Fresh update on "national football league" discussed on The Stuttering John Podcast

"Yeah, let me answer this for anybody out there that says that shit. Understand that there is so much stuff that's going on. I'll across the globe. You know, honestly, I saw the Colin Kaepernick thing because it was just because let me tell you something. I don't give a shit about sports. I don't follow sports. I know you do. I know you like to watch games to look at. I don't. To me, I don't, I don't play in that world. I will tell you if I watch any sport at all, it's tagged on UFC. I love watching UFC fights and stuff like that. And I think I love patty the baddie. I love patty the baddie. But other than that, I don't follow sports. I just happen to see, you know, like at the corner of my eye when something come on that was talking about Colin Kaepernick and then of course I looked at it and the reason why I looked at it is because if you would have said any other name in sports, I wouldn't have cared. But I have seen Colin Kaepernick over the years be crucified for basically saying, look, I've got to take a stand. I'm a quarterback in a National Football League association and I have a lot of people that watch me and everybody watches every single Sunday and I want to do something to highlight the fact and bring light to the fact that African Americans are being killed at an alarming rate because they move their hand from the ten to two to the 9 to three. You know, an African American is being shot and killed because of a tail light that was out. You know, when you are a parent of a black child and that child goes and gets it slices, that's a scary moment for you. Because you know that the moment that you're African American son gets his license, the moment he gets in his car for the first time and drives alone, there could be the potential loss of his life just around the corner. And you can say that's bullshit, but look at the facts. Look at the facts. So he decided that he was going to make a stand. And he chose to sit the national anthem. Because why? Why should he? Why should he stand and play and pay respect to an anthem that don't give a shit about him? Why should any female today in the United States of America stand at the fucking national anthem when every female in this country has just been reduced? From equality to beneath the equality by taking away their ability to choose what to do with their body..

Jack Del Rio Calls out the Left's Hypocrisy

"The Washington commander's find its defensive coordinator. A man named Jack Del Rio, Washington commanders in NFL team National Football League team. It was known as the Redskins for about 80 years. Until the left in an act of utter irrationality got rid of the name, forced them to. Del Rio compared the January 6th protests at the capital with the quote riots looting and burning unquote that destroyed thousands of businesses and cities during the summer of 2020. This is what he said in a press conference earlier last week. Why are we not looking into those things if we're going to talk about it and why are we not looking into those things? I see the images on TV, people's livelihoods are being destroyed, businesses are being burned down, no problem. And then we have a dust up at the capitol, nothing burned down, and we're going to make that a major deal. Every word he said is accurate. As I said, the Democrats use the January 6th, the way the national socialists as they were known in Germany used the Reichstag fire. As an excuse to impose draconian rule in the country. And not comparing the Democrats to the Nazis. Obviously, I'm comparing tactic to tactic. The question was referencing a tweet he made before the press conference in which he asked to hear the whole story. On the so called protest at the capitol. Quote would love to understand the whole story about why the summer of riots looting burning and destruction of personal property is never discussed, but this is, question mark question mark question mark. Hashtag common sense. Since his comments came under fire, he has since apologized after the team's head coach Ron Rivera issued a statement so sad he apologized. It is so sad.

Jon Gruden Resigns as Raiders Coach Over Decade-Old Offensive Emails

"John Gruden has always been kind of a wild child in the NFL always been a little bit of a loose cannon, if you will. And I believe he was also he was also the coach of the Oakland Raiders in like the 90s. And then he went to the Buccaneers and led them to the Super Bowl very complicated. But then he rejoined the Raiders in 2018 after he was an analyst on Monday Night Football. Do you remember those things he used to sit down with the quarterbacks? And it was like Gruden's corner. I've never been a big fan of Jon Gruden. I'll be very honest. One in 2002, that's right, my memory's not too bad. I'm not going to be an apologist for Jon Gruden. Okay? I'm sure he lives a complicated life like most people in the NFL. But this recent saga involving in his resignation slash termination is disgusting. And the national Football Association is in many different ways. In enterprise that is built on a House of Cards. The entire structure of how many of the teams are filed as nonprofits on how almost every stadium is built thanks to taxpayer dollars. There's a lot of corruption that exists in the national football, the National Football League. And so it came out a couple days ago that John Gruden is going to be fired, or it has to speak out for his racist and homophobic emails over ten years ago. And I shrugged my shoulders and I actually didn't know where this one was going to go. Because John Gruden signed a ten year 100 million dollar deal with the Oakland Raiders. And now so he technically resigned whatever he says, I have resigned as the head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. I love the Raiders and do not want to be distraction. Thank you to all the players coaches and staff and fan fans of raider nation. I'm sorry I never meant to hurt anyone, John Gruden. And so it was revealed in some of these emails. And based from what I've said, seen should have said something's probably not no, was he joking around in private in a context that none of us can understand? Yes. He incited Joe Biden, insulted Joe Biden I can't even say what he called Joe Biden on air. It's kind of hilarious. Called Roger Goodell, a certain name. I'm no fan of Roger Goodell. So if this whole thing is like a Roger Goodell, apology tour, but here's what really matters. Here's the question. In the National Football League, do they ever allow people to do bad things and continue to participate? Like murder. How about rate Ray Lewis and his legacy of the unsolved double murder? Or how about you remember this one? You remember ray rice, who literally punched his fiance in an elevator? It was an elevator, right? Which gained total notoriety following the indictment he was released by the ravens and suspended, and now rice would be reinstated after he successfully appealed the league's decision. And this whole thing with John Gruden is this question of should you be judged by things you have said in private ten years ago to destroy your current

Arizona Cardinals' Kliff Kingsbury on Hot Seat?

