"Doctor beach is out with his list of top U.S. public beaches for 2023. Saint George islands in 9 mile stretch of sugar white sand with clear gentle waves off the Florida Panhandle that draws this year's top honor as the nation's best beach. Professor Stephen Leatherman and Florida international university has been raiding America's public beaches for 33 years. He says the Florida islands unspoiled natural beauty, camping, water activities, and stargazing sets it apart. Connected by a bridge across Appalachia bay, famous for its oysters, the island contains a 2000 acre park at a small village with restaurants, rental homes and motels and not a whole lot else. "Now, David bonson, I did this in reverse order. Would you tell people who you are and what you do? I've had you on talk about your books before. People know you if they've listened to the show for a long time, but let's establish a credibility. They were going to talk about what we should do. Well, establishing my credibility is still something I'm working on doing with my own wife and children, but at least for listeners, I'll say I manage close to four and a half $1 billion, run a private wealth firm called the bonson group, 6 offices around the country. I was managing director at Morgan Stanley for ten years. And I write about economics and finance at national review and other places and I just sort of wake up and do this all day every day. And so you've been following money. For as long as I've known my goodness, I've probably known you for a quarter century. I don't know when I first came and did a David bonson group event. You would have someone come in and talk politics to your investors. I'm not going to come talk investments for investors because I don't know that world. But that was kind of fun. And you're still I see you open up an office in Austin. I opened up an affiliate and good morning Austin. Yes, sir. Why do you open an office in a particular place, by the way? Why I know why you are a Newport Beach because that's where you were. But why open 5 other offices? We just ended up with a client base in a certain area that warranted having an office locally. We are real work from office people. We work through most of COVID as well. All 56 of our employees are required to actually go to work 5 days a week, so we're really unique that way. But we think our clients like being in physical presence with their adviser and so we prefer to have offices where a lot of clients are and the kind of ongoing new business that we do benefits from having offices and we can put analysts and planners and research people on the ground. We can hire from all over the country instead of just in California and New York where we've been for a long time.

The Downside of a Long, Expensive GOP Primary With Rich Baris

"This completely objectively rich. I want you to walk through the downside of a long, expensive Republican primary because we have Nikki Haley, asa Hutchinson, potentially Ron DeSantis, who does look like he's going to run. So it's safe to assume there's at least $200 million of FU money out there that donors are going to spend because they personally don't like Donald Trump on the right. I know some of these donors, you know some of these donors I'm not going to say their names, okay? They donate to some good things into some bad things, but they really hate Trump, right? A lot of them are in Palm Beach, a lot of them are in Aspen, a lot of them are in big sky. And a lot of them are in New York, right? $200 million, right? That they're going to do is F you money. And they say, I don't care. It's just out of principle. I'm going to spend the money because I hate Trump. Walk us through analytically and objectively, why that is a bad thing if we want to win The White House in 2024. So there are historical considerations and then there's the new, which is what we have been talking about, which is that things have changed now. People used to say things like, well, having a competitive primary is a good thing and it'll make the, oh, the candidate, you know, that emerges ultimately stronger. That never really has been true, especially when it comes to incumbents. And I actually think that in this situation, you would consider Donald Trump an incumbent almost because the bottom line Charlie, this is why the DNC was keeping everybody off the debate stage. This is why they're moving South Carolina before Iowa and New Hampshire. History, whether it's Herbert walker Bush, whether it's Jimmy Carter, when there's a known candidate, a known president, and they are run through the primary, they run through the ringer, and they are battered by their opponents, making attack lines that are going to be used later. They are weakened by it, and they lose. Everybody in my business knows that. Primaries are not good unless you have a slate of new candidates. That's the only time when they'll emerge.

Is There a Cheesier Movie Than "Karate Kid"? Chris Kohls Weighs In

"I got to ask the question here. How cheesy is this movie, Chris? Well, I will tell you what, there is a lot of cheese in this movie. With cheese grated on top and then toasted with an extra little slice of cheese added onto. There's like triple layers of cheese. Do we showing the opening scenes? I mean, on the beach, I mean, it is just so cheesy. With Elisabeth Shue rolling the ball over there, dude. It is cheese on. It is grand fromage. Yeah, except except I don't think what you really realize about this is that at the time, I don't think it would have been perceived that way. No. I think part of the reason that it's so cheesy today, we look at it, we think it's so ridiculous today, is because this movie set a standard that would be then copied and perfected over the years. Today, you would never see a film, which is just this kind of underdog story. And that's it. You would see this as a sub story. You would see this as a secondary character, something like this. There would be a primary story, and then the secondary story would be this guy getting bullied at the school, and he's got a face as bullies by the end of the film. That would be a secondary story or even a tertiary story. And the reason you don't see that as the primary story much anymore is because this movie did it so well that it was then repeated and copied a thousand times since then. And it's become cliche. It's become cheesy. But I think at the time, I don't think it was considered cheesy. I think it was just a very, very well produced picture.

