"Give the dynasty to us cuz I'll take five and O versus what for six and for you know, I'm sorry, I'll take the 5 and no never lost faith me personally. I don't I I hate not winning. But anyway, they are but we want to be and to beat the best you gotta you know to be the best you got beat the best right home. And so I think this is this is one of those he checked there's still a basketball term. Yeah. We got Seventeen though Lakers. I'm always going to shout out the purple gold cuz you know about 1:17, then comes off to me. It does feel like a little Lakers versus Celtics some even though we'd never had had already personally, you know once again and I think it's probably more so about the fans obvious, you know, like this is not a rivalry between those two teams and it's personal for Jimmy, which is actually good for us, you know, damn. Well what you want to shove it to your XXX head coach, even though even though Billy B has been our record of birth. As far as a lot of good praise for Jimmy and of course they're going to do that. But we all know about the rumors that you know, you want to keep Jimmy over Tom. Yeah, and it's I mean, it's kind of Beyond me because Kraft essentially off with Bill Belichick at the end of date compared Tom Brady, so I don't know. Yeah, the only happened I don't know how your eventually let Tom Brady go when you decided with like it's like well if you're going to decide what Bill Bill check in here. I didn't you just give Tom to boot a couple of years sooner. I understand anyway to me but it's it's a private over favorite for sure. Yeah. I don't care what anybody says to me. I will always believe that Robert Kraft old Bill Belichick to trade Jimmy Garoppolo. I don't care whatever you want to tell me. That's what happened. Bill Belichick's net. It's just simple Sports 101. If you have to make the decision, which they were at the crossroads where they had to make the decision. You keep the younger more talented player. The reason why the Niners moved from the state, it's just simply Sports what I want then the Lakers moved from you know, Shaq and Kobe and Jose Kobe, you know, it's just what you do, you know. it's it's just what the niners did it was Reuben Foster and NaVorro Bowman. essentially essentially the Dodgers moved on you know, so To me. I think it fires up and see look regardless of what's on Twitter. Jimmy garoppolo's a top five quarterback. If you would have that locker room believes and loves a quarterback. You know the amounts that game that's all we wanted to see and then that's huge like, you know, he's going to he's going to go sorry to cut you off. I mean we're going to go as far as you kind of goes. Well, I mean, we know shaniel do this page 264 yards or not mistaken three touchdowns got like a you had a qbr. Excuse me. Yeah qbr believe 9292 a passer rating of over a hundred Club 110 range. So was a fantastic game and also ship together with the line still not all the way there shout-out Daniel Brown School finally kind of yeah last year at guard dog, ironically gets around cuz he started at right guard against Iran the last year, you know, all the Zone somebody somebody did something and brought out the be satisfied..

"Red zone defense I mean your top ten in points and twelfth in yards overall is really really good so what is it like being an inside linebacker in Vic Fangio's defense from your perspective for me my whole life you definitely have to be a smart players the Denton cal's own if I lie back and everybody with the beach really really smart and know the game and now his defense you know you're definitely going to make sure that you're on point on the spring game Thatcher he's going to make sure that I'll be doing the best to get our team prepared to win unless he sees something on the on you know on a scale that he wants to change up Friday night or Saturday night yet be ready or almost ready to rock with whatever he brings to the table so I'm definitely gonna be a smart player will get new defense and that's what I'm excited about you know going into YouTube so I called it a graph you since you're one but now your chin was where I kind of make and model of the products and able to really see where oxy and will begin playing my best football knowing where everybody else around me well Todd four straight seasons with fourteen games are more started a hundred and thirty six combined tackles last year looking forward to seeing how you can build on that next year we really appreciate you joining us tonight for everything you guys have to absolutely take care go Todd Davis at Pam PAM Davis fifty one on Twitter very good stuff and that that right there that last answer kind of sums up why Todd is still here because evic fanned you had any doubts at all that he couldn't throw whatever he wants at that guy as you go to the quarterback of the defense in because you said you have to be very smart you have to have to be very unlikely that you know you got to be cerebral order paid play linebacker for Vic Fangio we've we've talked about some of the athletic marvels and specimens that he has had over the years whether that's been real quiet Smith we drafted recently and up there Chicago Patrick Willis navorro Bowman we can go back and on and on and on some of the great linebackers these habit you know Todd Todd is a smart guy and I think you're absolutely right I think that having the ability to digest all the information all the things that go into the changes are complicated defensive schemes I I think is having a linebacker like Todd this is kind of a benefit so one of the things I think in the media or even fans when they're talking about Todd Davis and they're talking about the Broncos inside linebackers their there sometimes we get fixated on we got it could be faster you got to be a more I floated to cover these tight ends in these running backs man I I remember Todd Davis doing pretty dang good job last year in those roles now there there are some factors here and there's there's certainly parts of his game that don't quite fit with every all the other inside linebackers that you just listed off theirs or something a little bit of that time was a four eight seven forty guy by the way but he does just fine but he has great football instincts to help make up for that and he's got a pulse of the team to like that there's something he brought up there we're talking about carrying the torch for the defense the culture but it remained like that they've had a couple of tough years right I mean they've got a couple of years but but compared to what the offense is Ben it's not even close the defense has been carrying this team if the deep it if it if anything when the defense struggled was as a result most the time of the office letting them down over the last few years now playing complementary football I'll I'll make that argument till the day I die that the defense has been a stalwart of this team for the last five years and even if their numbers sometimes aren't reflective of that it's it's a huge part because the office was there a top ten defense last year with the twenty eighth