"All right my friend. We've covered three quarters of the national football league and we save kind of the best for last as far some of the most competitive divisions in the national football league so we may as well starting out in my neck of the woods relatively speaking with the arizona cardinals who find themselves pain as six to one hundred dollars to win the nfc west. This season their win. Total sits at eight and a half. You do have to lay a buck in a quarter if you wanna go. Under that total third season in the valley of the sun for cliff kingsbury last two years of tailed off in the latter. Half of the schedule. When you look at how this team performed. They lost six out of their final nine games. Second year in a row as we said they fallen apart down the stretch. Arizona elite league and penalties and you begin to worry about the decision making enga- management that oak liffey boy has shown since taking over last winning season for this franchise came back in two thousand fifteen where they were pummeled by the panthers in the playoffs but point differential last year plus forty three best amongst teams. That didn't finish with a winning record. Missed out a postseason berth. By virtue of a tiebreaker is the chicago bears edge. Them out schedule though starts all away from home where they'll play three or four on the highway to kick things off when you look at the arizona cardinals pain. We know it's all about the offense but they've also made some pretty good editions at least in my opinion on the defensive side as well arizona's tough for me to gauge. And it doesn't help that. They're playing in this division. Which is probably the most competitive and i don't really know i'm sold on kingsbury yet. And we've mentioned this number a couple times over the years but i think it's really interesting because it's mind blowing. You can get an nfl job with a resume like kingsbury. He was twenty three and forty at tack if you remove. Fcs opponents and kansas from his record. So it's really interesting from that

Bucks versus the Celtics. You've got Golden State versus Phoenix. You've got the Knicks versus the land and the Brooklyn Nets and the Los Angeles Lakers are the highlight game in the middle of that schedule. They very rarely get Christmas Day games wrong. "Minority owners coming in at some point, but he is the he is the sole owner after buying back the minority shares from Dwight Schar, Fred Smith and Bob Rothman. And what was a very contentious uh, I think And this is that I don't know if it's been publicly put out like this, But I think it was a takeover attempt by the minority owners who were looking for a greater evaluation on on their sale of their minority piece, and all of this negativity started to pop up. In the Washington Post started to pop up and and social media. These accusations were thrown out there, all of which, incidentally, Dan Snyder has claimed responsibility for even though he was not directly implicated in any of those things. Um, And the news today is twofold. One that Daniel Snyder is it was fined $10 million. At least the Washington football team was fined $10 million. The clarity on that is that $10 million will go to charities, which which Tania, his wife and Dan will choose. So it's a $10 million fine, but it'll all go to an important cause. The other thing. That I think is not insignificant in this is that Dang Dwight Schar, who was one of those minority owners, and a lot of people believed was involved in the smear campaign on on Daniel Snyder has been banned for life. From the NFL. So, uh, while we while we want to vilified, um some of the things that went on inside the Washington organization, the the campaign It was put out to embarrass and try to force. Mr Snyder to Snell also came to light and again, I'll read it, I'll say it again. Dwight Schar, who was a minority owner, has been banned for life from the National Football League. Take that of what you will. Um, but that's not the story. So a lot of people there's some misconceptions out

"Listeners it's mike schneider and i'm brett molina and welcome back to talking tech. As with many other events canceled due to the covid nineteen pandemic. there is no south by south west festival in austin texas. This year. That is true. But there's a virtual south by southwest going on online through saturday march twentieth. And i got a chance to participate. Let me tell you a little bit about it. I've been scheduled to moderate a panel last year gaming for good but the festival got cancelled entirely when we knew there was going to be a virtual festival this year the company that sponsored the panel skills decided to go ahead and do it so we recorded our discussion over zoom in late february and it was really enlightening and very made me very hopeful about things. Here there's a story. On tech usa today dot com. You can read that if you want. If you really wanna watch the panel and do all the other fun things at south by southwest. Has you can still buy a ticket to the festival. There's a link in my story for that too. But here's the basics. I learned from from the panel. The panelists we had three of them. there's a program called gamers outreach that provides video game carts that means it has like a secure tv and a game console on. It's it's either hook to wireless or however they do in the hospital in two hundred thirty children's hospitals around the us the founder zach. Weigel began the program when he was a high schooler halo tournament. The got cancelled He'd organiz the tournament but public safety official voice concerns about the high school cafeteria being used for a hobby. That was quote corrupting the minds of america's youth in quote. The guy said so to show the gamers from it meant well the next year weigel try it again and raise money for a local children's hospital with that resulting tournament part of that he learned. The hospitals often have trouble keeping kids occupied when they're recovering from treatment in their rooms so that led him to begin having online fundraising to get these. You know cards game carts into hospitals all over the country if you wanna get involved gamers outreach as gamers forgiving event online this weekend and there's a lincoln my story or you can go to gamers forgiving dot org also this weekend skills which is spelled s. k. i. l. l. z has a gaming for good tournament to benefit the american red cross. You might have heard about skills. They they became a publicly traded company in december twenty twenty and last month. They signed a multi year deal with the national football league to create a mobile game in any sports community around the game. That's gonna come out later this year. Basically did a crowd source thing to get developer to find a way to create a cool game. Some Capitol Hill Lawmakers Back Amazon Workers' Attempt To Unionize

