But I think that fans and odds makers are all like me, and they look at yoga and say, you're great, but your big three doesn't have a dominant two way wing. Michael Porter junior is incredible. You actually led me to a think piece. Nikola Jokić is the new Steph Curry. And the reason I say that is it took us a while. Curry when his first MVP in 15 and it took us a while to be like, wow, this guy is maybe the best player in the NBA, whatever you want to say about 16 LeBron taking it from him in the final. So you know what I mean by the content? One of the best players of all time, best player in the NBA. But it took us a long time because we're like, that's not what it's supposed to look like. You're not supposed to be 6 one shooting from somewhere. That doesn't work in the playoffs. Yoga just kind of doing the same thing. We're pointing at him and being like, that hasn't worked since Bill Walton won a title with the blazers in 1976. A point center who's not a defensive vortex who's not a two way player. Okay, Shaq was an average defender. Shaq was supposed to devastating offensive force maybe in the history of the NBA. Yeah. And both of his championship runs were with dominant wings, though. Right. And but you look at every other center led team, Duncan Robinson, both all time defenders. Expensive player of the year war to be named after Tim Duncan, that's for another discussion. Championship runs. Yeah, he was an incredible time defender. Karim was the best defender in the NBA for a significant period of time. Bill Russell obviously best defensive player in the NBA. Maybe the best offensive player ever in the NBA. But so I think seeing jokic do something completely different. Scoring on 18 footers, shooting 70% in the paint, but none of them being dunks. Being the best being the best passer without him moving, we've ever seen. They look so weird 'cause he orchestrates a movement offense, like when they played the clippers and Kawhi was bawling. One of the three best players in the west, along with Durant and jokic was balling and jokic led a symphony to win an overtime against that ISO heavy team. It's like, I don't even know what to make of this because we've never seen it before. And I think so I'm with you. I like where your think piece is headed because the final conclusion is don't try to imitate it 'cause you'll fall short is what the conclusion of the Steph Curry think piece would be. And obviously the same thing is true of jokic because you're not gonna find that player, but the difference in the championship team is I think the west is weak and I don't think that this team can win a championship because all those teams that we talked about and the curry team that we talked about, they were incredible at defense. They are not incredible at defense and large part because they're big pivotal player is not a dominant two way wing.

"It's so hard to talk about the Lakers and LeBron without people taking things and directions that as I start, I'm not necessarily trying to go to or did not want, right? But it happened to me because I do think there's something very interesting about this LeBron era, which by the way, has been four years. Like, those four years ran up on us pretty quick. LeBron spent 13 straight years where his teams got at least to the second round of the playoffs, right? You know, you got all those years with the finals, but at least the second round of the playoffs. He's been with the Lakers for four years. They've made the second round of the playoffs one time. They've missed the playoffs twice, but they got a championship, right? Now, it's an interesting championship because on one hand, it was in the bubble, you didn't get the parade, all of that stuff. All the other hand, it was the year that Kobe died, which I imagine comes with its own significance for the Lakers, but at least for me, as an unattached party, right? Like a party observing this from a distance. I would think this has been a little bit disappointing if I were a Lakers fan. That's how I would see this. It's just like, you want the championship and I guess there are more relevant than they used to be but normally when you're in a place like that, even if you are not winning the championship, you go into the Conference Finals. You go on to the NBA Finals, like you win these in this push. And that really isn't what this has been for the course of this four years. And I can't think of anything quite like that. Like somebody pulled up the stat for me that the only team in a ten year span to win a championship, but not make it out of the first round within that span where those mavericks, where they won the championship in 2011, and then around that didn't get past the first round. I haven't seen anything like those are the only examples that we have. And so Lakers fans that I'm Friends with, they haven't really enjoyed this as much as they thought they would. That's what I was thinking is you were saying you think it would be a disappointment. I think that we know, or at least anecdotally. It doesn't feel like Lakers fans on the tweets or in our life in our lives feel like they have really enjoyed this run. And that's I think not to get to like the analytics versus the kind of feel or trust your eyes, guys, but it feels like from a purely quantitative way to look at it. I would say I take a championship and three years of missing the playoffs over no championship in every year and the finals.

