The Queen's Gambit (Netflix Mini-Series 2020)
"Still in their top five I remember correctly. Is the queen's gambit. It was number one don't know where it is. Right now. I still think it's the number one show streaming right now on the streamer, but it is about the orphan who becomes A chess Phanom. And she learns chess from the maintenance man downstairs in the orphanage and her life. Just kind of goes from there, and I'm keeping it purposely broad, cause I so want you and I've been I've been guilty of Oversharing and I want to I want you guys to Kind of unfold the show for yourself because that's that's part of the magic of it, because it's so gosh darn good. We talked about it last week. Alexis is back and you watched it a cz. Well, I watched everything. Jeez, I could not stop watching it. And they binged it in four days. Completely just watched the whole thing. It's about what we did. Yeah, I'm with you. Oh, man. It is so good. Now I don't know much about chess. So I think that if you do love chess, you'll even get more in terms of the moves because they really had a really cool way of showing how they do it with the shadows of the ponds and the different You know pieces and then the boards. You know how they do the different moves. And what did the bishop do? And you know all of that, And there's all of these different ways to come at it. You know, different theories and thiss guy does it this way, and he always moves this first and so That was kind of lost on me. But it just It was such a great story and a great reminder that if you want to be the best at what you dio, it takes a lot of hard work a lot of dedication. And also trying around it. Right and remembering the people around. You mean I think about LeBron James and Michael Jordan. Serena Williams. Now, of course, this is in the sports world. Tom Brady, You know, like you are a goat. You really do need to work. You know, they're not out partying and having fun, And that's kind of the same case with the in the Queen's gambit, she Beth. She's just really focused on her goal of being the best chess player. I love that she didn't really focus on her gender, but the media did. And but it's still a hard world to be in when it's all it's all men like, generally older sixties in the fifties and sixties, So you know at the time it's during the Cold War. There's already tensions between the U. S and the Soviet Union already at that time, and then the best chess players come from the Soviet Union. So it was really reflective of the time to mean just in a chess game, So I really like that. I like the full circle aspect of the story toward the end. Again. I don't want to give too much away like you, said Jace. But itjust they answer a lot of questions that you may have as you're watching it and satisfying answers. I see what Yeah, yeah. Don. Where are you? I am just finished Episode four They're going to attack a lot into each episode, though. I mean, even by the end of the first one, you're like, Whoa. This is like a full movie. I just watched her. That's so true, Don. Yeah. In the anime pack a lot in. I mean so much. It's like the opposite of what they did with blind manner, not enough material that they snatched into. Ah, really long boring. Story That was way too many episodes. This is very efficient and I love the writing. You get to know her and what she's all about, Really? Not necessarily through the dialogue, but what they show you. Yes. Great writing, Thie. Other thing. It's the fashion one. Everything she wore. This will be nominated for costume design. Don't you think? Absolutely, without a doubt, the production design and the wardrobe. They're They're co stars. They're they're absolute co stars, and she carries it. She carries it so well, those clothes you know that old saying the the clothes don't wear you. You wear the clothes. She wears those clothes girl. I mean, she capital. W wears out, though, that wardrobe and Well, I just want to be her and Lex. I don't know if you felt this way, said this to dawn last week in the most complimentary way possible. I was sad. I was sad at the conclusion not because of the conclusion, but because I wanted more time with Beth, I interesting. I don't often have that reaction to characters. Um, you know, like Star Wars. I just, You know, I want to hang out with Ray and I want to know what's happening and all that stuff. But I really I'm sad that I'm not going to be invited in her world anymore. Well, that's what I was going to ask you because it does look like maybe a season two is in the works. Really? Yeah. There at least floating the idea around what it could be. Will they bring it back for a second season s wires asking that and It's not renewed. Of course, there's no news about that. But this next season would dive into her love life, her family history, that type of thing. I had the opposite reaction. I feel like this miniseries. It was perfect. In the way that they told it. I don't know if I need to know more. I love I love how it ended, and just That's great. Yeah, I'm not saying I want it because they'll mess it up, right? That's what I'm worried about. Yeah, I It's like big little lives. You know, the first was based on a book and that was near perfect. And then you went back, and you basically forced the author to create another story in a short amount of time. And you know, it wasn't a natural process. You gave the A writer. A hard deadline. I don't think you know. Not all. Not all creatives work well with that s O this. Yeah, but I was Muchas. I'm sad for that desire to him, Not with her. I would rather have that than an unsatisfying Sequel Hard to beat that this is Yeah, because this is just a compliment. I I miss her. I want to know what she's doing, but I'll rely on my imagination for that, and I'm fine. It's just It's just a huge compliment to the writer of the novel into the two the creatives behind this miniseries. They did such a good job that they made me want, Maura and that Whatmore could you ask for with a creative endeavor? You know Jerry Seinfeld, No one to get off the stage. They're off the stage and I miss her because she's so freaking cool. I want to have with her. I want her to be my friend. And then I want to steal all of her clothes. Be nude. That's not nice. Other things, didn't you guys? Yeah, No kidding. Just gorgeous. Benny Watts. The character who the guy who plays many Watts, Thomas Brody Stang stur. Yeah, He's that kid from love, Actually, Yeah. Grew up guys. He looks exactly the same thing just looks like someone pulled them from his head. Hold his legs and to stretch them a little bit. Was he also in finding Neverland with Johnny Depp? Yes, I think so. The writer of Peter Pan. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, but it just looks like someone stretched him. You had put a mustache auto. And then the other kid is from Harry Potter. Yes, friend of her selling. Is Perry's cousin, His awful cousin that he lives with. Yeah, deadly Douglas. Yeah, and he's the other person and I just like I said this to dawn. I just like that the old you know, one of the themes that I realized after the fact is really about loneliness, you know, Beth the character and we're talking queen's gambit as we wrap it up here on Netflix. You know, it's a great lesson where sometimes you just see what's right in front of your face. And Beth did that. Beth was guilty of thinking that she was very alone. She was on ly kind of looking within just a few inches of her face. But if she just looked around She just looked a little bit to her left and right. She realized she really wasn't alone. And I think that's a good universal lesson for all of us that sometimes when we do feel very isolated and alone where we really are not, itjust takes Takes a moment to look around. And Beth really was Beth her whole life and, understandably, so she felt alone. But she really never wasn't. She always had people that was rooting for her, but she just never internally felt that way. Andi. I've found that fascinating to examine in that show. So the Queen's gambit everybody on Netflix If you haven't it, it's
Lawsuit of Michael Jackson sexual abuse accuser dismissed
"Jackson's estate from James Safe, Chuck, if you remember he was a part of the documentary leaving Neverland. That you can still see. Is it on Netflix or HBO? HBO? Yes. So he was one of Michael Jackson's accusers. Well, that was an ongoing case and it looks like Judge has dismissed This over these alleged abuse claims. He's dismissed the case because he says that he is James and his legal team presented no facts to support their key argument. Oh, now evidence, lack of evidence. And Michael Jackson fans, you know, have been tweeting like crazy. That's why you have seen maybe hashtag M J innocent. People saying he's been innocent since day one, and we will stop at nothing to prove that, um In the other other tweets about Michael Jackson and how he's never it's. It's the media's fault that you know, like people like Piers, Morgan. Who have just Ah made him into a monster. And over the years he's just always been innocent. Your thoughts I will

"And before we get started with today's episode we wanted to share something that we're participating in this summer. Ren Disney is doing a virtual run series and Brendan. I have decided to participate in it. Luckily they are just five ks. So nothing super crazy. We've learned our lesson at least for now but we are really excited to be participating in the races and if these races are something that you are also participating in we've set up a group. It's called Neverland. Outcast VIRTUAL RUN CLUB. And it's kind of a mouthful but Brendan. I set it up along with his brother in our friend. Grade who participate in Brennan's other podcasts kingdom outcast so we kind of combined the two podcasts and created one big group and we think it'll just be a fun way for us to share our training schedules costumes if you participate in dress up in wearing costumes to virtual run your local park and your local park. Yes so you might get a lot of funny looks but you get a medal at the end. So that's all that really matters and we just think it'll be a fun community a good way to connect with people And we're excited about it. Yeah so the link to that group is in our show notes or you can search for Neverland. Outcasts virtual run club to mouthful but it was the best name that we could come up with. But it shouldn't be fun. I if you don't know the themes for these three runs that take place over the summer. In June July and August will be space mountain haunted mansion and the Mad Tea Party. So should be a lot of fun. You could be a ghost dressed up running in near Park. That would be cool. It might be a little hot for that. You could do a tandem. Three people and you could be a cart and space mountain and that would be funny whatever it might be. We thought it'd be fun to have a place to share all the photos and share your experience as we go through those last thing of registration for those races opens up to Morrow March twenty fourth. So if you want to participate in just one or participate in all three and you can do that if you do three you get the challenge metal as well. Everybody loves an extra something right. So it'll be fun. Yeah non-competitive or just all having fun sharing it if you WANNA walk them to do whatever we have to do. Yeah should be fun. Let us know if you need the link to that group and we can send it to you as well so our episode. Today is an interview that we are so excited to share with you been in the works for a while and a lot of people have asked for this interview which is always a good sign. I know you guys love the work that Michael Kay does on his Youtube Channel and in his facebook group and on Instagram and everywhere else as well. So we're so excited to share with. You will let Michael. Introduce himself but we'll go ahead and play it and after that we will be back on Wednesday for our three Caballeros Grand Fiesta tour episode. So here is our interview with Michael. Caine thanks so much for having me. I really appreciate it. Yeah no I'm Michael K delighted to be able to share in the magic with you. I have loved Disney since before I was born in for those who may not know. I actually haven't gone to Disney While I was still yet to be born my mom brought me with her and the entire family. We'd go together on these adventures and I continued sharing that magic into my adulthood and love at each more and more each day. Yeah well that kind of opens up into our first question but we are so interested in hearing about your Disney story so kind of how it started with. Also how it's evolved over time. No I appreciate that. Yeah it has so I have loved Disney way back when actually grandparents on both sides of my family at my dad's parents at mom's parents and adds parents were in Florida. Mom's parents were in California and my mom's parents were some of the. I guess that they say some of the first. That's yet to be determined into Disneyland when it opened my mom. My Dad's parents moved to Florida to be closer to Disney. So it has been my family way way back when we have always loved it and for me it kind of creates that family connection which I really value so so much. And that's it evolved from there you know as a child at seal that have a lot of fun with family and then as I grew up I realized how much it really meant to me and I wanted to be able to share that with family and with friends and it just evolved into what it is now. Yeah so we're going to mention it probably quite a few times in this interview but I remember you Terry Wieland. Both our mutual friend wrote what the magic means. And you were featured in chapter one of that book. So what an honor there honor and you interior spoke a lot about how Disney is a multi generational thing for you. That a lot of your memories are going to the parks with your grandparents and seeing how they experienced things and and just having those fond memories so. I think a lot of people can relate to that. Yeah there's something special about it It ties back into you know who we are in the value of family. And I feel like that you know. It's it's tough to capture some time. In the day to day you're rushing around going to work. You know doing the day to day thing groceries. Whatever it is and you taking that time to all be together and you know you think about being disconnected. I love talking about being disconnected and Disney cruise. A good example of that but at Disneyworld you get a lot of that as well. You get to be with family. Just just enjoy it altogether. Which was Waltz Vision? We was his vision he said okay. Let's let's let's enjoy it together as a family. Every one gets in on the fun for sure so I think maybe a good place to start is rolling back I would say. Youtube is probably what you put the most effort into. I would assume you would agree with that. Prompted starting the channel. What was the first inspiration or the first conversation that took place where you decided? I'm going to go for this very good question. Actually all start on facebook even further back and I was. I was sharing in the magic with family. Just by taking some pictures remember I would go to Disney with my family all the time and it came to a point where we couldn't go as a family because of scheduling. Or you know. Some people can't go. Some people can or finance whatever it was and I realized that you know young adult. I've really still wanted to go and I ended up going by and I just take take trips all by myself. No one else was there and I took pictures. I took a camera always loved photography and I took a camera with me. Sorta take some pictures and bring them back for family. I love doing that and then one day I still believe that I was one of the first folks on facebook live it first launched and I was in in the NFC cod does a flower garden festival number. Forget it launched the you know what it came out that day was part of a Beta and he said you know what we try this. I mean let me see if David my brother will log. On and see if he'll watch with me from there it evolved. It started to grow and evolve night. Share these trips that I go on and then start to share my love of the magic through other you know livestream videos on facebook and then went to the sixtieth anniversary of Disneyland. Which was incredible and we had a few changes and I switched over to Youtube. And that's where things really started to change because I realized that there was a you know. There's a lot of friends out there who wanted to share in the magic together so I started to change up the styles. Play with my style of logs Play with style of informational video. And next thing you know I And moving to Florida and let me tell you. It is the best decision I ever made because I could not be happier with being. Close the magic. It's something that I've always wanted and I love sharing it with friends every single day. I'M GONNA get a little off of our scheduled questions because I think that moved to Orlando is really important and it kind of ties into all the other questions and things that we're GonNa talk about today. But what gave you that final push to move to Orlando went just like clicked and you just decided to go for it. It was actually a job thing. I was waiting for the right opportunity to come along. 'cause I wanted to keep the full-time job and be able to do what I WANNA do. As well at the same time at least for now and I finally found it took me a long time to find what I was looking for but I found it lined up with my skills and I was able to kind of transition in and smiling. Every day is awesome. I think that's something that allows people are probably waiting for. I can say even us that would be the dream right field to move down there. It took me years. I was searching for so many years. I've been thinking about it and thinking about it and for the longest time I said to myself. I'm not going to do this anytime soon. Right it's probably going to be a few more years few more years. Even I'm GonNa tell you weeks before I got got the notice that it was going. I would say a few more years at the minimum. It just kind of happened the right job at the right time and off we went. Did you ever get discouraged or thing that it wasn't going to happen? Like did you ever lose? Hope I don't think I left lost hope that it would never happen. I was hopeful that it would be sooner rather than later so there were times where I say. Well maybe I'll get a chance to move when I retire or something like that so I didn't think that it would be never but I did think it may take a little bit longer than what it took. There's got to be a study out there that we can conduct on grandparents that moved to Florida for Disney and probably in retirement and then like generations later to it. Because you mentioned you did that and unimagined. We might do that. Catherine your grandfather did that exact thing to go down there and work for Disney. Yeah when he retired. That'd be me flee decision these definitely look into it. You gotta get into it so your channel has evolved of course lately because of your move but historically you've done that combination of the park blog style but also the educational videos at home. Kind of how do you find the balance between those two different styles? Especially if you're limited and you can't get to the parks as much as you want and then I'll add onto that and say. Do you have a preference Pacific?.