"Nearly six thousand amazon employees who work at a warehouse in bessemer alabama are voting by mail on whether to unionize. If they do this will be the first union amazon facility in this country. Here's jennifer bates. Who works there. I keep butterflies and butterflies. Normally come to calm me but hey this is my stomach faithful. It seems like it's getting bigger and bigger full of butterflies. Because there's no break in. Think i don't know how kogo nerve wracking. The election ends later. This month and i should mention. That amazon is a financial supporter of npr. But we cover them like any other company. Some lawmakers support the union. Including senator marco marco rubio or republican and of course president biden also michigan congressman andy levin earlier this month. He and a group of democrats traveled to bessemer. Good morning congressman. Good morning noel. How are you good thanks. What did amazon employees. They're tell you about why they want to unionize. Well you know a union election so often are about basic dignity and that was really true here. I was shocked to learn what it's really like in there They work in a facility. That's like fourteen football fields and it can take ten minutes to walk to a break room. They've to half hour breaks in a ten hour shift so they might get effectively ten hours to eat lunch be by the time they walk there and back lot of them. Don't feel like they can go to the bathroom. Except on their break. And they're watched and quantified every second they're monitored visually a listening geo positioning and every second they're not on task is measured and if they have a certain number of minutes off task in a week they could be fired sometimes might not even be a person involved it was really kind of dehumanizing to me. Here's the argument. That amazon makes amazon. Says look our employees. Earn fifteen dollars an hour which is a good wage in a place like bessemer alabama. Some of them have health benefits. 401k's essentially they have got the benefits that a union would get them. They don't need a union. What do you make of that argument. I'd like to tell that argument to any national football league player and the actor and a movie any presenter on major television or radio networks all of whom have a union every single one. The idea that unions are only for people who are the most poorly paid. It's ridiculous the one person who is unionized. That every airline is the pilot so this argument is ridiculous. These workers deserve a seat at the table to discuss a safe workplace. During a pandemic they deserve a seat at the table to have a workplace. That's human and a real person can go to and great make fifteen dollars. An hour amazon should pay them a lot more the owner of the company. The main owner had his wealth increase. Seventy eight billion dollars during a pandemic and they're about pay jeff bezos in their bag bragging about paying people fifteen dollars an hour there. What's wrong with workers having their own organization just that they can have input in their in in their work lives. And that's all these people are seeking is a seat at the table during this trip to alabama that you went on your colleague congressman jamaal. Bowman said this doesn't stop with amazon. He mentioned lift. Uber tesla and walmart as well. What is the ultimate goal here. The goal is for workers to be able to form a union and bargain collectively. If they darn well please. Noel were down to six percent of private sector workers in this country needing union. We're gonna pass the proactive in the congress and the president is going help. Lead into new era when workers can have a say at the table. It's long pastime in this country. Michigan congressman andy levin. Thank you

Wide Receivers Were the Order of the Day on Franchise Tag Day

"Today was tagged a in the National Football League. We found out stars that we're getting the franchise tag, which may preclude them from Changing teams, and we found out some players that didn't get the franchise tag. Wide receivers were the order of the day and Alan Robinson gets the franchise tag. Chris Godwin gets the franchise tag will have more on Godwin and Brady coming up in a few minutes because this is a really big deal. But now who do you go after right? Who's the number one wide receiver you go after, and The guy who was going to be the beneficiary of this. And look, we've talked about who the three best wide receivers were gonna be in free agency this year, right? You and I did this about a month ago, and it was Robinson and it was Godwin and it was Kenny Golladay. You got it? And I know that that some people are going to be a little nervous. About Golladay. Oh, he was hurt. Last year, he was on pace for his best year in 2020 until he got hurt. I am so in on Kenny Golladay. Getting hurt last year doesn't concern me. You know anytime, you miss games, whether it's zits calf or it's a hamstring. It's not that big a deal right? And it's not something where wait. There's a big injury and maybe they're not going to be as fast as they once were. It's not that big a deal. I go after Kenny Golladay because he is everything. That a team's gonna want in a wide receiver. He can be the big target in the red zone. He's someone is going to stretch the defense. He is terrific. Listen. Matthew Stafford has been blessed with good wide receivers and great wide receivers his time in Detroit before he got traded to Los Angeles and Kenny Golladay. Is that good? I mean, he's going to get paid and He's the big winner today with the other guy's getting franchised and Kenny Golladay is going to get a lot of money and rightfully so, because he is extremely talented. I love the kid. Congratulations to him. Not only will he get out of Detroit and whatever the next phase of their world is, but he's going to get a mountain of cash to do it.

