"Not only did Johnson very nearly leave the blue wall intact for Democrats in 2016, he also took states out of play that might have been toss ups in Colorado, for example, Trump lost by 3.6 percentage points. Gary Johnson got 4.7 percentage points. In Nevada, Trump lost by 2.7 percentage points, and Johnson got to 2.3 .1%. In the 2020 election, it is possible that Joe Jorgensen, the libertarian candidate. Through the election to Biden in the 6 states where Trump was reported to have lost by the thinnest of margins, the impact of the libertarian candidate either flipped the election to Biden or very nearly did. Well. Well, that's the story, let me feel good about me, I am pure, the Republican Party is not pure. That's the story with the never Trump of conservatives. The preoccupied with Trump's character as they understand it to be flawed. Instead of the battle against the left, why did the left wind, because of foolish conservatives? That's why. Libertarians, when they vote libertarian, they are handing a vote they are taking a vote away from the party, that does not believe that children should be sexualized at the age of 5. How does the libertarian defend that morally? I am enabling the party. That says that there aren't boys and girls in schools just students. That's the party I enable when I vote libertarian. How do you sleep well at night? The answer is the ability of the human being to dull his conscience is infinite. That is the answer. So all I could do is point it out. Senate Candidate Adam Laxalt Calls In From the Nevada Campaign Trail

"A great race. How does it feel on the ground in Nevada? Yeah, look, I think we've been the most consistent campaign, and we've been at this since last August. And all our hard work is coming to fruition here in the close. No one is on the ground more than I am. No Republican candidate certainly not my Democrat opponent is in every single county in all of these communities. And the enthusiasm is off the charts. And despite the fact that senator masto and her leftist allies have spent gazillions of dollars attacking me. Starting in June, all the way through, it's just hardening our people. Our people are furious. They know these commercials are lies. And as you just reported, Charlie, I mean, yesterday was the 6th consecutive poll with us ahead in this narrow swing state. Which doesn't mean we're going to take our foot off the gas, you know? We got to charge this thing. They just put in more money. She just put out that she raised $15 million in the third quarter, as I'm sure you cover a lot, the Democrats are the party or the rich now. They've got unlimited money to try to buy these races, but we feel like we're exactly where we need to be. Post Labor Day, that's when we started spending and our allies started spending. And I think this is when people are paying attention. I think that they're getting to see who she is. They're understanding that, you know, unlike Joe Biden telling everybody that gas is under $3 and all 50 states, guess what? It's 5 80 here right now. And climbing, by the way. That is the greatest lex salt commercial, right? Advertisement is 5 80 gas in Clark county. It's unbelievable.

Parents Are Key to Nevada Election

"Let's conclude by talking about education. Teachers unions are throwing a lot of money around the United States always for Democrats. I don't know if they're on masto side. But to parents, are they going to reject school boards that kept their kids master away from school, come the day of election? I don't think parents have forgotten what the Democrats did with the support of senator masto. They shut our schools down, we never needed to shed our schools down. You had single Hispanic moms trying to work at a job and deal with homeschooling, zooms, it was simply unworkable. As parents started listening into these to their schools, they started realizing that our educators were teaching kids to hate America and to hate each other. These are things I don't think anybody was happy about. You definitely saw a lot of the school board activity here. In fact, I visited a school board and you just could not believe the intensity of this issue. And then we can't forget what Garland did with going after parents.

When COVID hit and everything shut down, Nevada is so dependent on people bringing their money there and enjoying themselves. Then along comes inflation, people can't drive because gas costs too much over from California they're not playing. Nevada's economy done it or Joe Biden. Look, you can not believe what's happened here. The shutdowns crush Nevada's economy killed us more than any state in the union and as you report all of these inflation numbers of 8% across the country. We're at almost 16% today. And rather than voting against the new inflation spending bill and sparing our citizens of more inflation, she of course is a rubber stamp for it. Gave us more spending, giving us more inflation. "Republicans can win Senate races in Nevada. I believe his name was dean Heller recently. Was a senator from Nevada. An Adam laxalt is shocking the world Nevada has all of a sudden become this sleeper race where Democrats are almost beginning to expect a loss in the state of Nevada. So there's a couple things happening in Nevada. Number one, governor sisolak is one of the worst governors in America. He's a Democrat governor. And he has a lot of resentment brewing in Nevada because of how he inappropriately locked down the casino and gaming industry, how he went full Gestapo a lot of people lost their jobs. A lot of people lost their livelihoods, a lot of people never got back to where they were. There is serious financial misery that is all over Clark county. All over Clark county, ollo and Clark county's the biggest county in Nevada. And so the gaming industry in particular was just destroyed by Sicily, which is a massive amount of jobs now, you know, casino gambling might not be your thing. That's not the point. The point is that it's an economic engine and there's so many other things, so many other industries that are supported outside of just not casino gaming. Restaurants, entertainment shows, plays, all sorts of different things. Sporting events, conventions, a lot of stuff happens in Vegas outside of just the stereotypical stuff, which is this, by the way, to very depraved place in certain sense. But so is every American city. And I think there's some wonderful people in Vegas, and I know them, and I have dear Friends there. But they destroy that industry inappropriately unnecessarily. That's number one. Number two, Nevada has seen a significant increase in out of state people coming from California. And a lot of them have been Republicans. A lot of them are not necessarily coming to Nevada just to go vote for Democrats. A lot of that growth has been in the Lake Tahoe area or the Reno area or an especially in the Vegas area, the summit area.

