"However, and I think that's the honor she's okay. On the outfield, I don't think he's the worst outfield I've ever seen, but I mean, this team is not good defensively and to lose, you know, basically one of two or three average or better defenders, I think that's raises a red flag with the Phillies again. I mean, you know, this is a team that's gonna have trouble defending and, you know, I mean, obviously real Muto is very good, but you know, defensively, they're not going to be good. And I do think they're starting pitching is really good. They're hitting as good. They should be better than 500 right now they're hovering there. But they've been around 500 forever. It just feels like they're always underachieving. And you know, there's a little pressure on Girardi, I would say at this point because they better be over 5 with all the money they spent and well, and they spent it well. Harper's got a really good Wheeler's been good. Castellanos and schwarber just got there, but doing what you would expect them to do. You know, I think there's pressure on Girardi. They better at least they don't make the playoffs. They better get close. And by close, I mean, even closer than last year. Yeah, no, listen. It's really team is extremely talented. Defensively, they lack. And it just seems like, you know, as you said, the big pieces are all working just fine. It seems to be kind of the glue pieces that haven't quite come together. It'll be interesting to see if the defense will cost them in a big way. Because certainly, it's interesting. I can't believe that we can even say that. I never thought there would be a time where we would say Bryce Harper is underrated. But he is underrated. I mean, we've seen him since the time he came into the league. You wouldn't have been able to tell me that early on, but his value, he just, he's become very consistent. You know what you're going to get from Bryce. And I always feel like that's like the ultimate thing, a team once. Let's talk a little bit about and you know, I hate doing the MVP talk here in Maine, but you know, it's kind of what we got to do. In American League, I mean, actually, I don't think there is anybody close to my man Manny Machado right now. I think he would be if there was an MVP right now. He'd be at the top of the list. And listen, Otani's having another phenomenal season. His teammate is also having a good season as well. I mean, how do you see that right now? The MVP talk. First, I'll say in the national league, I'm with you, Machado is clearly the leader at this point. He's been the best of anybody in baseball, offensively defensively, everything. Great story in the times about I didn't realize he was a man. Well, yeah. Jeff Miller some reps there, give him a very nice story, but he's clearly the leader. I will say, I mean Arenado. It's turned his game around and is awful. This year, we talked about Harper as well. It is interesting that the big names have really come to the fore. I do kind of think that the deadening of the ball has made it so that not everybody's hitting the home runs now. How about that John players are the great players. So I think that's positive. What do you think about that? I think that's one of the positives that, you know, you guys now have roles united place hitter who's sometimes second baseman. It's not going to pop one out opposite way now. You know, it's the stars that teams are going to depend on. Listen, I like it. I think that's a positive. One negative, but I think people around baseball will say is it's made the Yankees even better because, you know, we got judge and Stanton, you know, their 450 foot shots are now four 25. They still go out, whereas, you know, you have your average player, which is 400. It's now three 80 it's an iffy whether it goes out. So that's the number one reason why the Yankees are so much better than certainly that I thought, but a lot of people. In terms of the Yankees and we'll get to the Yankees here in a second. It is a piece of that, but let's not forget that judge and statin have been healthy all season long so far. That is also a reason why those two guys, they're swinging the bat so well, consistently. Not in and out of the lineup. In growing companies, there's two kinds of CFOs. The one.