"I want to touch on the nba no guest for the nba finals discussion. And we've done that throughout the postseason. Basically i wanna touch on a couple of things that stand out to meet the honest injury. Look we all wanna fire and make bets and hopefully win money on these big events right whether it's the super bowl the nba playoffs stanley cup. You name it but sometimes there's just not an edge and i just think it's too difficult right now to lay the series price of two dollars not knowing exactly what we're going to get with honest and when we're gonna get jaanus to return all signs point to his being out tonight for game one but willie return game two or game three. How effective willie b last round. We saw trae young return. And frankly i probably would have benched him in game six in the fourth quarter. At least he just wasn't that effective wasn't the usual stellar trae young. We were used to seeing this postseason or is it like joel embiid. After missing the second half of game four in the first round then missing game. Five sixers beat the wizards he. He came back from the injury and he was just managing pain more than anything. He was still dynamic. Not quite the same. Didn't have that dunk that. He said he could do it. One of the end of the one of the games. I believe it was game four against atlanta but nonetheless it just wasn't the same embiid but it was close to so if you can tell me exactly like how big of a percent how close to one hundred percent. We're going to be honest then. I can come up with a firm play in terms of the series price. Game one for me. No real opinion. It's already baked in the line. Honest isn't gonna play it. He said kris found out he code after game for the next day and so who knows how much of that the rest of the series missed right right. And i could've you know certainly affected what happened against denver who they swept him so it wasn't an issue against enough. He missed two games but it like think about if the sons were like the bucks and they had to begin their next series three three days later and then had to play three games in six days. Chris would have missed maybe five games so things have gone love with the sons. This fin this run. They've also played great. We'll see if they continue all right. A part of it is these fans have experienced this in a decade. They've just been in this super-charged fame broadening nortel's they're gonna here in arena. Any hanis once in the arena. So here's the thing. When these teams play in the regular season they played twice both times. the game was a one point game and both times. Paul doesn't turn the ball over like ever. You get zero turnovers unless name. That's amazing race. He's got an almost he's got almost a six to one Assist to turnover ratio in the playoffs. A three to one is considered very good Six he's he's like five point seven to one so it's almost six to one. The other reason is the other thing is they. Are the number one playoff free. Throw shooting team in history. Who's made at least who's hit attempt at least two hundred fifty. Don't be no not a team to play three games. You know I think it's like Eighty seven percent or somebody that these two okay eighty six percent so and we know that milwaukee is free throw shooting especially with the honest is suspect at best says the worst free throw shooter still in the series so something to keep an eye on here you know and again. I don't know what will happen with the honest. I have no idea when he will be in there but you know. I think we're going to see who low scoring at least by kern mba standards and if the game is close. I i think if favors phoenix the other thing. I'll say the bucks on this isn't going to surprise anybody who's watched him in all the bucks. Your number one in the postseason in in in scoring in the paint and they shoot almost seventy percent In the restricted area. I mean that is all y- but also a brook lopez shoots like sixty has been shooting sixty three percent in their Bobby portis shoots a row. Heist cheryl high percentage in there So that's their game. Their game is score in the paint In fact i've it frustrates me when they don't shoot more in the pay but guess who. The number one defensive team in guarding the restricted area is phoenix suns. And that's where eight and comes in. So you know i've I've sort of felt like de'andre eight and has been the bellwether. Is that all the term bellwether we can. I don't know where it comes from. Essentially bellwether means if one is a leading indicator tracks right like so essentially if it's typically used when we're talking about elections or something there's like missouri used to be bellwether whatever direction missouri goes. "In the finals and the bucks number one defensive team out of the sixteen teams in the playoffs and the sons of the number two defensive team and the and the bucks of the number ten offensive team at a sixteen and the sons are the number eleven offense team at sixteen so yup injuries absolutely played a role