ranked offense that's insane the best red zone defense in the league and your offense is is bottom of the league in scoring somehow you were able to manage and keep games close enough to get a seven and nine record just think of the office Xaver thing else you want just think of that offense was twentieth how many more wins would that translate the defense stays the same the office is twentieth I'm not even asking for top tier of the league but they could be this year they have a lot more child live that long time the defense but top third of the league six of last eight years I think it's pretty good I think it's pretty consistent the offense on the other hand twenty eighth in points the before that twenty fourth twenty seventh twenty second nineteen defense is been carried the football team and I think that in nineteen was the year they won the Superbowl right but that was because they were number one yards number four points I think that the album I think if you look at the end of the year final five games the spark that the offense and I think that's where the optimism is coming to the opposite side of all the people saw enough of drew lock to like this is better than what it's been I'm hoping that it continues to move forward but it's certainly better than what it's been there was a noticeable provide the ball moved better we do lock was that was was quarterbacking the football team and you point out the last five years what did you do during those last five years what it just in the last four years more anything because the the for the other year you actually did have your quarterback when you load them the most when she had was nine seven twenty sixteen after those five wins six wins seven wins I mean this team has been on an upward trajectory one game at a time the last three years but why you haven't been able to settle on a quarterback the last four years had two seasons of below two hundred ninety total points for you three to twenty nine point two case Keenum that was that was the most offense at this most life with this offense has shown since Peyton manning's arms and they were still twenty four right there is still plenty big yardage in twenty fourth what what can you say most consistent sure but he was not clearly good enough right he played.

"I think that's the culture that there's even even before I got here I think when I got to the team of open invoice with open arms and they told me that you know we we win games here with some of the sample so I kinda felt like it was my duty to try and uphold their soft like this a call sheet that they built on that casting key player in in places that seem to build that legacy my father think he purchased that day in a day out he this usually triggers into the reason why we've been successful in the past couple years last question for you Todd really appreciate the time one of the things that we I think we say in the media a lot is Vic Fangio inside linebackers and we we put a big emphasis on how he's had these athletic and they're kind of a key figure in the defense and and you you looked great last year led the team in tackles you obviously had a good year we talked about that leading the league in red zone defense I mean your top ten in points and twelfth in yards overall is really really good so what is it like being an inside linebacker in Vic Fangio's defense from your perspective for me my whole life you definitely have to be a smart players the Denton council and if I lie "Looking for two to room playing hard for anybody I'm out there I'm I'm gonna make thirteen million this year making thirteen million next year what I'd like to do is be able to to finish out this contract I'd like to be able to play out this contract with the team that maybe is contending the Broncos by some people are being picked as a team that could be pushing top fifteen league right now and this got this upcoming year but then again some things have to break right but either way what we do know is on the defensive side of the ball they have a lot of promising aspects one promising players and putting a ton of investment in the secondary and and and let's be honest been the times Vic Fangio's defenses were at their best they had they had what they had guys out to get me you you're good you're good players at all three levels yeah because right now our team the only one is a little bit questionable maybe that inside linebackers yeah that that that you know because you count the two outside linebackers along the front line because their edge guys even though they dropped the hooks owns a lot of times and fix the fence you're still gonna count them as the frontline us you can't van and and Bradley down the line you get great players on the front the front five it's it's those two back kills two inside linebackers Vic schemes typically are at their best when his great inside linebackers and if you go back and you look at the age of eighteen and real Kwan Smith was a great inside linebackers even at this point is correct information still really good coverage go back further let's go back to the Niners nominee Patrick Willis navorro Bowman side by side great inside linebackers I do you can go back go back to the list it's it's always been like that do with it when he gets great inside linebackers the scheme really takes off not yet have great do you want the corners recorders but the pass rush helps make great quarters the ability for those those guys are getting after the quarterback if they get after quarterback fast enough they can make middling corners look good and good cordial great yeah well it but what you want to have in Vic Fangio's scheme is you want to have opportunistic secondary yes because that's the point the point is to get three or four guys after the quarterback they can get their and they have everybody else back there looking for the turn of the the point of the Vic Fangio defense to generate the turnover the point of Wade Phillips defense is to put you behind the chains of forcing a punt SO Vicks gonna play give you Nick let you nickel and dime him up the field plan for the turnover hoping or settle for the field goal Wade's defense is gonna try to put you behind the chains of puncher and occasional get you get roast of law ball he's got guys on island all rights are coming up at the top of the hour we're going to get into or of top fifteen again we're gonna go we're gonna go through this obviously our first two picks him up pretty similar I have a feeling unless you went you went crazy I know there's some flirtation there with Washington talking about quarterbacks in people's eyes people can do some fundamental gymnastics with these things been where they go like well you know doesn't necessarily mean that they're all into warehouses just look at what there's only did last year they had a first round quarterback and then they went into the draft and took another quarterback at number one overall didn't day yeah that's not a realistic scenario for everybody and yes the way Haskins struggled to learn the playbook with Jay Gruden because a very verbiage intense playbook but.