Democrats Get Nervous As Polls Trend Upwards for Republicans

"Democrats are getting increasingly nervous. Remember politics is not just about what happens at one moment in time. It is a trajectory. It is a pattern of events that leads to a culminating or a culmination, a culminating event in early November. Right now there is a trendline that is very disturbing for the Democrat party. It seemed they got very, very hot over the summer and now the new polls that are coming out, which I know a lot of people say Charlie, I don't trust the polls. Well, these are polling. This is polling from liberal firms that are showing some Republicans starting to get separation speed. And we're seeing it on the ground in real time. Emerson has Ron Johnson up four points in the great state of Wisconsin. We were just there for our turning point action event in Green Bay, Wisconsin. In Georgia, which is a flip Herschel Walker up two points on Raphael Warnock. In Texas, Greg Abbott up 11 points on Robert Francis o'rourke. The latest poll out of Arizona shows Carrie Lake up four points on Katie hopps. And the trend continues. And the pattern of polling that we are seeing is Democrats. Are going down dramatically. Now, we are seeing this and we should celebrate this in the moment, but wait a second. This is not the election. This is not the entire ball game. The question is, with the trend improving with the gap tightening, Democrats are now going to become very, very desperate. If, for example, it is true that Herschel Walker wins in Georgia. If it is true, that Ron Johnson will win in Wisconsin. If it is true, that Adam laxalt wins in Nevada. Even with that, even with Blake masters and Oz not making it across the finish line, which I think they will, it's a Republican Senate.

You see the parents party that is rising up in my personal opinion is gaining steam. I know there was a lot of anxiety out there myself included over the summer about the midterm elections. Now remember this before you get discouraged by the media coverage of all the success that Biden seems to be enjoying. Yeah, some success. If Republicans hang on in Wisconsin and hold the Trump states, we only need to win two of the 6 battlegrounds. Pennsylvania, Nevada, Georgia, New Hampshire, Arizona, or Colorado. Charlie Pierce: The Only Way to Deal With Polls Is to Ignore Them

"So what do you make of all this latest Donald pollings and blah blah blah? Who is it, Nate Cohn talking about like, oh, there's warning signals flashing again for Democrats. How about why are there warning signals? I guess because a lot of the polling is good for Democrats, but they're saying because of the margin of error and well, no, I mean, I think the only real answer is to put your head down and run through the finish line. Yes. Yes. I know. That's the thing is I almost don't want people to about what's their name Gretchen Whitmer up in Michigan. Right. She's got a solid 13 point lead. It's been a 13 point lead for months now, and she's running just as hard as she ever did. That's all you can do. You can't do anything else. Right. Well, yeah, New York Times polling guru in, yes, the warning signs are flashing again, paints an ominous picture for Democrats and key Senate races in Ohio, Georgia, Nevada, Wisconsin, and Florida. Democratic Senate candidates are outrunning expectations in the same places where the polls overestimated Biden in 2020 in Clinton in 2016. That's what they're talking about. The possibility. That to me is like, it's like bull worshiping. You got it wrong in 2016 for watch out. You might get it wrong. I know. Well, this is what he said, the possibility that the apparent democratic strength in Wisconsin elsewhere is a mirage and artifact of persistent and unaddressed biases in survey research. Yes. So but that's what we're saying is even the Warnock race. So the fact that it's even close is just well, I mean, that's very real. I mean, that's very alarming. Yeah. But you know, again, the only way to approach it is to not pay attention.

Over at The New York Times, they shout out their newsletter, our Democrats again about to be disappointed by overly optimistic polling, they point out that in 2020, the polls reported that Biden had a lead in North Carolina, but of course he lost North Carolina. The polls showed Biden comfortably ahead in Wisconsin, yet he won it by less than a percentage point in Ohio, the polls pointed to a tight race instead Trump won Ohio easily.