So That's just how much faith that's how much faith I have in the Detroit Lions, and that's one reason why I'm no longer a die hard fan like a lot of people are Well, I appreciate you guys to straighten me out. And you know what? I will not fight with anybody on Twitter about the lions anymore. I you bigger fans. You guys a bigger fan than I am. You heard it. Just a fan of football. I am just fan of football, Michigan football and then some other football. We need to go to a break. On the other side. We're going to see Jet Chad Tough Eve. It went viral last yesterday on Saturday, but the auction is still open and we're going to talk to the executive director. Monica, Um, branch out and find out how we could get involved with how people can purchase Thie do an auction auction for these these many gifts that are on that option. Hundreds of billions of dollars are at stake, so we can expect the league to do everything it can to get on the field as Faras fans in the stands. Philadelphia already says no. It will probably go city by city. But there's another big problem Besides the pandemic. And that is social justice. If NFL players insist on injecting politics into Game day, pro football will get hurt, not enough to put it on the disabled list. But many fans, they're not going to enjoy left wing displays. Already. We've seen New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees castigated for saying he believes players should stand for the national anthem Freeze actually had to apologize. Why Because most of his team mates are black. And sympathize with protest ng during the anthem. Bree's new is team around would be damaged if he didn't back down. Don't need to report early now. Thie. NFL's regular season opener is scheduled for September 10th. The NFL has looked at many scheduling contingency plans because of Corona virus, but he's planning to start the season. On time. Three players in the NBA's New Orleans pelicans have tested positive for covert 19 from when the MBA testing began one week ago. The Denver Nuggets closed their facilities after two employees tested positive for Kuroda virus over the weekend and 1/3 did this week. Those three were part of the Nuggets 35 person traveling party, which includes players, coaches and staff. The schedule eight games left in the regular season. For each team, they say was based off the remaining games from each club's own schedule. Keep in mind. It's gonna wind up a shortened season this year scheduled well, each team had under 20 games left in a full regular season. It'll be fewer than the 82 games this year, about 72 each. Dallas will play 75. The league says it worked together with the union to prioritize health and safety for Orlando and provide a platform to address social justice issues. Back to you. Thanks a bunch. Steve appreciated the Jason threat show with my Carmen Steve to Sager. In for Mike Harmon tonight. Big stuff from Seth Everett. S. championship but ended up losing the the Little League World Series championship came to Japan but it was fun to through at least feel like you're a part of it even in a small round back in two thousand and one a cherished childhood memory of getting shellacked district qualifier in Orlando Florida did you have orange slices at least at the end you get to go to the orange slices and a Gatorade the little music on the ride home after getting smacked by these kids look like they were twenty two years old when I was eleven eighteen.

"Seven G. M. as in the National Football League the move the NFL draft three years okay watch the tape yes we've inform you commissioner Roger Goodell's told teams around the league draft will go on as rigidly scheduled next month so it will take place April twenty third through the twenty fifth will be scaled down in televised in a way that reflects current conditions it was originally planned to be a big outdoor production in Las Vegas that softies in golf on the decision by the league to keep the draft where it is from a logistical standpoint from a due diligence standpoint from a tone deaf standpoint I don't see how this can go off without a hitch and we already know that it's a crapshoot as it is but we're not having those private workouts not having a chance for your doctors maybe to put hands on the whole guys or maybe get another medical report afterwards if you send somebody to another position because right now all physicians are under such stress and such strain because of his medical health crisis that we have right now anybody moving with any kind of certainty or absolute fox says to me that there's money on the line and there's deadlines that have to be met the goal of doing going will Kane on the idea that the NFL show must go on I think we have to make do do what we can to do our best and I Roger Goodell's right to move forward with the NFL draft because postponing it begs the question of until when what are we gonna be out of this when we got to get back to normalcy when can John Elway go interview players I don't have the answer to that I don't think doctor felt she has the answer to that I don't think anybody has the answer to that just yet if you don't have an answer that you have to make do from Harlem world since free agency started I bother certainly been some I haven't seen a lot of kickback it's everywhere all little nervous of what are people going to think out there guys are signing these big deals in again in our world where a lot of times the big machine of the NFL can get ripped for not doing things socially right I haven't seen a lot of that so I I do think people are enjoying it again in the in the sports world and I and I do think people enjoy the dry the worst of the pandemic is probably still about fifteen days away right and then it's how do we deal with that and that would put us literally eight nine ten days before the start of the draft and there might be a different dynamic there but at this point I think the idea of the NFL going for from a public from a sports fans rushed back right let's be clear I think people are somewhat comfortable with that again this is a by product the New World War now in player physicals not exactly ideal for NFL teams who haven't been able to get the players their facilities to after agreeing to deals one such example the ravens and Michael Brockers the defensive tackle well he's now not heading to Baltimore instead and heading back to the rams two sides did reach an agreement last week on a three year deal rockers couldn't take it a physical at their facility openly did so with an independent doctor concerns arose over a lingering ankle injury two sides couldn't come to terms on an amended deal so he's back to LA for three season cowboys come to terms on deals with kicker Greg Zuerlein and defensive tackle Dontari Poe's airline gets three or seven point five million PO two seasons at ten point five signing in education Dallas is looking to get bigger on that front line speaking of boys.

