"So what we're running into is a complication of getting people from A to B. And have you considered entering, introducing a third parent into the equation? Yes. I, I think, um, I think we're looking for, for, for travel escort, um, step in parenting as much as we can here because you're part of the problem and you know, and every, every parent knows you want to watch everybody's games. Of course, I want to watch Reese play, but I want to watch Riley play, but you can't be in both places. Cammie's got, Cammie's going to go, Cammie's making the big swing from Seattle to Dallas, back up to Toronto to, so she's, she's going to get, she's going to touch them all. Then I'm kind of following behind. And I think eventually we'll all end up back in Vancouver. I think, but you know, that's the goal. And there'll be a birthday celebration mixed in there somehow, I should say. Or is that pre -weekend? That's pre because Enzo's turning seven, our, our grandson, and he's rewind it, he's reminded us about a half a dozen times, um, have you guys caught me a present yet? He, he's on it. He's looking for it. So that's outstanding. All right. Well, that is, that's, that's a busy strategy. Playing a little golf. Oh yeah. I'm actually, uh, dropping one guy off at school and headed right to the course today again, I've been on a great run. Lots of mid eighties terrible. What is it? Short game or just a little bit of everything. No, I, I cannot any of my long clubs. I can't keep an affair away right now. So this has been a real, I've, I've spent a lot of time kicking rocks, looking for balls. So I'm, I'm not that happy. I, I'll get it straight. No. Well, you know what? Just, just reach out to James Dothi and he'll quickly, uh, curry. Are you one of his swing aids? Oh, if I have to watch, if he sends me one of those things with a ball off the top of my hat, I'm like, I don't know whatever he does. What do you got going? Uh, well, you know, we've got paneling to do with, uh, the Stanley cup final as it continues. And I got, I'm telling you, we touched on it in headlines. There's a different feel in the air around the national hockey league and kudos to the Columbus blue jackets being a big part of that, right? With all the trade activity managers telling me that it, it's, it's legit. There, there's, there's a buzz around the game. So that's probably going to, that's good news. That's good news. Of course, kills the next three weeks for you, but it's good news for all of us that are watching. Yeah. All right, man. Thanks as always. And we'll check in and episode 72 early. NHL team won't wear Pride jerseys, citing new Russian law

"A National Hockey League team with a Russian player has decided against wearing special warmup jerseys to commemorate pride night, citing an anti gay Kremlin law that could imperil Russian athletes when they return home. The Chicago Blackhawks will not wear pride themed warm up jerseys before Sunday's game against Vancouver. Chicago Blackhawks coach, Luke Richardson, says he hopes the decision does not take away from what the team is doing. The one issue doesn't cloud over all the good things and that the organizations supporting and continue to support. I'm Lisa dwyer

Fresh update on "national hockey league" discussed on The Ray & Dregs Hockey Podcast

"Powered by Go Goat Sports in partnership with TSN, it is episode 71, season 4 of the Rained Rigs podcast, and it is presented by our title sponsor, Canadian Club Whiskey. Ray, we always have fun on the podcast, but we're going to have a bit more fun than usual with today's special guest, and that is Martin Biron, former star goaltender in the national hockey league. He'd roll his beautiful blue eyes at that when he hears me talk, but such a fun guy to be around, right? And a wealth of knowledge and information, given his history, of course, has a long time backup to Henrik Lundqvist and some great goalies, and you know, Marty was a starter in his own right as well, but now he's an analyst with TSN and MSG for the Buffalo Sabres and all of that. But there's no such thing as a less than entertaining conversation when Marty Biron is involved. He's so animated in everything that he says. So it could even be like, you know, when we were at TSN at the free agent frenzy and the food tables out there, and Marty would come to get a snack, like that is entertaining. He's just getting a snack, but he comes out with this energy and the way he speaks a little English together. It's just he's a terrific guy. I got to say, you said something and it made me kind of go, oh, you said, you know, a terrific backup goalie, and these guys, that was their career. They always make fun of themselves because they were a backup goalie. Jamie McLennan does it all the time. Marty does it all the time. I don't think people realize how hard it was to be in that position and do it as well as they did for as long as they did. Their job was in jeopardy all the time, and they both stayed in the league for 15 years. It's a hard gig. It's a way harder gig, I think, than we might think. You know, again, as soon as Marty starts talking, and this isn't a criticism, this isn't a mock, it's reality.

The San Jose Sharks Go Woke

"Want to thank the hockey team, the Sam Jose sharks. For proving that my belief that the left is trying to decimate western civilization is accurate. I mean, literally accurate. They don't even know it. Because they are so far gone, the crappy education that they got at whatever college they went to at the San Jose sharks. Reinforced the idiotic and evil belief that western civilization is no better than any other. So I have proof for you, it's again a National Hockey League team, I love hockey. I will admit that if I lived in San Jose, it would become difficult for me to go to a shark game and support people who are actively undoing western civilization. So here is the story. It's from Fox News, but not but the butt was only that you can get it from any number of places. The San Jose sharks touted the existence of a third, this is a direct quote. A third or even fourth and 5th gender. In non western cultures on Twitter, sparking questions after critics pointed out one ancient culture the hockey team was referencing participated in human sacrifice.

