"When everything thing is flood when everything is slam flat. It's not hard to cut. I mean it's not hard to drop off. Your guy is stemmed past. I five yards. But guess what he's not going deep. You don't have to respect it. Did you see the one. Where Stefan Gilmore understands this mesh that we all like immediately? And it's just like I'm just going to serve I Jason's quarter in the first quarter. He runs underneath. You just didn't even turn around him. Why would they run anything else? I mean whenever you have a tight trips bunch with tight end of the point. It's a clear clear give for Mesh wheel. The Eagles love to run out of that formation. But still you know what I mean. So it's a two yard pass Zakar Zairean second today. I mean anytime negroes has gotten to behind the sticks Pont de Matter Palmer Penalty. You know what I mean. That's that's all that you were going to get so again. I said this is chicken and egg. You have really really basic play calls. We can only run x number of concepts. We're GONNA give Jordan Mathews Sixty four snaps eighty five percent of the snaps and so we can't come out here and run new things things we've installed even though we had him over the biweekly. I mean he's going to be limited as understanding of the playbook even with this familiarity which I want to get to his familiarity. Second we have Nelson Igor whatever's we're limited what we can run and then we have guys who can't win one on one on these routes and then we have Carson. Who did not play good? Football misthrows misreads mishandled the pocket. Did he do that because he's a bad football player or did he do that. Because the context around him was about as bad as it's ever gotten and he was working really hard to try to account for all in one place. He's prone to deal if you've watched the eagles for the past couple of years you're more more likely to say the second one though. There are some who apparently watched eagles every week. We think it's the first one he gets Carson's not a good football player. I think that's bananas And is hogwash. But that's the stacey back to the bye week framework. We kept on getting the whole like wool. These seven weeks will tell us about who carson wentz is a quarterback. I really already know. Guards must've quarterback I feel comfortable title saying that because I predicted he was going to have this ball game. If I may take a moment in to my own horn you and I both said Hey we know Carson. He's probably GONNA play bad and he played bad. Because we know the quarterback is corvettes Salata baffle ball game. And A and a and it's like told you bend the context surrounding it. I told Mark Scofield before the Dallas game and I told him before this game. These feel like bad games coming up for once now how much you want to be concerned about that being too predictable how much we can predict that. It's still a problem. We also understand the like the Y.. And it's not because he's a bad football player because the surrounding situation from it and he can't rise himself above that right now really. That's why I'm not very hopeful that he is going to look special for the rest of the season because of that context and that's fine I mean I have a longer outlook on Carson than just this one game and the other the other framework that drives me nuts is like well of course and played better. The Eagles would a one. I agree I absolutely agree. Here's the really interesting though. If you go and you look at Oh. I don't know every every single week. Eleven game that was played in the NFL. If the losing quarterback played better the team probably would've okay in Texans Texans Ravens Shawn Watson loss forty one to seven. Yeah yeah probably like. If the Sean played like Pea to Sean they still could lost that game. Raves put forty one on memorial plan. Some good ball is Shawn Watson a good quarterback no 'cause he was batting in some regions. Right you Braga Bridge every game. Yeah if all of these losing quarterbacks did better than they did their team were the better so when you say if Carson Wentz play better deals with one you're saying absolutely lutely nothing you're saying losing football teams tend to play worse than winning football teams and the most important player is the quarterback. I could not agree more so again. I don't really think you're saying anything. So chicken and egg three factors. We have bad weapons we have a poor four Carson wentz performance and we have play calling that is is is very basic which started this all. I would argue a begins with having really bad receivers but you really can't like you can make a case for case for all Free Carson missed his receivers Carson missed open Nelson Igor three or four times. 'cause miss opened my collins badly. Second Dr Right now so okay you okay solve them but these are the three factors were dealing with here. What did this end up? distilling itself into caution looked at one player and if he did not have one player open he bailed and this is what this is why. The Eagles passing offense obsolete was awful because they never got any backside digs. They never got any backside slants lance. They never got any backside. Deep comebacks from Sean Jeffrey. That Rao went out the freaking window. Nobody else can run it. Apparently there's no progression as offense. It was were hoping I mean. This guy gets open pre-snap Yup numbers game leverage game. If he doesn't oh just sit in the pocket pooper pants which is on the play calling receivers in parts on Carson again. This is an interdependent. Units the offense so that was the name of the game for me from the passing offense all of this going to say it was a highly successful best week for the eagles offense because out sap mackall so never mind forget everything I said. That was a victory. We win. Good things happen. So let's let's talk about some of those one re type things because his play that you highlighted on twitter and this is something that eh I also put on twitter as well as criticism of Wentz and this is something that was very well covered By the by the Patriots at least the primary read was. We're talking. I could but I mean this. This stuff popped up very early in the game first. Quarter Thirteen fifty at second and eight when the New England twenty four this right would stall out and only get a field goal all in part because they did not execute on this place. So what you're going to get now. Let Ben Elaborate on his. Take on this. But I'll set the framework here. You'RE GONNA get trips to the left. You'RE GONNA run double China's seven shock dusty. Whatever you WANNA call it basically the number three in the in the innermost slot? Lot Is Dallas Goddard. He's GONNA run a corner out and they're going to be two routes the outside of him that are going to hold the underneath defenders normally. I've seen wentz throw this corner out like all of the like against man coverage one on one this is money in and their state coverage but there is a window to throw this to gutter but this is not where the play is ever going to go because there there is an audible. There's a check that that whence makes that is going to send Mile Sanders on a wheel route and this is going to be covered very well by Kyle van Noy who squeezes eases this route to the sideline sanders like out of bounds. By