It sticks to the core infrastructure features that we talked to initially It's a serious effort to try to reach a bipartisan agreement, Senator Shelley Moore Capito said The biggest question right now seems to be over the gap and propose spending, but she intends to keep negotiating the alternative. "That's what Marty Condo's. That's what he will do 888519. 9096 for Marty Nevil and yell Marty and his budget is not his favorite word. I think Marty you prefer spending plan is that writing bland? Exactly. Budget has a interesting connotation time shy away from challenges. Restrictive. Doesn't that night plan a budget? You gotta sit down and you gotta figure all these numbers out and shots and everything. You write it all down in the spending plan, and I put the spending plans together every day for people and that's what you believe. Down in this segment here some things that could you could be doing to sabotage sabotage her retirement and and you're spending in retirement? Yes, not having that spending plan that plan on how you're going to spend it. It's number one on this list You've got absolutely you know it, Z No, It's not the big things and big things you could see coming a mile away. You know, you know that there's going to be cost associated with health care and health insurance. You know, there's a mortgage. Do you know those bills were coming? It's the little things that usually get you. You know, it's that furnace that breaks down or that refrigerator that conks out or or something else that happened. So it's the big things that you could see coming. But You know, having that spending plan keeping that money some money in reserve having that that emergency fund to cover those little costs that might happen if your transmission fails or the engine goes out in your car? Are you know the auto insurance bill that comes, you know that's coming. So having the emergency fund having 2025 $30,000 are a little bit more into that fund to protect yourself. Is part of the spending plan overall assed. The big picture is concerned having that that money available to cover those emergency things that happen and those little things that you can't see that are gonna happen. That's really important. And I kind of an insistent on making sure that you have that in place for your own benefit. That's not not benefiting me Day it's benefiting. It's benefiting the person and I'm meeting with to make sure that they can have the available cash in the event of something happens. And even even with even with something that you're planning like a trip Or some kind of a vacation. You know you have that emergency fund where you could pay for it right away. And and it's it's all paid for and done in advance. Absolutely. And then having the spending plan is critical. What about having the savings plan? Even in retirement? Your savings don't stop then. Do they? Well, if you have enough for a one K at work, usually that's on autopilot. That's an automatic payroll deduction from your paycheck before you get that money that's coming out of your paycheck in debt payments. I mean, I have a lot of my clients. They set it up where their gas bill their electric bill. Their property taxes are all automatically debited from their account. You know, on a monthly order. Or semi annual basis. Well, however, they have it set up, you know, obviously with electric and gas and phone bills that's automatically monthly. But having those having those things in place, it makes your life a lot easier. Where does mine are? I'm very automated. It's definitely yes, a convenience and it's you know, you don't have to sit down and write checks every day or every week. One of the case might be And this way, you know you're saving at the same time. You're you're budgeting. You know, having that spending plan while you're working, You know it's Zamora. Important to understand that while you're working and make sure that you're saving on contributing to that retirement account, because again, the more money you have in retirement, the happier you're gonna be and putting that money away and having it on autopilot, So it's just a naughty Matic thing. You don't even miss the money anymore because it's just coming up before you even see it. So I keep on doing that. I insist. You keep on doing that, because it's all for your retirement because once yet once that W two paycheck goes away, it's all about you know you and it's all about generating your own W to come right in the form in the form of monthly income, so and that's that's what I'm an expert at doing is is helping you create that let lifetime income In retirement. Once you hang up that that working shingle it's time to time to take care of yourself, and it's nice to because even after you hang up the working shingle those retirement paychecks kick in. If you've talked with Marty get the plan. He talks about the guaranteed income that he bills into that plant even up to age 100 beyond It's guaranteed 888519 90 96. You can talk to Marty about that 888. 