"Well, I might not be just a shot away. It could be just a shoutout away. I will do that. If you send off a good tweet to me at Johnny Mac Man Joo doing And for those of you been listening to the show for loading seven or eight years. I've been doing it here on CBS. Sports radio. I started the Mack Daddy tweeted today, very early in the process within the first couple weeks, and I decided we'd have some fun. The best weekly God, we play a little fun rejoined sounder and kind of gussy it up a little bit on DH. I've done it every show since. The start of CBS Sports Radio and March. When the corona virus hit and I thought that we needed to focus in on Maurin important things, then playing a cute little sounder to whoever sends out the best tweeted today. It's kind of an upbeat thing. Maybe even put a smile on your face kind of thing, And I thought it was too serious a time to be joking around more than anything else. So I put it on hiatus. The mag Daddy treated today has not been picked and sneaking up on five months. And I contemplated bringing it back. When sports restarted when Major league baseball what got underway when they got the bubble rolling down in Disney and the two hub city's started with games. In the National Hockey League in their playoffs. The PGA had already been back. NASCAR had already been back. UFC had already been back horse racing. God bless it never went away. It got held up in several major states. But there was still some racing in pockets of the country where you could stay on top of the game. If you like to play like I do so. It was the returning of the major sports. But even at that What? We were still seeing areas of the country that were skyrocketing with positive tests and alike, and I just have never felt That we had gotten on to the other side of the mountain and we're heading downhill. You know the term that has been used and I use it because others brighter than me and closer to situation. Have you used it, beating back the curve, and it's the curve of the Corona virus. We put a couple of Dan Finito. We moved it slightly in the right direction. But then we also so I had peaked back up in other areas. So for me, Although this is CBS Sports radio, I decided. No, I'm we need a bigger victory than this. Just a little win wasn't going to be enough that I wanted to see us as a country. Take the steps do what was necessary. Make your that we were where we needed to be before we brought back the Mack Daddy tweeted tonight. Now, if that makes it sound like I'm making my own little creation here on the shell a load too self important. Well, maybe you should call me on the carpet for running my mouth a little bit like Brooks Capta like Draymond green like Deon Sanders and Jason just tuning in all three of those guys, I think said something was pretty Fully, if not outright, dumb on DH called them on the carpet for it. And I'm calling athletes on the carpet port when they say dumb things, not that they talk, but when they talk They say foolish things that does get on my nerves. And, yes, all three of the four mentioned individuals got on my nerves in the last two days. So I thought it would be AH, worthwhile. Just chatting about Can you have a habit? Can you have your cake and eat it too? If you want to hear athletes talk if you want to get insight. If you want to be part of the narrative and know the inside stuff that's going on. Then you have to shrug your shoulders when they say something stupid. Or do you? Can you call him on the carpet? Give him a hard time but still desire to see them talk whenever given a chance that they take advantage of the opportunities they have. That's the kind of thing that I would like to know. And I'd like to.

"And all six rooms. We had people family or extended family who lived in those rooms. We don't have that anymore with scattered with separated. We don't have the connection. That's what you're talking about, Don correct that we won't have so therefore we go astray because we don't have The basics and the fundamentals and the involvement that we had. Here we go again. I know that they're going to come back in the day. But that's what we had. And we listen to grown folks and we listen to the scientist and we listen. Franklin Delano Roosevelt. We're not listening. We don't have the leadership and we don't have the people. Has the whole Second serve between what's right and what's wrong at the science, people say where mass Make sure you say distance apart. Wash your hands. And we can't do that. And we're gonna argue about I don't want to wear a mask. You can tell me where I'm at. I have freedom. Go ahead. Don, let me meet this. You go ahead. Well, that's precisely, I guess. What I'm trying to say is that everybody thinks that they're above above that kind of behavior When we we've got to go back listening to that kind of Behavior and do what we're told and Eventually we'll get over this thing. But if we don't, we're not going to get over it. But anyway, enough about that. I want to talk about something that doesn't get too much attention on your show is Philadelphia Flyers right now, Where's it? Love it. That there's a prime example. If if you just became a fan this year and never wash a listen to them in past years, their top three or four players you would think with the weakest players on the team right now that they don't They're not selling the score sheet. They got guys that in the past Well, you just somebody to fill out the roster producing like crazy and that's what wins championships on these teams. You need that production from underneath, like, 70 Sixers, they're going to need it now. Well, thank you point out a very good point and for the people are listening in. We don't get a lot of flour calls, but we want encouraged him to call and make comments. But the fact that as you just said they didn't have the strongest names But they were able to bond together. And through that, at the end of the season, they were playing among the best in the National Hockey League. And the pandemic came and now Do the pandemic. They have emerged as the top seed in the East. So the fact that you would call Don And make a comment on that. Tells you all you need to know. About how you can pull a team together. A M. And make it work. Together E A. M. And how we and Philadelphia should be proud about hockey team and the fact that they are the number one truck. In the and dark. I won't appreciate you for calling having a conversation. We're calling and being a consistent caller and listener. Ah, by the way, A don Yes. Call some of your friends and tell them sunny hills on at 7 a.m. in the morning. Until 10. He's got a new time slot. You wantto listen end. There's a whole lot of good. He's gonna be in at seven o'clock, But as you know, there's a lot of goodies. And the 8 to 10 slot soldier. I'll be the good soldier and do that for you, Sonny. It's way need good soldiers. I'm counting on. You know, I want to call him and say You know, you know why I'm calling Sonny. Why don from Franconia said I should listen in, and I'm hoping that you could say I'm enjoying the conversation, and I just wanna let you know. Thank you, buddy. Thank you very much. Have a good day. My pleasure. Don Closing off. Let me thank my producer. Kyle Quinn, Kyle. I say this and I said Consistent because I want people understand it. You are very special to me. Not only has my producer It is another one of my young guys. Cool. I am able to take under my wing. And being a part of the journey that I'm on. And the journey that I want them to be on. My executive producer, T. M. Can't get it done without you. And without that kind of guidance. I wouldn't be able to do what I'm doing in terms of the new time slot. In closing. Remember this? It's your living room. I'm just a moderator. I want you to stay tuned for Ray and Glenn. They will be following me. And as we go off We're gonna give this to music. Ticketmaster Promises Billions in Refunds for Cancelled Concerts

