of college action on Black Friday, football winners included four ranked teams tulane, Florida state UCLA and Texas, and basketball top ranked North Carolina lost a wire with state. US earns respect at World Cup, but wins remain elusive

"The U.S. men's soccer team finished in a scoreless time with England and now must be to ran on Tuesday in order to advance to the knockout round. America's Christian Pulisic have the best opportunity to score, hitting the crossbar and left footed kick in the 33rd minute. The Americans had more good scoring opportunities than their higher rated English counterparts, particularly in the second half, but could not get the goal that coach Greg burr holt has team needed for the win. Overall, pleased with the performance of the group, most importantly, the belief of the group because that never wavered. American goalie Matt Turner was solid and net making three saves. The U.S. took 7 corner kicks while England had only three. I'm Tom Mary

Native Americans observe National Day of Mourning

"An annual protest has been held in Plymouth, Massachusetts, where Native Americans decried the arrival of the pilgrims in 1620. The United American Indians of New England had declared Thanksgiving Day to be a national day of mourning. Members of the wampanoag tribe mourn the arrival of the colonists accusing them of bringing illness, racism and oppression to Native American people. This is kisha James. When people celebrate the myth of Thanksgiving, they are not only erasing our genocide, but also celebrating it. The group is calling for better policies to protect Native Americans and land restitution. I'm Jackie Quinn

Bill Federer Shares the Story of Squanto

"One of the stories that we have to include is squanto. And if I have a few minutes, I'd be happy to share that. Continue. So the pilgrims were religious, but there were other groups that weren't and they were pirates. So Spain had a monopoly on the new world for at least a century, and they had gold from Inca Peru and portobello Panama and they take it to Cuba and ship it and these Dutch and French and English pirates would raid the gold, but they would also sail up the coast of North America. Lure unsuspecting Indians on board, lock them below deck, take them over to malaga, Spain and sell them into slavery. So one of the Indians that was captured was squanto and the story is he was purchased by some monks in Spain who gave him his freedom. He hitchhikes his way across Europe, gets to England. He's there for a dozen years working, learning the language and the family finds some business that takes him to Newfoundland, right? A fishing type outfit. And then he gets the boat to drop him off at Plymouth, Massachusetts, only to find his whole tribe is dead. They were wiped out by a plague, William Bradford writes that three years earlier, a French ship was shipwrecked off the case, the coast of Cape Cod. Sailors got ashore, Indians never left watching them and bogging them, till they got the advantage killed them all, but three or four maybe sport with them worse than slaves. Anyway, one of those French men must have had an illness and the Indians didn't have immunity and it wipes out the tribe. So sort of in a reverse sense had squanto not been captured in kidnapped. He most certainly would have died. But squanto is living with the neighboring wampanoag tribe and then that fall is when the pilgrims show up. Half of the pilgrims die the first winner. They wouldn't have survived another year. Spring of 1621, walking into their camp is squanto. And you can just picture the conversation. I mean, he's in his loincloth and he goes up and he goes, oh yeah, you guys from London, I used to live there. You know, oh yeah, the pump down on war street or St. Paul's chapel. He goes, oh, yeah, yeah, I know that place. And then he says, oh, this place here, I grew up here. I know this place like the back of my hand over that hill is a spring. And William Bradford says he taught him how to catch fish. He said, you know, that they weren't successful, but he says, don't use salmon. They spawn this river. It's going to be packed. And then he taught him how to plant corn. They said, we tried it. He goes, no, you got to dig a hole, put some fish in, then put the kernel of corn and cover it up. The fish decompose fertilizes the soil. You have a nice harvest. Bottom how to take the corn and put it in a pot, shake it and make popcorn, right? And then he taught him how to go down to the riverbank squeegee in the mud and catch eels and clams and lobsters and then how to catch beaver skins. It took 40 years worth of beaver skins to pay off their debt for the boat ride,

The Origins of Thanksgiving With Bill Federer

"Bill, tell us, why do we celebrate Thanksgiving? What is the story of Thanksgiving? Well, the little background. So the king of England was a globalist. He was a one world government guy with him at the top. The British empire controlled in the Australia New Zealand Hong Kong brisk ionic Canada Barbados Bermuda Jamaica and America. And so America's founders wanted to break away from this globalist one world government king. And so they flipped it and made the people became. And so where did they get this idea that you could rule yourself without a king? Well, it came from the pilgrims and that it came from the calvinist Puritans that came from the reformation and then they got their ideas from ancient Israel. That first 400 years out of Egypt, it's called the Hebrew republic. And it's the first instance in recorded history of a nation with millions of people and no king. And there's around 1400 BC up to about a thousand BC. And it worked because every single citizen was taught the law. And they were personally accountable to God to follow the law. So this period of history is called the Hebrew republic. And these calvinist puritan scholars study this so intently that they were nicknamed Christian hebrews. So in 1517, Martin Luther starts the reformation and for about a century before the age of enlightenment, you have these scholars in Europe studying, not just the Bible in their own language, but this particular first 400 year period, this Hebrew republic. And that's why they taught Hebrew at Yale and Harvard. They were amazed at coming up with a form of government without a king. And again, it's based on this idea that you teach everybody the law and then everybody walks around aware that they're accountable to a God who's watching them watch them to be fair and it's going to hold them accountable in the future.