NHL Player Under Attack for Refusing to Wear Pride Jersey

"If you're not following the story in hockey, there is a hockey player again. I don't watch hockey at all. It's become a completely irrelevant sport. I don't wish them well. I think some of the athletes are really great people, but they've been captured by the very same woke virus. I hope the NHL goes through some restructuring and I think that's going to require some misery and pain. If any of you are avid hockey fans, you're going to have to explain to me exactly what about hockey and the values or the lack thereof of the National Hockey League that speaks to you. I hope their stadiums remain empty and I hope they go bankrupt because what they are doing is so aggressive. It is so hostile. It is so insistent that if you do not subscribe to the chemical castration of children to the trans agenda, we are going to isolate you, we're going to punish you, again, these are the people that the best way to explain the kind of new alphabet mafia is the people that came out of the closet now want you to live in the closet. It's not about inclusivity. It's about revenge. Okay, so you have Ivan provorov. Okay, he refused in the warm ups to wear a rainbow flag Jersey because he said it goes up against his Russian Orthodox religion, which is exactly right. And he also refused to use their hockey stick, and immediately it's exactly like that Seinfeld episode. What do you mean you don't want to wear the ribbon? Do you not support gay people? And the pressure of the entire national news media found another person to hate. Oh wow, he's Russian too. I bet he's Friends with Putin. And immediately, all of the otherwise miserable. Actually, they're still miserable. Chattering class of the twitterati and the mainstream press goes and attacks Ivan provorov. Let's play cut 60 NHL flyers defenseman. On refusing to wear the rainbow Jersey for warm ups, God bless him. Seriously. Play cut 60. Everybody, I respect everybody's choices. My choice is to stay true to myself and my religion. That's all I'm going to say.

"Washington, capitals fans will be talking about where they were last night when they watched their captain achieve another remarkable milestone. Alex Ovechkin notched his 800th goal against the Chicago Blackhawks, and he did it in a stunning fashion by scoring a hat trick. Now the turnover in front and mantha feeding it to kuznetsov and shot the score. And it's Alex Ovechkin and it's a hundred goals in the National Hockey League. John Walton with a great call on the capitol's radio network. Now that puts ovi, one goal behind Gordie Howe for the number two spot in all time goal scoring in the NHL, WTO has been rabies also the cap's pre game and postgame host joined us a little earlier to talk about this night that Washington hockey fans won't forget. It's really impressive. I think part of Alex Ovechkin's legacy when all is said and done is the fact that he continues to produce as he does now in his 18th NHL season. He's 37 years old. Guys on the back 9 of their career with all the miles in the hockey odometer like he has aren't supposed to be doing the things that he still capable of doing. He still produces at the rate that he did when he was in his early 30s or late 20s, for example. And this season last night was just another example where he has a carrot in front of him, the milestone watch was on, 800 career goals was in reach. And he almost got the sense. He put it even into another gear last night, but the fact that he still does it. At this rate, at this age, with all the hockey experience, it's very, very impressive. So now he's one goal away from tying Gordie Howe and two away from passing him as the number two score of all time. And then there is the chase on for Wayne Gretzky. I think he's at 8 94. Kenobi get there? Yeah, Sean, it's very realistic. I think a few years ago, you would have looked, you would have thought point. That's a big number 8, 94. And you would expect inevitably father time would catch up to him, but as noted that hasn't been the case. And this is now very realistic shock given how many years he still has remaining on his contract three seasons beyond this one. When he signed a 5 year deal going back a couple of summers ago, Sean. I think everyone's intense sort of was raised at that point suggesting, oh boy, if you do the math here, if he continues to average the amount of goals that he tends to score and you spread them out over 5 years, yeah, this is very possible. And so far, two plus years into that contract, he continues to produce. So given how much length is still remaining ahead of him and given the rate at which he produces. Yeah, I wouldn't put it past him to get the remaining goals and to catch Gretzky. Ben, our time is up. So this has to be fast. A lot of people will have their own opinions, but do you think obie's the greatest athlete D.C. has ever seen? Yeah, I think for many reasons, including the longevity, just what he means to this market and what he's been able to do, making D.C. is home very much. He's been raby also with the capital's radio network. And we've got two kinds of football for you to enjoy Sunday. The NFL and the World Cup final