"With Tony gwyn junior John hayman and Cody decker. John, we got a few house cleaning notes to talk about. I'm sure you saw the pirates get no hit and still find a way to win a game against the red yesterday. It just seems like the reds, they just seems like they are destined to struggle all season long. Poor reds. They find a way, you know, almost every day. It's really unreal. We were not expecting this. I mean, I thought they would, you know, we know they had the fire sample, but we thought they'd be better than the pirates and the Orioles and a few other teams, but they are clearly the worst team right now. Yeah, and in their defense, they've actually 6 in four in their last ten games. So they played better, but this is as tough. I think this is the worst way you could possibly lose a game. Hunter Greene goes out pitches the best, at least game of his short career so far. And gives up nothing, along with the rest of the staff and they still find a way to lose the game. The other big news John is Albert Pujols. I never thought in my lifetime. I would ever have said this, but Albert Pujols pitched in a game last night in a blowout win over the Giants last night. That was pretty crazy to see. Well, it was certainly entertaining. So I give the Cardinals credit for entertainment value. I thought it was interesting on the broadcast. They mentioned that the new manager who's younger than toolson obviously Wainwright and Molina as well, Ali mormo. In staying in his house. And you know, I think at this point he probably had to do whatever fools told him to do anyway. But, you know, if you're renting the house and getting a good deal for pools, probably which is not a slum house. It's probably a very nice house. I'm guessing, I don't know. You know, you probably have to you probably have to do it every Saturday. And he wanted a pitch, so, you know, should be okay. We've seen this happen before. The only time that it really didn't work out was when they can take our pitch for the Red Sox and hurt himself. Which is good, which is what we're in the business of. Yeah. We definitely are. He also put himself on a very short list. Him and Babe Ruth of guys with 600 home runs and have pitched in a game. He just continues to go along. Let's get into some Babe Ruth was a little bit better at the pitching. Yeah, yeah, no, I think that's I think that's safe to say. We're safe to say. Let's get into some real baseball stuff. Nash, let's start with the national league. Obviously the mets are setting the pace in the national league east. However, they did lose their first series of the year to the Seattle Mariners. Mariners hadn't been playing at welcoming in, but they take two or three from the mets, a little bit of eye opening. Yeah, good for the Mariners. I mean, I had them as a playoff team. I'm not feeling too confident about that. I did go to two of those three games and, you know, I was very impressed by Kirby, the young pitcher from rye New York looks very good. In fact, I know that some of the mets people thought that was going to be the toughest game, and that was the actual game that they did win. So, you know, baseball not very predictable. I also ran into Steve Cohen the owner of the team and, you know, just making polite conversation. I noted him as before the game that they'd want every day, and that lost a series yet. And you know, when his answer was predictably, he said, I'd like to sweep on one of these days. So he wants to. That's what bosses are like. You know, but he's been terrific. I mean, he's been a terrific owner for the players. They love him. The media obviously he's out there on Twitter and certainly I'm sure that the front office has got to love him too with that $290 million savings over that two 90 million. That's the magic bark. Some people have them at two 91. Some people say two 86, but I have a feeling when they get to that trade deadline and they start loading up some more players. They're going to fly past that two 90. That's hard. It's hard, it's hard to see this roster that's already super talented adding more talent. But you just know, by the way, Steve Cohen talks, they're going to add talent. If they need to have a break, the other thing you said you were at two of the three games. Tell me, tell us a little bit about the whole Jesse winker and his relationship with the fans. Well, you know, you go through this about met's fans. They're interested, you know, I had even forgotten. This was three years ago. When winker had hit a big home run, he made a nice sliding catch and I guess the Met fans were giving him some grief and he kind of gave him a sarcastic wave. You know, three years ago, they did not forget he's getting like the Pete Rose treatment. I mean, we're not talking about Pete Rose here. You know, we're talking about a, you know, a regular guy who did not beat up their shortstop or he didn't take any swing at Lindor as rose did with bud harrelson. You know, it's quite something to see the amount of booing this poor guy is gay, but you know what he said he loved it. So it's good he's got the personality. He does. We need that's baseball needs. They need these type of back and forth. And it's within, you know, the boundaries. Nobody's going, you know, beyond it, and it's fun for everybody to kind of see JC weaker certainly has the right mindset for it. The personality is a great thing. We saw that with that. If you watch the game last night, Harrison Bader miked up. That's a guy with a personality. Now, and he's certainly a very confident young man. He was kind of disputing with Tim kirchen said that he had said that he has the best bling in the game. He said he was the best dressed. He was a, it was a minor distinction, but in any case, you know, he's out there and he also even said