"From wondering. I'm David Brown. And this is business words daily on this. Wednesday April twenty. Second you know that Katy Perry concert. You're looking forward to okay. I was looking forward to it. Back in the pre pandemic era well Yeah that that's not gonNA happen at least not until twenty twenty one. She said recently. She's not alone either. Thirty thousand shows were cancelled OR POSTPONED DUE TO COVA. Nineteen so far. According to Jared Smith President of ticketmaster. That's the gigantic ticket agency. Owned by the world's largest concert promoter live nation. And it's not like those concerts and ball games are coming back anytime soon. The mayors of New York and Los Angeles don't anticipate allowing any large scale gatherings until there's a cure or vaccine for the corona virus according to variety at the earliest. That'll be late this year but it could take much longer and that uncertainty is causing a big problem for ticketmaster. The company had fantastic year delivering one hundred fifteen million tickets in thirty one countries in two thousand nineteen ticketmaster sells more than thirty billion dollars worth of tickets annually in twenty twenty was predicted to be a banner year that is until Corona virus now ticketmaster. Meinie refund billions of dollars in ticket sales late last week. The company announced that it will refund some ticket. Purchasers starting on May first customers who shows have been cancelled or who don't want to attend them on rescheduled. Dates can apply for refunds. They'll have thirty days to do so customers who shows reschedule later. We'll have a rolling thirty DAYS TO APPLY FOR REFUNDS TICKET. Masters new policy is almost exactly that of rival. Ag which announced it's refund program a few days earlier but ticketmaster is also using a big incentive to persuade customers not to ask for refunds so it can hang onto some of that cash according to variety if a show is cancelled altogether customers can take credit worth one hundred fifty percent of the ticket cost in the plan called Rock. When you're ready customers can apply that credit to an event to be held when the world opens up once again ticket masters. New Refund policy follows significant complaints from critics who claim the company's been holding onto customers money unfairly in response. Ticketmaster explained that it doesn't keep all those billions of dollars in ticket sales rather every week pays concert and festival promoters out of those proceeds so far this year that amounts to more than two billion dollars. The company said at a tweet normally ticketmaster has little trouble refunding tickets for cancelled events but when the entire concert industry shuts down overnight the company needs to recoup those funds before it can issue refunds from a corporate perspective. It's one mammoth cashflow nightmare. But it's also a nightmare for people who are suddenly unemployed and who need those refunds to pay the rent or buy groceries people spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on concert tickets and now in the face of indefinite postponements. They need those funds back. But lack of clarity in delays around refunds is made some customers so angry that they're turning to the courts. Matthew Mcmillan a national hockey league fan in Wisconsin was aggravated that ticket. Resellers STUB HUB hadn't refunded the price of tickets to a suspended hockey game so earlier. This month filed a five million dollar class action lawsuit against the company according to Billboard magazine. Stop Hub resells about five billion dollars worth of tickets. Every year like ticketmaster in order to issue thousands of refunds. It says it first needs to recoup the cash paid to the original ticket holders in some ways stubs. Problem is even more tangled than ticket masters since its tickets come from thousands of individual sellers and think about that for a second if your brain let you the original ticket holders purchase tickets to live events that are now cancelled or iffy. Where'd they buy them? Probably ticketmaster or A. E. G. Stop up now. Says IF AN EVENT IS CANCELLED IT WON'T ISSUE REFUNDS. Instead it'll give ticket holders a coupon worth one hundred twenty percent of the original ticket price that credit will be good for a year stubhub said in a statement late in. March. By month's end the company said almost three quarters of ticket holders had accepted the credit but that class action lawsuit filed by the Wisconsin Hockey Fan. He says he bought the tickets on. The basis of stub hubs longstanding. Money-back guarantee. Now he's asking the courts to forbid stubhub from issuing those credits and force it to refund the cash according to billboard the customers lawyer accused stub hub of quote putting its hands in the customer's pockets at a time of the greatest. Financial suffering in recent history stub declined to comment on the lawsuit. According to The New York Times. The refund mess is just one of the problems hitting the entire music

"In the National Hockey League elected to believe his game going to be playing with happened Brandon Saad in this one so. step for some of these guys after putting themselves in a good position to earn this opportunity is critical the second key is the line combinations that we'll see tonight looking for some chemistry looking for some guys that might fit during the regular season the pairings on the blueline full force is playing with Duncan Keith that's a big opportunity for both was to see if he can play with Duncan Keith during the regular season possibly and the third key is to continue to work on the system the German Colton distressing with these guys thanks for those keys quickly I want to mention that this is the pre season debut for Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford he's going to get the start here tonight then he's a veteran he's earned that right I mean is at that point in his career where he's earned that right to not have the gold plated road games if he so chooses he's a team guy is always going to do what he can't help the team because of his experience it is better. he gets the started a home game I think that's kind of a nice night bye the organization and the head coach. the way it should be. user you know you don't see a lot of guys who were the better players like cadence age to play in the road slash several feet quite a lot they don't have the little road where preseason game the one thing we'll see here tonight is the brother combinations Dylan. or both the line up for the blackrock here tonight they're playing on different lines but both of those will play in tonight's game they played last year in Ottawa in an exhibition game a preseason.