"Why I don't I don't think he's a general manager in the National Football League that wants Tom Brady I think what you're going to have is for lack of a better word a desperate owner I don't think there's a general manager that wants to quote on quote build his ball club around a forty three year old quarterback he's putting his job on the line to do that and what is he may be going to play one year Mike well Mike that's why I'll keep you on why is that are you have a little echo we actually go sorry Mike good point out interesting point there's not a single gentlemen during the week Mike says who wants Tom Brady it's a desperate owner well I don't think you're building your team around Tom Brady and you set yourself Mike if Brady signs of what it's got to be a one year deal if he's gonna be a two year deal let's say it's a two year deal that's not building around Tom Brady that is making Brady the last step of your Super Bowl puzzle like if you're the Tennessee Titans you were one of the final four teams this year why did you lose the chief so one of the reasons why I watch the chiefs as they got up on you in the second half Ryan Tannehill had to throw the ball it is good as he was in the regular season and as Gooding body else's numbers where he ultimately couldn't get it done you would rather have Tom Brady in that spot severe the Titans you're ready have your foundation built you were just one piece away from a Super Bowl and not PC thank it's Tom Brady so you know maybe the pretty market will not be as robust as we think he is forty two going on forty three and he did not have a good year last year Brady was bad and the weapons around them were bad and the offense of line was subpar and the running game stunk so we had pretty much everything working against him in New England that's true but ultimately it was his worst year statistically since two thousand two his second full season in the league what's the game's over throwing guys throwing a guy's feet not handling pressure nearly as well as he has in the past throwing balls away left and right not taking contact yeah Brady was not very good in twenty nineteen so maybe the suitors will not be as lined up as we think but there will be suited for Tom Brady yes desperate owners who want to make a splash Jerry Jones mark Davis I'm sure will be leading the pack but again if your team like the Titans and you have those situations of the Brady already Mike Rabal played with them in New England you're not viewing it as we're building around Tom Brady for the long term we're signing him as a free agent and he is our last Superbowl piece that is how I think teams look at it why do you think there will be a market for Brady everyone it's free agency fifteen days from now Chris in Richmond your next up CBS sports radio good morning how you doing I'm doing well all right so my take is a little off the beaten path it is not just like a brief first second I'm ready to take Brady the east he's by far the weakest division correct the AFC east yes yes Sir yep who have the most money in the AFC Miami Dolphins they have a hundred twenty million dollars I know that sounds weird let's figure this out the office sign him upgraded to a two year contract right let him group too now you set your franchise up for the next ten years who better the the grooming young quarterback to Brady not only that as you guys were talking about earlier with Antonio brown and his problems if he gets help and twenty brown from South Florida mark Cooper is from South Florida Miami has plenty of draft picks this year and next year one of the best tight and come out of college football's is from my end if you spend money on on those guys those wide receiver Brady still have about sixty million to the Catholic instant AJ green is getting old he's from South Florida he could be a third receiver slot receiver pretty simple coach from my it is that that Miami was at New England he had a relationship with their neighbors right now all that relationship I know that's far out there I know the dolphins suck this year I understand that look at the dom the forty Niners they have won the worst records two years ago and now they were at the Superbowl I just think about the general manager of owner and I have a young quarterback why not go spend that money grow all that in there for all this and say Hey I'm doing all this to get Brady in here this is our plan and he has the easiest path who is he isn't gonna stop them from making the playoffs Chris I love off the beaten path path opinions I love wild opinions I love wild sports takes that's a wild one for sure so Kristin Richmond has called into the show and said the dolphins don't just sign Tom Brady which would be big enough itself but they signed Tom Brady they draft to us Tongo by lower they have Brady mentor to us for two years they then bring in Antonio brown with all the legal issues over him they bring in Amari Cooper AJ green has been franchised by the Bengals so I'm not quite sure how AJ green or being a reportedly will franchise and they haven't done it yet officially but if they do I'm not sure how green gets there maybe he gets franchise in trade but regardless you got Brady to R. A. B. Cooper same team work salary cap wise you're right Brian Flores was defensive coordinator here all that makes sense Chris TB twelve Miami South Beach it's a natural spot to build up the brand I like all of that the only obstacle is that would include playing the patriots twice per year and I just don't think Tom Brady wants to play the patriots twice per year I don't think Tom Brady wants to be in direct competition with the patriots if he leaves it will be a clean break the Titans in the same conference is a close is Brady gets I don't think he's going to the dolphins and going to be a direct competitor to the patriots that would be unbelievable and I would love every second of it but I just don't see it happening long term I just don't I don't and I don't see Brett Brady also keep this in mind Brady also has performed poorly in Miami in his career that is the one place where Brady has not played well throughout his career the almost always has a hick up in Miami the heat whatever it is Brady doesn't play well in South Florida that's another reason why I don't think he goes the dolphins but I like that Chris in Richmond that's a good take we embrace it here on CBS sports radio eight five five two one two for CBS eight five five two one two four two two seven my name is out streamer in for any warrants coming up next we'll continue to take your Brady and I fell calls also Trevor Bauer intentionally tipping pitches all despite the Astros I love it we'll do that next but first here's an update from Jay Berman.