no doubt about especially for the path. The sons took but the end of the day the best to defensive teams. We've seen play over. The last six seven weeks are still standing. And so i think you know based on that especially with also janas out. I suspect we will see a lower scoring finals ramona. Now i've said that watch kmby one. Twenty twenty seven. But i suspect we will see a lower scoring finals. You know generally speaking when you give two teams a chance scout each other play against each other over and over they figure some things out right and and you know that mark and i were spending a lot of time covering that. That that clipper son series It was couple of low score games now now. Some of that i think was just fatigue like the eighty four eighty game out in la game for that that just seemed like fatigue but it was also just a very taught defensive standout like all those guys on both teams were exhausted afterwards now sudden that had a little break and i think that's what i'm curious to see. Did they get the legs back or did they lose some momentum. Sometimes when you're a little rusty young played in a minute you kinda lost some of that kind of lost some of that. But no i mean it seemed more like I hope somebody from phoenix challenges me from wrong but no there's definitely still a retirement community in a lot of ways and from my years of being mostly in the western conference not always seem like it was a pretty much a little bit older crowd whatnot but now now man. It's i can see why the older the older crowd doesn't want to be here at towards younger. Maybe this is something that has taken place just because of the pandemic and everything in his. It's an excuse but typically they would make the guys don't talk or some more information at this the ability to not tell us anything no update. Don't nothing is i. I've known teams to be coy. Four but like nothing new idea like it's it's it's really strange. Well it makes me wonder about the gambling aspect. Everything is fully invested in gambling. Almost every team has some sort of gambling partnership. And if they don't they will and so the nba's wrapping its hand hand hands around and saying please gamble on our games in fact gamble with these partners But then they're you know they're basically the issue i understand that there's a A competitive issue. Not letting the sons know how. Close you honest. Says we don't want to let them know they don't know what you hung us. Looks like they've never seen him. Play down anybody to be honest but as it is a little bit difficult to encourage betting on your games when you aren't giving at least an injury update you know. And then he doesn't talk right if there's something that is really truly up in the air and it really very much affects the vetting line a lot of time vegas. Just take it off the board again. The issue is that there are people who know correct. And it's not it's you know. That's that's where the problem is. But i mean look i don't think this is a you know a plague on the league or anything i just think it's an interesting sidelight. Yep and i. I think especially it. You know. it's our job to get information right so we're supposed to just be able to get around all that cut through all that it's just as mark you're saying it's a lot harder when there's other issues when we talk about cova testing and the access we have and and we're pulling back the curtain a little bit you know. Whether it's trainer's assistant coaches the thirteenth guy on the on the roster injured players. They're all the court to and you can talk to everybody in each one of them has information in each one of them knows what's going on so now that is removed because everything is in a controlled zoom or press conference setting and so you know look the i think the league the players everybody. Nobody wants a positive test right now to take a player coach out of the finals. I don't want that mark. I don't you know that that would just be such shame at this point right when we made it to hear unfortunate situation with chris paul in the last round. You know i'm. I'm just grateful that we were on the jump the other day mark. We're talking about you. you're the right. Let's just pray for his health. Going to be Like an like no other place because in the playoffs typically defense rises up. The best defensive teams tend to advance and often you know good defense beats good offense You know maybe not. An individual plays but across the board and i got a number of different opinions from coaches. But i'll never forget erik spoelstra air to was like and i and i think spo is often over the last fifteen years ahead of the curve He's a guy that i respect. We respect his foresight with where the league is and he said no. I don't think these offenses can be stopped I think that the defenses are are just up behind that. I don't see him fixing it and that still may be true. But i have to tell you guys In the finals and granted there were injuries to the great offensive teams but.