He'll tell them Wilson out in front, and watching seven ten let them second to, to one. Now back to forts overnight America with Jeff rich pizzas. Pizzas. We are back just a couple of finals to get in the National Hockey League from Monday night was Toronto. Three Boston, one up in Toronto. So that one's going to go back to Boston for game seven no game. Seven necessary in the other Eastern Conference game that we saw on Monday night in Columbus, and was the hometown blue jackets once again, failing to advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs something that they have done every time they've made the playoffs, they have been one and done. And this is Washington's opportunity. There eleventh shot at the Pittsburgh Penguins in the playoffs and would you believe that just one of the first ten occasions, the Washington Capitals managed to get past the Pittsburgh Penguins in hockey and we're going to get another chance to see it? We'll see who ends up who has. A plant for the Eastern Conference in the NHL on up CNN who plays for the Western Conference in the NHL, but seven of the final eight spots are spoken for you'll have the predators and the jets in one of your Western Conference semifinals on the other side, you'll get Vegas in San Jose very regional matchup or regional that you're going to get with Winnipeg and Nashville. However, we got rid of Colorado, we got rid of the Minnesota while we got rid of the Los Angeles Kings. And we got rid of the other teams or of the Anaheim ducks so sharks night's second round. Everybody's gonna be the nights series. Everybody likes a good story. I'm told that I'm supposed to bring this to air to see that the historical cop Vegas does not existence for you. Have to go. Almost political war with this whole thing, and I would look at the Las Vegas gold nights as the United States of America. That was late to the game one last to arrive at the table, but just showed up it started dating at that is exactly how I would describe the Las Vegas Golden Knights. And there are Naga real season in the National Hockey League. They might just be the best. We might have gone from thirty to thirty one and added one that was better than the existing thirty. About that. Everything about how long it's take it the Thrashers slash jets franchise to grow into it. Competitive. Sign dusted offline right after he won the Stanley Cup of Chicago to twenty. And this is probably one of their better themes, national not to be forgotten about. Advanced to the finals, a year ago, I gave Pittsburgh better shot that we saw from San Jose, the year before a team that we saw because we, we've been seeing Pittsburgh, not getting into the Stanley Cup final and a team that is every bit as good as their record every bit as good as their number one seating. They took down the New Jersey Devils in the opening round. They wait for the litter of game seven between Boston and Toronto and. Toronto replay house money. If the that point Boston, it will be written up as a huge disappointment, Columbus the way that they started yields going to be looked at as disappointing but not, not quite a level that we would say goodbye to the Boston Bruins, if they do not advanced, the can't obey lady in the next round catch pads van Pence, be favored. I don't have. I don't have anything scientific other that I just think that it's time for Washington to go. Get off the puck quite frankly. You're do anything Alexandra can you gotta do it now, should do it soon. Then Nashville Vegas. That would be my preferred matchup. "You've been Rosberg you could show up at these guys. How are you going to talk to me? We're going to sit down, and they would have listened if he would have came out and said, hey, I just being matured. I need to be a better leader. That whole thing with the best squad. I got it up because you told me a brownies you already know they're immature. Here's the thing when you're maturity is through the normal natural evolution what you're saying is correct. That process move when this abrupt when Tiger Woods abrupt being a brook things change. Everything your world flips upside down, and you make changes like that. It takes time for things to crystallize. And I think that's where Ben Rothlisberger is now before we go. I'll have to say a word or two about the most improbable and entertaining playoff season we've ever seen, and it's happening in the National Hockey League, you still have time to catch a piece of it as the Saint Louis blues and the Boston Bruins clash in the Stanley Cup final starting Monday night. Let me get you up to speed the to number one seeds calorie, and Tampa Bay both lost in the first round seriously. After winning a record six two games in the regular season and drawing comparisons to some Wayne Gretzky. All time. Great Edmonton teams, the Tampa Bay Lightning exited the postseason in just four games swept by the Columbus blue jackets. That's the equivalent of the seventy three win Golden State Warriors getting swept in the first round of the two thousand sixteen NBA playoffs crazy isn't it but it's Tampa's collapsed. That's even more crazy. That's the store. There's a story even more crazy than that. The Saint Louis blues in the first week of January, the blues were in last place across the NHL..