519 90 96. We're looking at what could sabotage your budget and making sure you don't do this. Of course, You want to help people in retirement, your your kids, grandkids, your parents, even possibly, But you've got to watch it, though, because it could be at your own expense. Exactly, And it's it's important to make sure that you don't put yourself in peril. Helping your kids. You gotta learn how to say no, and it's not. Fortunately, it's just a fact of life. You know, I have three kids myself. They're all in their early and mid twenties, So I got married later, and I had kids later. So I'm in my mid sixties and I still have a 22 year old. So but, yeah, you know, Luckily, she's actually self sufficient. All three of my kids are pretty much self sufficient. But if you're supporting and helping parents, I was helping my parents before they both passed. They needed a lot of help, and their their situation was was a difficult one at best, But I have a lot of people. They have their parents living with them or their apparent living with them on their helping support that parent and that's just, you know, important. You've got to take care of your your family, too. So Making sure that you have the money available to do that, and not putting yourself in a position of of peril is really important to make sure that that doesn't happen to yourself. So Let's sit down, have a discussion and, you know, put it put that into the spending plan to make sure that your accounting for that and in looking at making sure you don't sabotage your retirement, I think what the next thing you have here is really important. And I know you mentioned clients who worked by choice, But relying on working in retirement can be dangerous. Oh, yes, of course they've mean if you're if you're in a position where you have to work, you know that's that's a difficult situation to be in. So you know my whole Focus is to make sure that you put away enough money so you don't have to work. So once you decide you're gonna you're gonna hang it up and you're gonna retire. The income will be sufficient to meet your needs for the rest of your life, and that's again. That's where I sit down at the office and have a discussion. Putting all the cards on the table me putting together these plans for you. You know that guaranteed lifetime income plan, And we also have to include that social security maximization report. So that's very important. You can't forget about social security, You know? Do you have other sources of income that are gonna help you while you're working? If you you know my my whole contention, and I my hope is that you work because you want to not because you have to But there's there's people out there that, you know. Hey, I'm gonna work for the rest of my life. Because I really enjoy what I'm doing. And I make a good living, helping people put their plans together and retire comfortably. And I own the company. So I was gonna nobody could fire me. So I'm not worried about that. And I if I need to take off time, I'm able to do that. So I'm probably gonna work for the rest of my life because I really enjoy what I'm doing. And as long as long as I have the ability I'm going to continue so, but you know, as far as you're concerned, you know, let's sit down. Let's have that meeting. Let's put all the all your assets on the table and see where you stand. You know, Can you retire? Can you work part time? And is it going to be in your best interest to do just that and then looking at health care?.

"Well, happy weekend again, Dave. How are you? We can again, you know, And I know from talking to you. You're as busy if not busy, or on the weekends. Then you are during the week. Yeah, it's crazy. It's non stopping seven days a week, So I love it. I'm enjoying it. And But, yeah, it's be nice to have a little bit of a break once in a while, right? Yeah, exactly. Exactly. And I I got I took the break for you. I last weekend this weekend. I plan to be a little busy. Because I was almost felt guilty. All idea was binge watch and movies and didn't even leave the house. Well, when you were tired, uh, there could be a gold watch. Maybe not Probably not a pension. Most of us have had multiple jobs there on her career. Turning 65 does get you some things and not others. So we're gonna point out what that magical age can be. Bug get you and what it can't Well, you haven't reached full retirement age for Social Security, added 65. Well, that used to be the benchmark age years ago when your parents, you know, retired at 60, you know whenever they retired. 