Man Loses It Over Screaming Baby on Southwest Flight

"Man on an Orlando flight. On Southwest, okay, as if they didn't have enough problems. Is flying to Orlando in this baby undoubtedly screams for 45 minutes. Well, the bigger child, this guy begins to loudly complain using cuss words and very foul language about the person as the plane was stuck in a holding pattern in Palm Beach due to bad weather. I guess they were, you know, maybe just bumpy, whatever it is. But the parent, you know, began to, I mean, he began to scream. I'm not screaming, do you want me to scream? I'll blank flanking scream. We are in a F ten can with a baby in a another very strong password echo chamber and you want to talk to me about being effing okay. I mean, he continues this tirade. And they're telling him, you know, some of the pastors I say in the story, they're trying to get him to calm down and to remind him he's yelling at an infant. And then you ask, he said, did that? Again, very foul language. Pay extra to Yale the man replied. I don't give a F F lower that baby's voice out there. Anybody's mind. Okay? And especially on an airplane. Makes you think it is appropriate to lose your cookies like that. Well, obviously the guy has a very vast vocabulary. And very limited, you know, you know, it's really funny is the well, first of all, hold on. Let me say this. Did you see the wife's face or girlfriend that was sitting there? That poor woman. Yeah, whoever said next to him, yeah, it was like, we've all been embarrassed by our parents before. I felt that for her, but my mom would never do that my dad would never do that. My parents are pretty regular people. This guy just lost his mind. Like, whatever was going on in his day, whatever happened earlier that morning or that night, whatever the flight is. Something you can't first of all, that person is in a mindset beyond like he's already an angry person, whatever that guy's a flight risk from the get go.

"new beach" Discussed on Analog(ue)