"We will never know what happened to the nevada. Once the vessel departed skagway ship had little going in its favor. It was well past its prime. And according to those with knowledge of the vessel the claritin nevada should have been scrapped instead of carrying passengers across the rough waters of alaska in the winter. The captain lacked skillet running the vessel as demonstrated by his poor docking abilities and the unqualified often. Inebriated crew could provide little assistance. In the case of an emergency the worst decision captain lewis made though was to depart skagway in the middle of a storm producing hurricane force winds even large ships holed up in such weather so it remains a mystery why lewis thought the rickety old clara nevada could handle heavy seas and high winds. No one knows how. Many people sailed from skagway on the clare nevada and the only passenger list presumably went down with the ship reports of the number of passengers on board the ill-fated vessel very between twenty five and one hundred and fifty alaska has been steve lebai has extensively researched the sinking of the clara nevada and most consider him the leading expert on the ship in his book. The clara nevada gold greed murder and alaska's inside passage levi estimates approximately fifty seven passengers boarded the clara nevada in skagway and the ship carried a crew of thirty several sources reported that the clara nevada steamed south from skagway carrying one hundred and sixty five thousand dollars in raw gold estimated at over thirteen million dollars today. The gold belong to one. Or more prospectors on the ship and levi makes the point it would likely have been in the form of gold dust if we believe undocumented but numerous eyewitness reports that a dilapidated ship with a dubious crew carried a small fortune in gold and a load of dynamite when it steamed out into a violent storm in the fridge and north pacific. This premise would make an excellent opening for novel but the plot thickens and with the help of frequent articles in the to seattle newspapers. The legend of the disaster of the clare nevada grew daily on the afternoon of february. Sixth eighteen ninety eight. The ss clara nevada departed skagway in a roaring storm with hurricane force winds out of the north when the ship passed through burner bay near eldred rock about thirty miles or forty eight point. Three kilometers south of skagway it round ground on eldred rock a witness eight miles or twelve point. Nine kilometers away claimed he saw an orange fireball and fly into the sky. Reporters afforded this eyewitness account a great deal of weight but levi questions how the man could have seen the boat wreck from his position. The man did sound the alarm. Though telling others a ship hit eldred rock and exploded due to the storm and heavy seas. It was too dangerous to launch a rescue until the following day the deputy collector of the united states customs in alaska. Inspector t. a markham chartered. The steamship rustler to investigate the reported accident on the shore near eldred rock. He found clothing photographs furniture and lumber he also discovered life preservers and a hatch cover printed with hasler. The original name of the clara nevada when markham reached eldred rock. He saw the distinct outline of a vessel twenty four feet or seven point three meters below the surface of the water. A diver inspected the ship and noted a black hole in the hall in the location of the boiler room. Seattle reporters speculated one of the boilers exploded. When the clara nevada hit eldred rock blowing a hole in the bottom of the hall. This conclusion made sense because the boilers repeatedly malfunctioned. On the trip from seattle to skagway when the diver reported the whole had black edge though people wondered why an exploding boiler would cause a black hole black marks more likely indicated a fire when reports leaked about the illegal dynamite aboard. a new theory emerged. Perhaps one or more lanterns aboard the ship overturned and started a fire on the clara nevada if the blaze reached the dynamite then a nation of explosives would not only explain the blackened hole but would also mesh with the eyewitness account of a fireball sending sparks into the air after an investigation. The steamboat inspection service concluded that unsecured lanterns overturned in the pitching rolling seas catching the ship on fire. While the captain and officers battled the blaze in a frantic attempt to keep it from reaching the dynamite they lost track of the vessels bearings and the storm push the clara nevada broadside onto the reef at eldred rock where the ship split open and sank the inspection service. Investigators deduced that. The fire must have started before the boat hit the rock because the divers found fire hose on the ship's deck and the hose was attached to the hydrants and coupled.

"Superstitions swirl around boats and some captains believe bizarre myths renaming. A vessel remains four most among the maritime harbingers of bad luck. And if you dare change the name of your boat you must follow a strict protocol to avoid certain doom. The clara nevada did not even complete her maiden voyage under her new name. Is this both the case. Study to prove the old mariner superstition or did her captain plot her demise. On february fifth eighteen ninety eight the s. s. clara nevada departed skagway. Alaska headed for juno and then seattle hurricane-force winds of ninety knots. That's one hundred miles per hour or one hundred and sixty one kilometers per hour pummeled the vessel with following seas of twelve to fifteen feet or four to five meters. As the helmsmen attempted to navigate the infamous lynn canal of alaska's inside passage when the decrepit old ship reportedly struck a rock and sank. The new surprised. No-one searchers found the body of only one man. The ship's purser but news reports speculated that no one survived such a horrific accident. The loss of clara nevada at first seemed tragic but forseeable accident and no one doubted the negligence of the ship's owners and captain before long though folks began asking questions and the seattle newspapers speculated wildly about the disaster crewmen believed to have died in the wreck turned up alive and well. Even the captain materialized and wasted little time beginning his next venture to ferry prospectors to the goldfields. What happened on february fifth. Eighteen ninety eight aboard. The clara nevada was the wreck an accident or did the captain and a few crewmen perpetrate. The worst.