"Game in Berlin a couple of days before they do the game and Brian. Exciting. It's cool to see the NHL starting to branch out. And I think that you know, we go to Cuban here for a second. You know, we are more we have to now we really don't want to make this one point. You know, we're more internationally known. Okay. Maybe and know, your bigger, China, and whatever however outside of that you look at the eastern European countries. The NHL is huge it soccer. And it's hockey in these countries and even the finish Finland Sweden all the Scandinavian countries. It's huge out there. Okay. All right. All right. So hold on a second. No, the NBA has a reach in professional basketball has a reach unfortunately throughout AustralAsia. That's a big word for all your raider fans out there. And also as a big reach in South America as well. Right. And I'm not saying that it doesn't have a big reach. I what I'm saying is the NHL has an equally big reach in those countries. How about seeing a whole NHL league over in Africa because they're going to do that with basketball what professional basketball, you're gonna see teams in Nigeria and South Africa in all kinds of other places down there. They're going to have a separate leaked down. Or did you hear about that? But if they want to do that also. In the National Hockey League down there. I got to be really hard for the ice freeze down there. But they've got air conditioning. I know that was a horrible joke. But yeah, I think that it would love to see the NHL expanded different countries. I would love to see the K H L become kind of merging with the NHL a little closer. No, they're already a minor league team for our minor league system for the NHL to see if bought up a little closer, basically triple A for the National Hockey League. What you agree. No. I think that triple eight for the National Hockey League. Joe, I think the K H L is a great place for European players to be noticed any known. I know, but I think really that level of play the overall level of player is just slightly under the product of the National Hockey League. So I really believe the cage L is kind of like the triple A league for the NHL. I would say that if we're going to make this comparison of the of the NC double A being the triple A of the NBA than the would be the NBA DL Japanese baseball league is the triple A league really major league baseball, and you can find so many great talents that there. I'm just saying that. From the NHL. I'm not deluding my pool. I'm not saying, okay. We're only popular in the United States and Canada. And that's it. And that's all know expand out. It goes far as you want to go try going to China. You know during the during the Winter Olympics hockey, they loved themselves, some hockey and you look at Russia. Russia, obviously, you have a lot of great hockey players that come out of back country. So expand outs more try to get some NHL games in Moscow. Try to get them in Saint Peter's by the NHL needs to reach further east instead of staying in western Europe. I absolutely agree. And you know, it's kind of funny I talked to a couple of people that I know that our English, and they said before we got to America before we got to the United States and saw it. We never knew what hockey was maybe start putting some stuff in England start putting some in France. I get rid of that Premier League. Nobody watches that here in this country for the most part. I don't know why NBC pushes that. It's ridiculous. But I'll tell you what else I'm gonna tip my hat. Give a big round of applause for each Zouqi walks.

You're staying in Florida you've done these road trips before you're at the hotels, you're on the the private flights a little different from the old days when he was playing for the Miramax sharks? And you guys are gonna peak in Peoria, say the best western, right? And three dads and three boys and a van or a car. Yeah. It's a lot different. But I would never trade in those days. You know, those were great days. Those were the days where you're right. You know, not every parent can go and every trip in your you depended on certain days to grab four or five guys grabbing a band and go travel, and you pay the way and and the whole experience, but some really good memories. I'm sure with you and fill in patent fill all your kids for that matter. Oh, yeah. I can remember mom would take. Jessica indianapolis. I take Patrick the Orleans park Chicago. So well worth and I'm sure though, yes, it was all due respect. Pat, always had great hands hit incredible vision. I remember playing them as a kid. But you know, he was bigger. He was slower. He was very awkward, and I think arguably he may be the biggest surprise of eating Saint Louis kid to make it to the National Hockey League. What really stood out about that? Or how can you explain that while you're right about that? When he was. When he was a young boy, he what he was overweight. But. I can remember him being in my garage hours at a time by himself fooling around with the stick. You know, I put a plywood against the wall and hit against all day long. But he grew up in the roller hockey industry and. You know, the shard strides and whatnot. So yeah, it was I had no clue I thought he was just going to go to Linda, Linda university. Play roller hockey, you know, but he he somehow, you know, lightbulb clicked and he had a good tournament one year. I think it was thirteen or fourteen years old in Philadelphia. "The trauma of leaves have acquired defenseman Jake Muhsin from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for forward, Carl French drum the rights to Sean dursey who is a recent traffic answering us first round pick in the twenty nineteen NHL draft Faysal Kameda taken away six months. I'm sorry. This is really the key is ability to play the pop end of our defense that plane all obviously growing up, you know, everyone is released fan and those included who know kind of funny how life works and here we are coming back home to play for the team going up kind of. Probably that, you know, as well Ricard Grahn bring this week national coach will be aboard here in a couple of moments looking forward to talking to him about a number of things the differences between key players in North America and Sweden and the chances of him showing up behind the bench in the National Hockey League and other issues that revolve around but are not exclusive to Swedish hockey players. So stay tuned for Ricard Grundberg here on the podcast and a couple of moments. Meantime, Jake Muhsin is now ex of the Los Angeles Kings. He's now a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs on that blue line with one more year on his ticket at four million dollars a copy to which Elliott Friedman says blank, I said, I think it's a good trade for them. I mean, they're in it to win it right now. And they didn't take anything