Yeah so we shared a little bit on social media of course so two weeks ago now Nashville specifically our little town of Mount Juliet which is just east of town just got devastated by tornadoes. We were really lucky that it ended up going about a mile away from our house. And it's actually pretty scary that if you draw a map between our house my parents house and my brother and sister-in-law laws house went straight down the middle of all of us so we were all very lucky but the devastation was really overwhelming. So I think they're up to now. They say that they were ten tornadoes through Middle Tennessee in that one night which is just crazy. I remember actually so. We got the notification on our phone. I think it was one o'clock in the morning and I jumped up. Amelie and I'm trying to get out of bed. We went to our little safe places. Just a bathroom in the middle of our house and we were sitting there in the news actually showed when the Tornado touched down and it pretty much said that it was coming straight for us. And if you've ever been in a natural disaster like that I mean that's just terrifying like the thought of it's coming straight towards you and there's literally nothing that you can do so we just watched it and we were keeping close tabs on it and like Brennan said Luckily it missed us in all of our families but there were a lot of people in our community and people that are really near and dear to us that were not so fortunate to have our schools in our county got hit again. It was in the school that I work at that kind of like our sister. School like a mile down the road from us. They got hit and a lot of teachers them. My mom works with that. I worked with in the past. They lost everything so that was just really hard and that happened on. I guess you would say Tuesday morning in on Monday afternoon. I guess We shared that my family had. I had a foster brother In that Monday he actually got Re homed I guess is the correct phrase that was just like an emotionally draining day for us too so it was kind of one huge hit after another And we were just drained for that whole week really so we were really just looking forward to our trip to Disneyworld. Which is Oregon talk about today but before we do that we do want to mention some of us have reached out on how you can help. Nashville and Mount Juliet specifically and we've been kind of trying to vet out different options and different charities or ways to give back up until now it's really just been like we need. Volunteers like people need to pull scrap out of the woods and dig through their houses. Dick through people's houses to find their keepsakes and things that they need to keep. But now we're kind of in rebuild mode in something that hits really close to home for us so cather mention. There were two schools that were directly hit in our county. The Elementary School is actually the one that I went to and then it was a middle school. Which is we have two middle schools in our town. It's just opposite one. The Catholic teaches at But it's like the kids in our neighborhood. Go to that school the. I'm sure you've seen pictures if you're not then you can certainly search for them and see them but all of those teachers were not allowed to go back into school even if they were on the side didn't get hit like if you're a teacher at either the schools you could not go back and get any of your possessions like they're complete demolition job. It's probably going to take eighteen months before they get up and running again with those schools so all of that is to say. I'm sure many of you know teachers spend a lot of their own money out of their pockets to get the proper things that they need for their classroom to get supplies to your decorations just to make the learning environment as comfortable as possible for the children and so those teachers some of them their homes were probably damaged a lot of them work as they live where they teach and so they're just really tough positions luckily they there's been some great people who have kind of organized all of these teachers Amazon wish-list into one Google document. And so you can just click through and see if there's something maybe that you want to purchase for these teachers as they're trying to get their lives back on track School has still not started back yet now because of corona virus. But whenever they do they're going to need supplies and what's really cool is I mean there's tons of things everything from pennsyl- racers for fifty cents to chairs and books and all those types of things so anything. If feel moved to help you know anything is super valuable in. And actually we'll send it straight to their homes or their home was destroyed will send it to whatever address they set up maybe a friend or a family member or something like that but it is really just easy way to give back as our community drives to rebuild and like. Brennan said it is something we wanted to something that we feel strongly about and then is something that means a lot to us so the link to that will be in our show notes. You can also message us on instagram or facebook or anywhere else or email us and we will send that link over to you if you feel moved and we certainly appreciate everybody checking in on us the amount of support and You know people showing care and love for us was really overwhelming so we certainly are very appreciative of that. Yeah so kind of like what? Brennan said we to Disney right at the peak of all of this kind of corona virus craziness. And that's maybe a little little teeny weeny piece of what? Rian talk about because we don't WanNa get hung up on that. Obviously that's something that's really impacting our Disney community. But it was interesting to be there kind of at this time. Don't you think it was a really weird vibe? It was people? Were just kind of on edge. It seemed like a little. We know like nobody was rude but everybody was just very kind of cautious. Moving slowly you could just tell. People are acting a little bit differently than they normally would have. Yeah I spring break. I will say it was still busy. I mean it's not like it was deserted by any means but we've gone for spring break for the past three or four years and it was definitely less busy than it has been. It is a weird feeling knowing that we are going to be some of the last people that were in Disney world for the next couple of weeks hopefully they can open the parche backup in April. But that's really. I think we want to talk about corona virus. I think everybody needs a break from it. it's just dominating everything we certainly hope everybody. Staying safe catching up on their Disney. Pause doing their `isolation or whatever you're choosing to do but just wanted to throw it out there just to kind of ties into a little bit of a trip report but that's it talking about it anymore so we're gonNA take a quick break and talk about some of our friends and some of our shops that we want to support and then we'll be back to share the rest of the trip report so as you guys know. The parks are closed. This is a wonderful time to support those small shops and support those small creators. That could really take hit right now since people aren't going on trips and everything along with that so we want Carmen..

"We interviewed her on episode Number One hundred hundred and thirty seven we had a blast chatting with her always so back to it. I guess yeah so next. We have have our personal history section. this one doesn't stand out to me as much as maybe other attractions do. Oh but I do know. Every single time that we went to Walt Disneyworld growing up my family road. Peter Pants like I do not remember it having a really won't Q.. Like in the nineties and early two thousands. Yeah and maybe it was just honestly the whole time I was growing up. I don't remember crowds in lines quite right like today. So maybe that's part of it. I don't know but I would agree that this was a staple for my family mostly because my sister and I we're wimps growing up and we didn't write anything scarier bigger fast So this one was a good one for us. It's also I know. Both I traveled with our grandparents to Disneyworld is also perfect grandparent. Ride I agree it is. It's not jerky it's very slow. Easy easy on and off the other thing that I remember about this growing up and nobody quote me on this really. Put My mother on this but she at one point told me that when she when her parents took her to Disneyworld. I think it had to have been in the late seventies maybe early eighties but pretty soon. After it open maybe mid seventies yeah I don't I don't know I think she was like preteen anyway that's lost in the story. She mentioned that these sensation Shen flying on Peter. Pan's flight was so abstract and so strange for people in that time period that they had like Barf bags of available to the people writing it because it was so thrilling for that time period which is crazy to think about. Yeah I mean I guess I'm trying to think of some of those other like original rides. I mean it would be very different. You know when some of the different perspectives of like flying lying over London and things like that I mean I guess I could. I could maybe see it because you feel like you're higher up than you really are. Yes Yeah Ah like early motion sickness. I guess some people get that looking at screens. There's just seems crazy. If anybody else has any fact you know if you have any experiences any family members he went then yeah. I'm be interested because because I've never read that anywhere else. Yeah but I was told that In the last thing like obviously Peter Pan is very near and dear to my heart. I don't think it's one of your favorite movies. Just not why I mean I like Geico some of the message and I like obviously the idea of never growing up because we're still kids at heart but not quite like is not the same level of fandom that you have I mean like we've got a Peter Pan Quote on our wall. The microphone is sitting on Peter Pan Mouse pad right now. Yeah Yeah I mean. I'm all in on Peter Pan. Yeah so I feel like it's almost hard for me to experience this attraction like someone who doesn't Obsessed with the story in the message of Peter Pan so I feel like everything that I say about this taken with a grain of salt because I come from space where Peter is my hero and anybody who slander him you included slander him. That show once upon a time has ruined. Peter Peter Pan. Now people are saying that in the cartoon he was a jerk at my goodness. So I don't like that. Okay just let that be known. It's known okay but it is a good ride and I think I guess that's where we kind of get to our never land score. Says she'd be explain how that works. Yeah so the components that we listed that go into a Neverland score are the ability to take you out of reality. I guess immersion the story that you are being told the re ride ability of it the effects technology which I'm still on the fence of whether or not we include that it was my idea I am including it and and just the emotional attachment of the emotions that it draws out of you so based on all of those components components. And what we're going to do with these is we're going to rank all the rides and attractions that we do based on this score so no pressure it's going in the official record of renting lists. I can't change my mind later. Is that what you're saying. Correct this is official so with all that in mind. What is your score? We're out of ten K with twenty my score I'm GonNa tell you my mindset. I guess I do think it does a really good job of of taking reality and telling you a story I think to me those are the highlights of this ride and Just because the effects technology like other than the key when I know they've added little lights and things recently To try to beef it up but you know. There's not a ton there rewrite ability. I like the ride but took it might have a lot to do with just the way but it's not one that we ride every time honestly when we wrote it in October Uber with our niece and your family. That's probably the first time we were in a really really long time. So I don't think it has great rewrite ability ability Oh man so I guess my score is going to be a six and five tenths. Six point five. I can say point five. That was once a math teacher. Okay common common core is taking over our podcast. I think all those are valid. I mean I feel the same way about most of them. It's not got an attraction that when we leave virtue if we didn't write it that I'm upset about yeah. There are ones that fall into that category Gordon. I really feel like we missed out if we didn't ride something. This is not one of them. in honestly I base all of this off of just how you feel once you get off of it like do you feel inspired. Do you feel whatever emotion emotion that you're searching for And I really want to feel that with this ride but I also think it's just too short to like get you into it. That's true. Yeah and there is all I mean. There's kind of a lot going on. There's a lot for you to look at throughout the ride. Yeah I agree. So so maybe if we went through the actual cue that would help out with that But factoring in all of those things her I will give it actually GonNa Change my score. Okay I'm going to give it a seven in even seven. Okay the seven and zero tents which I think is fair because I really enjoy it. But it's not the perfect attraction action. I think that's fair. I do like the changes that they've made to it over the years I like the interactive you you even though we almost never see it yeah Do you think there's anything that they could do to it to make it it at a higher level I mean of course then you get into the discussion of how much do you you change. What Walt designed himself? Well yeah that's kind of what I was getting at you know at the kind of is what it is. 'cause yeah part AMIS like if any of you have been to six flags there's a superman roller coaster where you're flying like Superman. Yeah I'd love to lay down and going roller custer and fly through London Neverland like Peter Pan. That's not realistic though. Yeah so I don't really nothing really stands out to me. They're like Oh man. I wish there scene was different or like if they could do this it would take it to the next level will. Yeah I mean I think it tells the story of the movie pretty well I mean more Nanna is the only thing that I could ask for there. You go more Nanna and maybe it would get that half that you took away. I also always missed the tick tock. That's on your left whenever you're getting getting whenever you're getting off the ship whenever you leaving you seen him there I maybe on the mural on the wall now here's like a real figure Real Crocodile I guess. I'll have to pay more attention. I guess it's not it doesn't stand out to me. 