the time he By the time he basically looks up for the ball so this this was never going to come off also was never going to come off was Carson Wentz off of this read because like I said he's got guys open he's got Zach ertz coming open against define Gilmore on a quick dig route. So there's places for wants to go with this ball but he never comes off. This is one read on throwing this no matter what and ends up being incomplete two miles sanders. This was a play that I marked negatively for Wentz. Ben I I think he did the same. And then you add some context in your twitter video as well. What do you want to say about this place? Basically so I agree that there was space to look at this flat route to look at those flat until we arrive. Because Santa's fakes the flat like Calvin noise really much better position Asian than I thought he was going to be right and come off and try to work backside so I agree my issue with herbs and this goes back to play design and Carson in the pocket. Is that if you wanna hit either of these throws open actually also goes to personnel as well. You have to rhythm it right so so you you you. You can't can't come second reading her. 'cause it's a outbreaking route against inside leverage. You can't come late to this. It's going to be too close to the sideline any of the corner plan the ball all ask Carson Wentz throated Jordan Mathews in the second quarter where Dr come late to a flat seven rout against copper to and there's no more space I see what what you're saying because at the top of the drop number one. He's holding the safety for a reason because he wants that safety to stick in the middle of the field at the top of his drop. If he's going to hit Godart he can't look to his right to Chuck Sanders first to see that. Levers that Benoy has and I also think you can make the same case with Zach Arts in that. If you're going to hit this you're going to need to rhythm commit because vice personnel. IRT Is not going to Outrun Stefan Gilmore so urge breaks. He's got separation as a throwing window right when he breaks. But if you try to come late to this is gonNA close on it because Gilmore's faster than soccer Geneva Blue Ball so if you want these rats you have to rhythm them and when I say rhythm what what but I should probably define that term three step drop patients rotten. There's no I looked to the right side. I don't like every fee I come back. That's we're on. We're now reading. Were progressing into our reads. You have to make this throw in rhythm in high. It's all going to be with within one hitch. I agree on on the double China. If you're throwing a garnered it's got to be top of the drop one hitch it's out. I agree with that. Which is why and the thing about the the row is that it's keyed? It's alerted to the corner letting go of him to Eat Up Sanders wheel round right. That's what that rounds Fort. So if once you gilmore run with it you're thinking you're going to have sanders release deep now the issue here where I grade wait. When's negative illness? Play is that he expects one of the two inside linebackers to take sanders. This is the advantage of this wheel. Route is the linebackers I worked through the traffic of Zachary route and then he has to all of a sudden realise. Santa's faking the flat going off field. He's gotTa flip gotta run but the Patriots. When wentz checks Jamie Collins checks with Kyle van Noy and what sanders free releases to the flat Kyla knowing who was gonNA rush peels off the cover sanders and Jamie Collins who was responsible for sanders? Russia's is this essentially like to buy one 'cause I sutra.

"I don't necessarily want to make that show about that about some of the calls that were missed. Obviously the Mile Sanders regattas head turn around was just ugly. Here's what here's here's what's fascinating to me about that nick. I don't know says legit question if somebody knows he's an answer for me. What are you watching on a kick return? I mean the Guy Seven there seven Evan a umpires on the field referees. Excuse me on the field. There's maximum ten blocks occurring and a lot of happening in a very similar area so you can probably like I watch a couple of times pretty condensed or if you're a Red Ryan you go I can see this guy's name plate and I can also see his face mask. Maybe there's a problem. It's just like actions. It's just like the reason I ask is like the the second Nelson Igor touchdown where there was a penalty flag thrown for off its pass interference that it was picked up yeah why was it picked up Woah because the field judge threw it from the back right corner of the end zone while the line judge was staring dragging down the line of scrimmage. He's going to be the one to know the line judge. If a a little screen play pick play rub play whatever you WANNA call it happened beyond one yard to make it illegal so the fields through it and then the rest conferred the line judge who has is a much better angle probably has like you know precedents like the first call on that penalty said unequivocally. No I saw it was within one yard. It's legal in that's why they picked it up. I would imagine they have different assignments in different ways. I would imagine on a kickoff return. One dues job is probably behavior. Just watch the return because really not that much just going on in this play this past place offense of line. We have to watch a bunch of different routes going to a bunch of different places. We have to watch the quarterbacks if you get hit right. There's a whole like the the head is just a wash quarterback. Gets it right so you assume there would be a guy there whose John Lewis. I guess I don't know somebody was in front of him. So we know that was a penalty. What did you think think about the other ones? What did you think about the I mean you're going to know where I stand on these? But what did you think about the block. In the back from Malcolm Jenkins on the blocked field goal return and the push shaw from our offensive pass writers from Darren sproles honestly do and I said this on twitter and I and I think it was a penalty actually pretty sure it was a penalty pushed off but that was like the tiniest offensive pass interference. I've ever seen who the guy like that pushing you off your expense president you off. The catch points. Odd of the three offers passing occurrences is which yeah that's a whole you know opening clause. That's that's a thing of the three offense of fashion appearances that happened for Philadelphia Vye. I do wonder how many would have occurred if there wasn't a renewed interest in pass interference in general as a thing in the U. Verse. That's right like you know what I mean like now. OPIE is challenge and they you know they if if if I put it this way if he doesn't call it the defensive coach can throw a flying but you should have called the Pi. They're more willing to call it. Maybe I don't know but yeah I mean it was with roles was it probably Oh. Pi Yes that's something we've seen never call it before yeah all the time safety Malcolm Jenkins. You know what I mean like. I forget there's there's somebody in in some prominent person in coaching who said this. I don't remember who does things like some old retire car coach. There isn't a kickoff return for a touchdown in the history of NFL