"I wasn't expecting and it's big enough to put my 12.9 inch iPad Pro in it. Oh nice. So that's now kind of like fixed in a row machine. And yeah, and I did a ten minute fitness plus workout today. It was a lot more intense than I was expecting. Who was the trainer? I think. And. She's pregnant in this video, which I thought was kind of cool. Yeah, so I have a couple of thoughts. One, they are very engaging. Like, at least this one was engaging like you feel like you're actually in a thing. These for me, it feels somewhat similar to having a trainer. Like, even though this person isn't in front of me, I at least feel like I need to perform for this person, which is also encouraged by the numbers. The numbers that they show on the screens and stuff. And the burn bar, that's like how you perform against the average. So there's enough little gamification stuff going on as well, which I found relatively engaging. I wish that the music was louder. Is that a thing you can adjust? I don't think so. As I felt like the music was really quiet compared to her instruction, and I would prefer a little bit more music mixed in. That would be more energizing for me, especially because it's strange because it feels like 30% of what you choose is the music like you choose exercise type person and music. I feel like I couldn't really hear the music. And that was kind of a surprise to me. Like I could hear it, but not clearly, I would have liked maybe different exercise types. They like balance it differently. I don't know. But yeah, it was pretty full on. I enjoyed it, though. Like it was good. I just was pretty warm in the studio. And that's why I got a headache now. So I've got to think about how I do that in future. Maybe I should turn the radiator off for a bit before I before I go tackle the workout. So the headache came on after the exercise not after a prior conversation about that. It was prior to the show. Okay, I just exacerbated it. It's definitely worse. No, it's not, it's better. Now I will keep this brief because we have a lot to talk about. But I have really enjoyed fitness plus. So I do, I alternate back and forth between fitness plus and I don't know if it's in the UK. I think it is, but there's a beach buddy. Yeah, you've taught me about a thousand times and you start the conversation in the exact same way every time. I love you, man. All right, I'm sorry. That's so great. I'm not consistent. You're predictable, you know? That's why I must consistency. No one I'm going to get with you. Yep, that's right. So anyway, so I do these beachbody workouts. And beachbody in many ways, the company is really gross I'm sure. I've said this to you before. The company is really gross. It's an MLM, but with videos genuinely from what I can tell are really good. And I will do like a program in beachbody, then I'll take a few weeks off and do just random Apple fitness plus workouts and I'll do a different program and so on. And so I actually just started a new beach party beach body program. But I'm coming off of two or three weeks of doing fitness plus workouts, including with Anya. I typically do strength and hit workouts, high intensity interval training, which I would encourage you to try one. They have ten minute ones just to see if you like it. You might not. But I would encourage you to try it. But I really, really like fitness plus. The trainers are encouraging in some of the beachbody ones, but the beach body wants like there's always a subtle bit of, I don't know, even with the women, I feel like there's a little bit of like growing Ness or like meat headedness, like let's just get ripped and let's be strong and wrong and that's just not my vibe. Yeah, but there are people that was vibe that is. Sure. One pipe. What I actually like is that they have a bunch of people. Like if you're going to do the videos, I think that's kind of cool. Yeah. And I like the trainers on fitness plus quite a lot. There's a British British one that does running and hit. I don't know if he does rowing. Jamie ray. And he actually might be my favorite, I think. He's just really, really fun. I like ani a lot. I like Kyle a lot, he does more strength and core. He's a Canadian guy who's really, really good. Greg, I enjoy. I feel like there's a couple I'm forgetting. Oh, there's shoot. I can't remember her name, Kim. From South London, I think she's super British accent. But she's really good. She does hit workouts. Anyways, they're really, really enjoyable. I love the integration with the Apple watch. I love being able to see my rings progress as I'm working out. And they're not high pressure. That's what I like. Like with beachbody and maybe it's maybe I'm making poor choices with beachbody. But they seem to be more like, you know, you gotta get the best and you're gonna do the best. You gotta be ripped in fitness plus, it's just like, hey, let's get better together. And it's a little more happy go lucky, which I think is more my vibe. And so I really, really enjoy that. Well, I'm going to keep going to keep newland around, but I'm going to put it into my rotation of exercises. I really think you should. Even if even if you only stick with rowing, I would really encourage it and give it a couple of months. That's kind of all I intend to do with it to be honest. And I know you're not going to listen, but core, you can get like a 5 minute core workout, you can do a ten minute hit workout, and I think you just do ten minute strength workouts. And it sounds like you got strength covered with your trainer. But you might want to at least try one of the core ones or one of the hit ones just to see. Yeah, we'll see. "Like in the metaverse or in real life. No, in real life. What does that do? Outdoors. So it's safe. Social distancing wise. And it's, you know, extroversion is built in. Find out when the part of the person a shy person shy person should go to is the person going to be clothed at the nude beach or should they also be? They should be participating. The person asking this question should be participating in the nude beach. Yes. Okay. What if they're in a cold weather climate? Well, the pandemic will probably still be going on in a few months. Gloves and a hat would allow you to participate. Some socks. Hashtag Yolo. That's almost. Me. That's been my theme for the last for the last couple of months, you know? Should I spend 40 hours a week on puzzling places on the quest too? Yolo. Yeah. The only thing you only live through a pandemic once, that's what I have to say. One hopes. Okay. You're lucky. I thought it lasts the rest of your life. So okay. For those of you who are still with us, we're so grateful for you. I'm pretty sure we just lost some of my shares, but we love those of you who have remained. We're reaching the end of our time together. We only have a few minutes left before we go. We did want to do just one thing. For those of you who listen to our podcast regularly, the gadget lab podcast, we always give a little recommendation at the end of every show. This week we're not doing our standard recommendations. Here's this thing I love. Go buy it. We are, once again, keeping the CES themed. And we're going to do a lightning round. We're each of us say the one thing that we found the most interesting or important at CES this year could be a product could be a trend could be your favorite new beach, just kidding, Adrian, let's start with you. What's the one thing lightning round that stood out to you most this year? Bikes. Bikes are gonna continue to be important. There was a lot. I mean, and especially timely now with the passage of the infrastructure jobs act, the build back better Bill. Yeah, they're not toys. They're for real. They go fast. You can get hurt, get a good one. There you go. And you mean e-bikes or just bikes? E-bikes. Well, thank you. Those are fine. Those are. Julian, what's your team this year? What's your big theme? It's weird. It's a haptics. There was a lot of talk on haptics, which basically the vibrations that come out of your phone or advanced have vibrations. A ton of laptop manufacturers are using haptic track pads now very much like the force touch on macbooks. And also, I spoke to a company called Boris technologies that's introducing this thing called nexus touch, which is their version of so instead of making buttonless phones as we might have heard from a couple of CES as ago, a lot of these are basically embedded into the sides of phones. And it lets you customize what types of buttons you add, like if you want a camera shutter, you can add a camera shutter. But the cooler thing for me is they're sort of being a bit more pragmatic. And they understand that not everyone wants a buttonless phone. I don't want to bottle this phone. I like my buttons. But they're sort of adding to what's already there. So they showed a retrofitted Google pixel four with they basically put their technology into the volume rocker and they were able to slide a finger down on the volume rocker to scroll web pages or flip through the camera back to the rear camera into the front camera, or zoom in and out of the camera use all sorts of things that basically you can do. And I think that's just one of those things where they are all proponent was that they can have localized vibrations straight to your finger. So you really get that tactile sensation that mimics whatever the manufacturer is kind of going for. So I think for me, what's cool about it is just, I think we're just going to see this wave of haptic feedback being more of a thing on all of our everyday gadgets. And I think that's very important because we touch our devices a lot and that is just very nice to have actual nice feelings and sensations when we actually use those things rather than cold static, hard metal. Feelings of sensations. That's what you come to the gadget lab for. Thank you for that, Julian. That's awesome. I'm looking forward to more feelings than 6 sensations in 2022. I can't even say that word. Mike, snack fight. What's the thing that stood out to you most this week? The thing that I really like is what I've seen, I've seen this trend of creative uses of AI for cameras. Like we've seen a lot of fun AI powered computer vision powered features in cameras over the last couple of years, but at CES we saw company U fee, which I believe is a sub brand of anchor if I'm getting that right, yes. They made a security camera that recognizes package deliveries. So it has computer vision in the camera and it actually has a camera that faces down onto your doorstep. It's a doorbell camera. So just like a doorbell you walk up and you press the button and then it shows the shows your face on the person's device or on their smart home. The display or whatever. This has an additional camera that recognizes package deliveries. And you know, who doesn't like that? Who doesn't like being able to just not have to go downstairs and look and see if the package has been delivered, but just look on your phone and oh there's package there. What else? There was a the John Deere self-driving tractor that has 20 cameras on the outside of it and it uses them for collision avoidance..

"Second Listen let me get right to your book because I loved it I was I got a copy got it early It talks about your time at Fox News from the beginning And listen I find this really hilarious I was looking through the book review It says that you divine quote great truths about the nature of our country while stumbling across beaches asking oblivious college students basic political questions Please if you could expound a bit on that Well one of the great truth I divine just by calling in within one second was because I have to cheat my wife when we have dinner reservations I have to say we have reservations at 7 when they're really at 7 30 But then they get kicked to that But then I've tried that with my wife but that may get hit to that stunt Then you have to back it down another ride No no really 6 30 I know that trick So tell it though tell us about the book It's a great book I found it hilarious Everything from the mom to eats to your time with man on the street interviews Really it's an interesting story of not just you but the whole media environment I know that the title of the book how I save the world is you know meant to be funny but it's a really interesting book So yeah so I used to be dispatched to all of these liberal precincts all across the country New beaches San Francisco Washington D.C. spring break And I would interview liberals in their natural habitat And what I found was that they are very insecure people whose lives lack meaning And in order to make up for that lack of meaning they project all of their insecurities onto the rest of us And they do that through control They do that through controlled and they do that through division And that's just in order to assuage their guilt and so they have someone to blame Because deep down Dan you know they believe this country was founded on inequality and racism And they need to be able to make up for that So they need to just demolish the country And they need to be in charge of remaking the country in a way that they see as just and fair Is it just and fair No of course not It's the same thing that's happening in Cuba You give up a little bit of your freedom in exchange for a life of comfort but it never works out all they do is control you and they dominate you And they try to just get into all of your life's little secrets and just nag the hell out of you until you say okay enough already And that's what they're doing right now They're just nagging us to death And enough is enough Sometimes you just have to act like a parent you're a parent You just say no Knock it off We're not doing this anymore And that's what this country lacks a little bit of a