off of their roster. You know, I think one of the reasons that they did not go with some other possibilities including the likes of Brett, patchy and Alex. Her Angelo is that it was going to cost them pieces off their current roster. I don't know what the talks with Carolina turned out to be or not be. But it was going to involve a player either, captain or Yonsin or something like that. I have heard and I do believe that the talks was Saint Louis for Pedder. Angelo involve William knee Lander which Toronto did not want to do. So that was something they were not willing to consider as we saw they could do Muhsin without taking off their current roster. And I think Muslim was a guy that they are interested in even though he's a left hand shot. And what I've heard is. They were Muslin's most diligent and aggressive pursuer. I believe Montreal been there. He was in the patch ready deal. The aboard the L, and I think that's Tampa was there. But when it really mattered who was the team that was aggressive. It was Toronto. And he was the guy they targeted. Let's say there must have been other teams. You mentioned Montreal you mentioned Tampa's while you do wonder about a team like the boss. Bruins. How much of this is the maple leaves got Muhsin and someone else that may police may face in the playoffs. Didn't I think there's something to that? But again, the only other teams I really heard were Tampa Montreal. I'm sure there were others. I can't say for sure that they were there may believes done. I think they'll look for a right hand D. But now it's dollar in dollar out. Now, you can look at sites like cap friendlier puck pedia, and you can say, okay, they've still got a boat, you know, some cap room about four million cap room. But what you don't want is Mitch modern Austin Matthews bonuses to go into next year. You know, the fact that monitored and go to the all star game eliminated one of those bonuses. But I think your budgeting I was told for about three point seven five million. So you've got to keep that doesn't happen. So it's dollar in dollar out for the Maple Leafs. Now who does this help the most on that blue line? Some would make the point that this helps Riley Frederik Anderson someone made the point that it helps Travis Thurman. Because it moves Ron Haines you down to a lesser role probably paired with him. Yeah. Probably I think that's all true..

"You can really get lost in there and get lost a lotta this kind of stuff so happy one hundred first birthday to the National Hockey today. What's up NHL? Let's talk about the Montreal Canadians. The what what are the Canadians do? Well, I mean, obviously there powerplays is. It's not something. They're proud of. But other than that. What? What does Montreal do? Well, you know, they've gotten resurgence from guys like like max Domi he had eighteen goals who's rookie year for the Zona coyotes eighteen the next two years. So he's involved in the trade back in June on the fifteenth for Alex golf Chechnya. Nick didn't exactly panel to be what everyone wanted him to be in Montreal. So the trade goes down on June fifteenth max Domi comes from Montreal. Obviously, everyone knows about tie Domi. Right. Everyone knows what tie Domi the National Hockey League. Max is definitely more of a. An all around player. He has fourteen goals tied for first on the Montreal Canadians with Gallagher nineteen assists leads the team sodas thirty-three points. So performances like that the youngest player in the National Hockey League is just very cooking Yemi. He's one of the first players to play in the National Hockey League. That was born in the two thousands was born July six two thousand so these after the the white UK crisis is so he's got thirteen insists on the year, which is fourth among all rookies. So they're getting contribution from guys like that, you know, after they move on from gal. And max patch ready was traded to the Vegas Golden Knights. So they're they're sorta getting those performances and the veterans are coming through as well. She Weber's come back. He's played ten games. Now. Four goals, three assists, seven points in ten games for him. Nobody on his scored more goals in the National Hockey League. The last ten seasons been shea Weber. He's got one hundred sixty eight breadth Burns's next one behind him with one hundred and fifty eight so those are the type guys. They're getting performances from it's feast or famine with them if they win they score a lot of goals if they lose it don't score any. We'll talk about that coming up in the key Bank. All right. Speaking witch, how about the key Bank. We like to segue right here. Don't we? Mark Burton knowing we gotta talk about special teams, you alluded to it. Montreal has the thirtieth ranked power play in the National Hockey League in the twenty fifth ranked penalty kill the ads third-ranked power play in the National Hockey League have to score with the man advantage and to not take penalties fourth most penalized team in the league. Their PK has dropped to a dismal sixty six point seven percent over the last seven games with the apps that is just not good enough. Montreal power play over twenty five their last eight games. But it's the same story for the New York. Islanders on Monday. Don't be the team to get the power play going for the opposition. This is the worst Montreal power play since nineteen sixty seven the last Montreal power play goal was on December first versus the New York. Rangers scored by Tomas Tatar the apps have to score power play goal tonight. And I would say have to keep a clean sheet when it comes to the penalty kill if for anything good habits, sake keenum or two we mentioned the feast or famine Montreal. Wins. They score a ton of goals. Twenty four goals scored during wins this month. Two goals. Scored in losses. The ads have been leading goals lately. Hopefully with group our getting the star tonight that'll help five and one of the east this year. The only loss was the first star the season at Columbus to and over the Atlantic as well Varlamov at goals-against average of over for the past ten days, which is which is not good. That means a group our has to come in even with his bat numbers. He seven two and three on the year. He took the laws versus Edmonton last week. He's got the best goal support in the NHL, which means when he starts the app score a lot more goals. They have to keep keeping that offensive. But I would like to see two or less goals allowed by Philip group. Our tonight. And if the x-ray able to do that and get the special teams going again where they should be. I say they should come away with two points tonight. I I almost would say they need to points tonight, just for for confidence sake playing at home against Montreal. Canadian Connor is always we'll continue with the pre-game show after a quick time out right here on the altitude radio.