that he's won some gold gloves now. It's time that he went to silver slugger. He did mention he's got a ways to go before we get this silver slugger. So he knows where he stands, but I like to see that kind of personality kind of out there guy. I love the confidence that he rightfully so. My man can, in my opinion, the best defensive center Fielder in basement. Wow, we got some good ones. He can go get it for sure. Thrillist, interesting team. They're keeping it at 5 and a half, they're chasing the mets right now. All of a sudden, they're bad to have started to heat up. They did it in a huge way, almost sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in LA. This is how good this Philly team is going right now. But Bryce Harper is not playing now Phil. He's probably going to have to be DH the rest of the year. UCL a torn UCL, how are they going to manage this I personally don't think this is that big a deal as long as you have somebody that can defensively play in right? Because I think it would be a bigger deal if you lost his bet. But it seems like he can swing pretty fine. It's all I'm swinging bat very well in that Dodgers series. I mean, how are they going to manage this? Yeah, I mean, you're absolutely right. The reason he got the $330 million contract is generally because of the bad. I mean, it's pretty decent outfielder, but $30 million for that. So that's clearly where the value is with Bryce Harper, but and they're hitting as outstanding as we expected it to be. I mean, because the schwarber terrific hitters as well, who they just picked up for a combined 179 million Harper already has two MVPs, not even 30 years old. He's been famous since he's 15 and he went from, I think kind of maybe saving at least over publicized, maybe not overrated. I don't want to say that but over publicized. It took almost underrated at this point at least the league title at home runs title league league in doubles, and naturally, if you have those two coverage, you lead the league in extra base hits again, so we led the league last year. I mean, he's one of the best hitters in the game. So it's great that he can still hit..

Soler Hits First True World Series Leadoff HR

"Hey, ladies and gentlemen, it is rare that I note something in the sports world as an opener. But I thought you would find this of interest even if you don't follow baseball. Or any other sport for that matter. So the World Series is taking place right now. Between the Houston Astros and the Atlanta Braves. The Atlanta Braves representing the national league Houston Astros who can not make up their mind which league they would like to play in are in the American League. Something happened last night. That never happened before in the history of baseball. I'm serious. I love that stuff. As one of the players said, there aren't many firsts left. That the batter in the in a World Series game be opening batter, hit a home run. It's happened at the bottom of the first, but not at the top of the first. There you go. I am sure. That at least 4% of you found that fascinating. Welcome to the show. Where we indeed do talk about everything in life. For whatever reason, I'm finding interesting, perhaps because I very close friend on the Atlanta Braves. Very special, very special human being, as it turns out. All right, everybody Dennis prieger here. There was a group called the anti. By the way, Sean, did you happen to hear what I announced? You missed it. He went out to get some papers for the show. So he's excused. First time in World Series history, a batter opened up the World Series with a home run. That's, say, see, he's moved. He is one of the 4%. And the guy who did it was at last series with COVID. So ah, so it's another first. He is the first guy to be out with COVID to hit a home run at the opening of a World Series.

"And washington. Just go away. They said fine but we want of money. They were asking for around one hundred fifty to two hundred thousand dollars in compensation to go away. Nobody wanted to pay that and sorry and some of those were actually for sale right where they were also the word that so even more resistance i guess to paying off a teams a couple teams that were for sale right right. What if. What if they sold them to somebody with apple something that you wouldn't be able to get rid of them even more so because nobody's going to buy something just to have it on out from from underneath them louis for sale Cleveland was forced for sale. Well baltimore struggled. Washington said they would they would sell the team at somebody would buy it but nobody wanted to be the first guy out and they wanted the as much money as they could get from the established league the national league to go away in the end. The national league did it achieve that to some extent when they bought them out. But that's why they didn't close out in eighteen ninety eight now. They had another problem when the players league with belly up and eighteen ninety and after the little war between the american association and national league in eighteen ninety one a new national agreement was signed that formed the twelve team big-league within that there was a clause that said these are the twelve teams that are in there. This agreement will run for ten years. And you can't drop somebody from the league without their consent during that period so the national league was stuck with twelve teams till one thousand nine hundred two if nobody was willing to go. That's why they kept asking for more money because they knew they have the leverage to ask. So let's also now throw in barney dreyfuss Previously mentioned right because he's integral to the story and surprisingly to me even even more so down the road as as a member of the baseball hall of fame and all that stuff.