without one block in the back. She's a question of how agreed to sit wasn't wearing it happen. You know what I mean and obviously with Jenkin Jiang. He's just running. Jacobs running full speed stops today. Karadzic was back at the block in the back was Jenkins like with his hands out tracking now. He's random in the back but that's that's called the Those things don't bother me too much fourth and fifteen carsoup. What's a very casual ball on Jayjay? I'll take a wide size hand at the one yard so she didn't matter the eagles. Get get the ball outside of fuel rate of infant will range of course went to the very capital Vol AMAC Hollandse hands on second and ten in field goal range mattered. I saw that take a lot from people in terms of individuals have the ball and field goal range the panic outfielder range onto the fifty first and ten second intend third and ten fourth and five fifteen there was criticism. I saw from like why did illegal just make sure they got a first down all buddy. They tried to Mac all catch football right right and then once you're on third down. You're absolutely playing for more manageable fourth-down so yeah there you go Is that doesn't bother me. The game scripting wise doesn't bother me. I thought the offense of game plan was really strong in terms of the play offs and that was used for the eagles to generate the amount of intermediate windows that they did. I should say really short windows that weren't too many enemy passes but for them to generate the short middle of the field winners did without a deep threat was impressive. you know they they they really did not attempt the too deep for the mile sanders throws right and then the Arctic whiteside drop yeah but really for the majority of the game the only throw zero threatening deep to reduce sanders sanders running back and they were really effective at opening up those interior windows on the good job manipulating the lines linebackers anticipated eagles put twenty four points on the board despite getting giving up two turnovers and that was a good offensive output from stem discern only like three times and so it's I I was generally good performance by the offense is the scheming gaming with gunshot. Carson played really well off the line. I don't think really struggle that much. I think Carson's responsible for a lot of the pressures that he was under especially late early in the game when they're dropping eight and rushing three you gotta just standing in the pocket you gotTa You can't can't be moving off your spot that quickly 'cause you're just going to put your your life. In a bad place. Ivanka Arts Against Dallas Guard stands out as God or had him locked up and Carson just climbed pocket and like all right. I'M GONNA go sack you out and there's nothing goner can do goddess in-space gets an outside linebacker. If Carson moves off spot God. It's going to be in the wrong location. Something cars ask element understand pocket presence. Yeah pocket presence remains the biggest weakness for me. Of course he's got amazing escape ability but he makes pockets horror. You're than they should be for himself. I agree and speaking of God or what about got hurt in this is like something that didn't really matter but I think it does because I intend Detroit twenty six six thirty nine thirteen left the eagles are downtown. The Eagles run doubled China's seven and we can do this on the film review but you know you have the have trips to the left. You've got the two in breaking routes from on the outside and Goddard's running a corner out and gets one on one with I believe that's fifty two. I forget the numbers right there but got her perfect thrill all right on his hands drops ball in the endzone perfect. Throw can't can't ask for anything else from Carson Wentz in that situation now the eagles eventually get a touchdown but it happens two minutes two minutes later when you're downright who scores in the fourth quarter less than ten minutes to go. How much does that two minutes matter so even that drop itself wasn't without big consequences because the game scripting changes in that situation and you might have a chance at another drive at that ball's not drop those those little drops those those little things right there Ricardson should have had seven right there were deceived him to extra minutes to get back in this ball game and of course much matter a great deal a lot what could happen after that and that's a whole butterfly effect thing in different things happening and whatnot so we can't know but like even the small stuff that a lot of people aren't even talking about are just just killing his team and just and I don't know what's going on with them? They got to get out of their own head and they're gonNA. They're just gonNA play ball it. Just it just seems like something that is not just one person. It's not just Nelson Elson Abdur it's Dallas Goddard and it's an it's back hollins in its Darren sproles putting off getting penalized in his knuckle Jacobs getting a unfortunate colonies running full speed at at a guy with his back turned. It's just wild and that's the unfortunate things to that lead to bad losses against decent teams like the lines and I told you coming into this and I don't WanNa play the told us oh thanks. I really don't care. I'm not proud of that at all but like the lines game this game worried me more than I thought it would ever breaking down the film and the Lions I think held up into the bargain and played some decent football. We knew it'd be calling us right. I think that that's one of my other big takeaway. Things is like the eagles lost the lions and much like the Falcons game they had a lot of opportunities to win it and should have but did they didn't unlike the Falcons game. We knew coming in that. This team was depleted like alshon initiatives. The easy thing to talk about the team is still missing Komo. It's missing timmy. Jernigan Jackson is missing jalen mills and then suddenly lost Ronald Darby starting players all across the board toward the Eagles are missing Dallas Goddard played but barely took any snaps had one target clearly wasn't healthy. He was running six offense alignment instead of putting him in the clearly. The capstone attached to his hands but I get what you're saying right yeah. I'm just saying I can get one. One target was bad drop but got her on day in which the Eagles wide receiver one wide receiver to a healthy daughter gets more than one absolutely and I was expecting more twelve and laying off of it if he was gonna be healthy but he wasn't on the Eagles I touchdown drive. They had seven offense alignment unblocking with Alex Ellis's the full back in Dallas Carter on the sideline you've gone it was healthy on the silent for that said God Joe by by the way how about them. I'm just deciding instead of wait until the third quarter to go on the second drive in the first quarter to go with heavy personnel and decide that they're going to run the ball and something just clicks with this office of line when the coaches go to them. Hey rubbing in the heavies. Let's go take over this game. It was to happen like once a game every game. Why can't we just do more of that? I don't understand Stan I it's so weird I think I I I have take that is not formed and I have not checked it and it's.