"Day I have a rules suggestion for the National Football League my suggestion is that anytime defense and this is this is gonna sound so anti foreign to me but it just it you know I don't need it in my life anymore so I'm fine with say this and and be in this this this fuddy Duddy defensive players who take the ball back any amount of yards greater than ten when the play is over like Chris Jones just rip the ball out of Ryan Tannehill's hands as he was laying on the ground to try to pretend like I was a fumble five yard penalty next time you get the ball back you know like not not like right there like I don't need it's like older games or anything but like next time your team gets the ball five your penalty so stop pretending it's a turnover we all know it's not a turnover coal through correct so check it all and know what's going on in Kansas city here's a hint they go great for Tennessee as they just had to put the ball yeah together down eleven does not feel like there's gonna be a ton of scoring here in the second half we just got seven points on the board for the chiefs seven more would likely push this thing out of how to Tennessee's grass peer they've been eighteen point lead everybody stuff to overcome for the Tennessee Titans the kids the chiefs are gonna be all tough to overcome for the foreseeable future in the AFC west I don't envy the situation that the Broncos that the Chargers or the raiders are in going forward now all those teams will still make money in all those teams will have an opportunity to make the playoffs with the wild card but as long as my homes plays fourteen or more games you're not winning the AFC west anytime soon so tough to be at the Denver fans off to be a Chargers fan right never been tougher to be charged in the right now A. in tough to be a writer Stan going forward although it's looking up for the raiders you're holding city to get excited about you but it could get real tough for the Chargers going forward and if you don't think the timing of this is important if you don't think the timing of this says something well I can't help you Philip rivers texted Adam Schefter and Chris Mortensen this morning to explain that he's permanently moving his family out of San Diego so their Florida home to be closer to his family and what I assume is also his wife's family now I want you to think for a second all hard it is for Philip rivers to move his family's got forty eight kids okay they lived in San Diego since he got drafted and that's so I'm assuming we're most those kids were bored I'm assuming that's where most of them have spent the majority of their life going to school so think about how interesting and tough that is for Philip rivers rivers is picking up a very large family who is had its roots firmly planted in San Diego he's picked let family up and he's moving them all the way across the nation to Florida that's worth noting rivers was not a fan of the move from San Diego to LA by the Chargers so much so that he could move his family to LA reverse commute he had a specialized bus that allowed him to watch film be entertained things of that nature wall he spent the you know ninety minutes two hours getting to the facility of the ninety minutes to hours getting back from the facility think about that all of us have some sort of commute those live at work to work from home you know it's you're the exception always have some sort of commute N. big Philly got no call her every day for the better part of a couple years the now big Philly eight a charger anymore if you don't live in California anymore seems like Philip rivers is done with the Chargers the charges are done with Philip rivers too but that's going to be a changing of the guard now the Chargers have Tyrod Taylor in a top ten pick so I'm assuming the Chargers left Tyrod Taylor the quarterback or their team here pretty soon from the draft maybe in free agency thank you get interested in right here on the hill Jameis Winston teddy Bridgewater Marcus Mariota our deals guys really guaranteed to be better than Tyrod Taylor no it's better to draft somebody in and for the next full of rivers the Chargers we'll talk about them a little bit later on I know Tom Brady is not going to go play for the freaking Chargers but Philip rivers don't feel like he's done it doesn't feel like a guy that would be that bad of an option if you're one of these teams looking to maybe just get over the hump take the next step if you had a team of the recorder back I really like borderline whole Famers being mercenaries that's a scenario that's a situation I like to find myself in as a football team when I'm hiring a guy to come play for I like mercenaries because mercenaries from the quarterback spot are there to take care of themselves and make themselves look good well the quarterback is gonna look good Lou we can we can out everybody's will look good we can and we get out so you start thinking about these different teams here especially the teams in Florida now Jacksonville seems out of the question they've got falls on the roster and they drafted Gardner made sure those two will battle it out Miami seems likely to end up with a rookie that they want to throw in there right away or a rookie that will sit learned from Ryan Tannehill well there's a fourteen an old and grumpy but competitive seems like it would probably love old and grumpy and competitive tend to feel like a move to Florida setting up Philip rivers as Bruce Ariens is next quarterback rivers is a free agent Seamus Winston's a free agent and resilience needs a quarterback so do I go with Janus who through thirty interceptions where do I go with Philip rivers babies a slow starter what is a potential favor.

