"Division lead with a clenched fist. A closed hand a hard heart to demonize your Ponant spew hatred. They don't need me, they'd got President Donald Trump. Our country. Democratic public is independence different bat, not back to a path that never was, but your future fulfills our trooper tential as a country. Let's hear from some of those democratic rivals. Now, I former Colorado governor John Hickenlooper governor, thank you for joining us this morning about you just heard from vice president Biden, there, he, he's pitched the core of his pitch, so far as bringing the country together calming things down. He says he can build bridges to Republicans to get things done now. That's exactly will you've been focusing on as well. Why can you do it better than Joe Biden? Well, you know, I'm running for president because Donald Trump has been fuelling this national crisis of division and taking country backwards. And the answer is not socialism in Colorado, we were able to bring business and nonprofit together Democrats, Republicans do get almost universal healthcare covers to become the number one comedy in America and to beat the NRA with tough gun laws. I've, I've been a an entrepreneur and gover and most of my adult life. I've been able to bring people together again and again and get tough progressive things done. The people said, we couldn't do, I think it's time to replace the nonsense in Washington with some common sense. You say the answer is not socialism obviously peers to be a reference to Bernie Sanders. But are you confident that this consensus building exactly what Democrats are looking for a lot of the most energized voices in the party are saying that it's time for being bold, even radical solutions. Well, but you spend my whole life as I. Said bringing people together and getting big progressive things done where the Colorado almost a number one. Well, it is the number one Connie in the country, we've achieved almost universal healthcare coverage and we beat the NRA with tough tough gun laws. I think the real challenge is how do we get that nonsense? That's taken over Washington and replace it with commonsense. That's the slogan, you've hit on. And I know you more you're going to be talking about foreign policy, laying your foreign policy vision as well in your speech council on foreign relations and part of that speech that we've seen you call out fellow Democrats. Some Democrats recoiling from pass American foreign policy stakes by looking to withdraw from our global leadership role. I refuse to join their retreat referring to there. Well, you know, I mean, let's frame, it that Donald trunks, isolationist and reckless farm policy has actually made our country less safe as tariff wars heard our Konomi, and Trump and some in my own party who. Well, I don't want to name names, but there, but they have withdrawn from they would have the United States withdrawal from global engagement, and that makes us less safe. The only way to full security is through constant engagement, and by reviving US leadership. We actually make our, our countries safer, but we also make it more prosperous. You say you don't want to name names, but you're running for president against twenty two other Democrats right now are any of those twenty to any of those call for their treat your calling out right there. Almost all the other Democrats, not all, but many of the other Democrats feel that we should back away from fair and open trade. And I believe that only through, you know, constant gauge -ment and building up that trailer, we're going to get to full security, and I think, as we revive leadership, we're able to not only make our country safer. But as I said, we're going to be able to be more prosperous at the same time when it comes to foreign policy, vice-president Biden. Tasr years of experience in the Senate, and vice president our next two guests. Both served in the military what qualifies you to be commander and chief well in Colorado, I set up a national cyber security center in Colorado Springs, worked on the in-state, deployment of the national guard or closely with our military leadership around the operations of our six military bases, including NORAD, I've gone out on over a dozen economic development trips of built relationships with leaders around the world, what places like Israel. We've had a partnership that addresses terrorism water conservation cyber security. I mean, there's a law of a portfolio their places where I've been engaging in active affairs, your way back in the pack right now about one percent in the George two percent, depending on the poll. You're right. If some of the some to someone that that's true. But in order to get any traction, you're gonna have to start taking on these other candidates, aren't you? I think little by little, but again the focus, I'm running because this country is a national crisis of division. And I looked by whole life. I've been able to bring people together and get stuff done. I think I'm the one candidate when you look at the long record of what they've gotten done I can bring. I really believe I can bring some common sense, where right now in Washington. You see nothing but nonsense, a lot of Democrats concerned, not only about the White House, but also trying to get the Senate back. And I know the Chuck Schumer the Senate Democratic leaders talked to you in the past about maybe forgoing, the presidential race and taking on Cory Gardner for the Senate any chance you're gonna do that if you're presidential campaign doesn't take off. Well, I think I'd be. The difficult Canada's a Senator been my whole life putting teams together, both as an entrepreneur, the private sector, but also as mayor and as a governor. And by building those teams we've been able to, to bring people together and do the big progressive things that people said couldn't be done. And that's the only way we're gonna find, you know, only way we're going to be able to bring some some common sense to Washington. Hickenlooper? Thanks for joining us this morning. You bet. Thank you. We're gonna be right back after this ABC stations. Hi, I'm Jay drumming. Thumping.

