"More strange days Kovic on the rise. So many important procedures and medical needs are still being allowed to fester because people are afraid to go to their doctor let alone a hospital. So this pandemic is claiming lives from people who don't even catch the disease one specialty that can't wait for covert to be rear view mirrors neonatologist the care necessary for some of the smallest of us to survive catastrophic challenges. We have a special guest today from a hospital that is leading the country in the quest to place the odds in the newborns favor welcome to medicine. We're still practicing I'm Bill Curtis of course I my friend and Co host Dr Steven Tailback He's the quadruple board certified doctor of Internal Medicine Pulmonary Disease Critical Care and neuro critical care these days he continues to fight on the front lines of the COVID battle in California for which we are eternally grateful Steve How you doing I'm well thank you. It's good to be. I'm sure you've heard of children's Hospital of Los Angeles notice. Hla US News and World Report has consistently ranked the H. L. A. in the top five nationally and the number one pediatric hospital in California for thirty years. Running this remarkable nonprofit children's care hospital is nationally known for Neonatal Research and care that is funded entirely by generous philanthropists. Dr Felipe Friedli is chief of neonatologist at Children's Hospital. He is also co director of the fetal and neonatal? Institute. And he is professor of clinical pediatrics and surgery at the renowned kept school of Medicine at USC where he's published over one hundred, fifty abstracts, Peer Review Articles and book. Chapters Dr. Freedland is a rock star in one of the world's most complicated pressure filled and delicate specialties that include newborn respiratory failures newborn pulmonary hypertension even surgery on unborn babies. Can you imagine welcome Dr Felipe Free Lick? It is an honor to have you here tonight and having me. So doctor. Can you just bring our listeners up to speed on C. H. LA and your mission there? Sharon's HUSK local Sandra's mission is to care for sick children's no matter what their background cultural background or insurance they have we are. Laced to gear for family and children's in babies when there's no other place that could care for them. Are we talking about like one of the few medical specialties that truly couldn't wait for Covid to pause that's a great question fortunately or many children's covid has not been has impactful. They are some babies are insurance that are sick but by four unless we compared to adults we. Are Really lucky so far. So we're not going to spend the whole show on Kovin because frankly I think people wanted to know much more about your specialty, but maybe you could tell us a little about what kind of a regimen as C. H. L. A. Developed uniquely for this pandemic and what are some of the special things that you do at your hospital to manage this. A lot of it has to do with making sure that became screen families in staff when they arrive at the hospital in make sure that they're the environment for caring for the Germans you regardless of the reason why they're in the hospital is is optimal until the hospital has and significant resources to ensure that we screen families and visitors and parents when they arrive psychologically, how do you get your clientele to feel safe under these circumstances that has been Estonia As you can imagine a lot of families or speared to even go close to a hospital. So said, only our data's suggesting that we can provide a safest environment to bring Ren's and care for them, but it is a concern. Certainly, we can see that visit to the emergency room are significantly down obviously a lot of the outpatient clinic. I've had to restructure their environment, but I think that honest conversations with family in trying to make sure that. Children can get the care they need. So they don't have complications from their Biz orders diseases are we tried to do our best to get the message across near infected pregnant women? What percentage of the infection will affect the units? It depends how you define a fact neonates that we have not seen certainly in our area in each show drums or need neonates infected with the virus is very reports in the world literature. Around that, what we do see though is mother who gets sick with that of nineteen illness and systemic inflammatory response, and then for metro reason the the baby. Has To be delivered early, some more of a high risk delivery as opposed to neo natal issue for set right in. So premature babies that are born because the mother is sick is is something that we see are not sick with Kobe, but they have all the risks of complications from prematurely you use the term premature and for our listeners we think. We know what that means but can you define it at what level is it become a problem and I also understand that your hospital very often doesn't get the babies until there's a problem you just suddenly get a call that there's a need that's correct. What prematurity is is defining general and any a pregnancy debt is not reached thirty eight weeks but. Obviously, there are gradation of prematurity. In this country, we have made remarkable advances in support premature infants. Now, we care routinely for babies that