65 65 was the retirement age. Everybody you know, knew that you had to retire 65. Because you know what the reason they picked that age was actually the life expectancy was 67 back in the day, right? So so they pick 65 is the read as the full retirement age, but Now It's 66 a number of months like minus 66 4 months. That's my full retirement age of my age. I was born in 56. If you were born in 1960, or after your full retirement age is 67. So stay tuned. They're probably going to change that, too, because we are living longer, so they're probably going to make the Social Security retirement Age higher. I wouldn't doubt it up four grand fathered in though we will be. You know, Probably I would imagine that we're probably gonna be there. Probably, you know, for the younger generation, the millennials and And the X Factor's or whatever they're called These days. E can't keep up with all the general we're living so long. They're more generations alive at the same time next Gen Xers and so So that yeah, they'll probably change the retirement age in the future. I can't see because, you know, they keep claiming and saying that the fund is running low and the trust fund this whole security trust fund is gonna be depleted by such and such 2034 I think is the year S so they're probably going to extend that the retirement age to extend the benefits and you know, Congress here. Here's a hand. Congress would replace the two trillion you took from the Social Security Trust fund and right trust fund the world to stay solvent for awhile longer, right? Exactly. We definitely and you've mentioned that they were going to do what they have to do. To make sure it's not going to be Armageddon. What Social Security Here's another one in 65. Here's something you can do and that sign up for Medicare. What? So what's the process? And how early should you start that? Well, if you're still working and have a health plan through your job you don't have to sign up at 65. But generally speaking, you have to supply for Social Medicare at age 65. That's the benchmark age. We're all required to take it at 65. I turned 65 this year, so I'm gonna be applying for Medicare. It's It's three months before the month of and three months after your birthday. Your birth month is when you would sign up and apply for Medicare benefits Now also take part B because part B covers the co pays and deductibles and the office visits. So you want to definitely get Medicare part B that comes with it, and there's a there's a premium. For that. So if you haven't taken your social security because you're not required to take it until age 70, actually. So if you haven't taken your social security and you play for Medicare, the part B premium will be sent to you. Quarterly as a as a as a paid a monthly bill. So you have to pay that premium. And if you're not, they normally take it out of your Social Security benefits. But if you haven't taken those Social Security benefits, they're just going to send you a quarterly bill. Okay. All right. Wow. No, they don't make anything easy to the O complicate, You know, that's part of the retirement aspect. That idea with all the time so Medicare, you have to have your Medicare. You have to take part B, Because if you don't take part be, you know, just a quick story. I had a client who didn't take decided She didn't need Part B And so she went to the office and Had been in office procedure done, and the office sent the bill to Medicare, Medicare said. Well, you're not a hospital, so we're not going to cover the Medicare supplement denied it because Medicare denied it, and she didn't have part B. So she ended up paying and $8500 bill out of hock it because she didn't have part B, which would have covered it. Because again part B covers in office procedures, copays and deductibles. So you definitely want to buy your part B when you apply for Medicare. So what can she do? Can she get it? No, she can get it. But there is. What does the government do? If you don't follow the rules, Dave, they penalized. This is they penalized penalty that keeps on penalizing, isn't it right? So for every year that you don't take part B. There's a 10% premium penalty. So if you don't take it for three years, that's a 30%. Increase in your premium because it's 10% of years, So that's what the government does. If you don't take it on time they penned, they impose a penalty and that penalty is permanent. So it's a 30% increase for her because she was three years after the fact. And then she decided to take it after the fact. And now that she's got a 30% increase in your premium, man. Yeah, that that is the permanent penalty. Now, if here's one thing this is complicated sounding and yes, you want to make sure that you do things on time and Because you don't get a lot of do overs. It helps to have a retirement planning specialist with you. That is Marty Nevil 888519 90 96 888519 90 96 Now had if she had a H s A and I'm hoping she does. That could be she could use the health savings account for that out of pocket. Yes, she could've, but she didn't. Oh, no. Okay, so But, yes, The hscei would have saved the day in that case if she would have had NHS, eh? Because you can use an hscei for anything medically related, including premiums on Medicare supplements and other things so you can contribute when you turn 65 you know you could start withdrawing a tax free. As long as it's to pay. You know, you have to be in a high deductible medical plan it work. Tonto qualify for it. But if your company offers that I would definitely consider making those contributions because they pretax so they're tax deductible on they come out tax free, so and everything and independent and how you invest it. It.