"Is roy any situation like i said the only situation i'm comfortable with is if the rumors about it being like a third or fourth because the texans had no leverage and cloudy will sign a deal of one year deal with us which i really doubt. That's the only situation i'm comfortable with. Is there any situation that you you see happening where the eagles get this done and you'll be okay with it is like a rock and a hard place and signs of like you're not sending a one too much once you start getting below a three and below four. It's weird because the texans won't recoup a compensatory selection from cloudy hitting free agency unless unless he plays on don't quote me on that. I'm seventy eight percent shore right <unk>. You can't hold out for a whole year and then he free agency and get paid and they they get a compaq. I'm pretty sure you have to actually play accents. The the the whole i mean no i know i'm right because if he doesn't plan to the tag this reset right like he he's gotta go back the use of his rights okay so yeah so that's kind of your rock and a hard place. I posit that like my asking price. Bring to the table as listen the base of ideals. Hi deals going to be a third if you want nelson idle or if you want you know they say they want outta wide receiver the stable okay. If you want nelson igor nelson igor author. Let's talk about uh anything else. You want from draft. Capitalize has got to be either conditional accelerator or completely conditional runs of i'm guaranteeing that he's playing for me and i get playing significance significant snaps for me and this is specifically for philadelphia <hes> because of because of the the amount of bodies that are there you also have injury history protect yourself from that a little bit as well i will saying this is a critical no not something. I think you said incorrectly just something that i want. I want to specify go for if they trade for david clowney then it is super bowl or bust. I agree agree. <hes> we have to be careful with to be cautious of assuming the converse is true which i saw on the internet today like you know if the eagles really were all about the super bowl they would trade for today cloudy. This is a great team by the way this is a top three consensus team by media analysis smart people outside of the philadelphia area. I agree with you. This isn't like exciting throwing their hands up next year. I want to know where to eagles offer for tom. Brady was this off season then. You know what i mean if they really wanted to win. Why aren't they getting the winning score. That's the the thing you know what i mean like agree at like thinking about like golden tate right like when it was going to the eagles passing offense is going to be fixed 'cause. They've had to take the issue with that. Is you still need to integrate. You still need to handle getting him. Vote now offense for clients involved in the defense.

"On this coming obviously very much more active in recent years would think is a lot of fun you manipulate com pick formula stuff like that you know as we know how he did with Golden Tate last year on but the eagles with Nelson Igor on his fifth year radio his fifth year option unlikely to be retained given the state of the wide receiver and tight end rooms the potential. Maybe get something back for him for team who likes his value as willing to extend him in wants to secure him before he hits free agency. You'RE GONNA have a ton of corners and hopefully hopefully by week eight week nine when the trade deadline is you're GonNa know who your actual starters are so you're going to have some young is simply. Just don't have a potential to be starting this year their potential guys who go on the block as well. The trade deadline is objectively a ton of fun and Philadelphia's office in like a competing position and let's say Josh Sweat isn't really stepping up. Let's say that you know they lose. You Know God forbid like some you know Brandon Brooks they lose Brandon Brooks. He's not able to come back for the Rangers and they want to add some guard death like when you have that one whole left that may keep you from being a super bowl competitor trade deadline. You have some movable young pieces on the really deep positions of your team. Now you can go get that one veteran who never got his ring. Who's just on a losing team? You bring him in you. Shore up that last spa bond then you feel comfortable going into the playoffs and so the eagles are always you anticipate them kind of begin active trade deadline team but this year especially given the winning window and the young that they have. I like are very comfortable saying they're going to be active during the trade deadline baseball baseball truly it is awful. I'm phillies writer. "DOC seat to and we can extrapolate the south tonight into because akers takes a ton of snaps at at at the slot we think of him as a wide receiver most of the time is he is going to an Elliott Chris brought this point up when I talked with him for fireside chats kind of preview Malik for the Eagles. This is going to take a step back in into the into the shadows as Dallas Qatar and Zakar. It's they have twelve personnel but it spread it doesn't look like while personnel and then also is that going to impact him in the red zone with J._J.. Are whiteside is going to end up getting more snaps as they they tried to develop him especially in the second half of the season like I'm fascinated to see because those projections between Galore and white ciders are so tight for clay and I don't necessarily think he's wrong and you know Galore guy but just seeing the way that that there is an obvious path offer J._J.. To get production that rivals glory my opinion right and it comes back down to and you made this point really well what personnel gels the best integrates the best on the field because you you're you're returning alshon on earth who are GonNa stay on the field for ninety. Five percent of your offensive snaps right is right egg yup within its first year Sean Jackson First Year <hes> Jessica Whiteside second-year Dallas Qatar but got her many believe <unk> including us as we you know we were kind of head of his train. A little bit has earned his his role in terms of receiving the football and the offense okay so you've got you've got to figure that all out and I don't want to say the odd man out is Nelson Galore but but among the three returners Alshon Erz Hagler man you WanNa keep Alshon and arts on the field Nellie La and I made this point during the season last year when I talked about the fact that I don't think that the picking up the fifth year option for it also orbits a good idea. Everybody's got their big. You Know Nelson Igor like you know he had his breakout year. In two thousand seventeen new eagles on the super bowl he would significantly better catch ray and he's turning out more yards per catch and he had eight touchdowns in that was great but because as you know touchdowns lied you touchdowns regression number touchdowns not sticky Igor had basically the same season not exactly became really close to the same season in two thousand eighteen to twenty seventeen just minus two touchdowns touchdowns in everybody's tune on him change pretty quick and the thing is I just don't know like Agoura was ninety seven targets sixty four receptions in two thousand eighteen seven hundred thirty six yards. Those numbers are as close as you're going to get to his twenty seventeen numbers number two more targets to more receptions about twenty eight last yards. I mean that's right there. Cash rate slightly increased yards per game forty eight versus forty six. I mean like you know he's very similar. Production that right there seven hundred fifty so receiving yards ninety five targets a game so that's basically you know about six targets game flat. That's probably hagler ceiling..