delimit the viability that's around twenty two weeks gestation. So if four twenty, eight weeks, it's fair to say that those babies are the highest risk of complications after eight weeks. The outcomes in this country are really really good. What kind of complications do you deal with when it's actually ten weeks too early, there are lots of complication that those babies can be suggested to. They are complications involving the brain. So these baby's brain or very fragile own and they can have significant damages to to their brain. All the organs are augury fragile. The good news is that most babies do do quite well in in recover. Would we worry the most is obviously the Oregon's that damaged don't cover such as the brain or the is. By, far with the technology that we in this country, most babies do quite well. So I I watched one of your videos where.

gone if that happens on two people thing or not enough sex a man for you Bob's name brands or none of women for you I know what to tell you Bob says it was on my podcast last week and he was fantastic he's a jerk he's like an Italian dreamboat I don't know if he's Italian looks like it yeah and a boat separately and together Kimberly's lovely very tall and they break things in the refrigerator yeah they are genetically engineered super soldiers who have to have sex in the refrigerator because they are I did this genic thing on my podcast that myth was dispelled we know exactly what really happens Jody Hamilton is a rumor spreaders okay well yes Travis just there are some of the the Roger stone's being sent and just as we speak as we speak the collapse on him up lock him up it seems that judge Berman Jackson if you're nasty is not happy about these changes in the sentencing guidelines and she's been pushing on the the attorney crab is his name I know crabs anyways I he's like I can't talk about the internal debate deliberations on whether the second memorandum and she's a digit and she she pointedly asked him if he wrote it yeah he would respond to that cycle because you signed off on it he's again I can't talk about the internal deliberations that went on for this memo if for the the new member how long you spend in jail how long before trump pardons him today tomorrow tomorrow by the way he certainly is a taking of bill Barr seriously even though that's kabuki he's already tweeting John Kerry said agrees Murphy goes the ball in the Logan act with respect to Iran Republicans did what they did you mean like Mike Flynn Sears rendition they say register lied to Congress I see but so to call me any select that some information which almost almost everyone other than cricket Hillary Clinton goes to jail for a long time said any cable also lied to the F. get their news okay so this would be the so bill bars I'm sure has resigned now right because he said he cannot do is it's impossible do its job he's tweeting on I have a question yes and I understand he would be a civilian would bill Barr have to testify in front of Congress if you resign before March because he's trying to get out of I'm wondering if he's wrong about testifying because he almost got caught by Harris last time you took almost two got caught and so I'm wondering if they're setting it up somehow where he does resign if there's someone to take his place since he's already done what he needed to do he got the president often impeachment hearings he's gotten people it's sort of like a wrong contract no one's going to jail for this that's in the in the big ring of that and I'm wondering if he's going to resign so he doesn't have to testify on a call if you want to go to that dark place we can also go the darker place that that means that trump could probably a point and at an acting Attorney General like you did with Mr big ball toilet yeah yeah yeah and wealth and and that that person can stay in the position for I believe six months which would take it to the end of the election right go to Jamie Dimon just accident you nasty what I like their staging some weird fight were bars like hit me in the face as hard as you can watching don't just give me the phase is not as you can the morning here it sounds like she is leaning towards the heavier of sentence in this and even is he going to wait till after the election to pardon and even though it's cuter said I don't think you want to go do it immediately immediately finally Nixon will go to prison industry on Rogers turns back yeah he's not gonna have much time for anyone to meet his Dick Nixon had to I don't know it was him I my mouth immediately gag reflex sent out to everyone that's what I just the reason I'm finally go to jail then tweet it sure sounds like a songes attorneys are prepared to back up this claim with evidence it's another indication of trump's assault on the rule of law isn't new it's been ongoing throughout his term I'd imagine just imagine how much we don't know this is all connected I bet I've always known it was the was the link between Julian Ricky weeks and it sounds like yeah and I don't know where this is a son's revenge that you know they obviously they dangled a pardon to him if you would lie and say it wasn't rusher behind it the DMC hack which would exonerate Russia and trump I would've Collins feels concerned yet I mean you you know try what is our levels in certain I think her level of concern is I'm losing by