"Used to going to say on vacation to a restaurant every night or go out to lunch every day. Whatever happens to be. Then that's not a feasible route right now. Because of the constrained resources so away to get creative is to explore and what we have done here is explored beach parks that we've never had a chance to get to before So go to the grocery store and get groceries stock up Have food here. Don't depend on restaurants as much and then pack a picnic insulated bags and all that stuff. Pack a picnic explore new beach park. Hang out at the beach park. Have a picnic there. reader books go swimming The boys went surfing Couple of days and just try something new now. The cool thing about this about getting creative is that you add new things to your experiences and you have those things moving forward so when things do get back to normal if they do get back to normal then not only. Do we have all the stuff that we knew before now. We have this whole new set of experiences to draw from and we can really tailor our days in a much more exciting way with a lot more variety so i have found that this is a blessing in disguise. This forcing us to get creative and kind of think about alternative things to do has led to discovery new things. And it's been a lot of fun and I've been really enjoying it to tell you the truth really join in. It's been a simpler life. It's been a simpler life here And there's nothing wrong with that. There really isn't the five tips again plan further out than ever and i mean further out. Learn the rules of the road for each state or country that you're going to bring lots of masks because you will need them in a variety of mass. Get any patient frame of mind in get creative get creative on how you spend your spare time and i think you'll probably discover new things and hopefully you have the same experience that i have which has been a good one you go. Wow i wish we would have done this years ago. Well we're doing it now and we have forever. There's been some exciting news since.

"What do you wanna do next. Oh my goodness well i am. I am really excited to be on social media. Because i've been able to reach people and be able to really get my message out and i'm starting to Get a little more global recognition which is great. i've been working with dina price who is The my she's my mentor for british nature. Ism and we both have the same ideas and what we would like to do with women. Because i mostly what would like to get women in. I'm glad to talk to anybody about getting into news or nature's but i really would like to emphasise some women because there's such. We really need women in here And so i'm i'm writing more And so this is really excited. Because now i'm getting my message out more to a global And the one that great thing is. It doesn't matter that i'm here in the us. I can get on zoom or be on social media. And i can talk to people all over the world so it doesn't mean that i have to physically be there which is wonderful. Also my message gets out. And that's what i really wanted to do. a the international aspect is interesting. Isn't it i when i launched his podcast. I was just thinking i was. It was kind of a fun idea in my own radio show and now people listen all over the world and we we actually. It was a couple that was from new zealand which is about as far physically as you can get from where i am in toronto or near toronto Without leaving the planet and they were in new york city For i think it was a business trip or a conference. But they wanted to visit barrack so the they got on a bus. It's like a twelve hour bus. Ride just could come for a weekend to experience barracks i mean. That's that's very flattering. But it was because they've been listening to the podcast. So yeah you could definitely have a big influence Not just locally but internationally with social media so. I very much encouraged to do that. You can see obviously the the wonderful reach that your show has because people wanted to get on that bus and come see you and where would they normally you know about this and the one great thing about when i was traveling is i mentioned. I was going to be in australia. And i had all these people from australia saying. Hey can you visit my club. We'd love to have you I found out about maslin beach. Which is a fabulous new beach places. That i didn't really know about that worked on my radar and so they were so excited to be able to share. You know what they had. It was something that was coming over. So the the fact is a global reach is so exciting to me absolutely yeah. It's a lot of fun. And i'm glad you're doing it. We we definitely wanna keep working on attractive woman. I can tell you. It is very doable. Because we have no problems. Attracting women here at barracks but there needs to be in a lot of clubs and places. I visited an attitude change and a better understanding of what it's like to be a woman in have spent all your life Being objectified and and so it. There's a lot of clubs that are say their nature are nudist. That don't seem to understand that you must have seen that too. you know. It is interesting because the first thing. It's just not like saying. Have woman i'd like to go to a club first of all. You have to go through all the societal things that you know. Make it sound like. That's what i wrote in my article or h h any nature magazine for july Two thousand twenty one issue is before women can even decide that. hey. I like to go to that club. They have to make peace with their body and decide. Okay i'm gonna go in there. And i don't care that you know my hair to look good or on you know i've got a little extra weight on my hands and all the stuff like that and people might look at me but for the most part people aren't looking they're just looking up to see who is coming in but i admit it can be very daunting for a woman to go into a club and have all the men you know just looking at her because it is kind of an anomaly. Would you do get a single woman in there. So how do you convince them. No i i tell them my story. I tell them that i i had the same things that you did when i first walked onto that beach When i was a speech there was already kind of a little core group. They were all men and it. I could turn and run. Because i admit i was just a little bit nervous. Because they're all men and there was no women. But i turned it around and i said hey i get all these men to myself. This is great. They all burst out laughing and they said we are so glad you feel that way because when we saw you walking up we were actually betting on how quick before you turned around and took off so it you know i i try to tell my story that i done it you know. It can't be done an introvert. I it it is kinda scary. And sometimes i still get a little nervous and in crowds but once you feel confident about your body and you make peace with it. You're going in with a completely different mindset if you go in with failure you're going to fail but if you go in and say you know i am the queen of this pool and i'm going to own it. You're going to feel like you are and it's going to come across crate and hopefully with the example that you and other set and the hashtag that shows that you're just your typical mattress and hopefully with the symbol which they might recognize meaning acceptance and hopefully it continues to mean acceptance and doesn't get used that does things will help. Don't you think absolutely anything that can unify or show. That were just like everybody else we just like to do. You know things without our clothes off non-sexual wholesome things but i think that's we need to unify ourselves in show people how wonderful it is because that's the biggest barriers. If you can get past that conversation then you basically can. Maybe you know convince somebody. So here's your chance to talk to people who are listening right now who this. They don't like to symbol or they don't want to use it. What do you want to say to them. I love the symbol. And i know that there are people that don't particularly like that that are our detractors It would be interesting to see. Why why you don't like it because you think it's too simple Do you think that there is a message that you can't ascribe to What does it do to you that makes you not want to use it. Do you feel that it would unfairly identify you or puts you into a category that you want. It's really getting down to what the reasoning is. And if you just don't like it that's fine you're not gonna we're not gonna get one hundred percent Participation but it would be nice if people just give it a chance..

