Fresh update on "national hockey league" discussed on The Ray & Dregs Hockey Podcast

"And that's kind of something that I've learned along the way. And as a big, you know, bigger guy in this league, you want to keep that physicality up, but you also want to be relied upon that. You can make plays and be out there and increase your situation. So, you know, right now, the conference is there. And it's been a good balance. Matt dumbo was saying after you guys beat the leafs at, you know, it's pretty cool to, you know, you plan on Saturday night and people that don't normally get to see the Minnesota wild play, get a chance to see you play. And it was a wildly entertaining game. That kind of cool for you guys to get, you're getting a little league wide notoriety that maybe people didn't notice before. Yeah, it was an exciting leading up to the game. We had a lot of exciting jitters for that one. I mean, it was to make a statement for our team. Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I grew up in Canada and was able to play in Buffalo for so long. We played the leafs a lot that, you know, maybe I got a little numb to the hockey night in Canada thing. It was just something used to it, but there was just something for our team to showcase ourselves and then we took it upon us and it was a great game. Toronto is a heck of a team and obviously has great scores and we wanted to show that we're at the top of the division for a reason. And it ended up being a great game. So yeah, we were excited for that for that Saturday night puck drop and games like that bring out the best there and it's just nice to hear a whole team step up and then play that way. And obviously get that win against Ronald was big for our group, which is confidence. You know, Marcus, that one also added some feistiness to it as well. First period, you get into a dust up with Wayne Simmons and the media was quick to jump on social media anyways saying, oh, folio should get ten games for leaving the bench. I mean, that was the automatic response. Capri's off stays on the bench as you jump up, and then you come back and engage. Now, as we know, the National Hockey League didn't see it the way some media portrayed it. But as you're coming out of all of that, are you thinking oh jeez, did I just make a pretty significant error here? Well, I'll take it back. When I got on the, I got the puck on the wall and I made a flood past the.

Montreal Canadiens' Shea Weber Could Miss Next Season Because of Injuries

"But then you look at shea weber. I thought he was tremendous in the playoffs in particular in the stanley cup final. I mean brayden. Point was ready to lose his mind in that series because every time he looked up he saw this mountain of a human being shea weber and there's a laundry list right of of injuries. It's the foot it's the knees it's the ankle. It's the hands. I mean on and on and on it goes so it's a developing story. We don't know that shea weber is packing news at five more years left and a lot of money on the table. You know could be placed on long-term injury for potentially the entire season twenty one twenty two well. The national hockey league has to dive into that. So we're going to revisit this in many headlines to come here on the ranger eggs podcast. But it's it's a sad one isn't it because four. Renovations Put Seattle Hockey Arena Closer to Zero-Carbon Goal

"Seattle crack and will join the national hockey league. This fall when the puck drops on their home ice. It'll be inside a stadium. That's designed with more than hockey goals in mind seattle's old keyarena was recently renovated and it's been renamed. Climate pledge arena by amazon which acquired the naming rights the name highlights goal set by amazon and more than fifty other companies becoming carbon neutral by twenty forty the arena itself will be carbon neutral much sooner. There's a lot agree momentum and opportunity to have meaningful impact here. Logan gerkin is with mortensen. The firm renovating the arena. His team improved the buildings energy efficiency and replace systems that ran on natural gas with electric. And so this encompass changes in all of the kitchen cooking facilities boilers hot water. From Public Defender To Stanley Cup Champion

"So joe for those who might not follow the nhl super closely. Can you just give us a sense of what jon cooper has accomplished during his as a coach in the nhl. Definitely jon cooper is the longest tenured coach shell. He's on an eight th anniversary of his hiring on this week. The winningest coach in franchise history for the lightning. And i think he's highly regarded as one of the better coaches in the league and probably a candidate coach team. Canada at the next olympics are positions and olympics for the trump player so deadly highly regarded coach but up until this past season. He hasn't won the big one and that was kind of the big question surrounding it. And how would you describe his personality. Well he's a players go. She's a really fun personality. Like you quotes wedding crashers. Upper seventy six. No excuses public champion. You uses a champion. The only person you have to answer to when you go home at night is really yourself. The national media loves him because he is a great world this charismatic. You're going to get knocked down. There's no question people are going to push down. Because ultimately they want to see it fail if you think maybe teams on trips to like field of dreams when he was in earlier years coaching. He's all about the different sides and binding guys together on the ice and that if you get is connected as a group and the for each other and very process over outcome kind of guy and so you definitely has that charisma that makes them unique. I think the players like that. We'll show you recently. Wrote about how jon cooper has followed perhaps the most unconventional path of any stanley cup winning coach. So take us back to the late. Nineteen ninety s. What was john. Cooper's lifelike at that time he was living in a condo east lansing area couple remains but he was just trying to figure out where you wanted to be in his life. What he wanted to do for work. He was good ball. Charismatic lawyer but his heart wasn't in it always always wondering when is the fulfillment. When are you going to sit there and wake up every day and say. I can't wait to go do what i'm gonna do. He was defender district court in lansing michigan about a thousand dollars a month. You know we're going for indigent clients. He was working on. du is having divorces. You've got a two person law. Office him in a paralegal. He's still didn't know i guess. Were taken at that point. And you got in touch with the judge. Who worked with jon cooper back. Then what did he say about cooper skills in the courtroom and you just notice and how clients clients listen to prosecutors respected him i think is the kind of ability that transcends coaching the ability to persuade players to adopt your system or just believe the approach. So you know. He's he's a good salesman. He always says convincing players. Convincing a jury and i don't think he knew then that it would be kind of the key to him. Maybe starting coaching career. So how did jon cooper go from being this lowly paid lawyer and a former lacrosse player. Who had only played a year of club hockey in college to being high school hockey coach. Well the run in his son playful lansing catholic high school and they needed a coach and so he knew of john skills on the ice and new of his charisma and then he is asked to one day in the building. I saw the coach. would you be interested. He looks at me and goes. Dc the stack of resumes. I have he says. I'll tell you one thing you coach kids high school hockey team and i will take your resume from here. We put it here. Just this exactly. That was his first kind of foray into coaching hockey. Was nine thousand nine hundred nine hundred thousand lansing catholic cougars hockey team and that was seventeen. You actually talked to some of the players on that lansing catholic team. What did they tell you about jon. Cooper the high school coach. I think what's interesting knees. They remember the first meeting in the cafeteria where he's using himself to like twenty kids and parents and those us have just nervous as they were and are waiting to hear whereas the hockey background. Who did he coach before. Because one of the red wings was he part of this huge talk about law school in wall street and this guy another guys were in the nhl players. Even highly college players inducted himself would be anywhere high in coaching world. A reflection of guys play together. I think they'll be the first ones to tell you. None of them really on the track to make the national hockey league but they were such a joy to be around the competed their butts off just line. Who an awkward gesture. The of funny kid and team talked about like there was a hill just a mile from the school that the workouts outside the big hill. The he must've just saw he was driving around and he made us run up this hill with do bear calls and stuff. That is the source. I've ever been my life like. I could not long like off chris. Monrovia now works the red wings. Illitch family talked about how they had this practice where they had no on the ice and they're doing push ups and sit ups and kristin ross. Who served in the military students in afghanistan he goes. I went through the army for seven years. And i went through a lot of work out a lot of hellish days. Afghans dead. That's one of those days that i think back much. It's not as bad as back. And what else did you learn about his coaching philosophy back. Then you know like what were the things that were important to him that he really emphasized to the team. Making guys feel connected or part of it no matter if you were the best player on this team or like the thirteenth forward and i think jeff swan is appropriate examples. Like i wasn't the most natural coordinated like county out now who put me not aligned with the two players. Mike sack out with the most gifted athlete. That are high school in you. The team is better holding. Some of its part. They wanted them to play. Have have meaning and swan. Storing the biggest fools that season the most for player that year. So you know. He's told everyone the most improved player really halls like a special place for him. Something he takes lightly. It was a really really nice compliment. They talked about the hard hat that they gave out. After every win which was an all white instruction half that was something that the player of the game whether at block shot or a big hit or in ceremony the post game. We'll get this production. How they put their name and a sharpie but it was more of a. What did you do to help the team. Really recognizing layers who maybe didn't shop scores sheep but who are just dedicated themselves to helping the team. These success those are moments that came together that they remember forever and become an integral part of their story on a way to winning out like the championship. Well this sort of ragtag bunch of guys did win an unlikely state regional championship in almost mighty ducks kind of way and joe as you talks to all these guys who played for jon. Cooper what connections. Were you able to make between cooper the coach of the lansing catholic cougars and cooper the coach of the stanley. Cup champion tampa bay. Lightning guesswork me. Talking to guys. That new men who've now that he hasn't changed much in terms of his personality he had kind of style which coach's house you through professional level versus coaching. high school. Kids a lot of the same kind of tenants but he had then he still uses today. Kerry that floss with me all the way through the nhl in onto the honestly. It doesn't really change. Human beings are human beings and everybody needs to be motivated. It's just finding the right way to motivate. Rose stood up in my living room and watch the game and cheer tampa. You're welcome. you're welcome for started. His rise