"Is the third player in National Hockey League history to score 8 hundred golds. He does it here in Chicago, Illinois. Caps played by play announcer John Walden sounds excited. In fact, he did it last night as he completed his 29th career hat trick. Alex Ovechkin is truly a generational player and I hope we appreciate it enough. Think about it. Gordie Howe, mister hockey. 801 goals. He skated from 1946 to 1980. They gave wade Gretzky on the ice of 1979 to 1999, 894 goals, and we dubbed him the great one. And now Alex Ovechkin determined to break Gretzky's record. Yes, what I believe more determined to win another Stanley Cup. Dave Johnson, W TLB news. Today's innovation in government report highlights the government's IT modernization opportunities. Bill Rowan, the vice president of public sector at Splunk, says even with all the progress over the last few years, agencies have a unique opportunity to change their approaches to security and services even more. As we start to see modern applications now come up online, where we can start to put some of these security parameters in the applications as microservices as they're built. How does that redefine the way we actually manage some of these environments? Can we build some of the automation? Some of the observability of what's going on in the environment, can we actually build those into services that are part of modern applications? That has the ability to help redefine the way we actually operationalize security across the board. Let's plunk Kara soft and their reseller partners help you imagine what your agency is capable of. All right, well, we heard in Montgomery county from collars on the beltway outer loop as you head down toward river road right there at the exit ramp for extra to 39. There's a crash, but it's in the gore area between the main lanes and the ramp. So no lanes are closed, just a little bit to look at. So there's your delay coming off the southbound spur and on the beltway outer loop after old Georgetown road riding down toward river road. Behind you, you're slowing topside out of loop from 95 to Georgia avenue, but getting a little slower now on the inner loop of the beltway coming up the hill from Connecticut avenue toward Georgia avenue. So far, nothing reported. South of town, the lineup on the end of the saint Barnabas road, headed down toward the Wilson bridge. There was a wreck and elegant city on 100 westbound after exit two from Maryland one O 8 had been reported along the right side of the roadway. You're going to find a delay on the Baltimore Washington Parkway, south at one 75. Again, at one 97, then through the beltway interchange, northbound had been a little bit delayed as you wrote up from NASA Goddard back toward powder mill, riding in the district. We're looking to get on the freeway, some slowing north on I two 95 ox in cove, up toward laboratory road, also slow D.C. two 95 from eastern avenue toward east capital street, troubled in northwest had been Rhode Island avenue, the requisite New Jersey avenue. Still slow in Virginia on the beltway inner loop. We're heavy, Braddock wrote up toward two 36, but a lot of brake lights at 66, you'll ease of the toll road. There was a wreck up near Georgetown pike long since cleared at this point so the delays are beginning to ease back. Also a little better on 95 going northbound, Dale City into and through lorton. We're looking better at the ramp to take you on to route one that oversized vehicle after 95 toward the railroad bridge. That is cleared so the delays are easing back. We'd had big delays in manassas 28 north near brown's laying the broken down vehicle in the left lane, and there was a crash on 7 going eastbound after Berlin turnpike that had blocked the left side of the roadway. "All right, everyone raised. We jump into headlines. Talking about the goal that didn't count. Speaking of mark on referring the Minnesota wild now, it wasn't flurry in that. It was Philip Gustafson and that from the Minnesota wild. But Trevor ziegler scores the lacrosse school. And it's called back on a rightful challenge, right? I mean, dean Evans didn't allow. Their video guy obviously identified that the play was offside. But you and I have talked about this in the past, right? I haven't clocked it. I'm going to get the clocking on it because I'm going to talk about it on TSN. In episode 13 on Tuesday, you know, we talked about how good it is for the National Hockey League to have the celebrity of Ryan Reynolds interested at least in part purchasing the Ottawa senators. If I'm a fringe hockey fan, I'm drawn to what I just saw from Trevor's eagles, right? I mean, this kid is just loaded with personality. He's not afraid to try anything out there. And then if I'm a fringe fan, I'm like, well, it doesn't count. And I get an offside is offside the rule is the rule. But you and I have talked about this before. I need to find out what the time disparity was between the puck entering the zone offside. And then the ziggurat school. It was probably pretty close. But it feels like there's a tweak that needs to happen here. Would you agree? And here's another NHL exec through this and me this morning. And I want your opinion on this. If the defending team concedes the blue line. So the defense are either not there, not challenging, right? And the offensive player is able to the players are able to gain the zone without any sort of pushback. You can see your right to challenge. Hang on, tell your executive. Terrible idea. Terrible idea. Why is that? What? So when you come when you come to your house, okay? Assuming you're not parked in the garage, but you know, you come up to the front door. Do you want 6 laps around the house before you walk in? No, you walk straight in, right? That's easy to tell. Can you imagine in that scenario?

So we've got a lot to talk about with Trevor. So I had a conversation with our colleague Gordon Miller the other day. How long did that take? Well, I did a lot of listening, you know, the conversations with gourd traditionally go, right? So with him, right? Yeah. And so he links Winnipeg in two ways. He tweeted at length about his experience with you and Sidney Crosby, was that a couple of years ago or several years ago? Several years ago. And it was absurd. It was way too bloody cold out there to be a number one. There's some clarification that's required here, or confirmation is a better way to put it. It was you guard and Crosby. Correct? Correct. Okay, good. You know, I mean, sometimes gorgeous. I was thinking maybe it was like I walked down to the I walked down to the lobby and they were standing there and gourd said, yeah, we're going to get Sid wants to walk to the rink. And I'm like, oh, okay. I mean, like, you know, that's not going to go very well. I mean, he's not going to get three feet and he's going to get mocked. And he goes, no he wants to walk outside. Well, for people that haven't been in Winnipeg, they have these headways that are they Drake's 15, 18 feet above the ground, something like that? Yeah, something like that. And so you can walk from the hotel over to the arena. I never go outside. So I didn't have my overcoat. I just had like my suit coat. And no gloves, no tuke. And so I'm like, yeah, we're going to walk inside. We're going to get over there. And he goes, yeah, I said, wants to go outside. Now, if it would have been another player, I would have told him to beat it. But it was so I was like, oh, this will be interesting. Well, I don't know, said that well. And.

"All right, we're now joined on The Rain Drake's hockey podcast by Anthony declare of the Florida path. There's man Anthony. What a story. You and the Florida Panthers are out of the gate, this regular season. So you lead the National Hockey League, is it natural evolution of how this team has been constructed? Everything that's gone on, the work that's been put in or what do you think has contributed or fueled the start for Florida this year? I think it went back to being last year. Last year, a lot of new faces in that locker room came in. They didn't really know what to expect to be honest. As a group, our expectations of whatnot, but we kind of shocked ourselves a little bit, talk the league and kind of roll with it, then we had a great start to the season last year. And we just figured out that we're actually a really good hockey team and we can do special things here. And just we had that confidence throughout the whole year last year. And it kind of moved over all over the off season picking up some some key guys and we're just boosting up our lineup. And obviously with coming to training camp, we had a lot more expectation from our group. And we expect a lot of ourselves as well. So we're really happy with how we started. And, you know, I just think we're just a confident group right now. And also the over the situation with, you know, not being able to go out and stuff like that and just being on the road and understanding what the boys and you know, you just, you know, build some chemistry off the ice and I think that translates on the earth as well. Now for you, you came from Ottawa and it seems like being a perfect fit for you. And so you score 23 goals in Ottawa. You're a free agent and you decide you're going to be your own agent, which I think at the time I'm like, what is he doing? What made you think you could do? I would have never had the courage, Anthony, to do that. Like what I was playing. I would have like, I just, I don't think I could do this. Like, what made you think that was the right play? Because it looks like you landed just where you're supposed to be. Yeah, I honestly it's been run through my mind about being my own jabs for years now. I always wanted to do it. I just felt like last year was the right time with.