"It's just does not make sense when you look at other wide receiver contracts, and we're kind of doing this within in Mike this week where you fit Nell snag or in. He's kinda in that like Danny amendola reins of about like six million per year somewhere in there. And right now, he's at nine point four as like overpaid by at least three million dollars kinda here. That's that's significant. That's not nothing. You kind of set it. What do you actually have in Snyder? It's tough. I don't know what to think he was so good. I felt like in two thousand seventeen such useful player and there's some flashes of that last year. But when you're looking at the metrics in not saying DR, which is our D Y A R. I should say is a perfect metric perfect stats from football outsiders. But I mean, you look at it. And he's he's finishing almost bottom of the category at of wide receivers in every year except you seventeen when he was thirty second at eighty six the other years or like eight hundred eighty eight eighty eight at a ninety four and then seventy eighty four so it's just it's not great. And when I even like prior to looking at those numbers, I've kind of been thinking in my head. Okay. So with Nelson Igor we kind of have one good year in three not so great years. Like, so what are you paying a guy like that? What I mean, are you paying him just for that one year? That's my concern too. And I think that's that's probably there's like you can't if I'm signing Nagla. I hope I'm not. Paying for the two thousand seventeen guy because that's not what you know I've gotten for him, so far I don't wanna be paying just for that. I wanna be paying for the whole, you know, everything own be paying for the struggles to. So that needs counted into the quays in Kansas be like while there's really good year in two thousand seventeen. So you'd better pay for that. Like, no, it doesn't work to me. It shouldn't work like the I'm not paying for that. I need to be paying for a guy who has struggled as well in the price should reflect that you should be reasonable. It should be see should not be making some like huge surprisingly big deal should be making. I think he's getting a contract that we all say, oh that's pretty fair her. Oh, that's actually a bargain. I think that's really what it should be given the way he's been inconsistent. And he struggled at times. So yeah, I mean, this the problem is you kinda highlighted if you move on from us that lower the only wide receivers you have under contact our sons every Matt Holland's Shelton Gibson. And then if you want to count all those guys on future contracts, like Braxton, Miller, whatever who knows certainly aren't even guaranteed to make the roster like. That's all you have. So it's not great. You don't who's even your receiver there? I don't know. I mean, you could re-sign Jordan Mathews, potentially a guess like, I don't really see that happening. I guess in you brought up Tate in again. He's going to be thirty years old. Apparently he wants to go play. The Tom Brady said interview this week. Yeah. Right. I saw I don't I don't really know. I don't really think that's happening..

"Wentz through a handful an uncharacteristically large amount of deep interceptions this year. Will he was throwing a lot into double coverage is getting overlapped by safeties. And when you're not getting the one on coverage you want down the field. Then you're throwing your downfield throws or going to be into tougher coverages that like in that mindset in that ilk. I want you to turn your books if you're following along on game pass a one it's going to be eight minutes and forty seconds in. It is a second and five from the twenty one yard line. And it's going to be a sack this will play where Nick foles get sacked. And what you see happen. Here is Philadelphia's coming out in a formation that they love a great deal. They've got two tight ends will ace wing sort of set with your wide receivers split either side of the formation out Sean Jeffrey right now is is late backside. It is an unbalanced set. Mike running back to tight ends and Nelson I will otherwise receiver all to one side of the field, alshon, Jeffery to the other. But against his unbalanced set, you'll see that. At Washington comes out with cone coverage over top of Sean, Jeffrey, they have a corner underneath him. And they have a safety on top of him. She Houston did this a lot against the eagles too. Yeah. Right. And number one is shows you the Jeffries receiving that level of respect the defenses. Great news, Philadelphia. It's gonna help open things up when you have two guys covering one guy. The other guys are man on man coverage now, and it wasn't happening last year. This is a fairly new development with Jeffrey. And the way the defenses are treating him on the backside y so for sure and you can you can go right to the fact that on third downs. If Nick foles has one on one coverage with L, Sean Jeffrey, let me tell you where the ball is going. He just looks at it. If foles walks to the line, and he sees cover one potential blitz. Five six letters and Alcyone is isolated man on man. Impress fan coverage. Nichols stands at the line. Looks at also Jeffrey looks back and snaps the football because he's just letting Sean know listen be larger than the other people on the field. That's just basically what it is this situation where Shawn's. Getting cone coverage will that allows Philadelphia to get Nelson Igor one on one against a Corrina deep. Third the middle safety steps up to handle Zakar coming across the middle of the field. Washington has to remain in this cover three sort of a look this pattern metro of a look because Philadelphia so willing to send crossers across the middle and the short areas of the field. So if you try to play full man on man coverage here on balanced, set four four over one. You're gonna have linebackers chasing tight ends into very empty areas of the field right thing about if there's one man on Jeffrey, and he and Jeffries clears deep within there's nobody in that flack as all the other offense of weapons which the other side of the field. So that forced into his own coverage. They're forced pattern match to watch for the crossers earth pulls of the middle of the field safety. Adler is free and clear down the field. This is the exact sort of a similar look that he got against her on that scored eighty three yard touchdown against the Texans and huge play foles doesn't pull the trigger on this one. I think he could have. Have a great step, but he did have space. He's not necessarily even Lieven. But foles this is like a full like he he kinda he kinda pumps it. Like, he once it. You know what I mean? Yeah. Until you looks not the Senate he ends up taking three yard sack. I wish you would essentially I think he could have gotten it that being said, this is a great example of how when you're cognizant of the cross was Philadelphia's going to send and you're worried about Al Sean Jeffrey one on one weights vary are there. Philadelphia's come out unbalanced sets, which I saw way more unbalanced sets again unbalanced four receiving options to one side of the field..