"League was Pretty restrictive on things like selling beer games for example and these river city team so to speak embraced it and maybe arguably is partially why why. They're doing so well at the gate. Certainly those those issues were throughout the eighteen seventies eighteen eighty s into the ninety s. In fact the blue laws on sunday baseball don't end for baseball until the nineteen twenties. I think philadelphia was the last team that that Still work in a city that had blue laws. That restricted didn't prohibit sunday baseball. However you're you're exactly correct there. The national league if you look at their constitution in eighteen seventy six their purpose was to control baseball to make the rules and to kind of be the benign dictator overall. All of this sort of thing and i think you're right that they looked down upon the american association. They certainly if they had their their druthers. There would been have been no american association and the national league would simply have been at the top of the pyramid and ran thanks and very profitably in all probability however the american association the country even though the midwest and the east i was just getting too big there many cities Growing that could support teams that go forward with this sort of thing and they couldn't stop that we will. What we we talk about the reduction that in the early eighteen ninety s we i get the term big league because the national league suddenly became a twelve team league and there was no when they absorb half of the american association after a one year war over certain players being assigned to them out of the players late debacle. So let's get into the eighteen ninety s then right so. Because that's when this i i guess. The characterization is loose affiliation became much more directly an officially connected between this american association and the national league. Is that correct. Well they had always been tied together. Since the early eighteen eighty s through the national agreement and by the mid eighteen eighties. They're playing roles were were virtually identical. The differences came in and how the league's operated With the national league assuming the moral high ground of no sunday baseball. No beer in the ballpark..

"And signed the national agreement. That link them and one neck one minor league into this. The first time we started to see organized baseball come along in the early eighteen eighties and off we went through the eighteen eighties and we ended up saying the the the beginning of world series between american association and the national league. We saw players traded between leagues. We saw battles to sign players much like free agency today because contracts were nowhere near as tight as they work but we also saw the beginnings of reserve rules. And and those sort of things as the league's and the individual teams were looking to protect their own interests. It's interesting too because this is awesome. We've talked about this on a number of different from different angles right. This is also you know it's also important and the chapters. What one to perhaps of ken burns is baseball documentaries or is helpful on all this right is is the i wanna call it ragtag miss but there's sort of these are sort of still the formative years right. You're sort of alluding to the the term quote professional right. 'cause there's there's a whole bunch of things Going on at that time right where things like quote unquote professional baseball is looked upon. Maybe not necessarily as a noble profession right. Certainly it was off at factor right and all that stuff right. The players were were. Were knock there. Were there was no college are being drafted into the major leagues at that time and these were just guys who could who had athletic ability had developed that ability and just wanted to live the way they wanted to live. They were a a there. Were those that were happy. Go lucky there were lots of drunkards within that. That that budge there is a lot of responsibility. There is also very good players very a moral players. 'cause you had the whole sabah -tarian Issue with sunday baseball in in certain cities players who wouldn't play on sunday and those sorts of thing so there was this mixed bag but the players were not sophisticated group of people and neither were the owners for that matter. They were still trying to figure out how to make this a paying proposition. They'd have good years and bad years now. There were teams that consistently made money chicago in the national league. Boston internationally philadelphia in the national league. Saint louis in the american association cincinnati in the american association was kind of up and down but by large brought over half the lease ahead. The teams in both leagues struggled in many many seasons. Well look at it. And it's also sort of the the other sort of angle or rift right. The national league not necessarily Helpfully aiding and abetting the american association right the frankly pejorative or derogatory perception of them. As as the american association is the beer and whiskey. Leak right The i it almost feels like the the they were called a lot of times. River city's and not sort of as a positive thing right bored almost as a perception of sort of a down market and were Inferior i guess. Products the national league thing right It seems that the national league.