"And when you're 19 years old playing in the National Hockey League, things happen fast. Things are buzzing. The plays are happening with lightning speed, and I was really, really, really pleased. With his positioning as a sentiment on the ice. He was always in the right positions. He used always defensively responsible. Now. Is that going to translate to him being an 80 to 90 point player in this league? We don't know. Um, but to me, it looks like he's going to be more of a 60 60 point player, which is there's nothing wrong with that, because doing cousins might be that guy that funnels into a position where he's shutting down the Austin Matthews. He's shutting down the Sidney Crosby's. He's playing against The elite players on the other team, and he can skate. He can shoot. He's big. He's responsible, and he's got skills up front. So where do you see? And I think this is maybe not What fans one here in Buffalo. We talk about With Danny Gear off the air about how the building was buzzing and his is grandson is was watching games when he was a young kid or his nephew, and the last few years you don't see the building buzzing as much. So where do you see this season? Being a successful season? Are you looking at it just individually? Player to player and see what they're doing. Are you still looking at a collective kind of mark or a goal to set for the team to make this a successful season? Because that's not kid anybody or we're not expecting the Sabres to go in and make the playoffs this year. Number one. They're incredibly tough division because they're going back to the Atlantic Division. So you have temper at Florida. You have Toronto. You have Boston. You have Montreal. Um, Ottawa is better. You have so many good teams. So you're not expecting a playoff, but Where would you set goals? If you were Don Granado and Kevin Adams, would it be individual goal collective go a little bit about what would be your approach. Well, I would be looking at for these guys to play within themselves Play the system in which don Granado is going to identify how they're going to play the game. Okay. That's something that we at home will not know. Okay, but we'll be able to watch games where you're going to see them play proper defense. You're going to see them for check a certain way you're going to see them. Make plays that are skilled hockey plays instead of this dump and chase, you know, I mean, I just looked to see our guys continue to be in games and when I say be in games being games where you're playing against You know, top 10 teams and you don't look like you're out of place. I want to see these guys compete at a high level Be structured but be free because they're young. They're they're talented, and I want to see them understand that they have to compete like this. Each and every night. It's got to be consistent. And if we see that throughout the season that is going to be what I'm watching for, because every single year you move forward. Kevin Adams will identify where the changes need to be. You're going to also have players like an own power who will come in and strengthen our team right away at the age of 20. We will have maybe a Jack Quinn who plays in the minors and gets that opportunity and seizes the opportunity, and maybe he's coming in. At 21 the year after. Maybe it's JJ Peterka. I mean, there's lots there for us to be excited about. Now. It's just have these guys play and have Kevin Adams figure out what's the next move. So what I'm looking at, and maybe it's an unfair comparison. But I look at the Ottawa Senators last year, a team that was supposed to finish 31st that was supposed to go nowhere. And that young group of players that teams tuts law and the Brady could shock and and many more. Thomas Chabot. They took a step forward. Every were fun to watch. They were in games now. They got blown out A couple of times. There was a couple of 71 and ate nothing or whatnot. Uh, but overall when you look at the 82 game season, while 56 last year You thought they were in most games. Then they got blown out and they were competitive and they took a step forward. I think that's my goal. Yes, there's individual goal. But I want to see growth in this team and last but not least, because we're going to have to take a break. We just saw Michael Peca walk by about 20 minutes ago. I think For Jack Quinn. And for many other players that you are a center or winger or even a defenseman is approach and his experience and wealth and knowledge is going to do such a good Be such a good boost for the Rochester Americans this year. I can't wait to see what set apart and and Michael Peca will do with that team and the players that will come out better. Come in. You know, Mike, we we've been around him for years. Um, you know, I I I played against Mike Peca. So as much as you sit there, and we can talk about him when he played in the National Hockey League at the age of 19. I know that he played for the Ottawa 60, seven's of the Ontario Hockey League. We know you know that guy. Well, I know Mike Peca when he was 13. No Mike Peca when he was 12 So I remember going down again. Yes, I played against my whole life. Was he the same way? I don't like to keep you. Did you have to keep? You know, The funny thing is I have a hard time letting things go and as much as mix a really nice guy, and I see him a lot because we live in the same neighborhood and stuff. He I, as much as I love them and respect them. I'll never ever be able to let go. Playing against him. When I was young, he was a super stud like I'm talking studly. He was not a big man. He was insanely fast and physical and skilled and played the game the right way in all all the ways you want him, especially back then and different. It was tough. It was tough. He was. He was the big boy in town and in Toronto. Look at this guy standing by in the camera. I thought you were golfing today, Razor. Razor says he's too good for this golf course, anyway. Um, maybe we'll have razor join us for a couple of minutes after this, because usually we have him on zoom and he has all of his high key six or whatnot. So why not take a break here? We were talking about Michael Peca. Let's not let's not talk about robbery when we come back here on the instigators, wdr 5 15 M S.