"How can it show up once and then show up again but not be there from the entirety of the Of the tournament. Is it because you are more locked in and you know what's at stake. I mean, I would say that, you know, that's that's definitely part of the case. Ah, and I mean, you know, it's it's When you're playing sports you don't always have you're a game and and Ah, it's tough to say that because it does seem so easy. A lot of times. You know when when things are going right? It just seems like everything's come. You know, everything comes naturally. But but, you know, Ah, Mo mentum shifts and then that could be within a game that could be within a series. That could be over the course of a season and you know the ABS. They had a couple of games there where I don't want to say they took their foot off the gas, but I think the mentality Just wasn't quite Ah, right going into a game. And when you have Nathan MacKinnon playing away that that he's been playing, I think a lot of times it's easy to Ah, no to sit back and watch him kind of go to town and do his thing. Whereas in the playoffs, you have to have everybody firing on all cylinders. Everybody pulling on the ropes together and that No, that's your your goalie or your defenseman. That's that's top to bottom forward. They can't just be your top line. It can't just be about player have to be everybody doing it together. And I think we've seen that the last couple of games from the Avalanche where they know to a man. You have to have everybody pull on the rope in the same direction. John Michael Lau's is our guest here on Big Alan Jo Jo and you played defenseman in the National Hockey League, and so you Ah, lot of time faced some of the best offensive players in the game if you were to compare What Nathan MacKinnon has become as a player for this Avalanche team. What players? Would you compare him to? Know what I got to ask this question. Ah, over the weekend on Ah, show that I was doing and honestly, I would kind of bring him I would put him along the lines of Ah Hybrid Joe Sakic, Peter Forsberg Combo because I think he's got the physicality that Pete used to bring on the ice and not afraid to reverse hit guys and get physical and he gets pissed off when when somebody takes the puck from him, and you know, at the same time you've got Man. He just got a lethal wrist shot He creates like like Joe used to on DH. When you put those two together, I see a lot of Nathan MacKinnon. I see a lot of both of those guys in Nathan MacKinnon and the way that he played the game. Wow, that is That is high phrase right there. Painters. Yeah, without talk to me about Kayama car and the kind of success he's had as a defensive and scoring goals. I mean, this is It's his record setting for rookie tohave the kind of success that he's had. He? Ah! Man. He just He continues to impress on a nightly basis. And Andi just when you think he can't make any more plays that that you just sit there and say, Wow, he makes another one. And you look at last night..