Tarantino Is Making Excuses for Not Standing up to Harvey Weinstein

"I was there. Obviously you know, my ear was not only to the ground. It was below the ground. Both ears. I heard everything back then and Harvey was close to me. I talked to him several days a week. I never heard a rape story. Now, Quentin Tarantino was closer to Harvey. They worked together in tandem. I'm sure he heard something. Let's not forget the fact that Brad Pitt wanted Harvey Weinstein when Harvey made a play for Gwyneth Paltrow or some kind of shit in Brad Pitt, let him know. Even Ben Affleck, let him know, this shit doesn't wash with me. So the stories were out there and guys like Quentin Tarantino would have heard that more than me, but you know, look, I understand, look, you do this to me, you're not gonna get this movie. I never heard actresses talking like that. You know, Quentin said he heard, don't get in the back of a limo with this guy. Courtney Love said something to that effect on the red carpet one day. But it's funny. My girlfriend, the girlfriend, will tell me, no, no, I even heard that stuff, and I wasn't even there, but I heard it. And I'm like, I don't know what to tell you. I didn't hear it, and I was a gossip columnist. I'm not lying to you. I heard the hobby was a bully. I heard he got things done. I assumed he got laid like every other studio had got late since Louis V mayor. But, you know, bathrobe, raping, injecting drugs into his penis to get hard. No, I never heard any of that stuff. Or else, I would have done what Quentin Tarantino said he would have done. Like I did for Harvey when I found out he was banging some girl in England and, you know, cheating on his first wife. I would have said, hey, boss. Because there was no reason not to call him Boston. He wasn't, you know, condemned yet. I was a boss. I don't know what's going on, but here's what I hear. There's a story out there that you're raping chicks. I'm going to put it right in his lap. Not to threaten him that I was going to write the story, but I want to, like I said here, here's this bomb diffusing. It's out there. So, you know, I don't know, but I really think Quentin Tarantino because of his position and because Harvey took him under his wing, Quentin Tarantino can tell you all he wants that he never heard this stuff. I don't believe it. And some people will tell you when did Paltrow's father was a top director. And her mother, Blythe Danner, was a star. But the person who went to Weinstein about his behavior toward her was Brad Pitt. Who was a born fan at the time. So how can people not know about this guy doing that shit? So you know Quentin Tarantino was on the front lines. I think he's full of shit when he talks about this. He's making excuses for why he didn't stand up like a real man and confront Harvey.

"So don't expect Evan Lloyd to be available at 21. JC Jackson's market still unclear at this point, whether the Patriots are going to franchise tag the star cornerback or not, but Mike giardi of NFL network reporting that he is going to have robust interest in the free agent market at the Patriots do let him get to unrestricted free agency. He will probably break the bank and free agency and it's going to have a difficult time for the Patriots to retain Jackson if he is not tagged before the deadline on March 8th. And last but not least, Andy Isabella, the former UMass wide receiver, drafted by the Arizona Cardinals, has requested a trade and has been granted permission by the Cardinals to shop his services to other teams. Isabella's agent confirming to steal an S media that Isabella does want out of Arizona and he's gonna begin talking to other teams at the beginning of the league year and march and as the draft approaches about trading for the former UMass star, he would Andy Isabella that is be entertained by an offer from the Patriots. He would like to come to New England as a possibility, although he is not your typical slot receiver that the Patriots have gone after in the past. He's not less Welker. He's not really Julian Edelman. He's more of a vertical receiver than that. Maybe like Tampa Bay Scotty Miller for patriots fans that have watched a lot of bucks games over the last couple of years. That is one player I would compare Isabella to at the NFL level. He's had a really difficult time cracking the lineup in Arizona only one catch for 13 yards last year for the Cardinals. So that is your wrap up from the combine on Wednesday here on steel and as media dot com and on patriots press pass. Keep it right here. As we get into the workout portion of the week.

"What the NFL scouting combine in full swing on Wednesday, a lot of news and notes and regards to the Patriots and we start with meetings. Yes, combine meetings, probably the biggest part for teams now in Indianapolis other than the medical evaluations that their team physicians do in India every single year is meetings, getting face to face with their personnel execs and the top draft picks in the NFL Draft in 2022 and the Pats are doing their homework on this wide receiver class. We've already reported on the fact that the Patriots met with three of the top wide receivers so far in indie and Ohio State's Chris olave, Alabama's Jameson Williams and Arkansas wide receiver treylon Burks on top of those three. We can also add to the list more top prospects out of the wide receivers meeting with New England and Alabama's John metchie who played with Mac Jones at Alabama and had a great rapport with Mac during that national championship season in 2020 and Kentucky do it all gadget wide receiver Juan Dale Robinson also confirmed a meeting with the New England Patriots brass in Indianapolis. So you have pretty much every top wide receiver prospect in the draft telling reporters in indie that they have met with New England at some point in the process. This goes on the heels of a lot of rumors connecting the Patriots to trade targets as well, such as Calvin Ridley, the Atlanta Falcons, and at this point, although this could just be smokescreen for the Patriots and we should mention that these meetings come with a grain of salt. This is a fact finding mission in Indianapolis. The Patriots are doing their due diligence by talking to all these wide receiver prospects and just because they had a meeting with them at the combine. Doesn't necessarily indicate that they are interested in drafting that player in April. But still, the Pats are kicking the tires on every available wide receiver. And at this point, it would be shocking if a legitimate wide receiver impact type of player at that position was not brought in by Bill Belichick this off season. We also heard from former patriots offensive coordinator and current raiders head coach Josh McDaniels, he was asked a lot of patriots questions at the podium today in the convention center in Indianapolis..