'cause you're always looking to the right when you get are about to get off but he's right there on your left. What is he doing smiling? I mean just just chilling just looking at you okay when we are doing research I Talked about a hidden. Mickey Oh Ooh. Where's the Mickey It said when he first get on the rides year like going into Like the nursery seen everything everything. There are three chocolate chip cookies on a table to your left that making Mickey. I've never seen it for myself so I'll have to look for that next time you so cookie and talk. We are the worst hit Mickey finders of all time. Oh Yeah we never looked for them. Never 'cause we never find signed him. Yeah so I think we've given up so I really enjoyed. This episode is fun. I think it's A. It's a rough rough draft. This is a concept that we're going to keep working on if you guys have any feedback or advice on different ways to tackle this Police feel free to reach out our goal in this. Tell me if this is what you're viewing is well. I want to just shed some light on how you can maximize your experiences on these rides so understanding the history understanding the storytelling and just talking through how we perceive them. I hope will help other people in there there. Yeah so think that's it that's it says since Brennan got to choose Peter Pan's flight I. I was in charge of choosing our next Ride to look into and thought about it long and hard. I knew I wanted to pick something from Animal Kingdom just switch it up because it's my favorite park And ultimately I decided to go with Kilimanjaro Safari Jumbo. Jambo what leave. Oh Horani. Yeah if you take on this fight I would have thought of it Wa Harine. Everybody hope you're having a wonderful week week and we will chat with you next Monday for an interview. "In the morning and you get to you know do a brisk walk through it and at least take it in. It's worth seeing it. What it's for but it's it doesn't justify the way the way? Yeah I agree with that. I think that's fair so as far as actually getting on the ride I think there is a while factor getting into the pirate ship just because of the way that the ride itself runs. What's attached to the ceiling? So I think that plays into the popularity. It's just a different kind of car that you're getting into The first thing you do start by flying over Linden and of course flying over Nanna which is always a favorite scene. Don't you think the goat grazing all time. So if I ever learned in And then they take you over Neverland between those two if he had to pick five or London or Flyover Neverland which wanted to pick It's probably Neverland. But I liked the transition with the second star of the rights and I mean but I like seeing England. You can pick out Big Ben and other landmarks in London but Neverland is what you're there for. Yeah I agree. I think it's a cool idea because it does give you kind of that same feeling that you're like in an airplane and you're looking down at the town like from a different perspective which is interesting But I would also have to pick never land so in Neverland you get to go through. the Indian village entirely you see that Mermaid Lagoon You get to see what else Peter UNHOOK are up in a sword fight. We haven't gotten there yet. Just in breath Neverland. Am I missing anything. The Indians the Mermaid Lagoon I don't think lost boys yes The Lost Boys there. We go out of all of those. I feel like my favorite has always been tiger lily because when me and my sister were little we always loved Tiger Lily and Wendy of course all the girls tiger lily was a personal favorite. I can see that mermaids kind of mean so we didn't really like them that much. Oh ooh they're pretty but they're a little mean they're mean to wendy their own okay So then my favorite part of the ride ride is when you are actually on Hook's ship and you see Peter took fighting and then you make the turn Dan and Peter One and the pirates are now kind of thrown all over the ship. I think that's the most I guess like immersive zip kind of part of the movie. Because that's kind of the climactic of the ride because it's the most climactic part of the movie. Gotcha that makes sense since I mean I like seeing all three of the darling children like tied up around the what do you call that. Masked mast the master of the ship. I think that's a cool scene. But but yeah I mean seeing that Peter One and then you turn the corner. I guess they've gotten to that yet. Where you see okay? I I'm following now. You lost me for a second but I'm following now. So yeah when when you turn the corner and you see a hook you know with his legs stretched out bowed out over tick tock I mean that's the coolest part that's your favorite scene. Yeah I like that one too because I feel like to talk. I don't know he's. He's like a humorous part. He's like the villains villain you know. Tha that's fun. And then it's over. So you know who is really absent from this ride. Who Tinker Bell? You know she kind of is. I'm trying to think of if you really see her. I know she's in the nursery when you're first taking in off And obviously you need her pixie dust to fly. She's probably in. I know she's in more scenes than you realize and because she just has to be so a small scale to the other characters you probably don't notice her as much but I always think it is so interesting that tinker bell. There's so much merchandise tinkerbell. I'll I mean she's she's a very popular character. Like you meet her in mainstream theater for goodness sake that I feel like you meet Tinkerbell and Mickey Mouse like what an honor to be with making now in the it'd be completely honest sometimes. This isn't me being dumb. It's just because I don't associated with it too much. I forget the Tinkerbell from Peter Pan. I know she had their their own. Stena line ferry those movies or TV shows or both. Maybe both that was a little after our Dr Childhood. Yeah I never saw any of those with the pixie hollow chef. But I don't know I always find that so interesting that when I think about Peter Pan the movie that I love so much Lotta Times I just think about Peter Hook me and the Darling Children That's I found so I guess the last thing I had to say about just the right as a whole I do like that in in this ride does have like a clear ending. You know what I mean because sometimes when you get off of those dark rides like mister toad like it just kind of ends ends abruptly and I feel like this ride is nice because it does have a clear beginning middle and end with you no hook being defeated and then you know there with to talk you can tell. He's obviously not in a good place so there is like a consecutive story align and one that makes sense. Yeah I appreciate that too because there are quite a few other dark rides that like nothing. Nothing is resolved oft here. Yeah we're still in a dangerous situation and even yeah and it just makes sense I guess even like with Winnie the Pooh. That's one that kind of stands out that like ends like Hooray. It's like did it really like it was all. It's kind of jumbled. The story well have lumps in Roussel's we'll throw you out of sorts. Maybe that that's what it is. I think so well good deal. So that is is the history and also this scene breakdowns of Peter Plans fight. Peter Pan's flight we. We'll take a quick break and.

"Good deal so molly we're GONNA throw out these Disney topics if you just kinda share. The first thing that comes to your mind to our listeners can get the Disney fan. I'm a little bit better. Okay great so the first one's easy it's just name the Disney parks that visited. I have been to all Walt Disney world parks and Disneyland and Disney California adventure so of those six individual parts. Which one is your favorite? And why my most consistent favorite is epcot I love I'm a really big and get into beaming and I especially love all the food and entertainment entertainment That has to offer through their festivals and others away something different going on through the year and I also like the feeling that epcot has is of kind of like the nostalgia of it. I never experienced at brought center at the eighties. But when you're in the parking still kind of get a feel for that optimism. A and I enjoy that sure so we always have to ask our epcot people. Which is your favorite festival vessel? The arts the the one. We haven't been too but we are so excited that they extended it through princess race weekend this year so we will get to experience this year all wonderful. I'm so excited for we all. It's really fantastic. And you have so much fun. What's your favorite part about it? What do you enjoy the most I was? I really liked the food again But the food is very specific festival because it's created very artistically And so I enjoy not that I like that there is so much. I'm huge into art entertainment. So this vessel really speaks to me that they have the Broadway performers that in the American Garden Theatre I like all the artwork from different Disney been vendors are around. I've met some of the artists and gotten some of their artwork from the festival stable. And it's just really cool having the arts and entertainment represented at Epcot. That is so a my alley that I am terrified for our checking account. Yeah 'cause I'm going to fill our wall with Disney the Disney stuff. Yeah really great stuff. So what would be your Disney bucket list trip. I want to go to Tokyo. The Disney that is definitely high bucket list so being able to go over there and go to Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea would make me so happy. Same re tweet. The parks are just so incredible over there and again they're being just spectacular and just their level of attention into detail is unmatched. So it's definitely go there again. Same answer as last time for me. I really WanNa go but there were not huge souvenir people anymore. They're murderers the keyword there merchandise at Tokyo. I mean it's incredible. I'm not a huge birch person either but when I see like the Chippendale stuff that comes out and like it's just so adorable I need everything for sure so next one would be your favorite Disney resort. But it doesn't necessarily have to be one that you've stayed at my favorite is definitely in the Polynesian. I love that resort again. You're stealing all of our answers. It's hard I think that's a hard one to be. Honestly I agree. I the the ambience beyond there and just you know the getting to mix the Disney with like the tropical. Feel even just walking into that lobbying that smell. It's also amazing everything anything you could want so there yet. But you know buggy list. Well yes if you could pass one ride for for the rest of your life. Which one would it be? I would say probably Peter Pan it. It's not necessarily. I really liked that attraction. I think I like other actions like haunted mansion more but Peter Pan Always has wait time and it just so funny to me because you know it's such a classic attraction it's still always has such a long wait time having like an infant pass pass to. It would be so incredible just like hop when everyone go to Neverland Endon slow around and then back on again if you want. When we went with our Nissan we had an excuse to get a lot of Peter? Pan Fast passes. I thought the same things like I could ride this ride so many times over and over again and it's always enjoyable. It's so classic. I agree so sticking with rides and attractions actions. Which one do you think is due for an exit or refurbishment from the parks? I would love to see imagination. Get referred being up have caught fan that I am. I think it'd be so special or that attraction to get some attention. I never experienced the original attraction but apparently really it was really fantastic inspirational Vehicle has some of that energy back into that. Attraction especially since figment is such If basically the mascot of got he deserves more. Yeah so so you are stating we just gotTa be clear for our figment aficionados. You're saying figment admits stays. Is that correct absolutely. Okay right to make that clear it was mostly for Brennan. He was getting a little panicky. We will any time. Figment comes up on the show. I will get quite a few messages. On those people know who they are fired up understandably ably so so which land area within the park's brings you the most inspiration. There's so many great places I really like sitting on a bench around Echo. Go Lake in Hollywood studios now. It's very specific. I like that. I love the old Hollywood. Feel of that park and I especially actually like that. A lot of the building facades are still original two when it was Disney. Mgm Studios especially in that area of the park you can really feel feel like the nostalgia factor. I mean. I grew up when that purpose in its heyday in. Our member will make earliest dizzy. Memories with seeing streets fear performers over in that area And so oh that just really has released special place in my heart. I agree with everything you said. You just missed one minor detail Gertie is there and and I could spend all day with thirty. So what is your favorite snack or go to snack in the parks rush. There are so many fantastic treats and snacks in the parks. I really liked that. They have given so. Many seasonal is no option. That so many you know trendy options. My budget doesn't love that too. Much may not always have to try the latest snack but a classic one that without fail is is just a Mickey Rice. Crispy just love that. so much as Brennan's favorite to he's humping. If you needed a visual right right now he liked that and I get so many messages about that of people questioning that choice and I don't like I can only assume that they've never actually had one. That is definitely the case. Because if you have you not be questioning it still next would be your favorite table service in favorite quick service restaurants. Table.