"What point did you understand the importance of investing. And how once you you were putting your money to work is yeah probably about ten years ago and i wish i would have learned it thirty years ago because i would be a billionaire by now still still have time but i would be right now if i understood then what i understand now i will tell all of your listeners. I'm sure you guys have read it. If you haven't strongly suggest at one of the the people who have developed a really nice friendship with is a woman named sharon lechter. Sharon co-authored Rich dad poor dad with robert kiyosaki. And if people haven't read that book please consider reading that if you have teenage children. Please consider giving that book. Rich dad poor dot to them. Because it'll give a really good foundational explanation of the importance of money and investing and here's the bottom line every dollar that you make as like a little worker and you can put that worker to work for you and people look. I know really smart people in kind of do this just to gauge where people are when. I'm starting to work with them. That don't know the difference between an asset and a liability like my house is my greatest asset militia houses. Making you money it's a liability. It's not an asset people. Don't understand that so you have to really understand. The importance of what assets are what liabilities are. What money is and how you're going to put that money to work for you for investment purposes. Most people don't understand the importance of critical importance of compounding money compound interest like if somebody's in their twenties they don't have put a lot of money away. The twenty five year old can put away three hundred dollars a month and do that for ten years and never have to work again by the end of ten years after putting away three hundred dollars a month they'll have invested somewhere around twenty eight thousand dollars but that twenty eight thousand dollars by the time they're thirty five will compound to over a million dollars by the time invested the right way at eight percent by million dollars by the time they're sixty five people don't realize the incredibly important the incredibly important aspect of compounding early on investing early on. I made all the mistakes jim. I went out and bought cars at both houses. I both. I had a party undoing. Some things now with jordan belfort's wolf of wall street. And i look at him and we were talking. I was just with man. I did not to your level but i said so many of the things you did and i you know. I don't want to say made the mistake. But i did. I paid a lot of the dummy tax. I tell young guys and girls now not to do. You can go out and you combine that. Bmw because as one of the biggest mistakes we make when it comes to quote unquote investing is that we don't we try to improve our status to impress people. We don't know where we don't like and we really shouldn't care about by saying. Hey look at. Mike's new car. Hey look at. Mike's new beach house. Look at his boats blah blah blah. that's a liability. They're all liabilities unless the value goes up they're making me money either not assets and ultimately twenty years from now. They're all gone and the people that i was trying to impress. They didn't care. They long forgotten versus if i had invested that money the right way it'd be a lot better position yet to go back to rich that for data how ready to take a serious look at what the books that big you meet the day or two of the quadrants remember. I'm telling you right now quadrant. Just remember that and literally. It'll stay stuck in your brain for the rest of your life a quite literally. Have you thinking like the richton. Exactly right yeah. I mean it's so simple. Concept is so simple as in easy to execute. No not always not every day but the concept so simple that it's literally ingrained in burned into my brain. These guys are laughing because we i picked it up. I don't know two thousand six thousand seven issue time and and It's quite profound that something like that. Still has an impact. I i read in in a long time but anyway yes rich. Dad poor dad robert kiyosaki take a look at that might boola. Do you budget yourself do i. Yes and that that was that touches on something that we're going to say with regard to investing budgeting critically important. Were talking about money but you can apply all of the same rationale philosophies time. Right money's important really valuable times more valuable so yes. I'd budget my money. I budget my time. I love it. I love it. You know there's a guy out there by name of dave ramsey Anyway he's like a financial teacher. Sure ninety five percents But anyway says if you can understand and manage your money and budget correctly there it you don't you don't realize how many other aspects of life that organization enters And then you can then organize and manage relationships. Organize and manage your spirituality. And it's just mastering one thing that lead into The benefits of everything else offer How did you get started investing Literally i took a step back and recognize that. I should be further along than i am when i looked at myself. And you know what happened. I'll tell you what happened. I saw when i started my law. Firm they you know. A lot of the older attorneys in town laughed at us. Guys don't realize how hard it is. You'll never succeed. Come work for us and like i would just going to give it a shot and we ended up doing really well and the ten ten years later. They started coming to us saying. Hey do you wanna buy my firm on retiring. And they really needed the money. When you went through the finances you realize they hadn't done for them themselves personally What they should have done and they really needed to sell their businesses at the businesses. Quite frankly didn't have any value because there was no asset. And that's something else we could talk about. That's one of sharon's newest books exit rich. That's one i would recommend highly. That's you know people build businesses. Don't think about the exit strategy. They wait until it's too late. So can you sit and you see the title again. Exit or eg exit e. x. it exit writ rich. Yeah like exit exit rich start thinking about it early and so i started. Because that's you know. Like i said about that time started looking at it and say wait a minute like why am i not why the people that are ridiculously that are wealthy not rich. It's the chris rock show but wealthy What are they doing. And what i realized what they were doing. There's three ways you can..