"Our exclusive wagering partners at bet online dot AG. On the Thursday, injury report for the Patriots, once again, the lone DNP for New England was cornerback JC Jackson. He was not at practice for the second consecutive day due to an illness in terms of Jackson's status for Sunday. I'm told that this illness is not believed to be serious for Jackson. It is not related to COVID-19, either, but the Patriots have a little bit of a history of not playing players that don't practice during the week, but that history has gone by the wayside with a few examples this season, some uncharacteristic examples, if you will, Isaiah win did not practice all week long due to COVID-19 being on COVID-19 protocol, then he was activated on Saturday before a Sunday game and played in the game on Sunday. Devon God Shaw also did not practice all week long a few weeks ago with a finger injury, and then was at least in some packages for the game on Sunday for the New England Patriots. So although Bill Belichick's history says JC Jackson missing two consecutive days of practice, if he's not back out there on Friday, misses all three days typically, that means he will not play on Sunday, but this year it's been a little bit different for Bill Belichick. So don't rule JC Jackson out just yet, especially until we see what happens with him on Friday. On the other side for the Carolina Panthers, some developments at the quarterback position, four Carolina, starter Sam darnold was not spotted during the media portion of practice for porters down in Carolina, said that darnold did participate in a limited capacity in some drills before the media was allowed to view practice, but PJ walker, the Panthers backup has taken all the first team reps on Wednesday and Thursday and is slated to start on Sunday against the Patriots. So more than likely New England due to a concussion and a right shoulder issue for Sam darnold after taking some big hits in that win over the Atlanta Falcons last week and all likelihood, it will be PJ walker under center for the Carolina Panthers and not Sam darnold. We will have you covered for this patriots Panthers game in week 9 on Sunday, one p.m. kick-off for the Patriots on seon S media and on patriots press pass so.

"Wagering partners at bet online dot AG. A day after the Patriots fell to the New Orleans Saints 28 to 13 at Gillette stadium in week three, some injured news trickling out about patriots that left Sunday's game, most notably running back James White did indeed suffer a sub collection of the hip during yesterday's loss to the saints, this most likely means that white will go on injured reserve, no timetable right now for James White's return and no word on whether or not this is season ending for the Patriots veteran running back. One of the team captains, a go to receiver for Mac Jones in the early going of the season. And somebody that really seemed to put a difficult 2020 season both on and off the field behind him for the 2021 campaign and looked like the old James White until that injury yesterday on a run to the left side, went into the same sideline and did not get up and had to be carted off the field in the first half against New Orleans. It is a hip flexion for James White and an IR stint is likely for the Patriots running back patriots head coach Bill Belichick also informed us on Monday morning that linebacker jawan Bentley left the second half against the saints with an injury. So Bentley's absence from that final drive against New Orleans was indeed injury related and lastly. Bill Belichick also mentioned that it's a possibility that wide receiver Nikhil Harry, who is eligible to return off the injured reserve this week for the game against the Buccaneers, could indeed return to practice as early as Wednesday and get back out on the field for the Patriots. The Nikhil Harry, we saw him training camp. Certainly looked a lot better than Nikhil Harry in the first two seasons with the Patriots. So it is possible that Harry will return on Sunday according to the head coach for the Patriots match up against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick also was asked a series of questions this morning on the radio, then again in his media availability, early Monday morning. About the matchup with Tom Brady, speaking about Tom Brady's free agency on the Greg hill show on WEEI. Here is what patriots head coach Bill Belichick had to say about Tom Brady's departure. A player like Tom Brady returning who spent so much time here. What is that like for you when it comes to preparing for him football wise, but also when he looked back on how much time you two spent together here on this team. All right. Well, yes. That's really too totally different questions. Tom, Tom and I had I feel like a good relationship and a lot of production, obviously while we were together and I enjoyed coach and Tom and he was a great player for us. Sunday Night, we lined up across some Tampa and not just him, but the entire team obviously a very good team. So that's all about our team competing against Tampa's team. That's like it is every week, but there's guys on New Orleans and Chris Hogan and those guys every week that we've been on our team or guys are on arcane that have been on their team and certainly Tom's a special player. I'm not trying to put him in the same categories. A guy was here for a year or something like that at the same time. It's you compete against the team you're playing against and that's what you do. Bill, over the course of you and Tom's time together, you said dozens of times that there was no quarterback you would rather have. When did that change? Never changed. So you wanted Tom to resign here after the 2019 season. Yes. Well, I think we've been through all the dynamics and that there are a lot of things there that he looked at his options and made his decision. We weren't as good an option as Tampa? So I mean, they asking about all that but that's really it wasn't a question not one. Adrian's are continuing their corrections and looking at the tape from Sunday's loss to the New Orleans Saints on Monday on Tuesday. They will officially turn the page to Tom Brady and the reigning Super Bowl champion to have a bay Buccaneers and we will have you completely covered for Brady week. "Obviously everyone talked about the personality and and and that actually was a big thing. It's it sounds like media fluff that you get Charmed by somebody and then you write these puff pieces because you know, he's nice to you and and and and and and I'm not being critical enough. I think people were pretty critical of Cam Newton's play but I I I I actually think the the value he had on his teammates keeping everybody together in a really down years actually understated not overstated because this could have gotten away from them fast with lack of Tom Brady present lack of the veteran leadership. That's normally there all the time and you still had them Of it, but obviously you were missing some as well with the Cova. Doubts. This could have gone South a lot faster. I actually think cam helped hold it together helped kind of lift up some of the younger kids when they were struggling helped keep a positive outlook on things and was a net positive on the season. If you just look at it in terms of what would the worst case scenario have been not saying worst case scenario slash best case scenario seems difficult to you know, everyone has their own interpretation. Some people wanted to see a tankathon sort of season, but this is I think about as good as it was going to get with this team, right? And I also think that we could look at this as a couple of years down the road when Jacoby Myers is it hasn't a thousand-yard season or Devin asiasi starts the boss. I'm like you did today and we could say okay, you know, it didn't work out with Cam. It was a 79 season off that mediocre season that you want to avoid. But at the same time the development of some of the young players not all of the young players young to kill Harry hasn't really developed a way that they would hope you've with Cam but yep. In reality a lot of these younger players like a Jacoby like a Devin asiasi. I think ultimately benefited a whole lot from having cams positive energy and having camps leadership and sort of looking at life or from a big brother instead of a parent-child standpoint. It was really like cam was there big brother and I think that is something that they are going to take moving forward weather cam is here or not. So that that's all well and good, you know and making excuses for his play for most of the Season his inconsistencies as a pastor have just really kind of manifested themselves in a lot of ways in this scheme Nest system that if they're going to want to continue with Cam which it sounds like they don't anyways, but if they were to continue with camp and I think that they would really need to alter the entire passing scheme and the way that they throw the football because wage you're going to you know be predicated on timing and accuracy and precision passing and efficiency in the short part of the field this quarterback is not the answer for you. So if you want that guy, there there are those guys suck. Available whether it's in the free agency or veteran Market or in a direct and the draft and we're going to talk all about them for the next six months or whatever. It's going to be but it's not going to it's not going to be Cam Newton. Yeah, and it's as you said it was good that cam could go out with a relatively positive effort today in when it's likely his his last game even if it cost to pay off a couple of slots here in the in their draft position. N'keal Harry was active correct. He was active in he it's interesting because it feels like the couple of times a game where he does get open..