"Stand on this? It's It's like it's like it's just business as usual. Yeah, exactly. You want to get your name in that cup? That period end of discussion now? Justin Williams got the wrong guy on that particular incident where he found Ryan Stone. He was hit. By English slave in that hit him and he got up on time was I thought it was thanks 26 men and Ryan 6 16 no, that's wrong. Remember, and he thought he thought it was somebody else and he jumped up and he went after he went after strong. And so Ryan was more than happy to go for it and and thought there was a Minnesota in Vancouver building right off the face off. They're going It's playoff hockey. There's been 7000 testing in any town house yesterday and zero cold cases. Most hockey players think you're invincible, and you do whatever you gotta do to get your name in that cup. It's the one thing that they started back when they started looking at this. How are we going to do this couple of the things that we're throwing out or full face shields and no spitting and help you and not know not working? A We're going to go and that's all there is to know if we're going. We're going And I like I like that. I like the fact that we were going to work. No, that's period end of discussion and the one thing you can always you can always count on when the playoffs start. Is everything amps up and you send messages as much as you can. So It was no surprise, guys. You got shenanigans after every whistle and you watch you watch the Rangers and Carolina play and they're they're pushing, shoving after everything and same thing has happened today with Nashville and seen it or sorry, Arizona. And it's just It's just what hockey players do. I'm going to Amanda breaking down the Stanley Cup run. What do you think? The I wanted to ask you about a couple teams because I watched a Minnesota against Vancouver and that was a team that was impressive in a different way than Colorado. They weren't nearly as skilled And they weren't nearly as fast. Ah, they just they seem like a team. It just kind of grinds like they're not going to beat themselves. Goingto have to. You're gonna have to beat them and they're going to make you earn. Everything. I don't know if they have enough for run. I think you're probably going to need a little more skill a little more dynamic, play up front toe win, but they seem like a team that you wouldn't necessarily want to play because of the way they play. Absolutely, and they play their veteran groups. They got a great on a very good amount of skill. Their defense is one of the best courted her course of defence in the National Hockey League. Great thing about that team. There's the Sharks. There's a shark's tie their first off Alex Taylor. I'll explain for the Starks. Of course in that Alex had to come back from a horrific injury had to learn how to walk again. Back in. When he's playing for the Sharks farm team starts stuck with him and kept him going. Get back in the NHL and just run. It was a wonderful guys you'll ever meet. The other thing. Is Dean. A person behind the bench. Do you never seen his original sandals? A shark? From 1991 you know is I'm glad to say another one of my friends. I love death players level he took over from Bruce Boudreau, who had great regular seasons. I can't seem to get it done The play offs. Being smart guy. He's coaching the miners and the great stuff in Nationals organization guys playing for because Bean was a hard, intense guy, and I thought that in place I think banker was in real tough against the Minnesota wild. I think Minnesota might be one of those teams, you said because of the reasons you said they were a team you're gonna have to watch. Because if you are ready to play it harder they are. You're going to be in trouble. And I love the fact that I seem a little because another guy working drawing well. Are those our equipment manager? He was. He was like a shock to them again when they get sharks connection there, But in in Ricky and Alex are the main reason for that. Drew. We're going to see jumbo sign in Switzerland and then maybe come back for a 23rd season. Do you think that's gonna happen? That's that's been the talk and play association. I guess allowed that to happen. Yeah, that's that's been the talk temple wants to play forever. They're gonna have to literally rip the jersey off his back. And the guy could be on my team. Any tiu. We've just for the personality. He breaks. He'll go over there, you know, play and I think you don't have somebody will end up looking at. I'm saying what you want to bring him back. Because I think in the right situation, the right team. Um He will help him. You know, I always go back when I think about jumble in the way he twice I think about economy. Gregor knocking out Josiah will go in the 13 seconds. Timing beat speed. Inaccuracy Beats power Timing Beat Speed Is Joe Thornton to me? Joe is able to have that timing in his game. He still wants to play. He's still a guy leaves. He's still a guy that you love being around. You know, he told me. He told me that when he finishes and he retires, he wants to be the traveling secretary for foreign team. You want to get on the plane? What hotel? Is he serious? Because he just loves to be around. The guy just loves to be around the guy. You know, That would be incredible. That'll be the first player in the history of sports to become From the Hall of Fame player to travelling Secretary not not to tell any tales out of school. But more than once more than once restated some unique hotels with Jose Sharks back in the day, and we'd be driving by Let me just say this issue will be driving by certain hotels in certain cities or certain airports in certain cities that are closer to the marina. And he say things like, Hey, did you guys take a hotel, right? But I direct Craig allowed in that already coming back or coming back from back home. Trip and we land in Oakland bus back to town today because of the curfew, refrigerant driving by on the bus on the way in Macon, Georgia, go. Hey, It's like three in the morning. Did you think nobody airport right here? That's awesome. Needs no authority. No kind of partner. That position just how our guys didn't like much craft. You give everybody else in the Hall of Famer and traveling secretary. Great first they drew. We get Iran. We certainly appreciate you. Ah. You're doing in the show and sharing your thoughts and hopefully build a hitch up down the road As we closer to Ah Riel playoffs in the Stanley Cup. It's always fun talking to my friend. I love you, buddy. And I promise. Next time I'll study before I come on. No, no, no, no, no, no, Don't do that. Don't you think you make it with love? Thank you very much. Ticketmaster Promises Billions in Refunds for Cancelled Concerts

"From wondering. I'm David Brown. And this is business words daily on this. Wednesday April twenty. Second you know that Katy Perry concert. You're looking forward to okay. I was looking forward to it. Back in the pre pandemic era well Yeah that that's not gonNA happen at least not until twenty twenty one. She said recently. She's not alone either. Thirty thousand shows were cancelled OR POSTPONED DUE TO COVA. Nineteen so far. According to Jared Smith President of ticketmaster. That's the gigantic ticket agency. Owned by the world's largest concert promoter live nation. And it's not like those concerts and ball games are coming back anytime soon. The mayors of New York and Los Angeles don't anticipate allowing any large scale gatherings until there's a cure or vaccine for the corona virus according to variety at the earliest. That'll be late this year but it could take much longer and that uncertainty is causing a big problem for ticketmaster. The company had fantastic year delivering one hundred fifteen million tickets in thirty one countries in two thousand nineteen ticketmaster sells more than thirty billion dollars worth of tickets annually in twenty twenty was predicted to be a banner year that is until Corona virus now ticketmaster. Meinie refund billions of dollars in ticket sales late last week. The company announced that it will refund some ticket. Purchasers starting on May first customers who shows have been cancelled or who don't want to attend them on rescheduled. Dates can apply for refunds. They'll have thirty days to do so customers who shows reschedule later. We'll have a rolling thirty DAYS TO APPLY FOR REFUNDS TICKET. Masters new policy is almost exactly that of rival. Ag which announced it's refund program a few days earlier but ticketmaster is also using a big incentive to persuade customers not to ask for refunds so it can hang onto some of that cash according to variety if a show is cancelled altogether customers can take credit worth one hundred fifty percent of the ticket cost in the plan called Rock. When you're ready customers can apply that credit to an event to be held when the world opens up once again ticket masters. New Refund policy follows significant complaints from critics who claim the company's been holding onto customers money unfairly in response. Ticketmaster explained that it doesn't keep all those billions of dollars in ticket sales rather every week pays concert and festival promoters out of those proceeds so far this year that amounts to more than two billion dollars. The company said at a tweet normally ticketmaster has little trouble refunding tickets for cancelled events but when the entire concert industry shuts down overnight the company needs to recoup those funds before it can issue refunds from a corporate perspective. It's one mammoth cashflow nightmare. But it's also a nightmare for people who are suddenly unemployed and who need those refunds to pay the rent or buy groceries people spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on concert tickets and now in the face of indefinite postponements. They need those funds back. But lack of clarity in delays around refunds is made some customers so angry that they're turning to the courts. Matthew Mcmillan a national hockey league fan in Wisconsin was aggravated that ticket. Resellers STUB HUB hadn't refunded the price of tickets to a suspended hockey game so earlier. This month filed a five million dollar class action lawsuit against the company according to Billboard magazine. Stop Hub resells about five billion dollars worth of tickets. Every year like ticketmaster in order to issue thousands of refunds. It says it first needs to recoup the cash paid to the original ticket holders in some ways stubs. Problem is even more tangled than ticket masters since its tickets come from thousands of individual sellers and think about that for a second if your brain let you the original ticket holders purchase tickets to live events that are now cancelled or iffy. Where'd they buy them? Probably ticketmaster or A. E. G. Stop up now. Says IF AN EVENT IS CANCELLED IT WON'T ISSUE REFUNDS. Instead it'll give ticket holders a coupon worth one hundred twenty percent of the original ticket price that credit will be good for a year stubhub said in a statement late in. March. By month's end the company said almost three quarters of ticket holders had accepted the credit but that class action lawsuit filed by the Wisconsin Hockey Fan. He says he bought the tickets on. The basis of stub hubs longstanding. Money-back guarantee. Now he's asking the courts to forbid stubhub from issuing those credits and force it to refund the cash according to billboard the customers lawyer accused stub hub of quote putting its hands in the customer's pockets at a time of the greatest. Financial suffering in recent history stub declined to comment on the lawsuit. According to The New York Times. The refund mess is just one of the problems hitting the entire music