"These all these fighter pilots their you know husbands fathers. They have families. They're not cold hearted killers. I feel like if the government was shooting down dozens of civilian aircraft every year. Somebody would say something i mean. Yeah by now. Somebody on their deathbed would be like and by the way. Yeah i mean. I'm sure it's probably happened once or twice. And we probably don't know about it i would i would. I would agree with because yeah. It's a pretty serious. You can go on youtube. And there's videos of pilots that just get even near the airspace. And they next thing you know. There's you know f sixteen tailing him so it's not something to screw around with but on the other end of the spectrum f sixteen fly slow enough to tail cessna probably not but they will budget and yeah i was trying to think of like can even fly slowly might stay with a prego one hundred and twenty lights if at an angle towards the ground and just rocking thrust. Because they're not getting any lift at. That's yeah yeah more more likely. They probably like radio. You and do a couple lie. Close fly bys like showing their weapons to break the sonic barrier right past. You just be like yeah. You're you're turning around on the other end of the crazy spectrum though. It could be that the aliens area fifty one either abducting these aircraft or maybe the. Us government uses these aircraft to test new advanced alien weapon technology. Well for that one shoot and they couldn't find it. That's one hundred percent right so yeah it sounds like a really cool x files episode in all honestly i. I don't believe the area fifty one or portal theories. I think it's something more simple as you know pilots. Just underestimate the the crazy weather. That happens around mountains but who knows maybe portals. Maybe it's aliens you know. Gotta have. I like to think it's possible. So that is. That is all i had show. I agree with you on that. I think it's it's more likely attributed to the thing that makes the most reasonable sense. But i like to always think that there's something like something. I won't say more sinister going on but something more interesting happening that that makes it worth tuning into our show. I wouldn't i would like to say. I've i've hiked survived two of the triangles now. So i've hiked in the alaska triangle and the nevada triangle. And i've made it out alive so you're starting to really push the boundaries. I know you just gotta go on a sailing trip in the bermuda triangle. Then we'll i have the well. Let's take a little paddle board out miami for like twenty minutes and we'll come back and then we'll technically have done swimming off the beach in miami. You've probably been in the bermuda triangle. So boom done it. Just in tahoe. So there you go so yeah. That's all i had anything else. Joe from your end nope thanks again for tuning into our show. "Impression but yeah they if they falling just right they orbit. That's why things orbit smaller or bigger things. But they're like we kind of know how it works but we don't understand why it works. They aren't they know gravity. They know the basics of it but they don't fully understand why mass they don't understand why you know. Why does mass bends space time. So things like that. So i maybe there is some strange thing going on in these areas that we don't know the episode. You were joe on the history channel. When they were talking about the brand new triangle. They talked about that one pilot who was flying and all of a sudden he said he was like in some kind of wormhole and came out the other end and he was over miami but he was hundreds of miles away forty minutes. Yeah yeah. He skipped like forty minutes in time and his clocks it match. And i mean you could. He could be full crap or he could be truthful. Who knows but or there was like a real quick tiny blip in space. Something caused a rift in space time. That allowed that to happen. He was in the right place right time and was lucky enough. That didn't crash playing. I mean there are hundreds of disappearances in the nevada triangle that the plane has never been found. Now that doesn't mean it's in alpha centauri now because it went through some hole but you know it's that simpsons episode where they're all dumping their garbage and aliens aliens on the other side of like adopted all of our trash technology remember like because they're throwing away microsoft zun deep players and all the zoos zoo so i won't spend more time on portal's because my the final theory is one that i really like but yeah it's crazy probably not true but it's fun to talk about. It is fun to talk about. So the final theory is area fifty one in alliens because what would be a good conspiracy episode without talking about area. Fifty one in aliens but the nevada triangle area fifty one does flank. Its eastern border. A big chunk of it. And we we have a whole episode on nets the big chunk that we can see underground. I'd bet it encompasses a larger. Yeah so we did an entire episode area fifty one so you should go back and listen to that one. It's very interesting off plug. Yes self plug. I should actually put the episode number on here. But i show prep like i said. Eastern edge of the nevada triangle sits the highly classified government facility. Fifty one according to the us air force. The site has been used since one thousand nine hundred eighty five develop and test. Weapons and.