Montreal Canadiens' Shea Weber Could Miss Next Season Because of Injuries

"But then you look at shea weber. I thought he was tremendous in the playoffs in particular in the stanley cup final. I mean brayden. Point was ready to lose his mind in that series because every time he looked up he saw this mountain of a human being shea weber and there's a laundry list right of of injuries. It's the foot it's the knees it's the ankle. It's the hands. I mean on and on and on it goes so it's a developing story. We don't know that shea weber is packing news at five more years left and a lot of money on the table. You know could be placed on long-term injury for potentially the entire season twenty one twenty two well. The national hockey league has to dive into that. So we're going to revisit this in many headlines to come here on the ranger eggs podcast. But it's it's a sad one isn't it because four. Is it just the body of every player that that gets to that point in his career where the body just can't do it

"All right ray. We're pleased to be joined now by brian. Boucher i wanna say formerly of nbc. Because technically. I'm assuming that you know your time with nbc now over that the stanley cup has been awarded. And i know you're looking forward as is to to joining. Espn for next season. We'll talk about that a little bit later in the podcast but look just give us your thoughts. The run of the national hockey league certainly coming out of the short and fifty six game regular season into the playoffs which were overwhelming success with fans back in the buildings i mean it was great to see a full building in tampa bay to be able to watch the tampa bay. Lightning successfully defend their championship. But i mean you've endured pretty much the same sort of experience through the postseason that the players have it was a unique. Experience is not a fair way to describe it. Was you know. I think to start the year. I think we started the season in tampa in january mid-january there and there was no fans you know. I got tested every game. That i did that. I was inside the glass. I got tested much like the players did and as the season wore on some capacity in some buildings and then when we got to the playoffs have felt it felt more and more normal. Even though you had to test a lot of the testing protocols that were put in place where i think that you know they mastered. Basically i mean you. You went in every time you went in there. You got your result within thirty minutes. You're on your way and you just got used to it so you adjusted for the players. I can't imagine the extra grind that was put on these guys day after day. Make sure that you know. They tested okay that they live their lives. You know with relative discipline to make sure that they you know. They didn't put themselves at risk until they got vaccinated. This adds another level of of work to it and i commend all the players for doing what they did. I commend the league for pulling it off. Once again. they didn't above last year was amazing. I know it wasn't for everybody. The experience wasn't for everybody. I personally enjoyed it passed because yeah we want spas at one big you know youth hockey tournament was great and this one was different. But you know hopefully going forward that we've put this array remarried and we look forward to resuming our lives. We've normally like we normally do and we get to the rank and watch hockey full buildings everywhere on the national hockey league bush which which victory was more impressive..

"18th in the National Hockey League. There's two other teams that had better Um, statistics points. In Montreal. Montreal has no business being here, but they've had a storied and I mean, storied playoff run, and they've deserved everything that they've gotten because they've done everything as a team. They've gotten great goaltending. They have the big four back on defense, and they've had their younger guys cold Coffield, who didn't even start The playoffs. Got brought in in Game two and has never looked back. He's look fantastic. Suzuki's look fantastic, but they just don't have what it's going to take to win a Stanley Cup. I think we I think we can all of you. Have you never seen a team? An underdog team getting it done. I've seen it and listen, I would like I said we had. You know, we have a few beers and talked around on Sunday night. And John LeClair was there and I'm like, Hey. Big man like he's big man number one. I'm like they're your guys. You guys in 93. You're getting a lot of play in Montreal. Right now they keep talking about the 93 team is like the 21 team and you know it's a team of destiny, and it's not. It's not the best of teams, but they have a great goaltender. And they had Patrick in 93 John like Legos. Game three and in in L. A. We came home and we came back after the third period going to ot and Patrick was like they're not going to score. They're just they're not going to score. I'm going to stand in there and they're not gonna score. Sure enough, Montreal won Game three and overtime like it takes one game to flip things around. I'm not saying it's It's Montreal is going to get it done, But I'm saying it could. It could definitely happen and they could surprise you. Here's here's the problem that I have right now. Okay?.