He'll tell them Wilson out in front, and watching seven ten let them second to, to one. Now back to forts overnight America with Jeff rich pizzas. Pizzas. We are back just a couple of finals to get in the National Hockey League from Monday night was Toronto. Three Boston, one up in Toronto. So that one's going to go back to Boston for game seven no game. Seven necessary in the other Eastern Conference game that we saw on Monday night in Columbus, and was the hometown blue jackets once again, failing to advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs something that they have done every time they've made the playoffs, they have been one and done. And this is Washington's opportunity. There eleventh shot at the Pittsburgh Penguins in the playoffs and would you believe that just one of the first ten occasions, the Washington Capitals managed to get past the Pittsburgh Penguins in hockey and we're going to get another chance to see it? We'll see who ends up who has. A plant for the Eastern Conference in the NHL on up CNN who plays for the Western Conference in the NHL, but seven of the final eight spots are spoken for you'll have the predators and the jets in one of your Western Conference semifinals on the other side, you'll get Vegas in San Jose very regional matchup or regional that you're going to get with Winnipeg and Nashville. However, we got rid of Colorado, we got rid of the Minnesota while we got rid of the Los Angeles Kings. And we got rid of the other teams or of the Anaheim ducks so sharks night's second round. Everybody's gonna be the nights series. Everybody likes a good story. I'm told that I'm supposed to bring this to air to see that the historical cop Vegas does not existence for you. Have to go. Almost political war with this whole thing, and I would look at the Las Vegas gold nights as the United States of America. That was late to the game one last to arrive at the table, but just showed up it started dating at that is exactly how I would describe the Las Vegas Golden Knights. And there are Naga real season in the National Hockey League. They might just be the best. We might have gone from thirty to thirty one and added one that was better than the existing thirty. About that. Everything about how long it's take it the Thrashers slash jets franchise to grow into it. Competitive. Sign dusted offline right after he won the Stanley Cup of Chicago to twenty. And this is probably one of their better themes, national not to be forgotten about. Advanced to the finals, a year ago, I gave Pittsburgh better shot that we saw from San Jose, the year before a team that we saw because we, we've been seeing Pittsburgh, not getting into the Stanley Cup final and a team that is every bit as good as their record every bit as good as their number one seating. They took down the New Jersey Devils in the opening round. They wait for the litter of game seven between Boston and Toronto and. Toronto replay house money. If the that point Boston, it will be written up as a huge disappointment, Columbus the way that they started yields going to be looked at as disappointing but not, not quite a level that we would say goodbye to the Boston Bruins, if they do not advanced, the can't obey lady in the next round catch pads van Pence, be favored. I don't have. I don't have anything scientific other that I just think that it's time for Washington to go. Get off the puck quite frankly. You're do anything Alexandra can you gotta do it now, should do it soon. Then Nashville Vegas. That would be my preferred matchup. "You've been Rosberg you could show up at these guys. How are you going to talk to me? We're going to sit down, and they would have listened if he would have came out and said, hey, I just being matured. I need to be a better leader. That whole thing with the best squad. I got it up because you told me a brownies you already know they're immature. Here's the thing when you're maturity is through the normal natural evolution what you're saying is correct. That process move when this abrupt when Tiger Woods abrupt being a brook things change. Everything your world flips upside down, and you make changes like that. It takes time for things to crystallize. And I think that's where Ben Rothlisberger is now before we go. I'll have to say a word or two about the most improbable and entertaining playoff season we've ever seen, and it's happening in the National Hockey League, you still have time to catch a piece of it as the Saint Louis blues and the Boston Bruins clash in the Stanley Cup final starting Monday night. Let me get you up to speed the to number one seeds calorie, and Tampa Bay both lost in the first round seriously. After winning a record six two games in the regular season and drawing comparisons to some Wayne Gretzky. All time. Great Edmonton teams, the Tampa Bay Lightning exited the postseason in just four games swept by the Columbus blue jackets. That's the equivalent of the seventy three win Golden State Warriors getting swept in the first round of the two thousand sixteen NBA playoffs crazy isn't it but it's Tampa's collapsed. That's even more crazy. That's the store. There's a story even more crazy than that. The Saint Louis blues in the first week of January, the blues were in last place across the NHL..

"And so I had all my hockey notes with me. So I went back to December thirty first on New Year's Eve the Rangers were in St Louis take on the blues and I was doing the pre imposed for that. I look back in my notes, and just seeing where the blues were dead last in the central. Division. Rangers went on to win that game against Saint Louis putting them further back into the division. And by the time we got to the morning of January, third twenty nineteen the Saint Louis blues with the worst team in the National Hockey League. And they had already fired their coach are they call up inning tin. There were desperate. So you've got a rookie goaltender that you're, you're crossing your fingers can get something going here. You've got a coach never been head coach in the NHL before taking over the team, who took over in November, and it really never seemed to gain any traction. So there was really no belief despite the fact that blues it's a pretty good players. Ryan Riley, who was the number one star last night. Three assists was on the team are saying goes a flat out superstar even though he was having an off season. Jaden schwartz. Somebody that's consistently been a twenty goal score in this league you look at their blue line very solid. But the fact is, you record is what it is in your the worst team in the NHL, and you forty five percent into the season. It's hard to believe that you're gonna actually be competing for a Stanley Cup and I thought about this, and I've been I've been talking about this a lot on this podcast. And also on the Michael Cascio tanking become that. Catchphrase in all sports. It's happening in baseball. That's why you have so many lousy teams I'd rather be bad and get good draft picks than try to compete for some fallacy of championships fallacy of a of a run to the playoffs. Dallas of five hundred season, not seeing value in that and rather see what the Philadelphia seventy Sixers of done tank at a bunch of picks build yourself up and then hope with all those players that you can win a championship doesn't really happen in football because flip ball, you lay your your, your body on the line every Sunday. And, and it's just not something that you can convince players to do because there's only a very small window to play in the league. I think the average NFL player place, three and a half years. So none of them are gonna wanna sacrifice a season for the greater good. They're going to go out there and play the best they can, and that give him season. But in baseball, basketball, and hockey, there's been the talk of tanking be bad. Get the pick. And I look at the blues, and I say to myself. You're the worst team in the NHL almost half the season is over. You've got a rookie goaltender that could have been a time where maybe you decide. All right. Well, let's not let's not make every decision to try here. You know, let's dump off some of our players. Let's let's call up some of the minor leaguers and, and see if there's a chance that we can just, you know, tank, be bad, and maybe get Hughes or Kako in the upcoming draft. But the blues played out, they realized they had talent on their team. They're the best team in the National Hockey League from that day on. And here they are on Monday going to be competing for a Stanley Cup. And I think that's cool. I and I think you wanna try to play it out. Another example playing out the New York Rangers. I mean I was I was either calling calling the game or hosting every ranger game this season. And since they sent the letter last February Dave went out to try to win every single game that they played then. They didn't win a lot of them, but they were competitive in most, especially this year under David Quinn and what ends up happening. They end up not having the worst record in the league ended up being very competitive kinda hung as long as they could in in the playoff race which didn't last very long because they weren't very good, but they didn't tank and here they are with the second overall pick..