"Honest I still want to play but I don't think it's the right decision so I thought about it for a long time and I think now is opportunity for me to step away with with with what's going on here and like he never mentioned right word concussion but again he suffered three concussions from that we know of from twenty fifteen to twenty seventeen he missed seven games because of those concussions now we was held out of other games for a variety of reasons but he one of the lasting images unfortunately look I think was the twenty seventeen season that Thursday night game or he was carted off and he was you win some and you get a concussion it's hard to control it was yeah I got I got emotional he was weeping on that he hadn't had a concussion in the last two years he was wearing this like this call to Q. Kerr I believe and I I'd I'd really like not having had a diagnosed with a concussion in the last two years I wonder how much that help because you're always looking for that piece of equipment that can help that is never never gonna stop but you you'd like to you know slow it down a little bit or have less obviously less concussions if that can be possible to happen but he's a guy that said that two and a half minute video he knows only wants me to play and that's attack mode and and while you heard it might I still want to play but he goes I just don't think I can do it the way I want to anymore yeah it it it's interesting in light of what we were talking about with Marshawn Lynch coming out the other day telling guys Hey while your young and while you are able to take care of all the things they're going to set you up for later in life as a football player and we've seen especially the linebacker I think it's interesting you all the way back to a guy like Chris Borland who is one of the best players in the league for a very short scared before decided to retire from his legal that Patrick Willis Navarro revolt was a rookie yeah okay but like Patrick Willis navorro Bowman these other guys that obviously wasn't head injuries with everybody but was the overall wear and tear on your body at one of those violent position still in football but these guys looked at a different time and said Hey we are making more money than ever before we have all of these means to say alright football does not own my body going forward because of that so I can make these decisions based off my health there and there is a there there isn't a French let's let's just flat out say that they are there more financially yeah that is a little the crew before them and the crew before them as well not to say they wouldn't still make that decision I just mentioned Borland was only a rookie so he hadn't made any kind of money yet but some of the others have have made their money and feel you know what I'm I'm going to walk away from this yeah all of that is straight talk brought to by straight talk wireless everything for less only at Walmart and just the most it as you said junior he was a very analytical player I was very analytical way to retire it was factoring everything and and he went through the process and he realized this is what's best for me so we wish Luke all the best major rebuild now coming to Carolina Greg also may walk away one of the into a quarterback their new coach Matt rules used rebuilding the temple and it resulted at Baylor so they've got the right guy for a rebuild if you want to go down the road and they have to but coming up next we'll a nother Major League manager suffer the same fate as AJ henshin our score because they're all tied together in that memo we'll get to that and talk with a daughter press after that hi this is a great offense starts of the.

"Back here on Christmas Eve my name is Kerry Crowley filling in FOR Tober Krueger and Brooks Tuesday afternoon and you know what time it is it's Donte Whitner time joining us on the tumor gas line the NBC sports bay area pre and post game analyst he covers the forty Niners used to cover for the forty Niners Dante pleasure to talk to you have to go and it's going great how you doing great great I think the big news is on everyone's mind we see Marshawn Lynch's coming back are you still in playing shape are you able to get back out on the field well you know I'm implant shape than I'm able to get back on the field to some to give me a call and we'll see what we can do you happen to fly a position where the forty Niners actually short handed right now so the tax line was hopping people were saying bring Dante Whitner back how how long do NFL players typically stay in shape for where you could do a Marshall Lynch's doing get back on the field or is he just an anomaly here where thirteen months later you don't know what you're gonna get well it depends on your mind set you only left instantiate is because you know just to be a professional athlete and when you're done you know you're going to sit on the couch in Galloway not your guidance your lifestyle is standing Shea it will take you know that long to it down at the March on a different type of guy you know he's always been you know so you don't really know was a mystery you don't know we've been doing behind it your company very there have been a you don't know you know what type of things are going through his mind but I truly believe plan whatever buffalo norm think that he can get out there before there's such an anticipation such hype entering this weekend's match up and I see west on the line Seattle San Francisco the forty Niners losing streak up at CenturyLink field dates back to two thousand eleven your first season with the forty Niners did you feel the significance of winning that game in two thousand level could you feel how big of a deal it was to go into Seattle and beat a team in your division on the road absolutely in a call like a logical you know when you can go on to our house and to our our turbulent environment such as Seattle Seahawks stadium ominous appointed defense and offense like the hand would be small and Russell Wilson ran around you know it is bullshit competent and let you know if you can beat anybody in the league anywhere anytime and that's how we felt in a pristine going to act and now have that extra company to boost and I'm Monica's think company and that they will get it done talking with NBC sports bay area pre and post game analyst Dante wicker former forty Niners defensive back here only you make gasoline Dante I want to ask you a few questions specifically about this forty Niners defense was started back in which a quad keytar uncertain status for Sunday it seems like things are trying to where he wouldn't play how much does his presence change this defense when he's healthy and flying around like we know he can change it tremendously not only from the point of him flying around and making plays from the communications standpoint when you have a guy a place is going straight to your inbox sometimes you might be covered for you might be