"It's the Stanley Cup Final on Sports USA to Montreal. Canadians here from the Canadians are my scar. Are moving to his right, unable to stop liking it, who comes in all the way and the defending cup champion Tampa Bay Lightning Cirelli looking to move it down low little back can't score, and it's pretty point yet again came to this Wednesday on Sports USA. This broadcast is presented by the authority of Sports USA, NBC sports in the National Hockey League and may not be reproduced or retransmitted in any form. The accounts and descriptions of this game may not be disseminated without the express written consent of Sports USA, NBC Sports and the NHL. Hi. Sticking Minor on your fairy cut. Penny Emmy, and Tampa Bay has their second power play of the game. With just 409 remaining in the third period. They already lead 4 to 1. And off the face off. It's to know who heads up by short handed one on three into the Tampa Bay zone before he separated from the puck by Hedman stretch past the future off who drops it off, and Hedman gains the zone backhands it around for Stamkos into the middle, and Dino got to stick on that, knocking it away from Brayden point who lost his stick. And then out center ice number. Hedman retreats into his own ice. If you're the lightning here, a power play goal would be nice, but we'll take the two minutes off the clock just as well. Yes, honey Cirelli on this power play, not Killorn. Stamkos has it one of the right wing circle. Not a lot of urgency. Cirelli behind the net, right circle to Kuchar off again to the top of the zone and one timer by Hedman as well wide. Rimmed around the wall and Petrov can't seal it. It'll come all the way back in. The Tampa Bay zone and actually roll right to Vasilevskiy. So now they've changed that last Tampa Bay goal as well. So that means all four Tampa Bay goals. Have been deflected. Get past Carey Price. Come on. Don't already brought back in. Johnson gives it to surrogates have in the top back to Johnson in the right circle. Price makes the save rebound loose in front of him, and he will cover it up. You know, they just announced the goal in the building to Kuchar off even though they had changed it moments before, So I don't think we're going to know who got that goal until after this one. All said and done, and now the officials are starting to take guys off here, Joe. Well, Johnny, Johnny Gord. Oh, I don't know if he's six Ft. £187 he just he took about Four or five punches from Edmondson, and it was gored that was actually initiating and Edmonson is much, much bigger, his wingspan as much longer. And so George kept trying to get better. Evanston didn't show it on his gloves. But he just kept on punching a tale of the tape favorite Edmondson, but the penalty does as well. So Canadians are going to be two men down for the next 31 seconds. Time and time in the penalty. I beg your pardon his 17 20. Now I think it's clear that the frustration rules the day it's not Montreal, right? It's not unusual for teams that are losing by. 234 goals in a playoff game. At the end, this has been happening throughout the history a playoff hockey point off the left ports rushes it back Cirelli and Johnson across the top. Future off down low takes a hit working around the perimeter. Stamkos now out high bottom of the right circle. Kuchar off back to Stamkos, two man advantage for Tampa Bay leads it. For Tyler Johnson. Failing on the one timer was Stamkos is Pass from future off got tangled in escapes first penalty over too cocky Neami, now five on four power play for another minute 20 for Tampa Bay and again the clock is their friend under two minutes to go, they lead 4 to 1. Two troughs past. Pickles across to stamp posts in the left circle. You trying to preach pulls it in and blocker save made by price, little redirect from Pilate in front bounces high in the zone had been able to keep it. You're off. Engaged in the corner by Sharratt Loose puck behind Brayden point, has it Trough fails on a one timer in the right circle, and the nice past comes back to stamp post. They play catch through the seam, and now Stamkos knocked off his skates point has it in the corner. Only 15 to go in the game. Totally unselfish play by Kucherov. This is just keep away If nothing else, and Stamkos rockets are one timer home from the bottom of the left circle set up by Who else? Nikita, Cut your arm, Kucherov was bound and determined. Set somebody else up and not score a goal himself. He had a couple of chances as Tampa Bay get moving the puck around to shoot the puck. And he just gets deferring and deferring and deferring until this last play, he ends up with the puck to the left of carry price down in the corner. He skates all away along the boards towards the blue line. He cuts all the way to the middle of the ice. And instead of taking a shot, Steven Stamkos was over on the left side being a right handed shot, and he just laid it out their form and stand close, took the shot right off the past. Beat Carey Price on the short side eight of the playoffs for Stamkos, his fifth on the power play, and that ends a span A streak of 32 consecutive penalty kills. The Montreal Canadians over the last 14 games in the postseason. It is 51 Tampa Bay, and there's under a minute to play in the game and 15,900 strong on their feet and Emily Arena. Corey Perry goes wide on the right side throws it to the front of the Net one off escape. Vasilevskiy made the stop. Holten lifts it back into the Montreal zone is now we're down to 30 seconds remaining in Game one. Canadians to center Josh Anderson into the zone, his shot off the leg of McDonough and to the corner three point night for future off. Unsure if he's got two goals and an assist or a goal and two assists or a goal and two assists, But it will all come out in the wash. Etienne settle a puck in front of their own men, and now they'll count it down and Emily stretched ahead. Prepared by Gustafsson wires it wide and then gets finished by McDonagh the puck out of play and the horn sounds Game one. Close to the Tampa Bay Lightning 5 to 1..

"Well, they had a worst year. And I mean, they're the worst year in the National Hockey League this year, so and I don't think he's all you know. I don't think he jumped up from his couch and do a little dance when the Sabres one that won the first pick, and, uh, you know, I don't think he's sitting all right. Yeah, just pumping his arm. And you know, all fired up that the Sabres here and you get a decent draft pick here. You know, I'd be kind of surprised if he was so Um, but you know what could happen here, though? What if he got traded to a team like Colorado? You know, a Stanley Cup contending team you know, after the season were to be over He might back off his surgery thing. Then he might say, I'm gonna seem that could win the Stanley Cup here. What do you guys want me to do? Yeah, I think I'll listen to their doctors. If they don't want me to get to surgery. I'm hip. I'm fine. I'll just You know, I'll do what they say. Where he You know, in this situation. He's like Uh, This is what I want, and I really don't care what you want, you know, type of a thing, so he could change his mind depending out if he got traded to a team that is very close to winning a Stanley Cup. You know, Paul, the way you just laid that out and again, I want to be clear. Like you know, we're this is worth a lot of it. It's speculative here. Um, but it almost it almost reads Like what? You're what you're saying here. Everything that we've talked about in this 1st 20 minutes. So it sounds like a way of effectively. Having a no move clause before you have no move clause right like if you if you want to trade me to a place that I want to go, I'll cooperate medically with them or with you. Maybe. But if you want to trade me to Calgary, or, you know, whatever some outpost Um, you know someplace that I don't want to go there. Well, then what I want Right. Right. Then I'm gonna I'm going to keep I'm going to be steadfast in my, you know, I want this surgery. I want this surgery. I mean that. Why it really is, man. It is. It is. It is tangled. We, um let's see 80305 fifties the number we've got Mike on the line. Who's got an idea for for a trade for Eichel? So we'll get that in here. Right now, Mike. Hi. You're on w g R. Thanks for calling. You guys are you? Um What do you guys think of, you know, I'm Going to get rid of Eichel. I'd love to get a couple couple, you know, an established player and somebody whose job was an up and comer. What about Minnesota? What do you think about Kevin Fiala and Marco Rossi? I think I honestly think the saber should have drafted Rossi last year over Quinn. He you know, he had said a tremendous junior season. He's fast. He's the center. Um, you could plug right in. Hopefully, next year if you have to coming off of the cold, the situation Fiala 24 years old been a solid 20 to 25 goals work. Young, good fast. I think those two guys that fit it really well and Help the team. And now he end in the future. I'll start with that. I I don't I would say that's not enough. I think if you're if you're it might be a start if you're talking to Minnesota, but I I would say I don't know, Bulldog. I would say that wouldn't be close to be enough, wouldn't you? Right? Yeah. I mean, I like both of those players. But, Rossi, we you know you're you're banking on him becoming, you know a top six cent Erman, which you know, I think you can be optimistic about that. But until you know, plus he's coming off a year, completely lost in washed away by covid. He he got hit very hard. Sounds very similar Myocardial is very similar to the bills tight end Tommy Sweeney. Um, you know, he's recovering and the I read Bill Garrin, their GM talking about he's you know, he's in great health, and he's ready to go and all that so good, But he had an entire year off of hockey basically. Um, so that that would alarm me, But, yeah, I think you need to. You need to find your way to another prospect and some draft picks, probably, but like as far as like the names there. It's a good, Paul. You said it right. I think it's a good start like so thanks a lot for the call. Appreciate it. We'll have that, as are getting connected with our fans. This segment, which is brought to you by Bond, Shannon and King, a full service. Buffalo law firm. Paul you. You're going to sit tight, right? You're hanging with us for for a while here, right? Yeah. All right. Good. Whatever you need, I'm alright. Good gala Friday to with your finger. Social Friday. Yeah. I'll probably watch some hockey later and tomorrow. I got some plants. If you want to work on Saturday, I would have probably a little more things to do. But today I'm Paul, I I don't I don't I don't. I don't have to work on Saturday, having to see if there's a bar opening down near Angola. My favorite band hit and run is going to be out there so And Dunleavy thinks might join me after the bison scheme and get the lawn chairs out and enjoy some music. That sounds great. That sounds real nice. I got a nice text message from Dan just a little while ago before you came out. Actually, it was nice to hear from him so Good deal. Make sure you tell him I said hello, although I certainly just did that on the radio and via text message earlier, So it's one of those things you just say, because it seems like something to say, to end the conversation. I really should have just said Let's take a break. Paul sit tight. We'll squeeze in some more calls. We've got a lot to get to the draft lottery. Joe has a game for us. I think at six o'clock Paul by the Yes, I do play to be a Joe's game, so not guessing NBA players or soccer players will probably be okay. Probably be some NBA, but you have a choice. You don't have to ask for the NBA. I'll throw myself on that grenade unless we're talking about the Buffalo Braves or something like that. I might be able to hang with that. This this edition of this game will not include the NBA. So Paul safe, All right. Look at that. Customized it for you. Paul. Joe Joe is the best. Let's take a time out. From Public Defender To Stanley Cup Champion