"Degree weather That sex and it does so we'll end with your favorite Disney. So first one is your favorite Disney movie tron legacy hands down. We have never heard that before. That's good I have a followership behind this because One of these times someone posted there like If you were held captive what would you end. The captor would let you post on instagram. What's the one thing you would put up to let people know that you weren't okay? and My response was like tron legacy is not that good of a movie early in all of my fathers. We would know you're dead that would mean I've made it a point that's hilarious so I mean that's reason enough that you have to come to magic kingdom once Toronto so excited I'm like wow I don't have to fly to Shanghai anymore rate uh-huh that's yeah. That would be much easier to get to Shanghai. Plus it hits my bucket lists of staying three weeks there. I would literally be out front the entire time in just different tron shirt every single day was today guys. Let's do it then. The next one is your favorite Disney quote. Either from Walt himself. Just any of the movies. Oh I don't think I have a specific favorite but I've always liked the. It's kind of fun to do the impossible because that's kind of what we're doing on instagram. With trying to be better than and what we were yesterday it's working against the algorithm. It's trying to find our groove and what we WANNA post than doing the impossible of finding that out within ourselves you know. Yeah for sure. That's a very good one. Very last question of the fast round is your favorite Disney parks. Memory oh cheese I have so many can't just pick one You know what I don't want to pick a favorite of that because I have way too many memories with some of the greatest people you'll ever meet on this planet that I'm knocking to limit it to one experience in one person. But I I love going with my friend Ashley. You guys probably know hours Ash Taylor which is to h is but she's a wonderful human being and I love going with her because we always have a great time just like wandering around the park but then I love going with people who aren't instagram. Emmers they're like my co workers and just spent a weekend with some coworkers there a few weeks ago. And that was a Ho- Larry's trip so that that in itself I I can't pick one thing. It's not limited to one person in one place in one experience. I think that makes a lot of sense for sure. So the very last question that will ask you to kind of tie our interview together with the Nice Vo. What would be your piece of parting? Guidance that you give to someone who is looking to become a Disney content creator or maybe they want to create their own products. It is going to be the same advice. Someone gave me five years ago when I started all this it stay connected with people who learn to put yourself out there and ask Kurd vice and ask for help and just make genuine friendships on the not at the expense of someone else. That's like. Hey can you do the follow for follower. Shout got out for shadow like don't go in with the intention of that but go in with the intention of learning from somebody go in with the intention of being a fan of someone else. Don't start your instagram thinking that everyone's going to be your fan. Just be a fan for someone else in if they never fall you back the okay with that. But but it's having those connections with people is what got my page off the ground. It was getting shout outs from people that that were my friends and wanted to see me succeed. And then it started becoming shouts from pages that found me that are like magical makers getting shout outs from them and and having content that people want to give you a shout out for and then it's slowly but surely the fans that you've created giving you shout outs for that kind stuff but I I've never limited myself and who I talked to if someone wants to learn for me. I've answered this question over dams a lot more than than people might think it's like asking me advice on how to start asking me advice on like Their designs or like how they should print or like my little tips and tricks and I've asked that from other people there. When I started doing the character pins I asked One of my really close friends. Who makes pens? Now's like I don't want to step on your toes. I'm going to be making pins but I just want some of your advice on this. And if they're nice and decent human. When bean's we'll give that to you so it's always about connecting with people for the genuine role of just connecting with human being? Yeah I love that I have. It reminds me of something I read recently. And then I've tried to adopt of try to be the best follower you can be on. Yes so engaged with other people people cheer on other people in that will come back around to us. So I think that's a really great approach and also like if you decide that you wanna falls one and you want the follow back. Give them a reason to fight you back comment on their staff start conversation with them. Do things like that so I love all of that. I think that is very applicable knowledge knowledge that somebody can take and try to get something Roland so I thank you so much for sharing that yeah and I think nowadays with the Algorithm a lot of people get selfish about giving in other people as they're like what am I getting out of giving you more engagement and I don't think it should be about that. It should just be commenting for the sake of commenting and liking for the sake of liking. And if you like it then like if you WanNa comment installments than do that but don't be stingy Ab- out what you put out just because you might not be getting the same thing as exactly right while awesome well Donna. Thank you so much for joining us. We have absolutely loved this conversation. And I know our listeners have have as well so one less thing if you can remind our listeners where they can connect with you online all right you guys can follow me on Instagram at brand by you. "That we look at when trying to pick something up and so I think even if you don't WanNa website right now I think personally personally if you have the funds available it's worth it to go ahead and buy the domain that could be one of the most frustrating things if say we went with Detour Neverland we launched the podcast and then detour was bought. DETOURED AND AIRLINE DOT COM was bought. I mean because he you can't do anything at that point you have name your established and it's Kinda like where do we go from here and we need to have to choose like a Adat something else I guess. or You'd get creative and you ado detoured and I really in podcast dot com or or you could do dot co dot whatever uh ending suffix that you want but you know in this day and age. I think it's important to have something. That's really easy to direct people to you. Know that makes sense that they can remember and they can find you know fairly easily But I also think that same rule can apply for social media websites so make sure that the the name that you're thinking about is available on instagram and twitter. Her and make sure that it reads correctly I can't think of any examples right off the top of my head but I'm sure we've all seen those instagram handles. It doesn't read the way that that the person probably intended ended to make you group letters together differently or like you pronounce something incorrectly just because of how it reads because you can't do capital letters. Here's you can only use underscores and things like that and so there's just you know play around with that. Make sure that what you want is available out there so so that you don't have any difficulty going forward. Yes I think. Research Upfront is definitely key. INSTAGRAM facebook. Google Youtube all of the above really all social media platforms. I think you've gotta look at him. The other thing that has just my preference as has especially within the Disney community. I think it's important to not be like over the top Disney in your name or in your branding but make it obvious where if someone hears about you or click on your profile like they understand that Disney is a major part of your brand. If that's what you're going for I I just don't think don't make people work for it. Don't leave any room for confusion whenever you're doing that so we do have a little bit of data on this and I'm interested to know if you agree with it so this comes from data hero dot com. Tom and they say that when you name a company or a brand you should use the five to ten role meaning that you only use I five to ten characters in your name and we have definitely surpassed that so. We didn't see this before we picked our name but It gives like a lot of good examples. So obviously Google Yahoo starbucks apple varieties in. I mean the list goes on and on and on but that kind of fall into that category and they're very catchy. Yeah so I don't know I'm kind of torn on that I understand and why maybe you should pick a shorter name. Would I also think that's difficult in social media to convey what you are that's true. I mean for those brands. I guess maybe just because they're already so well known although I guess at one point they weren't i. I mean like Apple. That has nothing to do with what they are. I don't know that's kind of why I'm torn. Yeah and I can't really think of any any great examples of like a really short name in the Disney community. I'm racking my brain right now. I'm loss brose. WHO's pretty recognizable? They're short name. But you understand that there. Disney pretty quickly. I would imagine yeah you understand. You're saying it's a nod to Peter Pan and everything that goes on that. I don't know I'm interested here if anybody else has opinions on naming you know I don't think it should should be extra super duper long. You Know Detour Neverland podcast about growing your Disney business. You know that doesn't roll off the Tong but There's a middle ground. I think that they're that works. Yeah I agree you have anything else. Add on this topic. Are we good to share. There are examples I guess I'm ready for examples. Yes so to me. I really love of the job. That Marnie who used to be mainstreet tourist. Now she's a Disney state of mind that h she didn't feel trapped by name she was able. But I think it's important to hear that full story and we need to have her back onto honestly share that because because we didn't talk about it in her episode which is episode number. Seventy eight. But if you listened to that episode you will understand. That Marnie is very calculated and very very intentional about all of her moves So you know just from me. Understanding the part of story that she shared with me is that she felt like she needed update from main street tours to Disney state of mind that better matched where she was with her project and what she was trying to accomplish pushing the message that she was trying to share but she made she started the initial research and moves on it way before the actual actual change happened. She bought the domain name. She reserved the instagram handle. And just left it private you know. She did all all of the things that you need to do. She worked on our logo. So that whenever she was ready to make that switch it was seamless. It was overnight. You know if you tried tried to go to mainstream tourist dot com it would automatically forward you over like thinking about all of those things and not leaving any area for someone to get lost along away where they don't get to your website or they don't find your instagram. I think is important. Yeah that's a really good thing. I like that The other one that I think kind of stands out is Casey from Disneyland Daily. And that's episode one hundred twenty five so not too. Who Long Ago? But I mean her name automatically tells you what you can expect from her She obviously focuses on Disneyland the end and her experiences and giving like reviews and obviously Just daily your day plan. That's what she does so it. It was kind of right there. And you know it's easy to remember It does kind of roll off the tongue which is always nice and it just it matches. It's very everything is very on brand is what it again. Kind of a good example of just everything being streamlined. I uh agree on the outside is Detroit never land. You're really really good nap. And now on the head. Yeah but it took us a while to get dare. We shared it in our last one mouse ear exchange is what we use before not good just not the right for for what we're doing right. Now Yeah it wouldn't make sense for a podcast. Don't think I do like kingdom outcasts. The podcast have I that a subtle pat on the back back for you. I didn't think of it. He thought of it. I think Melissa Greg's wife. Well Pat on the back to Melissa. Yeah Yeah because we focus a lot of marvel and star wars kind of like the outcasts of Disney. You get it. I don't have to explain it got it got it. Okay well good. I really enjoyed this launch episode. I think there's a lot that we can build off here so we hope that you guys will tune in next week where we talk about launch launch slash grow in parentheses fair. "Welcome back to Detour Neverland today is episode number one hundred and fifty so here's what our plan is to cover all in this episode might be a long one so we're going ahead throwing that out there but I do think these are real a helpful because you guys kind of know us from listening to the podcast and how we perceive and take things in in the parks so we wanNA share experiences so that you can take that and had the best time on your next trip so we're GonNa talk about Galaxies Edge Mickey's not so scary Halloween party food including food and wine with that and then just sort of some of our overall impressions where we stayed things that happened skyline or drama getting involved with that yeah so we love these episodes it's exciting just to kind of talk about and reflect on our trip and share it with you guys so I guess we'll go ahead and get started so I think maybe let's I share just sort of the groundwork of where we stay aid and everything that who always with us you guys probably know because we've been sharing it for a while but this was my family's side my side of the family's big trip and it was also our first trip with our niece who is almost eighteen months at this point so we going in that it was going to be a different type of trip for us obviously and we were very excited for that so that we could experience you know all of fantasy land and sort of the things geared Towards Children and babies that we normally don't get to take in so we stayed at the Polynesian for this trip that's one of our DVD home resorts stayed there for a week we got three of the Deluxe Studios you know me and Catherine had one my brother my sister in law and Elliot had one and then my parents had one as well Polynesian going into this was my favorite resort I think it is still my favorite sort would you agree with that yeah so that's I think that's a good thing to mention I mean we love the Polynesian we like the location we like the amenities and the things that they have their particularly Dole whip I think we will whip like at least three times on this trip which is always a good thing overall the Polynesian was great clean rooms nice big rooms perfect size for us Kids with the deluxe studios they have like two bathrooms so blowing one toilet to showers which is really convenient in the morning she sinks like to getting ready area so Brendan had a bathroom and I had a bathroom which is like a better setup than we have at home so it worked out really well and is kind of like a side note this was our planned trip with Brendan's family so we spend the most time with him but of course my mom and my dad were so down there and then as always my sisters down there as well so there were a few times where it was like the whole family together which was Kinda Crazy the first time you've ever done that too if you guys remember back to our episode with Lizzie at the wonderful thing about disease she talked about she's a bubble popper you're like she likes to mix different groups and whatnot I am not a bubble popper like I like to keep my bubble separate obviously it's different because it's all family and it's all one roof but there is some of that uneasiness that comes with like two different sides of the family all together all the time kind of one knows you one aspect and the other knows you from a different area it's it's an interesting dynamic yeah as I say we'll definitely get into that here in a few minutes especially as we the galaxy said Jay think yeah so I love I would book Polynesian when just you and I all the time I think the rest of our family I think they enjoyed the Polynesian especially the convenience of it being on the monorail I do think they prefer to have the two queen beds setup instead of the one bad with a pullout couch so I you know we know all Key West has that setup I think Saratoga did but they are renovating it and I think they might be going towards the one bed and one pullout couch said up yes that'll be interesting to see because we're staying there in February yeah we are so yeah anything else on on Asian I I don't think so I don't think so it was overall it was great I was kind of Downing Captain Cook's at first and then at the very end of the trip that I did I in fact love it so of course you told me that earlier yeah I know I know so anyhow talknet galaxy yeah so galaxy's edge was I was excited to see it before we went ever I sort of had a lot of reservations about smuggler's run I didn't know how I would feel about the particular attraction I also have been sort of reserving my excitement for rise of the resistance just because I think that's going to be nine blowing mind-blowing probably the best right I've ever been on in my life if if the rumors and the expectations are true I think it'll be the most one thing I've ever done so fingers crossed for that because those are pretty high expectations there is high as they get but that was sort of my feeling was I feel like I'm getting galaxies edged light okay instead of getting the full experience I will say I loved it yeah I thought it was extremely immersive I thought all the food and beverage options were tastic I thought smuggler's run was good for what it