"Way to join us once again or the you have one two or eight five questions about something digital. I am sure you do. Just go ahead and pick up the phone now or on your smartphone. One triple eight eight to five fifty to fifty four and before we go back to all of your phone calls this show, some interesting items that crossed my desk in first of which it was the big Facebook f eight conference this past week and throughout history. It seems like whenever Facebook gets self in a jam. They do these whole political PR moves, right? Mark Zuckerberg came out this past week and said we. We are going to be redesigning Facebook. We're actually going to change it from public town hall to a vehicle for private conversations. So instead of the news feed, you're going to a message only in private groups, not the entire world anywhere. But the problem is the design you say, they're only one two three degrees of separation with every Facebook user. So as soon as someone in one private group context anyone another private group. It's pretty much back to square one. So few other things at the beginning of this. Keynote Mark Zuckerberg said the future is private. Novel that that brings us to his other idea for groups for privacy is key things like health support groups were members composed without having their names appear. Sounds like you can be anonymous. But no word how this applies to advertisers and advertising on Facebook. They also refreshed the messenger app. They're releasing a desktop app later and remember what he said he wanted a camera and every living room. Well, now, they're portable video chat device. It's not only throughout the United States. But it's going to Europe and privacy is their new favorite buzzword. But now, they're also asking you to make a list up to nine of your Facebook friends, who you might have a romantic interest. So you just have to come with the nine folks on your Facebook friends list, you say, you know, if I wasn't married, or if I was single this is really who I want to go out with I can't imagine anything going wrong with that at any given point ever. They say it's part of Facebook dating that's available in twenty countries right now somehow that doesn't include the United States quite yet. And they also. Want to dive in with more a and algorithms to they say to help stop fake news in those videos and hate speech because they see how well it's been working out over at YouTube. And when soccer Berg said something we listened because it's kind of like a study of the human condition by comparing of what he actually says to what he's actually doing doesn't always line up. So just because Mark Zuckerberg says I am champion for your privacy right now. Doesn't really mean that he is kind of like if you stand in the garage. Do you really become a car not so much, right? Moving along. Let's talk about your password password. Protectionism perfect. I can't wait until it goes away, some guy Microsoft is past week said we needed to get rid of passwords like, yeah. Yeah. Thank. Well, the UK national cyber security center did a study with have I been postponed on Troy hunt. And they looked at various databases of breached accounts. It wasn't good at the top of the list of past reduce should never use. But apparently, everybody's still does it's very disappointing to me onto three or five six they found that pass reviews for over twenty three million accounts around the world. I hope not all that yellow crap out there. It's called pollen. Yeah. I feel like it just goes like all the way into your nose into your brain. That's what that's what happened. Yes. There's a cyber security agency releasing the one hundred thousand most commonly used passwords in the world. If you have any one of these they implore you to change them. What do you think the number one password that needs to be changed is got to be one two three four five? Right. It's got to be that one pretty interesting that you say that of all the small things in life picking a secure password is nothing to mess with. But a bunch of people out there are clearly nineties music fans and blink one eighty two sounded safe enough to us. No kidding in the category of musical artists. The most heck password is blink one eighty two. I never would have thought that. I gotta tell you. That's a brilliant password. Yeah. Because every time you do a password. You've got to have your letters go into numbers. Now. You do. Yeah. Blink one eighty two. I mean, that's I don't I don't like the band or you can do fifty cent. I guess that's a number a letter put together. I don't think you can go numbers before letters. Can you fifty cent? Yeah. Blink one eighty two. If your password is blink one eighty to change it. Okay. The breakdown of the most common passwords that led to security breaches worldwide. Wow. Twenty three point two million victims had one two three four five six cordy. Cordy was there I don't get eight. What's that look at your keyboard? Tom. Some W E RT, y so I read this this morning, right? And it said Corey and I'm looking at him like, I don't get is that a word that. I don't know. Right. What has happening here? Right. It is not that is you're right left of your keyboard. Right. Which was used by twenty three point two. All right others. Tried to be sneaky and added a few more numbers, but one two three four five six seven eight nine is still Hackel and seven point seven million accounts used that combo as a password so one two three four five six seven eight nine. We have Corey just to be safe the security center recommends using three random but memorable terms in password. I remember back in nineteen ninety eight I was working at a radio station in Texas, and the IT guy said do do not make your password password, and I thought dumb enough to use the word password as your password. "And it's it's going to be interesting because with the five G rollout, and the prices that while I offers on five G, it is going to be normally tempting for a lot of countries to opt into their system. This is a huge battle for the next generation and telecommunications equipment to bring five G online in part because there's going to be so much more equipment when you're talking about this super short the the high frequency stuff that the short range five G stuff. You're talking about putting lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of little tiny towers all over cities, and that's lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of revenue so, you know, hallways already embedded in a lot of countries at this point. I it, you know. You know? I just thought it was interesting. You know to finally see because we we haven't gotten a lot of it was just like alway bad and one of the the sort of Defcon insider backstory channel kind of stories with somebody who's like well. It's not any worse than a lot of our equipment. But you see. Are three letter agencies have access to our equipment, but our theater agencies don't have access to their equipment and their three letter agencies do and. That was I will I will put that in the hype and rumor the unsubstantiated claim buckets, but you know, I it it's also interesting to look, you know, one of the things that mister Satari auto points out is is that while way, you know, see me there's concerns about hallway. But