"And then I'll Sean Jeffrey gonna get a lot of janoris Jenkins who he can't cover anyone. He's allowed seven touchdowns this season second-most yards among all Cornerbacks. Mike Evans dusted him last week in. I think that Sean Jeffrey will do the same. So they finally moved golden Tate into the full-time slot role last week against the saints. He led the team and targets and receiving you not that translated too much. But I think that you can use him now as a wide receiver three Nelson Igor moved outside zero catches. He's not an outside receiver. This trade is not going well for the eagles. I mean, it really hasn't gone. Well for the lions either like a lose lose trade. At least the lions get a third round pick next year. But. I mean, it is translated to less playing time for Dallas Goddard who's been one of their most efficient players. Good blocker, you know, good receiver. They're twelve personnel package has was one of the most effective personnel packages in the league. And you know, now, they're using not less. It's like the front office and the coaching staff for nine on the same page like the front office just felt like it was it had to make a move of some kind. And now the eagles coaching staff feels compelled to you know, have to jam in golden Tate at the expense of their own offense and production. That's that's problematic. Josh Adams been talking about him for weeks a hat got a pick em up. You know, it's probably a little late now. But this is a really good spot for him. They started use them in the passing game last week it didn't necessarily go. Well, but I will take six targets. You know? I'll take sixteen routes run from him. He he was the only source of offense against the saints with that big touchdown run early on. And then of course, they had to move away from him couldn't hang onto the ball fell behind. I don't think they're going to be doing that in this game. And giants are not fear. Fearsome run defense by any means, Josh Adam solid Rb to we can move onto the next one. Next one is the last one here in episode one the last of the Sunday, one o'clock games. It's the Niners Nick Moen's against the bucks or going back to famous James. Kind of a kind of a sneaky fund one here, you know, James can light it up. But I think that the play in this game is actually Ryan Fitzpatrick. So genus Winston is likely to throw multiple interceptions in the first half. Ryan Fitzpatrick comes off the bench leads the buccaneers to a near comeback loss with four touchdowns. So you know, I know he's not starting. But I think he got a play Ryan Fitzpatrick in this game Peyton barber as a home favorite playing against the forty Niners four hundred actually been all right in run defense, but pain barber. I was worried about his ankle entering last week's game. He you really took back the the fulltime back rains from jock quiz Rogers. And he is I think he's a good bet for eighteen plus touches a home favourite against San Francisco. Oh, not gonna catch passes. Does not have a great floor to give you upside. He's gonna need to score a touchdown. But you know, this is one of the best situations that that he's going to get Peyton barber as a low end Rb to high end flex play against the Niners James comes back in last week and Mike Evans comes back to life. He did luck out with a fumble recovery. Touchdown but James hit hit him for a long touchdown bomb. Love to see that Mike Kevin's runs. Most of his routes away from Richard Sherman field. Richard Sherman lines up the left corner. Ninety eight percent of the time. And Mike Evans, usually lines up. Elsewhere on the field, actually, d Jack's gets most of the routes in rich Richard sherman's direction, but Mike ivins. That means a lot of Callow Witherspoon, and that's a great matchup for any wide receiver. Kella Witherspoon is a guy to attack McCain in week out OJ Howard out for the season paid to see that man..

"Wentz in eagles fans. Golden Tate to me was the most impactful edition that any team made. They were so thin at wide receiver. They're not getting good production out out of Nelson Aguilar, and they never found a third receiver. And I think Howie Roseman said it well in his press conference they're going for it. They are in their championship window. I see no reason why they can't get it going in the second half of the season. Golden Tate was the lions leading receiver in yards and receptions this year. He's a thousand yards ninety catches every single season. And it's just gonna make that offense which has not been very explosive harder to defend Nelson Igor is a little bit of an interesting case to me because he seems to really make the leap last year and came on as a difference maker that offense and he did go extremely quiet when alshon Jeffery was out. He. I didn't step up and he just hasn't had the same impact on his offense. That's a fair point. He hasn't had a good year. And he's been in the league with three or four years now and he's had one good year. Right. He's not gonna lose snap. So be on the outside more entail. Probably be on the inside. I think it's just gonna make their their rotation especially when they go four receivers, and you have Erz and got her it just gives them a lot more options and called and Tate's one of the best slot receivers. And football has been for years. Nothing's changed. One of the best free agent signings in lions history checked with patronize you said. Yeah, there's no doubt. I mean, he's one of the better free agent signings in the NFL the last decade thirty two years old exactly for a win now team which eagles certainly are. He's a he's a perfect fit for them on pace for one hundred receptions and twelve hundred yards west. What do you got? How about winter? Here's a winner. NFC NFC, east fever. Let's have a pennant race baby. Nice. They're all like, you know, the Amari Cooper the Cowboys made that trade the eagles. Make the golden Tate trade the Redskins answer with ha ha Clinton. Six I think the biggest weakness in their secondary was probably the safety next to DJ swear, injure who's having an all pro type of year, Montaigne Nicholson. So they move him out of the starting lineup. Put Clinton Dixon there. You're five and two Redskins are rolling. That's one of the benefits of being a division. That's wide open. Because if you're in the NFC west, you might be thinking, well, we're not gonna win the division here with the Rams above us. But everyone in the east, and it's a nice surprise at the Redskins are at the top of this thing right now when I fully counted the mouth before the year that they're all around, and we're going to go you always get all these NFC east primetime games down the stretch, which can be a high annoyance if the teams royally suck. But instead they're all sort of in the mix and why not as long as we don't get any giants. I think we have one Jerry is there there is the case of the giant. You could almost maybe enjoy the massive calamity unfurling there. That's fair unfurling for a few year, not even fun as a calamity though. They're just the boring watch. How about a winner from you? Mark Cessna a winner for me is. Anyone any Phanor analyst who wants it both ways because you can look at the Dante Fowler move and say, you know, what the Jaguars won that deal because they fair enough. They dumped they dumped his salary. They got rid of a guy that they're not fully on board with. And it's a great move that they got something back for Dante Fowler. But at the same time, we can say, wow, the Rams filled this need for this edge rusher. And we can look past the fact that he was essentially a bust in Jacksonville and say this is exactly what Los Angeles needs to go to the Super Bowl. So this is that time where we can cook it up either way and say, yes, my argument is correct..