is I don't think you can view it as a flight of passage because it's the Novi River Journey of that of of galaxies edged it's not meant to be the e ticket attraction that rather riser assistance I think for what it is it was good what do you think I'm GonNa stop you right there so are we talking about smuggler's run I because I feel like Brendan's little mind is like Ping Pong right now and I'm going to need us to go when thing at a time because we created a list okay let's start with just galaxies the atmosphere I okay so to set the scene your late sleepers morning haters don't wake up early for anything people we woke up for extra extra magic hours which means our sleepy buds were there at six am it was a struggle but we did it so we woke up it was just me Brendan in Jordan Brennan's brother and we made our way over there we'll talk about the buses later but the best was I feel like late picking us up but we got two galaxies edge it took US thirty minutes to make it through the bag check for security so if you're ever doing that I would keep that in mind I don't know if that was like a just a fluke on our part or if that's normally what happens but if you're planning to go for extra magic hours I guess get there extra extra extra early because we spend thirty minutes in the back line we got there at six o five and we did not walk into the park until I six thirty five or six forty yeah so that that was the first thing so then we made a tick galaxy's edge after writing some other things I but the I mean it just kinda take it in so we just kind of leisurely walked through the store area the the marketplace ace I guess I shouldn't call it a store area the marketplace we took pictures by you're gonNA have to help me out what was the ship the first one well it wasn't the X. Wing but it was a cross from the excellent so is in the resistance area I don't know what that particular ship is called K. With a little red one and yeah it's not a padres or but it looks like a pod racer I don't know all right so we took some pictures we just kind of walked around and we were hungry so we stopped to get a Rondo wrap the breakfast version because I'm a big breakfast fan so what did you think about that I thought the Rondo wraps were interesting I wish we would've tried the normal one my sister got it we tried some of hers the breakfast one was good if you're comparing it to other breakfast options in Hollywood studios breakfast Joe's blow it out of the water ten at ten times angry but they're onto wrap it was it wasn't bad but it didn't like blew me away I felt like I was eating a hot dog for breakfast which kind of tripped me out I couldn't I didn't eat the whole thing so if you guys don't know normal Rondo rap I believe is the pita bread do they put cheese on it it's the sausage it's a sausage link law and then a saw and I think there's cheese on it as well but don't hold me to that and the breakfast version they just change it up a little bit and it's the pita bread eggs and cheese and sausage some sort of sauce to there was a little bit of sauce one thing that we did hear from some of our friends is that our eggs you're kind of like a I don't know like an egg pancake almost if that makes sense yeah and the ones in Disneyland are actually scrambled eggs like fluffy like you can tell they cracked Eg they put it on a skillet yeah and then they scoop that into the pita bread ars was sort of like McDonald's like what you would get on Egg mcmuffin and it makes sense because our run to wrap was ready I think before we could even finished paying so that might be part of it but like Brennan said if you if you want breakfast we would definitely recommend the talk shows instead so we kind of walked around we waited for my sister and my parents made up with us and then we decided we wanted triad smugglers run so the first time we did I believe the weight was around fifty minutes at that point in the morning you're planning on going for extra magic hours that is a really great option we didn't get dried slinky because it was down that morning we if we would have done that as well you can knock out the rest of the park in that in the extra magic hours one hundred percent if you do it physically so our plan was going into the rest of the park and then get in line for smugglers run at like eight or eight thirty the normal park hours beginning nine into that we could kind of be in between those two Russia's I think that's when we ended up doing it but we got in line for single rider because my brother had done it earlier and it was a walk on at that point and it was pretty much a walk on for us as well we had an anomaly very strange experience happen that I promise you will probably never happen never happen again so I even hate sharing it because I know other people can't replicate this yeah we had a six of us in total get into the line they gave us all of our all of our assignments and their three yep gave us three in one color three in another color and then the party behind us was a dad and two little boys they got all three of the same color and typically when you're in the single writer line they just fill in like two or three people depending on the other party size because if you wait in the entire line they try to guarantee that you'll be like a pile like they'll give you the cooler jobs which was our experience when we did wait in the line so somehow the first three people in our group Guy I don't know the three jobs let's purple cards and then the next bull got green cards but then the other group behind us oh still single writers got the other half of the green cards and so one person in our group was able to switch the green cards with the purple card so all six of US got tried together so it was it happened really fast they were just trying to rush us onto the ride my head was kind of spinning I didn't really know what was going on I know is they took my purple card and gave me a green one in we rain and the thing so like Brennan said I think they were pretty upset with us I don't think they wanted us to switch cards but it was a good time it worked out and like I said it happened like you said it happened so quickly I really don't even know all the specifics of what happened yeah all I know is I got to be a pilot for the first time that I wrote it so I was right pilot for ours my brother was left pilot Catherine you gonner you and Elizabeth were gunners mhm your sister and then the rest of our party was back in the back yeah it was Sarah and Jeff from adult Disney I don't think it matters if we okay okay yeah so our friends Sarran Jeffer- with us too so they were the engineers.

Interview with Rick from Prints Charming Company
"Rick from Prince Charming Co what we love so much about him is he takes his love and his passion for Disney and he combines it with his day job which is a printing shop and he's able to bring artists vision to life so super excited to talk about him. So of course he's going to start off by introducing himself in giving us one fun fact that you might not already know about him man one fact that you don't know about me and again this is VI prince charming for Prince Charming company EVAC. You don't know about me. I was born and raised in Florida. The first thing I ever learned how to drive it was a Zamboni at an ice skating rink man that's right. I also know how to figure skate. You told me that you don't have the castle but realistically I I'm here. I'm glad you guys is GonNa be Great. Great excited he Richard and ask good deal so you don't hear too many Floridians who are ice skater so no that is quite the interesting fact totally bazaar thing. I was fifteen years old job. There was a mall that had an ice skating rink and had an opening right was chested you at the Zamboni. They shouldn't have absolutely should not have ever but they certainly did and I had fun with that for probably two years before the tour mall down and I got to teach it's like tiny tots like three to five year olds ice skating class so imagine about twenty three to five year olds with Nias structure their feet yeah job ever most amazing job ever. Did you have to know how to ice skate before. Did did you learn for the job. I I learned on the job okay I actually decided to go crazy and like learn more than you should have the job like I you view. The jumps in this world have fun stuff. You didn't hear that man. I think the Tampa Bay lightning could use some intermission entertainment or something I can fix that for them. I got along well. That's a that's a good patch. That's probably one of the most unique facts that we've had well there you go. I'll take that so to kind of lay the foundation for everything. We'll start with your Disney story so how did it star are in ultimately evolved into starting prince charming company as far as Disney goes when I was very young I I was raised by my grandmother. Her favorite thing to do is sit in front of the television instead of raise me but it was the Disney channel so it was okay. It was all good right. Eh But the first thing that you remember connecting with and I was probably four or five years old was the skeleton dance and this actually when I saw it came from Disney's Halloween treat the original being out of eighty two. I was born in eighty two so I saw probably eighty five and I've always had like a an affinity for the Halloween and things like that especially with the Disney that paired with Jack that my father was a complete Disney for his favorite resort was always a contemporary the one resort I've never seen it. I've stayed in every every single resort except for the contemporary thus far so seeing Skelton dance than of course watching Disney channel in learning all the fun stuff and then going to the park site. My father took me at a school in verse great for like a week just to go to Disneyworld and that was in. I was hooked. I'm not you know higher. I went on the Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea ride the last day it was operations operation here in Walt Disneyworld that was it I was done. I was hooked so has it been pretty steady throughout or did you ever we go through time where you didn't like to go to. Disneyworld or didn't like Disney's much just kind of always been there always if I can get there. I was there every single day weekend month year. Whatever you WANNA call it. I mean there's Times right now. Even I go once a week. Once every couple of weeks the more it can be there the better and it's just it's Mike Fun Creative outlet for sure if I think that leads perfectly into our next question so of course Prince Charming Company is not your main Gig so you you do have a high printing. which is your full-fledged business that you spend so much time on so can you tell the story of kind of how that lead into starting prince charming cope yeah for sure ace high printing started about fifteen years ago in July two thousand four? I've been putting stickers banners posters t shirts for for everybody. We're talking. Fox Sports in mobile and work kiss Madonna Deepdale Justin Timberlake. These kinds of people alway down to your next door neighbors bar. Dr and the band planned the garage next to you I we've been doing that for years and years and years but the prince charming thing happened last July why and I was literally and you're GonNa love this one in the shower thinking. How do I find that niche market that goes into the Disney community because aw Disney's always had a special place in my heart obviously but how do you break into that small shop market without being hey. I'm ace hi. This is what we're GONNA do ned mark like that. You have to create a character entity. Were held to a break in if you will and there was I thought hey strumming because you know prince charming and I print right so I get out of the shower. I on instagram. Go on the web. I I do go the whole thing. Nobody's got it. I don't know how it went but I'll take it so I started reaching out in July last year sure to cover supply and hundred hood like that under ace high now under prince charming is are saying hey look. I'll give you one hundred free stickers. If you just try me out trying to hook into that and I probably gave thousand stickers way just to see if there was a market for it when I found there was then it was assigned to cartoon is myself and treated the prince charming as you will. This led me to create greater entirely different persona website different company and on November eighteenth last year Mickey Mouse's birthday if you will because I was actually atwill Disneyworld the time I decided this mrinal publicly so muster publicly and it's just been a roller coaster since then at the very fitting start start date right. I think it's ethics in that it was meant to be I know what we're doing so in what is it that appeals to theme park in Pop Culture Disney specifically in kind of what was it that pulled you that way. I wanted to get into that space. It feels like home that I can be the corporate prayer the small business be whatever you want all day long but when it comes is down to the Disney stuff in the small shop community in just the people we meet data feels like home that feels like my hardest it. If this is where your heart is in your creative outlet is why not be there it to me. There's a lot of small shops in a lot of community hannity shops that go find the corporate printers and things like that which is I'm not. GonNa Knock it. Ah with me. Yucky talked to a real person. I give out discounts over. You want fifteen percent off shirt. You got you WANNA package deal. You got free something. It's all yours. I don't care I'm running as high as my real comedy. The prince charming thing is to help small shops to make all these smaller people people realize I say smaller people that makes me sound terrible. The smaller shops small community realized that you don't have to go super corporate to make it work. There's someone just like you sitting in a little ten by ten office with a printer that says hey I can do this quicker faster better aw that's like the slogan for detoured and I really do this but I think that's a really important quarter-point that you know it's kind of small businesses helping other small businesses in that there are other options because I think a lot of people who are are starting out. You just don't know you don't know what's out there. You don't know what the options are and it's really beneficial to work with someone like you. Who has you know people's best interest in mind like you're willing to sit down and take the time to explain everything because vigor corporations don't do that you now. I'm not here to take anybody's money. I'm here to make sure that you guys. Somebody doesn't have to take you know. Do I need it compensated for what we do obviously obviously but I'm not here to hurt anybody. I'd rather make sure all the small shops flourish and it's kind of. I don't want to call it a crusade. There are a couple of online Brennan companies that I am willing to take down one order time yeah yeah because I mean in like Catherine said there's so many like artists that we've talked to and designers that they just say look I don't. I can't front that much money to do do a full-fledged operation or I don't have all these options out there that I have to use you know. Xyz Main big company that you would go out there for so it is so refreshing to know that there's alternatives out there and I think it's an added Bonus Cherry on top that you do get Disney like you understand the culture around it. You understand why people love it so much. Love the parks in love. The movies and I do think there is an intrinsic value that can't be he put down on the bottom line that that you bring in that aspect. I was born and raised in the parks. This is what I do. It's what I what I love. if it has to be not that I meet up at the parks to deliver things or even go over design with you or you come to my shop. I mean I'm not that far. One of the big things that I really like to point out. Is that starting the next two weeks. We're GonNa Start doing something that is free sample pack and this is going to include whatever piece of artwork you send me. I'm going to go ahead and do the work set it all up front lawn sticker incentive for free along with one of my stickers of hundred Acre Hood stickers when apart supplies stickers one source or radio stickers. "Okay Michael Jackson's estate slamming the leaving Neverland documentary that got an outstanding documentary I mean when they say for a film that is complete fiction to be honored in a non fiction any category is a complete farce is what Michael Jackson's estate that no surprise there really known. of the kind of quiet when that came out there's no. the Jackson brothers were like doing the tour de defend Michael I mean they were all I mean I can't keep track of all the brothers I just don't know and I just know that they said something like if they weren't they weren't supposed to speak on it because they had signed some deal a long time ago and well yeah so you have that story was that the the estate tried to put pressure on Netflix I need to be out for H. B. O. I'm sorry yes because of their. try to put pressure on HBO because of a previous contract signed way back when Michael was still alive twenty years ago yeah okay so they say they're continuing to say that this documentary is fiction what I will say is kudos for them winning you know creative arts Emmy for this documentary they want it's best documentary I think right yeah yeah yeah outstanding documentary I know it's very yeah that's exciting for them and I think it does it still is it's just such a muddy it's a very just a muddy waiting to look at Michael Jackson there's just no if ands or buts about it just have to look at it it just feels yok yet what we really are the only people pushing back are the family which is understandable to a certain extent right like you don't want to believe something horrible about a loved one especially when that loved one is you know the multi million dollar cash cow that is one hundred percent and then dead on top of that yeah okay. in death than he ever made in life as most people DO that might be the case for me I don't think but that is what cases. I don't know maybe when I'm done there will be a key is young.