twelve yards in the line of scrimmage you are the communicator between yourself the other defensive backs on the football field the nickel back a linebacker and the offensive line if you have a strong city that communicate back and she motions before they happen they get guys lined up in everybody can play fast and not have to think and that's what a miserable in because they don't have them out there as a communicator there's also questions the defensive backfield about the cornerback position opposite of Richard Sherman who began the decade on one side the rivalry hill and it on the other and fans are becoming a bit impatient with a callow Witherspoon at the other cornerback position they saw Emmanuel Moseley play and play well earlier in the season why do you think the the staff and cal Shanahan are focused on sticking with a callow Witherspoon at this point the year will mainly because he performed so well you know before answering they were like and get back into playing shape and get back to where he was planned but there's no time to wait on that your manual more he performed as a starter you know he was attacked and he may place each and every time in some big games or some big situations imaginable Julio Jones one on one he held his own so I think that you'll kill whether school might be on a short leash all continue to give a break plays a specially when you want to play championship football you know the importance of a great linebacker probably better than anyone having the opportunity to play with Patrick Willis navorro Bowman in San Francisco how much is Fred Warner impressed you this season not just from the communications standpoint but his playmaking ability because I think he's jumped on to kind of the national scene with that pick six against Los Angeles rams absolutely jump onto a national saying he's a kid ever since Walker door and the guy just put his head down he granted you did everything the codes that actually do even a finger same that possible as far as wearing a green data being able communicate could not the deep purple line lined up running make a play tired and have guys believing you in order to detain he's running silent asylum right now he's getting intercepted he's getting turnovers and I remember specifically having a conversation with him in off the they either got it seeks information and he was asking me like how can I played is run better how can I make that one extra step to get that intersection and whatever he did he found information he's performing as one of our top linebackers in National Football League I think that's really interesting did Fred Warner come to you did you go to him have that conversation come about they actually came to me you know you watch a lot of my Instagram videos and at the time I was put a lot of places that the plate battering around neck he could play better individually and any samedi MA said you know how can I play the better and I gave him that insight cannot connect them with some of the legends in the game you know that you know you know couple lime exactly what in buffalo his information and you know he's a performer like water time god right now he's got a transformation he really cares about the game he really cares about the team and that's why he's performance I want to talk about right now forty Niners linebacker Fred war sliding into Dante winters DM's I have a I can see the headlines now that's that's good stuff I want to ask you about the end of C. N. getting a first round bye in from a player's perspective we all know it's extremely important but what's the most critical component of that first round by is it the week of rest you get or is the home field advantage or does it depend on what type of the advantage you can gain with your home field hours three different things to different aspects to it yet yeah this direct aspect to it where you can get some guys back that are injured that you absolutely need back on the football field some guys are nicked up like bullseyes Sherman they get an extra week to you know get themselves healthy and into you know proper gain shake you get home games you never wanted to play home games are you going to roll you actually been in your own bad not use your own routine in order time clock might be off a little bit you know it all is a big factor when you going to the football games you know another thing is you can extra week to prepare for opposition so whether you don't know who's going to gain you can split practice practice wraps fifty fifty on who you think is going to be and then you have a jump on that team so all career does affect on very important in the novel online chatting with Dante Whitner NBC sports bear a pre and post game analyst who covers the forty Niners former forty Niners defensive back you were on the team the last time San Francisco went up to Seattle and tame the beast in the Pacific Northwest Russell Wilson was on the field for Super much of your career in the forty Niners Seahawks match ups I'm wondering now that you have the chance to watch him from a different perspective how has he improved the most since he came into this league while he's more or drop back quarterback now I know everybody see him run around and making plays but it'll drop back quarterback and he wants to protect his team first and foremost he doesn't want to turn the football over you want to keep them out of the stakes and he will never do anything to win the football game that they have to run the ball fifty times he's cool with that but their second piece to his name being able to improvise big plays I've seen it first hand sometimes you think he's back back there you can't see him behind the fence line office aligning he stands out he would become a reckless play and that's what I call a little Houdini recount out a team led by Russell Wilson because he can make magic happen also Seahawks will be down their top three running backs they've signed Marshawn Lynch but he was the biggest X. factor for San Francisco still containing Russell Wilson this game absolutely understand that he knows that this game is gonna be on her shoulders he wants to show that he's the MVP of this league this is a big game to go out you know you're going to get his bass I don't care if they have some office alignment I don't care if they don't three running backs or make it seem even more miraculous if you get that done and I've noted he welcomes the opportunity all right one last question for you don say what kind of Christmas gift giver are you how do you check people off on the gas on the gift list you go out and ask them ahead of time what they want for Christmas or is all you is it all feeling gassing cash out you have car looking cast out in gift cards make anybody feel good then they can go out and get what they actually want and now with the money Christy for them to walk smooth smooth all money Dante Whitner we appreciate your time thank you so much for joining us