"That usually takes twelve months to fully heal at Carson Wentz to be honest, hasn't really been the problem. It's injuries to the receiving core. We saw alshon Jeffery return, and we saw what the the difference at that made. We saw Jordan Mathews, make very nice catch Nelson Igor had a very rough game against Tennessee and it's going to it's going to bring back the memories of the Nelson Aguilar that we had before the Super Bowl team last year. But let's be honest. Or two into. It's not that big of a deal. We're in a division that is very mediocre. The Cowboys barely squeaked by needed a last second field goal to beat the Detroit Lions. The New York Giants are a giants or a complete mess. They're complete mess the Washington Redskins. Like I mentioned in episode one or two where our biggest, our biggest threat at this current time, but the team itself just needs to get healthy. They need to get that groove back. That's all them dominate throughout parts of the regular season. Last year, let guys get reps together Corey Clement when he's back in their mixed with j. j. is that perfect foil that we're talking about catching the ball out of the backfield being able to beat more effective than just that up. The middle runner don't even bring in sproles because he was a non factor last year due to injury, and it feels like it's going to be the same this year when Dell small would has been more than serviceable. As your third running back. And I honestly like what I've seen of Josh Adams, it's, it's. Tough to overreact to a two and two record when when we're coming off a Super Bowl title. Okay. Let's just start this off with enough of the fake news. Gregory enough of the lies and the mischaracterization the Washington Redskins topic was in episode three. If we can't trust you to recap what episode things about, why should we listen to anything else you have to say, look, we know that bell plans to report to the Steelers during their week seven by, but that doesn't mean the Steelers aren't still looking to deal may SAP they are that relationship is damaged past the point of fixing, it's time to step in and it's time to take advantage of that in a year where the eagles have a second, a pair of second round picks. It makes perfect sense to deal one of them and a later pick to Pittsburgh for a player, talented enough divulge right back into the criminal cram of Super Bowl contenders. Are they going to go up Brandon Graham? No, nor should they Brandon? Graham is probably by himself right now more valuable than Levy on bell just because this past Rauscher versus running. Back. That's absurd. That's the. It's not even worth talking about. But you know, when you have a guy like Marshall Faulk traded for a two and a four, it's very reasonable to think the.

"As these two teams matchup against each other. And this is a rematch of that of that divisional game last year where the falcons can move the ball at all. At all. So if you're thinking, I mean, obviously, if you think Matt Ryan, maybe stay away from that if you're thinking, obviously, no, no, no, Carson Wentz is going to be Nick foles Nick foles honestly, if he's healthy, I think he's all right. He came back. All right, but didn't look that great against the Browns in that preseason came against the Browns. So we'll see fares against this Atlanta defense, which is might be kind of interesting. Secondary is work in progress. They got some good pass rushers. They got some good linebackers. So the flack they fly around a lot, but they do have a tendency to get a lot of point give up a lot of points at a certain point you saw last year. Actually the game lost last year. I would to the playoffs, not indication, but you know, sometimes it can get some shoot outs. And if Matt Ryan is not on his game, timing's off, it can be a long day for Thakin's, especially going up to Philadelphia against the defending Super Bowl champion. So mean just going roster on roster that both very, very talented guy. Calvin Ridley. Now in in Atlanta, you got. Trying to think who is are really any new faces in Philadelphia. In fact, they do toy Smith is gone. You still got Jaffer on Nelson lorries still got jacquards still got Cory Clementi's j.j I, I mean, there's lots of lots lots of options there. So if you're looking at just guys is to start by love, Corey climent. Always. I mean, the thing is maybe maybe stay only reason. I would think maybe stay away from him. This this week is because the athleticism of the linebacking core for the falcons fly around and they're really good. So I would maybe think about that. Look, look, rejections, look who else you got on as an option as a pass. Catching back if Europe maybe just go form anyways because he's gonna. He's gonna catches as you see him in full house, some good, good, good route combinations already built up the side in the Super Bowl happened. So we'll or maybe on Thursdays. Well, I love also Jeffrey and love. An love Nelson Igor as well. So those both those guys you can keep on then this this weekend for this far as the goes without gains, maybe Calvin relief. You're thinking about starting him as we stay away. The eagles secondary is really, really good. They got Jalen mills. They got Malcolm Jenkins, they, they'll mess around. They have very good secondary Julio Jones. I mean, I'm not gonna tell you not start Halil Jones. You're gonna start. Julio Jones is fine, but Calvin relief, you did pick him up. Maybe later in the draft, maybe somebody else. I mean, hopefully hopefully maybe another option. Receiver. So as far as goes and the devante Freeman. I, he's a flex player at best for me and just in general. Not not that high on him except he's had flashes of greatness except now is co- the coach that made him really good is no longer there. So I mean college Jan Hans in San Francisco, he's not. He's not in Atlanta anymore. That's that was the I that that devante made that made a really good team. They have in Coleman. So I mean, if you if you want to try and go, go after him, go after him, but or start me starting them stop. Falcon, Philly defense is it's tough to justify start any prefer any like perfect player basically, not Julio Jones. It's tough, start them against the defense because they're pretty nasty. I wouldn't start Matt Ryan either. I mean, if you picked him at Ryan. Find another one. Stafford, Philip rivers been Rothlisberger, Matt, Ryan's, just he's so hit or miss. Sometimes those hill throw some bad interceptions as well from time to time. All right. Going back to. That's actually good. We're taking. I'm gonna take. We're going to take our good due diligence on each game sixteen games this weekend, obviously. And we have still have a few half hour plus in the show left. So we're going to take our time going through these games Vikings Niners MacKinnon. I mean, he was supposed to have this..