"I think is the latest I've ever gone to the MAC daddy. I been so wrapped up between the NFL draft any NBA playoffs that I haven't mentioned the fact that you can tweet this show anytime you want tweet me anytime you want at Jodi McMahon J O D YMCA. Have you make good point or? Ask a good question. I'll either hit you up and or re tweets him, but you can hit me up at Cody McMahon J O D Y M A, and you could be the MAC. Daddy tweeted today. We've got a couple of minutes here to talk both pucks in ponies. Would I next guest? He's the lead on NBC's coverage of the National Hockey League. And also track analyst horse racing coverage. Our buddy Eddie Olczyk joins us here on CBS sports radio. First things first how you feel the guy feeling good joining MAC, thanks for having me call. How you doing? You. Look pretty good on TV. How how old are you? Now. Gosh. I was gonna say I numbers now. Five isn't it? Yeah. Exactly. To look good for fifty. That's what a little a little brush. They got good makeup people over there. Then BC. Good these days too. So good for you. I'm glad you're feeling. Well, all right. NBA I seven series in got one more to go tonight a game seven tonight, but the top seeded team has won every single series. Not even close to that over there. In your sport league, all division winners. Lost the top to see each conference most points both went by the board. And this is this happens often not as stark this year. But it happens often NHL has much more capabilities purse round upsets than the NBA Y. Yeah. I mean, I just think it's so close one to sixteen you know, or two to fifteen however, you wanna put Jody MAC, I just think that the league is so close, and you know, if you get a hot goaltender you, can you know, you can live to fight another day. And that's what has happened in somebody series in the first time in history that all up for so we're taking out in the same year. But we all the see number one go down. And look I think now it's getting to the playoffs. And once you get any just never know what the hell can happen. All right out of the group of those teams some upset some figures who was that goaltender that. You said, wow, not only did you get them through the first round. But this guy could ride this way for a couple more rounds on top of this and end up Stanley Cup final. Yeah. I mean, I think when you look at the series that to harass had Stanley Cup winner ready with the Boston Bruins. I thought he had a ski good series against Tronto Maple Leafs in Toronto one of the top scoring teams in the NHL. And I thought he played, you know, you quite really really well Martin Jones. I mean, we can't read San Jose. He had a tough structure and a couple of games against Baksi. Couldn't stop anything in the last couple of games. He was absolutely brilliant. So those are two guys that you know, stand out. I mean you look at Columbus. What they did the Tampa. Really game. One was the best game Brodsky played. And then after that Columbus camper. I mean, they need a good goaltending. They didn't great goal and you have to have had some injuries, and what have you? But as we talk over the years, Gordon, MAC if you don't get it that being goaltending. You have no chance to win the playoffs. Understood. But you're not telling me Boston's gonna win again. They just want a damn World Series in Super Bowl. They're going to win the Stanley Cup. They're three away from from getting to the conference final. That's why not why not. Camping. People in Boston. They're living largest generation's pretty spoiled. They're all have to say dash Boston is living these days. All right. They don't have a horse in the Kentucky Derby. There's no Massachusetts Kentucky Derby can't win that. I'll be honest with you had where week away then I'm less confident in my grasp of the twenty entrance that we're going to have it who's going to end up in front at the wire then have been in years. Is it just that is the way you described the National Hockey League? So close one sixteen because I feel that way about the field this year. Nobody jumping out at me is anybody jumping out at you. There's a lot there Jordi MAC first off when you look at the yield. You could probably make it taste for. I could make a case for eight horses. I've been on the roadster bandwagon. Bob Baffert trainer. I was on poster back in back in December. When he was having some some physical issues he's on his cell for while he came back racing allowance race. And and Bob Baffert extremely happy. Then they went on to win the Santa Anita derby, and I happened to get a futures on twenty four to one nice in February dollar. He'll probably end up being second earth. Third favorite. Composed time from right around this time, east coast time. So, you know, I mean, Mike Smith was the jockey oldster. He also Omaha and he chose the right Omaha beach, which I thought was interesting, but I think Maho beach might be a little bit better on a wet track. Not sure what the track conditions supposed to be on Saturday. Looks like it's going to be fast and firm, but I think you can make a case like I said for for seven or eight horses, and if you like value, I think I think if it goes off at probably five to one you have to third or fourth favorite nine or ten to one for anybody to get their feet wet. You don't have to invest a whole heck of a lot and a lot of money on the for Saturday may so you got horses by like long range Taty you have probable game winner a coma code of honor. I could go on and on to look you get you could bat an eight horse strike back. The box ready to get the order of the topic finishing Jody. Mac, and you might not hit because you never know horse. Don't know their odds in anybody could set up suck up third. And like I said, you don't have invest a whole heck of a lot to make a lot of money come for Saturday. So you're still leaning toward roadster. But the race was tomorrow. I would I would go at roadster. I I know I got him at twenty four to one in February. He's not going to be anywhere near that. So I'll probably use them in some gimmicks, or whatever his last race was super impressive. But I think that there's gonna be lots of value in there for if you're a gimmicks player inexact exact or try sector, if you really wanna get into the super fact that try to get the top four finishes. But I think there's a lot of pace in a race. I think for the first time in a long time the last eighth of a mile. I think you're gonna have.