"A national park service cabin where he found some stocks of food to eat and he kind of he stayed in that cabin and eventually built up the strength to continue hiking towards civilization where he was eventually found so she. Yeah i mean so he. that's awesome. Yeah i i'm shocked. They didn't turn this into a movie. Or maybe they did but he apparently he had he carried took the parachute with him to keep warm. So amazing amazing story of survival but in one thousand nine hundred seventy seven. A group of boy scouts hiking in the area found a canopy that authorities believed was. From steve's t thirty-three wreckage has never been found So this is wow. This is kind of interesting. So i'll say my questions i had was What happened to his jet. You know was it. Is it just lost in the wilderness. Now when i was doing research on this specific incident there was a lot of This was at the height of the cold. War was kicking off. We were kind of getting into a competition with the russians at this time and there was a lot of rumors that he sold the crash jet to the soviets and that he was kind of like a soviet double agent within the united states military might landed at somewhere and then he like built elaborate backstory as something like that yeah and he. He claimed that's totally not true. I you know i. It did experience Issues and i had to a checked. The thing that adds to the mystery will never know because he actually ended up dying in a plane crash only a few few years later. Nineteen sixty five. So was that plane. Crash suspect at all they. They claim it was just a mechanical issues with his plane and he went down with it. But veda the military. So okay which you know. I know i know i'm being i'm being no. I mean provocative. So like i said back. Then you know. These pilots would fly new and unproven jets a lot of times. It would go down or did was he a double agent and he was selling us military technology and they got rid of him. That's kind of what. I was getting that they found out. That actually was a double agent or selling secrets. And they're like He died in a plane crash. That's so weird. Yeah so it's just another strange incident that happened within the nevada triangle. So all right. Let's move on to our next incident. This one maybe. That's why there's no movie on it because you know. Cia hollywood especially back. Then we're totally tied in. They're not gonna make a movie about that if he's if he's the bad guy. Yeah it it would make for really interesting movie. Actually the whole him selling secrets and that faking. That would be a great move. Yeah so anybody listening. Who is a movie producer. Great idea re-adjust. I give us a shout out in the movie. Forgiving you the idea yeah The the pre was the producer that did the all the alien shows. Oh i can't. I can't remember his name. I guess this or path theon prometheus prometheus do a made for tv history channel move area. Were consult on it for you like we definitely don't need you to so moving onto our next incident. "Have been set in this in the nevada triangle area so for example In one thousand nine hundred eighty five lake tahoe set the twenty four hours snow record with sixty seven inches of snow. She holy cow. Yeah and then in the nineteen zero six thousand nine hundred seven season. Tamra california's set the seasonal snowfall record with eight hundred eighty four inches of snow in one season. So yeah so it's You know it. It was pretty extreme weather and you know as we get into this. You'll see that on the same side of theories. I think whether probably does play a good chunk of you know you know factor of what's going on to these pilots but here's some other just kind of interesting facts about areas within. The nevada triangle. Obviously yosemite national park's it's within the triangle and That's home to the tallest waterfall. In the united states which has a vertical drop of two thousand four hundred twenty five feet yosemite falls which joe i actually got to see in person last fall. It's pretty amazing. To see in person. I ever out in california you gotta go to yosemite one in the did you see any moon bows and no because of covid. We weren't allowed to overnight and the parks so yeah we'll have to go back. We'll have to do an actual backcountry in yosemite. Yeah i want to go. So i'm on that one. I was busy filming. That's why i wasn't there. Yeah so the climate of the sierra nevada mountain ranges impacted by california's mediterranean climate. But it higher elevations you experience an alpine climate. Just like i said you can get a season where you have. Eight hundred eighty four inches of snow so Pretty pretty wild extremes in weather Like i mentioned earlier. "I think some think it's eighty five percent or so of households are going to get some sort of money. Lots of different lots of money for municipalities. I think nevada's slated get something like four point one billion dollars or so actually more than five all local governments in the state is. There's there's quite a lot you know there for that. There's childcare credits. I learned that my my wife was telling me the other day that we're going to get like one hundred thirty dollars a month from now on until the rest of the end of the year in child to pay for childcare. Which is nice. It's a thousand dollars a month but you know one hundred and thirty. It'll help with head i can. I can buy some groceries or something. But there's there's a lot of those types of things that that are in there a lot of help for folks who are on food assistance of have increased unemployment insurance unemployment benefits and things like that at least until september so mid-september But you know. I think that there's it's definitely a clear. Victory you know for the biden campaign is some things that zakho nine actually. I saw tweeted about saying that. The last time biden was here this this piece of legislation. A lot of these things are specifically what he talked about with. You know sort of the statewide leaders here in nevada and conan at said on twitter that he really he said the state really really needs. This really needs to support for local governments to sorta backstop them to keep people employed in very important jobs and keep public safety jobs things like that. So there's a lot to to that. That's that's really good. But i you know to me. The most interesting thing was also the process. So i don't know we can just talk about what's in the bill. I'm sure you've got a lot more factoid than than i i definitely want to talk about the process of it because it was. It was almost farcical at times. What you saw happening in these senate and house chambers during the passage of this thing. Oh yeah no absolutely. There were some ridiculous things that and going back to what we were talking about. At the beginning here you have people in the bernie sanders wing. Who wanted a minimum wage increase of fifteen dollars an hour. This is something that everybody i think. even republicans. I think agree that the minimum wage with hasn't been raised in in more and more than a decade Is far too low. Now it's it's Poverty way to. It's not a living wage by any stretch of the imagination. And so they wanted to put it in this package. It was in the original version But then the senate parliamentarian ruled that no. You can't do that under budget. Reconciliation rules and so you have to take it out now. There were people who were saying. Oh how with that. You know overrule the parliamentarian. They can do that. The vice president could could go up there and said nope overruled were putting it in and it would subject to obviously legal attack. But the you've got you've got the bernie sanders. People who are now in charge of the nevada democratic party saying look see. This is what we're talking about a bill that would help people a measure that would help people a get a be able to have a living wage is is shunted aside because the moderates won't take on the system they won't rock the boat Because of these byzantine rules. Why should a parliamentarian a single person on elected by anybody and these byzantine roles of the senate stand in the way of progress and good things for people..