merry Christmas merry Christmas thanks for having me he is Dante Whitner NBC sports bay area pre and post game forty Niners analyst I am Kerry Crowley filling in FOR Tober Krueger and Brooks here on Christmas Eve we got into the five o'clock hour Hawaii bowl coming up later on the coming up next we'll take more of your calls Marshawn Lynch coming back to face the San Francisco forty Niners siding with the Seattle Seahawks we'll talk beast modes impact and we'll talk more about this epic Sunday night football match up coming up you're listening can be are one oh four five FM six eighty A. guess line the NBC sports bay area pre and post game analyst he covers the forty Niners used to cover for the forty Niners Dante pleasure to talk to you have to go and it's going great how you doing great great I think the big news is on everyone's mind we see Marshawn Lynch's coming back are you still in playing shape are you able to get back out on the field well you know I'm implant shape than I'm able to get back on the field to some to give me a call and we'll see what we can do you happen to play a position where the forty Niners actually short handed right now so the text why does happen people were saying bring Dante Whitner back how how long do NFL players typically stay in shape for where you could do a Marshall on when she's doing get back on the field or is he just an anomaly here where thirteen months later you don't know what you're gonna get once depends on your mind set you only left instantiate is because you are you know just to be a professional athlete and when you're done you know you're going to sit on the couch in Galloway not your guidance your lifestyle is standing Shea it will take you know that loan to a doubt the Marchand is a different type of guy you know he's always been you know so you don't really know was a mystery you don't know we've been doing behind it your company they there have been a you don't know you know what type of things are going through his mind but I truly believe plan what I'm about below the norm I think that he can get out there before there's such an anticipation such hype entering this weekend's match up and I see west on the line Seattle San Francisco the forty Niners losing streak up at CenturyLink field dates back to two thousand eleven your first season with the forty Niners do you feel the significance of winning that game in two thousand level could you feel how big of a deal it was to go into Seattle and beat a team in your division on the road absolutely in a call like a logical near where you can go on to our house and two out of turbulent environment such as Seattle Seahawks stadium Amadeus appointed defense and offense like the hand would be small and Russell Wilson ran around you know it it just pulls her confidence and let you know that you can beat anybody in the league anywhere anytime and that's how we felt they made this team can go into that now have that extra confidence boost and I'm hundred percent confident that they will get it done talking with NBC sports bay area pre and post game analyst Dante with her former forty Niners defensive back here on the human gasoline Dante I want to ask you a few questions specifically about this forty Niners defense was started back in which a Kwasi tark uncertain status for Sunday it seems like things are trending to where he wouldn't play how much does his presence change this defense when he's healthy and flying around like we know he can change it tremendously not only from the point of him flying around and making plays from the communications standpoint when you have a guy that plays a strong safety in your inbox sometimes you might be covered for you might be twelve yards in the line of scrimmage you are the communicator between yourself the other defensive backs on the football field the nickel back the linebackers and the defensive line if you have a strong safety that communicate back and see motions before they happen they get guys lined up in everybody can play fast and not have to think and that's what it was struggling because they don't have them out there ever communicate there's also questions the defensive backfield about the quarterback position opposite of Richard Sherman who began the decade on one side the rivalry hill and it on the other and fans are becoming a bit impatient with a callow Witherspoon at the other cornerback position they saw Emmanuel Moseley play and play well earlier in the season why do you think the the staff and cal Shanahan are focused on sticking with a callow Witherspoon at this point the year will mainly because he performed so well you know before answering they want to let and get back into playing shape and get back to where he was planned but there's no time to wait on that Emmanuel more he performed as a starter you know he was attacked and he may place each and every time and from big games or some big situations imaginable Julio Jones one on one he held his own so I think that you'll kill whether school might be on a short leash all continue to give a break plays a specially when you want to play championship football you know the importance of a great linebacker probably better than anyone having the opportunity to play with Patrick Willis navorro Bowman in San Francisco how much is Fred Warner impressed you this season not just from the communications standpoint but his playmaking ability because I think he's jumped on to kind of the national scene with that pick six against Los Angeles rams absolutely jump onto a national saying he's a kid ever so Walker door and the guy just put his head down he granted you did everything the codes that actually do even a finger same that possible as far as wearing a green data being able communicate could not the deep purple line lined up running make a play tired and have guys believing you know that's the big thing he's running silent exile are right now he's getting intercepted he's getting turnovers and I remember specifically having a conversation with him and all of these any the guiding seeks information and he was asking me like how can I played is run better how can I make that one extra step to get that intersection and whatever he did he found information he's performing as one of our top line back with the National Football League I think that's really interesting did Fred Warner come to you did you go to him have that conversation come about they actually came to me you know you watch a lot of my Instagram videos and at the time I was put a lot of places that the plate battering around neck he could play better individually and any samedi enemies that you know how can I play the batter and I gave him that insight cannot connect them with some of the legends in the game you know ask that you know you know couple lime exactly what in buffalo his information and you know he was performing I wanted time god right now he's got a speaker for Mason he really cares about the game he