"So they don't have a castle. I understand from a talent standpoint. But a lot of that is on the offensive side of the puck the Allders played defensive structure which wins in the National Hockey League. They don't have a lot of experience in goal matter of fact, the guy they're going to go with Leonard has less experience than Greis in the playoffs. But there's not going to be a lot of shots. I think the islanders problem has been there penalty power play which has struggled all year. But it's not like that penguins. Kill is anything. Great. So I do love the islanders in this. But, you know, getting here's the thing. I would say about tonight's game. You work so hard to get home ice advantage. The islanders have home ice for the first time since nineteen eighty eight. You don't wanna squander it in the very first game of the playoffs. You don't wanna squander? So let's get to work here. And see if they can get it done blues and the jets from Winnipeg this is going to be a classic series. It really is going to be. The blues have been the best team in the National Hockey League outside of Tampa since January second Winnipeg is kind of stumbled along. But Dave Maloney made a great point our broadcast over the weekend. I forget whether is in Pittsburgh the home game against Columbus about Nashville and Winnipeg sometimes wing, you don't have the season you had the year before sometimes it's just you know, you're gonna make the playoffs, and maybe the mentality wasn't there down the stretch that it should have been was it was it important for Winnipeg or Nashville to win their divisions as much as it was just make sure you got into the playoffs it meant so much the Saint Louis that really drove down the stretch. But if you look at Nashville and Winnipeg they look like a shell of what they were last year is that a psychological ploy that you just couldn't get themselves fired up because of while they were last year or is there something seriously wrong? I don't think Hulo buck has been as good as he was last year. But in my pick of the jets, I think that he will find himself in the postseason Bennington has never played in the playoffs before. For. So maybe that's an advantage that the blues that the jets will have line. I think will wake up shy fli Wheeler. They got buffalo and back and healthy their hope hopefully gonna get more see back before the series is over. So that begins tonight at eight o'clock eastern time at nine thirty. It's the stars in the predator. So that's we had eight thirty start in Nashville because they wanna try to space out all the time. I think the stars much like the Allender built for the postseason. Now. The question is just like the islanders who is gonna step up is going to be Sagan. Is it going to be Ben is going to be Klingberg is going to be zuccarello? Is it going to be any number of the guys they've had that have really maybe underachieved for the most part in the regular season for Dallas. Those are the guys that I think that our wanna step up. But but to me a guy that I look at that. I think can really carry the day for the Dallas Stars is Raja Lafayette. He's got twenty nine goals during the course of the year spin to the playoffs. Distantly in his National Hockey League career that is a guy that may be can pick up the slack offensively. For Dallas Nashville, basically about Rena they're basically about their defense. But you do have some offense of weapons there. Johannesen Forsberg Arvidsson. They do seem a little top heavy to me. But I do think Dallas can steal the series Golden Knights and sharks. The battle of the underachievers. The battle of the guys that just didn't seem to play well March into April flurry is back, but his EJ Radic pointed out earlier in the week. He came back the final two games of GIS still ended up losing those games of the sharks..

"I don't know people could what they they like they don't like the bottom line is when you write the history of the National Hockey League up through two thousand nineteen Sidney Crosby on the shortlist of the greatest players ever played this game. So those kind of guys are are they're gonna compete right to the end, they know whether it's about these one at every level. So I mean, you know, you're gonna have their hands full. Now, they are they certainly are. And we'll see it is kind of odd. Right. They've got the home ice advantage there a higher seed yet they go into this as an underdog. So maybe they got a bit of a chip on their shoulder. So I'm really looking forward to this series should be fun series. The can get off to a good start at the Coliseum that creates the you know that creates you know, opportunity again, the penguins probably themselves. That rule as a favorite, and that's and if the others can bus them early and get a couple of wins at home and put the pressure on them. They just change the dynamic and the mentality of the group in that room. So you know with the honors can do stories this week. Well, I've been talking about it as we convert over to the west I've loved Dallas for a while. Now, I think they play with a great structure they've got guys that can get hot. They've got a goal tender. That's been there before and you brought it up a couple of times talking about the east steal one on the road. Nashville has not been great at home this year. They've been very beatable at home. So Dallas can go in there and take home ice advantage immediately. So I I love Dallas in this matchup with Nashville, I do too. I like the way they've been playing over the last half of the season. I mean, my only question for the Dallas Stars that Bishop has in and out kind of health issue with his with looks like seems like groin or core problem. He should be ready to go for the start of the of the series. But you. No, he's one tweak away from the bench again and era. I love Anton khudobin, and he's been really good coming off the bench to help this team. But you know, if Ben Bishop is gonna mention week or ten days that changes things for me. So it should be a whole series. It's twenty.

"Game in Berlin a couple of days before they do the game and Brian. Exciting. It's cool to see the NHL starting to branch out. And I think that you know, we go to Cuban here for a second. You know, we are more we have to now we really don't want to make this one point. You know, we're more internationally known. Okay. Maybe and know, your bigger, China, and whatever however outside of that you look at the eastern European countries. The NHL is huge it soccer. And it's hockey in these countries and even the finish Finland Sweden all the Scandinavian countries. It's huge out there. Okay. All right. All right. So hold on a second. No, the NBA has a reach in professional basketball has a reach unfortunately throughout AustralAsia. That's a big word for all your raider fans out there. And also as a big reach in South America as well. Right. And I'm not saying that it doesn't have a big reach. I what I'm saying is the NHL has an equally big reach in those countries. How about seeing a whole NHL league over in Africa because they're going to do that with basketball what professional basketball, you're gonna see teams in Nigeria and South Africa in all kinds of other places down there. They're going to have a separate leaked down. Or did you hear about that? But if they want to do that also. In the National Hockey League down there. I got to be really hard for the ice freeze down there. But they've got air conditioning. I know that was a horrible joke. But yeah, I think that it would love to see the NHL expanded different countries. I would love to see the K H L become kind of merging with the NHL a little closer. No, they're already a minor league team for our minor league system for the NHL to see if bought up a little closer, basically triple A for the National Hockey League. What you agree. No. I think that triple eight for the National Hockey League. Joe, I think the K H L is a great place for European players to be noticed any known. I know, but I think really that level of play the overall level of player is just slightly under the product of the National Hockey League. So I really believe the cage L is kind of like the triple A league for the NHL. I would say that if we're going to make this comparison of the of the NC double A being the triple A of the NBA than the would be the NBA DL Japanese baseball league is the triple A league really major league baseball, and you can find so many great talents that there. I'm just saying that. From the NHL. I'm not deluding my pool. I'm not saying, okay. We're only popular in the United States and Canada. And that's it. And that's all know expand out. It goes far as you want to go try going to China. You know during the during the Winter Olympics hockey, they loved themselves, some hockey and you look at Russia. Russia, obviously, you have a lot of great hockey players that come out of back country. So expand outs more try to get some NHL games in Moscow. Try to get them in Saint Peter's by the NHL needs to reach further east instead of staying in western Europe. I absolutely agree. And you know, it's kind of funny I talked to a couple of people that I know that our English, and they said before we got to America before we got to the United States and saw it. We never knew what hockey was maybe start putting some stuff in England start putting some in France. I get rid of that Premier League. Nobody watches that here in this country for the most part. I don't know why NBC pushes that. It's ridiculous. But I'll tell you what else I'm gonna tip my hat. Give a big round of applause for each Zouqi walks.