"So joe for those who might not follow the nhl super closely. Can you just give us a sense of what jon cooper has accomplished during his as a coach in the nhl. Definitely jon cooper is the longest tenured coach shell. He's on an eight th anniversary of his hiring on this week. The winningest coach in franchise history for the lightning. And i think he's highly regarded as one of the better coaches in the league and probably a candidate coach team. Canada at the next olympics are positions and olympics for the trump player so deadly highly regarded coach but up until this past season. He hasn't won the big one and that was kind of the big question surrounding it. And how would you describe his personality. Well he's a players go. She's a really fun personality. Like you quotes wedding crashers. Upper seventy six. No excuses public champion. You uses a champion. The only person you have to answer to when you go home at night is really yourself. The national media loves him because he is a great world this charismatic. You're going to get knocked down. There's no question people are going to push down. Because ultimately they want to see it fail if you think maybe teams on trips to like field of dreams when he was in earlier years coaching. He's all about the different sides and binding guys together on the ice and that if you get is connected as a group and the for each other and very process over outcome kind of guy and so you definitely has that charisma that makes them unique. I think the players like that. We'll show you recently. Wrote about how jon cooper has followed perhaps the most unconventional path of any stanley cup winning coach. So take us back to the late. Nineteen ninety s. What was john. Cooper's lifelike at that time he was living in a condo east lansing area couple remains but he was just trying to figure out where you wanted to be in his life. What he wanted to do for work. He was good ball. Charismatic lawyer but his heart wasn't in it always always wondering when is the fulfillment. When are you going to sit there and wake up every day and say. I can't wait to go do what i'm gonna do. He was defender district court in lansing michigan about a thousand dollars a month. You know we're going for indigent clients. He was working on. du is having divorces. You've got a two person law. Office him in a paralegal. He's still didn't know i guess. Were taken at that point. And you got in touch with the judge. Who worked with jon cooper back. Then what did he say about cooper skills in the courtroom and you just notice and how clients clients listen to prosecutors respected him i think is the kind of ability that transcends coaching the ability to persuade players to adopt your system or just believe the approach. So you know. He's he's a good salesman. He always says convincing players. Convincing a jury and i don't think he knew then that it would be kind of the key to him. Maybe starting coaching career. So how did jon cooper go from being this lowly paid lawyer and a former lacrosse player. Who had only played a year of club hockey in college to being high school hockey coach. Well the run in his son playful lansing catholic high school and they needed a coach and so he knew of john skills on the ice and new of his charisma and then he is asked to one day in the building. I saw the coach. would you be interested. He looks at me and goes. Dc the stack of resumes. I have he says. I'll tell you one thing you coach kids high school hockey team and i will take your resume from here. We put it here. Just this exactly. That was his first kind of foray into coaching hockey. Was nine thousand nine hundred nine hundred thousand lansing catholic cougars hockey team and that was seventeen. You actually talked to some of the players on that lansing catholic team. What did they tell you about jon. Cooper the high school coach. I think what's interesting knees. They remember the first meeting in the cafeteria where he's using himself to like twenty kids and parents and those us have just nervous as they were and are waiting to hear whereas the hockey background. Who did he coach before. Because one of the red wings was he part of this huge talk about law school in wall street and this guy another guys were in the nhl players. Even highly college players inducted himself would be anywhere high in coaching world. A reflection of guys play together. I think they'll be the first ones to tell you. None of them really on the track to make the national hockey league but they were such a joy to be around the competed their butts off just line. Who an awkward gesture. The of funny kid and team talked about like there was a hill just a mile from the school that the workouts outside the big hill. The he must've just saw he was driving around and he made us run up this hill with do bear calls and stuff. That is the source. I've ever been my life like. I could not long like off chris. Monrovia now works the red wings. Illitch family talked about how they had this practice where they had no on the ice and they're doing push ups and sit ups and kristin ross. Who served in the military students in afghanistan he goes. I went through the army for seven years. And i went through a lot of work out a lot of hellish days. Afghans dead. That's one of those days that i think back much. It's not as bad as back. And what else did you learn about his coaching philosophy back. Then you know like what were the things that were important to him that he really emphasized to the team. Making guys feel connected or part of it no matter if you were the best player on this team or like the thirteenth forward and i think jeff swan is appropriate examples. Like i wasn't the most natural coordinated like county out now who put me not aligned with the two players. Mike sack out with the most gifted athlete. That are high school in you. The team is better holding. Some of its part. They wanted them to play. Have have meaning and swan. Storing the biggest fools that season the most for player that year. So you know. He's told everyone the most improved player really halls like a special place for him. Something he takes lightly. It was a really really nice compliment. They talked about the hard hat that they gave out. After every win which was an all white instruction half that was something that the player of the game whether at block shot or a big hit or in ceremony the post game. We'll get this production. How they put their name and a sharpie but it was more of a. What did you do to help the team. Really recognizing layers who maybe didn't shop scores sheep but who are just dedicated themselves to helping the team. These success those are moments that came together that they remember forever and become an integral part of their story on a way to winning out like the championship. Well this sort of ragtag bunch of guys did win an unlikely state regional championship in almost mighty ducks kind of way and joe as you talks to all these guys who played for jon. Cooper what connections. Were you able to make between cooper the coach of the lansing catholic cougars and cooper the coach of the stanley. Cup champion tampa bay. Lightning guesswork me. Talking to guys. That new men who've now that he hasn't changed much in terms of his personality he had kind of style which coach's house you through professional level versus coaching. high school. Kids a lot of the same kind of tenants but he had then he still uses today. Kerry that floss with me all the way through the nhl in onto the honestly. It doesn't really change. Human beings are human beings and everybody needs to be motivated. It's just finding the right way to motivate. Rose stood up in my living room and watch the game and cheer tampa. You're welcome. you're welcome for started. His rise