"He started with a western group of of team saint louis cincinnati louisville in chicago as his wedge in to try and convince the eastern teams boston new york philadelphia that sort of place to join him and essentially move from a player based league to a owner based league and he was successful. The first meeting of the group was held in louisville. It was speculated by some folks that did that because the president of the louisville club was. Walter haldeman who was the publisher of the journal and he could he had the power to put a little a gag order on all the local newspapers and there are nothing would get out before harper went to new york and famously a convinced the eastern teams to join him and so national league has been going on since one hundred seventy five years now. Cheerful wall long long time but the association came along and they were guys they. There wasn't such a thing as major leagues in those those times. Certainly the national league was top of the a pyramid but the american association came along. And said we're just as good. We'll compete for the same players. They were willing to sign players in the national league. They were Had very similar schedule setup and Followed much the same rules. There were some minor variations and on. They went through their first season and they outdrew the national league. Part of that is because the american association had teams in philadelphia. New york and the national league did not and the late eighteen seventies. Hobart tossed out new york and philadelphia because they wouldn't make their final western road trip so they were in places like worcester massachusetts in troy new york and rochester and whatnot at suddenly. The american association was in the big cities and outdrew national league. The national league approach them or they approached the national league. Because certainly that actually was was richer. Had more money and was had better. Posture.

"Shakes. Now has the sign winds and delivers and there's the breaking ball swing and a miss Junior swings right through it. That slider that Trevor Bauer has is going to probably be his biggest weapon today. If he can locate that he will use that in abundance against this fastball hitting Braves team and it's outside. And Ronaldo. Kunio Junior's ahead of the count, three balls and a strike to 50 hitter during the regular season. He had 14 home runs 29 knocked in Our back to the plate. "Emptied out and. That was that. Yeah it's interesting. It looks like Rogerson, even publicly went to. Lengths to basically say that he's going to basically run this thing as A. As a side show. So you wonder I mean that seems a little odd right because at least you would wanna Kinda at least go through the motions and try to at least put together some semblance of a team I mean spite obviously is certainly playing a large role in all this right but you could also. Hold your nose in sort of throw out a team there I, mean. But when you you publicly go out there and then the and maybe not even debate the presses. Perception of of this literally and figuratively side show. You're already dooming yourself to. A loss you lose more money than you would have lost even if you were trying to make a go out of it. Yeah I think. I don't know maybe he thought I'm not going to invest any money into this and just you know. Consider this part of the cost of the perfect does you know I get a better team and? I paid very little. For that team so It's okay if I if I lose a little bit. You know. In. CLEVELAND. I'm not sure exactly what his thinking was. You know at the very least. He was able to you know create a really good good franchise and Saint Louis and really like plant the seeds for what would become. One of the greatest franchises in sports history. With this, you know very, very sketchy turn of events. So the perfect those were you know beautiful white and red uniforms and that. Tone of red on the uniform sort of stuck in the imagination of some sports writers they started calling them Saint, Louis Cardinals. And there you have the beginning of Saint Louis Cardinals, organization sort of born in this original sin of. Syndicate ownership and. dealmaking. Well. That's an interesting sort of the track of history. How long did it take from? This season how how well did they do actually by comparison? To their brethren and Cleveland they didn't sort of run away winning at all of course. No, they were actually good but not great. They won more games than they lost, but they were not anywhere close to the Super Bowl You know I think they were they were solidly winning team but not a championship team. So. Far From Perfecto on the field when when they when did that sort of transition happened in the cardinals named stick for good. You know I think it happened pretty soon. Afterwards I, think it became the cardinals. Unlike thousand, nine, hundred, ninety three, and I don't think they were the perfect for long after the. After the trade. So in some respects, this is actually almost a Semi Wada's brilliant move, but it certainly a happy move. For the Robinson at least that that So what comes though of what becomes though of of the Cleveland spiders? Here's a team that. You know we spent a good ten years. The National League had had gotten a was a major part of the American Association for a couple years prior to that but. Did this basically drove. I'm guessing this franchise into the ground. Was it. was. It. Basically a fait accompli even before this this Wacky escapade in eighteen ninety nine. Think it was just not long given the Sunday. Situation. I think that's kind of what it was at the The National League contracted after that season from twelve teams to eight and a perfect excuse me the spiders we're one of the casualties. So it was very easy for the League to say you're out and for the team to just kind of quietly disbanded. Disappear into the night The. Team that became the Cleveland Indians was around I think in some form or another..