"Welcome back to toward neverland. Today is episode number one hundred thirty two and we're going to talking about tackling a huge obstacle yup so before we jump into that who wanted to mention that we have really worked hard over the past couple of weeks of beefing up our website and making it a more valuable tool for you. Guys are focusing on trying to read as much blog content as we can and so hopefully it is helpful for you guys who wanna check that out. It's detour to neverland dot com. You can also find all of our episodes there with the show notes and everything i hear that from a lot of you that a lot of times getting to the show notes of an episode in your app that you used to listen to podcasts is difficult for your on apple podcast until you swipe up change your life but you can also see those on our website at any time as well so our topic today like catherine. Katherine said is focusing on how to tackle a huge obstacle in your life so particularly in your project. I guess in the context that we're talking about so we'll be covering our approach to obtaining the correct mindset and then how to set yourself up for success in something that seems larger than life. I think i think one thing as just like a disney fan in the disney community we are almost conditioned to dream big huge joined enormous dreams because wall was such a dreamer and i think a lot of times that kind of encourages us to do the same thing but in then dreaming those big dreams there are a lot of obstacles that you have to overcome so that's kind of our focus for today which as you know i love that about the disney community that we're all encouraged to follow these huge aspirations and tackle things that seem mike her completely insurmountable because really they're not for sure so talking about mindset particularly. Actually there's two books that we have read that. I think really hits this home. This is not a plug by any means but i do think like if you're someone who learns by reading in particular then it would really be a great place to start first. One is the wisdom of wall by jeffrey barnes. We went through a mastermind class with this with our frontier wayland. Who is the author of the book that i was going to mention what the magic means so both of those i think think will get you into the perfect mindset of how you can tackle something huge so just to give you a little more context. The wisdom of waltz is a lot about how walt walt built disneyland and i. I'm sure many of you are familiar with that story but it was a completely impossible seaming dream whenever he started to take it on so many different you know hurdles and road blocks and things that he had to overcome to make make disneyland happen so that book is a great one to start with and then what the magic means is a lot more about how you can apply that to your life. I think in hearing others there's life experiences of using that disney magic to your advantage and giving you that motivation encouragement to go further so we'll put the links to both of those in our show notes if you guys want to check those out but i like as those riding the show notes for this page as i have to mention to these because they would really be helpful for someone in this particular spot angry i think each chapter especially in the wisdom of wall kind of walks through a different struggle that wall had and there are a lot of chapters that i was just like yes like i relate to this. I totally understand under emphathize or relate to what he's talking about and jeffrey barnes himself is really interesting just to me because he teaches a disneyland course a college course so that just kind of adds to the interest level for me wife goals life goals yeah. How can i do that in a middle school setting. That's the goal for sure so i think that's a great place to start so if we think back to episode one hundred thirty one with colin kindle from guide for w._w._e. On mondays episode so call and had a huge dream to write this this disney book to add on top of that. He was in college when he thought of that. I don't know how you guys were in college. I was not in any position to write a book at at that point in my life so it just speaks more to kind of how big of an idea that was especially at that time in collins is alleged head in play that clip from mondays. You guys can hear that full story then we'll come back and chat about it sure so as the story kind of goes <hes> i can it. Kinda vividly remember sitting at my college apartment and i was just sitting there. I was thinking what am i gonna do after college. I don't want to be this corporate accountant or something like doubt like like most people are when through college or do something that i enjoyed every day moscow this attornal fear of waking up every day and going to a nine to five job and just hating it <hes>. It's one of those things that i'd rather be doing anything but that and i decided pretty early on that i wanted to do something about that in just kind of build it from there <hes> <hes> obviously i knew it wasn't going to be an easy task. It still isn't an easy task some days but it's it's amazing. How things change you meet the right people along the way <hes> a story always tell lose probably gonna hate me for saying it's me made <hes> but i remember reaching out the loom jello while i in the podcast bays. Everybody buddy knows who is <hes> but are always remember an email sent back to me because i was really hesitant to start a book and after i'd written it i'd been shot down by at least east ten different publishers probably closer to twenty and he sent me an email back and he basically said he believes in it. Try it because at the very least you can say so. You've done something that ninety nine percent of people have never done and can never say that they've tried and that that always stuck with me and it kept me from just kinda completely blowing off the idea and i'll always thank him for that that makes the difference to me. I definitely agree with britain. You know in college that sounds. It's like a big feet and even just recognizing so early on that you know his kind of life. Path might not not be the same as everyone else's. I think that in itself is a big obstacle because then it's like well. What am i going to do so. I think you know as colin decided to write his book. The biggest thing that kind of stands out to me is that you know he did it for himself. It didn't matter what the publishers were saying. It didn't matter what friends or parents or anyone else thought he did it because he knew at the end of the day day it was going to make him the happiest and it was kind of the you know the door that opened everything else. That calls doing now. You have to do it for you and that's the first point that i think that we have to make is that if you're going to go into something that's huge and you're using being outside motivation to do it. You can fill in the blank with anything you want. If it's for notoriety for fame for money whatever it it might be if you're doing it for those outside reasons. I just don't think that's enough to sustain you whenever you hit these roadblocks in these obstacles yes i mean i just can't forsee in a situation where that will lend itself but if you are internally unloaded motivate yourself and saying i'm doing this for me. I'm doing this to add a new skill set under my belt or i went to accomplish this. Just because is it puts me into a different category or whatever it might be. I do think that is sustainable if you were doing it let's say for money i i mean as a million different ways to make money you know so if you hit a hard time and it wasn't working out you just drop it onto the next thing but when your for mindset kind of shifts in you're doing it because it's something that you enjoy or you know this is going to maybe open other doors for your future more than that gives you a much better reason to push through or even like colin mentioned reach out to someone else within the the space or the community to get guidance or help or maybe that extra little push because i think so. Many people also have that in common <hes> for sure. I think something else that internally motivating yourself and doing it for you. Allows you to do is block out the noise so like for example i have. I guess we have a dream for detour. I want it to be a daily show. At some point i really do and but could we do that right now. Yes we could publish episode every day but we don't have enough valuable content to really fill that out at this point like if i go and share that with somebody if it's the wrong person they can probably talk me out of that at this point and so i think that you had to be so careful of is what noise that you let in and be very cognizant of that that if you share your dream with the wrong person they can twist it in deflate it and steer you off in a different print direction you know ideally you have the self control in the self confidence to push through that i know i don't personally and so i think it's is just a self-awareness type thing as true. I think that's a big obviously. That's something that a lot of people face but i think it just. Didn't you think in disney new movies you see that a lot. You know like tangled. She wants to go out. She wants to enjoy her life and her. Mom's like no so so. I i do think there's a lot of value in you know seeking just the right people to talk to and luckily you lose that person for colin we have those people that we enjoy talking to in sharing our planes within people who build it up rather than tear down even if it's not a perfect idea you know there's definitely a way to hash out those details without shutting down completely yeah yeah i mean i think that is an important note that you should always be open for constructive criticism like you want someone to poke holes in your idea before you take it public so that you can work those kinks out but if there's a difference between constructive criticism and helping you mold it and create create something that's valuable and jealousy or just negatively.