"He may be the guy that just gets you a second High Pixar where you can address multiple positions of need early one way or another he is the best asset that they have right now and losing him would have been devastating. Yep. For the Patriots, but certainly for him as well because we know his contract situation he held out without holding out earlier in this year the Patriots gave him a little bump to get him into Camp. He can a man he wants to get paid used on the last next year's the last year of his of his deal. Yes, next years the last year of his deal which was top of Market when it was never even situation all over again, right the player wants another big money contract. It's not going to come from here trading him as the main thing that makes the most sense that you hope the injury from that perspective is not serious. I'll be injury is not serious just need to find Gilmore. He's a good guy and I hope he's a good guy and he deserves what he gets even if he doesn't get here, right but on top of that for the team's perspective, it's very important that this injury isn't so big. I think the way the situation the scenario that you just played out that the Patriots sit wherever they're at. Maybe it ends up being twelve thirteen something like that. Take the best available skill player, right? Yep. What I would do at least I'm not saying the Patriots are going to do this. I'll probably take a nose tackle or something like that. But take the best available skilled player there and then trading Gilmore for another top 50 pick so she can get back into the conversation for a Kyle Trask or you can get back into the conversation for you know, maybe one of the drafts, you know best Edge Defenders or something like that. You know, that's a really interesting formula to me because I don't think that they're going to be in range unfortunately to pick some of the better quarterbacks in this year's draft. I really expect Fields Lawrence and Lance to be long gone before the Patriots make their pick unless. Which means you need your Jimmy G. Basically, you know what it is who you identify as the guy if he's there that might be your opportunity, right? So, you can trade Gilmore for the 40th pick in the draft, you know the 10th pick or whatever. That is the 8th pick of the second round or something like that and you you come out of the first night of the draft and Kyle Trask is still sitting down. On the board then you can maybe then get your best available player at 13 on your board and then also still get your quarterback, you know, and that's I think a really good formula to sort of go off of I think trading Gilmore for a veteran receiver might not be a bad idea either, you know flipping him for let's say like a Zach ertz or someone like that. You know that that's a that's a big time pass catchers. Maybe you can take from a string that cornerback and trade it for a weakness at tight end or wide receiver. That's certainly an option. I'm packaging him together with your 13th overall pick or whatever ends up being to try to get into that quarterback range. I don't know if he has that much value, you know, I don't know if the prospects of having him under contract for one more year and then having to give him an extension is not really that much value to a team picking in that range of the draft unless it's maybe like Dallas for example who just thinks that there a Gilmore away with death coming back from being super Competitive Edge..