really cares about the team and that's why he's performance I want to talk about right now forty Niners linebacker Fred war sliding into Dante winners DM's I have a I can see the headlines now that's that's good stuff I want to ask you about the NSC and getting a first round bye in from a player's perspective we all know it's extremely important but what's the most critical component of that first round by is it the week of rest you get or is the home field advantage or does it depend on what type of the advantage you can gain with your home field artist three different things honestly have been aspects to it you it yeah it is direct aspect to it where you can get some guys back there are injured that you absolutely need back on the football field some guys are nicked up like both saying Sherman they get an extra week to you know get themselves healthy in into you know proper gain shake you get home games you know it's easier one group play home games are you gonna roll you know actually been in your own bad not use your own routine in order time clock might be off a little bit you know it all is a big factor when you going to the football games you know another thing is you can extra week to prepare for opposition so whether you don't know who's going to gain you can split practice practice wraps fifty fifty on who you think is going to be and then you have a jump on that team so all career does affect on very important in the novel online chatting with Dante Whitner NBC sports bear a pre and post game analyst who covers the forty Niners former forty Niners defensive back you were on the team the last time San Francisco went up to Seattle and tame the beast the Pacific Northwest Russell Wilson was on the field for Super much of your career in the forty Niners Seahawks match ups I'm wondering now that you have the chance to watch him from a different perspective how has he improved the most since he came into this league while he's more or drop back quarterback now I know everybody see him run around and making plays but it'll drop back quarterback and he wants to protect his team first and foremost he doesn't want to turn the football over you want to keep them I had a steak and he's willing to do anything to win the football game that they have to run the ball fifty times he's cool with that but their second piece to his name being able to improvise big plays I've seen it first hand sometimes you think he's back back there you can't see him behind the fence line office aligning he stands out he would become a reckless play enough water column little Houdini never count out a team led by Russell Wilson because he can make magic happen son Seahawks will be down their top three running backs they've signed Marshawn Lynch but he was the biggest X. factor for San Francisco still containing Russell Wilson this game absolutely understand that he knows that this game is gonna be on her shoulders he wants to show that he's the MVP of this league this is a big game to go out you know you're going to get his bass I don't care if they have some office alignment I don't care if they down three running backs or make it seem even more miraculous if you get that done and I've noted he welcomes the opportunity all right one last question for you don say what kind of Christmas gift giver are you have you check people off on the guests who are on the gift list you go out and ask them ahead of time what they want for Christmas or is all you is it all feeling gassing cash out yeah car listing cast out in gift cards make anybody feel good then they can go out and get what they actually want and now was the model Christie for them to walk smooth smooth all money Dante Whitner we appreciate your time thank you so much for joining us merry Christmas merry Christmas thanks for having me all right that's Dante Whitner who just joined us on the.

"Of the line we are situated now and we are calm down we are calm down found our way I was thinking about people was that the because there's a parking lot right across the street run Tasman Dr right across the stadium and I literally just ran up this hill like you said the juror raise hell and I was looking around and there's these people who were at the crosswalk waiting and they were looking at me like where did you come and I got up to the crosswalk in any way for the green I just I was dodging cars like in the middle of traffic and they're just look at me like I was calling your line it says in the Tasmanian yeah is the Jerry rice sooner Roger Craig that's a Rodger started it I think in the ice pick that up from there I know of I know hardball had that has the base so how do they don't use anymore now they'll use that but he did have an obstacle course now and the sale was like a small those dogs they're handling shared in San Diego when he was growing up and he used it well I guess it was more in Tampa it was in San Diego is the Austin and he was saying so they have like logs in in a body rolls in kind of a military I I don't sing the players using that though but there was a hell is still there in the corner it is one practice field I would like to see them do the obstacle courses like the super stars back in the seventy Bob Seger and yeah I revive cedarwood that every year John Havlicek he was great Reggie I last week I was at every Reggie would compete in that song but I remember him hosting it without because I fell right above them and read right and the check was the one because his hand I was incredible he went golfing wanted pink thong you'd wanted bowling get into as well and weight lifting but but Bob Seger and should have been in it now to carefully that's what this is for starters I thought the whole thing was going to every year the obstacle course last like that was the biggest thing the obstacle course I think was last and remember the obstacle course for that yes I think it was battle of the network that's what it was the network that was often how his backhand maybe people like the love boat fantasy island like social I was so bad that was my Saturday night every Saturday night love boat fantasy island was to show that was called Saturday night it were trying to convey was Saturday Night Live it was about eleven thirty and it was called like Saturday night with our clothes selling something I think it's kind of like to I mean I love that the guy was great for a certain demographic but after it's like okay we don't need to host a variety show we don't need the magic hour you know I mean just let's let's cut enough wood there all right one other quick noted the NFL that will move on to some giant stuff I don't know if this is pager it's been like the PR department to tear this or if it's really the truth so Bella take came out and he was asked about intellectual term we talked about it briefly yesterday bill checks response to it and he said I didn't know well now what did the painter have a Saturday right he met the media Monday was