"The hatching success rate would probably be zero at one point so there would be no next generation. That's i mean. I have the suspicion. It's really hard to prove that the you know the f. Hives is probably artificially keeping that beach alive. You know because it is raising the hatching success to at least a novel. They're still babies but it's very low so that actually might be detrimental to the population later on. Because maybe they would have already looked for another beach right at this point. What makes me think that is is that we have two new beaches. Now that we're an antibody. Before that now in the past i would say six or seven years have started to have synchronized mass nesting and they are getting more and more in the beginning. It was one her year and then it was like three. And i think the last one was almost eight synchronized mass nesting one of which is and it's getting bigger and bigger as well so i think that there is a natural life cycle. Nadi which would makes sense right. If you if you overuse something then at one point that is nothing more left when you overuse the soil for plans els and so you have to look for something else so yeah. It will be really interesting to kind of study that in how new synchronized mass nesting beaches are developing. How long they really stay like that. And until the turtles move on somewhere else and also what triggers it rights because if it would be really some kind of mechanism that is just going over the next generation ever will be. I mean olive ridley's reach sexual maturity with about fifteen to twenty five years. So that's law feedback cycle. You know if you think about it. So maybe it's something else. So can you explain how temperature plays a role in the development of sea turtle eggs and then and then how does climate change impact this process. Yeah so temperature. In the live of sea turtles super beta talked about it. You know they needed to warm. Buddy bats the cool thing is that adds the sex of seattle's is determined by the incubation temperature. So that means they do not have sex chromosomes as we. Humans have example. So you know usually it's and you become female biologically or it's x y and you a male biologically and in seattle's is actually the second third of the incubation time that's where higher temperatures are leading to females gradually. Of course it's not like a switch and it's all female all males and cooler temperatures a leading to more mail so in english. At least they have this hot shakes cool dudes in if you want to remember how that is interesting though. It is not the same in all turtles since he turned his. It's exactly that. But there's other turtle species freshwater turtles and tortoises that actually have to peaks Kind of middle temperature a produces more males and like really cool and really hot. Temperatures need females. There's all kinds of variation within that group of turtles but the sea turtles it is. That's and that of course means nowadays where we are having rising temperatures because of climate change a lot of places. We are over producing females. So there's beaches where we have pretty much..

"Whatnot. I i completely forgot. Though that they capsized and lose their flint whole part yup remembered gasping originally. And i still gas this time watching and be like oh my god you guys just won that challenge or this damn lint. You're going to this new beach now and you don't even make fire. I remember being shot like he'd be to find it actually. I don't remember them not having flint. And so i guess i learned later that they do go back and find it but yeah in. I actually think it's under reported. Maybe because he doesn't win a lot of individual immunities. Because tom is there. I think in should be thought of in the same category as an ozzy in terms of like being equipped for swimming and just being equipped for camp life. I mean tom gets all the glory because he he kills the shark and he wins. The of unions by aeon is one of the best lakes survival. Is i think we've seen on the show up until this point. I was really really impressed with ian kind of around camping and all that Come yeah the giant clam and he's not even from california or with water. Yeah by the way we're going to have a very special talking with t-bird presentation for you this weekend. That i've been calling in the palau trilogy. Where last year. We started off the long survivor off. We didn't interview with tom. Westman we did an interview with ian rosenberger. We'd interview with katie gallagher. I call it the trilogy. T-bird be if she was here reminding. Oh we talked to staff also so we'll have a little bit from stephanie. But we've gone back and done is collected the best moments from those palau interviews. We're going to have a special presentation of the palau talking with t. Bird box set coming this weekend. So be on the lookout for that. And don't drop your box set in the ocean because he's not gonna go back and get it but we had some really great conversations with three of the biggest characters from this season and some really great talking with bird moments that i want people to hear you missed it. So it's been released like a poorly photoshop. like birds face then. All of the contestants on the dvd. Cover between me and t-bird tom. Katie ian and stephanie. I think we can get spock set. Yeah we'll be right back talking more about survivor. Palau with lita and chantelle but i want to take a moment to thank our sponsors for this episode of the podcast. Our friends over at hyundai. Were they questioned. Everything to create the best tucson ever like does survivor. palau have emerged. Technically do you call it emerge. I'm not sure these are the kinds of things that they are thinking about over at hyundai where they're questioning every single thing. Because every inch of the all new tucson has been completely redesigned resulting in an suv that is a loaded with available innovations both inside and out from design to technology to safety every aspect of the new tucson has been improved upon. The suv has been completely redesigned. Inside out to create the best tucson ever with all sorts of innovations starting with tech like digital key. That lets you use your phone as a spare key. Which is very impressive because There's so many times where you lose your car keys. You lose your phone too. But what are the chances that you lose your phone and your car keys almost impossible so great job by hyundai then. They've got user profiles like ten and a quarter inch full touch infotainment screen which is very impressive. Because if it was only partial touch would not be as great the quarter inch screen. Nothing to laugh at either an led daytime running lights there stylishly hidden.