"Michelle was running all over, you know, Oklahoma and Alabama and all these teams and in college, but then he gets to the pros and he's just heard s dog An athlete so being able to identify which type of athletic talents are going to translate into this next get into the NFL game. I think is a really important conversation that they need to have them terms of Bill Belichick passing over GM duties anything like that not happening get carried away. Okay, you know, obviously it's not going to judge him change his thinking a tad because he has been in the past ahead of the game on offense as well is valuing tight ends to create mismatches all over the field valuing receivers who are versatile like your amendola's in your element in this Welker, he created position, you know, that that didn't exist as a weapon before that was just some guy plugged in there because he was shorting out of position and they turned it into a massive weapon that had Leary building fences around to scheme. You know, there's he's one of the first guys to devalue the running back, you know, when you're just plugging in BenJarvus Green-Ellis in there and saying this will be fine. No one in the first round, you know, it's run but again and that actually makes you think what that that happened after people stopped valuing running backs really high and he's thinking five years ago this players going top five and I'm getting him a twenty something right now. So there is value in that they just they got the wrong guy. If you did that with chub late in the first round vs Sony you'd be like bang bills did it? So again even that I liked that because when the value came down then they pounced at it. He's never really liked chasing, you know, these flashy high-priced things the cost that God takes to draft the the the the edge rusher or to pay them in free agency or the receiver. They just make way too much money to make sense in a salary cap Universe for the Patriots. We tend not to avoid those. It's just kind of strategy in a lot of ways has actually analytics Community applauded him a lot of the time because of how we value certain positions in, New Jersey. Afton realizes. Okay. Listen, yeah, you could go out there and we could trade two first-round picks for Odell Beckham jr. And pay that guy eighteen million bucks a year, but if it's not worth the best allocation of our resources that really netting wins and losses by bringing any of the Browns or when without Odell right now, right? You know, I don't think that history of making those types of Trades always works out for like stuff on Thursday in the Buffalo Bills the way it's worked out in Buffalo. So well with Diggs or Arizona and DeAndre Hopkins, you know, those marriages don't always lead to actual production and actual results. So I think that we do sometimes get caught up in fantasy football. I like episodes just missed the philosophy I think has been sound if you had some who's here who in the world just having this conversation If instead of thought it was Metcalf instead of Sonia was Chubb going after that position there where they did was a smart strategic move to just got the wrong.

"Think that they can take a guy like Kyle pits and and no one's going to really have any problem with that. So it's just That's to me that was going to kill you after blowing two pics on tight of two 3rd rounders a year before to go right back there and grab it and certainly no one's going to complain over getting someone like pets but like that's just you know, how long is that acknowledging to mrs. Right out of the you know, right off the bat there with pants is that heat in my mind is is a potential generational type of guy. So, I don't know if you're necessarily be taking pictures saying oh Ozzy Ozzy and Keener our our bus right because he is just such a good player in such a good Prospect and it's almost like a pic that you have to make with the team that so limited at the receiver position right now, but I think the ultimate thing it's not about not valuing quarterbacks quarterbacks the most important part position on the team. It's about putting that quarterback in a position to succeed and I just don't know right now, but it's off of what they've seen shown us over the last couple of years. There's no position to succeed for a quarterback here. Okay. So I mean you tiptoed around in this the question a log Are going to ask not look relieved of GM duties is is a harsh way to put up with a lot of people talking about, you know is build the right guy to rebuild the team maybe thinking is Antiquated. The league has changed. He's drafting guys that would have been effective for teams or for the game or maybe five six years ago. I bought the the things have moved so fast in a different direction. It looks like the Patriots are so far behind the times just in terms of what type of personnel the best teams have at their disposal and then you look at the Patriots and you say we've got none of those guys like, you know, a certainly on offense and not not on the defensive side of the ball, but certainly on offense that looks to be the case defense bill was way ahead of the curve on the cornerbacks are more important than than than Edge rushers loaded the loaded up with terrific D-backs home. And plugged and played with enough people like your VIN noise when you're Collins to create pressure set the edge and do whatever you needed to do there to have a dynamite defense so that the defensive game plan I think still is found in terms of what it is that they think they need to do to be successful, but offensively, I don't know that they know what it what type of players that they need any more. I think the skill Talent is really where it stands out. The most is that they have failed over the last couple of years when they draft those types of players to understand how the athlete is going to translate off NFL game. Nikhil Harry and Sony Michelle looked like great athletes great athletes in the college game nikhil would take a screen pass and reverse it the field and go all the way out, you know, sixty years to the house on a throw behind the line of scrimmage Sony..

"I don't know. I don't know what they think but all those options I think next to Meijer. Yeah. There's this if you don't do it this year, I mean because again the opportunity cost is so low, it's you have so many free agents. They can't all be paid and you have a ton of options in that draft to so the people who don't want to pay free agents can use them on draft picks. If you're the Patriots you got to do both. Yeah. I think you gotta go free agency a wide receiver off. I'm saying a long time because you need to see a guy that succeeds doing things in the NFL that you already can tell Will translate into your system. I think with these college guys, the passing offenses wage coverages that they see in college are just so much different from what you see in the pros. You see so little press Matt and the pro in the problem here would be established got the here's the biggest dilemma with the Patriots, you know, you could always look to sign and or draft a guy that fit this offense and in in particular Brady, you know, they make the big play for Adam Humphries, you know, because he would have fit Brady in this office is a type of guy that Brady would like to throw to you don't know who you're tailoring that towards right now. So I mean, I think you have to just look at Talent as objectively as possible without any regard for who's going to be throwing the ball and say this guy is just a football player. He can beat you he can win, you know enough things where he can do anything here I'd wage. Think but you know Bill and the Patriots have their type of guys, you know, and this is going to be the big dilemma. Heading in is it does not work anymore and not only has the game changed as your team change the point that the type of guys that bill looks at and says that's a football player. I know it when I see it. Absolutely. That's the guy is that still the case? I I just think the biggest thing to me check with the wide receivers in the draft is I am not confident at all in their ability to one evaluate the wide receiver position in the development and then to develop that guy once he gets home. I hope whatsoever that they're capable of doing that based off of what they've seen what we've seen. I mean, it's not just the DK Metcalf Deebo Samuel Terry McLaurin AJ Brown Conversation Over nuclear. It's honestly looking at that pic and saying how did they think n'keal Harry was the best receiver out of that group McColl Harmony can throw him in there to judge them? Do you as an evaluator? Look at those options on the board and say Hey, you know, we actually like n'keal Harry more than we like AJ Brown. I just don't see how you can come away with that. So if they struggle so much with kind of projecting that position into their office and into their system and into the NFL game then just get a guy that's already proven that he's a great player at this level and let him be who he is, you know, get Courtney Davis and let Corey Davis run Corey Davis type of routes Crossing routes, you know deep verticals things like that. Let get Allen Robinson and turn him into a contested catch guy here because that's what he's really good at. If you could do those types of things with a pro Talent that's already proven himself in this league and already has things that work for him in this league. It's a much easier transition. And then at that point you can go into the draft. I think I am a little bit more comfortable with them taking a tight end..