"We have some material that you may be interested in from from our from our experience here in nevada absolutely websites that the state party and and susie leased campaign had set up. Basically that that you know could you could just kinda go through various records. Both both you know criminal complaints like he had one Sort of battery charge where he got deferred prosecution on that went to anger management. Things like that he had. There is a number of Financial complaints about his business dealings. Things like that And yeah it's i. i'm. I'm looking at the story now too and i should give credit. I meant to do this before. His patrick feedback was the reporter in texas with the texas tribune who put this n has quotes from him here and just going to read some of them. Because it's it's interesting what it says. We need fighters in texas. And that's what. I'm coming here for road number so he just flat out saying like i'm i'm coming here. I'm moving back to texas. I have six children. And i want them to be raised in a constitutional friendly state. So think about that nevada. You're you're not living in constitutional friendly state. Apparently and i agree with you. I'd love look looking at his campaign records. He spent everything that he reported in his campaign. Pretty much the twenty thousand dollars left in his campaign account here which is nothing. That's that's nothing and it congressional race where you saw him spend and spend three million dollars susie way over four million dollars And so so that money was put somewhere else. Apparently now you should say. I don't know that for a fact i've heard that from multiple folks who who worked in republican politics here that that is that is what you know he had planned to do. And i guess we'll see in texas but yeah i definitely it's an interesting one and and yeah i think it's going to leave republicans in that district which is meant to be the state swing district. We talk about a pretty much every week. you know. that's that's the race to get into. If you're a republican and seeking an opportunity susan Been very very resilient I you know she. "Which i just. I have no idea how that's going to go over Texas tribune reporter had asked him. Do you have a former president. Trump's backing he very he did have trump's backing you know. certainly when he ran in nevada he basically said we'll see so that means no And and yeah i. I just wonder how that's gonna go. I have heard from local republican operatives. Who started texting me as soon as this. This came out. I've heard that somewhere during his campaigning. Here he did stash about a million dollars in a in a pack. And he's gonna you know essentially flip that into his reysen in texas Into trying to get out of what's very very crowded primary field and and yeah. I mean it's just it was. I heard the rumors. I waited until you know folks who were here and would know told me before we we talked about it but yeah definitely seems to be happening. But i love this story. I love this story for so many different reasons. The carpetbagger angle is is hilarious. It It reminds me of another a republican here in nevada danny arcane who tried Tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried again To win office down here in southern nevada six times and failed each time and then moved up to douglas county and ran for the douglas. County commission At just complete carpet bagger. I mean there was no question that that this was. The you know the primary motivation behind this move and one by seventeen votes in in twenty twenty just barely won that seat and and finally had success Having moved you know to the dealer ended the state And i wondered when he did that. What republicans were gonna think about that. And apparently you know seventeen more of them than the voted for the other guy. Thought it was okay but But we're the real thing. I think that if i was a republican that i would be upset about is why is there. Money left over from the d. Three race i mean. Why was that money. Not deployed in that race against suzy lee You know what was there was a thought that hey you know. What if this doesn't work out. I'm gonna need some cash to see to race in another state or in another jurisdiction because I you know i. My primary goal is to run for congress and win the state really matter If i was a republican voter here. I would be like well. I sorry. I gave that money because i gave it for race here in cd three. And then that's as it should have been spent there or returned to the donors donated to charity or whatever so It just such a great. It's just such a great story in in in in every sense and and there was no there was no doubt we both saw it on the campaign trail. Did dan roy. Dahmer was a showman he was he had been in wrestling and and had all the Personality of that you know being a wrestler and on all that kind of stuff that also actually hurt him because there were those nine. One one calls Lodging domestic violence and there was the police reports of of you know A violent encounters and bars and florida. So it cut both ways We will hear all those things again. I am sure that the in fact. I saw a tweet from the spokeswoman for the nevada democratic party on twitter that says hey texas democrats let's chat..

"A lot of the power that they had maybe maybe twenty eight twenty sixteen but it did take years to sort of write that ship if you're a democrat and so there there is a lot at stake right away for the. Yeah definitely and the cd. Three race is a perfect example of of What we were talking about earlier You know you You you suzy. Lee is is a good democrat for that district because she's a moderate and There's a lot of people who are progressives who don't like moderates and think will wire their you know what's the point Of having a moderate democrat you might as well have a republican in there But But but honestly if you ran a if bernie sanders moved to southern nevada got gave up his mittens gave up. His jacket moved to southern nevada. in lived here and decided to run for congress in the in the third congressional district he'd have an uphill climb. It would be tough for bernie sanders to win notwithstanding the fact that he would have total progressive. Support the district currently drawn. And we'll see how it's drawn at the end of the summer when they re district the district is currently drawn would be a very tough sledding for bernie sanders And and i it's not as tough for sicily because of their ideological differences and so that's a perfect example. Now you have april becker Who is a good candidate. She was a very good candidate in that state. Senate race And i think she'll be a very good candidate for For this district assuming she wins the primary. You're gonna have to have somebody who can't be painted as a crazy out of touch socialist. Who wants to take away. Everybody's healthcare and give government healthcare You you if you have that kind of person who would be much easier for a republican challenger to to win that seat and certainly. It's happened many times before in the history of the third congressional district so that district has kind of a good example of the the consequences of of these kind of things. And what potentially could go wrong You need a etiological diversity in the party because of the ideological diversity of the districts and if you do a poor job of matching candidate to district you lose and the other side wins and And you know that may Be for for democrats again a disaster like it wasn't twenty sixteen with donald trump winning the presidency And so you know. These things have to be taken into consideration and the political realities of those things have to be taken into consideration. So i think that's that's that's gonna come into play For some of the central committee voters not all but some of the central committee. Voters will look at things outweigh and i think. See the the pragmatic reality of of what's going on there so that'll that'll be a factor share sharon and certainly as we always say we'll be watching it the next week and be the the following saturday coming from the saturday in which they actually you make this vote and you get a good sense of where the democratic party in nevada. The sort of the empowered party is what i call them in the story because they really have a a pretty tight grip on things most of the state most the federal seats the the majority in both legislative houses and things like that..