"That route and the association of get involved I believe tomorrow what not so how does that process work I mean as a player is it almost like you know for a worker over here restaurant worker or whatnot in the culinary union is it almost like having the union basically going to bat for you and and maybe getting you reinstated in a situation that if you were not a new union you just wouldn't have a chance. I think you know the absolute you know there's a lot of people that look like you're getting what I was planning you know they felt like they were going in different directions they once they weren't representing the players but truly I I think the union does represent players are specially in in situations like this they provide a lawyer I you know if you go in front of the basically the management of the National Football League and which is the commissioner and all the other decisions that they occupy in the front office and you know it in what happens is you literally sit down I don't say it in a large meeting room which is that the table probably can see thirty people so when you're sitting in one of the commissioners is sitting at the other yeah it feels like you know you're getting your final sentence and but what happens is they present evidence and the evidence is the video of the game or something else that you've done either off the field and are you watch and sit there and there's attorneys are along with the commissioner and a lot of other people that are part of the National Football League and they make accusations why did you do this and in the case of a particular play bass wall the film down to the point where you think you've got plenty of time to make decisions you know you're running up there and be just before the contact they slow down so it makes it looks like it like you're walking in the park you know like you got you know several minutes to make a decision on how you want to do this not realizing that that is the way it happens everything is bang bang and what I mean by that is the players are so big and strong and fast now that when these situations occur for the most part they are so quick and you know moving your head around the state not to have the helmet to helmet contact is ridiculous because it doesn't take into effect if you're defender what the often if the player is going to do and you know so many times the offense player actually dogs who. head and they're the ones that are creating the helmet to helmet hit but you know I I do think that you know with with with his continued infractions over a period of time I think you have a cell is getting more and more just in a demand that this behavior will not. it will not continue and they'll they'll do whatever it takes to stanchions find other things that'll just delay or eliminated behavior. take.

Melvin Gordon is active today against the dolphins Gordon joins an under achieving run into Chargers team when healthy though head coach Anthony Lynn knows the impact Gordon hats just his first as a Goron style number sometime last year war it's a for people just to get him down and I remember how those moments just ignited the satellites and this is after his determination I think it's not only one was on feel this will help our football team. "The highest level in the National Football League so to do something like this and have you know the the the white Sox in the cryo chamber and the homeless situation but the biggest takeaway from me is that no throughout all of this right all the things that are going on he hasn't had time to develop a relationship in the chemistry with his quarterback because he hasn't been there and that's the biggest thing for me this is in a situation like in Pittsburgh where he has familiarity with Ben Roethlisberger he understands the timing already they've been together for years this isn't that he's going to a new situation a new team with a new quarterback that he have to develop that same type of chemistry if you want to be successful with this team and he hasn't been out there due to these injuries in these things that we've that we've already mentioned so that's the part that kind of shocks me about all of this Antonio brown knows what it takes to compete at the highest level and to be successful and I think as of right now he's kind of taking a step back in that learning curve at least with the Oakland Raiders thing greater France including the one in my left and Jason fits a just because in their eyes and waiting for him to get on the field because when he gets on the feel great things can happen all the other stuff around it so we know Zeke's going to get a deal we know it certainly dak Prescott it's going to get a deal an antique holding out going to get the deal Melvin Gordon with the Chargers Victor two guys supposed to make five point six million this year is getting fined thirty grand today he can be find an actual regular season game check for missing preseason game so he can lose a lot of money if in fact they do accept the fines and it's a guy in my opinion Victor who is not going to win this so if your him or in his camp at what point do you have to draw that line and say you know what this isn't happening I don't have the leverage I need to get back I think you got to have a real conversation with yourself and your agents and your team and just understand where you are and have a real look in that mirror of where you are as an athlete where you are contractually and then have a meeting with your agent and say Hey what how realistic is it for me to get an extension our our new deal how realistic is it because I'm losing thirty granite bay here that I don't have it and that I'm banking on getting a new contract so that doesn't hurt me as much as it should so I think he just has to have that real conversation with himself and understand where he is individually at at and just figure out what it takes to be you know the the level of caliber player that he is is is next level and but he has to have that real conversation with himself and with his team to to put a date on when he can get back when he wants to get back and when he has the humble seven get back in their playful do you think that day to be now do you think you should be gone back I think you should be going back I think that the way this the the way his hold out is I I just think he doesn't have any leverage I I think the way he's going into this whole dot I think obviously the leverage is what he's done on the football field is compare bulls but in terms of the contract in terms of the way that the charges are looking at him I just don't think he has enough leverage to hold out throughout the season pictures of this Michelle Pennzoil performance I'm Victor the NFL just announced a partnership with Jay Z. and roc nation gonna collaborate certainly on the entertainment portion of the product Superbowl halftime shows some other music ventures but they also mentioned this idea of going out and doing work in the community like that we've seen the NFL starting to commit to a little bit more the social justice issues that come with the leave what did you make of it when you saw this in specifically that portion of it explained with the NFL and someone from the outside like JZ I love the I I think it's the perfect marriage between between two brands that can come together really get this thing right for the NFL and and come to speak the language of what's out there in the music industry in entertainment and nothing is going to take with the biggest thing is like social reform and different things that are kind of outside the scope of the NFL so that they can have someone that understands the culture of what the NFL live they understand the culture of the type of fans and people that watch the NFL and what they want to listen to what they want to hear and what they want to see the NFL doing in the community that makes people sit back and say Hey they're they're really work and they're figuring it out there not just sitting back and letting other people do it they're creating unions in partnerships with organizations and companies like roc nation that understand what it takes and what it and understand exactly how to shake things out and and put people in the right place for success and I think the NFL sees they see that in themselves they need someone to come in and help them with this and I think roc nation and Jay Z. specifically are the perfect part you guys can follow him on Twitter at team Vic Victor Cruz as always we appreciate your time and thanks for joining no longer thing from coming up next the.