"Radio stations, some of which have toll free numbers and others. The don't that just believe Listen, The call's gonna call. They're not gonna worry about whether we're paying for the charge or not, And they have regular telephone numbers. Um I try and do a good enough show that people are gonna want to call and not think about. Oh, my God, I gotta pay to talk to Joey MacDonald. I don't know that that's worth it. I hope that's not the case for any of you guys that you actually contemplate whether you're calling or not, because It's a toll free line. Shame on me. If that's the case, Um I hope the questions the content. The conversation we're having is the reason you pick it up and dial 855 to 124227. In the world in which we live nowadays where people converse. 95% of the time on cell phones. That's just a guess. I've never looked it up. I don't know exactly what the number is. I don't even know how you go about. I guess you could do a research project on anything. Um, but most people use their cell phone and most people use cell phones have guests at this one. 85% have unlimited plans. So it doesn't cause that you're paying for it anyway. Enjoyed your segment with Eddie. They're really like to your heart. You once in a while. I got a quick question. I'll just hang up on you, Um, the New Jersey Devil. The team that skin still, Amorello. Um Brodeur days seems, have gotten nowhere. Where do you think or any idea of how they're shaping up this year? On the outside of the playoffs. Looking in, they surely were last year, and I don't know that they made enough significant changes, Wade say. All right, we have, but this can't get back. They've got a couple of young guys who are eligible to step up. And have a better season and they did last year. Um, but I still think that's a tricky division. Aaron the one thing that I will give the devil's Ah puncher's chance with and this goes for all the teams in the National Hockey League, the new format where there's only going to be divisional play. So you're only playing seven other teams in the National Hockey League familiarity and playing teams as many times as you do. I think kind of levels, the playing field that if you're playing teams that you don't get to see much and kept count is AH are going to be more broad. Um, then, if you get on a bad role, and you don't know the other team that talented, just gonna will itself out. In the new structured NHL with the fact that they're going to be playing the same teams over and over and over and over and over again, I didn't get kind of Bunches everybody together. I think it puts the most talented teams at a slight disadvantage. I think it puts the less talented teams of which I would include the Devils. A little bit more in the middle. That's not a ringing endorsement. I'm sorry to say if you're double fan was looking me say something nice about devils. I'm kind of reaching to do so. That I think everybody's gonna be bunched a little bit more in this new format. They're only in OK hockey team. They're if they're okay. That's optimistic. I don't think they're a very good hockey team. I surely don't believe there are great acting team. And I can't even get so far is to say a good hockey team there. Okay, That's why I think they're probably a sub 500 team They were last year. Um, how that's going to play off play out to making the playoffs is still to be determined. Gotta finish in the top four. Do I think they could be in the top four in their division? Probably not. I'm not even ready to make having put enough time and effort into laying out the 16 teams that I think you're going to make the playoffs. Top four from each of the divisions. I'm not ready to go there, but sorry Devil fans. Pushed, I would say I don't believe the devil. They're going to be one of the poor out of the east. The Northeast Division this year. Alright, Joe T mat, keeping the phones open. I got Gary from Jacksonville.