And I have to say when you were talking about Cookie Jar, which was cookie jar. I remember this guy because he was like the sub for Sonny Charles and the check mates that Nero's it at us in Las Vegas, and he was like, run outta town. Darn near and about 20. Years later, he came back and was almost allowing Starr. So not a bad, not a bad background, but he was a Philly guy. Yeah, cookie myself silly And he so I'm 17 with our band, which is graduate. High school. They and they liked our group and often and we were booked in the barn and those days Challenger Avenue what you would have the fifth dimension. Performing there, and other well known acts and cookie was he was the the we would be group. He was the age group and he was something he was sort of, like out of the mold of Wayne Cochran, Otis Redding kind of thing, and it's so when I when I met him, and Chris went with other things, but she always had a great voice, and it was a great entertainer and still is on There's a lot there's old this mingling The cookie jar at the time was a big group, and so were the sole survivors. They were They end up living in our area, and also at the time was kicked the kid cats for another big group. So I was one of the younger guys and I'll go around. I remember seeing I tell everybody this story. We're at the rainbow cause there's there's 100 hundreds of clubs in those days so at the Rainbow Club, and I see Wayne Cochran on and and I realized These days because I saw a picture recently of him this blue eyed soul kind of thing, and his bass player was Jacko Pistorius Young age. And who went on to play bass for weather report, Murder, land and all that stuff, Amazing bass player respected and chest and so in those days, it was so exciting to be around all these musicians. And then I like to reflect on that and a lot of my songs. I don't always write, as you could tell when you open up with while with the hockey talk I That's why I call myself a singer songwriter from the old school. Meaning that if I want to write a kid's song for my grandkids, I could do that. You know if I want to spend a lot of time lately, writing Christmas albums, so have to out there now and they get a lot of your play. Really grateful for that. But I'm working on a new beach album right now. Oh, good, and I have I noticed that people really like you mentioned them. Who do you love? I like to throw in some silly armed. Be there. I do all my previous album. I did Intruders United. On and on this one. I have Ah, obscure Philly do wop song and I want to resurrect And I also have a wonderful Rendition of Of Great Smokey Robinson song. I'll try something new. Okay? And You know, just talking about. I don't sing like his full cells into my voice. But there's just great. They're like, sort of like the like. I said before the American, the classic American songbook. Well, this This is like a new Want adventure into that. Bring back these songs these wonderful songs and and elevate them, So I'll be doing that. And plus I have some some new songs that the title of my album is his old 17. So basically, that song is about Um You just take this ride down the shore from Philadelphia about 90 minutes. And and you basically whoever all the shoe bees who do that, and she visas could work for the visitors Get it ashore When you do that, you said, basically transform yourself into You're you. And you go down a short You see people over 70 and there on the boardwalk right in there like that would never think of riding their bike. In their hometowns where they are, But when they're down, sure this like this youthful thing happens. And like the transmit that my music fight to up if I do it successfully, ou do you absolutely do so I gotta ask. You said you're going to resurrect an obscure Philly do up song. What is it? Oh, yeah. I don't know if you want to tell me. Oh, you don't want to tell me you don't have to tell me what? Let me ask. This wins wins the CD coming out. Well, it should be out this thing season because I have a lot of things. Love things already and then sort of like 90% date. But I Okay, I wrote some write some songs about. I got some originals here and I have There's one eye to them that I am showing already, and one of them was written by Nixon, Ellie, who wrote my one Summer night and that's That's getting a lot of like. Getting a lot of reaction. Good reaction and that's called falling in love with you s Oh, yes. Oh, there's nothing What I did was I noticed that I used to pile on a lot of songs. It's been 20 years. Since then. We haven't been too strong. In the last few years. We've been strong. We're just playing by the rules. You can't have a newcomer. Come in. And steal the show. I got a question wise, irate talking about somebody stealing the show. All right, so nothing we do around here is by accident. When the bills in the Browns each go, and they win a playoff game in the same season for the first time in NFL history, you're damn straight. I'm gonna go from a buffalo legend to a C. Town legend episode. 1 57 of the General Podcast was with Steve Tasker last week. Tasker was awesome. Episode. 1 58 is what Joe Thomas this week. Joe Thomas 10 time Pro Bowler, a time all pro A Brown's Ring of honor member Record holder for longest streak of consecutive snaps played. Even though he's a future Hall of Famer. You play on some pretty bad Brown's teams, right? Had they had a hell of a lot of trouble with the Steelers while he was there, So naturally, my God was hyped to see his old squad finally get over on the black and yellow personally enjoyed it because I feel that the House of horrors for me it's been like that for the Browns for a long time. I think it's been 17 years since Ah, Brown's team is in the Hinds field and Won a game there, so to be able to really get over that hump was enormous, was so much fun to be able to watch that team that's really coming into their own dock stretch and to be able to kind of get your first playoff And since, like you mentioned that was 10 years old against your biggest rival down the street and get over all these Monsters that have been spooking you for so many decades. It was really special. That was really fun to watch. You get held a kick out of a guy a great great player like that. Getting such a kick out of watching his former team doing what they're doing right now. I mean, not hating on them at all. He loves it loves it. You heard him Say it. Heinz Field was a house of horrors for him, And it was they never want to single game there in Joe Thomas his entire career, so he loved what he saw, Probably more than anybody who wasn't actually playing in that game Sunday night. I also asked what he thought about Juju running his mouth before the game. And Joe told me that probably it was less about motivating the Browns and Maura about putting more pressure on the Steelers themselves. When you go out and you disrespect your opponent the way Jews you did and basically say there's still the team that thinks that we've been kicking their butts for the last two decades, you can go out and back it up. But now that puts additional pressure on the rest of the guys on your team, and they were a little bit tighter going into that game because they were feeling that additional pressure that Jude you put on them that they were definitely feeling because it's something that the head coach is going to address throughout the week when he hears those comments, and it becomes a theme and it becomes a distraction for the Steelers, and I think it really showed up, especially early on in that game. You saw those guys a lot of those guys making uncharacteristic mistakes with all those turnovers with the first snap of the game going over Big Ben's head, so to me, it really showed up big time, especially in the beginning that game. That's interesting, so it didn't work. Damage to Pittsburgh. Gonna help Cleveland and then join. I spent quite a bit of time on the current Brown's team. But I did want to ask him about a story that I heard from back when he was playing a story about how Peyton Manning Was with the Broncos, and he was trying to engineer a trade for Joe Thomas to get him to join him in Denver. Here was Peyton's plan for making that happen. So his plan was for me to go into the general manager's office and drop my trout on leave a little thing out of deaths, or, you mean take a crap on his desk. That little thing crap because He called me up and the Broncos. They were trying to trade for me. The Browns were not really interested, and basically what it came to is the Brown from the Broncos told Peyton Hey, I know you need a left tackle. But the only way he's coming to Cleveland as if there's Needs to be some big issue and in Cleveland because there are going to trade their left tackle, So that's when he calls me up and says, You know, you need to force your way out. And here's the best way to do it. Just a game plan. So thankfully, for my dignity and for Ray Farmers desk, I didn't protect us. Thankfully for my dignity and Ray farmers desk Freaking pinky. Wanting Joe Thomas to treat the G m's desk like a Rex in the A. B Q. Treats appear one decorative vase that's wild and disgusting. Luckily, I never came to that. Obviously, when a guy goes from 3 10 to 2 Fitty, I'm gonna want talk to him about that and how he dropped out Wait and what it feels like to be over a half A bil lighter Joe Thomas is just is into that conversation is I am here's Joe on all the physical and cognitive benefits that he noticed when he cut sugar out of his diet. Didn't have any idea of how much those sugars were affecting my gut, my brain and my information in my whole body like I lost probably £10 and bloated information. Just like cutting out all the sugars I was eating because I was the guy that was always trying to keep weight on. So for me, I was eating like a pint of ice cream and a sleeve of timid Girl Scout cookies before bed every single night to keep my weight up, and I had no concept of how much information that was putting into my body just from eating all that craft. I would encourage anybody like if you have a lot of infant Nation. A lot of joint pain. Remove those sugars from your diet, because when your blood sugar goes up and down and it spikes and then your insulin spikes like that leaves a lot of fogginess in your brain and so cutting that out because you could just.