"What I want to see here as much as you want to see Stidham to see what he's got back also want to see a game plan where he is old before the game. You must throw it in to kill Harry 10 times today being. Okay, and I don't care if he's covered. He's your first read on x amount of place would have to see him fight for balls get into a rhythm get into a flow. We're going to get the ball in his hands. We're going to we're going to try desperately to get the ball in his hands to see what he can do a job. Yeah, I mean, I think that there's opportunities to throw him the football a lot more than what he's been Thrive when I still do it. Yeah, and and and I think that's a big you know the song. And gain it kind of looked to me like he was trying to go to Harry there in the slot and he was crossing over the post safety and I thought that Harry had to step on his guy and had an opportunity to throw it there but can kind of get the one-on-one with Keen instead and I don't know it's just it's a problem of if you're going to throw the ball to nikhil you sort of have to understand that he's not going to be open by 5. You'll right. He he's not going to be open by 2 and 1/2 yards. He's probably going to have somebody near him. He's probably going to have somebody on him and you gotta throw the ball to a spot for him to make a play on the football and there's a lot of wide receivers. Yeah, we get caught up. I think a lot of the time and separation and next gen stats and all that kind of there are a lot of wide receivers that don't create a ton of Separation. But when at the catch Point consistently off All the time and that's something that the Patriots need to sort of come to terms with it and kill Harriet is that he's not going to be a separator, but you have to have the same time be willing to throw the ball up there and do something with it. I just don't know what else you can do besides playing the way that he plays the game and trying to get the offensive trying to get the quarterback to be a little bit more than receptive to the things that he does but the guy that I think we really should be talking about because we talked a lot about Harry but Jacoby Myers is he had a really nice game out there today against are good secondary, you know, maybe an hour Aaron Jones, you know, these these are not scrub corners for Miami Needham's a solid slot guy and Jacoby Myers went out there as basically the only consistent option in this offense and 111 receiving yards and seven catches against a really good secondary. That's why I said, you know, if they're your two through four, I think Myers and that Julian Edelman role is is your future slot guy. I think he's dead. Future element. I think you found that guy and that's fine. Yeah. Yeah, I agree there right and if you found that guy then really all you're looking at is is getting a true stud number one receiver a number one threat, you know, Gronk wasn't the number one guy for so many years. So it doesn't have to be a wide receiver a cough cough Kyle Pitts, please if it's not Kyle Pitts if it's de'vante Smith if it's not Devonta Smith page somebody in the second or third round of its Corey Davis or Allen Robinson or any will Fuller..

"Rams or the Niners or or or some of these other teams where the quarterback position is not the most important part of your offense is not the most important player on your offense. Your offensive strength is really the guys around the quarterback and the quarterbacks just kind of a trigger finger to kind of get the ball where it needs to go. I think that's a lot better. Sort of path and thinking that they're going to get another Tom Brady or they're going to get another All-Pro quarterback in here mvp-caliber guy out of the draft or wherever it ends up being just look at them. And that's in the success rate and doing that is just extremely low and I think if you look at a player like Mahomes, it'd probably be great. No matter what but it did help that he had Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce and he came into the league as a first-year starter and he had maybe having weapons they go out and they get hard when they get Robinson, they're adding they they get right and and that that to me I think is a much bigger conversation the countries hit it once and then leave it, you know, and you're going to take a lot of stabs at this, you know, you really want to see you'd like to see receivers in the top two rounds two to three years in a row, you know, because you know, you're going to have a Harry in there, but you might also get a Metcalf gotta you gotta take a few shots at that to get your impact guy. You're not going to you don't hit dead. One time every time I just feel like when you look at this Patriots pass-catching depth chart, I actually feel like they've found the depth guys. It's the top end of the roster guys that they don't have I think Jacob Myers and damiere Byrd and they kill Harry our three-course fine to through for right there. Right even proved don't say to their fine two through four if you have a legitimate tight end and a number one option at wide receiver. I mean, if you're anywhere should be one of the worst choose in the league. I think they'd be I think they'd be fine though. I really do and I think that they ultimately perhaps more realistic than thinking that they're going to upgrade the one and the two and the tight end position that that's a lot to be had right there. So if you can bring in through free agency, you can do it all in one Fell Swoop. Okay. This is what people you want to do it fast. Let's say you want address weapons this year and it's a dynamite wide receiver class you drafted in the first round the second round you get a free agent and then and then go, okay. And then you then you could put a mediocre quarterback like a stadium or the next guy off of free agent who's a little bit more of a thrower in with with weapons to work with and you're having a different conversation. I remember in favor of that than reaching for a quarterback. Unless you're certain that it's your guy. I want to see that more than anything else on this team right now. I just want to see the Patriots set up a guy whoever it is whether it's Trey Lance or exact Wilson or whoever it ends up being to set that guy up to succeed..