"In the second year in the National Hockey League. It has got a twenty four and five record. I mean, that's incredible. That's I mean, he's in top five right now in pretty much all the major categories and goaltenders the NHL. No one's talking about him for a visa. Got a pretty good goal here. Who's in the conversation? But, but you know, I I if he keeps us up and wins at a clip like that, I think you should be at least their conversation not to win it. But he's he's he is the reason why they're here this year, a bigger as big a surprise is allies Lindell the Calgary. Flames would look for several years for someone to play on that right side next to Johnny Guiraud, and Sean Monahan tried unsuccessfully for several years finally got this guy, and they also signed James Neal hoping that maybe he'd be that guy. Well, allies loom got the day one job and has not like all of it putting up career numbers, but forty game archaeology had career numbers in goals, assists, and all that stuff. So it's just been an incredible season. So yeah, lots of guys having careers encounter for sure. But those two are the ones that are spearheading the chart went home. You think putting up the numbers because he's playing with great players. What do you do you feel like he's blossoming into a legit tops? Explore. I think he's a top six forward. I don't think there's any question about that. But it's a chicken and egg thing. Because, you know, busy capable of putting up a point a game without Johnny John Monaghan by I don't think anyone thinks that. But I think people think he'd be a sixty seventy point guy on a second line rule. We think he's that talented. I mean, that's what we've seen from the thing. I'm impressed about the most with Lindholm is defensive game. This is a guy who I think should be in the conversation for the Selke trophy for best defensive forward because he's so good news own zone. And that also helps role in Monaghan offensively. Because if he's minding the store those guys can get a jump out of the zone.

"And I think that the right thing by apologizing or or explaining himself the next day. But it wasn't a good look sometimes, you know, I don't think it was necessarily intentional. But I think that, you know, listen, you're on national television. You gotta know better than that. I mean, this this is the woman that is played a lot of hockey her life. She's not obviously, she's not a man playing in the National Hockey League. But she's played a lot of hockey. And she just went through a terrific experience gold medal winner. And you know, what she's watching and she's paid attention. She knows who's playing and she knows what's going on out there. So that's just one. No. So I think it was handled. Well, I yeah. I think on the on the back end, it was, you know, in the world, we live in everybody goes crazy, right because Twitter goes wild. And you know, peer doesn't have the biggest fan club. Although I think, you know, at the end of the day, we can always we always talk about people on the air. People talk about you talk about me that you know, I liked this guy. I don't like that guy. That's the way it is. Right. We know this much about here. He does the work on a question. I'm wearing he's not. They're going like, you know, who's playing you know, what's going on. But I think that was one that you probably if he could take it back. I'm sure would. And you know, you get on with life after that wasn't a good. It wasn't a good look for sure. And I thought she hamlet. Well, and I thought everybody did the right thing there. So sometimes the right thing could be done after the wrong thing was done. We all make mistakes. That's yes. We do. Every day between four. Oh, and I'll make more on the case show and in buffalo on Friday when I'm there. So I'll talk to you next Monday, buddy. All right. That's the great.

"The. Is that game misconduct podcast with Don. League-record? Welcome to the Tuesday of games conduct. I am down like regular jump right into it. Austin Matthews signs of five year, fifty eight point seventeen million dollar contract with the Toronto Maple leaf today. The twenty one year old gets eleven point six three four million dollars annually. He was going to be restricted free agent on July first with the they believed to take care of that. They've taken care of Neil Lander. They've already obviously taken care of Taveras with the contract that they gave him stealing him away from the islanders. They're still the players. They've got to worry about restricted free agency for captain and Moner's. Well, this is what happens when you got a lot of young players on team. And you gotta try to take care of everybody. But certainly first and foremost added to take care of Austin Matthews one of the best players in the National Hockey League. So he is locked up. So that's one less concern for Toronto. Now, they can kind of focus on the other restricted free agents. And they either deal with them now or they deal with them when they become restrictive reagents. So. Compensation there. So there's no hurry. But Matthews though is an important piece to the puzzles another focus consp- be maintaining that number two spot in the division getting home ice in the first round of the playoffs. And eventually getting out of the first round of the plows, which is certainly something this Toronto police team has to be focused on. And I think if they get the goaltending and the blue line and make a couple of deals they can get something done. Speaking of deals Muhsin was the first real chip that was dealt before the deadline and he scored his first goal as a leaf in the Toronto Maple leaves six two one victory over the ducks last night. The ducks are in free. They've allowed fifteen goals in the last two games member on Saturday. They lost to Winnipeg nine three where the jets scored six goals in the first period. So things a mess for Toronto scores again as things or mess for the ducks excuse me to VERA scores again kings beat the Rangers four to three and in this rebuild in this reimagining of the Rangers. The idea here is that they have to learn how to win and that is not really been the case. Here down the stretch. A lot of these close games they've fallen overtime shootouts they've lost. And Marc Staal. Kind of had a comment out of Assad is mouth in the post game about overtime, not being real hockey. And there's certainly a lot of frustration for the Rangers, savannah Jetta just but unconscious actually broke a franchise record as he was involved in ten consecutive goals to the Rangers to better than Raj. You'll bears record of eight savannah jet hits the post, and then what ends up happening when a missed opportunity on three on three happens usually creates an opportunity for the other team. To Foley comes down with a two on one with campy holds onto the puck beats long Quist and the kings. The worst team the Western Conference and beating the Rangers sweeping the season series heartbreaking loss for the Rangers. They gave a goal the minute to go on a campy tally is second of the game. So ranger squander an opportunity to get two points that you'd said get one but coach wants to see this team. Learn how to win and so far. Through the first fifty two games in these situations. They haven't fared, particularly. Well, they've got thirty games to change it. Obviously the playoffs are not going to happen here. The problem is is as we get closer and closer to the deadline. Kevin Hayes is likely gone Mazzarella was likely gone. Adam acquainting, scored his first goals arranger likely gone. So this is gonna probably be in the final couple of months of the season kids playing in what might not be that competitive hockey considering who they keep now. Those two love Kreider, those loves Abana Jad, they'll still have some quality players not saying that the rest of the season's going to be a complete mail in. But even with their roster pretty much intact from what they thought they were going to have the beginning of the season. They're losing these close games with thirty games left. And only a matter of time before some of these significant players are still on their roster. It'll be interesting to see how things go the rest of the way..