"Far as I can tell, there was no evidence that they were going to be able to win that series none. And Kyrie goes down Hardin was already already out. So that's the same kind of thing. They're benefiting the same way from that catastrophic injury and and You know that. But that's going to the narrative was enough, I think bud is going to get keep this job. I mean, there's no other way around. You can't. I mean, unless you're honest, went to them and said, listen, I need a new coach cuz we, you know, whatever. But do you know that that probably won't happen either. I can't picture Yiannis doing that. So so, but who knows her is not is not going to lose his job and it's one of those rare weird things. Now, here's what could happen next year can get going again. They, they started method. Let's say Erwin, letting you know, somehow, without the honest doesn't play, he comes back and let's say that they, they're like, mediocre right there. For some the conference. Wait, what were the issue with a third third? Yeah. Which by the way, is a little bit of a downer, right? That was another reason why they get rid of, who knows, or less, you say their third again or fourth and struggling. It's not the same as it was off, you know, can they then fire him then because all those issues are still there, Probably so that that's why I probably would look forward. Now if that's the case, then their like gosh, why we showed this done in the beginning of the year, we had to clean slate now, cuz by the way, now we're bound able to try and resurrect our season, be really difficult to know the year of the new coach. So, anyway, so that's why would I wouldn't be surprised if they, if let's say they win it, they struggle again next year and are in the same spot and Thursday and then the same calls were for his job again. Yeah. Yeah. But it's, it's a thing because this season looking sensitive, I've gotten to the finals now, and you can say, overall it probably is a successful season, it makes it more difficult while even the situation. As far as the team play goes, and the game plan. It's still the same issues over there and defensively. They're very artistic in their system of protecting. Protecting the paint. The changes. I feel like this year, they've made more adjustments in game than previous job. There's still some games that game or against the Hawks, they just look terrible and in five and six. Just feel of that game was just so much better off. Yeah. And and by the way, in all fairness when you lose Yiannis, right? That was in the middle of the game for right? Yeah, yeah, I have to report, right? Yeah. Like, you know, all bets are off. You're not going to handle that, you know, in-game adjustments aren't going to do anything. You need to have a practice or two, you know what I mean and get over that initial shock? So I don't blame them, you know, for for, for, you know, crappy to bed on that one. But yeah, again you said it's right. They they adjustments, they made. And the way that Middleton and Jrue Holiday, live off of that is really impressive because sometimes seems no matter even though they had that ability, they rely on a guy like me on his own knowledge that when he goes away. They just don't know how to run their offense and you know what they were able to do it. So you know and you know this is this is a testament to how, you know, since reality is these are really good player game. Which is really good player, right?.

"Hey, I have a friend that's been selling me on Devin Booker for, like, the past two years. He sent me clips all the time. My Instagram. Yeah. And he dead So send me clips Zach LaVine and I kind of started catering more to the vein this year but then of course with book and making the playoffs. He that's all he shows me now, but I still personally feel like Zach LaVine is still highly underrated. Considering our fellow. His skill-set is very similar to a different book of gives you. Yeah. Well, you know, here's a difference off exactly the answer of this year was, was, was better. Let me see. Yeah, I mean, it was really much better. Especially from an efficiency standpoint offensively. So what separates him now? What separates him now. So I just got text is is the defense and I wouldn't have said that Booker was any better than Levine? Although the dean is really right, he really struggles. He passively a lot of the time but after what I've seen in the playoffs Booker really has been giving out and being affected on the defensive end. We've not really ever seen that from the Lovin and that's probably what's going to separate, but that's a good call. Back trying to pick between those two is really tough. I would probably go with Levina authentically and I'd have to say, Booker has been better defensively? Is that a better team? So that that makes a difference as well. So I don't know, man. That's a really, really tough call. That's really close. If you want a value offense, more than you got to choose the beam. Hot take. I guess. I don't know what else. What's happening? Gabriel, do you want to say