"I wanna say carlin elliot but just because we love them so much and you got to cry yet so heartbreaking the whole that whole scene so the next one if you could be best friends with any disney character who would it be doug. He'd be the best dog ever sidekick. He's a good pal. I'd say doug or balu. That's another good one. I like those so. I actually came up with two also so naturally i have to say genie. He's the best friend ever ever. He's so loyal he's supported even if he didn't come with wishes i mean he's just he's the man the second one i came up was just because i think her personality liquor character is just hilarious. I think we'd get along would be frozen. She's just so. I mean reminds me a lot of my sister. In obviously we get along great but i think she'd just be real funny. She's kind of awkward and just like does her own thing and she's kind of out of touch with reality. There's now like now that we're discussing. There's so many different ones that you can come up with like you could say tiana because you wanna eat her food as well. That's true yeah she can cook for you been yeas and saint gun gumbo. She'd she'd be like a good roommate. Like who would you want your roommate to be like cinderella because she would clean the place. There's some good ones there. What about is very marvel characters that you think you'd be britain's. Westhead wanted to be best friends with <hes> i mean fhu i'd say ant man i think i honestly think eight-man might be aunt manner. Star lord are the funniest characters in the entire e._m._c. You pretty funny. I mean i would just wanna say captain america because i just love him. You want to be best friends or boyfriend and girlfriend. Oh i know he has his. You can't get in the middle betsy. This is what's going to make me cry. That's the best couple to can't miss asa he'd be. He'd be a good friend so very last question that we have is. Who is your favorite disney sidekick. Who's your i have to go moose shoe. He is so funny. He's the best. 'mushie is a very good one. What's yours mucci was on that. I came to mind for me as well <hes> but like would balu be considered a sidekick. I don't know though because i mean would you say that he's mobley's sidekick. I don't know russia is a good sidekick. Sidekick muscles inside cake <hes> groupie side kick is does he think main character well. It's kind of like he's the same as russell like he's part of the main group. Yeah that's true great would be fun though <unk> michio yeah so that is going to be for these questions. This episode went way log than i thought it was going to but honestly thank you guys so much for being part of this first year of detour tonight land. "Again. That's report the magic dot com forward slash detour or hit that link in our show nuts so so we are back. We have a couple of questions in place that we will both answer for these so the first one relevant to the times. I'm sure all the listeners listeners if you're listening to this as it released d twenty three just wrapped up this past weekend. What are you most excited about that came out of d twenty three. Oh let's think so. I mean it can be anything right. It's not it's not specific <hes> i. I think what i'm most excited about what i was probably the most surprised to hear and even the <hes> the presentation was it's pretty high when we watched it. I'm excited for this cherry tree lane in the u._k. Pavilion and i know that that probably seems really small but just knowing that that was like my dad's favorite movie and i mean and it still is his favorite movie. I think he'll just really enjoy it and i think i know when we go. See it with him like you know he'll just slide up and he'll be excited. Just like the other day we were talking about going to star are words land and i probably shouldn't call it that he was excited about going back to delicacies edge whatever and his face lit up so. I know it'll be the same thing again going there so i'm excited about that. I'm interested to see if it's just like a walk through experience or is it an actual ride. I feel like it could be a cool ride yeah but they call it an attraction and i almost feel like that means. It's probably an experience like eulogised. Walk walk through the house or just like cherry tree lane. We'll just like the just modify. Some of those buildings look like caitlin well. I guess i'm hoping i'm hoping for more. I'm hoping that there's something something that goes with it but i still think it's cool for me. See you guys know i'm a parks forward person parks over movies as far as where i get the most inspiration and the most joy out of it however this is one of those times it's actually the movies that have piqued my interest the most of course i'm over the moon about disney plus us so many different topics that you can talk about you. Lit up wanting to change your answer. No but you said disney plus n lizzy mcguire is coming back back so i'm internally screaming until i get to watch it so that's that's at the top of the list continue. You should create a new podcast has just over lizzie mcguire and my biggest lizzy mcguire fan ever biggest lizzie mcguire hilary def jam the they're like tied for. It's the same person thin. Lizzy mcguire is hilary duff same person anyway disney blah. We'll be subscribing from day one but the rise of skywalker. I cannot wait to see that movie. I'm surprised. I thought you were a little skeptical. I was blessed yet. I left a very bad taste in my mouth. He didn't like it. I did not like it but it i liked the force awakens awakens a lot better but this whole idea of israel good or bad is kylo good or bad are they. Neither are they in the middle. I am so intrigued by that. How does palpitation playing this. I mean there are so many questions that we need answers. I almost feel like it's is the same level of excitement for me is in game was okay. That's a pretty big statement eight mint yeah if i had to just narrow it down to one parks thing that avengers area in d._c._a. C._a. is top of my list and then that'll be so cool. It just makes me sad that we don't get to go out there and experience it as often often. I wish they were doing something like that in disneyworld as well because obviously that's where we spend most of our time mm-hmm well. We're just gonna go to universal and go to their marvel stuff. Shut your mouth moving on the next one. What character do you want to meet the most that we haven't already. You could probably answer this one for me. Danger yourself rescue rangers <hes> yeah. I probably could guess that that's a good one. If it's someone who's not as rare as them another one that's still really rare ear but he comes out. Sometimes it's muccio <hes> or max goof those so you have quite a few. Do you have a list going right now. <hes> that made me think a lot those 'cause i. I was gonna say something completely different sprint but now i just changed my mind the one that you were thinking not this one's much better. I wanna meet lawn as ping. I was gonna say mwana. We've never met mwana but i feel like with all the new things that are coming in the milwaukee stuff in epcot. That's coming. Surely she'll be out more often. 'cause i feel like she's still pretty rare to see out in about you rent yeah but she'll be a nas scary. When we're there in october i know but she was last year to in the line was crazy. So moana or milan is paying. Maybe for for disney the princess run weekend. Maybe so the next question that we have was what movie or character do you think deserves serves and attraction who that one is a really hard one. I think i mean i love so up comes to mind but i don't know if that would be a good attraction some trying to think of something like more thrilling. You know i mean i just like up but i don't know what you could do with it. Come back to me mine would be i mean it's still this from the internet. People talk about not at all time an ema and cronk roller coaster. We were just talking about that the other day. Actually it's already in the movie. It would be so easy to adapt that into a real roller coaster yeah i would. I would love just any kind of roller coaster anything else that they could make into a roller coaster after i think would be awesome. I can't really think of what that would be at the moment but i'm pro rollercoaster sorry. I can't really answer that one. That was a hard one so that was your answer. I guess i don't know i can't come up with anything else on the spot. Okay okay next one is what's the worst thing you've ever eaten in a disney park so so the the biggest one that comes to mind from this summer and it's actually kind of a two in one and and i don't know if i want to say it was like the worst thing i've ever eight but it was the biggest disappointment so we went to the incredible 's area <hes> with the dance party and they had the car and we loved loved the jack jack cookie nam nam and d._c._a. Hated it in disneyworld. It was awful and then the like the frozen slush that we got there too was just terrible all so i think they looked so pretty so instagram abol and blah blah blah blah blah but i was so underwhelmed and disappointed when i ate it. I didn't even think about that one. That was very sad to eat. It probably spent like close to twenty dollars on those two things things and trashed him if anybody else has had both of the jet cookies i maybe we just got a bad batch but like you had to eat the one in d._c. With fork because it was so gooey and just perfect the one in hollywood studios was a frisbee bread. Yeah you could have tossed that thing and it would have stayed completely. I think the incredible used as weapons or or something my answer again. We've talked about this before if friends adrian sean are listening. We're sorry but those buffalo chicken chicken chips that we got an animal kingdom it was our fault for not reading the description but they were smothered in blue cheese and there are a few you things i hate more than blue cheese on this planet yeah. That was definitely a mistake on our part but they were gross. We couldn't eat them but my sister. We gave them to her because she is a blue cheese fan and she loved them so if blue cheese doesn't bother you. It would probably be a good snack next one one would be. What does he couple. Do you think we are most alike. I'm gonna say mulan and shang mostly because i can totally kick your butt no but i think i think they're good couple. I don't think think like us okay so so this is our ten year. We reflect on us being together for ten years k. It wasn't like love at first site right. I kind of avoided you for a little while at first so it's not like love at first sight but they quickly realized that they worked better together and they depend on each other and they both just they need each other in their lives so i think it's a good one early on. Do you have more than one well so i also thought maybe like tiana intervene just because because they do both end up like believing in hard work and evine is very supportive of tiana and her dreams and her goals and i think you're very supportive of everything that i want to accomplish you know in every avenue so i think that would be another good one. Could we almost like gender swap on that one though like you be navene an i._v. T._r. We could yeah 'cause. I could see that okay. We'll go with that then i have to. I one sounds bad but it's not as bad as it sounds. Okay hercules and meg meg okay. I don't think you're working with the devil with the lord of the underworld but i do think thank hercules. I'm i like to think of myself. Somewhat similar of hercules is like i know that i have this higher calling and i'm trying to live up to that and trying to reach it and have lofty goals sort of out of touch with reality and meg is there and supportive in her own way. Okay okay pretty cynical. Vets find sarcastic as well so just run you. You're lucky you get to see my good humor. The other one i thought of was buzz and jessie. I don't know if is there an official couple. I kind of you as they are but sort of thing like buzzes out of touch with reality and jesse still supports him anyway follow his crazy craziness. Yeah i see that okay. Follow is not the right word not follows his craziness but sports awards as their teammates. They definitely work well together. I was hard to answer. It was kind of hard to answer. I wanna say carlin elliot but just because we love them so much and you got to cry yet so heartbreaking the whole.

"Like the idea of going to like a cocktail hour or something and making business connections. Whoa is my worst nightmare in a situation like that but i think put an especially this setting where everybody buddy. He loves disney. Everybody here like has that similar passion. It has allowed me to make so many more connections than i ever thought imaginable yeah i think just being in this space and doing what we do like getting to talk to so many people you know it would be really easy for it to just be like one interview and then okay. Thanks for your time and then moving on but really everyone that we talked to like. We have <unk> a genuine interest in afterwards like we meet up with a lot of people and we have some really good friends that we you know like legitimately enjoy hanging out with and that's definitely something that i don't think we either one of us anticipated coming from this yeah. I kinda thought it would be so transactional like hey. You're gonna come onto an episode with us and then we'll be done with it. In some guests are that way and that is perfectly fine like we don't have an ongoing relationship but some of those people you just know that you're on the same wavelength and you will get along with them going forward in those are invaluable able like we could stop today in those relationships that we've created are the most important thing to us yeah for sure so my my last one <hes> is just that i've learned that it's not no i would not it is okay to not have everything figured out <hes> i think there've been so many times where brendan in particular will have an idea and you know we both think it's a great idea and we're not really sure how to make it work or how to put all the pieces together but eventually we do or if we can't do it ourselves than you know through the connections that we've made with people like others can help us and i think it's just kind of proven even that everything works out you know like mind over matter all those good warm fuzzy feelings. You know like if you have like a dream can come true. I don't know brandon made a weird face at that so i just think it will work out aw a lot of it has to do with just hard work but you don't always have to have it figured out when he start yeah i mean it goes back to waltzing the the best way to get started to stop talking and begin. Doing i think that's something that we had to practice a lot on because look the premise of our show that we can help you grow your disney project. We haven't even grown to the level that we would want. You know so oh there's almost we we almost have that. I don't know like are we legitimate feeling sometimes but we're never going to get to that point if we have if we don't go through this process of trying to grow and trying to get our footing and get our show in place us to genuinely start helping people yeah. I think that makes a lot of sense and i think the biggest thing is. You just can't be scared tired of not knowing even though it's challenging. It's a good a good type of challenge yeah so that is is it for our lessons. Hopefully they help you guys with your projects course as we go forward. I'm sure these will change and we will unlock new things that are hopefully hopefully the keys to our success. Let's take a quick break in here. In a message from our partners and then we'll be back to play are.

"Your hobby business. Here's your host brendan and catherine. Welcome back to detour in every way today is episode number one hundred and thirty today today as you might have noticed by the title we are celebrating one year of detour to neverland. It's our first birthday. Hey we need a we need cake like a smash cake and everything to celebrate this on our next trip in october. We will get a cake and celebrate okay i'm holding to we've never been to that amarat's place in in disney springs. I really wanna go there. Let's go okay. It's settled so thank you guys for joining us today. We are so excited to have you with us. We're going to take the the first few moments of this episode is just reflect a little bit then we're going to share our top three lessons that each of us have have learned through the podcast of being content creators and trying to get our footing in gained some traction here with detour and then we're going to end it with some <hes> like a modified fast pass around so we'll be asking questions to each other just to have some fun and just for fun because then fact act today is detours when your university but this is also yesterday was also our ten year your date adversary. Isn't that crazy yup so earlier this month. We've been married for three years but then ten years ago a a little boy asked out neil you you said yes so. It was very romantic. It was on my parents couch and i don't know if you remember that moment <hes> so it's been a fun journey. This is probably been the funnest venture we've ever been on. Is that fair to say. I'd say so i mean i definitely think is giving us a lot of opportunity to try something new. I can ten thousand percent said. I never thought i would do this. I never thought i would do a podcast. 