massive so what the patriots we are spent on this is what he meant to say is he didn't know of it he knew but he didn't know ahead of time others are saying but he flat out cell I didn't know he said I didn't know and then the patriots be ourselves said correction he didn't know of it what he's saying is you want to talk about yeah listen I got a quarterback that just turned forty two and the key already you know push fade manning out right and you know he's got the second generation fate new retires a twenty nine year rob Gronkowski talking very openly did about the pain and want him right one thing we want to get into obviously forty Niners the roster in Jamaica Rapallo on the team and all that chest players retiring early and you know I go back member Chris Borland yeah the young forty nine R. linebacker no right after Willis involve many of that one year we played a lot racked up a lot of tackles smart guy did IT sure what he's doing here was a C. T. and all the concussion incomes may well off family you wound up one and done we got to get him on the air and talk about if that was the right call what is he doing now I'm sure is making a good living but that was you know players retiring early because the C. T. with Gronk and I'm sure he had some head trauma as well but it may be said was going it was spared having gone from his shoulder to his kidney all the way down to his calf you know kind of like Pablo strikes on from his nose to his toes the guy got beat up and a retired at twenty nine and you know we were talking earlier about you yesterday about Jim Brown Jim Brown I probably could have played a couple more years but in a motion picture deal he was ever interviewing of whatever did you leave at age twenty nine I think is gonna turn thirty are they offered me a hundred twenty five thousand to start a movie with Iraq al Welsh so I said Syria this is much easier physical contact so that's a little bit of sense and then you know we could make Calvin Johnson and by the way did you his last year let you made sixty grand thousand right yet by two years later he got a motion picture deal for under twenty five thousand so there's different there but I also you know I go back to gale Sayers you know good gale Sayers was here that six touchdown game against the forty Niners occasion was forced out because we just didn't have those night right so you look at it like the modern medicine what you know but then the other side of it is they make so much money they don't have to but here's the is roster to make the hall of fame now he is he a first ballot hall of Famer I could debate that I could even debate if he's all a favor but I think the media loves him so much in the pro football writers in there a claim to Stein bunch less than fifty vote on this stuff I think they will put a man I'm not saying he's not worthy of it but you know is he a first ballot hall of I think he gets a lot of accolades for being drawn complain on that team what is a good player not gonna dismiss that but is is Andrew luck a hall of Famer yeah I'm not yet no yeah and I love him as much as fundamentally if you say that because I make the K. actually doesn't have the body not kill so yours was sold electric what is safe like five or six years Colfax they were exceptions to the rule I mean you know what don't you get me started and tell me to real Davis is a hall of Famer no and I would say in our lock is a hall of Famer but partly he walked away from a lot of money and also canton MA had he played a few more years and again look what I made the hall of fame I'm looking at Kurt Warner Warner played eleven years but started late he started late I'm trying to let me look at his numbers thirty two thousand yards worth his time he was an MVP he wasn't we P. anyone else is aware of all and so he three children and you're never did yeah he threw two internet test I'm the lucky one seventy three didn't win a Superbowl then when every piece of the ice cry not in I was just a Warner was the first guy to jump to mind and I think what the Warner whether you did it deliberately I think being on the NFL network and being on TV as its help Terrell Davis I mean for a while there every single guy in the NFL network was going and Cantin weather was Warren Sapp before you got to trouble Marshall Falk or Marshall obviously is a hall of Famer before he got in trouble but I think Warners visit visibility becoming a broadcaster honestly love going into that but way I mean just I just think he's walked away from canton and I know how much he loves the game and how much that means to him so it's all there a crisp Moreland I mean every day you know what's funny so I just did a quick Google search to try to find the latest article on Chris Borland two days ago so I didn't realize where he would he's from I guess he's from or close to Dayton where they had those shootings and so apparently he's organizing a thing he's become a social activist and he's organizing a thing called the Dayton peace festival this was this was an article dated out of the newspaper two days ago no so he's a social activist now our guide so there you go and he had a nice I'm sure is making a nice living off the field and he just decided to step away and he was a you know a a prototype Mike linebacker in a four three got what I had a lot of tackles yes got us there had a note about a month ago about talking about the forty niner linebacking corps and they're using and then he went back and he listed the ages of Patrick Willis navorro Bowman people forget Alden Smith now for different reasons and with moment it was a couple of bad injuries for well as she never got over the Telfer Alden we pray for him every night that he stays alive but how old are those guys Yahoo I think Willis is the oldest right he be like thirty one so I mean they could easily still be playing and we can imagine them run the route of the middle this for three defense with the front you have now well I think what the assumption is that everybody is it's basically a lottery if you're fat if your body holds up now look Brady has done certain things to make sure he doesn't from a health standpoint but also the game is change so much that he never gets hit he gets where the ball so quickly knows the offense so well they changed the rule after he got hit the one time that's right I'm Bernard verily right he got he got hit in the low they change the role of rating bill right he hardly gets hit so it even with running back Frank gore court G. ET zero L. battery right but he keeps going and going he's never had a mate well yes or is a city on your eyes or watch a twice Willis McGahee at my director Frank everyone coming I think coming in he had the one one but you know he's been remarkably resilient whereas other court what other running backs fall off a cliff I mean there is an element of luck to this whole thing ironically an arrow and unlock him had your luck retires and look nobody's creek.