"This morning the Commissioner of the National Hockey League. Made a lot of hockey fans in Seattle, very very happy this morning. The board of governors unanimously approved a plan of expansion that will bring a National Hockey League team to Seattle Washington to play beginning in the two thousand twenty one two thousand twenty two CS Commissioner Gary Bettman is still unnamed team will play just a few years. From now comes mad mortgage traveled to Georgia for the announcement. He's good enough to join us on the KOMO news line. So in terms of that one year delay man that was really I think the only disappointment that came out of this announcement because people are so excited about getting a team here. What exactly led to that delay? But I think it was all the obvious things that everybody's been talking about. There was no guarantee that redo keyarena would be done in time for that twenty twenty season. Even if by best estimates, it would be delayed the season for the first season for the Seattle team will be delayed by a month in terms of playing in its own arena and the any show as well as the owners, David Bonderman and CEO toddler Wicky. Just basically agreed that we wanna have a good footing for this team. They wanna have a great start for it. They wanna have a good fan experience. They don't wanna have what happened in Las Vegas with a new T mobile arena there where. On the first hockey game. They had they were still putting in seats in the upper rafters, literally. And so they went Seattle, but have a great experience. And so they basically it was a I hate to see us what you talked about yesterday, but a slam dunk they decided right away the twenty twenty one season was going to be the start and they wanna give Seattle a good chance to be a winning team. So now what what happens? Well, it's the excitement is still going on. I mean, it was really fun for me to be part of this two day meeting and actually see history in the making. I think what was interesting. It was kind of what's what's happening behind the scenes, if you don't mind if I share please the what would happen is this morning. The the owners of the team were held in a room bright across the hall from the big meeting room. We're all day NATO owners were now they were ready to answer any questions, but that never came about. And so tall by Wicky who's the COO he Kurt she walked up to the big doors. It's just like two doors like in the cabinets hotel, and he heard. Heard their video playing and he said to himself. That's a good sign. I liked that video. I'm hoping they liked the video and a few minutes later, they invited everybody into the room the ownership, and they basically said they held up their hands. And each owner shook the hand of every other owner and all the owners said, good luck. Good luck. And that's how they knew that they had a team KamAz, ma'am. Markovits? You'll have more on this throughout the evening on KOMO four. News methane so much for your time. Safe travels back from Georgia and securing an NHL team for Seattle is a real personal victory for mayor, Jenny durken. Komo's Corwin Hake reports. She cheered the announcement alongside fans at an early morning party Durkin showed up at Henry's tavern in south lake union for the expansion announcement and listened as NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman gave her credit for helping make this happen. Both for her critical work on the arena redevelopment project and for her enthusiastic. Support of bringing the NHL to Seattle. Durkan says her goal was to ensure. Sure bolts team and arena owners are fully invested in the city of Seattle. I grew up here. I lost to sports teams the pilots in the Sonics. I wanted this team to stay at home, the local ownership deeply, so I think we're going to have kids and their kids much remains to be decided, for example, what will this team be called fans like the Sakai's or the orcas Durkan favors the cracking? We now have three years to settle that question. And of course to get the new arena ready to go in south lake union. Corwin hake. Komo news. All right. Let's talk some sports from the Harley exteriors sports desk at Lisa Jaffe. What are you one? Oh, six in line for season tickets, and I don't like the crack, and you don't like the crack it wouldn't be. We hadn't one of our stories. I was a bit surprised because I heard a gal say that she liked ice dragons, which I kind of like has it's a poll from game of thrones. Yeah. But I'd rather have Sakai's because I could just see the shirts. I I would I would be happy as well. Well, I don't think so I don't like that. Because you've got the New York Mets already. All right. You don't have the. Okay. All right Sakai. Okay. Suck is. At least Jesse Jaffe says we should be done with that debate. Right. All right. So other news to tell you about on this Tuesday. A lot of Pac twelve football hardware, heading to the state of Washington cougar head coach Mike Leach name the coach of the year and the conference his quarterback Gardner men's shoe named the offensive player of the year and husky linebacker. "I think falls on the feet of those guys in when bet was able to come in. He came in with an MBA attitude to expand it, so I'm not spitting on the man's grave. I'm just saying that when we analyze his tenure I do not look at that is a great time in the history of the National Hockey League. Well, I mean, I think there was probably ups and downs in as part of his tenure as there would be with anyone I think that it was a different era for sure in sports. And in the world and television, and the way we view things, and I don't know if the NHL was really ready for too much expansion during that window from the late seventies to the early nineties. I would say you could criticize the league and the way they did things for the you know, the way they ran the the television of package, and I think that they were on it might have been on ESPN, and they went to sports