"She's got a podcast. She's got a great website and she also did a fasting reset summit as well and she's helped so many people who've struggled but sustainable weight loss really get results so shantelle. Thanks so much for joining us. Here on the fasting. Transformation summit thank you so much. Thanks for having me. Yeah well absolutely. I know you reached out to me. And you've obviously got a long history of fasting earth a history here recently. We've gotten great results. So let's talk about that. How you got into natural and how fasting became a courtier lifestyle share. So i personally done so many. A pass I've probably done just in the last year. I've probably done Hundred twenty four hour fast. I've done Probably twenty two day fast. I've done attend Probably ten three day bass I've done one eight-day fast. And then i did a twenty one day fast where i did. Seven days of water than seven days a bone broth and green juice and then seven just a fruits and vegetables and smoothies so That's of my extent of it but i i also do intermittent fasting on a regular basis. I eat in a six hour window so everyday. I pretty much eat either. Twelve to six one seven something in that ranch and then every once in a while i might just do you know one meal a day. So i've done all of ed. You got a lot of experience with fasting. That's for sure. So you've done that much fasting in a year so tell us about your experience. What was your experience as you did. For example like twenty one day fast I'm assuming he did that. Eight day. facile is more like a water fast. So tell us so. I believe that there's just so much power in fasting and there's two. There's probably three main reasons that i do. Fasting one is joe. He'll my body to would be for weight loss Three would be just to hear from god and then just for crying out to god in a way that saying like hey god. I'm really serious about this. I need to pray about this. And so it's kind of justa kind of a cry out like kind of like a dog. Kinda goes belly. Up is of the way that i look at it and i. I compare the power of fasting to scuba diving. So i live in virginia beach. And if you look at our water it's not like i just got back from hawaii and it's not like hawaii like hawaii water. You can literally see the ground but here emerging new beach. It's everything's brown. And so i've never been scuba diving but i've been snoopy diving and stupid diving is a combination of like sparkling and scuba diving. But when i say is like fasting is like literally like scuba dive where you have this equipment. You go underwater and all of a sudden you find hidden treasures that you've never been able to see before like you. You can see the color of the fish and you can see you know the core all and everything like that. and so. that's what what fasting does for me. It's like your body is hungry when you fast by your spirit is sharp and everything comes to focus. Yeah absolutely..