"Just kind of limped into nothingness. How does the how does the National League and the the oversight of the League? How do they sort of handle this because? Obviously, the conflict of interest is in modern terms obviously, pretty plain to see but. obviously, this forces the issue for years down the road and and maybe some of the rules and all that kind of stuff but I. I'm I'm finding it hard to believe or understand why organized baseball at the time. It seemingly had no recourse. We able to determine to like how this situation was even allowed Kinda, have to to. Organize Baseball was was not that organized right in the nineteenth century. Even going the twentieth century, it's become a process of slow consolidation of power right in amongst what we major league baseball but. In the beginning. There is there were competitive leagues. Right. The National League, the American Association, the American League came in and the Federal League tried to compete. There was the PCL closely in this time was arguably competitive with other leagues the. The whole. World of baseball. was just so different it was a different landscape and. To be fair to the National League after this season, the same thing by the way was happening simultaneously, national? League, with the Brooklyn Superbos and the Baltimore Orioles. The superb ended up winning the. National League after. Pretty, much just taking all the good players away from the Orioles The. An earlier version of the orioles that after that year, this practice which was called syndicate ownership. became. outlawed. So so to be fair, Frank Frank Robison and the owners of the of the superbos oriels. Did kind of get a slap on the wrist and. This practice was banned. I thought it was interesting. There was doing some research is so that the Cleveland Plain? Dealer. So, first of all, the first game if they played was was against the perfect does the spiders And I thought it was interesting because April Sixteenth Eighteen ninety-nine, the plain dealer, the writer said I think the quote was or the headline was the farce has begun. Obviously, pretty clear that this was not going to go well, and and they seem to live up to that to that promise I mean, what was there any fighting spirit in this team? Was there any potential the ray of hope or was it just was everybody in the tank and and or it was just I mean I'm just wondering if if a players on that roster, the management, the manager. Fans anybody you know. Was it just kind of you know a lost cause from the very beginning because he think that maybe you know some of the better story of course would be that these young know nothing's or these traded afterthoughts you know Kinda bonded as a team and kind of. got going into kind of stuff happened but clearly, that wasn't the case. I just wonder. How? Just. How desperate and lost a 'cause it was and how early in the I think it was immediately lost. To be honest I don't think they're really ever was a sense of hope a lot of the trades that happened you know a lot of sort of activity. is also worth pointing out I don't think I said this article it happened right before the season. So Rogerson. Trade you know Patsy Tibo and cy young and all these guys to Saint Louis almost immediately before the season started I think in late March and so it wasn't like and had a lot of time to recover after losing their best players they were just sort of..

