So this pandemic is claiming lives from people who don't even catch the disease one specialty that can't wait for covert to be rear view mirrors neonatologist the care necessary for some of the smallest of us to survive catastrophic challenges. We have a special guest today from a hospital that is leading the country in the quest to place the odds in the newborns favor welcome to medicine. Chapters Dr. Freedland is a rock star in one of the world's most complicated pressure filled and delicate specialties that include newborn respiratory failures newborn pulmonary hypertension even surgery on unborn babies. Can you imagine welcome Dr Felipe Free Lick? It is an honor to have you here tonight and having me. So doctor. Can you just bring our listeners up to speed on C. H. LA and your mission there? Sharon's HUSK local Sandra's mission is to care for sick children's no matter what their background cultural background or insurance they have we are. Laced to gear for family and children's in babies when there's no other place that could care for them. Are we talking about like one of the few medical specialties that truly couldn't wait for Covid to pause that's a great question fortunately or many children's covid has not been has impactful. They are some babies are insurance that are sick but by four unless we compared to adults we. Are Really lucky so far. So we're not going to spend the whole show on Kovin because frankly I think people wanted to know much more about your specialty, but maybe you could tell us a little about what kind of a regimen as C. H. L. A. Developed uniquely for this pandemic and what are some of the special things that you do at your hospital to manage this. A lot of it has to do with making sure that became screen families in staff when they arrive at the hospital in make sure that they're the environment for caring for the Germans you regardless of the reason why they're in the hospital is is optimal until the hospital has and significant resources to ensure that we screen families and visitors and parents when they arrive psychologically, how do you get your clientele to feel safe under these circumstances that has been Estonia As you can imagine a lot of families or speared to even go close to a hospital. So said, only our data's suggesting that we can provide a safest environment to bring Ren's and care for them, but it is a concern. Certainly, we can see that visit to the emergency room are significantly down obviously a lot of the outpatient clinic. I've had to restructure their environment, but I think that honest conversations with family in trying to make sure that. Children can get the care they need. So they don't have complications from their Biz orders diseases are we tried to do our best to get the message across near infected pregnant women? What percentage of the infection will affect the units? It depends how you define a fact neonates that we have not seen certainly in our area in each show drums or need neonates infected with the virus is very reports in the world literature. Around that, what we do see though is mother who gets sick with that of nineteen illness and systemic inflammatory response, and then for metro reason the the baby. Has To be delivered early, some more of a high risk delivery as opposed to neo natal issue for set right in. So premature babies that are born because the mother is sick is is something that we see are not sick with Kobe, but they have all the risks of complications from prematurely you use the term premature and for our listeners we think. We know what that means but can you define it at what level is it become a problem and I also understand that your hospital very often doesn't get the babies until there's a problem you just suddenly get a call that there's a need that's correct. What prematurity is is defining general and any a pregnancy debt is not reached thirty eight weeks but. Obviously, there are gradation of prematurity. In this country, we have made remarkable advances in support premature infants. Now, we care routinely for babies that delimit the viability that's around twenty two weeks gestation. So if four twenty, eight weeks, it's fair to say that those babies are the highest risk of complications after eight weeks. The outcomes in this country are really really good. What kind of complications do you deal with when it's actually ten weeks too early, there are lots of complication that those babies can be suggested to. They are complications involving the brain. So these baby's brain or very fragile own and they can have significant damages to to their brain. All the organs are augury fragile. The good news is that most babies do do quite well in in recover. Would we worry the most is obviously the Oregon's that damaged don't cover such as the brain or the is. By, far with the technology that we in this country, most babies do quite well. So I I watched one of your videos where.

sort of like a wrong contract no one's going to jail for this that's in the in the big ring of that and I'm wondering if he's going to resign so he doesn't have to testify on a call if you want to go to that dark place we can also go the darker place that that means that trump could probably a point and at an acting Attorney General like you did with Mr big ball toilet yeah yeah yeah and wealth me that somebody Pennsylvanians rely on those industries it it really is incredible the disease no question that every single one of the Democrats running for president wants to restart the war on coal the opposition to fracking the everything that we have done that his strength in the economy of Pennsylvania and strength and energy independence for the United States of America would be undone if if one of these Democrats made their way to the oval office with the president gets out of the Paris climate accord in in just made it clear that what we're gonna put America first we're gonna put American energy first in and I'll tell you what the the the fact that we're up for the first time in seventy years the United States is a net exporter of oil and natural gas should tell you everything you need to know about the difference this president is made for American energy and as far as part of the choice the people of Pennsylvania will face if you want to go back to the war on coal you got a whole bunch of Democrats running for president to be able to deliver that to you but I I promise you people across the keystone state know that this energy boom is driving this blue collar bone and we're gonna keep it going all all the way through four more years of president Donald Trump I think it's terrific Mister vice president how much you're focusing on Pennsylvania again people really appreciate it Sir thank you for being here today it means a lot really does a rich I appreciate your time and and your voice on the airwaves every day we are we are going to be back to Pennsylvania again and often Pennsylvania always plays an outsize role in national elections the Pennsylvania voted for a stronger more prosperous more secure America twenty sixteen that we have ever competence the people the keystone state are going to vote for four more years of president Donald Trump and twenty twenty thanks for your support let me ask you Mister vice president if I could the news about Mitt Romney I really just so incredibly frustrated by Mitt Romney's decision to announce a vote to convict the president it's this is been I I think one of the one of the really worst days for him personally I don't know what he's thinking here and I I it's a shame yeah I I don't get it and obviously we're disappointed but the good news is is that the president will be acquitted by the United States Senate in just a few short hours and and we think it's likely he'll be acquitted on a on a bipartisan basis because the members of the Senate and saw this with the exception of the Democrats about senator Romney the Republicans in the Senate and maybe a Democrat or to solve this for what it was this was a partisan impeachment there was was a preceded by a sham investigation where the president had no due process no right to call witnesses no no opportunity to cross examine in they ram this thing through before December when the American people could see the transcript they can they can see there was no quid pro quo the president did nothing wrong you crack got all the eight and I I expect those hard fact well the reason why the you know that the president will be acquitted in the Senate today and they will put this behind us I mean honestly you know this partisan impeachment is a great disservice to the country but seeing the president last night to the country but the credible progress was made in spite of not only his partisan impeachment but two and a half years of of a baseless accusation of Russia collusion Taylor was found by the justice department is no collusion no obstruction case closed I mean it just it just makes me even more proud of this president which was based on president opposition and been delivering every single day for the American Roger on the ticket and you know one last night the president pointed out the the young the baby at twenty one weeks old who was saved I you know we're in the in the middle right now of this amazing time in some of the hospitals here in Philadelphia right around the streets where I'm broadcasting from there doing incredible work with the you know young babies at preemies and and it's I was wonderful to hear the president knowledge that the science is there and that was that was terrific well the call for you know to me I I met that little girl and her mom and heard about the miracle baby that she was literally she literally wait I think eight ounces when she born and to see the miracle of science and god's grace that has that little girl now two years old and precocious of in the end healthy and happy but you know the president last night celebrated medical progress celebrated that family called for a historic investment in in neonatal research so we could save more lives but but then as the most pro life president American history he also took the moment to call on the conference call the Congress in the midst of all those medical advances also the band in late term abortion once and for all and I I promise your listeners this president this vice president this administration will always stand for right to life I have no doubts god bless you Mr vice president will tell me to have you back again yeah thanks in the U. located no whatever you do to the best of the rich the only show on talk radio twelve professional sports teams want the best players on the roster investors want the best stocks in their portfolios but how to everyday people know how to pick the right investments I'm ready.