one point in polls now in her own state thank god thank god I hope that they I mean McConnell's gonna start funneling so much money up into that election we really have to watch those very very carefully because right now Collins is losing in the polls by point to her challenger center it's a ruptured ordinary money yep so it will be any better way the same first trump did his usual I don't know did a row backer that is really all in India and Q. four hundred and fifty pictures yes yeah it's great yes at the which is completely untrue but who said that for seventy Grisham yesterday and of course he's dead so there's a "Twelve Hey Steve good morning double as you've been looking recently overnight well thank you very much a toll yeah we were fake yeah that's exactly right but anyway I have a few things yeah you're always on top of the issues in the Delaware Valley always way out find everyone else follows so I appreciate that talk radio twelve ten you're listening to the best of the rich the only show on talk radio twelve and PhD I have the pleasure of welcoming the vice president I'd states of America Mike pence Mister vice president welcome to Philadelphia rich is great to be back in the keystone state thank you for having me on the rich the only show how this is my honor Sir my honor and thank you for pushing the school choice agenda you and president trump of made this a signature issue and we couldn't be happier about that well it's a very exciting when you saw the president should last night when he talked about art termination to make it possible for every parent in America to choose where their kids go to school and the call for a billion or scholarships around the country in today US secretary Betsy to boss and I traveled the Saint Francis de sales school which is a horrible Catholic school the Philadelphia area to an incredible work and almost ninety percent of the kids there are right are able to attend that school because of a scholarship the Pennsylvania is made available over the last twenty years what we regret it though was last year walls actually vetoed a bill that would have expanded educational scholarships to another fifty thousand students and as as is is I clues in Iran model where the state of the union last night a back home to Pennsylvania on airforce through I promise them I'm promising your listeners we're gonna keep fighting until every parent America has a right to choose their kids go to school regardless of their income regardless of their area code well that makes its music to my ears me as a parent of a five year old and a three year old and we all worry about the indoctrination how the public schools it's also the single biggest civil rights issue of our time I think without question I believe that's right I really do and I mean look it's a bit sister Mary yes the it's a currency was for each issue said do you know do just a separate day and an education is justice that it did to educate I think she said there were kids from forty different countries who were at this school and I was so impressed with the student body has spent a lot of time with the kids there's simply no question in my mind that you're right this is about opening doors of opportunities of every American regardless of race creed color background income and that's why president trump are gonna keep fight he tried to expand choice across Pennsylvania across America Mister vice president you one Pennsylvania twenty sixteen I I saw the president November when I had the honor of interviewing him in the oval office and I said to him I think you're gonna win Pennsylvania again Sir and a big part of that is the U. S. M. C. A. which was just signed and I I got to say great job I'm out I know it was there towards the end of big slog together through but I've heard from farmers I've heard from manufacturers and they're really excited about the US MCA Richard no quit and thank you for your support of the US MCA you know it was a long walk a beat the president completed the negotiation with lex the over a year ago in the in Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats sat on that on that deal for the whole period of time we travel all across the country the president I were telling stories your CA would mean and we we got across we got across the finish line the president cited just a few short weeks ago it and it's a huge win for manufacturing in Pennsylvania it's just went for agriculture and that combined with the phase one deal with China that combined with less taxes less regulation unleashing American energy ending the war on coal standing up for American steel we just think it's it's all part of a winning message we're gonna make sure Kerry all across the keystone state between now and November twenty twenty there's no doubt that the president had a grand slam out of the park with say the unit dressed Mister vice president and I love that he said yeah please do please do please do I was I was real happy and everybody was got tremendous feedback from it and I love what he said about American energy independence I mean that's great you know the Democrats are running against him every single one of them is that they want to get rid of fracking Pennsylvania get rid of coal get rid of fossil fuels me that somebody Pennsylvanians rely on those industries it it really is incredible the disease