"Figured it's, it's time that we kid kinda focus dedicate some hours to focusing on the National Football League. And you know what was done in the draft? What kind of season are you coming off from a year ago? What are your prospects going forward? Is this an all type season? Are you working with the new head coach are you establishing direction or has a direction already been established, and it's time to put up or shut up? You need to make the playoffs in the National Football League in order to preserve jobs, and I'm not I'm not saying age. I'm not saying the job of the head coach or the job of any particular player, I've talking multiple jobs, because we based decisions based on results and decisions are made not only based on results based on promise as well. And you could see how teams behave how they evaluate their own team. You know, if you make minimal adjustments. You'll one of two things is happening, you're either getting ready to unload, so that you can rebuild or you feel like you can go forward with the team. You have, and Bs competitive is you can be without maybe breaking the Bank to sign that free agent. And when it is time to break, the Bank, maybe it's time that you already. We have seen these things all play out for my hometown team. The Cleveland football Browns. We've not been relevant in a long time. And let's not treat them as a team as an organization that aids existed since stiking forty six for the sake of the state of the team. We are talking only recent history only and we cannot go back farther than when the Browns were expanded into the league in one thousand nine hundred nine there's really very little point in even going that far back. Let's just kind of focus on getting to where we're at right now. Cleveland Browns coming your way this hour. My name's Jeff rich coming to your from Phoenix Arizona, we're doing this one for the troops out there listing on the American forces network. This is the sports byline broadcast. I work, and we'll be right back..

"One thirty two and the whole National Football League. Just make yourself better than the defense. Bottled up Andrew luck whose held to two or three through the air. Lock puts it on himself post game. Yeah. I I don't I don't I don't think I responded. Well, you know after those first couple through three drives to get something going, and and you know, some bad balls hurt there, and and and some yeah. Some incompletion some some froze that. I'm not happy about that. I wish I could have back certainly so loves counterpart Patrick Mahomes ran for touchdown through for two seventy eight twenty seven of forty one through the air without a pick engineering drives of ninety and seventy yards put Kansas City up two touchdowns. Eight and a half minutes into the game. So how 'bout Patrick pads are chargers next? Go round. Yeah. Not really a preference. I mean, both of them are really really good teams have had a lot of experience. And so I mean, we're going to prepare whatever we we figure out who we're going to get the play, but we're excited to play at home, and we'll get their chance to win a game to get to the Super Bowl. So an interesting dynamic in that matchup in Foxborough with a pair of veterans under center for the chargers and patriots Philip rivers enters today's game one in seven against the patriots. Oh and foreign games in Foxborough Owen to in the playoffs. Tom Brady will be forty one years old forty one one sixty three on the day side, rivers thirty seven and thirty six days. Also, the combined. Ages oldest pair of quarterbacks the face each other in an NFL playoff game. That breaks the Mark Brady Payton manning Brady on his counterpart in today's game. I think he's an incredible player and has been since he came in the league, and I don't know him that. Well. A lot of guys that have played with him. And you know, they all say great things. He's a great leader. He's a great passer of the football, you know, incredibly tough, and it's just been a prolific passer. And you kind of like me, you know, he wants the ball out of his hand, you know, he wants to be an anticipated coverages. You've got really a great group of skill players backs tight ends receivers. And you know, they're playing as well as any offense that's played all season, and he's had an incredible year. We mentioned Brady's age his coach on if age is a factor either way when you get on the field football football..