"And We delve into a whole treasure trove of some of those stories and this week we wanted to kind of circle are one that he wrote about two years ago around the story of the Cleveland spiders. Now, the Cleveland spiders as many baseball fans may know especially in eighteen ninety nine were known as and still are the worst team purporting in the worst season in major league baseball history, the eighteen ninety nine, Cleveland spiders showed up with a record in the National League back in the day of Twenty wins and one hundred and thirty four losses. A record that still stands I think it was a one eighty winning percentage if you want to give him call it that. Expires were in the National League the earliest the most the earliest days of the national. League. Basically, running. Let's say they were around from. Nineteen excuse me eighteen eighty, nine to eighteen ninety, nine, hundred, ten years. The last year of their existence is when they rolled that sort of horrible. Record they were preceded by two years in the American Association Eighteen, Eighty, seven, eight, hundred, Eighty, eight. So two seasons there. but we're going to get into the story of their very last year of existence the spiders. In eighteen ninety nine and the reasons behind it, it's a it's a fascinating story. It's been told where, but we KINDA SORTA get into the nitty gritty of it but basically it's a story that includes another team the Saint Louis Perfect does who you people in St Louis will of course no where the actual direct lineage and a source of what are now known as the Saint Louis Cardinals that's one aspect of the story another aspect of the story of courses there. There are horrid record and how it lasts even in today's modern age nobody's come close although there's been a few the mets of of sixty to, for example, were pretty bad a bunch of other teams that sort of a a approached it but certainly nothing. To the extent of the the terrible record posted by the the Cleveland spiders the and we get all that story but it's also interestingly somewhat unwittingly wrapped up into The current travails that the Cleveland now called Indians in the American league, have been around forever in Cleveland now find themselves in in today's sort of modern.

"That is very cool. David Bell very much appreciate his time earlier today, going through what he's going through on the field today in terms of drills. He already had a zoom call with the media earlier today was kind of up. Spend about 10 12 minutes with us tonight at 6 36 Good stuff and available again. In podcast form. Keep in mind. The way this schedule breaks down, and this is the one of the inequities of all this. The Reds are obviously competing. Let's just say, for argument's sake, they don't win the division. They're competing for a wild card against the rest of the National League teams in other divisions that don't play the Reds. David Here's what I mean the Reds get the National League. For the American League Central. Seems like, say, the nationals, the Phillies, the Mets say somebody from that group is fighting for a wild card. They have to play the American League East. So while the Nets and the Phillies and the Mets are one or two or three of those are fighting, maybe with the Reds for a wild card, the Reds were getting teams like the Royals and the Tigers six times and Those teams have to play the Yankees and the Rays. To a lesser extent, the Red Sox Even a team say Dodgers will win the West team like Arizona say San Diego comes on Arizona, San Diego will be playing teams like the Astros and the A's from their opposite division. So the the inequity right? There is your all competing for the same wild card spots, but you're not all playing the same teams and I think it is safe to say. If you could pick one of those three divisions to play against from the American League, it will be the division that the Reds ultimately got. Right this from the AP over the weekend. I thought this was I don't I don't agree with it. But I thought it was a really good letter, written by a 54 year executive in Major league Baseball game is Tony Segal. "Quarter hour right home good morning and National League and Major League Baseball making it clear that no they don't want to see a scene like we saw Tuesday night on the field in Cincinnati again some of the hardest harshest says suspensions penalties handed down a long time by the league after the Reds in pirates brawl the brunt of it borne by Amir Garrett for the red Sioux took off of look like he was told to take off the Pittsburgh bench by the Reds coach you kind of touching off that ninety ending five arrests manager David bell's now serving a six game suspension the players who were suspended including Gareth are all peeling so or wait and see how the appeal turns out before the Reds lose those guys services for a couple of games did they not what did her only get two games hurdle got to that guys ought to I don't know how that guy can skate like that because he's obviously the I mean if you go back his store he's the instigator and all of them and they said that for David bell too was like you know you're the one in charge of your team and because you couldn't control of the the flyers who ran on the field and couldn't I you know had the Reds pitcher who hit one of the pirates and but part of I guess bells of getting six games was the fact that it already bled is right out of the game and returned and not to mention the fact they've been ejected from like a game here's the other thing about that Yasiel Puig was traded on that now I know now Cleveland loses them for a couple games where was where I mean I don't I meet again you know I'm not the trade was I think it's very good because we the the the rates got a picture of war in god's name was like the general manager William said he was right there about to go out to tell him that the trade have been made and then saw things like start to go south and said he thought better of trying to get out there in the middle of it what day yeah you is that the same thing like you were saying I heard him talking to mo I think and he was like you know who goes I was just about to go out and and I had already told David bell to get him out of the game and then as they were like talking about that the fight broke out and that's when bell will fail from the what was brought about what what was built what was he talking to bell bell was in the clubhouse he was thrown I can't take Connell and he was still running things for the Reds even though he wasn't actually just seems a little weird I was and Williams and made the same comments like he's like oh yeah I see my trade falling apart coming up our news at six o'clock we'll talk.