"It's the data show right here on 5. 70 K l i f Well, you don't remember her songs. Jester one movie appearance. That story's coming up from Ed Wallace with a moment in rock'n'roll history at 7 55. It is 7 41 right now it has been busy, busy busy time at the Capitol. In Austin. Uh, well, first of all, because the Texas legislature was gaveled into action. Last week. Yes, but also because they're preparing for the possibility of protests across the country prior to the inauguration of Joe Biden and Clayton Nevil spent a lot of time out there this weekend in Austin. He joins us live now with what he saw. Good morning, Clayton. Amy Dave. Good morning. Yeah, the Texas State Capitol is closed, and the Texas legislators will not be back inside the Capitol in until at least Thursday of this week, and that's because of security concerns over the inauguration in Washington. There were reports last week. That there could be protests leading up to inauguration day at all 50 Capitol buildings across the country and so Texas obviously, of being one of the biggest states in the country, and being a place where there have been armed protest regularly in the past, they decided that they would go ahead and close the Texas State Capitol building. So it was closed and the security is unlike anything I've ever seen before. Yesterday they were guard members, state troopers. Impairs everywhere. You looked lined up across the state Capitol buildings, and they were armed protesters there yesterday. Not as many as they may have anticipated about two dozen armed protesters there yesterday, but everything luckily was peaceful. We gather from from some of your reports that some of those protesters seem to have just kind of taken opportunity taken advantage of the opportunity because they know there's gonna be a lot of attention. They're at the capital for the inauguration, but they were protesting things that have nothing to do with the inauguration or politics. Per se, right? Yeah, there were a couple of groups there. One of them was organized by a guy named Benjamin. Hockey is actually from the Dallas Fort Worth area, and he told me that the plan was Never to protest the election and the protests or the rally. He corrected me when I said protest the rallies that they had had nothing to do with the breach of the U. S Capitol building, either. In fact, he said that this rally was actually planned in October. Now they have the decision whether they should go on with it or if they should postpone, and they decided as several groups that they would go ahead with this and the basic Premise behind this rally was to push for gun rights in Texas and to make sure that legislators don't take any of those gun rights away. One thing that they're pushing for is constitutional. Kerry, which means basically that you don't have to have a license to carry that something that these groups are pushing for us. Well, there wanted to make sure that proposed regulations on licenses and things like that. Don't don't pass so That was the purpose of this rally. But again any time you have armed protesters, organizing rallies just weeks after the breach of the U. S capitol and ahead of the inauguration that prompted authorities to go ahead and close the capital and take precautions. Yeah, definitely cause for concern. How much security did you see around? Was it visible or was ah lot of it hidden No, it was extremely visible, and I think that that had a lot to do with that was part of the purpose is well is to kind of be a deterrent again. They were troopers lined up in pairs across the Capitol grounds. The windows were completely boarded up. There were police line do not cross signs all around the Capitol building, and I talked to a lot of people who weren't aware that the capital was closed, who were coming to two rich from out of town and they were turned away, So there was some disappointment there, But most of the people I spoke with We're understanding of it. But again Austin as a whole pretty quiet for you, will you would typically expect during the legislative session yesterday was a gorgeous day in Austin. But there really weren't that many people out lot of buildings boarded up because of possible protests. And then the Corona virus pandemic as well. Doesn't help, too. So it was kind of an eerie scene in Austin this weekend. All right, thanks very much. There's Clayton level. Down there over the weekend at 7 45 right now, it K l I f coming up on.