"What did you what do you take out of a game like that in week, three of the preseason coach? Well, yeah. First of all, I take away that you know, our defenses. Obviously I in a good spot right now. They they've played. They put well last night and and really they for the most part of played pretty well throughout preseason. And sometimes defenses are head of offenses at this point, but they're, they're playing extremely well. Special teams. I thought had a had a had a better night last night. You know, our coverage units. We missed the one field goal and and I still got a lot of confidence in Jake but are covered coverage. Teams did it. They're really nice job last night, and then offense really, you know, you know, we're just missing missing too many pieces right now. You know, we're missing guys like al-shabaab Jeffrey Nelson Igor and some of our top top playmakers and Corey Clemente. Jay Ajayi and. You know, Darren sproles so it, it's tough. We're playing a lot of young players over there on that side of the ball and and which is good for them. They're getting a lot of a lot of work and a lot of time and you know getting some valuable experience out there. And so that's that's kinda kinda my takeaway. I, I'd love to have a little more, you know, a little more fluidity on offense, but sometimes that's that's what you're dealt as you go into these preseason games bombing to spare you the Carson Wentz question that I'm sure you're getting every minute you're having, but that said I will. I will tweak it a little bit here because when do you expect this doctor coach owner quarterback, I guess, situation to get together and make a decision when you when you peg that coach? Well, I just think when whenever whenever we get to that point, I mean, it's, you know, Carson's doing doing everything he's asked to do, you know, obviously this is this is a medical decision and and time time. Is, you know, the the, the biggest healer and predictor of a lot of things and and I wanna make sure that Carson is is is a hundred percent before before we stick them out on the field. And before we make this decision and and you know, put them back out there. So I can't tell you exactly when this is going to be, but hopefully hopefully it's in, you know, in the near future. All right. Fearless. How an underdog becomes a champion. Doug Peterson, new book, the coach and author himself here on the rich Eisen show what wad you decide to sit down, write a book coach. Well, you know, at first when the when the idea was was brought to my attention, I was a little bit against a project, you know of this magnitude because it takes a lot of time and it takes time away from, you know, family and work and things of that nature. But then I looked at it from the standpoint of, you know, I'm a very private person, my family and I and we don't put our stuff out. We're not on Twitter's and Instagram's and. And you know any of the social media outlet. So I felt like this would be a great way to sort of get my story out there and people could get glimpse of kind of who I am just a little bit and and you know my little bit of my life story from, you know, sort of being an underdog backup, you know, roll type quarterback throughout my career and then and then obviously, you know, through through the Super Bowl last year. So looking back on it, I'm glad I did it and I'm excited for it and you know, can't wait for people to to read it and tell me what they think. Well, I mean one of the stories that you told in the book that certainly got a lot of ink this week is you watching the AFC championship game in your, I guess, in your office prior to the NFC championship game, watching a knee being taken by the Jaguars before the first half against the patriots saying, quote, you've got to be kidding me now and how mad that got you and saying, if they lose this game, this is why sure enough. They would go on. To lose the game. Did you hear Doug Maroons reaction coach, you know, I did. And others say this. I mean, listen every everybody's different and a lot of respect for Jacksonville..

"They meet ride to them like losing. We've probably a number eleven more. Let's force the issue and get the ball in his hand, not afraid to go cross middle. He will bail quarterback, which is why I think he helps either quarterback who set my only concern is if one of them tries to get creative and VERA. Away from the two most reliable guys there in David Johnson and Larry FitzGerald and ideal segue to figure out who the other players are available. Because Mike, we had this conversation with Seattle just a minute ago. If it's not penny slash karston or Doug Baldwin, who is it in Arizona if it's not official? Is there anybody that you feel confident? I think you can take the late round, stab on Christian Kirk. You know, very interesting rookie the season they take early on. He's five, ten, two hundred, four, seven forty. Mike concern there as fits the fought man. I mean, I don't think that's gonna change. He's mostly inside has dominated inside Bashar Christian Kirk lined up in the ninety, four percent of the time. They're gonna have to get crying, kind of creative with him, maybe like him on the perimeter. I think he potentially could play out there, but we saw Nelson Igor. He just couldn't hang on the perimeter in Philadelphia, took him a few seasons for he moved inside and really blew up. So I think he could be worth a late round flyer. Nonetheless, we'll, we'll see you convert to the NFL price. Butler always been an apologist, have liked him since its first preseason game. The raiders many years ago made that crazy touchdown at the back of the end zone always been following him wasn't used enough in Dallas. He he's a flyers while don't forget Chad Williams. Do they took him in the third round last season. He's another another guy in that mix there. Grambling's Dan, what got you? I'm just curious. Coming out of the draft just felt like there was so much hype about Christian Kirk in this offense, and it just feels like it's totally died. I mean, am I wrong in thinking that like he was supposed to be the number two guy in this offense? And that's what everyone was talking about and it's just disappeared. I wonder if part of it is this, and I just just be candid here and this maybe maybe I'm off the Mark. You know, think about the teams that we hear about a ton right now. New York Jets, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles New England, Patriots, Dallas Cowboys screaming, Packer, some of it is just like you go to a training camp in green bands to find you can attest to this. There's like twenty reporters and cameramen, and women, and all these people there that are covering it in the context, though saturate, it's a different market in Arizona that maybe they're just less exposure because it's just there's just not as much volume of coverage. Out there. I mean, I don't know, maybe I'm maybe I'm trying to connect where there's no dots to connect, but I do wonder sometimes if that's part of how things are being how we are processing for mation. I know when we went the chargers camp, that was the shine through it's at Los Angeles, but their in Costa Mesa there. I learned a lot more about the. I learned a lot about the charters because I chance to actually see them, right. I think it to some degree. That's true. And I've been to the cardinals camp even when they were. It was right when cars Palmer was coming back. Second SEAL tear and it's still felt like like that. Like I had to go there to really see and learn more about it. There wasn't much chatter and the people that are covering it or doing more than doing a great job. It's just volume. You know, I've gotten eighteen write ups on Riley McCarron out of patriots training camp because there are thirty outlets covering every single when you start getting buzzed the forty Niners all the new people. They have happened in the analyst season and with the coaching and front. Office shifts. All of a sudden there's more interested in others of volume of people covering the forty Niners that were not there years ago. I would say the reason is a list of players DJ more. Michael Gallup, Chris Godwin Calvin, rarely, John Ross, Anthony, Miller, James, Washington, Portland, son, Mike Williams, Keelan coal, Antonio Calloway so many high upside young receivers in the late round..