'cause i'm not a big podcast listener honestly i i just don't have a lot of time or drive time to listen to podcasts <hes>. I definitely never thought i'd be part of the disney community. Even though i'm a big disney fan. I just never saw myself fitting into that role either so i guess. I never thought that i'd be doing anything with you because we've mentioned before. Sometimes we're not the best of working buddies yeah when i was your boss just didn't work well moving on next. Thanks comment. Probably the issue is that i wasn't actually exactly so just to kind of set the stage i wanna throw some numbers numbers out to catherine obviously a hundred and thirty episodes. It's a big number which is insane. We started out doing being twice a week. They went to three times a week. They went back to twice a week and now we're doing three times a week again. We changed the format up over the time time. We've kind of shifted a little bit. You know we've got all kinds of things that have changed within a year. It's flown by but i also recognize how how much we've grown in that year. I agree i mean i think and the grand scheme of things a year is going to seem so small you know after we keep doing this for a lot more years but a lot has happened in three hundred sixty five days for us so as it currently sits twenty six thousand downloads and counting which is an insane number. I know some podcasts that in one episode but that that is it's exciting for us. It is very exciting for us because we've had steady growth ever since we beginning so that's just like an affirmation that what what we're doing at least make sense to some people make sense to us right. That's all that matters yup so yeah. I mean that's just pretty crazy to me. Hey that we've put out that many episodes and they've been listened to that many times so let's go ahead and jump into both of us wrote down are three most important lessons that we have learned from doing this for a year now so some people might argue that you haven't been doing it for year but you've were helping me out behind the scenes before you even joined that the on the episodes i mean that's true yeah i mean even before i decided to be the co hosts just like kind of on a whim <hes> i've been here through it. All i've seen e started. All we've always kinda bounced the ideas off of each other so at the beginning i guess i was more of a silent kind of background partner even just to listen to all your crazy ideas but but here we are now together so i guess maybe maybe i have like. I want to say a whole year. We'll see we'll get started so i'll started out. I'll share my first lesson that i think i've learned throughout this shear and something that we talked about a lot on the podcast but to me it is to be open and what i mean by that. It is being authentic but also sharing your story including your struggles your victories. Which is something something we're big on. You know celebrating whenever you do have a win no matter how big or small but those struggles struggles in showing that vulnerability ability i think have really been an asset to us as we've grown yeah and i'd say is definitely easier to share the victor is but i think in just talking to other people and in the disney community that everybody has those struggles amin nothing the thing about starting something new jumping into the space is going to be perfect so it doesn't really do yourself or anyone else you know a service service if you just pretend like none of those things that were happened because that's where you learned the most is through the struggle and in honor of being open or in respect of being open. It's something that i struggle with to a certain extent. I don't know if you guys know oh this about me catherine. Does i allow times. Don't take advice the way that i should. I work very very hard on on it but sometimes when we receive advice i feel like people are pointing out flaws and i and i struggle to do that so whenever you open yourself up and you share failures struggles that you've had it puts me. I have to get myself into the right mindset to be able to do something like ago. Yeah i think that makes sense because i mean obviously anyone it's hard to like accept critique or i don't say necessarily criticism but it's hard to hear those things when he just put so much time and effort into something and it's something that we heard a lot when we you were going to the nashville entrepreneurship center but you really need to allow yourself to be open to those things because you sit with it any you love it and it's your baby or your project and you think it's perfect so when someone else pointed out it's hard to hear that end. It's even harder to it. Make the changes that need to be made so that's my first one. I kept from short years. I can see your list years much longer than mine so well. I just elaborated a little more. 'cause you elaborate talking i have i like to write it down but my first one is pretty similar to be open but i kind of took it in a different context so like just be open. <hes> the challenges are embrace challenge because i feel like my whole life. I've been pretty scared. A failure like i'd rather just do like the easier thing and know that i'm going to be successful will then try something really hard and fail and i know that that's not necessarily the best mindset to have all the time but my whole life you know it's it's made me at least feel like i was like not the smartest but you know you know what i'm sayin then yeah like. I'm doing the best at what i can do but it's because i'm always doing what comes naturally easy to me anyway. Yes so you put yourself into safe environments where you're not prone to failure which i think is a natural human thing and i do that to a certain certain extent as well. I mean in that kind of goes back to the like you said it's it's kind of being open and being vulnerable and being being accepting the possibility of failure yeah which is so hard to do especially for us taipei personality type people you know the aside. Everybody says i'm a type a. person. Does anybody ever say the experts and i'm a type person. I don't know that would be funny. He is someone did i wouldn't even know what the difference between taipei in tight be is just like someone like my sister would be tight. Be just like go with the flow you. I'm here for a good time and follow your heart kind of stuff but i don't think they would ever be like oh. I'm type b because is that a thing thing i mean. I don't know that's my question for. Everybody knows the answer to that. Let us know so my number. Two is it's something that sounds simple and speech but hard and practice. It is to be consistent there to me. See that's twofold. You have to be consistent in your schedule and like when you release things so if you're especially if you're on the content content side of things but also products as well like if you say you're gonna come out with a new product every month. Do it same thing for us that if you're in content content in you have a schedule of when you release things i think it is so important to stick to that and not fall into a cycle all of our release things when it's convenient because i think that's a very slippery slope that you can go down angry so you know a lot of people probably the number one question we get asked. How do we put out three episodes per week and honestly it's just because we say that we will but it's also the second part of that equation is being consistent in your quality so you can't let you know just because you have to meet a deadline. Let your quality slip yet to have your certain standards standards but meet the schedule that you've put in place. I see that i think for us. It's it's all about like brennan said we don't really give ourselves the option to not you know put out these three episodes we made that decision and it was a hard a decision because it does take more time it takes more like content creation on our part where we have to sit down basically basically all day on sunday and work on things but if you can be consistent in the time that you put aside then you can be consistent in the products that you release. What's your number two so my number two again. I feel like a lot of these kind of go. <hes> with my personality which i guess makes sense for lessons learned but my number two is just not to take myself too seriously so i feel like again. I've always been very hesitant about sharing my opinion or or putting myself out there or just whatever because i want everything to look a certain way i want to be in control of everything basically but coming on the podcast and just having mean brendan sit here and talk or when we talked to other people <hes> you kind live just have to go at the flow sometimes and not everything is going to be picture perfect and the other. I guess what what last week you did like the live of you doing the intro the recording we try that so many times before we actually get it the way that we want it <hes> and sometimes we just have to laugh and not take it so seriously and remember to have fun with it. Yeah i think that's probably the most important part of what you said is how fun and that's easy parks disney. My i number three is to make connections. I will be the first person to say the word. Networking networking makes my skin crawl like the idea of going to like a cocktail hour or something and making business connections. Whoa is my worst.

"Welcome back to detour to neverland. Today is episode number one hundred and twenty before we get into today's topic we wanted to mention that we sent out another newsletter this morning so it is really an effort to try to give you something in your inbox. That's gonna give you inspiration share some strategy with you also linked to our blog post catherine. I are writing each week. Had what is your topic this week. The topic this week is focused on leo and stitch current if that idea of ohana and especially since i just started school backup gab. It's almost been a whole week. Since i've been back <hes> it's kind of focusing on like not leaving others behind or being left out and different. Things like that too excited to read that one. I am writing about how to follow your purpose so hopefully you guys will enjoy those. If you want to catch up on on any upcoming newsletters you can go to detour to neverland dot com forward slash newsletter and you can read those bog <unk> blog posts by going to detour to neverland dot com yes so today's episode we are focusing on lessons that we learned from leeann stephens episode on monday monday mostly on developing a routine to achieve consistency which is something that we are always striving in working towards and trying to improve. I'm not sure if you guys feel the same way but if you remember from their episode routines teens are really vital for them to be successful every day especially because they both have the privilege of working from home <hes> and they both have to juggle a lot of different something's going on in their lives and being parents so routines are important for us yeah for sure so they talked about it in the context of a morning routine which i know there's so much discussion there <hes> something catherine i are working on. If you're familiar with this we are not morning people whatsoever ever however we have started trying to get up earlier to take the dogs on a walk before we go to work so that's been a step in the right direction yeah we we have. We have goals for our mornings. Obviously we are working at meeting those goals every day but really we want to just be so frantic every day. When we try to get out the door so like catherine said routines or something we have historically struggled with. We we kind of get things done but it's kind of at our own pace and at different times from week to week or even from day today so it's been important for us to try implement something so a new thing that we've been working on is every single sunday night we sit down for the past three weeks and we've been trying to sit down and plan on out the week ahead and get as much work done in that sitting so that we don't have to throughout the week yeah because when we don't do on sunday then we stay up really late on the weekdays and it's kind of frantic and it's really stressful especially when we're trying to get things pushed out for the next day so what the sunday meetings look like for us right now so so we have just a little agenda that we go through and it's really what we want to accomplish <hes> so i pulled up right now so we have five things that we try to accomplish within this meeting one is plan our mini episodes in talking points so what you're listening to right right now is developed in a sunday meeting <hes> so we played out wednesday and fridays episodes then we talk about promo so for the week so that something we're still twain with at one point. We were going to try to make i g. T. v. videos dropped those on sundays. I don't know now if you guys have any tips video police in them our way we can just like never feel comfortable doing it. Yeah and i know advice that we've i've heard before especially from our blogger friends that we've talked to you. You know they just say the more the more comfortable eating feel and maybe that's true. Maybe we just haven't given it enough halftime but i guess just our personalities were very analytical so it's like every little thing that we do that. We say we you just kind of think back and obsess over it and something that might be a three minute video takes us like thirty minutes to record almost like a double ledge sword because we need to be relaxed and just chat naturally but it's almost like we need a script but if we'd get a script we're going to be robotic so it's like where is the happy medium between i mean i guess it's bullet points but even that has been a struggle for us yeah so it's definitely something that were working on yep so the next one on our to do list is we plan out all of our social media posts so that has been really helpful for us so that we can kind of create a narrative throughout our post throughout the week so they're not just kind of a hodgepodge of random ideas at least trying to stick with the ideas that we're talking about in the weeks episodes and kind of going along those same themes and it allows us to you instead of worrying about that post so much during the day we just kind of automated you know where it will the post it real quick and then we can spend more time on actually talking to the people in the community that we enjoy talking to so number four. We make questions for the interviews that we have upcoming this week so at the time of this recording. We have two interviews coming up so we've prepped for both of those. Were you gonna say well. We actually actually did one already but that's fine. Well yeah if you're time travelling okay why so anyway. That's what we do you in that meeting. As we sit down we try to research are upcoming guest as much as humanly possible get to know every single detail about them. Don't let that scare you. If you're a that sounds really creepy mobile every detail that we'd like to plan ahead. We like to know obviously what our guests do before we talk to them because it makes for a better interview but it is sort of one of those things that you don't want to know too much where you're like trying to lead them into answers. Yeah like anticipate what they're going to say yeah so there's a happy medium there and i think we've found it so <hes> and then the last thing we do is we planner newsletter so i'm not gonna promo that or push that on you guys anymore but that is one thing that we try to knock out on sunday so we don't have to do it throughout the week so really what that routine has helped us to do is achieve consistency and take so much of the workload workload off throughout the week and relieve a lot of stress yeah because if you are waiting until the last minute like we've done pretty much for a year her because it's once again august this is around beneath started detour so it's taken us a while to reach that point where we recognized. Hey there's probably an easier way to do this. Hopefully it doesn't it doesn't take those people a year but i guess it's better late than never yup so we kind of eluded to it but i think the next point that i want to make is that routines lead to consistency and inconsistency consistency leads to success so how many of our guest i would say it probably over fifty percent mentioned consistency is key to success. I mean i think that knowing having your audience know what to expect from you and you deliver. You're on a consistent basis is so important like i know of all the newsletters i sign up. I have a loose idea my head of which days each of those delivered to my inbox and i would notice if one missed and that's not to say you can never take a week off. Actually we just missed. This has fridays ever said so we apologize if you expected a episode from us last friday that was just one of those things like we weren't in the mindset to produce a good episode yeah and i. I think that's important too. I mean consistency doesn't mean you absolutely have to kill yourself just because that's what someone else expects from you <hes> because because i mean last week was just a crazy week. We both had to travel back to school. I attended a funeral. I mean it was just just a week. It was just one of those weeks so i think it's good to always kind of keep you and your mental health a priority and in just know like everyone understands if you aren't consistent because we're all human you know i definitely like i did not go through as much much emotional term tormo because i did not go to a funeral however i did go to atlanta. That's kind of like my personal. Uh-huh insert worker driving through atlanta is absolutely the worst. I went through some stuff. Too is what i'm trying to say but it kind of leads in to our next point that we wanted to make is that it's important to set up your your routines to accommodate your lifestyle and your kind of what you want to accomplish because like if we tried to set up routines teens that we were going to write blog post in the morning it would never get done. Yes so when you think about your teens i do. You think it's important to try to set yourself up for success. Obviously if that's something that we wanted to work towards in the future that would be something to do over time like after we we are hopefully become magically become warning people but to start a new routine and just try to slide something thing like that into your routine is probably pretty unrealistic yeah so and then sticking with time. I think he's important to not be too rigid with your schedule so like we have. I think it's two hours blocked out for our sunday meetings of when we accomplish push things but a lot of it is conversation like hey. What are you have going on today. Here's what i have going on. You know here's when we plan to eat dinner. How can we fit this percents. So you know this past sunday. We actually squeeze it in before it actually showed up on our calendar and then we have that time to focus on other things enj- yeah so i think just having your priorities in line is a good first step to i mean being realistic but then you also have to know what what things you need to get done and how that can actually work with whatever it is that you're doing for that day. Yep yep and take along. Those same lines is think about what you want the output to be and what you want to what goals are associated with putting the scrutiny in place in work back for <unk> backwards from there. That's where you can start seeing the results and you sit down and you knock a couple of things off your to do list list then you are setting yourself up for success because you can use that extra time to develop new connections or explore something new whatever it might be you. You just have something else off of your plate. Yeah i totally agree to anything else. You wanna add on this part of it. I don't think so i just i think it's important and even like when you think about kids and stuff like everyone functions so much better better on a routine like it's just one of those things that i think as adult sometimes we let go but i think it's just one of those staples of life. When you're when you we know what to expect and you have a routine dysfunction better yeah it makes me think about because i know we have some other young adults that are sort of near the same age as us that that listen to this. It's like you you leave high school where you're on such a solid routine you go to college and you lose all of it because you finally only have that freedom and like trying to grasp that back once you enter adulthood is a struggle. It's been a big show for us. Yeah it's hard. It's definitely hard so let's take a quick.