"That would extend the life of the program and thank the one that has the greatest cash is to raise the tax levels as set cotton at one twenty but had higher levels that you pay into athletic. That's things. When most people talk about considered barest. would. That be do you think that would be just a a flat tax on wages up to that amount or should should the should there should be a progressive? Tax the so you pay the full rate up to one twenty and then maybe half half of that one, twenty, two, two, hundred, and a half of that from beyond that or should it just be a flat rate on all wages up to a higher amount than it is now and I guess more of a graduated situation I am steadied the numbers yet before mids anything I'd have to do that if indeed they move in that direction, but it seems to be graduated would be better now cars when we've already discussed. The Medicare, all program, you are I think the first and if I'm not mistaken the only a person in Nevada delegation who has who has supported extending the Medicare program to everybody We know that that's probably not going to happen anytime soon certainly, the Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden does not support that idea but even keeping the the program as it is for people with disabilities, and those were sixty five years older. If we just kept it as the trustees of the Medicare system estimated in just six years, it's not gonna be able to pay full benefits now a our. Poll found the ninety three percent of its members want congressional candidates to talk about the longevity of the Medicare program. So here's your opportunity to to speak to that ninety three percent Are you concerned about the lunge, any of the program and and what ideas do you have to make sure it's in place for when people are about to retire actually do. s certainly want to be sure that we keep it in place and that we keep it saw I think it's one of the most important programs that we have. One of the things that we could do to save money just right off the bat that would be so simple is to allow Medicare to negotiate for drug prices like the be a does to bargain for prices as opposed to just kind of have to take whatever the pharmaceutical companies give us, and we've tried to do that through legislation. We can't seem to get it out of the Republican Senate. President not hasn't supported on the pharmaceutical companies are very powerful then so I think that's one thing he could certainly do..

"So I think there's still a lot of back and forth on it I spoke to a few people including groceries been looking at polls for a lot longer than I've been alive and everybody's everybody's. Consensus seems to be Biden has the advantage. There's there's it's measurable in pretty much every way the by its Biden's to lose I think most people would say you know the trump campaign is working they're out there registering you see the Democrats and their allies have really kind of stepped up in the last couple of weeks. You know they're they're getting out the vote. Sort of actions. Now, normally, they'd be doing that for like a year. So so the there is some wiggle rooms there's a window I think that the trump campaign is trying to crawl through but you know when you look at the survey and you get a little bit deeper, you know it wasn't that Rosie for trump because we also asked folks, you know what they thought of. Of their number one motivation was and by far the most common motivation for voting was forgetting trump out of office about a quarter of the pioneer said that that was a reason second-place was the economy added about seventeen percent, and then also if you look at who do you trust, we asked folks who do you trust to you know sorta gets out of this corona virus mass and trump in the federal government were near the bottom of that as well. So so not super rosy for trump, but I, do think. It's it's their best poll of the state in in months so far. So maybe maybe there's something to be clean there and to me I, just shows you know what everybody's been saying what we've been saying for months it's it's still very much a swing state. It's still very much anybody's ballgame. The that's for sure. We should also mention a couple of other top top results. Don blankenship gone one percent in our poll. If you're wondering who don blankenship is use the Constitution Party candidate. Nationally. He is running here in the state of Nevada, under the independent American party banner. and. Joe Jorgensen got three percent she is the libertarian candidate. For. President. So Um so there's probably some libertarians there now whether that will see that in the final analysis, we we to see none of these candidates by the way got four percent which beats the independence and third parties there. So I'm sorry visa third parties, not the independence and so that is an option that's on Nevada's ballot that sort of unique to the State Nevada but yeah, twenty five percent did say their motivation was getting rid of trump. and seventeen percent said, their motivation was the economy. "We see who quote Unquote One California. That they have a better shot of having a good showing right then and so. They're actually actively trying to get them to vote early now. Bloomberg has spent a ton of money we know on. Tv there Paid advertising somewhere close to forty million dollars since December. What are they doing on the other piece of this? Finding these early voters. And do you think they're getting a good return on the investment? They've made their well. I know that there are active. And I know that they're working on trying to get the same population and they're trying to get voters who are independence the right democratic ballot and doing a lot of that stuff in California. They've hired a lot of California based consultants That understand the process I think that can be a shortcoming when you come from a national campaign as you come in California. You'd think of it as just a big state but being a Californian and having run races in California is really important for any of these presidential campaigns in so Bloomberg I noted has been tapping a lot of local talent in California and I think we're seeing. The impact of the Bloomberg campaign in in polling has been making a steady rise and You know it's it has really been the the thing that has shaped the race in California. Both the sanders overwhelming Lead that he has right now and the dynamic of Bloomberg and what's going to happen with him in the coming weeks a lot of talk about the Latino vote having an incredible influence because you have California Texas Nevada early in this process. Is there anything that you are picking up now with the early vote that can give us a sense of how engaged? Latino voters are in this primary will. It's always an interesting thing. Because California the plurality of the California population is Latino. You've got this huge number of how many you know. Resit answer our Latino. Then when you look at those who are actually over eighteen and citizens it gets smaller than you look at those that are are actually registered to get smaller still and then those that are likely to vote it gets even smaller in those actually turn in their ballots. It's smaller and smaller. And so as a portion of the registered voters there at about twenty six percent of the electorate as a portion of voters in primary they can be as low as eleven percent of the electorate. And maybe as I think the record was twenty percent of the electorate. So it's an interesting thing that to make it really simplified that Latinos are more than a quarter of the electorate but generally participated a rate. That's less than a fifth of the electorate when we look at the early vote. We don't see a lot of signs of you. Know some huge Latino mobilization at that's also true every time we look at early vote. The Latino population generally does vote later in the process. So we wouldn't necessarily be expecting to see that in the votes that have come in in the first say fifteen days. Thanks so much for talking to me. I really appreciate it grave joining you. I really appreciate it. I'll Mitchell vice president of political data INC.