"The trauma of leaves have acquired defenseman Jake Muhsin from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for forward, Carl French drum the rights to Sean dursey who is a recent traffic answering us first round pick in the twenty nineteen NHL draft Faysal Kameda taken away six months. I'm sorry. This is really the key is ability to play the pop end of our defense that plane all obviously growing up, you know, everyone is released fan and those included who know kind of funny how life works and here we are coming back home to play for the team going up kind of. Probably that, you know, as well Ricard Grahn bring this week national coach will be aboard here in a couple of moments looking forward to talking to him about a number of things the differences between key players in North America and Sweden and the chances of him showing up behind the bench in the National Hockey League and other issues that revolve around but are not exclusive to Swedish hockey players. So stay tuned for Ricard Grundberg here on the podcast and a couple of moments. Meantime, Jake Muhsin is now ex of the Los Angeles Kings. He's now a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs on that blue line with one more year on his ticket at four million dollars a copy to which Elliott Friedman says blank, I said, I think it's a good trade for them. I mean, they're in it to win it right now. And they didn't take anything off of their roster. You know, I think one of the reasons that they did not go with some other possibilities including the likes of Brett, patchy and Alex. Her Angelo is that it was going to cost them pieces off their current roster. I don't know what the talks with Carolina turned out to be or not be. But it was going to involve a player either, captain or Yonsin or something like that. I have heard and I do believe that the talks was Saint Louis for Pedder. Angelo involve William knee Lander which Toronto did not want to do. So that was something they were not willing to consider as we saw they could do Muhsin without taking off their current roster. And I think Muslim was a guy that they are interested in even though he's a left hand shot. And what I've heard is. They were Muslin's most diligent and aggressive pursuer. I believe Montreal been there. He was in the patch ready deal. The aboard the L, and I think that's Tampa was there. But when it really mattered who was the team that was aggressive. It was Toronto. And he was the guy they targeted. Let's say there must have been other teams. You mentioned Montreal you mentioned Tampa's while you do wonder about a team like the boss. Bruins. How much of this is the maple leaves got Muhsin and someone else that may police may face in the playoffs. Didn't I think there's something to that? But again, the only other teams I really heard were Tampa Montreal. I'm sure there were others. I can't say for sure that they were there may believes done. I think they'll look for a right hand D. But now it's dollar in dollar out. Now, you can look at sites like cap friendlier puck pedia, and you can say, okay, they've still got a boat, you know, some cap room about four million cap room. But what you don't want is Mitch modern Austin Matthews bonuses to go into next year. You know, the fact that monitored and go to the all star game eliminated one of those bonuses. But I think your budgeting I was told for about three point seven five million. So you've got to keep that doesn't happen. So it's dollar in dollar out for the Maple Leafs. Now who does this help the most on that blue line? Some would make the point that this helps Riley Frederik Anderson someone made the point that it helps Travis Thurman. Because it moves Ron Haines you down to a lesser role probably paired with him. Yeah. Probably I think that's all true..

"From the vantage point of the goalie, the National Hockey League has been testing chips in players clothing end in pucks, and it asked six tech companies spanning virtual reality and sports gambling to develop possible uses for the information. So the results include enhanced ways to experience a game. But the biggest commercial opportunity maybe in sports gambling and in game betting. So what you get for me. I've got a few things you follow the Consumer Electronics Show kind of you. So this year, apparently, there's a lot of emphasis on products marketed to adults if you catch drift, including Alexa, and Siri enabled devices. Really? Yes. Ooh. Yeah. And and passwords well known for use for during use all we'll just leave it at that. Oh, and and you're ready virtual holographic strippers. That's right. This hollow deck is here. He's so excited. You leave the house for your job, and you go back to the house. Yeah. That's it. One hundred percent, boom. So you can afford the, you know, the virtual stuff and in an amazing story. So last year, they actually had their little conference thing here in the in in carried so here in the triangle, they who the flat earth society. Oh, yes. I remember. So guess what? They're planning for the twenty twenty conference. Oh, I can only I don't know the conference will be held on a cruise ship is the cruise for the edge of the mat? What if they don't find it? "It's really been impressive for the whole season has been teams offense up and down the line of Nikita kucherov is leading the league in scoring rate and point leads his team in goals. Steven stamkos is not only scoring but he's become a tremendous playmaker as well. And really the depth scoring has been great. And I asked Dan Rosen from NHL dot com. Would impressed him the most during the late teens sixteen game point streak. Well, you can talk about high end skill. They have it. But they're scoring more than four goals. A game scoring above four goals per game. That that's in the National Hockey League today. That's insane. Like, they're scoring a half a goal more per game than any other team. In the league. We hear so much talk about the Toronto Maple Leafs. And all they have the firepower. They have to Calgary Flames and the firepower the sharks the penguins capitals the avalanche with their top line. The jets here about all this firepower and analyzing scoring a half ago game at least on every other team that it's not surprising that they can score. It's surprising. How efficient they are at scoring. I think and the other thing and it has dropped a little bit lately. But the other thing has been there penalty kill which you know, was a big detriment was got off last year has been much better much improved their top ten teams on the PK. So that's a little bit surprising to. But, but I don't think I, you know, I don't think we can ignore the obvious. They're scoring four point one two goals per game. Not. Team. Does that? They don't at least not at this point. Dan Rosen from NHL dot com. Join me earlier on lighting powerplay live tonight's and that high end skill was on play. The last time the lightning blue jackets played each other blaming scored eight goals as you heard me saying the open, you don't expect to see that number tonight. But both teams are capable of filling the net. The blue jackets come into tonight's game playing. Well, there's third in the metro their first line. It's been really good as well. That would be pure loop centering our TIMMY Aaron and Cam Atkinson do blah at sixteen goals. Twenty one assistant thirty seven points in the first half which puts him on pace to blow away his rookie numbers last year. Twenty goals. Twenty eight assists for forty eight points can sin is on pace for forty nine goals. Which would eclipse the franchise record for forty one set by Rick Nash back in three or four Akerson. I can send Pinera and Dubai have been very dangerous as a line and lining will need to be aware of them at all times tonight. I asked Rosen what he made of the blue jackets so far this season. Columbus has. I've always been a little vulnerable to me. I still think they are even though they're playing well what's going to happen with the blue jackets to Aaron Bob Ross. What's going on with them? That's going to dictate a lot of what happens with Columbus. If your arm. Okay. Carolina and their GM decides, you know, what if we were in a position right now to get rental players. We would be looking at these two guys in particular. We have them. Let's keep them. If they do that the team says we're in its win it let's roll if they trade one of them had other guys react they're in a position right now with where they're situated in the standing that. They would be in the rental market, right? They would be a team that would be going after players who can put them over the hump to get them in the playoffs and help them win at least around because that's what they should be talking about doing. And then you go from there those rental players Pinera. We don't know who they'd having goal in another situation, but it would could be above Brodsky. Well, they have those guys they have mystery going especially with. Their top line with Atkinson Pinera here. Luke, do blah. They know exactly what to expect that they have a goalie who they know can win them a couple of games in a playoff series. He's that good. Even though he struggled in the playoffs. Everybody's gonna have their you know, when you're that good. You're going to have your moment. Eventually, I would stand Pat..