channel America. I think was somewhere in that window, and then they came back ESPN. So I mean, those are things that you know, you would look at it. I think you're right. When you say, I mean, the owners are the ones that really at the end of the day, we're on the show. I mean, and the it's always it's always a different, you know, different Aaron different way just think he was president not the Commissioner rights. So that sells you something right there. He's been in insurance for many many years, but it will to kinda crew power over that time. And so it's just I think it's a different world. And you know, I think John Ziegler was the man at that time, and he was kind of a guardian for the owners, but I don't think he has nearly the the power that the Commissioner holds today in the National Hockey League. So I think that there's room for criticism to your point. And I think there's probably some things that he was able to help hold together at a time. When again things were different business was different the world is different. Now. You know, it's the thing about, you know, I I can remember that whole thing with the devils to when they were into in whole they have with Jim Schoenfeld. And and he was off in Europe. That was not a good look for the National Hockey League for sure, but there was other things that John Ziegler was a was a positive force in for hockey. And you know, when Gary Bettman came in it really just did did take off. And I think Gary deserves a lot of. Edit. More than people are willing to give them sometimes especially fans. They don't understand that. That's really the business and the way things I'm grown dramatically in the last twenty twenty five years. Now, speaking of that growth, the NHL announces today a partnership with MGM resorts. So you're starting to see these commissioners now embrace gambling the NFL not so much, but but the rest of the sports realizing that this is an avenue it's legalized now in Canada in New Jersey, different parts of the country. I mean, I think it's time to recognize this. I get that there are pitfalls. I never asked you how you felt about it. But I think this is a brave new world. And I think it's important for these sports to embrace it. Yeah. Hey, listen, stay out. Right. So it's I think you have two choices you can stick your head in the sand or you can try to get a piece of the action so to speak, and I think it's probably wise through the ladder. This is another potential, you know, big revenue stream for hockey. And you know, let's face it. The NFL one of the things that has made the NFL so popular over the years of a number of things. That kind kinda fall in their favor is the fact that people like the battle took ballgames and if now with legalize yeah, blowing if people are betting on hockey games. And that means they're going to have more interest in watching hockey games that could that could nothing but good well the National Hockey League. So, you know, this is the world we live in two thousand eighteen it is legal to do it in New Jersey..

"Doug's build back on the street guy's dukes back the truck in the Trump for like an hour. Ruined the heart warming feeling the warm fuzzies evaporated when did the Trump is opening? No, he's not. No the dog. The dog is great. I was reading a story last night about a person who has been homeless for while which is even more heart wrenching than the dog who was on the street for what three years you said. Said, well, this guy from the National Hockey League he had made read about him. Yes, he's in Canada, and he's homeless. Now during his hockey career, he made thirteen million dollars a fifteen year career. Joe, Joe Murphy. Yeah, Joe Murphy. His last three years he had. He had a three year, ten million dollar contract. So the guy made ten billion in his last three years. However, now he's on the street and he's been on the street for several years and he's estranged from his family, and he's goes in and out of being, you know, coherent because they think he has c. t. he got severe horrible concussions during his hockey career, and it changed his personality, they say, but the guy will go in and out of really great memory from his hockey days hill say, you know, coherent things about his life, and then he'll be mumbling gibberish the next minute. Then he's telling a story about his hockey. Then he's telling his story about his dad treating him badly. Then he's off on some other tangent, and then he's okay again for a while. It's kinda weird, but this this reporter spent a lot of time with them and apparently, you know, hockey, they love hockey in Canada, and he's in the small Canadian town, and they the police found out who he was and then it kind of. Spread through the community. So people will stop by and give him stuff all the time because they're huge fans, and he, they can't get him off the street though because he doesn't want to go. But towards the end of the story, he talks about how they got somebody from the NHL who deals with. Former hockey players and helping them and one of his former teammates, and they flew up there to Canada to try to find him. They did find him in the got an apartment, and they set him up with food and they, you know, they got them all situated and then he left it all. That's just so hard. What do you do with people who don't want help? I don't. I don't know what to do. You can put the dog in the trunk and just driving back home. You can't put the person at the truck and just driving back home. It's hard and you know, like the the reporter said, you can't force him. You can't force him to stay in a place. So he doesn't freeze to death outside and Canada. It's already snowing there. You can't force him to live in an apartment. You can't force him to go to a shelter. Really tough. It's tough situation. I, I don't know what to do about it, but it was that that was a heart wrenching story, triple eight, nine hundred thirty. Three Ninety-three more.