Much different story for the dodgers against their rivals will see. I goes tonight giants. Dipper looking lineup here. Donovan Solano will hit leadoff as the right handed hitter at second base against Kershaw, Brandon belt Musian number two spot in the order and plays. First base Tyler Austin, leftfielder third. Third-place hitter. Bus cozy. Do any catching is back in the lineup tonight in cleanup Evan longoria at third base bats bit. Kevin are the right fielder. Hitting six grand Crawford shortstop at seven. Stephen Douglas centerfield. It's eight. And a starting pitcher for the giants banning night is the young, right? Anders Sean Anderson to one three nights. Seventy are a even better. Late giants very happy with his progress Anderson pitches tonight against LA. Meanwhile, the dodgers forty eight and twenty five overall, they are cleared by ten games in the National League West at this point in first place. Jack Peterson is there left fielder lead? Better, Alex, do go in centerfield hitting second. Justin Turner back in the lineup. Tonight at third base batting third, Cody Bellinger, the right feeling cleanup hitter. Mac muncie. Is at second base tonight. That's bit mad Beatty. First baseman and six place at our Chris, Taylor shortstop at seven Austin Barnes into catching hitting eight. Starting pitcher for the dodgers is, of course, the left-hander Clayton Kershaw will tell you all about the numbers at the head lifetime against the giants examine a really good years. Six one three one three overall earned run average stuff is quite the same as it used to be. But the effect of MRs right about, at that same level is one loss year. "Hundred flowers dot com Twitter feed. Cohen, ESPN, and the infancy SPN like this one house Chisholm talking about the workplace violence that was thrown out there by the unpire when Manny Machado was suspended for one game for arguing or call third strike, and it was a little bit of a bump in the pliers, as saying the pirates sociation saying there's no place, workplace violence, Harris sets. I like how the empire's acclaiming workplace violence when they referee a game replace. Actually police themselves by throwing ninety five mph fastballs at other players when deemed necessary to send a message, that's only half a league though. Maybe the National League does they throw guys. Yeah. But those pictures don't have to come up and face. Another guy with the possibility of wearing one because they had another guy where one that they threw but they're still doing a guys. But let's be honest. Right. Like, the, the NFL, you Hugh have a guy where one you have to stride, the plate, as well, my friend, or the chance of ood. That hers it's still wearing. I don't care if you're a pitcher or some ability to whatever that is they're throwing people in the American League. Going back to his point though. That whole it's so Billy dick euless and posted on a Facebook page, that just makes my I mean it's like fingernails on a chalkboard. I it's absurd in again. Joe Torry kudos, ignore it move on. If you're going to have stones make public spectacle out of it, but, you know why they didn't do that because they knew the out the backlash outcry gonna come back at them. That's why they did that kind of way out by using a Facebook post to try to get this silly messes across when it comes to workplace violence. And yes, I put a year, quote, in air quotes, exactly.