"I haven't seen anything from till after the game but dead again. I think that this would be I I don't believe he would make this decision and announce it to the media after the game. I haven't seen Evan whether he's doubled down he has in the past before we even gotten to the students instead of Newton argument in our post-game shows. He's doubled down and said cams the guy I didn't see that coming out of post-game yet today. Yeah. I mean, what's the point right? What's the point in making Camp a guy the rest of the season even if you think that he might be back next year. I still don't really see the point in and wasting time with it at this point and I don't know. It's just a thought. It was not a good fit. It felt like it could have been a good fit out at one point in the beginning part of the season first two games or you know, kind of in the off-season when you start to talk yourself into some things like this where birth Well now they can be really run game heavy and they can get into the option football type of stuff and maybe they make some changes here schematically and they have you know, they have adapted a lot to to webcam was able to do something this season at times but it just it was way too much of a change, right? It was just too big of a shift in a season where there was a pandemic and there was no offseason and it came in late and training wasn't a thing really it was just way too much to completely change the foundation of the system and it just it's it's a tough one because you you were rooting for cam, you know, you really were but it just hasn't worked out. Yeah everyone here again. I know there's now it's funny just the just the flow of you know, all of the post-game shows when when it looked like everything was going going to going to the crapper season. Everyone wanted the tank then they get the six and six and everyone got a little excited like maybe they can sneak into the play-offs here and that would be good for morale and you know a good boost going forward off. Power back into the why did we win those games because of law because the draft pick this is the reality Patriots if they finish with likely seven wins are going to be dead middle of the pack in the draft. There may be right now. "And then that that we need to be able to do in this what we know what we don't know is given a full week of reps with the starters and down to run the full Playbook what Jarrett Stidham could potentially do. You don't know it could be awful, you know, but you don't know again, it's it's it's really hard to judge people in relief appearances coming in cold late in the game when they've taken virtually no starter reps. I mean, that's that that's not a recipe for success. I think everyone's going to point to oh, wow, basically like a third of his passes go to the other team sure I guess but again, it's just it's not fair to judge their you gotta give them the whole game. Yeah, no way Jose. With that a hundred percent. That's why we got to see it. These next two weeks. Honestly, it's more exciting from everybody's perspective to see what they have listed him over these next two games to actually be able to sink your teeth into something that actually matters for the future of moving forward to see some of these young guys play and be able to see Statham out there. I think would be a big sort of, you know wedded and the season probably honestly bigger than them trying to sneak into the playoffs be the 7 seed and lose, you know, the Kansas City in the first round. I mean what good would that have done for this team either? So ultimately that's what they need to take. These next two weeks to do is to starts to them figure out what they hung up at all listed in my note kind of the feeling in the building or behind closed doors is that he hasn't exactly impressed anybody this this season and he hasn't necessarily been a guy that's been super eager to try to take that starting job from cam because there was a time right when cam came back from covid-19 add a few game bag and following that there was a time where Saddam had an open door, you know, they're dead. Opportunity for Saddam to to take that job that that's what people inside the building or saying is that they had a chance to turn this over to sit on his student had shown them something in practice to really earn both types of opportunities and he just never took the bull by the horns. You know, he never took it in Camp. He didn't take it during the season. I think the Patriots just kind of saw him as a guy that was comfortable being the backup and distorted Thursday through the motions and then it got to the point to where you're in the season and he's doing a lot of scout team stuff and he's not necessarily running with the ones during practice and all that kind of stuff..

"I think the throat Akeem was similar late in the game to where that balls put in a place where Keens got to go up like this a little bit. We're put it in a different spot. He can run under it or he can go straight up and make a play but that's another situation there that it's not ideal ball placement, right and that's that's a big part of any offense, but especially this month . Offense is yards-after-catch. And if you're not putting the ball and good places for the runner to for the ball-carrier to then go and make that catch and then run with it. Then that's really a detriment to your entire offense. So you do you have the Jacobi Myers play. You having to kill Harry play Early in the game the Devin asiasi play. It's a chance that you would like to see Ozzy Ozzy me, but it's also a rifle back here behind, you know a little behind him from about five yards away. He's throwing the fastball instead of The Change-Up, right? And that's a big problem too is kind of throwing with touch to the middle to the underneath part of the field if you just puts that ball in light bulb like a pillow on Ozzy Ozzy and let's Assi Assi run with it. There's all sorts of green, right? There's all sorts of room there. But instead it's a tough catch for Ozzy Ozzy goes right through his hands and and that plane goes dead and and these little plays add up in the course of the game where the receiver doesn't get a chance to get into it. Yeah, opportunity or the ball is just off the outside shoulder and said the inside shoulder and these little things start to add up to age. Play as missed opportunities for the offense and I think that that's the issue with Cam as the quarterback of this team can make some good players that play that he found James White on third-down made a guy came in the pocket was able to kind of create out of structure. He hit on that third and 15 at the mirror bird. I thought that that was one of his better throws in the last couple of weeks. Those are good throws by a quarterback, but the inconsistencies with the ball placement is really a concern. There's also some where he short hops the receiver by 6 yards in your like what was that? You know, you feel like those might be more throw away kind of yeah, you know, he sees the Defenders right on top of the guy and he's just like, you know, let's live to play another down. You know, he missed Myers again for a touchdown behind the fence earlier on in the game or Meijer was it's a tough road and make but that's a throw that you want to see the quarterback make and I think time and time again. I keep on hearing myself say that it's a tough throw but a good quarterback makes it right a good quarterback puts that Bob. And place where Myers at least has a chance to get it in bounce..