"The team thinks it's capable of up to fifteen centimeters per didn't can be done inside sealed sterile containers as well which is useful for medical applications and the like a company called readily three D has also been created to mark. The system was pretty impressive. This peer reviewed in nature. It's it's got a company they're going to bring this to market. It's very small. I get to centimeters. You're not making all you know any Lego toys for your kids with this but Part Heart Valve. Maybe especially if they get it up to fifteen centimeters. I mean it's impressive. How fast the stuff prince in this machine? Because it's just a shooting into a liquid and creating the solid object. It's almost like a replicator right except the liquid materials already there. It's not appearing out of anywhere. Yeah when you when you hear about this you go okay. Three protein is getting faster when you watch video of how it works. You're like wow. That's it's it. Feels like something has materialized out of thin air. Yeah because it's it's the advancements in ai because the algorithm can be you know can direct the lasers to exactly the right places so that it will in fact create the solid objects at exactly the right places. So it's much more. Precise can be used for interior decorating. They think because you don't have to finish the item. They come out polished. Just make it perfect from the beginning. This is a pretty big advance. It'll be interesting to see where it goes. I know a lot of people in the three D. Printing space will be annoyed with the fact that I'm like whatever happened to Three D. Printing and it was gonna be was GONNA change everybody's lives and I know that it is extremely helpful for lots of things if you need to make something but this seems like okay now. We're really getting somewhere because it's almost instantaneous. To get all the tech headlines each day about five minutes be sure to subscribe to daily tech headlines Dot Com in light of the failure of the APP used in the Iowa Caucus earlier this month in the United States. Nevada reportedly decided not to use that same APP but instead they're using a tool. It's not an APP. They say at least sources say they say it's a preinstalled tool on an IPAD. That's not connected to the internet which I would also call an APP just one. That's not connected to the internet or the one made by shadow for the Iowa caucus but there is in fact the difference. The IOWA APP was meant to transmit the vote and delegate count to the state that's why it was Internet connected. This Nevada ipad tool the volunteers are describing various. Alex seems to be for use only in the room to calculate the numbers because calculating the numbers and collating all those numbers during the caucus is complex. So it's essentially if I get this right Justin. It's a glorified calculator. Yes and here is one of the differences between Nevada an Iowa Nevada will begin early voting within the next few days that means that preset locations you can go and caucus a about a week ahead of time so at those precincts those calculators will be preloaded theoretically with the early voting that would result in. That would have gone that. Tracy this is like telling your dungeon master here all the things to do During the game I won't be there right because a caucus we think of is like you go to that corner of the room if you support that candidate and what's happening on early voting if I have it right. Justin you basically put down your choices in order like I'm for this person but if they don't survive the first round then go to this person but if that one's also not around go to this person that Cetera exactly so think of it because we are in Vegas the Mecca of gambling that pre-vote will be kind of like a point. Spread the way that you would bet in the way that if you see the Miami Dolphins Against The Dallas cowboys the Miami Dolphins minus seven. That would be. Let's say Bernie Sanders. He will be minus seven because Elizabeth. Warren has gotten seven votes. If that makes any sense you're the the the what I WANNA ask. Everybody here is that. Let's imagine that we do live in twenty twenty and you do want to modernize and make the process of the caucus faster and cleaner and so you do want to implement some kind of technology to make it easier for everybody but you don't WanNa go full Iowa and have a total meltdown disaster by the way an APP that was initially bought by Nevada for this caucus and apparently Nevada loved it so much. They recommended it to Iowa I than the one that had the exploding cigar So now Nevada has dropped it and has this tool. But how do you handle it? Yeah because the tricky part is you've got some complex math going on you don't want I mean if you're just do it on paper doing it on paper would be absolutely more complex than using a computer. We have computers. We're not talking about the Internet here. I think it would be silly not to use a computer somehow to do this. Because you're going to have all these people who voted early and they're ranked choices that you need to take into account in addition to the people standing in the caucus right. And so. If I have I don't know an excel spreadsheet that has all the early voting data in it and I can just go in and fill in a form that says okay for the first round in the room at this many for this candidate this many for that candidate and then it calculates ID. That's great sounds like that's the idea for this ipad tool. Yeah isn't an APP but I don't know why you had to create something from scratch. There's so many tools that would do this. And if you're going to be off line anyway then it's just a matter of double checking to make sure that the data entry is correct and people are trained on the tool. And you're already having to do that with the IPAD TOOL. So why not use something? That's proven frigging Microsoft. Excel now the one thing that we can tell you is that we don't know whether or not it is. Excel Baby. It is right. No idea exactly what this particular tool is. We just know that it was a precinct. Captains were trained on last Saturday. That apparently was not a seamless process. At least according to all reports of those that were there but at the very least there is the there are a few things going Nevada number one a lot. Fewer people in Nevada caucuses than they do in Iowa and I will. It is a cultural tradition in Nevada. They've only been doing it since two thousand and eight number two. It happens a lot earlier. Check in for caucusing is at ten. Am and the caucus happens at noon. Now it happens on a weekend so you're able to get out a little bit earlier. It's not like people will be leaving work in less. Obviously they have a tremendous service economy that works on the weekends. They're coming up your city right but even then the casinos are holding their own. People are going to be allowed to leave their shifts. So everybody if you were going to be in Vegas that weekend make sure you get at least two drinks at eleven fifty five. That's that's fantastic and we will. Of course Wait to hear how this APP DOES. But if you have a suggestion you're like this.