"Our next chance of rain showers comes Tuesday. It's 42 degrees of DFW airport. Collin County Judge Chris Hill is demanding more covert 19 vaccine from the state and calls the lack of shots in the county. Unacceptable. Nobody babies. Clayton Nevil spoke with Darryl Willis with Collin County health care services about vaccine availability or lack thereof. So how much vaccine is available in Collin County right now? Collin County like healthcare services. Yeah, well at this exact moment, we don't have any in storage. We are set to receive 6975 next week. There's about 90,000 people that have registered, um, you know, with the shipment of 7000. That's obviously not enough to get everybody vaccinated. Do you guys expect to for that number to his ramp up? Uh, I mean, that's that's the plan. Um, I can tell you let me pull up our numbers that we requested for the coming weeks. So we requested from, uh, DSHs, the Texas Department of State Health Services. We requested 10,000 doses immediately, which ended up being the just under 7000 number that you just heard. We requested 14,000 doses for the week of January 18th and then 42,000 doses. January, 25th and then basically a standing order of 42,000 from that week on it doesn't mean that we're guaranteed to receive that amount of vaccine, but that's what we're requesting at this time. And the state says that the there's a limited supply statewide. And so this particular week they focused on major population centers or more remote areas where there's not other hubs nearby. So are you guys learning that because places like Tarrant and Dallas County have vaccine and have mega centers? That may be part of the reason why Collin County doesn't isn't getting as many doses I mean, it's It's certainly a factor. But you know, we can't speak to two exactly the entire process of how DSHS is rolling out the vaccine. Where were very aware that our residents are, you know, clamoring to get it and justifiably, so we're just asking them to be patient where we're trying to get our own hubs set up and we're hoping to Get as many people vaccinated as quickly as possible in the future. In the meantime, do you encourage people to go to some of those other counties were encouraging Collin County Health care services were encouraging individuals to sign up for his many wait lists that that they feel comfortable being on. "Every major holiday. He usually releases a video with kind of an uplifting message. And you did the same yesterday for New Year's Eve. Let's take a listen in the face of great challenges. This year, American showed incredible grit, strength, tenacity and resolve. And together we achieve truly historic victories like Nobody ever thought possible. Pretty optimistic opening statement. Those were the first words out of the president's mouth in that new year's address, and I think that's one thing that's lost when we look back at 2020. Yeah, There's a lot of just crap that happened. Yeah Cove in the racial stuff, the election, the just the division across the board that there's so much stuff you can point to that when the murder hornets, which were a big of a deal, but whatever and the president came out, said there. You heard him. We conquered and came through so much, which showed him incredible great strength and tenacity. I think I think that is not said enough about how America handle 2020. Absolutely no one buckled. No, no, no one gave up. I know it's there are people who have lost their lives from Cove it and you know, there's You can't escape that and you can't ignore that, And that's that's not what I'm trying to do here. We definitely acknowledged that. And but hopefully for the rest of it for the rest of us. It makes us stronger, right? What I mean? Yeah, For the rest of us. We go into 2021 Go. All right. Is this what I learned from 2020? Yeah. You know, and I move forward one of the hard things about this job just to peel the curtain back. You know when we When we talk a lot of politics, it's hard to be silver lining. It's hard to be optimistic, because you know when you're constantly You know, you know, knee deep in all this just political bickering and back and forth and was the election stolen? Well, yes, it was. Well, No, it wasn't. You know, it's hard to find a silver lining, and I think it's important to try to do that as often as you can in life. And I think the silver lining of 2020 Is that We did make it through. And yeah, there's some things there things that didn't go our way. You know the election didn't go. That's life, though. Yeah, right. The election didn't go our way. And for whatever reason, you can point to all the irregularities or what? What it may be. But we made it. We did you know, we we made it through. We've got the vaccine and record time and the president talked about that a lot in his speeches. Well, he said, this is kind of a funny way he spun. We've already begun in nationwide vaccination program and we're sending the vaccine all over the world. The world will benefit will benefit and everybody's calling to thank me. I'm not Everybody know there's some Democrats not wanting to thank you, President Trump, but they should be because Operation Warp speed has worked. It got the back. They're not right. Yeah, So, uh, That's what I'm thankful for. I know it sounds weird. I'm thankful for 2020. And in a weird way, because because, you know, once the lessons learned from it, Yeah, exactly. And the cheesy line whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Well, and you know what? Here we are. It's the It's the first of the year and we're we are up this morning. We woke up this morning.