something? Well looking at the future of this, Phoenix Suns team. Do you think they can continue to reach Conference Finals or even the NBA Finals game next year's considering, you know, we don't have the this kind of season we had where everybody got injured and so you know it's a good question. Obviously the 63 thing is an interesting thing to keep an eye on because if you start to decline that's going to make it a lot harder for them to do that. And I don't know if campaign you can like, you know, be groomed to fit that role as a starter and then they bring somebody else in and then they could would keep it going. Everyone else though is very young and they can develop and you know, guys like Mikhail bridges are going to get better too. So I think that they're primed to be you know in that mix. Which is kind of like weird because all of a sudden like the Utah Jazz kind of where do they stand in that? They weren't supposed to be that team and all of a sudden you know, Justice artist Sons like leapfrogging them or not. I think maybe they are and so as I'm really high on Phoenix and I'm high on the Hawks. I think the Hawks going to be terrific, they stay healthy. So yeah. So I think that that they can certainly keep it going. The question really is, is the campaign taking off for CP3 eventually. I don't know how smooth that's going to be, if they can make that work then yeah. Then they should be good for several several years. The Nuggets too will probably be up there in the Western Conference the they they probably will. Yeah I wonder if we're going to find out that the that losing Grant ended up being more painful than it than they thought it was going to be. I'm, I'm headed take the safe mean. "And I'm like, well all I can tell I felt like watching that was you know if CP3 is healthy and 80s healthy, the Lakers will win that. That's what it's like to me. And they were in control through game for up to 1 until 8. He goes down, if they go up 3-1 I can't picture the sun's winning that series even with Chris Ball healthy. So you know, Thursday, Is what I'm going to getting at, but even even still it just the whole thing sucks. And the fact that everyone's gone down like, this is just been and, for whatever reason, I'm not even sure. Obviously the, the, the Jonas injury is not because she started up the season so quickly. And he didn't have a lot of rest in the offseason, but, you know, I don't know. This is a crazy crazy season. I'm looking forward to getting back on the regular schedule, where we can start, you know, at the end of old. Yeah, and there's what there's one thing I'll say and then, I'll, I'll let somebody else jump in and help out. But what I wanted to say really on that on that end, is that your the playoffs are always a war of attrition. It's just this season is just so much more and maybe LeBron's, right? Maybe it's because there was the short, whatever a couple of these, you know, treat young got hurt by a freak injury. You know, I really got hurt victim by a freak injury that wasn't the long season that got them down but really what I want. What what I really want to say is that, you know, we all want to have that those planes. That's where everybody's healthy, but it's not 2K. You know, injuries are part of the game. It's yeah, it's always, it's always part of the game and the sons in the Bucks are for, For Better or Worse, the last team standing because they were the ones who were the most, you know, the best teams that were the most healthy over the course of the playoffs. "Middle the Bucks aren't in the finals if Middleton play the way he does last night, and even in like game three down in Atlanta when he just took over in the fourth quarter. I mean, listen, by the way, the books that were they are without him even with the heavy on his healthy. Like you know what I mean? Like you need not in any way like that was that he's been the linchpin and I've been talking about him for years now. How he is like the the go-to guy for pick-and-roll, you know, he he ends up playing like this star role in their offense a lot month. Be honest does. And that's sort of a function of be honest has inability to shoot because it's like from deep and not wanting should any mid-range shots. So it's it's a lucky thing that they now lucky. It was a great development, they got him and he developed into this guy but he he is as vital as the honest is. And you know what? Like, they could probably be competitive without be honest. I don't know if they're going to. I only, they're going to beat the Suns. Be honest, can't play. All I can tell you is that it's a miracle, that Yiannis didn't are multiple ligaments in that inch with an injury. It was also strange to me that he's standing, you saw them standing up a lot in that. Game on that knee, I only, I can only imagine it must hurt when it's bent, right? And when you're sitting and it's been Ninety Degrees that, that must be where it takes more than when you Santa Claus. But even, even if he had like her elbow or something, he would have been standing the entire game.