"A Gaga guy ever since he saw stars one recently meters on H. B. O. fell over there to I can't believe even seen a money Jill I can't see these movies I don't you could find yourselves it every night you have to watch some sort of sporting event yeah yeah yeah I was driving in the other day and I was talking to a friend and they were telling me was the puppies talking about showing his kids a movie channel to perhaps yeah now seem Friday and anyway we're going to any site as I can when I show my kids a movie like remember the Titans and things like that that's were like you know why because I'm watching Tyler and I'm watching hard knocks by the way had hard knocks on in little Rory Murphy would come in and go come down home I pause it like you can't be in the room all your leads Keogh's no eleven year old yes that's a big difference to Jacqueline yes or yeah yeah yeah seven year old pretty young for that for Gruden's F. bombs I'm gonna go back up there speaking of which you guys want to keep more cute kids stories are just you know people get either matter happy when you tell the stories but I feel like people can relate so we have the story was poly here when when it might be told the story about Rory hitting them online on Madden no no they were your here so Polly I know we're getting some St real life stuff you missed a huge riff okay hold time light me out unbeknownst to me yeah little Rory Murphy seven years old got online on Xbox in in DM door would you guys cut texted or day under the under us three D. M. there might be but we were hanging together playing video games see and and my B. out of no where in the afternoon as it turns out that it might be in Khost happen to be together playing super mega baseball beers right right right even ingesting other thing sure and all of a sudden you know when you get a DM it appears in the left part of your screen doesn't it like it doesn't make a little noise in the bottom yeah it is a good day to collect insurance gala mental noise lights and like you said hi it's Brian's kids through his set was pretty that's like every special yeah cocina might be their drink and all and they're watching guys jump off buildings they look at each other they said no like yeah what is a kid talking to us we're gonna do with this and I get in there like whose Brian he Brian would lead to a whole discovery that Rory had been rolled the texting these guys online I was mildly fascinating actually that's also push it was also like we were trying to respond like mid text response isn't alone when you guys go to me yeah as I sit me down here yeah they they're discussing the response in a compelling hello yeah absolutely only the roof is that we decided how funny would because we didn't know was Rory just once as Rory and Jacqueline okay okay yeah we were talking about how funny would be if he's okay don't tell my dad all these are downstairs for favors don't tell my dad you got a coach can you send me through those gummy seven don't get me a beer we we played bowed sees you need a beer grab a beer don't tell my dad question was would we tell more yeah to keep seek that was the big thing that happened through the secret right sided no yeah yeah and then all the sudden they're like you know I can tell the confidence now it caused a huge stir anyway and what they did this all happen this was on Friday Friday he hit them on Thursday did you confront Rory about until like you know when this was listening in and she actually sent me a picture I should show two years so what does he what he does that because I have no idea how you communicate through like a I mean is that there's you doing it on his phone he tapped on it never Spock's keyboard on an Xbox keyboard area wow yeah and what what do you want to you want to play video games and we're like no did we told you can't play this game online now where were you when this was going on or if that's the key question where was Murph watchin like sports center thirty for thirty what's the problem again as we watch the kids you're not taking my kids to see Ginny sixty on on a on Allen Iverson anyway check with Candice to yesterday's hard knocks and I I he came into the room I hit pause that you can't be in here got to get out yeah through many of us fall they hate that when they get left out but it's just you got to do the right thing that kind of contents are right for seventy twenty actually messages yesterday Rory said he don't tell my dad can you tell me how to get on a hard night watch out they said the A. start talking like you gave you guys heard my Gruden impression yeah yeah if this app on sounds good cold here either way our six AM qualifiers for Boston were Janie Marlowe Gilroy and Paul sock of mountain house way out there in mountain house so shut up the mountain house a gall soccer's is name and we'll do that again this hour totally so you call for five eight nine six him here are we had some fun stuff to get to Bundy Jo this is for you and your buddy Jerry Jones and he's in the news man juries like there is having a big August he's kind of in the news the Z. kill Elliott thing is made a big to do Jack Prescott dak Prescott and now they have this linebacker Jaylen Smith what a story this guy as he was at Notre Dame and in the I believe was the Orange Bowl against Ohio state I think completely blew out his knee and in fact that injury is one of those reasons guys like Christian McCaffrey and other guys are SO and Leonard Fournet are skipping bowl games now and they're like I don't get to see that the Jilin Smith lost his entire career because of this well guess what so he fell from being a top five top ten guy all the way down to the second round right the cowboys took him in because this guy seems like a really special guy dealings with worked his **** off to get all the way back and is now playing at an extremely like of Patrick Willis navorro Bowman type of guy for the cowboys and has now been rewarded with a monster contract like thirty three million guaranteed is sick it's an unbelievable story so with Z. kill Elliott holding out with two years left on his deal you got out on one side and the other side yeah Jaylen Smith being dealt the worst blow possible and working his way back to Jerry milked it okay for all was worth of to point out how great Jaylen was compared to Ezekiel and it literally is no accident that we're sitting here today no ma'am this is a contract story right here this is a contract or no bend barge in my **** to get a contract out there with you for the last three weeks this is a contract and this is a yeah contract story that is not just this year are not just next year this has it all it has overcome making it has power it has rewarding an ambition bar has just the beginning of one ambition will get you in the future and that's the biggest most exciting thing about this are you listening Ezekiel is jaelen is now the favored son right the favorite son any goes on to say by the way goes on to just talk Turkey he's like end by giving him this money there's no less for the other guy is.