there's also greater concerns inside the British government. Just like there are in the United States government, the the China as a nation is during a tremendous amount of hacking and trying to break in the infrastructure and trying to steal data and information, so. I'm curious to see how it goes. You know, the kind of damning part on this report was that quote. There remains no end to end integrity. So they they they couldn't really guarantee what software was going where what time and that means, you know, we we talk a lot when we talk about open source programs. Some of the advantages of open source is hey sources up on get hub. For example. If you haven't heard about it, we talked about on tech thing this week fire FOX send which is a open source tool. That is allowing fire FOX users to send up to two point five gigahertz files. Encrypted and basically ended encryption, and it will sort of make us files available for up to a week. So if I am a code nerd, if I am a a talented program or I can go, and I can read through that code, and I can look for things. Don't want to be there. It's all, you know, harder. If not right just flat out impossible to do that. When you're talking about, you know, private, you know, privately you just, you know, co that comes from a corporation. And then if they don't even really guarantee what they're putting oil. We'll we'll load whatever's fresh at that point, you know, that's that's complicated. Oversimplifying and drawing this this picture with crayons rather than anything, particularly fine and detailed. But it was interesting to see now, admittedly, you know, Great Britain is longtime ally the United States, they tend to sort of lean our direction and when the wind blows. But. You know, they they are very. It was nice to see the that. They're coming up with reasons to justify their concerned. Also, it was interesting that the, you know, the the head of the national cyber security center that you know, we're we're keeping their stuff out of the sensitive parts of the network. We have good oversight. There's no need to ban. It just beware. So. We wait. Betas definitely. Yeah. That's our tagline. That's the history. History. There's obviously some paranoia involved with this. I mean, obviously, why does a lot more than just make five G equipment. But right. You know, their mobile phones are I think second in the world, but they're they're huge in Asia rice, some of the other countries..
Huawei 5G risk can be managed, say UK cybersecurity bosses
"But for the United States and its allies big debate has been about whether the Chinese technology giant Weiwei can be trusted to help build up that new infrastructure, the US, Australia and New Zealand have already bad the company from providing key equipment for their networks. Now, a report from the UK's national cybersecurity center has concluded that any risks posed to British security by allowing. Wow way in can be managed our technology. Correspondent is Rory. Caitlin jones. What his the UK government like many governments is in the process of deciding whether or not while they should be banned from the next generation of five G networks this organization the national cyber. Security center is probably the key organization feeding into that review. And it has got a lot of experience. It's been running an annual review of equipment for the last four or five years. So it reckons it knows what the risks saw it knows where this equipment should be used in where it shouldn't do and it's giving a balanced assessment. And I think this report will be widely welcomed by the mobile phone operators who are desperate. Frankly, not have while way banned from the network, doesn't it worry, you authorities that there is a growing list of countries who have banned while way five g technology already. So I think the UK government will be worried about the politics of it. And that comes from a lot of pressure from the United States, telling its allies that they shouldn't be using this company and to those allies, Australia and New Zealand have already in effect, not exactly bandit. But have said they will be stopping away from entering those. Gene networks, so that will be on the UK's mind. The UK government believes that he has got the best insights that there are into the technology here. And they keep coming back to the fact that this is all about risk. This is not about anything having been found. Nobody's actually found a back door. It will always over the years. And while way has the unique selling point that it is more technologically advanced than other competitors. Is that right? Yeah. It's widely regarded as being the leader in this field of developing these equipment for five G. You know, there are people who suggested it's got there over the years by a lot of copying. But he spends more on our d than just about any company on earth is a quip is widely regarded as better and until recently was also cheaper than its rivals. While we says, it has no links to the government in Beijing. Aides not dependent on them it pays its taxes. Otherwise, independent is that possible in modern China. Well, that is the big question, whatever the lack of evidence of actual votes or surveillance equipment inside the big worry is that in the final analysis is a Chinese company and Chinese companies are thought to be beholden to the Chinese state. So the concern is that. Yeah. Everything may be fine. Now what happens down the line if there are added tensions between China and the west and the Chinese government says, listen, you're a company do what we say. This isn't the final judgment in the UK's cases. There's a government reviewed you to announce in the spring. Yeah. This is the technical advice from the people who should know the intelligence experts to that review. So it should carry an awful lot of way. But there will be a large political element to be inserted into that before. The final

The phone itself can technically do so motherboard reports this capability is much more widely available in cybercriminals groups, then that that use it empty Bank accounts as seven attacks against banks are on the rise according to their aboard. And now the national cyber security center the defensive arm of the UK's signal intelligence agency G C H Q confirmed that 'Seven is being used to intercept codes used for banking metro Bank also confirmed that face in it says seven attack and in a statement said it supported a law enforcement investigation into S as seven attacks across the industry. Well, you know, we're talking we're talking a couple minutes ago about changing your passwords and getting my Bank account. Drained would be a great reason to, you know, take more seriously. But as a seven's a whole different thing, Justin. I mean, certainly, so this is a backbone core element of our technological world. And by the way, these are the elements that actual hackers are are looking into like, these are these are the elements that are looked at four there and destined for their security, simply because they don't exactly have a, you know, as as much of a spotlight from a mainstream or a enterprise audience. So this is fascinating. I I was not aware or as educated about 'Seven before reading up for this article. But I'm excited to see where it goes. I'm excited as well.
