The goal of the plan is to cancel $10,000 in federal student loan debt for some graduates up to 20,000 for others, but the plan was put on hold in the courts by several Republican led states, Washington Post Supreme Court reporter Robert Barnes says some of the arguments tomorrow will focus on whether the president has the authority to forgive the debt. 43 Republican members of the Senate filed a brief saying, there's no way that this act was meant to relieve nearly a half $1 trillion in loan debt and affect more than 40 million people, that that's just something that a president can't do without Congress being involved and authorizing the spending of that money.