no question that every single one of the Democrats running for president wants to restart the war on coal the opposition to fracking the everything that we have done that his strength in the economy of Pennsylvania and strength and energy independence for the United States of America would be undone if if one of these Democrats made their way to the oval office with the president gets out of the Paris climate accord in in just made it clear that what we're gonna put America first we're gonna put American energy first in and I'll tell you what the the the fact that we're up for the first time in seventy years the United States is a net exporter of oil and natural gas should tell you everything you need to know about the difference this president is made for American energy and as far as part of the choice the people of Pennsylvania will face if you want to go back to the war on coal you got a whole bunch of Democrats running for president to be able to deliver that to you but I I promise you people across the keystone state know that this energy boom is driving this blue collar bone and we're gonna keep it going all all the way through four more years of president Donald Trump I think it's terrific Mister vice president how much you're focusing on Pennsylvania again people really appreciate it Sir thank you for being here today it means a lot really does a rich I appreciate your time and and your voice on the airwaves every day we are we are going to be back to Pennsylvania again and often Pennsylvania always plays an outsize role in national elections the Pennsylvania voted for a stronger more prosperous more secure America twenty sixteen that we have ever competence the people the keystone state are going to vote for four more years of president Donald Trump and twenty twenty thanks for your support let me ask you Mister vice president if I could the news about Mitt Romney I really just so incredibly frustrated by Mitt Romney's decision to announce a vote to convict the president it's this is been I I think one of the one of the really worst days for him personally I don't know what he's thinking here and I I it's a shame yeah I I don't get it and obviously we're disappointed but the good news is is that the president will be acquitted by the United States Senate in just a few short hours and and we think it's likely he'll be acquitted on a on a bipartisan basis because the members of the Senate and saw this with the exception of the Democrats about senator Romney the Republicans in the Senate and maybe a Democrat or to solve this for what it was this was a partisan impeachment there was was a preceded by a sham investigation where the president had no due process no right to call witnesses no no opportunity to cross examine in they ram this thing through before December when the American people could see the transcript they can they can see there was no quid pro quo the president did nothing wrong you crack got all the eight and I I expect those hard fact well the reason why the you know that the president will be acquitted in the Senate today and they will put this behind us I mean honestly you know this partisan impeachment is a great disservice to the country but seeing the president last night to the country but the credible progress was made in spite of not only his partisan impeachment but two and a half years of of a baseless accusation of Russia collusion Taylor was found by the justice department is no collusion no obstruction case closed I mean it just it just makes me even more proud of this president which was based on president opposition and been delivering every single day for the American Roger on the ticket and you know one last night the president pointed out the the young the baby at twenty one weeks old who was saved I you know we're in the in the middle right now of this amazing time in some of the hospitals here in Philadelphia right around the streets where I'm broadcasting from there doing incredible work with the you know young babies at preemies and and it's I was wonderful to hear the president knowledge that the science is there and that was that was terrific well the call for you know to me I I met that little girl and her mom and heard about the miracle baby that she was literally she literally wait I think eight ounces when she born and to see the miracle of science and god's grace that has that little girl now two years old and precocious of in the end healthy and happy but you know the president last night celebrated medical progress celebrated that family called for a historic investment in in neonatal research so we could save more lives but but then as the most pro life president American history he also took the moment to call on the conference call the Congress in the midst of all those medical advances also the band in late term abortion once and for all and I I promise your listeners this president this vice president this administration will always stand for right to life I have no doubts god bless you Mr vice president will tell me to have you back again yeah thanks in the U. located no whatever you do to the best of the rich the only show on talk radio twelve professional sports teams want the best players on the roster investors want the best stocks in their portfolios but how to everyday people know how to pick the right investments I'm ready.