"It's a five three Buffalo Sabres lead here with five seventeen to go in period number three in Oshawa, Ontario. Dan, Levy robbery and Paul Hamilton. Jeff Skinner scored the last savers goal this game to this point was a power play goal at thirteen four the second period. Ryan. At fifteen thirty four the second with a power play goal to get the islanders with a two. But some pretty good defensive minded play by buffalo in this third carried and also some darn good goaltending. By Carter Hutton very steady in goal. Keeping it a two goal lead to this point Abberley up. The right side is the islanders scape from left to right. The buffalo zone brought down to the ice by Jake McCabe. Islanders looking for a call. Don't get one in. Meanwhile, dole lean will carry it across the islanders lying cuts to the middle. Lost the puck played off the boards and Lee makes his way into buffalo. Territories got Bailey going into the net scores what a shot by others. Does he picks up his second of the night? And all of a sudden, Paul Hamilton. Rob you to sit back for a minute. Thanks. Let Paul take this one over. So well Nelson was upset with Skinner Skinner put down in the neutral zone. So coming back up ice Nelson hooks Darlene right to the ice takes him out of the play. So now the islands have been outnumbered situation coming in Darlene was absolutely furious coming back into his own because he was taken out of the play and couldn't get back. But Nelson got away with it. Welcome to the National Hockey League. They know who's trying to get back. So now it's a one goal game. And at one point in the second period this game did have a little feistiness to it. So maybe we'll have that here for the next four minutes at twenty five seconds islanders, but Thomas crise goal after Robin. Leonard started and did play the first half. This is Barzel it across the buffalo line pavilion. The boards watched by Pomodoro who tips and in islander territory. Grace will leave it for. Number two, very hard shot. Pass hunting for one of the islander goals, and he continues to make his way down into buffalo territory. Left wing corner bars following up broad Rigas there defensively he gets enough to clear it down the ice. We'll let have enough to go. No, they wave it off. So no icing and three forty eight to go in the final period here preseason. Islanders to center Homer off Kenneth Vance. Thompson is back below the goal line in his own zone. Kovac with the steel tried to center nice defensive play to break it up as Dolly got down to block the Paso now boy checkup top with a shot looking for the deflections comes all the way to the fire Ford's now Kudaka for the corner.

"Happy Wednesday welcome back to came wax the big news announced. Right here, live on camel extra Raritan show Joe. Vitale joining Chris Kerber which is gonna arguably want, to be one of the best play-by-play team combinations in the National Hockey League when Kelly chase calls in and says the nice. Things he did and Kelly did a fabulous job he, was awesome for eighteen years to to walk into those shoes and. To come in and boy we've got a little taste of it. He already, knows so much about this hockey club You know and youth hockey in Saint Louis and. What it means let's just exploded in the time that Joey's been, around you hockey and Saint Louis. Is off the charts man Chris you you know you've cover the pro team for us. But you, know this product of our local hockey. Right here I mean you know it is awesome It it just shows you where it's gone but it shows. You where, yet it can go and You know he didn't have, a chance like Cam Johnson did and Ben Bishop and And Paul Stassen Jon. Stashower as well and you know and now Pat maroon to put that jersey on and I think it speaks some. Great, volumes to where he's come to look for these guys to get noticed here again we're going to have another Saint Louis blue or is another Saint Louis kid playing, in the NHL this year. Hopefully and break Chuck if he makes the Ottawa team you decided to, go pro, and that speaks volumes to. Where this team fans have said this, couple you know for last couple of years but in the last, two years ago, when you had five Saint Louis, kids drafted, in, the first round not just drafted right drafted in the first round you know you'll you'll have, stretches where you don't have five from, the same country drafted in the first round much less from the same city. It it's it's, a great, product, of and it's the hard. Work of, the moms the, dads prolonged the coaches volunteering, the people running the, rings you know by the way we've got a great tomorrow, huge event tomorrow morning huge announcement with the groundbreaking of the, new ice rink is Heights, so needed you, know and so needed with four, new ice, sheets, and and it's gonna be a big part of what we do hey Chris while you're here, let's stretch out on some other sports, Saint Louis sports we know you're the expert on hockey but boy we just. Went through a, really special, week, here in Saint Louis wasn't. It I, was out there, three days I went out, to Wednesday with my, daughters one of them lucky enough to get Phil Mickelson's autograph Tally, was early Saturday, I, thought the organizers did an. Amazing job the logistics nothing's ever going to be perfect but I thought the, logistics were just outstanding the, way they do, it they, should be, commended for, and you know what and I think we got to throw a big thing out there to the all the. Volunteers, totally, that made it, happen and and especially the people that. Were working the. Parking lots in the different areas to. Make it, happen it was a great experience and you know Chris I watch, golf every? Weekend I'm obsessed with it the. Way that you are with hockey and you. Know if you watch every weekend there's always idiots yelling Buoy crazy stuff man the patrons here in Saint Louis were so well. Behaved it. Was just it was I. Guess what we would all expect but I think it shocked everybody else I think. I think there was an understanding that this wasn't just a tournament this was a major and I don't know about you guys but it hit me a couple of times like you out there watching just watching the guy's golfing wait a minute this is a major this. Is one of the four big ones every. Year and I thought it was great to, hear the golfers praised the fans and of. Course in the city I, think everybody should be really proud and this will? Lead right into the rest of the show for you guys it is it is a perfect example it is one example. Of what can happen in this area sports or non sports this happens with other events throughout town sports. Or non non-sports when you, find a way, to, find some level of middle. Ground in there and make something happen because a lot had to come together, for this and they had, to have cooperation from Saint Charles because, of some of the parking there in. Maryland heights in and thin and there had to be this was not just. A singular thing that happened everybody had to come together to, make it happen really shouldn't be something special it should be common practice but hopefully we will find. A way to. Get there is a. Region but boy it was special I think the lasting, image for me obviously Brooks cap go will all remember that forever but. When tiger walked off eighteenth and, he went over the bridge I don't know if you were watching it on Sunday in that sea of people and. The respect. That went to tiger that. That was the the the picture it was incredible it was an incredible week and. Speaking of incredible John Gant was over thirty offer thirty Michael he hadn't gotten a hit in the big leagues he steps up to the plate and a one nothing game last night and this happened Dan looks to get his first big league hit Here's.