"Yeah, and and that I think has been the linebacker level is a problem too. I think really the whole front seven needs an upgrade in a lot of spots and they could use a nose tackle. Certainly that could eat up some blocks in the song. Along with Lawrence guy, but not being able to set the edge of the defense and really failing multiple times and doing that today. That was a big big problem for them against the Rams as well. It's been a problem all year. The Niners game with the Niners ran all over him that was often off the edge or attacking those Edge Defenders. So guys like John Simon, you know, he's a great Patriot. He's at that lunch pail type of guy bring the heart hath to work all that kind of stuff. But at the same time that player maybe works out a little bit better when you have a Dante Hightower and you have a Kyle Van Noy and you have Jamie Collins you have guys on the defensive or I can defeat box. And now when they don't have that Talent around a John Simon is easily exposed and if somebody that's a little bit, you know more in the conversation as like a regular every-down player, which has been a major concern on the edge setting setting the end of the defense against the Run. We all want to talk about why when if it doesn't laying why would if it doesn't play well that big thirty five yarder you can see that's cool. Winovich isn't playing. He got bullied right off. The ball doesn't do enough dream aswell yet. You know, I mean it is what it is. Right? And and that's just a this front seven of the defense was a concern going into a year. It was a concern all season long and then it kind of figured itself out in certain matchups against Baltimore against Arizona. They had some good run defense games, but they'll big picture and large picture is that the run defense in the front seven needs a lot of fine-tuning in the offseason. That's for sure. All right, let's switch over. Let's get into Cam Newton because that's the meat and potatoes it basically dominates every single show and every single conversation that we've had all season long Cam Newton here. We are was another one of those games where and again we talked about this off line before we started off and and you defended him on Twitter. I did fine. I think that that word but I do believe that that is the the right assessment of Cam Newton age. Not just this game, but almost every game and the entire season with you know, some up some down but for the most part the reason they're losing is not Cam Newton, but he's certainly not big enough to help the situation..

"Let's get into a little bit of games specific stuff everything again. Obviously a nice run defense is a thing. I don't think it matters much in the long run. But this was for against a dolphin team that really doesn't Rush the ball that well. This was fairly surprised. Well, I just think it comes back to the fact that really all year long. I've kind of thought that flying under the radar was the Patriots lack of first and down first and second down Edge Defenders game that can really said a sturdy edge of that's the scheme that they're going to continue to run moving forward and they're not going to go to some of these one gabbing penetrating style defense has that we see more and more across the NFL if they're going to stick to the boss two gabbing style. They are going to have to upgrade at Edge this offseason whether it's a guy in free agency that they bring in or someone like that and I think last year was Van Noy and Collins and and suck on and so forth. I think we got a little bit. I don't know. I think Bill thought that he could plug in play certain guys there like a Simon like some of the rookies like a winovich and it just hasn't really worked out that way. So I yeah, yeah, and and that I think has been the linebacker level is a problem too. I think really the whole front seven needs an upgrade in a lot of spots and they could use a nose tackle. Certainly that could eat up some blocks in the song. Along with Lawrence guy, but not being able to set the edge of the defense and really failing multiple times and doing that today. "Right welcoming in making sure everything is going here. But we're here for the Patriots postgame show slash eulogies. This is it what we've kind of known for a couple of weeks now is finally officially come to fruition and conclusion. The Patriots are officially eliminated from playoff contention after a lost to the Miami Dolphins this afternoon down in Miami. That's it. Patriots are six and eight there will be no postseason. It's the first time they fail to make the playoffs since the 2008 season in which Tom Brady blew out his ACL in game one. And that was the Matt Cassel year. They still finished 11:00 and 5 that you're not making them pay offs. This year is the best case scenario Evan Lazar. That'll be the first time. They don't finish above five hundred since two thousand really an unbelievable run of success here down. As much as we're going to spend time criticizing, I'm sure burying certain aspects of this team and what they've done. I know there's going to be some angry people you do want to take one second and just kind of tip your hat off to this team and what they've done and accomplished over this span of time. It really is remarkable. It is officially at an end in. This really does feel like an end, you know, very definitive here wage in this last of Miami. So there's a couple of big storylines in addition to the game itself and some stuff. We want to talk about going forward a big-time injury to Stephon Gilmore. We don't know it could he could have avoided a catastrophe were not sure yet. But let's just get into the game itself Evan just an amalgamation of some bad stuff we've seen from this team all season long kind of coming in altimate Lee resulting in a 22-12 loss to the dolphin. So let's just start with the game itself, and I think obviously the Dead The run defense is going to be a a culprit here. I run defense last two weeks has just been atrocious and I thought last week was a really good plan by Sean McVay and a lot more to do. Maybe it was scheming game plan against the run defense then just actual bodies not being able to plug gaps today. It was just kind of man on man and getting manhandled at the line of scrimmage by Miami but back to your original point about tipping the cap. I'm honestly a little bit relieved that we can stop faking it for the retina last two games of the year that this team was actually going to go anywhere any this year or was actually competitive at any point of making the playoffs or anything like that, but I think that even though Bill Belichick, I'm sure very disappointed that his team is not going to the postseason. It's in a lot of ways..
